2024.06.09 16:19 Throwaway_Avatar [MD/US] My kid's new job is paying him illegally. What can I do?

My minor child recently started their first job last month. It's a nearby restaurant that our family likes and has been going to for years. They really like both the job and the coworkers, plus they have flexible hours and get free food. Recently, they showed me their first paycheck, and it immediately raised red flags. In particular, I'm almost certain they're being paid under the table.
I understand that at a minimum, the employer is in the wrong here, but my kid really likes the job and doesn't want to quit or get fired for rocking the boat. So, my question is: how do I thread the needle to protect my kid on taxes/etc. without sacrificing their first job? Second question: how would this scenario be changed come Oct 1 when the new paycheck rules come into effect?

2024.06.09 16:18 pkishi66740 It’s getting harder with time…

Honestly I don’t even know what to say… I got broken up start of June. Out of nowhere. I miss him and love him still. I don’t think I would ever hate him for the way he suddenly decided to give up on me/us. I was ready to give up my job, my country, my friends for him; I was ready to move to his country. Because he asked me to, we agreed to do it this way. Yet it wasn’t enough for him after all. He was still unsure about the relationship.
After being the one coming back after a first breakup that he initiated, asking me to get back together, move in together, give him a second chance. I know I don’t need to find another reason, because he gave me his (he’s not sure/has other plans). Yet my brain keeps trying to look for other reasons. What could I have done differently, did he meet someone in his new team at work where there were only women. Did he lie, did he hide anything… he told me he would answer all my questions if I had any, but I can’t. Even though I’m going crazy imagining things, I just can’t contact him again. I contacted him enough already after the breakup. Messages, call, letter. I’m done being in this persons life. I’m done being hurt by him.
It’s the second time and I just can’t seem to stop being sad and feeling insecure about myself. I just want to feel at peace. I want to move on, yet I would still accept him back if he contacted me. I’m just not thinking straight ahah it is tiring to be in this state every single day. I did nothing but love him sincerely, I was patient, caring, I accepted many things I wouldn’t usually accept if it came to other people, I treated him well and gave him time when he had doubts. I put so much efforts just for him to waste it, a second time. I’m tired.
Please, leave me and never contact me ever again to hurt me... you have done enough, j

2024.06.09 16:02 Yorbitron Musician with Post Concussion syndrome

I will do my best to summarize. I have tried posting here before but it’s difficult for me to write everything out. I was in a car accident about 5 months ago. Other driver’s fault. At time of accident I was on a day off from work, employed as a hospital Audio Visual technician. I am a career musician and teacher but Covid made all of that very difficult. Up until Covid I had been running my own music school, teaching full time and working as a creative musician. When Covid hit I switched to remote teaching and taught over 3,000 remote lessons before I realized it wasn’t sustainable in this new world. I worked a couple hard jobs In warehouses and landscaping prior to finding work in a hospital. I’m grateful for this job as I was able to have insurance. The car accident left me with my right thumb badly torn at the base, a bad concussion, whiplash and a knee injury I’m about to have surgery for, torn meniscus. I’ve been limping this whole time and can’t walk without a brace. I’ve had over 70 therapy appointments since accident(hand, speech, vision, behavioral, PT, OT).
My brain injury has left me with impaired vision which I am awaiting prism glasses for. I have had therapy for hand, speech, vision, neck, back , etc. My nausea and headaches remain. I quit drinking alcohol about 2 1/2 years ago but since accident I feel hungover every morning. I go to bed by 9:30pm every night. I hardly have any motivation or interest in music now. It’s like every passion I had for art has dissipated and replaced with confusion and grief for my former self. I can barely handle household sounds when my wife is home and bright light is still very hard to tolerate. I’m about to get switched to Cobra and I don’t think I have much time left before my job security expires. Fortunately I hired a personal injury attorney. My attorney has had to hold off until my medical care was complete. I had to have an IME for insurance last week.
At this point it’s hard to wrap my head around returning to my AV hospital job in any capacity. I have been practicing some instruments like flute and piano but it’s hard to enjoy my main instruments like electric guitar and other instruments I used to play loud. A couple days after my accident I was contacted by a very well known artist who wanted to hire me for electric guitar recording sessions. I told him about my recent injury and that was it. He probably thinks I’m unavailable period now. I might not have another opportunity like that now.
When I make any music now it feels 100% for me. It feels unnecessary to even release my finished productions now. I used to be so excited to release a song or album and share with the world. Now I just don’t care. I definitely cannot teach music anymore and the idea of playing gigs doesn’t even make sense. I used to play jazz and experimental gigs every week and lived in Chicago and NYC. My teachers had been in bands with Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. My friends are all full time musicians. I have a hard time relating to them now.
I could go on and on. It’s very challenging to stay positive. I spend a lot of time sitting and thinking in silence. It’s been 5 months though. Prior to accident my wife and I planned a two week trip to Ireland. We are going at the end of June. I am looking forward to it and am grateful for my wife and her positivity and patience. When I return I will have knee surgery and will resume rebuilding my life as best I can. I am accepting that I am a new person now and the past is gone. I am lucky to still be here. I have a new outlook now and do not associate my entire identity with being a musician or artist. These are just things I enjoyed before and spent so much time with they became a part of me. In some ways they feel more a part of me now than before my brain injury. Now I do not feel any desire at all to perform or show anyone that I possess these skills. It used to be my whole life and now it feels like how I used to play basketball in middle school.
I feel so nauseous now I might not leave the house today. People who don’t struggle with TBI don’t understand how difficult it is to just appear positive in general. “Try to have a good day and enjoy the nice weather.” I get this sort of advice a lot and I have just started to ignore it. People think they are being helpful but a lot of times it comes off sounding like the annoying man asking the pretty lady why she doesn’t smile more.
I don’t know what else to say. Thank you for reading. Everyone’s posts have been helping me a lot lately. You’re not alone.

2024.06.09 16:01 DesperateCrazy9597 [TOMT] [Song] [2000’s-2010’s] Pop Punk song that’s been stuck in my head.

The song genre is like Pop Punk, Emo, or some Punk/Rock subgenre popular of the time. I’ve looked all over my Pop Punk playlists and can not find it.
It has some similar vibes or reminds me of some Bands/Songs The Kill by Thirty Seconds To Mars Holding Absence
Bands I’ve ruled out for the most part: Blink-182, FOB, Lit, Taking Back Sunday, ADTR, P!ATD, American HiFi, Bearings, Sum41, JEW, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Red Jumpsuit, Bowling For Soup, Green Day, Sugarcult, SR71, Story Of The Year, Rise Against, The Used, MCR, +44, Starting Line, Cartel, Saosin, Hit the Lights, Simple Plan, Dashboard, Neck Deep, Lucky Boy Confusion, Goldfinger, MCS, Ataris, NFG, Thrice, BOYS LIKE GIRLS, HH, Senses Fail, AFI, Escape The Fate, Mayday Parade, PTV, SWS, WTK, Real Friends, TSTM, and Holding Absence.
The songs chorus(?) is rising, reaches a peak and then repeats three syllable or three word phrase The lyrics I think are to my best memory, not what is in parentheses
Do you know (or can you explain? Idk) what it feels like to be Satisfied, shut it up shut it up shut it up (maybe cut it up or fuck it up)

2024.06.09 15:59 shannene123 Frida’s full story 💕😇 Rest easy now pretty girl. Life was not fair to you.

Frida’s full story 💕😇 Rest easy now pretty girl. Life was not fair to you.
First off, I want to thank everyone who has been so kind during this journey. Please know that I’ve read every single comment on every post I’ve made about them and appreciate the support so much. Now I’ll go into details of what happened (I’ll start from the very beginning for anyone that might be new to their story). On May 16th, I got word about several mare and foal pairs that were going through an auction in Missouri that had been shipped there from Mississippi. As soon as I saw Fridas picture from that auction, I was determined to help her and her foal. I registered to bid online. All of the pairs were going for over $1,000 each. Once Fridas bid got to that as well, I backed down thinking that surely it was a private home bidding on her and she’d be safe… I was wrong. I worked diligently to track them down and found out that a trader in Wisconsin had bought them. As soon as I got in contact with them, I bought them for a marked up price of $1,300 on May 18th. Being all the way in Pennsylvania, I started working on finding a place for them to quarantine, rest, and start recovery so that they would hopefully get healthy enough to make the trip home. I found an AMAZING family who took them in without question. They moved their 3 personal horses to their neighbors pasture so that Frida and Olive could have the peace and quiet they needed and deserved. When they arrived we knew very little about them. I had the trader lot put a halter and catch rope on her before they left because no one knew the extent of Fridas handling at the time. Of course, we found out that she was either completely feral or horribly abused. Her feet were horrific. She was severely emaciated. She was extremely beat up, probably from trying to protect Olive when they were being shipped all over the place. It was not a good situation. We had the vet out immediately after they arrived and she suggested that we give them a little bit of time to decompress, relax, and get some nutrition into them before we stress them out. As she and several others said, she went this long with her feet like this, a while longer isn’t going to make a difference. Frida was too weak to cause her any stress or to sedate her. The vet told us to start letting her out onto the grass for a few hours each day. We did and she LOVED it. She was so happy. Olive loved napping in the sun and grass while her momma ate. They started to do so well. Frida started whinnying at the family who was taking care of them and would come and eat hay out of their hands. They would sit outside with them and read or sing or just talk to them. She got a little spark back in her eye. The family adored them. Frida learned that the words “good girl” meant that she was indeed doing good and she loved hearing it. Olive started running and playing like a normal foal. Out of no where on Thursday, June 6th I got a call early in the morning saying that the vet should probably come out for Frida. After the call, I got a video and she could not move and was non weight bearing on her right front. They put hay and water next to her while waiting for the vet and she ate and drank. The vet arrived and was able to get Frida into a chute made of a panel. She was such a good girl for the process and once she was in there she let them rub all over her body and ate hay from their hands again. She only panicked when someone moved too fast around her face (this is why the vet thinks she may have been horribly abused VS feral, because she didn’t act feral in the chute and she even took the banamine paste in her mouth perfectly). We decided to keep her on pain meds and give her a few days to try and get her pain managed so that we could figure out our next step. She could barely stand on her right front and it was going to be impossible for a farrier to do any type of emergency work on her that day. On Friday morning things were looking a little better. She was moving around more (it wasn’t the prettiest but it seemed like an improvement). She learned quickly to go into the chute for her meds and was such a good sport. Late Friday night I got a message that Frida probably needed to be admitted to a hospital for better care than they had the means to provide for a terrified horse at their place and that they thought she needed more than just time to be able to get through this. I was surprised because earlier Friday evening she seemed to still be doing a little better than she was. Then very early Saturday morning I got another video. I was devastated at what I was watching. My heart sank and I knew immediately that things were probably not going to end well. I got on the phone right away and a lovely woman who doesn’t even know me dropped everything to go and pick up Frida and Olive and take them to the clinic. Frida hopped right onto the trailer even while she was in such bad shape. While they were on the way I was keeping in touch with the vet. She warned me that based on what I was saying and the video that I sent her that things looked bleak and to start preparing to raise an orphan foal or find a nurse mare. I told her I’m willing to try whatever we can to save Frida but I understand that there may not be any options. Once they arrived the vet called me and the first words out of her mouth (in the kindest way possible) were “it would be completely cruel to keep this mare alive, given how terrified she is of humans and her current condition, she has a very small chance of coming out of this and it would be dangerous for any vet and farrier that would have to do the real work to even try and help her”. I agreed to let her go peacefully. The way she was walking was horrifying. She was petrified at the vets. She got “comfortable” with the family that was quarantining them and I am thankful that she had 3 weeks with them to get to know what good people were. The amazing woman that took them to the clinic stayed with Frida until she was gone, talking to her and loving on her. Olive was checked over by the vet (she’s extremely healthy!) and then was sedated and taken back to her farm. We are actively trying to find a nurse mare for her. In the meantime she is being offered milk replacer, milk pellets, hay, and water. She is understandably sad but doing well given the situation. We will continue to do everything in our power to do right by her. I am very sad that things ended this way for Frida. I wanted to see her get better and live happily ever after in my pasture but sadly it wasn’t in the cards ☹️. I have her tail being sent to me and I plan on getting a bracelet made for the family that took amazing care of them for the three weeks I owned them as well as a bracelet for the woman who dropped everything within minutes to help yesterday. Everyone is heartbroken. Again, thank you for all of the love and support you all sent their way.

2024.06.09 15:58 KatieLaw16 39M, Large Left-Sided Diaphragmatic Hernia, to be treated in 8 weeks? Pic in comments.

How Emergent is a Diaphragmatic Hernia?
39M.
I am posting for a friend so I don't know a lot of his specific health information, medications, but I do know he's generally healthy aside from a diagnosis of neurofibromatosis. He doesn't smoke, only socially drinks.
For the past couple months he's been dealing with back pain as well as a non-productive cough, wheezing, and feeling like he can't take a good breath in. He and his wife were afraid that he was developing an internal tumor t his NF. They were trying to get his PCP to help investigate this but referrals were very hard to get and slow to get processed.
Ultimately, on June 4th, they went to the ER. His wheezing and shortness of breath was worsening so they decided this might be the quickest way to answers. I believe labs looked WNL and vitals were WNL, including his O2 saturation.
Eventually they did a CT Scan and he was diagnosed with a left-sided Diaphragmatic hernia. I will post screenshots of the report in the comments.
Ultimately they told him he would not be able to have this fixed in our area due to the complexity and rarity of this. On June 7th, they spoke with an academic center 2 hours away and they have a consult on June 19th and were told the surgery would likely be 4-6 weeks after that, IF the surgeon wants to do it.
My friend is so disheartened by this timeline, and is scared. Over the past couple days, he's continued to feel worse. His "voice is noticably raspier within the last 4 days, can't talk on the phone because no one can hear me. Can't walk and talk at the same time without being extremely winded and/or dizzy, super fatigued, intermittent pains in abdomen. More and more nauseous."
Does this timeline seem reasonable?
If it doesn't seem reasonable, what can we say or do to expedite things?

2024.06.09 15:56 ExtroverTom The Best Debut I Have Ever Seen : In Four Acts

Before I start, I have to semi-dox myself and say that I am Indonesian. I have to do that because it would add so much more context to this story.
Prologue : The Antlers
https://preview.redd.it/ih54st9rji5d1.png?width=1732&format=png&auto=webp&s=22f3fcd319a0a621b918c5ba1cf11ff19d3ad818
I bought the latest Football Manager few months ago while the price was discounted. I was so excited to finally have J-League licensed because playing in Asia have been my lifelong FM dream but without J-League which is arguably the biggest and most competitive league in Asia, it just felt wrong.
I embarked on this year's journey the same way I have always started, to pick one of the top half teams in the league that I wanted to play, so that I get accustomed not only by the league rules but more importantly by the latest features and wrinkles of the game. I usually would play it for a season before moving on to the real long-term save.
This year, the lucky organization is Kashima Antlers. To cut the story short about this club background, you can imagine them like Japanese Manchester United with even less successful history. They have gone years without lifting a trophy but is able to consistently stay on the contention. Now that I said that, I guess they are the less horribly managed Japanese Manchester United.
My one and only mission : bring the J1-League trophy back to the Island of Antlers. Although, whatever it was that I wanted to do, I have to do it within the limitation of only 5 foreign players as per J1 rules and the lack wingers within the club. After hours of thinking and tinkering I came up with a tactic that I believe would work.
https://preview.redd.it/rzfx9sn3mi5d1.png?width=645&format=png&auto=webp&s=7eb7296ced348ee3f4414c474111ee54e643f0e2
The asymmetric 4-3-3 which emphasized the quality of Target Man Kai Chinen and homegrown talent Yuma Suzuki as well as 'hiding' the lack of winger but still be able to offer some width in the field. Saying that, it was still necessary for me to find a better winger for the formation than Yuta Matsumura, which was decent, but not good nor was he well-suited enough with the way I want to play.
Kai Chinen: Our main striker and one of our best player
The stats of Yuta Matsumura which was actually decent relative to the league quality, but not good enough. Also the only wingers other than him were some promising yet raw young talents.
**1******st Act : The Reds
J1-League transfer window would be closed on 31 March. By the start of the month I have brought into the team some quality players: Roberto Soriano and Ismael for free and bring creativity in that midfield, and an uzbek guy called Hojiakbar Alijonov, a mature physical attacking right back which will provide those crosses from the right winger-less side of our formation.
I have not found my guy to be put in that left side though, until a young right-footed brazilian had a semi-fallout with his club and get transfer-listed. SC Internacional, his club, asked for two millions euros for whoever wanted to bring him out from Brazil. Having only spent so little, and in nearly desperate need for a winger, I jumped into the chance, and built a 2 millions worth of a deal based on so many installments and bonuses. Finally after some contract negotiation, my long-awaited inside forward has finally arrived on 06 March 2023.
His name is Joao Gabriel Martins Peglow, a 21-years-old who modeled his game after his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. He has good technique as well as physical attributes perfected by almost world class amount of flair. With him running with the ball down our left side, I believe we can outrun and outscore anybody in the league.
Peglow: Our main winger, and he had not even reached his ceiling
and I was not making it up when I say he idolized CR7.
**2******nd Act : The Braces
You are forgiven for thinking that this story is about Peglow's debut. But it's not. His debut is mediocre at best. Playing against Urawa Red Diamonds in the J-League Cup (Japanese equivalent of Carabao Cup), he did not offer much. Only attempted 15 passes, produced 6.6 match rating, before I had to take him off in the one-hour mark of the game. In the game where the opponent produced nearly as many XGs from half as many shots, we ended up winning thanks to heroic performance of our first-choice goalkeeper, Tomoki Hayakawa.
https://preview.redd.it/ajp90s8gui5d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5776948e9747bc51adb265861cb339e39c7f297b
Debuts are expected to be rough though. The real glimpse of what Peglow could bring to the team came almost two weeks after his debut. After another stinker which saw him produced 6.4 match rating in the league match that we otherwise dominated, I trusted and started him again in the match against one of the big boys: Yokohama Marinos. He paid that with an impressive return. I had to wait for a while though.
From the get-go, Yokohama's midfield which operate weirdly with two mezzalas in front of the single pivot, clearly got overrun by our midfield led by Roberto Soriano and spearheaded by Peglow. But it was our free agent signing, Ismael and our homegrown striker Yuki Kakita who gave us 2-0 lead before the halftime. In the 2nd half though, it's all Peglow's world and we were just living on it. He scored two goals in the span of 3 minutes before assisting another one in the closing stage of the match to close the game 5 goals to none. What a performance from him and surely, surely from then on, he would be the one leading this club to the promised land right?
Right?
https://preview.redd.it/3kj05obw4j5d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=94252890ec6063fd5dcac12f0bd6cb02b4f7f3dd
**3******rd Act : The South-Easterners
All good things must come to an end. Some before it even begun.
I rested Peglow in the following match against lower division club in hope that he would be in peak condition for our next league match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Then the news struck.
It was 31 March, maybe around 10 am. Just one day before the league match mentioned before. Peglow was dribbling the ball in training when suddenly he turned sharply and fell. He scream in agony while the emergency radiology found out that he twisted his ankle and out for at least a month. It was far from being a career-ender, but if you pay close attention, it was 31 March. Not only was it just one day before the match, it was also THE transfer deadline. I only had hours to find Peglow's replacement. I had to.
https://preview.redd.it/f8soyhr1ij5d1.png?width=1629&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c00e1de090710e603a26e1dec0a83dbab606d81
I panicked and scrambled around scouting reports and player search columns. It was extra difficult knowing I had filled my foreigner quotas, so I could not add another foreigner anymore, but the japanese winger available just did not cut it. And there, at that moment, we came back full circle to me talking about the wrinkles of the league.
J-League has this unique registration rules where we could only field maximum of five foreign players, but with a little bit of curveball added. Due to some real life agreements, players from South East Asia countries is treated as non-foreign players. So I could buy and field whatever amount of players from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and my real life home country Indonesia, together with other smaller South East Asia countries that I wanted. It did not help me instantly though as there are next to none SEA players that good enough for the top division of japanese league, let alone to be the replacement of Peglow.
That's until just 8 hours before the deadline is closed, a message come to my inbox. Agent recommendation. Candra Firmansyah, an Indonesian agent, notified me about one of his clients. A left winger, just as young as Peglow, does not get the playing time he needed in his club ADO Den Haag and after just 3 appearance in the first team, he thought it was the right time to be loaned out. ADO agreed and he became loan listed. His name? Rafael Struick.
Rafael Struick : Every Indonesian knows who this man is. For you who do not know, oh you will soon do.
I took a glimpse. And I sit there in front of my laptop trying to process it. Not only does the boy good enough for the J1-League, he almost as good as Peglow. I could even argue his technical ability is superior and his physical attributes are comparable. For a moment I got "kicked out" back to real life and thinking not as Hiruzen Hiragana the Japanese manager of Kashima Antlers my alter ego, but as me myself, and thinking "It must be nice to manage my countryman in the biggest competition in the continent."
I might overpaid for him. Giving ADO 200k just for a loan fee seems a bit much and my board felt that way too. But, I need a winger, the deadline was just 4 hours away, I did not have many choices. So I pulled the trigger. The administration team moved fast enough to conclude the deal just in time. In the midnight Kashima Antlers welcoming the promising Indonesian youngster and hopes that he is fit for the match, tomorrow.
Final Act : The Mismatches
Bad news and good news. The bad news is Peglow's injury was not a nightmare nor an SI april mop at all. The good news, Struick was in peak condition to play against Hiroshima. I did not know how he took flight from den Haag to Kashima without took a nosedive in terms of his fitness, but there he is, just hours after signing the contract, wearing red shirt and white shorts, ready for his debut.
Hiroshima was not an easy opponent to play let alone for the first time. They finished in the 3rd place the season before. The attack was dangerously led by brazilian target man, Vieira and the defence was solid under the command of Kansai University alumni Hayato Araki. The road gets steeper due to the fact that heroic Hayakawa got injured, so Karl Jakob-Hein, another emergency loanee, deputized him between the sticks. But, ready or not, it's game on.
From the very first minute, I can see that Struick got cold feet. Maybe from the jet lag, maybe because he was not familiar with the exotic asymmetric system. Whatever it was, he did not look good. My hopes for Peglow to miraculously be healed and playing that day peaked when in just the 4th minute mark, Struick has the ball in the left side on the field and tried to make a field-switching pass to Ismael on the center of the field, but his wobbly legs did not generate enough power and the ball was stolen by Hiroshima's midfielder, Matsumoto.
https://preview.redd.it/f0qgltr0pj5d1.png?width=1918&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b8f915baec7d2a2fc3c717e7a6826595ec736b4
Who brings the ball upfield, did a 1-2 pass combination into our penalty box, before swiftly pushing the ball in the path of their forward, Kashiwa who then struck the ball behind our net. Kashima 0, Hiroshima 1. In the 4th minute mark.
https://preview.redd.it/rklaitj3pj5d1.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=ff4daac7aab6eeb0674f2b5d8a36bd3d42877376
I encouraged the team, told them that there are still 86 minutes to play. I saw Kai Chinen came over to Struick, maybe to help him calm his nerve. I did not know what Chinen said, but whatever it was, it worked. Just a couple of minutes after did that horrendous pass, Struick again found himself in the left side of the field. This time though, he had more confidence in his heart, and brought the ball way up front.

He then passed to Chinen who quickly gave the ball to Suzuki in the right side. It was Suzuki's show right after. He dribbled past two defenders before hit the ball so hard, Hiroshima's keeper, Osako could barely even react. It's 1-1 and there are still 84 minutes left.

This match is destined to be an end-to-end affair, when after Ismael Silva stopped Hiroshima's passing in the centre of the field, he found Alijonov running full speed on the right side. And running he does. Alijonov picked the ball just inside our side of the field and quickly run near the byline, bringing the ball up ahead.

Without any pressure whatsoever, Alijonov bent a cross into penalty area where all of our forwards are ready to head it home. Some of you might notice that Struick had pretty impressive jumping reach. But I did not notice that until Struick leapt above the right back who man-marked him. And when I say leap, i mean it almost looked like that Ronaldo's header against Sampdoria. Struick headed it home, his first goal, just 10 minute into his debut. It's 2-1 for Kashima Antlers.
https://preview.redd.it/y1lrcz9krj5d1.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=1bf583e3529d0bd32432354c24f89d30572e85ff

That goal gave Struick and the team massive confidence boost. At the same time, Hiroshima looked trembled. Few seconds later, they misplaced a pass and let Chinen stole the ball and slot it home. It's 3-1 after 11 minute.
https://preview.redd.it/vqdileo5sj5d1.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=9569da28b3b7701c33817dd86540ee17f1b2d38a
The game calms down a little bit until in the 35th minute, again Alijonov found space in the right side and bent another cross almost finding Struick. But this time Hayato Araki won the duel and headed the ball for a throw-in. A few simple pass from throw in then ended in Struick's feet who stood just inside the penalty box.
With a few neat moves, Struick found the ball in his right feet and rocketed the ball deep into the low left side of the goal. It's a brace in his debut and it's 4-1 for Kashima Antlers.

After that, I instructed my team to lower the tempo a bit, to conserve energy and retain possession. It resulted in the match gone calm for a bit. After Kashiwa sent an amazing cross to Vieira who headed it past Jakob Hein and Chinen slotted home a penalty kick to make it all 5-2, Matsumura who came in for Suzuki had the ball inside Hiroshima's penalty area before he's getting tackled. Referee pointed out to the spot for the second time. Chinen, the original taker, took the ball and give it to Struick, to let him complete this magnificent night both for him and the team. Struick shot it as hard as he could, it did not fool the goalkeeper, but it blew past him. It's a hattrick in his debut, and it's a dominating 6-2 win for the team.
https://preview.redd.it/3dagt73juj5d1.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=60c16cc4aa06335339ae74834238d1e2b19778c7
He ended the night with 3 goals, 1 key pass, won 7 aerial duels, attempted 5 tackles and won all of them, covered 13.1 kilometres the most compared to every other player in the field, and fielded a match rating of 9.9. It was a dream debut for Rafael Struick.
Epilogue : The Reasons
Now some of you might say, "meh, I once have a debutant scored 5 goals and assisted 5 more." And I would not object that. That's why the title is the best debut I have ever seen, not YOU have ever seen. Because from FM standpoint it is "just" a good showing, not a spectacular one.
But this is so personal to me. This is my first save after months of hiatus, and just the pure hype of this game, the roller coaster of emotion just based on finding the right inside forward, it's just beautiful. This story, especially this match, makes me love FM all over again.

2024.06.09 15:55 ty_hard Surprise, surprise, it’s tough to dine without knowing French…

35M currently in Paris on a solo vacation, and while the city and the food have been amazing so far, I’m finding it difficult to review the menu and to order confidently as a non-French speaker. I feel like it’s keeping me away from some of the bettecoolelocal spots. Goes for both restaurants and bars.
Anyone here who can speak French already planning to go out over the next few days - June 9, 10 - who’d be willing to join me? Or are there any sort of general group meetups happening (here or another app) for this kind of stuff?
Alternatively, any recommendations on good restaurants (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) where I won’t feel like a complete fool ordering and hanging out?
I’m staying right near the border of the 11th and 12th arrondissement, but haven’t had any issues getting around town, so all suggestions are welcomed. Merci!

2024.06.09 15:52 Jennydrinkstea Good phrasing for face to face self promotion?

Hey everyone,
I just began my own little practice within a massage therapy clinic. Since I know that esthetics can be a slow start, I was able to get a receptionist position at this massage place on the days I'm not offering services. I feel so lucky because I am able to promote myself to their clients, and this clinic is very well established.
I've set out flyers and brochures on my services and have been lucky enough to get some bookings, but I think I could do more.
I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas? I was thinking of handing out brochures to pts as they're leaving when I work reception but can't figure out the correct wording to really entice them to my treatments. If you have any ideas for phrasing I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance :)

2024.06.09 15:50 lanatlas I've been trying to figure out for years what's been biting me. Any leads?

Hello. I hope this allowed- I know that pictures of big bites aren't usually useful for identification, but I'm hoping a description of the bite behavior is helpful/allowed?
Every year for the past few years, I start getting bug bites around June-August in central and coastal North Carolina . This usually occurs when I've been out on my porch/patio, and was particularly bad in one apartment when my bed was next to my porch door.
The bites tend to show up 2-3 days after I've been out on the porch and not right away (though I'm normally a bit slow to react to bites) and while they can occur alone, they're usually grouped together in a line of 2-3 with each one a few inches apart. They don't tend to go for the feet or ankles and really like the middle of my legs, around the front and backs of my knees. They'll also go for the back sometimes, and rarely the arms. Never my front or face.
That sounded very bed-buggy to me, and year after year I'd freak out, check my bed, have pest control out to check my bed, find nothing, and the bites would stop happening as soon as my porch was sprayed, though I've never actually seen any bugs. The one year I didn't get any, I had a screened in porch, so whatever it is is big enough to be kept out by a screen.
Does anyone have any idea what the bug could be?

2024.06.09 15:44 ExtroverTom The Best Debut I Have Ever Seen : In Four Acts

The Best Debut I Have Ever Seen : In Four Acts
1***\**st* Act : The Reds
2***\**nd* Act : The Braces
3***\**rd* Act : The South-Easterners

2024.06.09 15:44 spotted-cat Family Drama

So growing up I got to experience the wonders of parenthood via parentification. Which basically means I was stuck raising my siblings -- especially my sister whose fifteen years younger than me -- and taking care of my family since the age of twelve. At first it was just happy homemaker bullshit -- cooking dinner for me, my brother, his friends, and my grandfather, then doing all the dishes, making and serving coffee to my mom and her friends. Then my sister was born when I was in high school, and my mom went off the fucking deep end because of post-partum depression or some shit. And pretty much every minute of the day when my sister wasn't at daycare, she was with me. Now, I have this super fucked up complex where it's like she's my daughter (she's not) and my sister.
But getting to the point, she's eighteen now and my mom wants her to pay rent. Because on top of everything else our mom is also a gambling addict who can't pay her bills on her own and works three jobs to maintain her gambling habit and being a semi-functional adult. My sister is starting college late in January because she has stomach ulcers and is taking some time off because of that. Then yesterday she told me that she is planning on moving out and has been looking for apartments. At eighteen. And I get that she can technically do whatever she wants, but as a fucking rape and domestic abuse survivor I just feel like an eighteen-year-old girl who never even learned how to wash the dishes or use the microwave until she was twelve should not out on her own and left to her own devices.
So I told our mom.
Then my stepdad found out and surprisingly, hilariously, he did not seem to care at all about my sister's safety. He said that I should have just kept my mouth shut and let her make her own mistakes because now HE was gonna hear about it from my mom. And I just---!!!!
I feel like an asshole, okay, for ratting my sister out, but I'm not fucking sorry that I don't want her to end up fucking homeless or living with a goddamn abuser like I did. And I'm so fucking mad at my stepdad for not seeing the fucking bigger picture here. Like yeah she needs to make her own mistakes -- that doesn't mean she needs to be subjected to fucking abuse. Like JFC.
Okay, I'm done.

2024.06.09 15:44 SwimmingHelicopter15 Did you had any struggles while transitioning to a plant based diet? If yes, what were they and how did you overcome

I am kind of an intruder here because I have an around 70% plant based diet but I really love it and enjoy this sub for inspiratio. I started transitioning 3 years ago for health reasons and had many struggles. Some of them may go with time others with more effort. I will share mine and maybe you have advices or similar experiences:
-time. I had years of long working hours with fast food and usually one day reserved for cooking. When I started to transition I had started to cook more often, learning new things ecc. But now with a baby is really hard. I am looking into meal prep so I could cook one day and in rest make quick meals. I tried to look many times "quick and easy" recipes but most of the are not.
I hope that I will get better at meal prep and maybe in a year I will have more time.
-household. My husband does not eat something unless it has meat. He is very picky and won't try new things. He used to eat fast food more than me but recently he decided finally to lose weight so I am cooking for him. He has his struggles and can't do it on his own I can't leave him obese. I usually do some meals for us to share. Ooh and also baby food. This takes me an hour per day.
-comfort food. In stressful times or sick times I would go back to comfort food like chicken soup, pasta with cheese, sarmale, chicken pate, sardines.
Maybe with time some plant based recipes will become comfort food.
-learning new recipes. I had to try to make curry 11 times untill I learned how I like it. Tried several times in restaurants but it was always to spicy. Probably there are a bunch of others recipes a to learn and tweak for myself
-get used to it so you don't miss other recipes. I guess for some of us if we grow around fatty food is hard to get accustomed to plant based food.
Maybe with time I will get used. Cut soda from my life 5 years ago and don't miss it.
-ingredients. I live in Eastern Europe. A lot of recipes that I read have ingredients not so common or affordable here. Lucky for me due to lent we have a lot of traditional vegan recipes I just have to cut the deep fried ones. Still is frustrating.
Sorry for the long text. Maybe some of you encountered similar struggles. I am happy with this diet and I hope to reach a higher percentage.

2024.06.09 15:44 Regular-Yoghurt-5220 Making a list for lawyer…

I think I’m finally going to take my ex to court. See three years ago he manipulated me into signing away my rights. He said just until I’m back on my feet…(this was when we separated and I was going on my own.) he said he’d have it reversed when I was all settled. Stupid me trusted him.. four years later I’m working have a partner and place of our own. He still will not have it reversed!!! I asked him he just said no he never will. So I’m finally talking to a lawyer. He also has been turning my daughters against me, I haven’t spoke or done anything with my oldest in a year and my middle daughter is following in her footsteps. My 7 year old son will only talk and see me. Iam so grateful for him, we’ve gotten so close. So here’s my list so far. That first point is , he told me it’s a privilege to see my kids when he found out I let my son around my long term boyfriend. Mind you he has been living with his gf!! Such double standards. I’ve just been sick thinking of how they all treat me now. Last I saw my oldest daughter she called me a bitch for no reason! I actually posted about it .. anyways I’m losing my mind.

2024.06.09 15:43 silentfanatic Killer Mains: How Do You Learn to Accept Defeat?

After going through a very rough summer last year, I’ve been able to get my kill rate back up to around 80% (average of 16-20 games per day). Maybe a third of those wins are close contests, while the rest are from stomping pubs. Typical day as a killer main for most.
That last 20% though, yeesh. On any given day, I’m guaranteed to get four or five teams where I never even had a chance. Wouldn’t matter what map it was on, which killer I used, or what perks or add ons I brought. They know how to chain tiles and crank gens, and I’m lucky to get two hooks, much less a kill.
Having said that, this is how a match like that should logically play out. Four skilled players SHOULD be able to stomp most killers. I know this in my head, and yet somehow I still feel like an irredeemable piece of shit each time this happens. Oddly, I don’t get this way as survivor, only as killer.
So my fellow killer mains, how do you get yourself to let go of feelings of shame when a good team beats you? Not even talking about being bullied, just straight up outplayed.

RPLND after surgery story
I underwent this operation in the Netherlands on June 4. In the meantime I am back home and feeling quite good again, here is a small report for those who are interested and especially for those who still have to undergo the operation.
day 1 - surgery: I received both an epidural and general anesthesia, both were pain free in the application. the operation took about 5 hours in total. I woke up in the recovery room and was a little dizzy for the first hour because of the anesthesia. When I was done with this, I was taken to the nursing ward where my family was waiting for me. I mainly suffered from a tube in my stomach that caused some discomfort in my throat, but I had no pain.
day 2: Slept poorly due to the tube in my stomach, but it was quickly removed leaving me feeling quite comfortable, still little to no pain.
day 3: the rest of the tubes (wound drain, catheter and epidural) were removed, allowing me to move comfortably again. still no pain complaints.
day 4: removed the last infusions and felt so good that after demonstrating appetite and movement I was discharged from the hospital. Pain is only present when I have to stand up or walk, but it is perfectly manageable and nothing to be afraid of.
Additional information: The doctors were not able to remove all the swollen lymph nodes and we now have to wait for the results of the nodes that were removed. Prior to this process, I had a testicle removed and completed a BEP treatment (4). And I still feel strong, so the message of all this is that you don't have to worry too much about this operation and its after-effects, it is perfectly doable. Although experiences will of course differ, I still think it is important to share a positive story, because other positive experience stories have allowed me to undergo the operation with little fear. for those who have yet to, good luck and feel free to ask questions!
