2024.06.01 22:42 Sandurz Good time to go try JewBoy Cantina while UT is out for the summer

I’ve been to the Sub Shop and Slider spot a ton, and the burger shop a couple of times, but kept forgetting about the new Cantina location. Finally made it over to their new location today, had a good sampling of things, and really liked it.
Salsas: four different salsas, all tasty without much flavor overlap, they all pretty much go with everything. Spicy Ranch was the most unique, probably worthy of a more fun name, but the creamy green (think doña but a little milder) and the chile de arbol were my faves.
Flautas: tried brisket and chicken, both had really great, smoky flavor. Not overfried or greasy, perfect size. Really good!
Burrito: these are smalledifferent than the burger shop burritos. I tried some there once and they were tasty but super heavy since that queso weighs you down. Not the case here! I got a green chile pork, was very tasty and filling but didn’t feel overindulgent. The standout was the flour tortilla. They’re made to order, really soft and tender, was pleasantly surprised.
Sliders: had these a ton but had to get a couple just in case. I’m a sucker for their Schmutz sauce and needed a little hit of it on the Gringo slider. If you like the slider location, you’ll like these. Didn’t get any today but the only negative is the fries aren’t the seasoned kind like the sub and slider shops have, I love those.
It’s over behind the drag at Hole In The Wall so parking is easy as it’s gonna be while school is out of session, take advantage and give it a go. I’m a fan of all their restaurants and this one had slipped my mind for a while since I heard about the opening, wanted to spread the word.

Bagged salad was BB yesterday…
So I shredded some roast chicken chunks and Parmesan in there with some Everything Bagel seasoning, mini baguette croutons, and a fucktonne of ranch dressing.
Remember kids, the veggies you eat with dressing/cheese/butteketchup/sauce full o’ fat and sugar are still better for you than the plain veggies you don’t eat at all!

Akon gave a detailed account of the events surrounding the leak during an appearance on Tavis Smiley’s PBS television show in January 2009:
“Me and Mike did this incredible record called Hold My Hand and the record is amazing. Phenomenal. And the concept was that this would be Mike’s first release off of his new album, and then I would stripe it on my album – on my following release. That way we could have the outlets open for everyone to be able to receive the record. You know, Mike came up with this brilliant marketing launch for the record. You know, he’s the best at launching a record.”
Akon continues:
“He’d have the whole world paying attention in two minutes… And before we could get to that point, the record got leaked over the internet. And we got over 15 million downloads on the song for free. So we couldn’t [release it]. You can’t at that point. Everybody already has the record. But in a way, you gotta look at it like… that’s just a gift to the fans.”

2024.06.01 02:58 dragonsboon12 Is pairing barbecue sauce with ranch not a thing in Ohio?

I am very confused, I mentioned making a barbecue ranch chicken salad for lunch over the weekend to some coworkers and everyone looked at me like a grew an extra set of arms. Where I’m from mixing barbecue with ranch as a salad dressing or for dipping onion rings in is common place but no one I ask has ever heard of that, and they seem revolted by the concept.

2024.05.31 05:15 WirelessPoseidon Anyone sell chicken eggs in the area or know any local small farms/ranches that do?

I'm looking for better sourced chicken eggs. If I'm gonna be paying this much for a carton of eggs made from hellish living conditions, I might as well pay the same price instead for eggs that come from pasture raised chickens and support local farmers.

2024.05.31 00:26 bipanics Meal Ideas for People Struggling

One thing about me when I first started was I was always looking for new food ideas. Which isn’t bad, but does get a bit hard AND i kind of hate cooking.
So here are pretty easy meals that I make! Sorry in advance for formatting, i’m on my phone!
Breakfast- (i’m not a big breakfast person) When I do eat breakfast I just simply get some oatmeal (mines blueberry) and throw in a scoop of protein powder (which is blueberry muffin flavored) When I make this i believe it’s around 180 calories and 16 grams of protein since I didn’t add a whole scoop.
Lunch- Cottage Cheese Pizza Bowl. Add your preferred amount of cottage cheese (sometimes I do 110 grams but today I did 278 which was still only 271 calories) Add your pizza sauce (I did 31 grams which was 15 calories) Add whatever else you want as the toppings! I usually just add turkey pepperoni and some cheese but i’ve done mushrooms too! Then toss in the microwave for 1:00, stir, and 1:00 again. I love this, it’s high protein, and it’s great! This meal is 357 calories and 37 grams of protein when using 278 grams of cottage cheese + my toppings.
Lunch- Teriyaki Chicken Bowl Get 90 second Jasmine Rice and Cauliflower Rice and do half jasmine and half cauliflower in a bowl! This makes it less calories but lets you still enjoy the real rice, and if you don’t like cauliflower rice you can’t even really tell it’s there in my experience. Get your chicken (I use canned chicken from jayc but you can use any kind!) Add around 30-40 grams of your preferred teriyaki sauce and mix it into the chicken Throw that in a pan to heat it up or you could even microwave it I season my rice at this point with pepper, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Then add the chicken to your rice and I personally put about 20 more grams of teriyaki sauce! This meal is usually around 400 calories and 34-40 grams of protein.
Lunch/Dinner- Salad Salads are so underrated because you can add anything you really want to them. You don’t have to give up ranch! I use ranch lite because fat free is awful to me. But my salad is around 350-400 calories once the ranch is added. My salad is usually around 20 grams of protein which isn’t amazing, but it’s just so good.
Most nights for dinner I eat whatever is made and try my best to calorie count everything and pay attention to portions.
I also eat out a good amount but on those days I make sure to keep some calories so I can have a better choice of meals depending on where we go!

2024.05.30 21:53 Incanzio Culprit (First Table)

Culprit (First Table)
Unforgettable and $90 a head
Started with vischyssoise, aka, fancy potato soup - cold, with cubes of pear. Delightful.
Kaimoana Platter... Wow. The oysters were as if they had ran down to the wharf and grabbed them out of the ocean. Couldn't taste much fresher. The sashimi was gorgeous with finger limes and buttermilk! The salmon cones had this property of being uber creamy (from the crayfish creme) but also crumbly so you could stuff the whole thing in your trap without much issue. The arancini at the back were very good albeit maybe a tad dry, but still A grade, kahawai is a very neutral fish so I think they could've smoked it for better effect but that's just mEEE
Interlude of fruit toast with torched quince, very old cheese and pear butter. Damn. I was just laughing as I ate it. So tasty 😋
The highlight of the meals was definitely the Royalburn lamb tartare with crispy Kumara, burger sauce and gherkins. It is delightfully playful and undeniably unctuous.
BURNT BRUSSEL SPROUTS what the heck HOW did they do this it's so good!!! They come loaded with salt and vinegar seasoning and kiwi onion ranch, I wish it were a bit more sour but I really loved it.
The pumpkin was a really great highlight of good quality produce just being highlighted and the mix with peanut butter was extraordinary - highly recommend you try make something similar.
Secret Menu Item - Duck Tacos - This is how you can experience some of the Culprit duck experience whilst on First Table - $7 each (no discount applied) but wowza, I'd have bought another if my stomach would've allowed it.
Ugly carrot - this dish is genius and simple. It has inspired me to always use up a final carrot in the fridge in the future as I can load it up with a bit of pumpkin seed and dukkah and Bada Bing it'll be good
Jelly jetplanes - wow. Just so much fun and very tasty, good segue into the finale.
Beef brisket - Epic flavour and good portion size. Delicious when all is combined. Basically a take on corned beef with mustard sauce.
Fish - Monkfish was the fish and my piece was a tad dry sadly, but other than that the meal itself was very well composed, the grapes interwoven with chicken fat and fish is an unexpectedly delightful combination.
Last - Apple Pie Bombe. It's the perfect finishing act and so delightfully sweet and soft, like resting your tired jaw and mouth into a pillow.
Overall, I wish that the CIA would mind erase me so I could do it again for the first time. 9.5/10.

2024.05.30 06:01 TransformersFan077 Chapter 3: Changes

Rose was sitting on the couch with Steven watching SpongeBob Squarepants, and Greg was listening to the radio at the minibar.
"And we're back! make sure to dial our station's number, so you and five other lucky people can see LINKIN PARK live in Madison Square Garden on July 1st and you will all have backstage passes to meet LINKIN PARK themselves!" Greg dialed the number as fast as he could and called him.
"Hey, your listening to ROCK 195.7 Deleware's hottest station for all things Rock! what is your name, man?"
"Greg Universe." The raido host did a double take, to make sure that he wasn't hearing things. The fact that the male was talking to THE Mr. Universe.
"Well, Mr. Universe, you have won yourself and six other people to go see LINKIN PARK LIVE in Maddison Square Garden, congratulations!"
Greg jumped up and pumped his fist in the air. "YES!" Steven and Rose looked up from the TV and to the man. "Guys!" he said.
"What's up, Greg?" Rose asked her husband, Greg grabbed her and kissed her cheek. "We are going to see LINKIN PARK!" Greg said, Steven jumped up and hugged his dad.
"No way! you won them?" Steven asked. Greg smiled and nodded, he was excited to take his wife and son to this concert.
"When is it?"
"On July first," Greg said. Rose smiled and kissed her husband again. "I can't wait!" her eyes had stars in them, Greg chuckled at his wife and smiled.
"Me too, mom! I hope we meet Chester Bennington." Steven said.
"I think we are, Steven. These are backstage passes. All I have to do is email them our address."
"Oh, for the passes?" Rose asked. Greg nodded and took his laptop that was on the couch, opened it, and emailed the station their address so he could get the backstage passes.
Steven was excited to go to New York, the only state he visited was California to see his mother's team members or his grandparents from his mom's or dad's sides or all three. Rose was excited to see her favorite band play LIVE and with her husband. She fell in love with their music when they started dating.
Steven was also excited to see them. He grew up on the band and other bands too. Like Lifehouse, which is another one of their favorite bands. The song, You and Me was played on their wedding day. Steven looked at the picture of them on their day on the wall.
Greg had a suit and tie on, and Rose had a large white dress with a star where her navel was so her gem was showing. (like the dress she wore for the gem war) Greg was holding their son for the picture, their son was only a year old in the picture. Greg stared at the picture also, They were the perfect family.
Steven continued to watch SpongeBob, but Rose tapped him on the shoulder.
"Steven, we can invite your friends, Lucas, Lance, and Mikey." Steven's eyes lit up as he smiled widely. "Really? thanks, guys, you guys are awesome!" he said, hugging both of them. Greg put a hand on his hair, Rose kissed his cheek and they both smiled at their son.
Steven was at the indoor basketball court with Lucas, Mikey, and Lance the next day, Steven was making some buckets while talking with them.
"So, your dad won backstage passes to see LINKIN PARK Live in Maddison Square Garden?" Lance asked. Steven smiles.
"Yeah! We're going on July first! which is next week! then maybe we can see my mom's teammates that live there." Steven said, shooting the ball with all his power into the hoop and making it.
"Maybe that'll be a cool idea," Lance said.
"I heard stories about your mom's teammates," Lucas said, undoing his tied-up dreads and putting them back up into a ponytail.
"Yeah! they're awesome! there's Garnet. She was the muscle, Pearl was like the strategist and the second in command of the group, and there's Ameythest, she's like the reinforcements. I think Pearl had a thing with my mom before meeting and marrying my dad. I don't know, I want to ask her but, at the same time, I don't" he said. The three boys look at Rose shooting around, Steven looks at her fly up and dunk it.
"Was she in the WNBA before meeting your dad?" Lance asked. Steven looked in confusion at his friends.
"No, just a commander for the rebellion," Steven told them, as he passed the basketball to Lance, Lance shot it into the basket.
"Oh, Steven," Lucas said.
Steven looks and nods. "I hadn't told you this or you guys but… My parents and I are moving to LA. My dad got a job offer at Cartoon Network's studio."
"Awesome!" Steven's eyes lit up into the shapes of stars, But then, he became sad.
"Wait… This means that you'll move forever and we won't be able to see each other anymore…"
Rose turned her head and overheard the boys talking.
Rose then approached them talking, Rose touched Steven's shoulder. The hybrid looked at his mom, then back at Lucas. Lucas was shocked about the news also. "When did he tell you?" Steven asked.
"Last night." there was a pause. "You know how he was looking for a new job for a while now? Well, he found a job that pays great, and his parents live in LA, so, instead of seeing them twice a year, I can see them all the time now. We're moving in the middle of July."
"Congrats, Lucas!" Rose said Steven put on a smile for a friend, but inside he was hurting. Steven wanted to do nothing but go and hide in his room. But, at the same time. Steven wants to make the last few days with his friends as memorable as possible.
Steven was in his father's van with his mother, Steven was going to a sleepover at Lucas' house, he also brought his bathing suit, so he could go swimming, Steven was excited to sleep over at his house and have fun with his friends.
Steven saw two other cars lined up by the driveway, Rose parked her husband's van, and Steven undid the seatbelt, grabbed his pink backpack, opened the door, and got out.
Rose killed the engine and walked with him to the door, Steven knocked on the door and Jasmine opened it. She was holding a cat, it has classic tabby traits with its prominent stripes and the recognizable 'M' marking on its forehead. Its eyes are alert and focused on the two people standing by the door, conveying a sense of curiosity or attentiveness. The cat was lying in Jasmine's arms.
Steven gasped and his eyes lit up, stars in his pupils, Rose had the same expression on her face as well.
"Can I pet him?" Rose and Steven both said at the same time. Jamiene smiled and giggled.
"Come inside first." Jasmine went inside the house with the cat. "What's his or her name?" Rose asked.
"Oh, we named her Diamond," she said.
"Aren't you just the most precious cat I have ever seen in my life!" Rose said, petting her fur, her fingers went into it, leaving little marks where she petted her. Steven took his hand and petted the cat's back as well. "She's so soft!" he whispered, turning to his mother. Rose grinned and giggled at her son. He loved cats as much as she did.
"Alright, Steven. I'm going to go now, bye." Rose said, kissing Steven's cheek. Steven smiled, watched her leave, and looked around the room.
"Hey, Jasmine? where's Lucas?"
"Oh, Lucas should be up in his room," she said. Steven walked up the stairs and went to his room, Steven opened the door and saw Lucas drawing. "Hey, Lucas," Steven said.
Lucas turned his head and put his pencil down, he stood up and hugged Steven, and Steven smiled.
"Lucas, did you get a cat?"
"I did, we adopted her today." he smiled, and Steven nodded. "I want a cat. And I think my mom wants one too, we are huge cat people."
"What about your dad?" Lucas asked.
"He is too, we're thinking about adopting."
"You should, this cat changed my life." Lucas smiled as his cat entered the room and jumped on his bed. Steven climbed on the bed and stared at his cat.
"She is adorable," he said, smiling. Lucas went to his closet and grabbed his bathing suit.
"I'm going to change," Lucas said, going to the bathroom, Steven went to use the guest bathroom to change also, he took off his clothes and changed, He looked at his gem and thought to himself. I wonder when will I grow… I'm sick of being so small all the time.
Steven walked out of the guest bathroom and walked back to Lucas' room, he dug into his backpack, which was on the hardwood floor, and found a bottle of sunscreen that his mom had packed him. She also packed him extra clothes and underpants.
He jumped into the pool as Drake was playing on the stereo system in the house that was connected to the speakers. Jasmine bought a Drake CD called 'So Far Gone' a few weeks ago, and she and her husband listen to him in the car.
"Lucas! let's race!"
Both Steven and Lucas went to the edge of the pool Steven put his feet on the wall and Lucas counted down.
"Five…Four…Three…Two…One…GO!" Steven and Lucas both swam to the edge, and Lucas won. He surfaced and looked for Steven but didn't find him.
"Steven!" He said, looking around. "Steven!" he said panicking this time, dunking his head back under the water, Steven was not moving, he was lying there motionless under the water, Lucas resurfaced and took a deep breath, he swam towards him and grabbed him, Lucas kicked his legs and walked up the steps, out of the pool and set him on the tile flooring.
"Steven!" Lucas shook his shoulder but nothing was happening. "MOMMA!" Lucas calls out to Jasmine, Jasmine opens the door, she has a kitchen towel in her hands. "I'm making you guys some - OH MY, STEVEN!"Jasmine rushed over. Lucas looked like he was about to burst into tears.
"How did this happen?" Jasmine asked her son.
"We were racing, and then Steven drowned!"
Thankfully, Jasmine was an EMT, so she knew what to do. She put her hands on his chest, her left one horizontally and her right one vertically, and she started chest compressions. Lucas watched his mom, for what felt like forever. Then, Steven's eyes shot open, and he sat up and started coughing violently Jasmine rubbed his back as his coughing died down. Steven looks at her and hugs her. "Thanks, Jasmine." The hybrid said. Jasmine smiles and nods.
Steven and Lucas were at the table, eating fried chicken that she made herself, SpongeBob was playing on Nickelodeon.
"I wonder how SpongeBob likes working for Nickelodeon," Lucas said, dipping his tender into a cup of ranch dressing.
"I think he loves it, like look how happy he is when he's working on the show," Jasmine said, getting into the conversation that the boys were having too.
"I think that he does," Lucas said.
"Hey, Jasmine. Can I have more water?" Steven asked. Jasmine nodded and she grabbed his glass and filled it with water from the water dispenser. She placed it near Steven. Steven smiles and continues watching the show.
"Woah! This is your game room?" Steven asked, looking around. The room was covered in hardwood floors as well as the rest of the house, Arcde machines were lined up on the walls such as Super Mario, Pac Man, and others, Steven saw a pool and foosball table in the middle of the room, A PlayStation 3 was sitting on the TV with a big screen TV sitting on the floor. A black couch was facing it, Steven looked at the games. He saw that they had Call Of Duty World At War, Sonic The Hedgehog 2006, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, and others. Steven pulled out the game that he wanted to play ejected the disc that was inside and put the one that he wanted to play inside.
Lucas switched it to the right input and they played.
Lucas and Steven went to bed in Lucas' room, Diamond was lying in between both human and hybrid. Steven closed his eyes and went to sleep.

2024.05.30 04:32 L0vey_D0vey Loving food more now!

I know this probably isn’t some big revelation but I’m loving food more now than ever before!
I only have so many calories available each day and it makes them feel like a rare currency I exchange for food. But because I have so few to “spend” I have to make every meal and snack count! I still need to hit fibeprotein/etc goals, or I’m not really losing weight responsibly in a sustainable way. So I have to “ration” them out for what I want versus what I need.
This has forced me to find ways to make getting what I “need” enjoyable!
I travel for work as well, so I need stuff I can shove in a lunchbox and hotel fridge/microwave.
My current true love is deviled eggs! They’re a low calorie protein that stores well! And I found this “old fashioned deviled egg” recipe that tastes bomb when mixed with my smoked paprika!
In fact, I’ve swapped a lot of my spices and ingredients for alternatives that honestly just taste better in general. Sure, some are a little pricier, but I was already paying an arm and a leg for junk food and airport food, so swapping to healthier stuff is actually cheaper!
Salads taste good now! I grew up where salads were kinda sad (school lunch). Just a mix of lettuce, kale, or spinach with maybe a gross ranch. But dang, a Greek salad with dressing??? That tastes sooo amazing! And as long as I make sure it all fits my daily calorie count, I’m free to (responsibly) eat to my heart’s content.
Tilapia, sushi, egg salad, sandwiches, lettuce wraps! Cook ‘em right, and season them like a medieval lord flaunting his wealth via spices and it all works!
I feel excited to eat a chicken and cashew on croissant sandwich now like I used to for canes’ chicken or Jack in the box fries! Like, I legitimately feel cravings for the healthier stuff over the junk I used to eat.
The other day, I bought one of my old favorite candies (accounted for in my calorie limit still) and was disappointed. This was what I used to go nuts for? It didn’t even taste the same. I’d have rather had more deviled eggs!
I feel that way about a LOT of foods now. Bread mostly just feels heavy. I really only eat lighter breads or use lettuce and such instead, it tastes better to me, and sits much lighter! Teas settle my stomach much better than sodas, have a lot of variety in flavor, and help curb my appetite. Sugar free juice just tastes better, I have no clue how I ever enjoyed the super sugary stuff??? Like, fruit already has sugar in it, why did we need to add more?
I’ve always loved food (that was kinda part of my problem), but I feel like I love it even more now. I appreciate what I eat, knowing it’s something good for me and how much it “costs” me calorie-wise. A fun drink is made more fun knowing I’ve rationed my calories for it, makes it feel more special! Meals at home taste better when I actually make them tasty (I know, shocker).
TLDR: I just feel like I appreciate what I’m eating more now, when I’m actually eating less!
How about you guys? Find any fun recipes and/or foods during your weight loss journey? Have a preferred snack/meal now? How do you all feel about food and eating while dieting/changing your diet?

2024.05.30 01:23 ThatSpyGuy Dan-O's Seasoning and Other Online Influencer Seasoning Blends or Sauces

I haven't seen this topic brought up on this sub in a while, so I thought perhaps it was worth a re-visit.
What are your thoughts on influencer created/promoted/marketed seasoning blends or sauces? There are a multitude of moderately popular Tik-Tok creators (and YouTubers) with their own proprietary condiments available for purchase. A couple that come to mind are:
I am noticing as I type this that these are primarily southern US oriented products. I am from Texas, so the algorithm may have me biased on this topic!
My Thoughts:
Of course, most of these spice blends are going to be principally composed of salt (and sugar), along with the obligatory garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, etc. Culinarily, using a spice blend containing a quantity of salt that is not entirely clear can be a recipe for over or under seasoning. However, I feel that a tasty spice blend can serve as a convenience, once you understand how much salt it carries, allowing for quick late-night meals. Just season the chicken and cook it!
I am curious what the greater cooking community thinks of these spice blends, particularly those marketed by influencers. Personally, I have only tried Dan-O's which, unfortunately, I found to be far to cumin-heavy for my taste. Though I did like the citrus peel and the low additional salt.

2024.05.29 23:51 FifiDogForever Urgent: Need advice/help with a surrender

I need help finding a home for this beautiful boy. Axel is a neutered, 3 year old husky/GSD. He loves people and other dogs. He has recently been deemed a dangerous dog in our municipality as he killed a neighbors cat. We cannot safely keep him with the limitations of our HOA, and we are having a hard time finding a rescue who will accept an animal who has killed another domesticated pet. He is so smart and sweet, knows several commands. He needs a home without cats or other small animals like rabbits or chickens as we now know he has a high prey drive. He needs a high fence and would make a great ranch dog. He has successfully lived with a child as young as 10 and a medium sized dog. He is fully housebroken and is an amazing companion animal and smart enough to be a working dog. If you know of a rescue anywhere in the US that can help, I am willing to take him. I don’t want to see such an amazing animal be put down. Please DM me with any resources or advice. Thank you!
