I had taken spin classes before in Germany and it was fun but Cyclebar hits different ya’all. I moved to LA in 2023 not knowing a single soul, thought I’d join a fitness class to get in shape and make some friends. And quite serendipitously, found a CB a couple of blocks away from my place. From the first class itself, I was hooked and signed up for the unlimited package right away.
Saying I looked forward to going everyday would be understatement. That has never been the case with any workout I’ve ever done. Most days I would be so excited I’d arrive 30mins early and would have to go walk around the block before entering the studio lol. Everyone was so friendly, I made friends and would dm back and forth with the trainers as well. Also, as a lonely, single het guy, being surrounded by all these health conscious women didn’t hurt too haha. I even invested in workout clothes and planned my outfits for each day. I did 240+ classes in my 10 months in the US and I swear I had FOMO on the days my legs wont let me go.
By the end of November, I was in fantastic shape! I was eating whatever I wanted, my endurance levels were off the charts and my resting heart rate was that of a professional distance runner. CB also gave me hope for my golden years. As a former fat kid, I always assumed I would gain the weight back as I got older because everyone gets a belly in their 50s and 60s right? But with CB being so fun and easy on my joints, I thought I had a real shot at being a hot grandpa someday haha. Not just fitness, CB also helped me broaden my music taste as well and my playlists are now triple the size they were before CB.
Sadly, my life went to shit pretty soon. I got laid off in November and had to leave the US due to an expired work visa. I still remember how I bawled my eyes out on the way home after my last CB ride. Having the life I had built for myself taken away from me has been brutal but I am trying to fight back. I have spent the last 6 months talking to lawyers so I can get a visa so that I can then look for a job in the US. It would make so much sense to just stay in Europe but I am old and my heart is set on LA and this one CB studio. I cant wait to get back. You better believe I would be the happiest lad in all of US the day I get to ride in CB again.

My store has a lot of long time employees too. Like, they've been there 4+ years. And every single one of us has been making shaken espressos wrong. The new dm brought us into multiple mini meetings to express this (and other things) and ig she thought we were doing it our way cuz we were trying to cut corners or something. So weve been putting the syrup and ice in the shaker glass first then pouring the shots over it and shaking. Apparently you're supposed to put the shots in first. Then the ice. Which is news to literally all of us. So PSA to baristas, shaken espressos go syrup, shots, then ice, then cinnamon if its brown sugar.

Morgan Sanson (CM - OGC Nice)

• 4 goals and 3 assists in a season where Nice got to the quarters of the French cup and finished 5th in Ligue 1, meaning they will play in the Conference League next season.
• Already completed permanent move to OGC Nice.

Philippe Coutinho (AM - Al Duhail)

• Only 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 league appearances, in a season where Al Duhail finished 6th out of 12.

Leander Dendoncker (DM, Napoli)

• Only made 3 cameos from the bench. Not a good time for him it seems.

Viljami Sinisalo (GK - Exeter City)

• Has been Exeter's first choice keeper all season in a season they finished 13th - comfortably mid-table.
• Conceded 59 goals, and kept 13 clean sheets in 45 league games, which I would say is pretty good.
• Picked up 6 awards at their end of season awards, including Fan's POTY and Player's POTY!

Filip Marschall (GK - MK Dons)

• Loaned out in January. Played 6 league and 3 cup games without a clean sheet. Conceded 5 to Sutton United in the play off semi-final 2nd leg.
• Highlight of his season has to be his full Villa debut in the 1-1 draw with Zjrinski Mostar.

Women's Team

Olivia McLoughlin (DM - Rangers)

• Loaned since January.
• 6 clean sheets in 15 appearances, as Rangers came a close second to Celtic, who won the title with a goal in the 90th minute this weekend.

Freya Gregory (CM - Reading)

• Loaned first half of the season, scoring 2 goals in 11 appearances.
• Recalled in January.

Kaine Kesler Hayden (RWB - Plymouth Argyle)

This is an update post to my original post from yesterday.
Princess' Escalated Support reached out to me this morning. Of all the many things that I tried, what worked was a twittesocial media post I made out of pure desperation, with @princesscruises in the request. Almost immediately I received a DM on twitter asking for my booking info and setting up a call for today. At 11AM I received that call.
The support person was friendly, helpful, and clear. Despite the fault being my own, they were kind enough to rebook me on an identical cruise a month from now while only charging me the nominal difference of the promotion I had grabbed on the original cruise. I did have to eat the original flights and buy new flights, but that loss is manageable and the family and I still get to have the cruise experience we had hoped for this summer!
I am so very grateful to everyone that reached out to me here on reddit and also to Princess for (eventually) reaching out to me, despite the fault and responsibility for this being my own. I am overwhelmed by the support I received!
One redditor provided me with information to a place in Juneau that was able to contact the logistics team directly on the Discovery Princess ship in order to answer the question of whether or not I could meet the ship at port (I could not unfortunately, but still!).
Another redditor offered me a free cruise that they may not have time to use this season before it expires. Amazingly selfless. Your generosity is overwhelming and humbling, to say the least! Thank you all for the support. It has meant so much to me and to my family during a dark moment in our lives.
Thankfully I found resolution. The extra cost is a hard, but well earned, lesson for me. One that I will never forget. I have already booked a hotel room the night before the flight next to the airport. I've got everyone in the family on the same page - 3 HOURS before. I also paid for the premiere insurance for all of us. I'm going to read over their policy carefully.

I'll start by talking about VRP (volatility risk premium). Assuming you haven't already heard the term put simply its a form of compensation for taking on an asset's downside risk (e.g. PUT skew on SPY).
In mathematical terms VRP can be expressed as: VRP = Implied volatility - Expected volatility.
Now the reason why its not just as simple as selling puts on spy every month and making a shit ton of money is because the VRP is not always there or might not be big enough to give you a positive expected value. So now you need a way to determine when and when not too sell those puts. Most people you sell options use IVR (Implied volatility rank) or IV% (Implied volatility percentile) as indicators as to whether or not the VRP is there. The basic theory is that historically implied volatility is usually higher than realised volatility, therefore high IVR and IV% means there will be VRP. This is not wrong, however, using just this method alone means that there will be times when you make a trade thinking that VRP is high but there isn't. I used this method for my first 2 years.
Now to talk about what's in the title, using the Black Scholes option pricing model to locate VRP. For those who don't know what the Black Scholes model is here is a quick explanation: Developed by Fischer Black, Robert Merton and Myron Scholes the Black Scholes model is a mathematical equation created to estimate the theoretical value of financial derivatives (particularly options contract). There are 5 different input variables that are necessary for the BS model they are:
Current price of the underlying asset = (S)
Strike price of contract = (K)
Time till expiration % of a year = (T)
Risk Free interest rate = (R)
Volatility = (σ)
There are a few this to note about the Black Scholes model first is that the model relies on a few key fundamentals which are that the Asset prices follow a lognormal distribution with constant drift and volatility and the market consists of one risk free asset and one risky. Secondly this model was created mainly to price European style options like futures options and not the American style options we see on US stocks having said that using this model for American style options is better than just using IVIV%, but a better model to use for that would be the Bjerksund-Stensland Model which focuses specifically on determining the American call value at early exercise however this can be adapted to price puts as well. (There's also no harm in using both Black Scholes and Bjerksund-Stensland)
The equation for the Black Scholes model is a bit long but here it is:
C = S_0 N(d_1)-Ke^-rt N(d_2)
P= Ke^-rt N(-d_2)-S_0 N(-d_1)
d_1 and d_2 calculations are as follows:
d_1 = ln(S_0/K)+(r+σ^2/2)*T / (σ*T^0.5)
d_2 = d_1-σ*T^0.5
My main goal for this post isn't to teach anyone reading this how to actually create and use the Black Scholes model but more so to make you aware of its existence, show you that you can do this too (not just the rich and wealthy on wall street) and finally to share what I know in order to build a solid foundation for learning about it.
