I woke up the other morning pretty pissed. A letter about code enforcement from the county bitching about my yard. The land has grown steep in parts, and i my attempt to mitigate damage done by previous owners, I ended up with a mound of debris that likes to grow weeds as well. I called them. Take down the weeds, they say, they will work on me with the debris.
I cannot seem to keep a string trimmer. I am less affluent than my neighbors and can only seem to afford weaker electric ones, and their batteries or really any part of them dies within the year. So, I decided to look into unconventional methods, and found how I might to take up scything.
I did a lot of research, and romanticized the idea of restoring a 100 year old American scythe like the men doing so on youtube. I immediately, late at night, searched up anybody selling some locally on FB marketplace. A man was selling two, for very cheap, very nearby. I messaged him and worked out the purchase. I fell asleep thinking of restoring the old instrument. I felt calm.
In my dream, I was bowing before three figures. One, a female, who was peeling a fruit that looked like a honeycomb full with red droplets of blood. One, a naked male with what looked like a viking helmet and a long, golden horn in one hand. The last figure I could not make out, just a scuffy, charcoal-like image on the edge of a shadow. I wept when I saw the second figure, begging him to interject on my behalf. I seemed to have entered the dream mid-conversation.
The two other figures looked to him, the woman looking on me with an almost doting expression of pity. The shadowy figure seemed to be whispering to them both in a language I did not know. Both the helmeted man and the woman nodded to it. The woman looked on me with a charitable sort of smile.
"You will have to give some token of your appreciation later." she says. Then there is a conversation I still do not remember. And I wake up. I forget the dream.
I am 34. I have several children. My two older kids want to go get the scythes with me. We hop in the car, and I drive around, getting tools to use in the restoration.

I hesitate only a split second and then I start going.
Suddenly, a vehicle goes screaming in front of me. A red and white pickup truck. Has to be going 55 if not 65. It's a blur basically, even if I do make some of it out. I screech to a halt and then once the truck clears, complete my turn and immediately pull into the nearest parking lot, which turns out to be a bank.
My kids didn't even notice. Nobody seems to have appreciated but me how close we were to serious trouble.
As background. "Skeeters" in pickup trucks are a real pain here. They drive like dickheads, they are stereotypical as hell, and often I find that they instigate road trouble a lot. I don't know what it is about this area, but the "muh trukk" people seem to be way more prevalent than anywhere else.
Of course my reaction is rage. I wish I could have found this idiot who ran a red light and almost killed me and my kids. We were feet from a rather brutal collision.
I am exhausted by the time I get home. I disassemble the scythes and put the metal parts in a rust solution. I think about taking a nap and that is when the dream comes back to me. I remember the figures. And in my waking mind, I have theories on who they are. I do read a lot of old greek poetry and philosophy, so it could just be a coincidence.

Hey fellow autistic friends,
I’m not sure if this is more influenced by autism or my adhd but I know it’s incredibly common for us to have sleep disorders either way. Anyway- my sleeping pattern is atrocious and has been for my whole adult life; I stay up for days at a time to try and get myself tired enough to sleep at night and wake in the morning but it doesn’t work, my usual routine is stay awake until my eyes are closing and then sleep. I think it’s the actual act of trying to fall asleep that I hate, just lying down in the dark trying to concentrate on relaxing makes me annoyed and frustrated so instead I stay up until I can’t anymore. This has affected my life in many ways as I’m sure you can imagine- it’s impossible for me to ever have a normal proper job because the lack of sleep or inability to wake up and have a good routine mean I’m late and if I am on time its only because I’ve stayed up all night so I’m exhausted. I miss opportunities and social occasions all the time because I sleep through them. It really affects me mentally because I feel like such a loser for not being able to do this super simple thing that everyone else just does naturally, it makes me feel like I’ll never be able to have a proper relationship too because in the past it’s caused lots of problems. Anyway, I think you get it; no sleep= sad 😢 so to stop me rambling on, my point is- have any of you found anything that has helped you maintain a decent sleeping pattern such as- fall asleep around 10-midnight and wake up around 7-9? I take a lot of supplements (suffered with long covid) these supplements are Quercetin, magnesium, medicinal mushrooms, DAO and anti histamines. I also am medicated for my adhd and take vyvanse (the sleeping issues have existed long before the meds so it isn’t that) I would like to try melatonin but we can’t buy it in the UK 🙄

I’ve read that you’re able to get in the bath from some sources and others not, but I just wanted to know if anyone knows for sure as I do not want to increase my risk of infection. How do I (F19) deal with a fight that occurred with my bf (M20)?
Recently, me (F19) and my bf (M20) of 2.5 years are both done with finals and decided to go to a park and get ice cream and catch up a bit more since we haven’t spent a lot of physical time together. I am also leaving for an internship to help me with med school in a few days so I wanted to make sure that I spent a lot of time with him before I left. He picks me up and he talks about how he feels like he doesn’t have everything figured out and feels behind when comparing himself to others in his age group, he also wants to pursue an M.D. He was also speeding, slammed the brakes, and honked that the other car for no reason. I reassured him and it seemed like he was getting hangry so we stopped to get some food.
Then after we went to the park, we we’re having a good time. Fast forward, he gets a call from his mom about car troubles. He didn’t know when to change the oil in his car and his mom was explaining the process to him and he thought she was saying that, in his own words, “he was stupid and doesn’t know how to do anything” I tried to reassure him and tell him that she just wants him to know to check his oil. He then hangs up on her and I told him to call her back because what he did was rude. He then calls her back and says, “because of when the majority told me, I called you back” and I thought that was even more rude! I don’t know what his mom said, but he just told me to get to the car to drop me off. We get in the car and he was speeding again. I don’t remember exactly what was said then but he was stressed about the car and changing the oils, he then almost hit another car and began to punch the steering wheel. I told him that he needs to pull over and we found a parking spot. I told him that he needs to calm down because this is not safe.
He then tells me because he doesn’t have his metal music on he’s acting this way since I don’t like that genre of music. I told him that if he had on he would still act this way and he has before every time he’s upset in the car. I was thinking to myself, just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean that I’m not going to tell you to not play it in your own car. He then starts yelling at me about how he always does things with music since middle school. At this point I started to just say, “I don’t care” I know I should’ve said something better but when people yell at me I’m not going to yell at you back and I will just stonewall because that’s something I don’t tolerate and we have had multiple conversations that I do not tolerate yelling. Then told me to get the f out and I did, I started to break down and the only thing I could say was f you to him and I got out. I pulled out my phone and began to order an Uber. He then yelled at me again and then sped off.
I was lucky enough that I was at a location I was familiar with and went inside a Walmart to wait for my ride. As soon as I was inside I started to block him on everything. His mom called me and asked if I needed a ride and I told her that I already got one. She followed up the question with saying that, “he’s melting down” and “doesn’t want to lose me.” Additionally, “he has ADHD so it’s hard for him to interpret emotions and everything that’s going on” however she was also saying that she’s been in similar situations so she can empathize with me but he’s not making excuses for him?
I just thanked her for calling and told her I just need some space. This isn’t the first time he did this. The last time he was speeding and I told him that I felt unsafe and he stopped the car and told me to go, it was late at night but luckily I was in my neighborhood to walk back home. I don’t know how I can navigate/put up with this? If I should talk to him before I leave for my internship since it’s out of state? I know I’m in the wrong for saying f him and saying I didn’t care. I just want to know what do I do now? I’m too out of sorts to actually determine if it’s just a really bad fight or not so I’m out sourcing.
TLDR: Boyfriend is stressed about that future and recklessly driving in the process. When other issues are involved he also gets stressed which leads to another instance of speeding. Then when trying to intervene it leads to him yelling, something I don’t tolerate and he yells at me to get out of the car and speeds off. I had to find other ways of transportation and want to know what to do now?

After years of having not had insurance, I'm finally in a place to be able to seek professional help. I had an extensive talk and I was diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder Bipolar Type. I found this community after looking into the diagnosis a bit online, and I guess I'm curious of what to expect, or be considerate of? I don't have the medications ATM, but I should be able to get them tomorrow. I was prescribed an anti-depressant, an anti-psychotic, and trazodone for sleep. I've been taking steps to take care of myself, I've been actively trying to eat better, have been going to the gym every night, and I plan on stopping my substance abuse and living in sobriety during this time and indefinitely afterwards.

My university offers assessments but it's a bureaucratic nightmare with a months-long backlog, so I'm thinking I'll shell out for a private assessment in order to reap the study benefits earlier.

1. Can anyone recommend particular private assessment doctors in the Atlanta area? (My insurance is shit and probably won't cover anything, so cheaper assessments and medications are best)
2. If they prescribe me medication, what's generally the best kind?
3. If you're prescribed medication, how often do you get it right on the first try? vs having to experiment with multiple kinds and doses, perhaps with nasty side effects along the way?

Please help talk me through this, share experiences, etc. I need a dose of informed reality, one way or the other. My OB sent me to the ER yesterday (5/16) after 48hrs persistent pain from both ovaries (left was worse and radiating through leg). Thankfully I haven't had any bleeding, but my OB wanted to rule out ectopic because of the type of pain and for peace of mind since I had a missed miscarriage in December. Yesterday I was 4w5d and the ultrasound tech warned me that we might not even see anything. Thankfully the TVUS showed a 5mm intrauterine gestational sac!! I was so excited when I saw the report on my health portal until the ER doc came in and totally shattered my spirits. He diagnosed me with a "threatened abortion" because he said they expect to see "more" on the ultrasound at this stage, especially since my hormone levels were consistent with a further along pregnancy (beta was 1703 yesterday, which I personally wouldn't consider high). He said the ultrasound looked like one of someone that was more like 3-4 weeks along and that I should expect cramping to continue and bleeding to start. ER doc ordered a repeat HCG after 48 hours and a repeated transvaginal ultrasound in a week. I of course broke down completely especially because of our recent loss and felt like history was repeating itself. After I was able to speak to my husband and the shock wore off, some of it didn't quite make sense. Am I delusional, or did the ER doc possibly make a snap judgement?
I personally feel like it's great that we even saw the gestational sac at 4w5d, and wasn't expecting anything else, but now I'm questioning everything. One thing that does make me nervous is that my HCG doubling rate is slowing down. Here are my numbers:
5/8 (13dpo): 143
5/10 (15dpo): 341 (doubling at 38.38hrs, 138.5% two day increase)
5/15 (20dpo): 1703 (doubling at 51.72 hours, 90.3% two day increase)
I'm not sure if this is the time that those numbers would be slowing anyway, but just the thought that they are scares me, especially on top of the ER doctor's diagnosis. He literally wrote in huge letters on top of my discharge paperwork "DX: Threatened Abortion" and that about broke me. I want to believe that he is wrong but I'm scared and confused. I'm waiting to hear back from my OB about her impressions, as she has been out of the office. What do you all think? I'm new to this community and can already tell it'll be very helpful. I am (somewhat) newly diagnosed since October 2023. I am doing ‘all the things’ including meditation, medication, therapy and listening to adhd coaching podcasts to get new strategies for time management, prioritization, outsourcing etc. While things have certainly improved, I have a ways to go to achieve a more balanced lifestyle.
At this stage I can manage most areas of ‘present’ life ( Work, exercise, cleaning, laundry) but then I drop the ball on ‘future planning’ (personal finances, courses, networking/job applications, booking appointments, trip/fun planning etc).
I am trying to come to terms with the reality that adhd is disability. Meaning it’s pervasive and even with all the energy & effort & scaffolding I have put in so far, I can’t just expect to ✨do it all.
SO long story short, even though I am NOT an entrepreneur, I think I could benefit from the support of a PA or HH manager. Most research I have done brings up PAs targeted at entrepreneurs w/adhd who need help with elements of their biz (ex. Social media management, emails etc).
For me: having someone book my medical appointments, make/scheudle my meal prep plan, help with & help me remembeplan future things could be really really helpful!
Also any thoughts/resources on how to maintain security & privacy while working with a PA are welcome!

My "parents" had me in their early 20's and my golden child brother after a few years.
My story isn't something of new or special and since i was 4 i was the classic neglected child in favor of my golden "brother" Carl. I can stay here hours talking about how my "parents" didn't even remembered when my birthday was, the times when they left for vacations and i was relegated at home or the times when my "father" (Dan) tried to lay hands on me and i always give him back all my frustrations and anger issues.
All this mess started when i was 6 and after 2 years that they forgot my birthday, even when i was 5 and told them that it was my birthday, and i clearly asked them why they hated me so much and their answer left me broken until now "you're a disgrace for our family, your mother cheated on me and had you so i convinced myself somehow to keep you" and the "worst" thing is that Dan said this with a very normal tone like it was the most normal thing to say to a 6 year old child. Since than i accepted that my life was this so i started to bully people at school. (Emotionally and physically) When i was 14 i met my bestfriend and even now he is the only person of this fucking world that i trust 100%. (This part is important for later)
My school was a public school and no one ever gave a fuck about me and just punished me with suspention of a few days or post school "detention". Coming to my "parents" they too obviously neverg gave a fuck about me, my life, if i was a bully or anything about me and thanks to Tony when i was 15 i started to do part time jobs to save money for my future and in 3 years i had a pretty good amount of money (not that much but enough for me). In this time i didn't said a world to them and after they finished i couldn't control it anymore and i started laughing my ass off for like 3 minutes.
After i finished laughing i make my way to enter and before they could anything i instructed the security there to never and for any reason let them in and if they would force their way the only solution was to call the cops. Obviously they tried to go in but cops were involved and they were brought away.
When Tony knew about this shitty situation he was worried that i would had killed them both there on the spot but i assured him that the cops dragged them away. He was a bit confused on my reaction and asked me if i was fine, i told him of course and that day i worked with an energy that i never felt.
So that's all. My laugh was a liberation of everything i went through and their absolutely being idiotic to only think that i could help them anyway forgetting those 18 years of neglect and being treated like shit. Poor fools.

Good day, folks! I recently acquired some Jacksons. Since I have more than one, I picked up an aviary and am working on dividing it for them. I have some questions. I'm struggling to get pictures uploaded so bear with me. I'll work on posting them blelow if Reddit lets me. Note: my guys have nice enclosures to keep them healthy until this is done.
I wasn't sure if I should wrangle plants or sticks in first. In my smaller ones I did sticks first so I did that here, especially since I was adding some larger limbs. At this point, would you pull some smaller twigs out, add the plants, and then put the twigs back in? It'll be tedious no matter what but I figured the experts here would have experience and suggestions.
I have "living wall" I was going to use to assist with plant placement. The hardware cloth on this is a bit wimpy (albeit fully adequate for small birds). How would you reinforce your plant holders? I am envisioning a thinner strip of wood like a yard stick. Attach on the inside or outside?
Next, the light. USB/LED from ZooMed. I have 2 of these. Would you use both to assist with plants and UVB availability? I can easily fit both up there with basking lights.
Lastly, the bottom is just a few panels of hardware cloth with a tray under it. For ease of cleaning, should I put something on the bottom that can be wiped up?
Any feedback is welcome. If it's a nastygram, please include some proactive solutions. (Come on, some of you know how you are.) It's obviously not completed. It's at a point where I can still change things before I finish the divider and close everything up. Feel free to ask me questions, too.

Hi all, I’ll try to keep this brief. I graduated with a BS CS in 2021 and got a job at Microsoft. Great pay, WFH, can’t complain. But I’m miserable. The job is not growing my engineering skills, and my day to day is mainly admin work with some dev tooling. It’s hard for me to do anything more than the minimum required. Not due to skill, but lack of motivation. I’ve had some great internships so my resume is strong but I can’t get a single interview elsewhere. Even internally. I know the market is awful right now, but I feel so stuck. I want to have a creative role, one that I can be proud of and give 110%. I would love to run my own business and make products that people love, but leaving behind this salary is a dealbreaker. For those of you that have been in similar positions, what do you recommend I do? Thanks :)

I'm in the midst of getting diagnosed, but I've got many of the typical symptoms of lipoedema: bilateral fat buildup on thighs and upper arms, pretty intense bruising, non-responsive to diet/exercise, circulation issues etc. etc. For a long time I experienced pain at the most minor of touch, especially around the thighs. In high school my friends and family always joked about how extreme my reactions to bumping into things was, since I sometimes reacted like I'd been shot. This was a constant of my life since I'd hit puberty. As an aside, my pain tolerance threshold is otherwise fairly high. (Example: When I had shingles, it barely tickled...so I was convinced I couldn't possibly have shingles, lol.) I frequently don't notice other injuries until well after the fact.
Sometime in my late 20s, the extreme pain reaction stopped. I just noticed its absence one day and I couldn't tell you what is different between then and now. I still bruise extremely easily and have all the other issues, which is why I'm pursuing a diagnosis. Every great once in a while I'll have a disproportionate response to gently bumping into something, but it's no longer a constant issue like it was when I was growing up. I've not read of anything similar in medical literature or personal anecdote, so I was curious if anyone else had a similar experience to mine. Thanks!

Hey everyone, so I'm just looking for some advice on the different communities and things as it relates to a POCR board.
After having done pretty well in the aviation pipeline (mostly 4s and 5s), I unfortunately have been medically attritied from Primary and am now looking for other opportunities.
I have a BS with honors in Aerospace Science Engineering from an accredited university and was looking towards the STEM routes, primarily the RL EDO as of now. Crypto, AMDO, and some non STEM (FAO, etc) are also in the mix. Any advice or information would be super helpful, as well as any communities to consider!
Primary focus is on educational opportunities, career progression, and to the best extent I can, home life.
