2024.05.18 00:23 BlueGreenTrails Does this seem reasonable?

Does this seem reasonable?
I stopped going to the dealership a couple of years ago because I always felt like the prices were extreme. I usually get my basic maintenance done at AAA auto care. I recently noticed a humming sound and had them do diagnostics and it turned out to be the wheel bearing. The wheel bearing and hub assembly had to be replaced. They charged me $858 which included alignment and the diagnostic fee. I know it's too late to do anything about what I paid if too much but it's just bugging me... Did I pay too much? I'm in Georgia. Also, if you know of a good Veloster mechanic north of Atlanta (Marietta Woodstock Alpharetta area), I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

2024.05.12 18:53 cbschrader Considering trading from 2022 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 to 2022/23 KTM 890 Duke

I know I’m in the KTM subreddit, but that’s on purpose because I’m looking to be convinced to do it. I like my Speed Twin, but over the last couple of years I’ve realized that I want something a bit sportier. I really love the look of the 790/890 Dukes.
So here’s my dilemma. I really would rather not sell the Triumph on my own. I’ve never done that before and it seems stressful having to worry about being scammed. I also have a lien holder, which I’m guessing complicates a personal sale.
Also, there’s a local non-KTM dealer near me offering me $8,000 for my bike on a trade on a mint 2022 890 Duke (non-R version with only 750 miles) for $8,900 plus fees and tax. I really wanted the Duke R but the KTM dealers near me are lowballing me on the trade for their new 2022/2023 890 Duke Rs. They say because they don’t sell Triumphs, they have to give wholesale price.
So as KTM lovers, do you think getting the used 890 Duke would be good enough, or should I wait for a deal on a new or used 890 Duke R? I’m not 100% set on the 890. It just seemed like it was the best for money and that is the limit I set for what I want to spend. I only ride on the road and will never go on a track if that makes a difference. I just like to have fun when I ride, and I think a Duke will be my answer for that. Thanks for any advice or help!

2024.05.10 12:28 B-SchoolHunter The Great GLIM Scam.

Greetings all, sure hope y'all are doing well. I would like to address a common misconception y'all have w.r.t this supposed B school called Great Lakes Institute of Management , and I would like you to know the particulars of this college before you join it, both for their PGPM as well as PGDM program. I would be talking with respect to the PGPM program, which they claim it to be their flagship course. But the reality is far more grim as compared to what their paid campaigners are showing you on Instagram.
Mr Lakhamraju is addressing the the '25 cohort by saying that we don't encourage companies with packages lower than 12 LPA on campus, but the fact is that this year most of the packages that have come on campus were in the range of 8-12. Companies like Virtusa and TCS are some examples of such low packages, and the fact that they charge you a whopping 21+ lakhs for this course is beyond my comprehension, especially what they will give you is a Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM), not an MBA. They can brand themselves as PGPM all they want, but in reality this would be the most expensive certificate you have ever paid for in your life.
The Placement cell is another joke, they have no coordination with what is happening on the academic frontier. Previous batches had sessions on learning python, R and advanced Excel. This year, they did nothing, as the 15 day period before classes began a.k.a term 0 was all about students loitering about on campus. They taught us nothing with respect to learning skills that were actually essential for interviews, and most of us had to purchase courses to learn a lot of those skills.
The placement team, which is known as CCS on the Chennai Campus, is another joke. These people don't know the basics of how to reach out companies , as all they have learned is how to cold call companies, nothing else. They don't know how to build active relationships. They bring irrelevant opportunities on campus, and when students aren't able to crack those opportunities, they start blaming the students and threatening them that no further opportunities will be given to them. In a batch of 230 ish people, 20 ish are still unplaced from the PGPM batch, and 25ish from the DM batch. For the cohort of 25, they are planning to increase the batch size to 350+. God bless all those gullible students who are going to GLIM Chennai to seek a better life, as the only transformational journey that they are capable of doing is to convert you from middle class to poor.
The full time faculty for operations are a disgrace to teaching. These people don't know how to teach, and to kill time they simply licence simulation softwares and play games in class on those softwares for several classes, nobody knows jackshit about supply chains in general in a course named Supply Chain Management. The visiting faculty however, are really good.
These folks over at CCS will force y'all from day 1 to go and sit in company PPT's even if the role is irrelevant for your profile. They mark attendance for every event, and if you're not attending the session, they will threaten you to kick you out of the placement process. Even after sitting diligently for all sessions, I know several people who are still unplaced and not been given the opportunities they deserve. They are following a singling out strategy where the IT guys who are easier to place are given 30-40 opportunities, while the folks coming from diverse backgrounds are intentionally kept out of the process so that after placing a bunch of IT guys, they can conveniently force y'all to opt out of placements, rendering you worthless and jobless in the blink of an eye.
The companies which they are bringing are 85% startups, where they are intentionally inflating packages by including components like joining bonus, retention bonus, insurance and what not. So some companies with say a 20 LPA CTC will actually give you less than 80k in hand after cutting taxes. These are for those people who are fortunate enough to get a job, the unfortunate ones linger on and the placement team do not care one bit about such folks as they have placed 85% folks from IT. They have kicked out sabbatical peeps from groups and after kicking them out 20 odd are still left. Most of the great Faculty like Dr Easwar Krishna Iyer from marketing have all left this college for much better opportunities, and CCS has this superiority complex that they are the Godfather of students and also their saviours, where in reality they are slow poisoning the lives of students throughout the placement process.
I forgot to mention that during the initial days, these people had admitted a mad psychopath/drug addict onto the premises in term 0. His name was Himan**u, and he used to terrorise the campus for the initial 10 days. Administration didn't care one bit until things got out of hand and he started biting people and light them on fire. The administration closed down the matter, but it was a scary time to live in, especially since these guys only care about counting money, nothing else.
Many people are joining companies that are paying lesser than their Pre MBA salaries, many people are settling for 8LPA jobs after paying 21+ lakhs, and they even had the audacity to bump up the fees this year. Many people, sadly, are still waiting for CCS Mahadeva to actually start doing their job for a change. There were people who were contemplating suicide in the latter half, when companies were simply not coming and what these incompetent placement cell were doing was to sit on their sorry a** and cold call here and there. The placement director is the only one who probably tries to get something done, others are simply worthless who aren't any better than the clerical class.
It is not an MBA program by any stretch of your imagination, as it can still be an extension to your IT undergrad degree. Even after that, these people have the audacity to increase diversity, where in reality they are not even competent enough to place their IT folks, let alone the diverse peeps. The Branding committee is forcing that one guy on campus who got a finance role to say out loud on camera that many finance companies come on campus, when in reality, there's absolutely nothing. Companies are coming on campus not to test your B school knowledge, but you are made to write lines in R and Python to qualify rounds. They are paying YouTubers like Inside IIM and Catking ; yeah right Catking of all people to promote this scam that is happening in the name of education. Whatever little respect I had for the college went away post that in incident.
The most shady thing that CCS has done is that they hadn't disclosed that there is a cap of 10 companies to which you can apply, and they disclosed this document in January when the majority had exhausted their 10 attempts. They used to ask us all to keep on applying, but when the day came they started shouting at us that we didn't have the audacity to ask them about future companies because we had exhausted our limit of attempts. Moreover, most of the companies who came on campus conducted interviews and later on when they found out it's a one year MBA, they simply abandoned the process and left. Companies on Campus aren't recognising a one year program, imagine those folks who aren't even supported by the placement cell because of their egoistic outlook towards their students. The only one year program most of these corporates recognise is an ISB, the only good thing that GLIM has done is that they have spent heavily on marketing, thereby entrapping gullible students like you and me to fall for their trap, eventually ending up losing everything.
In Conclusion, from what I've heard, these people are planning to change their positioning from analytics to a proper MBA curriculum, and they are taking many non IT folks in this year's cohort. To every non IT guy planning to join the PGPM program, if you have money to burn please do so. But don't expect any support from this so called placement cell at GLIM. You would be stuck in the crossfire, and eventually you'll end up committing financial suicide. Don't blindly consume information that these supposed B schools throw at you, Sabdhan Rahiye, Satark Rahiye.
The only purpose of the PGPM program is that you can be unemployed 1 year earlier, after paying 15-20% more fees as compared to the regular PGDM program. Beware of wannabe Tier 2's Trying to be Tier 1's in the market. Take care y'all.

2024.05.10 00:25 lugnutlou Acceptable for lienholder to sign title directly?

Hi all, I’m in an odd position here and looking for help. Thank you for reading this as it might be lengthy.
So I am buying a car off someone. He purchased the car through his LLC years ago (who he is the CEO and owner of) for business/tax reasons and is paid off already. His real name is listed as registered owner. However, lienholder (his LLC) is still listed on title even tho it is paid off. I am trying to buy it through financing and my credit union told me that the DMV told the credit union that the form REG-166 (lien satisfied form) needs to be filled out and notarized saying LLC has no interest in car. He has legal documentation (certificate of information) showing him as the owner and CEO of the LLC.
Credit union won’t give me a loan since DMV is requesting the REG-166 form.
When I buy the car, I would give him the check (made out to the lienholder LLC business listed on title - not him personally), and he was going to sign the title on the behalf of the LLC company name and countersign his real name. Shouldn’t this be allowed if he owns the LLC listed as the lienholder on the title and is essentially signing off interest in the car?
TLDR: Can a lienholder listed on the car title sign off directly on the title when selling the car to someone (car is paid off just lienholder is still listed)? I appreciate all responses.

2024.05.09 16:59 Infamous-Lab-8136 Mother died in Colorado with no will, do I need a lawyer for her house?

My mother died some time the week after Christmas at home. We found her 12/29/2023 so that is the official date of death. She was 72, had a long history of illness, and it was not unexpected. No complications with the death certificate or life insurance, it was paid out in less than 2 weeks after filing a claim.
I am her only child, as she was for my grandparents. She has no other potential heirs or siblings, and both her parents are long dead. She divorced my father just shy of 40 years ago. I have a quit claim to take his name off the house once it is paid in full, she did about 5 years ago. No liens or other claims have been made. I paid her property taxes today so the only fees associated with her property are current too.
When she died the funeral home made it sound like all I should need is her title/deed, possibly that quit claim, and her death certificate and that should be sufficient to put the house in my name. However calling the county they told me I'll need to contact a lawyer to get my name onto the deed somehow and then I can put it fully in my name. I'd like to just sell the house, I don't intend to live there or want the hassle of renting it out. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

2024.05.08 00:57 Reconquista1212 Did I get scammed by a charity foundation guy at my university campus(continued)

My post got removed because it showed the guy, but it was basically a photo of his certification/badge. If you guys see my post history, it might still be there for you to see. But basically, I donated to little Saint Nick’s foundation, using my debit card and they also scanned my drivers license. I know I messed up, but can anyone please verify if I’m in trouble or in danger of being scammed? They said this donation was tax deductible, and that they would send me a tax deductible form later on. They also showed me on their form that this was a one time donation, just to clarify it’s not monthly.

2024.05.04 19:12 Fluffy-Seaweed-8875 Car title situation

Burner account!
So I have a weird situation where I do not know what the hell to do with the car that I have after bankruptcy. I'm wondering if someone knows anything I can do to either get rid of it, sell or keep it. Any advice would be great. (Already spoke to a few lawyers and they were quite literally useless and told me they don't know what to do due to the unique nature of the situation.)
Note: This is in Texas.
Here's the situation:
  1. I purchased a Tesla some time ago with a loan from Navy Federal Credit Union.
  2. I lost my job, and was not able to pay for the taxes, which means the title was never sent to Navy Federal Credit Union.
  3. I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and got all of my debts discharged including the Tesla.
  4. Months go by, Navy Federal never picks up the car. Out of confusion, I called Navy Federal and they let me know that they never received the title for the car, therefore, they are unable to pick up the car because they were technically never the owner nor the lien holder because a title is required for the lein. The representative let me know that there's nothing they can do and the car is charged off, free and clear and I can do what I please with the car.
The problem arises...
  1. All of my documentation has Navy Federal on the documentation when they are no longer the lien holder and they have clearly told me they cannot accept the car anymore.
  2. I call Tesla to see if I can get the documents changed. They say maybe, weeks go by, nothing happens. I call back and I'm told that they cannot do anything and that Navy Federal would need to provide a "LIEN RELEASE" , me: okay got it, I'll get that for you!
  3. I call Navy Federal and request a lien release, 2 weeks go by, crickets... I call again and ask what the hold up is. They let me know it's not possible to send a lien release when they never had a lien on the vehicle to begin with since they never received the title.
  4. I call Tesla and let them know of the situation. They let me know that there's nothing they can do, they need a letter that states that Navy Federal no longer owns the car. Me: OKAY GOT IT! Ill call them...again...
  5. I call Navy Federal and ask them for this piece of paper. They said they will send it... another 2 weeks go by, crickets AGAIN... I call to see what's up. They tell me that nothing like this has ever happened and they don't have a letter that they can provide me that says this because they don't have anything like that. Me: What the heck am I supposed to do....
  6. I call Tesla and let them know the situation again, they told me to just go and register it... ME: okay, ill try..
  7. Months go by, I save up to be able to just register the car, my apartment complex recently complained that my registration is expired and they are threatening to tow my car in a few weeks if I don't get it taken care of *PANIC MODE INITIATED!!*
  8. I ended up losing my documents and had new documents sent over 2 times. First time it didn't arrive , the second time I picked it up from the Tesla service center, that was today.
  9. I rushed over to the Tax office(DMV) to pay the tax on the car and get this thing registered.....welllllll.... the Certificate of Origin still has Navy Federal on it. They let me know there's no way they can register the car unless a new certificate of origin is provided to me by you guys without Navy Federal. Me: AHHHHH
  10. I call Navy federal again, hoping, pleading, begging, for them to give me a solution... I told them they need to take the damn car or give me a solution to the problem, they said they couldn't take the car and still can't provide me with an official letter or anything like that. They told me I can try messaging them on the app and the response of the representative acta as proof that they are no longer interested parties in the car, no longer own the car, no longer want the car, cannot take the car.
  11. I got a higher up at Tesla involved and they couldn't help either. This car is stuck in this weird Limbo where the Navy federal won't pick it up because they charged it off, Tesla can't help me with anything, I can't register it. No one can do anything about it which is why I figured I'd sell this thing for parts since I don't want it sitting in my parking lot anymore.
  12. I got the state of texas involved and they sent me over to someone who deals with special situations and he also didn't know what to do.
I'm at a loss guys lmao. Halp

2024.05.02 00:50 Strict_Bus_8130 Tax lien certificate filing in Missouri?

Hi all,
I would love to ask for advice on tax liens.
I accidentally found a fixer upper where the owner seems to be deceased. No utilities, and as far as I can see no intrafamily transfers or heirs.
Property taxes have been unpaid for 2 years.
Does anyone have experience of paying them online, filing tax lien certificate and later taking possession?
Thanks!

I am blindsided. I get some weird text from a tax liens solutions thing saying my property is up for tax sale. Lo and behold I look up my property on the county website and it is in auction. I check and see that there is outstanding balance my mortgage company didn’t pay.
Edit: my mortgage website doesn’t seem to have anything wrong with it. When I look up outstanding fees on the county website it says I have 10k I haven’t paid. I’m so confused. I am really good about paying taxes. Is this just a scam?

2024.04.29 17:46 MrPBH Should a realtor know about liens and back taxes on a property?

Simple question: should a realtor know if a property they are selling has liens or back taxes?
I asked a realtor this question and they told me: "I can't know. We can't know until you do a title search at closing."
This really bothered me, so I stopped the conversation. I can't find an answer using Google. I searched the property on the county tax collector website and there are no results for taxes paid as far back as online records go (2017).
I feel like someone is trying to pull something, but I don't know enough to know what the particular scam is.
EDIT: Thank you all, you answered my question. To summarize--commenting on the state of the title can be considered the practice of law. Thus, realtors will avoid making statements about the status of a title.

2024.04.25 21:22 CampingWorld How to Sell a Used RV

You might think selling a used RV is easy, but it can be a real pain as a private seller. From repairs to advertising to negotiating the terms of a sale, there’s a lot to consider if you’re selling a motorhome or travel trailer on your own.
Luckily, there are resources to help you sell a used RV and ways to improve your RV’s resale value so you can get the best return possible. Let’s discuss best practices for selling a used RV or trailer.

Why Sell Your Used RV?

Maybe your RV is starting to feel cramped, and you’re ready for a larger RV. In this case, you might consider trading in your RV in search of a new unit. Trading in at Camping World allows you to deduct the value of your trade-in from the taxes owed on a new unit.
Possibly you’re concerned about winterizing your RV and storing it properly. Or you want your RV off your hands so you can focus on other things. Consigning your RV can be a good option in this case, as your RV can live at a Camping World dealership until it sells, at which point they write you a check minus a consignment fee.
Or maybe life circumstances are making RV adventures difficult for you right now. You can sell your RV and get a check in hand to spend on whatever you wish, although you don’t get the tax benefits that come with trading your RV. If you do sell outright, you can always rent an RV down the road.
Whatever your motivation, Camping World has options to help.

Why Sell a Used RV Now?

Now is a great time to sell a used RV. The higher prices of new RVs are making more people consider the benefits of a used RV. Plus, so many folks have tried RVing for the first time in recent years, and they’re hooked.
Several factors may be responsible for the uptick in RV popularity, but one thing is important to remember as a seller: when demand outpaces supply, it is a great time to sell a used RV.

How Hard is it to Sell a Used RV?

If you’re willing to price your RV at or below its listed value and market it aggressively, you should sell it fairly quickly. However, that will depend on the year, make, model, and condition of your motorized or towable RV.
Advertising in popular places like Craiglist or Facebook Marketplace can speed up sales. But these marketplaces often come with casually interested buyers that waste your time or, in the worst cases, are outright scams.
When selling your RV yourself, you’ll also be responsible for the legwork required to prepare your RV for sale. You’ll need to be available to show your RV to prospective buyers, and this could eat into your personal time. Plus, you’ll have to handle all the necessary documentation on your own, and ensuring this is done correctly can be a headache.
That’s why many used RV owners opt to sell, consign, or trade-in their RV.
Selling your RV to a Camping World dealership gives you cash in hand. Consigning means
Trading in your RV at Camping World allows you to take money off your next RV purchase with Camping World so you can start shopping for an upgrade, assuming you don’t owe anything on the RV you’re trading in versus the unit you’re purchasing.

How to Determine the Value of your RV

Many factors impact your RV’s resale value but accessing real-time data that influences your sale price is a challenge for private sellers. That’s why you can utilize the Good Sam RV valuator to check your RV’s value in seconds.
The valuator tool pulls the latest demand trends from your local marketplace and data from new and used RV wholesale pricing. It combines that data with its own proprietary dataset, which includes unique, vintage, and customized RVs, to provide an accurate value for your RV.
Learning the value of your RV is the logical first step, whether you’re selling privately or to a local dealership. But if you decide to consign with Camping World, which offers a nationwide network of dealerships, the valuator tool is even more beneficial.
You can use it to assess your RV’s value across all markets in the US. So if you consign your RV with Camping World, they can transport your RV to buyers in other markets and sell it faster for you where demand is high.
To find the value of your RV using the Good Sam RV Valuator, you’ll need the year, make, model, trim, number of slides, and condition of your RV. Once you submit that info, a specialist will be in contact with a quote range.
Use the Good Sam RV Valuator to find the value of your used RV today.

Selling Private

Selling your RV privately avoids a dealership consignment commission. As a private seller, you’ll receive the full sale price, but there are downsides to selling an RV yourself. Here are a few things you’ll need to consider as a private seller.

Selling on Consignment

Selling a used RV on consignment means entering a relationship with another party to help you sell. This party is usually a local dealer that keeps the RV on their property, advertises for you, and receives a share of the sale price when a deal is finalized.
Here are the main benefits of selling a used RV on consignment with Camping World:
Of course, selling on consignment means you’ll pay a commission to the dealer. Consider the time and hassle that fee is paying for. Other potential costs include consignment insurance, RV prep and cleaning, and any required repairs before your RV can be listed.
Once you sign a contract with a consignment dealer, you can’t sell your RV anywhere else, and you won’t be able to use it while it’s being advertised.

Selling Directly to the Dealership

If you’re looking to sell your RV quickly, making a deal directly with a dealership can be your best bet. Go around and get quotes from several dealers in your area.
Camping World will give you $1,000 cash if they can’t match a price provided by another dealer.*
They’ll also cut you an immediate check if your RV is valued under $30,000. So you’ll have cash in hand to put toward your next RV.
These are just a few ways Camping World makes buying and selling RVs smooth and efficient so you can get back on the road for your next adventure as quickly as possible.

Trading In Your RV

Trading in your RV allows you to deduct the value of your used RV from any taxes owed on a new or used unit. The offer you receive from a dealership largely depends on how well you’ve cared for your used RV over the years.
When you bring your used RV to trade it in at Camping World, a representative will perform an RV walkaround with you. This process is designed to uncover things like delamination, worn tires, and anything else that can decrease the value of your trade-in.
That’s why it benefits you to complete repairs and thoroughly clean your used RV to prep it for a trade-in. The list of recommended repairs varies, but some items to consider include replacing torn screens, replacing worn parts or components, and testing electrical outlets for proper voltage.

Selling an RV With a Title

Selling an RV with a title is the easy way to go. When you’ve found your buyer, you’ll need to complete a transfer of title, bill of sale, and any other documentation required in your state. Upon finalizing your sale, you should complete your release of liability as soon as possible.
When selling privately, it’s a good idea to accept cashier’s checks or certified bank checks. This allows your bank to check with the issuing financial institution to ensure the check’s validity. Check with your bank before executing a sale on their procedure for verifying checks and complete your transaction during regular banking business hours.
NEVER hand over the title until the funds have been received, and ensure the buyer signs both the title and the bill of sale upon receipt of payment.
Whether selling with or without a title, most states legally require sellers to disclose any major accidents or issues with their RV. Withholding information simply opens you up to a potential lawsuit down the line.

Selling an RV Without a Title

It’s still legally possible to sell your RV if you’ve misplaced your title. You will need to obtain a replacement title from your local DMV by filling out a title application and paying the required fee.
You can mail your title application to your local DMV, who will check to ensure they can issue a new title. Their checks include ensuring the vehicle isn’t stolen and checking your title has no pending legal issues. They will also check that your RV meets all state vehicle requirements, such as weight checks and emissions testing.
From there, you’ll need three other pieces of documentation for a replacement or bonded title:
You’ll need to take your title application, these three documents, your driver’s license, and any required application fee to your local DMV to be issued a replacement title.
But remember that each state’s DMV has unique requirements. So consult your local office before scheduling an appointment for a replacement RV title.

Ні,
We received this letter and update from USCIS. We realized that my husband's last year's income was around $500 less than what was actually required. It was because he started his new job at the end of March and did not have work during January and February.
In the notice, it says that one of the acceptable evidence of assets are : • Bank statements covering the last 12 months (statements will be averaged over a 12 month period) or a statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which the sponsor has deposits, the account balance averaged over a 12 month period, and current balance;
• Evidence of ownership, value, and dates acquired of stocks, bonds, and certificates of deposit;
• Evidence of ownership, value/equity, and dates acquired of other personal property;
• Evidence of ownership, a recent licensed appraisal or county tax assessment, any mortgage/lien or lien release of any real estate, and dates acquired.
We can provide the last 12 months of statements. Should this be enough since we were only lacking $500? Please help. Thank you!
