2024.05.21 19:02 Haveadaykid Concrete resurfacing

So I had a back patio extension poured last summer. The crew did a good job but we had an unexpected storm cloud pour rain the same night and I wasn’t home to cover it. The company felt terrible and never charged me for the concrete as it’s now flaking and doesn’t look good.
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with concrete resurfacing? Any companies to recommend or how is it holding up? How much was it roughly a sqf?
I’m mainly looking at rubber stone resurfacing, but I’m open to other ideas if you have done them or know of any other options?

2024.05.21 18:40 fredasquith Predicting the 26 based on previous squad stats

Predicting the 26 based on previous squad stats
Gareth's previous squads consisted of:
Tournament GK DF MF FW TOTAL
WC 2018 3 9 6 5 23
EURO 2020(1) 3 10 5 8 26
WC 2022 3 9 6 8 26
From this, we can conclude:
  • Defenders - 9: Southgate will almost certainly take 9 or 10 defenders (allowing for discrepancy between positions i.e. Trent can play RB and CDM, similar to how Dier was listed as a midfielder for WC 2018).
  • Midfielders - 6: Feels like EURO 2020 is the anomaly where he knew we'd play 5 at the back double pivot quite a lot. WC2022 feels more representative and is matched in 2018 so I'm guessing 6 again.
  • Forwards - 8: Again, with some discrepancy to CAM especially now Bellingham is being listed as a forward by whoever is in charge of that press release. Interesting to note that Gareth utilised his extra 3 players exclusively in the FW positions both times. Goes against claims of his negativity. ANYWAY.
Looking at the squad, there are a number of players who are 100% going based on full fitness and full trust from the manager. Then there are the remaining others who are fitness doubts and/or less experience. Below I'll try to summarise what I think will be the conundrums for Southgate.
Position / Player Notes
GK (3)
1. Pickford 100% going
2. Ramsdale 100% going, #2 for ages now regardless of form
3. Henderson vs Trafford The perception is Trafford is the future and maybe only in the training squad for experience, but I still think the choice between these two is up for debate.
DF (9)
1. Stones 100% going
2. Maguire 100% going
3. Walker 100% going
4. Trippier 100% going, Gareth loves him, vast experience and seemingly our only cover at LB at the moment
5. Guehi 100% going, trusted a lot by Gareth in the past as the LCB understudy, only not in recent squads due to injury
6. Gomez 100%, in my eyes even if Shaw is 'fit' he'll still be a question mark, so Gomez provides that extra LB cover with or without Shaw
7 & 8. Konsa vs Dunk vs Branthwaite This is the battle here. Two of these three will make the squad. Branthwaite in here based off form to make up for lack of experience. Southgate spoken very highly of him.
9. Shaw 100% goes if fit, but a huge question mark as Southgate said himself today. So settling it at around 60% chance lets say. If Shaw doesn't make it, remains to be seen whether Southgate takes a 9th player from the three above (i.e. all three), or sticks with 8 given none of them really cover LB.
Quansah 0% unless something drastic happens, it's his first call up can't see him rising above Konsa or Dunk. Seems like another call up for experience.
MF (6)
1. Bellingham 100% going. Note: Gareth said in the presser today that he doesn't classify the players as MF or FW himself, that's done by other staff, so in order to regulate any anomalies I'm listing Bellingham in MF to match the 6 as per previous squad announcements. Equally, the other option appears to be 5 (as at EURO 2020) so you can just as easily list Bellingham as a FW and get the same result.
2. Rice 100%
3. Trent 100% you have to say given utility at RB, as above we might be shorter than usual in DF
4. Gallagher 100% based on call ups for the last 12-18 months and good form towards the end of the season
5 & 6. Mainoo vs Jones vs Wharton Once again, this is the battle and two of these three will make the squad. Previously Mainoo felt like a shoo-in but Gareth has spoken really highly of Jones whilst injured and Wharton had a barnstorming end to the season so I think it's a straight fight.
FW (8)
1. Kane 100%
2. Foden 100%
3. Saka 100%
4. Palmer 100% based on recent call ups (even when injured in the last break) and an unbelievable end to the season. Full season, in fact.
5. Watkins 100% based on consistent call ups and an incredible season both for goals and assists. I just don't think he can risk NOT taking him.
6. Bowen vs Toney The first battle. I know this may seem like a strange combination, but personally I think the choice comes down to whether we need Bowen's industriousness off the bench, essentially as a 3rd RW and 3rd ST, or Toney's penalties as a 3rd ST.
7 & 8. Gordon vs Eze vs Grealish Assuming Foden is going as our starting LW (as Gareth reiterated in the presser today), this is the battle for the position of LW understudy + one luxury bench warmer. I say two of these are going which makes Grealish's inclusion very likely with all his international experience.
Maddison I'm gonna put it out there, I don't think Maddison is going. He isn't a natural fit into our system as he doesn't start off the Wing and the CAM is completely covered by Bellingham, Foden, Palmer and even Gallagher who are streets ahead in form at the moment.
So in a roundabout way, above is my prediction for the 26-man squad.

2024.05.21 18:32 Scribbles_ The Rhine river and the Nvidia CEO

In this clip CEO of Nvidia presents a country's language, culture, and intelligence as a resource they cannot afford not to exploit by feeding them into Artificial Intelligence. This immediately brings to mind Martin Heidegger's 1954 essay The Question Concerning Technology wherein modern technology is described as a framework that transforms our way of understanding things away from a stand-alone essence and into an instrumental, standing-reserve of a resource.
In this post I'll articulate why I think the Nvidia CEO is saying something monstrous and awful by suggesting that we challenge-forth language and culture. Leaning on Heidegger's understanding of Technology, I will primarily make use of a critical distinction he makes in the relationship between humans and nature, which is that of bringing-forth and challenging-forth. I will summarize some key concepts form the essay so you don't have to read it in full.
The primary distinction between bringing-forth and challenging-forth is whether the essence (or if you prefer, identity or understanding) of some thing remains as a stand-alone existence unto itself or if it is subsumed under the essence of the process that extracts a resource from it.
Bringing-Forth is likened to an old wooden bridge across the Rhine river. The bridge is revealed as a way forward, as a space and a road and an object, but not in a manner that the Rhine is now subsumed under it. The Rhine is not reduced (in our understanding) to the waters that go under the bridge, the bridge brings-forth a way across the river, but the Rhine is still, in essence, still understood as a thing unto itself, independent from any need that water run under the bridge.
By contrast, Heidegger brings up a hydroelectric dam on the Rhine.
"The hydroelectric plant is set into the current of the Rhine. It sets the Rhine to supplying its hydraulic pressure, which then sets the turbines turning. This turning sets those machines in motion whose thrust sets going the electric current for which the long-distance power station and its network of cables are set up to dispatch electricity. In the context of the interlocking processes pertaining to the orderly disposition of electrical energy, even the Rhine itself appears to be something at our command. The hydroelectric plant is not built into the Rhine River as was the old wooden bridge that joined bank with bank for hundreds of years. Rather, the river is dammed up into the power plant."
To Heidegger, it is not just the physical flow of water in the river that is dammed and disrupted, but rather our understanding of the river is dammed. We are no longer seeing it for itself but rather as something within our control, something from which we can challenge-forth to give "maximum yield at the minimum expense". The Rhine is now the smaller part to a process whose essence has overtaken the essence of any one part.
In order to enable this process to continue Heidegger says that "Everywhere everything is ordered to stand by, to be immediately on hand, indeed to stand there just so that it may be on call for a further ordering." The dam is our order to the Rhine that the gravitational energy of the cubic meters of water that it has stand by for future use, in a manner that the bridge does not order the Rhine to flow underneath it.
This quote from Ayn Rand's Fountainhead neatly encapsulates how challenging-forth encourages the framing of the world:
"He looked at the granite. To be cut, he thought, and made into walls. He looked at a tree. To be split and made into rafters. He looked at a streak of rust on the stone and thought of iron ore under the ground. To be melted and to emerge as girders against the sky. These rocks, he thought, are waiting for me; waiting for the drill, the dynamite and my voice; waiting to be split, ripped, pounded, reborn; waiting for the shape my hands will give them"
Rand is (expectedly) writing in praises of this framework, but to the view of Heidegger, this is a monstrous thing, the tree and the granite and the rocks are all robbed of an essence, an understanding of themselves as they are and transformed into something that must be ordered around to stand by for an endless process of revealing, regulating, and securing.
What then, does this have to do with the Nvidia CEO's claim? Well, quite clearly, AI has made it possible for people to issue the order of standing-reserve not just to the forces of nature, but to things inside ourselves, such as language, culture, intelligence. These things, that embody the inner lives of people, our relationships, and our histories, are challenged-forth are to be ordered.
The writer, unlike the model, brings-forth something from language, she cannot hope to control language, merely to reveal some finite thing from it in the manner that the bridge revelas away forward from the Rhine. She cannot order language to be "immediately on hand" to be endlessly revealed into something whenever desired, because her limited and phenomenological perspective makes her attempts subordinate to the size of language as an entity larger than herself. She understands language as something with an essence that she cannot wield in its totality and in that relationship the essence of language is preserved, as something greater than her desires to make writing from it, but nonetheless able to yield to her enough for her needs.
This here is what distinguishes AI from other tools that relate to language, culture and intelligence. AI finally enables us to treat the great corpuses as a standing reserve we can challenge-forth and industrialize, that we can subsume those things permanently under the endless cycle of revealing. If our language, thought and intelligence are a river, AI is the dam. The river still flows, but it is subsumed as the resource from which the dam extracts something, as the thing the dam challenges to produce.
Like Heidegger, I see a certain monstrosity in this, and it is especially awful when it invades this realms of the inner lives of people.
Heidegger argued that man was the first resource to be ordered in this manner:
"Only to the extent that man for his part is already challenged to exploit the energies of nature can this revealing that orders happen. If man is challenged, ordered, to do this, then does not man himself belong even more originally than nature within the standing-reserve? The current talk about human resources, about the supply of patients for a clinic, gives evidence of this. The forester who measures the felled timber in the woods and who to all appearances walks the forest path in the same way his grandfather did is today ordered by the industry that produces commercial woods, whether he knows it or not. He is made subordinate to the orderability of cellulose, which for its part is challenged forth by the need for paper, which is then delivered to newspapers and illustrated magazines."
But indeed, with the ability to challenge-forth culture and language and intelligence, man is made infinitely and completely subordinate to industry. And that, I think, we should never allow.

discworld's community-built alignment chart day 21: Chaotic Good. The comment with the most upvotes after 24 hours decides the next character!
Welcome to day 21 of discworld's community-built alignment chart!
The results are in, and the community's choice for Rebel Evil is Reacher Gilt! Many characters were nominated for this one, but Mr Gilt was voted in over Andy Shank, the de Magpyrs, Wolfgang von Uberwald, Mr Pin, even Big Fido.
Every day, this chart will be filled in with a discworld character determined by the comment with the most upvotes after 24 hours. This will continue until we have built a complete chart.
Today's alignment is: Chaotic Good. For reference, this is alignment is for characters that would break any rule if it meant doing Good, and probably really enjoy doing it. Chaotic Good characters usually view rules as nothing more than limitations on freedom, and hate nothing more than tyranny, either in the form of a dictatorship, or sometimes just being told what to do by any kind of authority.
Which discworld character do you think best fits into this alignment? Write a comment arguing your case or upvote any you agree with.
Reminder that the non-standard categories of Moral, Impure, Social, and Rebel are, in essence, acting as stepping stones between Neutral and their respective extremes. For example, Moral characters are characters that have more "good-ness" than Neutral characters do, but not as much as a Good character would - they're sort of a halfway point. Think of them like shades of grey, or, if you prefer, whites that have got grubby.
If you need an outline of the traits each alignment exemplifies, check out this post. Bear in mind these are just examples of how a character might fit the alignment, and a character doesn't need to match up identically to the description to be a valid choice!
See you tomorrow for day 22!

Decadent Choco Tray 6 Completed (NO Street Urchin, F2P Friendly)
I was struggling to find a team that worked without Street Urchin that also had enough damage to kill in time, and I finally found it!
Comment below if you want specifics as to how my cookies are built, but they all have mid toppings, nothing out of F2P reach. I only built linzer cookie for the Shadow Milk event, I bought her soul stones from the pity shop, so she’s the weakest link here. I farmed parfait from the master mode stage to get her max. Prune juice I just saved gems and summoned on.
All of these cookies have hand-me-down toppings aside of prune and even then you could get away with worse. I don’t use them aside of random events like this

2024.05.21 17:33 slutbotomy KIM in ThanK you aIMee

KIM in ThanK you aIMee
I feel very called out because I have the lamest slide show backing up a possible incorrect theory. I don't have any interest in giving her songs paternity tests, but I do have an interest in dissecting lyrics that I think were made for fans/gossiping nonfans and intentionally written to not look like it's always been about the reader, accept that it is. (She got millions of people to scream sing TIWWCHNT and it's true! She took away the actual look into her life and journey as an artist because it become a joke and new lyrics to attach to an ex). It's Me. HI, I'm the Problem etc. She got them to scream that too. Because they are the problem and the song sounds like she's being accused, rather than admitting.)
However, in light of recent events, make of it what you will.
This goes along with the theory there is a TS brand(Haim sisters) and then Taylor(the girl in Bejeweled). I.E orchestrating PR relationships/breaks up to control the public as best she could. She feeds both speculators and haters who will side with the ex because they really do just hate her. (See Joe's Widows). This means that because no one listened when she begged for them to stop, she leaned into her reputations, feeds them, and makes money off it. Her NYU speech is also very telling about how much she protects her privacy and the introduction to Rep, which seemed to go over most people's heads.
Taylor has been trolling the public for years and making bank off it. She, essentially, turned her reputations that were slapped on her (in the Bejeweled MV, the Haim sisters represent some of her reputations.) I want to say somewhere (I don't know) around 1989/Reputation, (WAOLOM says that she learned from them the public, what did she learn?), she's done this.
How has she done this?
She learned about KIM. Knowledge Information Media. She learned how knowledge is shared and created her own world for the public (nonfans/fans/gossipers, interlopers). She created the Bejeweled world in REAL LIFE using science and how the public interacts with each other to keep interlopers out while purposefully dropping clues to make them think they are special, and truly know her. The exes are in on this. They are compensated.
She confirms this at the beginning of WAOLOM, the who's who are the exes, the public being the ones saying who's that?, are prepared for the attack and her hands her work paves their path. Don't give it clicks, but googling Joe Alwyn is all articles about how terrible she is and he's a saint. People are thirsting and he's got career elevation. Calvin, possibly Harry, Tom, Travis (there's MERCH. Cmon people)who knows. This is all how she intended.
The end of the video, she rejects all of this as she REACHES THE TOP TS13 elevator that completes the castle (money/fame/privacy) she built off of interloper's stones. She wins the talent show and the only people clapping in the end are the staff, who are in on it.
Then she let's the folks (public) burn down, but she keeps the castle, which is what she wanted. I think this means, she will probably admit this one day to the public and she will take immense joy in it, go back to her castle, and watch them cry? Well, tbf, all she allegedly thinks about is karma.
She's look fearless era at the end of the video, perhaps this is a nod to when she last felt like herself and that's who deserves the castle.
The main reason I think TYA is so important is because it's about everyone. Everyone who has poured over lyrics searching for clues about exes, everyone who has gossiped and spread rumors about her, everyone who feels like they know her and crash her parties, weddings, life etc.
It lines up with the Cardigan OG lyrics calling her cage a bird cage.
It was never about the actor, chaining her(great story to imply) It was about us chaining her. The public, anyone who dares look into her privacy.
Who else thinks of her as a rare caged bird? Yea. Everyone. Even haters. They want to pick her apart too.
And what happens in all the parables of caged birds?
I encourage you to read the first scholar link, if you Google Knowledge Information Media. It's extremely informative lol, and helps with media literacy skills. KIM is just a red herring, to throw off interlopers. She's thanking the actual science of it all.
Tldr; the play is about everyone. Probably should stop it.

If it’s hard to know how polygonal got invented, it’s even harder to explain how it is forgotten
Ashlar (square stone blocks) + mortar are both older and younger than polygonal masonry.
Meaning, mostly everywhere (with polygonal masonry) construction begins using Ashlamortar to then move into Polygonal and finally going back to Ashlamortar.
And that's strange, at least. It seems to be an evolution followed by devolution, with a recurring pattern, enabling all sorts of crazy explanations
https://preview.redd.it/39nb7n1ess1d1.png?width=1064&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0e65a3d16cf1a5c6d54c271cef534eb786b324b
Prior to guessing why polygonal technology comes and goes, is invented and then forgotten, debunk some common and wrong, assumption about the technique:
  • Polygonal masonry is way harder to build than Ashlar (squared). It requires massive amounts of work, there is no saving of time in using Polygonal masonry. It's not about being efficient in any way. It cannot be built under the pressure of time.
  • Polygonal is better quality but only in the long run. It takes time to build and accomplishes the same result apparently at first. Only after an earthquake or a flood, does it become apparent the investment of time in polygonal payouts.
So, what we have is a situation where early tribes would build with ashlar and mortar. Then something changes and they move into expensive and durable polygonal masonry. Then something changes again and they go back to build with fast and efficient but less durable ashlar and mortar.
Here's how it could go:
  • At first societies are basic and can't afford the extra cost of polygonal masonry. With time and natural disasters (earthquakes or floods) the small duration of these buildings is exposed.
  • Then, some long peaceful and prosperous period emerges and people start thinking long term. Realizing that to leave an heritage to the millennia, they have to improve their building technique. This happens at a time the ruling class is not limited in their capability to expend ungodly amounts of manpower on vanity projects. Things like pyramids or the Acropolis (polygonal) get built. Such a period is also stable enough for commerce to expand and know-how to be exchanged.
  • Finally the living standards of the base population raise, with the emergence of technology (like Iron) or the gap between the leader and the populace flattens, or there is an external threat, like an invasion. With those changes, with a faster moving society with sort of an emerging upper-middle class competing for power, efficiency is again paramount. No time nor patience to keep on building expensive polygonal for the vanity of a very small group of people.
In my view, polygonal masonry exists in a sweet spot when the ruling class are like gods and the population is fed and there is no external emergency.
That cannot happen in the early days of a society, because they are dirt poor and cannot afford to build polygonal
It also cannot continue to exist in a more modern world, where there is some sort of upper-middle class (like the citizens of the Greek city states) and competition for power.
Note that this might explain why polygonal masonry comes and goes, but does not explain how the know-how is acquired.

New Orleans, USA, April 25th, 1926
So looks like the waitress in that cafe was lucky enough to get enough money from Charlotte LaBoeff to buy her restaurant. When we left the cafe, we followed her to the real estate office of the Fenner Bros. and we waited about an hour, sitting on a bench. Every second I spent on Isaac's shoulder as a frog was me sunbathing, contemplating life, and daydreaming about torturing and murdering Nonon. As Tiana ran out of the office, she beckoned us to follow us.
Tiana: Come along! I gotta show you guys!
We followed her down the street for a couple of blocks before we found the old dilapidated building she was planning to buy. Only seeing the outside of the building, the Fenner brothers came up to the realty sign and removed it.
Tiana: Everything looks peachy keen Mr. Fenner, and Mr. Fenner.
Fenner 1: We have the paperwork ready to sign first thing after Mardi Gras.
Tiana: I'll do you one better. I'll sign them tonight when I see you at the Labouff masquerade ball!
The two brothers ignored her, putting the wooden sign into their car and driving off with it. Suddenly, an older black woman appeared behind Tiana.
Tiana's mother: Table for one please!
She was holding a big sauce pot with a red ribbon on it.
Tiana: Mama!
Tiana's mother: Here's a little something to help you get started.
Tiana: Ah! Daddy's gumbo pot. Oh.
Tiana hugged her mother and she spoke again.
Tiana's mother: I know. I miss him too. Well now, hurry up and open the door.
Upon opening the door, Tiana shut the doors immediately and both her and her mother began to hyperventilate. Something was terribly wrong.
Isaac: T-Tiana is it? Is something wrong?
Suddenly, a hole was smashed through the door by a big furry arm as Tiana and her mother ran over to Isaac and his behind him, screaming!
Tiana: What the hell is that?
Isaac reached for his plasma saw and turned it on. It whirred loudly before both doors were slamme open and a dozen of those rat-humanoid monsters barged out!
Ryuko: Shit! Rat bastards! Come on Isaac, you can take them down! Tell Wiz and Boomstick who's boss!
Issac: Oh I will. I'm an exterminator too on top of being an engineer!
Nonon never seeing these monsters before put her hands on her ears and screamed "Oh my G-d" over and over again as Isaac ran into the fight with me and Buzz as frogs on his shoulder!
Isaac: Mourir monsteurs!
Isaac slashed through the horde, swinging quickly and broadly as he cut them down multiple at a time! He jumped high into the air and used his summoned swords magic to shoot two rat bastards, impaling them before clapping and blowing them along with any nearby rat bastards up!
Nonon: What are those things? Oh my G-d!
Gamagoori as a big bullfrog woke up and climbed out of Nonon's pocket.
Gamagoori: Rats! The monsters Wiz and Boomstick created to try and slow Ryuko down so she can't save Mako! Come on! We gotta fight them!
As Isaac cut them up, we saw two cheese pukers emerge from the open door, I called it out to him but saw a big mass of bricks on the roof.
Ryuko: Cheese pukers! Don't let them get close! I'm gonna take them down!
Isaac: Ryuko wait no!
I hopped off his shoulder with Buzz and we hopped onto the wall, climbed up before hopping over to the mass of bricks, me and buzz then began to push them off all at once slowly before they all fell onto the stationary cheese pukers, causing them to explode! Blood, guts, and rotten cheese slurry splattered all over the street, the sight and sent caused Tiana, Nonon and her mother to puke.
Gamagoori hopped out of Nonon's pocket and hopped over to the wall and climbed up with us.
Gamagoori: I'm gonna help! Isaac! More are coming!
More rat bastards charged at Isaac, but he began to cut them all down as they got close. The ones that tried to swipe and swing at him were easily dodge as Isaac was very fast. He dodged, dashed and even did backflips to avoid their attacks all while cutting them down with one swing of his powerful plasma blade! Emerging from the door once more was a big, muscular rat monster with crusty, disgusting fur with dead, diseased rat fetuses stuck to it. It ripped one out and threw it at Isaac, he dodged it quickly!
Isaac: Tiana duck!
Tiana, Nonon and her mother ducked as the diseased rat-humanoid corpse flew over their heads, mere inches from their scalps. Isaac then used his summoned swords magic again and threw two glowing blue swords into it before clapping and blowing it into bloody chunks! None of it's diseased biomass hit us or our human friends bellow.
Isaac: That's not all...
We heard a tapping sound, it became more rapid as Tiana, Nonon and her mother squeaked in fear and all three got rolled into a ball to protect themselves. Out of the doorway was the last rat bastard, but the most horrific looking one. It was as big as the doorway, it had six spider legs, it's body was a big mass of gray fur with two rat bastard heads and a human head wearing a crown in the middle. The human head was familiar however, with the burned scar over it's left eye and brown hair.
Ryuko: Santa told me... Those rat bastards are from a mix of rodent DNA and DNA from Z-Zuko! That's Zuko's head?
The Zuko head stared at Isaac for a moment before it's mouth opened up, revealing hideous, rotten needle-like teeth!
Zuko head: Rarrgggghhhhh!
It ran over to Isaac, trying to get one of it's disgusting heads to bite him, but he jumped around and avoided it! He whirred his plasma saw loudly before jumping behind it but before he could cut it's three heads off, the new rat bastard spun around and bit his plasma saw, holding it in place. One of it's spider legs swept Isaac's legs and he fell to the ground. It then slowly began using it's heads that bit onto the plasma saw while having it's mouths avoid the cutting blue blades press on further, as the plasma saw was pushed further to Isaac's neck, he sweated profusely!
Isaac: You! Mon-steur! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Isaac struggled with it before Tiana ran up behind it with a random wooden plank she used as a club and hit it over the human head! It let go and pulled back and turned towards Tiana, hissing at her before Isaac began to slowly overpower the two rodent heads still pushing on! The two head's teeth accidentally slipped on the blade and Isaac soon cut through their heads, killing two of them. Tiana jammed the wooden plank down the human Zuko head's throat but it bit down and bit the plank in half! Isaac's plasma saw then cut the human head off after cutting through the two other rodent heads from behind! Isaac then kicked the newly killed monster off of him high into the air before Isaac dropped his plasma saw, grabbed it by the legs and swung around with it like a track and field throwing ball before releasing it and it flew high into the sky, so high as a matter of fact that we eventually lost visual contact with it as it travelled so high.
Isaac took some deep breaths before picking up his plasma saw, turning it off and holstering it on his side.
Tiana: Are they gone?
Nonon: What were those things?
Isaac: You didn't run into them? They're the race created by Wiz and Boomstick to kidnap Mako. They're monsteurs me and Ryuko fought. If you want to travel with us, you better not be dead weight. You did nothing to help. Ryuko, Buzz and Gamagoori can't fight at their best right now because of you. So you can do your part or get out.
Nonon: Yes sir. I'll-gulp try.
Tiana: T-thank you for saving me. You are very strong and handsome!
Isaac: Ma plaisir.
Tiana: Did you fight in the great war? You are French after all.
Isaac: Great war? World War o- oh... No I didn't. What year is it again?
Tiana: 1926!
Isaac: 1926! I'm only 26. I... I was 18 in-
Tiana: 1918. Did you fight?
Isaac: Errrr... That's not important. Anyway, I'm going inside your new restaurant. I'll check for any more of those rat bastards.
Tiana: Thank you. Can you tell me when it's clear?
Isaac: Oui.
Isaac proceeded into the ruins before me, Buzz and Gamagoori hopped down a hole from the ceiling, landing on his shoulder.
Isaac: I should of known we travelled back in time in this world. We're in 1926. I wouldn't be born until 1992.
Ryuko: Dang. We're 92 years in the past. Yet again we were in the 15th century months ago.
Gamagoori: What are you talking about?
Ryuko: Me and Isaac going through these worlds, some of them are in the past, one was in 1482! This is the second historical world we've been sent into to find the next dimensional stone.
Buzz: Interuniversal and time travel I see. Your civilization is more advanced then I thought.
Ryuko: Well, it's magic really.
Buzz: Magic! Interesting. I wonder if I can use any.
Ryuko: We'll find out.
Gamagoori: I hope you guys know what you're doing. Will the dimensional stones lead us to Mako?
Ryuko: Yep! Sure will. It will lead us to Mako, we'll save her from Death Battle and we'll kill Wiz, Boomstick and their raping ringmaster.
Gamagoori: I just hope we don't get stuck in the past. I hope you know what you're doing. Also I want to be human again.
Ryuko: We'll get there eventually.
Meanwhile, in the streets of New Orleans, Prince Naveen was joining a street band playing Jazz as everyone was surrounding him, the women were especially fawning over him. His fat servant ran over to him!
Lawrence: Prince!
Naveen: Dance with me, fat man!
The prince took his servant's hand and began to dance around with him for a minute before he announced a proposal to the crowd.
Naveen: Drinks are all on me!
Everyone was cheering, but the servant grabbed the prince and pulled him closer to question him.
Lawrence: How are we going to pay for all of that? You have no money! Either you go and slip out when nobody's looking, or get a job!
Lawrence pointed over to a man behind a horse shoveling it's poop into a bucket.
Naveen: Eugh, fine Lawrence. But first, we dance!
He pulled Lawrence even closer and began to dance with him. The prince let go of Lawrence and he stumbled into the band and his head ended up inside of a tuba!
Naveen: Ha ha! You're finally in the music! Get it? Because your head is inside of a tuba? Ha ha!
Lawrence: Get me out of here!
Naveen and a member of the band pulled at Lawrence before both the prince and his servant were flung out of a tuba and up against a wall!
Lawrence: Agh! How degrading! This is... Oh hello?
Looking up, a slender figure in a black suit and black top hat appeared, he had a top hat with a skull and crossbones on it. This man looked suspicious but he greeted both of them kindly.
Dr. Facilier: Gentlemen! Enchante?
He lowered his walking stick, allowing the prince to grab on so he can be lifted up.
Dr. Facilier: A tip of the hat from Dr. Facilier! How y'all doing?
He handed the prince a purple business card.
Naveen: Tarot readings? Charms? Potions? Dreams made real?
Naveen and Facilier began to walk around a corner into an alleyway.
Dr. Facilier: I'm in the business of visiting royalty. Lawrence followed him.
Naveen: Lawrence! Lawrence! This remarkable gentleman has just read my palm.
Lawrence: Over this morning's newspaper. Sire, sire, this chap is obviously a charlatan. I suggest we move on to a-
Dr. Facilier: Don't you disrespect me little man! Don't you derogate or deride! You're in my world now. Not your world. And I got friends on the other side!
An echo was heard, saying "Friends on the other side".
Dr. Facilier: That's an echo, gentlemen. Just a little something we have here in Louisiana, a little parlor trick. Don't worry.
Dr. Facilier led the two to a door under a sign saying "Dr. Facilier's voodoo emporium", and once leading them in, him and his shadow sat them down at a table as Dr. Facilier high-fived his shadow then took a seat and continued his singing.
Dr. Facilier: Sit down at my table, put your minds at ease, if you relax it will enable me to do anything I please. I can read your future, I can change it 'round some, too, I'll look deep into your heart and soul. You have a soul too, don't you Lawrence?
Lawrence: Yes?
Dr. Facilier: Make your wildest dreams come true! I got voodoo, I got hoodoo, I got things I ain't even tried! And I got friends on the other side.
Dr. Facilier pulled out a deck of tarot cards and shuffled them before the duo as he continued to sing at them.
Dr. Facilier: The cards, the cards, the cards will tell the past, the present, and the future as well! The cards, the cards, just take three, take a little trip into your future with me!
Naveen and Lawrence picked three cards before Dr. Facilier took them and told them to the duo. He started with the prince first and continued to sing about his tarot card readings.
Dr. Facilier: Now you, young man, are from across the sea. You come from two long lines of royalty. I'm a royal myself on my mother's side. Your lifestyle's high but your funds are low. You need to marry a lil' honey whose daddy got dough! Mom and dad cut you off, huh playboy?
Naveen: Eh, sad but true.
Dr. Facilier: Now y'all gotta get hitched, but hitching ties you down. You just wanna be free, hop from place to place But freedom takes green! It's the green, it's the green, it's the green you need. And when I looked into your future it's the green that I see!
He then turned to Lawrence and read his tarot card results to him in a musical fashion.
Dr. Facilier: On you little man, I don't wanna waste much time. You been pushed around all your life, you been pushed around by your mother and your sister and your brother, and if you was married, you'd be pushed around by your wife. But in your future, the you I see is exactly the man you always wanted to be!
Dr. Facilier crossed his arms and expected the duo to shake his hands.
Dr. Facilier: Shake my hand, come on boys. Won't you shake the poor sinner's hand?
Naveen shook reluctantly as Lawrence shook with a mischievous grin on his face. Once they did that, the curtains came down and an army of singing masks began to sing as Naveen and Lawrence were suddenly bound to their chairs!
Dr. Facilier: Yes! Are you ready?
Voodoo spirits: Are you ready?
Dr. Facilier: Are you ready? Transformation central!
Voodoo spirits: Transformation central!
Dr. Facilier: Reformation central
Voodoo spirits: Reformation central!
Dr. Facilier: Transmogofication central!
Dr. Facilier then pulled out a talisman and clipped Naveen's finger with it, getting blood into it and initiating a curse with it.
Can you feel it? You're changin', you're changin', you're changin', all right! I hope you're satisfied, but if you ain't, don't blame me! You can blame my friends on the other side!
The musical number ended as Dr. Facilier danced around with the voodoo spirits!
Voodoo spirits: You got what you wanted! But you lost what you had!
Dr. Facilier then dashed forward on his knees before blowing, and everything went dark.
Back at Tiana's new restaurant, Isaac emerged from the doors, me, Gamagoori and Buzz were in his pockets as he approached Tiana.
Isaac: Good news Tiana, it's all clear!
Tiana: Oh thank you! You're my hero Isaac! Now, I just need to make some changes around here, so I may turn this into my dream. It will have to wait. I have to eventually go to the masquerade ball tonight.
Isaac: Oui.

2024.05.21 16:32 TheArctopus A new way to flicker strike - CoC Bodyswap of Sacrifice

A long time ago, I came across a beautiful build. Bodyswap when linked with summon phantasm on kill gained the minion tag and could then be used with Null's Inclination, and for a brief, glorious window there was a flicker-esque build. I cannot for the life of me find any footage of this build or even evidence the build existed and I didn't simply dream it, but I distinctly remember seeing a ranger blast through Underground Sea with a dozen bodyswaps every second. And then another Null's Inclination build appeared: Wormblaster. Null's was hit with a hefty nerf, gaining a significant trigger cooldown. Flicker Bodyswap was killed before I ever had a chance to try it.
When the new Bodyswap of Sacrifice gem was revealed, I saw the 'minion' tag on the gem and immediately tried to recreate the build. The numbers, sadly, weren't there. Without targeting a minion, it just didn't do any damage, and I eventually gave up on using Null's altogether. The idea went on the backburner for a while, but it was still there, itching at the back of my mind. This league I resolved to make it work, and eventually struck upon the idea of Cast on Critical Strike to replace clunky on-kill triggers.
After many, many failed PoB's, I came up with something that looked viable, and a week later, I had this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4StIXUy-yw - epilepsy warning. Just a plain unjuiced T16 for demonstration purposes.
PoB: https://pobb.in/NfNRRksoikSO
Build breakdown:
This is a cast on crit Bodyswap of Sacrifice elementalist built costing approximately 120 divines, including the Mageblood. I did, however, craft many of the pieces of gear myself - in fact, the only gear piece I didn't craft is the helmet. As a result, some of the gear is a bit wonky, but this is probably my last build of the league and I'm getting the itch to play other games.
Pros:
Cons:
Skills:
Uniques:
Passive Tree/Ascendancy:
As I cannot run golems, there's pretty much only one way to build elementalist. Mastermind of Discord/Heart of Destruction/Shaper of Storms for lots of damage, Bastion of Elements for some much-needed EHP and reflect immunity.
The passive tree is pretty basic, with one very important exception. See the note at the end.
The cluster jewels are pretty important here, there's no easy way to get enough global critical strike chance. Make sure one of the elemental damage large cluster jewels has Doryani's Lesson, and Corrosive Elements if (like me) you don't have a level 5 Awakened Fire Penetration. A 3-passive reservation cluster with Uncompromising gives just enough reservation to run everything. Clusters are a good place to pick up enough dexterity to run everything, as I take hardly any on the rest of the tree.
A note on mana:
Raise Zombie costs a lot of mana. Getting it to a reasonable mana cost to trigger repeatedly without turning off manaforged arrows was a puzzle that took a while to solve. I take a total of 56% reduced mana cost of skills on the tree, another 6% on my gear, and a level 16 (I think this could be 20, but it doesn't make any difference, really) 0 quality inspiration giving another 32% supporting RoAoS+Raise Zombie for a total of 94% reduced mana cost. The Bodyswap setup, however, runs a 20/20 inspiration which gives 39% reduced mana cost for a total of 101% reduced. This is the only way I could find to sustain mana while still have Rain of Arrows cost any amount of mana, and importantly have the bodyswap rain of arrows cost so little that it triggers with every single attack.
Conclusion:
On the whole, I built this because I could, not because I should. There's much better ways to spend 120 divines. It is, however, fun and unique. I haven't - yet - tried in in T17s or against ubers, and I don't expect it will fair well, but neither did I build it with aspirational content in mind. If anyone does choose to build this, please temper your expectations.

2024.05.21 16:29 Zunokame Keep pushing

I see a lot of post on here about how bad being an Amazon driver is and I get it. But I feel like being too focused on the negatives is what makes the job feel even worse. Yea there’s a lot of stops yea there’s a lot of packages maybe your DSP sucks but like anything in life you have to make the most of it. There aren’t many jobs out there willing to pay the same Amazon does for people with no experience and If you find a job like that, that’s great! And I hope you find less negatives in that job than here. For me, being a driver is a stepping stone until I start school to be a fire fighter in October. I don’t plan on bouncing around jobs for the rest of my life or being an Amazon vet for 20+ years (no offense). I encourage all of you take advantage of this opportunity and make the most of it to build yourself up. If your new here yea this job isn’t built for the weak, you have to be willing to put your pride to the side, pee in water bottles, sweat, walk up stairs, deal with rude customers etc but like any job this isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, welcome to the real world.

2024.05.21 15:56 ItIsMagick I am close to finishing my bachelor's and I have lost motivation. How can you overcome this?

A little bit of background. I (23 M) am currently enrolled in Uni and I am in my final year. The university was alright. I had some trouble mid way where I had to take 12 courses. On top of that I had to take care of my dad during that time. He had a neuro degenerative disease that targeted his moto neurons. He was fine all his life. Then he turned 50 and boom. He couldn't do anything apart from talking because his brain was damaged. So when I had my finals I had to watch him die. Naturally I still somehow aced all of the exams except one. It is kinda crazy how a human can handle stress.
I had a GF of 3 years during this hard time. Seeing my dad in such a rough spot in life made her have a mental breakdown. So I had to take care of her too. Because of that I felt left alone. I was taking care of everyone but me. Due to her being incapable of helping me in any way I lost interest. I tried to get in good shape and somewhat succeeded. Our relationship suffered because of me taking care of myself. It hurt me really bad when I realized what I actually did to my then GF. I became more and more distant. We haven't had sex (our sex life was in a bad spot already... Like once every 4 months or sth like that).
So I managed to get myself in a better spot while still helping my now ex academically. Here I am now. Writing those words after my breakup. I pushed through all of those u fortunate turn of events and I am now writing my bachelor's. Or I at least try. I am feeling pretty good in the last few months. But still when it comes to writing my thesis it is like having a heavy fogg in my brain that prevents me from achieving anything. I have to say that this is pretty much the easiest time I have ever had during university. I don't work, I don't attend classes, I fo out a lot and see my friends every day. But still I am not in a good mental state for academic research of any kind. I should be in the best spot to do anything I want but I cant. I just can't. It's like the stress that has built up is now crashing down on me all of a sudden.
Does anyone have/had a similar experience? If yes how did you overcome this heavy sensation?
TL;DR: I had many stepping stones during uni, overcome those but now on the verge of finishing my degree I mentally CAN'T finish my thesis.

As a product reviewer, I've had the pleasure of trying out the Stanley 24 oz. Quick Flip Go Water Bottle in the Tigerlily color. This water bottle has become a staple in my daily routine.
The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design – perfect for carrying on the go. The double-wall vacuum insulation is a real game-changer. Whether I'm sipping on iced water in the summer or a hot cup of tea in the winter, the temperature remains consistent for hours.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the trigger-action lid. It's easy to use and helps prevent spills, making it great for when I'm on the move. Plus, the fact that it's dishwasher safe is a lifesaver. No more scrubbing by hand!
However, there are a couple of downsides. Firstly, the weight of the bottle can be a bit of a struggle for those who prefer a lighter option. Secondly, the dimensions might not fit all car cup holders, which can be a hassle during road trips.
Overall, the Stanley Quick Flip Go Water Bottle has been a reliable companion in my everyday life. Its combination of style, functionality, and durability make it a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable water bottle.

🔗Cold Steel Heavy Duty Nylon Cane with Rubber Ferrule

https://preview.redd.it/v48i5gn34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64aac772c9910fa7f43dc2f916fb8b53b380e7fc
I've been using the Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane in my daily life, and it has proven to be quite the companion. The nylon handle provides an enhanced grip that makes it convenient to hold, while the steel construction ensures structural strength for long-term use. I particularly appreciate the rubber ferrule, which is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an excellent choice for uneven terrain or icy sidewalks.
One downside is that it might be a bit heavy for some people, especially those who don't need the extra weight for support. However, the overall design and engineering of the cane are top-notch, and it gives me a sense of reassurance knowing I have a sturdy and reliable walking staff whenever I need it.

🔗Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel: Robust, Stainless Steel Outdoor Essential

https://preview.redd.it/onud1it34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19aa78d8c58949aae696362f44a26b21b9da0dca
This past summer, I found myself on a weekend camping trip and realized I didn't pack a shovel. I needed to dig a small trench around my campsite to divert water. Luckily, a friend had a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel that he let me borrow. On the first day, he taught me how to use it. The edge was sharp, and the handle felt sturdy. I was surprised by how strong it was. I struggled a bit at first, but it didn't take long before I was able to dig the trench.
After returning from the camping trip and reflecting on the weekend, I realized that the shovel had some flaws. Firstly, it was a bit heavy for a camping trip, and I felt it could cause strain on my back over time. Secondly, it didn't come with a sheath, which was inconvenient since I had to keep it in my vehicle's trunk, where it took up too much space.
Despite these issues, I still appreciated the durability of the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel. It was clear that it was designed for heavy-duty tasks. The edge remained sharp even after I used it heavily. The wooden handle felt comfortable to hold, even though it was a bit on the thick side.
Overall, the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel was a functional tool, but it could be improved for camping trips or situations where portability is a priority.

🔗Cold Steel Smatchet: Deluxe Edition for Playstation 5

https://preview.redd.it/duzypj644r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4feb4a7502a34a0974f6539f3524c5dc9b0652ab
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed diving into the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV, let me share my experience with this dynamic duo. The deluxe edition for Playstation 5 was a refreshing return to the rich world of Erebonia, where war hero Rean Schwarzer began his new life as an instructor at Thors Military Academy's branch campus.
What stood out to me was how the game expertly handled the aftermath of the Erebonian Civil War and introduced new threats to keep the story alive. Delving into it with the improved RPG gameplay on PlayStation 5 made my journey even more immersive. Plus, the cosmetic DLC available with these iterations ensured that every member of my party was looking their best, adding a unique touch to the experience.
However, like any other game, it wasn't all smooth sailing. There were moments that were a bit challenging, but overall, the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV truly delivered an engaging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed as a fan of the genre.

🔗Heavy Duty Cold Grease Remover for Effortless Cleaning

As a home cook who's always experimenting with new recipes and kitchen tools, I've found myself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to removing stubborn grease from my appliances. That's why I was thrilled to try the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover.
Right off the bat, I found it remarkable how quickly this cold grease remover works. No need for a heat source or any harsh chemicals. In fact, it's effective on all sorts of surfaces - my oven, pots, frying pans, baking trays, stainless steel dishes, cooking surfaces, steam extractors, and even hard-to-clean vents.
I've had my fair share of leaky packages in the past, but the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover was surprisingly well-packed. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a trigger spray that's easy to use.
The product has a delightful citrus smell that lifts the spirits while I'm getting my hands dirty in the kitchen. Plus, the grease and grime just seem to vanish as if by magic.
However, there's one small downside to my Shumanit experience. On one occasion, the package was partially leaking, which made me worry about the condition of the other products in the batch. I just hope it was a one-time issue and not a trend.
To sum up, the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover is a truly versatile and effective grease and grime remover. It's a lifesaver for anyone who values a sparkling clean kitchen. Let's just hope the packaging improves in the future.

🔗Insulated Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle: Perfect for Outdoor Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/94c0sq154r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e05bc9a8d38beb755f6ee94776ff2533d2ed8d3
The Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle is a versatile and durable companion for any outdoor excursion. It's been a part of my camping adventures for years, ensuring that my beverages stay the perfect temperature no matter the weather.
The thick stainless steel walls not only keep my iced drinks cold for two days but also keep my hot beverages warm for up to two weeks. Plus, the leak-proof lid doubles as a cup, providing a convenient and easy-to-use option for sipping on the go.
The 2.5-quart capacity is ideal for sharing drinks with friends or keeping a large quantity of your favorite beverage at the ready. I've washed my Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle in the dishwasher without any concerns about rust or BPA exposure, and it continues to perform as well as it did on day one.
Overall, the Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle has become an essential part of my outdoor gear, and I can't imagine spending time in nature without it.

🔗Stanley Vacuum Insulated 1.5qt Bottle: Leakproof and Durable for Any Adventure

https://preview.redd.it/hv1cfgh54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92c3e83a1e6ed9bde65bd49c95962c0425bd9025

For my outdoor adventures, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle 1.5qt Habitat has truly been a game-changer. This insulated beverage container ensures my drinks remain at the perfect temperature for hours on end, whether I'm savoring a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning or enjoying an icy beverage on a sweltering day.
One of my favorite features is the stainless steel construction, which not only makes the bottle sturdy and durable but also ensures it's free of BPA, a nice touch for any health-conscious individual. The double-wall vacuum insulation, another key highlight, works wonders in keeping my beverages at their desired temperatures, even in extreme conditions.
However, I found that the bottle can be quite difficult to clean, especially along the insulated areas. Additionally, the screw cap lid, while functional, can be a bit tricky to twist off after a while, depending on the grip strength. These minor inconveniences aside, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle has proven to be an indispensable companion on all my outdoor excursions.

🔗Versatile Cold Welding Formula for Robust Bonds

https://preview.redd.it/4ogfz5u54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4866a573a4c06607a53a48abca3bb57ecd3aa95
Recently, I got my hands on the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy. I was intrigued by the fact that it could serve as an inexpensive alternative to welding, soldering, and brazing. To my surprise, this versatile epoxy proved to be a game-changer in my daily life.
One of the most impressive features of the J-B Weld epoxy is its water-resistant nature. I used it to seal a leak in my water pipe, and it worked like a charm. The epoxy's petroleum and chemical resistance made it perfect for my project, as it withstood various tests without any damage.
Another standout feature of this product is its non-toxic and safe-to-use nature. I used it to fix my child's broken toy, and its safety made me feel more comfortable.
However, I did notice that the mixing ratio of the epoxy is quite sensitive. One must be cautious not to deviate too far from the 1-1 ratio of liquid steel/epoxy resin and the hardener. A slight miscalculation could result in a weaker bond or the need for reapplication.
In conclusion, the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its ease of use, remarkable strength, and versatility make it a standout product in its category. Despite the minor drawback of the mixing ratio, the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.

🔗Insulated Bottle for Long-Lasting Beverages

https://preview.redd.it/hjiqws764r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=778b7036f610f7931a5d1bf47b1544b1da25f09e
I recently put the Stanley Classic to the test on an outing to the mountains. This bottle is a true companion for outdoor enthusiasts, with its impressive 18/8 stainless steel construction and BPA-free design. The 1.5 quart capacity means it can handle all types of drinks, from hot coffee to icy coolers, and keep them at the optimal temperature for up to two days. The folding handle is a clever added feature that allows for easy carrying without the risk of it rolling away.
One of the standout features of this bottle is its leakproof design, making it a reliable option for packing in a backpack or storing in a truck bed. The wide mouth also makes it easy to fill and clean, which is especially helpful for those who enjoy making their own homemade brews. However, I did notice that the bottle is quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, making it more challenging to carry for longer periods of time.
Overall, the Stanley Classic is an excellent investment for those who love spending time outdoors and need a reliable companion to keep their drinks at the perfect temperature.

🔗Portable Insulated Water Bottle with Silicone Straw

https://preview.redd.it/l5lg54i64r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e07172bcc88a069950d96dd4cfb862f209f40f40
I recently had the chance to put the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle to the test, and I have to say, it impressed me with its performance. The most standout feature of this water bottle is its ability to keep drinks cold for an impressive amount of time. I often struggle to find a water bottle that can truly keep my beverage chilled all day long, but this one did just that. The double-walled and vacuum insulated design does an excellent job of maintaining the temperature of the liquid inside.
Another feature I appreciated is the leak-proof lid. No matter how rough I was with it, it never leaked once. The one-touch silicone push button locking mechanism helped keep my bag and clothes dry, while the straw was a fun and convenient addition. Cleaning it was also a breeze, thanks to the top rack dishwasher safe lids and BPA-free materials.
However, I did experience a downside with the product - it isn't suitable for hot beverages. If you're someone who prefers drinking tea or coffee, this may not be the best option for you. Additionally, I found it slightly difficult to fit the bottle in my usual cup holders, which can be inconvenient during travel or at the gym.
Overall, the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle did an incredible job of keeping my drinks cold and providing a leak-proof, easy-to-clean design. Although there were minor drawbacks, I still enjoyed its benefits and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish water bottle.

🔗Stanley 1.1 Qt. Legendary Classic Canteen - BPA-Free Stainless Steel

https://preview.redd.it/fva5u8074r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=021a8e122aa23b47e0dbf977a9a0b77939f8066e
I recently had the chance to try out the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen, a 18/8 stainless steel bottle that promises to be leakproof, packable, and perfect for outdoor use. At first glance, the canteen looks sleek and sturdy, with a classic design that makes it easy to hold and carry around. It comes equipped with a removeable carrying strap that keeps your hands free and adds a touch of style to the canteen.
One of the standout features of this canteen is its non-insulated stainless steel material, which allows for easy packing while still offering a decent capacity for your favorite beverage. However, I found that the lack of insulation means that the canteen doesn't retain temperature as well as I would have liked. While it's fine for day-to-day use, it's not ideal for taking on long hikes or camping trips where maintaining the temperature of your drink is important.
Another downside to the canteen is the attached cap, which can be a bit tricky to open and close, especially with one hand. Though I appreciate the convenience of having it attached, it would be nice if the cap were more user-friendly and easy to access. Additionally, the metal clips on the carrying strap can be quite loud when walking or hiking, which can be a bit distracting and might not be the most discreet choice for stealthily navigating through the wilderness.
Despite these minor drawbacks, overall I found the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen to be a functional and stylish option for everyday use. It's a good choice if you're looking for a versatile water bottle that won't break the bank, but just remember to manage your expectations when it comes to insulation and noise.

🔗Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen: Triple-Insulated, Wide-Mouth Drink Container with Quick Sip Lid

https://preview.redd.it/g8jdgja74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5900642083119fc5f56b1e9d8f8477efab04f303
The Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen boasts a spacious 950mL capacity, perfect for hydration while on the go. Its quick sip lid adds convenience to everyday use, and the signature flat sides and Duraprene finish ensure a secure grip.
Triple-insulation maintains drinks at their desired temperature for extended periods, making it an ideal choice for both hot and chilled beverages alike. A wide mouth allows for ice cube insertion, while the lid's easy-to-use one-hand opening adds practicality.
Regrettably, some users have experienced issues with the lid's functionality and structure, which may prove a disadvantage for those seeking a seamless drinking experience. Nonetheless, for those seeking a durable, stylish, and functional water bottle, the Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen offers an impressive range of features.

🔗Versatile Insulated Water Bottle with Cup Lid

https://preview.redd.it/ba7lnum74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4236dde9fc2a1109edb6d8a02ff4d627c9fb186e
This Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle, aptly named "Nightfall, " has become an essential companion in my daily life. The bottle's robustness and dependability have captivated me, as my newfound favorite keeps the brew piping hot during those frigid mornings or even chills your favorite beverage during scorching summer days.
One of the key features that have blown my mind is its innovative, leak-proof design. By using the twist-and-pour stopper, it ensures that my adventures are safe from any accidental mishaps involving the bottle. Moreover, the slim design makes it the perfect single-handed companion, ensuring a comfortable grip.
However, there are a couple of minor nits. The lid being insulated and doubling as a cup is a fantastic idea, but I found it a tad more tedious than convenient during my first few times. Additionally, while the bottle's sturdiness won my heart, it unfortunately lacks a wider mouth, which might make it a bit more practical for my soup-loving, chunky ingredients cravings.
The Stanley's performance has made me believe it's not just about the product but also about the spirit of adventure it represents - one sip at a time. Despite a few minor quirks, it's a reliable bottle worth every penny spent.

🔗Corkcicle Star Wars Darth Vader Canteen: Sleek and Stylish Insulated Travel Drink Bottle

https://preview.redd.it/xxibmox74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6584f5a3f92b026e1f6c93d8578b4827c47490b6
Crafted in the image of the infamous Darth Vader, this Corkcicle Star Wars canteen is not just a stylish way to keep your drinks cool. The 16-ounce canteen promises to keep beverages cold for up to 25 hours or warm for 12, all thanks to its triple-insulated lining. Its stainless steel construction ensures it's not just durable but also perfect to use in any setting, be it by the pool or at the office. The canteen is equipped with a screw-on cap that prevents any liquid from escaping and keeps the temperature consistent inside. The ergonomic design and flat sides make it easy to grip, and its stay-put silicone base ensures it stays securely in your hand, avoiding any spills.
My experience with this canteen has been nothing but stellar. The Star Wars design is not just aesthetically pleasing but also adds a fun touch to my everyday life. The triple-insulation keeps my beverages at their desired temperature for longer, especially during our hot summers. The cap is a great feature that prevents leaks and spills, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold. However, I wish the product was dishwasher safe as the paint tends to peel off after a few uses, which can be a bit disappointing.

🔗Premium High-Performance Goalie Blades for Enhanced Ice Skating

https://preview.redd.it/v6nom9a84r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47b008d8785f16fed2eb4304d81b2404921a0708
I recently tried the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair, and I was blown away by its performance. The superior edge quality is evident as it slices through the ice with minimal resistance, providing sharp, fluid movements that make it a game-changer for any goalie.
Designed specifically for CCM 2-Bolt Goalie Cowlings, this complete set comes with both left and right runners, ensuring perfect fit and seamless functionality. Made in Canada, the high-quality craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of the blade, from its sleek design to its exceptional edge durability.
While the hardest possible edge offered by Step Steel Black is undoubtedly impressive, I also appreciate the added Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the mirror side finish, which significantly boosts blade performance by generating a winning combination of low friction and high surface hardness.
What sets Step Steel apart from other blade manufacturers is their innovative aspect ratio, which accelerates pushes across the crease for modern butterfly and hybrid goaltenders. The taller blades and truer profile offer added stability, precision, and width, ensuring less bending or improper sizing upon receiving the product.
Overall, the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair is a game-changing product that combines superior edge quality, innovative design, and unrivaled performance. If you're looking to enhance your goaltending experience, look no further than Step Steel.

2024.05.21 07:59 Mullin_Pangolin Taylors reflected in Betty-James-August girl triangle

In light of the rich perspectives TTPD is giving us, the whole gaylor collective is shifting more into trying to interpret songs as the multitudes of Taylor conversing. And that was drilled into my mind enough that I got to reassessing the semi-cheating-justifier-trio storyline in folklore. And wow did it fit all too well.
So, Betty and James go way back, seemingly with intricately interwoven lives. When Betty felt undesired by everyone else, James treasured her. She knew there was only ever going to be James, even when James reluctantly left (“last train”). She still knew ultimately James would be back after all the thrill, all her curses, and she knew all this young (precocious, Anyone?), with absolute certainty, despite others assuming she was too young to know. James on the other hand, felt Betty was greatly wronged/betrayed by hehim bc she/he stepped out and went with august girl for a summer. August girl meanwhile tried to lure James away with her, lamenting how she thought she had hehim but she/he was never hers. All through the affair she was content with wanting, bc they were changing for the better and she lived for the hope of it all.
Noticeably all three were written in a somewhat sympathetic light. Betty described James’ leaving as almost reluctant/half-forced, with initially good intentions or at least after having fought tooth and nail for them (“last train”, “tried to change the ending”), despite James obviously wallowing in self-blame. August girl was simply struck with yearning and too naïvely hopeful. So what if it’s bc all three are her? Betty is the queer identity, James the chaser of success and happiness, august girl the Puppet Taylor.
Betty POV- queer identity Taylor- cardigan
August girl POV- Industry puppet Taylor- august
James POV- Chaser Taylor- betty
James and Betty started off together in cardigan, bc Taylor the chaser started off having her queer identity tightly in her hands while she pursued a musical career.
“Vintage tee, brand new phone / High heels on cobblestones”
“Sequin smile, black lipstick / Sensual politics” (Note: Reference to bleachella look?
All these a front, but Betty knew the real James, someone who cherished her queerness. Yet,
“A friend to all is a friend to none / Chase two girls, lose the one”
Chaser Taylor tried to please everyone and ended up a friend to none, not even a friend of Dorothea. She tried to chase after happiness in queer relationships and a successful career, but ends up losing the one that mattered the most.
“Playing hide-and-seek and / Giving me your weekends”
“Your heartbeat on the High Line / Once in 20 lifetimes”
“To kiss on cars and downtown bars” “You drew stars around my scars”
Chaser Taylor had to hide her queer identity, only being able to give Betty her non-work time, but they were still making it work. Here I see a montage of her recollections of her wlw relationships, and possibly why it seems to fit multiple muses, bc it’s an amalgamation of her embracing her queer identity in private. But then of course, she’s pulled apart from her queer identity after fighting valiantly. James had to leave Betty behind. “They” assume she knows nothing but she knew even then,
“…you’d linger like a tattoo kiss / …you’d haunt all of my what-ifs / The smell of smoke would hang around this long”
“I’d curse you for the longest time / Chasing shadows in the grocery line” (note: chasing shadows to hide maybe? also ref to Peter Pan again?
And she was right. Choices made by James continues to haunt her and bleed into everything she does. The smokes and mirrors put up by James restrict viable paths Betty can take to this day. But she also knows,
“…you’d miss me once the thrill expired / And you’d be standing in the front porch light”
Taylor knew the Chaser in her is going to be back to embrace her queer self. The plan she had was always to eventually be her queer self authentically, after the fame and glory wears off. Whether that’s fading out of spotlight and living as a queer woman openly but privately, or doing so publicly. I think that’s why she said in her mind Betty and James got their happily ever after. (Note: Also “front porch light” has been referenced how many times now? It’s linking “cardigan” back to TTPD’s “FOTS” and “Peter.” I’m calling them to all be about this theme. “The Alchemy” too, bc I’m heavily suspicious that one of the layers of that song is Peter being the one that’s come back and is now touching down, aside from the layer of Taylor coming back on tour after nearly five years.)
Another interesting thing is the question of why she chose a cardigan to represent her queer self being unwanted/discarded or accepted/wore with affection? And why white? Is it somehow a wordplay or pun?
Anyway, on to august.
Interesting how she never named august girl. Two reasons I settled on. One, august girl was never a real identity—she was a compromise for Pcareer reasons, a distraction/means for James that hurt Betty. But we’re sympathetic! Why? This brings us to reason two—she didn’t name her bc she also wanted to emphasize the month august. What happened and which august? Well, in August 2018, according to Billboard, her team proposed to Big Machine that her masters be sold back to her. Now there’s a whole new layer of that song also being about the failed buy back of her masters.
One layer: August girl aka Puppet PR Taylor lured James into bearding and aggressive PR-ing and who-knows-what-else, told her to “get in the car.” The getaway car maybe? First it was all tentative but then it got out of hand, and maybe it also put stress on her real relationships, having to “cancel plans just in case you’d call” and “meet me behind the mall” where they could be unseen and plot PR stunts. Or maybe that was hiding with her queer partner. Or it’s referring to being at the beck and call of whatever the industry demanded of her. Nevertheless she persevered, bc she thought things were changing for the better, and the wanting, living for the hope of it all was enough for her. She thought one day it’d be over, she could claim her Chaser side, the brand the Chaser built, and that hope kept her going. But no, “you were never mine.”
“So much for summer love and saying ‘us’ / Cause you weren’t mine to lose”
So much for the brand and image being in her name, when she owned none of it and wasn’t even free to lose it at will. She can’t even choose to lose the façade. (Note: Is this “us” also the book in the fortnight mv? The story of us?)
Another layer: Puppet PR Taylor stunting and enduring bullying/abuse in the industry in the hopes of one day taking control of her own brand. She wants to buy back the masters badly and claim the whole thing.
“Your back beneath the sun / Wishing I could write my name on it”
She literally wants to own James. Also her back catalogue, she wants that under her name. Now “cancel plans just in case you’d call and say ‘meet me behind the mall’” becomes waiting for the call to come for her to finally acquire her life’s work. All the “it was never mine”, “you were never mine” now seem doubly bitter, wistful and hopeless. “For me it was enough” seems impossibly naïve and resigned. “For the hope of it all” seems like incredibly ill-placed faith in now-bittersweet innocence. So yes, we are extremely sympathetic to august girl.
(Note: Also, the Spotify reel for august is the colored, close up on Taylor version of the epiphany reel. Perhaps epiphany has another layer that symbolizes fighting to complete exhaustion and witnessing horrible ends around her in the industry, and just praying for some enlightenment?)
Last, James’ POV in betty.
I found it quite funny that there was the line saying James was “walking home on broken cobblestones” and the Spotify reel is Taylor walking on a short wall of stones. Top tier humor. Also are the broken cobblestones also the broken yellow brick road? Anyway. The first line about switching homerooms made me think of changing labels immediately. Like maybe Betty could’t bear the bullying and forced closeting that James was willing to endure anymore. Or maybe it’s about her queer Identity just having checked out and compartmentalized so deeply away that she feels a keen divide btw the career-driven part of her and her queer identity. I can’t quite wrap my head around what the betrayal getting back to Betty via rumors from a sketchy source is paralleling, so for now I’m just chalking it up to storytelling purposes. I think it means something important to the story here tho.
The line about leading to the garden does call back to numerous lyrics seemingly referencing it as a place of real, authentic joy and happiness. She’s asking if she turned around and embraced her queer self now, will she find that happiness (again)? And again, “will you kiss me on the porch”? The porch is mentioned yet again. She said “it was just a summer thing” and “I dreamt of you all summer long,” bc all while she chased success losing herself to the PR, she never stopped dreaming of being true to her queer identity. And she knows where it all went wrong:
“Your favorite song was playing / From the far side of the gymI was nowhere to be found / I hate the crowds, you know that / Plus, I saw you dance with him”
I feel like this is alluding to the fact that she felt there was no place for her beside Betty in public. She hates the crowds—the public eye. She can’t embrace her queer self in public, plus she saw how dancing with “him” was acceptable in the crowd. So when the getaway car came, promising all sorts of things, she got in.
And finally, the line,
“I’m only 17, I don’t know anything / But I know I miss you”
2020 was the year folklore came out. 17 years before that was 2003, the year Taylor’s family moved to Nashville for her to try for a career. James was 17 bc her chase for a career started 17 years ago, and that’s when she was born.

2024.05.21 07:56 Sea-Voice4903 Mechanics of the Timeline Merge (Theory)

When considering how Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are related to previous games in the Official Timeline, the most credited theory among fans seems to be that both games take place after a merge occurs between the three Timeline branches. This post proposes how such a Merge could have occurred and the ongoing effects from it that set up the Era leading into both games.
It's important to detail the foundation of this theory. Before BoTW's release, the only game that the Devs could tell us came concretely before it on the timeline was Ocarina of Time. Skyward Sword was clearly concretely before that, as evidenced by the existence of the Master Sword, Goddess Statues, and three Springs. The Devs also stated that game specifically took place after Ganon(dorf) had been defeated and revived numerous times. Throughout the game's lifespan, this seemed to automatically mean that it couldn't follow the Adult Timeline as Ganondorf was only defeated twice, and at no point was revived. Then came Fujibiyashi's fated comment, which gave this theory its first bit of credibility. When asked which game or timeline BoTW followed after, he simply stated that it took place in a future so distant that it took place after all of them.
Upon the release of ToTK, what seemed to be a major contradiction was resolved. When making their statement that BOTW takes place in a timeline where Ganondorf had been defeated and revived numerous times, the Adult Timeline didn't seem to fail that essential criteria. Given that ToTK's Ganondorf comes into the world after all the previous games and not before (as evidenced by the fact that Hyrule Castle had remained untouched since the Distant Past), the Adult Timeline can be reconciled as he counts as a "reincarnation" or "revival" of Ganondorf's spirit.
What that does seem to preclude, though, is the idea that the "Era of the Wild" takes place in an alternate timeline that branches off from Skyward Sword. While an interesting concept, the idea that ToTK's Ganondorf is the first occurrence completely contradicts all the previously mentioned statements made by the Developers. It's easy to see why people think this may be the case, especially considering all between parrelels to OoT's plot and ToTK's. Indeed, one may even be tempted to say that "OoT" still precludes BOTW because ToTK is somehow just a more accurate retelling of OoT's story. Those parrelels will be explained in-depth (ba dum tiss) later on while still respecting the other statements made by the Devs.
The latest major statement made by the Devs is that a previous Hyrule could have been destroyed and thus its history with it. The dubious nature of the statement makes it much easier to leave that fact undecided and thus leave it up to the fans if they want to believe that. Specifically acknowledging the idea in the first place is major, when considering that there was no conversation or concrete discussion of this concept prior. Just entertaining the idea alone seems to create some serious inferences about Hyrule's lore.
One major theme tackled by ToTK is "rebirth". The evidence of Chinese influence on Zonai architecture is extremely obvious, and one of the most telling uses of iconography is the use of the Lotus. Throughout their architecture, Lotus Buds and Blossoms are ubiquitous. Within Ancient Hyrule Castle, the stained gladden window situated highest within the thrown room shows an unmistakable White Lotus. What might not be obvious to players (especially in the West) is the significance of that symbol.
In ancient Chinese mythology, the symbol of the upcoming Buddha was the White Lotus. During a specific uprising, fanatics even believed that a specific revolutionary was that very Buddha. When referring to this specific Buddha, this religious sect even used the Honorary Title ascribed to the foretold Buddha, "The King of Light", to describe the movement's leader. "The King of Light" is an obvious way to describe Rauru, too. He is literally a King who commands power over Light. As a parrelel to Buddhas in the sense of being those who lead the world out of perennial dark ages where civility is remiss; Rauru, too, seems destined to return civility back to a world that is experiencing a Dark Age of its own.
Given all that, how does BoTW's Zelda know of supposed events from ages past if they're from seperate timelines and that history was destroyed? ToTK's answer to this is Recall. Sonia is very explicitly referred to as a Priestess, and her talent is one shared by all of those who share her bloodline. As described by Sonia, Recall is the act of, "coaxing an object; asking where it is, where its been, and how it got to where it is. Then making it retrace its steps back in time." This would explain the gradual renesscaince over the eons of information, specifically glimpses into events from several different timelines as mentioned in Link's Knighting Ceremony. Those gifted with Recall would pull information throughout the land in said "glimpses", never having a full enough picture to realize that the events seen had taken place in different timelines. It would also explain how vivid imagery of the Triforce exists, despite the fact the Triforce seems to have played no role throughout this era's history.
The fact that so many souls exist in The Depths and that the Poe Collector Statues had their powers sealed away at some point seems to be greatly important. Despite the fact that characters directly mirroring those from OoT seem to have made their way into the world, one notable archetype missing is the Spirit of The Hero. What I'm proposing is that the Poes beneath are all lingering souls who were around during the occurrence of the Merge that were already dead, physically succumbed due to changes in terrain, or passed after being subjected to great confusion from the resulting Merge. The Statues would exist for the sheer purpose of ferrying this new excess of souls to the Pure World, but then Hyrule was left with a major problem. As foretold by Princess Zelda, Link bearing the Spirit of the Hero would emerge later on and pose a threat to the Demon King. If the Statues were allowed to go on unchecked, its likely that the precursors to the Shiekah had feared that its possible that The Spirit of The Hero would be lost to the Pure World instead of reincarnating. This explains the Statues having had their powers being sealed, and why at some point one of the Statues decided to sap the life away from one of the Yiga.
Another issue reconciled by the idea that all the timelines have merged is the Recorded History of Zora's Domain. The King of Hyrule and of the Zoras were said to have built the Great Zora Dam some 10,000 years ago in response to periodic floods that affected both Zora and Hylians. This allowed for the thereafter creation of the Zora's Domain that we see in BoTW. I took major issue with this being the canonical explanation for the creation of Zora's Domain, as BOTW was said to take place an unfathomable amount of time after OoT. The Zora King from OoT was said to be the 16th in a line of succession by Hyrule Historia for crying out loud! Calamity Ganon's previous resurgence itself is said to have taken place approximately 10,000 years ago, and yet again he has come back several times throughout Hyrule's history. If we take the creation of Zora's Domain to specifically mean a version specific to the Era of the Wild, this would alleviate the glaring inconsistencies in their tale. The Zoras in fact seem nothing but keen on keeping accurate historical records.
Of great interest to me is ToTK's new Stone Tablets. In one of them, Sidon specifically states that in a tale passed on by the Zora that the mountain range that now make up their home was long ago driven upward with so much force that it pierced the clouds above and caused torrential downpours to occur. These downpours are what created the Lanayru Wetlands, and I'm also assuming why Central Hyrule was depicted as a floodplain in the Forgotten Temple's Map Room. The later creation of the Great Dam would then have logically occluded enough water flow to allow Central Hyrule to dry back up, and allow the Zora to build their Domain. Behind the Waterfall that cascades from the pool that makes up the current Domain is a cave that roughly matches the shape of OoT's Domain, albeit much smaller and less detailed in features. It's within this cave that Vah Rutah's Helm is found.
Given the magnitude of force needed to cause the Lanayru Mountain Range to rise, one can only assume that an event of great magnitude had to have occurred to trigger this. Given Akkala's resemblance to the 1st TLoZ's map, it doesn't seem out of the question that the original landmass was more separated and that a collision between the Akkalla and Lanayru regions caused the shift. If the cave behind Zora Waterfall was the original Domain, then the lake its now built upon would have been previous the apex of the mountain range and former home to Jabu-Jabu. The major rifts in the north and western regions of Hyrule also seem to go without explanation, with the Forgotten Temple likely been built at ground level before their opening caused its collapse. The idea that the Merge was the cause of these events is conjecture, but it would give a satisfactory reason for the change.
While I could go on I would be curious to hear your thoughts. What do you think?

2024.05.21 07:13 tab_rick Why is Countertop Thickness Important?

Why is Countertop Thickness Important?
You know, when it comes to countertops, thickness is kind of a big deal. A beefier countertop can handle all the kitchen chaos – from your knife skills to those steaming pots. It’s less likely to give in and crack when things get tough. And if you’re dreaming of those fancy edges you’ve seen in home mags, a thicker top is your ticket.
But it’s not just about thickness. The thickness can totally change the vibe of your space. Want to make a statement? Go thick and let that countertop shine. If you’re chasing a sleek, minimalist look, then slim it down. And if you ever decide to move, a solid countertop can be a sweet selling point. So, picking the right thickness? It’s not just about looks—it’s a smart move for your home’s worth too.

8 Tips for Choosing the Ideal Solid Surface Countertop Thickness

Picking the right countertop thickness? Sounds like a puzzle, right? I mean, what’s the usual thickness? And how does a solid surface stack up against natural stone? If these questions are buzzing in your head, you’re not alone. But don’t stress! I’ve got eight handy tips coming up to help you nail that decision and find the just-right thickness for your digs.

1: Available Thickness Options and How to Choose

When considering a solid surface countertop, one of the pivotal decisions is selecting the right thickness. Let’s break down the options to help you make an informed choice for your space:
Standard Thickness (1/2 inch or 12mm): Think of this as the classic choice. It’s adaptable, lightweight, and ideal for areas like bathroom vanities. If your countertop won’t face intense daily use, this option is both practical and often more budget-friendly.
Medium Thickness (3/4 inch or 20mm): This is the balanced choice, suitable for the majority of kitchens. It offers resilience for daily kitchen activities without overwhelming the space visually.
Thick Countertops (1 inch or 25mm and above): The robust option. Tailored for high-traffic areas requiring durability, it also brings an elevated, sophisticated aesthetic to your space.
Remember, the right thickness is a blend of functionality and aesthetics tailored to your specific needs.

2: Choose Thickness Based on Functional Intent

https://preview.redd.it/g31zkaebqp1d1.png?width=612&format=png&auto=webp&s=26532ece1ee014dafbcb7f8493397db34a002557
Alright, so you’re getting a new countertop, and you’re stuck on how thick it should be. The key is to think about what you’re actually going to use it for. Let’s break it down:
Light-Duty Areas (1/4 inch or 6mm):
Functional Intent: These are spaces that don’t see heavy use but still require a touch of elegance.
Ideal for: Backsplashes, wall panels, and decorative vertical applications. This thickness is more about aesthetics than heavy-duty function.
Moderate Use Areas (1/2 inch or 12mm):
Functional Intent: Suitable for areas that see regular but not heavy-duty use.
Ideal for: Bathroom vanities, home desks, or laundry room surfaces. They can handle occasional spills and weight but aren’t meant for heavy kitchenware or constant pounding.
Everyday Use Areas (3/4 inch or 20mm):
Functional Intent: Designed for spaces that see daily activities and need to be both durable and stylish.
Ideal for: Standard kitchen countertops, breakfast nooks, or home bars. They’re robust enough to handle the daily grind of cooking, chopping, and regular kitchen tasks.
High-Traffic and Heavy-Duty Areas (1 inch or 25mm):
Functional Intent: Meant for areas that see a lot of action, heavy items, or commercial use.
Ideal for: Busy family kitchens, commercial kitchens, or workspaces in restaurants. They’re built to withstand the challenges of a bustling environment.
Statement or Luxury Areas (11/2 inches or 38mm):
Functional Intent: Beyond functionality, these are also about making a bold design statement.
Ideal for: Luxury kitchen islands, high-end bars, or commercial spaces aiming for a luxe feel. The added thickness not only provides durability but also exudes opulence.
So, when you’re picking out your solid surface countertop, think about what you’ll use it for and how much abuse it’s going to take. Whether you’re going for style, function, or a bit of both, there’s a thickness that’s just right for you.

3: Correlation Between Thickness and Design

  • The Sleek Minimalist (1/4 inch or 6mm):
Design Vibe: Modern and simple. This thin profile shows contemporary elegance.
Perfect For: Modern homes with a simple design. It’s subtle, doesn’t dominate the space, and complements clean lines and neutral palettes.
  • The Everyday Classic (1/2 inch or 12mm):
Design Vibe: Versatile and timeless. It’s the kind of thickness that fits just about anywhere.
Perfect For: Traditional homes or spaces that blend the old with the new.
  • The Balanced Act (3/4 inch or 20mm):
Design Vibe: Modern and cozy. It’s got presence, but it’s not overpowering.
Perfect For: Those in-between spaces that aren’t super old-school but aren’t ultra-modern either.
  • The Bold Statement (1 inch or 25mm):
Design Vibe: Luxurious and commanding.
Perfect For: Spaces that aim for a touch of opulence. Think high-end homes, luxury condos, or any space that wants to exude richness.
  • The Grandeur (11/2 inches or 38mm):
Design Vibe: Grand and fancy.
Perfect For: Perfect for those plush villas or sky-high penthouses.
When picking a countertop, think about how you want your place to feel. Do you want it to feel cozy, fancy, or something in between? There is always a thickness that can meet your needs.

4: Durability of Different Thicknesses

It’s a general rule of thumb: the thicker the countertop, the more durable it is. Thicker countertops, especially those made of robust materials like quartzite, resist chipping, cracking, and other wear forms better than thinner ones. However, the material’s quality, such as solid surface countertops, is equally crucial. A high-quality 2 cm countertop might outlast a low-quality 3 cm one. It’s essential to balance thickness with material quality.

5: Budget is Also Part of the Consideration

Budget plays a significant role in any renovation or design project. Thicker countertops, especially those with custom edge designs like bullnose or half-bullnose, can be pricier. However, they might offer better longevity, translating to cost savings in the long run. It’s crucial to weigh the initial investment against the countertop’s lifespan and the value it adds to your space.

6: Edge Styles Should Fit With the Countertop

1/4 inch (6mm) Pencil, Beveled
1/2 inch (12mm) Pencil, Beveled, Bullnose, Waterfall
3/4 inch (20mm) Eased, Bullnose, Beveled, Ogee, Waterfall, Mitered
1 inch (25mm) Eased, Bullnose, Beveled, Ogee, Waterfall, Mitered, Dupont, Chiseled
1 1/2 inches (38mm) Eased, Bullnose, Beveled, Ogee, Waterfall, Mitered, Dupont, Chiseled, Cove, Stair Tread, Marine Edge

7: Easy Installation and Light Weight

If you want a countertop that’s easy to install, go for a thinner solid surface option, around 1/4 inch thick. They’re lightweight and hassle-free during the installation process. Thinner countertops may not be as durable as thicker ones, but you can still achieve a thicker appearance by adding edge details. Just consult a professional to find the best fit for you.

8: Easy to Maintain

Now, let’s talk about maintenance. Solid surface countertops are a breeze to maintain. Here’s why:
They’re stain-resistant, so spills won’t create stubborn marks.

All you need is a damp cloth and mild soap for easy cleaning; no need for fancy or harsh chemicals.
If scratches or burns happen, many can be buffed out, and professional refinishing is available for more serious damage.
You don’t have to worry about using regular household cleaners; these countertops can handle them without harm.
In short, solid surface countertops are a dream to maintain. They resist stains, are easy to clean, fixable, and can withstand regular cleaning routines without worry. So, enjoy your beautiful countertops with peace of mind and less hassle.

2024.05.21 06:08 namdonith Bill Simmons Ryen Russillo so anti-Gobert

They talk about how AG didn’t do enough and Denver needs more from him, w/out mentioning how Rudy shut him down. Talked about how KAT was the best defender on Joker, w/out crediting that he could only guard Joker because the defensive scheme had Rudy on Gordon so he could help off of him and protect the rim, they say they were expecting Finch to bench Rudy after the half…
Jokic and Murray took 20+ threes when that two-man game is built to get to the rim, totally got them out of their preferred offense, and they give Rudy no respect. Makes me so mad

2024.05.21 05:23 Select-Ad8271 Why was I made this way

I don't know what I did to deserve being born as a woman. Literally everybody hates women and likes to see them fail, be embarassed, and get hurt. Being a man is so much better.
I wish my parents killed me as a baby, it would have been the rational thing to do. China has had a history of female infanticide for 2000 years and their society was not hindered by this. They recognized that men were more valuable than women and so they killed many of their female babies. They put us in piles of trash or drowned us or left us alone to starve.
I cant live this half-life anymore, being half as strong as men, half as funny, half as good at leading, crying more and being more emotional and scared. Look it up, all of these are proven. Its worse than being dead to live this way, its an embarassment.
Womens' hormones during their reproductive years even make them more likely to have depression and mood swings than men, while testosterone has an antidepressant effect and increases motivation and risktaking. Men are biologically more brave and adventurous. Living as a woman is full of pain, including every month just for existing.Because of this even simply existing in a womans' body is worse.
Men are able to do much more interesting things because they are stronger. Puberty makes men stronger and gives women the ability to give birth. Given the chance, I would have chosen to become stronger.
Men evolved to be hunters, protectors, and warriors in hunter-gatherer societies while women were gatherers and reared children. Men fought all the wars with other tribes and women were kidnapped from their villages after a war and taken as property because they were helpless to defend against their invaders. I would have preferred to be a huntewarrior, of course, and be built that way. Men have the honour of being able to say their bodies are built for fighting.
People may say they like women but what they mean is they like women who do what they want and behave how they want. Men dominate in relationships and in bed, while women submit. I don't want to submit, but if I don't people say its unnatural and no one will want me. Maybe it is, considering what I wrote before. So I can never be in a relationship in this body in the way I want.
From the stone age to 1950 or so women were prevented from making scientific discoveries, leading, and making contributions to society, and our society made many advances. So how can we say that women are valuable? How can we say that patriarchy is not justifiied? We have never even had a president thats a woman before in the U.S., or a female prime minister in Canada. No one wants to elect one.
The saddest thing is sometimes i catch myself accepting how many things I cant do, accepting a life where I am unfulfilled and limited this way, where I can't take risks and have adventures and enjoy what I want, (Most of the things I want to do have men in the vast majority of participants, including reddit) and it makes me sad. This is why I'm going to commit suicide. I can't live in this small, sad life and body anymore. I can't sit here and rot for 60 years.
Soon I will be diving headfirst onto the sidewalk from a high building. My weak woman's skull will shatter quickly and easily and my brains will spill out onto the concrete.
I'm waiting until my birthday in a couple months, and in the meantime I will try to do all the things that I enjoy and are on my bucket list. Even this proves hard however knowing I am stuck in this embarassing body in the meantime. I can't even go out at night to look at the stars in case I get raped or attacked. And its dangerous to do things alone as a woman. If I get attacked, people will blame me, wondering how I could be so stupid to have been out alone, been out in a new place, etc. So, maybe I should end it quicker.
My only hope of living how I want is if reincarnation exists, but even if it doesn't I still prefer being dead to being alive like this.
TL;DR, All of this is to say, I can't take the limited existance of being a woman anymore and I am going to move onto the next life soon.
