2024.05.21 14:41 taigathecat Rhinoplasty & facial contouring at AB Plastic Surgery

Rhinoplasty & facial contouring at AB Plastic Surgery
Prefacing this by saying I did get a discount for posting reviews but this is my honest opinion.
Procedures: rhinoplasty, cheekbone reduction, mandible reduction
How I found them: I was researching on the app UNNI and found the clinic’s work very tempting. I asked in a surgery Kakao Chat and was told that AB is very popular for their rhinoplasties and facial contouring. I had consulted with 4 other clinics online and ultimately AB gave me the quote I wanted and so I put down the deposit and flew to Korea May 1st.
Day of consultation: the facility is huge, clean and modern. I was honestly surprised at how busy it was. I didn’t mind this too much but I know for some they prefer quieter clinics. I met my translator who would guide me throughout this whole process. My consultations were quick, mostly because I had done my own research and knew the risks and outlines of each procedure already. The questions I had were answered very concisely.
Surgery: this was where I struggled the most. I was put under GA and when I woke up I was incredibly sick. I also think the compression band they put around my ribs after my rib graft was too tight and caused me an excruciating amount of pain. I was hospitalized overnight but I do wish the nurse had checked on me more often. The next morning was very rough and I genuinely thought I was going to pass out at points, but the nurse stayed with me and my travel partner picked me up and I went back to my Airbnb.
Check ups: I had 3 check ups total. These were handled by the same nurse who was very educational and told me everything I needed to know about how to properly heal. I met with each dr one more time (for some this may not be enough but I’d assume if you insist they’d let you see them again) and they both confirmed everything went well. I did get deswelling lasers 3x, I’m curious to know if they had other treatments because some clinics have hair washing and the like but tbh I just wanted to get in and out.
Results: I’m very happy with the results! I’m still super swollen but I can definitely see my face is smaller and my nose is exactly what I asked for (same nose, just higher). Although I mostly see dramatic results with their work I would definitely suggest the clinic to those who want more natural looks as well.
All in all I’m very satisfied with my journey with AB. I had complete trust in the doctors there and was very comfortable with my translator. I do wish some parts of the aftercare were a little more personalized but I do also understand it’s a big clinic and that’s how they operate. I’ve met a few more people who plan to go there soon and I know they’ll love their results as well _^ let me know if you have any questions and sorry for the long post!

2024.05.21 14:37 Few_Occasion_5535 where to next (normal family matter)

This was going to be just a rant for my friends, but I changed my mind. (roughly translated)
So, our life had a 180 turn since saturday. After we ate lunch (~11 am), our stepmother told us, and I quote “I-message niyo si daddy niyo na ayaw niyo na tumira rito, at gusto niyo roon sa nanay ninyo (our biological mother)” I was ‘quite’ done w/ her, kasi why would a person whom I consider a mother for the last 3 years have said this and actually skipped doing my dishes. I’ll get ahead of you and say this was the last straw for her that we didn’t really expect, though we’ve been through this before.
Fastforward 1 pm, after having talked with my father abt. It, we packed our things and brought it downstairs, she knew were going to pack, she was always in touch with my father, though there were times that she was extremely furious, shouting so loud w/o regards for the neighbors in a Filipino way (if ykwim). This was one of the times; she’d scolded us about how we weren’t able to live on our own, kasi we were going to our tito and tita in _____ who were old, but had taken care of us before. For that reason, I really didn’t think we had a place to run to. Our auntie (stepmom’s sister that was actually nice) and yaya gave their pities, though I won’t go further into that. To be frank, our dad let us sleep for 4 hours.
Later I heard that my Tito had arrived at our house, and I was really bothered because he was still talking w/ my stepmom, eh it was time to go down. So I stayed upstairs, actually 'we' because my sister is also upstairs waiting to move houses. But, surprise, the stepmom visited us upstairs in a calm manner. Telling us that we talk to Tito Abt it. Then she says "Hindi ko pinagsisiraan si ___ pero ..." proceeds to show sh*t abt him, which I won't disclose. But looking back at it, he was trying to do a good thing, but my dad is often regarded as 'stubborn'. I go downstairs and we went on to buy snacks. She seemed to be in a good mood, asking us if we forgot abt anything and stuff, then we were going to leave, all seemed to be good until we got into the car, I saw my stepmom jumping in joy as she was going Inside which puzzled me.
Later, at our uncle’s place we learn more abt my stepmom, my dad’s plans and all that (which I won’t disclose). It’s Tuesday now, I’m typing all this while eating watermelon, yum. Just sharing my story, don’t try to discover who I am just wanna tell my story to someone.
I am really worried abt our dog being left.

2024.05.21 14:35 pwrpaul Deck Quote

I asked a contractor for a quote to replace an existing 460 SF (about 14’ x 33’ x 3’ off the ground) floating deck that isn’t attached to the house and is sitting on concrete pads.
They said $6000 for demo.
And to build a new deck in a slightly smaller size 416 SF (about 13’ x 32’ x 3’ off the ground) I’m being quoted $105,000 (nearly $250 per sf) Details: 1. There are 3 sets of stairs, each about 5’ wide with 3 steps. 2. Aluminum railings at the stairs. 3. Dekorator privacy walls (6’ tall x 8’ long) x 2. 4. A built in 4’ seating acting as a railing / short wall x 2 5. 4 x 2’ square planter boxes 6. Treated lumber framing 7. Helical piers 8. Attached to house with ledger board 9. Decking is Deckorators Voyage premium decking. (Premium I know —- 3x the cost of their regular decking) 10. Skirting at sides with same decking.
It’s been a while since I had to do project estimates, so maybe I’m out of touch with my numbers.
Still waiting on the other bids, but Let’s just say my jaw dropped.
Any insights are appreciated!

2024.05.21 14:05 Sunflower_Field36 For sending my condolences to my ex’s mom?

My first time posting and I just need to get this off my chest to have a better understanding. So buckle up this is going to be a long post… Names and dates have changed for protection of myself and others.
So back in 2013 I started college. I meet my core group of friends and one in particular had a very single good looking best friend. I was introduced to him. We hit it off! And ended up dating through college. We both graduated and got our degrees. There was a few hiccups that made the relationship rocky. Unfortunately we fell to the hiccups and our relationship ended in 2017. The years to follow I had asked my close friend about how he was doing and hoped all was well. I wished him nothing but the best and hoped he’d find someone to marry and have kids with. I had spoke to him once or twice after him and I had broke up. Once I found out he was dating someone I cut contact with him. By that I mean, I no longer texted him or reached out. We were more acquaintances than anything. I still had my ex’s family on Facebook after all these years. We ended things on good terms. The last thing he said to me was if you need anything give me a call. Well I would ask my friend how he was doing and what not. He told me he found a girl.(2021) I verbatim said I hope he is happy with her and hope she makes him happy. A year later they were engaged, married and had a kid all in less than a year.
I know I may sound odd/crazy for doing this. Hear me out. But when I heard they were expecting I sent them a baby gift addressed to the family. Note: I was also having very traumatic nightmares for like 2 years involving my ex. To the point I never thought they were going to go away. Also keep in mind by this point in our lives I have NOT spoken to or reached out in any way shape or form in nearly 4 years. So I thought for some dumb reason this would help the night mares go away. I boxed it up and mailed it. And I felt some type of weight lift off my shoulders. Why I couldn’t tell ya. Oddly enough nightmares stopped.
Fast forward to present day. I scrolled though my Facebook and notice my ex’s grandpa passed away on his moms side. I’m still friend with his mom on Facebook she is a very sweet kind Lady! She reminds me a lot of my own mom! Our friendship never really ended. We didn’t speak on a daily basis but still knew each other. So when I found out her father had passed away I reached out to her and shared my condolences and sympathy via private message. Note:(my own father has passed 2 years back. I can in a way relate to what she may or may not be feeling.) Everyone experience grief on multiple levels and in different ways. I kept the message very simple and to the point I quote “I’m so sorry to hear about your dad! my heart aches for you! Sending hugs!” Not but 30 min later I get a very unexpected nasty gram from my exes wife. In a very short sentence to sum up the whole “story” of her message is: “you have inserted yourself into our life multiple time on big events and it need to stop and you need to know your place. Have a great night. “ I have never spoken to this woman ever. Nor do I know who she is. And I know I haven’t inserted myself into thier life. she is putting me there and allowing the thought of me to take up space. I didn’t reply. Not because I don’t want to but because I don’t feel like wasting much more time on being nice to someone who doesn’t appreciate it. If you made it this far thanks for coming to by Ted talk.

Hair to scares for a transplant?
Hi. So I reached out to 4 hair clinics in Turkey and got mixed responses. All of them are fairly reputable. I sent them these pictures for assessment. 3 of them responded with a quote averaging 3000-4500 grafts but one of them responded and said my donor area is to scarce for a procedure and they advise against a hair transplant. What is your guys opinion?

2024.05.21 13:04 ozone_ghost Movies that can help Kids learn Programming Abilities

Movies that can help Kids learn Programming Abilities
I want to start posting movies that could inspire kids to get into programming.
To start, here are three movies that can introduce kids to some programming concepts and mindsets:

1. War Games (1983)

What it teaches: Importance of perseverance, problem-solving, thinking outside the box, and the value of trying different approaches even if they seem unlikely.
Story: The movie follows a young hacker, David Lightman (played by Matthew Broderick), who unknowingly accesses a U.S. military supercomputer programmed to simulate and control nuclear war scenarios.
Persistance and Outside the box thinking: David's determination shines when he uses social engineering and a brute-force attack to guess the password to a restricted system. He meticulously tries various combinations until he cracks it, demonstrating the value of persistence and thinking outside the box.
https://preview.redd.it/po0hlxxcdr1d1.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd85971a597fcc12c67850232cc57d56296cbc45
Hacker Mindset: Another pivotal moment is when David is captured and held in a military base. Using his wits and knowledge of technology, he manages to escape a locked room by short-circuiting an electronic door lock. This scene showcases his ingenuity and ability to think outside the box, traits that are crucial for any programmer and problem solver.
During the movie, David, tries different approaches even if they seem unlikely or naive, a great skill that we tend to lose in formal education.

2. Tron (1982)

What it teaches: Visualizes abstract programming concepts like programs, firewalls, and bits as tangible, interactive elements.
Story: The movie's protagonist, Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges), is a computer programmer who gets digitized and enters the virtual realm. "Tron" transports viewers into a digital world where programs are personified and interact within a computer system.
3D Representation of Programming Elements: Tron visualizes abstract programming concepts like programs, firewalls, and bits as tangible, interactive elements. This visualization can help kids understand these concepts better. Two examples: The character Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) represents a security program, and Bit is a small, binary entity that can only say "yes" or "no."
Bit: yes. no. yes. no. yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
With my 4-year-old son, we took inspiration from "Tron" to create these elements using LEGO toys, turning abstract programming concepts into physical objects. For instance, we represented a variable as a cuboid that could hold values. I have evolved this idea into a board game to teach the fundamentals of programming and it really helps him to see, touch and manipulate concepts.
Tron Recognizer using Lego bricks.

3. Tron: Legacy (2010)

(Might be more suitable for older children).
What it teaches: Artificial life, evolutionary algorithms, evolution strategies, evolutionary programming, and genetic algorithms, Game of Life, origin of life, morphogenesis.
Story: "Tron: Legacy" continues the story, this time focusing on Kevin Flynn's son, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), who enters the digital world to find his missing father.
Evolutionary Algorithms: The movie introduces ISOs (Isomorphic Algorithms), a spontaneously generated form of digital life within the Grid. This concept can help children discover artifitial life, artifitial intelligence, evolutionary algorithms etc.
Artificial Life: The spontaneous generation of life within electronic components/chips, as portrayed by the ISOs, brings the question of what is life and the possibility of life existing inside a digital / electronic world.
BTW: Could you tell a quote by Joshua (WOPR) in WarGames and Kevin Flynn in Tron Legacy that are almost identical?
https://preview.redd.it/6zsy3hi3er1d1.png?width=421&format=png&auto=webp&s=453f66d4c1b091dd8d3769192562b748757bb22c
I hope you enjoyed it!
Do you have other movies you would like to share that could help kids learn programming or develop a programming mindset?
