2024.05.21 11:31 Toteldejesus How octogenarian Cecile Guidote-Alvarez rushed to the beauty salon to tackle West Philippine Sea

On a rainy Saturday afternoon not so long ago when internet connection was fluctuating in most homes, the 80-year-old Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, widow of the late Senator Heherson Alvarez, carrying a mini iPad, hurriedly alighted from a three-wheeled pedicab Toktok and stormed her way into a popular coffee shop in a mall in Manila.

A senior citizen in panic mode, she told the stunned baristas she’s looking for a Wi-Fi connection because she was about to interview retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio via Zoom.
The coffee shop, a known world brand, has Wi-Fi exclusive to its employees, so the old lady was told to try other establishments. She went from one coffee shop to another only to be told the same, until a kind stranger led her to a well-known beauty salon with a free internet connection.
The lady salon attendant was very accommodating to the octogenarian, even typing the password on her IPad. Of course, she needed to avail herself of their salon services. Initially, she opted for a haircut, but since she needed to talk and hear clearly who she was talking to, she settled for a foot spa with pedicure.
“They lowered the volume of the piped-in music, and since there were less customers because it’s been raining all day, I was able to do my interview,” Guidote-Alvarez said.
For the next half-an-hour, the hair dressers and manicurists working with their scissors, nail clippers and cuticle removers on their customers’ hair and fingernails, listened to Carpio and Guidote-Alvarez discussed how Filipino fishermen and the Philippine Navy ships helplessly negotiate their ways in Scarborough Shoal amid the territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea.
“They were all very nice to me. I was able to finish my interview, with newly pedicured nails,” she told The Diarist.
For those who’ve worked with Guidote-Alvarez, her steadfast, almost stubborn, nature to accomplish a task, is nothing out of the ordinary. She would improvise, find alternatives, call up friends and former students, wake them up from sleep, just to get things done.
But now, in her 80s, legally blind and nearly deaf, she has mellowed down.
Cecile Alvarez with her mentors, National Artist for Literature Alejandro Roces, Jr and Fr. James Reuter. SJ
In her twilight years, Guidote-Alvarez has been solely hosting the 57-year-old Radyo Balintataw on DZRH, one of the oldest radio stations in the Philippines, where she tackles a wide range of topics, from climate change, women’s health, theater, culture, dance, to current issues, apart from playing old recordings of classic radio plays she produced and directed, dating back to the late ‘80s.
She shared with TheDiarist.ph how she started and continues to host one of the longest running advocacy programs on AM Radio.
Theater on TV
After founding the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) on April 7, 1967, or exactly 57 years ago, Guidote-Alvarez thought of the need to expose PETA’s members to television, so she started conceptualizing Balintataw, which in Filipino means the pupil of the eye, but in a larger context has something to do with having wild imagination, or what you might see if you have a third eye.
“I designed Balintataw as a bridge between cinema and the stage, where the youth being trained in theater skills can have a ready-made laboratory experience linked with the film and entertainment industry that would likewise have a natural on-the-job training and orientation regarding the theatrical discipline of working with a literary script, whether dramatic or comic—not the regular improvised script done on taping or copycat scripts from foreign themes,” Guidote-Alvarez wrote in her yet-to-be published Memoir of a Freedom Fighter’s Wife.
“A primary goal when I conceived PETA was to initiate and sustain artistic expression that draws meaning and power from the lives of the people, and sharing the literary gems with a greater number of audiences through a Broadcast Theater-Film Program with Balintataw on Channel 5,” she added.
“No matter how little the pay, at least it provided our local writers with a little honorarium. I sought permission for award-winning pieces of the Palanca Playwriting contest to be fleshed out to reach the masses. The much-awarded playwright Bert Florentino served as our literary manager, assisted by Mauro Avena. Eventually, Isagani Cruz took over when Bert left for the US,” she wrote.
“Writers need exposure and encouragement through a regular TV performance that will give them a sense of achievement and inspire them to keep on writing with some kind of honorarium. I was glad Lupita Aquino (now Kashiwahara) agreed to be TV director and Robert Arevalo as TV host.
She got members of the PETA Kalinangan Ensemble to serve as stage directors. “This is to undertake preliminary preparation with a rehearsal with the actors for character development and memorization and preliminary staging,” she wrote.
Five months after PETA was founded, Balintataw TV premiered on Channel 5 on Aug. 19, 1967, coinciding with the Buwan ng Wika birthdate of President Manuel Luis Quezon.
The first play, whose title escapes her now, featured Armida Siguion-Reyna and Maria Eva “Chingbee” Kalaw. She employed photo journalist and award-winning photographedocumentarist/cinematographer, Romy Vitug, to work with her in filming outdoor scenes for Balintataw.
In the pre-Martial Law Balintataw, among those initiated into television were Lino Brocka, Elwood Perez, Nick Lizaso, Maryo delos Reyes, Mario O’Hara, Joey Gosiengfiao, Behn Cervantes, and Frank Rivera.
Among the stage actors who crossed over to television were Lily Gamboa, Angie Ferro, Lorlie Villanueva, Jonee Gamboa, Joy Soler, Sherry Lara, Gardy Labad, Noel Trinidad.
Like with PETA, Guidote-Alvarez directed and managed Balintataw for five years. Because of Martial Law, she and husband Heherson went on exile in the US to escape a military shoot-to-kill order on Heherson, who was tagged as a subversive.
Post-Martial Law
Internationally acclaimed auteur Lav Diaz mentioned in several interviews how he learned writing radio and TV scripts in Balintataw.
This happened in the late 1980s, when the Alvarez couple returned from exile.
Despite its absence on the air in the Martial Law years, Balintataw was honored by Star Awards as among the 20 unforgettable outstanding broadcast programs in the Philippines.
“This encouraged me to consider reviving Balintataw on TV. Another blessing was a FAMAS award for having an important role in the development of cinema recognizing Balintataw as a bridge for synergizing cinema with the stage, providing a pathway of entry of our PETA artists into film and for movie stars to consider enriching their experience by acting on the legitimate stage,” Guidote-Alvarez wrote.
Though she didn’t return to PETA anymore because it had been surviving well and had its own set of officers led by Brocka, she just tapped some of its members for the return of Balintataw.
For 14 years, the Alvarez couple lived in the US as political exiles, shown here during a Ninoy Aquino Movement meeting. Cecile revived Radyo Balintataw upon their return in the late 1980s.
Channel 4 stint
“I arranged to revive TV Balintataw on Channel 4 in 1989. We began with a drama about a rebel returnee, title escapes me now, but I clearly remember it was written by Lualhati Bautista and directed by Maryo de los Reyes. We also had a good story series on the hazing of Lenny Villa, an Aquila Legis Frat neophyte,” she wrote.
At the time, Heherson had been elected senator after having served as Agrarian Reform Minister and eventually Cabinet Secretary during the first year of the Cory Aquino Administration.
“We were able to unravel the deadly hazing process from a fellow neophyte who broke the code of silence as we revealed graphically, acted the cruel process used. I had Jose Mari Avellana direct it. This presentation won all the awards. Lav Diaz was training with us and he started writing teleplays. We also had Nora Aunor in an adaptation of Bert Florentino’s The World Is An Apple, adapted by Frank Rivera, and I had Nick Lizaso direct.”
Emmy Awards
Balintataw TV was selected as one of five soaps for social change recognized by Emmy Awards. The Philippines was one of five countries cited, with Mexico, India, Brazil and Kenya.
“The nomination was made possible by the wonderful support from David Poindexter. It was a supreme honor for our country to be recognized in the Emmy Awards, to be cited among the five Third World countries using soap opera for social change.”
Poindexter was a Methodist minister and TV producer who founded the Population Communications International.
Surviving on radio
“In spite of the cry about how television can be deadening the minds of the people with copied themes with an eternal favorite love triangle story, there was really no funding for Balintataw,” she wrote.
“Sponsors would go naturally to the commercial stations where big stars were paid highly for the starring role. Balintataw may have substance but we could not afford payment of bankable stars,” she added.
“Financial stress forced me to drop TV and remain on radio because I didn’t want to kill Balintataw per se just because we didn’t have funds.”
Creative classroom
“We have focused on Balintataw as a creative classroom on the air. I was able to talk to Fred J. Elizalde of DZRH and the president of the network, Mr. Jun Nicdao,” she wrote.
In the ‘80s, the HIV/AIDS became a global epidemic and in the Philippines, the general populace was still clueless on how to deal with it.
“In order to get funding, the first series I did was about the explosive news regarding AIDS in Asia. I got the DOH Secretary at the time, Dr. Juan Flavier, to act as himself, providing the data. It was easier to start off with an AIDS radio serial.
They did a minimum of 13 episodes to raise awareness about the disease.
“From then on, some of our television scripts we transformed into a radio version. DZRH provided us with our initial production staff, so we used some from the network and some of its resident artists and drama talents. Our time slots were changing but always coming after the long-running horror drama, Gabi ng Lagim.
“We worked on the themes of overseas workers, the drug problem, corruption, aside from portraying contemporary and literary classics serving as social commentaries,” she wrote.
Women playwrights
“We dramatized the works of noted women writers and playwrights like Estrella Alfon, Genoveva Edroza Matute and Marilou Jacob, who is distinguished in being a founding president of Women’s Playwright International.
“Apart from our PETA staple of writers, we involved young, upcoming and budding university and community theater groups.
“We also had a lot of foreign plays, where we could feature theater festivals beyond borders. We could do Shakespeare, we could do Euripides but also the current playwrights in the Arab region we translated in our language.
“We brought in Chinese contemporary plays, Malaysian, Indonesian and from other women writers from ASEAN member countries.”
Virtual history book
“The significance of Balintataw is portrayed as a virtual history book on audio as it unveiled events in the country. Radio is fresh, instant and up-to date,” she added.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Balintataw became Guidote-Alvarez’s outlet and therapy. Having lost her husband on the second month of the pandemic, a widow cocooned at home, she began hosting it six days a week, learning how to use an iPad and interviewing via Zoom.
The word “Balintataw” has been associated with her name.
Visual artist and editorial cartoonist Benjie Lontoc in casual meeting told us how in his younger days, when AM Radio was a national past-time, he was surprised to hear a Filipino adaptation of No Exit by Jean Paul-Sarte. This was when radio was airing soap, fantasy adventures targeting housewives and children.
Another was the airing of Larawan as a radio play in the 1990s, with Guidote-Alvarez as the voice of Candida Marasigan.
Leopoldo Salcedo (left) as Manolo in a confrontation scene with Dante Rivero as Tony Javier in PETA’s 1968 ‘Larawan’ directed by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez. (Photo from PETA archives)
In the 1960s, she directed Larawan, the first Filipino adaptation of Joaquin’s A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino for PETA’s second season. It ran from December 1968 to January 1969 at the Raha Sulayman Theater at Fort Santiago in Intramural. In the cast were Rita Gomez (Candida), Lolita Rodriguez (Paula), Leopoldo Salcedo (Don Manolo) and Dante Rivero (Tony Javier).
Guidote-Alvarez has a funny recollection of the radio play. It was Nick Joaquin himself who told her years ago how his pedicurist suddenly started a conversation about Larawan.
Joaquin was relaxing on the barber’s chair having a post-haircut pedicure and foot spa when the lady pedicurist asked him how the story would end. Joaquin was stunned because he didn’t want to be known in the barber shop as Nick Joaquin the famous National Artist for Literature, but just a regular customer.
“He told me he almost fell out from the chair. He was a very private person and the pedicurist recognized him as the playwright,” Guidote-Alvarez, laughing, told TheDiarist.ph.
When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, she was given only three years to live. It’s been more than two decades since then. She has also conquered COVID-19 twice.
Over and beyond her work in theater and various advocacies, Guidote-Alvarez is among the few surviving practitioners of AM Radio broadcasting.
The beauty salon incident wasn’t a first for the octogenarian radio host. She occasionally went back there to interview guests and record her shows whenever Wi-Fi connections in her home fluctuated.
Despite all setbacks, man-made or otherwise, the steadfast Cecile Guidote-Alvarez’s voice continues to be heard in this mass media platform in an era that knows mainly Spotify. As Joaquin wrote, “to remember and to sing, that is her vocation.”
(Except Saturday, Radyo Balintataw airs daily on DZRH 666 Khz AM radio after ‘Gabi ng Lagim’, and live streamed on radio.org.ph. Some episodes have been uploaded on YouTube.)

2024.05.21 06:07 Crowsbeak-Returns We're probably going to lose another of great word now. https://www.teenvogue.com/story/the-sinister-history-of-the-word-moron-explained

So, these imbeciles have gotten it itno their heads because bad word may have in part been developed in part by someone associated with the Eugenics movement we can't use that word. (I suspect the fetal achohol syndrome sufferers who wrote this don't like its become a alternative to a certain other beautiful word we can't use anymore). Also of course attacks the very concept of the asylum system that totally wouldn't be a good place to put every neurotic idiot who subscribes to the thought this article seeks to propagate. Also the attempt to tie that judge to weirdo white nationalists and the right as meaning just the right as a whole rather then a specific small section is funny. Should be noted both sides of the aisle united in TN to actually make this shit illegal and reprimanded said judge https://clarksvillenow.com/local/proposal-would-stop-judges-from-offering-less-jail-time-in-exchange-for-sterilization/
Also I love how they try to turn this into a diatribe against those who would like immigration lowered.
The Sinister History of the Word "Moron," Explained
It's much more than just a casual insult.
By Marlena Scott
September 12, 2017FWHTTB The science of eugenics and sex life, the regeneration of the human race (1914)Z4 Collection / Alamy Stock Photo
OG History is a Teen Vogue series where we unearth history not told through a white, cisheteropatriarchal lens. In this piece, writer Marlena Scott explores the history of of the word "moron," which is tied to the eugenics movement in the United States.
"Moron" is commonly used to describe someone who has made a decision that is perceived as unwise, or to scold oneself over a mistake or slipup. Whichever way the word is flung around, the origins of "moron" are far more sinister.
The term is attributed to psychologist and eugenicist Henry H. Goddard, who used it to describe “feeble-minded” individuals. It is closely tied to the United States’s involvement in eugenics, a scientific term, meaning "well-born," that describes the belief that the human population can be controlled by breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. It focuses on eliminating “undesirable” individuals, singling out unmarried mothers, people of color, the poor, and those with disabilities. In the United States, eugenics influenced much of the immigration and segregation policies in the 20th century. "Moron" and other words like it — such as "idiot" — were used to support racist, classist ideas and to advance white supremacy behind the mask of scientific advancement.
According to a report from NPR's Code Switch, "moron" was born of Goddard’s fascination with intelligence and his desire to measure what it was and what it was not. In the early 20th century, psychologists grouped people who fell behind the ideal measure of intelligence into three categories that we now recognize as casual insults: “imbecile,” “idiot,” and “feeble-minded.” Goddard, unsatisfied with the existing terms, coined "moron" to embody both low intelligence and behavioral deviance. None of these endured as medical terms, but at the time they were enough to institutionalize someone and sterilize them as a means to prevent them from reproducing.
Goddard organized patients by disease, habit, or condition, as laid out in his 1911 work, Heredity of Feeblemindedness. He analyzed and coded families with the following qualities: "A, alcoholic (habitual drunkard); B, blind; C, criminal; D, deaf; Dwf, dwarf; E, epileptic; F, feeble-minded, either black letter, or white letter on black ground (the former when sex is unknown); I, insane; M, migraine; N, normal; Sx, grave sexual offender; Sy, syphilitic; T, tuberculous; W, wanderer, tramp, or truant." Goddard wrote of one family: “The offspring of the feeble-minded woman and this feeble-minded man were three feeble-minded children and two others who died in infancy. An illegitimate child of this woman is feeble-minded and a criminal.”
"The idiot is not our greatest problem. He is indeed loathsome. ... Nevertheless, he lives his life and is done. He does not continue the race with a line of children like himself. ... It is the moron type that makes for us our great problem," Goddard said in 1912.
The volume of immigrants coming into the country during the early 20th century was the highest it had ever been. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 1901 and 1910, 8,795,400 people immigrated to the United States, primarily from the area then known as Austria-Hungary, Italy, and Germany. It was essential to Goddard's work to ensure there were no "feeble-minded morons" in the bunch, so he sent assistants to Ellis Island in 1913 to observe and identify "morons" according to his methods. As previously mentioned, one of Goddard's methods included a pseudoscientific coded guide that looked something like a family tree. Goddard would study families, code their behavior by letter, and draw conclusions that the feeble-mindedness or blindness or deafness of the preceding generation would affect the children. According NPR's Code Switch, 40% of Italians, Hungarians, and Jewish people that were tested qualified as "morons" and were deported in 1913. Deportations doubled the following year.
WATCH

Those labeled "moron" could be institutionalized, deported, or sterilized in order to create a race of humans deemed superior by those in positions of influence and power, according to a New Yorker piece on the history of eugenics. Eugenics was widely embraced in academia and even celebrated at the World's Fair. In the first half of the 20th century, this movement in the U.S. led to the involuntary sterilization of around 60,000 people, mostly women of child-bearing age, who were subjectively deemed unfit to reproduce.
Federally funded sterilization programs were legalized in 32 states. The state of Virginia passed its Eugenical Sterilization Act in 1924, and to test the legality of the law, Carrie Buck, a poor 17-year-old girl from Charlottesville, was sent to the Virginia Colony for Epileptics and Feeble-Minded — an asylum for those deemed so-called "morons" where her mother, Emma, had been admitted just a few years prior. Carrie was pregnant as the result of rape and, after giving birth, was sterilized at the colony with no understanding of what was happening to her. The move was backed by law and further supported by the Supreme Court, as demonstrated in the 1927 Buck v. Bell case, in which the court ruled that the sterilization of the "unfit" — including the intellectually disabled — did not violate the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. After observing Buck, her mother, and her grandmother — all poor white women — Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. delivered the opinion of the court, writing, "three generations of imbeciles was enough." This decision has never been overturned.
If this thought process sounds grossly aligned with ideals promoted in Nazi Germany, that’s because it is — but eugenics and the attempt to discontinue “feeble” bloodlines is American-bred. In the 1930s, Nazi leadership turned to American eugenics as inspiration in developing tactics to ensure the erasure of European Jews. In Mein Kampf, Adolf Hilter wrote, “There is today one state in which at least weak beginnings toward a better conception [of immigration] are noticeable. Of course, it is not our model German Republic, but [the U.S.] …”
Southern black women were sterilized en masse, often without consent, for much of the 20th century. It was a practice so common that it received a nickname: a "Mississippi appendectomy." The sterilization of Native Americans occurred as late as the 1980s. While some states have formally apologized for their role in the practice, the desire to control “undesirable” groups still persists among some in the U.S., leaving vulnerable populations at risk.
In May, Sam Benningfield, a general sessions judge in Tennessee, announced that he would offer shorter prison sentences to inmates — a population largely impacted by the nation's ongoing opioid crisis — who would undergo vasectomies or receive the birth control implant Nexplanon. "I'm trying to help these folks begin to think about taking responsibility for their life and giving them a leg up — you know, when they get out of jail — to perhaps rehabilitate themselves and not be burdened again with unwanted children and all that comes with that," Benningfield told CBS News. In July, the judge pulled the offer following protest from health officials and civil rights attorneys, according to The Washington Post.

Nine decades after Carrie Buck was sterilized, white nationalists, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the so-called "alt-right" gathered in her hometown for "Unite the Right" rallies on August 11 and 12. Many of those present called for a "purer" race of human beings and chanted phrases like, "You will not replace us." The weekend ended in violence and the death of Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old woman who was killed when a driver slammed into a crowd of anti-racism counterprotesters.

The city of Clare and community was thrown into a stage of excitement last Saturday night when it became known that Isaiah Leebove, 42, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mammoth Producing and Refining Corporation of this city, had been shot and killed and Attorney Byron Geller had suffered two bullet wounds in the left thigh at the hands of Jack Livingston, 45, also an oil promoter, who has made his home occasionally at the hotel for the past eight years.
The shooting affray took place in the grill room of Hotel Doherty at 10:15 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Geller had taken a seat opposite each other at a table in a booth at the west side of the room. A few minutes later Mr. Leebove and his nephew, Sam Braunstein, entered and shared the booth with them. At this time Mr. Livingston who was sitting at a table with a Mr. and Mrs. Marr near the center of the room, excused himself and left. A short time later he returned and resumed his seat. In the course of a few minutes he again left his chair and stepping quickly to the booth occupied by the four people fired three shots in succession at Leebove.
One of the bullets passed through Leebove’s left arm into his chest, piercing a rib, into his heart and completely through the body. Another passed through his left forearm and through the fleshy portion between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand. It is thought that it was this bullet that entered Mr. Geller’s thigh, glazing the pelvis bone. The third bullet is thought to have inflicted the flesh wound in the upper part of Mr. Geller’s leg.
With the words “Jack! Jack!—why”, Mr. Leebove fell from his seat to the floor and died instantly. At this point Mr. Braunstein jumped to his feet and grabbed Livingston's arms and held them up so as to prevent more damage at the same time forcing him toward the door of the lobby. Here Livingston turned the butt of the gun away from him and handed same to Harry Wehrly, assistant manager of the hotel.
During this time Mr. Geller had dropped to the floor and crawled on his hands and knees to the south side of the room and several minutes elapsed before it was discovered he had been injured. After his wounds had been examined, he was rushed to the Clare County General Hospital where late reports are to the effect that he is recovering nicely.
After being taken to his room by bellhop Stanley Parish, Livingston's first request was that he send his father a telegram and it was during the wording of this that Chief of Police William Dunlop came in and made the arrest, which Livingston talked calmly and without regret as to his act. When informed that he had also wounded Mr. Geller he stated that he was sorry, that he considered Mr. Geller his friend and would not harm him for the world.
Accompanied by Mayor Dunlop, the Chief of Police ushered Livingston to the rear of the hotel where Sheriff George Bates, his deputy Robert Caster and state police took charge of the prisoner and rushed him to the county jail at Harrison.
Coroner A. N. Friz removed the body of Mr. Leebove to his undertaking rooms and impaneled a jury consisting of Wallace Johnson, John Kesckman, Paul Koch, Leo Brown, Frank Irwin and Alex McKinnon for an inquest that was held in the auditorium of the city hall Monday forenoon. Eight witnesses were summoned, but only two were heard, Mrs. Byron Geller and Dr. B. J. Sanford, who with Dr. F. G. Slattery performed the autopsy Sunday forenoon. After being out nearly three-quarters of an hour, the jury returned with a verdict of “Isaiah Leebove died as the result of a gunshot wound which pierced the heart.”
Mr. Leebove's body laid in state in the Doherty Funeral Home for a brief period Sunday evening and was then taken by funeral car to Pittsburg for the funeral services and interment on Tuesday. Samuel Garfield and C. W. Clark attended the rites and acted as pallbearers.
Mrs. Leebove, wife of the slain man, was driven to Mt. Pleasant Monday morning, where she boarded the private planed of Walter L. McClanahan for the flight to Pittsburgh, Pa.
Acquaintances of Leebove and Livingston state that trouble has been brewing between the two men since they severed business connections several years ago. Livingston has maintained a room at the hotel buying and selling oil leases. He was a jolly nature and delighted in practical jokes. Both men have many friends in Clare and throughout central Michigan.
Attorney Byron Geller, former reporter for a Detroit newspaper, and twice assistant attorney general, came to Clare about April 1st and entered private practice in the offices vacated by Attorney Theo. G. Bowler. About three weeks ago he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Geller, of this city, who is almost constantly at his bedside. During his short stay here he has made many friends who join in wishing him a speedy recovery.
Samuel A. Braunstein was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., where he attended school. He was graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1928, and was connected with a prominent Pittsburgh investment company until 1934, when he came to Clare as office manager for the Mammoth Petroleum Corporation. He is at the present time Vice President of the Mammoth Producing and Refining Corporation. During his residence here he has won many friends and is admired for his efficient business methods.
---
Isaiah Leebove was born in Pittsburgh, November 27, 1894, where he received his primary and high school education. He was graduated from the law school of Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tenn., and was admitted to the bar by the Texas Supreme Court, July 3, 1916.
Mr. Leebove practiced law in Texas and Oklahoma until November 20, 1921, when he moved to New York City. He was admitted to the New York bar June 7, 1922, and among the numerous endorsements was one from Associate Justice William Pierson of the Supreme Court of Texas. He was also endorsed by Louis H. Solomon, a prominent New York attorney, who had retained Mr. Leebove as counsel while investigating oil properties in Oklahoma.
The high class recommendations given Mr. Leebove by prominent attorneys who had known him intimately, have him entry into the leading circles of his profession, and he entered into partnership with a prominent law firm having offices on Fifth Avenue. He never severed his connections with this firm and has often been called to the city for purposes of consultation and advice.
Mr. Leebove's contact with the oil industry in the west gave him an intimate insight into that business and he came to Michigan during the early days of the oil development in this section. He interested himself in some of the drilling projects in the wildcat territory to the north of Clare and also in the proven field in Vernon, located four miles to the south of the city.
Several years ago Mr. Leebove purchased the home of Walter Pettit, known as “Wildwood,” and he has added to the bungalow until it has become one of the finest of modern residences in this section of the state. Improvements were under way on this property at the time of his death. The original ten acres that he purchased has been landscaped and improved and is a show place of this section.
He purchased addition acreage and there is a game preserve on the property that is well stocked with all kinds of native wildlife.
Mr. Leebove has been very successful in his business and the Mammoth Producing and Refining Corporation, which he organized and of which he has always been the directing head, is the largest independent producer east of the Mississippi River. The company occupies for its offices the entire second floor of the Citizens State Bank building.
Last December, Mr. Leebove purchased the Clare County Savings Bank building and up until the time of his death had not revealed his plans in this investment.
Mr. Leebove had always been affiliated with the Democratic Party but his public activities in politics were limited to the campaigns of former Governor William A. Comstock, whom he regarded as one of his best and nearest friends. He often expressed himself to his friends as being entirely uninterested in any office or political position.
Mr. Leebove was quiet and unassuming in his appearance and manner and made few close associates. He kept his own counsel and was loath to giving out information of his business affairs.
He was interested in the welfare of the community in which he made his home and contributed generously to all civic programs and undertakings.
Mr. Leebove gave much to charity but never advertised the fact and would not permit any publicity of his gifts. Last Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Leebove gave hundreds of dollars in clothing and food to needy families and children of this community.
In the death of Isaiah Leebove, this city has lost one of its most loyal supporters. The esteem and respect in which he was held in this city was shown about two years ago when some interests in the state assailed his reputation and a special meeting of the City Council was held and a resolution expressing confidence in his honesty and public-spiritedness was unanimously adopted by that body.
The body laid in state in the Doherty Funeral Home for a brief period Sunday evening and was then taken by funeral car to Pittsburgh for the funeral services and interment.

2024.05.21 01:42 littlelulumcd Karma's OG release date?

Karma's OG release date?
Here I come with some Karma 🤡 looking at the past not when I think Karma might be released in the future.
I was reading this article on the 40th anniversary of Elton John coming out as bisexual - he came out as bi before coming out as gay later on. I highly recommend reading the article because the narrative around his coming out is very interesting when looking through the lens of some of the discussion about Taylor.
I have recently been thinking of posts or comments discussing Taylor in connection to Elton’s album “Good bye yellow brick road”. A possible connection that has been discussed I think is Taylor skipping down a yellow brick road in the Karma mv 🤡
Here’s where I become a massive 🤡
The date of the article aka Elton’s John 40th coming out anniversary was October 7, 2016. You know an album that was rumoured to come out in late 2016 until it was forced to be scrapped and could have been a coming out album? That would have been released about two years after her most recent album (1989 was released on October 27, 2014) when she was known for releasing albums in 2 year cycles?
What if that was the date that Karma was set to be released? October 7, 2016 was on a Friday 🧡🤡
That feels like something Taylor would do if she wanted her coming out to be tied to another coming out that was seen as revolutionary.
Want to know what did come out on that date in 2016? The news that the original lyrics that Kanye wrote for Famous were even more controversial than what was released.
Two fun facts:
6 days after I think Karma (original TS6) was going to be released, Taylor was spotted wearing this 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 whoops my bad, I got the dates wrong on this. She was pictured wearing the orange in 2019. I will give myself .25 connections points for this 💀
Edit: I deserve full connection points after all! Thanks to u/MarbCart for pointing out that the pics are from October 13, 2016! That is written in the tweet. It's the tweet that is from 2019. Woo! This fun fact is still one lmao
Taylor came out as a Democrat on October 7, 2018

2024.05.20 23:01 WhiskyPhilDoctor Doctor, Diet, DIY, and Despair

Hi all, long-time lurker and first-time poster.
I was first diagnosed in November 2022 (breath test results below). I've been through massive improvement, followed by relapse at least twice since. Just finished another course of Rifaximin and only days later I feel like I'm relapsing already (I decided against Neomycin this time, for fear of doing long-term damage to my microbiome, but that presumably reduced my chances of success).
Here are some questions I have, in case anyone's willing offer advice or just share their story.
  1. Like many of you, my gastroenterologist sucks (will hand out pills, but nothing else) - any tips for finding a better one? (Orange County, CA)
  2. What the heck do I eat in the meantime? (Background: I'm struggling to navigate what I'm sure many of you will find a familiar dietary dilemma. I can't follow the standard gut health advice to eat lots of high-fiber raw or whole foods because most seem to exacerbate my symptoms (primarily constant bloating). But I also want to avoid highly- and ultra-processed foods for the sake of my poor large intestine. Which leaves... what? (I did low FODMAP once, and although it seemed to help for about six months after, I felt horrendous by the end, couldn't clearly identify any specific triggesensitivity during reintroduction (except maybe sorbitol, and that was borderline), and logistically, it was a nightmare, so I'd rather not repeat it.)
  3. Do I dare try a DIY approach to treatment? Since I'm starting to experience the constant bloat again, and it's so existentially awful, I'm sorely tempted to try something on my own. I'm vaguely familiar with the herbal protocols (Biotics research, etc.), but I'm concerned about die-off/herx reactions, etc. And I don't know how long I'd be committing to potentially feeling awful or what to eat during. Your positive/negative experiences doing it DIY are welcome.
  4. Any advice on preventing relapses? (May be too late for me, but maybe it would be good to know for next time.)
Thanks in advance.
These are my results from my original diagnosis in 2022.

Map without HRE borders and names
Couple of notes before the mess below. I do not speak German, French or Italian - making this was fun ;_;. Anyway, this is my best guess at the setup of the Holy Roman Empire in 1st April of 1337. I noted some mistakes within the list with regards to the map. I hope I covered the vast majority of it, but if you spot any issues please do write. Also, that blank spot inside Germany is not a mistake, it's possesions of the Teutonic Order, not a HRE member.
P.S. Managed to beat ya Paradox before Germany map reveal on Tinto Maps! P.S.S. Lord Lambert, I know you are here somewhere. The map was painful to make, but a good kind of painful. Maps are like drugs you see, and I made all the maps...

# Team Δ Comment Record
1 Phillies +1 The Phillies went 6-1 on the week with the one loss being in extra innings. The team is just firing on all cylinders. Johan Rojas and Nick Castellanos (and Merrifield, Pache, and Stubbs) are borderline black holes in the lineup and yet they have a team OPS+ of 113. Ranger Suarez had his worst start of the year while giving up 0 earned and getting the win while Zack Wheeler bounced back nicely from a rough outing and pitching into the 8th. Aaron Nola had an Aaron Nola week, throwing a CGSO then looking dominant but giving up 3 runs on sudden home runs. The vibes for this team are just off the charts, and they look to carry that into the next week with 3 against the defending champ Rangers before heading out to Coors for a 3 game set. 34-14
2 Dodgers -1 The Dodgers ran some questionable lineups this week where it seems like Dave Roberts was kind of expecting to lose? It seemed like at least one of the star players on the Dodgers sat each game. The good news is that there are so many star players that the team can afford to do that and still go 5-2 on the week. With Buehler back and starting to look good (and happy) it seems the Death Star is fully operational. 32-17
3 Yankees +1 Back-to-back sweeps is fun, even if one was against a minor league team and the other was our version of the Washington Generals. Who do you even rave about on this team right now? Judge and Soto are red-hot simultaneously. Stanton is playing about as well as we could’ve possibly hoped for. The rotation is incredible. Clay Holmes still has not allowed an earned run into mid-May, cementing himself in Yankee lore even if it all falls apart tomorrow. There’s really not any one storyline to go nuts about, the Yankees are really just a well-rounded, high-functioning machine. Most fun the team has been to watch since as a whole unit since 2019. 33-15
4 Orioles -1 The O's now start a stretch of something like 27 games in 29 days. They are moving to a 6-man rotation, which will shorten their already taxed bullpen. The offense continues to have its ups and downs but the starting pitching has been unbelievable. This week the team travels to St Louis and Chicago to play the Cards and the White Sox. No offense to either of those teams but if there is a time for the bats to get right, this is it. 29-15
5 Braves 0 Ok. It's getting old. It's time to start hitting. This offense was HISTORIC a year ago. So far this year...we are in the bottom half the league in runs scored. Unacceptable. We can talk about how soft the Phillies schedule is all we want...but we have to win too. Pitching has been great recently for the most part (aside from Sunday night's game), but we can't seem to hit when we are pitching well or pitch well when we are hitting. It's gonna click...but how long will it take? 26-16
6 Guardians +2 When I did this last week, the Guardians had just lost three of four to the White Sox. Maybe that was the wakeup call they needed, because I'd say this was probably their best week of the season so far. They took 2/3 against the reigning WS champs and then swept our biggest division rival. The crowd in Cleveland was so into those games and they were great to be at. Saturday's game was our first May sellout in 11 years. 30-17
7 Brewers 0 The Brewers had another average week, beating the Pirates and dropping a series to the Astros, but their hot start has been enough to stay on top of their medicore division. Bobby Gas is still the GOAT. 27-19
8 Royals +2 I just watched the new Foolish video which features the 2023 Royals doing something stupid. Last year, the Royals won their 30th game on July 28. They have 29 on May 20. They're 10 games above .500 for the first time since 2015. They have the best position player and the best pitcher right now..... in the AL at least. Our biggest problems are MJ Melendez and a couple outfielders we paid like $10M on combined? Complaining while winning is a privilege. 29-19
9 Cubs 0 The Cubs slumping offense finally hit rock bottom, scoring 3 runs or fewer in 5 out of their 7 games. The injuries to Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner loomed large, as their replacements were totally inept at the plate and a massive downgrade in the field, as numerous additional hitters were able to reach base that wouldn't normally do so. The rotation which had been so excellent was slightly more inconsistent, including a disastrous Kyle Hendricks start, but the lack of run support meant it didn't really matter. While Swanson and Hoerner's returns should help the offense, Hendricks unfortunately would be addition by subtraction from the rotation. The last remaining cub from the World Series team and fan favorite has been the worst starting pitcher in baseball so far, and the Cubs cannot afford to continue giving him starts while they need to win games. They will try to right the ship this week against the Braves and their first meeting with the Cardinals 26-22
10 Mariners +1 A bit of a mixed week - the record shows 3-3, but it felt like a miracle to even make it there. Injuries are starting to stack up on the (already not-so-great) offense, and something's gotta give there at some point, right? ...right? Dipoto and co. have the farm talent to make an aggressive trade ahead of the market, and getting a solid hitter for an extra month may be huge down the line (especially if the Astros are indeed coming back to life.) *Up next: 4 @ Daaaaaaaaaaa Yankees Lose, 3 @ Walgreens 25-22
11 Twins -5 What a disaster of a week. The sweep by the Yankees was completely predictible, but then we went to Cleveland and our week did not get better. The sausage disappeared, then the series hinged on bad umpiring, a couple bad pitches, and some excellent Cleveland defense. The 12-game win streak showed how good the Twins could be, and this 6-game losing streak has shown how much we can struggle. Which team will we be for the reat of the season? I don't know, but the rollercoaster is not a fun time. 24-22
12 Padres 0 It really stung to get swept at home vs Colorado, and brought up a lot of bad press, and odd questions about ‘who’s the captain?’ etc. All makes me feel like we're in mid-season form. I really think it’s all overblown. When you lose games you’re supposed to win (or at least not get swept at home), tempers flare up, people in the clubhouse, and in the stands can say things in anger. When you win, everyone talks about the camaraderie, the chemistry between the players, leadership, etc. What I really see here is a team playing to their season expectations so far, and even hanging onto the last spot in the weaker NL Wild Card Race. A few wins in Atlanta was just what the doctor ordered, especially on the national stage Sunday. To make up for the rainout on Saturday, the Padres have a doubleheader today, and don’t have a day off until May 30th. They actually have 12 games in an 11 day span here. 24-24
13 Rangers 0 IL list looking like a MASH unit and the ones who are supposed to be recovering keep getting set back. 3 of the opening day starting rotation are on the IL, and that doesn't even include Scherzer, deGrom, and Mahle who all started the season on the list. Jack Leiter still isn't ML ready unfortunately but his improvements in AAA this year give some hope that development and progress is possible, just going to take more time. Things are going well. 24-24
14 Rays +2 The Rays certainly aren't winning on run differential, not super sure about fun differential, but last week was a big swing for the division and wild card chances. If this newfound consistency continues, September could be exciting- especially if a few more key players return from injury. Shoutouts to Isaac Paredes who is quietly having a really nice follow up to last year, and to Jonny DeLuca who is OPSing over .900 at the moment. 25-23
15 Red Sox -1 I'm breaking new ground in theoretical baseball analysis. Folks, the 2024 Boston Red Sox are a perfect analogue to the 2010 San Diego Chargers. Our offense is cracked, Duran figured out how to field, Abreu out of nowhere is a 3-4 WAR player, and TON is gonna crank 40 dingers with 50 RBIs. Connor Wong has a .900 OPS with a cannon arm. Devers has 5 HRs in his last 5 games. Our starting pitchers are out of nowhere one of the best staffs in the league, and our bullpen is nothing to scoff at. 2nd in the AL by ERA, and 4th by OPS. Despite this, we are UNDER .500!!! Like that Chargers team, we fail in the least quantifiable of ways. Our infield defense has been a rotating disaster, contributing to our 37 unearned runs. Our bats have been fantastic when piling on runs in blowouts, but awful in high leverage situations. We are the ultimate analytics failure. A 26 man roster filled with talent and individual performance, but all of it comes together to produce a mediocre product. There is plenty of time to turn things around, but I just do not know if they've got that Dog In Them to win baseball games. But, if you fuck with the WAR, we're killing it. 23-24
16 Tigers -1 Let's take a moment to notice the sudden emergence of Wenceel Perez, who came into the season as a depth prospect piece. Taking advantage of Parker Meadows' struggles, Perez has slashed a gaudy .300/.373/.533 over his first hundred PAs while maintaining a lot of red on his Statcast page. Whether this will keep up is to be determined, but he's provided a spark in the top third of the lineup while Detroit keeps flirting with the .500 mark. This week: 3 at KCR, 4 vs. TOR. 23-23
17 Astros +7 The Astros are giving me whiplash. Bad, okay, good, bad, good, okay. It would be nice if we were starting to figure things out though; would make for a more pleasant summer. Not too pleasant, though, because it is damn hot. 21-26
18 D-Backs -1 The Diamondbacks can't seem to figure it out. The offense rarely scores enough runs to win a game despite being 4th in the NL in runs scored per game. The pitching is both kinda bad and unlucky. The defense has improved, at least. It's not clear the coming reinforcements due to better health are going to be enough. 22-25
19 Giants +2 The Giants had another 4-2 week and finally beat the Dodgers. I feel okay, and so should you. Snell is back this Wednesday, the bullpen is starting to solidify, the Rivercats are hitting, the schedule isn’t that oppressive right now, Lee is gone forever, and, oh, right. Lee is gone forever. Okay, but other than that one thing, things are okay. Let’s ground ourselves with some numbers: 22nd in MLB in Run Diff, 21st in RS/G, 21st in RA/G, 25th in Bullpen ERA. Well, hmm. But I swear things looked worse 10 games ago. You have to believe me. @PIT and @NYM this week. Believe it or not, a winning week would put the Giants at .500. But I think we’d all be fine with a 3-3 road trip including a good Snell start and no new injuries. 23-25
20 Mets -2 Now that the Knicks season has ended in heartbreaking fashion, it's time for me to start paying full attention to the Mets again. I'm sure this week must've gone well..... OH DEAR GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO EDWIN DIAZ? 21-25
21 Pirates +4 Having Paul Skenes and Jared Jones in your rotation is awfully nice, isn't it? That one-two punch allowed the Pirates to take the first 2 games of a 4-game series in Chicago, with Mitch Keller claiming the finale on Sunday to earn a series victory (but Bailey Falter's performance on Saturday in a 1-0 loss was the best of all). The bats have started to come to life a bit, bolstered by the arrival of Nick Gonzales and the (hopfeully) imminent depature of Rowdy Tellez. As bad as the offense was for the past month, the Bucs are still treading water in a NL Central bereft of a dominant team. 22-26
22 Blue Jays -2 It's the hope that kills you. The Jays very nearly had a perfect week, but lost one to Baltimore and two vs TB by one run in each game, all in uniquely heart-breaking fashion: Baltimore was a walkoff loss after a bad hop led to a man on for Adley to bounce the winning HR off the top of the fence, spoiling a gem by Kikuchi. Then we averted disaster by breaking up a perfect game in the 8th by a not-good pitcher, only to see the comeback fall just short due to a couple bone-headed errors. Then we gave up a late lead on yet another bullpen implosion, spoiling a gem of a game by Gausman. There have been bright spots (keeping things close, Manoah throwing another amazing game, Vlad and others hitting really well), but they're at a tipping point here. With a soft schedule for the next two weeks, they can make a run and get back in the wild card hunt, or stumble and set up an obvious sell-off. 20-25
23 Nationals -4 Rough week for the Natty Daddies as they got swept by division rival Phillies on the heels of losing a series to the dreadful White Sox. I believe the Phillies are hitting their stride so the sweep doesn't bother me (2 close losses) but being shut out in back to back games vs the White Sox is tough to swallow especially given one was to Nationals legend Erick Fedde. What's next - can someone dig up AJ Cole and throw him against the Nats too? 20-25
24 Reds -1 We are trapped in the belly of the Big Red Machine. And the machine is bleeding to death. The sun has fallen down. And the scoreboards are all leering. And the Reds flags are all dead at the top of their poles. It went like this: The Reds tumbled in on themselves. Pitchers clutching hitters as they lost game after game, and gave up more and more runs. The skyline was beautiful on fire, rivers of chili stretching upwards. Everything washed in a thin orange haze. I looked at Mr. Red and whispered: "Kiss me, you're beautiful, these are truly the last days". He grabbed my hand and we fell into it, like a daydream or a fever. We woke up one morning and fell a little further down, For sure it's the valley of death. I open up ESPN, and it's full of more losses. 19-28
25 Cardinals +1 Sweeps are hard. The Cardinals have found some footing and look to have gotten off the mat as they answer a 1-5 week with a 4-2 week. The schedule this week will certainly test how stable that footing truly is as the Orioles and Cubs come to town. 20-26
26 Angels +1 Somehow this team took two of three from the Rangers. Instead of focusing on any negativity this week, I will note and celebrate what likely was one of the season highlights for this team. 18-29
27 Athletics -5 We suck lol, have won one game in the past two weeks and a -22 run diff in our L10. Obviously luck plays a role but other than maybe Rooker (with one good season) no one here is a proven quality player. We're still overperforming our Pythagorean W-L by a game to boot 19-30
28 Rockies 0 The Rockies won seven games in a row for their only winning streak of the season so far. Now it's time to see how many games they can lose in a row. 15-31
29 Marlins +1 Oh look the fish have won back to back series for the first time this season, yaaaaaaay. That being said our bullpen continues to be shaky as a tree branch during a hurricane so that likely wont be happening much against teams over .500. On the plus side, most of our starters have been consistent and luzardo has been doing just fine since returning from the IL. Burger still hasnt quite caught back up to how he was swinging before going out for his oblique injury but hopefully he can start getting on base. Thankfully the prodigal Son Otto Lopez has continued to do work, currently sporting an .885 OPS. Were starting off the week with a 3 game series in milwaukee and then head back home to host the sneks. 15-33
30 White Sox -1 What is there to say about the White Sox? They are the worst hitting team in the league by a considerable margin. They have the 4th worst pitching ERA and judging by the advanced metrics, they've been lucky to achieve even that. Even since they stopped playing like an all-time bad team in early May, they are still playing like the worst team in the league, with their 230/280/365 slash line. They just got outhomered 8-1 in the Bronx while being outscored 17-5 which is pretty typical for the season so far. The White Sox stink and unless you hate yourself, you shouldn't be watching them. 14-33

2024.05.20 22:47 Ecstatic-Mall8535 The Mandela (Catalogue) Effect Theory

So I've had this theory on my mind for quite a while but I have become more rigid in my belief of it since not only Mandela Catalyst but the new channel ''GENESIS APOCRYPHON'' as well. I know you guys have probably read endless litanies of theories written on this subreddit, so perhaps this will fall through the cracks like the rest and understandably so. Perhaps my theory is just flagrantly wrong also but I think even if that happens to be the case perhaps I can get some aspect of the Mandela Catalogue correct within this. I will begin with an introduction to the theory, then I will bring forth my evidence which will be followed with speculation upon the piece of evidence in relation to the theory. Finally, I will end with a conclusion based on the introduction and evidence combined.
Introduction:
There has been two aspects of the Mandela Catalogue which have distracted me ever since the series began, these two aspects are things which I see seldom discussed within the various theory channels, forums and other mediums which have taken on the yolk of unpacking this anomaly of a horror series. They are as follows:
  1. Why was the name Mandela Catalogue chosen? Is it really just a random name that Alex came up with in reference to the fictional Mandela County?
  2. What is the true meaning of the US Department of Temporal Phenomena? Meaning, in what sense do their focus or actions relate to temporal operations?
These questions on their own may seem distantly connected or unrelated completely but with a bit of speculation one could see these two being completely intertwined. In regards to question one, what do we know about the term ''Mandela''? Well everyone has heard of the famous ''Mandela Effect'' where a large amount of people believe something to be true (usually relating to something in their childhood) but is not actually the case, the namesake being an example of this. A large proportion of people mistakenly believed Nelson Mandela to have passed away in prison during the 1980's, in actuality he died in 2013. Hence being the first popular example of this effect and thus obtaining the name of ''The Mandela Effect''.I am not here to argue the veracity of the Mandela Effect or any of the theories regarding it but I am here to focus in on this definition. So keep the definition of ''where a large amount of people believe something to be true (usually relating to something in their childhood) but is not actually the case'' in your mind going forward. Another point of note is the usage of ''Catalogue'' for the name. This implies a retroactive look at the events taking place in the series, someone is ''cataloguing'' the events taking place in Mandela county. This little titbit will come in to be very important in my theory.
In regards to question two, we need to properly define ''temporal'' which I have seen many wrongly define. Temporal does not simply refer to time but rather the perception of the linear progression of time from past to present to future. This perception is not universal in humanity and many cultures don't view time in this fashion. So we may be able to define ''Temporal Phenomena'' as psychological/sociological occurrences relating to the perception of linear time. Under this definition the Mandela Effect would be seen as a ''Temporal Phenomena''.
The theory I'm going to lay out before you requires these definitions to be cleared up and properly defined, for my theory directly relates to the theory and praxis of the alternates. I believe that the alternates are attempting to make humanity remember a different history, an alternate (badumtss) history which is not our own. However, what is history if you don't perceive time in a linear sense? If the alternates don't perceive time linearly or experience it temporally, then maybe history to them includes the present and future. If humanity begins to believe the alternate history which Gabriel and his flock are attempting to make us believe, then alternates will have total power over our world, I will explain why this is the case in the evidence section.
Evidence:
1A - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0EpOiu8YkI 1B - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1bYOi7lHJU 1C - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCl-M_l-Kv0
1A Evidence: Overthrone is essential to understanding what is going on within the Mandela Catalogue universe. We see here that a False Gabriel is taking the place of the biblical angel Gabriel in order to preaching a sort of prophecy or foretelling of what he will do, he will ''Fool the Shepherds'' he will ''Know their greatest fear'' before saying later to the shepherds ''I am your true saviour, I know everything about what makes you human. I know what you love. I know what you dread.'' and ultimately turning into the spooky Gabriel for lack of a better term. At the very end (Which I will not analyse fully for I don't believe the rest has much relevance to my theory) Gabriel says ''I deceived them, such weak minds''. So we know that there are shepherds (which seems to be distinct from THE Shepard) which may be followers or rather now former followers of the Shepard. We also see that he foretold his act of deceiving them to Joseph, perhaps to break Joseph down mentally before telling him to ''Wake Up'' which I will get into later.
1A Speculation: I think it would be a grave error to see Overthrone and all the subsequent alternate bible stories shown in the Mandela Catalogue as actual historical account in universe. What I mean by this is that the alternates are simply editing the cartoon to reflect what they want people to believe ergo Gabriel did not actually interact with these Biblical figures, the events shown in the cartoon did not actually happen (at least literally). I say this partially using an argument from silence admittedly, seeing as though we have no evidence that the events within the cartoons actually happened in universe but seeing as how alternates constantly corrupt videos to suit their needs I don't think this is a far out conclusion. However, I think there is ample evidence for this in 1B.
1B Evidence: The first upload of Alex's new and disturbing channel. I'm going to be a little cheeky here and include the whole channel in my analysis of 1B. Now we found out about this channel from the link shown on the tv when the news report was intercepted by the alternates. This may mean that the channel is in universe. The channels name is ''GENESIS APOCRYPHON'' which is incredibly groundbreaking in how we view the series and supports my speculation above. The Genesis Apocryphon is a real thing, it is one of the original seven dead sea scrolls and (According to Wikipedia :P) the Genesis Apocryphon lies within the "rewritten bible" category and is a retelling of the stories of the patriarchs. An Alternate Genesis. I believe this more than supports my speculation of 1A.From the banner of the channel we see Dave Lee's store with one of the signs saying ''Trade in your VHS'' and taking into account volume 4 we know that Dave Lee is in possession of a lot of the tapes we have seen previously on the main channel, if not all. Another thing to note is the @ for the Genesis Apocryphon channel, @ allocateundamage as if this channel may be perhaps allocating the undamaged tapes or tapes that are being repaired. Conveniently this segways us into the 1B video, it is the same video seen in overthrone but without the crazy alternate stuff going on. The most odd part of it is all the dialogue of Gabriel being cut out around half way through and the ending slowly going black and white. This is a damaged tape or a tape that was damaged being repaired, for example it may be an attempt at repairing the overthrone tape.
1B Speculation: I think that what we are seeing are David Lee's attempts at repairing the biblical cartoon tapes corrupted by the alternates and his collection of other damaged tapes. As we know from the end of Volume 4, these tapes are incredibly important to Gabriel for he said ''We have their prayers and their records''. I believe these records are the tapes of the corrupted bible cartoon tapes, this must have been why David Lee was an important target, if they lose those tapes then they lose their false account of history which they are trying to convince humanity of. However, David is already dead and this channel can be assumed to be in universe, so who's uploading these leftover tapes? Perhaps it's Thatcher, maybe he's copped on to what the alternates are trying to do.
1C Evidence: This video is most interesting, as it is a part of the biblical narrative that we've never seen before on the main channel; The Resurrection of Christ. The video starts off in the same relative normality established in the video prior but slowly goes on to reveal the usual dark elements that we see in the other corrupted Bible Cartoon tapes. It appears as though the longer the video goes on the worse it gets, as if there's parts which haven't been repaired yet. Ending with Gabriel in the tomb of Christ speaking to perhaps Mary Magdalene. Beyond that, there's not much hard evidence to be divulged in the case of my theory but there's a lot to speculate on.
1C Speculation: It appears as though all of these bible tapes may be representative or symbolic of what's presently going on in Mandela and the surrounding counties. With Mary Magdalene being a stand in for Evelin just how Adam and Eve seemed to be a stand in for Adam and Evelin in volume 4. Which could indicate that the alternates are trying to tell the story of what's going on currently in the Mandela Catalogue in order to have tangible events attached to the false history which they will preach to the world. Thus the present becomes the past and becomes the gospel.
2A - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUrCO_x3VHk&t=48s 2B - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8d12w6pMos&t=104s
2A/B Evidence: I should first note that I will not be analysing the M.A.D section of the video, I will instead analyse the standalone M.A.D video in another post about this theory maybe, nor will I be analysing the Toddler Stress Assessment section for I feel it holds no relevance to my theory. This video is the remake or restored edition of Volume 1, you will find out why I put this version of Volume 1 and the original Volume 1 as separate evidence entries in the speculation following. However, what I wish for you to notice now is the differences between the original and the restored version. Notice how many of the glitches, odd messages such as ''Kill yourself, there's not enough room for the two of us'' and the lack of the faceless alternate.
2A/B Speculation: This is not mere remastering of old videos on the part of Alex, the restored version is the version which has had all editing and falsities from the alternates removed. As much the same with Genesis Apocryphon, we are seeing the fruits of David and Thatcher's labour to restore the tapes and show the real history of what has been going on in Mandela county. We can assume that the alternates are not only using this as a form of rewriting history but also to implant themselves into the mind of the viewer as with Stanley.
In summary: The alternate history we see with the bible cartoons is not accurate history in universe, it is in fact a fake history being made up by the alternates perhaps to cement themselves in our collective psyche. It seems that David caught on to this which is why Gabriel had to get rid of him. Thatcher may soon discover this if he somehow gets a hold of David's tapes. The retold bible stories are representative of events that have been going on in Mandela county since the arrival of the alternates and these events may be an attempt to create a new gospel of sorts. They are targeting children specifically with this fake history since they will be more likely to forget the true history of the world, true history then becomes subject to the Mandela effect.
That's all I can muster to think of right now but I will consider making a part two to this theory as I think there is still a bunch more evidence to sift through. This post was more a proof of concept than anything.

2024.05.20 20:34 True_Slip9879 Transcript of audio 05/18/2024 Warming Shelter Proposal Public Meeting.

I want to introduce you to several of our board members that are here. So if you guys work your way up front. So Deacon Mark Lagreeve works at St. Francis as Deacon and is on the board of the Haven and was the founder of the Haven. So he has a little bit of an experience with this. Janky is current director of the Hope House and has a long history in Manitowoc, serving on common council at one time, business owner, and again, brings a lot of experience to what's needed here. So welcome. Brittany Punches is a teacher in town. She recently completed her master of social work degree, is a parent, and has been a Starworth volunteer at the shelter for the last two seasons, where she actually did part of her. Did they call them clinicals? Is that the right word, clinicals?
For her master of social work degree there. And so we're happy to have her joining the board. And then we also have Michael Etheridge, the director of the haven. He can't be here today, but is also on the board. And Amy Sonoman, who is the president of the board of Hope House and works at United one credit union. So these are the six and myself, six people from those three agencies that have initially created the board of the neighborhood. Now, we have a lot of work. Like, we don't even really have bylaws yet, but you know that we fill out the paperwork, but we have that. And then, of course, that will expand. But that's the core group.
And again, that's a sign of seeing that these main agencies that are addressing homelessness in our community are working together to make this a positive experience for the whole community. So at this moment, I want to say thank you to all of you for coming out. I don't know what motivated you to come out today. It might have been because you think this is the greatest thing that could ever happen. It could be that you've been a constant volunteer and supporter. It may have been because you have certain questions, but I'm glad that you're here because if we don't come together as a community, if we don't share our questions, we don't raise these things, we can never move. We can never move forward as a community.
So even if you have concerns or questions, that's what we want to make sure this is a community project and that we're able to address those concerns. So I'm going to open it up. If any of the three of you want to say anything, just something really short.
The reason we're doing this is, you know, there's market forces with the rental market, vacation rental properties, people buying second homes. A lot of snowbirds buying property here because they want to win. They want a winter here or summer here. So those are market forces. There are a lot of the new properties, condos that are being built. They're being bought by people that are wintering and have moved away to Florida and now are buying properties here to spend their summers here. So that's where some. Some of these things are happening and these are the market forces. So that's beyond our control. You know, landlords are. We love them. They serve a purpose in our community. But there's limited supply of properties, so the prices are going through the roof. I know of $800. What were $800?
Apartments that are now $1400, apartments that just changed last month, $500 or $600. So that's beyond our control. So we, as nonprofits, we have to do something of response much beyond our control. And that's to figure out how can we get into becoming landlords. How can we end up buying properties, converting them, and serving an unmet need of, you know, the people, the working class, the people that are trying to work through and find their way to home ownership or to find their way to restore their records. They need a starting place. And without us doing this, they don't have a starting place. And these are our community members. These are our family members. There are people that. That we love, that we want to care for. So that's why. What's the motivation to doing this?
And there are some generous donors in the community that see it, and they're asking, how are we going to resolve this? And they've been really asking, how do we collaborate and how do we do something to respond? And it's not just a Manitowoc issue, it's a national issue. So this is just what we're doing. Starting to do here at Manitowoc. 25 apartments here is going to make a little dent. The number of affordable apartments we determine are needed in the community is 150. There's 150. There's a lack of 150 apartments in this community. And that's what's driving supply and demand. That's what's driving up the prices of apartments. I lost my train of thought. There was something else I was going to say about. It'll come back to me. Jan, do you want to say anything?
Okay.
While you're thinking at Hope House, our priority has always been the family. So we have concentrated on, you know, single parents, couples with children, and we've not been able to really help the single female and the couples without children. So this gives us an opportunity to expand our facility that we currently have to help the single and the couple, along with our families, of course, and move them out of our current 90 day program into transitional housing, because those two groups really need help. It will not necessarily be big enough for our families, because our average family is, what, five, six people, which, you know, could be a single mom and five kids. Single mom, four kids, a couple. And these apartments may not be big enough for them. So that will help them through other means.
But we need to get the single female and the couples off the street, and this will help.
Waiting list. That's what they came up. So, Janine, what's the waiting list at the haven now? 100, 150, probably pretty close.
Single men.
Just single men. 100, 150 men get into the haven, and we can't accept them. We have to say, sorry, we gotta wait till someone moves out, but they don't have a place to move out to. What's the waiting list saying? Hope house.
It's over 100, and it's mostly single female and couples because we prioritize the family first.
So it's so hard saying no to these people. We just can't. It breaks our hearts. We have to do something, and this is the something.
So the neighborhood will put a dent in that. And obviously, it's not going to solve everything, but we start somewhere. Brittany, do you want to add anything?
I think it's just really important to press that this is a step in that transition and that it's going to move that process along. When we get our friends off the street, our guests, our neighbors that are those members of our community that, like pastor said, are exactly like us. We have had friends that have had months saved. They have an operation, and they get sick. We have had city bus drivers, we have had teachers. We have had individuals from every walks of life that something happened, and whatever it was their fault or not, oftentimes not. They need just a step up. And this is just one way to help them get back into the community and make our community stronger.
So do we have any questions? I mean, there's probably thousands of questions, but, yeah.
Who's going to do the video tour of the facilities? You've got meetings coming up. You need explanation. Video tour.
Okay, so we need to add to our list to have some folks make some. Some video walkthroughs of the facility. So people who have never seen them. We can get a kind of a look up. This is what the haven looks like. This is what the hope house looks like currently, as well as how this looks and what it can become.
So you mean video tours of Hope House, the haven and this building?
Yeah.
Okay. Yeah, I know that there's a property listing for this that has pictures of it. We have figured out how to share that so we can share that. I know there's a property listing for it that has pictures, but yes, a video would be a great idea to share them before. Pictures.
Yeah, share the pictures and then share the vision.
This is what it is, but this.
Is what it could be.
CONT. RECORDING TRANSCRIPT:
I want to know what you're going to do. They have no place to go during the day. I don't want them sitting on my mom's porch. I don't, you know, I know. Worked at places where I work at a convenience store where we've had them hang out at a convenience store. And I know a couple that, hey, they went and got a home and, you know, in another city, and they came back and what they wanted to do was be at that convenience store. So what plans you guys have for the neighborhood to keep everybody safe for the ones that not live here, but the warm.
Thank you. That's a great question. I'm sure a lot of people share that concern as well. So the first way I'll answer that is that. Oh, I'm. Thank you. Just what. Can you repeat the question? We had a hard time period. Yes, that's what. Yeah, that's what I was about to do. So the question was, is, what can we do to help those leaving the shelter each morning, to not just congregate on people's porches and such around the neighborhood, right around here? Is that a fair? Okay, so I'll answer that two ways. The first way is that, you know, the current warming shelter is less than half a mile from here, so it's already in this neighborhood. And so we have not had. Any of the neighbors have had concerns about that.
Most of the guests, when they leave, typically, at least at any given time, I'd say a quarter of the guests are working. So they're going to work. Some of them, of course, work a different shift. But one of the other gaps we have is what do they do during the day? I mean, a lot are at the library and stuff. We have found our guests to be respectful and kind and are. And if we ask them, you know, this, we have never had a problem with them hanging out at private property. And I think if we. That's one of the rules, if you will. We have rules at the shelter. There's conditions and, you know, and just simply to let them know that private property is private property. I, you know that.
I think you use the phrase what can we do to guarantee or insure we can't? Just like we don't now.
Well, you had mentioned earlier about being.
In, you know.
That'S what this area is. How do you keep them out of the alley? How do you keep them out of people's garages, as you had mentioned?
I'd say typically they're not. I mean, the guests at the shelter are not those people. It's the people who can't find room at the shelter, but that's just overnight.
So you kick them out in the morning, to put it one. So from morning to night, where are they going? Where are they going?
They're going to the library. I know the Salvation army two days a week has. They're walking to Walmart, they're walking out to Lowe's. I mean, they're getting on the bus. The location of being a few more blocks away from certain things is not going to impede them at all. I say Salvation army twice a week is offering lunch, which expanded beyond. I mean, it's not just like a half hour thing to hang out on Sundays. We had ascend services has opened up one of their facilities during the day. So I think that they'll be respectful of private property like they have been. I mean, we haven't had, crime rates have not increased around the shelter and things. So I think the guests will go. So typically they're not staying. They're not staying around the shelter.
I have a question.
Yeah, I want to. I just want to.
Well, I've been holding my hand for quite a while. You said that these people in the program in the apartments are background checked. What about the people that are overnight? Are they background checked? Do you know where they come from.
As a low barrier shelter, as we've run that the last two seasons? No, though they do not have background checks on them. We do have a policy that works with law enforcement that if there is a. I can't remember the law enforcement phrases, but if they have, we can have a relationship where they can come in. And if there is, if they are looking for somebody and have reasonable cause, is that the right phrase? Plausible cause that they're welcome to.
So they could have a record for all, you know.
Sure. Just like everybody else here who has a record here? I do.
I don't. Also, you had said that you have a very generous donor for the first year of expenses. What about the following years? Is that going to ever be passed on to the taxpayer?
No, this is not a city project. And so we have. No.
What about maintenance?
So one of our goals is that when we will fundraise for what high level expense? About 8 million. Okay. And then we want to add into that automatically another million that will create an endowment at the Lakeshore foundation so that there will be just generated money to help do maintenance. But also there will be. There will be funding generated by the rental of the apartments that will work. And then as any nonprofit, there will be additional, you know, community fundraisers. But this is not a county or a city project. So there's. This isn't a tax thing.
Well, what about extra police force that we pay for that.
So you would have to ask law enforcement. But at this point, they haven't added any extra law enforcement. You have something to add to that?
At the shelter, were open two seasons, 150 days each total of 300 days. I was there 294 of them. So I can. That's my background. When we called 911, were calling for rescue squad. We were calling because someone was having a stroke. We were calling because someone was having an apparent heart attack. We weren't calling because we had an illegal situation. Now, we have been told that we have saved the life of the person who was having a stroke, that had he been sleeping in his car or worse, he would have passed away. Obviously, these medical incidents would take place whether they were in the shelter under the watchful eye of volunteers, or out in the public.
Yeah, but you're comparing apples to oranges. You've never had a building this size in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and you've never had any trouble at all?
Let's have everyone have a chance. I want to go back to you because you had your hand up.
Check that out with the police.
I was just wondering if the vision could include some kind of cottage industry that. For training, for maybe helping those people that haven't worked in a while. I don't know if there's any programs like that, but that might also help generate some income and good teaching, still something to do during the day that maybe some of them would be a good fit for. And I also wanted to say that I had a family member before the warming shelter downtown who almost froze to death on a night when it was below zero. And yes, they were a drug addict.
But they told me when they were in recovery, they asked me to take them to the lutheran church on Meadow Lane, and they wanted to specifically talk to the assistant pastor because they knocked on his door and he gave them a voucher for a motel for two nights, or they could have possibly frozen to death. She was so grateful. So I just want to put that out there that if it hits home.
For you.
I appreciate your idea, and we'll certainly have that.
So this question probably goes beyond only the neighborhood, but at the concern is this program going to stay within the people that live in this town, or are we going to be welcoming people with Chabot, Green Bay, and all that? That would be an issue because, you know, sometimes the id doesn't match something from Manitowoc. They don't know the streets and things like that. So is there any chance that you guys are going to just take before all the managewalk people that we already know?
We would like to have a Manitowoc county first. Is that the right way to say it, Jan?
Yeah. We always take Manitowoc county residents first. That's the priority.
And also with the warming shelter, that's why we don't want to have more beds than we see the current need for this community.
Well, yeah, but at the end, if they're already here from Sheboygan, they took the right and all that, and they're already here. All the issues that they already mentioned, if they're gonna happen, they're gonna tend in this area or in the alley, walk around, you know, so I don't see. We don't see so much of that.
Issue of being homeless.
So is this gonna trigger something that is gonna make more people from other states?
You know, again, you know, there's certain things which, you know, I don't have a crystal ball, but. But again, though, the last two seasons of having a warming shelter have not created that. And the ten years at the Haven and the 20 years have not. Have not statistically shown that people are intentionally saying, I now need to use the last of my financial resources to travel to Manitowoc, particularly during the winter. So I want to let Brittany had a.
So I really want to mention that part because, like, not only have we seen from historically that it doesn't. It hasn't increased in any of the programs we currently have that open my.
Brain, I was like, oh, I was ready.
Was that.
Okay? Yeah. Yeah. Describe the security plans you have for the warming, Shelley, as to what types.
Of people are.
And how they go about doing that. Okay. I can talk a little bit about what it is now, knowing that isn't the same as what it will be here. And between now and 18 months, we haven't, you know, as far as, like, well, what does that mean with. With lighting and with camera systems? I can't. I can't answer all those questions about this. Personnel, currently. Personnel has been, has all, is currently, is all volunteer with training, and that includes involvement with law enforcement. They serve on the steering committee for the warming shelter and things. So that's how it's currently being staffed.
Pastor.
The main thing I did was I was officially the line monitor. It fell to me to count off the twelve people who were going to be allowed in. When I would walk up to number 13 or number 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, the fear in their eyes was so intense, I often had to turn away. I'm not an overly emotional person, but when I look at someone who has now got to figure out what piece of pavement they're going to sleep on, it rips me apart. Now, what does that mean for the security of the people who are staying in the shelter? The people staying in the shelter. Pay attention when we go over the guidelines, which we do every time there's a new person, or any time on a frequent basis, not every single day, because we have repeat guests.
They all know and they understand that because there is this pressure of these up to eight people out here, they mess up or they go against the guidelines, they could be asked to leave so that someone else would come in. This fear combined with the safety of a warm, safe, clean environment with a hot meal and people who care, keep the guests in a very comfortable, easy to talk to manner. Out of the twelve that come in at a night.
It'S already happening.
It's happening now with everything over twelve.
One voice at a time. Folks, this is a community.
You're bringing it into our neighborhood. We're asking what you're going to do to help protect our neighborhood.
By increasing our capacity to twelve beyond the eight that, up to eight that we know we shouldn't have that. I suspect that if there are homeless in this area, and I believe there are, they're already in places that you don't even know about because they've adapted to their environment. What we're doing is we're pulling them off the street. In the twelve most vulnerable times of the day. From the shelter, there is a migration. South. Library, painting pathways.
YMca.
YMca.
Grow it forward.
Grow it forward. There's all these places that they're headed towards. They have no interest in going away or north in this case, because there aren't resources up there. There's not meals, there's not warm, safe places for them.
Okay, we'll go back. And they have created a community themselves and they hang together.
And so they don't, they're not going.
To the peace by themselves.
They hang together.
They have created a community where they.
Are safe in their numbers with each other and they look out for each other. So I just can't imagine that they would branch out, that they are going to stay, as Ken said, they're going.
To go where their opportunities are to be together.
Well, that's what we're here today for, and that's what history stands for. We didn't see no flyers or anything.
Nothing.
And that's on you now. I would take it even a step farther. Something in this bank should be a referendum.
We have election six months coming.
Off. Yeah, I mean I can appreciate that sentiment, but this isn't, this isn't a city funded thing and therefore it's a dictatorship. Well, we haven't purchased the building. I told you what the conditions for purchase are. Yeah, I believe Mister Cummings. Well, and this, you may not live here, literally right here that the shelter is Mike Cummings. And I believe over there is. Yes. You always said about security and everything and getting people back to work. I know you guys have a shelter down the history every time, because I live here, every time I pass a quick tripod, there's always two or one squad car outside. There's always fights in there all the time. Okay, I hear that. I appreciate that.
Absolutely.
A sweat equity is something that may happen. Absolutely. And they take advantage of many opportunities like that now. So I'm not going to tell you something that we have a plan worked out where they will do all necessary maintenance and janitorial thing. Because what I hear is similar to another one about how can, you know, what are some ways that we can help both teach them or give them some skills that they may take advantage of the incredible skills that they already. So, yeah, I mean, I think that certainly is part of our long term, you know, discussion on how we can do that. I use the term sweat equity. You know, that they're putting something into those resources.
Not a question, statement. The reason you had mentioned, first of all, that neighborhoods or neighbors may be concerned about their taxes, property, you know, their values going down, their property they will go down. I mean if you cross Washington to where all of your very wonderful programs are, the taxes or the property values are lower than they are in this neighborhood? It's just a fact. Just a fact.
Couldn't that because the houses on the south side are older?
No, no.
Are you saying that the property taxes.
No, I'm talking about value tax or property values. Yeah. I'm a realtor. I know that this. This side of the city is. I'm not talking about the hope house reputation or anything. I'm just stating a fact that the south side's property values are lower than they are here.
Always works.
Okay.
Thank you.
And this is just a question to everybody. Are you guys concerned about putting people from encourage Hope House Haven, all of those places that are separated now because we need security for the men's shelter. You need security for domestic violence, you need security for sexual assault victims, you need security for all of those people. And you have them in all different places due to that and background check them. You do all these kind of things. Programs are great that they're working for. I 100% agree with that. But now you're going to put them all in one area, in one apartment complex. So that is my thought about this. Or concern about. About that.
Sure. Can they trigger each other or something.
Coming in and those people haven't been bedded and there, I understand locks and everything, but if they both walk out the same door, they're in the same area. Is that a concern? Because if you have somebody in the warming shelter who isn't supposed to have contact with somebody here who says they're not becoming a nice.
There's a lot of things to work out as we work it out.
Yeah.
Big thing is how do we secure, make it secure and safe for people? Because we're helping people transition to safety as they move out into society. So, yeah. So do we have the answer yet? No, but we know we need to. We know we need to. But, yeah, we're just starting. We started talking a couple months ago when this all started coming together. So we're in the process of getting there. We have 18 months to figure it out.
And you know, too, then the safety of the building and everybody in it, and then the safety of all the neighborhood and everybody around it as well. Because if there's going to be issues with that community and there's going to be issues around the neighborhood community as well, if you're bringing, you know what I'm saying? If there's nothing that conflict, that's just.
I like, I learned what to answer a question with a question. Who's controlling who's living in all the.
Rental apartments in this neighborhood?
No. Who's controlling who's living in the neighborhoods in this community? Who's making sure they're all safe in these rentals in this community?
Police.
Who's making sure that?
Police. Our local police. No, landlords don't do ___. They don't have to do ___.
Stop. Police.
Well, hi.
Are we on opposite sides on this?
Actually, yeah. And I don't even live here. I live in two rivers.
It's gonna be a __ show.
Making advancements 150. And I don't see that 150 number getting smaller as the real estate market.
Remember that they're coming to where they are under total programs, where they're under rules.
I mean, I get that.
And that's not going to change when they come here from the news.
Doesn't mean that they always follow the rules of the program.
I work every day.
And so if they don't, you know, if they don't follow the rules, they're out. And we answer people when they don't, you know, find child care for their children. And, you know, so all these things are totally case management at home.
It would come. It would come through the agency that they entered.
Okay, so it wouldn't be here directly. It would be from. If they're at the case management.
Correct.
So it's not here.
They're having case management not through here, but it may physically happen. Yeah. I would just say the mix of people. The nice thing is that because they are in a program and we know something, they'll be able to determine that this person may not be in the right. We'll know more about them than other apartments and or just home buyers and home rental things. So we try to address some of that, and some people just are tension built with other people around. And some of that we may know. So clearly, if we work with encourage, there's not going to be the person seeking services there, and the person who helped make them go into service are going to be the same.
Transitional housing. Some people, you know, as we've said before, some people might need 120 days of, you know, being in home, and they may never be ready for transitional living. So we have to help them through the rest of the process. So the people that will be here are those that are ready to learn, be on their own, and then get out to be independent members of the.
I live in the neighborhood. Okay. The most important, the important thing about each one of you and me and anybody who might be here is their intrinsic value as a human being. But each human being has an intrinsic value because they're human. So we don't have to trust everyone, right? Maybe not everybody deserves our trust, but everybody deserves respect. And when we don't have compassion, that's looking at us. So I understand, and I bet you they have really smart people working on.
All of it, and they're going to.
Want input so that everybody sees public.
Insurance.
That we are truly responding as a human being, compassion for one another, because as we're compassionate, it's going to grow. A compassionate community. That's right. Now, you have two important meetings coming up, right.
The city.
The first one's Wednesday evening, 06:00 p.m.?
Right? Yes. That's what the public hearing with the site or the plan commission. And then June 17, we would love to have people come and to share your thoughts, your values. I mean, the same types of things that were shared today.
Thank you.
Okay.
Your thought is also that with this transitional housing, those people, there will be.
Someone here that will be case managing.
24/7 not necessarily living.
There will be someone here, like at the warming shelter.
There will be somebody here.
Whenever the warming shows shelters open and the traditional housing, they'll be case managers, checking in daily or weekly or however.
Far along they are.
Yeah.
On their own, running around, doing whatever. They will be under an umbrella of monitor.
They can do whatever they want. Right. They're adults. They can leave.
Yeah.
Go and do whatever they want. So that doesn't stop people from doing. Right. Just like any homeowner, any apartment, any.
Apartment.
We have more control over that. So if they live here and they do something wrong, and he says, you're out. So if they put them on the street, where do they go? Do they go to the warming shelter? Do they stay in our neighborhood? That's our concern. They're going to where they go without it right now, which is, unfortunately where they are right now. All across the community, usually more out in the rural areas under the 21st.
Street Cathay.
Down from the cemetery where they have it should have come out Thursday.
So on Thursdays. Well, should have been. I'm saying should have been. So the plan commission meeting is next Wednesday, and with every plan commission meeting, there's a community mailing within some radius of the area. So the city should have mailed this out already. So if you don't have it, you should be getting it soon. If you have it, contact the plan commission and say, why do I. Why haven't I received the mail and.
I couldn't tell you what that radius is.
So we wanted to. We wanted to have this gathering before you receive the mailing.
And if you. Yeah. And remember, if you don't own your house, unfortunately, you don't get a mailing.
The property owner.
Property owner does. So I mean, that, again, that's. That's it. That's a city thing. So if you're a renter, you may. Your. Your landlord may not share that with you.
Okay, one.
One more that I want to be respectful of our hour.
We've had homeless for longer than we can ever imagine. I had taken a course at Green Bay, and I said, well, we don't have that many. She said, they're coming to us. We have no place.
Thank you for bringing this to fruition. We never thought about it two seasons ago.
Thank you, pastor, so much.
Okay, so I want to be respectful of our hour together. So, again, thank you all for coming. Continued dialogue, it makes us a healthier community, so thank you.
I guess so.

This past week in Disclosure:

May 13 – Karl Nell is revealed as David Grusch's replacement speaker at the NYC Salt Conference
Karl Nell's presentation – “The Real Black Swan Event: The Controlled Disclosure of UAP and Non-Human Intelligence" – will take place at 5PM on the 21st of May 2024.
Nell is a retired Army Colonel who worked with Grusch on the UAP Task Force, and was quoted in Leslie Kean’s The Debrief article that broke the original David Grusch story:
“[Grusch’s] assertion concerning the existence of a terrestrial arms race occurring sub-rosa over the past eighty years focused on reverse engineering technologies of unknown origin is fundamentally correct, as is the indisputable realization that at least some of these technologies of unknown origin derive from non-human intelligence.”
May 15 – US Representatives urge Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to explain aerial incursions into U.S. military bases
Rep. Keith Self took to X to indicate a co-led letter had been submitted to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, urging him to provide more information related to the (seemingly) ongoing issue of aerial incursions over sensitive military installations.
The group of Representatives involved consists of: Reps. Self, Moskowitz, Ogles, Crenshaw, Norman, Finstad and Rosendale, Sr.
May 16 – Lue Elizondo highlights Pentagon inconsistencies and suggests his (and other whistleblowers') safety may be under threat
Lue Elizondo, former director of the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), appeared on Matt Ford's podcast to reveal inconsistencies in the Pentagon's handling of information regarding AATIP.
Initially, the Pentagon confirmed his role and the program's focus but later claimed all related emails were deleted. However, when an email describing the authorized transfer of AATIP leadership surfaced on Reddit, the Pentagon admitted its existence but redacted AATIP mentions, citing FOIA exemptions.
Elizondo highlighted the Pentagon's pattern of misinformation and mentioned potential personal threats against him and other whistleblowers, stressing his non-suicidal and non-accidental status.
May 16 – Rep. Burchett introduces a new UAP transparency-related bill
Rep. Burchett introduced a new bill that would require President Biden to direct the heads of each federal department or agency to declassify all documents related to UAPs, within 270 days of the bill passing.
While the intentions of the bill are seemingly positive from a transparency perspective, the 1.5 pages of legislation fall short in terms of really moving the needle. Unlike previously proposed legislation such as the UAPDA, Rep. Burchett's bill lacks detail (e.g. a concrete set of relevant definitions and justifications).
May 19 – Sen. Gillibrand faces questions on the UAP/NHI topic during a segment on CBS
Senator Gillibrand reiterated the importance of seriously investigating the UAP issue during a segment on CBS.
Responding to the question of "do you think there really are aliens and UFOs?", Sen. Gillibrand responds diplomatically:
"I definitely don't know, and I think it's important to have full awareness of what's in our skies. We haven't been looking. And we need to look, and we need to be aware."

2024.05.20 19:53 disclosurediaries All the relevant UAP updates from May 13-19

GME: Summary of Events and What is Coming
Hello! Just wanted to catch others up to speed (not that the majority do NOT know here) and have this post serve as a reference down the road. I'm going to make this relatively short and sweet with links/references. This is just grazing the surface as many of these points have been expanded upon by others over the months/years. Also I think this is my first Teddy post!
Disclaimer: These are my opinions. I am not telling you to do anything.

Recent Stock Volatility

There were likely multiple reasons for recent price action:
  • GameStop's stock went from $10 to $80 without any material company news.
  • The company just purchased about 1.2M shares ~$30 under the 10b safe harbor rule.
  • Credit Suisse accounts were closed. Typically when big news happens with CS this tends to correlate with GME price moves, likely due to swaps.
  • Keith Gill / DFV / Roaring Kitty comes out at the perfect moment around the $20 mark. This was a point of technical breakout. See bottom bullet.
  • Volume started increasing when GME posted the Global Controller position on 4/24/24. Perhaps that was the spark vs. another cause as listed here.
  • Despite a low-ish number of FTDs reported for their 3/26/24 earnings, my assumption is that there were more than reported given that volatility markedly increased around C35 from earnings day.
  • The borrow fee has been rising since the 3/26/24 earnings and typically precludes volatility for GME.
https://preview.redd.it/4ofirmbeil1d1.png?width=251&format=png&auto=webp&s=23e40d14c2b752d5414c2a02c831577279f905a3
  • This also was something of a technical breakout given the stock price started squeezing above what was the upper channel line from the fall/winter 2020. That channel has been respected for quite a while. Additionally, there was the breakout from the Dorito which is not shown here (Dorito man can fuck off btw).
https://preview.redd.it/95lzjnz5fl1d1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ce5135d7699accab22c6b1b9ae212ad6e62bd51
  • CAT implementation timing was likely important as well: 5/13/24 testing, 5/24/24 resolution of inconsistencies, 5/31/24 full compliance. Perhaps Keith Gill was aware of this timing as well.
  • One of the few reasons I have picked up on this timeframe is that I have been following this MACD trend for 1.5 years. That indicates IMO that this has been planned. I defer the reader to the Teddy book ⏰ tinfoil.

Teddy Tinfoil

I would say Keith eats tinfoil for breakfast. There are quite a few possible references to Teddy / BBBY in Keith Gill's tweets. Chime in if I missed anything:
  • Kansas City shuffle (empty blue chairs / empty seats as shareholders)
  • 'Bee' my victim (honeypot page from Teddy books) guy is stalking a bear. As if BBBY was the bear trap.
  • "They found a loophole... As stupid as they look they're actually good at paperwork." (blue team)
  • Brief video of RC wearing butterfly wings on a runway (during 'can I ask you a blunt question - do you love him?' movie scene)
  • Broad City references
  • Hit me baby one more time
  • The baby image on matchbook (not shown in tweet but that's what happens in movie - guy blows up the car with the matches)
  • A few red/blue references along the way, like the matrix.
  • Teddy bear in a chair with cat behind it
  • PPshow song was used

My Opinion on How This Is Going To Play Out

Company has now pre-released earnings financials and submitted a 45,000,000 share ATM offering and S3. I defer the reader to other posts discussing the S3 as it is complex. The important part of this is that at this point in time, anyone short the stock (directly, indirectly, etc.) is at considerable risk now and in the long term. Because of this:
FIRST: There will be a short squeeze and GameStop will raise several billion dollars using their ATM offering.
NEXT: The company will acquire one or several businesses for their Net Operating Losses (NOLs), legacy shorts, logistics, patents, and shareholders. I anticipate this in the fall/winter of 2024.
THEN: I defer the reader to the many posts about reverse triangle mergers / depository trust unit dividends (possibly involving Teddy Bank). Other people would be able to better describe this than me.

What Price Action Will Happen?

I expect a short squeeze within the next 2 months. Astrologists predict the price could reach several hundred to several thousand dollars per share, possibly following Fibonacci levels, possibly going to the whole round numbers of 69, 420, 741, and beyond. I anticipate the price will remain high to prevent further speculative investing after this.
  • Shorts are likely to exit their positions before any potential dividend or corporate action is announced. Hedge funds, market makers, and brokers who are short or who hold swaps and other strategies involving naked shorts must decide to close now or face significant costs later. If they do NOT move now it could potentially lead to either their downfall or prolonged financial bleeding. More on this down below
  • You may think you're priced out now - just wait. You'll be even more surprised.
  • This trend has persisted for ~2 years; I don't think it will stop now.
https://preview.redd.it/dvdb9cxool1d1.png?width=1650&format=png&auto=webp&s=4d952f9038666a74556702f8b51f109c26c8626b

Fuckery is Possible

This goes without saying, but I would go into this anticipating the following:
  • PCO of the options chain.
  • I would expect it will undergo a period of time where you'll be unable to trade this, but likely after the company action is announced.
  • Trading halts.
  • Wide bid/ask spreads.
  • MSM and social media influx of making people feel bad for not selling at high prices.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX!? (Why is this happening)

The company has been setting up for M&A for quite a while. Some of this has been foretold (see my profile for posts called Welcome to GMERICA and We're Pregnant - unable to link to SS here) by others (see Edwinbarnesc, and many more).

1: Change to a Holding Company

  • GME withdrew their credit rating long ago. Odd.
  • Recent SEC filings reveal significant strategic shifts. The unusually large 10Q filed on September 6th, with 98 mentions of acquisitions, indicates upcoming corporate actions. The delegation of portfolio management to RC and the modification of the investment policy further underscore this shift. Gamestop's relabeling as a holding company (i.e., like a Berkshire Hathaway).
  • They were relabeled in the OCC (options clearing corp) as a Holding Company. It is not significant IMO as it has likely been a holding company for a while, but is listed here because it's been discussed recently.
  • Speculation about holding company units, which contain shares of several companies and are indivisible, supports this theory. If GameStop acquires these companies, shareholders might receive dividend units.

2: Many other factors

  • Additionally, the resolution of outstanding inconsistencies in the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) by 5/24/24 is crucial.
  • FTDs are likely very high right now because of the higher volume. Once CAT is in full compliance I would expect it would be difficult for market makers to continue with their usual shenanigans.
  • GameStop still has very high short interest, possibly much more than reported, coupled with significant shareholder engagement.
  • There are hundreds of thousands to millions of people reading about, thinking about, talking about this.
  • Swaps have expired. I defer the reader to posts about Credit Suisse and UBS. Typically when major news for this occurs it happens to coincide with GME price action if you've been paying attention over the past few years.
  • Initial margin calculations depend upon month-end price for March, April, and May. We going higher for May, so that means come 9/1/24 the dollar bucks that will be required to maintain the swap position will be higher.

3: Market psychology

  • We know they're fucked. They know they're fucked. They are not going to allow you to plan for this. The movement will be quick and sudden.
  • They are being given an out here to buy shares from a company willing to sell them shares. When way the hell more shares than are available are needed to be purchased at a time they NEED to purchase them for multiple reasons (discussed above). Both those short and long know what is going to happen. The expectation and speculation on that plays a big role. Why do you think GME got to $420.69 last time? People put in sell limit orders there, and other people NEEDED to buy the shares at whatever price...
  • So, they're going to close at what they perceive to be a reasonable price at a loss now, however, they'll likely reopen positions up high. If they do NOT do this they will literally be annihilated once GME turns into a holding co and starts distributing dividends of the trust shares they intend to do.
  • Also realize there is a psychologic end to the story once it does in fact squeeze. They NEED that before the final phase. They need people to believe 'it did it' and 'it's over; not worth speculating on anymore.' So the next phase of all of this is 'aw shit everyone sold it's over.' But it won't be, yet the majority will still not be convinced and doubt will be sowed.
  • They DO NOT want you to be long for the next phase.
In the words of Ross Brown (fucking epic):

Background
Male, Australian/Israeli, 36 Years Old, 5'7, approx 65kg
I've always enjoyed running casually, but these past few months of preparation for a sub-3 hour attempt at the Barcelona Marathon 2024 have been on a different level, so I wanted to sit and write this down.
I did one marathon back in 2015. I hit the wall at about 38km and struggled my way across the line with a 3.35 hour time. It was a miserable experience, and I was glad to tick off the list and looked forward to never doing another marathon again. I wasn't wearing a watch and wasn't aiming for a certain time - I just wanted to get it done. In hindsight, I was underprepared, under motived and under researched, although still achieved a pretty decent time.
I went back to running casually at approx 10km distances. I'm lucky to have my Dad's genes (2.45 hour marathon time), so running came easy to me and I enjoyed it. I never timed myself and just ran by feel.
Fast forward to August 2020 where I broke my patella (kneecap) in a surfing accident - my two ligaments pulled an already fractured bone cleanly in half. I had surgery to put the bones back together where they inserted pins and wires into the kneecap to hold it in place, and I started my 1.5 years of intensive physiotherapy. My leg was stuck straight in a brace for two months and all the muscles in my left leg wasted away until it was about half as skinny as the right leg. I had no range, strength or balance in the leg, and running was a distant dream. 6 months later I had all the pins and wires removed from the knee, and I could finally start running again. I started on an anti-gravity treadmill, then running in water, then on soft sand, before I started hitting the tarmac.
I bought a Garmin watch to ensure I was easing myself back into running in a controlled manner, and now running had a very different philosophy - I was timing everything. After feeling that I was back to my strength, approx 1 year after the accident, I set myself an aim to get below 40min in the 10km, which I hit approx 6 months later - 1.5 years after the injury.
I had hit my 10km under 40 min target, so in my eyes, I was fully recovered. Once I hit this goal, I started increasing my range and running more than 10 km, still pretty casually. I signed up for the Tel Aviv Half Marathon in Feb 2023, and surprised myself by achieving 1 hour 26 mins. It was at this time I briefly crunched the numbers in my head and started thinking about a Marathon. I did some research and found that going sub-3 hour is 'a thing', and something pretty achievable for me with some serious training. Israel gets super hot in the Summer, so I thought I would park the idea until later in the year, and decide closer to November (winter), which would give me enough time to train for the Tel Aviv Marathon at the end of Feb.
On 7-October, my wife and I woke up to air-raid sirens. Here in Israel we're pretty used to these sirens, but this time they came unexpectantly and were a huge surprise - usually they come in a certain context, but these ones came out of nowhere. We went down to our bomb shelter, and tried to understand what was happening. The smell of death was everywhere. My friend had been shot in the initial attack, and my friends and family were getting immediate call ups to the army. The next few weeks are a blur and our lives were put on hold. We spent time volunteering, helping, and doing what we could and I completely forgot about the Marathon. I fell into a dark place - the war was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting, and I had no energy to spend anywhere else.
Throughout October and November I managed to pull myself away from the news and went for a few runs just to get away from it all, although the war followed me. The streets were quiet and eerie. I felt uncomfortable running knowing that someone from the running community was being held hostage in Gaza, and that many of my friends and family were risking their lives during this war. One of my runs was interrupted by more rockets coming from Gaza, and air-raid sirens. I took cover under a shelter in the park and peeked out to see the Iron Dome intercepting some rockets over the skies of Tel Aviv. Then I continued my run.
I realised that maybe training for this marathon would be a good way to spend all the weird energy that I had, and at the beginning of December, I decided to up my mileage. I wasn't yet committed to doing the marathon, but the long runs were great for my mental health. By mid-December, I decided that I would commit to aiming for a sub-3 Hour Marathon at the end of February, and I started my training. I was excited.
Then, the next set-back... in January, the Tel Aviv Marathon got cancelled due to the ongoing war. I was gutted.
My wife suggested that getting out of Israel for a break might be a good idea, and I found that the Barcelona Marathon was scheduled for 10-March, just a few weeks after the cancelled Tel Aviv one - perfect. By the end of January, I was registered for the Barcelona Marathon and deep into the training. I decided that this was an 'all or nothing' run, and that I would try hit sub-3 hour as I wasn't planning on doing another marathon any time soon.
Training
The training was solo, which at times was tough. In hindsight it would have been nice to train with someone. I spent some time on AdvancedRunning and FirstMarathon but honestly, the forums made me pretty anxious as everyone is different.
I researched and landed on the Pfitz 15/55 Training Plan, and adopted a very heavily amended version of it - I was mainly using the plan for an idea of how many weekly kms to aim for. Below is a weekly mileage summary;
Week 1 Total Distance 16.50 km
Week 2 Total Distance 57.41 km
Week 3 Total Distance 57.02 km
Week 4 Total Distance 64.02 km
Week 5 Total Distance 60.30 km
Week 6 Total Distance 71.08 km
Week 7 (Including HM race) Total Distance 78.94 km
Week 8 Total Distance 78.52 km
Week 9 Total Distance 79.01 km
Week 10 Total Distance 92.59 km
Week 11 Total Distance 83.62 km
Week 12 Total Distance 87.29 km
Week 13 Total Distance 54.02 km
Week 14 Total Distance 54.02 km
Week 15 (Race week) Total Distance 74.70 km
As someone who was used to running fast each time I went for a run, the biggest learning curve of this training block was learning how to run slow. But even on these slow runs I would get inpatient and throw in a few kms at Marathon Pace.
I ran approx 5 times a week and did leg strength work once a week in the gym, and some cross training/yoga once a week. My weeks were made up 2 x medium distance / medium paced run, 1 interval run, 1 recovery run and a long distance run (maxing at 37km 2 weeks before the race). I enjoyed variety within each run - eg my long run would be 5-10km warm up, 10-20km marathon pace, 2-5km cool down.
Another huge learning curve was learning how to taper. The two weeks leading up to the race were full of jitters and nerves. I had dropped my mileage from approx 90km down to approx 50km, which felt counter intuitive. I tried to 'trust the process', but I arrived at the starting line feeling pretty rusty, unconfident and out of shape.
At the beginning of the training block I bought the Nike Pegasus 40 for eating the miles, and the Saucony Endorphin Speeds for Tempo. I was planning on buying the VaporFlys for the race, but ended up running in the ES3s.
The race:
The race itself is a bit of a blur, but my training definitely paid off - I'd say that the leg strength work was a HUGE investment, and I found it helping towards the end of the marathon. Don't skip leg day.
I had planned to stick with the 3 Hour pacers, and reassess at 35km to see if I could pull ahead. However the 3 hour pacers set out really strong - it felt like they were holding 4 min km's for the opening few kms. I decided to let them pull ahead, although I kept them in sight and didn't let them get more than 200 meters ahead of me. I caught up and took over them at about the 37km mark.
Hitting the wall at my first marathon a few years earlier was a huge lesson and helped me prepare for the last few kms of this marathon. I knew I had to keep energy in reserves for the last few kms, which I did.
I consumed about 5 gels throughout the race, and took some water at most stops. I also took some electrolytes when they were on offer at the water-stops. They also had oranges and bananas so I grabbed a couple of oranges towards the last few aid stations.
Reflections:
In Judaism we believe in charity. My Dad has a bit of a tradition and a 'trick'. Whenever we travel, my Dad gives us some small change and tells us to give it to charity on our return. His 'trick' is that God would protect us on our trip to ensure that the charity reaches the needy on our return. I don't personally believe in God, but I love this idea, so I ran the marathon with these coins in my pocket to keep me safe (and fast). This helped me remember the deeper 'why' of my run.
The last few kms were emotionally overwhelming. I reflected on the 2 Year journey I had been on since my injury, and I also kept in mind our hostages who are being held in Gaza.
I finished the Marathon in 2:57:16, and crossing the line, I was emotionally and physically full.
Mission accomplished.

Barbie 6'oclock News (pieces missing) advice please?
My stepdad bought an abandoned storage unit and is having me sell the old toys. The Barbie "6'oclock news" set is one of these. It has the box, and instructions but the only pieces remaining are the ones ive digitally highlighted here in yellow. questions to collectors: if u were interested in buying this; would it be as the incomplete set, or seperately as "parts". also what would u guys suggest as a price point (I’m not looking to make a huge fortune. these were free to me and as long as people pay the shipping I’m willing to sell for cheap haha)
