I am a 26 yo girl and ever since I remember I've been into gay love (two men) so much that I don't even want to date straight guys but only bi guys. It is not something that I am able to change. It somehow blocks me from dating anyone at all, because I don't want to be considered a bad person who is sexualizing someone's orientation and I don't really know how to describe it to people I date. I will tell you my two scenarios that I think would work for me:
1) I'd date a guy who wants to be with me and have an open relationship so that he can sleep with other guys (but only guys, not other girls), idk if I'd want it to be open from my side too, I don't think I'd need it, unless only for threesomes.
2) I'd date a bi guy who wants to find another bi guy so that we can be regular or in a relationship all three of us together : I had such an experience where I joined a couple who already was together, it was their initiative to include me, but it ended as a situationship (we were spending DAYS together, like literally I could sleep two or three nights in a row at their place and I even met their families) but they didn't want it to be official and didn't accept me as an equal part so I got hurt and I left.
Does it mean I am poly or is it something completely different ? I can't imagine myself in a normal relationship without this gay part, it would just not work for me. Do you think it's acceptable or would it rather offend people? If it's not right to do such in the poly community, where could it fit?

I’ll provide as much context as possible because, well, I am “full tilt” or ready to tell my landlord I want to void my lease renewal and pack my bags.
I’ve lived in my Boston apartment for a full year now, just renewed 2 days ago. I live right in downtown (near the back Bay Area) in a nice condo building (old building but nice units). There are probably 25 units in my building, I am on the first floor (but there are still units below me). I have never seen a roach.
My apartment has a TON of windows, I’ve had them open for a few days due to nice weather, but they all have screens. Today, after a small light rainstorm (a few really nice weather days before this), I noticed my 3 cats all losing their mind and all of a sudden they ran to the kitchen.
Under my trash can, I found a MASSIVE roach, when I say massive I mean the biggest bug I’ve ever seen, it was like 2 inches long (picture below) - my cats were trying to kill it. I killed it, sealed it in an old candle, wrapped it in a trash bag, and immediately threw it in the dumpster outside.
After this, I searched my entire apartment (didn’t find anything), scrubbed the F out of my kitchen and living room, mopped all the floors, cleaned my cat box, etc.
My apartment is already very clean, my girlfriend and I are very clean people, but I instantly panicked because to me cockroaches = fear and a terrible living situation.
My question is, what type of cockroach is this? Should I be panicked? What should I do to make sure nothing bad happens? And do I need to contact my landlord?
Please bear with me, as I have serious anxiety and I’m entirely freaking out at the moment. Thanks in advance and ANY advice is greatly appreciated.

2024.05.16 09:02 Livid_Signature_7522 Can't seem to get interview or job after longterm injury recovery. Advice?
Hey, so I've spent the last decade recovering from a hit and run accident (that occured in my sophmore year in college in 2014) and finishing my Bachelors degree in 2D Animation. I was essentially disabled but never filed for it. My injury was my body being stuck in biofeedback loop - aka constant level 8 pain from the neck down, and if I lifted anything more that 15lbs, sat too long, held a pencil, or walked more than a mile resulted in extreme sharp pain. (I attended most of my classes by standing the back or laying on the floor and a lot of ice packs).
In late 2022, I finally made a full recovery, finish the last requirment for my degree, graduted in December.
2023 I was so excited (and extremely neverous) to get my first job in the industry - 2 months into job hunting and a lot of rejection emails, the writer and actor strikes happened. I couldn't find work. I didnt have a network anymore because everyone wrote me off. Late Spring, I finally landed a remote contract illustration job with help from a family acquaintance.
Now is 2024, I still have the illustration job, but it's inconsistent and doesnt pay enough live off of. 30% of the animation industry is unemployed in my city. Stupid Ai destabilized the career I got a degree in. The last of my savings is gone. I'm trying to get a day job so I can at least pay back my debts/ rebuild my savings. However, I'm just not getting any call backs.
I did a cover letter and do the follow up calls - more then half of which ended with the fact they were over staffed and position wasn't actually open.
I've gotten 2 interviews in the 2 1/2 months of job hunting. The biggest feedback I've gotten is:
1) concern that I wont be able get along with younger employees because of my age (31) 2) that I'm over qualified, but don't have enough experience.
How am I suppose to get experience when no one will employ me? My longest jobs was back in 2013 & 2011 before I transfered to university. I couldn't work for last decade because of the injury. I can't do anything about the empyment gaps, or my age (31 years). But I have 2 degrees, graduated with honors, I'm a hard worker, friendly, capable, and I didn't give up when doctors told me the pain was permanent.
I'm finally normal again. Why can't I get consistent work or at least more interviews? Thoughts? Constructive advice?

Some advice would be amazing, I’m really struggling with what to do next, so some in the industry advice would be hugely appreciated.
A little background. I am British, in my late 20s, and completed a 3 year cadetship as an ETO in August 2022. I immediately started a role with my sponsoring company which was a cruise line. My first contract was 1 month, where I joined a ship at the end of its build and essentially walked around all day every day looking for defects. Didn’t have to be an ETO to do it. Unfortunately, not long after getting off ship I had a severe family issue which inevitably resulted in me needing to the company as I was needed at home. I have not been back to sea nor in an ETO related role since.
I am now ready to get back to it, but I feel like I’m not in the position to. I’m not experienced, was fresh out of college when I left the industry, and now I’m almost 2 years out. I’m happy to update my knowledge with reading etc but I’m aware of the expectations of a new recruit to any company. After all I have the qualifications so why can’t I just hop straight into the role… is what I would imagine they will feel.
I am looking around at jobs but all require experience, and I have not seen anything in the realm of “junior ETO” or “New to industry”. A contract with guidance would be perfect, as it allows me to build back up to the point where I can take full responsibility.
What can anyone recommend? What part of the industry is best to get into (cruise, tanker, yacht etc)? Money is not a motivator for me, enjoying my job is.

2024.05.16 09:01 Glatier8171 just lost 9 pages of work and I'm losing my mind
Been pouring like countless hours of work into my essay which is due within 2 days, and now all of a sudden I lost an entire chunk of progress. My Word was opened when I closed my laptop the night before; and just a few minutes earlier, I booted up my laptop, and while it usually took only a few seconds for it, this time it took a full minute + it restarted my laptop (normally it doesn't restart at all, with all the ongoing tasks from the night before still staying up). When I opened up Word, for some god damn reason I lost 9 ENTIRE PAGES of writing. The last time I saved was when I had those first 7 pages down, and I swear to God, throughout my work timeline I Ctrl+S'd like 7 times, I save after having made decent amount of progress each and every time. And yet, I'm basically back to square one again. There's no Document Recovery option to help me out this time, either. Am I fucked yet?

I got a lot of PMs after the last post and thought I atleast owed this last post to this wonderful community.
You guys helped me through one of my worst times and taugh me that standing up for myself is not wrong. I couldn't be more thankful.
My VISA application was accepted around 2 weeks back. (My workaholic nature paid off) I already had an employer so I didn't really face any problems.
I booked earliest one way ticket I could find to my current country.
And suffice to say, I have a lot to share.
I met a guy in a pub. I shared a beer with him. I talked about my life. He talked about his life. He also likes football, which is apparently their culture and I also went to a game with him. He's my friend now.
My neighborhood has the most amazing and kind people I have ever met. My coworkers are very friendly. I am not sneered at by them. The work culture is great. I'm just so happy around here. I look forward to every day of life here. When I go to sleep, I am not filled with stress or worry, rather a wish to just live another day in this beautiful world.
I'm very thankful for this fresh start that the world has given me.
I also read a lot of books, that's why you might find improvement in my English. I like the thriller genre a lot. I tried to read some of Agatha Christie's books but I had to google a word every sentence or so.
But, dating is still off the charts for a few months..
After a few days, I will log out of this account for good, as it still is a reminder of my past.
TLDR : I moved to a new country, made friends, found peace and started enjoying my hobbies.

Can you describe your experience with the word “connection” (emotional connection, human connection)?
Hi. I’m an autistic dude in my 30’s. For context, I’ve avoided interacting face to face with people pretty much my whole life. I have a really hard time with the word “connection” as it pertains to interpersonal relationships. I think the core disconnect is that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced “connection”. Or if I have, I didn’t naturally apply that name to it. I’m trying to puzzle it out because:
1) apparently women want an emotional connection in relationships/before sex. I’ve sought out dating/sex my whole adult life. The crushes that I’ve had dates with, I just felt amazing around that person. That’s as far as I understood it and then they would ghost me after 1 or 2 dates. I had no idea that what women want is an emotional connection. Now that I know that, I’m trying to figure out what the hell that actually means.
2) I need to know the actual definition of the word, because I need to know if I’m making a connection with someone. What am I supposed to feel in my body? What is supposed to actually happen? What is the other person supposed to feel or do? I can’t make progress towards being emotionally connected until I know these things. My current friendships are quite shallow (apparently), so clearly emotional connection doesn’t “just happen” for me. I need to be able to know what I’m doing and if I’m making progress so that I can correct course if I’m not doing it right, or if I am doing it right, tell myself “keep doing what you’re doing”.
I’ll start with what got me thinking about it again and then what my history with the word is.
So the other day I was hanging out with some friends and there’s one guy in the group who is dating. He apparently had been out multiple times with this girl he met on a dating app. I know I’m supposed to be happy for him, but when I hear about this sort of thing, I’m just baffled. How did he have a conversation with her over the app? What did they start with? It seems to have something to do with connection, I guess. I seemingly don’t know how to have a conversation, and that’s not something I could’ve asked him, people just look at me weird when I say something ultra-beginner like “how do I have a conversation”. It just pissed me off because this dude is recently divorced and he’s already been on multiple dates with this other woman. This is the 3rd friend I’ve had that has been divorced and started dating again, and they all get further than me in 1/10th the time! The other two friends are already re-married! Meanwhile I’ve never made it past a 2nd date. So clearly I’m missing something.
My friend was talking about said girl and ended it with “connection! That’s the important thing!” Which is what got me confused and thinking about the word.
So, from my perspective, “human connection” is a totally new idea to me. I literally never heard anyone in any capacity, whether it be online, face to face, or in media of any kind, talk about “connection”, emotional connection, or human connection. Then all of a sudden a few years ago people started saying it all the time. Not everyone, but I’ve heard it from multiple people now. Many people have said that it’s the most important thing on earth. Why is something that many people consider to be the most important thing on earth…something that wasn’t even on my radar until a few years ago? What the hell?
My confusion comes in because I can’t tell what my friend’s history with the word is. Is he just as clueless as I am, and is just using the word because they’ve heard other people say it and their best guess is that what they are experiencing is connection? Or did they experience a connection at some earlier point in their life and somehow someone was able to label it as “connection” for him? Does it somehow feel like a “connection” so people naturally apply that label? Maybe his family frequently talked about connection? That seems weird though because it seems impossible to talk about “human connection” with the people you might connect with - people seem to get really uncomfortable with it. I guess because if you don’t know what an emotional connection is, and they do, they probably don’t want to be around you.
Looking it up, the term emotional intelligence was coined in 1990. It seems like that’s around the same time “emotional connection” was coined. So….the most important thing on earth didn’t have a name until 1990? What? What did people in the 70’s say to refer to it? Did they not have connections? What did people in the 1920’s say without this term existing? I just don’t get how something so recent is supposedly so crucial to being a human and interacting with others.
Furthermore, what does it say about my life that I had only heard this term recently? I’m not thinking like “boo hoo for me, his life is better”, more like “other people have been living in an alternate reality to me where connection is very important and for some reason they never helped me with this concept, and they won’t help explain it to me now because I’m supposed to just get it. And they think this experience of connection is universal and everyone gets it.” Not understanding it seems to signal to them that I haven’t been living in their reality.
So what’s your history with the word? Did you have a “connection” with someone, and then, not having heard the word, you said to yourself “this feels like a connection!”. Or had you heard the word first and then applied it to your situation once you had a connection with someone? Hi all, big DMB fan who will be making my first trip to the Gorge on the 31st first of this month for an RHCP show (my fav band, hoping to come back next year and stay all weekend and camp for DMB). I had some questions and figured there's no better group to ask than this one.
1) I will be flying out from east coast, staying in Seattle, and driving to and from the show. How much of a difference does Star and Star Plus parking make? These are $99-125 each but I think it's well worth the money if it will help me get out quick and headed back to the city after.
2) Can you bring any food or drinks into the venue? I saw somewhere that you can bring a closed or empty bottle of water in but not sure if this is true. If it is true does it need to be under a certain size or could I bring something large like a 1.5L?
3) I have heard a lot about how it can be hot and sunny during the day and cool and windy at night. Does anyone know what the weather might be like at the end of May/ start of June? Trying to figure out what i should wear and plan to bring (besides sunscreen).
4) I'm sure it will be slightly different for an RHCP show opposed to Dave, but how quick does the pit tend to fill up? I have pit tickets, but am planning to hang out on the lawn and take in the views and sunset before moving down and close.
Super excited for my first Gorge experience and can't wait to come back for a Davecation hopefully next year! Any other general info, tips, or advice about the venue for a newbie are greatly appreciated, TIA!

Daughter (6F) has been complaining of stomach pain these past few days. Took her to the Drs today and he sent her for an xray. The radiologist asked if she wanted to keep a copy of her xray since it was her first one.
Will probably be a day or 2 before we cam get back to the doctors for the results and was wondering if anyone here can interpret the picture before then?

I am currently 4wppd and EP. I am making 19 ounces which is 90% of my baby’s meal. I want to get to 1.3-1.5 times my baby’s daily consumption. Assuming I am able to get to the supply I want in next 2-3 weeks, at what point is it safe to start dropping my pumps? How do you go about it? I am planning to start working at 3m ppd and want to get to 5 pumps a day, but scared of doing it too early. If I drop from current 7-8 to 5-6 pumps and if my body cannot keep up will I see a drop in supply immediately? Or is it gradual?
