2024.05.15 00:49 viksl [New player question] I don't understand Japan's shinobi, how do you utilize this unit, please?

Hi, I'm a new player so I'm really bad, I don't understand much so I'm trying to focus on just one or so nations for now to get used to the game.
But I have a question about the Japanese shinobi and the Koka landmark. The Kura landmark (the farms) seems to me to be a lot more useful but I've been trying the Koka landmark for couple games to see what I could do with it and I have to I feel sorta not understanding the shinobi unit, especially compared to the free farms and a gather buff from the other landmark.
Would you please tell me how you play them these days? I found couple posts from months ago but I assume game updates changed the game quite a bit since then.
Just to clarify, it just doesn't seem to be a very useful unit in my hands so I'd like to learn, the idea seems cool I just can't imagine (considering it's an early landmark and only landmark unit) it being very good option in game? (Maybe it's more focused on FFA matches?)
Thank you very much.

2024.05.15 00:45 saltedwater428 35m just looking for some friends

Hi everyone! I lack friends in life right now so would like to change that. I have a very large amount of free time so it'd be cool if you did too. I'd honestly like someone I can talk to a lot.
Stuff I like in list form because I like lists:
Okay the list is long enough. DM me if you'd like to talk and maybe be friends! Please say more than just "hi". At least your age/gender and a comment about something in my post would be nice :)

2024.05.15 00:45 slumberingdreams 22[M4F] California/Anywhere - Nerd looking for plus size

Hey there, I'm looking for someone new to talk to with the possibility of it becoming something more! (as the title says, I do prefer much larger body types as they're cute to me, but please know I'm not looking for sexual chat!) I really love learning about people, and would love to learn about someone new, about their passions and interests, and have someone who loves doing the same in return! I ideally would like to talk on discord eventually!
As the title says, I'm definitely more of a nerd than anything, haha. I love reading, cooking and baking, video games, and generally more homebody hobbies. I currently live in California and I'm going to start my first year of College this fall! To describe myself, I'm around 5'10, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and I'm on the chubby side myself (although I'm losing weight, down 10 pounds and counting!). I'm also asexual, so I'd like someone who's okay with that!
For a partner, I'd ideally want someone genuine and caring, and while not required, it'd really help if you shared some of my hobbies! I don't have many appearance preferences, tbh!

2024.05.15 00:45 ViimaKi Steam achievements sync

Hi everyone, I need help with something that happened to me today while I was playing. I just switched to PC and purchased Fallout 76. During my session I unlocked some achievements but when I closed the game I noticed that steam unlocked them all with the same data and in random order which bothers me. Searching around I learned that it is possible to use the Steam console to re-block achievements. Does using this method cause problems ? Will I be able to get those achievements again ?

2024.05.15 00:43 brokenface2727 Male diagnosed at 27

Some background info: grew up without father and with a neglectful mother who did not have time for me because of my younger sibling with disabilities.
I was diagnosed with bdd a couple months ago. Ive had bdd since i was a young kid. It started with my ears. My ears are protruding and big. I was called monkey a few times growing up and of course i would agree with them. I started to grow my hair long to cover them and i also wore alot of hats to cover them(still obsessively wears hats). I noticed a girl in class who got her ears fixed and i got a bit jealous. I wish my mother would have taken my concerns seriously as it would have spared me ALOT of anxiety. Ear surgery is free in my country if u are a child and it bothers you.
Anyway, i broke my nose when i was 10 playing football. This didnt bother me too much as i had a small kids nose then, but when puberty came it grew bigger and it was now big and noticable crooked. This became my new obsession. I already had a poor self image and this really broke my spirit.
My teenage years and 20s were full of avoidance and anxiety. No pictures of myself, no instagram etc. I never opened up to anyone. I was too ashamed. I knew i had body dysmorphia but it was too shameful to admit. I also hate to talk about my apparence.
Body dysmorphia is an incredible lonely disorder. It strips away ur fundamental need of connecting with people and isolates you. Ive been through periods of extreme depression and loneliness. I still have almost daily suicidal thoughts. Bdd is usually accompanied by trauma aswell. In my case emotional neglect, abandonment and bullying. I have always had the thought that one day i would kill myself. It was the conclusion i came to. However i am realizing that i dont have it in me. It would destroy my brothers.
So now i am trying therapy. It hasnt helped much yet but hopefully it will and i will learn to accept my disfigured face.
I somehow did manage to have a girlfriend for a few years but that is a while ago.
Some things i do Frequent mirror checking or avoiding mirrors. Wear hat or caps to hide my face. Avoid jobs that require interacting with too many people. Stuck in bad jobs. Avoid social events, parties, dating Dissociate through gaming, youtube, shows etc. Chronic people pleaser Struggle with emotions. Very intense and unpredictable Unstable sense of self
Anyways That is my story, i wish i had gotten help earlier. My brain is fully developed now and its harder to rewrite my thoughts.
So if you are young, please get help as soon as you can. I wish i wouldve swallowed my pride and be more honest with my doctor.

Zuoshou vs G2 Caps- 3 solokill
I hear people say zuoshou only smurfs in low elo lobbies and isn’t the best Vlad. This game js D1 masters elo and zuoshou solo kills caps 3 times. If you watch the VOD, he is so clearly the best Vlad player. Maybe he isn’t as educational as others, but you can still learn by watching his gameplay.

2024.05.15 00:40 PassionHaunting376 physician assistant (PA) personal statement feedback plz

Hello everyone. I am a pre-PA student just finished with my undergrad in biology. I am grateful that I graduated and hope to go into PA program soon. I
I did my draft in my personal statement for PA program and was curious what you guys think on it. It might not be well-wrtten as this is my draft, but just wanted some honest feedback. (I tried not to look into other personal statement as I may unintentionally write it in my personal statement, and I just wanted to write it as honest as I can). Thank you guys!!!
Growing up, soccer was more than just a game; it was my sanctuary, a source of validation among friends. However, amidst the victories on the field, I often found myself navigating the complexities of the healthcare system due to various health challenges like atopic dermatitis, hearing impairments, and chronic sinusitis, which necessitated numerous surgeries. Despite these trials, my curiosity about the medical field remained latent, occasionally surfacing during my frequent hospital visits. It wasn't until an unexpected encounter during my stint at a restaurant that the seeds of my interest in medicine truly began to sprout.
As a young immigrant juggling familial responsibilities and the demands of the American dream, healthcare often took a backseat to financial concerns. However, witnessing my father's injury and the subsequent emergency response awakened a newfound appreciation for the healthcare profession. It was in those chaotic moments that I first encountered a Physician Assistant (PA) calmly orchestrating patient care, igniting a spark within me. This encounter, coupled with subsequent volunteering experiences in emergency rooms, propelled me towards a path of self-discovery and professional aspiration.
While the allure of medical school loomed large, it was the versatility and patient-centered approach of the PA profession that ultimately captured my heart. Through shadowing experiences and interactions with PAs, I gained a nuanced understanding of the integral role they play in healthcare delivery. Unlike the rigid hierarchy of traditional medicine, the collaborative nature of the PA profession resonated deeply with my values of teamwork and holistic patient care.
My journey towards becoming a PA has been characterized by resilience, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. From navigating the complexities of immigration to balancing academic pursuits with financial responsibilities, each challenge has fortified my resolve to excel in this field. As I embark on this next chapter as a PA student, I am committed to leveraging my diverse experiences and unwavering determination to thrive academically and professionally.
In preparation for this endeavor, I have immersed myself in various facets of healthcare, from serving tables at a restaurant to undergoing EMT training. Each experience has shaped my understanding of patient interaction, clinical assessment, and the importance of effective communication. Armed with a deep-seated passion for healthcare and a steadfast commitment to lifelong learning, I am poised to make a meaningful impact as a future PA.
In conclusion, my journey towards becoming a PA is not merely a career choice but a testament to my unwavering dedication to serving others. With each step forward, I am reminded of the profound impact that compassionate, patient-centered care can have on individuals and communities alike. As I eagerly anticipate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, I am filled with a sense of purpose and gratitude for the privilege of embarking on this noble profession.

2024.05.15 00:39 PassProtect15 The Pistons need to pick Bronny James at No. 5 overall

I know Bronny's USC stats (4.8 points, 2.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds) aren't jaw-dropping, but hear me out.
Bronny’s been around the game his whole life, learning from LeBron. He’s got a high basketball IQ and a strong work ethic and elite shooting mechanics. His defense is solid, and he can guard multiple positions, which fits perfectly with our defensive schemes.
Adding Bronny to our young core would be huge. He’s versatile and can play alongside Cade and Jaden, giving us more lineup flexibility. Plus, he brings leadership qualities that can help our team grow together. And he has less turnovers than Cade FWIW.
Drafting Bronny would also boost our marketability and fan engagement. More attention on the Pistons means more excitement around our team.
Bronny’s potential is off the charts. With the right development, he could become a star. Let’s give him a chance to shine in Detroit y'all.

2024.05.15 00:38 Neil-Revin Can someone become fluent in a language solely through listening and reading

I'm from Brazil, and while teaching at a local school, something happened that left me surprised. We all know that when learning a foreign language, we should study all skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking. The most common way of learning is focusing first on the input skills (listening and reading), and when those abilities are strong enough, we start to study the output skills (writing and speaking). However, it's common sense that if we want to learn how to speak, we should speak, and if we want to read better, we should read, and so on. However, I taught a class of students aged between 7 to 8 years old, and among them, there was a girl who had never spoken in her entire life, let's call her Marie. The reason for that is because Marie was raised by people with speaking disabilities, and she never had someone to talk to at home. Her house was isolated from other houses, so she didn't have friends growing up. One day, I was playing a guessing drawing game, where one student drew something on the whiteboard, and the other students had to guess the drawing. Whoever guessed first won points and was the next to draw. When one student started drawing a cone, Marie shouted: "ICE CREAM!" Everyone stopped to look at her since no one had ever heard her voice. This was the first time she spoke, and from that day forward, she started talking more and more, with a super natural Portuguese. She also didn't write at 8 years old; she only wrote some letters but not much, and from that day forward, both speaking and writing were unlocked, and she started progressing quickly.
So, is it possible to be fluent in a foreign language, developing the output skills only by reading and listening?"

2024.05.15 00:34 YourStonerGF 33F, US, Would anybody like to be friends in Duolingo??

I'm rather nerdy. I spend most of my days at home hanging out with the cats. I've loved art ever since I was very young. I have big ambitions to have my own graphic design gig some day.
I love video games. I got a lot to play on. PS5, Xbox One, Switch, Meta Quest 2, and my iPad. So, like, pretty much everything but PC 😅 I also collect PS1 & 2 games to play on my PlayStation 2. In recent years I've been very casual with my gaming, playing a lot of platformers and survival/crafting games. I'll play a bit of everthing, though, except, like, sports games.
I love tabletop games. Star Wars Legion, Warhammer 40K/AoS, Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, Digimon TCG, and Lorcana. I love to paint miniatures as well, but it's a bit of a struggle to actually get people to play with me. Never really gotten the chance to play an TTRPG, but would love to. I suffer from a bit of learning curve.
I love music. Dance Gavin Dance, Papa Roach, Twenty-One Pilots, A Day To Remember, stuff like that. Bit of an elder emo. I wish I could play an instrument, but I fear I may be tone deaf 🙃
I love Marvel. Spider-Man's probably my favorite.
I love Harry Potter. Pretty sure my house is Hufflepuff.
Huge fan of The Office. I've seen the whole series countless times.
I love horror movies and got into true crime on YouTube few years ago. My favorite horror movie is probably The Blair Witch Project, second to the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I love anime and manga. Demon Slayer is by far my favorite. I also really love Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Digimon, Dragon Ball, and Sword Art Online.
I'm doin' a Japanese course on Duolingo.
I love baking, coffee, and grilling. I don't have too much confidence in my cooking skills 😅 I'm rather adept at baking though, and I love smoked meats 🤤
🟢4 20 friendly because some seem confused🟢

2024.05.15 00:32 pc_06 help finding trusted sources?

hi, I am very new to pirating, so new that I have never done it before.
I for my whole life I've bought my games legitimately, and to be fair, I don't know how I feel about pirating, but life is getting expensive, and I've fallen on hard times, I just don't have the money anymore to spend 50 bucks on a new AAA game, just to find out its shit and never play it again then eat instant noodles for a week just so some fat mf at EA can by another mansion in the Bahamas, then pump out another piece of shit expensive money grab excuse for a game.
so, I joined this subreddit.
as I mentioned previously, I don't have much money, and I can't afford to have my pc repaired after it gets injected with a ton of malware and viruses, there is so many websites I have found that claim to offer free steam games, but how do I tell which ones are legit?
if someone could help me to learn a bit about where I can get pirated games for cheap, or if possible free, without having my credit card stolen and my life fucked into oblivion, that would be great, thank you.

2024.05.15 00:28 FlyingPigs3210 Job is extremely slow but have golden handcuffs. Not sure if I am doing myself a disservice by staying or if it would be idiotic to leave. What is your opinion?

I know there's not a right answer to this but I am curious what other people would suggest. Basically I have a job that pays me a base of $100k and commissions and bonus can be anywhere from $30k to $200k depending on the year; on average I make $200k and any other job I am qualified for would pay me $100-120k.
I work in retail bankruptcy restructuring which which typically does really well in down markets but there's also only so many bankruptcies that happen with large retailers a year. I've been in-between projects for about a year now. I am not worried about losing my job while the market is the way it is. I can easily go from the 5-10 hour work week back to 60 in a blink of an eye. Over the last year I am probably averaging 15 hours of work a week. If we go into a heavy recession or I get put on another large project I could easily make $300k a year.
The problem is I am so bored and I am learning nothing. I have mild anxiety about not progressing my career and falling behind. I can either find a new job and make less, but learn more while progressing my career but if we go into a recession I could be at risk of losing the potential new job. Or I can stay, hopefully make some significant coin and invest it for the next 30 years (I'm 29 now). Making that extra $100-$200k a year with compound interest could end up being a million dollar mistake with it properly invested. It's also worth noting I work remote 4 days a week but need to be by my desk so I just clean, workout, play video games, and take my dogs for walks. I'm not sure what I should be doing with this time to make myself feel productive and continue learning.
Do I just twiddle my thumbs, be bored and not learn or do I try and make a move? What would you do?
TLDR; I make good money without working much but am not learning or progressing my career at all. I am unsatisfied.

2024.05.15 00:24 dirtyiana Finally made it to gold after being stuck in Iron all year last year. I'm still having trouble unlearning all the bad habits I got while being stuck in Iron/bronze. I don't how to go on from here. Ranked anxiety now too

I play top and support (sometimes) 56%wr but i've had a couple of rocky games in the beginning, currently on a winstreak so i'm hoping it will go up more
champs are:
top: kayle(hybrid mostly)/gwen/camille /malphite occasionally..
supp:Janna/senna/whatever my adc wants
The game is just so much different in iron/bronze than silvegold.. i imagine it gets harder now that I'll start playing with play players too.
I had to learn how to be the carry in every game and even then it didn't matter sometimes because the lobbies were filled with bots and smurfs. I had to be play the game differently than what all the guides tell you. Because there's no order, I used to do random things because my enemy also does random things until I cheesed my way out of bronze
Now that I've played in silvegold.. I'm sensing abit more order to the games and at the very least my teammates understand what's going on. I no longer have to beg my team to do objectives or get flamed by my adc because i took his cannon with the supp item. And for top lane I just feel more comfortable taking trades and the matchups overall feel more fair.
I know to some people all these ranks are the same but to me I feel the difference and I'm worried about going further. I make alot of mistakes that would'nt mattered in iron. like face checking bushes and perma fighting while playing kayle even though I needed the solo xp.
I guess I just want general advice that you'd give to someone who's new to league, even though I'm not, who just got put in gold or something. There are some things that are obvious to me but I just want to make sure I know everything before going on more games

I am currently going through a Swift and SwiftUI tutorial for making an iOS app, but after that I am thinking to just go straight to visionOS app. Is this reasonable?
I am not interested in creating games, but creating productivity apps.
