2024.05.16 23:25 Ashtray46 My Opinionated Ranking of Every Playable Character From The Last 16 Years

My Opinionated Ranking of Every Playable Character From The Last 16 Years
All ordered from left-to-right. Characters having funny, memorable gameplay quotes had much more bearing on placement than cutscene performances and the quality of their writing. I'll use this space to defend what I believe are some of the more controversial placements, but feel free to roast me in the comments and discuss your favorites that maybe didn't rank as high as you feel they should.
Nikolai (Ultimus) Every. Joke. Lands. The shit where he's dysfunctional-tier wasted on every map. The jokes about how he killed all of his ex wives. The communism jokes ("Why don't we share the ammo?". I have an unending amount of love for this character. He's fucking perfect.
Nixon For many JFK is the clear winner on this map, but I've always loved how far Treyarch went to portray Nixon as an incompetent asshole. I've been playing Five for over a decade now and I still crack up when he shouts at the crawlers saying "Get a job you hippie!". Amazing caricature of such an infamous American figure.
Russman I've got a massive soft spot for boomer humor and "Fuck you, I'm old" jokes. Russman is, objectively, one of the weaker characters in the series regarding his writing, but I can't help but find him charming. Love the light-hearted goofy vibe of the Victis crew and I'll happily take it over the dramatic monologuing of crews like Chaos and Primus.
Samantha I just love playing as the series' OG big bad. One of the most memorable parts of Moon was taking Samantha down a notch and having her react to the nonsense she had been throwing at us since World at War.
Nikolai (Primus) Primus Nikolai breaks my rule stated above about funny, memorable quips being more important than character writing. I feel Nikolai is a rare example of a Primus character adding more depth to their Ultimus counterpart, which for Nikolai is very welcome.
Takeo (Ultimus) I still have his Primis counterpart ranked higher, but Ultimus Takeo is a character I feel gets funnier as time passes by. He's not a badass, but I love how his character slowly becomes more unhinged as Black Ops 1 eases along. Something in the perk colas turned him into an absolute goofball and I'm totally here for it.
Dempsey (Ultimus & Primus) Dempsey easily changed the least between Ultimus and Primus. While I still love him, I feel he's aged opposite to Takeo. The badass American with all the one-liners was funny in the 2010s, but it feels a bit old now (atleast to me). That being said, he's still iconic and will always have a place in my A tier.
Marlton I know. He's pretentious, a simp, and a sissy. Zombies hit him and he screams like a girl. He's alot of things that should be annoying, but I've never been bothered by him like other people. As a gun nerd I love listening to him geek out about the dumb BOII/BOIIII sci-fi weapons and I like the dichotomy between him and Misty. They're total opposites, which makes it fun to listen to them banter.
Gideon and Christina "Dead of The Night characters this high? That map was ASS." I agree. I've never liked any of the BOIIII maps and even gave the game a pass when it first released. Going back and playing these maps for this tierlist though, I think these two were overshadowed a bit by all the trash performances around them. Cowboy Roebuck being every American stereotype from the time? Amazing. Helena Bonham Carter as a spoiled, pompous British conwoman? She killed it. They still aren't the best, but I think they earned their places in B. They're a comfy respite from the rest of BOIIII.
The Mob of The Dead cast I know I'm wrong. These characters are fantastically written and performed. We finally got zombies characters that weren't loud stereotypes. That being said, I have never gravitated towards serious zombies. Mob of The Dead is an extremely fun map in every way a map can succeed, but the crew's gameplay quotes have always just been whatever to me. I will say that their downed quotes are some of the best performed and written dialogue in the entire CoD franchise; it's just that they sorta take me out of the experience.
Richtoften (Primis) My bias (again) against serious writing in zombies. Everything this man says makes me want to turn off the game and go take a nap. I was never interested in the Black Ops III subplot of his mysterious plan and where his allegiances lied. He's still Richtoften so I can't put him below C, but I honestly just don't like anything about him.
Drostan The least bad part of the WWII zombies cast. Sledgehammer was clearly trying to recreate the charm of Ultimus with Drostan and I think in some ways they succeeded. He's still not the best, but he's leagues ahead of his peers and I don't think a great map like the Final Reich would feel playable without him.
The Chaos Crew So boring. Bruno's personality saves him a bit, I like the archetypal big guy with the dry sense of humor and Shaw's got some funny quips, but Scarlett and Diego are so painfully boring. The Chaos maps gameplay is so in your face and trying to hold you're attention, but the dialogue on those two feels so out of tune with what's actually going on.
The Verrückt Marines A great benchmark to compare the other characters. I don't hate the marines; in a way they make me feel like I'm playing the WaW campaign which is nothing but good memories. That being said though, their tone doesn't fit zombies very well and they're mad generic. Shoutout to Paxton (or Dempsey, not sure) for all the Army of Darkness quotes. Anyone below this is so annoying or boring that I'd rather they be replaced by generic soldiers.
The IW Zombies crew I just have no interest at all in these characters. They're boring, and the constant changing personalities every map didn't exactly help flesh them out. My apologies to anyone that likes them, but IW as a whole is a big pass for me.
Pam Grier Not sure if this is controversial or not but this has gotta be one of the worst performances in the series. You can tell with every word that comes out of her mouth how little she wants to be there. As an actress she's done some amazing work, but as a voice actress she failed. Never cook again.
Floyd Campbell Ron Perlman gave the worst performance of his career here. It sounds like he's reading his lines while sitting on the couch at home trying to memorize them for the actual recording. I can't help but think this is a directorial issue or maybe a mistake made in the editing process, like maybe the wrong lines were used. Regardless, I have no clue how his lines made it into the final release of a Triple-A game, let alone the followup to the legendary BOII.
The WWII crew Oh God, what happened? At the very least I can say Marie is decently written and Drostan's quips are fine. But man, the other two are phoning it in hard. What's the point of using your budget on big name actors when they give performances like this. Some of Jefferson and Olivia's lines venture into "So bad it's funny" territory.

Insufficient Time For Delivery?
Nakaka-pikon na, few months ago na-penalize ako (can't order COD) kasi I didn't receive daw my parcel. THE COURIER NEVER CALLED.
And now ito? What does that mean? Will it come back pa tomorrow? The courier didn't call na naman. Tapos yung proof of delivery masyadong up close sa parcel, I don't even know if pumunta ba talaga rito. I was here all day and I could see our gate from my window.
Is this enough ba to contact customer service? What do I need to say?

2024.05.16 14:58 KiddleyWiffers Confusion on custom map rules.

So I was planning on remaking CS:S maps for this game because duh, and I was surprised no one else had. But then I came across this document. https://onwardthegame.com/doc/CustomContentGuide.pdf
Specifically this part is confusing ● You may not use any copyrighted / unlicensed assets in your map. For example, you may not directly port de_dust2, or Blood Gulch etc.). Inspired homages of maps from other games and universes must be carried out without infringing source material. 4 ● You must refrain from using terminology in your map descriptions that likens or compares it to a 1:1 copy of an existing map in another game or universe. ○ “A recreation of…” is not allowed. ○ “Inspired by…” is allowed.
Now I'm not trying to snitch, but there are 2 COD maps that I love playing on the Onward workshop right now. I would like to know if this rule has maybe changed but wasn't updated in the document or something because I really think certain CS maps would be really fun to experience in VR. (Please don't suggest Pavlov, I already tried it.)
EDIT: If I get an answer in the negative I will immediately delete this post in order to not "dry snitch" on the COD maps.

2024.05.16 12:54 JustADumbAssMofo Taking tapentadol (palexia) the day after tramadol

I'm usually prescribed tramadol to take as needed in order to treat JRA pain, but I've recently started having a bad flare-up and have been suffering a lot more than usual.
My doctor prescribed me tapentadol to see if that will work better than the tramadol. I took 200mg tramadol this morning, but I have another busy day tomorrow, so I might need painkillers again.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether it will be safe to take the tapentadol tomorrow, or if I should wait until I haven't had tramadol for a few days? I'd ask my doctor, but she's away for a few days.

2024.05.16 10:18 white_eleph Very bad performance of our ads after a good trial initially, what went wrong?

Hi everyone,
So we've recently started our business and we were testing our all over print tote bags. Firstly a couple of weeks back we did a trial run with COD only as an option and we broke even, spent 4k and got almost that much amount of orders (10 orders). It wasnt the desired ROAS from any stretch but we thought its a good start, because our mockups and the fact we didnt have a payment gateway would just add on to this trial.
After about 2 weeks, we have now tried UGC collected photos run as a carousel ad in 1 campaign, a carousel post with created mockups as a seperate campaign (both of these with shopping bag, amazon, etsy, vincent van gogh as a couple of interests) and lastly a UGC video reel as an advantage plus campaign. None of these 3 have performed well for us like AT ALL. the landing page views itself has been so less and thus connected to that the add to carts & checkouts initiated have been almost neglible. We ran these 3 with only online payment as an option so idk what you guys think but the fact that the landing page views itself were pretty bad (3.2k INR gave us only 158 landing page views) so we're not sure if not having COD was the barrier because a customer didnt even reach there to figure that as a hurdle.
But overall, could you guys help in letting us know whats the issue been according to your hypothesis and what do we do? We're ready to accept that perhaps the designs we ran aren't great and not the market fit but the weird thing is how the first trial did okayish and then the follow up ones with seemingly better quality did horribly. Pls help. Facebook Ads is like being stuck in a maze and we don't even know where to pinpoint our attention to decipher what went wrong.

2024.05.16 03:45 Mythic01 RMS Collections, UPS brokerage

I ordered several things from China a couple months back.
Each one got dinged something like $1 taxes. Plus, UPS billed a brokerage fee on top.
Only thing is, they never notified me of the taxes or the brokerage fees. They just completed the delivery without any CoD paperwork or any kind of notification of the fees.
So, some smart guy at UPS decides to mail me a bill after the fact thinking I'll pay their scam fees that I never agreed to and was not notified of before the service was performed.
Now, they're sending it to their in house "collections" agency. Think it's been a month or more since the first letter and nothing on my credit report.
Hard to believe this could impact my credit rating when it's something I never agreed to pay in the first place eh?
BTW, I'm in Alberta

2024.05.15 18:14 Deimoseloc Building a gaming pc

> 1. Is this a brand new build, or an upgrade to an existing build?
This will be a brand new build
> 2. Please list any existing parts or monitor(s) you have that you would like to re-use with this build. For upgrades, a PCPartPicker list of your full build is extremely helpful. Be as specific as you can be here, including links or exact model numbers of each component whenever possible.
No existing parts except for a mouse
> 3. What will this PC be used for? Examples include things like gaming, general/multimedia use, photo/video editing, coding, AI/ML, etc. Include specific games and applications you intend to run, and any particular performance goals you have, as each may have different specific hardware needs.
This pc will be used for competitive gaming like ranked Cod MP (not warzone) and sports games. Along with roblox
> 4. What country will you be purchasing in? If you are in the US, do you live near a Micro Center? For other countries, please check if your country is supported by PCPartPicker by using the country selector dropdown on the top right - if not, please provide some links to reliable local vendors you are comfortable ordering from.
I will be purchasing this in the US. No micrometer near
> 5. Do you need one or more monitors included in the budget? Please list how many and any size/resolution/refresh rate preferences if needed.
Just 1 monitor required. 27", 1440p and 200hz+ would be nice
> 6. What is your preferred and maximum budget range for this build, in local currency? Parts lists may sometimes have additional shipping costs. Please note whether prices in your country include sales tax or not, and adjust your budget accordingly. Typically VAT countries will have it included in the part list prices, whereas regular sales tax countries like the US and Canada will not.
Budget would be sitting around $1500. That's a flexible budget, not a hard one. If a build can do what is needed for less than perfect
> 7. Do you need WiFi, or do you have a wired ethernet connection available?
I have wired ethernet
> 8. Do you have any specific size or noise requirements for the build?
Quieter the better but I'm not picky
> 9. Do you have any aesthetic preferences for color or lighting? Describe what you're looking for, or feel free to provide some links to examples that may help. Some people prefer an inobtrusive stealth build, while others may prefer a case full of rainbow RGB.
No preferences at all
> 10. Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.
Again, nothing I can think of

AR-61 Tenderizer: in search of identity
Since weapon balancing has been a hot topic recently (yes, I still feel the pain of losing my beloved crossbow), I thought why don't we - just for fun - talk about weapon identity and the recent Warbond. And AR-61 Tenderizer is a great example of how some ideas of numerical balancing might make a weapon feel obsolete on release.
So first off, yeah, Tenderizer is functionally very similar to the default starting gun, having a slightly improved recoil at the price of lower rate of fire and mag capacity. At face value, this sounds like a tradeoff that might work on paper - and I'm sure there's a lovely spreadsheet somewhere in design documentation where this exact set of stats gives the Tenderizer a decent median 'power weight' for its class, putting it on par with some other ARs; however, as people that used that gun can attest - it... just doesn't feel great to use, and there's only so much small numerical tweaks can do.
All this to say, the Tenderizer lacks its own unique 'thing', its own identity that sets it apart from others.
And I think the original description for this gun, as well as some of its aesthetics, could give us an interesting opportunity to revamp it into something fun and less same-ey.
"A high-caliber assault rifle with a restrictive magazine size but more stopping power."
Meet the ASh-12.
https://preview.redd.it/3n9pvq7irl0d1.jpg?width=850&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4fe012de59c2deb43f10747fa8b5bf1df44bafa
Also known to people that play CoD MWI as the Oden, ASh-12 is a 12.7×55mm assault rifle made for special forces with the sole role of providing as much stopping power for urban environments as humanly possible, range and ergonomics be damned. It bears a number of visual similarities with the Tenderizer, including its boxy bullpup design, a THICC BOI magazine, a funny carryhandle (though this one is detachable), and the general disregard for the operators' comfort - after all, we're here to shoot big bugs and robots on the orders of a totalitarian extremely democratic government, not conform to some sorts of conventions or what have you.
Now, to cross this concept with actual gameplay tweaks:
  • considerably increase Tenderizer's damage: despite claims of "higher caliber", it still deals the bog-standard 60 damage - this should be punched way up to some flat 100 or thereabouts, which would make it noticeably more effective at dealing with small-to-medium targets (Hunters, Warriors, Troopers) and with critical hits against medium targets (Brood Commanders, Stalkers, Berserkers);
  • a massive increase in its Stagger - not exactly to a Concussive perk levels, but definitely by quite a bit, as damage and stopping power are the two stronger suits of the 'reference' gun;
  • a bigger cut to its mag, say down to about 20 rounds total to compensate for the actual larger caliber (still keeping its reserves at 10 mags so the total ammo inventory stays in comparable ballpark with the Adjudicator);
  • a stronger kick - this would make it more of a short range weapon for distances of, say, under 60-80m;
  • increased damage falloff to limit its range;
  • aesthetics #1, considering filing off that scope and replacing it with iron sights to push the new CQC rifle identity;
  • aesthetics #2, alter its sound for something more authoritative to give it the audio feedback of a gun that can probably kill a small building.
Functionally, this would push this AR from the "below-average assault rifle, jack of all trades and master of none" into a fast-firing heavy-hitter niche, bridging the otherwise massive gap between normal ARs and likes of JAR-4 Dominator without encroaching on the Marksman Rifle territory due to its limited range. If the above stat changes would still leave it underpowered, it could also be pushed into Medium Pen range - with its decreased range, it would still differ considerably from the Adjudicator as a shorter distance weapon with higher stagger, and from the Dominator as a faster-firing, more maneuverable platform.
This is just one example of how this gun can be given a new lease on life by changing its concept; I'd love to hear other suggestions on how the gun can be made more viable - and most of all, more fun to use.

2024.05.15 10:41 Dr1sty_ No graphic settings in warzone?

I recently downloaded warzone (cod) from steam. I have a ryzen 5 5600G and a rx6600. The graphics when i join a game are potato and the gun doesn’t even load in. After some time like 1 or 2 minutes the graphics loads. I then realised that there are no advanced graphics settings in order to change them to low.
Should i download warzone from somewhere else or is this normal?

Jonesy vs Richtofen (Fortnite vs Call of Duty)
My preferred for both now. Really hope this one gains some traction. Former members of evil groups (Imagined Order and Group 935) bent on manipulating time and space via harnessing foreign energy (Zero Point and Element 115), leading to multiple events that ended up causing waves through the multiverse, full of monsters, zombies, and any type of wacky gun you could get your hands on. Now it’s up to these two and their new allies (The Seven and Primis) to travel through the multiverse with their wacky portal devices (Riff Portal and Summoning Key) to save the fates of everyone.
Also helps that Fortnite and CoD seem to be newfound rivals in the video game space, trying to one up each other on who can be the best f2p battle royale/shooting game with wacky crossovers on the market!

2024.05.15 07:33 Remarkable-Sorbet282 Amazon delivery executive just drop the parcel randomly

So to give the context, I have been ordering from amazon from quiet some time but from past few months have come across this issue multiple times that the delivery executive will just drop the parcel outside the door . They won’t give a call . This is happening with most of the pre paid orders. There is no way on amazon to connect with the agent either.
This is happening in my apartment address and they just ring the bell and drop the parcel. In case if I am not there then who is going to take the responsibility?
I have lost the package in past as well and have complained to the customer support but again I faced the same issue when they just dropped it outside and after getting the message I got to know. Are they really that busy ?
Also what can be done regarding this ? When I lost my parcel previous time the customer support made me wait for week before issuing the refund . I mostly prefer COD now but sometimes when I know I won’t be there I prefer pre paid so that it can be handed to security but they never call! They just leave it outside the door without even confirming and it’s marked in app as delivered to resident.
Edit 1: To all those who have mentioned about Mygate , yes there is that option but please understand there are multiple packages in one apartment and the agent requests for entry in any of that. If I get a request I would definitely deny when I am not at home and ask security to keep it. But that is not the case all the time . Also the flat numbers are same in all the blocks and they don’t check carefully which block is mentioned and without cross checking drop it at someone’s else door ( happend that as well but thankfully people drop it at security and I get to know about it). Hence it doesn’t work .
Also there is no option of DND or anything selected right now . They never called at my office address too but there they have no option but to hand over to security so it’s fine.

2024.05.15 05:30 delibirdguy Top 500 Songs Ever (Subjective)

Over the course of the past few months I have been working on compiling a list of my 500 favorite songs. It was sort of challenge that I gave myself and I'm super pumped with how it turned out. There were a few rules (only 5 songs per artist being the big rule, among a few others), and here's the list I came up with. Thought it was fun, so wanted to share here and see if it might spark any discussion about song placement, lack of songs/artists, or see if anyone had any similar lists. All thoughts are welcome! Did Shimo lose to Godzilla in the past?
Some tidbits in the featurette has got me thinking.
They mention in a speculative manner that Godzilla might have fought Shimo in the past, and that's why he's able to identify Shimo with his sixth sense which jogs his memory. The CoD mural also seen in the prequel comics seem to back this up, and there is also mention of the same mural in the novelization. So I guess it's at least very likely that the two fought in ancient times.
And we know Shimo was one of the surface world inhabitants originally, since she caused the ice age on the surface world and all that. But it's mentioned that Skar King 'discovered' her in the Hollow Earth. The only explanation I can think of for this discrepancy is that Godzilla somehow drove Shimo off the surface world.
Because they also mention in the featurette that Godzilla would never go down to Hollow Earth on his own accord. He only cares about the surface world and doesn't care about Hollow Earth's inhabitants unless his enemies venture up and bring the fight to him.
So it's pretty reasonable to assume that Godzilla and Shimo fought on the surface world which resulted in Shimo being driven out. Because according to the commentary, Godzilla seems to NOT tolerate Shimo being up on the surface at all, so much so that he acts out and goes around killing other Titans in order to power up a step and settle his score with Shimo. Or maybe they reached some sort of territorial truce like Kong did with Godzilla.
The question is how he won at all since timeline-wise this is pre-Garegoji we're talking about. Wingard mentions in the commentary that Godzilla(pre-evolution) normally would have "trouble" combatting Shimo, but the way he puts it it sounds like Doughegoji can still take her on without exponential power ups albeit with difficulties. But it's still hard to imagine pre-Garegoji fighting Shimo.

2024.05.14 21:34 dbwilso1 LG C3 42” + LG 32GS95UE

LG C3 42” + LG 32GS95UE
I’ve seen so many reviews about the 32GS95UE and here are some of my opinions.
Backstory…when I first started using gaming monitors, I originally bought the Samsung Neo’s g7 & g8 and returned them immediately. I bought the gigabyte 32m32u and returned that too. When I came to a final setup it included the ultragears 32gq850-b/950-b…the 950 being my primary for FPS with 4k 120 hz on PS5 & I loved that monitor.
I moved states and made one room a dedicated office/studio/gaming room & the 32” monitors just seemed small for my space. Plus I was trying to transition to OLED, so I sold both and got an LG C3. That TV is amazing for gaming and is going nowhere.
The only downside is when I play call of duty, I felt that I was limited on what I could see. Needing to turn my face to look at the mini map caused me quite a few deaths that I could’ve avoided. So I decided to hunt for a 32” oled. LG has never failed me so I chose this monitor despite all the “the matte looks like shit” comments. I preordered it & the MSI MPG. Almost had my hands on the MSI but the store who I ordered it from called me 30 minutes before I was going to pick it up to tell me there was a customer service issue and they had to pull it off the shelf…AKA they sold it to someone else.
My LG came 2 Saturdays ago & ive Been playing on it for a week now and side by side to my C3…it’s clearer, the colors are just as vibrant, and unless the lights are on, I can’t tell that one is matte and the other is gloss. I have a 1in-2out switch that lets me go back and forth between both immediately and I did many times just to see if I could see a true noticeable difference. Yes my C3 is brighter on max settings, but on max it’s too bright and it causes strain on my eyes in a dark room, so I don’t consider that a valuable plus. The size is the only thing that it has over this monitor, other than it’s a smart TV. The 32” is absolutely a monster and will be my primary again for COD.
The reviews on YouTube talk about how the matte coating isn’t a noticeable factor, but in the comments all I see is people shitting on it when it’s not even noticeable. Like not even a little. Plus the pixel sound is amazing for when I don’t feel like using my headset if I have people over.
Try it yourself. Don’t listen to the hate. I love this monitor and will recommend it 10/10.
& yes I’m watching family guy while playing COD
