I just got out of a 9 month relationship with someone that was cheating on me from the beginning of our relationship, why am I having doubts?!
For background.. We met last year, dated for 5 months before I (32F) found out he (31M) cheated on me with multiple people in multiple ways. He slept with 4 people (unprotected), sexted multiple women, flirted with many, had a romantic & platonic relationship with one. I broke it off back in December but he begged and asked for forgiveness a month later and I reluctantly gave in. Focusing on his promises to wanting to be a better person and wanting to change. I am too empathetic...
In December when we first broke up, I went insane. I reached out to all of his friends to let them know what kind of person he was, I told his mom, I even found his exes on social media and spoke with them. I found out that he dated them both for multiple years (one in college and one post college) and cheated on both of them the entire time as well. He is likely a sex addict (or attention addict?). Why did I go back?
Anyway, we had been dating again since early this year, and it was just so tough. I feel like this trauma is going to take so long to heal from. I used to be so confident and secure in myself, and I started feeling like I was ugly on the inside and outside because I was just never going to be enough for him, I felt like there was always going to be someone with a better body or face to catch his eye and demand his attention. These past few months had just been getting worse and worse and I finally called it off when I caught him checking out a girl while we were out. It wasn't even cheating, but I just felt like it was a step in that direction. A direction I feel like he can't and doesn't want to control going into. It triggered me so much, I felt like my insides just shattered into glass.
Sometimes I read confessions serial cheaters on here and how they feel no remorse, and they'll never stop because they like it too much and never feel guilty. I feel like that is who I was dating, and he was just pretending to care so he could have me back (and for what?! I am not enough and will never be). I felt like he wanted to feel guilt and remorse, but he couldn't and didn't know how...
So why am I still doubting my decision? What's wrong with me? :(

Most other media either have only one writer or they stay mostly consistent despite their various writers. DC and Marvel in particular have basically no consistency. DC and Marvel comics are an almost unique medium unto themselves in that everything varies so much all the time. Not even adaptations are one-to-one. The most "accurate" adaptations are still barely like the concurrent comics.
Characters are constantly changing personalities, character dynamics, relationships, and even designs. Most of these characters are 40+ years old and only barely resemble what they originally did.
I don't know much about Marvel. But, I am pretty sure a large portion of the DC fandom (especially Batman fans) basically don't read the comics. The few that do pick and choose. A lot of fans nowadays won't touch anything made prior to 2000, or even 2011.
The amount of people taking from other fanworks or from adaptations leads to really wonky misconceptions. I've seen enough Tumblr posts trying to debunk common fanon misconceptions.
I write certain character as a villain/anti-villain as he was years ago but a lot of his fans prefer his newer, softer characterization. Other writers have been told they write him OOC and "too mean" when that was literally his characterization in the past.

But I was reading this one fic where a character was assaulted by a villain. A fan of his said it was OOC... but it's basically canon. The text never confirmed it but it's heavily implied there was assault. The character in question has a lot of fans because he's "cool" and "funny", plus the comics have tried really hard to ignore this one scene and has all-but retconnned it, so some of his newer fans don't even remember it. The extra weird thing is that the guy is basically a serial killer. Torturing people is fine but rape is too far?
With my fanfics, I mainly stick to a pre-2010s era. I feel a bit weird not including some of the new characters that people love so much, but then again I don't care for them myself. I always make sure to tag my fic so people know it's based on so-and-so era of comics.

Howdy, I was wondering if anyone had advice on possible legal action against a serial scammer. I'm going to keep it a detailed as I can while being vague as to not call attention to anyone in this very large group.
Over the past year and half there has been an individual who we were all friends with but was unaware that they were a large scammer until someone from a previous group they were a part of reached out to us about it with an extremely detailed beware document with an extensive catalog of their previous scams. Previous scams include selling the same item to multiple people and not sending it out, selling a service (art commission) and never fulfilling it or issuing a refund, and a few others.
They were active in 2022- early 2023, took a brief break to burn all their original accounts, then came back in Dec 2023 after rebranding. They were last active this past month. The individual has since burned all their new accounts (again) but we have a lot of irl information that we could use to possibly file a police report. The amount of money (and items) stolen over the last year are well over $4000 and they've affected over 15+ individuals that we've gathered so far. All of their social medias have been deleted and we are not able to contact them to receive refunds or even communicate with them.
They've hurt a lot of my friends and at this point we want to make sure this person cannot scam anyone again. Would it be worth it to file legal action against them? If so how would we go about classifying the theft since it falls under many categories? If you need any more information about this person for clarity, please lmk!

I was thinking about this the other day, there's several reasons for and against thinking there will be:
AGAINST

1. Murder is going down decade on decade since the 1990s. There's no reason to think it'll reverse and one day we'll live in a very safe society if trends continue.
   
2. Police have access to such technology now, gene family tracing, universal surveillance, if they want to find someone they will.
   
3. The "I wanna be famous" crime of the moment is mass murder, not serial murder. What young psychopath is going to have the attention span for years of murder anyway?
   

FOR

1. Trends could always reverse, and if Reddit is to be trusted society is on the brink of collapse, so a fall in the abilities of the police and infrastructure leading to hitchhiking would lead to serial killers having free reign
   
2. 2020 saw a mass traumatizing and isolating event from which we still haven't recovered. Those who were children will be adults in the 2030s and 2040s, like the children of WW2 vets coming of age in the 1960s and 1970s.
   
3. So much violent and glorifying of serial killers media has been released and kids have access to it all, so this could inspire that same cohort in the last point.

I'm trying to run a VM (Alpine Linux 3.20) inside a VM (Alpine Linux 3.19) At first I attempted this using virsh but that failed spectacularly (details upon request), but then I found out I could (theoretically) also create and restore VM snapshots using qemu-system-x86_64. The issue right now is that I can't see the boot log output. This is what I've tried so far:

Okay so here's the back story, my husband and I met at work almost ten years ago. I always told him I never needed his money I just wanted his time. If he ever wanted to get me a ring later on down the road that I would be fine with a bread tie. I lost my dad when i was 19 so time and memories became so important to me. Why am I telling you this? Because it will become important later on. At the time I was 27 and he was 22 and we moved in together four months into the relationship. Fast, I know. Six or seven months into the first year he totally flipped out one night and backed me into a corner then began hitting me with his forearm. I was shocked and once he was done I went outside and I called my mom and then his parents. My mom came and sat with me until his parents arrived. He came out of the house and he was always tall standing at 6'4" and at the time 250 lbs. but in that moment he looked bigger than he was. My mother however standing at 5'5" and 120 lbs. was ready fight. I begged her not to and she just calmly asked him what he was thinking. He started crying and told her that he didn't know what happened and he was scared. His parents arrived and he begged them to take him to the hospital because he didn't want to hurt me. They took him and the hospital admitted him for a week. While there we found out that he had bipolar. They put him on some medication and sent him. home. For the first few months nothing happened and he seemed genuinely better. Well he stopped taking his medication after about three months. He started back sliding. He became distant, angry, easily upset, and refused to take his medication even when asked. He would start making mean comments about my weight because lets face it I'm not small girl. He would continually talk to other women and even went so far as to gaslight me on several occasions. Through it all I loved him enough to forgive him. Maybe I did it out of fear of being alone but I always told myself that i did it because I knew I was no saint and wanted to own up for my part in all of his. Here is where things start to get worse. SO his ex came to work at the place we were at and he began getting close with her. I knew the moment she came that it was going to be a problem given the fact that she hated me when we first got together by going to far as to start rumors at my job about me and because I was new they would believe her. She even would go so far as to steal his phone while he was bowling and sent me a snapchat of herself from his phone. Anyway they got close and he swore she had changed because she apologized for being such a jerk before. Everyone except my best friend Mo (I met through this job) believed she had truly changed. I felt crazy. I felt as if I was being gaslight from every turn. We were fighting more and more. He used MY car one day for work and we were arguing well after work he never came home when he should and when I called him he answered very agitatedly that he was taking a cruise. I later came to find out that he had her in the car and they drove an hour away to cruise and were gone for three hours. At this point he swears they didn't do anything and I don't believe him. Well fast forward to a year and a half later and he proposed (I believe most out of pressure from his mother and aunt.). He comes from a very religious family and they do not believe in living together before marriage. I accepted because I loved him but also because I truly thought no one would love me and if I said no I would be alone forever. He is happy again for a few months. He later tells me that he wants us to try and be friends with this same ex. I decided to trust him and we meet up with her at a park and talk. She assures me that they are just friends and that she hopes we can be friends too. She even goes so far as to say that she wants us to get marries. That struck me as super weird but I shelved it deciding not to dig any further because I was tired of fighting. I go on for a month or so messaging her as a friend, really trying for the sake of my fiancé. Then my aunts funeral comes around. I asked him to come with me because he picked up that day and work would understand. He refused and said that he picked it up and they would be upset. Whatever. I left with my mom and we drove 2 hours away for the funeral. While I was gone for two days he was very distracted and we fought. He didn't tell me anything. The wedding came and went and so did the honeymoon. It was a nice time....I guess. I started a different job to keep the fighting at a minimum. After the wedding I asked him what really happened while I was away at my aunts funeral. That when he admitted to taking his ex out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and to the movies. He said he held her hand and even felt up her breast. When an unknown coworker called them while they were out she asked them "Are ya'll dating now or not?" and my husbands reply was "yes." I wasn't as shocked as I was sick. He could not come to a family funeral with his wife but could stay behind to take his ex out on a date? The fuck? Anyway we got past that and I kept trying. I was never one who wanted to get married (ironic i know) but I took my vows very seriously. While housesitting for my mom one night we got into another argument, this one turned physical. He threw his body over me as i lay on the floor and I began to panic as I am claustrophobic and can't stand being bound. He finally gets up and my dazed reaction was to swing out my arm and make sure that there was enough distance between my husband and me so I can get up and out of harms way. Wrong timing! My fingertips grazed his back and his instinct was to turn around and punch me in the stomach with his fist. I fell back down hysterical. He walked away yelling at me. I quickly grabbed my phone while he had his back turned and shut the volume off and hid my phone under my breasts so he wouldn't be able to find it. I stood up as quick as I can while he was yelling from behind the couch. He turned around when I told him through gasping breath and heavy tears "This is my mom's house and you need to leave now. If you don't leave I will call the cops." I knew he was afraid of cops. He turned even angrier and came around the couch looking for my phone. As he came toward me I moved quickly around the couch. He followed me yelling where my phone was. As he tried to move to my side of the couch i took my opportunity and moved toward the door so that i could at least open it quickly because I knew the neighbors were outside. I reached the door and stepped outside then walked to the other side of the porch. When my husband came out he didn't noticed the neighbors. I took that opening as he began to yell at me and as calmly as I can told him "The neighbors are out do you really want to be yelling like that?" While he was once again distracted I took brief notice of small 50/50 chance opening I had to get past my husband and into the house without him making it in. I didn't think long before reacting. I bolted toward the door knowing that he wouldn't move as fast because the neighbors were out. I made it in and he grabbed the door as it was almost closed. I yanked with every last fiber of my body and locked the door. I immediately reached for my phone and dialed my best friend Mo and without another word she came. Just as I was on the phone with her, my husband opened the front door window that didn't lock and began to climb in. As he was halfway in I unlocked the door and stood halfway out prepared to run if needed. He noticed and pushed himself back out the window. I let myself quickly back into the house as he tried the door again. It was locked so he tried the window again. This went on for three or four rounds before Mo arrived. I let her in while he was halfway in the window and she slammed the window down on his back so hard he and Mo made it perfectly clear to him while she had him pinned in the window that her father was aware of the situation and if he didn't hear from her soon he would call the police as he drove over to check things out. My husband left and my best friend stayed the night to so i was safe. My mom came home the next day and she went toe to toe with my husband. I begged her not to do anything because I loved him and wasn't ready to lose him. They stood there for fifteen to twenty minutes yelling at one another chest to chest. I was so scared for my mom. I thought he would hit her too. He didn't. He just left. After a week apart we talked about it and worked things out. He started going to therapy and taking his medicine. I told him the only way I would stay is if he broke off all contact with his ex. I didn't cry. I didn't yell. If fact I was so numb there was no emotion or reaction in my tone it was just hallow and flat. He called her and broke it off with her. He reaction: "I knew this was going to happen. I let myself fall for you and you break my heart. Your pathetic." She hung up and he came in and told me it was done. He told me he knew I was serious this time when I was scary calm. His ex wanted to try to get one more rise out so she shot me a text stating " 'Thanks for letting me friends with YOUR husband. He was such a great friend. He was very caring and attentive. He always talked to me and was kind to me. Maybe you shouldn't treat YOUR husband like crap.' I ignored it. She wanted a fight. I didn't care. I hated them both at that point. But I was willing to try for the sake of my marriage. The months got better and he really started to try....again. He blocked her and even gave me access to my phone. We were good for about a two years. Then he and my best friend Mo (yep that friend) developed "feeling" for one another. I loved her as a friend so we tried to poly relationship for my friend and husbands sake. I quickly became insecure and uncomfortable so I broke it off because we had an agreement that if one was uncomfortable at anytime we stop. Well he blocked her and I did not. Her mother fell outside a few months later and she needed help getting her up and because my husband is CNA she asked me for his help and I agreed. I brought him over to her home. He helped her mom and before we left she asked me if it would be okay to unblock her in case she needed help with her mother that day. Since I had to work I decided to trust them because he had kept her blocked for so long. I told her that was fine but he had to be home immediately after he was done (i had a bad feeling and as an empath I've learned to trust those feelings). They agreed and while I was at work he went over to her home to help. I called him three times asking if he was home yet because my bad feeling grew strong. By the third time I waited twenty minutes before the bad feeling and anxiety were so bad that I was dry heaving. I called and he answered saying she was taking him home now. It didn't sit right but I ignored it. After work I came home and we decided to watch UP together because I had never seen it. I aske him if we could get Carl and Ellie tattoos and he snapped at me a very angry "No" I was confused (I shouldn't have been because I knew something was wrong) He went to the bathroom and threw up then came back to the bedroom and asked me to take him to the hospital because he was throwing up blood. I took him and called my best friend Mo to let her know. She asked me to keep her posted telling me that he was fine earlier. I told her i love you and hung up. The doctor told him it was just stomach acid so we went home. The next day I checked on my husband before leaving for work. He swore he was okay. I was at work for not even a half an hour when my husband calls me to see how my day was going. I asked him if he was okay because he sounded off. He said he was fine. I asked if he was sure or if there was something I needed to know about last night with Mo. He angrily told me nothing happened and that i was being paranoid then he hung up on me. Twenty minutes passed and my husband calls me back. This time he speaks to me much softer and guiltier that last time. He tells me "I know why I was throwing up blood last night." I responded with "Why?' He proceeds to tell me that I am going to be mad. I asked him "You fucked her didn't you?" He told me yes. I was seeing red and began yelling at him as quietly as i could because i was still at work after all. I hung up on him and called my best friend. She tried to deny it when I confronted her after telling her not to lie he already admitted it she confessed. I cussed her out too then hung up and stormed into my job asking my boss if someone could cover me. I told her what had happened and told me to call a coworker who was relieving me from my shift that night. I called, he came and i explained before i left. I owed that to him if he was going to work a double shift because of me. I called my husband and told him to stop moving. I found him and didn't give him a chance to react. I told him to get in the car and he did. I sped off to Mo's house and confronted both of them. I ended up kicking my husband in the balls. Not once...not twice, but three times and then ended up smacking her in the face so hard it left a red mark. I was so angry that I told her she was going to march her ass back into that house and explain to her mother why my husband will not be coming back around to help her anymore. (My husband use to come over all the time before the poly relationship to help her mom since she was handicap.) She told her mom and when she came back she was visibly upset and let me know her mom was upset and understanding. She may have screwed my husband but there was one thing she could never do and lie to me even when she tried I always knew that's why we worked so well as friends. We kept each other accountable. I turned to my husband and told him "Your turn. Call your mother right now and put her on speaker phone." He tried to get out of it by coming up with the excuse that his mom was at work. I refused to let him get away with it. I told him "Call her! She just told her mom and now you have to tell yours. Call her and leave a voicemail she's good about calling you back." He did and she did call back. He put her on speaker as requested. She immediately expressed her disappointment and told us to come over to talk. We went over and talked. She let him have it as politely as possible after all they were still super religious. We began marriage counseling for a while and for three years we did really well. I even began trusting him again. It was strained at times but better. UNTIL.....my husband began. He stopped taking his meds AGAIN! He started getting angry. One point I was so frustrated with him I was going to throw away a video game of his when he leaped up out of that chair like a linebacker and rammed me into the long body mirror mounted on our hallway wall. He hit my head into the mirror I'm surprised it never broke, he pressed my face so far to the right I thought he was trying to break my neck. His left forearm was pressed against my throat. I fell to the floor after he let go for a second. Once on the floor he reared back and covered by entire body with his body shoving his right forearm into my throat this time and putting most of his weight on into it. I couldn't breath and at that point I was in full on panic attack mode trying to beg him to get off because I couldn't breath. His only response was "Good." through gritted teeth. I began to black out. Next thing I know I'm woke up what I assumed was a few short seconds later still on the floor in the same place. I sat up remembering what happened. My husband was back in the living room playing video games. I scrambled on the floor into the bedroom slammed the door quickly and locked it before he even was made aware I was awake. He tried to get me to talk to him and let him in because he thought he killed me. I refused and just cried so hard my chest and throat hurt and i was hyperventilating. He slept on the couch for the next two days. I locked myself in the bedroom only sneaking out quietly to use the restroom when I was absolutely sure the wasn't awake otherwise I'd hold it and didn't eat. I called his mom after the second day and she came and got him. He told me through the door that he was going to stay with her for a few days and that he was sorry. He came home with my consent. We raised a friends kids for a year after that. No i never reported the abuse on me to the cops because well as you guessed it ...I loved him. During that time he bean talking to EVERY coworker he had and was telling them that i was spending all of his money and not working. I did have a job in that year I just had to go PRN status to be with the kids because they were so young and traumatized from their own personal experiences that they required extra support. I read all of his coworkers messages. Most of them were telling him to leave me because, now get this, I was abusing him. I told him I was able to pick up shifts so he didn't have to work so much overtime if he would just stay home with the kids so I could on his days off. He refused. When I asked about going back to work full time or even part time he refused because the kids needed help. After the kids were able to go home again to their family things were recovering from the stressful financial burden of having them there. We recovered and did fine for another year. While we were out having a good day off together we had the smallest disagreement about going home and he back handed me. After 10 years of random abuse he gave me my first black eye. I reached over and pet his beard and said "cute aggression" He reached over and squeezed my chin so hard it bruised and said "cute aggression" through his teeth. The pain brought instant tears. When I asked why he did it he simply said "because you pulled my beard." I didn't. I tried explaining that to him. I asked if it felt like I pulled one beard hair or an entire clump. He said one. That's when it hit me that it was my ring that got caught on his beard. I was still partly shocked and when I told him "I'm going home. You can call mom and see if she will pick you up so you can go help. You are not going to hurt me physically anymore." That's when he back handed me leaving the black eye. I was shocked that i began to scream and hyperventilate and he got out of the car in the middle of the park. I called the cops...FINALLY. They picked him up and I gave my statement. He stayed in jail for less than 24 hours. I gave mom the money to bail him out since there was a temporary no contact order. After all of the trauma and bullshit he put me through here is where I realized that no matter what happened to me at his hands no one other than my mom would stand up to him. That he was the nicest guy on earth who could do no wrong that everyone liked. I was just his crazy, lazy, money hungry wife. Remember how I said I never wanted his money? Well 10 years and a whole lot of cheating and abuse later and I still meant it. However here is what all of his coworkers were saying. "Why would she call the cops on her cash cow?" "She deserved it. Honestly I'm surprised you didn't so it sooner." "She's financially abused you for years." "She doesn't love you. She just used you for your money." "You should leave her." "She had it coming." "Good for you man." While still temporarily separated he cheated on me with a coworker I asked him about and he swore it was nothing to worry about. During the two months of separation I was so anxious and upset i begged God to kill me. I couldn't sleep or eat. I threw up and cried all the time. Slowly while begging God to kill me I found peace in the pain. I found Jesus in the healing process. I turned my life over and never looked back. I got a call from him one day asking to meet up at the river. I agreed. We met up. Upon meeting him there he had this sense of peace and calmness around him. Real genuine peace. He asked to pray with me and we did. We talked about everything calmly for the first time in the history of our entire relationship. He told me he broke it off with her and wanted to move forward. We did. We had a very happy year where we put each other first. I trusted him completely. He didn't raise his hand or voice to me. Then he cheated again with the same coworker. He was ready to leave me for her before deciding to stay. I called her because and we argued for a few moments on speaker with him in the car. I she made a comment about how at least she could have kids. (He told her I can't have kids. I have PCOS and Endometriosis) that hurt. I found myself in that moment unsure of why i was yelling at her. I calmed down and we both told him he needed to make a decision because this wasn't fair to either of us. After a long silence he told me "I'm sorry (my name) but i just have really strong feelings for (coworkers name)" She told him she needs time to think and that she hopes we can be friends. I was gutted and numb. I slipped off my wedding band and gave it to him. He made no attempt to give it back. I told him "I know I paid for it but you can keep it." We hung up and continued to drive to his grandparents home. When we pulled up I pulled out his phone and dialed her number one more time. I told her it was me as soon as she answered so she wasn't caught off guard. Somewhere in the heat of the argument earlier on she confessed that he admitted to being a serial cheater and that she can deal with that. But i couldn't let two things go the comment about being able to have a baby and the fact that even though he confessed to cheating he never confessed to the physical or emotional abuse. I told her "Hey, it's me. Look I need you to know something if he truly is choosing you because it's only fair you hear it before making that mistake I did. I know he told you about the cheating but did he ever tell you about the physical abuse at his hands?" She told me no that's when I told her "I didn't think so. I think you have a right to know especially as a mom if he is going to be around your kid. I most importantly think you need to hear it from the source and not me." With that i handed the phone over to my husband and calmly told him. "Here she deserves to know what truly happened during our entire relationship." He took the phone and told her everything and before he hung up I took the phone off speaker and told her the final comment weighing on my mind. I let her know "Hey girl it's just you and me now. I have you off speaker. I need to tell you one final thing you made me aware of that he never told you. You made the comment 'at least i can have a baby' well the truth is I was able to get pregnant. In fact early on in our relationship I miscarried. I went to the hospital because the tests told me they were positive and I was having horrible pains in my stomach. Clay even though we had a doctors confirmation didn't believe me for a brief minute because I didn't have to have a D&C. I talked to my regular doctor and it turns out the reason I didn't require one was because it was early enough that the body would take care of it itself." She felt horrible and kept apologizing. We hung up for the night and went into talk to his mom and aunts. After some great conversation with his wonderful family we were driving home. Halfway home he attempted to hand me back my wedding band. I pushed it back at his three times and then told him "I don't want that back unless you are absolutely 100% sure this is what you want. Because I am done with this game. I'm told old for this cheating and abuse shit. I love you and it's going to hurt like hell to leave you but after two months it got easier so I'm sure I can do it again." He told me he was so sure and that his aunt and mom was right. He wants to make it work. I told him I'll take it back under one condition you break it off with her completely. Block her across the board on all social media, your phone and you go from a smart phone to a flip phone until you can earn it back. How does that sound?" He agreed and broke it off with her. He still has her blocked. It's only been since February so we will see. I don't have much hope for this anymore. I'm ready to find out how long he can go being faithful so that i can move on. I will hate myself if i don't give it one last try but this time my hearts not into doing the work anymore. So i'll be okay either way. I will be honest he has quit taking his medicine again so he's been short and I am kind of fearful of him at this point because I can't do that again. So far he has been better than usual but when he raises his voice or moves to fast i find myself afraid of him. I'll keep you posted.

24M. I am curious what a girls opinion of a guy who does not use social media like Instagram. I have an account, but I keep it deactivated. A girl (24F) I’ve been hu with for about 1.5 months wanted me reactivate my account so I can see what stories and posts from her. I agreed for a little, but deactivated it again the other week. She asked if I saw her stories from the holiday weekend, and I said I deactivated my account again. She asked why and then was messing w me saying “I’m too cool”, but overall didn’t seem to care. I am curious what others think?
Is it a turn off? Weird, creepy, etc.? I don’t think I’m too cool, I just hate the idea of social media and how unauthentic it is. Everything is so artificial. I also am genuinely happier and my mental health is so much better when I don’t know what is going on in other people’s lives (if that makes sense). I haven’t posted a pic since May 2018. I’m also somewhat introverted, but I dont think that makes much of a difference cause plenty of introverts are active on social media.
I do understand from a perspective of a girl meeting a guy first time/dating apps and wanting to make sure he isn’t some psycho serial killer. But is there a way around this? I notice a lot of girls opting to follow each other on Instagram rather than giving out numbers to strangers. This has been a hurdle for me when meeting girls at bars or apps. Is there a workaround?

So I’m playing through Persona 5 again for the 18 quintillionth time and I kinda wanted to do a sort of “arc review” type thing. Just give my thoughts on each arc of the game. Since there are 9, I’ll be ranking each one out of 9. So the “worst” one will be 9/9, but I’ll also be doing them in order. I hope that makes sense.
Also I wanted to start by saying that I don’t think any of these arcs are BAD. Even the worst ones, if put into 99% of other games, would be the best part of that game. It’s just that in comparison to the rest of P5 they have some issues that I feel are hard to overlook. But I mean, hell, this is my favorite game of all time. I’ve put like… multiple thousands of hours into it at this point between Vanilla and Royal. So even with the issues I have, none of them are big enough to break my absolute love for this game. So keep that in mind as I make some critiques, because even the biggest problem in this game isn’t exactly a problem. It’s like… the equivalent of losing a single penny.
Now, onto the criteria. I’ll be judging the arcs on a few different things. The story, the primary characters that are focused on, the palace ruler, and the palace itself, which includes the boss (or sometimes bosses). Though these do get a bit rambly, and sometimes these things sort of flow into each other, but those are the general concepts I’m looking at. So with that in mind, let’s begin…
Kamoshida - Palace Ranking: 3/9
So taking into account that Kamoshida is our “tutorial” Palace, I am going to give him some liberties. Firstly, I usually prefer villains with a little “more” to them. We’ll get into this a bit more later, but in my opinion a good villain - even one who is unrepentantly evil - needs to have a reason behind their evil that makes sense in context for them. Kamoshida’s “reason” is basically that he’s already peaked and… somehow that’s tied to sexual assault? I don’t want to say him beating the kids “makes sense” but given the context of it being the volleyball team, and his whole thing about having a drive to succeed and meet his previous peak kinda makes some level of sense. But the thing is, that isn’t focused on enough in my eyes. But because he’s our tutorial antagonist, I’m more willing for him to have less depth. It’s the same reason I don’t expect Henchy McUnderling to have a backstory, but I expect the main boss to have one.
That said, the story here is great despite that. This arc does a phenomenal job of really pulling the player into the story, because it’s one of the few arcs where the protagonist is under direct threat from the villain. I mean sure, later palaces do have the deadline and whatnot but let’s be real, Madarame doesn’t know Joker from a hole in the ground. He’s under threat by proxy of Yusuke, not so much himself. But it also, somehow, does a good job of presenting TWO party members with equal stake in the plot here as well. We’ll see later a time when this does NOT work, but here we have both Ryuji and Ann dealing with Kamoshida, and sort of representing him as both a past and present threat. Ryuji is against him for his previous actions against him and his friends, whereas Ann is against him for his actions against her and her friends presently. And that brings me into the characters of this arc… so I personally think Ann and Ryuji are two of the best members of the Phantom Thieves. They’re such core parts of the team, they’re always doing something for the team in each arc, and they’re probably the two who are the best “presented” members. I’ll get more into what I mean on that later, but the gist is that they feel like very front and center parts of their recruitment arc, unlike some others.
I also like the Palace. I don’t have any particular insights into this one, though. The puzzles are fine. The boss fight is fine. The encounters are fine. The music is fine…. The aesthetic is immaculate, but otherwise it’s sort of just solid. I think it’s a good entry point that always feels nostalgic once you’re further into the game.
So yeah, Kamoshida’s arc is really good. There just happen to be better arcs overall. But for the tutorial, it’s a REAL masterclass.
Madarame - Palace Ranking: 7/9
So Madarame falls a bit from Kamoshida in my eyes. Let’s start with the good - Yusuke. Remember how with Kamoshida I said that Joker isn’t really threatened so much in later arcs? That’s the case here, because the threat is almost solely on Yusuke. But what’s interesting with Yusuke is that, at first, WE are presented as the “villains” here, at least from his perspective. With the Kamoshida arc, nobody really sees Joker, Ryuji, and Ann as the aggressors. The whole school is under Kamoshida’s thumb and everyone knows what he’s doing, but they feel powerless to stop him. With Madarame, Yusuke is almost in a sort of Stockholm Syndrome mindset where he feels Madarame’s actions are just, and believes he’s simply helping the man who raised him. It’s interesting to see the flip when we enter the Metaverse and Yusuke sees the “true” Madarame as the monster he is. I didn’t mention it before, but I think the best part of (most) of the awakenings is that the characters are struck with some kind of realization before it happens. For Ryuji, he learns that Kamoshida’s provocation was premeditated with the intention of getting rid of the competition for his volleyball team. For Ann, she learns that Kamoshida raped her best friend. But for Yusuke, his realization is more about himself. He learns that HE was wrong, as well as the fact that Madarame never cared for him and was just using him, and it’s cool. That said the rest of this arc is… whatever. Madarame is slightly better than Kamoshida in his motivations, but worse in that he’s nowhere near as present or threatening, we don’t really get to SEE a lot of the issues Yusuke faces with Madarame like we do with Kamoshida, and overall I find his palace a bit less memorable. I will say I like the Saiyuri “puzzle”, and I think the boss fight is really good, but that’s pretty much all I have to say regarding it.
It doesn’t quite draw you in as well as Kamoshida, Madarame isn’t presented as well as Kamoshida, and the palace isn’t quite as potent. But like I said, I don’t find any of these arcs to be “bad”. I just think Madarame is sort of lower on the “good” spectrum.
Kaneshiro - Palace Ranking: 9/9
Now, I’ve always had a lot of issues with Kaneshiro’s arc. Mostly because it feels to me like a “filler” arc in anime. The general things with filler arcs are… characters acting out of character, established lore and trends being ignored for the sake of “cool factor”, and story that doesn’t necessarily directly tie into the overall narrative. All three of those apply to this arc, and stem from one thing: Makoto.
I’ll be real, when I first played P5 I hated Makoto. Every time I replay the game she grows a little more on me, but she’s still my 2nd to least favorite Phantom Thief, and there are a few reasons. First - and the thing that made me initially hate her - is her role in this palace. She’s initially presented as an antagonist. And that would be fine if she actually was an antagonist. But the thing is we’re supposed to like this character, and the first like… 10 interactions we have with her are her being super condescending, petty, and antagonistic. But every interaction AFTER that with her, especially in this palace but also in later palaces, relies on either “tell don’t show”, previously established rules being broken, or mischaracterizing the other characters. So let me explain a bit more about these. First, “tell don’t show” refers primarily to the idea that the audience is told information, but not being presented information. It’s a lot more impactful to SEE Yusuke’s art than to just be told “Yusuke is a talented artist”. With Makoto, a lot of the time, the game TELLS us that she’s smart, but doesn’t show it. She either does something dumb (this happens a lot in this arc) or manages to do something because the rest of the team suddenly becomes less intelligent. For example, early on in her recruitment she asks how the Thieves typically go about strategizing to steal treasures, and the cast goes “Um… Strat-of-gees? What are that?” at which point Makoto goes “Wait.. you fucking idiots don’t make plans? Fuck it. I’ll do it then.” and then… nothing changes. Even if you ignore the fact that the previous palace had one of the most Sly Cooper-ish heists ever with a lot of planning and many moving parts, Makoto becoming the “team strategist” doesn’t make any overall difference. We handle every single palace following this one the same way. And this continues through the whole palace. “We’re faced with two enemies who are too strong to take on at the same time. What do we do?” “Hmm…. hummm…. Uhhhh… duhhhhhh….” “Why don’t we lure one away?” “OMG KWEEN UR DA MOST SMORT”. And this extends to her awakening as well. In all previous and future awakenings, the characters have some kind of realization. I mentioned this before. But Makoto… doesn’t. Kaneshiro just goes “Yeah. I’m gonna expect you to pay me a bunch of money and if you don’t, I’ll blackmail you into slavery” which we had already known he would do. That’s the entire reason we were investigating him. That’s what he outright says to us in his club. So why does him REPEATING himself here cause Makoto to awaken? I don’t know. She doesn’t even have any link to this guy, which is another issue with the arc. Kaneshiro himself has nothing close to the same level of threat, characterization, screen time, or even backstory. All we know about him is that he “crawled his way out of the dregs” and that is quite literally it.
The palace itself is also… pretty middling. I find the bank itself to be pretty bland, the lettenumber puzzle is boring and simplistic, and the boss fight is probably the… second worst one.
Now the thing is that if you stuffed this arc into like… Dragon Quest or something (obviously with requisite changes to fit that world), it would probably be the best part of that game. And don’t get me wrong, I played DQ11 and generally enjoyed it. But it’s really carried by a lot of its characters, so having an actually decent arc would make this the best part of that game. But compared to the rest of P5 it really stands out as being the worst part of the game.
That said, Price rocks.
Futaba - Palace Ranking: 2/9
Now for a complete flip, we have one of the best arcs. For starters, I do think this is my actual favorite Palace in general. The layout, theming, puzzles, dynamic storytelling, and most prominently the MUSIC make the actual palace immaculate. My sole issue with it is that the boss fight is less a fight, and more of an interactive set piece. I think overall it is, technically, the “worst” boss because it’s barely a boss. But at the same time, what it does for the story of the palace is really good. So I end up sort of split on it. But that is literally the only part of this palace that is even moderately middling.
The rest of this Palace is absolutely, completely fucking amazing.
First, this palace has the unique case of being the single one where the palace ruler becomes a party member. The entire palace is us learning about Futaba. There isn’t even really an “antagonist” in this arc entirely. Now, that isn’t necessarily good or bad on its own, but given how important Futaba is to the overall plot, and how this palace itself sort of kicks off the overarching plot points with Shido, his cronies, and the Metaverse as a whole, it’s great that this section isn’t bogged down with an additional major player. Normally we have something like Yusuke, Madarame, and the plot as it pertains specifically to those two characters. Here, we just have Futaba, and the plot as it pertains to her… BUT that plot also pertains to the game’s story at large, where someone like Madarame’s doesn’t necessarily do that.
It also helps that I fucking adore Futaba. She is one of the best written characters in this game, and Erica Goddamn Linbeck never fails to deliver in this role. Futaba is one of the few characters in media who can just make me cry. Even the most innocuous scene is up for some waterworks as long as Futaba does that fucking whimpery voice crack. And the thing is, you don’t actually MEET Futaba until basically the end of her Palace, and somehow the game does an amazing job of making you love this girl who you have basically never spoken to before.
The palace itself is also amazing. And again, it does something that the others don’t really do. It mixes distortion with personality. Here’s what I mean; Kamoshida’s palace is cool as hell because it’s so distorted. It’s a big-ass, super cool castle. But the thing is… Kamoshida’s whole thing is volleyball, and there’s nothing in the castle that really screams “volleyball” to me outside of… well, the volleyball team having cognitive versions in there. But it’s not the same. With Futaba, we have a big pyramid complete with traps, mummies, quick sand, murals, etc. But it also has a techy element to it because Futaba is a hacker. There’s code all over the place. One of the puzzles is a binary code puzzle. And that’s what I mean. We get to see a little of Futaba’s personality and interests in the palace, as opposed to just “This is a castle”, “ this is a bank”. Or Madarame where his distortion is almost explicitly about his interests and not quite as crazy.
Futaba’s palace strikes a perfect balance in so many ways, making it into one of the best parts of this game.
Oh. And also, The Days When My Mother Was There is one of the best tracks in all of Persona.
Okumura - Palace Ranking: 8/9
Let’s be real, a lot of people feel like this is the worst part of the game, and I kinda see why. It’s just that, for me, the only thing elevating it above Kaneshiro is that it’s actually plot critical and doesn’t feel like lame filler fluff. Buuut it kind of has the opposite effect of Futaba’s palace, where there you had a very focused narrative about a few specific, interwoven things, here you have three plots trying to all fight for the spotlight, and they sort of fit together like a chain. 1 and 2 link, 2 and 3 link, but 1 and 3 do not. We have the Morgana and Ryuji fight which… I feel is kind of pointless? The thing is that Morgana didn’t really need an arc here. Morgana gets TWO arcs and in my opinion, neither one feels quite complete. I think it would have been better to just cut this arc and focus more on him learning that he isn’t human. Heck, he could still meet Haru this way. He accidentally takes her into the Metaverse while sneaking off and investigating on his own or something. We get worried, go looking for him, run into him after Sugiura kicks Morgana into a wall, bada bing bada boom everything is better. Because then we can focus the entire arc on Haru, and just have Morgana be the quick and easy catalyst for finding her.
Kinda on that same framework, Okumura falls into the same unfortunate pitfall as Kaneshiro where we barely get to even see the guy. He’s got a collective 10 minutes of screen time, if that, and all it really boils down to is “He wants to be a wealthy politician”. Heck, we don’t even learn what his real corrupting moment was until the Palace is over and Haru kinda exposits it.
Next we have the palace itself. While the theme of it is cool as hell, the palace itself is very bland. People hate the airlock puzzle but honestly, that was the most fun and engaging part of it for me. It's the only part of the palace that feels wacky, conceptual, cool, and requires at least one functioning brain cell.
And finally… the boss fight. I hate this boss. Here’s the thing, people will argue in circles about whether or not it’s hard, but the difficulty isn’t really the issue. The issue is that it feels like a tutorial fight, where the devs had expectations for what the player had been focusing on. If you hadn’t, you’d be fucked. Did you hang out with Hifumi enough to get her party swap ability? I hope so, or you can go fuck yourself. If you didn’t, did you happen to put Morgana and Haru in your party for the final two waves of enemies? I hope so, or you can go fuck yourself. Did you get Personas that deal high wind and psy damage to all enemies? I hope so, or you can go fuck yourself. Did you rank Haru and Morgana up to 3 in darts? I hope so, or you can go fuck yourself. This boss relies so much on so many moving pieces that you are effectively required to use unless you’re a madman who built a full 99 stat almighty Izanami to Myriad Truths your way through the game. It feels like a tutorial on Baton passing, but without explaining that that’s what’s necessary, without giving you the necessary tools for it, and without catering to the way that “you” chose to play. And to me, that’s bad game design. All fights should, in theory, be possible with any build, any play style, any tools. Yeah, sometimes they may be harder, but here the fight is quite literally not possible if you don’t play the way they want you to play, or don't come in with an NG+ 99 stat Satanael like I did for this particular playthrough.
That said, the arc really moves up from last place due to the finale. Futaba’s palace brought the overarching plot into the background, looming there behind you, but here it’s thrown right into the spotlight. This is the new focus.
Sae - Palace Ranking: 4/9
Now, a lot of people would list this as their favorite Palace, and honestly I can kinda see why. If the Okumura arc is the main plot being put front and center, this is them shooting you in the face with it like a serial killer in an interrogation room.
The thing is that this arc has “the twist” and I’ll be real, even to this day “the twist” is one of the most insane things I’ve seen in a game, without feeling unnecessary. AKA it’s crazy, but it doesn't read like it was written by Hideo Kojima or Suda51. It’s also great for characterization of two people we already know. See, unlike past palaces which introduce and build new characters, here we’re building Akechi and Sae - two people we already know, but haven’t spent a lot of direct time with. That said… I also think this should have involved Makoto more. Yeah, maybe it would have bogged things down, but I mentioned earlier that Makoto doesn’t really get her own arc during the Kaneshiro debacle, and now when we have the perfect opportunity to give her one, she just kinda sits in the background. She doesn’t get to confront her sister. She doesn’t get to have “a moment”. She just sits back while Joker and Akechi headline the tour, with everyone else on backups. Heck, even “the plan” is like 90% Futaba, 5% Morgana, and 5% Joker. She does not get to do a singular fucking thing in her own sister’s arc. And I wouldn’t be as upset if she actually got to be a major player with Kaneshiro, and if that arc were just better, but she doesn’t, and it isn’t. So she feels wasted TWICE.
I also kind of have an issue with the palace itself. Yes yes, Whims of Fate is really good. But holy fuck for a Casino you sure don’t spend much time doing actual casino shit. 90% of this palace is just walking around drab, gray hallways and it’s kinda… bland? I’m in a Casino, man. I wanna be interacting with the casino floor. I wanna feel like I’m on the Golden Saucer, not like I’m walking through the back of a post office.
The story overall really carries this palace for me. It’s got an insane twist, great characterization for Akechi and Sae, and is the moment where everything reaches a fever pitch. I consider the end of this Palace to be the beginning of the climax, which carries all the way through to the end of the next palace. Though… that’s an issue of its own, but we’ll get there later.
Look, I do like this arc. I just think it has so much wasted potential, and is heavily carried by the overarching plot and characters, and kind of let down by the palace itself.
Also Sae not being a romance option is a sin. Atlus, you have not fulfilled your penance. Salvation shall not be yours.
Shido - Palace Ranking: 5/9
Shido’s palace is another one where people really really love it and I… I mean I think it's fine. But for a “finale” I’m not super thrilled with it.
Let's talk about my main problem first; Shido himself. In my opinion, a main antagonist should be someone who is incredibly present. Even in something like a mystery where we aren't supposed to know the villain, we should still know who the character is very well until the reveal. But Shido doesn't really feel that way. He’s in maybe 5 to 10 scenes across the whole game prior to his arc, we don't know anything about him other than “wants to rule Japan”, we know nothing of his background or motivations. All we know is that he's a shit heel. And like I said earlier, that's fine for someone like Kamoshida - our tutorial boss. It's far less fine in my opinion for our main antagonist.
I’m also not the biggest fan of the Palace itself. Yeah, the boat is cool or whatever, but I find the actual plot of the palace to be a bit of a slog. There aren't really any crazy reveals, the puzzles are more annoying than fun, and it ends up feeling more like a standard fare dungeon crawl since we don't really learn anything during it.
That said, the palace does cap off with one of the coolest boss fights. Shido’s fight is really cool, and I love how epic his calling card is. But there’s one thing I really need to talk about that really elevates this palace.
Akechi. Akechi is what I think a villain SHOULD be. We meet him early on, he slowly becomes more and more present in the narrative, he eventually joins our team, only to betray us. He has so much build up, such a well realized arc, and the reasons for what he does are stated to us at the end after being hinted at before, but not being outright presented, so when we learn about it, it feels much more impactful. I also love what Royal did for him. I still think he’s pretty great in the original, but making his anger progress from just wanting to take down Shido, to now having a petty grudge against a “friend” who outsmarted and defeated him feels like a perfect capstone for everything that’s been set up. I also strangely like his “death”. I know a lot of people don’t like it, but I dunno. I think it works well.
So yeah. When this is the Akechi palace it’s great. When it’s the Shido palace it’s… it’s fine. The boss fight slaps though.
Yaldabaoth - Palace Ranking: 6/9
Now, this one is kinda personal, and deals with the last issue I mentioned. Yaldy here is technically our final boss. I mean, he was for the vanilla game at least, and I’ve always had an issue with how Persona game, and most JRPGs in general, handle the whole “kill god” thing. If you are going to do that, we need to KNOW God, just like any other character. Here, he’s not someone we know, and he comes out of nowhere. And I know people are gonna go “Um exkweeze me wat do u meen? We no Igor from start of game dumazz?” Yeah. Let’s talk about this. 1. There is no reason to suspect Igor is god, for both new and returning players. 2. Because we don’t know him, there’s no narrative impact for beating him. 3. There’s no reason to actually think he is in any way competent or reasonable, because his whole argument is “mankind deserves to die because I set up a rigged test to prove a point in the least scientific way possible by forcing it so that no other outcome happens.” and it’s the stupidest shit. 4. There is no distinct reason for him to be God. Once he reveals he is the grail, he is a 100% different guy. You could make Yaldy be Shido, or Kawakami, or the old guy who listens to the radio in Yongen for all it matters. He is not a character. He’s a big, stupid fucking robot and yeah, that’s cool and all, but it’s not narratively impactful for our “final” challenge to just be some random fuck who showed up out of nowhere, and is only in the 120 hour game for about 3 of those hours. This whole arc would be like if a major, 100+ episode anime set up a massive, world ending threat who we get to know over a length of time, and is considered one of the greatest anime antagonists, only to sweep him to the side and bring a rabbit alien god in out of nowhere.
Oh… wait…
Anyway, stupid-ass worthless-ass final boss aside, I actually do like the rest of this arc. The characterization and twist for Lavenza, the arc for Morgana, and most importantly, the Palace itself. It’s shorter than the rest, but I absolutely adore the Mementos depths. The design, the puzzles, and above all the MUSIC are all absolutely amazing.
And for as much as I complained about Yaldy… there really isn’t anything quite like summoning a giant, six-winged archdemon to shoot God in the face with a gun-sword.
So yeah. This Palace is fun, has some great story beats, and does feel pretty cinematic and climactic. I just don’t like that the “climax” revolves around some random dude showing up and going “It was me all along, Barry!” and you’re like “I’m sorry, who are you?”
Maruki - Palace Ranking: 1/9
And boy am I glad Royal makes a more climactic ending. Now this is going to sound weird considering I ranked this as number 1, but I DO have issues with this arc. And that issue is uh… Kasumi..? Sumire..? Whatever. The thing is I find it hard to blame the arc itself for my issues with her because they kind of span the entire game, but it all comes to a head here. I well and truly believe this game could go from a Tetratrillion / 10 to a Tetratrillion-and-1 / 10 if she just… weren’t in the game. Because I think basically every scene she’s in that is not directly dealing with her takes away from that scene. And I think her inclusion in this arc takes away from it. HOWEVER, her stuff is dealt with quickly, while also building up other plot points, the Palace ruler, and a certain other character who we will get to shortly.
But despite my minor gripes with her, this arc is absolutely fantastic for a few reasons.
Let’s start with the Palace itself. It rocks. The puzzles are fun and make a lot of sense for the ruler, the music fucking slaps, it's got a great narrative structure where it basically makes us take a look into the past of the character it focuses on, and the overall style suits it perfectly. It's this excellent blend of mad science and ideology.
Next we have the overall story of the arc and it is done so well. Basically, the Palace ruler wants to create a “perfect world” where everyone is always happy, suffering doesn't exist, etc. And it's great because he is the only antagonist who isn't really presented as being “wrong.” Even Futaba and Sae, whose palace end with them effectively “healing” and becoming good people again, are still presented as being incorrect. However they don't really do that here. It truly is just a battle of ideology between the ruler and the Thieves, where the Thieves believe that they can, and should, intervene where necessary, but overall people need to strive and thrive on their own once the Thieves break down whatever is holding them back. But their opponent here believes that people shouldn't strive for greatness, or grab opportunity by the horns. “You don't need to strive for greatness. Believe in me.” Are the lines to his theme song, and they encapsulated his entire concept perfectly. He isn't painted as someone you hate. He isn't necessarily painted as wrong. He's painted as someone we disagree with, and that's not something we’ve seen before.
Next, we have Akechi (again). This game has a fantastic cast, with Akechi being one of the standouts for me. This arc plays as a sort of epilogue for him. His story “ended” with him concluding that he was wrong, that he should live how he wants, and that maybe he DOES have friends who care about him. Even Ryuji, the guy who rags on Akechi the most, begins choking up at the end after Akechi disappears, because he doesn't really hate him. They all - Futaba and Haru included - realize he's just a victim in all this. But the best part for me is how he concludes this arc. At the end he’s given a choice - accept the fake reality and live, or deny it and risk a world where he may be dead. After all, we don't know if he truly died (I'm of the opinion he didn't based on the post credit scene) but he doesn't know that. And without even a second's hesitation he says “Don’t think dangling my life before us will have any impact on our decision.”. He spent his whole life living under Shido’s foot, striving only for a childish revenge that he was denied, and learning eventually that he has friends who accept him not as the righteous detective prince, but as… Goro Akechi. And he wants to die on those terms if he can, as opposed to being forced to live in a fake world under someone else’s rule.
And that brings us to the ruler. Takuto Maruki. Now I’ve already touched on why he's so effective from the standpoint of his ideals, but there's more to him. First, unlike our other main baddies, we actually know him. We first meet him after Kamoshida’s palace, and he is a constant presence throughout. But the most important part is that you are required to get to know him. If you don't max out his confidant, you don't get this ending. The game ends with Yaldy. So not only is he constantly around within the narrative, but his side content actually becomes main content. It is required. And that is very important for us. Because if he was just some random guy we had never met who shows up and goes “yeah I wanna stop all suffering” then like… Great? But I don't have a reason to trust you. I do have a reason for Maruki. He DOES want the best, even if he's a bit misguided, and we’ve learned just what kind of person he is over the last 100 hours. It makes it all the harder to fight him because yeah, you disagree with him, and it's already hard enough to break everyone else’s dreams, but now you’re directly spitting in the face of his dreams, too. It is masterfully done.
And so is the finale. Maruki’s boss fight is so well done. It's the perfect mix of actual gameplay and spectacle WITH an emotional payoff, which Yaldy lacked. The first section is a crazy blend of the Madarame and Yaldy’s fight, and it works perfectly. But after that first phase we enter big cool spectacle zone of fighting a 100 foot tall monolith of a Persona, all culminating in a one on one fist fight between Joker and Maruki as he vents his frustrations at losing.
It is done perfectly. This arc is absolutely phenomenal. It's so emotional, so well structured, so well built, and such a perfect way to end this amazing experience. After my first experience with the original P5 I did not think they could make my favorite game ever even better. And somehow they did.

I'm planning to switch completely to OpenBSD for day-to-day tasks and set up a Lenovo ThinkCentre with a Ryzen 2400G (Vega 8 graphics) for that. I successfully installed and set up Xfce. I noticed very high CPU usage and choppyness during operations which should be hardware accelerated (e.g. video playback) and started to investigate. According to everything I could gather, the OS tells me that GPU decoding is enabled while the programs (tested with Firefox, Blender and VLC) don't seem to be able to use it.

In Firefox, I tried forcing hardware acceleration with these settings: media.hardware-video-decoding.force-enabled layers.acceleration.force-enabled But I believe that this issue lies somewhere else, since the other mentioned programs can't use hw acceleration either.

Another, perhaps related quirk is that my monitor, when connected over HDMI, doesn't get recognized as an ultrawide. I compensate for that using an xrandr script which Xfce calls on login.
Disabling that script doesn't allow hw acceleration either.
One user on Reddit had a similar issue whicht hey could fix by disabling ReBar, but my ThinkCentre doesn't expose an option for that in the UEFI. The only GPU-related settings in the UEFI are the dedicated DRAM portion for the GPU (512 MB) and IOMMU (tried toggling it, already).

I originally joined Reddit because I wanted to investigate a boy who went missing in my hometown. Dorien Thomas went for a bike ride to a friend’s house on October 26, 1998 and has never been seen or heard from again. They never even found his bike. At the time, he was a 9 year old African American child living on what would be considered the poor side of Amarillo, TX. Less than a year before he went missing, he and a friend found the murdered body of a woman who was believed to be a prostitute. That murder is still unsolved. Neither has the murder of one of her friends a month later, also believed to be a prostitute. Many of the people around here believe that something bad befell this boy because of the discovery of that body but I honestly am not so sure. I do not know what happened to the other boy who was there but I don’t think that he is missing or murdered. Some people believe that he was the victim of a serial killer who was in the area around the time of his disappearance. That man has since killed himself and cannot provide any answers. Things like this truly do not happen in Amarillo and I do not understand why this story is not more heavily covered by the news. The family of Dorien Thomas deserves answers. I’m sure many of the true crime aficionados here know that it is common for people of color to receive less media coverage so I’m wondering if Dorien’s case is not an isolated incident. Is there anyone here from a state surrounding Texas who has heard of a similar case? New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas or Louisiana? A couple of major highways intersect in Amarillo, TX so we see a lot of travelers. I’m hoping that if there are other cases like this nearby then maybe we can find some answers.
EDIT: I am sorry. I am new to making my own posts rather than commenting on others and I realize now that I wasn’t clear. I’m looking for cases similar to this one in states neighboring Texas. Suspicious disappearances or murders of boys in Dorien’s age group (8-11 maybe) especially if they are children of color. I came to Reddit because of how little original news coverage there is of Dorien’s story. If you know his name/where he’s missing from and are looking for him specifically then it’s easy to find more recent articles about him. Especially since there have been several times that our police department thought that they had new updates on the case. But I’m not looking for more information on Dorien. I believe that the working theory that the Amarillo police department has is wrong and I’m looking for similar cases that can potentially be linked to him. Other missing boys or possibly even boys who have been found deceased. Their stories may not be recirculating if there are no new developments and there could be a similar disappearance or murder in some small town that I may not otherwise find out about. So, do you have a case in your town that has any similarities to the disappearance of Dorien Thomas? Solved or unsolved, I’d like to hear about it, please.

Whenever I play a youtube video in Firefox, Discord, or even in FreeTube I have this issue. It persists with or without hardware acceleration, fullscreen, theater mode, normal mode, or embedded.
I will get the video going no problem. After moving the mouse away or just leaving it still, the overlay will hide itself as expected. However as soon as I do anything to cause the overlay to reappear, it has an ~80% of causing the entire display to hang while the audio continues for 5 or so seconds. Sometimes on the longer instances the audio will begin to loop a little. Then everything will snap back and I can interact with the video via mouse controls again.
My system info is copied out below. Does anyone know what I need to update or reinstall to solve this issue? It's persistent in both my VM testing, on the Live USB, and on the spare SSD I'm running on right now. I installed the OS Saturday and this is the only problem among my normal computer uses.
Thank you for any advice or assistance, I'm trying to get clear of Windows before 10 hits end of life.

Since this is an omegaverse here are some links for people to better understand what omegaverse is in general. Keep in mind this one is a more family-oriented anime with children so some of the more sexy aspects of knotting and rutting probably won't be focused on.
