Hill-Climbing Safety
How to Handle Steep Hills on Your E-trike
Maybe you’re like me and live in an area filled with hills. Or perhaps you live in the flatlands with almost no hills, such as the coastal plains of Florida. Probably most e-trike riders encounter a mixture of terrain, including a few hills. This is just one of the things I love about Mooncool e-trikes…hills are not a problem.
Fortunately for Mooncool owners, there is plenty of power for hill climbing. The super-strong hub motor peaks at 750 watts. Indeed, the Mooncool Folding TK1 has absolutely amazing power for a 750 peak watt e-trike. I ride mine regularly, and believe me, it feels more like a 1200 peak watt motor that delivers 90+ Nm of torque. That’s the equivalent of torque coming from an 800cc motorcycle, and more than adequate for any e-trike!
Know Your Options
Hills with a slight incline will never be a problem. The same is true for moderate inclines, even in the lowest PAS setting. But if you encounter an extremely steep hill, perhaps with an 8% to 14% grade, it can be a workout. You might need to select PAS 4 or 5 for the steepest hills. I have pedaled up hills with an 15% grade riding the Mooncool Folding TK1 and it has always been up to the challenge.
You have some choices in how to climb hills with your e-trike. Be aware of the options so that you are ready to choose the approach that is best for you at the particular time you are riding. Always be aware of traffic and weather.
The No-Sweat Method
If you are commuting on your way to work, or perhaps just out for a leisurely ride before dinner, you may prefer to avoid sweating. In most cases, you can do that with no problems. However, for a truly long and steep hill, you might have to sweat just a little.
The long and steep hill seen at a distance in the photo below was a no-sweat hill on the Mooncool Folding TK1. However, in hot weather that would not be the case!
Mooncool Folding TK1 E-trike
For a slight uphill climb, throttle-only is a great no-sweat approach. Just before you reach the hill, shift into first gear if your trike has multiple gears. Your Mooncool has more than enough power to zip up that hill, even with a heavy load. For a moderate hill, first gear and throttle-only is also an option. If it is a really long uphill climb, it is best to do some light pedaling to save wear and tear on your motor. Select a pedal assist level appropriate for climbing the hill with minimal effort and no sweating.
If you are climbing a short steep incline, you can likely get to the top in first gear and using only the throttle–no sweat. For those who ride for exercise, keep on pedaling and adjust the PAS as needed. If it is a long and steep hill, I recommend adding some pedal power so as to not overwork your motor. Stay in first gear and select your highest pedal assist level and pedal your way to the top.
If you have the Mooncool Folding TK1, you never change gears and I have never found a hill that it cannot climb.
The Small-Sweat Method
Let’s assume you are wanting a little moderate exercise, and so moderate sweating is not a problem. This calls for a different approach.
If you are coming up on a slight uphill climb, select your lowest pedal assist level. This will get you to the top easily, regardless of the length of the incline. Sweating should be only moderate, perhaps even none, unless outdoor temperatures are exceptionally high.
For moderate uphill runs, try a pedal assist level near PAS 3 for perfect assistance. Again, if your trike has gears, be sure you are in first gear as you approach the hill. If you discover that the hill is not as steep as it looks, you can always shift to a higher gear for a little more exercise. For the Mooncool Folding TK1, simply adjust your level of exercise effort with the PAS.
When you find yourself approaching a very steep hill, prepare for first gear and your maximum pedal assist level. If it is a long incline, even with full pedal assistance, some genuine effort is required to reach the top.
The Sweaty Exercise Method
The majority of my rides are for exercise purposes. By intentional design, I choose routes that are challenging, and I expect to sweat profusely.
For the ultimate exercise, you can opt to ride without pedal assistance, but only on level ground and slight, short inclines. Anything more and it is prudent to use at least PAS 1. On moderate uphill inclines, select first gear before you reach the hill and try your lowest pedal assist level. For most hills this is quite doable, but takes some work. Change gears or pedal assist level as needed.
As you come to a really steep hill, you know it will require intense effort in your pedaling. Again, before you reach the hill, shift into first gear and maximum pedal assist level. This is important–-do not wait until you are already climbing the hill. When already on a steep hill it is often difficult to properly engage a higher PAS level or a lower gear. Maintain your best effort in pedaling until you reach the top. If possible, do not back off on your exertion.
If You Make a Mistake
Of course, it is possible to misjudge the incline of a hill. If in doubt, just turn around before you are on the hill and take an alternative route. But what if you are already on the hill before you find that you’re not going to reach the top?
If you see that you cannot maintain enough speed for comfort and confidence...it’s time to get off. For me, this is 4 mph — it could be different for you. Experiment to find your minimum speed. It is always preferable to take action BEFORE the steep incline brings your trike to a stop.
If you have to dismount your e-trike on a steep hill, don’t wait until your safety is questionable. If possible, turn your trike a little and come to a stop. If you are still on the trike, complete the turn around with small advances using your throttle. If possible, just dismount your trike and push it to a position where you can remount. Remember, you are on a hill and your trike wants to roll! Keep one hand on a brake lever at all times. If needed, walk your trike back to the bottom of the hill, or push it to the top of the hill.
Safety First
Whenever you ride, and I do mean every time you ride, safety should be your first priority. This includes knowing how to handle your e-trike on hills. Of course, always wear a bike helmet. If you ride at night, be sure you have proper lighting for visibility.
Enjoy your Mooncool, and if you don’t have one yet, now is a great time…check out the very nice discounts and use the coupon code CRAIG100 for a bonus $100 discount.

2024.04.28 22:26 aomdev A new exciting NFT Game

Hello folks,
Are you on the hunt for a fantastic new project driven by an experienced team?
Background story:
This idea began 18 years ago when I met my partner playing Lineage 2 (for those unfamiliar, it's a grindy Korean MMO created in 2004). We've been gaming together for years, always dreaming of creating our own video game. In 2021, we started exploring the crypto world and delved into its workings. I am a software engineer and game dev with 15 years of professional experience, while he comes from a different engineering field. With time, we decided to embark on this adventure and bring our unique concept to life. To do that, we added another friend who is also an engineer and is learning coding. However, an essential piece was missing - an artist. Since then, we've been working tirelessly, from Monday to Monday, to bring our vision to fruition.

The game:
Let me introduce you to Muki Mooki World. Driven by nostalgia for old games, we've decided to resurrect a favorite, the classic Tamagotchi. For those too young to recall, Tamagotchi was the first virtual pet. The concept was simple: nurture, care for, clean, and play with a virtual pet to help it grow. Technology has made incredible strides in the last 25 years, so now we aim to revive that experience, combining it with web3 and blockchain. In Muki Mooki World, you'll receive an egg, which happens to be an NFT. Your task is to care for it until it grows into a super cool creature (any Pokémon fans here?). Once your Muki hatches, you'll need to feed it, train it, keep it clean and happy. The same Muki will feature mini-games and daily missions, allowing you to play with it in super fun mini-games and earn Tokens. We're also working on implementing mini-lands and a PvP world where players can traverse a shared map and challenge each other.

Why Muki Mooki?
With countless games out there, quality and player engagement are paramount to us. As a game developer myself, I'm obsessed with creating an experience for both gaming enthusiasts and long-term investors. We've outlined our roadmap, and we'll allow players to buy Mukies and rent them to others, enabling players to enjoy the game for free while sharing profits with the Muki owners. Everyone has a place here; you can play for free while sharing your profits and caring for the Muki or go solo and be both the boss and the player.

But Mr. Muki Dev, games tend to be inflationary. How do you plan to keep the coin strong?
You're correct; we'll have an inflationary token for purchasing Muki supplies in the shop. Additionally, we'll introduce a governance token that will be harder to obtain. Mukies range in uniqueness, with "D" being the most common and "S" being the rarest. The better the Muki, the better the chances of receiving special prizes, including the governance token. Our documentation is detailed and meticulously designed to ensure the token thrives. We've gathered the best ideas out there, adding our special Muki sauce to make it even stronger. We've built upon what's correct and improved what could be enhanced from established web3 games.

This sounds exciting. Where can I learn more?
I strongly recommend checking out our website: https://www.mukimooki.io/. There, you can find our Discord community, and you can peruse our documentation, which explains the game lore, tokenomics, and long-term plan.

Hope to see you folks there. We'll have giveaways, airdrops, and events as we approach the launch.
Thank you for your time and see you in Muki Mooki World!

2024.04.28 22:21 TiMomentme FireRed cheat codes?

Apologies as I know there’s been several posts on this subject. I can’t, for the life of me, get any cheats to work for Pokémon FireRed. I’ve tried action replay, GameShark and code breaker cheats, different master codes, etc. In particular, I’m looking for a wild encounter modifier cheat that works to get specific pokemon encounters. Thanks in advance!

The top part can rotate in one direction independently from the bottom. I like to disassemble this in order to clean it.
Any thoughts on how to do this?

2024.04.28 22:15 AppropriateLeather63 A modern review of Fallout 76

I am one of those new players who watched the TV show and bought the game on sale for 8 bucks around when it released. I've been playing after work for a few weeks now. Here is my review.
I like Fallout, having beat Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas as a kid, and having played Fallout 4 but never beat it. I'm also a hardcore FF14 player, so I'm highly familiar with traditional MMOs. I had heard bad things about the game when it came out, but loved the TV show so much that I wanted to hop back into the universe, and this was the only game I've ever played.
What I was hoping for from the game was just to capture that Fallout feeling. To explore the world and the lore the TV show had reinspired a love for, maybe some nostalgia from the older games.
My first experience with the game was Vault 76. This was a big let down. You are the only human in Vault 76, player or NPC. The explanation is that you woke up from last night's party late. You are immediately given some supplies and rushed out of the Vault by Mr. Handy robots. There is no real story or lore to this vault, no sinister Vault-Tec experiment to uncover, and there is no way to return to the vault as far as I know.
The Vault intros to the story are some of the most nostalgic memories from the older Fallout games. Growing up in the Vault in Fallout 3 or being rushed into it in Fallout 4. Coming back to your home Vault and either saving or dooming it was also one of the better side quests in three.
I was disappointed in this introduction to the game, and almost turned it off. But I'm glad I didn't.
I was given the choice here between starting at level 20 or level 1. I chose to start at level 20, because the game recommended it and I wasn't sure if I liked the game, so I primarily wanted to rush to see the Atlantic City content that had just come out. I was given two guns, a bunch of good supplies, and some perks. I didn't feel overpowered, but I did feel like I could hold my own in a fight. It felt like the right choice at the time, but later on, once I found myself liking the game and realized that many other players had chosen to start at level 1, I kind of wish I had chosen level 1 too. It would have made the meat of the game last longer, and better captured that feeling of struggling to survive in the Wasteland once you first leave the vault.
Upon exiting the Vault, you find yourself in a thriving forest. Kind of weird. I was expecting to exit into a dying wasteland, terrified of the hostile nature of the outside world compared to the vault. Apparently this game takes place 25 years after the bombs fall, which doesn't make a lot of sense lore-wise. How is the starting area so alive and normal 25 years after the nuclear apocalypse? It also doesn't make a lot of sense because the game basically acts like it takes place 200 years after the bombs fall later on, with everyone acting as if this is the only world anyone has ever known. Besides the starting forest, the rest of the world is pretty sufficiently devastated.
The next thing I noticed was a big positive. The combat is very, very good and very, very faithful to the older Fallout games. This was marketed as an MMO, so I was expecting MMO combat, where I would be shepherded into a tank, healer, or DPS role and cycle through a rotation of actions or spells with a GCD while I dodged mechanics. Instead, I was met with a faithful recreation of good old fashioned First Person Shooter Fallout combat. There was a wide assortment of awesome ballistic, energy, melee, and throwable weapons to scavenge. Enemies sometimes turned into ash sometimes when I used a laser weapon, or goo when I used a laser weapon. There was even a somewhat faithful recreation of VATS, which I wouldn't have thought possible in an MMO. It only slows time a little bit, but it's otherwise pretty much exactly the same. You can even get the Mysterious Stranger perk, and he feels just as powerful as he did in the mainline games. I was fighting all of the classic enemies from the Fallout universe. I found the combat to be very nostalgic and very fun. This is what kept me from turning the game off.
I began to realize that this game is much more similar to "Borderlands" than it is to "World of Warcraft" or even "Elder Scrolls Online".
I decided to sprint straight to the Whitesprings so I could get to Atlantic City and experience the newest content. Upon getting there, I was met with a series of daily quests before I could do the expeditions. These were super lame, like cooking soup or collecting steel. Typical MMO filler fair. Very disappointing. This is the second time (but the last time) I almost turned off the game. It got better from here.
The expeditions were pretty fun. This is the closest thing to a traditional MMO instanced "dungeon" that Fallout 76 has. You'll fight hordes of enemies related to the new area you're exploring, complete objectives, and get handsomely rewarded with legendary equipment, power armor pieces, and currencies. It feels like a Fallout themed action movie, which is where Fallout 76 is at its best. There will be a boss at the end. It's extremely hard to find a group for these. There is no real matchmaking system. You have to create a party and hope someone on your server decides to join. This can sometimes take hours, but you do get to go do other stuff while you wait. I have never had more than 2 people join for one of these. When they do join, they're probably going to be hundreds of levels higher than you, instead of someone your level. I'm not sure these have as much replay value as they are supposed to. Overall though, my first experience with each of the 3 expeditions I've done so far was a good time and had good rewards.
Next I tried the Atlantic City main story line. My verdict is that it's about what you'd expect from a mainline Fallout DLC. I won't spoil it, but the characters and plot are well-written and interesting. It's pretty short. The new areas and enemies are fun, I especially liked fighting against and helping the mafia, like some sort of post-apocalyptic The Sopranos.
It was ridiculously buggy, even compared to the Appalachia Fallout 76 experience, which was already buggy enough. During the last quest, my ally bugged into the wall on the way to the boss and I had to restart the game multiple times to get him out. The boss, the Jersey Devil, was cool. He was hard at my low level. He killed me the first time I tried to fight him, and again when I came back with power armor. But when I wanted to come back to try a third time, this time with power armor and a legendary gattling plasma, I found that the boss had simply already died to a bug. Anti-climatic. This game also lacks difficulty, which I'll get into more later, so it was really disappointing to see the one hard boss I've found die to a bug. The rewards for the questline were pretty meh, I got a bunch more caps than I got in normal quests, but no cool gear. But, I mean, it's Bethesda. Their games are always buggy. It was an experience that felt pretty typical of a mainline Fallout DLC. Well-written, short, buggy. Not as good as the main game, but fun.
Next I did the Wastelanders questline. This is the best Fallout 76 has to offer, at least out of what I've seen so far. It's also the closest thing Fallout 76 has to a "Main Story Questline". This is pretty much exactly what I wanted from this game. Apparently, the game lacked human NPCs before this was added, but there are tons of them in here. This is a Fallout Theme Park Action Movie. There are Vault-Tec secrets, communist bunkers, armies of evil corporate robots, cool Ghoul characters, tons of hidden lore to discover, you name it. There are moral choices to make, sides to take, stat checks during dialogue, nostalgia, epic action sequences, and handsome rewards. I went into this questline low on supplies and came out of it with epic legendary energy weapons. This questline exceeded all of my expectations, especially after the bad stuff I heard about this game. It's a ton of fun, and captures that mainline Fallout story experience I was hoping for. This alone was worth the 8 bucks I spent.
The game economy was weird. There is no global trade system or market, as is typical of MMOs. Instead, you basically have to explore the camps of other players to see what they are selling, and there are only 25 players max on a server at a time, and usually around 10. But ultimately, I think this decision kind of serves the game well. This is a post-apocalypse game, so a global economy would break the immersion. It also leads to some fun situations, where no one is selling the stuff you need so you have to pay triple the fair price or whatever. Like the time I had power armor but no fusion cores. I had spent hours trying to find them. I ran into a player on the road, asked to trade, and requested his fusion cores. He had 7, and I was hoping he'd sell me 1 for like 100 caps, but instead he sold me all 7 for 25 caps a piece. The next time I needed a fusion core, though, I couldn't find any available and ended up having to pay like 250 caps for one, which was still worth it to me because the power armor is so strong. Honestly, it captures the feel of a post-apocalyptic barter economy pretty well. It's hard to sell stuff if you aren't an established player would be the draw back. I have some rare serums for sale, but I don't have a cool CAMP or hundreds of legendary weapons for sale, so no one ever comes to my CAMP to buy them.
The CAMPS are better than I expected them to be. The player base builds some incredible stuff. I once found a CAMP with like a million water purifiers outside and a ridiculous amount of items for sale at cheap prices. This guy had a literal line forming outside his CAMP for the vendor, with a bunch of other players there for the water. Over half the server was probably there. I ended up placing my CAMP on the cliffs on the outside of The Rose Room, a defensible location with a useful location nearby. At first I didn't think I'd be into building my CAMP at all, and just planned to put down my vending machine, my stash box, and my ally. But then my ally got attacked by a group of raiders with laser weapons by surprise attacking my cliff from below. I'm unsure if this was a random event, or if I just happened to put my CAMP close to where they spawn. Regardless, I spent 20 minutes fighting them off with my ally. Feeling bad for the poor chap, who had agreed to come live with me and then found nothing but the aforementioned vendor and stash box, I decided to build some defenses and some beds. I built four turrets on the cliffsides, some fences, and some beds. It was fun. I'm not sure I'll ever be really into building the coolest CAMP, but the game got me to spend more time on it than I thought I would.
You'll pretty much never encounter other players, unless you seek them out by doing events and expeditions or go to their CAMP or join their party. Finding a player in the wastes feels like a random encounter. For the most part, this game plays like a single player fallout game, with optional multiplayer content included. I even played with the Lone Wanderer perk, which makes me stronger for playing alone. Again, more Borderlands than World of Warcraft. Heck, even Borderlands was more multiplayer than this.
There is virtually no end-game, as far as I can tell. A game like WOW or FF14 has pretty much endless stuff to do in the end game, as well as epic raid bosses that only .001% of the playerbase will ever beat. This game has none of that. It has dailies, events, expeditions, building your CAMP, and collecting even better armor and weapons. That's pretty much it. Maybe you might get into PVP, but it's a sideshow, the game isn't designed for it. You don't really need better weapons or armor, because the game is easy. Dailies, events, and expeditions are the most boring content that traditional MMOs have to offer. Once you've finished the meat of the game, you'll probably turn it off for good. It will probably be a while before this happens for me, though, because there are quite a lot of story quests, locations to explore, and lore to discover. But once you're out of stuff to do, it looks like you're pretty much out of stuff to do. Even the original borderlands had a raid boss: Crawmerax the Invincible. This game could have benefited from stuff like that. Imagine a Super Mutan Behemoth as a raid boss. Missed opportunity.
The game is ridiculously easy, one of the easiest I've ever played. For context, I've died a grand total of 5 times at level 46. I died once sprinting to the Whitesprings by the hoard of enemies following me that killed me right at the door, which was cool. I died once by getting jumped by a group of Super Mutants on the road to my quest, also cool. I died once to my first Assaultron because I was low on supplies. And I died twice to the Jersey Devil. If I had been careful in the early game and prepared for the Jersey Devil fight, I easily could have died zero times by now. Once you get power armor, energy weapons, a stack of Stimpacks and some chems, you're pretty much unstoppable. Nothing the game has to offer is going to touch you. Aside from the power armor, none of this stuff is that hard to get. By level 35, I felt like a god. This has its perks and drawbacks. It can be very relaxing to mow down hordes of enemies while you play the classical music radio station. It's fun to feel like a post apocalyptic god of war. It makes exploring the story and the lore easier, which is what this game is clearly meant for. But if you're looking for a challenge, there is none to be had here. This is like playing Fallout 3 on Very Easy mode.
Overall: 8/10.
This is a Fallout theme park action movie. If you're looking to scratch that Fallout itch after the TV show, this is the game for you. It's a lot better than it was before it was released. It has some flaws, but if you want to play Fallout, this will do the trick, especially at the price point. It's not much of an MMO, think Borderlands. And it's not very difficult. If you're looking for an MMO or a competitive scene or something, this is not the game for you.

2024.04.28 22:10 Xepato Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a Fun Game, but it is not a Good Game

I think that DD2 features very fun party-based action adventure gameplay, but a lot of features and systems simply are not well thought out. Here’s some of my list of things I found lacking and how I’d improve them. I’m going to try to keep it short because there’s a lot to go through.
  1. Combat and skill progression tends to lean towards being a power fantasy. This is fun until it gets repetitive, kind of like using cheat codes. Now I’m not asking for a souls-like, I just think that there should be universal defensive options (ie. Each vocation gets their own kind of block/dodge). Most enemies right now either chain stagger you to death or they attack too slowly to actually threaten you.
  2. Skill progression sometimes does not make sense. For example, my favorite class to learn (not to play): Mystic Spearhand. The clear idea behind this class is to be able to nonstop attack while mixing in defensive skills to keep up the assault. However, you do not get a defensive skill until level 3. Your default skill, your time-slow bolt, is not actually a defensive ability, it’s an offensive ability.
  3. Some skills allow you to be stronger at the cost of interacting with the game less, making the game less fun. Thief’s Maister skill (auto dodge) is one example, and Spearhand’s shield (permanent invincibility) is another. I can tell you right now that even if enemies one shot you, it wouldn’t matter so long as these skills exist in their current state. I suppose the player solution is simply “don’t use the skill,” but that kinda ruins the sense of progression via exploration, doesn’t it?
  4. Uncapped leveling hurts not just the combat, but the pawn system. At high levels your equipment really does not change how easy the game is by much. It also makes the social aspect of the pawn system worse by limiting the pawns you see to recruit by default, and by making it not really justifiable for low level players to recruit high level pawns.
  5. Stat-based progression in equipment hurts the pawn system, since it incentives people using good weapons/armor on their pawns, leading to most pawns looking the same. I don’t mind some level of stat progression, but I think there should be far more sidegrades as opposed to straight upgrades. More weapons and armors would help.
  6. SorcereMage sucks to play, not because of their effects, but because casting feels awful. Casting spells is quite frankly like watching paint dry, except you do get a cool result in the end. Quickcast should be available level 1 and should feature a minigame instead of “you get to wait less.” At the very least, Mage is concerned about keeping the party alive, but this uninteractiveness hurts Sorcerer a lot more because they are more selfish.
  7. The idea to beating certain enemies (ie. Slime) being “you either have the right skill or you don’t” punishes the player by taking fun away: the player literally stands there doing nothing and they pray that their party does something. I think that if a player does not have the right skill, they should be forced to interact with more skill checks, making the combat more dangerous but still doable, as opposed to “well you can’t do anything except watch.”
  8. Escort quests are awful since NPCs do not run as quickly as your party for some reason, and if the idea of escort is “oh you have to walk slowly to make sure your target isn’t getting hurt!” then that’s frankly uninteractive gameplay and is completely unfun. It also forces you to not explore much if you want to succeed, which hurts the sense of the open world.
  9. I don’t mind if the story is mid, but plot points are often not explained and important characters fall off the face of the planet as soon as you finish their quests relating to the Arisen. We are supposed to get invested in this political plot to expose the fake Sovran only for the game to say “well I don’t care about how invested you are, you will never hear what happens next, just go to Battahl.” Story that happens in the background for the rest of the game is not story, it’s just lore-in-action. Souls-like storytelling also just does not fit this game.
Now on a lighter note, I think that having a class you can fall asleep playing as while winning anyways is funny. I have played both Mystic Spearhand and Trickster half asleep with both eyes fully closed during entire fights. Although, while Spearhand is simply overpowered, Trickster’s gameplay consists of spamming AOE incense and checking to see if your clone is alive; like so, so many things in the game, Trickster would benefit from more interactivity.
This concludes my ramble. There’s more to say but basically, I think it’s unfair to compare the flaws in this game to stuff like Elden Ring, because the core gameplay of Elden Ring is still fully functional, well thought out, and importantly, it flows well. DD2 simply suffers from many non-negligible flaws impacting its core game design.

2024.04.28 22:10 wholeloadaquestions How do you use your Obsidian Vault?

Following on from this other post earlier today What are your main reasons for using Obsidian
I'm wondering how are most people using their vault?
I work in digital transformation (reviewing business's old paper or rudimentary digital processes and then designing new digital models).
I've been using Obsidian for a number of months now and have found it's really boosted my productivity. I used to be quite scattered, primarily relying on my own memory and random paper notes.
However, I've started documenting everything in Obsidian and just feel so much more on top of things than I used to.
How I use it though? Really just notes, daily notes and tasks. I have a nice daily note template that shows my overdue, due today, and due within 10 days tasks in a nice collapsible colour coded callout.
I have some folders:
• Resources (for PDFs),
• People,
• Conferences/Events,
• Daily Notes (folder where they're all saved)
• Meetings (I have a meeting template note where I record minutes of all meetings I attend)
The rest of my notes then are folderless. I create a new note for every idea, or topic, or substantial task that crops up.
I don't use tags, except for classifying the status of a task (#backlog etc)
I am quick to create [[links]] within notes and link them from one to another with this. And this is how I tie things together, I suppose I am still relying on my own brain for these links?
But I wonder now, a few months in, with more notes than I can count, will this approach soon become unwieldy? I am slightly reluctant to start using tags because I don't want to have too many that they are hard to remember, or too little that they are too general. And finding a balance may require too much time tweaking my notes to make them fit.
I use canvas for quick flow charts that I want to sketch and share with colleagues. I have my own Kanban board setup through Cardboard. I use Omnivore for online articles I want to pull in and annotate.
Overall, I think I like writing notes and getting the nice satisfaction that I've actually written things down rather than just trying to remember everything. It makes it easier to switch off after work. It also makes me excited to get back to my Vault each morning - an Obsidian nerd!

2024.04.28 22:08 resjudicata2 Has Christopher Nolan considered working with another Nobel Prize Winner for Physics like Roger Penrose or Peter Higgs like he did with Kip Thorne in Interstellar?

Personally, I would prefer Roger Penrose who won in 2020, but working with Peter Higgs who won in 2013 could be amazing as well! I honestly think Christopher Nolan needs to work with another Nobel Prize winner for physics and when you see what he did with Interstellar, I think it's obvious to see why.
Interstellar was made by Christopher Nolan and Kip Thorne, who are both fucking geniuses in their respective crafts. Nolan is one of the greatest Directors in film of our time, and Kip Thorne literally won a Nobel Prize in Physics three years after this movie came out (for gravity waves of all things). Kip Thorne knows very well that there are two pillars of modern science: Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity, that are very famously incompatible. This incompatibility is very famous because none other than Albert Einstein labels Quantum Physics incomplete and talks a little shit despite being one of the Founding Fathers of Quantum Physics, calling it "spukhafte Fernwirkungen," which means "spooky actions at a distance," which is basically Einstein's main problem with Quantum Physics in the EPR Paradox. Now, since Einstein is the Michael Jordan of Scientists, he obviously has the right to talk a little shit since he definitely deserves his GOAT status for Special Relativity/ General Relativity. The EPR Paradox takes an example of Quantum Entanglement of Bell particles (elementary particles) at extremely great distances (although recently, Sabine Hossenfelder reminded Journalists on the 2022 Nobel Prize for Physics - Bell Inequality Violations, that it's the quantum interaction that's primarily at issue in EPR, not the entanglement). Einstein uses this perceived absurdity to present his own Interpretation of Quantum Physics (summed up: "Missing variables that we can't detect are causing it to happen, not the Copenhagen interpretation which involves the Born Rule and is very indeterminate"). Of course Einstein might feel some kind of way about quantum physics given his interest and bias with Relativity since he's the one that discovered it and all. Einstein is also very much a Determinist, so you can see his problems with the orthodox Copenhagen interpretation of quantum physics.
By the end of the movie, Murphy Cooper really is just as important to the story as Joseph Cooper was, and probably a lot more so. Both Joseph Cooper and Murphy Cooper had to go through all of the events that they did to produce the ending result. According to the movie, Murphy Cooper is the one that reconciles our two pillar of modern science, which apparently leads Humanity to the ability to build livable habitation in space. In present day, this would probably qualify Murphy Cooper for the next five years of Nobel Prizes for Physics given the alternative was probably human extinction. Actually, at that point, they might just present all future Nobel Prize Award Winners for Physics the Murphy Cooper Trophy similar to the way the NBA Finals MVP Award is given with the Bill Russell Trophy. Humanity has come up with String Theory/ M Theory to try to solve this amazing problem and has sadly come up with zilch.
Without Kip Thorne's involvement in Interstellar, Nolan would never been able to produce these kind of stakes and/or this sort of result. I feel he achieved bringing the science to sci-fi just as well (if not more so) than 2001: A Space Odyssey. In a Marvel tired world, maybe there would be an interest in movies like Interstellar and 2001 who at least try to stick closer to the science part of sci-fi. I vote for Christopher Nolan and Roger Penrose! Nolan/Penrose Microtubles Orchestrated Objective Reduction in 2028! :)

Decent game but how do I improve?
I had this game earlier and I was wondering is anyone had any tips or tricks on improving? 1)I know I need to work on staying with my team but sometimes my adhd gets the best of me 2) I am absolutely shit with my DM I’m trying but sometimes I feel like it last a long time and others I feel like it last two seconds? Replay code is: MBXBG5 (Also not sure if it matters but I play on the switch💀)

2024.04.28 22:04 Unaffiliatedlybased Should the next Avatar try to reverse Korra’s choices

I’m rewatching LoK to try and give it another chance, and it has honestly made me question Korra more. To start with it’s not from a place of blind rage, I actually like Korra as a person far more than Aang. However, she constantly destroys everything with careless action and no forethought. I don’t think she did a single thing correctly concerning the spirits. The physical and spirit world were separated for a reason and after watching Wan she still couldn’t put it together. Not to mention her utter failure to protect to cycle. We don’t even need to get into the Earth Kingdom saga and how horribly she handled that.
I don’t know what degree any of her failed Quick Time Events can be fixed but hopefully a no nonsense Earth Kingdom Avatar fixes it, however possible. Per usual.

2024.04.28 22:04 LilianCampbell i love how our choices matter in the rabbit fest

spoilers for the event of course
i was really happy with all those different choices, and had a lot of fun replaying and seeing the the variations for each one
If there's one thing i dislike is when we get two choices that basically say the same thing, or worse, two different choices but the characters act like we didn't say anything
So i had a blast in rabbit fest ! Like Dylla treats us differently based on how we great her
We can either be enthusiastic or ashamed like deuce and epel
Depending on how your character acts they either are really good with the bugle or play it badly
and so many more choices, that can show yuu's personallity, i had so much fun picking then, some are hilarious
And because the characters actually react based on the options, this time i actually felt like i'm participating in the story, instead of just being a blank slate and if i wasn't there it would make no difference
i wish the game was like that all the time, vague enough to self-insert, but still make you feel like you're participating

2024.04.28 22:03 HiroshiTakeshi Robosapien / Arduino Hack - Update 2

Hello guys. I'm the guy working on a Robosapien hack with the arduino Pro Micro. (Just check my profile, links don't work outside of comments ig.)
Unfortunately Reddit's Markdown editor shifting ended up deleting my whole post which I'm still pissed about so I'll just document the journey once everything is done.
Basically I've managed to connect the LED with the bluetooth module (changed for a HC-05) to test if the issue was the connexion between the board and the RS. Yup, it is. So to make it short, despite the fact that the pin 16 (previously 3) is wired to the "OUT" pin of the RS's motherboard, this little [REDACTED] does NOT move. However, the LED commands I added for testing of the connexion DO work.
And to add, because it can give clues: Adding the wrong code can stun the IR receiver, meaning there IS a connection between the APM and the RS's MB since the receiver gets overriden by the Arduino. Rewriting with an unrelated code can fix that, so don't worry. The problem seems to be its way to interpret the commands sent by the Arduino.
So I'll plug my code in and the different attempts I made. But I'd need help on this one, again, sorry for that, guys. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
int led = 15; int LedControl = 8; int action = 0; const int irPin = 16; const int tsDelay = 833; enum roboCommand { // Movement Commands (no shift) turnRight = 0x80, rightArmUp = 0x81, rightArmOut = 0x82, tiltBodyRight = 0x83, rightArmDown = 0x84, rightArmIn = 0x85, walkForward = 0x86, walkBackward = 0x87, turnLeft = 0x88, leftArmUp = 0x89, leftArmOut = 0x8A, tiltBodyLeft = 0x8B, leftArmDown = 0x8C, leftArmIn = 0x8D, stopMoving = 0x8E, // Additional Commands (GREEN and ORANGE shift) // Example: Add more commands as needed whistle = 0xCA, roar = 0xCE, RSRightHandStrike = 0xC0, RSRightHandSweep = 0xC1, burp = 0xC2, RSRightHandStrike2 = 0xC3, RSHigh5 = 0xC4, RSFart = 0xC7, RSLeftHandStrike = 0xC8, RSLeftHandSweep = 0xC9, RSWakeUp = 0xB1, }; void setup() { pinMode(irPin, OUTPUT); digitalWrite(irPin, HIGH); pinMode(LedControl, OUTPUT); pinMode(led, OUTPUT); Serial1.begin(9600); // Initialize serial communication with HC-05 Serial1.println("Robosapien Start"); } void delayTS(unsigned int slices) { delayMicroseconds(tsDelay * slices); } void writeCommand(int cmd) { digitalWrite(irPin, LOW); delayTS(8); for (int b = 7; b >= 0; b--) { digitalWrite(irPin, HIGH); delayTS((cmd & (1 << b)) ? 4 : tsDelay); digitalWrite(irPin, LOW); delayTS(tsDelay); } digitalWrite(irPin, HIGH); digitalWrite(LedControl, LOW); digitalWrite(led, LOW); } void loop() { if (Serial1.available() > 0) { char action = Serial1.read(); if(action=='a'){ writeCommand(leftArmUp); // Raise left arm delay(5000); } if(action=='b'){ writeCommand(rightArmUp); // Raise right arm delay(5000); } if(action=='c'){ writeCommand(leftArmOut); // Extend left arm delay(5000); } if(action=='d'){ writeCommand(rightArmOut); // Extend right arm delay(5000); } if(action=='e'){ writeCommand(leftArmDown); // Lower left arm delay(5000); } if(action=='f'){ writeCommand(rightArmDown); // Lower right arm delay(5000); } if(action=='g'){ writeCommand(leftArmIn); // Tuck left arm delay(5000); } if(action=='h'){ writeCommand(rightArmIn); // Tuck right arm delay(5000); } if(action=='i'){ writeCommand(tiltBodyLeft); // Tilt body on the left delay(5000); } if(action=='j'){ writeCommand(turnLeft); // Turn body to the left delay(5000); } if(action=='k'){ writeCommand(turnRight); // Turn body to the right delay(5000); } if(action=='l'){ writeCommand(RSLeftHandStrike); // Hand strike with left hand delay(5000); } if(action=='m'){ writeCommand(RSLeftHandSweep); // Sweep left hand delay(5000); } if(action=='n'){ writeCommand(tiltBodyRight); // Tilt body on the right delay(5000); } if(action=='o'){ writeCommand(RSRightHandSweep); // Sweep right hand delay(5000); } if(action=='p'){ writeCommand(RSHigh5); // High five delay(5000); } //Stopping function if(action=='q'){ writeCommand(stopMoving); // Stop any movement delay(3000); } //Walking functions if(action=='r'){ writeCommand(walkBackward); // Walk Backward delay(6000); } if(action=='s'){ writeCommand(walkForward); // Walk Forward delay(6000); } //Random Functions if(action=='t'){ writeCommand(whistle); // Whistling delay(5000); } if(action=='u'){ writeCommand(roar); // Roars delay(5000); } if(action=='v'){ writeCommand(burp); // Burp delay(5000); } if(action=='w'){ writeCommand(RSWakeUp); // Wake up delay(5000); } if(action=='x'){ writeCommand(RSRightHandStrike); // Type 1 - Right Hand Strike delay(5000); } if(action=='y'){ writeCommand(RSRightHandStrike2); // Type 2 - Right Hand Strike delay(5000); } if(action=='z'){ writeCommand(RSFart); // Farts delay(5000); } } }

These are my estimates. I am dropping them here for brevity. Additional information follows. It is recommended content, and useful to understand what strategy is being deployed in business, estimations, how it likely unfolds, where value may lay, and CEO probable intention.

2024Q1 Earnings Estimates for UWMC (Left) and RKT (Right)
Changes:
Majestic 8.0 (M8) dealt with MSRA by recursion, correlating output MSRA to Rate Shock. Equations and RSQ values describe the correlation. Given these details, projections simply applied the equation, ending with a mathematical unbiased approach to MSRA predictions.
For the last couple of quarters, M8 RSQ values sank. Reesolution was needed. A former paper of mine cited a quote by Winston Churchill. Rate shock, Recapture, and Excess sales. Indeed, the RSQ change was a Riddle, Mystery, and Enigma. Fixing is was an issue, as existing complexity was to be not only preserved but improved
Majestic 9.0 (M9, New) has changes to deal with Recapture and Excess. M9, takes MSRA and subtracts Excess and Recapture out as a preconditioning stage before recursion, equation building, and RSQ measurement. What is presumed to be left is MSRARS after removal of Recapture and Excess wherein the Riddle is solved.
Why is this important?
Changes in the basis of projections and introduction on new modeling carries risk. Full disclosure by me is both ethical and advised. That said, I looked it over a lot and believe it free from error.
Excess Sales and Recapture (1,000s):
In CY2023, MSR Excess sales of (588,556), (383,694) fair value occurred for UWMC and RKT respectively. These sales represented 14.62%, 5.96% of the total MSR FV reported at the end of the year respectively.
In 2023Q4, MSR Recapture was not reported by RKT. Rather, comments were made in earnings calls by both parties suggesting RKT may have applied MSR Recapture. Majestic also asserts that RKT applied MSR Recapture based on RSQ numbers. Former papers written by the imply the estimated recapture of 609,086 was added by RKT to MSRA.
The former, facts with regards to excess sales with recapture more subjective only in context of it not being declared by RKT nor its value. Although applied in 2023, it enters into M9 prediction thru recursion. M9 (unbiased) weighs in at 0.924312, 0.799129 RSQ for RKT MSRA modeling with recapture and without recapture. It's pretty definitive from a math perspective.

![img](vc1x6p4st9xc1 "FY2023 MSR Declared Excess Sales and Recapture Estimates ")
From a strategic perspective, actions today speak to how each CEO intends to run their business in 2024. In the following paragraphs, we summarize what Excess, Recapture do and touch on MSR response having Negative convexity.
Excess sales decreases the MSR FV directly and indirectly while retaining UPB levels. Directly, as a sale it decreases capitalization levels by 100% of the sale value. Indirectly, the MSRA value decreases even further due to its impact to future servicing flows. It follows that Excess sales decreases MSR FV at a level greater than 100% of the sale price. There is nothing that takes down the stated MSRFV at a faster rate than Excess Sales. Confused about the impact being greater than the sale? So was I, until I realized that the change in capitalization converts to cash levels positively impacting equity. I would like to get to the core issue here. MSRA is the value placed on future cash flows that have not happened. That value is model based and does not model “projected FED actions”. For the record, MSR WAC is 4.43% for UWMC
Recapture restates MSR FV to a higher multiple while retaining UPB levels and clients for potential refinance. It is not a sale like a title transfer of a right. So it enters the MSR A only. It is almost the inverse of Excess Sales. It makes MSRCFV contribution to revenue more sensitive to rate shock moves up or down.
Negative convexity speaks to the fact that MSR assets are more aggressive in change with negative rate shock. In consideration of the FED funds rate anticipated drop later in 2024, one would think divestiture of MSR assets would be wise, capturing value before it is lost to MSR fair value modeling. This is indeed the move that UWMC appears to be making.
Actions here suggest RKT’s CEO believes the FED will capitulate on the expected rate drop or that a recession lay ahead with continued market stress. On the other hand, RKT made comments about MSR servicing revenue as ‘particularly attractive'. There is no reason to not ‘weigh’ these statements and behavior and come to the conclusion that RKT appears to be aligning its equity toward maintaining MSR levels or increasing them. This is possible with hedging. I presume there is a cost to hedge and it comes down to a calculation of how much expense is required to undo future anticipated MSR loss. Applying recapture can only increase those costs.
For this quarter, rate shock was positive, RKT wins the MSRCFV battle. Recapture inflated MSRFV that functions as a multiple of MSRARS impact (positive in this quarter). UWMC prepares for the FED dropping rates by grabbing equity which is the 'long game'. FED actions, future expected market state and CEO opinion here is declared in these actions.
Final Comments
With RKT applying recapture, the stated Market Value of the MSR asset has a greater probability to be higher than UWMC MSR FV. I believe the carry value is near equal, but WAC values are 3.74% and 4.43% respectively – they are not the same in terms of REFI potential. If RKT valuation is correct, UWMC valuation is under. If UWMC, then RKT is over. It matters as here as there has been a massive MSR sale with UWMC. This may result in an MSR re-statement to market value with gain in the MSR Sales column as well.
This is a great opportunity to determine market value of the MSR Asset. That sale could push my proposed numbers higher.
There is obviously latitude for UWMC to apply recapture and inflate earnings. I am not expecting Santa Clause. These things have long term negative effects if we take FED Rate expectations into consideration.
UWMC EPS improvement over the previous quarter is nearly double that of RKT and would have been much more if RKT had not applied recapture.
I have pointed these things out as there are distinct differences in strategy. Excess, Recapture are very unpredictable as to when and how much. For this reason, I the least confident of MSR CFV numbers that I forecast because of these dynamics.
UWMC is an early filer and I am expecting earnings announcement Monday with a mild run up.

2024.04.28 21:57 Acrobatic_Bunch3632 How to deal with grief guilt.

Feeling guilty that you are no longer here is a feeling that I have gotten all too used to now. Before your passing, I never even knew this was a thing. I didn't realise that along with all of the heartbreak, I would also feel a great sense of guilt too. I think it hits me more during the moments when I least expect it. The times when I am together with our family, the parties, the events, and the milestones. I get a sudden wave of guilt that comes over me and I guess it's normal to feel like this, it's normal to feel like it's not fair that the person you love so much can no longer be here or be around for this. It's a hard truth to come to terms with. The feelings of sadness and the pain in my heart I feel like I can understand where they come from because losing you was a loss far too great but the guilt that's a really hard one to get my head around. Because I feel constantly torn between feeling guilty for enjoying these moments without you and also thinking about what you would have wanted for me. You would want to see me enjoying myself. You wouldn't want me to be sad for the life that was denied to you.
To begin to deal with grief guilt I first had to understand why and when I get these feelings. It's different for everyone, we all have different things that we may feel guilty about for me it's not being there on the night that it happened. I tormented myself for so long thinking if I had been with you that night would this have happened? Would things be different? A year later I am coming to terms with the fact that if I had been there or not it's all irrelevant because it would have still happened, you would have still had a stroke and the outcome would have unfortunately always been the same. I can't keep tormenting myself over this night. I got to see you before you passed and I take great comfort in that I am glad I wasn't miles away. I will forever be grateful that I had a chance to say goodbye. As I am aware so many others unfortunately have to go through this and don't get the chance to say goodbye to their loved ones. Now my guilt often comes in waves and this normally happens during the happier times, the celebrations, the holidays, the milestones, and the views- those sunsets that you loved so much. That's when I now feel this wave of guilt as I think to myself you should be here too, you should be seeing this with us or celebrating with us.
So the first thing I would ask yourself is why do you think you feel this way? Why and when do you get these feelings of guilt? Most of the time it's not because we necessarily did anything wrong but it's other factors that play a part like the things that we overthink. 'The should of’s, could of’s and would of's'. Just because you feel guilty it doesn't mean that you are guilty for anything, our minds love to overthink everything. As we grieve I have also learned that we like something to hold on to and guilt can be one of the biggest things that we can cling to when we are grieving somebody that we love. We like to find something we can blame, this is all part of the grieving process. We like to imagine the ‘what ifs’ and we will replay things over and over in our minds like 'What if we did this differently or What if we did this instead of this'. The harsh truth is we can't change anything that has already happened we can learn from things, experiences, and people but we can't change past events. Some things are completely out of our control and this can be extremely hard to come to terms with. Some tips that have helped me to deal with my grief guilt:
Acknowledging that guilt is a normal grief emotion. It is so important to try and feel every single emotion that comes your way. Guilt is normal and as ugly as it can be at times it’s all part of the healing process. Just try and always remember that some things are out of your control.
Think about what your guilt is all about. Is it rational or irrational? If your feelings are irrational then please try not to be so hard on yourself, I know this is easier said than done but it's so damaging to yourself. None of us can predict the future. Nobody knows what's going to happen. Being honest with yourself about your guilt is important, and accepting that grief is sometimes irrational can be helpful. Talk it over with others. Talking anything through with others is the best advice that anyone ever gave me so I want to share that with you too. There is a famous saying that says 'a problem shared is a problem halved' and this I have learnt to be so true. Sometimes all you need is to let it all out, hearing another person tell you not to be so hard on yourself or to be a little more rational can help in those darker moments. Find positive thoughts to balance your guilt thoughts. “Thought stopping” is a technique. The idea is this – when you notice a negative thought taking over (such as guilt) make a conscious effort to stop and replace the thought. It might not always be quite this simple but there is value in having a positive thought balancing a negative guilt thought you are experiencing. If you are feeling guilty that you were not there at the moment of your loved one’s death, when that thought comes up try and think of thoughts about the many times you were there. Forgive yourself. Easier said than done I know. Remember forgiveness means accepting that we may have done something we regret, but thinking about it rationally will help bring us a new attitude and perspective toward ourselves in relation to that action. It doesn’t mean we forget, but it does mean we can find ways to move forward. Take the small wins, the baby steps it's the hardest thing you will ever go through, and as I said previously our brains like to hold onto things whilst grieving and the feeling of guilt is one we hold onto.
Figure out what you have learned. Guilt and death can both often teach us something. We can learn and grow from almost any emotion so take some time to consider what your guilt/ grief has taught you. This has been a huge help to me I have learnt so much from the passing of my loved one it has helped me to slowly move forward. Do something with your guilt. Do something that can help others if you feel up to it. The death of my loved one has inspired me to help others and to be able to share my thoughts and feelings with you all. Lastly, the thing that I try and remind myself of the most is to consider what your loved one would tell you. Imagine telling them how you are feeling – your regrets, your guilt, all of it. If there are things you wish you had said, say them. Then imagine what your loved one would tell you. I know what you would say to me and at times it makes me smile. I take comfort in this one the most and I am trying to think about what you would be saying to me as I journey through my grief. Thank you for taking the time to read my latest article I hope my experiences with loss may be able to help those of you who are experiencing the same pain.
As always, all my love.

2024.04.28 21:55 Remarkable_Lake410 AITA for being truthful with my friends, when telling them I won’t go on a weekend away because I don’t want to talk about marriage / babies for three days?

I (27F), have a group of female friends (8 of us), we have been friends for over a decade, since school. Now we don’t live in the same place, we meet up a couple of times a year for a weekend in an Airbnb. This use to be a weekend of good food, drinks, hot tub etc.
I am content with my life at the moment, I am single, dating and I don’t know if I would like children - but in the event I did I know I wouldn’t want one soon.
Around 5 of my friends are either married or in very long term relationships, of these 5 two either have a baby or are pregnant. I will be seeing all of my friends this year for various wedding / friend / baby events.
I have been invited on this years girls trip, I have said I can’t come. I didn’t originally provide a reason.
When queried, in person by my friend, who is pregnant - I told her the truth. I am not going because it’s a massive financial expense, for three days where we only talk about people’s upcoming engagements / weddings / babies. I have a lot going on, but I feel a lot of my friends do not show an interest unless I talk about some one I’m dating. I also last time, listened to one of my friends talk about her breastfeeding plans, with vengeance, for over an hour. She is not pregnant or trying. Truthfully it’s boring, and it feels dismissive.
It’s also a really expensive way to feel bad about myself.
I made clear when telling my friend this, that I am thrilled for them all living the lives they want, but maybe it’s not the weekend for me at the moment. Meaning it feels like the group has two distinct life stages, I’m in the minority and it focuses on one stage.
My friend has since told me, she’s really hurt I am not excited for her, or our other friends. I responded saying, I evidently was (from other actions), but I just didn’t think the trip was for me. I do have numerous other things on, and to fit this in both in the calendar and financially is a struggle. I just want to add for this friend specifically I have gone on three weekends away for her wedding, and I am flying to go her baby shower - all the in the last two years. I have not asked her, nor has she wanted to fly to see me for anything in the last two years.
So my query is AITA for being truthful with the reason why I can’t go?
