2024.05.21 21:06 CampingWorld What Are The Best RV Trips for Beginners?
There’s a lot to learn when you’re new to RVing. After purchasing your RV and equipping it with the right gear, the last thing you want is to feel overwhelmed trying to select where to camp. So we asked the question: what are the best RV trips for beginners?
Of course, we have our own opinions, but we wanted to see what the RV community felt. We asked experienced RVers which destinations or campgrounds they would recommend for beginners. With over 150 replies, here are the top five answers:
- Somewhere close to home
- State parks
- Good Sam Campgrounds
- Your backyard
- National parks
(Runner-up: Wal-Mart parking lot).
Why Stay Close to Home on Your First RV Trip as a Beginner?
The overwhelming majority of experienced RVers recommended sticking to somewhere close to home as a beginner. Their reasons were practical:
- You know where to go (home or familiar stores) if you forget supplies.
- You’re not far from your community if you need help.
- If something breaks down, towing your RV back to your house won't take long or cost too much.
- You do less driving and more time getting familiar with your RV.
- You won’t hurt your wallet on gas expenses if you overpack (which most first-timers do!)
Boondocking in your backyard is a great way to
learn about your RV and its systems. Just remember: Depending on your RV, you’ll need potable water, a way to empty your holding tanks, and a proper power supply –
30 or 50 amps.
Which Locations Make For The Best RV Trips for Beginners?
We collected specific recommendations for those who want to venture out while staying close to home. These came directly from experienced RVers nationwide who were willing to share their favorite destinations for RV newbies.
Because we don’t know where home is for you, we organized this list of the best RV trips for beginners and organized them by region.

2024.05.21 21:01 Impossible_444 Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) 1Q24 Earnings Call Takeaways (from EarningsDigest.ai)
📈 A*
mazon's *1Q24 total revenue of $143.3 billion grew by 13% year-over-year. This growth was achieved by focusing on expanding selection, providing faster delivery, and offering customer-saving benefits such as grocery delivery and promotional events. The company also saw strong growth in its third-party logistics business and advertising services. Additionally, the AWS segment experienced accelerated year-over-year revenue growth of 17.2%, up from 13.2% in the previous quarter.
💰 In the first quarter of 2024, Amazon reported its highest quarterly operating income ever at $15.3 billion, which was a significant increase of 221% year-over-year or $10.5 billion. The North America segment operating margin was 5.8%, representing an improvement of 460 basis points year-over-year, while the international segment operating margin was 2.8%, illustrating an increase of 710 basis points year-over-year. These improvements were attributed to strong operational performance and lower cost to serve, including benefits from regionalization efforts and savings from more consolidated customer shipments. Additionally, the AWS segment saw its operating income increase by $4.3 billion year-over-year. The company highlighted that the majority of the recent cycle of cost optimization has been completed, leading to improved leverage in managing infrastructure and fixed costs, particularly in the AWS segment. However, it also mentioned that it anticipates a meaningful increase in capital expenditures in 2024, primarily driven by higher infrastructure CapEx to support growth in AWS, including generative AI, indicating that it is focused on driving efficiencies across its business to support strong growth.
🔮 Looking ahead, Amazon has provided forward guidance for Q2 net sales, expecting them to be between $144 billion and $149 billion, reflecting a projected growth of 7% to 11% compared with the second quarter of 2023. The company anticipates an unfavorable foreign exchange impact of approximately 60 basis points, emphasizing its cautious yet optimistic outlook.
🚨 The call also highlighted several risks, including: 1/ Capital Expenditures and Infrastructure Investments: With the accelerated growth in AWS, especially with generative AI demands, there is an expectation of meaningful increases in capital expenditures in 2024. This increased investment in infrastructure could affect short-term profitability, even though it signals confidence in long-term growth.
2/ Competition and Market Saturation: The company operates in highly competitive sectors like cloud computing (AWS), e-commerce, and advertising. It faces intense competition from other tech giants and emerging players.

Counts reported after 4/30/24 are incomplete VDH's reporting of the numbers above (Sun-Sat) is by illness date.
COVID CASES SINCE LAST REPORT BY DAY This runs report day to report day, not Sun-Sat Case numbers are from the previous day unless indicated otherwise Previous week's cases day count in parentheses after this week's day count Report covers 05/15/2024 to 05/21/2024 Wed: 166 cases (162) Thu: 186 cases (138) Fri: 169 cases (180) Sat: 158 cases (149) Sun: 103 cases ( 91) Mon: 85 cases ( 51) Tue: 218 cases (157)
As counts reported after 4/30/24 may be incomplete, I will not be computing percentages as accuracy can not be guaranteed. I will post what the 13-week graph shows. Total new cases reported (Wed-Tues): 1,085 (928 previous Wed-Tues) 7-day average of new cases: 155.0 (132.6 last report) Cases per 100,000 Population: 1.747 (1.494 last report)
Some Figures and Percentages are usually slightly rounded by VDH The 13-week graph has been posted. Curve shows a +16.92% increase. This may or may not be accurate due to voluntary reporting. But cases seem to be have been increasing for the past two weeks.
REPORTED DEATHS PER WEEK Week of: 04/21-04/27: 1 (VDH corrected from 5) 04/28-05/04: 3 (VDH corrected from 2) 05/05-05/11: 4 (VDH corrected from 3) 05/12-05/18: 0 (preliminary figure)
The VDH death rate is never put out completely up to date due to delays in death data, which can run months. The death data above has been corrected to current reported deaths from VDH sources and is always subject to change.
The larger updated death chart covering more past weeks had not been updated when I posted, so it was not uploaded. Sometimes it seems they update it late, or even later in the week.
CURRENT POSITIVITY RATE AS OF MAY 17, 2024 CDC Region 3 7-Day Positivity Rate: 1.9% (was 2.2%, -13.64%)
US National level is 3.2% (was 3.3%, revised, last week). Highest is Region 9 (AZ, CA, HI, NV) at 6.5% These are preliminary figures which the CDC may revise next week. Tests this week were done on 1,395 samples, which is low. A low sample rate can cause the Positivity Rate to report lower.
Region 3 has the
lowest Positivity Rate in the U.S., but low sampling numbers may cause a correction next Friday.
HOSPITALS NOTE: COVID-19 hospital reporting requirements expired April 30, 2024. Data is incomplete after this date. After more thought, I am changing the Weekly's Hospital report. The only graph that has meaning now is the ER visits. All others are corrupted by a lack of reporting (and labeled as so). I saw one report on X/Twitter that in one State, 91% of hospitals were voluntary reporting. By the next week it dropped to just over 50%. So bed counts, admissions, etc., are all guesses and may lead to the wrong conclusion. But it seems hospitals
are still required to report how many Covid people they diagnosed. I noticed it tracks with the Covid rates for the past several months quite closely.
VDH reported an increase of +9.7% in ER visits last week that were diagnosed as Covid (0.34% of visits). Corrected last four weeks are now listed as 0.37%, 0.34%, 0.31% and 0.34% of ER visits. Graph posted. This graph has no special wording on it about the end of hospital reporting, so it is now the only hospital chart that is accurate week-to-week.
The stopping of formal reporting, has made, for now, the hospital admissions and bed count graphs inaccurate. So while watching them and hoping of more info, I am not going to post them in the future unless reporting is restarted in the Fall. For example, this week Covid bed use dropped by -16.7% which conflicts with the increase of ER visits. The admissions chart is basically empty.
You can look at all the charts here. FINAL NOTES My best guess is we bottomed out a couple of weeks ago, and are starting to see a slow increase in cases (+9% to +15% in the past week). We'll have to watch the ER chart, Positivity data, and wastewater to try and get an idea of what is going on in Virginia.
LAYOUT
First up is the total number of new Covid Cases for last week based on Sunday to Saturday. As the corrections VDH is putting in a week after the initial release makes following a trend impossible, I have stopped computing in this area as it would probably be incorrect.
Next is a listing of the cases from the last report to this one. It usually runs from last Wednesday to Tuesday, but could move based on holidays.
Reported deaths are next, which are based on Sunday to Saturday for the weeks listed.
The CDC Region 3 7-Day Positivity Rate is next, which at the moment just confirms or changes what the CDC put out Friday. They do another run on Monday nights taking a second look at things.
Hospital information for last week is next.
VDH's main summary page is located here. You can see all the latest trends at the link above - most graphics are interactive

2024.05.21 20:46 ElegantMembership135 Great game
| My first match consisted of people on my team much higher than me, doing terrible. With more new players on the enemy team, my team didn't go to the objective to hold the point, they ran around trying to kill, but continued getting killed. Here's a huge tip; stop trying to be Shroud, or someone else, you're not them, you're not anywhere near their level. If you play the objective, you actually get more kills, because guess what? If you hold good positions on that point, you'll most likely get 3 kills before dying, a decent ratio. Please stop trying to be like Rambo, I shouldn't have to tell people how to game, but you're the reason why multiplayer gaming sucks nowadays. I'm not gonna tell what person what gun and attachments they need to use, but when you don't play objective, you'll lose, and you'll die. To those of you like that, please use your brain for once, and not think of just yourself. submitted by ElegantMembership135 to XDefiant [link] [comments] |

2024.05.21 20:34 Bossini Math help on prices for new vs old model y
I have the cash to pay for a new Tesla Model Y. I have two options, I would like your help with math/formula and show which option makes sense.
New Model Y with specific specs I want is $49,000 + taxes + fees + 0.99% 60 mos = $56,000, or $933/mo for 60 mos. [Pay MONTHLY]
USED Model Y Performance, packed with more features, only 9k miles: $41,000 + taxes + fees = $46,000 [Pay in CASH]
Questions: Should I take advantage of the 1% and have the cash sit in my 5.00% HYSA. The difference is $10,000 between two options. How much money will I make having cash sitting in my 5% HYSA (assuming it stays that way the whole way) while I take $933 out each month for the next 60 months? Keep in mind I have not even include the $7,500 federal tax credit for the new Model Y which I am indeed qualified for. Feel free to use it in math if you'd like to. I will appreciate your help with the formula of everything! Let me know if you need more info.

2024.05.21 20:22 WilbysDream CRA Site Assignments
I’m a pretty experienced CRA and have been assigned to some new studies in start-up. This is a “new” model of monitoring where you have a Remote Monitor and an Onsite Monitor for each site (not new, not sure why they dubbed it that way). All CRAs for the study have been assigned and instead of CTMs assigning sites, the Resourcing Team is doing it.
A site that is literally a 10-minute drive from my house was assigned to a CRA halfway across the country, on the very edge of our region. I reached out to the CTMs about this and they basically said it’s out of their hands because the Resourcing Team did it. This is obviously a cop out and they’re being lazy.
A month or so later some new sites were added and of course I was assigned to one of them — which is located in a different region than me. It wouldn’t be a big deal to me if my site load and distribution made sense, giving me the site that I could practically WALK to.
I told my Line Manager about it during a 1:1 and she promised to contact the CTM because she agreed there were multiple concerns — visits being cancelled due to weather and prohibiting travel, overall cost basis, etc. Well, she never did.
Fast-forward to a month later (and being assigned this additional site), I contacted the CTM again and cc’d my LM, reminding the CTM of his fiduciary responsibility to the company and, in a time of industry-wide layoffs saving money in such an obvious way is the right thing to do. He hasn’t responded in days and my LM hasn’t said anything either. My next step is to email my LM within the chain and ask her to follow-up/coordinate. Any other recommendations?
For further context this study is already a hot mess and if the market weren’t as bad as it is and availability of studies so low, I’d ask to just be taken off of this study. I’m so tired of working with incompetent and lazy people that end up causing me to have more work.

2024.05.21 20:12 Unhappy_Emergency695 AITA for selling the more expensive tickets to Ukraine immigrants?
So I am a cash desk operator at our national rail carrier in Olomouc Region, Czech Republic. I serve our customers in a small town at our local railway station. We have this system of integrated transport system, that means that you can ride a bus, train and city transport vehicles with one ticket, the capital city of the region is specific, even though it a same number of fare zones to Olomouc or the other town, you pay more on way to Olomouc because you can transfer to tramway or local bus and get around city. Now a few months ago, they, the regional council, discovered, that there are people went only to Olomouc or went through Olomouc who doesn't need the transfer to the city transport. So you can sell to the people ticket with transfer or without transfer. So today I had morning shift, in the morning I sold tickets mostly to students. Around 10 there she comes, THE CUSTOMER a.k.a. the immigrant. She wants to go to the Olomouc, and the moment she spoke, I knew that she was from the east. I asked politely, do you want with transfer on to the local city transport or without it?, She didn't respond and was scrolling through on her phone, I slightly knocked on the window and asked again. Now she said something and I didn't know what she said. By the time there was a queue of people, so I sold the customer, the more expensive ticket. Then the next in line said, that she would send a negative comment to my name via contact form. Because I didn't tried enough. Well to sum it up, I would explain the thing with the ticket if there hasn't been a queue, also she came 4 minutes before the departure, I wouldn't be possibly that quick, so she would made it on the train.
So AITA for selling the more expensive tickets to Ukraine immigrants?

2024.05.21 20:05 Fun_Illustrator3436 Is Copper perhaps the new Gold? $CTM sitting with massive copper intercepts @ Lemarchant Project
This year, money has been moving into copper as part of the continuum of the process that results in power generation.
And the demand for power generation is growing because of all the energy needed for data centers, where artificial intelligence applications are trained and live.
Getting power to where it needs to be requires generators, transmission lines, transformers, switches, regulators, and and various measuring devices, and that means miles and miles of wiring connecting everything together.
Canterra drills 28 m of 1.19 g/t Au at Lemarchant Canterra Minerals Corp. results @ Lemarchant project in central Newfoundland, Canada. The program was designed to test multiple target areas within and adjacent to the Lemarchant volcanogenic massive sulfide ("VMS") deposit, including geological and geophysical targets, as well as further define and upgrade existing resources

About Canterra MineralsCanterra Minerals is a diversified minerals exploration company with a focus on critical minerals in central Newfoundland. Canterra's projects include seven mineral deposits located in close proximity to the world-renowned, past producing ASARCO Buchans mine and Teck Resources' former past producing Duck Pond mine that produced copper, zinc, lead, silver and gold. Each of Canterra's deposits supports historical Mineral Resource Estimates prepared in accordance with National Instrument 43-101 and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum Definition Standards for Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves current at their respective effective dates (collectively the "Historical Resource Estimates").
All of Canterra's Historical Resource Estimates are deemed historical as they were prepared prior to their acquisition by Canterra. Canterra is not treating its Historical Resource Estimates as current Mineral Resources and a Qualified Person has not done sufficient work to classify the Historical Resource Estimates as current Mineral Resources. References for each historical Mineral Resource Estimate that comprise Canterra's Historical Resource Estimates and their associated Technical Reports can be found on Canterra's website. Canterra also holds exploration-stage gold properties that cover 70 km of strike of the regional gold-bearing Rogerson Lake structural corridor that hosts Calibre Mining Corporation's development stage Valentine Gold Mine. Canterra's Newfoundland gold projects have been subject to four drilling campaigns, demonstrating many gold occurrences warranting further exploration.

An increase in nightmares and hallucinations—or ‘daymares’—could herald the onset of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, say an international team led by researchers at the University of Cambridge and King’s College London. The researchers argue that there must be greater recognition that these types of mental health and neurological symptoms can act as an early warning sign that an individual is approaching a “flare,” where their disease worsens for a period.

The effects of these practices are mostly positive and occasionally transformational, yet they are known to sometimes be associated with challenging altered states of consciousness. New research by a team including investigators from Massachusetts General Hospital reveals that altered states of consciousness associated with meditation practice are far more common than expected. Although many people reported positive outcomes, that were sometimes even considered transformational, from these experiences, for a substantial

Have to be really flexibel and be able to switch my workload between very diverse subjects. Also financially unstable business.
