Q1 knob mods

2024.05.16 05:56 Its_Pamela_Isley Q1 knob mods

Hi folks,
very soon i'm gonna get my new Q1 knob barebone. I also ordered some Gateron Oil kings and Gpbt Keycaps for it since there are not that man ISO De options.
By watching yt videos for mods i learned that there is no need for the force break mod anymore.
But i was planning two more mods and i'm not sure if they are possible even if i've got the boards in my hands so i'm hoping for some people that already tried it.
1: I ordered some 2mm eva foam for the bottom of the case. Is that even necessary? I think they also put thicker stuff in there compared to the no knob v1 version which is covered in most of the yt vids.
  1. i've got some 0.5mm switch pads to put under the switches which should help with sound but i heard that the foam Keychron put in there is already very thick and there could be problems with roughly connecting pins and the switch activation so that you have to press pretty hard which is not what i wanna achieve. Those pads are self-adhesive so i dont really wanna put them all on and off again. Has anyone tried putting a realy thin layer between switches and pcb?
Thanks a lot for any input!

2024.05.16 05:46 doubleindemnity22 Cap Corse drive

I’m going to be staying in Bastia and want to do the Cap Corse drive, but I’m a bit terrified of some of the reviews I’ve read of the road on this drive. I’ve read that traveling West to East on D80, while less scenic, is also less nerve racking because you are on the inside and away from the steep drop offs so I’m planning on doing that.
Is there a stretch of D80 that is particularly difficult that I could potentially cut out, such as around Nonza? Would a route such as Bastia—>up the east coast on D80 to D180–>D180 through Luri to Pino—>north/east on D80 and then loop around back to the east coast make sense? Or is D180 just as harrowing as the stretch of D80 between Pino and Nonza?
While Nonza looks amazing I’m happy to cut it out if it means I can have a less terrifying experience and still get to some of the other places (Port de Centuri) I want to see.

2024.05.16 05:45 FatherKarrl [DEVELOPMENT] Miniaturization

As normal, the Defense Ordinance Subcommission was on the regular hunt for researchers and new technologies to present to the State Defense Commission. The agency had become expert in asset acquisition, often giving exorbitant deals that couldn't be refused. When deals couldn't be made, the agency was not above subterfuge and espionage. However, DOSC very much preferred to make deals, usually providing a better life for the families of those it seeks to assimilate into its machine of the eccentric.
In recent years, DOSC had engaged in a massive radio campaign, bombarding the airwaves when and where it could with advertisements highlighting the cheery and exciting surface of the organization. The campaign had been a resounding success and DOSC had hired on dozens of new researchers of various backgrounds and talent levels.
These new employees had come from across the continent and from all walks of life. Most interesting among them were those who now made up DOSC's Computerized Ordinance Board (DOSC-COB). The chief among these researchers were the five affectionately called the Circuit Breakers; Walter Houser Brattain, Gordon Moore, John Bardeen, Mohamed M. Atalla, and Dawon Kahng. All of these men had come from all corners of the former United States. Walter was from Spokane, Gordon from San Jose, John from Illinois, Mohamed from New Jersey, Egypt originally, and Dawon from Ohio, Korea originally.
Between them was the Compact's collective understanding of cutting edge electronic research. Not but a few years ago, Dawon and Mohamed had developed the MOSFET (metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor), the Garden of Eden of electronic components as far as DOSC was concerned, providing a higherspeed, less power intensive, and less hot transistor for more advanced circuits.
This early research and development by Dawon and Mohamed had been joined by the knowledge of the other three, Walter and John having attempted a similar feat way back in the 30s before being thwarted by the US Patent Office thanks to Julius Lilienfeld's work in the mid 20s. The Austrian Jew had stopped either man from continuing further, William Shockley's hold on the industry collapsing not long after as is firm's prospects dried up. However, now both John and Walter had a second chance. Fleeing violent application of black nationalism and seeking a life where he wasn't constantly insulted with the title "Yakubite", John had left Illinois to meet with his former associate, Walter, in Spokane where both were approached by DOSC with prospective job offers.
Much to both gentlemen's surprise, DOSC had also acquired Gordon Moore from San Jose, California. Gordon had played a direct hand in William Shockley's fall from grace, being a member of the "Traitorous Eight" as Shockley would make sure to remind the media. Free of Shockley's authorian approach to teamwork, Gordon was quickly approached by a DOSC agent while enjoying a meal in a San Jose diner. Despite Sherman Fairchild's, the benefactor who encouraged the Traitorious Eight to rebel against Shockley, DOSC's offer couldn't be resisted, securing Gordon, his wife, and his two sons immediate citizenship within the Compact and an all expense paid life in the Great North. DOSC's investment would be quickly returned on, as Gordon became the pièce de résistance to DOSC-COB's efforts.
Utilizing the prior work and minds of Dawon and Mohamed, Gordon became a wizard of the circuit board. Recognizing and expertly applying the massive advantages of the MOSFET transistor, Gordon saw the inevitability of MOSFET's take over in regards to its impressive scalability and unparalleled low power consumption.
It would be from here that Gordon and the rest of the Circuit Breakers would begin not work very closely with Tia Baisho, chief engineer of DOSC's Kinentic Movement Board (DOSC-KMB), per her own request and much to DOSC's excitement. Tia had the type of eccentric idea that DOSC drooled over, that being a radical plan to drastically reduce the strain on combat manpower, opening the military up to greater support personnel potentials. However, to do so, she would need a new field of electronic components and ability that the world has yet to see.

2024.05.16 05:42 PsychoARB Tour Options from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama?

Currently planning a multi-month trip to South America in October-December. During which, my partner (31M) and I (27M) are hoping to do a multi-night trip starting in Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia and ending in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile.
I've seen a lot of tours going in the alternate direction, but much less going in along this route. Some examples I've found are Perla de Bolivia, Ruta Verde, and Estrella del Sur. However, these all seems to have mixed reviews in terms of rough accommodations, food quality (some mention food poisoning), or not offering English tour guides (which we would need).
Not looking for a luxury or private experience by any means, but looking for something that's reputable and comfortable, while still seeing all the things to be seen (salt flat, lagoons, train cemetery, hot springs, etc.)!
Does anyone have experiences with any of these tours I've listed? Or is there an alternate tour company that you recommend?
I've heard there are a ton that will try to sell you when you arrive in Uyuni, but I'm way too type A for that and would like to lock something down in advance if we can.

2024.05.16 05:08 NaturalTree3 Third Party Not At Fault Insurance Claim

Hey all,
I'm with NRMA and have third party car insurance. Someone reversed in to me at a cul de sac in March, and after drama determining who is at fault the other driver has been made liable. They are also with NRMA and have apparently accepted liability, but are claiming financial hardship and cannot pay their excess.
From what I understand, they're in contact with a special department in NRMA to set up a payment plan. The problem is I cannot proceed with my claim under their insurance to get my car fixed until they pay their excess. The NRMA are stonewalling me, I've sent complaints with the same answer of 'we cannot proceed with the claim until the other party have met their policy obligations' e.g. paid their excess.
I am struggling to get to work and do basic things without a car. It's been months and my car hasn't even been looked at for a quote on repairs. Wondering what recourse I have to escalate this?
Thanks

2024.05.16 05:04 Busy_Supermarket_524 Small house

I live in a very small home and as somebody with autism ger this is very hard for me. I am appreciative of where I live I don't want to come off as ungrateful atful There is NO privacy anywhere, you can sneeze and the whole house will hear.. actually. There is nowhere for me to get quiet because there is always noise, not even the bathroom because de everything done in the bathroom is heard from those in the living room. Living in such a small house is challenging for me and yes, I do plan to work hard and move out when i'm old enough. Sometimes I just want to truly have space where I can not be heard and I can not hear much of everything else happening.

Find a quiet spot on the beach, close your eyes, and take slow, deep breaths to center yourself and let go of any tension.Another effective practice is meditation. Set aside some time each day to meditate, focusing on the present moment and letting go of any stressful thoughts.Additionally, participating in gentle yoga sessions on the beach can help you unwind and destress. The combination of the soothing ocean waves and the calming yoga poses can create a serene environment for relaxation. To further enhance your relaxation, indulge in the spa treatments offered at the resort. Treat yourself to massages, facials, or body scrubs to rejuvenate your mind and body. The therapeutic touch and calming ambiance of the spa can elevate your relaxation experience. Moreover, take leisurely walks along the pristine beaches or simply relax in a hammock while listening to the sound of the waves. Disconnecting from technology and immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the Maldives can help you truly unwind and recharge.Packing Light and SmartLet's streamline our relaxation experience by packing light and smart for our Maldives resort stay. When it comes to packing light, focusing on the essentials is key. Here are a few tips to ensure you're prepared without overpacking:Swimsuits: Given that you'll likely spend most of your time in the water or on the beach, packing a few swimsuits is a must. Opt for versatile pieces that you can mix and match for different looks.Sunscreen: Protecting your skin from the sun is crucial, especially in a tropical destination like the Maldives. Consider bringing reef-safe sunscreen to not only safeguard your skin but also the marine environment.Curly Hair Care: Embrace your natural curls during your stay and keep your hair routine simple. Pack the necessary products to manage and enhance your curls in the humid weather.Respecting Local CustomsRespecting local customs in the Maldives entails dressing modestly and being mindful of cultural norms to ensure a harmonious experience during your stay.

2024.05.16 04:48 jcash94 French NCO Distinctions

I’ve started working on collecting and assembling the bodies for my planned French and Free French armies. I started with some Late War Free French in US uniforms because the Rangers Lead the Way box allows me to build the models with Springfield rifles. When I eventually buy my first box of French Army Infantry, I’ll use the Adrian helmets for the U.S. uniformed bodies and make 30 Senegalese.
The question I currently have, is what distinguished French and Free French NCOs. Did the Free French adopt the U.S. helmet stripe system (a horizontal white bar for NCO, vertical bar for officers)? Or should I model the NCOs in either the ‘bonnet de police,’ or beret? What did the French Army do in 1940?

2024.05.16 04:26 Dry_Performance_8265 Portugal and maybe Spain in June with a toddler. Help please...

Hey,
My wife and I will be travelling with our toddler to Portugal and maybe Spain. We will be flying into Lisbon on the 2nd of June and flyout out of Lisbon on the 26th of June.
I am sorry if this has been asked 20,000 time... We have read through lots of advice and have come up with a few options for our trip...
We like spending time walking around old towns, enjoy trying new food, visiting museums and also like enjoying the beach... we have a preference for quieter areas rather than busy areas:
A few options we have listed...
Option 1
2nd - 7th Lisbon
7th - 8th Obidos
8th-12th Porto
12-14th Evora
14th-25th Algarve.
25th stay in Lisbon as flying 26th.
Option 2
2nd - 7th Lisbon
7 - 9th Evora
9 - 14th Seville, Ronda, sentinel de las bodegas
14th - 25th Algarve
Option 3
2nd - 7th Lisbon
7th - 11th Porto
12 - 25th Algarve, where we also have the option of driving into the Spanish coast. We could go to Rota / Cadiz
We plan to rent a car after our first few weeks in Lisbon.
Which of the options above would make for a better trip? Will Seville be too hot for a toddler if we choose to go with Option 2 above.
