2024.05.22 03:11 ssarahh_h FINALLY!!!

FINALLY!!!
I’ve been waiting for the time that a bird chose me. It took forever but the wait was worth it. I got my baby 2 days ago and the minute I saw he him I just knew and so did they. We both experienced love at first site. I’m going to assume for now that she is a girl because of her personality until i get her dna tested. She has been loving on me since the minute I took her home. I expected her to need time in her new environment but the minute I took her out of her travel cage to put her in her actual cage, she clung to me. She plays in my hair, wanted me to preen her already, and calls for me once I leave. I don’t understand how our bond grew so quickly but i can’t complain. I took this video 5 mins after she already crawled in my hand asking for pets. And still as I write this, i’m still petting her. I’m in love!! Also, please give me name suggestions. I am so indecisive I can’t stick to one. I’d prefer unisex names but either way if it fits!

2024.05.22 03:05 Baby_Wolverine Possible suggestions to fix Harvest Beast supplies and mid-tier crafting/itemization

I had no plans on writing a longer post than anything I wrote this whole semester at college, but there's a TLDR if you want at the bottom.
I recognize that largely this is no longer the place to post suggestions, but I figure there's no harm in sparking thoughts in other people. Inspired by what I thought of while replying to the earlier post about memory beasts being obtainable through maps.

Personal Experience recently

I'll preface this with the fact that in all my 5,104.5 hours, I have never once actually attempted to use the Harvest beasts, even though I (for every league except the last and the current) ran my memories and captured the beasts. I'll admit to using them each once or twice, to see how they work as well as test if I could get incredibly lucky, but after comparing the outcome to the cost, I decided it is not worth it for a user of my general wealth.
That's a problem I've encountered a lot more increasingly lately as I've been taking it slower and slower, but especially this league has been bad. While a lot of the early/majorly important stuff have been getting easier to obtain (specifically with the introduction of the Black Morrigan), the more mid through entry late-game stuff has been increasing in price. 9d per attempt at veiled boots, priced out of best in slot farming unless you drop a MB/HH in the first 2-5 attempts, 10.5d for a divination scarab to HOPEFULLY get a full Mageblood/Mirror Shard in under 9 maps. It has never been worth it as a (level 100 most leagues, multiple characters, usually total worth of around of a mirror) somewhat laid back player in my eyes to actually USE a 10d drop. Sure I could drop a full mageblood in a map, but I also could not. Sure I could get lucky with my first pair of boots and get MS/Chilled, or I could get it on the 15th attempt, spending 100d+ on what used to be a relatively cheap process. The boots are around a 20% chance to get a specific mod, a charge ring, or an explode bow is astronomically small, and the odds of them dropping has been reduced time and time again. If I wanted to make a bow myself, I'd have to not only imprint and roll the implicits I want (3-5d per attempt pre-project, 10d per attempt now) with extremely unlikely odds, but Id even likely want to get a 3 implicit bow considering the massive investment, which I would ALSO need to roll an exorbitant amount of harvest "synth an item." This is no longer something that is feasible for someone who drops a mirror, even if they have all the required knowledge already. A year ago today if I dropped a mirror, I could go for attempting to make myself a stupidly nice bow, and sure it likely wouldn't be mirror tier, but I would've at least thought about trying. Whether it is a falsehood in the first place, or because of the insane cost of crafting high tier items, hat sentiment is now gone.
I'll be the first to accept that this is a problem for the 5%, and not the majority nor the 1%. I've considered myself a 5% player, though maybe some of you would say I'm a 1% and the mirror crafters are the 0.1%, but that's not the point. I am nowhere near the point of being comfortable rolling Exceptional IchoEmber for the 1.5% damage boost after finishing my Orbs of Conflict. I settle for 1-2 good mods on one Elevated/Awakened item rather than making 5-10 and using the best while selling the remaining. I'm okay with "only" a 130% adorned, and non-synth implicit jewels. I play the game for fun, and that's it. Fun to me is optimizing/improving without being meticulous; would I like to one day have a mirror tier item on every slot in a character, maybe, but I don't think I ever will.
That's a lot of text just to say "I'm not rich (in game) and the game is getting less and less accessible to my wealth bracket" but it makes me think a lot about why the game is feeling less approachable as time goes on, and maybe this is it. This also doesn't even address the Einhar Beast portion of the post.

Continue Revitalizing Einhar to Revive mid-tier crafting

I would not by any means consider myself to be "a crafter" but I have always crafted my own gear because I enjoy to do so, and enjoy learning the mechanics. Would a super high mirror tier crafter have more accurate input? Most likely. But we are not mirror tier crafters. We don't have mirror shops, or stream on twitch, and we are still baffled with some of the items the people who TRULY understand crafting can make in this game. We browse the reddit, and we likely have a knowledge difference similar to that of a Professor and a Student.
And that's okay.
What isn't okay in my opinion is that the last thing that I feel like was truly introduced as a "new" crafting mechanic rather than easier access to another mechanic is Eldrich implicits. Sure vivid vultures are in the game, but I have never had the money to even think about them. I've never synthesized my own item since Harvest league because it's cheaper to buy one or 2 mod synth items, and I've never used a watcher eye reroll beast. Even though Eldrich orbs (chaos etc.) are rather expensive due to the extreme value they provide, there is a limit to what they can be used for. Nobody would rather have an Eldrich Dmg per power charge/Mana res efficiency helmet than a Synth 92% res multi/+1 power charge, and that would mean that for the VERY end game Eldrich orbs often cannot be used, and thus do not cost unreasonable amounts.
My idea for Einhar Beasts is to make the memory beasts available through mapping, but a similar and/or weaker variant.
What this looks like to me is a keystone for Bestiary behind Natural Selection (More likely for less common) that allows you to obtain beasts through other mechanics, while also specc'd into those mechanics, something like: "Unnatural Optimization" or some play on the former's name, that has "Allows artificial production of Beasts from other League Mechanics."
This could be a couple things, my original thought was for the Adolescent Vivid Vulture: Reroll a Synthesis Implicit Modifier on an item with 2 or fewer Synthesis Implicit Modifiers. This could be gated behind an Atlas Passive along the lines of "There is a 50% chance when upgrading a Harvest Crop to Unique it would instead become an Adolescent Beast." Or maybe 50% chance to be accompanied by? I'm not a numbers guy and I don't enjoy running current Harvest, so I don't know the impact either would have. This would essentially open up mid tier beast crafting without damaging the current insanely high tier crafting we have, aside from potentially making it (barely) easier to approach. An Incursion Beast that "Randomly Removes or Adds 3% Quality to an Uncorrupted Gem" Or maybe the same for gem level. Takes out the "Nothing happened", but also can't obtain double corrupt, basically an upgraded Vaal Orb Something fun like a Vaal Side Area Beast "Adds a COMPLETELY random corrupted implicit to an item." so maybe you get +1 Arrows on your body armor, maybe you get Resolute Technique on your +attack crit body armor. An Ultimatum Beast that "Adds 15% quality to an uncorrupted item, and randomizes the quality." A Breach Beast that "Creates a random non-atlas armor with a single Breach modifier" or "Turns a Breach Unique into a random iLvl 75 armor with one related modifier" to also add some value to breach itself rather than just as a source of monsters. An Expedition Beast that "Sets all modifiers on an uninfluenced item to Tier 3." (Expedition doesn't need anything more imo, it's in a very comfortable place with Rog early, then the others later) A Legion Beast that summons a Highly Experienced General? Idk this is the one that doesn't make sense, but with exp issues now Legion is essentially just a source of incubators, which is alright but doesn't FEEL good.
Maybe you would need some other lines in Unnatural Optimization to include "The Scarabs glinting with gold shudder" and you just need a scarab, Bestiary, and then that mechanic; or maybe you don't. Maybe it just adds modifiers to give ways to engage with content you enjoy outside of "Hey kid, I heard you like quant."
Returned as finishing the TLDR: Maybe even just throw all these beasts into Einhar encounters in Kirac missions? It gates their spawn rate and forces them to be rare, but also allows for some amount of "targeting" by being able to select "Capture the Artificial ____ Beast" as your mission instead of "Complete the ____ encounter"

Why EinhaBeasts?

Well, the dude's cool. Only person on his level was Z̵̢̢̫̬̈́̏̿a̵͍͔̪̚ṅ̶͍͖̟͊͐á̷̞͐̓͊̕ but she got stolen from us. I also wouldn't mind Einhar revealing he can just teleport through space and time on a whim to join me and Alva to hunt for treasure or to tag along and help kill Chayula.
Also, a lot of the issue I take with this game (that largely has/is been/being fixed) is that content often requires you to Do X so you can have fun with Y. Find Contracts so you can run Heist, get Sulphite so you can run Delve. There is also "farm Delirium and you can run Simulacrums." The difference being that you don't NEED simulacrums to have fun with the content. Compared to clicking 3 or 4 rocks is the Delve "content" in maps, and opening a strongbox while hearing Huck's voice lines is Heist's "Content" in maps. Delirium IS the content, Simulacrums are a separate optional location, and many don't even run them.
In truth I LOVE the implementation of Beasts: they are a miniboss in the content they belong. In maps you will find all types of tough, boss-like versions of monsters you have seen, that aren't necessarily just "same mob but in yellow." They summon waves of monsters, or effects, or have generally neat interactions that stir up the monotony of mapping (AND STILL CAN BE BYPASSED WITH ENOUGH DAMAGE) without feeling like it is pulling you away from mapping. It adds to the content it is found in, and even more seamlessly than Essence/Strongboxes because there is no interaction to start them.
You could enter a Breach and all of a sudden see a Red Beast spawn in a similar fashion to a Breach Lord, or see a Beast Marker in Expedition and say, "Okay, miniboss time let's not make him too hard." Maybe wave 11-13 in Ultimatums have a chance to spawn a single Beast that you need to kill in a time limit, or that stingy prick Merchant in your Incursions could have a chance to be replaced with a Beast you can capture.
You might actually enter that Vaal Side Area for once? Even if only to check if the boss has been replaced with a Beast and then leave.

TL;DR

Here we are, you made it. Thanks for reading if you did make it through, and thanks for checking this out if you didn't.
1. I play the game a lot, and have a lot of time, and I'm rather wealthy as a result; but I don't optimize and I play for fun so not THAT wealthy. 2. We have seen a lot of expansion of crafting mechanics (Awesome!) for early, middle, and high end, but lately we have been losing access to only mid-tier crafting (Not awesome!) which widens the gap 3. Items are always priced off of optimal use (10d scarabs, Hinekora's lock, vivid vultures, etc.) rather than casual use. 4. Because Items are priced based on the best use, it leads to many feeling uncomfortable using the items THEY FOUND themselves, because they would likely be able to just sell it for more value 5. Implement mid-tier Beast Crafts (inconvenience fee included via Menagerie) to add lesser versions of Harvest Beasts and similar for many league mechanics. Examples located right before "Why Einhar" 6. Beasts are very non-intrusive in the content they are, and serve to enhance the content similar to a Deli boss, medium challenge for medium reward, skip/remove when you are past medium rewards 7. Einhar cool, thanks for reading, enjoy the farming stupid beast

Hello! My name is Isabel. I’m ace/heteroromantic, and am also disabled! I love literature and writing and am an aspiring author, I adore swimming (since it’s also one of the only forms of exercise I can do), reptiles are some of my favorite creatures on the planet, and I love the ocean. I’m looking for a man who wants to be ridiculous and silly with me, who is kind and witty and passionate about whatever he truly loves to do, and who won’t see me and my health problems as “too much”. That might be a big ask, but I hope you’re out there!

My daughter is appalled that i would not provide her my user name and password to my Amazon account.
My daughter, 17 asked me, 58 for my username and PW for my Amazon account so she could watch a movie she wanted to see. When I respectfully declined she could not understand why. Why would I hide my PW from my own flesh and blood! It so happens I use that username and PW for many accounts, apps and for e-commerce. I guard that PW. It is even encrypted in the way I write it on my PW notecard. Am I being silly? Should I share it with her? She also wants me to say….
maybe mention the fact that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever i would attempt to steal your identity
if i’m stealing anyone’s identity it’s gonna be a billionaire.

As is my wont, I've gone and made another fully fleshed out setting for a brand new group of players to experience. You will play as the explorers at the horizon, agents of The Cartographer's Guild. Maps are very important when you have to worry about another island, however distant, on a collision course with your house. And while map making is less than dramatic, the real main event is the exploration of never-before-seen chunks of land that haven't seen a soul in generations. Forgotten tombs and harrowing dungeons, isolated villages and monster nests await our intrepid voyagers, getting rich off of history before it kills them.
There's a fair bit of lore that would make this ad far and away overstuffed. If you're interested to learn the lore of creation, see a glimpse of history, and examine the 5 detailed cultures of the world, feel free to peruse this drive folder! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/117zEVINT4h8qY4dkA3O5EU9J2VDrXPNY?usp=sharing
Generally speaking, our format of play will involved downtime at the Guildhall with our characters unwinding from the last expedition and preparing for the next. From there, exploration will ensue with brief but enriching and immersing random encounters until a plot encounter is discovered. Following its resolution our heroes will return to base and so the cycle repeats, with some glaring exceptions when player decision calls for it.
I have a handful of ideas for an overarching narrative, but our final choice will be made collaboratively and in accordance with player interest and backstory considerations.
I accept any and all classes from officially published material, though your selection of lineage/race will be more limited to fit the lore of the setting. Your options will include:
Even the familiar names of the above list do have occasionally significant alterations from the PHB to reflect their unique standing in the Shattered Skies.

Logistics & Requirements!

This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $20 per session excepting absences and session zero delivered through Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle.
Roll20 will be used for the purposes of tactical combat encounter maps, dice rolling, and character sheet management. Discord will be used for voice and video communications. I will be using my camera for our sessions so I can talk with my hands and face alongside my voice, and I would encourage you to do the same! I have a server made and prepared for this game.
My timezone is CST, and I'm entirely available on Saturday to make a session time work around whatever our schedules allow for. I'm partial to evening start times myself. I'm hoping our (free) session zero can happen on the 25th and we can begin play properly on the 1st of June.
If you're paying for sessions of DnD it's a fair assumption you're over the age of 18, and I would prefer you're at least that old. Exceptions can be made, but my games tend to be adult and include elements of occasionally disturbing horror.
I expect y'all to have fun, and if that involves drug or alcohol use for you I'd ask the dial to be set to somewhere around 3 out of 10. I've been known to have a glass of wine during sessions but never anything more.
Safety tools will be utilized to maintain a safe environment where everyone is having comfortable fun. Lines and veils will be established, and mine is an open table. If you knowingly violate a line it is grounds for ejection without refund. There is a certain amount of emotional trust we give our players and our DMs when we play this game, and it will not be betrayed.
Furthermore, this is an explicitly LGBT friendly space. I'm queer in multiple ways and queer identities will be portrayed in the NPCs of the world. If either of those things are deal breakers for you, please look elsewhere for a game.

2024.05.22 02:45 Space_Fics Don't you hate it when others call out your blatant rip-off?

So I am totally a writer and I am going to be published with this really good book I'm writing called Lord of the Thrones: The leopard, the wizard and the cupboard
I paid a few betas to give honest and all deserving praise on my awesome work and they had the audacity to respond telling me I'm ripping of some old white guys named George, John and (pff) Clive (I can't even with clive)
I mean, the function of the betas is to get paid for make my ego feel good! not give criticism and make me think right? That's why they are betas and not alphas or sigmas ha ha ha
Chill.

2024.05.22 02:44 SmallRadio3125 Size doesnt matter

(Authors Note: Im quite new to writing and any advice is highly appreciated. Otherwise hope you enjoy.)
&nebsp;
The many nations of the galaxy prided themselves on their colossal power. So did the Drö‘al, a species about 6m in height and about 70cm in width. One of the tallest species in the galaxy they were also known for their projects of mega-engineering building eccentric structures ranging from Dyson-swarmes too Spinning black hole generators, but most mind numbing were their fleets.
Made up of a apparently minuscule number of only 972 warships one would first assume their status as a galactic super power was only due to their mega-engineering capabilities and tide to them, economical power on the galaxies market, but that assumption would be wrong.
The vessels the Drö‘al built were hulking „Battleships“ more than capable of taking on one or if conditions were favorable two fleets and still being operational for the next engagement. These „Battleships“ were often dozens of miles long. Titans made up of imposing plasma batteries, advanced particle accelerators and deadly railguns plastered on every available square inch of hull. All weapons systems more than enough to easily flatten mountains from orbit and if fully let loose shatter the crust of planets and make them become uninhabitable. Adding to their offensive capabilities was the fact that the Drö‘al „Battleships“ had thick hull plaiting at its slimmest points about 70 feet and at most up too 120 feet in width.
These facts made the Drö‘al „Battleships“ a death sentence for anyone unlucky enough to go against and secured the Drö‘al‘s place in the hierarchy of the galaxy.
As a display of this power, but also to further relations between every civilization and Drö‘al government. The latter held a competition wherein each nation were to design one space ship of their technological capabilities to go against every other nation‘s ship in all out battle. With everyone fighting for themselves.
It was a holographic simulation, that took place in realtime where nations could express their naval and engineering power to their own people, to bolster morale, as well as garner the respect of fellow nation states.
This competition had been held over 58 times now and was a spectacle each cycle to behold. The ships, that took part in the simulation were controlled by a naval crew made to control the ship in a simulated star system of random choice.
With it being an even battle between the Drö‘al and other three other galactic super powers. The Kelron, Winlo and lastly the Zup.
Though having won the last competition the cycle before the naval and engineering team of the Drö‘al was determined to achieve victory this time as well having built on their current „Battleship“ design and equipping it with a new amour and upgraded weapons systems, that would even rival a super nova.
It was then to no surprise of their own, that the Drö‘al managed to at times easily hold their own in the simulation with the Zups „Scuirk“(Moon Cracker) being their closest competitor up until the last battle against an upstart faction called „The United Human Nations“.
The „humans“ had built a small unassuming raven black ship. Having no apparent weapons systems and all in all taken as a joke by the other competitors. So it came as a surprise too everyone, that it had survived the simulated battle for so long. More so when the Drö‘al „Battleship“ started to loose amour integrity which became invisible black dust.
First at an unnoticeable rate as it tried to locate and evaporate the human ant, that had hid in the chaos of battle.
Then the longer the Drö‘al searched for the Human „Dropship“ the faster the depletion of their amour went by. Exponentially eating up the thick amour of their metal titan.
This made the Drö‘al naval personal in control of their ship panic as they fired on everything which remotely looked like the human „Dropship“ radar signal, but all they hit was dust and echoes.
Thinking they were being destroyed by some type of infrared laser deployed by the human vessel they searched the entire spectrum of the simulation up and down, but their sensors yielded no useful result. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The Drö‘al cursed human ship design while firing at all available targets in the simulated star system hoping they would eventually hit the fly buzzing around their eyes, but again no human ship was hit.
In their panic the Drö‘al naval did not fathom the true idea of what the human engineers had come up with while firing wildly until their ships total destruction as the amour integrity loss became hull loss until nothing was left im the simulation, but black dust.
Which ended up forming a small human „Dropship“ with the Name of „Size doesn‘t matter“ in bright white letters. A nanite swarmer ship and pride of the human navy.

2024.05.22 02:37 VeryPoisonedBones [QCrit] DUNGEON INSPECTOR, Adult Fantasy, 96k (Fourth Attempt)

First Attempt Second Attempt Third Attempt
A solitary goblin, assigned to inspect dungeons in a D&D-inspired world, must navigate both a subterranean labyrinth and the whims of his colleagues after being sent on a mission far above his pay grade. I am seeking representation for DUNGEON INSPECTOR, an adult fantasy novel with dark and satirical elements complete at 96,000 words.
Razle has taken one of the less popular paths in goblin society: working for the Ministry of Evil. One of the Ministry’s tasks is maintaining dungeons for Good adventurers to explore, and although it is a thankless job, Razle is content with his life. When he is dispatched to Monuveln Island, home to one of Evil’s most infamous dungeons, that contentedness gives way to dread.
The task is simple enough: the enchanted crystal that keeps the dungeon’s monsters from attacking their keepers has gone missing somewhere within, and Razle must find it. It’s the dozens of other agents coming along that have him worried—he’s only ever worked solo, and believes that Evils don’t collaborate well.
The chances of this being a routine inspection decrease further when Razle arrives to find the group’s intended lodging on fire and a flock of giant, carnivorous birds on the horizon. With everyone forced to shelter amid the monsters in the dungeon, the first night is a bloodbath. Though Razle pulls through with the help of a suave drake, his fellow survivors make for less-than-pleasant company, among them a cursed satyr, a cyclops war veteran, and Razle’s embittered, grudge-holding goblin superior.
As the group’s numbers dwindle, they decide to slaughter their way through their own dungeon just to have a place to sleep. The isolation is getting to them, and Razle struggles to match their callous, cutthroat attitudes. With their apprehension rising to a crescendo, Razle finally finds the crystal—and it frames him as an accomplice in the monster insurrection. Faced with the possibility of exile or execution, he hides it again, and must consider if any of his colleagues can be trusted with this secret. It’s a position Razle has never been in before, and as he conceals the key to the mission’s resolution, he starts to wonder if his bad luck is more than just coincidence.
[Bio]. With a narrator similar to the guarded, morally gray protagonist of THE UNSPOKEN NAME placed in a bureaucratic fantasy realm akin to THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA, DUNGEON INSPECTOR provides a wry look into a world where injustice is a given and no one is at ease. [Personalization].
Notes
Hello again! Here’s another attempt at my query. I’ve cut everything about the book/cycle and most of the fitting-in stuff to just focus on Razle and his situation, while trying to continuously build up the stakes. Big thanks to Dumbo_Drinks for writing a query suggestion on my last post that I borrowed a few things from. Let me know how I did!

2024.05.22 02:34 mschlief The Biker

Here’s a story about a crazy incident that took place years ago that I decided to write out in a sort-of poem/rap.
Cruisin' home from up north with a couple of kids One's name was Nick, we had stayed at his crib He cracked open a water, had a couple of sips Said "I'm over it" and tossed it out of the whip What he nearly hit was a biker at our six Now the biker's pissed..big guy..probably 6 foot 6, and thick Has a spiked metal helmet, wants to rip off our dicks Maybe beat us with sticks Maybe cut us to bits Then go home and get blitzed Not a care that we're kids
Got in the lane next to us and started to scream Had a girl on his bike to add to his team After yelling obscene things, they started to leave We began to think we would get away clean
The biker turned right, good luck like the clover Until Nick screamed some shit and it started back over
The guy turned around, on the hunt like a hound By now, he was ready to smash Nicks face to the ground I pulled into a place, but there was no one around Another problem...there was no way out
See, the only way out was the way I came in And by the way we were parked, it wasn't an option He got off his bike and started walkin' Angry as hell, if with gun he'd be cockin' Ready to bust caps in each one of our noggins Locked all the doors, adrenaline rushin' Right up to my door is where he was flockin'
To our left was a field, looked flat from a distance Had to make a decision, and it had to be instant
Didn't want to die, so I threw it in drive Wasn't high, just a guy tryna survive
In the middle of the field was a bit of a ditch Came up so fast, I couldn't see it The front of my car took a nice little hit We were thrown all around, it was scary as shit But not even a scratch, no first aid kit
We had to keep going, no time for me slowing Drifted into the road, and with traffic we're flowing Left in the dust, this biker I was showing Should've left us alone, we really had to be going.

2024.05.22 02:33 soy-la-princesaa Finding Drago: unanswered questions

Hi all! Niche question but I’m very intrigued and can’t find anything about this anywhere, so hoping somebody here might have an answer.
I just finished listening to Finding Drago by Cameron James and Alexei Toliopoulos (the guys behind Total Reboot) and I loved it!
I have one question that I don’t think was answered in the final interview (unless I totally missed it): David said that Beau (the guy posing as Robert Swift to write the reviews) was a casual acquaintance of his who was keen on helping David create this mythology around the book.
So what was up with the Kindle book that Alexei found online written by David Allatt and Robert Swift called ‘Virtual Reality in Education Oculearning: Our Path to Reality’? Did David ever answer this?
It seems like a legit book that David has written, but Robert Swift was just a persona that Beau was using, right? Did Beau just coincidentally choose this name? Or did David maybe suggest he use this name to add some legitimacy to his online presence?
Thanks for your help with this very specific question!

2024.05.22 02:29 Gazooonga Wayward III

Third Chapter! I'm having a blast writing this. If you enjoy it, then make sure to like it and give me any feedback you have. I'm grateful for all of it!
Prev First
I was cold, my feet hurt, and I felt even sicker than before. The boreal path stretched on for what seemed like an eternity, the pale sunlight having no effect on me due to the sense, misty fog. Every breath felt like ice, and I could see my breath in front of me, condensed and almost viscous.
I had been waking for at least an hour by now, following the path to wherever it led. This place couldn't be empty, right? There was a tomb built here, so that meant there had to be some kind of civilization nearby, or at least the remnants of it. Even if it was abandoned, I'd kill to have a roof over my head to sleep under.
I wanted to lay down and sleep, but I knew that if I didn't get warm soon I'd die of hypothermia, so I had to keep trudging on. Besides, I was in the deep wilderness, in this place that I knew nothing about, and I wasn't going to risk getting eaten by some wild animal, or worse.
So I trudged on. The sun rose further in the sky after what seemed like an eternity, and the fog cleared up a bit. Birds sang, trees rattled and shook from the wind, and the air became bearable. I still felt awful, but at least it wasn't frigid out anymore and I would feel better eventually. I wanted to sit down so badly, to find a way to start a fire and get some heat into my bones, but I kept going. I needed to keep going. I needed to know what the hell was going on, and I'd rather find some place to sleep that had a roof and even a bed if I was lucky.
I kept thinking while I walked, in an attempt to entertain myself over what seemed like an endless journey. Who was I? I didn't know who I was, or where I was from, or if I even had a name! All I knew is that I was in the body of this weird lizard… dragon… horned thing, and it felt all wrong. The forked tongue in my mouth felt too weird, I was taller than I thought I should have been, and I was definitely stronger than what a human should have been, if I was even a human before. I think that since I defaulted to assuming that my new strength was more than what a human would have instead of any other race, I must have been human before, right? What other races were there, anyway? What if there were only humans here and I was just a freak of nature?
What if I was the only person in this world? What if everything was gone? That couldn't be the case, right? That tomb implied there were people who had been alive at one point to build it. But they could all be dead now…
Okay, that was enough of me being alone with my thoughts. I decided that, if I was going to keep myself sane, I'd have to do something productive to distract myself from the implications of everything going on around me. It was time to consult the useless journal.
I pulled it out and opened it to the page where we had our last conversation, still irritated by how vague it could be. But I pushed that to the side as I pulled out the quill and began to concentrate as I wrote down a question. Where do I go?
Nothing happened for a moment, but eventually my hand moved on its own, scribbling down an answer in the same elegant cursive as before. Follow the path.
That isn't helpful. I wrote back, frustrated. There was another pause, then more furious scribbling.
You asked a question. I answered it. Be more specific next time.
You’re an asshole. I wrote down, snarling. This time, there was no response, nor was there any movement in my hand. The journal remained uncommunicative.
Why didn't you respond? I asked next, surprised that the journal had been silent. More scribbling followed.
I answer questions. Insults are not questions.
I became even angrier at that, knowing my words didn't really affect the journal. Why can't you be more helpful? I wrote down, just to see what the journal would say.
I am only truly helpful to those who are capable of helping themselves.
It took a moment for my emotions to register, but when they did they appeared as a burst of unbridled rage. With a draconic roar, I threw the journal at the closest tree, causing it to elicit a loud thwap as leather hit bark before it fell to the ground. I turned and stomped away, grumbling, just hoping to leave the journal there. Then I looked down and noticed it was in my hand again.
“Wha-” I began, before realizing that the journal was in perfect condition, not even a single scuff. I grit my teeth and slipped it back into my bag with a sigh before returning to my walk, hoping that I'd find something eventually.
After some time, I finally heard it: running water. That must have been a good thing, because villages were usually nestled along some kind of water source. Even if it was a small village, it must have been a safe place because people were living there, and there were enough people to keep the wilderness at bay.
I rushed up the hill and down the path towards the sound, avoiding tripping over roots and rocks before reaching my destination. The creek was a few yards wide and at least a yard deep, so nothing huge, but it was fresh water. I had nothing to store water in, but I had a skin of beer so I wasn't worried about that. What I was interested in was the dirt path beyond this point seemed less faded and more worn, as if it was used more often. Most exciting, however, was a signpost with a few pointed signs hanging from it. There were two, in fact, one pointing to the left of me and the other one forward still, crossing a beaten and rickety wooden bridge that spanned the creek. The sign that pointed left read Forsvolkvr, which was just utterly incomprehensible to me. The other sign has a simple carved framing around the edge, so it might've been a more important place, and it read Ljosavatnsskaro… who in the hell named a place Ljosavatnsskaro? I couldn't even pronounce that right.
Needless to say, I went with Forsvolkvr.
The path led further downhill, into a sparser woodland that seemed more welcoming, and in the distance I saw it: a tiny village of maybe a dozen long huts, with either clapboard or mudbrick walls and thatched roofs. They didn't have chimneys, but they did have little openings at the top that allowed smoke from hearths to escape. Some houses were a bit bigger than others, but all of them were no bigger than a single story tall. As I approached, I noticed that there were people, honest to God people. Humans walked about, wearing pretty ragged clothes but still people nonetheless! I didn't think I had ever been so excited to see another person before, but then I remembered that I didn't actually remember a time before, so that didn't really mean much.
Most of the people I saw from a distance seemed to wear old, stained, and patched clothes: leather trousers stitched together along with long wool shirts and not much else. Some wore hats or pelt cloaks, and all of the men had thick beards, but most seemed to be exceptionally poor. Along with a few barren fields, there were little more than a few sheep and some chickens roaming the stumpy hills and knolls, so beyond the bounty creek I didn't know how this village even sustained itself.
As I approached the entrance of the village, which was a rickety little gate with a sign that simply read Forsvolkvr, people began to notice me, and I could immediately tell that it wouldn't be a positive reception. The adults pushed children into their homes, some picked up hatchets, and a few more had weapons of their own, mostly simple spears and rounded shields painted all sorts of colors with runic designs. One man came riding up on a horse, sword drawn and chainmail gleaming in the sunlight. “Halt, dragon-spawn, how dare you approach this village.” He was a younger man, maybe in his mid to late twenties, with a short beard, baby blue eyes, and golden blonde hair. He wore similar clothes to those around him, albeit a little less dirty and worn, and had a bear fur mantle on his neck, along with a silver circlet with a single ruby in the center that seemed to serve as a lowly crown. “Your kind are not welcome here!”
Great, so I was a freak of nature. I was hoping I was simply just another race in this world, but I suppose I couldn't be that lucky, now could I?
“I'm just looking for a place to rest,” I shouted back, lowering my sword to appear less intimidating. “I simply want to know if you have a place for me to stay: I'm willing to pay.”
“Are you deaf, dragon spawn?” He shouted as he forced his horse to halt, “Get out or I'll slit open your belly and expose your guts to the crows!”
Well, that wasn't good. I was exhausted and ill, but not so much that I was eager to take a dirt nap. And even if I was in peak condition, I was sure I couldn't take on this entire village nor did I want to since massacring otherwise innocent people probably wouldn't be a great start to whatever mess I had gotten myself into. And I wasn’t exactly a master swordsman to begin with. Even though I defeated those undead, it still felt awkward to swing a sword. I was definitely a bit desensitized to violence, but not some kind of warrior. Having a sword doesn't make me a warrior.
I decided to cut my losses and head for Ljosavatnsskaro instead, since maybe the people there wouldn't want to kill me for having scales. But then the crowd began to spread out, making way for a lone figure, hunched over and wrapped in a dusty brown cloak, using a gnarled branch as a walking cane as he pushed himself forward. The crowd’s ire transformed into anxious murmurs as the man passed, not even sparing them a glance. The only one he looked at was the man on a horse, who's face became pale as milk when their eyes met, and when the ringleader was thoroughly cowed, so was the rest of the mob.
“Gone, back to your workings ye shall be,” he rasped, his voice like sandpaper on glass, “begone and allow me to see where others cannot.” As he hobbled past the horseman he waved his hand, sending the mob hurrying away and back to their daily lives, as if I had never appeared.
“Gothi Øbyiorn, you cannot intervene, this thing is an intruder!” the horseman shouted.
“This thing is a person with a name,” the old man said, who's name was apparently Gothi, “And he has humbly requested your patronage. You dare violate the laws of hospitality? Shame on you for insulting the gods so.”
“By the Stormcaster, he's a dragon-spawn! He'll bring damnation down on us all from above! The Stormcaster shall smite us for harboring him!”
Gothi merely shook his gnarled walking branch irritably and gave the horseman an ugly look. “Thorfast Iogæirsson! If you had paid any attention to my lessons when you were a child you'd know that the Stormcaster’s own brother was the father of dragons! They felled the Lord of giants together! Have you no shame in taking his name in vain?”
The horseman, Thorfast, seemed to blush from embarrassment and indignation at that. “Rhörldir betrayed his brother for the skythrone!”
“And then Inir forgave him after humbling him in battle with his spear, and Rhörldir stood by his side ever since,” Gothi spoke, “Yes, some dragons may be wicked and cling to godly grudges, but this young dragon-kin,” he put emphasis on the word kin as if spawn was some kind of slur, “has humbly requested shelter, and even offered to compensate, and you, as Høbding, should be the first to honor the rules of hospitality. Do not shame your late father with your foolishness by being so brash and bigoted towards those who seek you no harm, especially when your father's very own thane himself was of the dragon-kin.”
The horseman, Thorfast, seemed enraged at first, but something about the elderly hunchback seemed to inject some sense in him, because he sighed with disgust and inserted his blade back into his scabbard. “Come, Dragon-kin,” he spoke, as if the words were being forced from him at gunpoint, “I shall find you the accommodations you seek, but he warned: disrupt my village in any way and I'll impale you on a spike in front of my home.”

2024.05.22 02:26 OkSea4017 Hello! I recently wrote an essay about the Troubled Teen Industry for my high school Capstone project. I was wondering if you all would be willing to read it and give me feedback! It doesn’t have to be much, just any general comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

I hope this letter finds you well. To begin, I was drawn to this topic through social media posts that shared dozens of records detailing the abuse and deaths of hundreds of children in these therapy programs. I have often wondered, how can these programs be allowed to cause this amount of trauma to teens and children? This inspired me to look deeper into the troubled teen industry and understand why paid “caregivers” have put so many in danger. If we want to protect the wellbeing of these teens, we must find a solution to regulating these industries. Without increased laws and regulations we continue to place America’s children into potential death traps. Now what is a wilderness therapy program? Wilderness therapy programs, on the surface, seem like a promising solution for troubled teens, offering a blend of nature immersion and psychiatric support. However, the roots of the troubled teen industry date back to the 1970s, with reports of abuse surfacing early on. Shockingly, despite decades of outcry and documentation of fatalities, political inertia persists, and federal oversight remains lacking. It is understandable that parents want their children to be happy, respectful, and well-mannered. However, in an attempt to do what is right for their struggling child, parents may turn to the troubled teen industry. Currently, according to the American Bar Association, there are thousands of teenagers in these programs within the U.S, programs that often induce trauma and abuse, even causing the deaths of their children. So, why do parents continue to put their children into these programs? Is the fear of losing the “perfect” family leading parents to enrolling their children into these troubled teens’ wilderness programs? So why do parents enroll their children in these awful facilities? Simple answer: manipulation. The troubled teen industry (TTI) often manipulates parents through a series of insidious tactics. For instance, leveraging fear by exaggerating the risks associated with a child's behavior and creating a sense of imminent danger. Isolation tactics further reinforce this urgency, convincing parents that the facility is their sole recourse. These industries hire workers framed as “education consultants” that utilize high-pressure sales strategies to exploit parental anxiety, and present their TTI program as the only viable option. In an article by USAtoday, reporters held interviews of parents and teens who experienced a TTI program at Evoke, a Utah facility. "I was just an anxious mom. I loved (Katelyn) to death," Tessie, Katelyn’s mom, says, "I was so desperate and desperately wanting to save my child from herself" (USAtoday). Programs offer promises of rapid transformation and they prey on parental desperation for quick, easy fixes. Emotional manipulation adds another layer, playing on a parents guilt and insecurity. By showcasing selective success stories and controlling information flow, they obscure potential risks and alternatives. Stigmatizing the child's behavior further pressures parents into compliance, painting their facility as the sole refuge from societal judgment. "’[Evoke] just made it seem like (she was) such a rotten kid and that she couldn't come home after the wilderness program,’ Tessie says, instead [Evoke suggested] Katelyn go to an aftercare program” (USAtoday). In this web of manipulation, parents often find themselves coerced into decisions they later regret, unaware of the nuanced realities obscured by these tactics. In an article from the “Cafemoms” blog titled My Daughter Was a Victim of the 'Troubled Teen' Industry & It Haunts Me to This Day, a mother recounts her perspective of the tactics used by Island View (IV) treatment center to send her sixteen year old daughter to their facilities. “We trusted the [education consultant] when he said IV was the best program in the country and the best fit for Colleen. What the [education consultant] didn’t tell us was that the reason so many IV grads did so well after graduation is because nearly all of them went straight from IV to another residential treatment”(Cafemoms). Despite this, there is still hope for change. Imprint News wrote an article that focused on recent protests and youth advocates who were pushing congress to introduce new laws. Specifically, they discussed the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act. A main advocacy group aiming at these lawmakers is Breaking Code Silence, a group dedicated to advocating for young people who had experienced harm in a youth treatment center (Imprint News). Their main goal is to pass a Bill of Rights for all children in youth treatment centers (Imprint News). The article also mentions that Breaking Code Silence wants children to have guaranteed protection from physical restraint and monitored phone calls. They further require that children are provided with all the basic necessities (Imprint News). Paris Hilton, a well-known celebrity, discussed in a Washington post article when she was 16 years old when she was taken from her home by two men. This was a result of her parents signing her up for a teen wilderness program (Hilton). Hilton describes that she was beaten and malnourished throughout her time at a Utah Facility. In October 2021, she partnered with Breaking Code Silence and pushed for a reform that was signed into law last April (Hilton). In Utah, it is now mandatory for treatment centers to document any time that staff used physical restraint (Hilton). Immediately following they have to submit these reports to the Utah Office of Licensing (Hilton). It also prohibits programs from sedating residents or using mechanical restraints, such as handcuffs and chains (Hilton). Therefore, this proves that reforms can be implemented and that it is important to continue the fight for more. Without regulations these programs can run rampant and place hundreds of children in danger. Continuing to protest, collaborate with government officials, and raise awareness can, and will, eventually stop the persistence of these programs. Enforcing reports and proper care through the law is the only way to give teens struggling with mental illnesses in these programs a fighting chance to recover. On the other hand, supporters of the troubled teen industry have used studies and research to prove the effectiveness of these programs, one example being RedCliff Ascent. RedCliff Ascent is a wilderness therapy program that claims the effectiveness of wilderness therapy. In 2005, this company hired a researcher to study families and adolescents 2 years after the program. The results found that over 90% of adolescents found wilderness therapy as effective and 83% of adolescents were doing better. In another study by Dr. Steve Aldana, it was found that 91.4% of children experienced clinically significant improvement six months post program. The counter argument presented by RedCliff Ascent is not only biased as the research was initiated from a wilderness therapy company, but they do not provide a sample size. This is important because when making conclusive statements such as “Over 90% of adolescents contacted perceived wilderness therapy as effective” they could be talking about six out of seven children or two hundred out of two hundred twenty (RedCliff Ascent). Through further research, the same results can be presented without the use of wilderness therapy. An article by the American Psychology Association (APA) titled “Better options for troubled teens” presents a series of studies and programs that was created to help adolescents. These programs focus on community-based activities, activities to help connect teenagers with their parents, and activities that align with the teens interests. This includes computer labs, dance studios, and machine shops. These programs have found significant success in decreasing the amount of juvenile offenders from 50% to 4% in an area of Connecticut (APA). It did this by helping teens take accountability and understand their actions. It utilized role play, writing assignments, and guided discussions between the teens. Overall, the troubled teen industry has caused abuse, trauma, and death to many children across the United States. It is a trap for children and a trick for desperate parents. Through the personal stories from teens and parents, reports of mistreatment, and protests it can easily be seen the impact and the importance of preventing this industry from expanding, instead increasing regulations and transparency to protect America’s children. To keep these children safe it is imperative that everyone works together to enact legislation. Your support matters to keep America’s children protected.
Sincerely, A high school student trying to make positive change

2024.05.22 02:22 FlaxbopFleetfoot 29 [M4F] NC/USA - Seeking Fellow Adventurer for a Journey Through D&D Realms, Animal Shelters, and Hockey Stadiums!

Hello there! Welcome to what is likely going to be a long, rambly post. I'm going to structure this as though I were answering job interview questions, because let's face it, dating is a glorified job interview for a relationship/getting laid.
Oh, and to save some of you the time reading this (though I did spend a while writing it mind you), I'm 5'5, and it's perfectly fine if that doesn't work for you. I have preferences too! Anyway...
Tell me About Yourself.
Ah, this one is a classic to start off with, glad you asked (or told me to elaborate? Same idea)!
First and foremost, I am a nerd. My favorite day of the week is Sunday, because that's when my D&D game happens (It's actually Pathfinder, but I say D&D because most people are not into the hobby), and this account is named after the character I play in that very game! Feel free to ask for more details at the risk of an overly excited explanation. I also play video games, usually single-player CRPGs, but lately I've been playing Hades and I like being on voice call when I do that.
Professionally I'm... still in school. Here's a lengthy, detailed discussion as to why that is: anxiety sucks. Phew, that was so lengthy, glad that's over! Anyway, I'm a nuclear engineering major and plan to graduate in 4 semesters. In all seriousness, I don't mind going over the full story once we're talking.
What are Some of Your Hobbies?
Lists are helpful for this one! So here we go:
What do You Want in a Potential Partner?
Someone who's not an asshole, shares some interests with me, willing to do some basic stuff (sharing a picture, voice calling, video calling eventually) and treats me with respect. Honestly, not a long list. Physically, I would prefer someone who's of a thinner-average body type as that is what I am. I've made exceptions to this before though, so if you feel that I'm irresistible and not entirely obnoxious, feel free to reach out.
What I want the most though? Just intimacy. I think that's what we all want at the end.
What do You Look Like?
I'm 5'5 as mentioned before, 125 lbs, white, brown hair, green eyes, and have glasses that might as well be made of aquarium glass. Hopefully that gives you a vivid enough picture for now, but an actual picture is worth 1000 words so once we've exchanged a few messages I can share that.
And that, dear reader, is the end of my hopefully well-formatted and not-at-all-obnoxious wall of text. Hope you enjoyed reading it, and I hope to hear from you! If I don't, have a great whatever time of day it happens to be in your timezone!

2024.05.22 02:19 Otherwise_Engine6171 Help with the reversed name order problem

So in my country, surnames go first before given names. I have to file a tax form on a US affiliate marketplace platform for my work and they show up my name in the typical Western order which is family name goes after given name. This affects the tax form I have to write too. It has to match with my banking info but only the bank account has my name in the right order.
I have contacted customer support (of the platform) but they just insisted on that they cannot help me change the format and it has to match with my legal name no matter what. Putting my family name in the first name box is definitely not a good idea.
Since I'm a foreigner I use the W8 BEN form and they don't have the option to change my name order still.
Does the name order really matter in this case? Can I just submit the tax form without any problem?

2024.05.22 02:19 BstonBrwins Citrix WEM external tasks calling environmental variables stopped working

I've been using an external task in WEM for years to launch a bat file to update BGinfo. One of the values I'm displaying is client name. BGinfo is finicky and limited and has never been able to see the %clientname% variable, so a work around is to create a registry rule in WEM that creates a custom variable (HKCU\Environment\ClientNameCustom) with a value of %clientname%. Pointing BGinfo to that reg successfully pulls the current client name. Or it used to. Out of the blue, the BGinfo bat fired from a WEM external task has stopped being able to resolve the variable. It now just displays %clientname%. When I run the exact same bat directly on the session it works fine. (WEM is calling the bat from the VDA). As a potential workaround, I created a 1 line PS script to pull $env:clientname and write it to a text file, then pointed BGinfo to that text file for the client name. When the PS is fired from WEM, it does not write the variable to the text file. Running the same script directly on the VDA does. WEM external tasks run in the user context, so what the hell am I missing here??

2024.05.22 02:18 singingweasels What advice do you have on this situation ?

I have lived in this apartment for almost two years now. No noise complaints from my neighbors, apart from a woman intimately moaning at various times of the day. That’s because the apartments are not sound proofed. To be fair, she did scream at her boyfriend one day to get out, and that solved both moaning and screaming. I admit that some hollered for their partners to open the door for them a couple of times, but that happened on the ground floor. Someone threw an egg at me outside of the apartment complex, but they missed. Parcels usually get stolen and that’s only because people keep the door open all the time but no robbery. Except once, there was a stabbing (read that on fb… you can never really trust fb) during robbery like an year ago. We didn’t even notice. Otherwise, it’s a peaceful community we’ve built.
Never had any trouble with neighbors, fantastic people… truly fantastic. I have never even met any of them, except two days ago. I finally met a neighbor. We introduced ourselves. We were both disappointed with the parcels being stolen. I conjectured a hypothesis, “The delivery driver failed to deliver the parcels.” She still insisted that hers got stolen. I let it go. A couple of hours later, I saw a letter on my doormat. She had skipped it under the door requesting for my number. She had written hers down. She sounded frightened in the letter.
The message said that the new guy who has moved into the flat at the end of corridor is sending some odd messages to her, under the door which has made her feel a bit unsafe. It didn't initially say what was the message but only mentioned that she had contacted the police and agents about it, and that she stopped interacting with him. I wrote to her and she told me that the new guy is demanding her to ask her friends to take the cameras off of his apartment. Then he knocked on her door late in the night which she didn't answer. Neither of us know this guy. I told her she could save my number. Although I assured that everything will be alright, I let her know that I'm moving out next week.
He is probably having mental health issues, I hope he gets better. I sympathize with both of their situations. She seems spooked. In fact, a couple of days ago, I heard the guy knock on her door very many times. I was reading a book and got annoyed by the knocking. No one answered. I almost felt like telling him that she is probably not inside. I didn't know about her interactions with him at that time.
I often hear his door handle clatter in frequent intervals. Whenever I head out, whether to grab a coffee or throw the trash into the bin, he opens his apartment door and says hi to me. I smile and return a hi back to him. I had always wondered if he was waiting by the door expecting someone, a deliveroo driver may be but that’s not possible because he keeps doing it all the time when I get out. He sounds eager to know my name. I didn't answer because I had walked farther away from him by the time he shouted, "Hey man, what's your name ?"
While writing this post, he made a phone call, possibly called the police, I don't know, and informed them that there was a break-in.

2024.05.22 02:15 Tyrant-song Authors will say they want to make a living off of writing...

But no one has written the cowboy xianxia cultivation I want to pay money for.
There's tons of western cultivation stories but no amazing Western cultivation stories (that I've heard of).
Forget young masters and irritable teachers. I want a plucky young cultivator whose afraid of his pistol being trained by a Sheriff who eats nails for his daily intake of iron.
Screw sects of dopey cultivators chasing immortality, I want gangs of gun slinging outlaws who'd rather go out in a blaze of glory and be immortal only in name.
Of course I thought of writing it myself....but I just came up with cowboys cultivating stands (like in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) based on paths and my brain refuses to see it any other way.

2024.05.22 02:14 Ok-Station-3276 Memory loss at young age- what to do

I am a 20 year old female, diagnosed last year with memory loss after going through extensive testing.
I used to have an amazing memory and IQ- better than most of my peers to a point where I would impress them. 3 years ago, for an unexplained reason, my memory and IQ began to decline. As of last year it was tested and shown to be in the low range and now, it’s difficult to even recall my last thought.
I carry a notebook with me everywhere now to write every important thought because I will forget. My memory significantly impacts my work performance and relationships with others. I had to stop going to college because I can’t remember basic concepts in the lessons anymore.
I’m constantly going into thought loops and get borderline obsessive over random topics that in the end, meant nothing to me. I sometimes forget my coworker’s names. I zone out often. Sometimes my body seems like it forgets how to swallow even when I know I have to swallow my food or drink. Sometimes I forget to take a breath and I nearly choke. I get dizzy randomly and trip over nothing, but luckily I haven’t fallen so far. I forget what I’m thinking about in the middle of thinking. Very frustrating for me and everyone around me. I forget my appointments and miss them. I forget how much money I have and end up spending too much, thinking I had way more.
It’s difficult to write this because I’ve zoned out and forgot what my goal was behind this post like 5 times.
My neuropsychologist asked me (last year) if I hit my head really hard some years ago !!! I said no. I’m not sure why this is happening. Family history of cancer and brain tumors. Mother has memory problems too, not sure what it is and she’s 40.
Should I get re-evaluated from last year? Get accommodation at work for this condition? I don’t know what to do. This impacts every second of my life and it scares me.

2024.05.22 02:07 Re5pect34 [EU] [PL] [LFT] 10lvl 2300elo faceit

Hello! My name is Re5pect (Kacper), im looking a team or a stack for playing faceit's, i want to improve my playstyle, skill etc. Due to lack of friends i get to play a lot of soloQ FC and it destroyed my Elo - i'm surfing from 2100 to 2500 elo. Now im looking for some people/stack to play with so i can get up higher on faceit, improve my/our skill in game and create team to play with long term. I think that a good method (which worked for me before) is to start playing with each other on Faceit and then create a team - I don't like "rigid" team creation because it rarely works out. About me: 23 yo player from Poland, playing cs since 2014, I speak fluently Polish. My 2nd language is English and it isn't on very high level but i want to improve my communication in Eng. Experience: 2800elo fc CS:GO in peak and 2500 in CS2 in peak. I played a few LAN tournaments in Poland with smaller and larger achievements. My role in team usually was Lurker, but i played a little on 2nd AWP, Entryfragger or IGL. Usually i am not toxic, i always trying my best even doing 1-10, for me Communicate in team is the most important think to do in team. I am open to creating/joining an international team if my poor knowledge of English is not a problem. If I have interested you in my description, please write: https://steamcommunity.com/id/re5pect34 Discord: re5pect

2024.05.22 02:07 OneLastSmile letter-writing geese

when i was little and still went to girlscouts i went to summer camp one year
and at the camp they had a stuffed goose statue in the cafeteria. i don't remember what they named it but they claimed the goose came alive at night and had us write letters to it. and the goose would write back to us
i know now it was just a fun game the counsellors were playing. but i was little and the fantasy was completely real to me. i believed in magic and santa and hadn't lost all my teeth yet.
i was distraught when the goose did not respond to my letter and later that day the counselors came and brought me to the goose case and showed me my "forgotten letter"
i wish it was possible to thank them for letting the kind makebelieve world persist. a nice safe world where you can write letters to a goose. crueler people would have shattered that fantasy when i was sad about my letter not being answered.
wish i could still exist in that safe world i lived in when they told me a letter had arrived for me and sat with me to watch me open it
i know now that they probably just accidentally forgot me, and wrote me a letter from the goose when they realized. its a human mistake and a human way to make up for it
but they made it special and it was still everything to me in that moment.
i wish the world was kinder to children
i wish letting a little girl believe in a letter writing goose wasnt such a high expectation to have.
