I’ve got fair skin, but my eyebags are pretty purple. Did the pinch test and it seems like it’s a lack of vitamin c, so what’s the best eye cream out there that you would recommend for if you’ve have/had this problem?
Edit: I’m 16F

2024.05.21 21:02 AwesomeNerd18 Is it risky to take supplements? Need help with several vitamin deficiencies

I have been having quite a bit of health issues and a while ago bloodwork showed I had 6 vitamin deficiencies -Iron, b9, b12, magnesium, vitamin d and vitamin c. I tried eating foods that could help but recent bloodwork showed my numbers has decreased so now my pcp wants me to start supplements. I know some supplements can be an issue for histamine intolerance so I don't know what to do or what to try. Does anyone have any supplement suggestions for B complex, Iron, Magnesium glycinate and vitamin d/c?

HELP my HG was discontinued
It’s finally happened to me…my Holy Grail PSA (from Allie’s of skin) Gifted Facial Oil was discontinued. This transformed my skin and was my ride or die. I’m not sure what exactly was in it that my skin loved. I’ve used The Ordinary, Good Molecules, Osea, and Wishful facial oils and nothing has compared. If y’all have any suggestions with similar ingredients or results pretty please. Some of the qualities I loved about this is it was ultra moisturizing, firming, aided with dark spots and blemishes, and soothing. It doesn’t HAVE to be Lux but cruelty free is a must for me

2024.05.21 20:48 Cat_person1981 Advice for really boosting hemoglobin count

I’m a consistent platelets donor at my local blood donation center, and for the past 10 weeks, my hemoglobin levels are too low to qualify to donate. I have tried taking iron supplements with vitamin C rich fruits and juices following it, eating iron rich foods with vitamin C, and tried looking into IV iron transfusions, but I am not anemic, so I don’t qualify for that. My practitioner said she can’t think of anything else to do to raise my hemoglobin levels. So I’m asking for other professional advice on this. What do you suggest, doctors?

I have fallen into a pretty comfortable routine where I use peptides in the morning and retinol at night.
I have no idea where to fit the vitamin c without it interacting with arigiline, matrixyl, and retinol.
Any tips?TIA!

Found on a nutritionist’s article about supplementing for carnivore diets
Sounds like carnivore bot has a competitor!
uj/ Many carnists commented negatively on this article that wasn’t even against carnivore diets. Apparently a nutritionist writing about the need to add vitamin C, boron, and fiber to a carnivore diet is enough to trigger responses of “this is propaganda, do your own research, their degree is worthless”

2024.05.21 19:53 windexcocktail696969 NSI Tips

Kind of a random thing to post but NSI season is back and I know that this time last year I was searching for some tips. If anyone finds this I was the girl who broke both her legs in Charlie 1 last year cycle 3. Anyways, here are some super random tips for those of you about to go.
  1. Feminine supplies, you can bring your own and you SHOULD, what they supply are tampons and overnight pads, they will not take them from you if you bring your own. Also put your hairbrush, hair ties, and gel in a similar bag to grab. They took my bag with my stuff in them and I was stranded with 2 hair ties until we got to go to the recruit store.
  2. Bring a backpack, not a duffel, not a suitcase. Just trust.
  3. Wear a polo and khaki pants, if you have a unit polo and belt even better. My unit did not tell me that and it really sucked to stick out like a sore thumb. If you're a girl come with your hair done.
  4. If you have longer hair get a donut bun or bun twisties, I used both but much preferred the twisties. They will not issue supplies to do your hair.
  5. When you shower (if you're female or just dirty) grab your display towel and put it inside of your rack, then grab another towel from the rack and use them, you will be on your period for random times, if you stain your white towel you're screwed. Leave a tampon in until after you shower or whatever.
  6. You wash your waterbottles with bleach, they will taste like pool water. You're not drinking bleach you're fine. Really scrub the creases with a bleach papertowel if you can, mold will start to grow in them by week 2, and will make you more sick than you already are.
  7. You WILL get sick. Try and take 1,500mg of vitamin C every day for a week before hand.
  8. Try and get moleskin early your feet will be torn up, layer it on everyday BEFORE you get blisters.
  9. Get the shoe insoles and extra cough drops, drip drop, and hair gel from the recruit store.
  10. They don't use (a lot of) salt to cook the food, layer it on you'll start to pass out due to lack of electrolytes.
  11. ONLY PETTY OFFICERS ARE ALLOWED TO SEE CHITS, don't get bullied into anything else and don't do anything outside of your chit if you get issued one, they are orders from the medical officers.
  12. If you get allergy medication only take it at night, it will make you drowsy all day and fall asleep during classes.
  13. Fix your uniform and the organization of your rack at night.
  14. Learn to count before you go, you know who you are people who can't.
  15. Journal what you learn and your experience, you'll enjoy it afterwards.
  16. Just turn your brain off like 80% of the day, don't think too much into anything, it's good if the petty officers and MIDN don't know your name for being stupid.
  17. Try not to get pink eye or covid or foot fungus or strep or whatever candidate crud is floating around.
  18. Don't give up, I broke my legs (8 stress fractures on my left and six on my right from distance running pre-NSI and a bad accident at NSI) and I was out there doing fire fighting on 5,000mg of ibuprofen to pass, it's not that bad I promise. Let the Hooyah lobotomy happen. Enjoy being a boot while at NSI.
  19. Don't try and get your family to see graduation, let them travel for your commission, NSI graduation is lame, you get to see them for 15 mins and then get loaded on a bus right after to be shipped home anyways, but if they're close go for it.
  20. If you like keepsakes make a 'yearbook' I took a page off of my legal page and had all of my friends sign it on the last night, with words of encouragement/fun stuff. I framed it and love to see it and all the memories.
  21. If you're not good at something ask someone to teach you at night, people will help you if you ask. It's important that you know how to drill. You don't want to be the reason your division is smoked.
  22. For you nervous folks the gas chamber will be the easiest thing you do. Stress about it the least.
  23. When I was there they wrote the daily schedule on the fishbowl whiteboard every night for the next day, it's a nice way to be in the know. They also put the shit list up there.
That's all I can think of for now. Comment any other tips/questions :)

2024.05.21 19:28 Which-Project222 To the Nay Sayers and Other Bums!

About a year ago, I posted in this sub asking if there were any reason Scribe's features couldn't be included in the Android/iPad app. I got a lot of dramatic descriptions about how hard it would be to translate those features to tablet for X, Y, and Z reasons. Something about a fighter jet and a VW?
In any case--it has been done! Huzzah!

And the Kobo handwriting looks way better than Scribe's sticky notes.

2024.05.21 19:04 Single-Security301 Today is my 1 month mark without a cluster headache!!!

Here are things that I’ve done differently in the last 4 weeks:
Migraine ice cap - As soon as I wake up and before I go to bed! I do it for about 30 min each time. Even if I don’t have a headache I still do it. If I feel a headache coming I put it on right away.
ICE! -If I start feeling a migraine on a side of my head I put ice on it. I rub the ice around my eye and temple until it melts.
I started taking Vitamin D supplements ( https://www.biotechpharmacal.com/products/d3-50-50-000-iu ) -it says one capsule once a week but I do one twice a week.
I started running! I jog 2 miles 4 days out of the week.
Coffee as soon as I wake up, redbull by noon and 6 bottle of waters a day! Yes I spend most of my time in the bathroom now but it’s worth it.
Eye massager from amazon! - I usually do this like once a week for 1 hour, so far so good. Downside is that I do end up blind for 10 minutes, and it only heats up which sucks because I prefer the cold.
I also bought a nasal spray for headaches, and oxygen flavored canister from Walmart. ( I haven’t tried the nasal spray yet, but the oxygen does help me with my breathing!)
I eat more fruit now usually strawberries and pineapple.
I try to get 7-8 hours of sleep.
I don’t know if this will help any of you but I hope it does, and I hope I continue to be cluster headache free! :)

2024.05.21 19:01 oneesama_ Soolantra/Ivermectin Cleared Seb Derm

Hi all.
I have been addicted to this Reddit since I was diagnosed with seb derm nearly 1 year ago. I would spend HOURS each week scouring the internet to find anything new I could try or what thing I should avoid to resolve my issues. I wanted to share my story with those out there who might be in a similar position I was in to offer guidance.
For a bit of back story/context - I had clear skin my entire life and never had any major issues aside from redness and occasional acne. I used a vitamin C serum a year and a half ago that destroyed my skin barrier. I tried everything possible to get my skin back to normal but nothing helped. I had white flakes from my temples to my mouth and my face constantly felt dry and tight. In areas around my nose and chin, I had small white sandpaper-like bumps that never went away. Before destroying my barrier, I had normal/oily skin that rarely needed moisturizer. I tried so many sensitive skin-safe moisturizers/serums but every single one broke me out or caused my face to become even more dry/flaky. I finally gave in after 8 months of struggling and went to a dermatologist who diagnosed me with seb derm. I was prescribed ketoconazole 2% shampoo, ketoconazole cream, and tacrolimus ointment. All of these things combined helped but it never fully went away. I still had flakes and dry patches all over my face. I kept reading about people who would say these products helped them and they only needed to use them during a "flare", but I never had flares, my skin was constantly irritated. After 2 months of little improvement my derm prescribed clotrimazole, but this did nothing for me. I went back to my dermatologist and was then diagnosed with perioral dermatitis and was prescribed metro cream. This, also, did absolutely nothing for me (I believe it was because I never actually had perioral derm). My last resort with my dermatologist was a 2-week course of doxycycline. After a few days, I still had the same tight/dry/flaky patches on my temples and mouth. After a week my skin was even more dry and I was experiencing the worst break out of my life. At this point, I cut every prescription ingredient out, started doing the bare minimum with my skin, and made an appointment with a different dermatologist. I threw out every product (which at this point, there wasn't much left) that touched my face/scalp that had any flagged ingredients on Sezia or included any SLS.
After doxycycline, I noticed my lash line was super itchy and I'd wake up with flakes on my eyelashes each morning. My skin was also breaking out every few weeks in painful, red, itchy bumps. My breakouts would be in places I never broke out and were very abnormal. Every time my skin would be clear for a week or 2, it would become irritated for the next week. I went to an allergist during this time to see if something I was eating/exposed to was causing my skin issues since I tried so many prescriptions without success. I mentioned the itchy eyelashes and abnormal skin problems and the allergist mentioned "could be Demodex" and didn't think anything else of it. I went down a Demodex rabbit hole after that appointment and learned about Soolantra/Ivermectin. My new dermatologist immediately prescribed Ivermectin 1% as soon as I explained my symptoms.
I'm on week 8 of 12 of Soolantra/Ivermectin. I've experienced minimal irritation or breakouts. My skin is the clearest it's been in nearly 2 years. I can finally put moisturizeproduct on my face and not break out. I can wear makeup without my skin looking like a flaky/patchy mess. I have no dryness/flakes. I am already so satisfied I can't wait to see where my skin ends up by the end of the 12 weeks. To anyone else who has tried so much or can't figure out why nothing works for them - consider asking your dermatologist about Demodex/Ivermectin.

2024.05.21 18:58 letsmoveup Candida Glabrata aka the devil

I wanted to share how I treated my C. Glabrata as Reddit was extremely helpful throughout my whole experience.
From the time I started having symptoms to almost complete resolution it has been 6 weeks. I started off with the typical fluconazole, I did 4 days of that and it didn’t work. Did Monistat 1 day since that has worked for me in the past and it made it more irritated. I was having a lot of pelvic pressure, burning, numbness, tingling, and couldn’t sit in certain positions because my pelvis was so inflamed.
I was prescribed brexafemme after my culture coming out positive for c. Glabrata but unfortunately brexafemme is under recall and according to a very kind pharmacist, he said it will not be in stock until July 7.
I was then given nystatin cream which was of course not nearly enough. I had already started taking the fem dophillus suppositories at this point and was on day 3. I was hopeful but unfortunately did not notice any changes in my symptoms. The gynecologist had suggested I continue on nystatin cream until brexafemme became available (absolutely not!!!).
I ended up seeing a different gynecologist who prescribed Terconazole vaginal cream 0.8 with applicator for 3 days. By the first day I had significant relief. I continued the probiotic intravaginally as well. By the end of the 3rd day of terconazole I no longer had pelvic pressure and pelvic discomfort but still had some mild itching at the vulva which I put nystatin on before bed and it helped significantly.
I transitioned to taking the fem dophillus orally. I also was taking zinc, vitamin D, oregano oil, and garlic extract.
I saw my doctor a 5 days after finishing terconazole. While still using nystatin. I no longer have symptoms. She prescribed me mycolog which is nystatin+triamcinolone mixed with A&D. As she said certain parts around the vulva are slightly irritated from all the medication I’ve been using but the vaginal canal did not have any irritation or signs of infection. I finally no longer have symptoms. I’m not sure I’m ready to wear spandex-like leggings yet but I was able to have sex which is a huge win. My culture comes sometime today or tomorrow and hopefully I will test negative. So fingers crossed.
Take aways: PLEASE switch doctors if your doctor is not listening to you. When I told the (first) gyno I saw that brexafemme was on back order, they suggested I wait until it’s back in stock and keep up with the nystatin. That is unacceptable.
Try not to go for the strongest medication first like amphotericin B or flucytosine, because if that doesn’t work, you’re prone to building further resistance and having even more limited options.
I did research on the “Candida diet” and although it all sounds promising, once glabrata has gotten out of hand, I’m not sure changing your diet is enough. I ended up not following through with it and was pretty determined on living my life by eating what I want.
I used 100% coconut oil for the areas that were very irritated, it gave relief but be careful with inserting it into the vaginal canal as it can cause burning because it heats up so quickly.
I am still taking oregano oil (under the tongue, it’s not pleasant), fem dophillus 15B, zinc, vitamin D, garlic extract, daily.
Last thing- although I did not try this myself, I saw recommendation for Tenitian Violet (source: Treating recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis, OBG Management volume 34. No. 11). I purchased it just incase but thankfully did not have to use it. Seems like it would be a reasonable topical options for the vulva.
I hope this brings insight to anyone going through C. Glabrata now. It was awful and feels hopeless but you will get through it. ❤️

2024.05.21 18:39 theobedientalligator Recommendations for healthcare worker

I’ve been working in healthcare for over a decade, and steadily through the pandemic. My immune system handled everything pretty well up until I moved to Florida. I’ve been here for a little under a year and I’ve been really sick 3 times already. First time was some unknown virus that had me coughing for a month. Second time was in February, I got Covid for my 4th time. Third time was a few weeks ago. A patient came in and breathed in my face telling me how sick she was. I ended up with influenza A, that devolved into bronchitis AND pneumonia. I ended up in the hospital in respiratory distress. Yes, I take precautions like masks and PPE when I’m aware a patient is sick and wash my hands between every patient. The problem comes when a patient knows they’re sick, and does nothing or says nothing and exposes me.
I’m looking for advice on supplements that will help support my immune system. Currently taking a daily multi, elderberry + zinc + vitamin c, vitamin b complex, folic acid, pro+postbiotics, vitamin d3+k2.
Anyways tl:dr: which supplements are you taking to support your immune system?

2024.05.21 18:11 Exact_Analysis2272 High base level on cgm, was it vitamin c?

Its my 5-6 time using a cgm. Im prediabetic, but my numbers are always pretty stable and predictable.
My base line is usually low 90s or high 80. When I started this new sensor it was around 90, but I ate a meal a few hours later, and my blood sugars havent gone down from 115 since. Even through the night.
Its been about 24 hours since I put the sensor on, so it should be adjusted.
I had a pill of vitamin C, 1000 mg before the reading shot up.
Any chance this is the issue? Will my body clear the vitamin c and will the reading go back down?
I also have some back pain, might this be affecting the reading because of physical stress?
Any ideas? I ran out of strips to test my fingers but will do that if the readings don’t go back down in a day or so! Im curious if anyone has had this problem, or any ideas? Thank you!

2024.05.21 18:06 gabrielino098 Vitamin C deficiency

I've been on the carnivore diet for a few years. Everything is going well. But I've noticed that I get bruised easily. When I wear a watch, or workout, or wear tight socks, I notice my skin looks red. I've heard that this may be due to my body needing vitamin C.
For those of you who have experienced similar issues, have you seen any improvements after you began to supplement with vitamin C? If so, how much vitamin C did you take, and how long did it take to see a change?

2024.05.21 17:39 Final-Expression8058 Urologist suggests Clomid, thoughts?

Hello everyone thanks for reading
I’ve had a follow up consultation with my urologist who has suggested clomid to hopefully increase my sperm levels enough to where we can bank some.
Bit of background I’ve had one testicle removed at the age of 3 due to undescended testicles, got Low T, the recent tests show 9.2 nmol, FSH is 14.5 and LH 15.2 and sperm count is 1mil. I’m 24 and not trying to conceive at this point but would like to plan ahead.
Since our last consultation 4 weeks ago I’ve started taking proxeed, fish oil, zinc, ashwagandha, ubiquinol, vitamin c, citrus bergamot and lycopene daily.
Urologist suggests putting me on clomid for 3 months to hopefully increase sperm count for banking as my one remaining testicle is struggling with increased levels as is. Questions are, would clomid do much for me and is there another way of bringing my count up naturally?

Hi Team,
I have been trying to hard to find out to see if the following is advisable to use as routines:
AM After Squalene Cleanser: Salicyclic acid from Geek and Gorgeous, Vitamin C from Natrium, Niacinamide from TO, and Oil Control Moisturizer with SPF 30 from Cetaphil Pro.
The new addition to this routine is the Salicyclic Acid to AM. Is this fine to continue?
PM After Squalene Cleanser: Agirilene & Matrixyl from TO, Niacinamide from TO, Retinal 0.1% from Geek and Gorgeous, Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
Is this ok, or am I applying too much in the PM?
Thank you!

2024.05.21 16:44 ingredientsonline How Ascorbic Acid USP Enhances Your Skincare Routine

Vitamin C, also known as Ascorbic Acid USP, is a highly effective ingredient that can greatly improve your skincare routine. It has powerful antioxidant properties that protect the skin from harmful environmental factors like UV radiation and pollution, which can cause premature aging and damage. Additionally, Ascorbic Acid USP stimulates collagen production, a vital protein that maintains the skin's elasticity and firmness. By promoting collagen synthesis, it can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin, resulting in a smoother and more youthful complexion.
Furthermore, Ascorbic Acid USP can brighten the skin by inhibiting melanin production, helping to fade dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. This brightening effect gives the skin a radiant and luminous appearance, improving overall complexion clarity.
Moreover, Ascorbic Acid USP has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for soothing redness and irritation associated with conditions like acne or rosacea. It also helps repair and protect the skin's natural barrier function, improving moisture retention and hydration levels.
Incorporating Ascorbic Acid USP into your skincare routine offers numerous advantages, including antioxidant protection, collagen stimulation, brightening effects, and anti-inflammatory properties, all of which contribute to healthier and more radiant skin.
