problem with extended visa - (virgin) passport with no stamps ..

2024.05.21 23:43 Shao_Ling problem with extended visa - (virgin) passport with no stamps ..

sorry for asking about that, probably the 117419th time
anyways. here goes.
my passport (Canada) was expiring on August 23rd 2023 and my 180-day tourism stamp was expiring August 12th.
near the end of June, I asked fort a new passport from the Canadian embassy in CDMX.
it took forever and it finally arrived mid-September 2023.
-- in the first days of August, before the tourism stamp expired, I went to the local INM office in Huatulco to ask for advice, what should I do? they told me that because my passport was about to expire, they couldn't do anything, that I would have to return with my new passport and they would see what they could do.
walking into an INM office with an expired visa is the last thing that would come to mind, I know, but eh.. like a chicken walking into a KFC feeling.
so, basically, today, I've got a passport with no entry stamp, nothing, and the old expired passport.
my main concern, obviosuly, is the risk of being detained and deported.
I mean, the odds of being stopped in a taxi or a ecotour-private tour van are pretty low, but I'm just stressing balls right now.
I've contacted a lawyer on the recommendation of a reliable friend. I contacted the Mexican embassy in Canada to see if there was something that I could do. like pay for a visitor visa with permission to work (429$), print it, and have it stamped here or something like that, as well as the receipt
my questions, apart from wtf should I do... if I started the process de get the temp residency, the first 1.702 pesos payment, and wait for their assessment of the fine (2nd payment as per the INM website), would I be like immune to detention/deportation because I'm "in the process"?
I know if I was in Quintana Roo or CDMX, the odds of being controlled are super high. coast of Oaxaca? I don't know..
help :*(

2024.05.21 18:55 MeMuzzta Bolt driver bro

Other night I had a tad too many sangsoms. Woke up the next morning and realised my phone was lost. Logged onto Facebook on my laptop to 26 missed calls from my gf. Anyway I knew for a fact I had left it in the bolt taxi. I logged into my email to look at the bolt receipt and found the drivers name. Searched on Facebook and found the driver.
I sent him a message and within 2 minutes he messaged back that he does have my phone and he will bring it back to me but it won’t be for a while as he was in Bangkok (80 odd miles away from me).
He brought it back for me a few hours later and I couldn’t thank him enough so gave him a generous tip.
Bro saved me from a biblical headache. Not the headache from my gf and hangover however lol.

2024.05.21 17:30 OfficialMadesh Staying in Athens for 4ish days to see Coldplay, what's the best way to get around?

Hello all!
I will be flying to Athens from London on the morning of June 6th, and I'll be staying there until June 10th, where I will be flying back home at night, so pretty much 5 full days.
My main reason for going to Athens is to see Coldplay on the 8th and 9th, but my biggest concern is getting around Athens.
My hotel is the Vincci Ever Eden Beach Resort in 'Athens - Sounion Av. 47th km, Anavissos 190 13, Greece' , according to google. The concert will be held in the Olympic Stadium in Marousi, which according to Uber is a 40-60EUR taxi fare, which is not really something I want to have to pay. I am not familiar with public transport in Athens and the internet is telling me conflicting things.
What is the best and most cost effective way to get from my resort, to the stadium and back? Bearing in mind the concert will most likely end late. If there is no form of public transport at those times I'll just have to firm the Taxi, but I'd rather not.
Thanks for your time!

2024.05.21 11:56 SensitiveSpot5539 Tempistiche mutuo e notaio

SkyTrain at Tokyo. Returning back to Narita from my Airbnb. I also only walked or took trains for the rest of the trip.
As the title says. I took a 10 day vacation in Japan, covering Osaka, Kyoto, and mostly Tokyo. I'm very amazed by how accessible everything is by train. I am not car-centric in any way (having used trains a lot of the times in Singapore), but I would always consider a taxi as a last resort. As it turns out, I don't even need that!
The SkyTrain is amazing. It goes at a consistent 120 km/h for most of the journey with no worries for the traffic jams, and as you can see in the picture, the leg room is plentiful! The second screenshot is a comparison of this train fare (along with other methods), compared to the standard taxi (which I'll probably need to pay more for a bigger cab because of all our luggage).
In short - amazing trains. Really top notch stuff. <3

Rare Not For Resale Obtained
Deleted original post because I forgot to show the game lol. Let’s try again.
I’m in the U.S and this wasn’t released here. Had to get off of eBay from overseas. It’s rarely listed and I believe it comes as a pack-in game from a bundle.
I collect Crazy Taxi so I had to have it and had been on the hunt for one a few months now once I found it existed.
Scans are because I’ve seen it without the artwork and you can print it if you like. The last scan is a PNG of that helps as well.
Not sure if there’s anything different like version number but games are region free so I’ll check it out soon.

2024.05.20 23:21 marchills Post Trip Report 5/14-5/18

Hi everyone! I’ve seen a few post-trip reports here and figured I’d share my own since I’ve used this subreddit quite a bit to plan our trip. Sorry in advance for formatting (did this on mobile) and for the length.
TUESDAY 5/14 * Arrived 7pm * Dinner at Paladar 511 8:30pm * Ordered the tuna crudo, carrots, gnocchi, squid ink spaghetti, pork belly, margherita pizza, and coffee ice cream. * This was honestly our favorite dinnemeal the entire trip, those carrots rocked our world. Service was also phenomenal.
WEDNESDAY 5/15 * Coffee and pastries at Mammoth Espresso 9am * WWII Museum 9:30am * This was incredibly moving. We aren’t huge on museums, but we can totally see why people say you could spend an entire day (and more) there. We stayed for about 3-4 hours. * Lunch at Cochon Butler, ordered the muffuletta, house chips and a Mexican coke. Super yummy and refreshing! * Took the Streetcar to Louisiana and walked to Magazine St to do a little bit of shopping. * Notable cute shops include Shake Your Bon Bon, Fluerty Girl, Lionsheart, and Petcetera. * Took an Uber to City Park, went to Cafe du Monde and walked around the sculpture garden. That park is MASSIVE and gorgeous! * Took the streetcar back to the hotel. We decided to go workout at the hotel gym, then go up to the rooftop bar. The views were nice, the drinks were yummy! Service was a little weird though, bartenders didn’t know the “signature” drinks. * Dinner at Pêche 8:45pm * THIS WAS SO GOOD. We got the steak tartare, crispy broccoli, whole fish, beets, brussel sprouts, and salted caramel cake. That steak tartare was INSANE. Brussel sprouts could’ve been a little crunchier but they were still good! Service again was awesome. Everyone is so nice here!
THURSDAY 5/16 * Got an Irish coffee at St. Pat Irish Coffeehouse to start the day 🤪. * Bartendebarista was SO nice, gave us a few tips on how to navigate Bourbon as that was our first activity of the day. * Walked to Cafe Beignet to get something to soak up the alcohol. * Beignets taste even more delicious while drunk! Who would’ve thought! * Walked along Bourbon St to the LaLaurie Mansion, then to the Woldenberg Riverfront Park. * Streetcar to Magazine St again, shopped at Stella Dallas, and grabbed lunch at Guy’s. * The fried shrimp poboy was pretty good but because we were REALLY excited for them, it was a little disappointing. * Streetcar to Frenchmen St, went to Spotted Cat Music Club, great music and delicious drinks. * Streetcar to Restaurant R’evolution, dinner reservation at 8:30pm. * We booked this as our wedding anniversary dinner and the food was great. We got the blue crab beignets, the pig out board, filet mignon with mushrooms on the side, seasonal fish with asparagus on the side, and the lemon tart. * The dining experience was a little strange for us, they didn’t give us the food menu right away. Instead, we were presented with the drink menu. We were already planning on getting a drink but it felt weird to be shown JUST the drinks. Also, they unfolded our napkins and laid them on our laps for us? We’ve never had that happen anywhere lol. Despite those quirks, it was still a great and memorable meal.
FRIDAY 5/17 * Breakfast at Two Chicks Cafe * Went back to the hotel to figure out flights. * Unfortunately Southwest delayed our first flight which would’ve led to us missing our second. Thankfully, we were able to book flights for the next day and extend our hotel stay. I think the delays were weather related because there was a crazy thunderstorm Thursday night. * Took a bus to Magazine St, got coffee from Whatever Coffee (great coffee btw!!) and did some more shopping at Trashy Diva and fp movement. Then grabbed lunch at Saba. The classic hummus was SO CREAMY. Their beets were great and the fried chicken was awesome. * Bus to Compere Lapin for dinner, reservation at 8:30pm. * Ordered the biscuits, tuna ceviche, curried goat, and the mango crème brûlée. * So the food was good, but I don’t think it lived up the hype. I was really excited to go to Nina’s restaurant as a Top Chef fan, but the service left a sour taste for me. * The service here was actually pretty bad. People were pretty unfriendly and it seemed like people were just walking around the dining room with dishes and not knowing what table they belonged to. After going to so many other places where the service had been nothing short of fabulous, this was a letdown.
SATURDAY 5/18 * Travel day! Checked out of the hotel around 7:30am and got a taxi back to the airport.
All in all, this was a fabulous wedding anniversary trip. We went through receipts and it looks like for two people, over the course of 4-5 days, we spent about $1200 (food, drinks, souvenirs, bus/ubetaxi).

2024.05.20 20:09 Any-Tale-4692 How do I access my FareLock reservation?

I made a FareLock reservation 6 days ago and I finally got paid, so I’m able to purchase the flight. Only problem is that I cannot find any way to do so. I have tried searching everywhere to access it, but haven’t figured it out. This is the only email I’ve received about it, and it’s from the day I made the reservation. I’ve tried looking up the receipt on the United website and there’s nothing. There’s no links on the email either. Any advice helps at this point. I have maybe 22 hours left until it expires.

2024.05.20 17:50 javibeme Fighting the wrong battle imo

I really wish most drivers would petion to put a cap on what uber takes, like restaurants did. We are not hourly and need to get away from that mindset. It's why rates are so low imo. Uber is campaigning as a tech company, but drawing 50% plus from fares is the problem. If drivers pushed to lock that percentage to a reasonable rate, let's say to be nice 30% including passenger insurance. We collectively would be making what I feel is a fair wage for drivers. Most of my buddies are truckers and owner operators, which we basically are paying between 22% and 30% to the company that provide them insurance. This is my personal opinion on the matter and coming from taxi work in the past.
