2024.05.19 07:06 Doppe1herz New owner here!

After much debate and research I want to thank this community for helping me decide on joining the club. Everyone here has been so helpful. It’s a 2017 and I’ve a few questions and concerns. Now it’s obviously used with only 40,000 miles. But I’m starting to noticed things I didn’t notice right away. First off it’s missing the rear headrests. Strange but I suppose I could live without them. They seem like they would block most of the rear window anyway. But should I decide to look for replacements where’s a good place to start? There’s also a small triangular quarter panel just behind the side mirror that is watered pretty bad and nearly coming off. The dealer did include the replacement but not sure if I could just pry off the old one and snap on the new one. It looks that way. I wish I knew how to post pictures here. It almost seems like there’s some kind of insert missing from the cup holder. I can see some kind of bolt g up from the bottom of where you would set your cup. Seems like there’s should be some kind of thin cover for that. Again wish I knew how to post pictures. The handle to lift rear hatch feels loose. Is this just the way they all feel or do I need to fix this? The carpeted cover that sits just behind the rear seat to “hide” stuff in the trunk from being seen from the outside appears to have been folded in half creasing it down the middle and now no longer clips into place. Where can I find a replacement one of these? After hearing about the 12V batteries dying out on these older cars, how can I tell if my 12V battery needs to be replaced? When I asked the dealer they said they couldn’t tell how old the battery was but that they are tested when they sell them. And lastly the one thing that bothers me the most is the inlet where you plug in is cracked! I’m thinking maybe it was locked onto a charger and someone tried to force it off breaking the plastic around the inlet port, does the 500e even lock the cables in place like other EVs? I was thankfully able to charge but the connector is loose and I did have to wiggle it a bit before it was connected properly to start charging. And before anyone suggests the mopar site, I already looked there and it doesn’t really have anything other than decals and some touch up paint. Any and all advice is welcome. Maybe if anyone has and tips on what to look for as far as anyone else important on the car? Thanks in advance

2024.05.19 07:06 thedowntownpcguy Is James Allison actually not as good as we thought he would be?

I mean, it confuses me to be honest.

On the one hand, he's got some good stuff on cars he was spearheading development & worked as lead director in such as the 2005-06 Renault, 2012-13 Lotus, and 03-04 F2004s, he's also produced shitboxes like the F14T & 2016 Ferrari - while also being one of the minds behind the innovative DAS system.

How has he, with a full year of work and all changes - new direction & concept not been able to remedy a single issue of the Mercedes? It's like they have taken a step back. Or is it that James Allison is just overrated?

I mean, I'm not expecting any silver bullets, but an improvement in one or the other part, either a stronger rear, better consistency, faster straight line speed, nothing at all has gotten better.
Moreover, to all those saying that for F2004 he was just 'part' of the team, and not the lead, he was the Chief Aerodynamicist, not just a lowly junior, and for Alonso's championship-winning 2005-06 he was the Deputy TD for that as well. I mean, even worked out of a small budget for the 2012-13 Lotus as well! The guy surely knows how to build good cars.
It's strange how as an aerodynamicist, he is struggling in the aero-focused era as well.
Also, another question - Merc's simulation troubles - how come they have suddenly had it after 2021? They used the same stuff back in the days as well, as now too. Moreover, how difficult is it really to change up the software? Considering they found this bug in '22, a change by now would've been possible isn't it?
It baffles me to be honest, how McLaren started off as a midfielder in 2022 and is now a race-winning and possible title contender, while it's PU supplier is languishing in no man's land and closer to Haas and Racing Bulls than to Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull.

Would love your views on it.

2024.05.19 07:05 Economy_Proof_7668 Spider Likely Hiding in Car Interior somewhere; car is used for Rideshare Driving, how to eradicate safely?

I believe a spider is hiding somewhere in my car interior. I saw it crawl into the cracked open rear window, but I was unsure if it may have jumped out already... In any case, I do some rideshare driving. I cannot have a spider crawl out onto a passenger because it would likely end my rideshare income. What are some possible ways to eradicate it, if it is there? Can one fog bomb a car interior? I have vacuumed and used compressed air beneath the seats. Saw nothing. I'd like to fog-bomb it if that's practically possible.

2024.05.19 07:00 Moochi_The_Mad_Cat Discussion about breaking system......and seeking opinion about putting 2 brake calipers 1 disc?

Prologue :
So let's talk about breaks today. I'm a member of an Indian FS team and we failed the break test in our last competition. There are a few factors we considered why that happened:
but the thing was during our testing before event, in our college campus, the breaks were locking consistently but those test were on wet tyres and it slipped our mind the dry tyres will obviously behave differently.
Further Investigation :
so after all this i came to a conclusion that we cannot trust our tyres. Doing the calculations after taking highest recommended values for tractive force/contact friction b/w tyres and track (rolling frictional coeffi. of 1.5-6) just to make sure that in any track condition our theory won't fail because of unpredictable tyre behavior.
The domino effect :
with this new assumption we found out that our front wheels will never lock with the current setup of our break system. Now the new problem was to find new calipers that can fulfill our needs. We have been using Vespa KBX break calipers for both front and rear, the specs of these calipers are very similar to the willwoods GP200 calipers at a fraction of the cost. But now we had to look for 4 piston calipers for front (Vespa didn't cause any problem at the rear) and the only options i could find for 10" rims were 4 piston calipers by AP racing and ISR brakes. Both of them had excellent results in calculation but the price tag of both of them were way out of our budget.
and a month back our vehicle had an accident when our driver decided to perform break test, the speed was a little higher than expected, the rear locked successfully but the front didn't and the driver lost control causing the car to spin out and hit a tree.
Yup now it's a critical failure.
A radical idea :
I want to put 2 calipers on each of the front disc and i need as many fresh opinions i can get. If i use 2 Vespa calipers on each front wheel the i get almost same performance i would have gotten from 4 piston ISR or AP calipers, again at a fraction of the cost.
Nothing major will change during the design process i think, and i can't confirm it but i think placing 2 calipers diagonally will lead to even distribution of stresses as compared to using 4 piston but it might have a completely opposite effect cuz in case of 4 piston the disc will have "some" time to cool off before coming in contact with pads and in 2 caliper configuration that'll not be the case. would love to hear your thoughts on this.
some vehicles do use dual caliper configuration but the purpose differs, some manufacturers use 2nd caliper as parking breaks but a few use them for active breaking.
I accept that the brake line might became a mess but that shouldn't cause any issues in the functioning of the brakes.
This seem like the best possible solution given the constraints we have but my team seniors don't support the idea and they can't argue with my logic and that has made me even more confused.
Help me please! I might be missing something and i want your opinion on this. please share your thoughts and lets discuss it.
TLDR:
Front wheels not locking, current 2 piston caliper won't work for the front, 4 piston calipers needed but way over budget, using two of 2 piston calipers give same results as the 4 piston calipers, please share your opinions on why the heck will this not work.

What is the purpose of canted iron sights?

Canted iron sights are designed to provide a more accurate aiming point for the user, especially when using tactical shooting techniques. They help to improve overall accuracy and minimize the need for additional accessories or modifications to the gun.

What types of canted iron sights are available?

There are two main types of canted iron sights: front canted and rear canted. Front canted sights are mounted on the front of the slide, while rear canted sights are mounted on the rear of the weapon. Both options offer similar accuracy benefits for the user.

What benefits do canted iron sights offer?

Canted iron sights offer several advantages, including improved accuracy, faster target acquisition, and enhanced tactical capabilities. By providing a more natural and consistent sight alignment, users can maintain their focus on the target and perform better under pressure.

What firearms are compatible with canted iron sights?

Canted iron sights are compatible with a wide range of firearms, including handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The specific model and design of the firearm will determine the compatibility of the canted iron sights. Consult with the manufacturer for specific compatibility information.

How do I install canted iron sights?

Installing canted iron sights will vary depending on the specific model and firearm. Generally, you will need to remove any existing iron sights, attach the new canted iron sights to the appropriate location on the firearm, and then secure them in place with any necessary hardware. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation and safety.

Do canted iron sights require any additional adjustments?

Canted iron sights do require some initial adjustments to achieve proper functionality. You will need to ensure that the sight aligns properly with the bore axis and that the user's eye is properly aligned with the sight. Adjustment may include sighting in and aligning the canted sight with the user's dominant eye. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for specific adjustment guidelines.

2024.05.19 06:56 WHOLLY_GUACAMOLE Water bottle incident

So this happened about 12 years ago in 2012, and I still think about it from time to time.
I came home from the gym one evening. I had a black stool with a curved seat (that fits the curve of your butt) by the door. I come in, and I set my water bottle down and went to use the restroom. When I come back out the hair on the back of my neck rises.
The water bottle was placed on the stool cap side down. This is like one of those Crystal Geyser water bottles, and you all know it takes concerted effort to balance the bottle on the cap. Especially on a stool with slight curvature.
I am mostly sure I did not do that, intentionally anyway. But isn’t that a pretty slim chance to have it balance on the cap side down if I was just setting it down without thinking?
Background- I lived in a studio apartment in Los Angeles. I always felt weird vibes in the place, and I had too many sleep paralysis events to count.

2024.05.19 06:53 NaturoHope Considering switching over from Shopify to WordPress

I'm having difficulty getting Shopify do what I want to do, visually speaking. I have never built a store in WordPress, but I have used Elementor, and find it a lot simpler to use. I also find Shopify prohibitively expensive at around $40 per month.
My greatest concern is whether I would lose important backend capabilities. Shopify is built for sellers, no question about it. Adding apps is easy. Adding photos and descriptions to products is easy. Watching the charts and numbers from my computer or my phone is really easy, including gross sales, number of clicks per time period, and number of "Add to Cart"s. And I like that I will never have to deal with backend technical issues.
And yet, today I couldn't even figure out how customize the color of my buy button with the Crave theme. Maybe it's not possible or requires CSS or a different theme. Perhaps more frustratingly, I can't figure out to how fine-tune the visual experience for both desktop and mobile users. This is a breeze in Elementor!
Maybe I'm getting stuck on trivial things, but my store is pretty new and I want to ensure that I'm setting it up for success. Do I stay on Shopify for right now or consider switching over to WordPress...?

2024.05.19 06:52 Seraph_Malakai [Routine Help] If sunlight helps my KP, does that mean a Vitamin D supplement will help as well?

I have KP on my upper arms and legs, but my arms are the main problem. I've tried exfoliating lotions and toners and I saw no improvement. The only difference I've seen is when I started using an African exfoliating net, but even then, the difference is minimal.
Over time I noticed that the KP on my left arm was much more faint and had almost no bumps when I felt it, but the KP on my right arm had more than twice the amount of red spots that were darker and had way more bumps. I couldn't figure out why until I realised that every time I'm in a car, I'm always in the passenger seat with my left arm out the window, in direct sunlight. I've heard that sunlight has helped people with their KP before, but the risks aren't worth it for me. If sunlight helps my KP, would a Vitamin D supplement work as well? Or do those two treatments work for different reasons? Would something like red light therapy help if my KP responds to light?

2024.05.19 06:52 StayWhile_Listen Rear diff amount leeway?

So I did my trans and rear diff. The first time I had it done at a shop and I just crossed 122k Km so I decided to do it myself.
The transmission went well - I filled it to spec, it shows a little over but apparently that's expected.
Now for the rear diff - I tried to jack the car up and make it all even (given different jack stands, a sligjtly sloped garage floor, etc. I also raised the diff a bit with the jack just in case.
Anyone know what the leeway for the amounts is? I used up about 950ml of gear oil but I had a spill.+ Some came out of the fill hole.
So it's probably at the 0.8qt that is needed...but I guess I just won't know until I drive...
I guess we'll find out!
Also, a tip: I couldn't fit my big breaker bar so I ended up having to use a bunch of penetrant and then use the jack on the wrench.

2024.05.19 06:49 Think_Category713 Bye Bye Club Vistara - HUGE (Trump-style) devaluation of CV Status

Ok so here's the rant after a LOT of research.
Having been a loyal Vistara customer for years, the email from CV feels like a break-up text from your girlfriend who is about to get married to someone else - "main hamesha tumhari dost rahoongi" :D :D
So here's a lowdown of what's going to change. Club Vistara had already revised the tier renewal criteria in March 24 (disappointment but ok given explosion in travel), but that is nowhere near what Air India's Flying Returns asks for, or gives you back in return.
Here's for Gold Tier:
Club Vistara Flying Returns
Tier Points Required 15,000 (no min flights) 30,000 (OR 60 <- that's right 60 flights with at least 8 on AI)
Upgrade Vouchers 3 2 (33% downside)
Upgrade Vouchers on Tier upgrade 2 NIL
Tier Points for Rs. 100 spend 10 6 (40% downside - biggest downgrade for CV Gold!)
Reward/CV Points for Rs. 100 spend 10 9 (10% downside)
Other privileges are pretty much same - Air India gives you 20kg extra baggage allowance in the Gold Tier but if you're expected to fly 5 times a month on business trips (an era of Zoom and Teams meetings), what use is it unless you are smuggling gold.
And if you're flying enough to be in the Platinum tier (90 flights), suggest you ask your company to get a private jet, if not, they should be making you fly Indigo or Spice because of the dent you're making in their bottomline.
The sad part is that there is no full service competition or loyalty programme for Vistara or Air India to bother about (read Jet), and in a country where the food standards authority would rather change the criteria for carcinogenicity rather than enforce food quality, all you can do is grin and bear it.
Long story short, for CV members, enjoy the last few months of this courtship - travel as much as you can and enjoy the privileges!

2024.05.19 06:48 Travelxyz Invisible disabilities and accommodations in public spaces

I am someone who has multiple disabilities, which can be seen as invisible at times. I suffer from complex vestibular migraines as well as the classic form. The vestibular migraines can impact my balance, create mental fog/confusion (forgetting where I am for a moment), and a plethora of other symptoms. I also have certain physical disabilities which I do hide to a degree simply out of shame at times I suppose. I’m working on it. My question is do other people who have disabilities that the typical onlooker can’t identify use accessible seating at concerts?
I board plane early due to my disabilities and even got a special lanyard when I lived in the UK which discretely tells staff you can board first and may need additional assistance. It’s honestly a wonderful solution to avoid rude questions. In a French airport I was forced into a wheelchair despite explaining that I could walk. It was embarrassing for me mostly because it was a hassle for my travel partner who had to wheel me around. I even speak enough French to tell them it was unnecessary. Anyway that experience honestly made me more hesitant to ask for help when I need it in public spaces, but I still want to be able to go out and enjoy things. I know certain personal accommodations I can make but I know seating is critical. I often get dizzy and lose my balance. For me it’s very dangerous to fall due to hyper mobility and a tendency for things to pop out of place.
Anyway I sometimes feel like an imposter needing accommodations in public spaces or for events like concerts or sporting matches. How do you deal with this? Do you just ask about accessible seating?
I’d appreciate any insight as someone who is struggling to find ways to enjoy my late twenties doing activities I know I get joy from but in a safe manner where I don’t put myself in a migraine triggering situation.
Thanks (so for the rambling)!!

I recently took my Canon camera on a snorkeling trip to Hawaii, and it was nothing short of amazing. With the Canon Waterproof Underwater Case WP-DC40 (S60/70), I didn't have to worry about water damage and could take stunning photos at depths up to 130 feet. The case's intuitive controls allowed me to capture every breathtaking underwater moment with ease.
One of the standout features was the accessibility of all camera buttons and knobs. This made it incredibly user-friendly, even for someone like me who isn't a professional photographer. The seal also proved to be reliable, with no leaks even during my 102-foot dives.
On the downside, the sunlight through the water occasionally made it difficult to see the screen, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. Overall, the Canon Waterproof Underwater Case was a fantastic addition to my camera gear, and I can't imagine traveling without it now.

🔗Underwater Case for Canon PowerShot SD700 IS

https://preview.redd.it/16fwlqfmcb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2115cf11c0fdd7b2ee66827f503942253091c91d
As a photography enthusiast, I recently discovered the Canon WP-DC5 Waterproof Case. I've been taking my Canon PowerShot SD700 IS digital camera everywhere, and this underwater case has been a lifesaver. The case is designed to protect my camera from sea water and sand, which means I don't have to worry about damaging it while exploring the underwater world.
Its reliability and ease of use are truly impressive. Using it underwater was a breeze, and it opened up new shooting possibilities that I never thought were possible with a regular camera case. With its help, I've been able to capture stunning underwater photos at depths of up to 130 feet, even on my first dive.
The highlights of this product are its ability to protect your camera from harsh underwater environments and its ease of use. However, it's essential to take care of the lens port and keep the camera open when not in use to maintain the seals. Additionally, some users might experience issues with water droplets on the port affecting their shots.
Overall, the Canon WP-DC5 Waterproof Case has been a game-changer for me. It has allowed me to explore the underwater world without worrying about damaging my camera. Its reliability, ease of use, and ability to capture high-quality underwater photos make it a must-have for any adventurous photographer.

🔗Waterproof Case for Canon Digital Cameras

I recently had the chance to use Canon's WP-DC27 Waterproof Case for my underwater photography explorations. As an avid scuba diver and photographer, finding a reliable case to protect my camera was crucial. The Canon WP-DC27 didn't disappoint. It provides excellent protection against water, sand, and dust, making it accessible for photographers who want to capture dynamic shots in various environments.
The ease of use was one of the highlights of this product. Its compact design and secure seals made the camera easy to load and unload, even with my hands covered in scuba diving gloves. The clear front panel allowed for easy access to the camera's controls, such as adjusting white balance and toggling shooting modes.
On the downside, I did find that the lens port wasn't threaded to accept additional lenses like macro or wide-angle options. While this isn't a deal-breaker for basic scuba diving and snorkeling, it may be disappointing for photographers looking for more flexibility in their shots.
In conclusion, Canon's WP-DC27 Waterproof Case is a reliable and user-friendly option for photographers on-the-go and exploring different terrains. Its durability and ease of use make it a worthwhile investment for those looking to capture their adventures to the fullest without worrying about their camera's wellbeing.

🔗Ikelite Underwater Housing for Canon PowerShot G9/G9 Mark II

https://preview.redd.it/udytcu6ncb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d676d4ebca17661e72c11c73701613601770014
I recently got my hands on the Ikelite Underwater Action Housing for my Canon PowerShot G9 X camera, and let me tell you, it has been a game-changer for my underwater photography adventures! With its ability to capture high-quality video and still images at depths up to 200 feet beneath the surface, this compact, lightweight housing has made exploring the depths of oceans and lakes a whole new experience.
One of the standout features of this action housing is its scratch-resistant glass lens port. This ensures full use of the camera's zoom range without any vignetting, giving me super-clear shots even in the most challenging underwater environments. Additionally, the front of the port accepts press-on color-correcting filters and is 67mm threaded for attaching optional accessories, which further enhances the versatility of my underwater photography setup.
Another feature I absolutely love is the custom ABS-PC blend housing with acetyl controls. This material provides strength, UV protection, and fundamentally corrosion-free performance, making it perfect for withstanding the harsh underwater conditions. Plus, its light gray/white color on the front, sides, top, and bottom contrasts with the clear back, making it easy for me to monitor the O-ring seal and rear camera controls at a glance.
The built-in, flat, optical glass lens port with a 3-inch diameter is another highlight. It allows attachment of optional, accessory wide-angle and macro conversion lenses as well as color-correction filters, giving me the flexibility to capture the perfect shot in any underwater environment.
However, there is one downside to this action housing – it lacks a strobe connector and access to the camera's flash. While quality photos are still possible with an optional constant light source at any depth or with available sunlight down to about 60 feet, I would have appreciated more connectivity options for even greater creative control.
In summary, the Ikelite Underwater Action Housing has made exploring the depths of oceans and lakes an unforgettable experience. Its scratch-resistant glass lens port, custom ABS-PC blend housing, and compatibility with various accessories make it a top choice for avid underwater photographers. While it may not have the most advanced features and lacks a strobe connector, the overall quality and performance are worth considering for anyone looking to take their underwater photography skills to the next level.

🔗Ikelite Underwater Housing for Canon EOS M10 (200 ft Depth Rating)

https://preview.redd.it/xfhi7alncb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a65c50db977323c6d7cfbc0941dccf4d2ba590cf
Ikelite's Underwater Housing for Canon EOS M10 is like a trusty, waterproof companion for my beloved camera. It's more than capable of keeping up with my adventurous spirit, offering a depth rating of 200 ft (60m).
The controls on this housing are impressive, allowing me to access all my camera's functions except for the Mobile Device Connection button. A slight negative buoyancy in fresh water means I don't have to worry about it floating away.
But it's not all perfect. The actual buoyancy can vary depending on the lens and port I choose, which can be a bit of a pain. Also, the 1/4-20 thread tray mounting with 3-inch (76mm) spacing is a bit limiting if you're looking for more versatile mounting options.
All in all, Ikelite's housing has been a game-changer for my underwater photography adventures. It's made capturing those magical moments much easier and more enjoyable.

🔗Nauticam Canon EOS R5 Underwater Housing

https://preview.redd.it/50jo9pzncb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02d3c552bf4f6ac647e4791434169055702b8906
I recently had the opportunity to use the Nauticam Underwater Housing for my Canon EOS R5. This housing follows Nauticam's innovative approach, offering compatibility with both EOS R lenses and native RF optics using an adapter. The dimensions of the housing are 357mm x 200mm x 161mm (W x H x D), and it has a depth rating of 100m. It weighs 3.5kg in air, but becomes slightly lighter at -0.5kg in water when including the camera body and battery. The port area is of the N120 type.
One of the standout features for me was its portability. Even with my Canon EOS R5 securely tucked inside, the housing felt sturdy and reliable. It's evident that a lot of thought has gone into the design, making it incredibly user-friendly.
However, there were a few cons to consider. While the housing is generally well-built, the included torque screws for the port attachment feel a bit delicate. Additionally, the integrated vacuum system, though a useful feature, can be a bit sensitive to pressure changes and occasionally needs resetting.
Overall, the Nauticam Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS R5 provided excellent protection and control for my camera while underwater. Despite some minor drawbacks, I would recommend this product to any Canon users looking to take their photography skills below the surface.

Buyer's Guide

Choosing the right Canon underwater camera case can be essential, whether for professional photography or casual photography while exploring the depths. This guide will inform you of the crucial factors to consider prior to making your decision in order to equip you with the ideal underwater camera case for your needs.

1. Type of Underwater Activity

Underwater housings are designed to cater to different activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, or surf photography. For example, some cases are suitable for deep-sea diving whilst others could be for surface water sports. Hence, it is essential to consider the type of underwater photography you're likely to engage in for you to choose the appropriate housing.

https://preview.redd.it/sh75v0focb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fad980e157c19999435345c4a1039d7e6ebb8da

2. Depth Rating

The depth rating of a case indicates the maximum depth it can withstand without water seeping into the camera. This detail is critical as it ensures the camera stays protected at your desired depth. If you're primarily shooting above water while surfboard, a low depth rating would suffice. However, for professional divers, a high depth rating camera case would be more appropriate.

3. Lens Compatibility

Lens compatibility could restrict your choices. Some underwater camera cases are compatible with wide-angle lenses, others with standard lenses. Depending on your photography requirements, you should choose a case that fits your preferred lens.

4. Ease of Use

Underwater photography often involves quick action. Hence, it’s necessary to select a model that allows simple and swift movement, particularly during those crucial underwater moments. Features such as ergonomic handling, easy-to-use buttons, and controls would be beneficial for smooth photography sessions.

https://preview.redd.it/znofdi3pcb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89b5db13a784c1cddccb61eb14123707c9e6a1bc

5. Durability

The durability of the underwater camera cases is another crucial factor to consider. High-quality polycarbonate materials or aluminum bodies are known for their robustness and long-lasting performance. Ensure you select a case designed to withstand the rigors of your photography activities.

6. Price Range

Underwater camera cases can vary significantly in price. The cost is often dependent on factors such as complexity of design, type of materials used, and additional features. While it’s vital to invest in a high-quality case, ensure that you only pay for what you need by prioritizing the features that are most essential for your photography style.

7. Brand Reputation

The credibility and reputation of the brand can be a strong indication of the quality and reliability of the product. Make sure to choose a reputable brand known for producing high-quality waterproof camera housings.
By taking these considerations into account, you will be well-equipped to choose the ideal Canon underwater camera case to suit your specific photography needs.

FAQ

How deep can a Canon underwater camera case go?

The depth rating varies depending on the specific model and brand of the underwater camera case. Generally, Canon underwater camera cases can withstand depths between 150 to 200 feet (approximately 45 to 60 meters). It's crucial to check the product's specifications to ensure it meets your needs for the depth of water you plan to explore.

Which Canon camera models are compatible with these underwater camera cases?

Almost all the Canon PowerShot series and some EOS DSLR and mirrorless models are compatible with Canon underwater camera cases. Popular models include the PowerShot G7 X Mark III, G5 X Mark II, SX70 HS, and the EOS 90D. Please refer to Canon's compatibility chart for the specific model you own or consider purchasing.

https://preview.redd.it/8y90bswpcb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f80cdaea7c4679965ed8ae114021c09e180ef8fb

Can I use my Canon camera in a generic underwater camera case?

While it is possible to use a generic underwater camera case for some Canon camera models, it is highly recommended to use the original Canon underwater camera case designed specifically for your camera model. This ensures proper fit, functionality, and protection for your camera, ultimately extending its lifespan.

How do I clean and maintain my Canon underwater camera case?

After each use, rinse the case thoroughly with clean water and thoroughly dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using any solvents or abrasive cleaners. Keep the seals and O-ring clean and free of sand or grit. Lubricate the O-ring with a silicone lubricant occasionally to ensure a tight seal. Regularly inspect the case for wear, damage, or accumulated debris.

What is the best setting to use on my Canon camera when shooting underwater?

Using the underwater shooting mode (typically designated as "UW" or "sea") is often recommended, as it optimizes the camera settings for shooting in low-light, minimizing backscattering, and increasing color reproduction. Additionally, ensure that you shoot in RAW format to have greater flexibility in post-processing.

How do I ensure a leak-free seal on my Canon underwater camera case?

Before each dive or use, inspect the seals and O-ring for any wear, damage, or accumulated debris. Clean the seals and O-ring thoroughly and apply a silicone lubricant. Secure all latches on the case, ensuring they are fully engaged. Perform a "vacuum test" by submerging the case in a shallow pool or tub of water, and inspect for any visible water or bubbles after about 10 minutes. If everything is dry, your case is properly sealed. Always double-check the seals and latches before every dive or use.

What is the difference between a DSLR and a mirrorless Canon underwater camera case?

The primary differences between a DSLR and mirrorless Canon underwater camera case are their size, weight, and controls. DSLR underwater camera cases tend to be larger and heavier, provide more physical controls, and accommodate interchangeable lenses, offering more flexibility for advanced photographers. In contrast, mirrorless underwater camera cases are more compact, have fewer physical controls, but often yield higher image quality relative to the camera size.

How do I prevent fogging inside the Canon underwater camera case?

Before diving or shooting underwater, put a silica gel desiccant packet or anti-fog gel on the inside of the lens port. This helps absorb any moisture and prevent fogging. Make sure the camera, lens, and case are at the same temperature as your surroundings before sealing the case. When changing lenses, ensure the camera is dry and free of any moisture. Avoid touching any lens elements or the interior lens port, as body oils and moisture can cause fogging.

Can I use third-party strobes with my Canon underwater camera case?

Yes, you can use third-party strobes with some Canon underwater camera cases. However, compatibility depends on the model of your case and the specific strobe. Some strobes may require a dedicated adapter or sync cord to connect to the camera, so it's essential to consult the manufacturer's guidelines for proper installation and compatibility.

Shimano Di2 8150 can't change manuel mode
I have canyon speedmax that I bought last year and didn't use it for the last 4-5 months and when I tried to use it the di2 derailleur was in manual mode for what I understood.
I have found I can switch mode and switch mode and go for a ride but after 10 minutes it looks like the derailleur was back in manuel mode only the rear derailleur work.
I try again to change mode but the blue dot does not work again. The derailleur just go in Bluetooth mode or adjust mode.
I than install the etube app and update the firmware but I realized the front derailleur is not shown in the app and I can't see to change the mode for the front derailleur.
I'm just confused what I can do it's just frustrating.
Is anyone has that kind of problem or has an idea what I can do?
I read online that I can reset by unplugging the battery but I prefer simpler solution and want to be sure it's the solution before doing this.
I read online that I can plug it to a PC but it need a 500$ connector.

I’ve had the luxury of being able to see many different business models by working for a P.E agency. I will share some businesses I saw and you can do what you want with that info

1 - $100M a year self cooling bedsheet brand

When I tell you self cooling bedsheets had the highest revenue I’ve seen of any ecom store I am not exaggerating. It was f*cking baffling how much money these mfs were making by selling self cooling bedsheets.
The craziest part is that they did it all thru paid ads. I was stunned looking at the backend of the Shopify account and seeing these numbers. The reason a product like self cool bedsheets works so well is because of a few things:
A) Broad TAM (total addressable market) This means they can sell to a broader range of people. The more people you can sell to for e com the better.
Their AOV (average order value) was $110 as well. So not only are they targeting a broad audience, but they have really good margins
I think another reason why this product / brand is doing so well is because of timing as well. They exited in 2018, but really blew up during 2020 when everyone was home.
F it I’ll name drop. They’re called Miracle brand. Go study their LP and ads. Their LP is really high converting like 5-7%. Their offer is amazing (3 free towels with your bedsheets) and the CRO is fully optimized.

2 - subscription based Digital Assets

This one is really good, but super niche. The company basically sells digital editing assets that go with editing software like Davinci, IMovie, and whatever other editing softwares there are
They have 100% profit margins on the product and they offer a subscription. Their AOV is $60 per month and people actually subscribe because they know that these digital assets are really really good and it will save them time when editing. They were doing $2-$3M per year in revenue on a 100% margin product which is now offered as a subscription. I believe the overall margins on the business was like 70-80% they had low overhead.
These mfs are absolutely PRINTING. It’s not easy to make really good digital editing assets either so it’s hard to replicate. The #1 thing when buying or selling a business is margins. Their business if an easily be sold for 7-9x because of big margins, big AOV, and the MRR (monthly recurring revenue). On average businesses sell for 3-6x in the DTC (direct to consumer) e commerce space, but when you add a subscription model and it’s a digital product, you double the valuation of your company
Like I said, I am just sharing business models I’ve seen that were absolutely amazing!

3 - Sticker company

This one I think surprised me the most. These guys were selling a subscription for you to get a pack of custom anime stickers every single month.
Yup, you get high quality anime stickers every single month. This business wasn’t doing $1M but they did take in 6-figs. The reason this model is smart is because the margins are really good. It only costs like $0.50 USD to make a full pack of these custom stickers and you add $3-$4 for shipping. Their AOV was like $25-$30.
I think this business worked well because it caters to a strong fan base of people who love anime. Personally I like avatar and one piece but there’s a lot of anime super fans who would love to subscribe to a sticker club that sends you a custom pack of cool stickers of your favorite anime. Not sure how the legal side of it worked.
Comment what you think, and let me know if you have any questions. Half of these business models were very surprising and to this day it’s hard to believe that they work so well.
Feel free to also share good business models you’ve seen. There’s a lot more I can share but these stand out the most

2024.05.19 06:43 NotYourAverageBot2 Candles

As the morning sun finally breaks through the night I am already getting dressed for my first day of second grade. As I’m struggling to button up my white collar shirt my dad walks into the room.
“You getting ready for school champ?” He asks me, clearly proud of how grown I looked.
“You betcha Dad!” I exclaimed as a wide smile beamed across my face,
Dad bent down and helped me finish buttoning my shirt.
“So…” he started asking, “what’s the plan for today? You know,” he paused trying to find the right words, “so you don’t have another one of those outbursts?”
These “outbursts” as Dad called them weren’t really outbursts. I’d had outbursts before but these were different. I’ve only had a handful of these breakdowns but they were the worst thing I’d ever experienced. It felt almost like someone was clawing into my skull. The pain was almost unbearable. Then there were the voices… ugh, I shuddered thinking about the voices.
It was because of these outbursts that we had to move cities. They were so bad I was kicked out of every school in Saint Louis.
Now that we moved to my crazy old grandmother’s house in Maryland, my parents were hoping I’d grow out of the breakdowns. They had tried everything they could to “fix” me but to no prevail. No matter how many doctors or therapists I went to none of them could ever find out what was wrong with me. It made me feel hopeless like I was doomed to be the weird kid for the rest of my life.
I still remember my 6th birthday all too well. I had invited every kid in my class to my party and was so excited to have people over.
You see, I had never had a real friend before and I was hoping by having people over at my house I could finally make one. That’s how dumb of a thought process I had in kindergarten. Now that I was in second grade I realized that wasn’t how the world worked. When it came time to have my party no one except my older brother Nathan and my older sister Jess showed up.
“I’m sorry Weston.” I remember Nathan saying, “Maybe next year you’ll have friends.”
Nathan didn’t mean that in a mean way but it sure felt like that. That year when I blew out my candles all I wished for was a single friend, a friend whom I could talk to, a friend whom I could play with and laugh with, a friend who cared about me.
But like most wishes, it never came true. And now here I am ready to reinvent myself and ready to try again. Hopefully, things were different in Baltimore, hopefully the kids were nicer.
“I’ll try not to freak out again Dad.” I finally replied to him as he finished tying my navy blue tie around my neck. “I promise.”
“I know you will Westy. I know. Just please try to take deep breaths like the kind therapist told you to.”
“Dad,” I said longingly, “I told you those silly techniques don’t work.”
“They worked for me.” My older sister Jess said as she walked into the room and sat on my bed, “I used to have the same outbursts happen to me.” She paused, “Matter of fact, the feelings never go away, you just learn to mask them.” She looked at Dad, “That’s just what the Man does to you.
“Jessica!” My dad scolded, “Stop scaring your brother. It’s his first day after all.”
“Weston.” He said turning to me, “Don’t listen to her. Do you understand me?”
I nodded submissively,
Dad turned and walked out of the room leaving me and Jess to finish getting ready.
“He doesn’t get it Westy.” She said to me once she knew he was out of earshot, “But just so you know it gets worse when he visits you again.”
“Again?” I replied in horror, “Jess you’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I’m not I swear Weston. Now normally I wouldn’t be telling you this at your age but you seem pretty mature so I think you can handle it.”
She was wrong, I couldn’t handle it.
"Weston, Jess!” My dad yelled from the kitchen, “Time for school!”
I arrived at school in my dad’s big, grey, Chevy Silverado and hopped down on the curb. I waved goodbye to my dad while Jess grabbed my hand and walked me to my classroom.
Ever since mom died, Jess has stepped up to be the motherly figure in my life though never fully replacing my mom. My mom was a beautiful woman with brown chestnut-colored locks of curly hair and beautiful blue eyes as pale but vibrant as the ocean on a cloudy day. I loved my mom but ever since the Man first showed up at our doorstep she was never quite the same. After the incident with the Man, she turned into a hollow shell of a person. Until, until she’d had enough.
It was right after my 6th birthday when the Man came. Maybe he was the answer to my birthday wish. In some ways, I guess he was. It was raining that day. I can still hear the pitter patter of the raindrops hitting the pavement outside my house when all of a sudden there was a knock on my door. I ran to open it, having not been able to sense danger at such a naive age, and was surprised when a tall man wearing an all-black attire stood there staring at me. When my mom saw who it was from the kitchen she immediately dropped the knife in her hand and started running toward me but not before the Man grabbed me by the shoulder and yanked me out the door. I remember being frozen in fear, not sure whether to cry or scream. I ended up doing nothing. The man shoved me into the back seat of his car and drove off as my mom came running down the driveway. I couldn’t tell if she was crying or if it was just the rain rolling down her face but I remember wondering whether or not I’d ever see her again.
I think about this now as I walked up the steps into the elementary school with my sister’s hand in mine. Once we reach the outside of my classroom, I turn and stare at my sister.
“I don’t wanna go in there,” I said, my anxiety acting up again,
“Come on Weston,” She replied, “I’m sure it will be fine.”
I usually trusted my sister when it came to stuff like this but this time it felt different, something felt wrong. Either way, I decided to suppress my fear and turn to the classroom door. Too short to look into the window of the door, I reach up and turn the handle instead, without looking inside to evaluate the classroom. I crack open the door and peer inside, what I see when I open the door makes me scream at the top of my lungs with fear. I’m struck with fear and can feel the voices coming back.
The Man was sitting at the teacher’s desk, coffee in hand, feet resting on the desk itself.
“It’s nice to see you again William.” He said as a maniacal grin crossed his face,
“Remember me?”

Delta your automated RUC system: so weird.
I finally got the pop up to use an RUC to upgrade without calling in.
So, I booked IND-ATL-SEA-GEG and for the SEA-GEG leg I got this. lol The ATL-SEA FC route confirmed 100%, which is not an easy route to get an RUC on.
I have never once gotten a FC upgrade on this route in the 25 times I’ve flown it, even as a silver. lol Delta. What you doing!?
It’s a 30 minute flight. I am fine in the worst seat they can give me as long as there isn’t a nail in my ass or something. For the record only 2 out of the 12 seats are taken.
I just…. am so confused by Delta’s system sometimes.

2024.05.19 06:38 Pristine_You4918 Welcome to the Shattered Flagon!

Greetings weary travelers! Welcome to the Shattered Flagon, the oldest pub in this world! Here you can hear tales of the history and formation of this world we call Etherian. Please take a seat, and prepare yourself to learn of the founding of a world!
/Un Lore (from here on out listed as /UL) I’m making this subreddit so I have somewhere to post all the lore I am building for a home built world. I plan to do everything from in depth map making (with some of the science of how geography is formed) to building an in depth pantheon. If you happen to see this sub, feedback is more than welcome. This is my first big world building project.
Thank you for coming along this ride with me.
Edit /UL, I will warn you, I write the vast majority of my lore, but I do use the chat-GPT bot to polish it off. I ONLY DO THIS BECAUSE I AM S**T AT PROPERLY WRITING. (I only capsed that because I don’t want people reaming into me for it)

2024.05.19 06:36 Automatic_Ebb4030 Art/painting clubs?

I’ve been feeling pretty lonely as a transfer student and honestly I’m not really the kind to chat up conversations with people before lecture. At my community college I used to take a bunch of art classes and loved sharing and talking about our drawings and paintings with the other students. Here I can’t even take art classes because I’m not an art major (I’m art history). I looked around for an art club but the one I found doesn’t look like it’s done anything the past year or so.
Cobble seems cool but that’s all online I think. I am in one club and those people are all super cool but I wish I could find my artist people lol.

2024.05.19 06:31 tomKphoto_ Drove one today

I drove one for 50 miles from Dellenbach in Fort Collins. Up to Horsetooth Reservoir for the twisties, through Laporte and out to I-25 towards Wyoming for some SuperCruise time. We have a 2019 Leaf that we charge with solar panels and a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness that got rear-ended on the I-25 Autobaun the other night. Could the Equinox take the place of my late Outback and be my new work car? I drive 25k a year as a wedding photographer in Colorado's metro Front Range and into the mountains (Vail and Breckenridge mostly).
Highs ...
OK ...
Lows ...
I was really knocked out by Google on board, the giant screens and SuperCruise. It felt like the surprise and joy of experiencing Compact Discs when they first came out (alright, I'm old). I love live mapping and this thing kills at it.
I want a loaded 3LT but fear a build-out might take too long (I'm currently out a car after the Outback was hit). In conference with their sales team next week to decide.
Hope you get to drive one soon. It's such a modern classic.
