2024.05.16 20:22 Mindless_Grocery_23 I want to quit but how do I?

Hi Reddit,
I've been working at a cafe now for under 2 months to get some extra money to pay off debt and have some extra money in my pocket. I have a full time job that is WFH, makes just enough pay, and I work with the loveliest team! I've never served before so the industry is completely new to me. I have great customer service skills but I make mistakes from time to time (that are not major).
People at the cafe and one of the managers makes me feel like a complete dumb ass. There are some people who work there that are really sweet but they don't work the same shifts I do. Somethings in the industry I just don't know and it's not my fault because I wasn't trained. Ex: there are selections on the POS that we don't have so they end up getting rung up incorrectly and I get chewed out for it. Another instance is that I didn't know that you had to select "Titos" and "in margarita" and not "Margarita with titos". Chewed out for that one too because we lost money on it. It's gotten to the point where my anxiety has gotten debilitating and I feel like crying every time I get scheduled for a shift. I did cry after that manager I mentioned before said out loud (in front of everyone) that I messed up on two tables. I completely broke down and I am not usually like this. I can handle shit in my regular job which gets stressful from time to time. Handling two jobs at once is a LOT.
THere are some personal things going on that is making it worse. I got on more medications to cope with just being at the restaurant. I'm at the point where I just want to quit. I'm scheduled for a shift tonight and I told them I'd be there but I don't want to show up. I work evenings and am part time and make $100 MAYBE a week. I just don't think it's worth it. Worth it for the money and not worth it for my mental health.
I feel horrible for being a no-show. I've never done it but then again I'm on the verge of a meltdown here. Has anyone had a similar experience and can shed some comfort? I feel horrible for thinking about being a no-show. I don't know how to feel about this.

2024.05.16 19:31 Runic_reader451 St. Paul City Council OKs variances for United Village restaurant building by Allianz Field

From today's Pioneer Press:
The St. Paul City Council voted this week to support two zoning variances requested by the developer behind a proposed restaurant building within United Village, the development area around Allianz Field.
The single-story “Shops in the Green” building will be located west of Simpson Street, between Spruce Tree Avenue and Shields Avenue, north of a secondary restaurant building, both of which would open onto patios along the Great Lawn. Both zoning variances were previously denied by the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals.
The zoning code requires that 30% of the wall area along the ground floor on all new commercial buildings be covered in window or door openings, but Snelling-Midway Redevelopment LLC requested that requirement be lowered to 19.6% on the northern building’s northern façade along Spruce Tree Avenue.
The city code also requires a primary pedestrian entrance on street-facing facades such as Spruce Tree Avenue.
Mike Hahm, a consultant for the developer, noted that the building will already have two other entrances, making a third entrance redundant and difficult to monitor.

‘Unique circumstances’

Council Member Anika Bowie, who represents the neighborhood, said given the restaurant building’s general orientation toward the Great Lawn, as well as its sizable mural on the northern façade, “unique circumstances” made the added windows and entrance impractical.
“This plan is going to include a large scale art display, green space, and space for … small businesses,” Bowie said. “The architectural design within the Super Block is very comprehensive.”
Council President Mitra Jalali noted the extra 10% of door and window coverage would detract from the mural. The Union Park District Council had opposed the variance request pertaining to the window and door opening requirement, but supported the variance eliminating the primary pedestrian entrance on Spruce Tree Avenue.
The Board of Zoning Appeals had previously approved four other variance requests reducing the required door and window openings on the building’s southern and eastern façades, as well as on the southern restaurant building’s eastern façade.
The council voted 6-0 on Wednesday to support the developer’s appeals. Council Member Nelsie Yang is on maternity leave.

2024.05.16 19:02 feel-electric Should I report my employer to DOL for wage theft and risk burning a bridge? MD

I work in a restaurant where we are required to do an hour of side work every morning before the restaurant opens. Legally we are only able to do 30 minutes at our tipped wage ($3.63). This has been going on for years. I did the math and I could be owed $3000 for the last 2 years of time, if we are compensated for the 30 minutes at $13.50-$15/hr depending on the dates.
I plan on leaving this job soon, but was counting on being able to come back for extra shifts when I needed it. They will absolutely know it is me because I discussed it with my employer already.
Should I report directly to the DOL? Is there an easier way? Should I feel bad because it's a small business and having trouble staying afloat? (I know the answer is no to that one, but it still feels wrong)
Thanks!

2024.05.16 19:02 Calm_Extreme1532 I Watched The Second Episode of Mr. Birchum So You Wouldn’t Have To (Review/Summary)

I Watched The Second Episode of Mr. Birchum So You Wouldn’t Have To (Review/Summary)
I’m back to give another episode summary for this. If you’re curious as to what this is or want a refresher, go check out the review I did of the first episode by searching it in the search bar.
The episode opens with Birchum and his other Navy veteran friends preparing for Veteran’s Day by planning to have a big feast by going to various restaurants and taking advantage of their free food deals for veterans. Besides Gage, we are introduced to two new characters named Kwon and Reyes.
I saw a lot of people saying that Gage was simply added in the show to be the token black guy because conservatives are self-conscious at being called racist, which I thought was dumb because the guy who voices him is a good friend of Adam Carolla’s and probably has the role set for him for a while. But this friend group is just blatant ‘look at how not racist I am’ tokenization. You have one white guy, one black guy, one Asian guy, and one Hispanic guy who the show makes a point to tell you is gay for the purpose of Birchum saying that he doesn’t care that he’s gay.
I am not denying that you can be non-white or gay and be conservative. I myself started a conservative student organization chapter at my college and we had members ranging from black, Indian, and Puerto Rican with some gay and bisexual members too. Yet at the same time, we never felt the need to make props out of our members because that would be no different from promoting the very same identity politics we were against. You can absolutely depict a racially diverse conservative friend group, but here it just feels so manufactured and fake. It reeks of approval seeking to the same liberals that the show creators claim they couldn’t care less about, but you can tell they very much do in fact want their validation.
It’s the exact same forced diversity put into mainstream movies and shows, and even DW viewers acknowledge it. https://twitter.com/red_yokes/status/1790073054594249054?t=TP-Pqkm4MaH7zUR7VdQTgQ&s=19
Jeanie comes in wanting to be included, but Birchum tells her that she has to go to school to learn about multiplication, geography, and how she’s racist. Then she responds by saying that she “can’t wait to grow up and kill enemies of democracy” like her dad. Her exact words.
While Birchum and his friends are planning their restaurant crawl, Wendi is planning a spa day with the other wives where they hope that they don’t get too drunk. There’s then a cutaway flashback where Gage slaps a statue of a mascot like how Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at The Oscars, even telling it to keep his wife’s name out of its damn mouth. I guess the joke is that it’s a celebrity reference and that both Gage and Will Smith are black. Real cutting edge stuff here.
Back at the school, Karponzi the DEI guy comes into the principal’s office looking to implement hijabs as school uniforms to avoid misgendering. She’s not there though, so he just sits at her desk and pretends to be the principal while taking selfies. That’s all that happens.
The first stop for the guys is a restaurant for pancakes and they run into their rival Army group led by a guy named Gunderson who along with the rest of his friends are just reskins of Birchum and his friends. They get into an argument over whether the Navy or Army are better, and try to beat them to the other restaurants as a sort of race. The Army guys have a lead over them because they have an extra stomach in the form of a butch lesbian, which doesn’t really make sense to me considering that having an extra person should slow them down as that means having an additional person to wait for. It’s never really explained what the deals at the restaurants actually are though.
They run into the principal of the school Birchum and Gage works at who confronts them for skipping school and leaving their classes unattended, where it’s shown that Birchum left his student aide to teach and that Gage just left a cardboard cut out of him. As Birchum and Gage prepare to get chewed out, the principal confronts a guy pretending to be a veteran to get free meals, revealing that she was in the Navy too. She then joins up with Birchum and his crew.
At the spa, Wendi and Gage’s wife Dina have friction when it’s revealed that Dina blew off Wendi’s Obama fundraiser. Dina turns it around on Wendi for assuming that she supported Obama simply because she’s black and that she uses her as a shield for racism accusations.
Back at the school, Karponzi discovers that Birchum and Gage are missing from their classes but finds them hanging out with the principal on social media, and comes to the conclusion that she was kidnapped by them.
Wendi and Dina then get increasingly drunk and into arguments over politics, with Dina saying that Wendi only voted for Obama because of white guilt. I personally wasn’t a fan of the Obama presidency by any means, but even I find this to be such a laughably uncharitable view to the people who voted for him. Could his supporters have just bought into his policy proposals thinking that they would accomplish things for the common good? Nope, they all secretly knew that his policies were trash but voted for him anyways because he was black.
Back on the restaurant crawl, the crew are bonding with the principal while getting increasingly drunk, and Karponzi discovers them after checking their social media posts. Birchum and the others make it to their last stop at a tavern, but find that the Army guys are there too. The bouncer tells them that only one table is available, so the two groups decide to challenge each other for it over a food fight, with the losers being banned from competing in every Veteran’s Day restaurant crawl going forward.
Back at the spa, Wendi and Dina are still arguing but which annoys the Vietnamese masseuses so much that they call them a bunch of stuck-up bitches for arguing about politics on their day off and that they take being Americans for granted.
Birchum and the rest of the Navy guys completely dominate the Army guys in the food fight by ambushing them in the parking lot, and the episode ends with Birchum inviting the Army guys to join them because despite being from different military branches, both of the groups still served. Karponzi shows up to the bar asking the principal if she needs saving, and she tells him to go away because she’s partying with real warriors, not social justice warriors. There’s a montage of them having fun, and then the episode ends.
I’m only on the second episode and I’m questioning as to who this show is supposed to appeal towards. It’s marketed to appeal to conservatives, but the politics aren't even conservative, it's just the main character whining and being a dick. It makes it seem like being conservative isn't really a political stance, it's just being a dick, so there's an antagonistic liberal put in so we have a straw-man idea of liberalism to compare this character that’s supposed to be a voice of reason to.
I might just be repeating my Family Guy being more edgy despite being made by liberals point in my last post about this show, but it’s ironic how a character like Ron Swanson (a libertarian character created by neolibs on a safe network comedy years ago) is more offensive and more charismatic than Birchum, because he is treated as a character instead of a vehicle made to launder political messaging through.
I’ve softened on Karponzi as a character somewhat. The concept of a DEI hire deluding himself into thinking that he’s improving his workplace while really making it worse sounds like a good concept to a character, but he’s completely wasted here. I don’t even understand why he was included in this episode because he does absolutely nothing.
And of course there’s obviously still an issue of quality of jokes and pacing.
I’ve found a way to watch all of these episodes online for free, so I guess I’ll be posting reviews about the episodes as it goes on while I’m bored.

2024.05.16 18:15 No-Challenge4929 I went to a bar/grill with my best friend for dinner before it transformed into a party/club scene, and my boyfriend thinks this was disloyal and wants me to apologize. Is he right?

My (23F) best friend (22F) love getting dressed up cute and trying new restaurants. A few weeks ago, we decided to go to this riverfront taco restaurant for dinner, but they don’t allow reservations. It’s first come first serve, so by the time we got there, there was an hour and 45 minute wait. However, next door there is a really popular bar & grill. It’s on the river, half indoor and half outdoor. At 9pm, it turns into more of a club scene. They put away a bunch of the tables, open a ticket booth to sell wristbands, open the outdoor bar (the indoor bar is always open) and bring out a DJ. It’s a really popular spot for young adults my age in my area. My boyfriend and I have a very open and honest relationship, and we have both been cheated on before. We make sure to avoid doing sketchy shit to avoid hurting one another, which is usually very easy for us to do. Knowing that they transfer from a baclub scene at 9, we decided to go because it was only 7pm. i texted my boyfriend to let him know my plans were changing, the wait at the taco place was too long and my best friend really wanted to try the barbecue at the bagrill next door. The only other option in a 15 minute driving distance we’re very high end and pricey, because we were on the waterfront. I knew my boyfriend has prejudice against this place, because it’s the main dating scene in our area. But that’s after 9, before then, there are literal children that dine there with their families, it’s a typical restaurant with a bar in the corner.
Well, I was right, my boyfriend was very unhappy. I told him i’d keep him updated, he had my location, and i had posted a few videos on snapchat afterwards of my friend and I repairing her flat tire, just as extra reassurance that i really WAS with her. He said that it was weird that I didn’t send any pictures of us inside the restaurant like I have done in the past. I just simply didn’t take any pictures inside, I don’t think I need to take a picture of every single thing i do.
We got in a big fight about it, and I agreed to never go back to that restaurant considering it bothered him so much. We didn’t AIM to go there in the first place, we just didn’t want to wait an hour and 45 minutes to get a table at the taco place. However, we can’t seem to get on the same page about this weeks later. He thinks I should’ve apologized for “going to a bar without him”, (mind you we sat at a booth next to families, i wasn’t mingling at the bar) and that what I did was morally wrong. He says he doesn’t see how I can’t see where he’s coming from.
However, I feel that I did nothing wrong going out to dinner with my best friend. I feel that in a relationship, there will be certain times where you might not LIKE where your S.O is, but you should trust them enough to take their word. Especially if you have their location, they are updating you the whole time, and you see proof that they are actually with their best friend. and in the end, i agreed to never go back because it bothered him so much. Knowing that this night was a casual dinner night with my best friend (we didn’t even drink), really bothers me because i know i did literally nothing wrong, didn’t even speak to another guy that night.
I know we will just agree to disagree in the end, but o want to know what other people think about this situation. Who is truly in the wrong?
TDLR: I went to a bagrill with my best friend for dinner before it transformed into a party/club scene and stopped serving food, and my boyfriend thinks this was disloyal and wants me to apologize. Is he right?

2024.05.16 17:52 FlipSideVooDoo Guinness Keg (personal use)

So here’s my predicament…I have a nitro kegerator setup, but I can’t find a single vendor that can fill or even special order Guinness in my area (Permian Basin Texas). There’s restaurants/bars that have Guinness on draft, so I know someone can do it. Is there an 800 number or anyone I could contact to facilitate this? I don’t mind paying a little extra. May be difficult for such a small order (1/6 keg) but I thought I’d ask

2024.05.16 17:42 Idontknowwhoiam982 I might have the opportunity to go back to school

And I’m stuck choosing between getting my masters in an adjacent field which might just make me absolutely miserable OR go for a different degree altogether.
And honestly? I’m ready to be free of the suffocating feeling that my own body isn’t my own.
That I have to be constantly vigilant and make sure if I’m enjoying a drink at a restaurant that there are no children around, that there are no parents around, that admin isn’t around.
That I have to watch every word that comes out of my mouth in public because apparently a potty mouth in my free adult time means I can’t do my job properly.
That I can’t get any tattoos without it somehow making me incapable of doing my job.
That I constantly have to be chipper and handle poor or even violent behavior with safety gloves and a smile on my face.
That I can be assaulted by a student twice my size while I’m 9 months pregnant and still not be allowed to leave.
That I can’t quit a toxic and potentially dangerous job until summer for fear that I’ll lose my license.
That I am expected to do extra without being paid, expected to sacrifice my time with my family to take care of job responsibilities that I’m not allowed to handle ON the clock.
I’ve applied to college with a determination that I never had the first time around. I am SO ready to throw myself into my classes and study my ass off. I’m going for a completely different field since education has completely obliterated my passion for my original study. It’s going to be difficult because it’s in the medical field but I can’t keep living like this. Like I don’t even own my own body or my own life in my free time. Like I’m stuck in something with no way out, waiting a full year into each new job district to be able to leave.

2024.05.16 17:20 A940forever My Forced life Chapter 1 : My Messed up Family

Every day I walk by looking down because im always anxious. People’s stares, People’s voices speaking in my head. Hugh, I’m gonna puke. Unlike my brother my parents consider me average, why well because my grades are in the 80’s for all subjects, my looks are plain and my hobbies are bothersome to my parents. For me even though I have to work hard for my stuff, my brother gets everything for free. My parents spoil him because he is “cute” and has 90,s in all subjects. He even is good with the ladies, I mean I can’t even talk to one. But life is unfair and one day my life changed for the worse. “Son you are disowned” said my father. I couldn’t process the words and then I said ……… ”Why would you do this to me?”, “After everything I did: cleaning the dishes while you watch tv, Bought gifts for your Birthday, Studying at night and getting 80’s while you ate at fancy restaurants with my little brother.” And finally I said “What did I ever do to deserve all this?!”. Then my mother spoke “You don’t deserve any love no more!” And ……… “You’re a disgrace to this family, your brother deserves everything.”. The final blow was done by my dad who said “You’re just a ‘useless’ and ‘futureless’ extra.”, “So getting packing and out!”. In that moment my heart broke…………

2024.05.16 16:54 FormerFruit Asking for a job back 2 years after I was fired - Do I have any chance or not?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I need some honest opinions.
2 summers ago I got a job as a waitress in a restaurant, during the time of the year especially I got a lot of hours which was what I wanted, 40 to 50 a week. The tips were a nice extra too. They weren't excellent but not the worst. It's close to where I live as well and I was able to get the bus in and out of work in 10 minutes from home, I still live at home so that money added up very quickly, all in all it was a very neat job.
In hindsight, it wasn't a great place to work with the atmosphere etc etc. It was quite toxic, a lot of the staff were very unhappy, etc etc.
Around New Year I had holidays planned, and I made the awful mistake of confusing that the restaurant would be closed the first week of January when my holidays were so I wouldn't need to book time off. The restaurant actually closed the second week so I was due to be working on the rota and I had holidays booked.
I told the manager and apologized, he was pissed. Wouldn't blame him, he had to rearrange the whole rota and was down one member of staff when they're already understaffed.
A few weeks later I contacted him to see what the story with my work was as I wasn't getting any shifts. He told me I wouldn't be getting any more shifts because I wouldn't work when he needed me and needed staff he could rely on.
I was so upset but couldn't bring myself to go in and apologize face to face or anything.
Fast forward two years. The turnover there is so high they are always looking for staff. I honestly do not think I could bring myself to ask again for the job but I could be working 40 to 50 hours a week and have more experience since another job. I'm torn as to whether I could bring myself to go to the owners directly instead of the manager.
I genuinely think I burned my bridges when I didn't write to them or go in to apologize or anything, I've never been able for confrontation and cannot stand up for myself.
What do you think? I don't know what to think and need some honest opinions. I know I said it wasn't a great place to work but I got a lot of hours so I didn't care too much. I know I probably nuked any chance of a second chance when I didn't contact them afterwards but if they're so desperate for staff and have someone who would be willing to work all the hours would I stand any chance? The place has a bit of a reputation for being a hellhole so people won't work there. I have more experience as well and could tell them this.
I need some honest opinions please.

2024.05.16 16:37 Ok_Flounder8842 Top 5 Regretted Home Purchases?

What are your top 5 regretted purchases for your home? And what would you have done with the savings?
  1. The second car. I could have gotten away with walking, bike/e-bike, bus or even occasional taxi/uber to the train station, saved $ on parking, and the daily steps would have helped my health. Still paying insurance/maintenance for the car which i keep around in case the adult kids want to use it.
  2. the Outdoor Play Set. It was barely used, and I'm still spending $ maintaining it every year in preparation for house resale. Kids got bored with it quickly, and just wanted to go to the park to play with other kids.
  3. the bigger house. Getting a house with a Living Room and separate Dining Room when it already had a Family Room and eat-in kitchen was unnecessary. The LR and DR are rarely used, and for the extra expense, I could have rented a private room in a restaurant for holiday gatherings many times over and not had to do the dishes.
  4. the bigger yard. The amount of the yard my family actually uses is tiny. Yet I pay a landscaper more money to maintain all that extra space. Sure, I'm now re-wilding some of it to save landscaping money, but I still have to pay taxes on land I don't use.
  5. the Outdoor Lighting. I have lights illuminating my bushes, trees (which I learned is illegal in my town), and my house which is ridiculous when you think about it. It's not the Arc d'Triomphe. Worse, the lights I now learned contribute to species decline (as if we haven't done enough via climate change to screw other species) and the inability to see the stars at night. I could have gotten away with a few motion-sensor lights for security for far less money.
Now that you have your regrets, what would you have done with the money?
A. Finances: I would have Paid down Credit Card debt, built a 6 month Emergency Fund, raised my retirement account contributions, and funded the kids' college savings account, in that order. I use a compound interest calculator to see how much more money I would have had.
B. Life Insurance: I would have paid a higher annual premium for a larger 25 year term life policy for my spouse and me. Maybe even explored disability insurance or something like AFLAC.

2024.05.16 15:57 Human-Potato42069 [LIGHT][Zodiark][FC][C] Mrrp. Shiro Neko Shuudan is hiring!

Hi Reddit!
Shiro Neko Shuudan is a new Free Company on Zodiark. I won't bore you with the "oh we cater to newbies <3/we have cookies/like a family" spiel; you weren't born yesterday, you know precisely what an FC is for. Buffs, an extra chat channel and maybe a house and events and all that other good stuff.
But I want to start it with the right people. And to that end, I'm recruiting three initial officers (who are also willing to sign the petition). Who knows? Maybe we could build this into something awesome.
Ideally you'll be somewhat experienced and know your way around the game, having been here for an expansion or more, and be able to attract new vict--- I mean, members. But neither of these are mandatory. Tolerance, a positive attitude, and patience are more important. I fully believe that a good FC that starts with the right people will organically grow itself.
I'm not one to start bribing randoms to sign the petition, which is why I'm reaching out here :)
If you're currently FC-less and want to help me build a chill and welcoming community then hit me up on Discord(pairororo) and we'll go from there! :)

2024.05.16 15:32 no_period_ How to hold down a job when it’s the cause of my IBS? (stress induced IBS)

I’m pretty sure I’ve had IBS basically my entire life. I have memories from as young as around 4 of flare ups. At some point I realized that my flare ups happened around heavy stress periods of my life. Since I had pretty consistent IBS episodes (maybe once or so a month give or take a few weeks extra) for most of my memories, that meant I didn’t realize what a pain free life was like until I became a housewife and basically had no flare ups unless stuff got really stressful but being a housewife wasn’t stressful.
Now that I’ve experienced a life without constant or frequent IBS it makes work very difficult because I hate working and that’s a source of stress from the simple fact of work even if I like my job.
I have a job right now that I love and enjoy and it’s been 3 weeks and I’ve had 2 big pain flare ups and a week of feeling like I was going to shit myself at any moment. That’s pretty much a consistent IBS attack my entire duration of working. Before this job I was a housewife for almost a year with some breaks in between.
I don’t have a degree or any certs to I’ve only been able to work low wage jobs like front desk/reception/fast food/retail/restaurant and while the trades aren’t exactly low wage as a whole in general, I didn’t get paid more than 12$. These jobs are all stressful and I’ve been told that college and careers tend to be even more stressful than some of these jobs and if my reception job is causing me to have imma shit myself feeling and 2 big flare ups, how will I handle a big girl job?
My husband has told me that due to my health and mental health that I really should just stay a housewife but I want to know what y’all do if your IBS is stress induced. Diet doesn’t affect me that I’ve noticed/know so there’s not much to be done there.

2024.05.16 15:29 Winter_Pizza_1021 How I wished my parents never had kids so they don’t have to spend on us and force us to give back in return

Growing up, I never experienced being gifted by anything from my parents. I have always heard how they overly prioritize academic-related expenses. Sure they kept on saying that they did that for me to learn how to handle my money and learn how hard it is to earn money. But honestly I can’t help but feel deprived of the financial support that they can give, especially that they are still capable. It’s bad to compare, but I envy my friends who can buy clothes without having to work or find a side hustle; being supported with paying extra-curricular related fees for school when I had to cut some of my expenses for food just so I can pay for them. When COVID happened, all classes were online. I have thought of finding a part-time job for me to earn and save some money. I landed on one and felt happy. With my hard earned money, I got to afford things that my parents were not able to give me. I even got to save because the allowance that they gave me is REALLY not enough to cover my expenses. After my mom knew about my part-time job, they ask me to treat them to nice restaurants when growing up we never had the chance to go to those restaurants. They would ‘borrow’ money but in the end they will just use the “we sent you to school, fed you, provided you roof over your head” lines etc. which ends me up not being able to get my money back or if I did get them, it would not be paid in full. I communicated that I still need their support while I’m finishing school but it feels so unfair that they force me to earn money for me to pay school bills. I just feel that they are glorifying the ‘teaching you how to handle finances’ when they are just escaping their responsibility to provide me with financial support. It’s discouraging to give / share to them out of my own will when I know they were not that generous to me growing up.

2024.05.16 15:00 aznpersuazion My Top 5 Restaurants in South Florida/Miami Area..

Wanted to share my top 5 recommendation list. Having lived here for about 30 years, here are the best spots to visit, whether you're traveling or a local. I've included a range of options from cheap eats to fine dining.
  1. Chef Tally's - I've binge eaten at least 50+ jamaican restaurants, and while this isn't your typical traditional jamaican spot, this is hands down one of my favorite places in south Florida. I dream about the chicken here. It's always a candidate for my "what should I eat this weekend" thoughts.
  2. Mila Sunday Brunch - $95 for all you can eat cinco jota jamon iberico, black caviar, and a ton of other creatively prepared dishes. I've had a few of the other brunchs in south florida, like edge, novikov, etc. but this one gets the thumbs up because they actually have more unique spreads and appetizers. Pro tip, they have a cheese wheel pasta and mojito station outside. Did I mention the price includes unlimited champagne and rose?
  3. Palacio de los Jugos - this is a staple of south florida cuisine. I might get some flack for having this on my list, but amongst all the cuban and latin spots I've been to across Hialeah and Miami, I always find myself back here grabbing a meal for like $7 and juice for $3!
  4. Stubborn Seed - I haven't gone since they've gotten their Michelin Star, but I used to frequent this place. What sets the tasting menu at stubborn seed apart in my opinion is the almagamation of dish pacing, food sourcing/creativity, and lineup of ingredients. I don't think there's a singular dish that really sets this restaurant apart from the rest of the modern fine dining options, but more so a extremely well presented and curated dining experience.
  5. Anita Gelato. This spot recently opened in Aventura coming from NYC. It's not a super traditional italian/argentiniam gelato, but the flavor combinations are the best I've ever had. And it's not too sweet. My favorite ice cream/froyo/gelato spot amongst the hundreds I've been to in SoFlo.
Honorable mention goes to Kaeru Sushi for bringing great quality japanese food for an affordable price.* A little extra. South Florida has EXCELLENT latin american food(peruvian, argentinian, columbian, etc.), mediterranean, israeli/jewish delis, italian, caribbean, and much more. I highly recommend checking out any of the above cuisines. DM me if you'd like any specific recommendations.

2024.05.16 14:57 USA_Insurance What are the key components of a standard home insurance policy in the USA, and how do they protect homeowners?

What are the key components of a standard home insurance policy in the USA, and how do they protect homeowners?
A standard home insurance policy in the USA typically includes several key components designed to protect homeowners from financial losses due to various risks. These components are:
https://preview.redd.it/7jkh4fq9ds0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b354c906220a08cbbfe7bcc4691f65cc2ec4d469
  1. Dwelling Coverage: This covers the physical structure of your home, including walls, roof, and built-in appliances, against perils such as fire, wind, hail, and vandalism. If your home is damaged or destroyed by a covered peril, dwelling coverage will pay for repairs or rebuilding up to the policy limits.
  2. Other Structures Coverage: This provides protection for structures not attached to the main house, such as detached garages, sheds, and fences. It usually covers the same perils as the dwelling coverage.
  3. Personal Property Coverage: This covers your personal belongings, such as furniture, clothing, electronics, and appliances, if they are damaged or stolen. Personal property coverage often extends to items lost or damaged outside the home, like when traveling.
  4. Liability Protection: This covers legal expenses and damages if someone is injured on your property or if you accidentally cause injury or property damage to others. For example, if a guest slips and falls in your home, liability protection can help cover their medical expenses and any legal costs if they sue.
  5. Additional Living Expenses (ALE): Also known as Loss of Use coverage, ALE pays for additional costs of living if your home is temporarily uninhabitable due to a covered peril. This can include hotel bills, restaurant meals, and other extra expenses incurred while your home is being repaired.
  6. Medical Payments Coverage: This covers medical expenses for minor injuries sustained by guests on your property, regardless of who is at fault. It typically provides smaller amounts of coverage compared to liability protection but can help prevent lawsuits by covering immediate medical costs.
Each of these components has specific limits and exclusions, so it’s important for homeowners to review their policies carefully and consider additional endorsements or riders for extra protection. For instance, standard policies often exclude damage from floods and earthquakes, which may require separate policies. Regularly updating your policy to reflect changes in property values and personal possessions ensures adequate coverage.

2024.05.16 14:46 Pelican121 Pastry Chalet - any tips?

I unlocked Pastry Chalet and I'm having a harder time than expected keeping up with the orders. I considered myself a faster player 👀😁 Mount Breakfast wasn't too bad compared to what I was expecting but I'm finding Pastry Chalet significantly more difficult.
Any tips regarding upgrades? I don't always buy the auto machines but I've unlocked it and time is ticking. I currently have the rolling pin and oven at level 2. I'm unsure if pre-rolled dough will improve my speed, any thoughts on the usefulness of the auto machine?
I can't serve all the customers in the time no matter how fast I move so adding extra customers in the interior isn't going to help at the moment.
I've invested in quite a bit of the kitchen but not much on the interior so far. I'm up to level 34 but can't 3* past the mid-20s and I'm quite far off hitting 1* on level 34.
I generally enjoy upgrading food/machines/interior individually however I haven't seen much improvement for my investment in the last few restaurants. I've ended up taking my desserts to level 2, refilling once or twice and using them to make up the 50-200 point shortfall to achieve 3 stars. It seems more cost effective than making 8-15 gem upgrades across the kitchen and interior that only result in a slight score boost.

Hi there I'm Darin, 42 years old, single, living in Washington, DC. I work for an advertising agency and work from home which has become a bit mundane.
I'm looking for new friend, someone interested in talking, who enjoys communication and conversation, uses the extra adjective, the Oxford comma, and enjoys that perfect balance between over-sharing and asking whatever question comes to mind.
I enjoy cooking, art, museums, hiking, gardening, biking, breaths of fresh air, relaxing nights in, getting dressed up together and trying new restaurants, and of course I enjoy an alluring, vivid conversation. Say hi, let's get to know each other!
