2024.05.19 07:19 Inner_Still Should I ask her out as a relationship

Hi, I know it's awkward to talk about my love life so I'll make this quick. I have this girl I liked since from sec 2 until now (I'm 19m btw). I'm not too sure if I should confess because we're both close friends and I don't want to lose our friend relationship but I feel like we could go to further heights with our friendship between each other. Currently our relationship right now is as close friends we both don't need to text each other every day. We're more of the low maintenance people who's ok with texting every few days or so. She's not giving out any like straight signs that she likes me in a relationship way, but she did send me a sticker of a ring last time. When I asked her what it's for she said it was for nothing so I'm not too sure what that means? We do go out for movie outings and went to Halloween horror night together and did other things as a duo together. So I'm not too sure what I should do currently. Any advice would help thanks!

2024.05.19 00:45 MorganRose78 Ravensbrook pt. 1

In the small town of Ravensbrook, there was an old tale whispered among the children and shunned by the adults. It was about the Witch of Briar Hollow, a story meant to scare misbehaving kids, but the truth was more sinister than any legend.
Eliza Blackwood was a recluse who lived deep in the woods, in a house that seemed to blend into the shadows. Her presence was marked by an eerie quietness that settled over the trees when she was near. She had no visitors, and the only sign of life were the crows that circled her home.
One autumn, a group of teenagers, eager for a thrill, dared each other to visit Eliza’s house on Halloween night. They gathered at the edge of Briar Hollow as the sun dipped below the horizon, turning the sky into a bruised palette of purples and blacks.
Armed with flashlights and false bravado, they made their way through the dense forest, the path becoming less distinct with each step. The trees seemed to close in around them, and the air grew thick and still. Finally, they saw it—the crooked, weather-beaten house of Eliza Blackwood.
Despite their nerves, they pushed forward, each step crunching on the dead leaves like a chorus of whispered warnings. The door, surprisingly, was ajar, as if expecting visitors. They stepped inside, the floorboards creaking under their weight. The house was dark, the air stale, filled with the scent of herbs and something unidentifiable.
In the dim light of their flashlights, they saw jars lining the shelves, filled with strange, twisted roots and things they couldn’t name. An old, leather-bound book lay open on a table, its pages covered in indecipherable symbols.
Suddenly, the door slammed shut, plunging them into darkness. Their flashlights flickered and died. Panic set in as they fumbled to find their way out. But the house seemed to shift, the walls closing in, the air growing colder.
A voice, soft and raspy, filled the room. “You seek to mock me, children?”
They turned towards the voice, and there she was—Eliza Blackwood. Her eyes were dark pits, her skin as pale as the moonlight that struggled to seep through the boarded windows. She moved with an unnatural grace, her feet barely touching the ground.
“Do you know what happens to those who trespass?” she whispered, her voice like the rustling of dead leaves.
Before they could respond, the room filled with an oppressive force. The air grew thick and heavy, pressing down on their chests. They tried to scream, but no sound came out. One by one, they fell to the ground, unconscious.
When they awoke, they were no longer in the house but scattered across the forest floor, as if they had been thrown from the place. Dazed and terrified, they ran back to town, vowing never to speak of what happened.
But the encounter had left its mark. Over the following days, strange things began to occur. One by one, the teenagers vanished, leaving no trace. The townspeople whispered of Eliza’s curse, of how she claimed those who disturbed her peace.
Years passed, and the tale of the Witch of Briar Hollow became a cautionary legend once more. But the townspeople knew the truth—that deep in the woods, Eliza Blackwood still watched, still waited, and those who dared to seek her out would never return.
And sometimes, on a quiet night, if you listen closely, you can hear the whispers of the lost souls, warning others to stay away from Briar Hollow, where the witch’s curse still lingers, and her hunger for vengeance remains unsatisfied.

2024.05.18 23:22 Crikey---Moses The Trailblaze travels along almost every Path, and in direct confrontation with only one, The Destruction.

Hear me out! Its a fun thought experiment! (sorry for the long post but please give it a look!)
I'll first discuss the Trailblazes similarities with the other Paths, and then get into the nitty gritty of what my theory of the story is.
Beware of minor spoilers for 2.2 this point onwards!
The Hunt is all about justice for those that are unjust, begetting violence with violence, as we've seen with the Xianzhou and recently with the Galaxy Rangers.
The Trailblaze, doesn't stand for injustice when they see it, and will always help those seeking aid even if it means getting mixed up into political extremes, or beyond arctic temperatures. And the Express has no qualms with using violence to do just that, if all else fails.
___
The Harmony is all about, well, harmony with others, peace and happiness with all people. The strong helping the weak and all coming together as one, Harmonious Choir.
The Trailblaze, seeks to connect to all cultures, and interact peacefully, and with kindness, and always help those struggling.
___
The Finality is all about how everything will come to an end, no matter what or where.
The Trailblaze, is a journey across the whole universe, with an abundance of passengers getting on and getting off when their Trailblaze comes to an end. Even, eventually, the Astral Express itself will end on its final stop some day.
___
The Erudition is all about intelligence, the discovery of new knowledge, and the innate truth that everything has an answer.
The Trailblaze, stops at endless words, discovering endless new knowledge and sharing their own knowledge with new cultures. Undoubtedly creating new discoveries, and answering endless questions.
___
The Nihility is all about how nothing matters. Simple as that.
The Trailblaze, in my opinion, is a perfect representation of what Optimistic Nihility is. Nothing matters, so it doesn't matter if I journey across the stars until I've seen it all. People end up on the Astral Express for a variety of reasons, but a lot of them I'd bet arrive there on accident, without intent and purpose. That is what IX is really, a blob of condensed matter, aimlessly drifting through space with no intent or purpose.
___
The Preservation is all about protecting and defending.
The Trailblaze, never hesitates to defend to weak, and to sacrifice even their own lives in the pursuit of protecting those who need protection. We've seen this directly in the story plenty already. Dan Heng was invited on the Astral Express despite the danger he holds as being wanted by the Xianzhou, and Himeko and Welt have shown beyond doubt they would do anything they can to protect all three of the Express kids.
___
The Voracity is about endless hunger, never satisfied.
The Trailblaze, is all about an endless hunger for adventure, with no sign of ever being satisfied without seeing it all.
___
The Remembrance is all about memories and the keeping of history.
The Trailblaze, creates endless amazing memories, memories of endless different worlds and people. Not to mention the databank on the express, keeping endless records of the expresses travels and everything they've seen.
___
The Beauty is all about everything that is beautiful. A very self explanatory path, yet full of mystery.
The Trailblaze, is an endless joyride to see the endless beauty of the universe, beyond the stars to new worlds.
___
The Propagation, ignited out of a desire born from loneliness. This path is a bit more complicated, and one of my personal favourites lore-wise. Its about the creation of more, to spread.
The Trailblaze, travels through the universe, blazing paths through the cosmos so that no world needs be alone again. The crew coming and going, propagating across the universe.
___
The Enigmata is all about fiction and uncertainty. There is no certainty in life and the Enigmata would seek to Mirage and and Change truth, in order for people to find endless possibilities in legends and story.
The Trailblaze, has certainly created some legends and stories themselves. On Penacony, the whole of its history was created and concealed through the actions of crew members of the Astral Express. Every where the crew goes, people know of the Express' name, and tell stories of the Trailblaze, likely changed with time.
___
The Abundance is all about nurturing life. THEY cannot bear to see death and the pains of illness. Ask with sentiment, and you shall receive.
The Trailblaze certainly fits the mark. The crew have gone out of their way to help those with illness before, and saved many from death. I do not see a world where someone needing help asks the Express for it, and the Crew denying them that help. This is the essence of the Abundance.
___
The Equilibrium is all about balance and stability in all things.
The Trailblaze have already brought balance to two whole worlds in the short time that our MC has been aboard the Express. Sealing Stellarons is almost the exact definition of maintaining balance and stability.
___
And lastly the very special case, The Destruction.
This is the one that doesn't fit the bill. The Trailblaze would never seek the destruction of anything. The entire point of the Trailblaze is to explore and connect the Universe that Nanook seeks to destroy. The Trailblaze is at direct odds with The Destruction, the perfect antithesis of one another. There is no room for both Paths in the Imaginary Tree and this is likely to be the conflict of the whole story.
We've already been at direct odds with the Destruction as early as our very first memory as the MC. The attack of the Herta Space Station, the Stellaron on Jarillo, the Emanator on the Loufu, and the Stellaron on Penacony.
We as the Trailblazer have been collecting the Aeons gazes, and I believe this has been possible because of the Trailblazes connection to every other path in some way, shape, or form. Not to mention it seems we've been basically genetically modified to be able to do so from what we've gathered.
The Stellaron Hunters goal is the End of The Destruction. I believe we have been made with the power of Finality to achieve this goal, and are the central puzzle piece to complete this. I believe Elio to be an Emanator of Finality, and with Terminus as his guide, will put into place the path to the End of Destruction.
With the Stellaron, its only natural we receive the gaze of Nanook, and on the Astral Express we can find our eyes meeting with every other Aeon, and travelling along every path through our journey.
The Stellaron inside us gives us the power of the Destruction, which otherwise would never be granted to us; as The Trailblaze is the antithesis of The Destruction. With this, we will out weigh Nanook in might and will, and bring about the destruction, of The Destruction
And with the end of Destruction, a new Aeon will be born, one of the name of peace and adventure. A new Aeon of The Trailblaze.

2024.05.18 22:50 saltyblueberry25 Tinfoil master thesis on DFV meme-story

This is my in-depth notes while watching the full length dfv meme video compilation by roaring pika this morning.
https://x.com/roaringpika/status/1791834694704591155?s=46
It’s an hour long and way easier to understand all together like this.
These notes come from watching every ppshow this week and taking my favorite bits of tinfoil from the community into one fairly simple look into the story dfv is telling us without getting too deep on possible tinfoil, it’s just laid out plain and simple here.
Tldr; this is a very long post. I think it starts with dfv’s final yolo update (fine I’ll do it myself) and what’s been going on since then, how he’s been feeling, and all the battles over the last couple years for the first 30 minutes of the memes.
Then in the last half it switches to: I’ll fuckin do it again and full of straight confirmation foil that we’ve been right about the bear trap, bbby, Teddy, and baby all along. Then he says we’re all good, be zen and says goodbye for now.
Here goes:
Fine I’ll do it myself, Cat heartbeat, Wolverine mad. (I think this marks his Final yolo update and of course doubled as the hype to start this week off with a bang.)
I think the first half of the movies are all about the first squeeze and how he was both dfv and kitty, how they were talking trash about him, how we found out about the baskets “you move I move” the battle scenes were all about price action up and down, everything was green and red, and the running memes are about the stock running up and sad memes are when the stock goes down.
About 30 minutes in someone asks, “where you been”, he says “waiting”, what about getting caught? “All part of the plan.”
Then there’s usual suspects movie with the goofy meme “I’ll fuckin do it again”.
——
Jake texting Keith, hilarious (is this about our Jake2b and the story PP had about accidentally going to a gay bar around the first pulte event? So funny with the guy with 600 memes and basically joking that he became a full blown psycho with the memes.
Tell me where the freaks at - epic pump up music. (Psyched on us? Finding other freaks to vibe with.)
Guy looks out the window, then the Teddy in a chair (might have just been a response to Cramer being a smartass). Then Hank (Jim Carrey) starts to lose it as the stock price keeps going down, his alter ego comes out.
Truman show, he’s trying to escape, they say “he’ll turn back he’s too afraid”. They hit him with everything they’ve got but he knows it’s all fake. He says, “is that the best you can do??” (I think this is clearly about fake price movement, trying to keep us trapped in the illusion)
“Fury is a game where every boss fight feels like the final boss. They taunt you, they demand you get back in your prison cell, they pound you into a pulp and they even make you doubt the righteousness of your own quest towards freedom. But the soundtrack man, it keeps egging you on. To whoop some ass!” PP theme music drops. Holy shit.
(This one is obviously talking about us, I cried because I was so happy when I heard this one)
——
The Bullet one talking about time, cause and effect, “don’t try to understand it, just feel it”. “Instinct, got it.”
Morpheus teaching neo it’s all fake. Just before that scene he says, “you think that’s air you’re breathing?” … “Again!”
Alice says “But I don’t want to go among mad people.” The cat replies, “Most everyone’s mad here. You may have noticed I’m not all there myself.” Neo waking up again in the 4th movie.
Alice going down a rabbit hole into wonderland.. psychedelic music and dancing. (That’s us going down the rabbit hole thinking we’ve gone mad but loving every minute of it.)
Next scene guy running and falls over, music says “I lost myself.”
Shawshank, they find the tunnel he made. In 2021 Kitty escaped prison. All they found of him was some Reddit posts, tweets, and an old live stream. Investing is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure and time. That and a keen goddamn activist.
A man will do anything to keep his mind busy in prison. Turns out kittys favorite activity was handing out memes, a handful at a time (the dirt for the tunnel and the tinfoil that’s helped us dig our way to freedom). Kitty did as he was told, buffed that financial education to a high mirror shine. (I think he’s been getting ready for something big and these memes are just a countdown.)
Bruce Willis. “No, THIS is the Kansas City shuffle.” (An advanced form of confidence trick where the mark is aware of being involved in a swindle and believes that he or she can outsmart the swindler; however, this is all part of the trick, and by attempting to retaliate, the mark unwittingly assists the con artist.) Hedge funds are the mark and dfv/rc are playing a con, the bear trap?
——
Pay attention to what I say, I choose my words carefully and I never repeat myself. The cat looks at the camera.
Michael from the office - It’s Britney bitch. And I am back. Cut to Britney Spears - I must confess I still believe. When I’m not with you I lose my mind. Give me a sign (like how we’re always asking for a sign?? (with the alien g from signs all red like a gme logo giving birth). Hit me BABY one more time!
Goosebumps all the papers fly out of the briefcase right when we get like 200 new dockets clawing back money from 90 days before bbby bk. Bear beware… you’re in for a scare…
Then it’s Abbi from Broad city dancing all over the place and she’s obsessed with bed bath and beyond in the show. There’s also the scene where the other girl is dancing behind a colored blanket with the same logo as HBC and then the next scene she’s tied up. Then they’re dancing again.. and naked then then only in shorts. Naked shorts?
We’ll never survive unless we’re a little crazy. The modern investor unleashes the animal within to take on the big city - that’s gotta be us apes?
What kind of person are you? The kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Is it possible that there are no coincidences? The kid holds up a baby monitor. They find a crop circle and it’s two GameStop logos turned in different directions (maybe rc turned GameStop around) and then another one with a long line and a baby gme logo (is gme about to have a baby?!)
Why make something disposable like an investment thesis when you can make something that lasts forever, like a GameStop meme? (It says “Reality” at the bottom of this clip, lol)
Jack Nicholson in the shining (music playing it’s just a matter of time before I lose my mind it’s also a place in ready player one where they have to take the leap not taken, the leap of faith, a kiss). “Make a lot of memes today?” Lol
Can’t stop what’s coming. Kicks some ass.
——
I got both hands off the wheel, the cops are coming. I listen to the music with no fear, you can hear it too if you’re sincere. Cuz I’m a punk rocker yes I am. (song: punkrocker by the teddybears)
Rock ain’t about doing things prefect! Who can tell me what it’s really about? Sticking it to the man! If you wanna rock, you gotta break the rules.
Two cars racing, one plays chicken with a truck and then cut to bojack horseman talking on stage right before they almost crash (stalking horse? Looks just like he horse from 1, 2 switch that GameStop tweeted the minute the stalking horse deadline was up.)
Now you may only see a pile of boring forms and numbers, but I see a story (us going through the dd and maybe holly etlin talking about there’s a story here but it’s not mine to tell)
Listen to this song, it’ll change your life.
(Song is don’t fear the reaper - so don’t be afraid of death, funny because of the cowbell, maybe cowbell is involved in the tinfoil but at the end of the song lyrics not shown in the clip they say: don't be afraid, Come on, baby (and she had no fear) And she ran to him (then they started to fly) They looked backward and said goodbye)
Big Lebowski dude is investigating and finds the drawing of Jackie tree horn and it’s just a guy with a raging erection with the name cohen at the top of the paper. (I think this means rc is ready to fuck)
Jason borne is telling the run Lola run chick he can’t run with her, he has to be careful because people are after him. He says I gotta figure it out. She says well then figure it out. They drive into a parking garage through the wrong way (where it should say exit it says exit strategy and he enters through the exit, parks and walks away, as in “what’s an exit strategy”)
Then it looks like maybe him and rc just waiting and dealing with some bs.
Then there’s the Backstage roaring cat perhaps. The girl says ima stick beside him.
Not sure about everyone shooting each other but someone said maybe because he wrote it and manifested it?
——
Then the dress one “this is art, get it?” Was apparently two minutes after hey Ross and some others were talking about that dress on a space call.
I’m a United States gamestop memer. Aren’t those the guys that go crazy and come back with an arsenal of memes and blast everybody? Sometimes. Price action keeps coming and coming… and then it’s GameStop earnings week! (6/5 aftermarket)
Always sunny scene maybe like a peek into how crazy he’s been feeling not being able to talk to anyone for three years?
He can’t speak or he’ll get in trouble.
Alladin scene (alladin name of trading algo. He also says next time I’ll use a nom de plume - pen name) all I gotta do is jump! (The theme of taking a leap of faith again)
Dreyfus billionaire family (no idea but she’s dancing having a great time)
You can’t handle the truth (code red has to do with a worm/virus, maybe they’re about to unleash something that destroys several companies that are short? And it’s pretty funny)
Beavis and butthead sex for dummies (to me it says rc and dfv are ready to fuck but also cex means centralized exchanges which are also for dummies)
Oceans 11, (theme is a heist. We’re all looking at each other like what’s about to happen and then the last guy is just looking at boobs, seems to describe a group like us lol)
Bernard from westworld can’t see the bear thesis (because in the movie he’s programmed not to but irl it’s because there isn’t a thesis!)
“That’s not a thesis,” pulls out huge knife, “that’s a thesis.”
The gme galaxy on the cat collar says deepfuckingvalue so I think he’s saying it’s still deep value and we often made memes about the black hole of gme absorbing the rest of the market into it so maybe that’s it.
Whats in the box? What’s in the box??? (What’s the plan??? RC not telegraphing his plans)
Guy looks at all the memes - she asks “is it not good?” “It is miraculous.” (That’s us loving every second of this. Thank you dfv.)
And so.. you just RAN. Forest gump runnin’ (gme gonna just keep runnin’)
you go backwards but then you go forwards again… you go backwards… then he walks out of the woods.. (are we out of the woods now? Done going backwards?)
We’ll see. The Zen philosophy story - kid breaks leg, oh that’s bad, can’t go to war, oh now it’s good etc - (I think he’s saying to be zen, we’re gonna win, but this message goes deeper:
We don’t always know what is good or bad. Breaking your leg isn’t good or bad, those are just judgements in our mind. We don’t know what the future holds. Almost anything can be a good thing or a bad thing, all we can do is accept life and how things play out without judgement.)
We’ll see.
Then the boy is saying bye to ET, the music says I’ve really enjoyed my stay, but I must be movin on. (DFV going silent again until this all plays out.)
——
——
He’s saying “we fuckin won fellas! Be zen, and we’ll see this all play out soon enough.”
I think the heavy use of good movies and music and video games may also be hinting at gamestops nft marketplace May reopen to sell those 3 things as NFTs by partnering with blockbuster and some musicians.
LFG 🚀 I’ll see you regards on the moon.

2024.05.18 21:44 WorkOutDrinkMore Disneyland Halloween -> Wine and Dine

I’m all signed up for the Disneyland Halloween Half (September 8) and then the Wine and Dine (November 3). This puts the two races exactly 8 weeks apart. Currently I’m doing the Galloway training program for the DL, but what should I do between the two? Restart the program midway through after the DL? Just do some easy mile runs between? Is there a good training plan already established for this type of timing?

2024.05.18 21:40 United_Channel_5933 I finally might be able to free dotty and the the captive elderly in his “Nursing Home”

Written May 18, 2024 A quick recap Dotty(Real name Dorothy)was an elderly woman I met in 2018 that my mom and I left at a nursing home in Tarzana California on May 20, 2022 to go see our cousin graduate in North California. On our return May 25, the CEO and founder of the home Sargis Avazyan refused to give dotty back by emotionally convincing her to stay at his facility and now won’t let her leave or let any family or friends call her as he just wants her there indefinitely for money. He is also doing this to other elderly from his indirect words I’ve taped as he’s very controlling and arrogantly boastful over “His” elderly residents
Fast forward to now and I’ve been gathering info on him for two years and compiling it on my iPad in my investigation to free dotty and the other elderly. I told the community Care board in Woodland HillIs who oversees the operation of Nursing Homes in the Tarzana area in CA about him last Feb 2023 and met with this cop May 2 2024 at the West Valley Community Police Department as this police department oversees Tarzana CA along with other general areas near this area. He gave me his card with his name and said he along with other cops will attempt to help me free dotty and the other elderly. I will attempt to free her before or after May 25, 2024. I will broadcast this live on twitch at the facility during the police raid so people can know to be careful when giving there elderly to a nursing home as you might not see them again so follow me on Twitch at Justinxrw if you wish to see what elder isolation in a nursing home looks like and the signs to beware of and to be notified when it goes live.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for my safety but more so, the elderly have a right to see their families since no nursing home can make that choice except them to see their families or not. The only issues that prevent me from doing this apart from being scared is that my mom says that “If I do this, she’ll tell everyone in our complex I abused Dotty” since “dotty” wrote/filed a detainer wanting her house back from us naming us abusers at his facility and that my mom may possibly disown me for doing this as she now hates dotty after learning what she did to her children, which I’m perfectly ok with as I’m giving the elderly a chance to fight back as Sargis is a Kidnapper as far as I’m concerned or sure if his nursing home is legal(I’ve researched). I guess I’m caught in a dilemma on if I should to this since this has consequences for me

2024.05.18 21:03 spacesapiens Easy (and free) growth hacks to improve your traffic

I have been launching many startups lately and just want to share some of the stuff that worked really good for me.

Build a free, useful tool to get backlinks

If you are running a content-driven website and rely on search traffic, one of the best ways of boosting your rankings is to get backlinks.
There is a simple trick to get backlinks: building a very simple, easy-to-use tool for a niche market.
Why? Because tools are x12 times more likely to get backlinks and social shares.
Some examples: • A Mortgage Calculator (ex: Zillow) • A tool to convert gross salary to net salary
If these types of tools do not fit your niche, you can consider building a cheat sheet, a planning document, or a reference chart.
How To Implement This Tip
  1. Decide what kind of tool you want to make. It should be directly related to what your business is doing.
  2. Get a freelancer from Upwork to build it for you. Or purchase it from CodeCanyon
  3. Make sure its URL is like this: yourwebsite .com/tool Do not put it in a subdomain, because backlinks directing a subdomain does not count for your .com domain.
  4. Make sure that you put internal links to your tool.
  5. Optional: you can also ask for email addresses from users and capture leads.

Put your domain on the “ref” for your outgoing links to other sites that you linked to them

One of the best ways to get backlinks is to give backlinks. When webmasters see that others are linking them, sometimes they link back. I have seen this tens of times.
So, to alert other websites that you are linking to them is to put a “ref” section to your outgoing links.
Like this: somelink .com/?ref=mysitecom
When they check analytics they will notice your page way more easily and hopefully link back.

2024.05.18 20:38 United_Channel_5933 I finally might be able to free dotty and the the captive elderly in his “Nursing Home”

2024.05.17 23:51 Advanced_Coffee4446 Losing my best friend and family member buttons

Losing my best friend and family member buttons

My wife and I adopted Buttons in 2017. It began as a joke on our next-door neighbour—a “beware of the dog” sign to startle the neighbours. However, it backfired when I found myself at the Animal Welfare League two weeks later. Buttons was in a locked cage, which meant they wanted to open the cage to observe the interactions with the dog. Freshly desexed and still groggy from the procedure, Buttons was a so-called four-year-old tan and white Staffordshire terrier cross—the most beautiful dog I’d ever seen, though we believe she was much younger than four years old.

I felt an instant attraction to Buttons. She was very skittish, and it took RS and VS a while to coax Buttons out of the safety of her basket and come to us. Buttons came home with RS and VS in 2017 from the Animal Welfare League. She was erratic, chaotic, and loved to playfully bite your hands. She had no coordination and was unable to catch food thrown her way, often missing the food entirely, only to have it land across her face, blocking her vision. She was soon taught to catch a frisbee, and she became good at it, often stopping people in their tracks to watch her spectacular airborne catches. Sadly, Buttons was put to sleep in 2023 after a very shocking and dramatic series of events. One day, I got lazy and left a nappy in a bucket outside on the recycling bin, as the rubbish bin was out the front. That night, Buttons got the nappy, consuming its contents along with the nappy itself. We cleaned up the mess, told her she was naughty, and thought nothing more of it…

This was a HUGE MISTAKE. The nappy’s contents were not toxic but super absorbent, swelling in her gut and causing massive bloating to her stomach and intestines, unbeknownst to us. After a couple of days with a very lethargic dog and signs we should have picked up on, she was taken to the vet for x-rays and a check-up. The vet was dismissive, loved the sound of his own voice, and made rude noises whenever I interrupted him to ask questions. They did x-rays but told us they couldn’t see anything.

That night, she took a turn for the worse. Realising she was really unwell and fearing she was dying, we rushed her to an emergency vet clinic in the early hours of a Sunday morning. Sadly, there was nothing they could do for her within our budget. After spending thousands of dollars over a couple of days on her, the bills became unaffordable, reaching $3,000 plus with more expenses $7000 for a couple of days with no guarantee she would even survive the night. We had to make the heart-wrenching decision to let her go to heaven—this destroyed us. It was a very traumatic event for RS, my wife, who had to drive Buttons to an emergency vet clinic in the early hours of Sunday, only to be told there wasn’t much they could do…

The decision was made to end Buttons’ suffering and have her put to sleep to prevent any more suffering. Poor RS had to sit there as Buttons slowly faded away, having to witness it all alone, as I was home with my son, who was fast asleep. Buttons spent many hours playing with my son, who was born on 28/10/2020. Buttons was hyperactive, paranoid, and had severe separation anxiety. I spent every day with her and took her for walks as often as I could, though the walking slowed down when my son was born. Buttons became more of a family guard dog and playmate for my two-year-old son, BS. They played for hours in the backyard as I sat inside, watching them on camera. They were very similar, both quick to excite and loving to play and run and chase toys. Sadly, her death was a very traumatic event in our lives, and we often find ourselves in tears, thinking about how amazing Buttons grew to be. R.I.P. Buttons, 2017/2023—seven years of the most amazing memories, tainted with the trauma of her very surprising and shocking departure from our lives. I’d really like to remember the good times we spent together; however, it is still very painful to think about her because of the trauma of her sudden departure. Buttons was like a member of the family, and her loss has left our family in great pain and heartache. We love you forever, Buttons. Much love from your family, BS, RS, VS. We miss you greatly!XOXOXO

I miss you so damn much Buttons xoxox
The dramatic death of you still has us upset and angry at ourselves and the St Peters vets who were more interested in power tripping and profiteering than saving the life of my dear Buttons.
Fuck you! ST Peters veterinarian clinic 45 Stephan Terrace Stick the flowers you sent after her death up your arse! I would of rather you saved my Dog when I brought her in, I even told you exactly what the fucking problem was...
People hear my WARNING and keep away from this vet in emergencies, I'm sure they are fine for handing out expensive medications and taking your money.

I hope to see you on the other side Buttons, where I will throw frisbees and play with you forever! <3

2024.05.17 23:19 Terrible_Tree_1137 I dodged a nuke by dumping my spiralling ex

My (f26) ex’s (m25) mother and I have been in contact recently.
(English is not my first language and I am on my phone, so sorry for all the mistakes)
I’ll call my ex Mike to make it easier (false name)
A bit of background; Mike and I dated for two years. I was in a really bad place and very unstable. He felt like a rock because he had went through similar situations. We grew closer and started dating a month after we met.
At the time I had a bad relationship with my mother and Mike supported me when I felt ignored and neglected. He helped me back on my feed and thanks to him cheering me on (after some time) I started studying again. Whenever there was a fight in my family or with my friends he was there for me and told me to take some space from them.
When I was privileged enough to be able to live in my aunt’s apartment, he lived 5 days of the week with me. It was then that I noticed he never paid for anything when I was with him. All the food, the services to wash our clothes (a community cleaner and dryer), public transport, … everything came out of my budget even though he worked and I didn’t. He told me his mom took it all, but that I should never mention that to her because she would get angry, deny, and harm Mike in some way.
During that time Mike was more and more aggressive too. Never to me, but always around me. He slammed the wall or table when he was angry at his mother, sister(s), or friends and would go for walks cause he was “scared” he would hurt me - he would always make it a point to tell me this. Meanwhile when I got irritated because he didn’t help me with chores he would freak out and start telling me that my ‘outbursts’ reminded him of his dad and all the trauma Mike had - which made me swallow my feelings and comfort him. At the end of our stay there I just started treating him as a child during those episodes and after a bit of comforting I put him before the TV with blankets and snacks before I left to do things in a nearby room.
Mike was also never able to hold a job for more than a month. He told me different stories every time I asked him why and said that everyone was out to get him on every job he worked. I had promised him we would start living together in earnest if he held a job for 3 months and when I told him that he blew up that I put too much pressure on him.
We eventually broke it off because during a Halloween party Mike told one of my friends that he would lend me out for “anything you want to do with her”. I still stayed with him till half of January, but I started putting distance between us since then. I’m glad my friends were there for me during the whole ordeal.
Afterwards Mike switched between stalking my phone, spreading gossips that he had beat me up, telling everyone I would get on my knees and sleep with anything with a pulse, and begged him to take me back, threaten to unalive me, and a few other things.
After a year of dealing with that (and dating my best friend who supports me through all this with a lot of understanding), I saw Mike’s sister by coincidence. I told her that Mike signed a contract with me that he still owed me money and that I was going the legal route. I didn’t want to scare her, but if Mike was still living with his Mother then I wanted to warn them before the legal letter came.
She told me that Mike was no longer living with them after raping a minor.
That evening Mike’s mom called me to say that it was true and we both spend a couple hours talking about it all and also all other Things Mike has done. Half the jobs he claimed he had were lies, everything about his mother (except for the now bad relationship) was a lie, his past with his father was a lie… Also apparently he is trying to commit tax fraud and has been scamming people as a ‘job’ now.
Now I am thinking about the girls that came up to me after our breakup that said he tried to force them or tried to get pics of them and that when he couldn’t get them to comply he would blow up.
I dodged a nuke.

2024.05.17 21:17 Yurii_S_Kh The Legacy of Patriarch Abraham On Authentic and Imagined Monotheism. Part 1: Christianity

The Legacy of Patriarch Abraham On Authentic and Imagined Monotheism. Part 1: Christianity
The Old Testament Trinity - The hospitality of Abraham
Monotheism is not only the oldest but also the original form of religion. This is recognized both by Christian theologians as well as by many historians of religion. In the first chapter of the book of Genesis, only one God is mentioned. There are no references to any other "gods": "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen. 1:1); "And the Lord said..." (Gen. 6:3); "And God saw..." (Gen. 6:5); "Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he" (Gen. 6:22).
The retreat from monotheism took place after the events of the tower of Babel. The fallen nature of man was increasingly rooted in sin. Gradually, the notion of God became obscure. In human life, sensual and carnal inclinations prevailed. The deep-seated habit of attaching value only to that which is entirely visible and tangible, as well as a vital dependence on the natural environment and a fear of the natural elements, led people to deify the sun, moon, stars, sea, rivers, mountains, animals, plants, and people (rulers and heroes). As the Holy Apostle Paul writes, idolaters "changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator" (Rom. 1:25).
At that time, pagan nonbelief was ubiquitous. It had even infected those who descended from Patriarch Abraham. The Lord speaks through Joshua to the Jews: "our fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods" (Josh. 24:2). God called upon Abraham and took him from the land of his ancestors in order to keep intact true veneration of the Divine, by which Abraham differed from his other contemporaries: "And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan" (Josh. 24:3).
Patriarch Abraham is the father of the chosen people. He occupies a special place in the Divine Economy of our salvation. His calling was not only the first stage in the fulfillment of the divine plan for the salvation of mankind, but also determined its basic direction. From his calling to his death, he found himself under special divine guidance. God directed him throughout his life. Abraham, having perfect faith, submitted unconditionally to the divine will. "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3).
From Patriarch Abraham begins the history of the nation, from which came the Most Holy Virgin Mary, who gave birth to the Savior of the world. Indeed, Christians derive their spiritual lineage from Abraham: "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Gal. 3:29).
Patriarchs Isaac and Jacob, and all subsequent successors remained faithful to God alone. Even in Egypt among the gentiles, Abraham's great-grandson, Joseph, occupying a high position in the state, preserved the faith of his fathers. Meeting with his brothers, he said to them, "So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt" (Gen. 45:8).
The holy prophet Moses receives the Tables of Testimony
After the Egyptian captivity, monotheism was inscribed as the chief commandment of the Mosaic law: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" (Deut. 6:4); "I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Exod. 20:2-3). Any form of idolatry was prohibited as a crime (see Deut. 13:15-19).
Israelite society was a theocracy (in Greek theos means God and kratos means power or might). God the Creator was not only the Leader, Providence, and Lawgiver of the nation, but also its Judge. The whole life of the people was to be built on these theocratic principles. The Old Testament laws were predicated upon faith in God, Who made Israel His people and entered into a Covenant with them.
During the prophetic period, biblical monotheism receives the ultimate clear, theological justification. The Lord speaks through the Prophet Isaiah: " I am the Lord, and there is none else" (Isa. 45:6). Also: "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God" (Isa. 44:6). God is not only the only Creator of heaven and earth, but also the Lord, "he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein" (Isa. 42:5).
The prophets were the custodians of monotheism. They rebuked not only ordinary Israelites, but even the kings, when they introduced idolatry. The prophets proclaimed the coming of the Messiah, Who will have Divine dignity. When a threat to the Kingdom of Judaea arose, the Lord says to King Ahaz: "Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God" (Isa. 7:11). Ahaz refused. Then Prophet Isaiah delivered the famous Messianic prophesy: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" (Isa. 7:14). The name "Immanuel" means "God is with us." The same prophet says about the Messiah: "unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). Also: "Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd" (Isa. 40:10-11).
The Monotheism of Christianity
Christianity, which reveals to the world the revelation of God as the all-perfect Spirit, raises the people of the new Israel to a higher level, teaching the worship of God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). The incarnate God, Jesus Christ, revealed to humanity the supreme truth of salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven. Only the New Testament religion, which fully possesses a complete knowledge of the uncreated nature of God, and reveals to all the path to union with Him through prayer, holy sacraments, and fulfillment of the Gospel commandments, is the complete and succeeding monotheism. It is based on not only the firm foundation of biblical revelation given to the patriarchs and prophets. God Himself was incarnate and bore witness to the mysteries of the Divine Economy. In the high priestly prayer to God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ says, "For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me" (John 17:8).
For representatives of Judaism and Islam, the great stumbling block is the divinity of our Savior Jesus Christ. They are lured, despite the compelling evidence found in the sacred books of the New Testament.
The Holy Apostle Thomas was absent from the first appearance of the resurrected Savior to the disciples. Other apostles with whom Thomas met joyfully proclaimed the Teacher's resurrection. Thomas said, "Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25). The Savior answered Thomas' doubt with his own words, repeating the exact demand that Thomas himself had made. This could only amaze the doubting disciple, “Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing" (John 20:27). In response, the Apostle Thomas confessed Jesus Christ as God: “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28).
The Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian
The Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian bears witness to the divinity of Jesus Christ: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). In this text, God is directly referred to as the Word (Logos). The objection usually made at this point is very weak. It is said that Theos does not have an article, and therefore is not referring to a personal God. But in the sixth verse of this chapter, "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John" (John 1:6) there is also no article in front of the word Theos in the Greek text. However, we are talking about a personal God. We can provide other evidence. The Apostle and Evangelist Mark called Christ the Son of God: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God" (Mark 1:1).
The Apostle John the Theologian says in his first Epistle: "And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life" (1 John 5:20).
The Holy Apostle Paul time and again writes about the Divinity of Jesus Christ in his Epistles. "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Col. 2:8-9). We read in another Epistle: "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows” (Heb. 1:8-9). The Son of God is called God twice. The Greek text in both cases says Theos—God. There is even more. The Apostle Paul told the elders of the city of Ephesus, "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood" (Acts 20:28). The founder of the Church, Jesus Christ, is without a doubt called God. In the Epistle to Titus we read, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Tit. 2:11-13). What could be clearer than "the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"?
The divinity of Jesus Christ, and consequently, Christianity's monotheism, endeavors to refute exemplars of Judaism and Islam. One of the main reasons is the inability to accommodate the teachings of the Holy Trinity, incarnation, resurrection, and other doctrinal truths into a narrow and distorted religious consciousness. Despite the antagonism between Judaism and Islam, both religions converge in that they criticize not Christianity—the theological heights and spiritual wealth of which they cannot comprehend—but its creation of the false image of New Testament religion.

2024.05.17 20:11 KawaiiHamburger Show vs book, who did it better?

Beware, this includes spoilers for the show and books 😁.
Usually the phrase goes, “the movie/show is never as good as the book”. Adaptations tend to not be as faithful or mess up favorite parts of books so everyone says you at least need to read the book before watching a show/movie and come in with low expectations. Having read the first book now (with as best I could do a translation), I think the show actually was as faithful an adaptation I’ve seen in awhile but also did its own take on the material that was a bit better to me. Below are what I maybe wish they did include but then the things I’m glad they left out / changed.
Wish was included: - The Halloween party (it was changed to the gala but I think the Victorian Halloween theme was cool) - That James wasn’t the one to invite Ruby to the party (it was Alistair, James realized it wasn’t good for Ruby already and tried to dissuade her) - James trying to keep Ruby away from his world even after others know he likes her (the show brushes it off a bit after the pool scene and everyone acts friendly to Ruby but in the books they don’t accept her at all yet) - The mention of aunt Ophelia since she’s important later - That James’s abuse wasn’t a one time deal (the show makes it appear like his father lost his temper that one time vs the book making it known his father has struck him before) - James’s interest in traveling (that’s an important part of his character that comes in for later books)
Glad they changed: - Making Percy a stronger figure for the twins (he’s still there for them in the books in a similar way but I like the version of Percy the show created) - The initials reveal (in the book the initials are revealed off-handedly but I like how the show did it once they were closer to one another and it meant something) - Ruby not wanting to go the party (it makes more sense the way the show portrays it, that she wouldn’t want to go but would go to see James) - What happened between Wren and Ruby (if they had more episodes that might’ve been interesting to add plot-wise but I think leaving it out is better, especially for future plots) - James’s drawing ability (not in the book but I thought it added to his character) - Ruby getting a recommendation from Lexington instead of Sutton (the show’s way made more sense that Ruby wouldn’t respect Sutton as much or be worried about his recommendation) - Toning down the harshness of James’s partying (we get that he parties which is bad but I’m glad they didn’t include the drugs and show him spiraling too much, there’s a difference between bad boy and dangerous boy) - Adding the threat from his dad to Ruby instead of it being about engagement (the threat his father made about ruining her life gave more reason for James to stay away than just because his parents disliked her as a potential wife due to status) - James relationship with his mom (changing her to where it appears she’s trapped like James and tries to connect with him makes more sense why he’d be broken up at the end vs the book where she’s just as cruel as his dad) - The boating accident (I liked that the show made it more central to Ruby and her family’s plot and not just a side note like the book)
Would love to see everyone’s thoughts on series vs book! What did you like / dislike? Think they should’ve included or didn’t? What did you think was a good addition? Now with the announcement for season 2 I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with that book, hopefully just as good as this season. 😄

2024.05.17 18:44 Someidiot666-1 HWY 93 checkpoint

Beware that there is a checkpoint stop about 100 miles north of Vegas on Hwy 93. There is a sign saying “illegal drug search 1 mile”. There is no actual check point but they are waiting for people to pull over right past the sign (to hide shit) and then pulling up on them with cop lights and shit. Remember that in this country, the cops can’t just search your vehicle without probable cause. That being said, don’t pull over if you see this sign. It will get you a visit by the sheriff.

He is the lead advisor to Klaus Schwab and is praised by Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Silicon Valley, the New York Times, TED, Stanford, Harvard, the World Economic Forum, James Corden, Natalie Portman, etc.) According to World Economic Forum luminary and historian Yuval Noah Harari, the transition to “digital dictatorships” will have a “big watershed” moment once governments start using “surveillance under the skin.”
Epstein + Biden + Harari = “Pre-Crime Prevention”
The Biden administration asked Congress for $6.5 billion to fund a new biomedical research agency which would merge “national security” with “health security” in such a way as to use both physical and mental health “warning signs” to prevent outbreaks of disease or violence before they occur.
Such a system is a recipe for a technocratic “pre-crime” organization with the potential to criminalize both mental and physical illness as well as “wrongthink. This agency was to be largely guided by Biden’s confirmed top science adviser, ERIC LANDER. LANDER formerly the head of the Silicon Valley-dominated Broad Institute, has been controversial for his ties to eugenicist and child sex trafficker JEFFREY EPSTEIN. https://cen.acs.org/policy/Eric-Lander-resigns-Bidens-science/100/i6

2024.05.17 16:11 Ok_Claim_5411 Advice on used 3?

Hi all--Complete newbie here, so apologies for any blunders here: Found a used 2022 M3P near my home (a non-Tesla dealership offering), south of 12,000 miles. Asking $39K. Carfax reveals "minor" damage to left front but I couldn't see any sign of it.
The damage report doesn't worry me a lot. Reasoning: It’s not like regular cars that have a radiatointercooleoil pan that can get damaged in an accident. Or do you think this is foolish? Finally, the tires are the summeperformance originals (P Zero) and I would want all-season tires as I'd need this car in rain/some snow.
Q's: Gut reaction to that asking price? (On high end of K blue book.) How concerned would you be about "minor" damage, according to Carfax? Has anyone negotiated for pre-purchase tire replacement? Is that even a thing?
I realize it's my own "buyer beware" situation to figure out, but I'd be grateful for gut responses from experienced owners/buyers. Thanks for reading!
