Advice on how to 100% waterproof dormers
TLDR: need best way to waterproof cape dormers with covered porch in CT.
I have a cape in Northeast CT with a covered front porch. Roof was done about 11 years ago. Pic was from roof work, I know Ice and water was extended past the transition and at least a few inches up the front of the dormer, not sure about the sides. I don’t think flashing was replaced with new, I don’t remember siding coming off. 3 years ago water started leaking into our covered porch slowly getting worse. It was coming down original roof and leaking into porch soffit. I have also inspected the roof sheathing from the crawlspaces and all 4 have signs of water. Original contractor was going to look at it but developed cancer and sadly has since passed away. Last fall I had a roof contractor come out and he put some “roof silicone” below the j channel. Temporarily fixed the issue but once temps dropped it came back. Over winter had water stains in my living room ceiling after heavy rain with snow on the roof (2 occasions).
I’ve had a few roofing companies give me estimates but everyone has different opinions on how to do it properly. I’m looking for advice on the best way to make it so I don’t have to worry about it for another 40-50 years. I think mine is a challenge because the porch roof meets right at the bottom of the dormers.
Some say they’ll run ice and water up the sides of the dormers. Others say no…they need to breath and flashing will be sufficient. One said he’d use lead flashing. One recommended rolled roofing on the porch roof. Only one has said they could repair without replacing entire front (which is fine is that’s what needs to be done). Quotes have been all over the place. We are lucky that we have the money to cover replacement within reason, but my main focus is having it done correctly and that doesn’t seem as straight forward as it should be. I’ll also note that behind the dormer siding there is no water barrier.

I have no clue what happened
So I got a used kobra 2 and it ran perfect. I printed about a dozen things with it no stringing, no nothing. But I decided to switch to a brand new nozzle because the old one was really worn out. Ever since the swap I’ve been getting horrible prints.
The first picture was a retraction test I ran immediately after a print that came out terrible using the new nozzle, these are the same settings I’ve always used. I upped the retraction and retraction speed until the retraction test came out perfect. I then printed the drawer in the second pic.
Since it came out so badly, I changed to a different retraction test, to the cubes. And it came out poorly again even when I upped the travel speed, i ran a temp tower and noticed my usual 205 was coming out bad, changed it to 195 and although it’s much better, It’s no where near where it used to be.
Is this an extrusion issue? Or maybe a bad nozzle? It’s not the filament because I have heated it and swapped to another filament to see and same problems.

I live in Texas and it is getting hot. My KSB is 7 and very small due to his tank size the first three years of his life, before I got him from a coworkers daughter. I got him a new bigger tank that is getting super hot. I have to turn down my AC to keep him from getting too hot. I have a 100 watt CHE on the warm side and that usually keeps temps at normal, but it is making my cool side too hot. The 60 watt CHE won’t heat either side enough, especially the cooler side. Do y’all have any suggestion how to maintain his temps? Pics of Bruce for tax.

Hi, I have been reading a lot of old posts about similar reactions to bug bites but I'm back at the hospital now waiting for a third time.. maybe you guys have some input.
So 11 days ago I got bit/stung by something, I just noticed a bump when I came home and thought nothing of it. The next day it started to itch like crazy and the affected area grew, like 10cm wide, red.. and a red streak appeared. I thought I scratched too hard and left it alone. I know now it could be worse than that.
Two days later I came down with a cold, or so I thought. I had a fever for 2 days and was feeling pretty bad but thought it was a common cold, just bad timing. I finally went to the health center and the lazy doctor said it looked like an allergic reaction.. Fine, I took some antihistamine but I didn't trust him so I went to the emergency room the next day and they did a couple of blood tests (I'm still waiting for the results). This doctor suspected an infection, perhaps from a tic.
I got started on antibiotics and I'm on day 4/5 now and the redness is slowly fading. I still have a stuffy nose. But I guess it's working.
Today when I woke up I felt a little weird in my other arm, like burning and a little stiff when I bend it. The area has grown and now it's going from the elbow towards my hand. I can't see any redness, only a burning sensation and I'm worried it's from the infection, or if they damaged a nerve when they drew my blood. But can that show up 5 days later?
Anyway.. Posting a pic for you to see how bad it was last week.

Note 2: Some of things do not work anymore but, a few still do.
“The Ultimate Guide to Shaving Your Pubes for Beginners (Men)
If you have a bush like Brillo© , or just want to trim up the forrest so others can pass safely, you're in the right place.
I split groin hair into 5 different groups. Below I have listed the difficulty of each area as well as what kind of shave each area shall receive.
This is what we want the end product to look like. (His pubes look like the mustache of almighty Zeus himself!)
Pubic Hair Ball Hair Taint/Gooch Hair High Thigh Hair Shaft Hair
Easiest to shave. Needs to be trimmed down (No new-born baby penis look) Scariest/Most Difficult to shave. This will be a clean shave. Moderate difficulty. Up to shaver, but I prefer a clean shave. Easy to shave. This will be a clean shave. Nicks can happen here easily. This will be a clean shave.
Tools Needed: Shaving cream (MUST - Practice before which shaving cream works best! Sometimes Conditioner can work better),
electric razor (The side that pops out I will refer to as buzzer and the side with the guard I will refer to as electric razor from here on out)
A Women’s! shaving razor (women’s razors have a much higher guard and will protect better than one for men.
 
*PLEASE BE PREPARED!* I mean it’s your balls we’re talking about here…
 
Step 1: The first step will be to shave the pubic hair. Depending on how much hair is down there, you have the option to go at it with scissors like a harbor before throwing the buzzer down there. If you have an average amount (2”>x) then go at it with the buzzer. Hover your family jewels over the toilet, you may even choose to sit like a cool substitute teacher. Brush the square side of the buzzer backwards across your pubes vertically. It may seem as if it isn’t doing anything but trust me you’re losing hair faster than LeBraun James. Continue this until you deem it short enough, I like my pubes around 1/2”.
Note Make sure the pubes length is even throughout, focusing on areas that with longer hair to insure optimum symmetry, bitches love symmetry. Use a mirror!
 
Step 2: Now you’ll want to ‘square’ out your hair and completely shave off any outliers around your pubes. Perhaps you have a leaky happy trail? Or maybe your pubes are ‘fading’ in. Either way you’ll want this instead of this (not penis don’t fret) Use a mirror to make sure it’s not lopsided.
 
Step 3: Here we are going to tackle that upper thigh hair that encompasses the whole male crotch area. Now get all nakey if you aren’t already and hop in that shower. Make sure the water is warm because you’re going to be in there for a while. Whip out you’re shaving cream of choice, I use this because it makes the blade glide across my nuts (phrase of the day!). To be fair I am more metrosexual than most gay men. Anyway(!) lather that shaving cream on to you’re upper thigh, above the pubes and right around the taint (make sure the water isn’t washing it all away) and start shaving those areas. The shaving razor will insure that these areas are hair-free.
Note Make sure the blade follows the surface of the skin. You want max blade to skin contact.
 
Step 4: Here’s my favorite part. Shaving the shaft. Why is it my favorite? It adds an inch to your perceived dick length (now your dick will look like it’s an inch longrekt. Extend your dick by pulling out your head. It will give a similar surface on the base of the dick to an erect penis. Now with the shaving cream and razor, shave the front part of the base, while always making sure the base is flat. Then do each side, trying your best to make the area being shaved flat. A flat area not only allows the razor to get more hair, it also prevents little nicks that can occur. I’ll refer back to Davidfor how far down the base you should shave.
Note If you look at the pic of David, you’ll notice he shaved the area to the right and left of his penis. That is totally you’re call, I have no opinion I find both to by stylish in their own penis way.
 
Step 5: The balls. AKA Holyshitiamsoscarediamgoingtochopmynutsoff. You may be tempted to skip this part, but trust me, hairy balls do not look good when the rest has been shaved. If you start this, you must to finish it. You are the chosen one. You are supposed to bring balance to your pubes, not leave them in darkness! Do it for the (potential) children.
Back to the balls. We’re going to first start with the outside balls. To do this get in your best captain stance which creates a nice U shape between your thigh and outer left/right ball. This is the kind of U Brett Farve has been talking about. Now, using that handy shaving cream and razor, this should be quite easy. Gently go up that are and always going along the grain. Don’t switch up directions here, that’s too ballsy.
After that’s done we’re going to drift away from the pubes for just a bit. Throw some shaving cream on the taint (this is the area that prevents you from shitting on your balls) and you’ll want to shave from your asshole to the base of your balls. Always going in that direction. IMPORTANT If you touch your taint (ew you’re gross) you’ll notice there is a line. Kind of feels like hair running from your asshole to your balls. It’s actually a vein that controls your orgasms. DO NOT SHAVE ON THIS VEIN Shave to the left and right of it. Don’t go directly on it. I don’t think anything will happen if you do… but better safe than orgasmless.
 
Step 6: Back to the balls and the last part of the shaving in the shower. This part is difficult and to be honest I’m not sure of the best way to approach this. Balls are weird and that they have no fucking shape and 2 million wrinkles. I like to first take my electric razor and use the buzzer part of it. Then I just air swipe my balls getting all the hair about 1/4” short. Then I take the shaving cream and focus on specific parts squeezing my balls to get maximum surface area. This seems to work out for me, but keeping it 1/4 of an inch isn’t that big of a deal. Hair that short is difficult to notice and ladies/men will still suck your nuts.
Note Loosen up before shaving your balls. Take deep breaths and relax. Make sure your asshole isn’t clenched because that raises your balls. And if you’re down there shaving with a clenched asshole, and for any reason your asshole unclenches, you’re balls will drop (again) and hell will break loose. It is better to shave them while they are low and have them clench upwards.
 
Step 7: Clean up all the pubes off of your body. This is no simple task. Water is an adhesive so you’ll have to detach the shower head and put that all up in your business. I like to turn on the bath and use that heavy rush of water to cleanse my body of those clingy cutoff pubes. Hop out the shower, dry off and look at your masterpiece Michelangelo. But you are not done yet!
 
Step 8: Similar to barbers, you will have missed a few hair and you’ll probably have a few 2 inch hairs amongst you’re gently coiffed pubes. Grab a pair of nail scissors or whatever tool you prefer and chop those suckers off. The majority will be on your balls. A fun thing I like to do that is totally fucking weird, is pulling long pubes on my balls and plucking them off. It is surprisingly easy to do so because of the loose ball skin. Don’t yank it out like a band-aid though or you’ll need a band-aid (Ha Ha.. I’m not funny)
 
Voila, you’re done. Get some aftershave on those freshly shaven balls to disinfect your nicks and make those meaty knockers smell like a man. Congratulations and I hope I was of some help!
 
Edit 1: Let't talk about asshole hair, (what a great conversation startfuriouslyjotsdown) that area can be shaved and it can look/feel good! But personally, I like to keep my Brown Eye of Sauron to myself. No traveller has dared venture down so I feel no need to shave.
Edit 2: One of my ball shaving colleagues has alerted me that the 'taint vein' is actually, "[A] scar, from where the skin fuses before birth and is called the perineal raphe." (Google it for some nice visuals)

Okay… so, I have 3 LIFX bulbs in my ceiling fixture that I recently successfully changed. Have had no issues, great connection and no Siri problems. I decided to get 2 individual 2 button switches from LIFX to replace my old flick switch. I have an orange, yellow, white, and red wire coming from the box— to which the LIFX switches both have green, black, red, white. wired it all up— and the LIFX switch has an orange glow (constantly on, won’t fade away). The indicator light only seemed to steady flash when A) I first power on the breaker, and/or B) I press a button on the LIFX switch. PROBLEM is when I press either the top or bottom button on the switch, it vibrates so rapidly and the light flickers super fast. I run downstairs to immediately cut the power to the room. I’m not sure if the wiring is incorrect, or if there’s just an issue with using LIFX bulbs with a LIFX switch. Idk what to think. I’ve been working on it for several hours now. I guess if you guys need pics or vids to better understand, pls reply. I’m in bed with pity written on my face.

the first pic is Arctic Fox's Electric Paradise, the second pic is Manic Panic's Cotton Candy Pink (I'm pretty sure, it's been a while)
I've dyed my hair a few times and have almost exclusively used Manic Panic. I've always loved the results, even if they faded quickly. I just saw that as opportunity to change it up frequently.
the first time I went pink, I used Manic Panic, and was obsessed with the result. but when I wanted to go pink again, I couldn't find Manic Panic, and reluctantly picked AF's Electric Paradise. I was worried it would have more of an orange tint to it, but it turned out amazing with the bubblegum pink shade I was looking for.
I cannot tell you how many compliments I have gotten in the two days I've had this AF shade. the next time I dye my hair pink again, I'm definitely going with this shade. and I'm also really excited to see how long this color lasts. I've heard AF lasts longer than MP.
my hair is a little dryer than it was when I used MP, but I'm not holding out that it will be that way every time I use AF, because bleaching my hair this time didn't go as smoothly as last time.
all in all, impressed with AF, excited to try more of their shades in the future! and super happy that I took a leap of faith with this shade! I had a lot of options to choose from, but this one is perfect 🥰

About a year ago I upgraded one of my older printers from PLA to PET-G. I also upgraded the firmware to ADVi3++. I ran the full compliment of calibration prints included with SuperSlicer and got fairly satisfactory prints. A little sloppy but okay for my needs at the time. It's been printing well since then.
Recently, I ran the calibration prints again trying to get the precision honed in a little more. They all ran fine except retraction. I get the following error message:
Flow::mm3_per_mm() produced negative flow. Did you set some extrusion width too small?
I imported the config from a year ago and the test print will load and slice just fine with that config. I exported both configs to Excel and filtered on all changes. The attached pic is everything that was changed. (Print temp setting of 200 isn't right. Current temp setting is about 225 for PETG) I have spent at least 2-3 hours trying to troubleshoot this with no luck. I'm completely stumped.

Day of surgery - full top implants
I’m having the full implant procedure done vs all on 4. Here is a before pic that shows some, but very little, of my issues. And a pic of my current placements that’ll be there until they put in my temp teeth. Those will be replaced after about 4-6 months.
I had full Iv sedation. I woke up at the end of the process will very little pain or pressure.
I took a pain killer earlier today but am still feeling pretty well. Nothing like the tooth pain I’ve been used to for so many years.
Very little swelling or discomfort and almost no bleeding, maybe it’ll get worse tomorrow. We’ll see. I hope not. I’ve been on antibiotics for three weeks straight leading up to this.
I had to update this post to fix some typos
If you’re interested in my process let me know and I’ll share as I go.
I’m doing this for anyone interested in learning about the day to day of it. I was terrified. So far, I’ve had more discomfort from a sprain.
First is a before pic of course, second is right now in between the surgery and getting the temp implants placed tomorrow.
If you’re interested in my progress and experienced, please let me know below.
It took me decades to decide to do this, I’d be happy to help anyone who wants to understand the truth of what it’s like

Welp this mf colored down as I was setting up to take pics but best male from my colony that I kept, while I thin out all the males except him and two other, bc I want to see more offsprings from him. Hard to get pics of him in the tank when he’s active bc all the other tank mates gets in the way so best I can do for now. When active his black bar that’s faded takes up a portion of his chest and it contrasts the green pigment closer to his face before it transition to the orange/red body pigment. Old traits from its cobra guppy and tiger endler ancestor hence why it has Zebrinus patterns at the base of the peduncle.

i TA for a biology lab in which students are attempting to isolate and identify algae from moss samples. Some plates grew these weird clear colonies, and when the prof. and I looked under the scope, we couldn't figure out what we were seeing.
First pic: 3NBBM plate, incubated at room temp under grow light for a couple weeks. Green colonies are algael, but the clear ones are a mystery.
Second pic: 40X objective phase scope w/ methylene blue stain. It appears to be lifeless goo, but the shape of the colonies makes me think there's something alive.
Third pic: 100X objective (w oil) and methylene blue stain. I apologize for the photo quality, but if you look closely you can see dark shapes that almost look like diplococci.
What is it? Googling did not help me in the slightest.

2024.05.21 00:53 osiful What do I do with my edges when I braid my hair?

I was dumb and got temp fades last year when doing my trims and line ups and my edges and the sides of my are like hair in front of my ears are about 3/4 to half as long as the rest of my hair. I it’s also kinda the case for the very bottom of back of my head, but it’s not as big of a deal.
I’m getting cornrows by the end of summer, but I want to keep my sides so they can grow more. what can be done?
