Is it selfish to want only dry screws?

2024.05.15 09:29 SuitableLettuce Is it selfish to want only dry screws?

After many years of scrimping and saving, I've managed to obtain my very own bottomless money pit apartment on the outskirts of Sydney. So, naturally I believe it's a rite of passage for me to attempt putting up a shelf.
I have two main (of a billion) questions. Firstly, I understand that electrical and plumbing work need to be performed by a licensed tradesperson. I watched one episode of Better Homes and Gardens 22 years ago, and it's always stuck in my memory. Also, the best lamb recipe in the cooking segment - but I digress.
  1. I want to put up a shelf in the ensuite. I put on big boy pants and went and bought a drill and seemingly one of every single drill-bit that Bunnings sell. I'm looking forward to cracking my first tile, but I am not looking forward to nicking a pipe or cable, or the ultimate scrotum shriveller - nicking both simultaneously. There is already a towel rack on that wall, so there's hope for my grand plan. What I'd like to know is if there is a resource that's easily understood by a common idiot about building codes and stuff so I might have a general idea of where the pipes are? Such as "all pipes must be installed at XX height from blah blah" so I can avoid calling an emergency wrench wielding crack displayer. I got a good quality stud-finder from the green tin roof temple, but somehow it's tells me everything and nothing is a stud at the same time. The instructions said to place my other hand on the wall, but I don't buy into all that astrology and crystals mumbo jumbo.
  2. Many of my power points and light switches are looser than a stool after a sweaty evening session down at the local vindaloo dispensary. I have a feeling the previous owner felt themselves a bit handy and may have grabbed a 10 pack of Shenzhen house igniters from the Reject Shop and whacked them in the walls himself. Going by number of dodgy wall outlets and the empty little bag of drugs I found under the sink on settlement day, it's probably likely that's the case. Is there such a thing as, like, an electrical audit? Can a sparky come in and replace the outlets and tell me that the wiring is safe without having to pull all the gyprock off?
Lastly, is there a reputable way to find good area-local tradies apart from wildly googling and looking at every website that can afford good SEO. My distaste of being stung by service people is only second to that of bees and wasps, and it's happened to me before when I fell for a flashy Squarespace template. I'm happy to reasonably pay for deft hands with tools rather than web design.
TL;DR Mildly ambitious smoothbrain bought a drill and wants to know how to not fuck up his property.

2024.05.15 09:14 Lord_PanDA_ Roku TV Flashing Red Light - 5 Solutions

Roku TV Flashing Red Light - 5 Solutions
Encountering a flashing red light on your Roku TV, whether it's an onn., Hisense, TCL or any other brand, can be unsettling, but don't worry!
I've compiled a list of solutions that have been either tried and tested by myself or proven successfully by Roku users across various tech forums.
If you're looking for a more detailed step-by-step guide complete with demo images for each solution, just check out the hyperlink under the solution's name.
1. Manually Reconnect to Wi-Fi Sometimes the issue can be as simple as a Wi-Fi hiccup. If you've just done a power recycle on your router and your Roku TV starts blinking red twice repeatedly, try manually reconnecting your Roku TV to your wireless network may fix the issue.
2. Ensure Stable Power Supply Check if your Roku TV's power supply is stable and sufficient. Make sure it's plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a power strip, which can sometimes cause issues with consistent power delivery.
3. Replace the Power Board If power cycling doesn’t help, the issue might be with the Roku TV’s power board. This is a bit more technical and might require professional help, especially if your TV is still under warranty to avoid voiding it.
4. Check the Backlight A faulty backlight can also cause a blinking red light. Replacing the backlight might solve the problem, but this can be complex and might be best handled by a professional. You can check by shining a flashlight closely into the TV screen, if any image appears, then the culprit is the backlight.
5. Contact the Manufacturer When all else fails, reaching out to the manufacturer or Roku support can be your best bet, especially if there might be a more serious underlying issue with your device.
Remember, tackling hardware issues on your own can be risky, so when in doubt, it's wise to consult with or hire a professional.
For those who've run into this red light issue, which solution worked for you? Let's help each other out in the comments below!

2024.05.15 09:12 Aditya_Kumar5155 Why useFrame stops working after few seconds?

I was using useFrame , a react-three/fiber hook which updates contents in it every frame. But when i used it , it only works when i scroll or touch the object then after few seconds it just stops again.
Here is the code sample:
const Earth = () => { const rotateMesh = useRef() const earth = useGLTF('./earth/scene.gltf') useFrame(({ clock }) => { rotateMesh.current.rotation.y = clock.getElapsedTime() }) return ( //      //  ) }

2024.05.15 09:04 soul420_ I have a question regarding my state Alabama and what my rights are as far as being pulled over

I was pulled over for moving over lanes when being tailed by police they kept switching back behind me and wouldn't just pass me up and then 3 task force pull me over for "avoiding them".
I don't think that counts as probable cause to have to surrender my license which I did and when everything came back clean they wanted to search my vehicle to which I said no I know my rights and that was that but all 3 cop cars no no body cams on which in my state happends a lot. I didn't have a camera hooked up at the time so I didn't show my ass but I'm definitely getting one asap.
They claimed I swerved then admitted I just moved lanes to "avoid them" I was litterally in the left lane they were ridding my ass I moved to the right lane and last minute they got behind me as the was turning right and I got back over so I could wait at the light so they wouldn't be following me and shit obviously . They noticed this and all hid up ahead and they had backup already waiting asap. I went up ahead and they were stopped waiting and immediately got behind me and lit me up. Idk I just feel like unless I swerved or did something traffic wise u can't just pull me over for not wanting you to be driving directly behind me the entire time and the fact they purposely were following me last minute switching lanes definetly made me just want to get away from them.
My city has one of the most corrupt police departments statistically wise and the worst crime rate top 5 worst cities for not just homicides but unsolved cases and what not . I just want to be sure what exactly all my rights are and what probable cause actually is and stuff before I refuse to hand over my ID.
I have been pulled over so many times and litterally everything checks out nothing wrong here the cops just fish for shit in my city and are genuinely bad news I would like to know the full extent of the alabama laws and codes but I'm a dummy when it comes to these things .I will start uploading videos so you all can see once someone helps me fully understand my rights because if you think the stuff on youtube is bad ill show you all some wild stuff. I'm not some jerk but I sadly enough have a corrupt police department and need some legal protection from random bullshit stops for no reason at all and harassing the fuck out of me.
Bro after they ran my info it's all good they wanted to search my car I even said earlier my dad just died of cancer I can't sleep I'm just going to buy cigs so that's fucked up to fish for shit to find to arrest me . Like no reason to even search my car bro atleast I'm smart enough to know I can say no to any search and seizures but that's about all I know.

2024.05.15 08:58 naverlands finished the main game. i love it so much. my animal well review

i got to the 2nd manticore and found all eggs. looked up hint for the dog shrine (didn’t figure out the cat/wolf disk goes there. its so obvious lol) looked up hints for the 5 eggs i couldn’t find (3 of them needed the UV wand item and i didn’t have the mental strength to comb through the map for the 5th time) play time is about 20 hours.
i love the process of figuring things out and most of the main story stuff isn’t too hard. fav moments:
studying every pixel of the map and stamping “?” on any gap/discoloration of room edges. slowly, one by one solving all the “?”s i put down 😌
taking screenshots/notes on “codes” and going back to them later. poking around to find even more codes. (i only found the simple ones like the cat song code, fish wrap song, and the face emoji code)
trying out every item and figured out the kangaroo on my own was a proud moment.
one of the eggs i had to look up for was the egg where a trigger and a chinchilla are both behind a wall. you had to throw a firecracker to scare a chinchilla away to step on the trigger. that’s one thing i never did in my playthrough. cant willingly harm those cute babies in any way. i spend hours trying to use the flute on the other side of that blocked room but couldn’t find another opening. alway thought “next item will solve this for sure” 🥹
edit. one more moment was remembering lighting all candles but checking the candle room only show 8 out of 9 lit. when around the map 3 times until i figured out (now idk if this is a bug) one candle room’s candle UNLIT when i was back tracking with the remote. i though i only had to lit the candles once and passed by that room no less than 10 times. in the end i gave up and went to the candle and clicked “light” and it lit up again, with no matches in my inventory. that finally solved the missing candle thing. phew.

2024.05.15 08:49 casefilesofVJ The Love Tunnel

-Jack
Every kid growing up in Gympie in the early 90- 2000s knew about the Love Tunnel.
The love tunnel was located over the hill from the skatepark on the Riverbank. It was a massive storm water drain filled with spray paint and lore unbound throughout the generations; the glowing dick, whose name is the furthest in, the people who live inside, the bull shark that lived under the bridge just outside, all that fun stuff.
It collapsed in the late 2000’s in a flood and was eventually rebuilt, but it was all fancy, modern, safe and not the same. Back in the day it had decades of graffiti, crumbling cement, jagged metal pole framing bent and jutting out from the sides. You know, real character.
I remember when I was just a kid at the skatepark and I spotted a bunch of other kids at the metal grating of a drain. I joined them and gazed down a few metres to some older teenagers, they had trekked through this “love tunnel” under the massive hill all this way. Badass I thought. LEGENDARY.
I talked about it at school, about this mysterious “love tunnel”. It was in view from the road when I crossed the bridge everyday on my daily commutes from the backseat of mums car.
I would gaze down at the weir and see the top of the love tunnel, sliightly hidden from view by a hill. It fascinated me.
I learned all these mysterious tales; this person slept with this person there, someone took a dump at the entrance and some other girl stood in it and now she had a nickname, someone found needles, another found a homeless woman and she screamed at them. I was pumped for the next weekend. I was going to go see it for myself.
I saw too much.
Early Saturday morning I was riding my push bike through town and toward destination adventure! I started out at the skatepark, met up with a few of the regulars, a mix of 5-19y/o everyone on the half pipes and ramps had a code of comrady that I've never found in a public place anywhere else and you always had someone to hang with.
My usual crew slowly arrived through the morning, a bunch of other 10/11 year old misfits like myself and we headed on our first place on our journey, Hungry Jacks. Now we never technically stole, we found a loophole…
One or two would order a stunner meal, then we'd take privilege of the free refills and fill up the empty plastic 4L juice jugs that we all had prepped in our backpacks. Coke and red Fanta for days.
So we got our supplies and headed behind HJ, past the volleyball courts and headed down a bush track down to the river.
We walked along the banks to loop back down to where the bridge was, we passed a few teenagers fishing and a couple other groups of kids swinging from rope swings into the water or huddled in groups smoking things they shouldn't.
We eventually arrived at the weir and the stormwater drain that I had been so intrigued by. The Love Tunnel.
Climbing up the hill and seeing it up close when you were just a tiny human. It was like staring into the dark abyss of hell.
There was a small stream of water flowing out of the big grey cylinder and it was covered in multicolored quotes and crude pictures that was very eye opening at the time.
Our voices echoed as one by one we climbed up the grassy, eroding clay edging that was the makeshift path into the mouth that probably changed each time it rained. Each of us had pulled out clumps of grass that we thought were handholds. If you fell, you fell down an embankment of slippery jagged rocks poking out from the fast flowing river.
So were inside and began to walk a couple of metres in then around us the light abruptly disappeared into complete darkness. And I remember the way the sounds traveled you could feel it through your chest it was mesmerizing.
I remember bravely stepping into the darkness and taking five or six steps in. That thick darkness was something else, I ran myself back to that entrance and light, heart pounding from the adrenaline.
This turned into a game of who could go in the furthest. This stopped when one of the boys screamed out from the darkness in pain.
He was back in the light teary eyed a few moments later wet on one side and feigning a laugh. He'd slipped down and cut open his knee, it was hilarious. We teased him saying he was going to get gangrene and leprosy and a myriad of other ailments we had no idea actually was.
We decided to bail, we forgot torches, we didn't plan that part out too well, and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon being little menaces.
We met the next day with a game plan, we had an array of various sized torches, from small ones that didn't do anything, one of those giant rectangle ones that was our main light source, a couple of handheld ones, one which flickered and the other stopped working before we even got into the tunnel.
We got in safely and tested out our torches and began walking into the unknown. It was pretty much the same as before, but there were strange things, old makeshift bongs, shopping bags, random shoes, a shopping trolley, a mattress that was all moldy and rotted. I still to this day do not understand how people managed to get that shit in there.
We passed a section where someone had thrown a can of red paint all over the walls, the amount of those ‘S’ symbols was more terrifying.
We saw light up ahead, we were passing our first grate. It was kind of daunting looking up towards it. Even getting on each other's shoulders we couldn't reach. There was an array of broken beer bottles and glass was everywhere, under the grate was a dead snake amongst some debris.
We had a debate whether to go further, we ended up going on at least until the next grate, we came to a fork, one seemed like a smaller offshoot so we stuck to the bigger side.
There were more offshoots and we came to a part where the big pipes split off into three under another grate. We gazed up hoping to get an identifier of our location, but all we could see was blue. We called out to see if we could get anyone's attention.
“Cooooweeee” we shouted in unison, the sound echoing in all directions.
We were laughing and having a grand time until something shouted back, something that still shakes me to my core to this day.
Some yobbo crackhead chick in her fifties with this ratty pink tank top that was all stretched half showing her saggy titties. “What the fuck you think you little cunts doing down here.” This chick screeched at us through her few teeth or something along the lines of that. She just exploded at us with a barrage of threats.
We were shocked silenced moving together to make one mass.
One of the boys screamed when a skinny guy emerged from the darkness. He was covered in tattoos with scraggly hair and a beard, he was all crazy eyed and pantless.
Someone yelled out to run and it was all the motivation we needed.
We could hear them screaming and the guy ran after us, we heard glass shattering behind us, they must have thrown a bottle. We were legging it.
We got split up in our running, I fell down, tripping over some rubbish, one mate stayed back to help me, this left us without a torch. We came across the same kid who slipped over yesterday, he had slipped down again cutting open his other knee. He wore those with badges of honor at school, but he was blubbering like a baby at this point.
He had the flickering torch and it disoriented us more than helped, as it turned on and off every time he took a step. I thought we were lost but we found the other grate, then eventually the entrance.
The others were already climbed down, we were soon by their side panting in the grass and wiping away our tears so the others couldn't see.
We ran back over to the skatepark and immediately told every kid we saw.
That was the wildest shit we had ever experienced. Sure we’d seen crazy up on the street but to have it jump out at you from the shadows in a storm water drain was next level.
By that night one of the other boys had spilled to his parents about our escapades and a couple of other mums got phone calls, three got in trouble, two of us didn't, including me.
I never stepped foot back in that tunnel, I swam at the weir more times than I could count afterwards though and never encountered anyone else too sketchy.
I think only a year or two later I saw on the news people dying in storm water drains somewhere else in Aus, we never realized how dangerous they could be back then. Lol.
Every party or get together afterwards it was a crowd favorite to bring up. It was a good conversation starter and joined the tales amongst my friends of the weird shit that happens in ‘Helltown’.
Growing up and looking back they were probably just homeless drug addicts freaked out from a bunch of children's voices yelling out coooweee from the underground where they thought they were alone. That would have scared the shit outta me if I was them.
Good times.

2024.05.15 08:31 Makoil Help with C4/0d error codes

Build:
I’m currently getting an amber light along with a c4 error code but it changes to a 0d code after a little bit of time. I’ve been experiencing this issue for the past 2 weeks however if I turned the pc off and on a couple times it would clear so I was ignoring it until I had time to fix it. Today I can’t get it to post to my monitors at all so I’m going to try resetting the cmos but I’m not entirely sure how to do it from the motherboard itself so is there anyway I can get it to post?
I realize the amber light is an indication of my dram messing up but I’ve tried reseating my sticks and having both in each slot individually but I still get the 0d error. How would I know if it’s the sticks or the slots themselves?
Sorry if I’m sounding a lil dumb I’m not extremely tech savvy and all the research that I’ve done hasn’t really helped 😅
Please help 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Plot and Literary Devices:
One fateful night, a clandestine meeting in the dimly lit alleys of NeoArc beckoned Marcus into the clandestine underbelly of biopunk's potential. The dialogue between Marcus and a shadowed figure unfurled like a carefully crafted riddle, each word laden with intrigue and veiled warnings.
"Marcus, you possess the ingenuity to redefine the very fabric of humanity," murmured the shadowed figure, the words laced with both temptation and caution.
The plot thickened as Marcus found himself entangled in a web of intrigue, navigating a plot steeped in mystery and ethical quandaries. The external dialogue mirrored the city's pulsating energy, shrouded in the secrets of illicit experimentation, while his internal dialogue echoed with the reverberations of moral dilemmas.
Inner Dialogue: "Can scientific progress eclipse moral boundaries? Is the pursuit of advancement worth compromising ethical standards?"
External Dialogue: "I seek answers, not just to revolutionize science, but to wield its power responsibly," Marcus countered, the gravity of his words underscoring his ethical stance.
Development Through Dialogue:
Conversations with clandestine researchers, heated debates with colleagues, and ethical discussions within the corridors of the lab epitomized Marcus's journey. Each dialogue was a canvas upon which his character evolved, transforming from a zealous scientist fixated on progress to a vigilant guardian of ethical innovation.
The climax unfurled in a crescendo of moral reckoning—a pivotal moment where Marcus had to choose between the allure of unchecked progress and the moral imperative to wield biotechnology responsibly.
Conclusion:
As the neon-lit streets of NeoArc bathed in the city's nocturnal luminescence, Marcus emerged not just as a scientist but as a beacon of ethical responsibility within the realm of biopunk. His character arc encapsulated the fusion of scientific curiosity and moral consciousness, painting a portrait of growth that mirrored the city's ever-evolving skyline.
This journey through Marcus's inner and external dialogue, intertwined with plot and ethical dilemmas, encapsulated the essence of character development within the intricate tapestry of the biopunk genre.

2024.05.15 08:29 GIGANAttack AITA for taking equal credit for a project I didn't equally contribute to?

First time posting on here so I'm not sure how much this qualifies. Recently, our college had us do a project making use of database systems (like SQL and stuff). My partner is admittedly far more skilled than me, and proposed a very complicated project that I had zero experience with. Still, I was ready to learn and fully willing to do my part. He said he'd take care of all of the back-end stuff, and that I'd do the front-end. For those who don't know, front-end is essentially what everyone sees when you open a website, the UI for it, while back-end is everything that goes on behind the scenes.
Cut to a week before the project submission. I finished up what was a decent prototype for the front-end that mostly matched the blueprints I'd designed and shown him and that he'd agreed upon. My partner wasn't too happy though, saying that this was way too simple and that he expected something far more complex from me. I told him I'd never done this before, and this already took me days of work to finish. Still, I did what I could to make it look even better. I sent the code to him, and asked him if he needed any help in combining the two. He remained quiet for a day, until the literal night before the deadline, where he told me he'd work on it overnight.
The day after, he came to college and told me that the front-end didn't work with his code at all. It worked fine with the basic code I'd written for it, but for some reason trying to combine it with the far more complex back-end, it just wasn't working. He apologized for saying I didn't do enough, because it was harder than he thought. Keep in mind, I gave him a fully working code. I did not mess it up in any way in terms of what I was supposed to do.
We skipped our lectures and spent the next few hours trying to salvage it, our submission was in the afternoon. I even remade the front-end using simple HTML so it'd work, but time constraints and other issues meant that even that wouldn't work out. So in the end, he used a basic UI for the project. Essentially, he'd done the entire project while everything I'd done had to be thrown out because it wasn't working.
Despite this, our professor still liked the work we'd done, saying that the code itself was sound, and worked properly, so for that he'd give us both full marks. My friend didn't show any sort of emotion over that, but our other friends told us how he'd basically carried me on this. I don't think that's fair, because I did do a lot of work, but it just didn't see the light of day. Others are telling me to go and own up to the professor, because the marks aren't set just yet and can be subject to change. I refused, because I needed the good grade, and I did everything as I was supposed to.
So AITA for this? The partner himself doesn't seem to care, but did seem a little downtrodden over the whole experience.

2024.05.15 08:20 LeiFire3 Burnout (Help)

Bas hogaya, I'm tired, wohi same same nahi padha jata mere se ab, ik only 10 days bache hai but nahi hota mere se ab. Jan me paper accha gaya, I checked marks and I got excited because acche marks the but then i got 96%ile (27 jan) uske baad padhne ka mood he nahi laga because maine genuinely acche se padha tha I used to get 170-180 marks in allen mock tests. "2 saal itne mehenat karke bhi acche number nahi aaye toh aur 2 mahine karke kya hoga". My interest in studies dropped and I got 91%ile in April attempt. Fir sabne bola advanced ka padhne but I was so rusty ke marks he nahi aate the in tests, my interest to study plummeted even further. Ab lagta hai Jan ke baad kabhi padha he nahi. I gave baki ke entrance exam halfheartedly but I got CS in VIT Chennai. I like computer science, I think coding is fun but again its a vit. 2 saal pehele lagta tha IIT nahi toh NIT toh mil he jayega so I studied hard but it didn't give me the results I was hoping. So help me, Should I study for 10 more days (5 days for BITS)? I need to recollect all the knowledge from past 2 years and then work on it because abhi toh sab lightly le raha hu. Isn't fun for me but BITS ya IIT milne ke chances thode se badhege. (For current reference in last 2 Allen adv tests, they were easy but i got 135 155) Or start doing the cs stuff so I get a head start for VIT. I'll have fun with this but VIT. Thanks for reading, I hope sabka exam accha jaye and iss rat race se chutkara mile 🙏

2024.05.15 08:08 Maleficent-Round-617 30 days challenge to do things I simply hate:

WISH ME LUCK.
After 30 days, I will strike the things I was successful to do.
As I write this, my stress has already started to level up. This is the point where we either hide or face , and your next few months or years of life depends entirely on that one decision you took.

2024.05.15 07:46 slgal81 Minolta XG-E issue. Trying to diagnose the problem.

Hi! I could really use some help since I’m wondering what happened. I sold a Minolta XG-E SLR a month ago and I made sure to inspect the camera carefully before I shipped it out to the buyer, I even took videos testing all the functions and I never encountered any issues while it was still owned by me. A few days ago, the buyer messaged me saying the camera doesn’t work. Apparently they only started using the cam the day they messaged me that it doesn’t work, so they didn’t use it for about a month since they received it. They sent me some videos and I was able to confirm that there’s something wrong with the camera. The camera has power (battery check is working, LED display in the viewfinder when set to A mode is working), however the shutter won’t fire and the lever won’t advance all the way. The mirror is not locked up and to make things weirder, the shutter works during self timer mode, however the red LED on the front of the camera (the one used for the battery check) doesn’t blink, it only lights up. It’s supposed to blink. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I’m wondering what went wrong since I shipped it to the new owner without any issues a month ago. Could this be a capacitor issue and is it repairable? There’s only a few technicians who repair film cameras in my country and most aren’t that competent to be honest. Hopefully it’s not too hard to repair. :( Any help/insights will be much appreciated. Thank you!

2024.05.15 07:30 Agile-Wafer4089 CS61A... That's it?

Noob freshman just finished my first year, so take my ignorant questions lightly. I'm confused. CS61A was an okay class. Good teacher, good structure, etc. But in terms of content... is that it? That was my first time learning Python, and I feel like even though I learned a lot, I am nowhere near being able to create actual programs in Python from what I learned. I'm looking at actual python programs on random Github pages and the code contains so many features and concepts we barely even touched! For example, how to import libraries, how to code graphics, taking user input, using, "try except", etc. are things BARELY covered or not even discussed at all in the course. It is my understanding that this is the only CS course that teaches Python in the CS/EECS major coursework list. Then, comes focus on Java, C, etc. My main concern is... if these was one of the intro courses setting us up for internships and possible SWE jobs, why was it so surface-level? Teaching us how to solve math problems and create factorials was good practice, but what about creating actual programs in Python? Are we just supposed to learn that on our own? If the intention is to teach Python, shouldn't they teach it in its entirety? I don't think timing would be an issue either... Was this course structured like this deliberately? Pls explain

2024.05.15 07:30 account4ABTF Cocktail/Evening, Italian Villa, Need Help Choosing Appropriate Dress!

Cocktail/Evening, Italian Villa, Need Help Choosing Appropriate Dress!
I'm going to a destination wedding at a Tuscan villa this summer (the couple is American, and I expect most guests will be also). The dress code for women is "cocktail/evening" and suit (with or without tie) for men. I expect part of the wedding will be outside and it may be warm for pre-dinner drinks but will get cold afterward. Also, I will be traveling around the wedding and I am not great with an iron, so I prefer a dress that travels well.
I’ve tried on a bunch of dresses over the last week and would love feedback on them (ignore the shoes in most of them):
Dress 1 (red/black A-line): this is an old dress that I’ve worn to a number of weddings in the past, though I’ve never traveled with it
https://preview.redd.it/9fxs9agtyi0d1.jpg?width=1901&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d1c2cc3c5444b22c6a0b7ac08ec9eefeb216ee6
Dress 2 (pink/blue abstract pleated A-line): dress link here
https://preview.redd.it/5ibavpp1zi0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=563561505b2c98d53a965be2d9a9c6d22ddfdc27
Dress 3 (pink pleated one shoulder): dress link here; tried on in non-petite size, but would order in petite size, so would be a bit shorter and smaller
https://preview.redd.it/thnfcts4zi0d1.jpg?width=1428&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87fbc8d09c6320a035ddb259cb7766639b2d01e3
Dress 4 (tomato red pleated tiered maxi): dress link here; size is the correct size, but I don’t love the color, and would instead order in blue
https://preview.redd.it/2htv5yh8zi0d1.jpg?width=1636&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=417972afbe09999c684385611e6f25f0d6ec69b2
Dress 5 (red spaghetti strap A-line): dress link here; fits well through bust/shoulder, but might size up for a better fit through the hips
https://preview.redd.it/6dri3wwgzi0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf4bdb89efaea0e81704cacacaf646db04656084
Dress 6 (light blue floral spaghetti strap A-line): dress link here; this is the same dress and same size as the previous dress, so would also try sizing up
https://preview.redd.it/jbacyebmzi0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a30b889ea73d7d53269c2691d44965366dd791d
Dress 7 (teal satin corset dress): dress link here; definitely would need shapewear
Dress 8 (blue bodycon with fringe): dress link here; it obviously needs shape wear, but it feels a little tight and maybe too sexy (though it is comfy); I could try one size up, but it would be in the red (too sexy?)

2024.05.15 07:20 whiplash-willie Autel and 3.6 Pentastar Cam Data

TLDR: Trying to figure out which scan tool from Autel or others can show cam desired versus actual on 3.6 Pentastar.
Following up on some major seevice work at 171k miles on 2014 Wrangler 3.6 / auto and need some advice please:
Changed plugs, coils, injectors, oil cooler (dorman aluminum version) timing set (Melling) and cam phasers with new control valves (Standard Motor Products).
I don’t do this for a living but am definitely on the serious side of amateur / hobbiest. I’ve probably rebuilt to spec several dozen engines ranging from 1970’s Jaguars through FJ40’s lots of GM products in 4,6,8 cylinders, light truck and commercial diesels and powerstroke Diesels. I’ve never had a failure to start, run, or last. I have and followed factory service manual for the JK Jeep. I should have been able to do this!
Startup was rough but after a few attempts at cranking she bled the injectors and fired right up. Idles smoothly. Oil pressure 91-95 PSI cold and 25-30 hot at idle. Battery and alternator voltage good (don’t recall exact value). Within a 1/4 mile I was in limp mode with traction control and check wngine lights on. All of the codes are P000a-d. “Camshaft Slow Response”. Engine runs smooth through 5000+ rpm, but shifts are limited to 4th gear. So I drive to work 18 miles each way. Next day the lights go off and everything is golden. After 3-4 restarts, limp mode is back and wont go away!
Factory service manual says oil change, then replace pcm. Nope, not at those $$. I want to know what is wrong! So I do a bit of parts cannon…. New cam position sensors, although the fault seems to be on all 4 randomly. JSCAN only says “at least one fault has been counted in this position recently”. New crank position sensor. New cam VVT Solenoids. No Changes.
Then I start tracing grounds from the solenoids and get some intermittent high resistance. Ive had weird groundingg problems before, and I realized that my battery cable terminal negative side isnt clamping well. I can lift it off the post. The harness is generally crunchy and shitty from 10 years in desert heat, so I decided to re-do them.
Pulled the entire wiring harness off the engine and yanked the battery cables out. Replaced them with 2awg and bolt-down terminals. Continuity checked every ground terminal pin to pin. No fails. Same on the power side.
Fun side note, the 2014 Factory Wiring diagram has a major typo in showing incorrect ground terminal locations!
So, put that all back, pulled valve covers again, checked timing marks against youtube. It all seems right. I did not pull the timing cover again. I did clean the bits of metal powder off the camshaft tone rings with paper towel and brake clean. Restart engine. Starts instantly. Cam rattle for about 1 second, perfectly smooth idle. Same codes within 45 seconds.
So, i need a scan tool. Factory service manual says to check desired versus actual cam and crank positions. My old scan tool was PC based AutoEnginuity, but I hate the PC aspect and the subscription lapsed about 8 years ago. So im looking at Autel, but overwhelmed by all the options with very little info.
Can anyone tell me what level of Autel can show that live position versus desired position? Should I look elsewhere?
Mechanically, can you tell me if it is possible to overtorque an oil control valve? I keep wondering if the cam phasers could be dragging because they might be too tight? But if you grab the cam with a wrench, it moves easily and moves the phaser, so the lock pins are seated.
Cost isn’t a huge concern, especially if I can find a tool with longevity, but I cant use it for work, so it wont pay back / trying to avoid the Snap-off-in-you van. I can go a long way into trying to squeeze another 150k miles out of this rig before I lay down for a new Jeep at $75k plus!
Thank you for any and all advice and ideas. Brainstorming will help and I’m grateful for it.
