I have a four year-old cat and a six month old kitten. I’ve had the kitten for a little maybe three weeks almost 4 and for the most part they’ve been OK. I introduced them slowly over a period of about a week and a half. There was a little bit of hissing and growling from the older cat, but for the most part, the younger cat would leave her alone when that happened. Today I took my older cat to the vet and brought her back home and the younger cat immediately started attacking her. I have them separated now, but I’m not sure what to do and I’m just feeling very discouraged like all of our work has been ruined. They have separate litter boxes, food, dishes, and water sources. They also have a bunch of separate toys and I have two cat towers and a couple of high perch areas. I also already have a feliway plug-in. Looking for advice..

My family and I rescued an orphaned kitten a year ago and raised him and bottle fed him his whole life. His name is Blu, and he just turned 1. We decided we wanted to get Blu a friend at this point, so we adopted another cat (around 1.5 years old, named Ivy) who was a stray in a cat colony for her whole life before being brought to the shelter and had her stay with me and my brothers in our apartment during college for the last month so she could get used to us before moving back home (and taking her with us) to introduce her to Blu and her official home.
We have been keeping her in my room, separate from Blu, for two days without them seeing each other. We have been swapping food bowls and blankets and toys, and there has been no signs of them not liking one another's scents. Just yesterday we decided to crack the door open and try to feed them where they could see each other. Overall it went well, but Blu kept getting closer to smell her and Ivy raised her paw up in warning so we decided to shut the door before anything bad could happen. Today we did the same thing and it went well, but I think we pushed it more than we should've. We let Ivy out of the room to explore the rest of the house and didn't put Blu in a separate room. They kept smelling each other and at first everything seemed fine, but after around 10 minutes, Blu got closer to her face to smell her again and Ivy swatted him in the face. So we brought her back to the room alone and pet her and gave her treats (same thing with Blu), and tried letting her out again. Same thing happened, they were fine with each other (though Blu seemed more cautious now), we gave them treats near one another, and then when Blu crossed her path, she hissed at him and he got really scared, so we brought her back to her room and gave her treats and pets again. We think it's best to keep her in the room for the rest of the day, but I am unsure what to do next or if we messed up by going to fast.
Blu is a very sweet, docile, submissive cat. He has never hissed or brought his claws out in anger, he doesn't even meow or make other noises. He just loves to be cuddled and held and is curious about other cats. Ivy is also very sweet, but she was a stray for most of her life and definitely has more "cat instincts" than him, so I'm worried he might unknowingly be encroaching on her space too much without being aware of it. But I'm also worried that being hissed or swatted at could cause him to fear her, and we really don't want that.
What should we do next? How long should Ivy be kept in a separate room, and is there something else we should be doing to introduce them?

I am moving from Boston to Chicago this summer and, as I want to keep all my furniture, I have opted to drive a u-haul between the cities as opposed to flying. I adopted a cat last summer and it is the first cat I have ever owned, so I am a relatively new cat mom looking for advice of how to travel 1000 miles (a 15-16 hour drive) with him.
He is very much a homebody kind of indoor cat - he begins to cry if it even attempt to carry him outside of my apartment. I know the move is probably going to really disrupt / disorient him, and was wondering how I can make the transition more comfortable. I plan on getting a secure carrier and leaving it in the apartment with his favorite blankets and toys in it to expose him to it, but other than that I am at a loss of how else to prepare. How do I feed him / allow him to relieve himself along the journey? I am fearful he will try to run away.

They have enough toys and not an overwhelming amount, but technically a lot. My girl has a beanie belly unicorn that my boy likes, I bought a bunch for her 4 year birthday party and had a few leftover. There are a total of 4 unicorns in our house. One of them grabs a unicorn. The other one starts fighting for it. The unicorns all look the same except for one because it’s older but they’re never fighting for that one, they’re always fighting for whichever one the other has.
I bought them legos. I made sure there’s enough of each Lego type for both. They still fight over the Lego the other is using.
I bought them magnetic tiles. Two sets. I think 160 pieces total. They both only want to use the square pieces only. My daughter will stack all of them just so her brother won’t have any. When he’s not around she actually builds things.
I understand they’re not old enough to grasp sharing but they do seem to understand that things belong to them and that they can be borrowed between them. Buying two or enough of something doesn’t seem to help. Implementing turns doesn’t seem to help. Separating the toys doesn’t help either. I’m just tired of the screaming and crying.

about a uh, day or two ago i don't remember fully, i was thinking about a situation that had made me a bit angry but as i thought further on it, i slowly started to believe that an old friend from that situation knew i was thinking about it, was watching me, and wanted to witchhunt and tear me apart, it slowly evolved into Everyone was watching and knew what i was thinking and feeling, thy saw what was on my phone screen what was happening around me and even if i turned my phone off they can still navigate inside it and see all my secrets and vulnerable moments and personal information. they were just waiting to find everything i've ever said and done and posted and either dox or hurt me in some horrible way. i deleted half of my social media apps so far just so I don't have to know if they've messaged me or not, and i've been heavily thinking about deleting a lot of my accounts so they don't find them and look at them, they don't have anything bad or anything i'm just afraid they'll find something to tear apart and scrutinize or my personal information, which doesn't really align with what i think sometimes because it flip flops between they already know and are planning to kill me or they're searching and it's only a matter of time until they find it

i used to have vivid hallucinations as a child apparently, cat that screamed like a concert that mom didn't see at night, good shadow man, said it's was the anniversary of mom and dad's marrige or something and i relayed it to mom but i had never been told it was that day before and dad had been dead for a year ish by then, she got scared but never did anything about it, oh the eyes i forgot about those saw eyes ontop of the cabinet green eyes, is that called a cabinet i dont know, sounds right. it sounds right its probably a cabinet. hear phone buzzing sometimes or footsteps but theres nothing there but its the footsteps are probably just neighbors being noisy, the phone buzzing is she calls sometimes but messages me when i dont answer i dont hear it sometimes, it she didn't message me that time and it was buzzing like crazy. yeah this doenst make sense probably, just wondering if its normal or notl, i want to stop feeling like this because im kinda scared im going to hallucinate for real. does this count.

Hi, it's a lot for me and the only place where I feel people can give real support is here. Thanks in advance ❤️. My mom was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital yesterday. I spent the evening with a boyfriend who finished hard exams and wanted to celebrate a bit. He was very tired at the end and so was I, so we went to my house (he is a student from abroad and lives in the dormitory, so we are mostly at my place). The bad situation of my mom hit me before bed and I cried in his arms. He didn't ask questions, he was just there, and I really appreciate that. My cats woke us up at 5 in the morning. They were alone at home all day and so they decided to make a mess (they played under the bed), meowed, jumped on the bed. It's not the first time they've been acting like this and therefore we haven't slept. Sometimes I go to work tired because of it. And work (and sometimes date) is also the reason why I can't pay more attention to them. I've already bought extra toys, but when I'm at work and then I'm going on a date, they're still very active. My boyfriend now left me in the middle of the night saying he couldn't handle it. We talked about it today and he's sorry he reacted that way, but he was very upset and didn't want to be in that state with me. He also mentioned that he knows that cats are important to me and that this is my space and that he respects that. He also told me that huge factor is they are not his, he does not want to be involved in solving the situation because they are my responsibility. He emphasized that it was too much for him. We have only been together for 4 month now, in a month I am flying to meet his parents on the islands abroad. I care for him, he is very loving person and as I put lot of intention in giving him right questions during dating I feel confident to say we’re compatible and good match. Now the cats are causing lot of stress. I should definitely pay more attention to them and play with them, I will try harder. But if it doesn't work and I don't sleep for half the month, I don't know what to do. And what about my boyfriend? Should I take him to my apartment with me when he can’t sleep here nicely? And what about our future? Are cats going to be a dealbreaker?

There it is - the memory is clear as day. Somehow it feels like ancient history and just yesterday in equal measures. I’m driving my pride and joy at the time, my off-road Chevy truck. This movie was very early in our collecting and it’s got a special place in my heart, marking it for special memory allocation. This was a “Little Mrs. Zedd” movie - a film she watched as a child and brought to the collection. One that I’d never even heard of. She was looking to make special connections with our little girl - in a mommy and me sort of way, but I was getting in on that action - Mrs. Lady Zedd culture is something I’m always happy to share in.
We needed something simple and comforting, today. Last week’s weather was bumpy and the need to have LMZ stay with us a few days has left us both feeling out of the groove. It’s always good to see Little Miss but not under these conditions. Mrs. Lady Zedd and I just needed ((shrug)) to reconnect.
While putting our needs through the noodle to figure out this afternoon’s film, the memories of that day, 20 years ago now, just showed up like an old friend. Up the stairs I went, careful around the mid-way corner, and back down, film in hand, in just under 35-minutes! Ok, that’s not particularly fast but standing amongst all those movies, I get side-tracked.
Speaking of MLZ, she says she saw it on cable, her mother wasn’t the “take your kid to the movies” type. I think, like me, she often used movies to escape. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Just, melt into a motion picture - let it pick you up and just whisk you away. When I can project into a story, everything disappears. Time, people in the room, me sitting in my chair, all… just gone. What you might call Suspension of Disbelief extreme (xtreme?) or what we call the Movie Bubble around here

Film done, I’m much more settled, MLZ has that dreamy look I love the most. Our scores, so close on film after film in recent weeks, have become divergent. Who cares? I certainly don’t - of course we’ll be ultra close on some, super far on others. I’m convinced literally anything can be expressed in terms of a bell curve, including “people that love bell curves”. ((Mathematics!)) Here we’re likely just seeing the buoyancy of childhood nostalgia - something I’m sure Little Miss Zedd will be able to share in, thanks to her mother.
