Hi, I don’t post on Reddit much but I’m feeling hopeless. Sorry in advance for the poor grammar and jumbled thoughts, I’m writing this all as it comes to my mind and I don’t care about making it make sense. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years, and we used to not have distance. Last summer he moved 3 hours away to live with his dad due to some family issues. We went from seeing each other every day to seeing each other once a month (if we’re lucky). I have BPD and struggle with severe attachment issues and abandonment issues, and these worsened with the distance. No matter how much he reassures me, I still believe he’ll randomly meet someone someday and fall out of love with me. Last weekend he graduated high school which really made me realize how much everything is changing. He’s a grade above me, meaning I still have a full year left of school while he will be starting college. It feels like I’m being left behind. This has been making me feel horrible due to my fear of abandonment. On top of this we live two completely different lifestyles. His family is very well off and he has a full ride to college, whereas my mom makes $1500 a month which is gone in a week due to bills and food, and the rest of the month we scrape by. I feel awful being jealous of him and his achievements, I just want to support him but my jealousy gets in the way. I really love him and I want us to work, and he tells me the same, but I can’t help but be terrified all the time. My anxiety has been crippling lately and I turn this into anger causing arguments between us. It feels like I don’t know him anymore and I’m just someone from his “past life” even though he says that’s not true. I just feel like everything is changing and the distance is separating us. I just want advice or for people to share their own experiences. Again I apologize for this being all over the place, my emotions are very high right now.

I'm tired of the last-minute emails about whether work can be turned in after the final grade is posted, or emails that totally ignore what is clearly stated in the syllabus, or emails that expect me to answer within an hour or two on a weekend, or with an overly rude tone.
I'm thinking about giving a third of a grade point for professional behavior, which could include appropriate politeness in interpersonal interactions with me and with other students and possibly attendance, among others.
Would this fly where you work? Thoughts?

I wrote a rhyming children's story, but I need some help with determining the grade level of some of the words. Some of the words are advanced/ not used in everyday language, so for those words I plan on doing a word glossary in the back of the book. I made a list of every word that could be challenging and found a document that had lists of words for grades 2-6. A fair amount were 5th and 6th grade words but there is still a decent amount unaccounted for. Instead of going through the rest of the lower grades, I'd love some help from middle school and even elementary school teachers in helping me understand what words should be listed in the glossary. My target audience is 6th grade plus I guess. I don't want a massive amount of words that have to be looked up so I'm thinking about cutting the words 6th grade and lower (my reasoning is that if 6th graders are learning the grade 6 words they won't need to look those up?). if this was your child’s second time being encouraged to go to summer school would you have them evaluated by a doctor to see if they have a learning disability?

TLDR: gross misconduct during exams by invigilators. I reported a case where I could hear a students answers (he has access arrangements and needed to vocally say his answers and have someone else write them) which risks potential cheating. Do I risk losing my qualifications and everyone else’s (that was present)?
I’ve just finished by BTEC and AS exams at college and the conduct of the invigilators was gross. For context, I have access arrangements (extra time, rest breaks and access to a word processocomputer to type my work) for personal reasons so I’m in a smaller room with others that also use access arrangements (separate from the main exam in the main hall).
Here’s the misconduct seen in each of the 4 exams of this series:
1st (Applied Law - BTEC) - invigilator began playing music from his phone, presumably tiktok-like music.
2nd (Sociology Paper 1 - AS Level) - (1) invigilator didn’t provide me with a word processor and delayed the start of the exam by 20 minutes later than we should’ve started in order to check my eligibility for this and set up my computer when this was confirmed. (2) only one invigilator was present, meaning that he had to make several phone calls IN the exam room whilst the exam was taking place - not even whispering - in order to ask teachers to come and help with something quickly etc. (3) printing was done all throughout the exam which, when dealing with vulnerable people susceptible to distractions, is inappropriate as the printer was very loud. My high school had a separate room for printing because of this.
After this exam, I contacted my head of year to complain. She said she’d speak to the teachers.
3rd (Applied Psychology - BTEC) - phone calls were made again, teachers talking loudly when they shouldn’t be, half of the students taking different exams to me weren’t provided with the resource booklet they needed and students’ access arrangements were improperly recorded - all of this delayed the start time by 30 minutes.
4th (Sociology Paper 2 - AS Level) - this was today. Phone calls made all throughout AGAIN. And a student had tech issues with their laptop, this was dealt with inside the room instead of outside (whilst everyone else had started the exam) causing 30 minutes of running around, loud talking, etc. before the student was taken into a small room connected to the main room (I was sitting directly next to the door to this room) so he could vocally say his answers and have a teacher write them for him - I could hear everything, which is distracting and risks people cheating. The invigilator knew how much u could hear it as he checked on them by standing directly behind me.
I reported all of this - as the last issue involves a risk of cheating, do I risk losing my qualifications over the college’s misconduct? I also don’t want to be the cause of the other students’ qualifications becoming void either. (Note: the invigilators aren’t professional invigilators - they’re casual teachers at the college)

I'm looking for anyone with recent experience or knowledge with the Oklahomas job corp. Which one is the best?
My son went to the one in Tahlequah (Talking Leaves) in early/mid 2000, at that time it was the best one here in the state. He stayed for 8 months, I believe. He enjoyed it and he got his state high school diploma.
Now, I have a grandson who has been in trouble.
Since January he has been at the Thunderbird academy in Pryor and has done wonderfully and has caught up on all his school work and will be able to attend his original grade next year. But unfortunately Thunderbird academy is only temporary and he will be sent home next month. Which him coming home isn't a bad thing it's the school he will have to return to that is the problem.
My grandson has made a name for himself and it isn't a good name. He has always been in trouble, acting out, very disrespectful to teachers, staff anyone who is a authority figure.

My history : till age of 14 I used wet the bed not every day but like 3 days in week in my 15 and 16 I used wet the bed like once in 5-6 months from last 2 years I have not wet the bed ( no medication taken throught my life not even visited urologist ) last year one find day I had this frequent urge to pee like I went to washroom came again on bed and then after 3-4 mins again had urge to pee but now very less amount like finishing in 7-8 secs( idk if it's weird) this problem was not continuous like it happend only 2 -3 times in whole year lasted only for a day . ( Also In my childhood ( when I was in 3rd or 4 th grade ..I had to control the pee for hour or so due to travel or strict teacher in school)
Present : now coming to present I still do get occational frequent urges to pee in small amounts but it last only for 30 mins or less and then disappears for months. ( But I feel this happens on specifically those days when I drink lots of water I one sitting most probably after lunch )
•Problem( why am I writing this?- So next month I am going to have a medical test for a job which will contain blood and urine test .. I being huge overthinkiner and anxiety person thinks what if urine test tells me I have prostate cancer ( bcz I have been have this issues like bedwetting and etc 👆since childhood ) and I get rejected for job , my alk exam prep will go in vain ) this thought of overthinkking is killing me every single day and I am not able to concentrate on my exam next week which will qualify me for medical test .
Every day I just wish that somehow my urine test comes normal and after I get my job I find out I have something serious or not bcz after getting job I can treat it without losing job - overthinkers mind

People in this city and sub act like the police in this area are born and bred to become the stereotype of a trigger-happy, power-hungry, minority-hating collective of fascists who are hell bent on controlling what happens in Burlington to their liking with total disregard for what we may consider “good” police work.
Is it a job that is well compensated? For public servant standards, maybe. But please consider this. The people who are hired to be police officers and go through training are just regular people from wildly different backgrounds. These are not always your typical ROTC kids who always dreamed of being a cop and shoving law and order up peoples asses. I bet if people on this sub actually had conversations with police in the Burlington area they would be surprised what their life journey looked like.
Now their job. Can you imagine what their day is filled with? Junkies who are committing crime that they must arrest and then let back out due to cash bail. What kind of job satisfaction do you think this generates? Being harassed, defunded and disrespected by the community, dealing with needles, overdoses, calls from business owners and citizens asking for help which they know they can’t provide? The city they serve are filled with citizens who are at a minimum, leery and suspicious of law enforcement. At maximum, cheerful when anything bad happens to a police officer. They go around in our community facing violence from fists, objects, blades, guns and everything in between. Child abuse, spousal abuse, being the babysitter for drunk idiots on church street and beyond…etc. etc.
I think police officers have a very stressful and hopeless job of arresting criminals in a revolving door, and I am thankful for the work they do in the community to try and keep people and property safe. There are some officers in the Burlington area that historically have not been doing good police work and abusing their authority. This is ALSO true for teachers, mental health professionals, government administrators etc. Do we write off those entire professions as fundamentally toxic and to be reviled? I would hope not. Does being sympathetic to the plight of police officers in this area make me a bootlicker? Fine. I’m a boot licker.

TLDR: my daughter’s band instructor is sexist and racist but he keeps it to micro aggressions, so it’s super hard to prove.
This is a rant about my daughter’s (12f ) band instructor . I want to start out by saying I know these types of sexist and racist micro aggressions are not things that can really be brought up with the school, but nevertheless I don’t feel comfortable with an adult man saying them in front of a room full of preteens and young teens. I’m also very sad for the kids who live with sexist and racist stereotypes at home and then come to school and have them normalized by people like my daughter’s teacher.
So, on to the story. Yesterday my daughter came home from school and stood me that her band teacher’s wife was out of town and had been for several weeks, because her mother is on hospice care and she wants to be with her.
We had a discussion about how sad that is and related it to her great grandmother who is also currently in hospice. But then my daughter told me that the only reason her teacher mentioned this was because he looked a bit disheveled and felt the need to apologize. ( he’s the type of man who wears a 3 piece suit and meticulously styles his mustache with wax daily, to teach public school band)
He apologized that his wife was out of town, and he didn’t know how to work the laundry machine and he didn’t know where the dry cleaner is. He added to this very sad account, by stating that he doesn’t cook and the only food left in his house is granola bars. Bet he’s happy because his wife will be home soon to handle his laundry, go shopping and cook real food.
Later in the same class period, he told a white boy, who had decided to yell the N-Word across the band room, that the N- word isn’t really a bad word but we shouldn’t say it because it offends some people.
Obviously this is incorrect, there is a deep history of uses of the n-word to dehumanize , devalue, harass and other people of color. Allowing any child to think that it’s just a little offensive to some people , but not a big deal is beyond disgusting to me.
First: this is deeply disrespectful to his wife. Imagine coming home from spending weeks at your mother’s death bed, only to discover that your husband is apparently a toddler who can’t preform basic adult functions. And then having to mother him.
Second : This is infantilizing boys at a very impressionable age, it teaches them that they don’t have to be responsible for themselves.
Third: it devalues women and girls, implying t hey are only here to serve boys and men.
I’ve you’ve gotten this far, thank you. I’m just upset with society today.

3rd (Applied Psychology - BTEC) - phone calls were made again, teachers talking loudly when they shouldn’t be, half of the students taking different exams to me weren’t provided with the resource booklet they needed and students’ access arrangements were improperly recorded - all of this delayed the start time by 30 minutes.
4th (Sociology Paper 2 - AS Level) - this was today. Phone calls made all throughout AGAIN. And a student had tech issues with their laptop, this was dealt with inside the room instead of outside (whilst everyone else had started the exam) causing 30 minutes of running around, loud talking, etc. before the student was taken into a small room connected to the main room (I was sitting directly next to the door to this room) so he could vocally say his answers and have a teacher write them for him - I could hear everything, which is distracting and risks people cheating. The invigilator knew how much u could hear it as he checked on them by standing directly behind me.
I reported all of this - as the last issue involves a risk of cheating, do I risk losing my qualifications over the college’s misconduct? I also don’t want to be the cause of the other students’ qualifications becoming void either. (Note: the invigilators aren’t professional invigilators - they’re casual teachers at the college)

i know that in film major portfolio is a really important part so i'll be working on that during the summer. i have a lot of short film ideas, but not a single scenario yet. i'll film one short film and try to make it as perfect as possible, because i know a short film is required to apply to most top film schools (like nyu)
additionally, i know Spanish (~B1-B2), and French (~A2)
i'm planning to write my ps essay on either rejection from FLEX exchange program and how it motivated me, or how i am a naturally extremely shy and interverted person but i had to overcome my fears to reach my goals
i know my application is kinda strange, cuz it has a lot of things mixed all together, and some things are not even started yet. i'm esp stressed about my portfolio

- competitive contemporary dance for 3 years. participant of world of dance ukraine 2023, team division (those are really prestigious dance competitions, international level), and semi finalist of world of dance ukraine 2024 team division (top 12). our team also won a $1000 scholarship for taking the 1st place on national level competition and 2 times we won the second place
- actor and assistant on the film set at the biggest film studio in Eastern Europe. i starred in a short film, and worked with a professional cameraman, screenwriter and director. i also visited a lot of meetings and workshops at that film studio
- freelancer, video editor. worked for clients from Eastern Europe and Canada for 1,5 years. edited videos in English, helped to improve their youtube channel
- volunteer tutor online. tutor kids from occupied territories, explain the school subjects to them, because it's really hard for kids to take school seriously because of war. i also tutor english and spanish
- school government, media committee. run the school's social media account, edit, film videos, etc. now something that is in progress:
- non-profit international organization, which runs 4 online clubs in 4 creative fields (creative writing/fashion/design and drawing/film and media).it is also a platform for international communication, creating and spreading opportunities for people interested in art. i'm a founder. however, i'm just starting it and looking for people, so it isn't really working yet
- international MUN enthusiast. i got a $1000 scholarship for CWMUN in emirates and going there in october. idk if it can be considered an activity, but i also participated in MUN in my city

2024.05.21 20:03 Typhonoid The new "survival" difficulty options are great, but a few additions could create an even better experience.
I really love the new update for the game, and it's got me excited for what's to come next. I'm at NG+ 12 (lost count honestly), with a lot of hours logged, and I've got a lot of feedback for what would make the game a lot better. I know some of this has been said on this subreddit already, but I think it's worth saying again in the hopes that Bethesda is reading this while they start working on the next big update.
First, I would love a more difficult hunger and thirst mechanic, similar to Fallout 4 and New Vegas. In the current update, you either gain a static buff or debuff, depending on whether your character is satisfied or hungry/thirsty. However, Fallout 4 and NV had systems where the debuff got worse if you went longer and longer without food/water, up until player death. IMO this added much more depth to the game, and Starfield would be far more interesting if it had this as an option. This could be implemented as just another option on the sustenance difficulty settings, perhaps an "extreme" mode. A harsher sustenance system would also incentivize players to use outposts to generate crafting ingredients for food.
Second, we need the ability to scrap weapons and spacesuits for parts and materials. Currently, there is little incentive to pick up 99% of weapons and spacesuits that you find. An ability to scrap equipment at relevant workbenches would give the player an incentive to actually pick these up, because they can be a source of valuable parts that can be used to craft other things, just like how it works in Fallout 4. Additionally, it would be great if we could also upgrade lower-tier weapons/spacesuits ('refined', etc.) into higher-tier (advanced, etc.).
Third, I would love the ability to craft spaceship parts/modules/habs at outpost ship builders. It's great that we can purchase parts at spaceports, but the game is missing a great opportunity for a crafting system. I want the ability to spend (large) quantities of raw materials and rare parts to craft new modules for my ship. For balancing purposes, these ship modules should cost a lot of resources. For further balancing, and to encourage outpost usage, I also think that the ship module crafting should be limited to outpost shipbuilder landing pads only. I think this could also pair nicely with scrapable weapons and spacesuits, since you could scrap guns for rare parts that can be used for crafting a better ship cannon, for example. Also, I want the ability to scrap spaceship parts/modules/habs for materials and parts as well. I want to be able to take a ship that I salvaged/hijacked and scrap it for parts that I can use to craft habs for my other ships.
Finally, and I know this has been said here before, but I really think this game needs to add in the ship fuel mechanic that we all know they were working on but removed. This could also be an optional difficulty setting. FTL travel from system to system should spend some portion of your fuel reserves. How much fuel is spent should depend on how far the destination is, but also your ship build. For example, more expensive grav drives could improve fuel efficiency, but increasing your ship's mass too much could reduce fuel efficiency. Of course, adding more fuel tanks could increase fuel capacity. This could be as simple as adding a panel to the cockpit that functions as a container that only accepts He-3, and allows the player to deposit or withdraw He-3.
There are probably other features that could improve the game that I'm not thinking of, but these are the ones that I personally feel would make the game way better. I know Bethesda's team reads this subreddit so I am writing this post specifically for their eyes. Thanks for reading!

Hello all. I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with ADHD by a professional and prescribed medications with which I have had varying levels of success (vyvanse works but screws my sleep, strattera doesn't work and makes me exhausted, and azstarys is the most tolerable currently because I can sleep on it but it doesn't work nearly as well as vyvanse for my symptoms)
I was diagnosed late in life at 25 because my """giftedness""" (hate that term) made me do ok in grade school, but after failing college three times I began to think I may have more than just the depression previous doctors thought, which ended up in being diagnosed with ADHD. After that I looked into the topic veeeery heavily, and it seems to make more sense than any other label that has been put on me before. I analyzed my past and saw traits present in childhood, and my 3rd grade teacher heavily pressured my parents to pursue a diagnosis due to behaviors she saw but my parents were adamant nothing was wrong with me.
This is all to say, ADHD makes sense for me as a diagnosis. It hits me as very real. I have even grieved over it. But for some reason my reaction to caffeine shoots a strong spike of doubt into me. Caffeine has always made me jittery and anxious! A far cry from the sleepy/neutral reaction a lot of people with ADHD seem to experience when taking it.
I know it is said that everyone's brain is different, and no 2 people with ADHD are exactly alike. But it seems at the very least that I should have little/no reaction to drinking caffeine as opposed to being anxious and jittery?
I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me. Many times in the past I have denied the possibility of having ADHD because I do not align with the typical presentation, but I am at a loss for what else it could be and it seems to make the most sense.

TLDR: my daughter’s band instructor is sexist and racist but he keeps it to micro aggressions, so it’s super hard to prove.
This is a rant about my daughter’s (12f ) band instructor . I want to start out by saying I know these types of sexist and racist micro aggressions are not things that can really be brought up with the school, but nevertheless I don’t feel comfortable with an adult man saying them in front of a room full of preteens and young teens. I’m also very sad for the kids who live with sexist and racist stereotypes at home and then come to school and have them normalized by people like my daughter’s teacher.
So, on to the story. Yesterday my daughter came home from school and stood me that her band teacher’s wife was out of town and had been for several weeks, because her mother is on hospice care and she wants to be with her.
We had a discussion about how sad that is and related it to her great grandmother who is also currently in hospice. But then my daughter told me that the only reason her teacher mentioned this was because he looked a bit disheveled and felt the need to apologize. ( he’s the type of man who wears a 3 piece suit and meticulously styles his mustache with wax daily, to teach public school band)
He apologized that his wife was out of town, and he didn’t know how to work the laundry machine and he didn’t know where the dry cleaner is. He added to this very sad account, by stating that he doesn’t cook and the only food left in his house is granola bars. Bet he’s happy because his wife will be home soon to handle his laundry, go shopping and cook real food.
Later in the same class period, he told a white boy, who had decided to yell the N-Word across the band room, that the N- word isn’t really a bad word but we shouldn’t say it because it offends some people.
Obviously this is incorrect, there is a deep history of uses of the n-word to dehumanize , devalue, harass and other people of color. Allowing any child to think that it’s just a little offensive to some people , but not a big deal is beyond disgusting to me.
First: this is deeply disrespectful to his wife. Imagine coming home from spending weeks at your mother’s death bed, only to discover that your husband is apparently a toddler who can’t preform basic adult functions. And then having to mother him.
Second : This is infantilizing boys at a very impressionable age, it teaches them that they don’t have to be responsible for themselves.
Third: it devalues women and girls, implying t hey are only here to serve boys and men.
I’ve you’ve gotten this far, thank you. I’m just upset with society today.
