2024.05.19 15:09 SandorHQ A fan is asking for more content on the Steam forum, but my game is financial catastrophe. How should I respond?

As a solo dev, I have a commercial game on Steam that hasn't even made back 10% of my investment. Despite being a financial failure, I'm quite proud of the quality and depth of the game. Its genre is a bit hard to describe, so let's go with "an innovative roguelike/RPG where conflicts are resolved through various, procedurally generated word puzzles".
Since the first version, I have published three free content updates (and hotfixes) and responded to all support questions, either by email or on the Steam forum. However, I cannot afford to spend more effort on this game, and I've moved on to other projects.
Today, a fan asked on the Steam forum if they can expect new stories and game events. I'm not sure how to express that, due to the poor sales, I am unable to provide support beyond bug fixes. I'd rather not ignore the question because it would make the game look completely abandoned.

2024.05.19 15:08 GoroTerror 30 [M4F] Rochester/Online- engineer, looking for someone connect to!

Hey there! I am a 30 year old guy from Upstate New York looking for someone that wants to make an emotional connection, and would like to put efforts into conversations.
A bit about me: I'm 6’1". I get height can be a big deal for some women so I think it's best to just put it out there first 😅 I've got black hair, brownish black eyes. Average body, I'm muscular and wanting to start exercising both for health and a little bit for better shape. I like to think I'm fairly attractive but then most of us grew up with a relative always telling us we were not handsome or cute, etc. we can share pictures once we establish some comfort zone. If education is important, I am a college graduate with post-graduation degree as well. Now working as an engineer.
I have to lead with the fact that I can be pretty sarcastic at times. I also joke and (playfully) tease. I'm pretty easy going/chill and I like to keep things light and fun, but also enjoy getting into the really deep conversations as well. I'm a sucker for the whole good morning and goodnight text thing as well as checking in on those busier days. That doesn’t mean we have to just message good morning and good night for the whole week. Haha. I think most important part of knowing someone via online platform is initial conversations and if you don’t have enough time let me know otherwise that conversation is dead in no time.
I love animals. I've always felt very connected and attached to them and just enjoy interacting with them. While I am more of a dog person pet-wise, cats are still pretty cool in my book. Cats are more complex though I love the mysterious nature.
Anything outdoors is great in my opinion. Just feel like going for a walk? Let's do it. I do kayaking a bit in the summers, fish, hike, go for drives. I have the habit of occasionally stopping and taking pictures of plants and flowers I see around (I'm always down to share!). While sending me message write code - “I3U” so that I know it’s someone who actually read my post. Didn’t write in the end cuz some people might just skip to end. This doesn’t mean that you just send me the code. I am strictly gonna monitor now. I have skimmed through soo many texts and my innocent heart always gives chances, I am gonna try to be little strict this time.
It's not just the outdoors I love. I can also get down with chill days at home binging something on Netflix or playing something on my PC. Let's face it, I'm a bit if a nerd (everyone has something nerd about themselves) and if you like Jurassic park, board games, Any Mafia movies, gaming, etc we will get along great. I'm a sucker for horror movies as well and am always looking for recommendations. I listen to a lot of music. I shouldn’t brag but I listen to english ,german, Spanish, french and Hindi songs. Born and brought up in India. Hence, hindi songs.
A bit about (possibly) you: I'd prefer if you were in some sort of professional environment and ambitious. I'm not extremely picky about things like hair and eye color. Height is also not a big deal. If you're alot smaller than me and worried that it's something you’ll be insecure about, it's not. The big thing for me is personality. I think personality can make us a lot more or a lot less attractive. I want someone that is genuinely kind and sweet, someone that likes to laugh, someone that's not afraid to be goofy.
A final note: I'm a single guy and looking for someone dynamic. Sometimes I can respond immediately and sometimes it takes a minute due to the obvious circumstances. I also don't expect you to respond immediately to every message, I get that we all have lives and can be busy at times. It would be awesome if you are up for a voice chat. And please please when responding write something about yourself.
If any if this sounds remotely interesting to you, feel free to reach out via reddit dm or chat!

2024.05.19 15:08 SimpleSquare5609 Dating as a woman

Hi all! I 25(F) am an expat who moved to Montenegro 3 weeks ago. How is the dating culture here? I've met so many friendly men around and had a bit of a chat but nothing solid. Is it online or in person mostly?
I work from cafes so I've had a bunch of men approach me a few times or free coffee or a glass of wine but I can't figure out if they are just friendly or flirting! Help a girl out!

2024.05.19 15:05 No_Major8743 ActiveCaptain and Garmin Express Issues with Echomap Chartplotters, Buying Maps, Etc.

So I haven't updated my maps in a couple years. I figured I'll do it this year and pay the money to update everything.
I run and Echomap Ultra 106sv and an Ultra 9sv in my boat.
I open ActiveCaptain and first update both Chartplotters. Success.
I then go to Chart Subscriptions and purchase a new Navionics subscription. Paid my money through the Apple App store. It says my purchase was processed, etc.
Go back into the Active Captain charts section and nothing. Restart, reinstall, relog in and still nothing. I go to my Garmin account and look under orders and it only shows my past chart purchases. After spending $200, nothing is different.
I read online to install the Navionics app and try logging in from there. And it only gives you the option to Free Trial for 15 days or Subscribe. Why isn't there a log in??? So I click Free Trial, then I can log in from there. So I do log in through my Garmin account, but I'm still on a Free Trial.
Then I read to try and access the existing files through Garmin Express app on PC. I log on to there, I have to update the App to the newest version. Once that is done I restart, now my Vessel is missing and it says to Add Vessel. So I pop the SD card in and it recognizes my chart plotter, I sign in, verify, and it spins for a bit, and boom "There was an error adding your vessel." No explanation no solution, nothing. Garmin wants me to just deal with it.
I drive back out to the boat, pop the card back in. The card with the original chart still works fine.
I log back onto ActiveCaptain to see if theres maybe I way I can "Restore" my purchasing. I go through a little process to Renew of Update my subscription. So I click on that and it bills me again. I figured what the hey, I'll try it.
Bought this twice now and still nothing. I've requested my money back from Apple.
I'm so stuck on what's going on here. I can't win with either solution. I'm guessing the ActiveCaptain issue is with the App Store, and the Garmin Express issues has something to do with the Update.
Or does anyone know what might be the issues here or a solution? I'm stuck, Garmin is closed on the weekend. I'm not sure exactly how to fix this. Love the Garmin product, but I'm almost over having issues every time I have to or want to update something and spend days on it. I'm soooo close to switching everything to Lowrance.

2024.05.19 15:05 RealEstateNStocks Expand portfolio or generate more cash?

I have a house valued at approximately $300,000 with a $180,000 mortgage. The property generates a net cash flow of about $600 per month after expenses, and I have a $40,000 HELOC on the house that I haven't used yet. Besides that, my liquid cash reserves are low. Should I use the HELOC funds (and possibly a business line of credit) to purchase another property using a DSCR loan, then focus on building up my cash reserves while paying down the HELOC as both properties generate cash flow? I'm struggling to assess my leverage risk, but I know I would have enough for the down payment and closing costs on a new property that would cash flow, leaving me with around $10,000 for emergency expenses, potentially more if I can secure a $50,000 business line of credit. I have access to places where I can live rent-free, which would allow me to pay down the HELOC and lines of credit more quickly during the cash flow process.

2024.05.19 15:01 aznpersuazion Why Vancouver has THE BEST FOOD IN NORTH AMERICA

Alright, buckle up because we're diving into why Vancouver's food scene is straight-up legendary. Forget the regular city vibes; Vancouver is a melting pot of flavors, a culinary carnival that beats anything else in North America. Join me on this personal quest to unravel why the combo of Asian influence, Pacific Northwest goodness, and chill dining vibes makes Vancouver the top pick for foodies.
Asian Culinary Delights: Tradition and Creativity Unleashed
Vancouver's streets resonate with the aromas of traditional Asian dishes, prepared with a touch of authenticity that transports you across borders. Picture slurping savory ramen in Chinatown or savoring hand-pulled noodles in a cozy corner of East Van. But what makes Vancouver's Asian food scene truly exceptional is its fusion of tradition with modern creativity.
In this city, innovation meets tradition on a plate. Take, for instance, squid ink brioche with sea urchin pâté – a daring yet harmonious blend of flavors that pushes the boundaries of culinary expectations. Vancouver's chefs are culinary artists, creating dishes that not only pay homage to traditional recipes but also elevate them into extraordinary, palate-pleasing experiences.
And let's not forget the matcha mochi croissants that have taken the city by storm. A fusion of Japanese mochi and French croissants, these delectable pastries are a testament to Vancouver's culinary diversity. Each bite is a dance of textures and tastes, showcasing the city's flair for seamlessly blending cultures and cuisines.
Pacific Northwest's Grocery List: Seafood Galore and More
Living next to the Pacific Ocean is like having a seafood aisle in your backyard. Fresh salmon, sweet Dungeness crab, and chubby spot prawns – Vancouver's seafood game is on point. And let's not forget the local veggies and meats, straight from the region's green landscapes. It's like nature’s way of saying, "Hey, enjoy the good stuff!"
Nature Vibes: Dining with a View
Vancouver's layout is like a dating app for food and nature; they're a match made in heaven. Whether you're brunching in a leafy neighborhood or devouring seafood with an ocean panorama, the city serves up an Instagrammable backdrop for every meal. Picture this: a patio, a breeze, and the scent of fir trees – eating out just got a whole lot cooler.
Neighborhood Chronicles: Culinary Adventures Off the Beaten Path
Downtown is cool, but venture out, and you'll hit foodie gold. Commercial Drive's eclectic spots or Richmond's legit Asian flavors – Vancouver's neighborhoods are like culinary treasure maps. Each area has its own flavor story, tempting you to be the food explorer you were born to be.
Conclusion
Vancouver isn't just a city with good food; it's a food fiesta waiting to happen. The Asian vibes, the Pacific Northwest's goodies, and the city's chill connection with nature make dining here a full-blown experience. Vancouver isn't just North America's food champion; it's a vibe, a journey through flavors, and a big, fat stamp on your foodie passport. So, next time you're craving a culinary adventure, Vancouver's got your back, fork, and knife.

2024.05.19 15:01 aznpersuazion A Review Of GoldBelly in 2023. Is it Safe to Use?

This is not sponsored by Goldbelly. This review is solely written from my own experiences with the company. Goldbelly is a delivery service that pairs customers with popular restaurants across the United States. You can order from thousands of restaurants, markets, and stores across the nation.
Food safety and regulations..
After numerous orders with Goldbelly, it is safe to say that their product works as intended. I know there are a lot of negative complaints about Goldbelly online about food arriving spoiled, but I can assure you that after dozens of orders, food has always arrived on time and safely refrigerated. The complaints that you see online are likely the minority.
When delivering food via popular mailing services, companies like Goldbelly don't have a ton of control as to if the food arrives on time. But from my experience, the regulation around the amount of insulation and dry ice/ice packs the company makes restaurants has gotten a lot better in recent years. This makes it so food generally can last at last 24 hours after their intended arrival date.
If you're considering giving Goldbelly a chance, the product is trustworthy.
Overall review..
Goldbelly is definitely expensive. You're paying 2-3 times more sometimes, and some of the food won't be as fresh as having the option to dine in. Goldbelly is useful if you're really trying to splurge, or send someone the gift of some food they normally don't get to eat.
I would stay away from shops that have a 4.2 review or lower.
If you're interested in using it. American Express cards often have offers and credits for the service, where you can save 40-50%. Rakuten also has additional cash back for the service.

2024.05.19 15:01 aznpersuazion Is the Michelin Guide Overrated?

My experience with Michelin in a complicated one. Having gone to one, two, and three Michelin star restaurants across the globe, I've seen Michelin do some great things for restaurants, but I've also seen them bring the demise of others.
Because it's quite apparent what good things come from being highlighted by Michelin, this post is more focused on some of my criticisms of the Michelin guide, and why I think the current structure of Michelin should be changed.
Maintaining "Michelin's definition" of the gold standard..
There have been a ton of amazing restaurants given a one star review. Restaurants don't even need to be "fine dining" to be given a Michelin star, as highlighted by some of the cheap eats that have received a one star review.
But a one star review, can at times, be a curse for restaurants. Often, restaurants receive one star reviews got there by showcasing there strengths. A passion for food and creativity, a desire to share culture or tradition, or an expression of a personal brand of art.
When a restaurant receives a one star review, two things happen.
  1. They begin to get huge influx of customers. Initially.
  2. They start to be compared to other one star restaurants, sometimes even two or three star.
The majority of the time, when a restaurant receives a one star review, the rapidly get a ton of customers wanting to try them. And in just a few months, they start to raise prices. Because money can change people.
And eventually, they start to act as more of a "tourist attraction", and start to lose the original loyal clientele that brought them to where they were in the first place.
Secondly, they begin to compare themselves to the standards of other "higher" Michelin star restaurants.
And that typically means focusing more on a particular brand of fine dining. Hyper-attentive service, an overuse of "micro complex food"(emulsions, purees, colorful vegetation). Just to name a few.
I've seen this unfortunately happen time and time again.
If your customers wanted to go to a Eleven Madison Park, they'd travel to New York. But don't turn your restaurant into a chain of fine dining. You'll start to lose the allure, and it starts to feel like the routine of Mcdonalds or Capital Grille.

2024.05.19 15:01 aznpersuazion Is Software Engineering a Good Job in 2023?

To preface this post, I want to give the disclaimer that like many things, there is not a black and white answer the question. I'm writing this as an experienced tech professional, and the information provided is based on opinion.
To start with. A little bit of history..
The golden age of software engineering(and similar jobs) is over. At least for the next 5 - 10 years. I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. The reason why between the years of 2010 - 2022, these jobs exploded, was because of the boom of the internet for commercial and personal use.
This is different from the dotcom boom of 2000s, where the internet was just starting and most of the products being created were for basic things like: putting banking on the internet, putting videos on the internet, etc.
The boom in the 2010s was related to the widespread popularity of commercial and personal products. Things like Uber, Spotify, and Salesforce. With the sudden increased usage of the digital world, there were MILLIONS of companies rushing to create digital products.
However, we're starting to see the rise and fall of some of these products, millions of startups failings, and less VC funding. In case you don't know, VC stands for Venture Capital, which are basically investment companies that give money to other companies to help them grow and develop, in return for partial ownership of the company.
As the industry began to mature, successful companies started to emerge, and many more started to fail.
The present day..
Software engineering and like jobs will continue to be important, and there will be a high demands for these engineers. Nearly every company will still need a website, a place to manage their data, and people to manage their hardware. BUT.. the basic technologies they need to run their company will become more efficient. AND there will be less research and innovation because the a lot of the trial and error already occurred.
We're in a weird spot where the demand for workers is now decreasing from it's recent peaks, and the supply of workers is now increasing because of how all the benefits of being a software engineer in the past decade.
This has really unfortunate consequences for any recent graduates or others trying to break into the tech field. There are WAY more beginning career people than jobs available. Which is made even worse with the amount of layoffs there are, where mid-level employees are now having to settle for entry level jobs.
What can we do?
I have two pieces of advice for people interested in the topic, or wanting to break into the field but can't. Try breaking in from a adjacent field, where you can get some exposure to tech. Things that data entry, analytics(this can be finance, supply chain etc). Then try to learn as much as you can from the tech people at your company.
The second piece of advice. Go into a different field. Software engineering is not for everyone. You have to learn and understand some relatively complex topics, and it's becoming harder and harder to be competitive in the industry. Healthcare, supply chain, and many other industries are booming right now.
Understanding history, you can see that certain industries will rise and fall. For the near future, technology might be one of the harder careers to break into. Something like healthcare would be that's expected to grow exponentially. The average population of the world is getting older, as less and less people are wanting to have kids. There will be higher demand for healthcare professionals and healthcare technology.
Do your best to review and understand these trends, and hopefully you can create a good life and career. Best of luck!

2024.05.19 15:01 aznpersuazion My Top 5 Restaurants in South Florida/Miami Area..

Wanted to share my top 5 recommendation list. Having lived here for about 30 years, here are the best spots to visit, whether you're traveling or a local. I've included a range of options from cheap eats to fine dining.
  1. Chef Tally's - I've binge eaten at least 50+ jamaican restaurants, and while this isn't your typical traditional jamaican spot, this is hands down one of my favorite places in south Florida. I dream about the chicken here. It's always a candidate for my "what should I eat this weekend" thoughts.
  2. Mila Sunday Brunch - $95 for all you can eat cinco jota jamon iberico, black caviar, and a ton of other creatively prepared dishes. I've had a few of the other brunchs in south florida, like edge, novikov, etc. but this one gets the thumbs up because they actually have more unique spreads and appetizers. Pro tip, they have a cheese wheel pasta and mojito station outside. Did I mention the price includes unlimited champagne and rose?
  3. Palacio de los Jugos - this is a staple of south florida cuisine. I might get some flack for having this on my list, but amongst all the cuban and latin spots I've been to across Hialeah and Miami, I always find myself back here grabbing a meal for like $7 and juice for $3!
  4. Stubborn Seed - I haven't gone since they've gotten their Michelin Star, but I used to frequent this place. What sets the tasting menu at stubborn seed apart in my opinion is the almagamation of dish pacing, food sourcing/creativity, and lineup of ingredients. I don't think there's a singular dish that really sets this restaurant apart from the rest of the modern fine dining options, but more so a extremely well presented and curated dining experience.
  5. Anita Gelato. This spot recently opened in Aventura coming from NYC. It's not a super traditional italian/argentiniam gelato, but the flavor combinations are the best I've ever had. And it's not too sweet. My favorite ice cream/froyo/gelato spot amongst the hundreds I've been to in SoFlo.
Honorable mention goes to Kaeru Sushi for bringing great quality japanese food for an affordable price.* A little extra. South Florida has EXCELLENT latin american food(peruvian, argentinian, columbian, etc.), mediterranean, israeli/jewish delis, italian, caribbean, and much more. I highly recommend checking out any of the above cuisines. DM me if you'd like any specific recommendations.

2024.05.19 15:00 Sir_David_Davidson More important than a woman's reaction to you is YOUR REACTION to their reaction!

Hi, David here!
Many inexperienced men believe that if they show interest, e.g. ask a girl out or try to kiss her, and the girl does not reciprocate, then it is game over.
The truth is that it all depends on your reaction to her reaction. If you go for the kiss and she turns her cheek to you, and you react by being hurt or overly apologetic, then it may likely be game over.
Same also goes if you get all sulky and butt-hurt if she turns you down for a date. But if you instead react by smiling, shrug it off, and continue the conversation as if nothing had happened, then your self-confidence may generate more attraction than if you had actually gotten what you wanted in the first place.
The most important thing when it comes to asking someone out is to do so in a low pressure way where you communicate to the other person that you will not be upset if they say no.
The longer you wait to ask someone out, the more likely it is that you will become more invested in the relationship's outcome. This will only make it harder for you to remain cool and nonreactive when interacting with the person. So quit putting it off and go for it already!

BTW, I just finished putting together my dating advice eBook "How to Date Any Girl" version 4.0 and would LOVE to get some honest feedback from you!
I decided to give it away for free for the time being.

The eBook is 27 pages long and gives you a practical step-by-step solution to meeting women (15+ years of knowledge put into it).
You can get the eBook by clicking here!

This book is the result of going out and socializing with girls for over a decade. I have put in there all the fundamentals I have learned over that time so I would really appreciate all the feedback I could get!!

What are your thoughts? Do you have any tips to add?
Let's discuss in the comments :)
Thanks for reading and have a GREAT day!

Tempo-pushing Two Guard
Recently I found a post on here where someone put every attribute at around 75. I decided to go in the builder and see if I could make a usable player based on that.
This year I am playing no money spent so I started off on all-star difficulty and moved to superstar about game 15.
The pros - This build does all of the little aspects of basketball well. It can rebound, play defense and pass.
The cons - Shooting is bad, maybe it will get better; but right now it's terrible. Stamina even though it is at 93 seems to drain extremely quickly. (I hate the Gatorade gym so I don't do those workouts).
If I had to remake this build, I would lower post control to 79 and offensive rebound to 60 to get 96 stamina and 80 free throw. Doing that I wouldn't lose any badges and I think the stamina would really help, the free throw is just personal preference.
Honestly, the build plays way better than I thought it would. Im not sure how good it would be online but I'm sure if you are skilled it would probably work.
This is about as far from meta as possible and almost every attribute gets you a badge or animation. I probably wasted a good 3 hours of my life making this so I just wanted to share.

2024.05.19 14:55 iKindred [Other] [Online] WFRP 4E Free-form campaign - Saturdays 7PM UTC

Hi folks. We are looking to add 1-2 players to our group, with the option of playing multiple characters of your own, as well as some of our numerous NPCs.
WHAT:
We are playing a free-form game centered around running a village in the aftermath of the events of The Enemy Within (plenty of spoilers). We have a cast of resident NPCs as well as several PCs that each player controls. We like to take the game seriously but there's plenty of room for comedic relief as well. We have been playing together for over 3 years and we embrace the "rulings over rules" philosophy, as we know the system inside out. Please don't forget to include the word "gobbo" in your application.
Our plan is running a multi-session side adventure to get to know you, to give you a chance to know us and to weave all the new characters into the plot. We welcome new players, but we expect you to be proactive and grok the basics on your own time.
WHERE:
Dedicated Foundry VTT server. Private Discord server for voice and offline RP.
WHEN:
Weekly on Saturdays at 7PM UTC / 1PM CST. Sessions are around 3 hours long.
REQUIREMENTS:
HOW:
Please make sure you have read this post and understand it. Then submit the form at https://forms.gle/qNFgfhAQPBiULEJFA
