2024.05.19 21:34 Donnie-Joe myVegas Freeplay quick guide
I'm hoisting this to its own post with a few edits and clarifications, hopefully so people will find it easier.
This freeplay guide is excellent and comprehensive:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/myvegasguides/permalink/4088637667860237/ (You probably need to join that Facebook group first before you can view their guide)
But here's a short-ish version of the Freeplay rules:
ALL FREEPLAY (regular and myKonami) - All freeplay awards can only be used at the hotel named on the award. You have to go to that hotel's MGM Rewards desk (typically near the cashier) and have them load it onto your MGM Rewards account, just before you want to use it.
- Each player has a limit of MGM Premium awards they can use in a 30 day period, and all forms of freeplay are premium awards. Most players have a limit of 3, but if you spend money in the apps, that can get raised to 4, 5 or 6. You have to spend a fair amount; several hundred dollars at least to get 4, probably several thousand to get higher.
- You can get one award per "batch" of each specific award. The batches update randomly every few months and there's no indication in the apps. You just have to try to buy one and if you already got one from that batch it will say so. This is specific to a single award. If you get the $150 freeplay on one trip and the batch hasn't changed before your next trip, you can still get the $100 freeplay, because that's a separate award.
- Freeplay can be used on most slots and video poker machines, but not ones with a progressive jackpot (a big number on top of the machine that counts up constantly). Also some brand-new slots may not allow freeplay. When in doubt, try and see.
REGULAR FREEPLAY (not myKonami) - The regular freeplay awards have the name of the hotel they are for and an amount from $25-$150. They do not have a myKonami logo and are found in all of the apps' rewards section (including the myKonami app).
- You must be staying in a PAID room at the matching hotel, for the required number of nights in order to use a regular freeplay award. Each regular freeplay award lists the number of nights in the terms and conditions. If you think it's not there, read it again; it's a wall of text and it's easy to miss. If it's really not there, you're either viewing a myKonami award (see below), or some new award we've never seen.
- "Paid" just means the room is not a comp. You must have paid a room rate, not just the resort fee. It can booked via any method; direct, travel agency, Expedia, etc.
- One person per room can use one per trip.
- If you have multiple rooms, multiple DIFFERENT people, one per room, can use a regular freeplay
- Each person who is planning to use a regular freeplay needs to be listed as a guest on a room. If the room is not already in their name, they can be added as a guest by the front desk.
MYKONAMI FREEPLAY - myKonami awards look very different from the regular freeplay awards. They have a big "myKonami" logo, have "myKonami" in the name, and are much more expensive in loyalty points because they are less restricted. They are only found in the rewards section of the myKonami Slots app, along with all the other freeplay rewards.
- No room stay of any kind is required to use a myKonami award. You can be staying at a completely different non-MGM resort. You can be staying on a comp, either myVegas or MGM Rewards.
- You can have a myKonami AND a regular freeplay for the same resort
- You can buy and use one for each resort offered (currently 5: Aria, Bellagio, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Park MGM), subject to your Premium award limit and the batch limits.
- You can buy more than you intend to use, and that can be handy if your plans are fluid and you don’t know which resorts you’ll be visiting. You can get one of each, if you have the points, and return the ones you don’t end up using for a refund.
- You don't need to use myKonami rewards on Konami machines! Some of the myKonami awards have a line in the terms and conditions saying that they have to be used on some specific Konami slots. That may have been true at one time, but not any more. You can use them on any slot that is freeplay-enabled.
IMPORTANT: Sometimes you get an MGM rewards desk person who doesn't know the rules well and will tell you you've run out of premium awards, or that you can't combine myKonami with a regular award or something. Don't argue, just come back later when someone else is at the desk.

2024.05.19 21:32 herein2024 Luba 2 5000 vs Husqvarna 450EPOS - The Missing Comprehensive Comparison
So, I have the dubious honor of having owned both the Luba 2 5000 and the Husqvarna 450X EPOS at the same time for the same yard. I also have the Husqvarna 315X wired version as well. But in this post I want to provide a comprehensive comparison between the Husq 450X EPOS and the Luba 2 5000. There are already tons of vendor marketing materials, YouTubers with their reviews, etc. My goal is to provide a real comprehensive review, with no fanboyism, no hidden agenda, just as a homeowner who wants something that works reliably and that lasts.
In this post my goal is also to provide new information that I was not able to find anywhere when I was comparing these two prior to purchase, if you have any questions that you want answered that I did not cover here just let me know.
MY YARD
My yard is a pretty simple Florida rectangular acre with about 5 big oak trees and plenty more overhanging my yard from my neighbors' yards. I have about 1/2 acre in the back and about 0.30 acres in the front. I use the Husq 315X to mow the front and decided to buy a wireless version to mow the back. I also have a thin strip outside of the front fence that I mow on occasion after opening the gates and fences.
LUBA2 5000 vs HUSQ 450X EPOS Below I have arranged my findings by categories, with the most surprising being first.
- RTK / Wireless Performance (Winner - Luba) - This was without a doubt the biggest surprise for me. I thought I had a simple yard after setting up the Luba. I put the RTK antenna in the attic, set up the base station, mapped out the yard and was done. The Husq EPOS on the other hand performed 10x worse than the Luba. Same house, same attic, but the EPOS system would not lock onto the satellites. After an hour of fiddling, I moved the RTK antenna out of the attic and mounted it on a pole in my yard. The performance is still terrible, while mapping out my back yard even within 50' of the RTK station, the signal only shows 73%, and I spent hours having to drive the Husq 450X to the middle of the yard to get a signal then rushing back to the last waypoint to try to finish mapping. It took about 4hrs to map 0.5 acres. That was just the beginning of my problems though. It now likes to sit for up to an hour in one spot for some reason even though the app says it has a good EPOS signal. No idea if this is a hardware problem or a software problem but hopefully it can be fixed via software update. If this keeps up, I may have to set more no go areas and mow those areas with my lawn mower.....not a good thing.
- RTK App Feeback (Winner Luba) - The Luba 2 is great about showing you all of the satellite information; co-viewing, RTK satellites, and Luba 2 satellites. The 450X is the opposite, all you get to see is if EPOS is working or not with no way to troubleshoot it except to keep driving the mower around until it is fixed.
- Hardware Build Quality (Winner Luba) - The Luba 2 feels much sturdier and better built than the 450X. Also, the Luba 2 includes an RTK mounting pole whereas the 450X does not. The 450X EPOS is an older design and it does not appear that Husqvarna updated anything other than add an RTK module to their existing product line while doubling the price.
- App Useability (Winner - 450X) - The Husq mower app while not perfect is much better than the Lubas. Mapping is more intuitive; I like the way they used waypoints which is more accurate and more familiar than driving the mower from place to place without clearly defining points. The mowing pattern selection is much more intuitive as well and adding a mowing angle to a work area is perfectly done by simply dragging two dots until the line overlay matches the look you want. I do like Luba's way of showing the amount of work remaining/completed via shaded areas vs the eyesore redlines that Husqvarna uses. As previously mentioned though, the biggest shortcoming is that you can't do any satellite troubleshooting in the Husq app. With the Husq app you can also pause mapping and pick back up where you left off, you can save multiple mowing profiles (i.e. winter vs summer), and you can pause any mowing task, go do something else, then restart the mowing task instead of fiddling with percentages like in the Luba 2's app.
- Lawn Damage - (Winner - 450X) - The Husq 450X EPOS hands down causes less lawn damage than the Luba. No more crop circles, no damage in front of the charging station, it is a real joy to watch it turn on a dime with no endless grinding itself into the dirt. The Luba 2 got stuck all the time at the ends of rows, bases of trees, etc. as it tried to turn around in the soft dirt. It also killed untold numbers of seedlings which I will probably need to overseed.
- Mowing Speed - (Winner - 450X) - The Luba 2 has multiple mowing speeds that you can pick but if you are like me, you have no idea what is too fast or what is slower than necessary. The Husq has no mowing speed options but if you watch it, it automatically slows down on thicker patches of grass and speeds up on recently mowed patches. This not only gets the yard done faster while extending the battery life, it also makes the setup simpler.
- Mowing Height - (Winner - 450X) - The Luba 2 lets you set the height and so does the 450X, the nice thing about the Luba is that it gives you the exact height in inches (or cm) vs the 450X where you have to do you own math to figure out what 1 or 2 or 3 mean in inches or cm. The reason why the 450X still wins for me though is because it is much faster at adjusting the height when it needs to. The Luba 2 bogged down a lot and ground itself into the ground when the blade was too low for the terrain. The 450X seems to adjust its blades in real time and never seems to stop and get stuck on bumps even with the blade set at 1".
- Connectivity - (Winner 450X) - The Husq 450X EPOS includes 10yrs of LTE data and also includes Bluetooth connectivity. The Luba 2 relies on wireless and Bluetooth and if you want LTE you have to buy your own SIM and data plan. Many times the Luba 2 would grind itself into the ground then just turn off. I would then need to go hunt for it in the yard, turn it on, connect via Bluetooth, move it out of the hole it had dug, then wait for it to get a satellite fix before I could get it to do anything. The 450X with LTE is always accessible until the battery dies. With the improvements in connectivity, the anti-theft features are also much better.
- Audible Beeps (Winner 450X) - This was a big problem for me with the Luba 2. It beeps all the time (when its adjusting the cutting height, returning to the charging station, searching for a satellite signal, starting a mowing job, on the charging station, leaving the charging station, etc, etc.). The charging station is right outside of my bedroom window so I had to start running it in the daytime just to keep from being woken up. The 450X EPOS does not do any of that, it shows everything via the app and the status LED on the top, no endless beeps.
- Perimeter Mowing Logic (Winner 450X) - I never understood why the Luba 2 put so much emphasis on perimeter laps, to me it's just the first row to be mowed, apparently the 450X EOPS thinks so too and treats it as such. The perimeter was being badly chewed up by the Luba 2 since it is the least level areas of my yard, the 450X EPOS just mows it without fuss and no digging in and getting stuck at the base of my fences.
- Battery Replacement (Winner 450X) - the 450X EPOS battery can be replaced in about 10min and they are readily available from a dealer, eBay, and others. The Luba 2's battery replacement story is still very murky to me.
- Blade Performance (Winner 450X EPOS) - The Husq automowers spin both clockwise and counterclockwise after every recharge, this means that you do not have to flip the razors over every xx number of hours. The Luba 2 does not have this feature.
OVERALL WINNER (TIE)
Right now both the Luba 2 and the Husq 450X EPOS have a fatal flaw; the Luba 2 badly chews up my yard, and the 450X EPOS can't seem to find its RTK/Satellite Signals. At this point in time I do not know if the Luba's or 450X EPOS's problems are just software or a fundamental hardware problem. Mammotion is addressing their hardware design with the release of the Yuka, I can only hope the RTK problem with the 450X EPOS can be fixed via a firmware update.
I know the 450X EPOS won a lot of categories for me, but if it sits around in my yard all day searching for a signal then none of the rest of its features matter. RTK is so important to the fundamental operation of a wireless RTK robot that it supersedes all else in my book.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Luba 2 - I would recommend the Luba 2 if any of the below are true:
- Hilly yard - obviously the Luba 2 is the better of the two with its AWD
- Mature grass/hard ground - if you have a mature yard with hard clay or dirt that can handle the Luba 2's grinding donut turns then I would recommend the Luba 2
- Cost - If cost is your only concern then obviously the Luba 2 is a no brainer
- Trees / Obstructions - If your yard has even a few big trees or big obstructions, at least for now, the Luba 2 will far outperform the 450X EPOS when it comes to RTK performance
450X EPOS - I would recommend the Husq 450X EPOS if ALL of the below are true:
- You have a perfectly wide open yard with no trees or other obstructions
- You have a yard with new turf or soft dirt/sand
- Your yard is relatively flat
Wired Solutions - My front yard Husq 315X wire guided mower is great, problem free, and still uses a wire. I used a trenching machine, bought heavy duty 14 gauge wire, and buried it around 8" deep. In my opinion, if you can deal with installing the wire, not being able to change things later, and risk the wire breaks, wired is still the most reliable way to go. I think wireless mowers are very close to being mature, but something needs to come along to reduce the problems with satellite reception, RTK placement, and blockage from buildings and trees. We don't all have that perfect wide open yard with no trees or buildings.

2024.05.19 19:55 IlexIbis Nevada Road Trip Questions
| In June or July I intend to fly into Las Vegas, rent a vehicle, and explore your state for 7-10 days. I'm mainly interested in the scenic/secluded/historic/"old Nevada" areas and not the big city amusements. I'll have some minimal camping equipment with me (tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag) and would like to do a mix of camping and staying in hotels but want to keep it flexible day-to-day. The below is a preliminary route idea but I'm wondering if I'm missing out not visiting the more northerly part of the state. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/wz0klx0f8f1d1.png?width=857&format=png&auto=webp&s=46034c9b33e38865798e051e3bc0420e6d7cbe0b submitted by IlexIbis to Nevada [link] [comments] |
2024.05.19 18:21 SFCJack World Championship VIII (Season 8) FAQ
This is as much as we know about the presumed next BattleBots season from direct sources, fan content and numerous media articles. For more info, please check out the
BattleBots Wiki.
If anything is inaccurate, please specify what and the post will be updated!
Has World Championship VIII been filmed yet? No.
Is World Championship VIII happening? Nothing has been formally green-lit by Discovery as far as we know, but Greg and Trey seem confident that it will happen in time according to recent podcast and Builder Blog guest appearances.
Why is World Championship VIII taking so long? Around 12 months after filming for last season, the area surrounding BattleBots' permanent venue was transformed in preparation of F1 coming to Las Vegas. This led to there being no filming taking place in 2023 as roads had to be closed for construction work.
Since then, Discovery has merged with Warner Bros. in a big money deal. Writers and actors have also taken significant strike action across the industry, with an unfortunate byproduct of this being a number of Discovery shows being put on hold, not just BattleBots.
The Destruct-A-Thon live show has also started in the meantime, keeping BattleBots going in an untelevised capacity but also taking up resources on their end.
Builders need time to build, BattleBots need time to film and edit, and Discovery need time to advertise. It therefore looks
unlikely that we'll have Season 8 on our screens this year, but this is absolutely not confirmed.
Will World Championship VIII include new robots from Proving Ground? According to a few teams, several Proving Ground robots will be allocated places next season. It isn't confirmed whether this includes returning teams or is exclusive to brand new builds, as far as we know. The decision will likely be made based less on win/loss records and more on the robot's marketability and the team's ability to adhere to quick turnaround times.
Have any existing teams been confirmed to return for World Championship VIII? As per comments linked in the WCVIII Rumor Mill post, multiple teams from previous seasons have publicly stated their intention to return for next season. However, these should not be treated as confirmation of their places in the season.
Similarly to prior seasons, places will almost certainly be determined by the Selection Committee once the season is officially green-lit, and then revealed to Facebook Supporters before being public on the BattleBots website.
But what about Manta and Orbitron? Haven't they been accepted? Although Manta and Orbitron have been informally name-dropped by Greg and Trey respectively as being shoe-ins to be accepted, this is not indicative of the season being green-lit or either team being formally confirmed.

2024.05.19 16:46 Atomatic13 Here's a guide to beat "evacuate high value assets" on helldive difficulty
This mission is my favorite type. I hear a lot of people complain that it is too hard, but I believe its actually one of the easiest when you have the right strategy. Using this method you can pretty consistantly beat 9s assuming none of the bugs/glitches happen to you.
THE LOADOUT
All players should choose this loadout
-Armor: since there will be little movement in this mission, and a whole lot of explosions, I reccomend bringing either heavy armor, or "Democracy Protects" armor.
-Primary: for Terminids, I would reccomend the Breaker Incendiary, or the Scythe if you don't have it. For Automatons, use the Scorcher, or the Scythe if you don't have that.
-Support: for Terminids you will want to bring EATs and/or the Recoilless Rifle since bile titans can only be killed with Anti-tank. For Automatons you will want to bring the Laser Cannon, the Autocannon, or the Anti-Material Rifle. Personally I would reccomend the Laser Cannon since it shreds Hulks and Striders to pieces, and does do damage against tanks too.
-Strategems: for both factions, you want to bring both the regular mortar and the EMS mortar. This leaves 1 slot left for an "extra" strategem. Fill this with: EAT (automatons), Orbital Laser, either rocket or autocannon sentries, Eagle 500kg, or 120 Barrage. DO NOT EVER BRING THE 380 BARRAGE TO THIS MISSION.
A good combo for Terminids worth noting, however, is to bring the QuasaRR AND EATs. Shoot once with the former and spam the latter to kill.
From my experience, it may be helpful to have one player bring majority red strategems to deal with heavies that get too far.
SETUP AND STRATEGY
From the moment the game starts, you want to be calling down as many EATs as you can in a location close to or in front of the first door (closest to the generator). Closing the doors on this mission on level 9 does little to no good, and only prevents you from shooting back. Always place your mortars behind a wall where the enemy cannot get to them easilly. If you brought AC/rocket sentries, place them close to the 1st doogenerator so they can kill Bile Titans/Striders just in case they get too far. On the "spiral" map, my favorite area to place them is behind the L shaped wall by the landing pad. When the mission starts, your mortars should be killing all the "fodder" enemies like Devastators and Raiders. You can help this out by shooting explosives (Autocannon, Scorcher) into the dropships before they drop the enemies. You want to stay close to the first door in order to give heavies time to walk, since it takes a while for you to kill them (Bile Titans are FAST). You want to be placing your full attention on heavies whenever they spawn. If you brought EATs for Automatons, use them first to destroy the big cannon on top (it can snipe the generators on the spiral map) then destroy the machine guns using your Laser Cannon, rendering it harmless. Use the laser to focus on the eye slit to kill it. When facing Terminids, ALWAYS shoot bile titans in the head.
BUGS/GLITCHES
Unfortunately while this is the most fun mission type, its also the most broken. Some notable bugs to look out for is:
-On the "Spiral" map, dropships/bug breaches can sometimes spawn on the landing pad, giving them a straight shot to the generators
-Factory Striders on the "Spiral" map can snipe the generator off spawn and can also snipe the generators through the open section of the wall. This is why you always prioritize destroying thier cannon first.
-If players join or leave during the mission, there is a chance progress will freeze and you will he softlocked.
I hope this guide has been helpful! This is my favorite mission type because it feels like a "tower defense" corridor mission. I really hope Arrowhead will add more of these types of missions in the future, as it perfectly encapsulates the feeling of "defending" a planet.

2024.05.19 15:54 WorkingLime Venezuelan only electric company (state owned, so the government) has ordered to shut down all the mining farms in the country considering the high power consumption and constant blackouts (A big house with 2000kWh monthly bill only pays 6 USD monthly)
Hi there, I'm Venezuelan living here, crypto enthusiast.
Because the really low electricity price Venezuela has been a "good" option for mining crypto (no law is one of the disadvantages), last months the power failures and outage has increased a lot (I usually get service 16h daily, so 8h power blackouts usually in two rounds).
As I always like to point the economic situation, monthly minimum wage is around 3 USD and with bonuses and things you might do 100-120 USD monthly, average wage should be around 150 USD monthly! So government took the decisions to shut down all the mining farms, remember this is a lawless state if you aren't OK with that they might just put you in jail and/or seize all your machines.
There is only one electric company (state owned of course) called CORPOELEC.
Last week they changed the president of CORPOELEC, which was a military (yeah, of course!) some people say he was getting some bribes to allow the mining farms.
I'm sure there is people mining at home (maybe 1 machine could go unnoticed) but big scale operations aren't anymore.
This is Carabobo state governor showing one mining farm:

2024.05.19 15:21 TheCactusMonkey The Full Story of tominecon.7z and its Conclusion
| Let’s start with some background. On November 15th 2011 a compressed file called tominecon.7z was uploaded to assets.minecraft.com, three days before the first Minecon. People found the file back in 2012 and asked Notch on Twitter what it contained, to which he simply answered that it was the build of Minecraft 1.0. However, the compressed file was larger than the build of Minecraft 1.0 so people were not taking the explanation. The original file was replaced on August 8th 2012 with a decoy file, which was made by Tobias Möllstam to divert attention away from the original. More people asked Notch about the file, who yet again replied with Minecraft 1.0 and that he did not remember the password. Some even emailed Jeb about the file and got the same answer that the original file was the 1.0 version of Minecraft, but that it has since been replaced with a bogus one to entertain the world. Furthermore, Dinnerbone also mentioned multiple times that the file was not anything useful together with the following comments in the Minecraft@Home Discord server in 2020: “You'll be very disappointed in the results. Not every box is a mystery that needs solving.” “At the point where you've found something with a password and are considering throwing significant power in cracking said password, you start entering territory that I think is an actual crime in many places. Regardless of the contents, the act of breaking into something where you have no indication you are allowed in, and are trying to overcome a method of keeping you out.” “I can't stop you, and if the file were so confidential it would have been taken down years ago. But it isn't for you, the contents are not exciting, and there's a better way to spend electricity.” Even though, many years later, on March 13th 2022, the password for the decoy file got cracked by DannyDorito, revealing its content - a video of the episode “Be Yourself” from Petey Greene’s Washington and some random data for spoofing the file size. However, the password did not get disclosed until a year later. The password was revealed to be “thespicemustflow”. A few years passed and on May 8th 2024 a YouTuber named RetroGamingNow released their mostly comprehensive story about the file. A video that led to many people wanting to crack the password to the file, yet again. What many people did not understand though is that in order to crack the password, insane loads of computing power would be needed to make it possible. The reason the decoy was easy to crack was due to it having a simple password, which most likely wouldn’t be the case for the real original file. Just a few days ago, on May 17th 2024, Dinnerbone joined the recently-made tominecon Discord server, revealing a lot more information about the file and its contents in hopes of dispelling any further mystery. He mentioned that the file was put up on the assets.minecraft.com file server before the Mojang employees flew from Sweden to the US so that they could access a Minecraft 1.0 build from there before the official release. Dinnerbone himself used this file to update Bukkit during Minecon. “The biggest problem I have with this though, is that people assume they have a right to know or crack a password to something that they weren't meant to have. I don't know exactly why it was put on s3 but that was the 'easy' way of sharing things back then, and they probably just didn't think twice about it assuming it was hidden. Remember, this was a couple of developers running a super small operation, it was not the Minecraft or mojang of today. Nobody was looking into things like this. At some point during the tominecon hunt, people started to search for other password protected sites and files that they could get their hands on, using methods that absolutely aren't okay. Those could have had more sensitive things. This is not something anybody should encourage.” Many still wanted the password to the file, so he clarified that the password used for the tominecon.7z file was the same password they used for the WiFi in the old Mojang office, which has long since been changed. Therefore it is not the contents they care about, it’s the password. Dinnerbone further commented “If you get hold of a time machine and come visit the old old office, it'll be a bit embarrassing for someone.” Finally, he sent a screenshot of the decompressed tominecon.7z file revealing its contents. In the comments of the second RetroGamingNow video, he later revealed that he had to look for the password in an old email. The original tominecon.7z file opened in 7zip by Dinnerbone. Including release of Minecraft 1.0 and Minecraft server executable bundled with Java. (Dinnerbone also mentioned that the USB files of Minecraft that were used on Minecon without password protection included the same files.) He once again clarified that the contents were never a mystery and that whenever they got asked, they were very upfront about it. The reason why the compressed file had been larger than the release of Minecraft 1.0 was due to Java installers being bundled inside of it, as well as a Minecraft server executable. There are apparently 314 files in total in this archive. He even shared a fun fact about the file: “Here's a fun fact for you all though: When it was discovered that the file was public, and the decoy was made to swap it out - we assumed the password would be public knowledge basically that week. I guess we way overestimated the encryption. Hurray for 7z?” Ending the conversation, he once again wanted to clarify: “I'll reiterate what I wrote elsewhere here just for transparency: whilst this specific file (tominecon.7z) doesn't have anything confidential in it, the password was reused for something else at the time and I cannot risk free just give that password out. There was a time that the public having that password would be a Bad Thing, but that time was over a decade ago. I will not stop people from trying to find the password for this archive, and I do not believe anyone else will either. However - this does not mean anyone is free to try and crack other archives or things that we haven't given permission for. This file was unintentionally made public, it was not intended to be given out - and the password was a safety measure to make sure that even if it did end up in someone elses hands, it's not a big deal. Please do not try and break into every lock you see, that's just not okay. Sometimes the locks are there for a reason, not just as a fun challenge.” He mentioned that he does not want people to nag him about it and that “It's brought up every single year, I'm hoping this is the last 😉”. Finally putting an end to a 13 year old mystery. Go watch the YouTube videos below to get a full video on the topic: - MCBYT’s video about the decoy file: https://youtu.be/ZmlphRQl4Pk
