2024.05.19 22:34 a9249 I've done everything right but still feel like a looser who can't find work?

Apologies for the long ranty post but I honestly don't know what to do. I've had quite a tremendous "career path?" "Job path?" and amount of experience so far. Annoying its either getting overlooked or assumed to be lies (I've literally had to whip out photos in interviews). I hope someone reads this has been in a similar situation or points me in a direction i've never thought of. Yes, I've been to a professional resume-guy.
Male, Nearly 40; elder millenial. I started my professional life in a data-center transferring videotapes after school; which lead to a job on set in film doing data management [cards off camera, obsolete now]. Eventually the industry got so saturated with new grads that I was getting overlooked for contracts because they had a degree and I did not. Never been a great networker.
Additionally, a lot of "normal" job interviews at regular companies for AV type roles [identical job to what I was doing on set] ended with 'we love your experience but HR requires a graduate'.
SO... at great expense... I got myself a Bsc fast by doing trimester. Geography and geo-spatial analysis (no idea what to do, but like maps; wanted out of media, so went with it) with minor in resource management. Going back to school at 30 sucked, not looking to repeat that at 40.
Got lucky; Got a a great job working in aerial LiDAR but requires 100% travel. (being a tour guide during re-school really paid off here). The job itself is 80% the same as I was doing for data-management in film, but with LiDAR sensors instead of film cameras.... and like in film, over the past 5 years this job has been increasingly watered down to the point any new grad can do it (and they are for 15/hr). The company I work for got bought a few times and now are playing games in hopes I [and other legacy hires] quit for, as a work-friend put it - being "too expensive". There is no upward mobility at this company; managers have been here 20+ years and scared for THEIR jobs. We are a sole-product contractor.
What I've been looking for, in the past year:
GIS: most direct from current role, but now everyone I interview with wants compsci and code tests.
Ground survey: pays 15/hr, requires an expensive license, and has high turnover for a reason.
Terrestrial LiDADrone LiDAR: Everyone I've talked to is one-man-band and not able to provide enough work/income.
Datacenter: Well experienced but the few callbacks want a masters compsci and a code test to change rack units ....for 15/hr.
Aviation purchasing / part management. - 90% of my day to day right now is dealing with this flavor of airplane problems. Just have no idea how to break into it as my official role. It seems to be behind an AME license.
I've had many interviews that go no where or terrible [min wage] offers from most of these positions. Everyone wants a different list of certifications specific to that particular role. I have considerable skills and experience from my quite varied past jobs. I guess I'm not really understanding why I've been having such problems finding something that pays a professional wage despite having all the school and experience that should earn me that by now?
I have no idea what to do next; no idea what the next step is... All the callbacks have dried up in the last few months. Wondering if anyone on here might read this and have better ideas? Please post any career paths or job titles you think might work for me.
If you think going back, again, is the best option, please... post the course and why you think that degree would be a worthwhile investment in 20 years.
Thank you for reading... I hope the reddit hive mind can help crowdsource something I never considered.
TLDR: Media background with geography degrees and direct experience unable to find new work that pays more than min-wage. IDEAS?!

2024.05.19 21:45 ItzASecretBoi Attempting to remove VeinMiner, but I can't find it. [Help?]

Hey, if you've clicked on this post, your probably willing to help me out real quick, I'm working on a vanilla ++ modpack for a modded game with me and my buddies, but for some reason I have Vein Miner, which I personally would like to remove. Unfortunately for me I can't find it and I've scanned this pack like 5 times now, and I cannot for the life of me find the Vein Miner mod.
If anyone glances at this and just so happens to know the culprit, thanks!

2024.05.19 17:44 Klutzy-Suspect2159 Optimization tips and KW

Here is a list of things I've commented in other threads that may help people use kinky world and optimize their sims game.
Computer optimization info:
Here is a huge forum post that gives a step by step for having the sims 3 run on newer gen computers without crashing. Something I wish was clarified a bit more is that the sims must be run graphically at 2048mb (2gb) even if you have a new computer that may run at a higher rate. There is a step in the guide where this information is needed.
Know that the sims 3 must be forced capped at 60 fps because there is not a frame limiter built in. (airplane computer sounds)
You can play around with higher settings but use at your own risk!
I also didn't place the smooth patch package file into my mods folder (installed everything else). You can play around with it in or out (no consequence), but it made my game crash.
STEAM GUIDE
There is also an autosave mod thats is a LIFE SAVER for me because I hate prompts, pausing after saving, and having to rename my saves. Just autosave like most new gen games do. You can toggle all of these settings.
Save
Dont forget to turn it on in every new save.
Kinky World Info:
If you go on their patreon and scroll to update, build 409. it's free, and it's the last provided update since they've been creating a really cool looking game.
Here is a link to the Patreon
PATREON
and here is a link to the drive folder with the required meshes.
DRIVE
Also, here is the website for the original free version and its requirements/incompatibility list
LOVERSLAB
A lot of older needed mods can be found here
SEXYSIMS
All of the needed assets can be found on Sexysims (Cmar for example).
Ooolala is a creator that has additional animations that are nice. Sexysims is adult modthesims.
It conflicts with other hospital mods and Nraas story progression. Some people use them together, but to prevent crashing I just removed them. You can use other Nraas mods if they're not noted to conflict. Awesome mod also works.
If this needs to be flagged in some way then lmk and I'll edit my post.
Happy simming <3

2024.05.19 15:14 Expensive_Meeting_75 S24 (Snapdragon) Roundup

Got the SD S24 256 Marble Grey (Best Colour of the S24 line-up imo) imported from HK about a week ago been loving the phone so far.
Positives
The phone runs buttery smooth and pretty cool even while playing games, the stability of the device is excellent. Runs cool even on mobile data (4G/4G+) initial bootup heated up the phone quite a bit (Due to the initial set up processors) and never been ever since even while being in a country with a average temperature of about (30C - 31C).
The battery life of the device is amazing. I have configured the device following many reddit posts, which I have listed the settings below for context.
I average about 8hrs of SOT with 80% Battery Usage with mixed usage of Gaming, Spotify, YouTube, X, Chrome and using the camera. The phone Loses about 4 % battery while on WIFI stand by (6 to 7 hrs), if airplane mode is turned on and WIFI Turned off it loses about 2% battery. I have attached few screen shots of few days to get an idea.
Day 6 - https://imgur.com/WAVJJ1W
Day 7 - https://imgur.com/YFnQNMC
The speakers on the device doesn't have the best bass and fullness compared to a iPhone 15 but using wavelet and tuning it to my preference made a big difference, making it more fuller and improving the bass by quite a lot.
Negatives
There has been one negative so far which is the noise in pictures taken in moderate low light (indoor scenes) without night mode, the noise is mainly visible if you try to zoom in unless it is not quite noticeable, I was able to significantly reduce the noise using camera assistant picture softening set to high.
Overall
The phone has been a delight to use been playing around the settings and exploring features everyday.

Chapter 1 Part 1 WARNO soviet SEED problem
In our wonderful Warno game, unfortunately, Soviet aviation is extremely incorrectly and unrealistically implemented. With this post, I would like to start a series of analyses of the shortcomings that are present in our game. To begin with, only 1 USSR SEAD out of 5 is correctly and realistically implemented and this is the MIG-25BM with KH-58.
MIG-27K and KH-27PS missiles
Let's start the analysis with the MIG-27K (SEAD) aircraft. In real life, the MIG-27K cannot carry a KH-28 missile because it is too big for MIG, which made it impossible to place it on the pylon. Even in the game on models, you can see this in the 2nd screenshot. Yes, the USSR wanted to give the MIG-27 the opportunity to carry the KH-28, but they did not succeed, so the USSR developed a new missile of this class specifically for the MIG-27K. It is called KH-27PS and it is made on the basis of the KH-25 rocket. MIG-27K had the ability to carry 2 KH-27PS with an additional container called "VIUGA". This can be seen in the photo below.

MIG-27K and KH-31P
Honestly, it would look much more realistic if the MIG-27K flew with 2 KH-31P than with KH-28. At least 3 MIG-27K were made in the USSR that could use such a missile. 10 sets of retrofits for MIG-27K were also manufactured, but they did not have time to install them on airplanes as the USSR collapsed. In the photo below you can see the experimental planes with the KH-31P. I'm actually against this kind of prototype, but in any case, it's interesting.

2024.05.19 10:58 jenajiejing The Secret of Human Bodies – Examples Proving the Existence of the Greatest Creator

Xue Feng Though the modern medicine has limited knowledge of human bodies, what we have known is enough for us to admire the excellent human body structure and functions. Each system and organ in the human body is designed by the Greatest Creator. Even those trivial body parts have great functions. For example, there are several types of hairs on human bodies with distinct forms and functions. The head hair is designed to protect and beautify the head. It can grow long. According to the Bible, “But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” The eyebrows can divert sweat and rain, preventing them into the eyes. That’s why they are lined above the two eyes. Eyelashes can prevent the dust and other things from entering the eyes. That’s why they are lined on the sides of the eyelids. Also they stand forward in a special curve because it wouldn’t hinder the eyesight or pierce into the eyes when closing the eyes. If the eyebrows and eyelashes are too long, they will hinder the eyesight. That’s why they wouldn’t grow as long as the hair or beards. The nasal hairs can filter the inhaled air. That’s why they grow inside the nostril and stand sideways and outwards. If they stand inwards, the other things will find it easy to come into the nostrils and difficult to go out. The armpit hairs can prevent the partial friction and help the sweat evaporate. Without the armpit hairs, we have to raise our arms. Otherwise the skin under the arm will become inflamed because of the friction and moist. Required by the function, the armpit hairs cannot grow as long as the head hairs, or as short as the eyebrows. Besides, they are soft and curving. If they are rigid and coarse, they will hurt the skin. And cilia grow on the intestinal epithelium. The cilia grow downward and vibrate together. The vibrating waves move downward from upward to help move down the intestinal contents. Cilia also grow on the airway and bronchus epithelium. However, they grow and vibrate in the opposite direction as those on the intestinal epithelium. Only in this way can they move the sputum upward to the throat and spit them. If they grow downward, the airway and bronchus would get stuck by the sputum and the humans would die from it. Now I wish to take two simple reflections of human bodies as an example. When foreign matters enter the nostrils or airways, they will arouse two protective reflections, sneeze or cough, which is designed to repel the foreign matters. But due to different situation, these two reflections differ in their approaches. The foreign matters in the nostrils are not urgent so the sneeze reflection can be prepared in a composed way. First, inhale slowly; open the mouth, and the soft place move upward to block the nostril. Then breathe in enough air through the mouth, and the pleural body contracts sharply to emit the air in the lungs quickly. When the emitting reaches its peak, the tongue rises abruptly to block the mouth to repel the air to go out swiftly through the nostrils. In this way the foreign matters in the nostrils are driven out. However, if the foreign matters enter the airway, it is an emergent situation. If the foreign matters are not driven out timely, the life will be put at risk. The inhaling is strictly forbidden because it will make the foreign matters go deeper and cause suffocation. So the cough doesn’t include the inhaling. Instead, the glottis closes immediately. At the same time, the pleural body contracts suddenly and adds the lung air pressure extremely. When the pressure is at its strongest point, the glottis opens suddenly and the lung air sends out explosively, compelling the foreign matters in the airway to the throat via the glottis. At this time, the soft place rises to block the nostrils. The foreign matters are spit out through the mouth. If the tongue and the soft place perform the same way as in the sneeze, the foreign matters emitted out of the airway will enter the nostrils, causing another trouble. In these two reflections, the body parts must cooperate closely. Any failure in the coordination will lead to the failure of the reflection, causing serious consequences. So these activities are not done freely. Instead, they are done as required by their functions and set procedures. These procedures are not learnt or practices. The program has been rooted in our brain nerve structure (nerve nucleus) when we are born. Otherwise, the babies will not survive. The advanced computer science has made it possible to simulate these activities. However, the simulation requires 3 conditions: 1. Device simulating the inhale and exhaling of human mouth, nose, throat, pleural and the sensing device; 2. The central control equipment simulating nerves and body system (compute, input and output devices). The above two devices are hardware. And software is also needed, namely (3). A program composed in strict compliance with the requirements to control the performance and procedure of each link, and arrange them in perfect coordination. All the three conditions are imperative. Otherwise the reflections can’t be realized. The program itself is not a substance structure. Instead, it is a smart use and spiritual result. There will be no such a thing as the program without the smart use. So we have to ask, the program is composed by the humans and stored in the computer, how about the control program in the human brain. Is it also composed by someone and stored in the human brain? Sneeze and cough are the simplest examples. There are numerous automatically controlled physical, bio-chemical and pathological human body activities, which are even more sophisticated than reflections of cough. Even today, some of them remain mysteries to us. So how are these sophisticated control programs composed? And where do they come from? Now let’s have a look at the sensory organs on human bodies. Why do we have two ears? The reason is that one ear is not able to identify the direction. With the ears lying on two sides of the head, the sound reaches the ears in sequence of time. Based on the slight receiving time difference, the brain can judge where the sound comes from. The auricle is the most outward component of the ear. It can introduce the sound into the external auditory canal. Within the auricle there is a thin layer of cartilage helping to retain the form of auricle, giving it wonderful elasticity and protecting it from the clashes. Without the cartilage, the auricle is just two useless pieces of skin hanging on the head side. If the thin bone is inside the auricle, it will break easily even if when you are sleeping on your side, damaging the auricle. There is fuzz on the outer segment of the external auditory canal preventing the sand and dust. The inner segment secretes cerumen to prevent insects. When foreign matters enter the external auditory canal, it will trigger head shaking, instead of sneeze or cough, to get the matters out. Because the external auditory canal is a blind passage, it is impossible to repel the foreign matters with air. Why don’t the foreign matters in the nostrils arouse the head-shaking reflection to repel them? That’s because the nostrils of humans almost lie in the middle of the head. The shaking is not able to produce enough centrifugal force. Besides, the human nostrils face downward and it is improper to repel the foreign matters by shaking the head. The sound is produced by the mechanical vibration of objects and is transmitted by the air fluctuation, or the sound waves. The human ears are actually working like a precise mechanical vibration monitor. In the inner ear there are a number of keyboards with different sizes, producing nerve impulses produced by echoing with corresponding frequencies. The brain, in accordance with the features of these impulses, identifies the strength, tunes and timbre of the sounds. We must note though there are many sensory organs in human bodies, only the inner ear is protected by the most solid and firm bones. In fact, it lies in the cave part of the temporal bone. Of all the sensory organs, only the ears monitor the mechanical vibration, which needs a relatively fixed position. Otherwise, it is not able to monitor the sound. If the inner ear lies in the soft tissues, when the sound wave arrives, the inner ear will vibrate with it. Thus it can hear nothing. Now the inner ear lies in the firm bone and it can’t sense the air vibration. So it is imperative to reduce the density waves to the mechanical vibrations before sending them to the inner ear. And there is such a reduction device at the middle bottom of the external auditory canal, which is called the eardrum. The eardrum has enough space to receive the air pressure. It is thin enough to vibrate when the sound wave arrives. Meanwhile, the eardrum is strong enough to push the transmission device. The long handle of the middle ear cartilage is attached to its inner side, the tensile force of which makes the eardrum sink inside slightly to maintain certain tension. This allows the eardrum to accurately reduce the arriving sound waves into the mechanical vibrations. No matter what the temperature is, the vibration function is not impacted. After the sound waves are reduced into the mechanical vibration, some rigid objects are needed to transmit the vibration to the inner ear. Of all body tissues, the most rigid objects are the bones. However, the bones are heavy in general and covered by the soft tissues, which are not suitable for the audio vibration. However, in the tympanic cavity between the eardrum and the inner ear, there are three unique tiny bones with delicate forms measured in millimeters. They are almost completely exposed to the air in the tympanic cavity. These three tiny bones are connected by ligament and form a transmission chain in curve with excellent audio vibration function, able to transmit accurately the vibration of the eardrum to the inner ear. The transmission device can properly multiply the weak vibration and reduce the strong sound wave. All of these structures are the super designs required by the acoustics. There are even smarter designs in the hearing organ. For example, to make the eardrum vibrate freely following the arriving sound waves, the two sides of the eardrums must be exposed to the air. As a result, there is a tympanic cavity full of air in the middle ear. If the cavity is filled by liquids, just as other cavities are, the eardrum is not able to vibrate because the liquids can’t contract. Besides, the cavity does not only need to be filled with air, but also needs to be connected to the outside world with a proper passage, to balance the static air pressure in the cavity with the outside air pressure. Otherwise, the air in the cavity will gradually be absorbed, causing the eardrum to sink excessively or damaging it. When the outside air pressure changes, (such as in mountain climbing, diving, the airplane takeoff or climate change), it will arouse uncomfortable feelings or lead to hearing malfunction. But the middle ear can’t be opened to the outside world directly, just like the external auditory canal or nostrils can. The reason is that the direct exposure will make the arriving waving sound reach the two sides of the eardrums at the same time via the external auditory canal and middle ear passage, counteracting the sound pressure. Thus the eardrums will not vibrate at all, unable to produce the hearing. So it is a difficult problem to connect the middle ear and the outside world. However, the human body, with a smart design, solves this problem. The middle ear is opened at the two sides in the upper rear of the pharynx via a half-opened passage (the so-called auditory tube). The auditory tube is locked in common times and only opened temporarily when taking the swallowing actions, balancing the air pressure in the middle ear shortly. After the swallowing action is over, the auditory tube is locked again. Apart from eating, human body would regularly take swallowing action unconsciously, even when he or she is sleeping. Thus the air pressure in the middle ear can be adjusted from time to time and avoid the hearing from being hindered. Besides, when swallowing, the swallowing segment and the soft palate will definitely rise, blocking the mouth and nostrils against the outside world. So on the moment when the ear and throat are opened shortly, though the air in the throat can enter the middle ear, the sound waves from the outside world are blocked against the middle ear. As a result, the hearing will not be interfered and can receive the outside sound and voice. Only the throat in the body can meet the special demand of the hearing organs. The throat is originally designed as part of the digestion and breathing system, it does not belong to sensory system. However, it can cooperate so smartly with the hearing organs. We have to admire the extremely delicate body-wise design. The vestibule in the inner ear controls the balance of the body. In the vestibule there are 3 semicircular canals. When the body loses balance, the mutually-vertical semicircular canals produce the balance impulse, which triggers the corresponding reflection via the balance center in the medulla brain. Why are there 3 semicircular canals instead of 2 or 4? And why are they mutually vertical? The reason is apparent. Humans live in the 3-dimensional space. There are 3 mutually-vertical movement directions, namely, front and rear, left and right, upward and downward. So the 3 mutually-vertical semicircular canals can monitor the movements. The number less than 3 or more than 3 would be insufficient or redundant. We can see the delicate and smart structure and function, and the supreme wisdom in them. They can’t be the accidental results. As the most important perception of human bodies, vision provides more information than that provided by all other perceptions. The vision is the perception of image and space and the visual organs must have the most precise and accurate structure completely different from other sensory organs. As a result, in the perspective of the embryo-genesis or neuro-anatomy, the main structure of the eyes is not just the common receptor. Instead, it is part of the cerebral cortex. The so-called optic nerves are completely different from other cerebrospinal nerves. In essence, the optic nerves are inner structure in the brain, transmitting the most sophisticated visual information. The eyes function like a precise camera. The retina composed of the photoreceptor cells is just like the films. The crystal, iris and the cornea works like the lens, diaphragm and the filter. However, the precision and automatic adjustment of the eyes is no match of any high-quality cameras. For example, the lens in modern cameras is made of special glass or hard plastics with fixed focal distance. When taking pictures for the landscapes with different distances, the lens position must be adjusted. Otherwise, the image will not be produced on the films. But this is an awkward approach. Imagine when the eyes are watching landscapes with different distances, the eyeballs have to protrude or recess alternatively, which looks ugly or damages the health and function of the eyes. However, the crystal in the eyes are transparent and elastic colloid, which can adjust automatically the focal distance in accordance with the distance of the objects to make sure all the objects can be imaged on the retina, without changing the position of the crystal. Such automatic adjustment function can’t be fulfilled by any camera. If we observe the eyes in the perspective of modern TV technologies, the eyes are more like the television camera, but thousands of times more precise than the television cameras. The TV image is composed of dense pixels (the mixed dark or brilliant light spots). Till now, the best TV image only contains less than 1 million pixels. However, the human eyes can produce image containing 20 billion pixels. Only the eyes can see the details of objects. No matter how clear or accurate the image is, it is still a plan view image. Then how the eyes can provide the dimensional image is a key issue of providing the complete vision. But it is not an easy task at all to convert the flat view image into the dimensional one. For a long time, people have been puzzled by how the conversion is done. Of course, we later knew the smartness and delicacy of the human body shown here. The two eyes send the flat view images they receive into the same nerve center, which contrasts and analyzes the images and judges the distance of the objects based on the slight visual angle difference caused by the position difference of the two eyes. Thus the dimensional image is produced. That’s why people have to have 2 eyes to establish the complete vision. Based on such understanding, humans have invented the dimensional movies. But the above is only the external process of how vision is formed. People have little knowledge about how the visual center works inside. We have to admit that the mysteries of human body structure and functions are beyond the intelligence of mankind. As a matter of fact, the distance judgment with two eyes is the triangulation technique which is precise and automatic. The accurate measurement needs two premises. First, the two eyes must focus on one object at the same time. Otherwise, there will be double vision, which means the one objects will be seen as two objects. As a result, the complete neuromuscular system is equipped on the outside of the eyeballs, making the eyeballs the most flexible and accurate organs. The ciliary muscle inside the eyeballs can adjust the conversion rate of the crystal at any time to focus on the object and form the clearest image. Second, the retina of the two eyes must be strictly symmetrical. Otherwise, the image contrast of the two eyes will become impossible. Furthermore, the images received by the two eyes must be transmitted at the same time to the same visual center for contrast and analysis. There are two visual nerves on the left and right side of the brain, supervising respectively the two sides of the vision field. The objects in the left of the vision field are reflected, via the eye pupil, on the retina of the right sides of the two eyeballs. The corresponding images in the two eyes, via the visual nerve, are sent to the visual center on the right side of the brain. The objects in the right of the vision field are reflected, via the eye pupil, on the retina of the left sides of the two eyeballs. The corresponding images in the two eyes, via the visual nerve, are sent to the visual center on the left side of the brain. The two visual nerves contrast the corresponding images coming from the eyes and produce the full-field dimensional images. The pairs of human parts are often symmetrical on the outside. Only the retinas are symmetrical in the same position. Namely, the left side is symmetrical to the left side and the right side symmetrical to the right side of the two retinas. That’s because the light rays come in directly. Otherwise, the visual centers can’t receive the corresponding images or get the coordinated vision. The structural symmetry of the retinas in the two eyes must be accurate to the utmost. Otherwise the images in the two eyes will not comply with each other and the ambiguity will occur. Besides, the corresponding images from the two eyes must be sent to the same visual center. Thus the optic nerves must have the corresponding special structure to realize the cross-transmission of the images. This is the unique “chiasma opticum” unique to the optic nerves. This function is not possessed by any other nervus cerebrospinalis because they don’t handle the information of images and space. If we use the computers and monitoring cameras to simulate the process of human vision, the input network of the computers has to have a similar chiasm. No other design can do it. Judging from the above, we can find all the human organs, structures and functions have shown the supreme wisdom. And these are the ways they should be. Some people think that human body has some useless organs, such as the thymus gland, appendix, tonsil and coccyx, in order to prove the human structure is imperfect. Some people used to believe that these organs were not that useful. Instead, they tend to arouse diseases such as appendicitis and tonsillitis. If these organs are cut off, it will not have much impact on the human body. In the past, people used to classify spleens and other organs into the useless organs. There was a list of useless organs in the past which included over 100 organs. But the list was long not because these organs are useless but because people at the time were ignorant. As more we know about the organs, most of them have been deleted from the list and there are only a few still remain in the list. Some people think that these organs are the leftovers of human evolution, which are called the “waste back organs” and use them as one of the evidences of evolution theory. This is a complete misunderstanding. Till not we have understood there are no such things as the “obsolescent organs”. It is simply the lack of knowledge of these organs. Take the thymus gland as an example. In the past, people didn’t know its function. Now we have understood it is the warning device of the human body against the inner and outer infection sources. As a result, the thymus gland contributes a lot to the human health. Another example, if the coccyx fractures, it will cause serious functional disturbance. So the coccyx is also an imperative part of human body. Some people might say these organs can trigger diseases. Then all human organs can lead to diseases, even brain and heart are of no exceptions. Why don’t we say the brain and heart are useless? Some organs, though they are not as important as the heart and brain and wouldn’t endanger life immediately when eliminated, are also useful. Just like if the hands or feet are lost, though not fatal, the human body is handicapped. After knowing the supreme and smart design of human structures and functions, you might want to know how they come into being. Who has designed and made such sophisticated and precise organs? We cannot avoid the question. Any truth-seeking person would admit that the extremely delicate organs and structures are not produced naturally or accidently. For instance, if someone gives you a top-class camera and tells you it is a natural one without designer or manufacturer; do you think his words are scientific and acceptable? The human body, which is even more delicate, accurate, flexible and practical, must have a supremely wise and capable creator behind it. On a spring Sunday morning in 1954, I saw a young stranger sitting in the chamber of a Church. When we started to talk, I knew that he was a student at Peking Union Medical College. He said to me, “Since I studied anatomy and physiology, I have felt the human body is really a wonder. It is not possible to understand it unless we interpret the wonder with a God.” He came to the church to seek an answer. The wonder of this young man is not the only example. I remember that when I was studying anatomy and physiology in school, some students surrounded our physiology teacher and kept asking him questions. Finally, the teacher, annoyed by so many questions, told us, “Please stop the questions because they will lead to religion in the end.” Because of the special political background at the time, the teacher’s warning silenced all the students. But his warning impressed me deeply and remained in my memory till today. My thought at that time was that the teacher was right because all the things were created by the God. Though he was not a Christian, he had to admit the truth and the further probe into the human body mysteries (part of the Universe mysteries) would definitely lead to the existence of the God (religion) in the end. Otherwise, it would be impossible to explain the wonders of the human body. The Bible says, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”(1:20 Romans 1) Was the teacher demonstrating his scientific spirit? No. The scientific spirit means the truth and boldly pursuit of the truth without avoiding any controversy. The teacher knew very clearly that one more step forward would lead to the God but he dared not move onto the path towards the truth. Instead, he asked his students to stop there. It has shown that many people refuse to admit the existence of God not because they don’t have the scientific spirit but because of the social pressure, individual consideration for their interest and prospect, just as what the teacher was doing at that time. Nevertheless, the existence of the God would not change. And we cannot live in such considerations for the reality forever. One day in the future, when we have to face the ultimate choice, we will have to face the supreme master who has created the Universe and the human beings. The Bible says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” If we don’t accept the immoral God now, we have no excuse when it comes to the day. When we talk about the origin of all things in the Universe, some young people often ask, “You have said the humans are created by the God, then who has created the God?” The analogizing logics seem to be reasonable. But it is not true. Because the God is the creator instead of the created, you can’t link these together. The table is made by the carpenter. But you cannot say the carpenter and the table have the same origin. Human benings’ understand of the God is only limited to the enlightenment from the God to the humans. Otherwise, humans cannot understand the mystery of God’s nature. The God says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Exodus 3:14 and Revelation 1:8). For the God, there is only the eternality, and there is no time, beginning or ending. Even in the scientific field, too many analogizing questions won’t be tolerated. One scholar was talking about the belief in the God with his students. One student asked suddenly and proudly, “Where does the Universe come from?” The scholar answers, “The Universe is created by the God.” The student continued to ask, “Who has created the God?” The scholar answered, “The God is Alpha and Omega and I am not created.” The student said, “This is not scientific at all.” The scholar then asked the student, “Where does the Earth come from?” The student answered, “The Earth comes from the Sun.” The scholar continued to ask, “Where does the Sun come from?” The student answered, “The Sun comes from the Galaxy.” The scholar asked again, “Where does the Galaxy come from?” The student hesitated and answered, “The Galaxy comes from the nature.” The scholar continued to ask, “Where does the nature come from?” The student couldn’t answer this question and said in anger, “The nature is the nature and comes naturally.” The scholar then laughed, “This is not scientific at all.” So we can conclude that the “scientific” answers are not scientific. Another example is that the sciences tell people that substances are composed of the molecules. Then what are the molecules composed of? The molecules are composed of the atoms. But what are the atoms composed of? They are composed of the electrons, protons and neutrons. Then what are the electrons, protons and neutrons composed of? Till now, we cannot find an answer to this question. The atomic physicists are now working hard to find the “elementary particle”. They are called “basic particles” because the scientists don’t expect the substances to be divided limitlessly. So they believe that one day they will find the ultimate component, the “elementary particle”. Of course, the scientists will not ask such question of “what is something composed of?” This is the extremity and everything ends here. The materialists claim that the Universe is limitless and that the materials are eternal and can be divided limitlessly, etc. They are simply the groundless conclusion of the philosophers. And there is an extremity in their logics, the materials. They say that the materials are Alpha and Omega but can’t tell where the materials come from. Now let’s have a look at the math. All numbers come from 1, followed by 2, 3…. You can’t ask what the 1 is because 1 is 1, and not other numbers. It means that 1 is the origin of all numbers. The Greatest Creator has created all things and the Greatest Creator is the origin of them. It will be meaningless to ask where the Greatest Creator comes from.

Though the modern medicine has limited knowledge of human bodies, what we have known is enough for us to admire the excellent human body structure and functions.
Even in the scientific field, too many analogizing questions won’t be tolerated. One scholar was talking about the belief in the God with his students. 2024.05.19 10:46 bleak-avocado (Opinion) Pelican damage *feels* like a bug

For the first 50 levels or so, I'd occasionally hit a "bug" where Pelican-1 either was totally busted, or would take off with only a single player. My friends all thought the same, and groups I was in with strangers would complain about "pelican bug again :(" in chat.
I recently saw a couple of posts about it being intentional - if pelican takes too much damage, it only takes a single player at the end.
Mind blown.
But specifically, mind blown because there was nothing in-game to hint that pelican damage was a mechanic. Yeah, there's the fire, but... everything in Helldivers is on fire a lot of the time. There's no voice line talking about damage, there's no indicator of pelican health in the HUD.
And I don't feel it's just me being dumb; barely anyone in game seems to know about the mechanic, making it impossible to work together to get samples onto a single player before takeoff.
Heck, there doesn't seem to be consistency in how much damage it takes. I've seen Pelican take a 500kg to the dome without flinching. I think the only thing I've seen that I can be sure damaged it was a bike titan landing on it.
So, my point: Pelican-1 should either be immune to damage, or there should be a better way to indicate it's damage before you find out by a player jumping in.
Thoughts?

2024.05.19 05:17 Messy_Heart_97 AITAH for wanting my dad to cease to exist?

I (26F) when I was 4 years old my parents legally divorced and for my whole life I lived with shared custody. Until I was 16 years old my mom was my biggest enemy because she abused me verbally and physically while my dad was my best friend, going to his house was what I expected all week long because I went on weekends, we played board games, we went to the movies or to different places, he did let me have a pet, everything was a dream until I turned 16 years old. Something curious about this time is that my dad used to talk to me about how my mom cheated on him and she told me not to believe him, but since he was the enemy I didn't listen to him.
12 years ago my mom started attending a Christian church along with my whole family and I, curious, started attending with her... that's when everything took a turn. You see, my father is an extremist Catholic and from then on he started to attack me in every way possible: against my new belief, he discovered that I had Facebook and forced me to give him my password to h*rass me and read absolutely everything; he told me that if I took the entrance exam for the university I wanted, he would find out because he hired a friend to stand near the door and take photos of me if he saw me arriving, which made me scared; when I decided that I was going to be a teacher my dad exploded in fury, although I was already a legal adult he told me that I had no right to choose my career and only my mother and he could do it, he tried to force my mother to pay me to study medicine but he didn't succeed and now I am studying education; Oh and it is worth mentioning that he generated in me an irrational phobia of buses because he told me that if I got on a bus, my parents would never see me or my body again.
My father over time has tried to manipulate me more and more and I increasingly move away, he pressures me every year to marry someone rich, to get pregnant even by accident because he doesn't want to “die without knowing his grandchildren” (my father is macho), that I stay in his house when he no longer lives alone and lives with a family that I don't like, he wants me to call his partner's children "my siblings" and treat them the same as my biological siblings, that I become Catholic again so I don't go to hell, that I convince my sister to stop therapy because her bipolar "is a lie", that I don't relate to minorities or people of other races (my father is r*cist since we are not white), that I don't relate to anyone in the LGBT community (my father is “proudly homophobic”).
My father lives by appearances, he lives in an expensive house but my grandparents pay his rent, he wears pilot suits when he used to repair airplanes and he doesn't know how to fly a plane, he tells everyone that I studied “educational administration and future founder of a school” because he is ashamed that I am a teacher, he bought very big cars when he didn't even have enough to pay for gas and finally he presumes he is a good father... when he has caused me such strong psychological abuse that I'm afraid to do things because he might find out.
4 years ago I started to progressively cut communication with him to the point that I don't talk to him and I don't go to his house anymore, only once a month and it hurts me because in this dispute my paternal grandparents and my younger sister got caught in the crossfire, but my dad is so harassing that if I call them or her just to say hello, he will find out and come here to complain because I talk to them and not to him. Sometimes I think my life will be easier and I will rest the day he dies, AITAH for wanting or thinking that?

2024.05.19 04:02 Awesome_Bronana War of the Monsters Advanced Techniques

I remember the first time I played War of the Monsters on the PS2 was when my dad brought home a copy of the game and played with me and my siblings. I grew up watching monster movies and instantly loved this game. It has been 20 years since I have first played this, I decided to write this guide in advanced tricks and techniques that I have developed from my experiences playing this game. I hope you enjoy this read and that It increases your appreciation of this hidden gem.
There are many guides online that cover combos, tactics, item placements, boss guides, level guides, cheats, etc. This is not one of those. This will cover more niche and advanced techniques that you can use to enhance your capability in your gameplay.
This guide will be written with the assumption that the control scheme is set at control 'B' which you can set in the pause screen during a game. (I think most people have it set at 'A') It shouldn't effect how these techniques function but something to keep in mind.
This is a work in progress and I will edit this thread as I come across new info and insights into the game.
Glossary: Movement Special Attacks Rage Utility Map Awareness Advanced Combat
\\\\MOVEMENT////////
The monsters in the game have varying movement speeds (running, climbing), jump heights, and flying speeds. However even with the slowest monster you can work around the lack of speed with enough practice utilizing the following methods and the environment to your advantage. Little is more scary than a slow monster like Agamo zooming around your foes mwahaha!
The Dashing Mechanic<<<
As listed in the instruction manual, this allows your monster to sprint at the cost of energy by double-tapping and holding the foward button until expended or pressing the ram button.
Launching<<< You can use the ram button to launch yourself off buildings, ramps, and rock formations to get extra height quickly (a mechanic that the mini game 'Big Shot' is soley based around).
This is particularly useful in maps like baytown where theres a lot of verticality in the environment.
Super Fast Flying<<< This ram mechanic is especially useful for flying monsters like Preytor and Raptros. Executing the dash-ram in conjunction with holding 'x' right after ramming while on the edge of a building or flat surface will result in a blisteringly fast flight speed that gives you better movement and height. Preytor is super fast with this method while Raptros has better airtime and control, though the speed difference is minor. Raptros is my prefrence due to the better airtime, control, and Projectile damage.
Firing projectiles while flying<<< Raptros and Preytor both have the ability to capitalize on their aerial advantage by firing projectiles mid glide. You can accomplish this by performing the glide holding X and while holding glide tap the □ button to fire. This takes energy though so maintaining altitude is key. the most effecient way to do this is to execute the dash>ram>fly combo to get extra speed, glide up over your opponent and lock-on to them to spin like a vulture firing down on your target.
Lock-On Steering<<< You may notice that while dashing, your ability to steer your monster is stiff. This technique will allow you to navigate around all those tight corners on a dime while dashing! This is more tricky to execute because it is depenent on where your opponents are located around you. This is indicated on the HUD as these numbered circles that show the health status of your opponents.
While sprinting using the dash, hold the lock-on button to force your monster to take a tight turn in the direction of the closest target. This is great for adjusting after missing your target.
For simply turning tight corners, simply tap the lock-on button instead while the opponents icons are on the side you want to turn.
There is a brief charge up before a dash, if you time your lock on just before the dash activates, you can pull up to a sharp 180 degree turn on your opponent if you missed the first dash-ram.
There is some wiggle room in the timing to play around with and practice your navigation using this technique.
Building Hopping<<< Every monster has different climbing speeds, some are fast like Kineniclops and Preytor, some are slow such as Agamo and Togera.
Building Hopping is the simple action of jumping while climbing a building. Repeating this cycle of (jump+grab+jump+grab+jump) will do two things:
  1. It will add more speed to slower monsters climbing
  2. It will reduce your contact to the building by about 80% and greatly reduce the chance of getting knocked down when an opponent is throwing projectiles.
\\\\SPECIAL ATTACKS////////
Every monster has two special attacks at their disposal under two categories; Close range and Long range. This chapter will cover the expansive utility of both types.
Short Range Special<<< Despite the differences in the vibrant animations, all monsters share the short range special attack in common. The only difference between them as far as I can ascertain Is the the time it takes to start up the blast (Ultra V being almost instant and zorgulon Taking 1.5 seconds). The purposes most common is to give yourself space when surrounded or cornered, and to have a quick and strong offense to your opponent knocking them down. However there is more utility in this attack when you think of this as a defensive move.
Invincibility Frames<<< The short range special attack gives you about 2-3 seconds of invincibility frames meaning almost nothing can damage you aside from falling buildings. This is excellent as a defense against thrown objects, explosives, lightning, short and long range special attacks, and environmental hazards.
Long Range Special<<< Every monster has a unique long range special attack that has different effects and ranges. There is more nuance in how you can utilize these attacks, so I will cover each monsters long range special individually so you can make the most out of these attacks:
  1. Raptros' Fire Breath Raptros has a unique advantage in regards to how he uses this attack. He can activate it on the ground AND while mid-flight. Additionally, he can fire his projectiles while using his fire breath to squeeze in extra damage (There is a weird glitch where doing this turns the flame invisible, but the effect is still active). This also hinders opponents and catches them on fire.
  2. Togera's Atomic Breath Similar to 'Raptros's Fire Breath' Togera's Breath has similar range and hinders opponents. The difference is that it deals more damage. You can also fire his projectiles while using his breath for pretty nasty damage.
  3. Preytor's Flying Leeches Leechs not very damaging by itself, it is a decent threat if you can manage to chain up multiple specials around the map. (Ex. In Metro City there are multiple red orbs, 50% energy, around the buildings and streets where you can chain at least 3 leeches). There are two minor benefits from the leeches: A. It gives the opponent something else to target or focus on A.I. or human B. Can't be blocked unless intercepted by thrown object or shot projectile, or using a special attack, thus resulting in multiplying damage stacks if chained. You can also spread the leeches out by locking on different targets while sending them.
*This Special attack is really best used in situations where the opponent won't have time to stop all of the leaches (preferabally up close) followed up with your own projectiles or thrown objects or follow up advances.
  1. Congar's Sonic Roar Similar range to Raptros and Togera's Breaths, and Considerable damage and launches opponents far. It can reach through some buildings for full effect. You can also tilt congars head around to spread the roar around to get a wider spread. Opponent can block this attack or counter with a short range special.
  2. Robo-47's Atomic Missile The most immediately damaging special in the game by far. It also launches opponents far like congars roar. It is very versatile at close range and long range. You can choose to fire quickly or wait to lock on the target for a more likely hit. You can tilt his head down to shoot the ground for a damaging 'short range' blast. You can also cancel the missile by pressing the block button for later use. It cannot be blocked unless opponent uses short range special or dodges.
  3. Agamo's Head This special is unique in it can be used to farm for more energy considerably fast while weilding it, which in turn stocks you with an additional special when you are ready for the next head or short range attack. Creating an efficient cycle of banking more special attacks. It is damaging and knocks opponents down upon a confirmed hit. It also can be used as a bomb by pressing the long range special button a second time. This isnt great for throwing at enemies from a distance as an explosive, launching opponents. The head when thrown is also super bouncy and ricochets damaging buildings and knocking down opponents all the while gaining you energy.
  4. Magmo's Eruption This special launches a barrage of fireballs at an opponent and juggles them into the air with good damage followed up with some decent fall damage. This can be paired with a second erruption when chaining with a second special pickup on the map. You can tilt magmo's head up first before locking on an opponent to send the fireballs over obstacles and tyen lock on to your opponent have a better chance to reach them.
  5. Kineticlops's Lightning storm This is great for crowd control and anti-air with good range. The storm electricutes all nearby monsters in range and launches them upward. This is nice for discouraging flying enemies. You can also flick the lighting up and down for flavor just to show off but it won't do much damage.
*Its also nice using this special following a one-two combo of shocking an opponent with a power generator and throwing for a double shock.
  1. Zorgulon's UFO Swarm Arguably the weakest of the long range specials, but it is still is fun to use and can be used in creative ways. If you lock-on a target while executing this special (provided they are not behind cover) you will fire this device that hover above the target that calls in ufos to harrass the opponent. The damage is varied based on how many shots are managed by the ufos and when the device is destroyed. There is a charge on the device that when run out releases the ufos and ends the special. This can be shortened if you damage them in any way. Another use is to place them in an area of interest, such as locations with resources like health, energy, or powerups. It is more defensive and punishes opponents for going where you don't want them to go. You can also grab these ufos for a weapon to attack with, gaining more energy or even fire their lasers at the opponent. while not practical is fun.
  2. Ultra V's Grapple Cable This special does minor damage but can grab and pull an opponent across the map to you and stuns the enemy for a few seconds. This can be really nasty since it allows you options to set up a combo, launch them with a 360 kick, pull them into environmental hazards (bottomless pits, radioactive waste, powerlines, steam, tsunamis, falling buildings). It can be use up close for an easy stun or to take opponents away from reaching resources such as Health, Energy, or powerups. At long ranges it is best used at highground where line of sight is less blocked by obstacles. You can also send the grapple while holding any object for extra damage. The fan favorite method is to use explosives (gasoline truck, airplanes, fuel tanks) for an explosive combo! even if you miss with the grapple the impact of the explosive will hit the opponent if close enough. You can also use the grapple to damage buildings to knock opponents off the walls.
\\\\Rage Utility//////// Rage is an interesting mechanic that I think some people overlook as not that useful. It Is available once you collect enough energy that you energy bar flashes, and makes it so your following actions are more effiecient than standard usage. Instead of your energy being used up quickly it is unlimited until the rage runs out. I have not tested if Rage increases your damage output. I have focused this as more a tool for various tactics I came up with.
sprinting with rage<<< using the dash usually expends energy really fast. however with Rage, you can extend the time you can continue you sprint significantly. you can Also dash-ram infinitely until expended, which is scary when used in conjunction with the lock-on steering technique.
Firing projectiles with rage<<< Every monster has projectiles that have unique behaviors, have varying damage and cost. Every monster in general benefits from using rage to shoot more projectiles, the difference is in how you position yourself to shoot them effectively.
Flying monsters can use this to fire even more projectiles while in mid-flight without worrying about losing stamina, the unlimited energy also gives room to reposition the monster if more altitude is needed the damage is also decent from both of them.
Robots like Robo-47 and Ultra V have similar projectiles that pepper small damage but are very rapid. The faster you mash the □ button, the faster the firing rate. when using rage you can catch opponents with little cover and barrage them with a volley of lasers/bullets.
Kineniclops's projectile is unique that it is the slowest but has the most heat seeking property. You can shoot a lot with little cost and it deals decent damage especially if you can land multiple hits with them. with rage you can create an army of these lightning balls at some highground or running and jumping approaching them from different angles makes it hard for them to avoid the stacks in damage.
\\\\Map Awareness//////// This section will cover Map awareness and how to take advantage of the abundant resources in your game. knowing the layout of the map as well as intimately knowing the placement and respawn time of your resources will aid you so much in how you decide to approach the following setups we are about to cover here.
Resources<<< Resources are defined as anything on the map you can pick up that aids you (Health, Energy, Powerups, Items). The location of Health, Energy, and powerups on each map is static, though consistent and respawn after a period of time. Items However can both be static (pieces of a building, rocks, water towers) and dynamic (moving items like cars, helicopters, trains).
chaining resources<<< This is a series of actions that utilizes multiple resources for a desired outcome. (ex. gaining health/energy/damage).
For example, chaining a power transformer lightning bolt+throwing the transformer+radio tower spear impale+gasoline truck = a chain resulting in big damage to your opponent there are many combinations you can chain together with items its devistating when you know exactly when and where an item will be so you can in rapid succession throw items to juggle them from a distance.
chaining specials<<< For example, it is possible to set oneself up to use at least three specials in succesion easily in a map such as atomic island where the reactor in the center can recharge your special rapidly. Think of the possibilities with this alone, thats 3 to 4 flying leechs from preytor at once, 3-4 nuke missiles from robo- 47 and so on. Other maps have instances where if you have a special in stock you can position yourself next to another red orb or 50-100% energy and use a special of your choice and follow it up with an additional special that you subsequentally grab.
\\\\Advanced Combat//////// There are guides out there that cover the specific combos you can pull in sequence and I have a few quick tips to increase your combos, and increase your lethality.
Combo canceling<<< Each monster has varying speeds in execution and amount of hits they cam perform before they end with a launching strike. What I suggest when pursuing higher combos is to simply tap the block button before the launch. Speed is key here so results may vary. such as congar who is more combo focused with fast punches. You can unleash a lot of hits and tap the block button, the follow up with more hits. there is a chance that the opponent will have time to block so it takes practice.

2024.05.19 02:52 TheDragonSaver I just finished playing all 4 games, here are some thoughts

As a kid I remember watching my cousin play through Sly 1 at his house, but never having the opportunity to play the games myself (we were a Nintendo house until we got a PS4). These past few weeks though I was able to finally play all four games through PS5 emulations (brave, I know. Dealt with a lot of streaming hiccups but I powered through!) and I just wanted to give my thoughts on each game as a new-ish fan of the series.
SLY 1

So overall, if I had to rank the games from best to worst, I think I'd put them as:
Sly 2, Sly 4, Sly 1, Sly 3
I've heard it's a "hot take" to enjoy Sly 4, but I honestly had a lot of fun with the game as much as Sly 2. The real TL;DR of this is that I'm now officially a fan of the Sly Cooper series, and Sony seriously needs to give us a new game already!

2024.05.18 23:09 joemab123 Does New Flight Plan have all the previous scenarios?

I was looking at picking up an expansion and saw new flight plan. I like the idea of adding airplanes but I've only got the base game. It mentions revised scenarios. Does the pack come with all the previous scenarios from the base game and the expansions but revised for airplanes or does it just have a select few from each pack?

2024.05.18 20:40 WonderfulPair5770 What am I doing wrong?

I'm on level 35! I learned from this sub that my first mistake was buying a bunch of community buildings. I never get glass, so I've just been sitting with six unfinished projects. The trains are now coming every 4 to 5 hours, and they never have what I need. I'm starting to get airplanes that are asking for goods that I don't even have the factories built for. For instance, last night it wanted 12 plastic bottles, and it gave me 14 hours to fill the order, but my plastic factory had 27 hours left. I was able to reduce the time on one train, but now I can't get gold to upgrade the others.
Here's my second problem: My barn is always full. My fields are always full of things ready to harvest. Half of my factories are sitting quiet because I have too much of whatever they produce. However, my trains, helicopters, and planes always want something I don't have. So while my barn and fields sit full, I'm having to buy what I need from the marketplace hoping to get glass or paint to upgrade my barn.
Is this just the nature of the game? Is this just them trying to get me to pay money for T-Bucks? About once or twice a week I'll buy the piggy bank, but there's no way I'm spending $10 to finish imaginary buildings, lol.
This game is a lot of fun, but it's suddenly become dramatically less fun.

2024.05.18 18:14 Any-Variation2234 When NPCs take matters into their own hands

I've been kicking around an idea-a bit of a takeoff of "Strahd Must Die Tonight" or a CoS speedrun where the players take NPCs from the game- so after the most recent party of adventurers have failed to kill Strahd and free Barovia, the NPCs rally and go face him themselves.
It's in a very formative stage as it's something I'd want to run for players who had been in the campaign before. Planning to talk to my DM about it at some point to see what he thinks as well as some people from my own table.
How have/would you tackle this? Which NPCs would you make available (thinking party of 4-6)? And what classes? Thinking preparing more sheets than would actually be needed to allow players more choices for the party.

2024.05.18 16:02 BorsukBartek Upgrading from LG G7 - Pixel 8P? Samsung S23? Something else?

TL;DR: Feel free to just read the first words off my points
Hi! Though I'm a young tech-oriented person I hate switching phones and avoid doing, so I'm hoping to make a good choice with your help. I wish I could provide a list of little features that I love about my G7, but those are the types of things you don't know aren't standard until you've switched already, so I'll provide general information about what I care and don't care in a phone
What I use my phone for(approximately in that order):- Communication (messenger, telegram etc.)- Watching stuff, mostly Youtube (contemplating P8P for a bigger screen, don't know how much of an inconvenience it'd be)- Doom scrolling and such- Making notes and using Google cloud (Google Drive), using an app called Notion, making notes in google docs, uploading files to the cloud- Taking photos (it is last because I do that fairly rarely, I imagine that I'd be satisfied with any modern phone's photo quality, I do not care for 0.001 megapixel more)
Features I can think of that I like:- Double tap the screen to turn phone on and off- "Always on display" showing time, day, date, % battery and 3 last notification icons with priority for messaging apps like Messenger. I'd be extremely annoyed if one of those was missing. Note: I didn't have to set the priority of notifications up in any way- HEADPHONE JACK ( think I lost that battle unless I'm going Motorola or Sony)- I don't really know, but it seems to me that LG G7 is a "pretty pure" android experience? I don't see bloatware, my mom's Samsung has a special page on the main screen (leftmost page) for news and whatever (ads?) - one of the things my G7 doesn't have and I'm very happy to not have to suffer from such bloat- Long-term battery life. I don't need the phone to be able to play Youtube for 8 hours straight. But it'd be nice if in 3 years it could last while using Google Maps/MessengeGoogle for significantly more than 3 hours outside- not a feature, but I survived on 64GB internal memory + 32GB SD card. So I don't think my memory size requirements are particularly brutal- App permission blocking unless the user explicitly allowed access (to memory, camera, microphone etc.). It may be a standard, but I don't know that and better safe than sorry- (this is not really a feature I just don't know where to put this) LG G7 only has one app I think may be coming from LG itself, it's called QuickMemo+ - an app for making notes. I heard that Samsung has a lot of their versions of basic apps, I just wanted to point out that I've never used them so I don't have a preference as to whether I want them or not, as I don't know what they are capable of. It is plausible that I'd never want to "not have" them if I tried them, but the opposite is also true. Schrödinger's feature preference
Features that I know I don't like:- Impossible to disable, forced camera auto correction(s). LG G7's camera adjusts colors and makes shit look weird. Ex: In a room with full red RGB it'll balance the colors to look like there's merely a slight tint of red. NOTE: This is not post-processing, the phone does it real time, if I don't give it time to adjust the photo will come out severely red. I would LOVE an option to take "raw" photos, I have not found that on the G7- "Hello google". I have it disabled on my phone
What I don't do on the phone:- gaming- serious photo taking: Most threads I've seen discussing phones spend 10-20% time on photos. I personally don't care much at all, it'd be nice if the phone didn't have the forced processing like I described above, but if all else is great then I'll bite the bullet
Features I don't currently care for:- AI, most people talking about Pixel mention "AI features" which sounds like something I don't want to use by default, though I don't know what actually comes with those features- 120hz screen. I'd probably disable it for long-term battery life anyway (i.e. not having to charge the phone as often = hopefully better battery life after years)- anything HDR-related, never used HDR, don't know what it's for- Syncing with a Windows PC to share a clipboard and such- Honestly probably most features, the things I described I actually do on my phone are pretty basic, I can do them on my LG G7. I don't need my phone to be able to change into an airplane, detect all enemies in 50m radious or call a Google Airstrike that I can aim with my eyes
Pricing in my country for phones I have considered thus far:NOTE: I did not do some very extensive research. Honestly I just want to get something I'll be happy with and not have to think about comparing phones for the next x yearsPixel 8a 8/128GB: $624.66Pixel 8 8/128GB: $688.69Pixel 8 Pro 12/128GB: $943.76-$994.77
Samsung s23 FE 8/128GB: $739.70 (availability and pricing is a bit all over the place so +/-15%)Samsung s23 8/128GB: $917.99Samsung s23 ultra 8/256GB: $1078.94 or $1402.62. Idk, one major retailer I know offers it for 4231PLN and the other one for 5500PLN, no idea what that's about
I haven't looked at OnePlus thus far, like I said I find it really overwhelming to research phones, especially because my requirements invalidate most advertised features as I'm focused on small QoL things and UI design
Anyone relates to my "use case" and could make recommendations? I want to point out that just because I looked into Samsung and Google doesn't dismiss all other brands entirely

2024.05.18 08:38 International-Try467 The Redmi Note 11 Pro sucks

This is kinda a rant
Anyways Hi, I'm incredibly mad at this phone, it's camera is terrible especially if you use it outdoors during daytime, they screwed up the mic so bad that I have to use an app just to have a recording that doesn't have the terrible noise cancellation built in. (For those who don't know how, I use an app called Microphone playback and set the recording device to bottom and use RAW mode.)
Even for an 8 GB phone it's performance is terrible in games. Midway through it overheats and your performance drops until you don't even know what's going on anymore. I'd argue that this is the processor's issue (g96 sucks terrible even with emulation)
Even without games it can still get hot if I'm just browsing through, even with 60hz
I've done everything to try and fix this (other than flashing a custom ROM into it.), I've debloated everything and turned off RAM extension (makes your phone slower anyways) and to my avail it's performance is still terrible.
Not only that but occasionally it will just refuse to open, it doesn't shut down randomly, the OS just freezes and you're left with a blank black screen until you hold the power button and the power off/restart/airplane mode comes on, and even then the OS isn't even responsive.
I don't know how this last part even happens, occasionally the phone will just stop working altogether until multiple App not responding prompts show up.
It ranges from Android system web view, Google play store services, MIUI security, homeview system launcher etcetera.
