At some point in the not-so-distant future, I will release a book that I am working on. It is tentatively entitled Take Care, Caretakers. I like the title; however, I’ve been taken with the verbiage in many social media circles that prefer the term “Caregiver” over “Caretaker.” The differences seem semantic at first glance; however, upon closer consideration, there is something generous in “caregiver,” while something seems selfish in “caretaker.” Give versus take seems like a plain and literal difference.
As I’ve been writing through this 122-Day Writing Challenge, I’ve adopted the term caregiver over caretaker. I am starting to question that now. To say we are givers highlights the inherent problem many of us find ourselves in. We are chronic givers to a fault. Giving is not just the only thing (action) we know; it’s often the only thing (action) we feel comfortable and confident doing. We are prime candidates for co-dependency, self-loathing, and an overall sense that we lack value. After all, our society shows little regard for those who give care. Don’t believe me? Just look at our broken systems in pre-K education, geriatric care, and nursing homes. “They” say there are not enough workers to fill those jobs. Does anyone care to guess why that might be?
It is time for the givers of the world to start taking. Taking credit for the work we do. Take ourselves seriously because no one else will until we do it first. It is time that we change the paradigm of only giving care. Yes, we give care, but we don’t give ourselves away in the process. We take the joy, the gratitude, and the growth that is there for us in our work. We take our boundaries seriously and take the necessary steps to enforce those boundaries when necessary.
The work we do is special and specialized. There are many professional caretakers: nurses, teachers, therapists, clergy, etc. And there are even more caretakers who are volunteers–usually unwitting family members who are drafted into this service. But for many of us, this service is a life-changing gift we cannot trade, no matter how much we wish we could.
So, I stand by my original verbiage: “Take Care, Caretakers.” I stand by it because I am declaring it as a challenge.
i just got accepted to jhu for sophomore transfer, and i’m vvvv excited and leaning towards enrolling at jhu. but, i’ve heard that jhu has kind of a “toxic” culture, and it’s hard to maintain a good gpa bc of grade deflation. and also that chembe is preeeetty hard unless you’re an academic weapon (which i am not LOL). though, i have heard that it’s rlly easy to switch majors w no barrier between arts & sciences and engineering. i used to be rlly rlly committed to premed, and it is still my first choice, but i want a backup in case i end up changing my mind. does anyone have any advice or experience abt this? tysm :)
I’ve had my Hybrid XLT for less than a month. I recently noticed that my truck makes clicking noises that sound like a solenoid or mechanical contact closing on/off while it is parked.
At first I naively assumed it was just somehow recognizing the key and was loudly turning on some pre-flight items like A/C, etc. Yesterday I was working on my other vehicle while the Maverick’s key was inside the house and I could still hear the clicking every so often.
Does anyone recognize this behavio issue?
At
When I was watching the pre-game show on Sunday, KJ made a light hearted comment about Ashfin Ghotbi’s “ World class” comment about the new CB & suggested historically Ghotbi’s quotes were sometimes a little OTT and kept the media department busy. So for a bit of fun I googled his quotes on other players and found the following which in hindsight now are quite ironic.
Pele Martinez
MARTINEZ subsequently left the club by mutual agreement midway through 2023.
Amir Kinani
He has an eye and nose for the goal, making him an exciting addition to our squad," said Vancouver head coach, Afshin Ghotbi, about Kinani. "VFC fans are in for a treat, watching the evolution of a true goal scorer."
KINANI was released at the end of 2023.
Nima Zadeh
Nima is a classic midfielder with a high football IQ, tireless work rate and box-to-box range,” Ghotbi said. “He will soon be recognized by many as one of the best midfielders in Canada due to his qualities with and without the ball.”
ZADEH was released at the end of 2023 and hardly played a minute after mid season
Marcus Simmons
We are pleased to welcome Marcus to our group,” said Afshin Ghotbi, head coach of Vancouver FC. “Marcus showed promise in his first season as a professional and we believe there is even more to come for him as he begins to work in this new environment in Langley.”
SIMMONS subsequently left the club by mutual consent midway through 2023.
Mamadou Kane
“I am pleased to welcome Mamadou to our growing group of players,” said Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach, Vancouver FC. “Mamadou is an exciting young talent with the drive to excel. With a year under his belt in the Canadian Premier League, he has developed a good understanding of what it takes to succeed in this game. I look forward to seeing the strides he can make in 2023 as he continues to evolve in our environment.”
KANE was a striker, who was famously played as a CB and then left the club by Mutual consent at the beginning of 2024.
Gael Sandoval
Gael is our most exciting signing in our young history, as he brings with him the tradition and pedigree of world-renowned Chivas and other well-known Mexican clubs,” said Ghotbi. “Gael’s creativity, combined with his football IQ, will influence games, while the qualities he possesses on and off the field are sure to make his teammates around him better.”
SANDOVAL left the club by mutual consent midway through the 2023 season.
Mael Henry and Cristian Mares
Maël and Cristian are both young players with lots of potential,” said Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach, Vancouver FC. “I look forward to putting them both in the best situations to challenge them and continue their development this season.”
MARES was returned to parent club less than 6 weeks after signing and HENRY was traded to Cavalry mid season 2023.
Nicky Gymah
“We are thrilled to introduce to the CPL an exciting winger with pace, creativity and precision in the danger area,” said Ghotbi. “He definitely will be a fan favourite with his ability to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.”
GYMAH left by mutual consent in 2023
Nathanial St Louis
Nathaniel is an exciting young left-footed attacker who is goal dangerous with or without the ball thanks to his vertical movement,” said Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach, Vancouver FC. “He has a bright future in the Canadian Premier League and beyond.”
ST LOUIS was released at the end of 2023
Emmanuel robe
We are thrilled to improve our selection with the signing of Emmanuel,” said Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach, Vancouver FC. “He is a natural goal scorer who combines his athleticism with a decisive final touch. He can combine in the smallest spaces and beat most of his opponents with his world-class pace.”
ROBE left the club by mutual consent during the 2023 season
Ibrahim Bakare
We are thrilled to introduce a fantastic defender in Ibrahim, who possesses personality, quality and experience beyond his young age,” said Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach, Vancouver FC. “His power, athleticism and versatility will make him a valuable addition to our squad.
BAKARE left by mutual consent at the beginning of the 2024 season.
All 12 either had contracts mutually terminated or not signed for a second season.
I just hope the “ I think you are looking at a championship winning team” quote to season ticket holders at the kit launch is the one he finally gets right !
I relive the same day.
I've never heard of the Glitch of The Matrix until TikTok, and here's my story. I noticed this started when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade and has happened 100+ times since.
It usually starts in my dreams; the first one I remember clearly is when I went to school. My teacher wore a blue dress with white polka dots, and I couldn't see her face. I ended up in trouble, and she put me at a table by myself; a kid and his mom (I couldn't see her face) passed out a snack for his birthday and had a vanilla cupcake with rainbow sprinkles. My brother was wearing a green sweater, and it was hot that day in Denver. He complained about the heat when he got in the car.
When I woke up, I went to school. My teacher was gone, and we had a substitute teacher so that I couldn't see her face in my dream. She was in a blue dress with white polka dots. I got in trouble; she put me at the table. A kid and his mom, who now I could see her face, passed out cupcakes, and he handed me the vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. My brother said something about the heat and gave me his sweater.
On serious note, I've had a dream of my brother dying and my grandfather dying, and within the year, they both died, and it happened the exact way I dreamt it. I seem unable to know the dates of when it will happen, numbers (no Powerball, calendars, etc), and the faces of people I don't know. I have become so familiar with it that I know when it's happening. I have told my partner and documented numerous moments I had a dream about COVID in September of 2019. Sometimes, it can be as simple as someone talking to me, my best friend getting fired, breakups, or anything that feels like a core memory for others.
Anyone else out there experience anything like this?
Tomorrow I start week 3 of .025! I’m really confused on how to continue this but I’m trying. First week I shot in my stomach, complete suppressed appetite and maybe a little diarrhea and constipation. This was fine with me, nothing major. I was actually so excited because I definitely could feel it working.
2nd week, shot in my arm. GIRL. Appetite back up, hungrier, and terrible ANXIETY. It was so bad I almost stopped breathing. Still constipated etc but the anxiety is so bad. Almost to the point where I’m debating if I should even take the 3rd shot.
However, I have been reading a lot of posts on here saying where you give yourself the shot might make the side effects different. Should I try the thigh next? Go back to the stomach shot? People also say doing it in the stomach is worse.. but the arm(2nd week) was the worst week for me. I do have pre existing conditions of anxiety and depression but haven’t had any issues with it for 3 years until the 2nd week of wegovy. I know that sometimes it can make it worse if you have these issues beforehand but I really want to see this through… this medicine could really change my life. Thoughts?
I never invite my own parents to anything unless it’s mandatory, for example, tomorrow at school I’m having an honor roll assembly with the older kids, I hadn’t told my dad about it mainly because I never wanted him to come. I’d be okay if my mom tagged along, both not really at the same time.
I just never want to deal with anything they have to throw and criticize as soon as we get there, I once got scolded for this after not telling them about a writers competition at school that I attended myself and told my dad he wouldn’t have to come.
My mom thinks I’m avoiding them and has made sure to know of any events at school, in fact, the event I’m attending tomorrow my Dad is tagging along, at first I was excited to go because I wouldn’t have to wear the same uncomfortable school uniform, and I’d get to wear a nice dress.
Now that my Dad is coming along, I’m not so excited anymore, because then that means I’ll be subjected to relentless criticism and insults as soon as we get to the school, like any other place we’ve been to together.
I have to go home and deal with their verbal torture and nonstop resentment towards me, it’s hard to maintain an act and be in a good mood at school after my mom just yelled at me and called me a useless child that morning.
Yet besides all that I still have managed to make friends and know others well, be pretty sociable and get reasonable grades, top of my class also, How could I have possibly achieved all this?
By separating a barrier between myself at home and at school. And I think I’ve done a pretty great job at not letting my home rendezvous affect my school experiences.
But when the same people who that barrier has been made for start to step out of bounds and trespass, that’s when it becomes a problem I don’t like to deal with.
Luckily it’s a closer ride to my sweet 18th, not 16 because then I’d still be treated as a kid, I’m surprised at how the emotional abuse hasn’t bitten me as much, aside from a few insecurities and minor people pleasing with doubts, that included never standing up for myself.
But I’ve learned and grown out of their perils, just like I’ve told myself since 6 years old, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.
Sorry if there is anything misspelled. I know people have bigger problems it’s just I really need opinions. I come from a religion where it’s the biggest sin. My mom and dad have separated when I was two, my mom and dad both remarried. Both step parents are awesome and really loving. I got a older brother from my step mom, he was two years older then me. I know when parents saw don’t be a snitch after I went to fourth grade I realized that they going to keep saying it and I guess he saw it as a opportunity. Now that we’re older he doesn’t bother me as much but when he does it is annoying. My dad and step mom had two kids together, the first one had down syndrome he is actually ok he is pretty much quiet. And the littlest one is so hard he won’t listen any more I know he is going through that age but it gets me so much anxiety. When I turned 9 or 10 I started to worry about my weight and I always over think. Last year I got diagnosed with type one diabetes which really took a toll on me and my family. I have two other siblings which are twins who are a girl and boy, and my little brother has anger issues, he is so out of hand yesterday he said he wished I was dead, he is seven years old but it still stung. I love my brother deeply but he is so out of hand. I love my family very much I feel I am not the perfect daughter and sister. So I try not to yell and cry, I have am ok stoping to yell but I got better at crying so now I only cry every few months. But please send tips on what to do.
I grew up in a typical family. It was happy at first, but when I entered 6th grade, I think, my mom started cheating with someone from our new neighbor. They had a kid, and we were actually all girls then she gave birth to a healthy young boy. My dad, being a martyr, accepted my mom and my brother (they are just as close). I don't know, it's been almost 8 years. But my mom is still seeing the guy (I do think my dad knows about it he is just too in love?).
I'm actually living apart from my family now since I study at a university. I am renting an apartment to stay at. Anyway, I haven't seen the guy (my brother's dad) for years since I set my boundary, and I think it's still unfair to my dad. I don't want to be involved in anything, even though I already am since I am part of the family. These past 2 months, my mom brings the guy to the rented apartment. I am not comfortable seeing them together since I am close to my dad and I know it's wrong. What should I do? Sorry for a bit messy story.
So I'll preface this by saying my mom raised my sis(32f) and I(28f) by herself. My sister has a thing where she always needs to help, I've told her she has a thing for down on their luck men but she doesn't see it. I have my issues but this is not about me rn. So although we are religious we aren't crazy religious, but my mom was clear about being a parent before she is a friend growing up. As adults she's much more a friend and as such, although she does tell us her opinions she lets us make our mistakes even if she has to say I told you so while helping clean the mess up. When I finished school I moved down to where my mom was taking care of her grand mother my great grand to help out. While I knew my sis was sneaking around about something I didn't really think much of it. This would have been about two or three years ago, it didn't become obvious until after I moved and she was left alone. I'd visit here and there and realize she was spending much more time away from home until she said she was dating a guy who livednot far away. My mom dislike him what seemed immediately but I tried giving him a chance and convinced my mom as such. After a while my sister's actions became more obvious, I would still pop in by the house and spend the night or a couple days and I toiced she started spending the night out even when she said she'd be home later. She didn't ask me to lie but there was a distinct 'don't let mom know' vibe.again religious household, we weren't allowed to sleep over at men's homes like that. We could spend a night by a male family friend but often sleeping there is a big no no. So I'd deflect when I was visiting and our mom called and asked about her and why she wasn't answering her phone. As time passed I slowly began disliking her bf and his family and the fact that I noticed on my visits that the house felt less lived in. Her bf and his family is all about public opinion and just shy of showing off. Everything has to be big and grand and a spectacle, I noticed her bf would at times be flippant about her opinions and belongings. He'd even makes insensitive remark, ill also mention here that my sister has her degree and a well paying job while I don't think he has his and he is self employed with irregular work. My sister would often jump in to help him organize his business but to him the business is his and she has nothing to do with it. So even if she handles the admin stuff and organize his money records and makes calls, all profit is his and she has nothing to get from it. Gradually she began staying at his house that his parents live in along with his siblings, it's a large enough house that they could all live there in comfort since his parents had nice jobs and they built a house to match. My sister eventually got pregnant for him, which wasn't surprising because she'd been sleeping in his room more than her own bed at home, a male family friend called it even before she was pregnant that they were banging. Muchless my mom wasn't happy but there wasn't much you can do after the fact. My mom and I did our best supporting her and she practically moved in with him. Our house needs repairs and while she was pregnant I tried encouraging her to fix what she could before the baby came, like the best part of the house. She didn't, and even while pregnant she did stuff he should have been doing like picking up heavy objects and taking care of his animals.muchless he Lost points in my eyes, I threw her a babyshower which my mom funded and his family brought the drinks and he tried getting us to hold it by his home even though we planned it. The baby came via c-section and she came home to us to recover, and while his mom and one sister visited he jokingly mentioned how my sister has to lose weight. Eventually he kept bugging her to come to his house that was and hour away and she kept telling him she couldn't make the journey just yet because of her stitches. Eventually she gave in to his nagging and I drove her up, when it came to the christening because he is a different denomination of Christian he insisted their child be dedicated under his, all of this was after he announced the child's name without getting her approval and fussing about the one name she wanted to give while he gave two names. Only his Godparents were able to stand up because my sister's picks were not of the denomination the christening was taking place under. The brunch they(the guy) instead on was cooked by my mom and me and the after party food was done by his side, although my sister did tell him to order a certain amount of a type of dish that he didn't do because his mom said not to, they later ran out of the item. He told my sister his mom knew better because she had more kids than our mom when my sister asked him to tell his mother not to do some stuff to their kid after she had already asked her and she disregarded her. His mother and sister looks after their kid while my sister goes to work and his mother bundles the baby up and leaves it in a hot room. Both his mother and sister began treating my sister badly and his mother has a diagnosis of early signs of memory loss which my sister has began attributing her bad treatment to which i called bull on. He doesn't allow her to take the kid to funerals and once said something insensitive about the death of my sister's friend's mom, this rules does not apply to his family funerals. When my sister told him to let his sister travel because shed be late to pick me and my mom up after he'd made us late previously for something similar for a pre planned and paid church brunch he told her that we should learn to travel although my mom and I both travel 90% of the time and it wasn't the first time he had made them/heUS late. Later my sister and his mom and sister han a falling out one I told her was going to happen and she didnt listen to after his mom began acting like her kids was her own after she had it and he was carrying their kid for his mom while she was left alone and was asked to send/provide the milk, they made her postpartum worst than it should have been. Both my mom and I told her to move back to the house which she did for a couple days before she was right back sleeping at his place. He regularly makes in my opinion insensitive remarks and everything must be his way from what I've noticed. I've also noticed it's difficult for her to move back home, the first time he stayed the house with strong pesticide so she couldn't stay, attempt Number 2 her car was hit(not really his fault) but he was park badly, and the most recent attempt at organizing to go home, her car was stolen and scrapped (he had nothing to do with the stealing) aitah if I get feup with her and his bull and the fact that I've secretly begun hoping they breakup and encourage it in small ways? Are both my mom and I wrong for disliking him as much as we do? There are other things he's has done that makes me dislike them being together no to mention he keeps his family stuff away from her and has flat out practically told her his family business has nothing to do with her.
Originally my admin said id be moving to 2nd grade next year. Today as we met to sign EOY paperwork I was informed/told to consider moving to 3rd.
If I move to 2nd Id likely move again the following year. Generally not opposed to it but I feel like its a big leap from 4th to 2nd.
If I move to 3rd, Id pretty much stay there until I retire as theres always set amount of 3rd grades.
Im going into year 6 with my doctorate. Gen Ed K-6 cert. Experience in 4th and 5th contracted. Experience SPED preK- Post secondary SPED.

//- EXECUTIVE NOTES //-
- I am using a TEW 2016 data converted to TEW 2020, it has a lot of issues mainly around personality attributes, everyone - even the most godly person seems to have a hard drug issue or cause issues. This really impacted the moral (0%) and therefore hurt my initial shows. I'm not a fan of playing around with data during a save but it was required to make it playable.
- Despite slashing the wage bill with $700k in terminations, and signing replacements on per show deals my basic wage has not changed dramatically, only about $100k.
- One unintended consequence of slashing the wage bill has been a massive reduction in Merchandise. I'm making $750k less than my first month. While my live event merchandise sales have increased, I'm $775k down on worker sales.
- As one of the few that did watch WCW in 2000, I am surprised you start as small (made even harder by being based South West). Also Hogan was still under contract with WCW until 2002 (just sitting at home), on this data he starts unemployed. Having said that, if he was on your wage bill the challenge would be even harder.
So I'm in grade 11 taking a grade 12 course and I've just now started to realize that I don't think I can do it anymore. The first 3 units were ok and I think my midterm is really good but the last 3 units everything just got progressively worse. I don't need this class for graduation or university. Will dropping it right now affect uni admissions/make me a less competitive applicant? Pls help
It will be my first time. And i really really wanna do good. I want to use my O level grades rather than my upcoming A level grades so i feel like this is my only shot ngl.
After May 23 i'm free. I either wanna get into some engineering degree or cybersec.
Please if someone could guide me on how I should study for Net in a short amount of time that'll be great. My mental maths is weak, how should i improve that?
Thanks.
