Ways to write names

Hi, been attempting to write a ghost story but I can't find the way in which my ghost will make its first moves haunting my protagonist. The first part of the story happens in the limits of a single bedroom and the ghost is actually the teenage version of the protagonist. What have been the most scary scenes of a "first manifestation" to you anywhere in horror lit?
I've been going back a lot into Carmen Maria Machado, Mariana Enríquez and aspects of Hill House to come up with things but I want to see what others have to say. As i'm really looking for inspiration and reads that can leap me to it. Thank you!!

I've been working for my current company as an IT coordinator for about 2 years now. I started as a material handler, then worked my way up to becoming a trainer and finally the IT guy. It's an administrative position that I take pride in..., but due to a change in management and taking away our VTO, I've decided to look for employment elsewhere. I've gained Microsoft 365 experience, writing professional emails, submitting RMAs/RITMs, just to name a few things. I used to do a lot of data entry working for my mother's business, so that helps.
My resume is pretty good as well as my cover letters, yet I'm still struggling to get a job that pays about the same if not (slightly) more. Yes, I have a LinkedIn, but the only people who respond to me are scammers. I'm mostly trying to find a clerical job where I can do computer work. My plan is to eventually work part-time too due to needing extra saving money. Any advice?

They part ways with Draco following his family and Hermione going on the Horcrux hunt where she discovers she was pregnant but eventually has a miscarriage. They end up going back to school in eight year and I think they reconcile.

I work in sales. My boss sends a report out weekly that’s an important part of our metrics, called the Penetration Report. It’s a list of the remaining accounts we need to contact that month, with the goal of reaching 95% “account penetration” by the end of the month.
I can barely refer to the report without cringing. The department is overwhelmingly male, and they’re trying to get it to be more balanced. I suggested that one way to make women feel more welcome would be to change the name of the report. Other people agree, which honestly, thank god. And since it was my idea, I get to help come up with the new name.
The new name needs to meet the following criteria: 1. Must be “exciting” 2. Must be simple 3. Must include the sense of gaining insight/data on an account - like, we’ve really “penetrated” an account if we were able to get meaningful info about their business/show we had a real conversation. So something as simple as “Account Contact Report” doesn’t cut it.
ChatGPT suggested “Account Insight Report” which is decent, but I’d like to have a couple of ideas to offer. Help!

As the beautiful morning sun crests the peaks of the Nolden Mountain Range, illuminating the city of Princeton in it's ethereal glow, a subtle scent of unease hangs in the air...
It's been nearly a week since the end of the war, and yet, not a single soul in the country of Adelade feels the relief of the resolution to such a conflict. Dread so thick it could warm you in the winter frost hangs in the air and people go about their day with a moody trepidation that breeds nothing but more of this unease.
The local district baker opens his shop window, but he doesn't have that glowing smile on his face as he did before. His daughter, a young woman by the name of Sylvia, died in the war fighting for a cause that not many people agreed with. Adelade, with her saxum (One of the sister races of the human species) neighbors in the Nolden Kingdom, by all means "won" the war.
By all means, people should be celebrating. But why do they choose to remain somber? Bleak?
Well... They know. Everyone knows, hell, even the governments of the winning and losing sides both know. It was all an elaborate ruse. The war, the infighting, the civil unrest all over the continent of Aurum where these events have been taking place. They didn't see it until now, but it's so clear.
Southeast of Aurum, across the Sapphire Ocean, rests the colossal continent of Paladia. The whole region has been governed by a relatively new ideal that disrupted the status quo around eighty-odd years ago. The government of Paladia simply calls itself "The Republic."
Paladia was once ruled by a despotic tyrant in a line of succession named the Buckingham Dynasty. They were cruel feudal lords who controlled Paladia with an iron fist. But eighty-odd years ago, an incredibly violent revolution gripped the country, sparked by the cold-blooded summary execution of the entire Buckingham family tree, alongside many of the prominent nobility that circled the Buckinghams.
The revolution was long, drawn out, and many innocent people lost their lives, but the new ideal that stole the hearts of the people rose from the ashes with a zealous hatred for many traditional ideals, but most importantly: The ancient arts of Arcana, the worship of the gods, and the idea that governing power is born from blood, and not achieved.
These ideals are nearly a complete 180° from what the rest of the world had devoted their entire systems and ways of life to, so the backlash was heavy.
You see, magic, or Acana, in the world is gifted by ten divine artifacts known as the Arcane Crystals. Each of the five continents has two, and they act as conduits for Arcane powers to be utilized by any willing practitioners of the art. To practice, you must study in an Academy.
Wrapping back to Paladia, they destroyed their two crystals, vanquished the art of Arcana from every living and breathing being in the entire continent. They replaced their dependence on Arcana for a keen technological innovative society, growing arms and a military prowess the world had yet to see before, and they've been making small moves to enact their ultimate and final goal among the world... The complete destruction of Arcana across the world, and a new age born from steel and a new-era of innovation.
This is what the people on the continent of Aurum knew, this is what they've feared. The war between the north and south had weakened both sides so much that Paladian efforts to mobilize have become bolder, and it's clear they're going to make a move very soon... If Aurum falls, the world would be at the mercy of Paladia.

That was a lot, and I apologize for the random dumping of lore. I'm sure it was equivalent to whiplash, and there's a LOT more I've built onto this world. But ladies, gents, and everyone in-between, welcome to the world of Ardonia. My personal baby. I suppose I'm wanting to start playing with it a bit in the roleplay sector because I do want to create a novel out of it at some point, and roleplaying in the past has always helped my terrible ADHD brain focus on creative storytelling.

The following are some tips for trading on CUE (the best card app!!) I’ve picked up over 8 years on multiple card trading apps and would like to pass on that may not be common knowledge.
I’m not writing this out of frustration or anything lol. I’ve been around long enough and have seen it all xD. I write this because I wish I knew this when I started out or wasn’t as experienced, but once I applied it, it made a big difference.
My game has always been trading & collecting, so I applied myself to learn how to do it the best I can and it’s worked for me and I feel it would be of benefit to share.
This is not a sure fire guide as everyone manages their collections their way and values are subjective but more some info to help out. No trade is ever 100% gonna happen but this will give you the best possible shot :)
The most successful trades tend to be equal value ones, especially if it’s the same 1:1 value for each player. Logical, right?
Of course with values, trades may have multiple cards to help balance values but that’s usually a pre trade discussion or for more advanced trading, I’m referring to general, more common trades where you want a specific card.
1:1 value for value is your best bet. We all see quantity low end stuff for 1 good/great card and those usually end in a decline. Mostly because it’s one of the most common trades you will see and that’s usually not considered an overpay, just quantity.
So it helps to find/learn values or ask pre trade to get an evaluation if needed. This alone won’t 100% be accepted either. This should, however, be applied as often as you can though. Taking the time to learn values is the most important tool you can have for trading, it’s worth the time investment if you can.
Another variable is what to do if the person you’re trading with is complete/doesn’t need any card you have.
In this situation, while still applying the above 1:1 value, look for a card you have of equal value that they have less of, better yet if they don’t have a dupe and have a few of what you want from them.
It’s usually logical to balance dupes, it gives them a card to unlock or they have little of to trade for what they’re looking for while still potentially leaving them dupes of the card you’re taking. In the case they have 1 dupe of the card you want, send one they don’t have a dupe of. They’re more likely to decline if you take their last dupe and you’re giving them a card they already have dupes of even if same value because it takes a card out of play for one they have available already.
This next one is more my personal trading rule, but I feel it’s worth a mention. Respect people’s collections. I don’t send trades for singles. Unless it’s pre discussed I won’t send for them. Most people want to keep cards they have and not chase them again, I feel if they want to trade them, they’ll send it. So I only look for dupes. The only exception is when I go to counter and I see their original offer was a single on their side, this tells me they’re willing to trade a single so I’ll counter to one if there’s one I’m looking for. There’s more to this and I’ll touch on it another time.
Next, assume when you sent a trade and it was declined, they looked for a counter. I always do(look for a counter and assume they did too if I sent). It can irritate some people seeing the same trade repeated or slightly different cards but essentially the same value wise. The person you sent to knows with the first trade what you want, if they change their mind they’ll most likely send to you.
This is more for the novice/less experienced players, do not trade your level up cards. They can be difficult to get back. Especially the few ones that have value. Also, do not accept level ups from others, many don’t have much value and it’s common to see them be sent for limited cards. Until you’re familiar with values I’d recommend just not dealing with them or at least ask for an evaluation before hand.
Next, Some tips for dealing with collectors (not because I am one, but because they’re on every card app lol).
I have always been a collector and most of my dealings in all card apps I’ve been on are mainly with them, so here’s some stuff I see often that may help.
Most likely if they collect multiple copies of a card, they’re on a social platform. We usually have somewhere to post exactly what we offer so it’s worth while to check it out for successful trades as we trade exactly what we offer.
Next is a big no in my books and I’ve seen it often on these apps. Don’t try to push thru a bad trade by adding in a card they collect. For example, don’t send a low value Limited Legendary for a high value one 1:1 and add on their basic card they collect. It will usually not get accepted.
Half the time if you followed everything above then the collectors card may not be needed at all. Trust me collectors aren’t usually only after their cards, they do fair, logical trades also. Just makes sense lol.
If you want to trade a collector a card they collect and you are not sure what they offer for it, send it for something of the same value 1:1. Taking an overpay without knowing what over pay they offer could get declined. Collectors will usually send an overpay themselves or, again, post exactly what they offer which is usually an overpay as is.
I know it can take some time but hopefully these subtle but valuable tips lend to helping you improve your trading game.
This again isn’t an end all for getting every trade accepted as other factors can be involved, value, scarcity etc. But, they’ve been key for me and a staple for successful trading on every card app I’ve been on and hope they help you as well.

Hey y'all! I've been working on an outline for a slice of life story for a comic I'm making, and I just am not good at making it 'slice of life'. I have a few scenes outlined so far, but I just can't seem to find things that are not extremely repetitive.
The twist of the story is that the main character is a Deity and their girlfriend is secretly a superhero. My challenge to to end every chapter with 'I Love My Girlfriend."
So far, I have a couple scenes just in their apartment doing roommate/couple stuff, a few at the deity's (cover story) office work (with the TV reporting abt superhero events), and a scene with the super girlfriend's relative (who lives in their building)
Many of the characters are pretty fleshed out, but I just can't find creative and different ways to portray slices of the couple's life.
My goal is to keep both of their identities from the readers for as long as possible, with subtle hints and messages, most likely the superhero GF's identity guessed by the readers in the first five chapters.
Any advice on story writing or ideas for scenes? Thanks all!

So I just finished K:BS and after a couple haunted days and nights ruminating on all its horrifying glory I need to get some thoughts and questions off my chest.
First off, thanks to Matt Dinniman for creating this - like many others, I picked it up as a fix to get me through to the next DCC book, but I've actually found K:BS has stuck with me and affected me much more deeply than any of the DCC books. For anyone that has dealt with deep pain (emotional or physical), grief, or injustice, this book will hit hard. But (at least in my case) in a very meaningful and cathartic way.
Now, on to the questions.
In the end, I'm confused about why Claire is there and what role she had in the whole "operation". Her story was that she was essentially a plaything for various psychopaths from Jank to Smashsouth, pretty much in the same boat as Duke. We later learn this is most likely a complete lie. When Jank reveals the true "business plan" of the operation, he says something like "we never actually brought in any customers, other than Claire, although she was more of a consultant." This implies she was someone who had fantasies of pain/being tortured, and she was there willingly to help them "beta test" it before bringing in paying customers. Then she later says they made her an "employee" at the end of her consultancy, and at the very end of the book, Jank makes a reference to the fact that she chose Duke to be kidnapped and brought into the game as her "payment", which sounds pretty much exactly like the arrangement that the other "proctors"/psychopaths had (innocent victims were abducted, trapped in the game, and tortured by the proctors for their own sadistic amusement). But if Claire was really a proctor the whole time and Duke was just her "payment" (which I guess maybe explains why she tricked him into the Amplification ceremony?), then why was she trapped/locked in her rig just like Duke instead of being able to log in/out just like Jank and the others? And for that matter, why was she so terrified of Jank, if they were essentially peers? I get that she hated him (because they tricked her into him being the new guardian of her daughter), but she seemed to be legitimately terrified of him, just as a victim would be after escaping a serial killer's captivity or something. My only guess is that her multiple personality disorder must have something to do with this, like maybe all of the above is true, depending on which "Claire"'s perspective you take? Like maybe one version of her wants to be tortured, but to another one, it's well... torture? Another way to pose this question might be: "What would have happened if Anatoly and the others hadn't all been arrested right after trapping Duke in the game? Would Duke have been the plaything for one of the others? For Claire? What would Claire's role in the game have looked like if they hadn't all been arrested?"
Secondly, I don't really understand Duke's commitment to taking revenge on Jank. Jank's mercy on him is the only reason he's alive, and he actually always treated him with comparable decency and humanity (he interrupted the Amplification ceremony, he chose not to attack or harm Duke which he could have on multiple occasions, he turned off the "fix" to the bug that allows a person to escape the game if they beat it, he explained a lot of what was really going on, he never lied (from what we know), and most importantly, he's the one that decided to "burn the whole thing down" (i.e. turn in Anatoly and the others to the police, eliminate everyone that was involved, shut down the servers, etc.). He said he "never liked the illegal aspect of the beta phase" (i.e. the part where the abduct innocent people and torture them endlessly), and then of course, he's the one that tipped off the police to Duke's location at the end, which is the only reason he was able to survive (even if he was able to escape the rig, he'd still be trapped behind a concrete wall in a starving and atrophied state, essentially buried alive). Conversely, Claire is the true villain in my opinion; she intentionally and knowingly murdered his baby and then intentionally had him abducted and trapped in the game to be tortured endlessly, knowing that he had a partner (wife?) and a daughter that depended on him in the real world. I get that after killing Claire, Jank is really the only remaining piece of the whole thing and maybe he wants to wipe every piece of it off the face of the earth, but that revenge story just feels a bit lacking to me... like Duke shouldn't really hate him that much or something.
Anyway, I guess that's it - here's hoping Matt gets around to writing a sequel at some point, I really want to know what the deal is with the mysterious "puppet masters" that Duke hints at at the end (the ones that he suspects were really behind the prison murders of Anatoly and the proctors), as well as what becomes of Duke and his family in the end.

So I hang around these French students a lot and every time they dislike some kind of work we have to do they say something along the lines of “c’est chier”. I’m not sure that’s how you write it, it’s pronounced like I would pronounce the English “sheer” maybe with a bit harder “sh”. When I type chier into a translator the exemplary voices pronounce it as chié, so I’m not sure if it’s the same? Also if it’s that, the translator tells me it’s the verb to shit which grammatically doesn’t make sense to me in the way they use it. But maybe it’s slang, idk? Anyway, I wanna be one of the cool kids and use it too, so please don’t be shy and tell me all of the possible uses for this word 😅

Hi, as written in the post title, I would like to know if it is possible to not show the name column. It cause problem for my use case because it shows what is inside the notes and I couldn't find a way to not show it since everything related to the name relation is locked.
