2024.05.29 05:53 RJSmithay Couch co-op by using same account on Series X and One?

I wanted to show a friend the game while we were hanging out and realized it was not local co-op. So the thought occurred to me what if I booted up the game on both consoles on two separate TV's like the old LAN days? The only hang up I could see being an issue is that I would be using the same xbox live account on both consoles. So has anyone tried this? Asking before I try to find my old console in storage.

2024.05.29 05:50 SirLewisHamilton44 I am trying to build a pc for roughly 1000-1200 dollars

>Is this a brand new build, or an upgrade to an existing build?
brand new
>Please list any existing parts or monitor(s) you have that you would like to re-use with this build. For upgrades, a PCPartPicker list of your full build is extremely helpful. Be as specific as you can be here, including links or exact model numbers of each component whenever possible.
none
>What will this PC be used for? Examples include things like gaming, general/multimedia use, photo/video editing, coding, AI/ML, etc. Include specific games and applications you intend to run, and any particular performance goals you have, as each may have different specific hardware needs.
gaming(assetto corsa/trackmania/minecraft & more eventually), school projects
>What country will you be purchasing in? If you are in the US, do you live near a Micro Center? For other countries, please check if your country is supported by PCPartPicker by using the country selector dropdown on the top right - if not, please provide some links to reliable local vendors you are comfortable ordering from.
USA, no micro center
>Do you need one or more monitors included in the budget? Please list how many and any size/resolution/refresh rate preferences if needed.
1 monitor, no preference just want it to run good
>What is your preferred and maximum budget range for this build, in local currency? Parts lists may sometimes have additional shipping costs. Please note whether prices in your country include sales tax or not, and adjust your budget accordingly. Typically VAT countries will have it included in the part list prices, whereas regular sales tax countries like the US and Canada will not.
ideal is under 1.2k USD
>Do you need WiFi, or do you have a wired ethernet connection available?
i need wifi
>Do you have any specific size or noise requirements for the build?
no size/noise
>Do you have any aesthetic preferences for color or lighting? Describe what you're looking for, or feel free to provide some links to examples that may help. Some people prefer an inobtrusive stealth build, while others may prefer a case full of rainbow RGB.
prefer all black with little rgb
>Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.
none
I will follow the instructions

2024.05.29 05:49 Haunted_Pixel PC version no longer recognizing controller input

I've been playing through the game on Steam Deck for a while, but I took a break for a bit. I've since decided to come back, but now the game only recognizes PC inputs, and if I switch to PC controls, I can't even access the xbox 360 controller input.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the silent patch, since I have that installed.

2024.05.29 05:48 Beginning_Wrap_8732 Problems with booster charge and MeatNet

I’ve really enjoyed using my three CPTs with boosters and display to smoke briskets and pork butts, roast chickens and roast the Thanksgiving turkey. It’s an incredibly useful, well-designed and well-built family of products.
Except for two things: lack of charge indication and reliability of MeatNet.
Chris has explained that a special chip would be required in order for the CPT to report its charge state, and it isn’t compatible with high heat environments. I can live with that. So far, I haven’t had an instance of a CPT running out of charge during long cooks going well over 12 hours. But when I asked why the booster doesn’t have charge indication, Chris said it just didn’t make the cut for the first generation of hardware. OK, but this weekend my overnight Memorial Day cook was nearly ruined due to lack of information about booster charge, and maybe a problem with MeatNet.
Here’s what happened:
I smoked a brisket point and flat, separated, with CPTs in each cut. Before the cook, I pressed the button on each CPT’s booster and got a green light, so I knew the probes were fully charged. The meat went in my Kamado Joe ceramic grill, and I put a booster on a cabinet about six feet away. I put the other booster on a table indoors about 40 feet away. I took the display and my iPhone to the bedroom, about 40 feet from the second booster. I set the iPhone to Never Lock and brought up the CPT app so I wouldn’t miss the prediction alarms (learned to do that the hard way.) I set the CPT predictions to 180F to catch the end of the stall, at which time I’d think about wrapping. One of the CPTs set off an alarm at 180F. I decided not to wrap, and reset the predictions on both CPTs to 200F, at which time I‘d wait until they hit 203F and remove the cuts for a long hold.
The alarms never went off. Luckily, I happened to awake in time to see in the app that both cuts had reached and slightly exceeded the target temp. But both CPTs were not connected, and the display was showing they weren’t connected. I rushed to the smoker with a ThermoPen and was relieved to find that the two cuts weren’t far over the target temp of 203. One was at 205F and the other was at 208F. The texture of the cuts was good (wabba wabba) and a ThermoPen showed temps weren’t too far over target over most of the meat. I took the meat off for a long hold.
What happened? It didn’t take long to discover that both boosters had run out of charge. Given the last temps shown by the app, I guess I was lucky to awake shortly after the boosters ran out of charge. I’m puzzled why display and/or iPhone didn’t directly connect to the CPTs in the ceramic cooker when the boosters ran out of charge. The total distance was less than 75 feet. Is it necessary to have a MeatNet relay close to the CPTs? I’ve been doing that, but I thought the range was better. Is the distance significantly reduced when the CPTs are inside a ceramic grill? If this is the case, I think I should put the display, which has a much larger battery, near the ceramic grill so the iPhone can stay connected anywhere in the house.
So, why did the boosters run out of charge? The last time I can be sure I charged the boosters was about month before, after smoking a pork butt. I did one cook after that, a roast chicken last week. At the time, I pressed the buttons on all three boosters. Two lit up green, and one didn’t light up at all. I put the CPT in one of the other boosters and it showed green, so it looked like the CPT was charged but, unlike the other two boosters, its booster had run out of charge. Seemed like that shouldn’t have happened in 2-3 weeks without using the CPT. In fact, I had seen this once before, but I didn’t mark the booster that had run out of charge earlier than expected. So I charged up the one that had run out and left it on my desk with a different CPT to see if it would happen again (I wanted to rule out a problem with the CPT.) When it came time to do the brisket cook on Memorial Day, the booster in question showed green when I pushed the button, which meant the CPT was still charged. Of course, that didn’t tell me what state the booster battery was in, but I had to get on with the cook so I aborted that experiment. I thought I had charged the boosters after the roast chicken cook, but maybe it was only the booster I was testing.
It’s possible I have one booster that can’t hold a charge, but it’s also possible that all three of my boosters have problems holding charge. It’s also possible I have one or more CPTs that draw power from the booster too often. After all, my CPTs and my boosters are early production models. I need to do some careful experiments to figure this in out, and the lack of any charge indication for the CPTs and boosters is going to make that very difficult. One idea I had is to use a USB dongle I have that reports mAh delivered. That might give me some info by showing how much charge a given booster can take.
I’d appreciate any advice for setting up experiments to determine if I have bad boosters and/or CPTs.
Beyond that, I hope Combustion will consider a Gen 2 booster with charge indication (fine if it’s in the app.) I will probably replace my boosters if that happens (though a trade-in deal for early adopters would be nice.)
Recently, someone posted about Combustion offering a charging dock for CPTs. After this weekend, that idea appeals to me, too. The ability of the boosters to keep the CPTs charged would be superfluous (the plain charger would do), but it would still be worthwhile for keeping the boosters charged for use in MeatNet.
The other problem I’ve had is frequent disconnects. It’s worst in my Breville Combi Wave oven, but I’ve chalked that up to the amount of metal between the CPTs and boosters, and maybe noise generated by the Combi Wave electronics. The CPTs do reconnect eventually, but sometimes it can take several minutes. I can get through a roast chicken cook (oven, not microwave), but the disconnects are annoying. Most of the time I don’t get lots of disconnects when using CPTs in the ceramic cooker. They can go hours without disconnecting. But I do get them. The CPTs eventually reconnect, but it‘s annoying. Perhaps this happened as the boosters charges were winding down to zero.
Oh, one more issue: After setting a prediction, sometimes I couldn‘t get back in to change clear the prediction. When I tapped the prediction section, it would display the food safe page. Then, sometime later, I could tap the section and change or clear the prediction.

2024.05.29 05:47 Minute-Masterpiece98 CMV: Google Reviews is a far less useful than it used to be, for both consumers and businesses alike.

Back in the day, when Google Maps and Google reviews first became a thing, I relied on them quite a bit. It was an easy way to get an idea of how a particular product or service was doing.
Over the last few years however, I’ve increasingly noticed how useless the platform has become.
Whenever I do research on dentists or physiotherapists for example, nearly all of them have hundreds of only 5 stars, with commentary so generic it may as well have been generated by A.I.
None of it is believable anymore and when you do want to leave honest, constructive feedback, it either gets blocked from public view or removed by businesses trying to keep their score artificially high.
On the other side of the coin, businesses that are legitimate can end up receiving unwarranted, fake or bot reviews that Google fails to remove, despite going through the usual channels to resolve it.
Just seems to me that a once useful tool is now failing everyone and reminds me of the crazy world of censorship that we all live in.

2024.05.29 05:46 r0tten_cl4wz are my inlaws going too far?? im at my wits end.

(long story) this is a throwout because im anxious and dont know what else to do / have no one to talk to this about. im 19 and i live with my bf (20) in his parents house. he rents his room and pays a fair share of the bills (his choice / his parents dont expect him to pay anything). i moved in after my mom and i got into a fight and she basically kicked me out (she has done this before). i cannot live at my fathers after multiple assaults and threats on my life, my grandparents are enablers to my moms extremely hazardous/drunken abusive behavior, and no other family live in state. i moved into their house after he talked to his parents and they both agreed (his dad had an extremely abusive household like mine so he sympathized). its been alright so far (ive been here for 4 months) with minimal issues until it started a few months ago. in march i recently miscarried and it made everything really… awkward? his mom started to make comments to her husband to which he relayed to my bf about us sleeping in the same bed together and even went as far as to push us to get engaged and married multiple times / for him to sleep on the couch out of the room he pays for. she states she feels awkward and uncomfortable around ME because of us sleeping in the same room + im a stranger to her (shes one of those older generation that believes are owed a convo about ever detail of their lives + she is extremely gossipy about other people in a rude way) (she did apologize only to my bfs face about the MC and went out and bought some snacks as a silent apology for us + wished me a happy mothers day with some hesitation.) i dont really know how to handle it anymore. i dont have anywhere to go, i cant sleep in my car because im pregnant again but havent told anyone except my bf. we both came to the conclusion that we are moving out ASAP. we were close to renting a home but got backtracked because of the surprise MC in march. afterwards i started to spiral and my mental health hasnt been so good, a couple months afterwards a mentoparental figure passed away from a LOT of cance going into hospice, no one told me about the funeral either, had to figure out myself.. anyways, shes mainly just brought my bf to talk to her and her husband under the guise of how hes performing at work and then starts ranting about ME to him for literal hours. he does put his foot down but is kind of a mediator to not cause any drama that would ultimately get us kicked out. her husband does not intervene with her lectures/ ‘talks’. he sits there and actually doesnt say a word. this isnt the first time for a push for marriage has happened (her reasoning us that shes religious and believes that a man and woman shouldn’t even live together without being married, but has told us to our faces, with me present, that she doesnt want us to go anywhere because she likes us there/ theres no pressure to leave and every time my bf shows her an apartment he found she tries to talk him out of it) they also say that my bf barely spends time with his parents anymore and hints its because of me locking him away from them. i do not want to be here, i never did, i strongly advocated of not staying there because i knew it would cause issues since theyre pentecostal.. i do not agree with their religious views at all and have no issue with people being religious but do not force it on me, especially when im at my wits end and trying not to stress me and my baby out more + literally am homeless. i dont want to sleep in a walmart parking lot while pregnant.. but i feel like this is my last resort because of the blatant two faced bullying im receiving. i cook for them once and a while (with my own money + spend my own money buying them groceries because apparently 200 dollars my bf gives them isnt enough to feed anyone), i drive people around to work (sometimes as early as 4 in the morning and immediately get up at 4 in the evening to pick people up and no i dont get paid for the gas i do it for kindness/to help), i get zero sleep (mostly 4 hours and under right now) because her husband sleeps in the living room mostly and has absolutely maddening alarms (tornado siren) that go off between 2 am and 8 am (if he doesnt wake up to stop them) + no one lets me sleep in the ‘afternoon’ they call it (its 9-12 am) and have irritated my dog to bark at nothing at even 7 in the morning on weekends. ive been nice, ive been lenient but i cannot be nice to them (which they complain im so weird because i dont talk to them and am not buddy buddy with them for some sTrAnGe reason /sarc). please help me, i genuinely have no idea what to do and am on the verge of just walking into a river /sarc.

2024.05.29 05:43 HaloCS Want to slowly start transitioning from IT to SWE/SDP, need some advice - Completed Undergrad BS Cybersecurity and now in AI/ML graduate program

I'm currently working in a hospital's IT department under a "System Access" team as an analyst. The job duties are what I consider to be very simple, just requires some knowledge of knowing what certain basic things are and how to use them such as working with Active Directory, leveraging a Identity Governance tool to grant access, and understanding of a little bit of lots of different applications such as Epic. But there is no coding/programming involved. Over some time I've started to realize that the people in my team or in the company have been here for 7+ years and they rarely open positions. I've tried to bring up that I was interested in collaborating with the only app developer on the team or maybe even some form of automation (planning to learn on the fly since they were already looking to use UiPath for some tasks), but it just goes out the window, specially since most managers/directors might be retiring in the next couple of years they don't really care that much or want more work on their shoulders.
I thought it would more than likely be accepted given that I've already been able to do most of the "senior" level employees tasks since they're not interested in working outside of their oldschool techniques, and didn't even ask for a promotion or raise, but I guess not. So after 3 years and still being an "Associate" making 1/3 of what the rest of the team makes so I'm getting somewhat demotivated.
When I received this position I was in the process of completing my B.S. in Cybersecurity. I completed it last year and this year I began my M.S. in CS with a concentration in AI/ML this year. I realized near the end of my B.S. that I enjoyed programming more so I started working on The Odin Project to get more knowledge in J.S./NodeJS/DBs/HTML/CSS and eventually work on some personal projects as a hobby to build my skill, but the Masters program is pretty intensive and during my undergrad I didn't dig too deep into programming, more very basic/entry level coursework in C#/C++/Java/Python.
Reflecting on everything brought me some questions and I thought I'd reach out to see if someone can give some guidance.
  1. Should I still try to pickup The Odin Project "bootcamp" for Fullstack JS/JSNode again? But instead do it very slowly since my Masters program is taking up most of the time? Or just focus solely on the course knowledge?
  2. Seeing other threads, I'm assuming that it might not be the best time to transition to a SWE or SDP job? I see mixed comments but mostly negative about the field at the moment.
  3. If I do plan on slowly transitioning to a different company for a job, are there any known positions/titles, or indicators to look into that might make the job/company seem stable? Not really in a good financial position with my current salary to get laid off after a couple of months. (making around 45k before taxes at the moment, and live in a high cost city, moving soon if a new job permits it because in healthcare remote is a bit difficult)
  4. Should I be dedicating more time into leet code as it'll be for sure required if I were to transition? I roughly looked into it and realized I wasn't even able to answecomplete the easy ones.
  5. Are city/government positions that involve AI/ML or even JS-related descriptions good to move to gain experience and knowledge while studying? If so, what are some recommended departments or agencies?
Overall, I do feel like if someone seems my history/resume it might be a bit all over the place given I'm looking to go from Cybersecurity to some Junior Developer position to then AI/ML? But I'm just thinking of the smoothest way to transition while also being able to have a stable job and be good financially.

2024.05.29 05:36 Late-Studio-2274 Help Understanding Numbers (EP Cube)

Help Understanding Numbers (EP Cube)
Hello Guys;
Big noob here. I'm missing 13kwh whenever I do the following math. I want to know why..
Solar PV (DC Coupled) Generated a total of 55kwh for the whole day.
It then exported 37 kwh to the local power company throught the day. (Luma Energy, I live in Puerto Rico)
Which means that I now have an 18kwh balance after subtracting 55-37 = 18
House then consumed 40kwh but pulled 35kwh from the grid, which means that the PV fed 5kwh in power during the day.
So 18-5 = 13, which still leaves me with 13 kwh that didn't get Exported nor did they got utilized by the Home. Charging the battery bank was also not done since the system current mode is backup and battery bank is already at 99%...
Why does this happens and where did those 13 kwh went?
My solar engineer is claiming dc to ac conversion losses but 13kwh from 55kwh is 25% which seems rather outrageous to me that my system as a whole have a 25% "loss"..
Is there any explanation out there that can make sense of this??

2024.05.29 05:32 therealjgreens Fire panel goes off nightly at my apartment. Need some advice.

Hi there. I've been living in my apartment for over a year now. Just like any complex, they sell the idea of living there to you but it's up to the tenant to ask the right questions. It's a decently nice place.
I live on the end of one of the sides of the building. There is a fire panel attached to the wall outsid of my apartment door. I don't know the exact number of times, but it has woken me up 60+ nights in the middle of the night.
It wasn't a big deal at first, but the panel kept tripping and going off all the time. During the day and at night. They told me the panel goes off when someone pulls batteries out of their detector or turns it off.
I explained to them what was happening and they promised they'd fix it, but they didn't. It's still an ongoing issue that I deal with daily. I had to wake up at 4am to disarm the alarm because it was going off. They gave me the silence code which seems really sketchy. Like what happens if there is actually a fire?
Several months ago, a new ownership company purchased the property. It took a bit of time for them to adjust but it's business as usual at this point.
Guess what? The alarm continues to go off all the time despite me now taking to the new management folks. I just silenced the alarm because I was about to go to sleep and I heard it ringing.
I simply need advice for handling this situation? My consistent complaining has got me no where. I've talked to other tenants and it appears that several folks have issues with the overall quality of the place. I need them to fix this panel completely because I can't afford to lose any more sleep. Since talkong to management has gotten me nowhere, should I try and contact the ownership group?

2024.05.29 05:31 Sprinklessuck Should I leave my 4th generation family farm to pursue engineering?

Hi all, I've never posted on this sub let alone reddit before but I'm constantly on here reading others posts and I’d like a diverse perspective about my situation and what others would do in my position. I'm also posting in some other subs to see if opinions change based on the demographic. That being said, let's get into this story.
First I(26) want to say that I'm very close to both my dad(late 60’s) and grandfather(early 90’s). They both have spent their lives farming. When they were my age they would farm in the summer and drive trucks and log in the winter. I have spent my summers farming with them and winters I’ve worked different jobs including construction, plumbing and more recently I got a degree in machining. Though that didn't last long as both my boss and the in-house engineers all said I was too smart to be machining and should go back to school for engineering. I took this to heart and started going to school for civil engineering as I feel it would bring the most satisfaction in terms of work product and the added flexibility of where I want to live and work. I’ve been going to a local community college for the last two years which has allowed me to continue helping on the farm whenever needed. This coming semester I will have to leave for a university about 4 hours away meaning I won't be able to help on the farm. I'm very blessed in that both my dad and grandfather are very supportive of me going into engineering and have even offered money to help with school but luckily though part time work and scholarships I haven’t needed to accept it.
Here's my dilemma, even though they are very supportive I can't stop myself from feeling guilty for leaving the farm and leaving my almost 70 year old dad and 90 year old grandfather to continue farming by themselves. They’ve been able to manage it before, like last summer when I had an internship and only was able to help 3-4 hours in the evenings, but they barely seemed to get all the work done. Seeing my grandfather work in the field from 8am to 9pm during the summer just doesn't seem fair while I sit in an office job. A side note my grandfather is an amazing self taught welder that still does most of our welding unless it's in a more awkward spot he can't get to, in which case he basically coaches me through the process. My grandfather will never retire, he even told me when I asked that if he retired he might as well just die because what else would he do. My father is the same way and would never want to sell the business or land which is something I also would never want to do. I feel bad letting multiple generations or experience and time in a business disappear so I can go do something I would like to do. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy farming. I just see more stability in having a more stable 9-5 job with health insurance and paid time off.
This dilemma is not new to me, it's been in my head eversense since highschool. When the guidance counselors would ask me what I wanted to do after school I always had ideas of things I’d really enjoy but always felt somewhat obligated to stay and work the family farm. Especially because I’m an only child and the only relative that could feasibly take over the farm. The farm is also not a corporation that could afford to hire someone and give benefits like health insurance and a 401k which seems like the minimum to be able to hire someone outside of family. It's not a new dilemma but recently it's really started to get to me with the moving further away from home and my father having to go to the ER twice this month from hurting his wrist falling out of a tractor and another health issue that required surgery. It just really makes me realize that he is getting older and could use more help around the farm. Though he fully supports me, he has asked before if something did happen to him if I would take over the farm and continue the business. I told him yes and do fully believe I would, which makes me question why I wouldn’t be trying to learn as much from him now as possible so when the day comes he does pass away I’m more prepared to take over.
Here's my question for all of you, what would you do in my situation? Or has anyone known someone in a similar situation and how did they go about things? I've considered going back to machining because I think it would be a more useful skill on the farm and then taking some welding classes at the community college. But I’ve also thought about finishing engineering and seeing if it would be possible to work full time in the winter and part time or take summers off to farm. I know the latter part is very unlikely but I wanted to see if anyone has seen a similar set up with their work before.
I also wanted to add that even though the farm doesn't make enough to hire someone full time, if I stayed and farmed I would be able to make a comfortable income as I would have a percent ownership in the business. Especially if I was able to work somewhere else during the winter to supplement it.

2024.05.29 05:31 lifeboundd Is it better to move to Japan with more liquid assets or does having a property overseas generating income help?

Really obscure question I know, but I'm on a medium term plan to move to Japan in the next 2-3 years with my company and it can be indefinite if I decide I just love it there (I've been several times and it checks all my lifestyle boxes).
Being said I found a condo well within my means in my current city and figured I could finally have some sort of property asset to live in while I'm in the states, just planning ahead but I'd like to kinda figure out what I'm going to do with it if/when I end up moving. I can probably generate around 800-1200 a month in income from it or I could sell it for at least what I bought it for and go to Japan a "wealthy" man... relatively speaking lol.
Just looking for anecdotal thoughts tbh.

2024.05.29 05:29 michellellamas Should I help my fiance financially even though my finances have been affected because of him

I (31 F) and my fiance (30 M) have been together for 11 years out of which we been living together for 9.5 years. For most of our relationship he has been the one making the most money and there were long periods of times where I was without a job and he supported us. I always showed my love and support by doing most of the house chores and attending to his needs to the point of even getting up at 5 am to make him breakfast and iron his shirts. And whenever I had any money I always gave it to him for bills. When I finally got a stable minimum wage job we started dividing the house bills but I kept doing most of the house chores. I would always save up as much as I could and he would always ask me to borrow the money for some stock or crypto coin he wanted to invest in. Most of the time all of that money was gone by the end of the month and he always got into debt trying to flip some money around dreaming of becoming rich with a click. For some reason he was always able to make money for his friends (one of his friends was able to buy a house thanks to him) but he just seemed to fail at making us money. That was until 2019, apparently in 2019 he was able to flip some crypto and had over 300,000 usd worth on crypto coins. He only had access to this coins on the only computer we owned. In 2020 I was talking some coding courses because I am sick and tired of working minimum wage jobs, but unfortunately I needed a computer as clases were all virtual so I had to use the only computer we owned. One of the courses required me to use a system that was not compatible with the computer system we had so I tried to update it and the computer crashed. We lost everything we had in the computer including the 300k.
After this incident I felt so guilty and I wanted to pay it back although I know on my minimum wage job I’ll never be able to. So my fiance had the great idea to create his own crypto project. To be honest I never believed in it but he was so pushy and guilt trip me into it so I ended up taking a 25k loan believing he would be able to repay it back as he swore and promised he knew what he was doing and he was gonna make us back that money and then some. I agreed and had no idea that he himself had also gotten himself on a 30k+ debt for this project.
So the project never worked out, some people invested but it was not even enough to pay promoters. For the past 3 years all of our money is been going to debts and we barely made an indent in it as the majority of the money goes to interest. I worked 2 jobs for 6 months and was only able to pay 1k of my debt. Had to quit one job because I was starting to get sick.
This year I had enough and I filed for consumer proposal. It’s only been a month and I already have 700 saved up. I feel such relief and I’m planning on getting a security license as the IT sector is overtaken by Indians and is a job in demand. My fiance also wants to do it but he wants me to pay for his as hi still has all the debt he got himself into and barely has any money for bills. Every time we have money disagreements he blames them on me as I was the one who broke the computer and he claims if he would of still had that money he would never had started the project (the project was his new idea of becoming rich ).
So now I just feel like I have gone through enough hardship for the 300k I “lost” him and I should only be responsible for paying half of the house bills. But at the same time I do love my fiance and feel the obligation to help him financially.

2024.05.29 05:28 MyDadLeftMeHere Greed Is a Killer of Joy

Today I’d like to talk about greed, see we can all agree that corporations by and large exist for the sole purpose of extracting your hard earned funds from your pretty little pockets in the sleaziest ways possible. In the worst scenarios as far as video games go, we have seen corporations leverage aggressive monetization schemes that closely mirror gambling in the form of loot boxes, or developers will lock significant content required to advance the game behind expensive paywalls.
Now, that being said, can we stop pretending that Multiversus is doing anything even remotely similar. Not only is there free access to premium currency, for both the cosmetic section, and the fighter section there was clearly a lot of work put into other aspects which are being neglected.
The Net-Code appears to be fixed, no more rubber-banding or getting hit early or late unless you’re the problem, and I say that as someone who lives in the literal middle of nowhere.
There’s start up lag and whiff lag which makes reads more viable, as well as the addition of parrying, so we see a lot more dynamic play potential with those additions. Punishing is consistent, and dodging doesn’t feel as oppressive or free as it did before which ultimately makes things feel more fair especially in terms of neutral play.
The slower pace isn’t a bad thing, I think once you’ve got a grasp on a character the movement starts to flow more naturally, and every character is equipped with ways to continue combos and chase enemies.
Some people are complaining about the zoom affecting their ability to see bars or keep projectiles like Jerry in sight. You shouldn’t be walking across the map with someone in Jason’s bag, or held in Jake’s stomach, you should have a clear idea of what’s next, and where your combo is going, hence my assertion that sometimes I don’t think the game is slow, instead it seems players are. As for Tom and Kamikaze Jerry players, from a technical standpoint, it doesn’t feel like you’re supposed to be launching Jerry across everything on the map, he plays close by design, and he’s great for shutting down enemies in the air, you’re missing your shots if he’s out of your line of sight. Imagine if you were playing the Ice Climbers by killing one every time, that’s dumb and it’s not the developers fault if you’re playing that way.
Then on top of all that, they added single player content that’s meant to give less competitive players something they can enjoy without feeling pressure. It’s got a story, mini-games that increase in difficulty as you progress, boss fights, unique interactions, and animated cutscenes, all of which give you more access to more stuff.
Moving along to less important more dope things,
The character models are all polished and look really good, there’s a lot of love that went into the design of these models and it shows. Jason fits the art style strangely well, and his kit is one of the most fun in the game to date while still staying thematically consistent with his source material. The Batman Who Laughs, and the Killing Joke skins are both really genuinely great, not to mention this will ostensibly be Mark Hamill’s last Joker performance in honor of Kevin Conroy. So, looking at those two facts alone, Player’s First took Jason from the terrible development hell he was in and brought him to his first appearance in a video game in years that doesn’t have to lamp-shade him, and they reunited two of the most iconic characters in comic book history voiced by arguably the most legitimate and well known people to portray said characters.
Dexter’s Lab is beautiful, and it plays like a dream, the moving map, and the changing hazards are a work of art. Townsville and MoJoJoJo are so much fun as well, and I haven’t heard anyone really mention any positive things about the tangible ways Player’s First listened to feedback and expanded on what was already a fun experience.
And they did all that, and they gave it to you for free, if you supported them in the beta, they’re essentially giving you a free character, free access to all future battle passes, and cosmetics which contribute to your prestige points so you can get more skins and cosmetics for free. And yet somehow people still consider them to be greedy because they’re not giving you 10% of the content which they clearly worked incredibly hard to produce.
We as gamers need to step back and look at ourselves because some of you are the most entitled insufferable people on the planet, and you’re going to kill what has the potential to be a genuinely great gaming experience because they wouldn’t give you exactly everything you wanted, just 97% of it.
TLDR: PFG did their jobs, and did well, most of you are what’s wrong with modern gaming.

The defense and the prosecution today made their closing statements in the New York criminal case against Trump for falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels. The payment was intended to stop her account of her sexual encounter with Trump from becoming public in the days before the 2016 election, when the Trump campaign was already reeling from the Access Hollywood tape showing Trump boasting of sexual assault.
The Biden-Harris campaign showed up at the trial today with veteran actor Robert DeNiro and former police officers Michael Fanone and Harry Dunn, who protected the U.S. Capitol and members of Congress from rioters on January 6, 2021. In words seemingly calculated to get under Trump’s skin, DeNiro said, “We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot,” and called him a coward.
When Robert Costa of CBS News asked campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler why they had shown up at the trial, Tyler answered: “Because you all are here. You’ve been incessantly covering this day in and day out, and we want to remind the American people ahead of the…first debate on June 27 of the unique, persistent, and growing threat that Donald Trump poses to the American people and to our democracy. So since you all are here, we’re here communicating that message.”
Yesterday, in remarks at Arlington National Cemetery in observance of Memorial Day, President Joe Biden honored “the sacrifice of the hundreds of thousands of women and men who’ve given their lives for this nation. Each one…a link in the chain of honor stretching back to our founding days. Each one bound by common commitment—not to a place, not to a person, not to a President, but to an idea unlike any idea in human history: the idea of the United States of America.”
“[F]reedom has never been guaranteed,” Biden said. “Every generation has to earn it; fight for it; defend it in battle between autocracy and democracy, between the greed of a few and the rights of many…. And just as our fallen heroes have kept the ultimate faith with our country and our democracy, we must keep faith with them,” he said.
His speech at Arlington echoed the message he delivered to this year’s graduating class at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he urged the graduates to hold fast to their oaths. “On your very first day at West Point, you raised your right hands and took an oath—not to a political party, not to a president, but to the Constitution of the United States of America—against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” he said to applause. Soldiers “have given their lives for that Constitution. They have fought to defend the freedoms that it protects: the right to vote, the right to worship, the right to raise your voice in protest. They have saved and sacrificed to ensure, as President Lincoln said, a ‘government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the Earth.’”
“[N]othing is guaranteed about our democracy in America. Every generation has an obligation to defend it, to protect it, to preserve it, to choose it,” he said. “Now, it’s your turn.” Biden spent more than an hour saluting and shaking the hand of each graduate.
In contrast, Trump ushered in Memorial Day with a post on his social media company, saying: “Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country, & to the Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York that presided over, get this, TWO separate trials, that awarded a woman, who I never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event, 25 years ago, doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for “DEFAMATION.” He then continued to attack E. Jean Carroll, the writer who successfully sued him for defamation, before turning to attack Judge Arthur Engoron, who presided over the civil case of Trump and the Trump Organization falsifying documents, and Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the current criminal case in New York.
The message behind this extraordinary post was twofold: Trump can think of nothing but himself…and he appears to be terrified.
On Saturday, May 25, Trump had an experience quite different from his usual reception at rallies of hand-picked supporters. He was resoundingly booed at the national convention of the Libertarian Party in Washington, D.C., where Secret Service agents confiscated squeaky rubber chickens before his speech. Attendees jeered Trump’s order, “You have to combine with us,” even when he reminded them of his libertarian credentials—tax cuts and defunding of federal equality programs—and promised to pardon the January 6 rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol.
Trump also promised to pardon Ross Ulbricht, who founded and from January 2011 to October 2013 ran an online criminal marketplace called Silk Road, where more than $200 million in illegal drugs and other illicit goods and services, such as computer hacking, were bought and sold. Most of the sales were of drugs, with the Silk Road home page listing nearly 13,000 options, including heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, and LSD. The wares were linked to at least six deaths from overdose around the world. In May 2015, Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison and was ordered to forfeit more than $180 million.
Libertarians want Ulbricht released because they support drug legalization on the grounds that people should be able to make their own choices and they see Ulbricht’s sentence as government overreach. Trump has repeatedly called for the death penalty for drug dealers, making his promise to pardon Ulbricht an illustration of just how badly he thinks he needs the support of Libertarian voters. But they refused to endorse him.
Trump appeared angry, and on Sunday, as Greg Sargent reported in The New Republic, he reposted a video of a man raging at MSNBC host Joe Scarborough. In it, the man says that when Trump is reelected: “He’ll get rid of all you f*cking liberals. You liberals are gone when he f*cking wins. You f*cking blowjob liberals are done. Uncle Donnie’s gonna take this election—landslide. Landslide, you f*cking half a blowjob. Landslide. Get the f*ck out of here, you scumbag.”
Trump’s elevation of this video, Sargent notes, is a dangerous escalation of his already violent rhetoric, and yet it has gotten very little media attention.
Last November, Matt Gertz of Media Matters reported that ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News provided 18 times more coverage of 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s comment at a fundraising event that “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables” who are “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic,” than they provided of Trump’s November 2023 promise to “root out the communist, Marxist, fascist and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.”
CNN, the Fox News Channel, and MSNBC mentioned the “deplorables” comment nearly 9 times more than Trump’s “vermin” language. The ratio for the five highest-circulating U.S. newspapers was 29:1.
Clinton’s statement was consistent with polling, and she added that the rest of Trump’s supporters were “people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change.” She said: “Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.”
Sargent noted that news stories require context and that Trump’s elevation of the violent video should be placed alongside his many threats to prosecute his enemies. While there is often concern over disrespect toward right-wing voters, Sargent writes, there has been very little attention to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s posting of “a video that declares a large ideological subgroup of Americans ‘done’ and ‘gone’ if he is elected.”
Scott MacFarlane of CBS News reported yesterday that Republicans have ignored a law passed in March 2022 requiring the placement of a small plaque honoring police officers who protected the U.S. Capitol and the lawmakers and staffers there on January 6, 2021. It was supposed to be in place by March 2023 but has not gone up. A spokesperson for House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) says his office is working on it. Kayla Tausche of CNN reported today that three of the police officers at the Capitol that day—Sergeant Aquilino Gonell and Officer Harry Dunn, both retired, and Officer Daniel Hodges, who is still with the Washington, D.C., metropolitan police—will be traveling to swing states for the Biden campaign to tell voters that Trump threatens Americans’ fundamental rights.
Finally, today, Melinda French Gates, co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, announced $1 billion in new spending over the next two years “for people and organizations working on behalf of women and families around the world, including on reproductive rights in the United States.” Only 2% of charitable giving in the U.S. goes to these organizations, she wrote the New York Times, and “[f]or too long, a lack of money has forced organizations fighting for women's rights into a defensive posture while the enemies of progress play offense. I want to help even the match.”

2024.05.29 05:19 PooPooPointBoiz I'm tired of this game called life dude

I'm so fucking tired. No matter how hard I try I never can improve my situation.
These days if you're not a social butterfly that can sell, a programming wizard, or a cut throat business owner, or a combo of all of the above, you're fucked.
I graduated college, I finally landed a job that uses my degree, I work full time. And what did that get me? A life of living in an apartment, no pets, no children, no money for hobbies, nothing.
I pretty much just work, play some xbox (that I bought used for 100 bucks), sleep, and wait for the weekend to maybe go fishing or something.
During the week I work and do deliveries like door dash to make a few extra bucks. But it doesn't really make a difference in the end.
I deliver to some pretty fucking high end houses. I just delivered to a 1.8mil house in the woods on the expensive side of town. And I just wonder, what the fuck do they do to afford that.
I'm tired man. I have health issues. My friends have drifted apart from me and moved away. I don't have my childhood dog anymore.
Really the only thing keeping me here are my parents, but once they're gone I'm checking the fuck out.
There is no reward for hard work, I can't buy a house, probably ever. I can't retire. I can't afford to retire and probably never will.
I know my strengths and weaknesses and I can only work within those bounds, and I know that the world just doesn't give a fuck about someone like me with my talents, no one will ever pay me good money for my abilities. I'm forever going to live in an apartment (if I'm lucky) and that's all I have to look forward to in life. I can't even get a pet because my place doesn't allow them.
What the fuck is the point man.

2024.05.29 05:19 00crashtest Where can I see black oaks in Sac metro?

In many horticulture publications, the California black oak (Quercus kelloggii), along with other tree species native to the hot, dry, low-humidity interior of California, is often recommended as a water-wise option for providing shade, beauty, and habitat for wildlife. However, according to Calscape, Calflora, and iNaturalist, there are extremely few, if any, documented Q. kelloggii trees in the Sacramento urban area. This is totally unlike other native oak species, such as valley, interior live, and blue oaks, where they are so abundant that multiple examples are listed in every ZIP code. Those are so abundant that they are found on most streets.
It is understandable why there are virtually no specific black oak locations listed on the map in Sacramento, east Yolo, and south Placer Counties. That is because they are uncommon in low elevations such as the Central Valley and that the vast majority of individual trees are not documented. So, where specifically in Sacramento County can I find California black oak trees growing?

2024.05.29 05:18 larrubcarran2815 AITA for refusing to continue a friendship/consider this person a friend, when they still think I do call them a friend? Tbh, this might just be a “Best Kind of Petty Revenge” story. Lmk!

Let me give some backstory because there were 3 main “events” that led me to eventually ghosting this person. (Please forgive me, this may end up a little lengthy. Also, this wasn’t written as well as the first draft but that one got deleted)
Event #1: In high school, there were 4 of us that were really close. We will call them each, Diana, Julia, and Jack. Julia worshiped Diana. Diana could do no wrong in Julia’s eyes. Diana and Jack were a couple. They dated the majority of high school. All the way up to the summer before our senior year. Obviously, it was hard on the couple, but it was also difficult for ALL of their friends because we were expected to pick a side. Julia took Diana’s side, no questions and no doubts. It felt like I was the only one that wanted to remain neutral because I considered both Diana and Jack really good friends. Not just the typical, Jack was a friend because he was Diana’s boyfriend. Anyways, trying to remain neutral I gave support to both of them, the best I could. Jack confided in me that the reason he broke off the relationship was he had become overwhelmed by the drama Diana created. This made sense to me because Diana CRAVED drama. She created drama All. The. Time. (Looking back, I have no idea how I was friends with either of them. These friendships were just those friendships that some how… became and existed) The break up launched a series of dramatic situations created by Diana that escalated. These situations ended with Diana sleeping with a random guy from our school, 2 maybe 3 weeks after breaking up, and she ended up pregnant. The school year started up and as more kids found out about her pregnancy, the more rumors started going around. The biggest one – Jack was the father. Pregnant teens were absolutely not common in my high school. And Jack was being blamed for the situation Diana was in. Feeling empathy for my friend, I continued to be Jacks friend because most of his other friends were isolating him and giving him the cold shoulder. (To make it completely clear – Jack and I only felt friendship for each other, nothing more.) Julia hated that I was continuing to be Jacks friend. Julia accused me of betraying Diana and yelling at me for even talking to him - Jack: the one that got Diana pregnant. Julia said that she knew I couldn’t be trusted and was a horrible friend. The kicker? Julia and I knew who got Diana pregnant. Diana told us. Julia fed the rumors about Jack being the father, even though she knew the truth! For the sake of keeping the peace and adhering to the “Girl Code” I had to let the friendship with Jack dwindle to an occasional friendly wave in the hallway. A rift between Diana & Julia and myself grew regardless. The way they treated me began to change – talking down to me and keeping me out of conversations. I can guarantee they had conversations behind my back (as teenage girls do.) I can also guarantee Julia was the mastermind because Diana was too busy with the drama/attention of her pregnancy to notice anything or anyone else. I was already dealing with things at home and on top of it, had to maneuver the drama with my so called best friends. Julia doing this hurt so much because friends don’t do that. On top of it, I had a similar situation happen in middle school with a previous group of friends.
Event #2: (my main reason I don’t consider them a friend) Through Jr and Sr High school I had a crush mostly on one guy. There were other little crushes, but he was always the main one. We will call him Mark. Mark and I were actually really good friends. He was in a different friend group than Diana, Jack, and Julia. He and his friend welcomed me into their group when the drama was happening our senior year. Mark actually knew I had a crush on him. He was as kind as possible when he turned me down. Mark said he was committed to his own crush (who turned him down, saying she didn’t want to date in high school) Mark believed she was “the one” and was trying to not date anyone else as a sign of loyalty to her. Realizing Mark wasn’t going to change his mind, I had a hard time pretending and convincing myself I shouldn’t and didn’t have a crush on him. Doing so actually opened a door for Mark and I to become even closer friends. I hung out with him and his two guy friends a lot. Especially after we graduated high school. In fact, the majority of that calendar year, I basically didn’t spend any time with Diana and Julia. At the end of that year, the holiday season, all of the sudden Mark wasn’t hanging out with us as much. Our two friends told me he had a girlfriend. I assumed it was the girl he had a crush on. Especially because our friends said things like “he is picking up his girlfriend from the high school.” (his crush was the year behind us) a few weeks went by and it was almost Christmas. One of my friends was throwing a Christmas party, a bunch of us were invited. While I was hanging out in the front room with others, Mark came in through the front door, his girlfriend behind him. I couldn’t help but look in disbelief. His girlfriend wasn’t his crush, but was none other than Julia. Julia was also in the year behind us and was still going to school. Julia noticed me looking and as Mark turned away from her, she grabbed him, turned him back toward her and kissed him. I was already trying to tell myself it wasn’t a big deal. But then Julia, mid-kiss, looked straight at me. The kiss wasn’t very long but still. Some of you may argue that she was “concerned” about my reaction. But it was her grin and wave afterwards that told me Julia was gloating. Gloating that she was now dating the guy I had a crush on for years. And despite trying to deny it, I still had a crush on him. I left that friend group as well because I knew Julia was going to be there more often, which would inevitably ruin that group for me as well. I didn’t want to deal with the drama and hurt so I cut my losses.
Event #3: (the reminder event) A couple years later, Diana and Julia were married with kids. They had moved out of town, Julia even moved out of state. I got a message from Julia, sent to both Diana and I, asking if we would like to meet for lunch the next week because she (Julia) was coming into town to see family. As best as I could tell, Diana and Julia went their separate ways after we all graduated high school. For the sake of the friendship we once had, I agreed to meet. The day came, we get our food and sit down. They immediately start talking about their husbands and kids. Which is totally understandable, we were there to catch up. Thing is, I was still single – no kids, no husband. So I couldn’t add much to the conversation to relate and there wasn’t much of an opportunity to even ask questions. I finished my lunch while listening to them talk. At this point, 30-45 minutes went by and no one asked me how my life was going beyond the initial “How are you?!” when we first met up and got in line to order our food. Feeling very much like a third wheel, I wanted a chance to talk with my old friends. Finding an opportunity to organically get involved, I did so. I don’t remember what the conversation was about but I do remember I added to the conversation by saying something as simple as “Have you seen that movie yet?” Julia looked me dead in the eyes, said something specifically in response to my question and added “You aren’t even married or have a kid yet, you wouldn’t understand.” Diana laughed a little and added, “Not yet” They then continued to talk about their kids till it was decided we had been there long enough (a total of nearly 2 hrs) Today, I am married and have a kid of my own. I could talk about my kid all day long. But I don’t, because I considered it a basic social skill to be able to talk about other things. Especially to keep others involved in conversation. After this last situation, I was reminded of the way she treated me. So, I committed to keeping both, specifically Julia at a distance. At first Julia would try to convince me to visit her where she lived. Even after getting married. It eventually dwindled down to maybe 1 or 2 messages from her a year. Through all this time I give very minimal responses if Julia Facebook messages me.
I never confronted either of them about everything because I knew it would cause more drama that wasn’t worth dealing with.
So AITA?
Some of you may be looking for the petty. Well, to keep it short, Mark and I started dating 5 years after graduating high school. We have been together for 9 ½ years, married 7 ½ years, and have a beautiful 3yr old girl.
If you guys want an update on his experience dating Julia (he says it was the worse relationship he had) and how Mark and I ended up together, lmk!

2024.05.29 05:16 CrazyTurk420 Ultimate Game Pass and Family sharing on PC GamePass

Hey Everyone, My daughter turned 8 and has been getting more and more into playing games on her PC. She saw some videos of Little Kitty Big City and really wanted to play it. I installed Xbox on her PC, I logged in and then she played under my account. Then I got the itch to play it too, no biggie, I'll use the extra save spot... Now we have run into the issue that I want to play but can't because she is. I know with actual XBox, you can share your game pass and games with family memebers (tho I don't know how exactly). However, we don't have any current generation xbox as I play my games on my PC instead. Is there a way to still share game pass with her? Would we be able to play at the same time? I'm sorry, I'm sure the answers are buried in this sub somewhere, but all I'm finding is Xbox related stuff (Console)
