[Question] How to control servo motor.

2024.05.21 13:24 papvlnzla [Question] How to control servo motor.

Hello, is there a way to control a servo motor with a True/False statement like when its true the servo is set at 90° if false then at 0°. Using it on a object detection code. Also I'm using the gpiozero library. TYIA to whoever answers.
Here is the code:
import cv2 from gpiozero import AngularServo from time import sleep
classNames = [] classFile = “names" with open(classFile,"rt") as f: classNames = f.read().rstrip("\n").split("\n")
configPath = ".pbtxt" weightsPath = ".pb"
net = cv2.dnn_DetectionModel(weightsPath,configPath) net.setInputSize(320,320) net.setInputScale(1.0/ 127.5) net.setInputMean((127.5, 127.5, 127.5)) net.setInputSwapRB(True)
def getObjects(img, thres, nms, draw=True, objects=[]): classIds, confs, bbox = net.detect(img,confThreshold=thres,nmsThreshold=nms) #print(classIds,bbox) if len(objects) == 0: objects = classNames objectInfo =[] if len(classIds) != 0: for classId, confidence,box in zip(classIds.flatten(),confs.flatten(),bbox): className = classNames[classId - 1] if className in objects: objectInfo.append([box,className]) if (draw): cv2.rectangle(img,box,color=(0,255,0),thickness=2) cv2.putText(img,classNames[classId-1].upper(),(box[0]+10,box[1]+30), cv2.FONT_HERSHEY_COMPLEX,1,(0,255,0),2) cv2.putText(img,str(round(confidence*100,2)),(box[0]+200,box[1]+30), cv2.FONT_HERSHEY_COMPLEX,1,(0,255,0),2)
return img,objectInfo

2024.05.20 22:27 ScarHydreigon87 How to play Pardofelis in D&D

Today we’re building Pardofelis, 13th of the 13 Flame Chasers. This is part 11 of building the 13 Flame Chasers in D&D.
Let’s start off with our goals for this build. Pardofelis’s Signets revolve around gathering as much money as possible to gain buffs. Since that’s not a thing in D&D, we’ll instead focus on being acrobatic and agile as you do favor a fast, hit-and-run fighting style, as well as being able to swindle, shark, and steal anything. We also sadly won't be able to summon a giant Can to squash our enemies with.
For stats, we’ll be using Point Buy. Roll for stats if you want, just keep your Dexterity and Charisma high for multiclassing.
15 Dexterity, as you are very agile and acrobatic.
15 Charisma, as you are a swindling salesperson
13 Constitution, as you still need to be tough
12 Wisdom, as you do have keen senses
8 Strength, as you're pretty thin
And 8 Intelligence, as while you are crafty, you’re still pretty dumb.
For race, Catgirl definitely means Tabaxi. You get +2 to one stat and +1 to another, or +1 to three stats. We’ll go for +1 to three stats to round out our Dexterity, Charisma, and Constitution. You get a climbing speed equal to your walking speed, Cat’s Talent for Proficiency in Stealth and Perception, 60 feet of Darkvision, your unarmed strikes deal 1d6+plus your Strength modifier in slashing damage (although if I were the DM, I’d have them use Dexterity), and Feline Agility, letting you move double your movement speed for a turn. Afterwards, you can’t use it again unless you spend a turn not moving. Take the Charlatan Background for Sleight of Hand and Deception as you are a professional swindler.
We’ll actually kick things off as a Bard for better saving throws, and for later in the build. 1st Level Bards can pick any 3 Skills they like. Acrobatics, Persuasion, and Animal Handling would be my picks. You get Bardic Inspiration, letting you use a bonus action to give an ally a d6 they can use to add to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw within the next 10 minutes, an amount of times per long rest equal to your Charisma modifier. For your cantrips, take Vicious Mockery and Friends. For your spells, take Silvery Barbs, Cure Wounds, Speak with Animals, and Identify.
2nd Level Bards get Jack of All Trades, letting you add half your proficiency bonus to any ability check you aren’t proficient with, which include initiative rolls. You also get Song of Rest, letting your soldiers add an extra d6 whenever they spend hit dice to restore HP during a short rest to keep them up in the field. You also get the option of Magical Inspiration, letting an ally who has a Bardic Inspiration die use it to add to the damage or healing of a spell. Speaking of, you can also learn 1 extra spell, and Charm Person forces a Wisdom save on a humanoid within 30 feet, and on a failure they’re charmed by you for an hour as long as you don’t do anything harmful to them.
3rd Level Bards can pick a Bard College, and College of Swords is perfect for an acrobatic sword fighter. You get proficiency in Medium Armor, which doesn’t matter, but more importantly, you get proficiency in Scimitars, which best mirror your weapons. You can also choose a Fighting Style, and since you wield two blades, we’ll go with Two Weapon Fighting, letting you add your Dexterity modifier to your offhand attacks. Swords Bards get Blade Flourishes, letting you use a Bardic Inspiration die when you make an attack to add extra damage equal to the result, and giving you 10 extra feet of movement for a turn, on top of 3 different effects. Defensive Flourish give a bonus to your AC equal to your Bardic Inspiration for a turn, Slashing Flourish deals damage equal to another target within 5 feet of the first equal to the result, and Mobile Flourish lets you push the target 5 feet plus the result rolled away from you, and then you can use your reaction to move within 5 feet to the target. However, Defensive Flourish is what matters the most here, so just focus on that.
3rd Level Bards can also learn 2nd Level Spells. Take the spell Animal Messenger to have Can deliver messages for you. Lastly, 3rd Level Bards get Expertise in 2 skills. Go for Sleight of Hand and Deception.
4th Level Bards get an Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Dexterity for better AC and damage. For your spell at this level, take Feather Fall as Cats always land on their feet.
5th Level Bards get Font of Inspiration, meaning your Bardic Inspiration now recharges on a short rest as well, and it also upgrades from a d6 to a d8. You can also learn 3rd Level Spells. Take the spell Leomund’s Tiny Hut to set up shop.
6th Level Swords Bards get an Extra Attack, letting you attack twice in 1 round. For your spell at this level, take the spell Locate Object to help find treasure.
Lastly, 6th Level Bards get Countercharm, letting you use your action to give you and your allies advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened, but this feature is honestly pretty bad.
We’ll now multiclass into Rogue. Multiclassing into Rogue gives you 1 Skill from the Rogue list. Go for Investigation. You also get Expertise in 2 more Skills. Go for Acrobatics and Stealth.
You also learn Thieves Cant, letting you speak in secret code words, and Sneak Attack, giving you an extra d6 to add to a weapon attack once per turn if you either have advantage on the attack roll or have an ally within 5 feet of you.
2nd Level Rogues get Cunning Action, letting you Dash, Disengage, or Hide as a Bonus Action.
3rd Level Rogues get to pick a Roguish Archetype, and Swashbuckler is excellent for someone slippery with both the blade and tongue. You get Fancy Footwork, meaning when you hit a creature with a melee attack, that creature can’t make opportunity attacks against you that turn. You also get Rakish Audacity, letting you add your Charisma Modifier to your initiative rolls, and letting you use your Sneak Attack against a creature without needing advantage or another ally as long as you, the creature, and no other creatures are within 5 feet of you. 3rd Level Rogues also get Steady Aim, letting you use a bonus action to gain advantage on your next ranged attack roll as long as you don’t move or haven’t moved that turn. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 2d6.
4th Level Rogues get an Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Dexterity for the best AC and damage.
5th Level Rogues get Uncanny Dodge, letting you use your reaction to halve the damage you take from an attack against you. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 3d6.
6th Level Rogues get Expertise in 2 more skills. Go for Perception and Persuasion.
7th Level Rogues get Evasion, meaning when you make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid damage, you take no damage on a success, and only half on a failure. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 4d6.
8th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Charisma for more Bardic Inspiration and better spell save DC.
9th Level Swashbucklers get Panache, letting you use your action to make a Persuasion check contested by an opponent’s Insight check. If you succeed on the check and the creature is hostile to you, it has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you and can't make opportunity attacks against targets other than you. This effect lasts for 1 minute, until one of your companions attacks the target or affects it with a spell, or until you and the target are more than 60 feet apart. If you succeed on the check and the creature isn't hostile to you, it is charmed by you for 1 minute. While charmed, it regards you as a friendly acquaintance. This effect ends immediately if you or your companions do anything harmful to it. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 5d6.
10th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Charisma for the most Bardic Inspiration and better spell save DC.
11th Level Rogues get Reliable Talent, meaning you cannot roll lower than a 10 on any skill you're proficient with. Your Sneak Attack increases one more time to 6d6.
12th Level Rogues get our last Ability Score Improvement or a Feat. We’ll take the Magic Initiate Feat, grabbing 2 Cantrips and a Spell from the Sorcerer list. Take the Cantrips Ray of Frost and Shape Water, and for your spell, take Shield. This’ll give you a bit of ice power since you are an Ice-type Battlesuit.
We’ll finish off the build with 2 Levels in Fighter. 1st Level Fighters can pick a Fighting Style, and Defense will add +1 to your AC while wearing armor. You also get Second Wind, letting you heal 1d10+your Fighter level as a bonus action once per short or long rest to stay up in the fight.
Our Capstone is the 2nd Level of Fighter for Action Surge, letting you take an additional action once per rest.
Now that we’ve hit Level 20, let’s go over the Strengths of this build. First, you are very agile and slippery with 18 AC, Defensive Flourish, Evasion, Uncanny Dodge, Feline Agility, and Expertise in Acrobatics making you tricky to pin down. Speaking of Expertise, you have Expertise in 6 Skills and Reliable Talent, letting you always be able to jump, swindle, and sneak your way out of almost anything. You also deal solid damage with Sneak Attack and your Flourishes plus Ray of Frost for range, and thanks to Rakish Audacity and Jack of All Trades, you have a +13 to Initiative rolls, meaning you’re more likely to be first in the fray. Lastly, you have good supportive utility thanks to Bardic Inspiration.
For weaknesses, your HP is below-average for a melee fighter, sitting at around 145, so while you have many options to help reduce damage, you still aren’t as durable as someone like Kalpas. You’re also Vulnerable to Strength and Intelligence saving throws, meaning you can easily be thrown around and brainwashed. Lastly, you have multiple instances where you need to be standing still, such as using Steady Aim or recharging your Feline Agility, which can leave you open.

Cartier Tankmust (medium) WSTA0041, comprehensive comparison of Gen, AF and K11
Hi everyone, I am Steve, recently some friends feedback that our comparison posts on Reddit are no longer visible.((Because they were filtered). in order to make it easier for you to view them at any time, so I will continue to re-post all of our comparison posts once . When you need to check them out, just go to my homepage and look for them.
Dial front view
View of the dial in natural light
Under lighting View
In fact, in terms of appearance alone, both factories have done such an excellent job that they have reached the point where it is hard to tell the real thing from the fake.
At least when I compared the three watches side-by-side with their straps removed (I mixed up the three watches), I couldn't quickly tell which one was the GEN by the colour of the dial and the overall appearance, and that was my honest opinion. So which factory do you think is better?
Side view of the Crystal
The crystal edges of the GEN are chamfered, the horizontal side is very well finished by both factories, very close to the GEN, but the vertical side is a little different.
https://preview.redd.it/xv6inbi2mj1d1.jpg?width=6000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6a1a37be5fea0f9ce1a7ccd91782693e81baf65
View of dail font stick
In fact, there is no difference between the two factories when you simply look at them with the naked eye, and it is easy to see from the macro photos in high definition that the K11's scales are not full enough, and there is hardly any sense of dimensionality.
In addition, the overall neatness and the placement of the strokes are relatively better in AF.
View of minute scale
In the printing process of the scale of the few minutes, AF is also better. The edge of the scale line of K11 is not regular, and the spill over is more worse.
On the thicker minute scales such as 5 and 10, the K11 has an obvious stroke, the white lines are visible in the picture, and I think K11 has done this to compensate for the lack of dimensionality in the scale
View of dial oil font
The oil font on the dial is still better done by AF, although it is less full than GEN, but at least it has a certain sense of dimensionality, while K11 has none at all, and the colour of the letters is uneven, but it is not obvious to the naked eye.
View of hands
The colour of the hands of both factories is very close to that of the GEN, but it is not always the same, as there is a colour difference.
The blue colour of both factories is brighter than that of the GEN when viewed from a down light perspective.
View of hands central
It is easy to see from the pictures that the centre of the K11 is not the same height as the GEN, which is slightly higher than the minute hand, while the K11 sinks very significantly, although the AF is in line with the GEN.
In addition to this, I also noticed a problem with the K11 by comparing it side by side, the rounded part of the hand is also slightly smaller compared to the GEN.
As for the AF, it's also not that perfect, the hands seem slightly thicker when viewed from the side, and that's just from the similarity aspect, actually, a thicker pointer is not a bad thing, what do you think?
Side view of the crown
There is no significant difference in the shape of the crown between the two factories compared to the GEN
But the main difference is the brightness of the blue spinel, which is lacking in both factories, Comparatively speaking, the AF is brighter than the K11.
Side view of the case
As for the shape of the sides of the case, both factories are very good, and as for the nuances of the case diameters, you can see the comparative view of the data at the end of this article.
We can also see the screw holes on the side of the K11, which are a little smaller. The AF is the same as the GEN, and the screw slots are very flat and clean.
View of back case
In the first picture we can notice that the width of the beveled edge of the rear bottom cover of the K11 is noticeably narrower, the AF is slightly wider but at least it is within acceptable limits
In terms of the depth of the engraving, there is not much difference between the two factories.
Detail of the strap
The genuine product has a calfskin leather strap (with quick release), which doesn't feel particularly good in the hand.
Just to clarify, as we purchased a second-hand GEN, we are not sure if the strap is original. Both the AF and the K11 have synchronised GEN straps, but the AF strap is a little thicker than the K11.
View of the movement
The great thing about quartz models is that there is no worry about errors and there are virtually no after sales problems. So if it's a gift for your wife or a girlfriend, the quartz feminine model is definitely the first choice.
The AF and the K11 are both Swiss quartz movements, with different models, but there is no real difference, as they are both electronic anyway.
Although the movement is not visible in the case of the solid case back model, the K11 is to be commended for its internal slotted construction
Which was made in parallel with the GEN, this is a very careful approach, while AF has omitted the reproduction of the internal structure, but this does not affect the overall similarity.
Data comparison chart
Well, today's post is here, thank you guys for watching. If there are any mistakes, please correct me. If there is anything else I overlooked, you can put it up, and I will try my best to complete it. Welcome to comment and exchange!
I will continue to bring you more detailed comparisons between replica watches and GEN’s. And it is also for you to choose the favorite models conveniently.
Illustration: Some photos deviate from the real object due to the light source. For details, please refer to the content. The size of the comparison picture is relatively large, you can download it and enlarge it for comparison.
Thanks.
There is no perfect replica, only the one you prefer.
Steve.

2024.05.20 08:55 moon_botz Previous owner or my house is in trouble but never changed his address, police have been here looking for him for one thing, penalty notices and demands for payment also come in post. Should I be worried?

The man we bought our house from last year doesn’t seem to have bothered notifying anyone of his change of address. At the start we would drop his letters off at the estate agent, on their advice, and they would let him know to collect them. The post itself isn’t an issue, we now just put ‘no longer at this address’ and post back in post box, but for some of it it’s clear from the envelope that it’s something important. One letter had in bright red font ‘important information about your car safety’, there have been a couple of London congestion zone / ULEZ fines, and a ‘do not ignore this letter’. Note, all visible without opening the letter, which we obviously wouldn’t do.
The police came once looking for him too, they seemed to think he still lived here. I was at work and spoke with them through my ring doorbell. There were 4 plain clothes officers with vests, 2 of them went round the back while 2 rang the doorbell. I’m assuming this is separate to the matters in the letters, not sure the police care about fines, but the point is law enforcement also believed he still lived here.
We bought the house, have all the paperwork etc. and have zero links to this guy other than that. I’m not really worried about the police, they haven’t been back and if they do a bit of research they’ll work out we’re nothing to do with him. I’m worried about bailiffs showing up when he doesn’t pay the fines, what would I do - I know not to let them in but what if they barge in? Is there anything we can do to avoid this altogether, someone we can contact? Or am I massively overreacting to a non issue here? Thank you in advance for your advice!
Edit to say this is in England.

Apple AirPod max legit check
Hello,
I’m back for round two with a different pair of AirPod max’s. This pair appears to have been bought in Southeast Asia based on the box, so not sure if fonts will be different etc. I feel like a dead giveaway is the fact the serial number inside the earcup is different than the one on the box, but wanted to double check

so im trying to make a calculator, i have to make it take both integers and floats so i had to make it allow both by making a simple conversion system between them, the problem is its not returning them in full but rounded up most of the time and weird thing are happening
import tkinter as tk from tkinter import \* root = Tk() root.geometry("100x100") root.title("Calculator") ''' output = Tk() output.geometry("100x100") output.title("output") ''' def calculate0(): no1 = slot\_1.get() no2 = slot\_2.get() no3 = slot\_3.get() try: no11 = float(no1) if '.' in no1 else int(no1) no31 = float(no1) if '.' in no3 else int(no3) result = no11 + no31 print(f'answer is {result}') except ValueError: print('syntax error') #slot1 slot\_1 = tk.Entry(root, font=("Arial", 12), width=4) slot\_1.pack() #slot2 slot\_2 = tk.Entry(root, font=("Arial", 12), width=4) slot\_2.pack() #slot3 slot\_3 = tk.Entry(root, font=("Arial", 12), width=4) slot\_3.pack() #button calculate = tk.Button(root, font=("Arial", 12), text="Calculate", command=calculate0) calculate.pack() root.mainloop()
now lets say i put 1 in slot 1 and 1.1 in slot 3
expected would be 2.1
but what i am getting is 2.0
and many similar things like this are happening.
please help me with this issue

2024.05.19 19:13 Glitter2007 🦋 Britney - Elimination Game (DAY 12) 🦋

🦋 Britney - Elimination Game (DAY 12) 🦋
« Cinderella » is out
🦋This is it… « Cinderella » had to go and she went, but most certainly not to become Queen of the ball since she lost her crystal shoe just like she lost her spot in the competition, with 72 votes
🦋 And here are the stats to celebrate her 3 evil sisters making it into the final 3 x)
  • In a shocking turn of events, the second most voted song this round was « Overprotected » with 39 votes
  • Followed closely by one of Britney’s best deep cuts « Lonely » with 36 votes, and by the way I should point out that it’s the first non-single to ever make it this far in the competition !!!
  • And the iconic « I’m A Slave 4 U » found itself pretty comfortable this round with just 8 votes (phew)
🦋 REMINDER OF THE RULES 🦋
Every day we will eliminate a song from each of Britney’s respective albums and and we’re continuing this game with the self titled Britney album from 2001 (I’m not necessarily doing them in chronological order btw)
You will have to comment the song you feel deserves to be eliminated the most and afterwards I will determine which song had the most votes and therefore it will get the boot (I will be counting upvotes mostly so please comment the song once and if you notice that it’s already been done, then upvote it instead of commenting it again)
🦋 Just To clear up a few things 🦋
Please do not mention multiple songs in 1 comment otherwise I just can’t count the vote you casted since you can only pick 1 song for elimination each day, that’s it !!
Also, I am counting the upvotes to the comments, so a comment that gets massively downvoted won’t be omitted for that matter, neither will it remove the votes that were already placed for that specific song, for example if I vote out I Will Be There and I get 5 upvotes (thereby 5 votes) to my comment but then another person comments the same thing but gets 3 downvotes, that won’t affect the score at all and won’t reduce it to 2 votes (idk if I’m being clear lmao)
VERY IMPORTANT : Downvotes are strictly forbidden, I am sick of people downvoting the choices of others with the sole reason of them not agreeing (I am saying this as someone who has been insanely downvoted at times for simply placing my vote), the purpose of this game is not to ruin your karma, but to have fun and determine what’s the ranking of each album in the eyes of Britney’s fans
Once Again, I made all the covers for the songs that weren’t singles, so I hope you guys will appreciate them as much as the past ones, although I feel a bit less satisfied of the way they came out compared to last time (I still love them though!), and they are also using the fonts of the album cover as well as the existing single covers (notably those of Boys, I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll and Overprotected)

2024.05.19 11:22 Sh_TRoman Discover the Ultimate CSS Guide on Our Website!

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets, is a fundamental technology used in web development to control the presentation and layout of HTML documents. While HTML provides the structure of a webpage, CSS enhances its appearance by defining how HTML elements should be displayed on the screen, in print, or even as speech.
In order to understand the basic of CSS, we need to understand how it works. CSS works by selecting HTML elements using id, classess attributes or tags itself and applying styling rules to them. These rules dictate attributes such as color, size, font, spacing, and positioning. By separating content from presentation, CSS allows developers to create visually appealing and consistent designs across multiple web pages with ease.
CSS operates on a cascade principle, where multiple style rules can be applied to the same element, with specificity and order determining which rule takes precedence. This enables developers to efficiently manage styles across complex projects. CSS is one of the foundation in order to enhance the web development skills.
Over the years, CSS has evolved significantly, with new features and capabilities continually being added. CSS preprocessors like Sass and LESS have extended CSS’s functionality by introducing variables, mixins, and other programming constructs, making stylesheets more maintainable and scalable.
Furthermore, with the rise of responsive web design, CSS plays a crucial role in creating layouts that adapt to different screen sizes and devices, providing users with an optimal viewing experience across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
Understanding of Cascading Style Sheet (CSS)
  1. Selection of HTML Elements: CSS employs various selectors to target specific HTML elements or groups of elements. Selectors can be based on element type (e.g., for paragraphs), class (e.g., .header), ID (e.g., #main-content), or other attributes like data attributes or pseudo-classes (e.g., :hover for styling when the mouse is over an element). This flexibility allows developers to precisely target elements for styling.
  2. Application of Styling Rules: Once an element is selected, CSS applies styling rules to it. These rules define how the element should appear and behave. CSS properties cover a wide range of design aspects, including:Color: Specifies the foreground and background colors.Size: Controls the dimensions of the element, such as width, height, padding, and margins.Font: Determines the typeface, size, style (e.g., bold, italic), and other text properties.Spacing: Manages the spacing between elements, including margins, padding, and borders.Positioning: Controls the placement of elements on the webpage, including static, relative, absolute, and fixed positioning.
  3. Separation of Content and Presentation: One of the core principles of CSS is separating content from presentation. HTML defines the structure and content of a webpage, while CSS handles the presentation and layout. This separation allows developers to make changes to the design without altering the underlying content, making it easier to maintain and update websites.
  4. Creating Visually Appealing Designs: CSS enables developers to unleash their creativity and design visually stunning websites. With CSS, developers can customize every aspect of the webpage’s appearance, from colors and typography to layout and animations. This flexibility empowers developers to create unique and engaging user experiences tailored to their audience.
  5. Consistency Across Multiple Pages: By applying CSS rules consistently across multiple web pages, developers can ensure a cohesive and unified design language throughout the website. CSS allows developers to define styles once and apply them universally, saving time and effort while maintaining consistency across the site.
Properties of CSS
CSS properties are the building blocks that developers use to style HTML elements. These properties allow developers to control various aspects of an element’s appearance, layout, and behavior. Here are some commonly used CSS properties grouped by their functionalities:
  1. Typography: This properties is used to control the various aspects of the text elements of HTML.font-family: Sets the font of the text.font-size: Sets the size of the text.font-weight: Specifies the thickness of the font.font-style: Defines the style of the font (e.g., italic).text-align: Aligns the text horizontally within its container.line-height: Sets the height of each line of text.
  2. Color and Background: This properties is used to control the color of any HTML elements like < div >, < span >, < header > etc.color: Defines the color of the text.background-color: Sets the background color of an element.opacity: Specifies the transparency of an element.background-image: Sets an image as the background of an element.background-size: Defines the size of the background image.background-position: Specifies the starting position of the background image.
  3. Layout: This properties is used to control the how the HTML elements will functions. For example, its display properties or height, or position etc.display: Defines how an element is displayed (e.g., block, inline, flex).width and height: Sets the width and height of an element.margin, padding, and border: Controls the spacing around and within an element.float: Positions an element to the left or right within its container.position: Specifies the positioning method of an element (e.g., static, relative, absolute, fixed).top, bottom, left, right: Sets the position of an element relative to its containing element.
  4. Box Model: The box model is used to set the HTML elements in box like element by defining its height and width.box-sizing: Defines how the total width and height of an element are calculated.border-radius: Rounds the corners of an element’s border.box-shadow: Adds a shadow effect to an element.overflow: Specifies how content that overflows the element’s box is handled.
  5. animation: Defines keyframe animations.transition: Specifies the transition effect for a CSS property.transform: Applies transformations (e.g., rotate, scale) to elements.
In summary, CSS is an indispensable tool for web developers, empowering them to transform HTML documents into visually appealing and functional web experiences. Understanding its principles and techniques is essential for anyone looking to create modern, professional-looking websites.

HBO Max's 'Batman': Or, how to adapt the insane scope of DC Comics' Batman mythos by way of a big-budget, live-action series (Part 1, the Pitch)
Hope lies in the night
Hey, there!
Been a while since I've taken a crack at this. Had one heck of a busy spring, ready to enjoy the summer and get back to writing these fun pitches.
A couple years back, I pitched the ideal setting for a modern adaptation of DC Comics. A live-action shared universe on HBO Max, telling definitive stories of DC's flagship heroes with an emphasis on specific genres.
Essentially, imagine if the CWverse and other live-action TV series were to be hypothetically replaced by one unified vision, which broadcasted on one network. In this case, HBO Max.
(Which probably means imagining Max launched a few years earlier, somewhere around 2016 or 2017)
Having dived into two of DC's iconic Trinity (Superman and Wonder Woman), it's time to round them out with the Dark Knight himself.
Batman's one heck of a juggernaut isn't he? I can't think of a medium that hasn't covered this hero. There's some definite standouts for sure, like the beloved animated series of the 90s and the masterpiece that was Christopher Nolan's trilogy.
And yet, so much of what we've gotten in live-action has just barely scratched the surface.
That's where this idea comes in. Taking the story of Batman, and adapting its sheer volume and scope on a platform big enough to cover it.
First airing in 2020, in some world other than this one, it's...
BATMAN
An HBO Max original series.
****
Premise
Picture, if you will, a series which picks up well into this hypothetical "Maxverse" I've laid out the past couple of years.
Batman is a superhero family drama spanning several years, from 2014 to 2018 in-universe. It covers a veteran Batman, and his alliance of costumed heroes, as they face several terrifying threats to their home of Gotham City.
Major inspirations for this series include runs by-
  • Frank Miller
  • Jeph Loeb
  • Judd Winick
  • Scott Snyder
  • Tom King
The story of this imagined reboot/adaptation isn't just about Batman and his family, it's about Gotham itself. Its history, the hidden players behind it, and how far its defenders are willing to go in order to protect it. Batman himself is tested many times on his commitment to Gotham, and how deeply he believes it even can be saved.
As with the rest of the stories in the Maxverse, this Batman series is slapped with a TV-MA rating. Given the subject matters often featured in Batman comics, this particular TV-MA would be earned and then some. No sanitizing or watering down to be found here, this show would be dark.
Covered in three seasons, the major arcs are
1: The personal journey of Bruce Wayne as Batman.
2: Batman's several proteges doing their best to live up to his example, while also making their own paths as heroes.
3: A slow uncovering of Gotham City's hidden history.
4: The looming question of what kind of life Bruce Wayne could live, without Batman.
Setting
Much like the Superman series of this universe dives into alternate history regarding its primary locale, so too does Batman.
As Metropolis in this setting was born from what was once New York City, Gotham sprang from what used to be Jersey City. The two cities sit across the bay from each other, sister cities and yet almost complete opposites.
Gotham is a city with one foot in the past, and another in the future. Visual and thematic inspirations for the setting could ideally draw from depictions both old-fashioned and modern. Gothic and futuristic. In many ways, Gotham could be as much a character as the lead cast themselves. Its mythology and mystery hangs heavy over the entire series, and the unraveling of its origins drives a considerable amount of the plot in Season 3.
Other locations of note could include
  • Bludhaven, a smaller city neighboring Gotham
  • 'Eth Alth'eban, lair of the feared League of Assassins
Lead Characters & Performers
Leading off the massive ensemble are the power couple that is Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. AKA Batman and Catwoman.
The actors I'd choose to portray them are well-known in geek circles. Whether they by Star Wars fans, or fans of various horrific works by Mike Flanagan.
Sam Witwer
Kate Siegel
As Batman is a family drama, Bruce and Selina are the resident patriarch and matriarch respectively.
Much like the character as featured in the DCEU, this Bruce Wayne has been in the game for a long time. In this case, twelve years. He's got a lot of scars to show for it, physical and mental, and while the Bat-family or his friends abroad in the Justice League keep him balanced, Bruce is starting to show the wear and tear of his long crusade.
Selina, for her part, is a woman who's long since left her life as a criminal behind. Having come from a marginalized background, she has seen both the best and worst of Gotham and its people. More than fighting criminals, her mission is helping the poor and oppressed of her city and giving them a better life than the one she was born into.
Background Story & Supporting Cast
As the series has a lot of history behind it, one could expect various tie-in materials to expand on said history.
  • A film or limited series adapting Year One.
  • Comics and books on the major players.
I've drafted a document detailing this abundance of lore, feel free to give it a read.
Legends of the Batman
As for the rest of the ensemble cast, I've compiled a list.
For both heroes and villains alike.
(Light spoilers by way of certain inclusions and naming, all will be elaborated on in future posts)
The Bat-Family and Allies
  • (Outside of Nightwing, Oracle, Red Hood and the two present Robins, the rest of the Bat-family joins or is introduced across Seasons 1 and 2)
Enemies of Batman
****
And that's what I got!
Happy to be back writing these posts.
Next weekend, I'm gonna finally pick back up on my revising of the MCU and other Marvel film properties.
Hope you enjoyed this! Let me know your thoughts, and how you'd even start to tackle Batman on television.

2024.05.19 05:39 entropyposting The babyproofing of the internet

Web 3.0 isn't blockchains and NFTs, it's the fact that a taco place in my neighborhood has its own mobile ordering app. I haven't downloaded it, but I walk by the sign sometimes and I can see a little preview of its sans serif font and its flat UI colored white and teal. If I want to go into the restaurant and order a taco, the only limits on my behavior are those I impose on myself out of a desire to be normal and not be a dick. But if I access the taco place's public API through the iOS app (gross, what the fuck), my message is restricted to the specific form the API requires.
The new web is characterized by a client-server model backed by infrastructure giants like AWS and Google Cloud. For the vast majority of internet users, all economic and social activity passes through one of a few platforms, a sort of digital kindergarten where your life is totally owned by whoever built the sandbox. This model brought the disappearance of free-form communication and an increasingly restricted online life circumscribed by the very same tech giants. The simple fact that most of these companies have "trust and safety" divisions implies that they feel a paternalistic responsibility to care for us and protect us on the computer. Like babies. Naturally, much like a real baby, the main things people like to do on the new internet are babble and ask other people to bring them food.
The trend toward flat, colorful minimalist interfaces built on React Native also reflects the move towards a baby-friendly internet. Even the buttons have rounded corners to protect your soft little skull in case you trip and hit your head.
This might be explained by inclusiveness. In the pursuit of maximum growth aka maximum inclusion, maybe we had to make interfaces so simple a toddler could use them. I remember years ago watching my 2-year-old cousin find apps on her mom's iPad with unnerving fluency. But I think the real reason is simpler. Wittingly or unwittingly, this structural mode of the internet creates owners with the authority of parents and users with the agency of children.

2024.05.18 23:14 JustanOverpoweredGod A case for William Afton, Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith being one and the same.

A case for William Afton, Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith being one and the same.

introduction:

So, This is gonna be a bit of a controversial one for a first post. This post is gonna be detailing a bit of proof for Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith being William Afton. It should be noted that I myself am somewhat mixed on whether I believe this or not so I am simply providing arguements without actually attempting to confirm this as some kind of basic factor of the lore.
The identity of Mike Schmidt/Fritz Smith has been mostly agreed upon as Michael Afton in recent years, the point of this post is to show that there is still room for debate regarding this topic.

What we know about the two gaurds:

-Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith are most likely the same person, we know this because of the fact that:
  1. They both get fired for the exact same reasons (Tampering with the Animatronics and odor)
  2. Both of their names are uncommon mixtures of German names. (And while I'm not sure on this one, I have heard that Schmidt and Smith both roughly have the same meaning)
  3. They both have the technician skills to tamper with the Animatronics and allow a Custom Night to occur.
-They are both oddly persistent when it comes to tampering with the Animatronics:
  1. Fritz Smith, who was believed to be some random temp hired off the streets, not only has the technician skills to tamper with the Animatronics (which is suspicious enough in it's own right), He also apparently cares enough to do it as soon as he enters the building but also before the Animatronics start moving about implying that he already has all of this planned out.
  2. Mike Schmidt's case is far more interesting, Good Ol' Mike might wait six nights to tamper with the Animatronics but if he actually is Fritz you can simply argue that he learned from past mistakes but I can take it a step further and make the claim that he actually learned from recent mistakes.
Mike has been trying to tamper with them for a while:
  1. A detail a lot of people seemed to have forgotten about in recent years is the fact that Freddy in FNAF 1 has an adult sized human hand print on his face, there are a couple problems with the older theories regarding this:
1-"It's from when William stuffed Gabriel in the suit": only problem is that this is a refurbished version of the Withered version of the half retrofitted with new tech version of the original Freddy from the original Freddy's, not even Withered Freddy has the mark so why would Classic Freddy have it?
2-"It's from when The Puppet stuffed Gabriel into the suit": this is pretty much just the Puppetstuffed version of the first one it has all the same flaws Plus The Puppet not having Realistic Humanoid hands
3-"It's the Phone Guy's hand": this one suggests that this was the Phone Guy fighting back against Freddy who tried to kill him on Night 4, only problems are that the Phone Guy most definitely is not strong enough to fight back against the Classics and given the fact that they are consistently portrayed to have Superhuman speed (In the movie novel Foxy attacks Bob and drags him to Shreddy Armchair in an instant, the guide books state the Animatronics are fast, Springtrap might be faster than the rest but even he is described as being "race car fast" and can travel through the vents at Superhuman speeds, The Core four in FNAF 1 can move around the building from one room to another at Hyper speed with most people thinking that they are teleporting, Bonnie is depicted as sprinting in the trailer, Foxy is not "the fast one" all of them are quick, Foxy only gained that title because we actually see him sprinting down the hall), The Phone Guy would've had all of his bones shattered into a steel frame before he could react, let alone fight back. Also, his death was either a team effort or GF.
The two I'm going to talk about are the ones people used to brush this aside.
4-"It's just an employee's uncleaned handprint on the suit": Why would this only be on Freddy and GF and not the rest then? Golden Freddy has it too, the very same GF who infamously isn't maintained at all, the arguement that GF shares the handprint because he's a recolor is just wrong, cause his model in UCN still has it+ his detailed Jumpscare also has it.
5-"It's Freddy's hand from when he was trying to rip his head off in that rare poster": Freddy was only grasping his jaw, you can even see Freddy's own handprint on his lower jaw, with the chunkier rounded fingers that don't match the five fingered human hand on his face.
Given the fact that both GF and Freddy have similar Mark's and that "don't touch Freddy" was made a rule, it's pretty safe to assume that somebody's been trying to tamper with them for a while... see where I'm getting at? Mike has been trying to tamper with them for a long time.
So from all of this we can deduce that Mike and Fritz are the same but just who are they really?

Why people think they're Mike and why they're not:

  1. Parallels (something we'll discuss later)
  2. FNAF 4: F4's gameplay is pretty much a reflection of FNAF 1's, With the Night 1 F1 Phone call playing as an Easter egg with Scott later saying that he didn't fill the game with random easter eggs.
However, dreams can be influenced by spirits. (See the dream sequences in FNAF 2 and the movie) and given the fact that Nightmare who we know is real and a manifestation of Afton's evil is there, it seems that that is what's going on. (And it also seems that either Afton is causing it or Nightmare is) And that's what Scott wanted us to infer. The thing causing the dreams is Mike Schmidt.
This is further proved by the fact that the way you get to skip two hours from a night of torment is by stopping Plushtrap, a representation of Springtrap, further proving that he is the one causing this and that he is Schmidt.
  1. SL stuff: SL is pretty much confirmed after FNAF 1 at this point cause at least some version of MoltenMCI is Canon plus other stuff, plus the odor Args have been bunked too.
  2. Mike has Hallucinations of FNAF 1&2: The phantoms in F3 are caused by Springtrap, and people seem to assume that they are based on past trauma, however the problem with that is that parallels aren't 1 to 1s and also in "What we found", Hudson only gets said visions by touching and being infected by Springtrap's Agony especially since they work differently than FNAF 3 ones, And since The Puppet is implied to cause The Phantom Puppet hallucination which directly references the dream sequences influenced by The Puppet in FNAF 2, So if her hallucination is stuff she knows, what's to say Springtrap isn't doing the same?

Why they're William:

  1. The constant persistence and implied sinister nature of Mike and Fritz's tampering would add up if it was William trying to infect them with Agony, understand them, control them or whatever you interpret his motive to be.
  2. Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith are both uncommon names, Fritz Smith even roughly translates to "the maker of Freddy" or "the forger of Freddy" but that point is kind of sketchy.
  3. The Animatronics are more hostile towards Mike Schmidt than they are towards any other person across any crevice of this franchise. Period.
  4. M.S gets the "IT'S ME" treatment and constant reminders of William's misdeeds.
  5. As we've established FNAF 3's phantoms are spurred on by Springtrap and his memory which would mean that he was a FNAF 2 gaurd and Mike Schmidt in FNAF 1.
  6. The FNAF 4 dreams not only parallel FNAF 1's Gameplay, But also have a new addition to the line up, one that wasn't in the real life experiments, Nightmare: the physical manifestation of William's evil, Mike isn't the FNAF 1 gaurd as we've already established which implies that the FNAF 1 gaurd is somehow behind it. Plushtrap, a representation of Springtrap causes the time to speed forward, skipping two hours of torment when defeated, implying that he was the one running the dream. This is further evidenced by the fact that the logbook takes place during FNAF 3 and N. Fredbear is drawn by Mike Afton when referring to recent dreams. (Bonus, less proof and more Headcanon but the odor would make a lot of sense when you remember that Agony smells awful)

The Logbook:

  1. The logbook is an in Universe activity book published by the people behind Fazbear's Fright, there is a fake note from Jeremy to give the kids the sense that the torch is being passed down to them and that they will be night gaurds, as know this isn't real but rather a recreation because it says that Jeremy was a daygaurd for a whole week.
Mike is written on the cover in the same font as the faded text, this is supposed to be an in Universe reference to Mike Schmidt, implying that he is the faded text.
Mike Afton crosses "MIKE" out but doesn't add anything implying that it is also his name but that he doesn't want to admit to it out of shame.
  1. The faded text isn't Cassidy, the "IT'S ME" and "Cassidy" messages appear in the humble text, imply that the altered text is Cassidy. Unlike what a certain video has popularised, Cassidy is NOT the BV. The faded text asks BV related questions but altered text's responses are always vague and barely connected, based on how the conversation is phrased and Cassidy's responses it seems that the faded text thinks altered text is Cassidy but Cassidy is not.
Faded text is a person Mike Afton wants dead as shown by him sketching a tomb stone deliberately around the "My Name" text.
Faded text's "My Name" can be solved in the Foxy grid, which has been solved as "Is Springtrap", "My Name is Springtrap", the same secret message as in Scott's FNAF 3 update post where he cryptically revealed the name and a line ripped straight from TTO too, this is a logical and frankly flawless interpretation of the Foxy grid since Stuff like "Evan" and "Dave" are both explicitly out of context and just don't make sense, not only with the incoherent phrases and the methods to "solve" them.
If all of that isn't enough proof for you then I already know what you're gonna bring up, let's play the parallels game

Parallels:

  1. TSE: William is the Gaurd at what is explicitly the FNAF 1 location as of the "follow me" minigames
  2. The movie: Mike Schmidt is basically his own character but has connections to Mike Afton.
  3. YTB: this is a scrapped story so it's debatable if this CAN be used, but either way, the location he works at is more like Freddy's Zero, FNAF 2 at best, and it's debatable if this guy is even supposed to be Mike Afton and even more debatable if we can even use this for lore.

Conclusion:

So to wrap this up, William has a legitimately good case for being Mike Schmidt and Fritz Smith, still mixed on this though.
