2024.05.21 15:58 Careless_Question Transfer Results - Thank you TTT25!

Many thanks to this sub. The WIKI was incredibly helpful for navigating the transfer process.
Full disclosure - I’m a parent, not a student. Got permission to share my kid’s results, and wanted to share my thoughts on the process overall.
Stats: 4.0 College GPA, 4.45 High School GPA (weighted) with 10 APs. Applied test optional/32 ACT score.
Current college: small regional LAC located in the Northwest. Majored in creative writing.
ECs: (going to be a little vague here) In high school started 2 organizations dedicated to women’s rights issues. Active in high school student government and advocating on behalf of marginalized communities on campus. Also did mock trial. In college, continued working for women’s rights organization in college both on campus and with a state-wide lobbying group.
Rec Letters: 2, both from professors. Class sizes were very small and kid was a frequent visitor of office hours. Didn’t read letters but assume they were pretty positive.
Intended Major: gender studies, possibly history or sociology
Hired someone to help edit essays, otherwise I was kid’s transfer advisor. (Hired a college advisor for freshman admissions and did not get our money’s worth).
Applied: BU, NEU, Tufts, Wellesley, Barnard, Wesleyan, Brown, Harvard
Results:
Accepted - BU, Barnard, Wesleyan, Tufts, Brown
WL - Harvard
Rejected - Wellesley
(Withdrew from NEU)
Observations:
Not gonna lie, was very surprised by the results this time around. Tbh kid’s stats and ECs were essentially the same from high school to college, but the success rate this time around was much higher (was rejected/waitlisted from most of these schools for freshman admission)
Tips from a Parent:
Do the Math: look at the common data sets from a few years back to get a sense of how easy (or not easy) it really is to transfer in. My kid wanted to transfer out no matter what, so we chose specific non T25 schools to increase the odds of success.
Dig into the Details: my kid’s reason for transferring was pretty straightforward - wanted to study a major (gender studies) that wasn’t offered at the LAC she attended. But that’s just the beginning. Essays really focused on the opportunities kid would have at (insert new school) including classes and professors, research opportunities, clubs and organizations, etc. Essays also talked about career aspirations and how transferring would help her achieve those goals. Compared to freshman applications, I’d say the narrative throughout her transfer application as a whole was way more cohesive and compelling this time around.
Be Real: Let’s face it, if you’re on this sub there’s a good chance you didn’t get the results you wanted the first time around. If you’re happy to stay at your current school but hoping to move up the T25 ladder, shoot your shot and hope for the best. But if you really want/need to transfer for whatever reason, make sure there’s some non T25 schools on your list so you (hopefully) have choices come May/June.
Hope this helps - very grateful to TTC25 for all your help!

2024.05.21 15:58 ignasmomo Lots of problems with Toyota avensis T27

Hey!
Toyota avensis 2010 1AD-FTV d4d
Recently i've had many problems with my toyota where the speedometer and rpm meter have gone up and down and different warning lights have shown up. Now it seems like all electronics are dead, ABS, antispin, powersteering, motor temperature, and both speedometer and rpm meter aren't working. Even filling up the car with diesel takes half an hour for it to show up. I also got lights for check VSC system, otherwise the car runs fine. The issue is i can't seem to connect to obd. Tested multiple cables but none of them work, just says can't connect to the ecu.
Any advice?
I have tried checking fuses, disconnecting battery for a few hours, disconnecting ecu to look at the pins.
Edit#1 forgot to add my year

2024.05.21 15:57 Sad-Comparison323 VLANs disappearing after first reload after new config applied

I have googled this for hours and can find multiple reports of the same thing happening but no fix.
Basically I use C1117 routers. When i apply a config over TFTP or USB to the startup config, reload the router, the next time it reloads, be it the reload command or a physical reboot, the VLANs and the VTP info is gone.
I use VTP version 2 in transparent mode with a domain name and after the first reboot VTP goes to server mode and no domain name, all VLANS except vlan 1 are then gone.
The router functions perfectly until that first reboot. I have tested this thoroughly by applying new config and rebooting routers with different settings hundreds of times and it happens without fail but only after a new config is applied.
Does anyone know a fix for this that isn't "just apply the vlans back after it loses them"?

2024.05.21 15:57 _-Big-Hat-_ Need help to buy a new budget monitor--preferably something large like 32 inch

Hello,
I am looking for a new monitor and I'd need something large s.a. 28'' or preferably 32'' with a good sharp display and contrast. The monitor will be used mainly for work but some hobbies like image processing or video editing are also considered. I'm also a casual gamer but it's not super important. My machine is about 4 years old with ASUS RTX 2080Ti 11GB. If you need any more info, please let me know. I know DP port is older 1.4 as well as HDMI 2.0b.
I can see Amazon advertises some cheap monitors. There are flat and curved products. For instance, a flat Samsung LU32J590UQPXXU UJ590 32" 4K UHD Monitor on Amazon costs only £224 and seems to have good specs considering the price:
The cons:
This monitor also has good reviews mostly 5 stars and tests on a few websites I visited reported decent colour representation. The only issue is calibration is required. Reviews report sharp and clear screen without any visible display problems. Due to a VA panel, I do expect some light bleeding at corners considering the size of 32 inch screen.
A much more expensive monitor (£229) is Samsung U32J590UQR - UJ59 Series - LED monitor. I can't spot any difference, apart from LED display panel. I have to admit I'm confused about the difference between LCD and LED in practice. I tried to read some specifications but there is little to say about which is better and why, considering different circumstances.
The other monitors I'd consider would be those with curved but they cost higher. The monitos I found, mostly Samsung, haven't implemented features s.a. FreeSync or Flicker-free; they also lack of VESA mounts, stands are not quite flexible etc.
All of the monitors so far do not have HDR implemented. IIRC the price is at least twice as much as SDR if not more. So currently, I'd have to opt for a non-HDR example.
Of course, the monitor I thought in the first section may not be even worth this price. If you have other suggestions, please do recommend something, instead. I wouldn't mind something by Dell, Philips, BenQ, LG, Acer, etc. Also, lots of monitors are old like 5 or 6 yo. My budget cannot currently exceed £400--this is the hard limit.
Cheers!

2024.05.21 15:56 com6491 Should High School Change Cirriculum to Boost State Test Pass Rates?

I am a science teacher at a small high school in Virginia where all students are supposed to take Biology 1 by the end of 10th grade. Currently we teach Earth Science in 9th grade and Environmental Science as an elective. It seems like most schools in Virginia have made Environmental Science (half biology, half earth science) their mandatory 9th grade class (no state standardized testing for it) and Earth Science as an elective.
Bio 1 and Earth Science both have standardized tests and my school asked for my opinion about make the same change. The logic is that our accreditation is based on the pass rate percentages for these state tests and by teaching Envi Sci in 9th we are helping prepare them for biology. Also, if we don't make everyone take Earth Science, more students will pass that test too and our pass percentage will be higher.
My problem with this (and what I'm looking for opinions on) is that it's changing what students will learn. It seems like our state has decided that biology matters and all other science classes are secondary. Making this change will take the number of students who take Earth Science from 100% to probably closer to 30%-40%. It just feels wrong to me to play their numbers game at the expense of our children's education. Am I being foolish?

2024.05.21 15:55 Luck9599 Additions to future F1 games (*long post alert*)

Hello everyone
With F1 24 being announced and being copy and paste again (basically just an F1 23 DLC at this point), I thought I'd write this post to maybe, just maybe, help (in any way) the next future F1 games become more realistic, which I think should be the main goal of these games (and also to express my deep disapointment with how the series is going).
Before we begin: this is completely based on my opinion, you don't need to agree with me, specially because I know some stuff may be considered completely delusional, as EA would never implement these things. With that out of the way, it's light out and away we go.
Here are additions/ideas that would turn the F1 game into an incredible experience:
As you guys can see, all these additions would be more oriented towards realism. I addressed changes to career mode and MyTeam, since those are the only modes I really play, but I know that online modes are in need of some changes as well.
Please feel free to comment what you think as well :D

2024.05.21 15:50 _idkwtfimdoing Alcohol smell on breath without drinking or ketoacidosis?

Hi all, I'm 22, approx 180lbs at 5"8, and biologically female, and for the last week I've been told several times by my partner that my breath smells of vodka and when they kiss me they can taste alcohol, except I haven't been drinking. I have been feeling slightly dizzy recently too, so brought a blood glucose monitor to check and I got 4.9 after 16 hours without eating which I'm fairly sure is centre of the normal range. I recently had a blood test which said my white and red cell counts are normal, and nothing has changed in my eating/activity/sleeping habits . Before I see my GP is there anything this could be? I've tried looking online but every result suggests ketoacidosis which I'm not experiencing based on my blood glucose results. Thanks :)

I have had vss for about 1.5 years now. Underwent multiple tests which all came back normal so I accepted that I have vss, although I have never been officially diagnosed. Since the past 2 days I’ve been noticing a new symptom and it’s freaking me out. It’s like a twinkling star at the blind spot only in my left eye. It happens quite a few times during the day. Also I see an electrical spark kind of a thing at my blind spots. Something like the attached gif. But not so many. Only like 2-3 of those. The doctor has ordered a visual fields and it’s freaking me out if this is a sign of papilledema? Has anyone experienced this before,

2024.05.21 15:49 lykwydchykyn WTS: Handmade pedals and practice amps, experimental designs.

Hi guys. Making another shot at this. Cut prices on a few things because I'm just running out of room for storing my new builds. Order multiples and I may cut you a deal.
This post is mostly for people interested in buying, but I love a trade! If you're interested in trading see my latest post in /letstradepedals. I post there every other week, usually on Tuesday. I got non-DIY stuff in the trade post, too.
What I got for sale is hand-built stuff that I made, mostly relatively unique or heavily tweaked designs built on vero or point to point. Many are housed in upcycled tins, a few in hammond boxes. I've also got small practice amps built inside whatevers that you can crank up and enjoy at low volumes. They all run on standard 9v pedal power.
PRICES DON'T INCLUDE SHIPPING -- I ship USPS priority using pirateship.com, so expect shipping to be between $5 and $15 depending on how close you are to Tennessee. Would prefer to not deal with international shipping, but if you want it bad enough to pay for it, I'm game.
I accept Paypal or Venmo.

Fuzzes
Name Price Links Notes
Bazz Me Fuss You #1 $90 PIC DEMO A bazz-fussified perversion of the Escobedo push-me-pull-you, featuring controls for octave and volume. This is the first unit I've built using my own custom PCB. Housed in a painted 125B with top jacks.
Space Fuzz $80 PIC DEMO This is a Hollis crash sync fuzz that I souped up with an LFO to modulate the filtesync frequency. Really wild flangery/phasey type gated fuzz sound. At the right settings you can get some octave-down effects as well. Housed in a ~3.5 inch square game tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Pretty pleased with this build.
SwirlFuzz $75 PIC DEMO Modulated octave fuzz prototype. It's an octave fuzz, but you can switch on an LFO to modulate the octave amount. Controls for Rate, Depth, Gain, and Volume, plus switches for waveshape and mode (Normal/Octave/Modulated). In a circular tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Big Green Fuzz for Attractive Bass Players $75 PIC Demo Like my bazz-me-fuss-you circuit, but with a big muff tone stack, a clean blend, and optional clippers for more compression. Housed in a big round tin reinforced with recycled plastic and designed specifically for attractive bass players. Unattractive ones may not really gel with this.
Creature from the planet Chyowngg $65 PIC Demo Prototype of a unique fuzz I've been developing that I call the Chyowngg fuzz. It's a 2-stage octaver that gives a bright synthy tone with a distinctive envelope (hence the name). You can toggle each stage from octave to non-octave mode for a variety of interesting timbres. Also has a tone control, but the tone control is before the octave stages so it results in interesting behaviors depending on the switch settings. It's in a tin meant to be painted like an alien, though some say it looks more like a triceratops.
Baller Fuzz $60 PIC DEMO Another Bazz-Me-Fuss-You build with an added BMP-style tone control. In a slightly beaten-up heart-shaped basketball tin. Y'all ready for this?
Wiff Spwinkles on Top $45 PIC Demo This point-to-point fuzz lives in the same neighborhood as the Harmonic Percolator, but has a few differences. I altered the way the gain knob works, and added a switch to toggle bass cut. It's housed in an ice-creamity welly tin.
Dumbo's Bazzrite Fussrite $40 PIC Demo A bazz-fussified mosrite fuzzrite circuit I cobbled together in point-to-point wiring style. Housed in a little Dumbo puzzle tin with GLITTER! Controls are for balance (kind of tone-cum-gain) and volume.
Drives, Distortions, and Boosts
Name Price Links Notes
Bronze Drive $85 PIC Demo This is a point-to-point, transistor based overdrive I designed based loosely on the Davisson Easy Drive. Good for low-gain crunchy tones and plenty of output volume on tap if you want it for a boost. Tone circuit is like a BMP stack but with a mid hump instead of a mid cut. Housed in a painted 125B with top jacks.
Copper ZenerMorph Drive $65 PIC Demo This is an experiment in zener diode clipping. Nice crispy drive that gets beefier as you turn up the gain, lots of good edge-of-breakup tones to be had. Housed in a decorated tin reinforced with some plastic.
GOOST $65 PIC A simple JFET boost vaguely based on the Runoffgroove Fetzer valve. Switch toggles bass cut for a treble-boosting sound. Point-to-point build housed in a small tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
B is for Beast $55 PIC DEMO This fun little drive/boost consists of two cascading MOSFET gain stages with optional clipping in between. It goes from clean and loud to massive wall-of-gain distortion nicely. Controls for gain, clipping, and volume. In a small heart-shaped tin about 4in by 4in.
Shining Hope Drive $40 PIC Demo Differential mirroring drive, gives a kind of overdriven-mixer-channel distortion. Controls for gain, tone, and volume. Housed in a star-shaped Christmas tin.
Green Sparkler Boost $35 PIC Just an Escobedo Duende JFET boost built point-to-point in a sparkly little round tin. Gives a little gain and a bit of warmth to the tone.
Non-Dirt
Name Tier Links Notes
Gift of Chykka Wakka $65 PIC DEMO First build of an all-transistor envelope filter I designed. Built point-to-point style and housed in a little giftbox tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Controls for Q and Sweep, switch toggles envelope smoothing.
Vortex of Funk $65 PIC DEMO Second build of the Chykka-Wakka circuit, this one features attack, Q, and range controls. Built point-to-point and housed in a painted tin.
BZZZ BOOP BEEP $50 PIC DEMO A basic square wave oscillator on a momentary switch. Can go from bzzz to boop to beep with a sweep of the big knob. Also has tone and volume controls, and a 3-way switch for different decay amounts. Use it to simulate a spring door stopper or dying cow. Or bleep your foul-mouthed frontman. Or mess with the sound guy. Or send Morse code to the bar. I dunno. Housed in a painted tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Little Amps
Name Price Links Description
Ample iMank $65 PICS DEMO This is a Runoffgroove Ruby Amplifier built into this old multimedia speaker enclosure designed to look like an old iMac. Glows blue when you turn it on. It runs from a standard 9v pedal power. It's not terribly loud, nor terribly clean, but if you dig the classic mac vibe it might be fun. Controls for gain and volume, and a power switch on the back.
Nosy Amp $75 PICS DEMO Another solid-state amp based on the Ruby amplifier, housed in a repurposed bookshelf speaker. This one actually has pretty decent volume, even on 9V (can run on 12V as well for more), and can stay clean while getting loud enough for a quiet jam with friends.
Fleur-de-Lis Amp $90 PICS DEMO A tiny bookshelf speaker turned into a practice amp. This one features a class D power amp for lovely cleans, and a custom designed discrete preamp that gets punchy & crunchy when cranked. Runs on 9V but pretty loud nonetheless.
That's all for now. I just keep building and building, though, so there'll be more.

2024.05.21 15:46 Dreadsin How do you deal with previous job "trauma" at a new job without coming off terribly insecure or problematic?

I worked a pretty rough job for about 2 years (the company is named after a forest in Brazil/Peru). During this time, I kinda felt like I couldn't do a single thing right. I had a "mentor" who dropped me after having a meeting where he sweared a lot at me and yelled at me. My boss accused me of lying on my resume multiple times. They really liked telling me I was riiiiiiight on the edge of being PIP'd. I genuinely felt like I wasn't fit to do even junior level work writing HTML, despite having 10 years experience.
I think I also got... kinda gaslit while being there, which caused my self-esteem to drop. I was the first frontend engineer on the team and I was pretty perplexed by the frontend they wrote. In dev mode, it was 50mb and took around 2 minutes to rebuild, despite it only being ~10 pages. All the dependencies were 4+ years old. There were some bugs that were so bizarrely preventable, such as tests not running because the test was never called (e.g., `expect(blah).toBeInTheDocument`). Whenever I sent in a fix, even for a small thing, I was told to stop because I "didn't know what I was doing". I brought up that many of the bugs in our system were easily preventable and told them about how we handled it at my last job, which I felt had a really strong stack and architecture. They dismissed it out of hand, saying that since they are BigCorp, anything they do is inherently better than whatever small company I worked at before
So obviously, I just kind of... stopped doing anything. I was paralyzed to make any move because I would only receive backlash. Writing code actually started to make me very nervous and uncomfortable because I knew it would lead to a meeting where my boss would tell me I'm going to be PIP'd if I did anything like that again
All that to say, I kinda came off the job feeling absolutely incapable and totally burned out
I just joined a new job and I feel deeply afraid they're going to see me as incompetent. My first task was to write a bunch of ui components, which I did, but the whole time felt this fear in the back of my mind that I was gonna fuck up somehow and get fired
I submitted it and it was accepted easily and everyone was happy with it, but I still feel incredibly nervous, like what things am I supposed to be doing, did I do this well enough, etc etc. I ask people on the team and everyone seems to think everything is fine, no one has explicitly said any problems, but I still can't help the nervousness around it
What should I do to get over this constant anxiety?

2024.05.21 15:45 dml5055 Conceptual Question

Hi,
I have a question in regarding multiple ways to create sums of different time slices and was wondering which way is the best practice or has the best performance.
My data looks like this where it's YYYYWW where I can have sales for every week. If I wanted to create sales ly, is it better to
  1. Create a measure where I calculate the sum of the previous periods?
  2. On my date/calendaweek table, create an offset column so there are multiple columns for LY, R13, R52, MTD, QTD, etc.
  3. On the fact table, create columns of the same slices as 2.
I found that when I created a measure that wasn't based on day, and I have something like this, there weeks will populate correctly, but there will not be a total on the visual. However the current year will have the total sum visible. Any idea why that might be?
Sales = sum([Sales])
Sales LY = calculate([Sales],filter(all(calendar),calendar[year] = year - 1 && calendar[week] = week)) (example)

2024.05.21 15:43 MartyParty48 Thinking about rehoming puppy - looking for perspective and advice

I'm having some heart breaking thoughts and wondering what to do with my puppy.
My dog passed away last summer. I had her her whole life, from 16 weeks to 12 years. She was a lab greyhound mix, and she loved nothing more than to just lounge in the sun or on the couch, her entire life. I took her everywhere with me.
In the fall, I contacted a rescue about adopting. I was interested in a puppy again, but they didn't think the one I liked would be a good match for me (urban apartment). I said I was looking for a low, maybe medium energy dog who would be a good companion for the many dog-friendly places around here. They recommended a 6 month old puppy. I did a visit with the Foster family, and they also said they thought he would be a really good fit.
I have now had this dog for 7 months. There are a lot of times that I absolutely love him. But there are a few big issues making me have doubts that I'm the best forever home for him:
First, he is not at all low to medium energy like the rescue described. And that may not be their fault! I'm sure he was probably nervous in his foster home. But it didn't take long for me to realize this is a dog that needs an incredible amount of exercise/stimulation. We walk 5 miles a day, and I send him to daycare twice a week. We also do a lot of training and brain games because exercise alone would never wear him out. I did a DNA test, and it turns out he's not the lab mix that was assumed, he is a coonhound and German shorthair pointer, which explains all of the high strung energy that he has.
He has tried to bite me multiple times now. A few times were definitely resource guarding, but it is always completely random. Sometimes a toy is safe for me to grab, sometimes it's not, even if it's the same toy. He was shaking his head and I know that means he needs his ears cleaned, but he tried to bite me. I have tried moving very slowly over several days, I've tried positive reinforcement, but even getting the cloth near his face causes him to snap.
I have hired two behaviorists already (one of which the rescue recommended when I reached out about the aggression) and while we've made progress in some areas, I get sad thinking that I'm going to have to drug him forever anytime I have to groom him. At the vet, they have to fully sedate him to do his nails, or to draw blood, and he's tried to bite them as well. A muzzle protects them from him biting, but he's so frantic that it doesn't make a difference in terms of being able to work on him.
And then there's the reality that the dog I imagined having is just not the dog that I got. And I'm so conflicted. I've always been a believer that once you get a dog, that's your dog. And that you work through things. But this is a super high energy, super alert dog. I had a friend in my 20s who had a German shorthair pointer, and that dog was just a lot, and always told myself no way would I ever have a dog like that. Well, now I have one. I can't see myself ever being able to bring him places with me, because he's always tracking, howling if he smelled something good, on edge, etc. I have mostly taught him to relax in the house, but once he's outside his nose hits the ground in his ears turn off.
So yeah, I just don't know. In his foster home, he had two other dogs to play with in a fenced in yard, and I just keep imagining that wall he obviously loves me, and I love him, that he is better suited for either someone really active who runs or hikes or a family with other dogs that he can run around with.
I'm just not sure what to do. I know this will probably be a divisive thread and I might get down voted to hell. I feel so incredibly guilty even thinking about giving him back to the rescue.

2024.05.21 15:41 LongLiveTurtles Sternum pain for months

Hi all, hoping somebody can steer me into the right direction. Here are some demographics about myself first!
I am a 24 y/o male who has been experiencing chest pain particularly in the sternum location just in the middle of the chest for months, on and off not constantly. The pain is usually best described as if somebody is pushing their thumb into my sternum. Sometimes it’s sharp, but that’s rarely. The pain sometimes also branches out to the side of the sternum both left and right side usually not at the same time usually one side or the other.
I’ve mentioned this to multiple doctors before and of course since it’s pain in the chest they ran lots of tests (thankfully) I’ve gotten EKGs, blood tests to check for troponin, and D-Deimer, x-rays, I was then referred to a cardiologist who’s done multiple tests too. He’s done am echo, stress test, stress echo, holter, and even did a calcium CT scan. All came back unremarkable, he’s mentioned time he has no worries about my heart. I’ve had all these tests done within the last few months. Which I am extremely grateful for. It subsided for a few weeks probably even a month or two but now the pain comes back. it started back up three days ago. And I’m just confused what can be causing this?
I’ve gotten hit by a car when I was riding my bike back in 2019 so I was given a diagnosis of costochondritis but some physicians seems to butt heads about it and say it doesn’t last that long, and some say it can be chronic and come intermittently and have “flare ups” due to certain factors. I’ve received differential diagnosis of GI related issues as well. I’m just confused on what’s going on, I don’t want to keep being the boy who cries wolf and run for help every time I get these chest pains.
I work a desk job sadly so I feel like my posture could be a little bad? I try my best to get up and move around though, and to stretch as well.

2024.05.21 15:39 LogicalAmbassador634 Ancestry DNA surprise 🤷🏽‍♀️

I (28F) did an ancestry DNA test a few years ago, to figure out where I come from since I wasn't too familiar with my dad's side of the family. It was really cool to learn I'm part Scottish, German, Norwegian and a few others, but I hadn't really looked into the ancestry tree too hard since the initial test. I've recently decided to try and piece a tree together, and found a first cousin that I didn't recognize.
This first cousin is from my mom's side of the family. She has two brothers, one older older than her and one younger than her. My oldest uncle had 3 kid's while my youngest uncle had 3 biological kids, and adopted 2 when he married. I racked my brain hard to figure out who this mystery cousin is, but ultimately asked my mom who was absolutely clueless until I showed her how this mystery cousin fell into the tree.
She explained that years ago, as my youngest uncle was getting ready to get married, he found out he was the father of two young kids, by two different women. This really shocked my aunt and almost stopped their marriage. They had a big argument and she asked if there were any other kids and he promised her no. Weeelll, another women stepped up a little while later and said that her son was my uncle's. He argued over and over that he was not the father, but ultimately had to pay child support for a few years until the mother stated she was wrong, and he was not the father. During that time, he had no contact with the child. Finally happy to put that behind him, he never pursued answers and was happy to live out his life with the kids he was aware of.
My mom believes this mystery cousin is that child. We're both shocked.
I have no other close family members that have taken the test to my knowledge, as they have not popped up in my DNA matches, so I believe my mom and I are the only two people that know about this mystery child. Funny enough, this child is friends with his biological half brothers on Facebook, but not my Uncle. I don't know if they know that they are related. There is a family event coming up later this weekend where I'll be around my uncle. Should I bring this to his attention or hold onto this secret for the rest of my life?

2024.05.21 15:38 IntroductionFirst434 Study guide

Is this book ok to prepare for SAT? I’m not from US and in my country students don’t take this exam so I don’t have the opportunity to prepare for the exam at school. Also, would rather prefer a book than an Internet source

2024.05.21 15:37 filmorebuttz Quick tip for beginners that's really been helping me out.

This advice isn't coming from a pro. I'm newer to chess - I'm anywhere from a 180-800 rating on chess.com depending on the timeframe. Ive really been diving in, playing a lot of chess with the intention of getting good recently though.
I play everything from bullet to blitz to rapid to daily multiple times a day. At least 5-10 games a day on average and I keep 3-5 dailys open at all time. I've been studying chess ideas and tactics. Trying to learn what all I can. Which has been helping but I'm definitely a hands on learner, which I'm sure a lot of you will agree.
So what's the best thing that's been helping me to get to 80%< accuracy consistently recently?
Chess.com has this practice openings thing where you can play the opening or go against the opening. You can set the strength of the bot and play from there. When you play you can use the analysis tool that will tell you in real time if that was a good move or not. From there you can explore different tactics and openings, use hints to find the best move when you don't know and overall learn in a hands on way how to do these openings.
I've use it on like a 1200-1500 rating (which I swear is like a 2500 rating because one blunder or inaccuracy and the games lost) and I play through ideas I have with certain openings and see why my move is a bad move 5-10 moves later, go back to the bad move and find a better idea and play through that. The bot doesn't ever really play the same moves every time and stays fluid so it helps me to stay fluid with the idea and not just memorizing the moves. It's been helping me out so much since I've been using this tool.
I hope this helps someone else out. The bot can be brutal but in a great way.
Cheers.

2024.05.21 15:36 Djgraffiti99 LGBTQ+ Why?

LGBTQ+ Why?
L is Lesbian means only likes pussy G is Gay means only likes Dick B is Bisexual means likes dick or pussy T is Trans has nothing to do with LGB as it’s sexual preference can be anything + is mentally confused trying to be edgy try hards
Who cares about your sexual preferences, why do people feel the need to flaunt it around kids and in public about their sexual preferences flags? I’d be just as annoyed seeing straight pride flags, especially around kids. Whatever your sexual preferences are that’s your business and cool you like what you like as long as it doesn’t harm anyone but why shove it in everyone’s faces especially kids and make excuses defending it?
Help me understand why…
