Internal job interview rejection

ATP, L3HARRIS, Sallie Mae (Seeking guidance)

2024.05.21 12:57 Diligent_Musician380 ATP, L3HARRIS, Sallie Mae (Seeking guidance)

Hey guys. I'm an aspiring pilot looking to start my flight training journey at one of the flight schools in the US. While conducting my research into potential flight schools, I narrowed it down to L3HARRIS in Orlando or one of the ATP campuses. The primary reason to pick those schools are:
1) They advertise pathway to airline pilot programs (I have no prior flight training outside a discovery flights and a few joyrides)
2) They advertise a partnership with Sallie Mae. (I cant finance the entire cost of the program and am looking to take out a student loan as an international student)
I wanted to ask the community about what these programs are like, do they really serve as a launching pad for a career in the airlines? Is it okay to take out a loan with Sallie Mae for their ATPL course? And how easy is it for international students to get those instructor pilot jobs at school after they get their instructors licence?
Are there any better schools out there? Any knowledge or insights would be highly beneficial to me as I research prospects from over sees. If you have been a student at one of these places, please share your experience.

2024.05.21 12:56 aka_fres Internship at Odoo

Hi everyone, I'm currently waiting for the last round (technical interview) of my interview process at Odoo for a Software Developer Intern position in Belgium. Does anyone know how Odoo pays in Europe? I managed to find some information about compensation in the US, but there's very little information about it here in Europe.
Also, I'd like to know if anyone has information about the working conditions at Odoo in general, and the level of difficulty of the technical interview.
In the previous interview, HR mentioned that the technical interview consists of 3-4 questions, will take 3 hours, and might include some LeetCode questions. There might also be SQL and UML questions.
I'm currently in my second year of my BSc in CS in Italy, and I haven't encountered UML before (it will be taught next year). What should I expect from it? What kind of questions might I receive? How can i prepare for it?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.21 12:56 AppropriateFinish199 Solutions Engineer Salary Expectations

Through to the second round of the interview process, for a DevOps Solutions Engineer role at a large international company based on London (hybrid working)
I have a 3 years experience as a Data Engineer / DevOps, 2 years in an unrelated sales role and a 1st class Mathematics degree.
The recruiter has asked for my salary expectations, but honestly I have no idea what to say.
I’ve checked Glassdoor and reed for salaries, but they are mostly for senior roles or US based. And the salaries I’ve seen for my experience level are wildly different - ranging from £40k to £100k. But, there doesn’t seem to be much information out there.
How much can I expect to get in my first SE role, with my background?

2024.05.21 12:46 AncientDesign4256 Just got an unofficial offer... need advice

Dear teachers,
Today I got an unofficial job offer from a low-tier international school in BKK, Thailand. I am happy with the offer.
The school informed me that the offer would not be valid unless I have the required documents legalized by the Thai Government available, can report on time, and have the work documents issued by the government agency.
Is this normal? Is there any potential red flag I need to be aware of if I proceed with this school?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions and help!

2024.05.21 12:42 plantaires Job interview advice and how to handle being nervous?

Hey there I have a job interview coming up and I’m pretty nervous! The thing is I’m getting quite nervous about being super clear and direct with my answers on the spot, because I really struggle with being slow, clear, and direct (and not going on a billion tangents!) especially when I’m under pressure or stressed.
I start kind of over-explaining, and then worrying about over explaining, and then I forget my point, so I just kind of ramble…
So any ideas for not doing this or just general advice on how to look like a normal human being in a job interview?
Thanks!

2024.05.21 12:40 Curious_Tale7666 Amazon SDE 2 Loop Experience

So, I did it - I completed the loop interview with Amazon. Surprisingly, I felt like I had over-prepared. I only needed one small hint during the DSA round, and I got through the Problem Solving round without any help. The Low Level Design task was quite easy for me, and the System Design round went well too. After each interview, I felt like the interviewer was pleased, and I had great conversations about the project with each team member.
Now I'm waiting for feedback, and this waiting period is driving me crazy. Sometimes I feel 100% sure that I passed, and other times I'm convinced a rejection email is just around the corner. I've never been this anxious before. Waiting is a hundred times worse than preparing.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I'm really glad I got this far.

I was with my ex for nearly 2 years we come from a culture and religion where marriage is the ultimate and we don't just date for fun. The whole relationship was a whirlwind and I'm not usually a trusting person but with him he was telling me he loved me a 2 week into the relationship. Needless to say the rest we moved very fast constant dates constant soppy I love youse and I really could be myself around him, he was my first real relationship at 25 he was 24.
Within maybe 2 months I noticed he would lie about stupid silly things which really bother me because I hate it when people lie I caught him out a few times and he would cry and say he couldn't live without me and I would always end up staying,, I had a bad feeling one time and contacted his ex girlfriend who said they were still in contact now I'm not sure whether she lied about that or whether he lied. Regardless I continued to be with him as he cried and said she was lying then I found he was sending pictures of other girls to his boys group chats with really horrendous messages on what he wanted to do to them and would say it's 'boys banter' it did get toxic and became a cycle of lies crying and me being moody. He was unemployed when I met him and I worked really hard to do his applications and prepped him for interviews which resulted in him getting the job he wanted. it wasn't all bad we had some really good times too and that led us to get the families involved to get married his family didn't like me because I was from a different caste and he essentially fought to get married to me. We were so close our deposits down on venues and everything and had our wedding in 5 months. Something in my gut wasn't right and I did some digging and found something else out and before you all start on me for going looking for issues I asked him numerous times to clarify everything so I could draw a line but he just wouldn't and I kept finding things out. I met him 2 days before dooms day and we talked about our honeymoon our wedding and I told him about some health issues I was having and under the care of neurology. He told me he loved me and would never leave me. 2 nights after we argued and I deleted him but this time was different he didn't contact me or anything the next day I contacted him and he was a different person blunt rude and dismissive I asked him to meet me so we could talk in person he came and was just different I was crying whilst he smirked and told me he needed space because it was all too toxic. That same night he messaged other women he met someone 3 weeks after me and told her he loved her within 2 weeks she was his auntys neighbour and his sister in laws friend who were suprise suprise from the same caste. 2 years on and they tied the knot I'm still not over it and people are sick of listening to me crying about it I'm sick of myself doing that all I've done this past 2 years is cry and miss him every day I'm at a point where I don't even want to be here anymore so I can avoid feeling like this. Not to mention I gained weight in the relationship and after due to emotional eating I haven't dates since I've been to therapy numerous holidays nothing works. 2024.05.21 12:34 Live_Cartographer934 Situationship or potential relationship

Bit of a long one here but I’ll try to keep it short. A friend who I’ve known for roughly 1.5 years & I recently started “dating”. He used that word, I originally didn’t. But that’s what it was. We would hook up, go out, have dinner with mutual friends, I met some of his, he met my mum etc etc. He constantly talks about our “relationship” (again, his words) & when our friends call me his gf he doesn’t correct them. But here’s the thing, he uses all these buzz words… but we aren’t actually in a relationship (well, all but the title.). We have discussed this at great length (but I don’t want to bring it up again too much & scare him - hence me coming on here) & he tells me he wants that, but he doesn’t want to rush. It’ll be 3 months of dating in June. 6 months if you include the casual hook up at the start of the year. But then feelings were confessed & after a short break we reconnected.
We both officially lost our jobs this month (company we worked for went under in march) & he has a lot to sort right now which he claims is getting in the way of him being ready for a relationship at this time. No job (yet! But interviews), wanting a new house & car but the rental markets crazy & he can’t get a car until he finds a new job.
He’s fairly consistent with communication, I know I’m the only one he’s seeing & we have a great time together, seeing each other at least 1-2 nights a week with regular texts & calls in between.
So what’s the hold up? Is he being genuine & still just recovering from being burned from his last relationship (a detail I know about) plus all these other life obstacles? Or am I stuck in a situationship?
I really need advice. I really have deep feelings now but I need to end it if it’s going nowhere. An outside perspective may help! (My inside circle mostly know him & want me to stick it out)

2024.05.21 12:31 Technical_View_5582 Full time hourly rated position?

Hi everyone, I’m in the midst of interviews for an hourly rated position, but I just wanted to ask what that means exactly? In the past I always did full time salaried roles, never specifically had an hourly rated one before.
This job is also a full time role, but they stated that it’s hourly rated. What’s the difference if it’s still a full time stint? Is there any particular reason they do it this way? Is it because there might be reduced benefits or something like that? Would it affect my hours at work or time offs? Or do they take it as a way to make you do mandatory overtime? What are usually the differences between hourly and salaried?
The person asked me if I would be okay with it being hourly rated and her tone made it seem like it’s a negative thing. I didn’t get a chance to ask more questions yet. Before deciding on anything I’ll definitely ask them more questions but wanted to find out more here first. Thank you for the help!

2024.05.21 12:31 CaradogRhys 2023-2024 Season Review

Now that the sun has set on another season it’s time to reflect on our performance throughout and look forward to how next season could go.
TLDR; Much improved season but game management has cost us throughout. Continued strong recruitment for next season especially at Manager position.
Let’s begin with the raw stats.
We finished 10th for the second successive season but amassed our highest points total of 18 in the WSL alongside our best goal scoring season with 26 goals for and our best defensive season conceding 45 goals against. An improvement of 11 more goals scored and 3 fewer goals conceded than last season.
We finished third in our Continental Cup group losing only one game to Manchester United which ultimately cost us progression to the knockouts.
Furthermore, we reached the FA Cup semi final for the first time in our history, dominating lower league teams along the way.
Our top 5 goal scorers (in all competitions):
Rantala - 10 Cayman - 7 Petermann - 6 Tierney - 4 O’Brien/Whelan/Rose - 3
Top 5 assist providers (in all competitions):
Rantala - 7 Momiki - 5 Petermann - 4 Tierney - 4 Takarada - 3
End of season awards winners:
Player of the Season - Rantala Players player - Rantala Goal of the Season - Goodwin vs Liverpool Academy Player of the Season - Kiera Bell
Congratulations to all. Now on to the review proper.
We start with the positives. Recruitment has been great this year. The additions of Petermann, Rantala and Cayman have increased our goal scoring output and the acquisitions of Lietzig, Kop, Thibaud, Rose, Momiki and Takarada has added greater depth and quality to our squad and made us a more competitive team throughout the season.
We very rarely sat in against teams, aimed to play out from the back and press opposition back lines which served us well and earned plaudits from around the league especially early on in the campaign.
Additionally we have a very solid tandem of goalkeepers in Leitzig and Kop that have shown they can be rotated in for each other and not effect the confidence of the team in front of them which is a great bonus.
Finally, we continue to see success in our youth academy with them winning the double of the PGA Plate and County Cup as well as academy players continuing to get minutes in the senior team.
Now, unfortunately, the negatives.
Elephant in the room is the managerial situation. After Kirk’s dismissal for unprofessional conduct and Foster stepping down as interim manager with the conclusion of the season we are now searching for our fourth manager in three seasons in the WSL.
Something is very clearly not right behind the scenes when our last 2 male managers have crossed professional boundaries with players and our last permanent female manager was unceremoniously dismissed hours after a giving a pre match press conference. Questions have to be asked about how our next manager is going to be recruited, monitored and assessed by the higher ups. This inconsistency has been reflected in our on pitch performances and the players must be commended for how they have handled the off pitch turmoil.
To be optimistic, whomever the next manager shall be they need to keep pushing the progressive, attacking football we have developed under Kirk whilst making us a less porous side defensively and able to manage games better and see them out especially when we have the lead.
Which very neatly leads me to our biggest downside this campaign, our game management.
All of our 4 league victories this season came against two teams (Bristol City and Everton) half of those came in the opening two games of the season (where we were briefly top of the league 🙌🏻) and the other 2 came in three games at the end of January/beginning of February. That is a long time to go without success without it effecting not only our league standing but the morale of the team.
It has been a reverse of our previous seasons where instead of seeing us floundering at the bottom to pop up at the end of the season we have watched us have an electric start only to slowly but surely watch our league position erode away.
The story of our season was giving up leads and losing points from winning positions happening 7 times in the league. The most defining examples is being 2-0 up at halftime at home to Arsenal, being the better side only to be decimated in the second half and lose 6-2. Drawing 1-1 in stoppage time to a 10 player West Ham and both games against Brighton. First surrendering a two goal advantage in the final 10 minutes of the away fixture to draw the game and then taking the lead at home to only go 2-1 down, fight back to level the tie but lose to another goal conceded in the last 5 minutes.
Of those 7 leads and potential 21 points lost, if we win against West Ham and Brighton, that’s 9 points in our favour and we would be celebrating a much stronger finish to our season.
With regards to looking forward to next season I do feel we have very strong foundations to build upon and become even more competitive not only in the league but have strong cup runs as proven by our results in a tough Conti Cup group and our semi final appearance in the FA Cup.
As for personnel we have a squad full of internationals with at least half a season of chemistry with each other, excellent training facilities and the privilege of playing at the King Power for home league games.
Obviously we need a quality manager to lead us. I would have jumped at the chance to take on Carla Ward but she is taking time out to spend time with her family. Aside from her I am not so well versed in the women’s managerial landscape to make an educated suggestion. Maybe Melissa Phillips, formerly of Brighton who seemed to have good respect from her players and a decent track record with London City Lionesses and Brighton.
For players I would like to see another striker brought in. When Petermann isn’t available we lack a focal point up top and Siemsen hasn’t been relied upon much when fit.
Cover at full back would be a priority as well. Bott is outstanding and we can always rely on the experience of Cayman but depth is definitely an issue. Ale did a decent job towards the tail end of the season but is only on loan and Nevin has seemingly dropped down the pecking order.
Further depth in the middle with the departure of Whelan and a younger, more modern centre half (think Plumptre) to complement the guile and physicality that we have in place.
A third experienced keeper wouldn’t go amiss to cover for injury to Kop or Leitzig.
I’m genuinely excited to see how he play with a fully fit complement of wingers next year as that is where we are stacked with promise: Rantala, Rose, Cain, Goodwin, O’Brien and Momiki (on occasion) offer a truly dangerous outlet for us and pose any defender a headache.
One final note. Thank you to Whelan for her services as our club Captain for the last two seasons. She has lead by example, never kicked up a fuss not being a starter this season and always given 100% on the pitch. May she enjoy her retirement from football.
Feel free to add your own thoughts and opinions and we look forward to improving further in the off season.

2024.05.21 12:30 FortunateWaterbear Update: I'm kind of disappointed but am I being unreasonable?

This is an update to a post I made about 2 months ago. I was terrified of re-entering an industry that properly traumatized me for the majority of my professional life. But I attended the interview anyway and got the job.
https://www.reddit.com/work/s/6gLKfIPosg if you want to read it.
Now to the update. Also kind of long; TL:DR at the end.
I have been here a scant 2 months and already I'm seeing some worrying signs.
My people manager is great. My relationship with my colleagues, also pretty good. I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting but working on that. Gotten some feedback on my work tasks which I am actively working on. Not so bad as all that, I'm learning, I'm growing. I like being here.
But all is not, apparently, what it seems.
I was called in for a "catch up" meetping this past week which highlighted all of my shortcomings. The end result of which was the conclusion that I am not performing to the quality standards they expected.
Now, to clarify, I understand that my review wasn't going to be overwhelmingly positive. I also understand that the employer is entitled to provide me with candid feedback on how they feel I'm doing.
But, here's what worries me. This review meeting wasn't communicated to me until the last minute - so it seemed to be something urgent. My people manager was absent at the time and, after speaking with her, I learned that her full sentiments on my performance were not communicated to me. None of my positives were highlighted.
In addition, things that had been brought to my attention already (like 2 months back) and resolved within that time span are still considered ongoing issues (??). Items I have also already discussed with my managers as points on which I need guidance are also being seen as active issues - there seemed to be some negativity towards the fact that I needed guidance. In addition, items I didn't even get feedback on are suddenly poorly done. A surprise to me, but whatever.
And then this meeting was followed with a revocation of some of my privileges until I show improvement. This I have no issue with - it's the employer's prerogative, I guess.
When I reviewed the notes I got the next day, however, I noted the major gaps in the information I got. I am at a loss as to how to respond. This morning, I've also gotten an email, basically outlining my "shortcomings" and copying HR. It's that major of an issue, apparently.
I know a lot of this is from my perspective and my judgement could be clouded but that review felt like an ambush and a witch hunt. It was ad hoc an resulted in my being punished for poor performance without, again I reiterate, my direct people manager present.
In addition, it's dredging up some old traumas from my previous workplace which is making me think that maybe this isn't the place for me. Am I being too hasty? Or should I trust my gut on this one?
TL:DR - New workplace is giving me bad vibes similar to a traumatic point in my life. I've only been here 2 months and I feel like I've had enough. Am I being unreasonable?

2024.05.21 12:27 spookyisthename99 Asking for advice for follow up email…

I’ve recently just moved to the UK from North America and currently looking for jobs. I work in a very unique field that my current city doesn’t have much to offer in terms of available jobs. That being said, I’ve recently just discovered a position at a company that I would be perfect for. I sent my application in early April, as soon as the listing went up, and worked really hard on my resume, portfolio to coincide with their company, and a cover letter. The job listing doesn’t have an end date of when they will close to applications, but I didn’t think much of this.
Fast forward to the beginning of May (two weeks later after sending my application in) and I sent a follow up email stating my continued interest in the position and asking for an update. The HR person replied saying they are still reviewing applications and that they will contact me when there is an update. Now that we’re nearing close to June (two weeks since I sent follow up email) I’m wondering if I should email again to ask the status even though they have said they will give me an update. I don’t want to be annoying but I know I would be a perfect fit for this role and really want to get an interview as I’m confident that I could make a good impression.
The job listing is currently still up on indeed and their website but again I don’t want to be annoying by contacting them again after they said they will give me an update when they have one. Or if it’s progressive and will be seen in a good light contacting them for a second time two weeks after the first follow up.
Thank you!
