Being dear to oneself (SN 3.4)
Buddha statue in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India
At Sāvatthi.
Once, King Pasenadi of Kosala was sitting to one side, and he said to the Blessed One: "Here, Venerable Sir, when I was alone in seclusion, a reflection arose in my mind: 'Who are dear to themselves, and who are not dear to themselves?'"
Then it occurred to me, Venerable Sir: "Those who engage in misconduct by body, speech, and mind; they are not dear to themselves. Even though they might say, 'We are dear to ourselves,' still, they are not dear to themselves. Why is that? Because whatever a person who is not dear to themselves would do to someone who is not dear to them, they do just that to themselves. Therefore, they are not dear to themselves.
But those who engage in good conduct by body, speech, and mind; they are dear to themselves. Even though they might say, 'We are not dear to ourselves,' still, they are dear to themselves. Why is that? Because whatever a person who is dear to themselves would do to someone who is dear to them, they do just that to themselves. Therefore, they are dear to themselves."
"That is how it is, great king, that is how it is, great king. Those who engage in misconduct by body, speech, and mind; they are not dear to themselves.
"If one perceives oneself as dear, One should not associate with evil actions. It is not easy to achieve happiness, For one who does harmful actions.
Overcome by the end-maker (death), Having abandoned the human existence, What does one have as their own? What do they take when they go? What follows them like a shadow That never departs?
Both good and evil, Whatever a mortal does here, That is what is truly theirs, That is what they take when they go, That is what follows them Like a shadow that never departs.
Therefore, one should do good deeds, A collection for the future life. Merits are the support for beings, In the next world."

One last try at making a fun (but hopefully still competitive) and balanced 2000 point list for Ragnar’s Blackmane Great Company
I went back to Gladius Task Force for this one. I’m going for a good “all-comers” list that is balanced enough to take on hordes and heavies lists alike.
Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane, his Wolf Guard Battle Leader Sven Dragonfire (LT,) and his 6 Wolf Guard (Bladeguard Veterans) start in a Land Raider and advance towards midfield where they will charge out and begin cleaving through bodies.
Chaplain Strybjorn Grimskull leads another 6 Wolf Guard (Bladeguard Veterans) in a Land Raider with a nearly identical plan - bailing out to charge and start swinging.
A 6 man Assault Bolter Inceptor Squad also lays down some serious hate. Meteoric Descent if needed, as Ragnar’s planetary assaults go, dropping in strategically is something his company is known for.
Two 3 man Assault Bolter Inceptor units will be dropped in on objectives/secondaries as needed.
A pack of 5 Jump Pack Assault Intercessors (dressed as Skyclaws) are ready to do secondaries and slam into the ground with some mortal wounds on the charge.
A Phobos Librarian leading a unit of Infiltrators may either screen the backfield or infiltrate to help with objectives as needed.
Lastly, a Vindicator seemed like a good balance of firepower to be distributed among hordes, elites, or enemy armomonsters.
A few questions:
-do I have enough Anti-Tank/Anti-Monster between the two Land Raiders and the Vindicator?
-if not, should I replace the two Land Raiders with one Land Raider Crusader for both BGV squads and a couple Gladiator Lancers?
-are there any glaring mistakes or obvious holes to plug?
-do you see anything you’d do differently?
Thanks for all the help with these lists and again, all credit for the awesome Ragnar Blackmane model painted to match the Joytoy Ragnar behind him goes to u/paintvsplastic

2024.05.16 14:52 DiamLennis Should I consider buying 2019 Hyundai Sonata 14K miles with a rebuilt salvage title. $12,500. Told “basically brand new” (No pictures or full details yet. Will update post after)

I am in the unfortunate situation that I need to buy a car in the next two weeks in Columbus, OH before I move back to Indianapolis, IN. My friends dad owns a body repair shop with over 20 years of experience and said he has a guy offering the vehicle above. What are your thoughts? Mine are below:
Pros: - Only 14k miles for $12,500 - I would be very interested if salvage was due to theft - Both parents drive Hyundai (2018+ Sonata and Elantra) so we enjoy the rides and have “some” knowledge mechanically if Hyundai’s.
Cons: - More skeptical if salvage is due to accident. Why would they “total” a new car with 14k miles? To what extent was the damage? - Buying a car for $12,500 then struggling to get insurance doesn’t sit right with me. Does anyone know a company that will insure physical damage and liability for rebuilts? Not a dealbreaker though.
Otherwise, does anyone have any opinions on cars to look for? The struggle of shopping autotempest and Facebook marketplace has been real. Almost to the point of wanting to buy new but I know that is just because of impatience and wanting the “new technology” which I know I don’t value that much. This is another pro for this car, avoiding buying a new car. Thanks!

2024.05.16 14:49 Grouchy_Program2468 My Journey

I graduated high school in 2021 and started a double degree in psychology and criminology as i was always facinated by the way the body works, I quickly realised I had no interest in any possible job post grad so dropped out real quick. Thank god for that.
After that I continued working a retail job while I tried to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. During that process I took a slight leap and started a new job in a workshop for an engineering company. I was told about it through a family friend and was under the impression it was a labour type job so I was a hesitant at first but the pay looked nice so I went for it.
Got to the place for an inteview and discovered I would be welding by using/controlling fanuc robots(!😳!). I was completely blown away by the place, it was the first time I had actually seen robots in full use. The job was more than I ever though it would be, I was learning so much every day about how the 'real world' oporated, I was taught how to MIG and TIG weld, how to write programs for the robot (fanuc not python) and a whole bunch of awesome skills. I was going in every day with this new excitement to learn, and knowing my resume was getting better and better felt pretty darn good.
I had started to truly appriciate how fcn cool and insane todays world is and how much goes into all the simple stuff, I describe it as just being in pure awe. With this new found passion, came this drive drive to actually succeed in life, It was the moment I knew what i wanted to do for the rest of my life. Mechatronic engineering baby.
I applied for the course and am now a semester in, the content is manageable but still intimidating. I feel very strongly about sticking to this and genuinely giving it all I've got, I ordered an arduino and set up python on my computer to try get ahead and understand more about how it all functions.
I’m reaching out because I want to keep this momentum going. If you’ve got any tips, resources, or advice on what I can do to really succeed in this field, I’d love to hear it. I’m all in on this path and want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to excel. For anyone working as an engineer what would you do in my position right now?
Officially locked in, this will be my origin story 😂

2024.05.16 14:43 AltCocoAndCo Error Cocode [Coclones Origin Lorepost + TLDR]

Error Cocode [Coclones Origin Lorepost + TLDR]
/uw TLDR: A bunch of Cocos from alternate timelines and dimensions fall through a rift and land in this current world. They all have slightly different personalities and hobbies, and go their own separate ways. All of their stories are told on this account, while the original Coco's story remains on the main account. /rw
“And… hah… why are we hiking up a mountain for this?”
“Because his ability will affect basically anything near him. Out here, his powers won’t bring about too much chaos… Thank you for bringing those fruits here, Coco. It means a lot.”
The two women, dressed in black and white, stood out like a sore thumb amidst the greens and browns of the forest leading up the mountain. Coco trailed behind Alentu as they ventured higher, her exhaustion quite apparent compared to the latter’s calm and collected steps. Though their physical capabilities seemed miles apart and their gaits completely unalike, there was an invisible harmony to their movement. This ironic harmony extended to their clothing, their outfit and hair colors the exact inverse of each other. In Coco's hand was a basket of various fruits, freshly picked to be delivered to a certain someone.
Today was an unfortunate day for the Ventures. One where each would 'pay the price' for their position in the family. All except Alentu, who took it upon herself to look after her family at their weakest and most vulnerable. She had, by chance, also ran into Coco that day, who she had forged an unexpected bond with, one almost unimaginable to anyone who knew her well. They agreed to meet at the outskirts of the forest to bring some goods to Error, who had isolated himself in a cave atop one of the mountains within the grove.
It was late afternoon, and they were now halfway to the peak where the cave resided. They had walked uphill for well over an hour, and the incline only grew steeper. To try and ignore the numbness of her feet, Coco tried to strike up a conversation.
Coco: "So Alentu, do you... T-think they'll... accept us together?"
Alentu: "Accept?" She giggled. "I was the head of the Venture family long before many of the rules were in place, so you have nothing to worry about. You won't go forgetting about me anytime soon, even if you don't officially marry into the family. And after today, you'll see why I don't want you becoming a Venture, for your own sake."
Coco: "Ah, yeah... I-I was more meaning, like... Would your family... Like me?"
Alentu: "Hmm... It'd be hard to tell without you talking with them one on one. But if we're talking about Error, you've got nothing to worry about, Coco. He certainly isn't as scary as he looks, even today!"
Coco: "R-right. Well that's good... To be honest, I have been a bit nervous about it all... Not just meeting your family, but telling them we're p-"
Alentu: ahem "M-maybe not that part yet... One thing at a time... Let's just focus on first impressions and making sure he's doing alright, okay?"
Coco: "Oh, sure- HUH?"
Coco's exclamation made them both stop in their tracks. Alentu turned her head quickly, but Coco's finger pointed her gaze ahead of them to a nearby waterfall, or what would be one, if it hadn't been flowing up into the sky. That wasn't all. Loose rocks and trees floated around the mountain's peak, birds flew through the air backwards, and the stone faces of the mountain were jagged and blurry. It was as if they had walked into an unstable simulation of reality. Coco stood in shock as she tried to comprehend what she was looking at, but a tap on her shoulder brought her attention back. Alentu signaled to keep walking and stay cautious, taking her hand and leading her through the lawless, almost artificial world they had entered.
As they neared the peak, the anomalous sights grew more and more common, and the terrain more and more hazardous. They carefully climbed the last incline, and atop the mountain awaited a beautiful mess of nature. A sea of flowers and grass covered the ground, the variety of which was exotic and almost timeless. The local flora was still intact, but among it grew untamed vines, metallic displays that mimicked plants, and all kinds of life that had never once grown in that area. There were also several shrines in the area, each having the same features, colors and style, but of completely different makes and materials.
Coco: "What the... I-is this what Error is capable of? Holy shit..."
Alentu: "Yes... It's just as bad with everyone else... Having such little control over such strong powers... It's why today's so important for me. I have to protect everyone..."
Coco: "Alentu... I-I'm so lost in what... What this is. Everything feels so... broken..."
Alentu: "...We should head into the cave. Watch your step, and whatever you do, do NOT go near any smoke. Understand?"
Coco: "I do..."
Alentu wrapped her arm around Coco and helped her across the dense foliage. They soon reached the cave, and in it layed a blurry mess of static and black smoke. Heeding the warning, Coco kept her distance, averting her gaze from the eyesore within, while Alentu called out into the darkness.
Alentu: "Error? Are you okay?"
Error: Am I...
Alentu: "Error! What's wrong?"
Error: Am I so hideous you have to look away!?
Alentu: "...Seriously?"
Error: "Sorry, sorry! He laughed. Just wanted to lighten the mood. You've had a busy day, haven't you Alentu? Oh... And who's this you've brought with you? Do ya live around these parts? Sorry about the mess, everything will be back to normal by midnight! Well, probably..."
Coco: "O-oh, I don't... I-I came here with Alentu to bring you some food. S-she's my... My..."
Alentu: "Coco's my wife."
Error: "Oh, I see! Wait... WHAT? You? Wife? After all this time?? Oh, I see! Getting me back for my joke-"
Alentu: "I'm not joking. It won't be official, but... We both found it in our hearts to share our love with another."
Coco blushed from the sudden introduction, having never heard her say those words in public, and while Alentu had a confident demeanor and tone, even she looked a bit anxious. The cave was silent apart from the crackling of the rifts forming in reality, as no one really knew what to say next. After a long pause, Error finally came to process what she had said.
Error: "I hope Conat's watching... I think he'd be happy knowing his wife found love again... As am I."
Alentu: "Thank you... I hope he is watching, too..."
Error: "Now, I would say celebrations are in order, but... Well, I'm sure you know why I can't hand ya a cold one. I am, however, very hungry, so let's have a little picnic, shall we? That'll give us the chance to get to know each other and such...
Coco: O-oh, s-sure! I'd be happy to!
Alentu: "But I really should... Ah, I've already checked up on the others at least once today... Alright, but I need to be back by evening, for everyone else's sake. Today's not a day I can slack off, you know."
Error: "You got it, ma'am! Nice and quick. Now, let's see if I can peel an orange or two without sending it to another dimension!" He chuckled lightheartedly.
Coco and Alentu took a seat at the entrance of the cave, sitting in a patch of stone untouched by the smoke. They unpacked their basket of fruit, dividing up the softer fruits between the two, while rolling the ones with peels to Error for him to reach himself. Most of the food he touched was whisked away through time and space, or replaced with another version too unripe or rotten to eat. He did, however, experience the opposite as well, having fresh fruit pop into his hands out of nothingness. It was at least enough to not go hungry for the remainder of his voluntary exile.
During their picnic, they chatted about how Coco and Alentu met, skipping over the more intimate details, and sharing stories from their life to break the ice. Everyone got along well, and though Error couldn't even be seen, it was clear he greatly valued the company. Sooner than anyone would've liked, the banter and fruits were no more, and the time to leave was upon them. The sun had fallen low enough to be visible from the cave, and the breeze began to pick up. Coco began to pack the leftover peels and stems back into the basket as Alentu stood up, walking into the sunlight as she stretched.
Alentu: "Ah~ Alright, it's best I head back now... I hope you don't get too cold when night comes, Error. It feels like it's gonna be a windy night..."
Error: "Oh, don't worry about me. Thank you for the food. Especially you, Coco, you don't know how happy I am to meet you!"
Coco: "Oh, you're fine! I share what I grow at home with everyone! It was nice to meet you, too!"
Error: "Pleasure is all mine... Damn, I can feel the breeze even in here... The breeze... THE BREEZE! GET OUT!"
Alentu's eyes widened, turning around and running towards the cave, reaching out for Coco.
Alentu: "COCO! RUN! The wind is gonna push the smoke into us!"
Coco looked in horror at the floor under her, their unaffected safe spot having shrunk to just the space she occupied. Black smoke began to blow around the cave, trapping her in a hazy web. She looked to Alentu, her eyes desperate and in disbelief as her heart sank. What would happen if she got touched? Would she disappear forever? Would she be thrown into another time and space with no way home? Would she be transformed beyond recognition? She screamed in terror and made a run for Alentu, ducking low and reaching out for her. Their hands stretched out for each other, but just as they almost touched, a veil of smoke covered her vision. The smoke had consumed her.
When she opened her eyes, she was standing on a bridge in an endless void. There was no land in sight whichever way she turned her head, and the sky was a starry night completely alien to her. Her fear made her too scared to open her mouth, let alone yell for help. She looked down, and saw her reflection rippling in the darkness... No, multiple reflections. The void became a sea of her form. Terrified, she stumbled back, but tripped over the rope suspending the bridge, causing her to fall in.
As she fell, she felt her body get caught up in a mass of limbs and hair. These body parts were connected to her reflections, and as one began to scream, the rest followed. They fell together for what felt like forever, but as Coco looked up, she saw the other countless reflections looking back at her, slowly fading from view. She closed her eyes, accepting what was likely her demise. Eventually, she hit the bottom, but instead of the cold impact of death, she fell into a warm embrace, and instead of falling straight down, she fell forwards.
Alentu: "Coco! Coco, are you o- AH!"
Coco's eyes jolted open, and before her was Alentu, holding her like she never wanted to let her go again. Their hug was tight, but behind her black hair, she saw the familiar sight of the corrupted mountaintop.
Coco: "A-Alentu... A-am I still here with you?"
Alentu: " Y-yes! T-thank god you're safe, if you had disappeared for good- I-" Alentu's eyes were teary, and her voice unusually shaky. "You only vanished for a second, but that was one of the scariest moments in my life... B-but now..."
Coco: "Alentu, I-I was so scared, I-I don't know what happened..."
Error: "That's a relief... It seems only your jacket was lost... but... Miss Coco... Please turn around."
As instructed, while still hugging Alentu, she turned her head to look behind her, and realized the nightmare she experienced really did happen. The reflections she saw were real. The bodies she got tangled up with were even more real, and they were all right behind her.
https://preview.redd.it/g7j91mvnas0d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=2448c5e661a34adb003dfa39743f611ed0cfb6a9
One by one, her mirror images began to climb up from their dog pile. They were all as confused as she was, though they didn't seem to recognize where they were. Getting a good look at them, she could see that they were almost exactly alike, at least in terms of appearance. Once they all realized they were looking at replicas of each other, their panic ensued.
"W-what the fuck is this? God damnit, did I drink too much?"
"Ah- Mom? Where are you? Where did you go? W-why am I here?"
"Mimics? Damnit, what have I gotten myself into?"
While their appearances were quite similar, they all seemed to have slightly different personalities and reactions. Some were confrontational and agitated, some were lost and scared, and some were speechless, still trying to understand what happened. The original one stayed in Alentu's arms, holding her close as she watched the unbelievable scene unfold.
Error: "I see... It appears that when Coco contacted the smoke, she became a bridge to other versions of herself in different times and dimensions."
Alentu: "W-what... S-so, t-this Coco is fine, b-but all of these others have..."
Error: "Have been snatched away and thrown here, it seems. All from different times and dimensions..."
Alentu: "And these other Cocos... They can't go back, can they?"
Error: "Not by me. Safely, anyways..."
The crowd of altworlders began to yell and shout at the voice in the cave.
"What the hell? You brought us here, but you can't bring us back?"
"Shit! I have to get back home, now! I don't care if I need to give my soul to a chronomancer..."
"T-this is the future? O-Or the past? Or even a d-different dimension?? No, that can't be!"
Error: "Hey, wait a second! If a bunch of clones start running off on their own-"
"I'm not a god damn clone!"
One by one, they ran away, each resolved to accomplish something different. The sudden crowd poured down the unstable mountain, until only one remained, staring back at Coco and Alentu in disbelief.
Alentu: "And you?"
AltCoco: "Alentu... T-thank god you're here, too?"
Alentu: "Hm? Ah, so we've met in your world... Since you're here, I think we need to figure out how we're gonna fix this mess. Please, come with me..."
They moved to sit by one of the many shrines near the mountain path. Alentu then led a discussion between the three, asking the other Coco what she remembered about her own world's history. Her description appeared to describe a similar reality to their own, but at an earlier point in time. As such, the events that lead her life were different, and she was only able to recognize Alentu. The two forms of Coco began to discuss more specifics about their own lives.
AltCoco: "Huh, s-so you're getting married to someone else, and have a family of your own already... B-but, you're also with Alentu?"
Coco: "Yes... But I'm honestly amazed to hear how differently my life could have been if I was born only a few decades earlier..."
Alentu: "Where you only met me..."
AltCoco: "Yes- A-and Alentu, y-you're almost exactly the same as the one I know... I-it's like I'm talking to the same person. Everything we did together matches up too... B-but now she's..."
Alentu: "I'm sorry, Coco... There's not much we can do. I still love you, but..."
AltCoco: "Wait! Please! Let me stay with you, Alentu! E-even though we're from different worlds, you're still the same woman I love! Please..."
Alentu: "But this world's Coco is..."
All three fell silent as an uncomfortable truth settled in: There were two Cocos, but only one Alentu. That wasn't even mentioning the fact that even more were out there in the world, with absolutely no way to control their actions, however reckless they may be. Despair began to creep onto the altworlder's face, tears falling from her eyes as she began to accept her cruel fate. Coco's own face was clouded deep in somber thought, but after gathering her resolve, she spoke up.
Coco: "I... I have a proposal, but... You might not like it, Alentu. And it doesn't really solve our other problem..."
Alentu: "We're already in a shitty situation. Please, just tell me."
Coco: "My family at home needs me. I'm about to have little Iza, and... Since this Coco was ripped away from her own family... Well, I don't think she should be deprived of that joy... You should also be able to spend time with your kids..."
AltCoco: "Y-you want me to raise this Alentu's kids instead of you?"
Coco: "And... Stay with her... Be a good wife to her, so we all can get a happy ending..."
Alentu: "But Coco- A-are you saying you want her to take your place beside me? But that would mean you, yourself, wouldn't be with me... This hurts you more than any of us!"
Coco: "I suppose so... I do really care for you, but... I'm the only one that can be there for Mikhail and the kids I planned to raise with him. If we want to spend as much time as possible with family, you, Alentu, are the only family this Coco has. I don't want either of the people I care about to feel like I'm not there for them, so..."
AltCoco: "I... I understand... If you're really okay with it, both of you, then... I'd be so happy... I'm honestly scared to think about what I left behind, but, if I can be with Alentu, no matter what time or place..."
Alentu: "I'm okay with that... This feels... strange, but... I think it's for the best for each of our families. I love you, Coco, but I know your family needs you. I wanted to make it work despite that... I didn't want to lose you, but-"
Coco: "Don't think like that, Alentu! Let's not look at this as a mistake, but a blessing... One that lets everyone find their own happiness. You didn't lose me! Instead, you'll now be able to spend all the time you like with your love! I want to protect your smile no matter what, and leaving it in the hands of someone I know will bring you happiness... I can't possibly be sad about that."
AltCoco: "I agree... It means neither of our families will worry... This world's Coco can be with her family, and I can become yours, just as it was before with both of us. I want to make this work, for everyone's sake!"
Alentu: "Hah... Coco, that's why I love you. You always know how to cheer me up, and make me feel loved. When I'm with you, my worries always seem to melt away... I accept your proposal. You're both my lover, so I could never look at either of you any differently. To a bright future with our families..."
Alentu pulled the two in for a big hug, and gave a kiss to this world's Coco. The two shared their goodbyes and well wishes to each other before Coco sat down in front of her counterpart, a happy look on her face that inspired the other to brighten up. Alentu stood up and ruffled both of their hair, leaving the two by themselves as she waited nearby. The Cocos then turned to each other, smiling as they shook hands.

In the vast landscape of technological advancements, semiconductor chips stand as the bedrock of modern innovation. From smartphones to autonomous vehicles, these tiny components power our digital world. However, the journey of chip manufacturing has long been dominated by a select few countries, leaving others to catch up. India, with its burgeoning tech industry and skilled workforce, stands poised to become a significant player in this domain. Let's delve into the future of chip manufacturing in India and explore the potential it holds.
The demand for semiconductor chips has been skyrocketing, fueled by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G networks. However, recent global events, such as the chip shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions, have highlighted the vulnerabilities of relying on a handful of countries for chip manufacturing. India, recognising the strategic importance of semiconductor production, is gearing up to capitalise on this demand surge.
The Indian government has launched several initiatives to bolster the country's semiconductor ecosystem. The ambitious "Make in India" campaign aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub across various sectors, including electronics and semiconductors. Additionally, schemes like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme offer incentives to companies for domestic manufacturing, further enticing investment in the semiconductor sector. These efforts have attracted major players like Intel, Qualcomm, and Samsung, signaling confidence in India's potential as a chip manufacturing destination.
Building a robust semiconductor industry requires not only capital investment but also advanced infrastructure and research capabilities. India has been making strides in this regard, with initiatives to establish semiconductor fabrication units (fabs) and research facilities across the country. Collaborations between academia, industry, and government bodies are fostering innovation and skill development in semiconductor design and manufacturing. Here at NCU we have expertise in VLSI Design. A large number of alumni are placed in companies like Apple, ST Microelectronics, Cadence, and Synopsis. A good expertise from alumni helps students, who wish to pursue careers in chip designing. Furthermore, partnerships with international semiconductor giants bring valuable expertise and technology transfer, accelerating India's journey toward self-sufficiency in chip production. The international partnerships are also explored to further enhance the student's skills in chip manufacturing.
While the prospects for chip manufacturing in India are promising, several challenges lie ahead. These include infrastructure limitations, skilled workforce availability, regulatory hurdles, and global competition. Overcoming these obstacles will require sustained efforts from all stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and educational institutions.
However, amidst these challenges lie abundant opportunities. India's vast talent pool in engineering and IT, coupled with a thriving startup ecosystem, can drive innovation in semiconductor design and software development. Leveraging India's strengths in software and services, semiconductor companies can explore new business models, such as chip design services and intellectual property (IP) licensing.
The future of chip manufacturing in India holds immense promise, driven by rising demand, government support, and collaborative efforts. By investing in infrastructure, nurturing talent, and fostering innovation, India can emerge as a significant player in the global semiconductor industry. As the world moves towards an increasingly digital future, India stands ready to make its mark on the semiconductor landscape, shaping the technologies that will define tomorrow's world.

2024.05.16 14:18 Hackelhack Avoid SuperFeast supplements - Shady intimidation tactics

I inquired for a heavy metal report regarding a supplement from SuperFeast a while ago. few days pass and I get it. Things would have been fine with this - if it wasn't for one simple fact.
In the footer of the email was a disclaimer. Ill paraphrase it since I'm not allowed to share anything attached to or in the email itself. No, I'm not kidding. Including The heavy metal report itself.
I asked a few friends about the matter. They agreed that it could be just technical law jargon that in this case, would not include the redistribution of the heavy metal report itself. As it stands, they *show one* on the SuperFeast website in a way to honor transparency to customers. This made me feel like it was clearly public knowledge.
For this reason, I responded to the email basically asking about this. They confirmed that I have "no right" to share this report with anyone.
I have no idea how common place this practice is - but other reputable sellers like nootropics depot show all heavy metal reports without this declaimer. Even more so, they have them uploaded alongside listings.
For this reason, Avoid SuperFeast supplements at all costs. This report that was given to me could be outright fraudulent, and any amount of heavy metals could be inside it. Till these reports are free to share then it will stay that way.
If anyone has any experiences like this, please talk about it in the comments. These companies to not deserve trust if they are not willing to be transparent about things we are putting into our bodies.
Also, mind the formatting. I typed this in word and it seems to be odd...

2024.05.16 13:59 BellaRose1028 Husband is going to have Vasectomy, how long until he can lift again?

Hello my 32F Husband 31M and I are child free by choice and plan to keep it that way forever. We have been together 12 years and have decided that this is the best option for us. Surprisingly my husband was the one that brought up getting it done and did the initial research. I want to support him however I can so I am doing some research. I know it will be a relief but the only question I have is how long until he can go back to work? The doctors say within a couple days, but they aren’t taking into account that he is an HVAC technician so he is working with his body and heavy lifting every day. The doctor said maybe within a week, but I’m curious if anyone on here works with heavy lifting and how long it really took you to be able to go back to work? We’re trying to plan how much time he’s going to need since he works for a smaller company that extended time off is not really an option and it’s not like there’s any light or desk work he can do lol thank you!
TLDR- husband is considering a vasectomy and has a job that requires a lot of heavy lifting. How long will he really need off post vasectomy?

2024.05.16 13:06 Puginator Meta slapped with child safety probe under sweeping EU tech law

Facebook parent company Meta on Thursday was hit with a major investigation from the European Union into alleged breaches of the bloc’s strict online content law over child safety risks.
The European Commission, the EU’s executive body, said in a statement that it is investigating whether the social media giant’s Facebook and Instagram platforms “may stimulate behavioural addictions in children, as well as create so-called ‘rabbit-hole effects’.”
The Commission added that it is concerned about age verifications on Meta’s platforms, as well as privacy risks linked to the company’s recommendation algorithms.
“We want young people to have safe, age-appropriate experiences online and have spent a decade developing more than 50 tools and policies designed to protect them,” a Meta spokesperson told CNBC by email.
“This is a challenge the whole industry is facing, and we look forward to sharing details of our work with the European Commission.”
The Commission said that its decision to initiate an investigation comes of the back of a preliminary analysis of risk assessment report provided by Meta in September 2023.
Thierry Breton, the EU’s commissioner for internal market, said in a statement that the regulator is “not convinced [that Meta] has done enough to comply with the DSA obligations to mitigate the risks of negative effects to the physical and mental health of young Europeans on its platforms.”
The EU said it will carry out an in-depth investigation into Meta’s child protection measures “as a matter of priority.” The bloc can continue to gather evidence via requests for information, interviews, or inspections.
The initiation of a DSA probe allows the EU to take further enforcement steps, including interim measures and non-compliance decisions, the Commission said. The Commission added it can also consider commitments made by Meta to remedy its concerns.
Meta and fellow U.S. tech giants have been increasingly finding themselves in the spotlight of EU scrutiny since the introduction of the bloc’s landmark Digital Services Act, a ground-breaking law from the European Commission seeking to tackle harmful content.
Under the EU’s DSA, companies can be fined up to 6% of their global annual revenues for violations. The bloc is yet to issue fines to any tech giants under its new law.
In December 2023, the EU opened infringement proceedings into X, the company previously known as Twitter, over suspected failure to combat content disinformation and manipulation.
The Commission is also investigating Meta over alleged infringements of the DSA related to its handling of election disinformation.
In April, the bloc launched a probe into the firm and said it’s concerned Meta hasn’t done enough to combat disinformation ahead of upcoming European Parliament elections.
The EU is not the only authority taking action against Meta over child safety concerns.
In the U.S., the attorney general of New Mexico is suing the firm over allegations that Facebook and Instagram enabled child sexual abuse, solicitation, and trafficking.
A Meta spokesperson at the time said that the company deploys “sophisticated technology” and takes other preventive steps to root out predators.

2024.05.16 13:06 MrHolte Accessing the Power BI REST API?

Hi all, hoping you can help as I'm having trouble...
I'm using python to try and programmatically get the refresh history of a dataset as documented here.
I've created an app registration in Azure's Entra ID, have given it the API permission of Power BI Service > Dataset.Read.All
Using the tenant id, client id and client secret of the app registration, I'm trying to get an access token like this:
def get_access_token(): tenant_id = 'tenant_id_goes_here' client_id = 'client_id_goes_here' client_secret = 'client_secret_goes_here' headers = { 'Content-Type': 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' } body = { 'grant_type': 'client_credentials', 'client_id': client_id, 'client_secret': client_secret, 'scope': 'https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/api/.default' } response = requests.post(f'https://login.microsoftonline.com/{tenant_id}/oauth2/v2.0/token', headers=headers, data=body) access_token = response.json().get('access_token') print(access_token) return access_token
Whilst that works to get an access token, using it doesn't work to get the refresh history, which I'm doing like this:
def get_powerbi_refresh_history(): access_token = get_access_token() dataset_id = 'dataset_id_goes_here' refresh_history_url = f'https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/datasets/{dataset_id}/refreshes' headers = { 'Authorization': f'Bearer {access_token}', 'Content-Type': 'application/json' } response = requests.get(refresh_history_url, headers=headers) refresh_history = response.json()['value'] return refresh_history
I keep getting a 403 forbidden error which suggests that my access_token doesn't contain the right permissions to access that endpoint.
When I decode the access_token it doesn't say anything about scopes or roles.
On the documentation website linked above, there's a 'try it' feature. When I log in using my company credentials that generates a token there. If I copy it and use that in my function to get the refresh history, then it works fine.
I've checked, and triple checked the app permissions in Azure and it's definitely got the permission that the documentation says but I just can't get it to work to produce an access token that will work with getting the data.
The same app registration also has permissions for the ServiceHealth.Read.All of the Microsoft Graph API and that works fine using this same approach.
If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

The morning after the wedding, Luigi woke up with a splitting headache. Rising to grab some pain meds, a wave of dizziness practically overwhelmed him, leaving him struggling to stay upright and cursing his luck. He knew this awful feeling all too well.
His old nemesis the Bloaty Head virus had returned to try and ruin another New Year’s Eve.
https://preview.redd.it/1458bwhjqr0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5ee7fb33d95545faacd3a00756855ebdbf3a931

Luigi chased a cocktail of vitamins and meds with some juice, then texted Uncle August that he couldn’t do New Year's Eve at the arts center after all.
Resigned to a night of feeling ill at home, he pulled out his pre-work for next semester and prepared to power through his discomfort when his phone dinged twice in quick succession. He opened it to find texts from Noemi and Amaya, both wishing him a Happy New Year.
He replied that they were likely to have a better New Year then he was, since old man Bloaty Head had decided to pay him a visit.
https://preview.redd.it/fu9vvqrjqr0d1.png?width=1212&format=png&auto=webp&s=9f986fb6ee63dff98930269d3f5441b25b84230e

His device immediately chimed again with get well wishes. Noemi’s invitation to “come be sick with some company at my place“ made Luigi's heart swell with gratitude. It felt doubly nice next to Amaya’s shorter: “let me know when you aren’t contagious!” He couldn’t blame her, she’d just gotten over a nasty virus herself, but by contrast spending the day with Noemi instead of moping in his lonely room sounded fantastic.
Thanking her and telling her he'd be right over Luigi tucked his homework into his inventory, spun into his cold weather clothes, and slowly made his way down the stairs and over to the nearby teleport that would take him into the city.
Noemi greeted him at the door of her apartment. Ignoring the rash that had bloomed across his body she gently kissed his cheek in greeting before leading him to a desk that was setup in the spare bedroom to continue his studies while she went into the kitchen to make them some lunch.
https://preview.redd.it/13xctc2kqr0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=23f1c2b1d1fb3602fadc015ac2b9bba6a2d83640

As Luigi had learned in his youth, Bloaty Head was no joke. Despite his best efforts the illness soon overwhelmed him.
With his brain refusing to process any new information he gave up studying and went to find Noemi in the kitchen. She was just serving up big bowls of a thick and hearty stew onto a small table and waved him to a seat with a lovely view of the city below.
As they ate, he told her how his papa would always make a big pot of his special family recipe Matzo Ball soup when anyone felt under the weather. With cheerful frankness, he went on to say that nothing could ever beat that cure all, but her lovely rice-based dish was nevertheless quite tasty.
Noemi chuckled, thanking him for the compliment. She told him that her parents had split when she was young, so it was always a toss-up which of their homes in Chestnut Ridge she'd end up in on a sick day. Her dad could make a mean grilled cheese, but her mom wasn't much of a chef, preferring to spend her time with her beloved horses over "slaving away" in the kitchen. That soup sounded better then the options she’d had.
https://preview.redd.it/n2cc3pdkqr0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=adc507d70f2fd4c1692d6368d544bed58650bde0

After the meal Noemi suggested they settle on the couch to watch some TV. A spirited debate about what to watch followed. Luigi thought nothing could compare to the adventures of Captain Lancaster while Noemi said that she didn't hold a candle to the suave and daring Captain Roberts.
Finally, they agreed to a "captain vs captain" face off, each picking their favorite episode with the goal of convincing the other how good it was.
https://preview.redd.it/i2v8qjnkqr0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=44181aec8e72989eb8a7b8b46a315cfd65df46b2

Luigi insisted on watching his show first. The captain and her crew had barely had time to make landfall on the planet they'd been summoned to assist before Noemi found herself being used as a pillow, her sick companion having laid his head on her shoulder and drifted off to sleep.
Noemi briefly closed her own eyes, smiling at the comfortable weight of his body curled up against hers before turning her attention back to the TV.
There were certainly worse ways to wait for the new year to roll around than snuggling with a friend, watching her second favorite sci-fi series.

2024.05.16 12:50 Downtown_Zookeeper Final Update - MLM and Plexus party in my work locker

Hello friends!
Over the last few weeks I posted about my coworker who decided to throw out my personal items from my locker and replace it with Plexus garbage.
For those of you wanting more context start here:
TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of cancer, eating disorders and body dysmorphia.
Part 1: https://www.reddit.com/antiMLM/s/DKtg3tPztv
Part 2 : https://www.reddit.com/antiMLM/s/W3mDFhdZOt
———————————
So on to the finale!! It’s a long one!!
Quick recap: I am a night shifter security guard and have struggled with EDs the majority of my life and am very self conscious about my body and how I look. I keep crystal light and some snacks in my locker for when I need a little pick me up mid shift or if I want some juice instead of water. My personal items were removed from my locker and thrown out and replaced with Plexus weight loss garbage.
Buckle up everyone, here we go!!
I was paid back for the stuff she threw out. She handed me the money in front of our manager who for the record was not impressed she had to be on site at 8pm to make sure it was done. Our manager is a no-nonsense Slavic woman who hails from the same region I do - so I’m very familiar with the attitude 😂. So needless to say, having to show up at site on a Tuesday at 8pm when she’s an early to bed early to rise type was already a bad thing.
If there’s anything I can say as a take away for anyone in a similar situation at their workplace - be brave and be confident in reporting it. Document everything in relation to the MLM crap - paper trails are your friend. If you’re unsure of how to approach the topic with a manager find someone you trust and are comfortable with (preferably an outside source. Eg: mom or dad, sibling, friend) and have a mock-manageemployee-conversation with them about the situation. I know not all managers are good and some are absolute crap - report it and then send an email to them with a “just to recap what we spoke about on _______ date at _____ time.” If that goes nowhere, most companies have an anonymous whistle blower hotline - call them if you’re comfortable doing so.
Good luck to anyone dealing with this!

2024.05.16 12:34 criduchat1- Eloise, they can never make me hate you

After having just finished s3 part 1, they seem to be leaning hard into the narrative that Penelope is a hurt lamb that does little wrong while Eloise is “cruel” and unfiltered. the scene where Colin yells at Eloise for telling Cressida about the lessons is absurd because nobody in the ton knows Eloise is actually keeping the biggest secret of them all for Penelope, but sure let’s all keep piling on Eloise
Still, Eloise, while it’s so obvious the writers have no more creative bones in their bodies but to make you the sacrificial villain of the season (the part 2 trailer certainly doesn’t help), I will never hate you.

Pascha; a Reminiscence from the GULAG
Should at any time we feel ourselves to be alone, or for the secular world to be so overwhelming and powerful as to render spiritual life redundant, we can reflect on the difficulties of our predecessors and be inspired by their cheerfulness and joy in the face of tremendous privations.
As mentioned before, the mid 1920’s was a period of ferocious attacks upon the Church by the Bolsheviks, both clergy and laity. Many of the faithful were executed or imprisoned in the Gulag for extended periods on nonsensical charges. The Solovetsky Island concentration camp (Solovki for short), formerly a remote monastery on an island in the White Sea region of Russia’s far north, was reserved for particularly “recalcitrant” prisoners, in particular priests from throughout the Soviet Union, including the newly annexed Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic. Conditions were brutal and fatalities commonplace.
https://preview.redd.it/lps1o3d7gr0d1.png?width=615&format=png&auto=webp&s=243036d04c954daffcdf83c146bb3184b532d25d
This letter from Bishop Maxim of Serpukhov, a Russian priest, is a moving testament to the resilience and cheerfulness of interned clergy during tremendous oppression. The Paschal context of his letter is poignant for us this week.
At Solovki we had several secret Catacomb “churches,” but our “favorites” were two: the “Cathedral Church” of the Holy Trinity, and the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The first was a small clearing in the midst of a dense forest in the direction of the “Savvaty” Assignment Area. The dome of this church was the sky, The wails were the birch forest. The church of St. Nicholas was located in the deep forest towards the “Muksolm” Assignment Area, It was a thicket naturally formed by seven large spruces. Most frequently the secret services were conducted only in the summer, on great feasts and, with special solemnity, on the Day of Pentecost. But sometimes, depending on circumstances, doubly secret services were celebrated also in other places. Thus, for example, on Great Thursday of 1929, the service of the reading of the Twelve Gospels was celebrated in our physicians’ cell in the 10th Company, Vladika Victor and Fr. Nicholas came to us as if for disinfection. Then, catacomb style, they served the church service with the door bolted. On Great Friday an order was read in all Companies informing that for the next three days no one would be allowed to leave the Companies after 8 p.m. save in exceptional circumstances and by special written permit of the Camp Commandant.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, when we physicians had just returned to our cells after a 12-hour workday, Fr. Nicholas came to us and told us that a Plashchanitsa (burial shroud with the image of Christ) the size of one’s palm had been painted by the artist R. The service-the rite of burial–was to be held and would begin in an hour. “Where?” Vladika Maxim asked. “In the great box for drying fish which is closest to the forest, next to Camp N. The password: three knocks and then two. It’s better to come one at a time.”
In half an hour Vladika Maxim and I left our Company and started out for the indicated “address.” Twice patrols asked for our permits. We, as physicians, had them. But what about the others?–Vladika Victor, Vladika Ilarion, Vladika Nektary, and Fr. Nicholas? Vladika Victor worked as-a bookkeeper in the rope factory. Vladika Nektary was a fisherman; and the others weaved nets. Here was the edge of the forest. Here was the box, about nine yards long, without windows, the door scarcely noticeable. Light twilight, the sky covered with dark clouds. We knock three times and then twice. Fr. Nicholas opens. Vladika Victor and Vladika Ilarion are already here… In a few minutes Vladika Nektary also comes. The interior of the box has been converted into a church. On the floor, on the wails, spruce branches. Several candles flickering. Small paper icons. The small Plashanitsa is buried in green branches. Ten people have come to pray. Later another four or five come, of whom two are monks. The service begins, in a whisper. It seemed that we had no bodies, but were only souls. Nothing distracted or interfered with prayer… I don’t remember how we went “home,” i.e., to our Companies. The Lord covered us!
The bright service of Pascha was assigned to our physicians’ cell. Towards midnight under various urgent pretexts arranged by the section, without any kind of written permit, all who intended to come gathered, about fifteen people in all. After the Matins and Liturgy, we sat down and broke the fast. On the table were Paschal cake and cheese, colored eggs, cold dishes, wine (liquid yeast with cranberry extract and sugar). About three o’clock we parted.
Control rounds of our Company were made by the Camp Commandant before and after the services, at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Finding us four physicians headed by Vladika Maxim, on his last round, the Commandant said: “What doctors, you’re not sleeping?” And immediately he added: “Such a night…and one doesn’t want to sleep!” And he left.
“Lord Jesus Christ! We thank Thee for the miracle of Thy mercy and power,” pronounced Vladika Maxim movingly, expressing our common feelings.
The white night of Solovki was nearing its end. The delicate, rose-colored Paschal morning of Solovki, the sun playing for joy, greeted the monastery-concentration camp, converting it into the invisible city of Kitezh and filling our free Souls with a quiet, unearthly joy.

TW: body dysmorphia, eating disorder
Let me just unload my feelings. no advice needed. throwaway account. Don’t post this on other socmeds please.
People really are way too uncomfortable commenting about other people’s weight nowadays, noh? I [23, F] struggled with my weight all my life because of my hormonal imbalance problems.
Kanina lang, a sister company’s employee bodyshamed me. we got free lunch kasi, and when we came to pick up our food, this particular employee suddenly commented na pang-dalawang tao ang portion ko. fucking hell, is that something you should tell to other people, diba hindi?
Admittedly, I gained weight because of my hormonal imbalance. It really is hard to lose weight, even though I always try whatever ways there are available. OMAD, exercise, calorie deficit, you name it. Di naman ako obese, pero malaman kumbaga, and noticeable yung gain before my PCOS hit me. Mind you, hindi naman kami close. Kaya the audacity of people to comment on my body as if they know me. And kahit ka-close mo pa yung tao, hindi naman tama na magsabi ng ganun.
It took me so long to finally accept my body dahil growing up, I suffered from anorexia. Hindi niyo alam dinadanas ko everyday, looking at myself in the mirror and nitpicking everything there is on my body, counting my calories.
Wala, sobrang nakaka-frustrate. Was not able to confront that person because there were other employees that time, and ayoko ng drama. I already have enough same comments from my own family and relatives, pati ba naman sa work, gagantuhin ako? Don’t tell me na sabihin ko sa boss ko because I can already see what he would reply.
Anw, kingina mo kang nagsabi, I’ll get my revenge on you someday. I will get my opportunity to confront you.
And to those bodyshamers, shame on you. Kakarmahin din kayo.

2024.05.16 11:44 CaptainJuny So, is it Sophia in Gideon’s armor?

So, is it Sophia in Gideon’s armor?
This girl in the trailer definitely reminds me of Sophia with a very young face and black hair. Also this armor really reminds me of the Mythic templar, which is Gideon’s armor from comics. I wonder if next season we are getting Sophia obtaining Gideon’s armor and allying with Ghost and company against Tontine?

2024.05.16 10:34 Throwaway-12280 Just a lifetime of depression, but things will work out.

Just want to point out the flairs for this also include violence and sexual assault, but couldn't figure out how to have more than the one Content Warning flair.
I'm a late-ish millennial, and I knew from about the age of 4 that something was off about me. I just didn't seem to define myself the same as other boys, or didn't like how other people defined me. It wasn't until I was about 8 or 9 that I nailed down what it was: something I learned in a Jerry Springer episode of all things - I was transgender. Technically transexual; transgender wasn't a common term back in the mid-90's. And it wasn't until I was 12 years old that I became brave enough to come out to my mother - with whom I had a much better relationship compared to my dad.
But allow me to back up and say that, without getting into too much detail, that I had a really rough childhood. When I was 6½, an older teenager boy that lived down the street from me fixated and basically molested me for about a year and a half. Any kink he wanted to try, and the list was extensive, he tried on me. I didn't tell anyone until I was about 24, but not because he threatened me or anything.. he just made me promise not to and for some stupid reason I didn't. I'll always wonder if I became transgender through this traumatic experience and I just created memories of times before that happened thinking I felt wrong in my body, or if those memories were authentic.
In any case, my plan to come out to my mom: we were the type of family to go camping a couple of times a year, and whenever we did my parents would get absolutely shitfaced, trashed, blackout drunk. My plan was to wait for my parents to get wasted, pull my mom aside, and come out to her so that I could gauge what her reaction would be sans filter, and then hope she didn't remember anything the next morning so that I could do so while she and my dad were sober.. and hopefully at least she would be on my side about it.
The plan worked perfectly - in a way. Her reaction was belligerent and violent. I told her "I don't feel like I should have been a boy. I'm a girl." and she at first dismissed it. When I pressed the issue, she smacked me rather hard and before I could get away she punched me in the chest which knocked us both over. That memory, at least, will forever be crystal clear to me; and by "the plan worked perfectly", she didn't remember anything about it the next morning, and I knew enough to not bring it up.
I feel like that's really when the gender dysphoria really spiraled my depression and anxiety out of control. I attempted suicide twice that year. I learned it's difficult to OD on ibuprofen, and when that didn't work I tried Advil, but my body rejected it and I puked it all up into a toilet. I'm pretty sure I fucked up my liver enough though because I can't drink alcohol.
After that I guess I just buried everything as deep inside of me as I could and just.. forgot about it. I grew up as just a normal boy, albeit depressed behind a facade of suave confidence. I was my high school's mascot until I graduated, joined the military, got out of the military, got engaged to a wonderful woman with the full intentions of starting a family. All of this is apparently very common for transwomen before their eggs crack - like we're so deep in denial that we do the things that society would expect us to do as men to continue the facade.
I attempted suicide again at 17: I tried cutting my wrists, but I'm a pansy when it comes to pain and didn't cut deep enough.. I took to wearing wristbands to cover the scar. And again when I was 22: I tried hanging myself in my closet and broken my clothes rack. Let me just say.. having a low enough self-esteem to completely override one's most basic instinct of self-preservation, and then FAIL at that as well, is the lowest.. like you hit rock bottom and still manage to dig deeper. And I was in denial during this time so I didn't know why I was depressed, but really, does anybody when they are? It's just a dark empty pit of apathy.
When I hit 23 years old, I met the woman that would become my wife. Things were going pretty good for a couple years - we had a healthy sex life, we genuinely enjoyed each other's company, we rarely if ever fought, and when we did we knew that communication was the key. We were swingers and enjoyed being young adults. Then sometime when I was 25.. everything started unburying itself. For such a stupid event, too. We had neglected laundry at some point and I didn't have any clean underwear, so as a joke she said to just wear some of hers.. so I did.
Something about putting on a pair of panties just.. felt right. Something so mundane, so seemingly meaningless to everyday life, struck me like a bolt of lightning and the trauma that was my childhood started coming back to the surface. I came out to my wife and.. well she wasn't thrilled. It almost ended the relationship, but honestly I was just excited she didn't automatically leave me that I was full steam ahead on researching all I could about transitioning. I was apparently going too fast for her, because she came up with a plan.. to offer me as much sex as she could to try and remind me just how awesome being a guy was. Turns out.. when you have a lot of sex without birth control.. you end up getting pregnant! Who'd have thought?! Well, she freaked out, but I sort of settled down with the transitioning thing and we communicated.
While she was pregnant with our first child, before she started showing, we got married. She was an only child, which she hated, and I have an older sibling, which sort of turned out okay, so after about a year or so we tried for a second child and it stuck. I didn't want to start HRT and my transition while she was pregnant with our second - the additional stress aside, but what if something also happened to the pregnancy? So I waited until our second child was born.
It didn't seem enough that I now knew why I was depressed, because regardless of that knowledge, I was still depressed. I tried another attempt when I was 27: I didn't want to fail again, and shooting yourself in the head seemed pretty final and fast, but my wife came in before I could go through with it, and she made an appointment with a psychologist that day.
My psychologist was a pretty cool person. I had heard horror stories of being made to wait like 6 months up to a year or more before being given a referral to an endocrinologist to start HRT, but after relating pretty much this whole story to her, she seemed pretty convinced that the sooner the better. I mean I was in my late 20's, and she could tell I wasn't talking to her just on a whim.
I started hormones early 2017 and have been on them ever since. My wife and I are doing well. Despite being on testosterone blockers murdering my sex drive at first, it's come back by now and we're doing kind of spectacular. My eldest child is almost a preteen and .. things are actually going really really good in my life. My parents and sibling are kinda weirded out about it, but I beat my sibling in giving them grandkids, so as messed up as that seems I think that's why they really tolerate(more than accept) me in their lives. And as far as I know, they're not aware of any of the suicide attempts.
Anyway.. figured I'd get that off my chest.

2024.05.16 09:53 newsu1 Unleashing the Power of Self-Confidence

Unleashing the Power of Self-Confidence
Self-confidence is the unwavering belief in your abilities, qualities, and judgments. It's the inner strength that propels you forward, empowering you to take risks, embrace challenges, and pursue your goals without fear or hesitation. In contrast, shyness is a feeling of apprehension, discomfort, and lack of confidence, particularly in social situations or when facing unfamiliar circumstances.
While shyness can hold you back, self-confidence is the catalyst that unlocks your full potential. It's the difference between shrinking into the background and boldly stepping into the spotlight, between playing it safe and taking calculated risks that lead to growth and success.
To cultivate an unshakable sense of self-confidence, here are ten powerful strategies to embrace:

1. Celebrate Your Strengths

Make a list of your unique talents, skills, and accomplishments. Reflect on moments when you shone brightly, and let those memories fuel your belief in yourself. For example, if you excelled in a presentation at work, remind yourself of the preparation and poise you displayed.

2. Reframe Failures as Opportunities

Failures are inevitable, but they don't define you. Treat setbacks as valuable learning experiences that sharpen your resilience and wisdom. If you struggled with a project, analyze what went wrong and use those insights to enhance your approach next time.

3. Surround Yourself with Positivity

The company you keep can greatly influence your self-confidence. Seek out individuals who uplift and encourage you, and distance yourself from toxic negativity that chips away at your self-belief. Cultivate a supportive network of friends, mentors, and role models who inspire you.

4. Practice Self-Care

When you prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, your self-confidence naturally soars. Exercise regularly, nourish your body with wholesome foods, engage in activities that bring you joy, and prioritize rest and relaxation. A healthy mind and body foster a resilient spirit.

5. Dress for Success

The way you present yourself to the world can shape your self-perception. Identify styles and colors that make you feel powerful and confident, and dress intentionally to embody that energy. When you look good, you'll feel good, and your confidence will radiate from within.

6. Visualize Success

Engage in daily visualization exercises, vividly imagining yourself achieving your goals and handling challenging situations with poise and grace. This mental rehearsal can train your brain to believe in your capabilities, boosting your self-assurance when faced with real-life obstacles.

7. Embrace Imperfection

Perfection is an illusion that can undermine your confidence. Recognize that mistakes and flaws are part of the human experience, and strive for progress over perfection. When you embrace your imperfections with self-compassion, you free yourself from the weight of unrealistic expectations.

8. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Growth happens when you challenge yourself and push past your limits. Identify areas where you tend to play it safe, and gradually expose yourself to situations that stretch your boundaries. Whether it's public speaking, trying a new hobby, or networking, each step outside your comfort zone will fortify your self-confidence.

9. Celebrate Small Wins

Confidence is a muscle that grows stronger with consistent exercise. Rather than waiting for major achievements, celebrate the small victories along the way. Did you speak up in a meeting? Conquer a fear? Acknowledge and savor those moments, as they pave the way for even greater triumphs.

10. Fake It 'Til You Make It

Sometimes, the act of projecting confidence can help you internalize it. Stand tall, make eye contact, speak clearly, and adopt confident body language, even when you're feeling unsure. Over time, this "fake it 'til you make it" approach can rewire your brain and instill a genuine sense of self-assurance.
Remember, self-confidence is a journey, not a destination. By consistently nurturing and strengthening your belief in yourself, you'll unlock a world of possibilities and unleash your full potential. Embrace these strategies, and watch as your self-confidence soars, propelling you toward greater heights of personal and professional success.

Mr. Bill Panagiotakopoulos reports
SAFE SUPPLY STREAMING: PIONEERING SOLUTIONS IN THE ADDICTION CRISIS THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND INNOVATION
Safe Supply Streaming Co. Ltd. has reaffirmed its commitment to developing integrated, sustainable solutions in response to the evolving regulatory and public health landscape. The Company's announcement aligns with recent developments in Toronto, where the city's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de Villa, defended the plan to decriminalize all drugs for personal use.
Safe Supply Streaming is uniquely positioned at the intersection of public health and innovative technology. With strategic stakes in vital assets like Safety Strips, a provider of cutting-edge fentanyl test strips, and a 40% ownership in CannaLabs, an operational, revenue-producing laboratory, Safe Supply Streaming is building a robust platform to tackle the complexities of drug addiction and overdose prevention.
In addition, Safe Supply Streaming is actively expanding its licensing portfolio to include additional narcotics permissions, further cementing its role as an industry trailblazer. This proactive approach not only enhances the Company's capability to manage and mitigate addiction-related risks but also opens new pathways for public and private investment, particularly in sectors where traditional banking finance remains elusive.
"Amid the public discourse on drug decriminalization and the critical need for comprehensive public health strategies, Safe Supply Streaming stands out as a beacon of innovation and action," said Bill Panagiotakopoulos, CEO of Safe Supply Streaming. "Our strategic investments in essential technologies and healthcare infrastructure demonstrate our commitment to safety and effectiveness in addressing drug use. We are not just responding to a market need - we are anticipating the challenges and shaping the solutions that will define tomorrow's landscape in addiction treatment and prevention."
The CEO further emphasized the Company's role in shaping public policy and health responses. "As we continue to engage with policymakers and health experts, our goal is to create a safe, regulated framework that supports not just the decriminalization of drug use, but a shift towards an integrated treatment and prevention model," he added.
Safe Supply Streaming's response to the statement by Dr. Eileen de Villa underscores its alignment with public health priorities that advocate for treatment over criminalization. The company supports the call for more publicly funded treatment options, accessible mental health supports, and affordable housing, recognizing these as foundational to solving the intertwined challenges of addiction, mental illness, and homelessness.
To this end, Safe Supply Streaming is enhancing its collaborative efforts with government bodies, healthcare organizations, and community groups to ensure that its solutions are comprehensive and tailored to meet the diverse needs of the communities it serves. This includes expanding its educational outreach and community engagement programs to raise awareness of the health risks associated with drug use and the available preventive measures.
