I’ve just left a site where the client needed a new user set up. The new user had already been onsite since the morning and I wasn’t sent out until mid afternoon. They had nothing that they needed. No workstation, no email, no apps.
We received a call this morning requesting help with monitors. None of our SOPs were followed to get this user onboarded.
I really like this client but they are struggling after losing their Ops person and their most seasoned AR person. They are just trying to get through the week.
From my perspective they need someone to inventory their assets, leave them in a state that’s essentially ready to deploy as they bring new users in, and they need training on our SOPs.
The previous OPs person had all of this down and we were implementing a plan to do everything. When they left all of that planning went with them.
They’ve let several people go and they are reacting to things as they come. They are not in financial strain but I absolutely know the owner is lost and relying on someone who really doesn’t know how to do everything that they need done operations wise.
I could spend days onsite but I know my MSP can’t spare the help from the desk for a single client. I’m the only engineer in my region and have other clients (clients who pay and are willing to pay) for a lower level of support at a better price point for us.
What they need feels well beyond what our role is with this organization as an MSP. They could probably use a business consultant… also an IT consultant.
I want to talk with the owner like a human but I feel like in my capacity at my job it might not be a good professional move for me. It feels like a conflict of interest…
I see what’s happening and know that as a large company we are going to come with a hefty bill if we have to sort it all out for them.
It’s just been a tough thing to watch their team struggle and know that as a vendor we can only do so much and as an employee of that vendor that I have to take care of our end and leave it at that.
I do have a good rapport with their former OPs person and they are still connected to the owner but it’s been decided that they should not continue working with the organization due to personal conflict of interest.
I could speak these needs to the owner through this person but I think leadership of my company wouldn’t be thrilled about it.
Any thoughts on how I or we as a company can help out a business owner?

Background- a client hired me for organization of a garage and playroom. The day of the task my dog had a mast cell tumor rupture and we had to put her down. The client was messaging me during this and saying things like "I hope there was an emergency, I'd hate to have to leave you a bad review". I responded as soon as I could and told the client I was sorry, what had happened, etc. He responded "Will you still be able to come right now?" "My whole day was gone unused" to which I said "No, I just lost my dog". I was admittedly frustrated at the situation and his response once I told them there was an emergency situation. He replied and said "Ok see you Monday for sure?" the task was originally scheduled for Friday. I thought about it over the weekend and realized I didn't want to work for someone who was already threatening to leave me a bad review. This was the first time I ever got the feeling that the client was going to be impossible to please. I also checked the weather for Monday and saw the expected temp was 93. I googled this and discovered garages without ac are 10-18 degrees warmer than the outside temperature, so I would be working in a 103-111 degree garage. I decided to trust my intuition about this guy and told him that due to the high temperatures I needed to cancel. I am epileptic and the heat can be a trigger for my seizures. This is the first task I've ever canceled and I felt terrible but ultimately like I did the right thing. I canceled and put safety concern as the reason. I received a call today from an unknown number that I didn't answer. That number then began to text message me. 1st "Hi Miranda. I just saw your message. I still needed the play room organized. If you are able. I would have scheduled someone else as I took day to work from home today thinking you were coming. But totally understand. Let me know if you are able to come tomorrow for garage in morning it’s not bad it’s in high 6and low 70 I don’t think it would take too long." then "Hi checking I if you’d be willing to help I’m open to paying same price as app so you get more". I have no idea how this person got my phone number but I have not replied. I just received a new organization request on TR from the same client. I'm starting to feel like this is borderline harassment and don't know how the client was even able to rebook me after I canceled due to safety concerns. What would you do? Am I overreacting or has this happened to someone else before? I really don't want to take the hit for forfeiting the task after cancelling but I understand the analytics aren't going to change so I'm at a loss. Is it better to forfeit or not respond by 9pm and let the system auto cancel? I've had that happen before and it doesn't seem to significantly affect my performance/ranking. Any advice??

The doctor told me to start with 4 drops. And we've been increasing 2 drops since then.

Hello everyone, I’m in the market to get a vehicle for myself. My current one is getting up there in miles. I Came across a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Sr5 with 45,000 miles on it. I went to check it out and the frame is in good condition( Garage Kept) and the engine sounds great. Things to note: There might have been an issue with the idler pulley as it squeals a bit at first before going away. The vehicle was keyed on the back quarter panel on the right side all the way to half way on the passenger side. The owner wants $15k, I offered $10k initially because according to the NADA the trade-in value for a 2003 4Runner with 45000 miles is 8600$ I Also saw another post with the same make and model in the market with 79000miles on it for 8,800 it had one owner and was garage kept and had new calipers and rubber hoses replaced with a fresh undercoating. It was bumped up to $10K from receiving multiple offers. Which is why I offered what I did. The owner only budged to 14000$ I know the 2003 4Runner has some known issue since it’s the first of the 4th gens, for instance head gasket leak, timing cover leaks, caliper pistons getting stuck. Thanks for y’all’s help. How much would that particular year make and model of that condition really go for and what do you think of a fair price? Thank you

This is my first real purchase of a new vehicle, and so I just wanted to hear others' experience(s) and see if my perspective is way off. Anyway, I decided I would like to get a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE, and only after waiting a short few weeks, I was fortunate enough that there was a vehicle available and in-transit from the manufacturer that matched everything I wanted. I was contacted by the salesperson asking if the PDF of the MSRP which they sent via email was what I was looking for, and I agreed that I'm still interested in purchasing the vehicle. The MSRP is within my budget and I know that I cannot budge on this based on the current market and how in-demand these hybrids are. However, on this phone call, after I agreed that I'm interested in purchasing the vehicle and asked what the next steps would be, they responded (under the guise of "asking preliminary questions") with some questions that I wasn't comfortable asking right then-and-there: 1) how will you be paying for the vehicle? and 2) will you have a trade in? I am sure there was more questions, but I stopped them right there and wanted to meet in person to discuss the final price before letting them know how I will be paying. Is this a typical experience? From my research, I know these questions are typically saved for the financial agent and the salesperson doesn't need to know this information. Their tone (to me), made it seem like this was that it was a "typical" experience in terms of relaying this info to them, however, I am not sure if I'm being hustled or if this is what it's like, given the Toyota is so in-demand.
I know Toyotas (especially hybrids, and especially RAV4 hybrids) are highly in-demand, meaning I will not be negotiating the MSRP price. I think I'd have more (or any) success in negotiating what additional fees would be tacked on from this dealership. I was told I wouldn't have to talk to the financial agent to finalize purchasing until the vehicle is onsite, and these preliminary questions will help them "make the process easier" so when the vehicle arrives, it will be a quick process.
Any thoughts?

I'm looking for a laptop to install Ubuntu on. I do mostly Python coding and light video editing. My video editing amounts to making 10-20 minute coding videos. I do not game ever. 90% of the time, I'd have the laptop docked and hooked up to a 27" 4K monitor. But I do want a somewhat satisfying laptop to travel with. I wouldn't be working when I travel. Mostly, I just want a laptop for times when websites suck on phones and I'm searching for things to do in a new town.
I don't want a budget laptop, but I don't want to overspend for my needs either. A 13" laptop is out of the question. I'm over 50. I can't see those damn things. Also, ThinkPads are not an option. I have one at work and hate it when it is not docked. The control key is in the wrong place. That is a deal breaker.
Right now, I'm considering a Dell XPS 15. There is one for $1,000 that has 16 GB of RAM. Going with the 32GB option adds $700 to the price because of all the other mandatory upgrades with that model. Is there anything in my use case that would justify buying the higher-end model?

I hired a contractor to remove a load bearing wall for me. They had engineering plans drawn up by a structural engineer AFTER we executed the contract. The contract states that the contractor must build to the engineering plans.
The plans include a new concrete footing under the house that is needed to guarantee the structural integrity of the house by bearing the load that has been redistributed to a new post. This new footing was not discussed prior to contract execution, or even prior to the commencement of the project work. It was only "discovered" 2 weeks into the project when we failed our county inspection for not building to the engineering plans. Now the contractor is claiming that this was "unforeseen" and is insisting on writing up a change order to the contract to charge me the cost to install the footing (in addition to the original contract pricing). My stance is that this cost should already be included in the initial contract price, given that the engineering plans clearly state the new footing must be installed, and the contract says they must build to the plans.
If I refuse to agree to the change order + additional cost, the contractor can terminate our contract. If this were to happen, how hard would it be to find a new contractor to finish the remaining work in the project? (install the concrete footing, repair drywall, install hardwood flooring, and paint) Would we need to get an entirely new permit with the county, or could the new contractor perform the work under the existing permit?

I am still pretty new to fishing and I've only freshwater fished. My friend had a ton of fun catching lingcod by Tillamook, Oregon and my family is renting out a place near there for 2 days. Planning to fish off one of the jetties to go for lingcod and rockfish as well (Going for jetties because he refuses to tell me the actual spot). Hi all, as the title states - I am looking for feedback on my pay plan. I've worked at a large new and used Subaru dealer in MA for the past 2 years. Our current pay plan is as follows:
\ 100% commission based with some bonus opportunities from the dealer and manufacturer, no hourly/base pay **

• $200 mini on new/used, or 20% front end profit after they take $1,000 pack off the top (uncapped)
• after you sell and deliver 15 for the month, you get an extra $30 retroactive
• if your survey scores from the new cars (survey sent from manufacturer) scores remain at 95% (any return below 9/10 tears your score down drastically) you get an extra $850 for the month (from my dealership)
• once you have 3 new cars for the month, the manufacturer pays $70 per new car, and if your survey scores are high enough you get an extra $50 per new car (total of $120)
• our BDC department is oddly structured as a management position here rather than an entry level position (everyone in the role was previously a sales person as well). We call it the INT department, basically internet sales. Their department works with customers over email/text/phone calls (not in person) for scheduling test drives, they also follow up on every lead from online traffic (sales people do not have access to any online leads, we can only meet a customer by answering the phone, greeting a fresh customer when they arrive to the dealership, or by referral from a previous customer). However, if BDC collects a deposit on a vehicle and then hands the deal off to a sales person (the sales person is then responsible for getting all paperwork/insurance info/trade appraisal completed, and once the vehicle is registered we then spend about 60 mins going over each and every button and feature in the car with the customer...) I expect to be with a INT handoff customer about 4-5 hours all-in-all in most circumstances - and my commission is capped on every BDC handoff to $200 - even if there was $7,000 profit after they took their $1,000 pack off the top.

Right now, just about every single car leaving the lot is a $200 mini... we are selling new cars below employee pricing, and I don't think I've hit 15 once so far this year - it's been very rough to say the least. We have no receptionist at our dealership, which means that us sales people are responsible for answering/redirecting all incoming phone calls, as well as taking messages for others. We are also responsible for stocking in new vehicles, snow removal, writing online car descriptions (that one is funny to me because it seems like a task more designated for the INT team, but who am I to decide that?), and so many more tasks that most other dealerships have other employees to take care of. I am feeling so much frustration because management has been promising us for more than 6 months that volume is expecting to be ramping up and it hasn't - if anything, it's been steadily slower and yet they have hired two new sales people (14 of us total now). I am only paid for the vehicle I sell and I feel the work here is not matching the compensation. Hell, even when the market was "great" I did not even clear $7,500 for a 5 week month delivering 18 cars.
I absolutely LOVE my coworkers, and I really do look up to my GSM and SM's - they have taught me so much and do so every day, however they aren't paying my bills. If things do not change NOW, I will lose everything my apartment, my car - it's not like I'm not putting in the hours and the hard work. My closing ratio is high and my surveys/reviews are excellent - the traffic is horrifically low, and its like another slap in the face blowing every deal out to a mini on top of it. I feel as though they are expecting sales people to take the hit and ride out the slow market, all while higher-ups are reaping volume bonus incentives.

So, I am brand new here in Canada and I have actually had my car maintenanced in Budget Mufflers in Abbotsford and I am not sure if their prices are deemed to be fair when compared to others. I would like to do a bleeding for my brakes but I am not sure how much should I expect to pay for that. I remember I was told at this shop it will be around 130-160. Also brand new tires each tire is at about $150 for Mazda 3 2006. Are these good prices?
Thing is I have bought this car and apparently It has many problems.. so far paid $1500 for fixing so that's why i am looking for something budget friendly for tires and overall labor work for repair.
Any recommendations?
