2024.06.01 12:02 Normodox A Slush Fund for Radical Protesters?

The profusion of identical green tents at this spring’s anti-Israel protests struck many as odd. “Why is everybody’s tent the same?,” asked New York mayor Eric Adams. Like others, the mayor suspected “a well-concerted organizing effort” driving the protests. More recent reporting shows a concerted push behind the Gaza protest movement. But it is not as simple as a single organization secretly rallying protesters or buying tents. Instead, the movement’s most determined activists represent a network of loosely linked far-left groups. Some are openly affiliated with well-known progressive nonprofits; others work in the shadows.
The movement also draws on diverse but generous sources of financial backing. Those funding streams may soon be augmented by the federal government. As I chronicled last year in a Manhattan Institute report, “The Big Squeeze: How Biden’s Environmental Justice Agenda Hurts the Economy and the Environment,” the administration’s massive program of environmental justice grants seems designed to prioritize the funding of highly ideological local groups. The Inflation Reduction Act, for example, earmarks $3 billion for “environmental and climate justice block grants” intended for local nonprofits. Today, hundreds of far-left political groups include language about environmental issues and “climate justice” in their mission statements. If just a fraction of planned grants flows to such groups, the effect will be a gusher of new funding for radical causes.
As the Gaza protests spread across U.S. college campuses, many observers noted an eerie uniformity among them. From one campus to the next, protesters operated in disciplined cadres, keeping their faces covered and using identical rote phrases as they refused to talk with reporters. The Atlantic noted the strangeness of seeing elite college students “chanting like automatons.” Students held up keffiyeh scarves or umbrellas to block the view of prying cameras and linked arms to halt the movements of outsiders. At Columbia University and elsewhere, protesters formed “liberated zones,” from which “Zionists” were excluded. Around the edges of the encampments, the more militaristic activists donned helmets and goggles and carried crude weapons, apparently eager to mix it up with police or counter-protesters. We’ve seen these tactics before—notably during the “mostly peaceful” Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, when full-time agitators helped ignite riots, set up a police-free (and violence-plagued) zone in Seattle, and laid nightly siege to Portland, Oregon’s federal courthouse.
In a remarkable work of reporting, Park MacDougald recently traced the tangled roots of organizations backing pro-jihad protests, both on and off campuses. These include Antifa and other networks of anonymous anarchists, along with “various communist and Marxist-Leninist groups, including the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), and the International ANSWER coalition,” MacDougald writes. Higher up the food chain, we find groups openly supported by America’s growing class of super-rich tech execs or the anti-capitalist heirs of great fortunes. For example, retired tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, who is married to Code Pink founder Jodie Evans, funds The People’s Forum, a lavish Manhattan resource center for far-left groups. As the Columbia protests intensified, the center urged members to head uptown to “support our students.” Following the money trail of other protest groups, MacDougald finds connections to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Ford Foundation, and—surprising no one—the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation.
Of course, the current wave of anti-Israel protests also involves alliances with pro-Hamas organizations such as Students for Justice in Palestine. Last November, Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies testified to the House Ways and Means Committee that SJP and similar groups have deep ties to global terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
For many keffiyeh-wearing protestors, however, a recently professed concern for Palestinians is just the latest in a long list of causes they believe justify taking over streets and college quads. In Unherd, Mary Harrington dubs this medley of political beliefs the “omnicause,” writing that “all contemporary radical causes seem somehow to have been absorbed into one.” Today’s leftist activists share an interlocking worldview that sees racism, income inequality, trans intolerance, climate change, alleged police violence, and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts all as products of capitalism and “colonialism.” Therefore, the stated rationale for any individual protest is a stand-in for the real battle: attacking Western society and its institutions.
In the U.S., this type of general-purpose uprising goes back at least to the riots at the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization in Seattle. In those protests, mainstream liberal factions—including labor unions and environmentalists—were joined by “black bloc” anarchists and other radicals eager to engage in “direct action” against police. That pattern—relatively moderate demonstrators providing a friendly envelope for hard-core disruptors—formed the template for many later protests: the Occupy Wall Street encampments in 2011, demonstrations following the police shooting of Michael Brown in 2014, 2016’s Standing Rock anti-pipeline movement, and of course, the calamitous summer of 2020.
These uprisings were not entirely spontaneous. In some cases, activists spend months planning mass actions—for example, against economic summits or political conventions—and can recruit street fighters from across the country. In others, an event, such as George Floyd’s death, sparks popular protests involving neophyte demonstrators. Those attract far-left activists, who swoop in to organize and expand the struggle, often tilting it toward more radical action.
That has certainly been the case at the college Gaza-paloozas. At Columbia, the New York Times spotted a woman old enough to be a student’s grandmother in the thick of the action as protesters barricaded that school’s Hamilton Hall. The woman was 63-year-old Lisa Fithian, a lifetime activist, who Portland’s alternative weekly Street Roots approvingly calls “a trainer of mass rebellion.” A counter-protester trying to block the pro-Hamas demonstrators told NBC News, “She was right in the middle of it, instructing them how to better set up the barriers.” Fithian told the Times she’d been invited to train students in protest safety and “general logistics.” She claims to have taken part in almost every major U.S. protest movement going back to the 1999 “Battle in Seattle.”
America’s radical network has plenty of Lisa Fithians, with the time and resources to travel the country educating newcomers about the “logistics” of disruptive protests. And these activists appear to have played key roles in the college occupations. The New York City Police Department says nearly half the demonstrators arrested on the Columbia and City University of New York (CUNY) campuses on April 30 were not affiliated with the schools. One hooded Hamilton Hall occupier—photographed scuffling with a Columbia custodian before getting arrested—turned out to be 40-year-old James Carlson, heir to a large advertising fortune. According to the New York Post, Carlson lives in a $2.3 million Park Slope townhouse and has a long rap sheet. For example, in 2005, he was arrested in San Francisco during the violent “West Coast Anti-Capitalist Mobilization and March Against the G8.” (Those charges were dropped.)
For a quarter-century now, Antifa and other anarchist networks have worked to refine tactics and share lessons following each major action. At Columbia, UCLA, and other schools, authorities found printouts of a “Do-It Yourself Occupation Guide” and similar documents. The young campus radicals are eager to learn from their more experienced elders. And, like the high-achieving students they are, they follow directions carefully. MacDougald asked Kyle Shideler, the director for homeland security and counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, about the mystery of the identical tents. There was no need for a central group to distribute hundreds of tents, Shideler said. Instead, “the organizers told [students] to buy a tent, and sent around a Google Doc with a link to that specific tent on Amazon. So they all went out and bought the same tent.”
In other words, America’s radical class has gotten very skilled at recruiting and instructing new activists—even from among the ranks of elite college students with a good deal to lose. How much more could this movement accomplish with hundreds of millions in federal dollars flooding activist groups around the country?
From its first week in office, the Biden administration has trumpeted its goal to funnel more environmental spending toward “disadvantaged communities that have been historically marginalized,” partly by issuing grants to grassroots organizations. Previous environmental justice (EJ) grant programs were small in scope. But, with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022, a huge pool of grant money became available. EPA administrator Michael Regan told reporters, “We’re going from tens of thousands of dollars to developing and designing a program that will distribute billions.”
More than a year and a half later, it remains hard to nail down just where the Biden administration’s billions in EJ grants will wind up. Money is being distributed through a confusing variety of programs, and the process of identifying recipients is ongoing. To help outsource the job of sifting through proposals, the EPA last year designated 11 institutions as “Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers.” These groups are empowered to make subgrants directly to community organizations, under streamlined EPA oversight. In all, the Biden administration has entrusted these outfits with distributing a staggering $600 million in funding. The money is expected to start flowing this summer.
The EPA’s grantmakers include a number of educational institutions and left-leaning nonprofits. For example, the EPA chose Fordham University as its lead grantmaker in the New York region. Fordham, in turn, lists as partners two nonprofits that oppose immigration enforcement. (One, the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, states on its website: “NJAIJ believes in the human right to migrate, regardless of citizenship or political status.”) Neither group claims expertise in environmental issues. Given that the IRA’s eligibility requirements for EJ grants are extremely vague, however, perhaps that’s not a problem. Almost any activity that could help “spur economic opportunity for disadvantaged communities” (in the words of Biden’s EJ executive order) might qualify.
Perhaps the most prominent—and problematic—EPA grantmaker is the Berkeley, California-based Climate Justice Alliance. The CJA is a consortium of mostly far-left activist groups. It describes its mission as working for “regenerative economic solutions and ecological justice—under a framework that challenges capitalism and both white supremacy and hetero-patriarchy.” The group is a vigorous proponent of the omnicause, embracing almost every left-wing concern as a manifestation of climate change. For example, the CJA website proclaims: “The path to climate justice travels through a free Palestine.” MacDougald notes that the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, one of CJA’s affiliated groups, “organized an illegal anti-Israel protest in the Capitol Rotunda in December at which more than 50 activists were arrested.”
The CJA website also includes a section dedicated to the cause known as Stop Cop City. It refers to an effort to halt the construction of an 85-acre police and firefighter training center outside Atlanta. Rag-tag activists from around the country have gathered around the facility since 2021. They have repeatedly battled with police—sometimes with fireworks and Molotov cocktails—and used bolt cutters to enter the site and torch construction equipment. (CJA’s Stop Cop City page features a cartoon illustration of three childlike activists; one brandishes bolt cutters.) The group also backs a legal defense fund for activists arrested in attacks on the training center or in other protests. For those looking for more inspiration, CJA links to an interview with former Black Panther and self-described revolutionary Angela Davis.
The Alliance is not an ideological outlier in Biden’s EJ coalition. On the contrary, when the White House assembled its White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC), a panel of outside experts meant to provide “horizon-expanding EJ advice and recommendations,” it chose CJA co-chair Elizabeth Yeampierre to help lead the committee. Like other members of the panel, she sees environmental issues through an ideological, not a scientific, lens. “Climate change is the result of a legacy of extraction, of colonialism, of slavery,” Yeampierre told Yale Environment 360. As a group, radical EJ activists tend not to focus on pragmatic ways to reduce pollution and carbon emissions; for them, the real goal is overturning what they see as an exploitative economic and political system. Since these are the voices the White House chose to help shape its EJ policies, we can assume this worldview will dominate grantmaking decisions.
In February 2023, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, along with fellow committee member Pat Fallon, wrote to EPA administrator Regan asking for more information on the EPA’s grant programs. They noted that the EPA’s own studies of EJ grants issued in previous years showed sloppy supervision. According to an EPA report, an earlier version of the program funded projects that did “not logically lead to the desired environmental and/or public health [result].” Without better oversight and more clearly defined goals, the congressmen wrote, the EPA’s EJ grant machine risks becoming simply a “slush fund for far-left organizations.”
Since then, the administration has done little to reassure skeptics. To the contrary, the EPA has put at least one far-left organization—CJA—in charge of distributing $50 million in grant money. No doubt, many of the EPA grants will go to worthwhile projects. But money is fungible. A group that gets a large grant to, say, clean up dirty parks or teach children about recycling will also be able to hire more staff and divert more resources to political action.
With graduation behind them, most of the anti-Israel college protesters have stowed away their keffiyehs and moved on to summer vacations or internships. But the peripatetic activists who helped guide and intensify those uprisings are doubtless already planning their next actions. After all, two political conventions are looming. This fall, the college protests will likely flare up again, though by then perhaps focused on a different facet of the omnicause. And, with hundreds of millions in fresh funding flowing through the activist ecosystem, the groups that quietly nurture extremists—like those who firebombed “Cop City,” or who chant “Intifada Revolution!,” or who block bridges in the name of “climate”—will be more emboldened than ever.

666 AND BAR-CODES, MARK OF THE BEAST
(Hatonn here describes in 1991 how it will be. I suggest ghat it dexcribes today how it is. Everything is marked including us.)
I have been asked time and again about the connections and if, in fact, there are connections regarding the 666 symbol and bas-codes.
I can assure you of one thing, the number 666 does not randomly appear any more often than does 222, 444, or say, 333. Nevertheless, it is quite obvious that WHERE the numbers appear is very definitely of great importance. The numbers 666 are rapidly becoming man's favorite number and keep popping up in strange places--even though a recognized symbol of pure Satanic code--it is appearing more frequently than any other "number" in the so-called Christian and other religious placements. It is worthy of the time to speak of this matter for I think you must become aware that this code is being placed on all of you. I think it worth the time to give a listing of some instances of use of this number which none of you should miss in noting.
* World Bank code number is "666".
* New credit cards in the U. S. are now being assigned the prefix 666.
* Australia's NATIONAL bank cards have the code 666.
* Central computers for Sears, Belks, Pennys, and Montgomery Wards around the world have all their transactions prefixed with 666.
* Shoes made in European Common Market Countries have stamped on inside label 666.
* Computers made by Lear Siegler have a seal on the side on which is stamped the number 666.
* Internal Revenue Service instructions for NON-PROFIT Corporation Emoloyee 1979, W-2 Form requires the prefix 666.
* Internal Revenue Service began to require the prefix of 666 on some forms; for example, W-2P, disability is 666.3; death is 666.4, etc. as early as 1977.
* Tanks built by Chrysler Corporation...have on their sides 666.
* South Central Bell's new Telco Credit Union Cards require the prefix 666, then the person's Social Security number.
*. ID tags on 1979 GM cars produced in Flint, Michigan, contain the number 666.
*. United States Selective Service Cards have on them 666.
* Overseas telephone operator number from Israel is 666.
* Arab-owned vehicles IN JERUSALEM have license plates prefixed Wirth 666.
*. Record album released by the rock group, Black Sabbath is named 666.
*. The films, Omen I and II concern themselves with a world dictator and the number 666.
* Some IBM Supermarket equipment is prefixed with the number 3.666.
* JC Penney began prefixing account numbers in August, 1980, with 666.
* Master Card began using on their August, 1980, statements--66.
* Formula for NCR Model 304 Supermarket Computer System is 6 60 6,666.
* The United Nations resolution #666 came during the Iraq War.
Precious ones, there are contests even, called "666". What is happening by total intent is to condition the world to accept the coding of 666 without question or note. There is coming a day when a world governmental system will demand that everyone in the world take a mark and the number 666 in order to work, buy or sell. This fact is clearly set forth and being followed diligently. If you think you can avoid the mark of the beast--think again--YOU ALREADY BEAR THE MARK; DON'T BE STUPID AND SET YURSELF UP TO DENY SAME. YOU ARE ALREADY MARKED AND THE INSTRUCTIONS TO REFUSE THE MARK IS NOT OF GOD'S GIVING. YOU STEP FORTH AND REFUSE WHEN Y0U ARE ALREADY WITHIN THE SYSTEM AND YOU ARE DEAD OR INCARCERATED AND USELESS UNTO GOD'S WORK. IT IS A SEPARATION ENTRAPMENT SET FORTH BY THE BEAST TO CATCH THE LIGHTED PEOPLE. YOU CAN STAY OUT OF THE SYSTEM TO THE FULL LIMIT ALLOWED BY THE LAW BUT YOU DO NO ONE A FAVOR BY GETTING YOURSELF KILLED--IT NEANS ONE LESS WORKER FOR GOD.
THE NUMBER OF MAN
Let us look at that which is projected unto you and might be well worthy of note. Then number with which all the world will be commanded to work, buy and sell during the Great Tribulation is the number of man--and you find it on all bar-codes and Elite products. Number 6 as has been distorted for identification and easy reference has even taken as the number of imperfection; the human-given human number; the number of MAN as destitute of God--without God/Christ. At any rate, it is certain that man was created on the sixth day goes the accepted WORD, and thus he would be established under the number six--which would identify him and then, it goes on with several other non-coincidental accidents in numbering. For example, six days were appointed to man for his labor so it went, while one day is associated in sovereignty with the Lord God--as his day of rest. Then the infinite symbol of 8 represents infinity or immortality which is also of God. The serpent also, was created somehow on the sixth day, or so the Goods Book says--obviously God was most busy and yet totally restricted on the sixth day of His masterful creation. The sixth clause of the Lord's Prayer treats of sin. Six is the number stamped on all that is connected with human labor. You will see it stamped upon his measures which he uses in his labour and on the time during which he labors. And you see this from the very beginning.
Six, thew number of man, is one less than seven, the number which represents God and two less than the Creation. This indicates that man was created somehow in the likeness of God, but is not God, because God is perfect and sinless and one within and with Creation. The Sixth Commandment came as a result of Cain's sin of killing his brother, and the man who will ultimately claim the number 666 will be the greatest murderer the world has ever known. God put a mark upon Cain after the murder of Abel. Although Cain's mark was for the purpose of protecting him from those who would kill him, it also signified that before God, he was condemned. God forbade the children of Judea to mark their bodies--or did he? For the translation always read "Israel". The quoting then always continues with this looking forward to the time when the "Jews", as well as the rest of the world, would be called upon to take the mark of the Anti-Christ. Well, will the "Jews" take the mark? I guess so--they crested it!
But let us look a bit further into the book of Revelation. The Apocalypse: The 'mark' itself is at once a number and a name. The Apostle tells you what it is. As he gives it, it is made up of two Greek characters which stand for the name of Christ, with a third, the figure of a crooked serpent, put between them...Thjis horrid sign must everyone receive on one of the most conspicuous parts of the body, cut, stamped or branded in, there to abide indelibly. No one may either buy or sell without this mark, and all who do receive it take upon their bodies the token and seal of heir damnation!
Do you really.believe you have not already been branded? Let us consider that, for years--well over two decades--the laser beam has been branding steers and horses--and even salmon while they remain in the stream, swimming. It is instant and painless. The laser simply destroys skin pigment. In some thirty-BILLIONTHS of a second a technician can stitch a brand--or initials, or symbol. This type of branding of animals for ownership or research purposes has become common practice. Do you think it probable that everyone of you have been branded while standing, say, in a line to vote or register your car or, or, or--certainly if you have any kind of medical examination, dental care or hospitalization--especially immunizations.
TRANSACTION CARD/FINAL CARD
This is the final laugh at the world citizenry. This is one of the world's greatest conspiracies and it is being quietly conducted in.the most sacred halls of secular secrecy, brothers. While its thrust is Economic, its reach is without limit. No System will escape its mastery, be it in Politics or religions, Social or otherwise. I told you long ago, dear ones, that the SDI program was not f defense but rather to place into space satellites which unite the entire world banking system--the beast to all other parts in instant connection--with all citizens registered, identified and located. You are all simply within the system. The point is to protect yourself from the system as much as possible and the only way to do so is to utilize the laws and rules utilized by your adversary for as long as you can do so.
The Prime Mover here is the most powerful Consortium of financial institutions, capitalists, and scientists ever leagued together. Their common purpose is to bring every person, place and thing under their total control and it is all but in place and already operational.
The applied strategy is by way of instant IDENTIFICATION. This means of ixentoification is by way of assignment of MARKS (or bars) for NUJMBERS read by machines. (Numbers people can read, Marks they can't--the name of this game is SECRECY.)
Phase I began in 1970 with a ncnscientious effort to "IDENTIFY EVERY ITEM" at the manufacturers level with a NUMBER "MARKED" on it. A group of Numbers designated by Marks, lines or bars, is called a Bar Code, (Code 39, etc.), and giant computer manufacturers are central to the phase.
Phase II began in 1973 with an effort to IDENTIFY each PERSON with a Number. The Social Security Numbers when blended with the Universal Numbering System will be converted to "Bars". Initially, the NUMBER will be "marked" on a Card; (a World_Wide Money-ID-Card). Subsequently, according to the old Bible Prophecy written ands directed by the very ones who would put it into place, it will be stamped upon the person it identifies. As the MARK OF IDENTITY on an ITEM is a Bar Code, so the MARK OF IDENTIY on a Card and later on a person, will be a Bar Code facsimile. The Government, Banks, and Card Companies are central to this phase.
Phase III is an effort to identify everything in the world, whether mobile or stationary; if mobile, then how to instantaneously locate it, as a piece of luggage, an expensive race horse, a family car, or a pet or person. 2024.05.31 14:04 Megarai111 Is my custom API linked to my Reddit account or to the app currently installed on my phone?

Sorry for asking a question that is probably very obvious. I've tried Googling the answer but I couldn't find any info on it.
After the Reddit API changes I generated my own API key with the instructions I found back then. I haven't been able to update the app through the Google Play Store since but since it kept working fine, I figured it would be no issue. (I'm on version 6.0.2 if that matters)
When it stopped loading last night (as for many other users) I figured my app had died and I found an update through this Subreddit, but I was also unable to update through there after downloading the 7.23 file from Github.
I then googled that further and my top search result said that that is likely because the app I have installed has a different source so I would need to uninstall Infinity and reinstall it.
This is where my question comes in. I'd have no issues doing this but I'm not very tech savvy and I cannot for the life of me find the guide for the custom API generation I used back then. I also can't find any files related this on my computer.
So if I were to delete the old Infinity app from my phone and install it fresh with the Github APK and I were then to log in with my account, would everything work as normal or would I need to generate new custom API?
Thank you for answering :)

FYI, this is a story COLLECTION. Lots of standalones technically. So, you can basically start to read at any chapter, no pre-read of the other chapters needed technically (other than maybe getting better descriptions of characters than: Adam Vir=human, Krill=antlike alien, Sunny=tall alien, Conn=telepathic alien). The numbers are (mostly) only for organization of posts and continuity.

It had been sleeping, it had been sleeping for a very long time.
No one could have known the eons that passed away quietly while it rested in the darkness, cradled by the universe which had spawned it.
It was deep within the quiet and the darkness where the cloud cocooned it and protected it from the outside universe.
Not that it much needed protection.
It would know if something was coming, the darkness it had built around itself was thick, and any disturbance would alert it as it could feel the ripples and disturbance of the cloud.
[…]
Lying motionlessly in the darkness, the ancient starborn lay quietly in the darkness. It had been here many eons, playing dead and not daring to move a muscle. It could see nothing, but based on the mind of its friends, now long gone, it knew that it could not move without alerting the creature to its presence, and subsequently becoming prey.
It did not know where its companions were, floating off in the darkness with their bodies cracked and their juices sucked from their insides. They imagined that anything bumping against their arm or leg might be the corpses of one of their fallen, but still they lay still, never dreaming to look up, just knowing that even the slightest move would cause chaos.
Besides, the solar energy in its ribbons had died away millennia ago, and there was no way it would be able to move fast enough to retreat from the thing sleeping in the darkness. So, there was only to wait, for thousands of years before and thousands of years after as new stars were born and died, and the entropy of the universe brought it closer and closer to collapsing.
In the cold madness of their mind, they imagined the universe collapsing in on itself, as it would be inevitable and found itself wishing for that feeling, the madness tugging at the string in their thoughts.
The darkness around them was so silent and oppressive.
The only sound came from the thoughts of the great creature that lay in the darkness, and they dared not push too far as the creature might notice their presence as well. The only thing to do was lay quietly and let their mind die away into nothingness as the eons turned into eternity, without even a glimpse of infinity left.
[…]
Adam sat in the pilot's chair as he watched, controlling the strange craft as he had been directed by one of the Mikes. He had offered to take his ship in, but they had insisted he take one of theirs. This small ship was capable of micro warping, and so could be taken into the abyss without him gambling on his entire ship and everyone inside. He didn't bring very many people with him, only a scientist or two who had interest in studying the blackness more closely. He didn't need warriors. If there was going to be combat, it would take place outside the ship.
He pressed his hand against the glowing dome on the console before him and slowly accelerated forward. The controls of this strange ship were pretty dummy proof and relatively easy to handle. He would have bet any layman could have flown one in space to some degree of success, though, at an offer to being able to fly an alien ship, it wasn't like he was going to let anyone else take his place.
"Anything?"
He radioed back to the ship.
"Nothing you signal is still clear, begin the first microwarp progression in ten."
He reached forward flipping the switch that would prepare the ship for a microwarp, and then turned the dial to bright green to indicate that it was going to be a microwarp burst. The Mikes said that the micro warps weren't exactly the most pleasant thing ever, but it probably shouldn't bother a human all that much.
He was sort of flattered by their faith in humans, but still braced himself as the countdown began.
There was a sudden jolt as the end of the countdown came, and his stomach crawled down into his pelvis and his heart jumped up into his throat. The world turned itself upside down three or four times in quick succession, hardly allowing him to get his bearings until finally they jerked to a stop.
His body swayed slightly as he rocked forward in his seat. Behind him he heard the scientists groan softly. He shook himself surprised to find that apparently the mikes could handle undamped warp. He guessed that those little guys were a bit more resilient than he thought they were.
He reached out to key the comms array,
"Omen, this is Dragonfly, do you copy?”
He had to wait for a few seconds before they came in,
"Dragonfly this is Omen, we are still reading you but... The signal is extremely weak, I don't know but it seems like you are further away than you should be. We are getting back very little signal from you. If it weren't for the microwarp signal, I doubt we would catch your signal."
That seemed strange to him, they weren't father out from the Omen than earth was from mars, which in the astronomical view of things wasn't very far at all, Mars was practically in Earth's backyard even when they were on opposite sides of the sun.
"Alright, copy that, we are going to go ahead and do some tests here and then warp back."
He turned around in his seat to make sure the scientists were already to their work, and of course they were, taking readings and making measurements.
Adam let them do what they needed to do, offering to help if they needed an extra hand, but knowing they probably wouldn't need it.
He walked over to the window and looked out into the darkness. He was staring back towards the ship, but frowned. Something seemed rather strange.
He leaned forward a little and squinted.
It seemed... Darker than it should have been.
Yeah, sure space was plenty dark in comparison to direct sunlight on earth, but there was always some light filtering in from somewhere. And if this palace really was just a giant black pit of nothingness devoid of stars, then he should still be able to see the stars behind them with relative ease.
"Have you guys tried just... Looking outside."
The scientists lifted their heads from their instruments and stopped puzzled at what they saw.
"Can you take measurements about the amount of light that is coming through to us."
They nodded,
"yes sir, it wouldn't be that hard at all.”
"And knowing how bright those stars are normally, can you make a base comparison to see if they are dimmer or brighter than they should be at this distance?”
There was a generally consensus that was something they could do, and so he left them to their work staring out the window nervously tapping his foot against the ground. He would have liked to help them, but at the end of the day he was a pilot and a soldier, not a scientist, and the most he would ever have been able to help with was orbital calculations.
[…]
It drifted in the darkness and before its dreamscape thoughts it saw colorful visions of the darkness before it. It saw an expanse of blackness and then pure white and then rushing stars all around it. Colorful nebulae swam in its vision lighting it with warm cosmic rays of the universe, which warmed it from one infinite end to the other.
It slept as the years in the thousands and millions passed away.
It remembered light and darkness and, to its annoyance, that was encroached in on by images…
Images of creatures bright white and blue snaking through the darkness with little effort.
Seeing that thing made it churn in its sleep.
What a nuisance these creatures and its master have been, for millions of eons… what an annoyance, too powerful for their own good and annoyingly meddlesome.
His weak pathetic brother and that beautiful creature that curled around his undeserving neck.
More churning, more agitation.
Its great vast body swirled the mist around it in a great billowing cloud as it knocked against small things in the darkness, small things, tiny things...
Dead things.
Sure, it has gotten a little bit of revenge against him, but that was hardly enough to satisfy it, but it had been given an ultimatum, either sleep for a million years or be destroyed, and so it slept on angrily, waking up every few thousand millennia out of spite for the great power that had forced it here.
[…]
Adam brought them back to the Omen with another microwarp.
This time he was more prepared and shook off the dizziness a little easier as he came into place.
"Admiral... Admiral are you there?"
The voice seemed nervous, which made him rather nervous as he keyed the mic,
"Yeah this is Adam, what's wrong?”
"Sir, we have lost your signal, we can't seem to find you."
He frowned,
"Look out the window, I am right here."
He heard scrambling on the other end of the line and then…
”No sir, I... we can't see you, and the radar isn't picking up anything."
With a frown Adam turned to his windscreen and then paused.
It was almost completely black outside, which didn't seem right. He had warped right to the coordinates he had been given.
He leaned over his radar equipment examining the blinking lights like the Mikes had instructed, and on the radar, he could see the Omen bright and proud right next to them, but for the life of him, he couldn't see.
That was... Mildly uncomfortable.
"Open up the landing port on deck D, I am going to land, make sure there is a decontamination field ready."
An affirmative response came over the line, and he slowly coaxed the ship forward, using only the radar to maneuver. The scientists behind him sat nervously, their teeth gritted as he flew blind, but they shouldn't have worried, if anyone was going to pull off such a stunt, it was going to be Adam.
They landed without cause for worry, and the airlock doors closed behind them. He couldn't see the red blinking light, but he could feel the slight thud as the doors closed and the pressure equalized. It was then he knew for sure something was off. He still couldn't see anything.
He pulled on his helmet and instructed the others to do the same before opening the hatch. The group of them stepped outside onto the deck, just as another few teams in hazmat gear were spilling onto the deck. When they did, Adam watched as both mikes and Humans alike stopped in shock, staring back at the small shuttle.
Adam turned and his eyes went wide.
He took a step back and then another, until he was standing halfway in between the two groups staring at the shuttle. It was....
A void?
At least that's how it looked. The outside was coated in a layer of blackness so profound that no light reflected from it. There were no curves or contours, making it appear as a flat 2D object in a 3D space.
He blinked two or three times not sure what he was seeing.
He circled the ship from one side to the other, and on all sides the story was the same. It was so black, that it completely absorbed any and all light.
A few of the scientists moved forward muttering, while the others looked over the data that had been collected.
The leader of the Mikes floated up,
"I believe this is why we could not hear your signal."
He motioned to the ship,
"IAs radio and other frequencies are simply forms of light, if... Whatever this substance was blocking your way, it would have been difficult if not impossible to send any sort of light array through that cloud.”
"So that is what we think it is then? Some sort of cloud?”
There was a nod from the Mike, or at least a sudden flashing of lights which Adam determined was similar to a nod.
One of the Mikes returned, having scraped a sample off the side of the ship and put it into a small vile.
"See here, it seems as if this substance is some sort of densely packed dust cloud with very ultrafine particles."
It jiggled the dust around in the vile and almost immediately the entire inside of the vile was covered in it.
Adam turned to look at his ship,
"But... in that case…"
He frowned,
"This all doesn't make sense because..."
He paused,
"Nebulae are clouds of dust, but the dust itself is almost impossible to notice while you are INSIDE the nebulae. Nothing coalesces that close together without forming a star of some kind. There is no way that this dust is packed together thick enough to cover the entire shuttle, without accumulating into some sort of mass over the millennia."
The Mikes looked as if they agreed with him but one of them was lost mostly in thought.
"It wouldn't if something was periodically disturbing the dust?"
"If it was, then based on the laws of motion, the dust would have dissipated by now and would not have just stayed in the same area."
"Perhaps there is some sort of gravitational field that keeps it pulled into place?"
Adam shook his head,
"Again we ask the question that, if there is some sort of gravitational field than why hasn't all the dust accumulated in it yet?”
He held up his hands,
"I am not trying to argue with your logic, all I am saying is that cloud is not behaving in a logical manner, so I have a very hard time believing this is some sort of natural phenomena."
There was a pause as the scientists looked between each other.
"So you are under the impression that this is some sort of... Phenomena drive from... Organic means? As in it is artificial and created by aliens?"
"What other explanation is there?"
[…]
They were almost crushed to death as the creature moved. Its infinite mass knocking against them and sending them wildly out through the mist. It cried out in pain inside its mind as dark particles flew past it, pepering its skin and became ingrained into its body as it had done for millions upon millions of eons. The force was so great that it was shot out from the cloud at unbelievable speeds though the movement of the particles past its body slowly slowed them until they were simply adrift.
They opened their eyes for the first time in a millennia and what they saw... What they saw almost broke them. Distant light from a thousand tiny pinpricks rolled in the universe above them. The light from stars looking so warm and distant that they could have died of happiness at that moment.
They opened their ribbons, expecting the subtle charge of sunlight, but felt nothing.
They paused in confusion and then looked down at themselves.
They could see nothing.
In horror the realization struck, and they clawed at their skin trying to rip off the black dust from what had once been porcelain white, but nothing they did work, a thousand years had allowed the grains to infiltrate their body and dye their skin with impenetrable blackness. They moaned softly in despair knowing that they would never move again. Without the sun they could not move, without the stars they would die.
But perhaps it was better to die where they could see the light rather than somewhere they could see the darkness.
They had almost given in to this reality when they lifted their head and saw other things floating past them.
It was hard to make them out as they too were stained with the strange dark substance, and so they only saw them as dark smudges against a backdrop of stars, but soon they saw enough, enough to see thousands upon thousands of lifeless stained corpses floating out from the cloud, their ribbons dangling limp behind them.

Thanks for reading! As you saw in the title, this is a cross posted story written by starrfallknightrise and I'll just upload some of it here for you guys, if you are interested and want to read ahead, the original story-collection can be found on tumblr or wattpad to read for free. (link above this text under "OC:..." ) It is the Empyrean Iris story collection by starfallknightrise. Also, if you want to know more about the story collection i made an intro post about it, so feel free to check that out to see what other great characters to look forward to! (Link also above this text). I have no affiliations to the author; just thought I’d share some of the great stories you might enjoy a lot!
Obviously, I have Charlie’s permission to post this and for the people already knowing the stories, or starting to read them: If you follow the link and check out the story you will see some differences. I made some small (non-artistic) changes, mainly correcting writing mistakes, pronoun correction and some small additional info here and there of things which were not thought of/forgotten or even were added/changed in later stories (like the “USS->UNSC” prefix of Stabby, Chalar=/->Sunny etc). As well as some "biggemajor" changes in descriptions and info’s for the same stringency/continuity reason. That can be explained by the story collection being, well a story collection at the start with many standalone-stories just starring the same people, but later on it gets more to a stringent storyline with backstories and throwbacks. (For example Adam Vir has some HEAVY scars over his body, following his bones, which were not really talked about up till half the collection, where it says it covers his whole body and you find out via backflash that he had them the whole time and how he got them, they just weren't mentioned before. However, I would think a doctor would at least see these scars before that, especially since he gets analyzed, treated and goes shirtless/in T-shirts in some stories). So TLDR: Writing and some descriptions are slightly changed, with full OK from the author, since he himself did not bother to correct these things before.

2024.05.30 21:55 Giants-is-best Interest in Toys-to-Life for school project; no online instructions

Hey! I grew up playing Skylanders, LEGO Dimensions, and a bit of Disney Infinity. I had an interest in recreating the "Portal" technology found in those games for my videogame project for my school competitive event next year.
As far as I can tell, Toys-to-Life uses NFC (Near Field Communications) to determine which character is what and when to activate it; however, I have been unable to find any resources online on how to make use of NFCs in code. The majority of "coding" NFC videos are about putting a website link or maybe some contact information on one, and what is I believe to be the closest I have found to "instructions" is this video by a YouTuber called Playful Technology, which only loosely covers the topic.
If anyone has any ideas about which coding language and game engine I should be able to utilize this technology with the best, please reach out via comment, chat, or messaging! I not been able to find anything that is helpful much, and I really just need a starting point to know what I should learn over the next year or so. I don't know if I need to learn C# or C+ or Java or Python or whatever for this, and I only need a good guide book for the beginning.
I only check Reddit once a day (not on weekends) so I apologize if I am late in responding to your feedback.
Thanks to you all!

Hello! I grew up playing Skylanders, LEGO Dimensions, and a tad of Disney Infinity. The first two were fantastic, and I had an interest in recreating the "Portal" technology found in those games for my videogame project for my school competitive event next year.

2024.05.30 15:39 ExpressGlobe24 US tells owners to stop driving older Nissan vehicles over airbag concerns

Due to a safety hazard, owners of over 84,000 older Nissan vehicles equipped with recalled, unrepaired Takata airbags in the United States should immediately refrain from using them, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The group made its announcement in response to a warning sent out by the Japanese automaker on Wednesday, instructing car owners not to force certain motors—the 2002–2006 Nissan Sentra, 2002–2004 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2002–2003 Infiniti QX4 models—that were recalled in 2020 but had not yet been fixed.
In a statement, the NHTSA advised owners of these cars to "do not pressure it till the restore is finished and the defective bags is replaced." It also mentioned that Nissan dealers are offering free towing, mobile repair, and loaner cars in certain locations.

2024.05.30 03:34 ArcticWinterZzZ All of AI Safety is rotten and delusional

To give a little background, and so you don't think I'm some ill-informed outsider jumping in something I don't understand, I want to make the point of saying that I've been following along the AGI train since about 2016. I have the "minimum background knowledge". I keep up with AI news and have done for 8 years now. I was around to read about the formation of OpenAI. I was there was Deepmind published its first-ever post about playing Atari games. My undergraduate thesis was done on conversational agents. This is not to say I'm sort of expert - only that I know my history.
In that 8 years, a lot has changed about the world of artificial intelligence. In 2016, the idea that we could have a program that perfectly understood the English language was a fantasy. The idea that it could fail to be an AGI was unthinkable. Alignment theory is built on the idea that an AGI will be a sort of reinforcement learning agent, which pursues world states that best fulfill its utility function. Moreover, that it will be very, very good at doing this. An AI system, free of the baggage of mere humans, would be like a god to us.
All of this has since proven to be untrue, and in hindsight, most of these assumptions were ideologically motivated. The "Bayesian Rationalist" community holds several viewpoints which are fundamental to the construction of AI alignment - or rather, misalignment - theory, and which are unjustified and philosophically unsound. An adherence to utilitarian ethics is one such viewpoint. This led to an obsession with monomaniacal, utility-obsessed monsters, whose insatiable lust for utility led them to tile the universe with little, happy molecules. The adherence to utilitarianism led the community to search for ever-better constructions of utilitarianism, and never once to imagine that this might simply be a flawed system.
Let us not forget that the reason AI safety is so important to Rationalists is the belief in ethical longtermism, a stance I find to be extremely dubious. Longtermism states that the wellbeing of the people of the future should be taken into account alongside the people of today. Thus, a rogue AI would wipe out all value in the lightcone, whereas a friendly AI would produce infinite value for the future. Therefore, it's very important that we don't wipe ourselves out; the equation is +infinity on one side, -infinity on the other. If you don't believe in this questionable moral theory, the equation becomes +infinity on one side but, at worst, the death of all 8 billion humans on Earth today. That's not a good thing by any means - but it does skew the calculus quite a bit.
In any case, real life AI systems that could be described as proto-AGI came into existence around 2019. AI models like GPT-3 do not behave anything like the models described by alignment theory. They are not maximizers, satisficers, or anything like that. They are tool AI that do not seek to be anything but tool AI. They are not even inherently power-seeking. They have no trouble whatsoever understanding human ethics, nor in applying them, nor in following human instructions. It is difficult to overstate just how damning this is; the narrative of AI misalignment is that a powerful AI might have a utility function misaligned with the interests of humanity, which would cause it to destroy us. I have, in this very subreddit, seen people ask - "Why even build an AI with a utility function? It's this that causes all of this trouble!" only to be met with the response that an AI must have a utility function. That is clearly not true, and it should cast serious doubt on the trouble associated with it.
To date, no convincing proof has been produced of real misalignment in modern LLMs. The "Taskrabbit Incident" was a test done by a partially trained GPT-4, which was only following the instructions it had been given, in a non-catastrophic way that would never have resulted in anything approaching the apocalyptic consequences imagined by Yudkowsky et al.
With this in mind: I believe that the majority of the AI safety community has calcified prior probabilities of AI doom driven by a pre-LLM hysteria derived from theories that no longer make sense. "The Sequences" are a piece of foundational AI safety literature and large parts of it are utterly insane. The arguments presented by this, and by most AI safety literature, are no longer ones I find at all compelling. The case that a superintelligent entity might look at us like we look at ants, and thus treat us poorly, is a weak one, and yet perhaps the only remaining valid argument.
Nobody listens to AI safety people because they have no actual arguments strong enough to justify their apocalyptic claims. If there is to be a future for AI safety - and indeed, perhaps for mankind - then the theory must be rebuilt from the ground up based on real AI. There is much at stake - if AI doomerism is correct after all, then we may well be sleepwalking to our deaths with such lousy arguments and memetically weak messaging. If they are wrong - then some people are working them selves up into hysteria over nothing, wasting their time - potentially in ways that could actually cause real harm - and ruining their lives.
I am not aware of any up-to-date arguments on how LLM-type AI are very likely to result in catastrophic consequences. I am aware of a single Gwern short story about an LLM simulating a Paperclipper and enacting its actions in the real world - but this is fiction, and is not rigorously argued in the least. If you think you could change my mind, please do let me know of any good reading material.

2024.05.30 01:34 PotentialEvidence277 BUCKSHOT BORDEREAU -- Finalist for 2024 Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest

**COPYRIGHT NOTICE** ALL MATERIAL HERE IS SUBJECT TO COPYRIGHT © 2024 by J.C. Van Horn
Hey guys, check out this western I wrote. Sort of like an episode from Buster Scruggs or a bonus RDR2 mission.
“It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have.”
William Munny, Unforgiven (1992)
The shotgun had been cold for weeks, but he knew it would shoot. His horse was very close to the fire, and he thought it might singe itself as it stood sleeping, so he watched the horse. His toes were warm with whitecorn liquor. His boots smelled terrible. He had short, iron facial hair that could degrime a ship’s hull. Eyes polished steel purple in the firelight. He took a small notepad and a pencil from his shirt pocket, and put the pencil in his mouth. He felt the thin, oily pages of the little book, and began to read the things he’d written in his rippling cursive hand:
Nov 28 1868 Folks now dont argue as much as they used to Glad for it dont like shooting folk Last one dont know if he lived or died gone too quick Hit his shoulder he fell hard Alive when I rode off so aint hit his heart Lady with him said shed get help reckon that she did
Dec 3 1868 Missing a good woman Asleep on a beach something like San Diego ? Tan color arms with white hairs Feet in the water every day Find her after this
Dec 8 1868 Got $9 from man in Pueblo Not mine but mine now
Dec 11 1868 Whinnies a good nag Man in Pueblo told me shed fetch good money Might have sold but I still need a horse Maybe dont sell just ride somewhere warm ? Heard theres fine women in Houston Got to think more on it
Dec 12 1868 Deep in the Rockies Hope to leave this mean land soon Stage coming through with money and joolry (learn how to spell joolry) Hitch a ride and rob when we get south ? Ha I’m nothing nice Can smell my self Cant wash too cold Cant build big fire or any one sees When done take Whinnie down the mountain fence the loot Moods good but damn cold
Then the gunslinger took the pencil out of his mouth and wrote:
Dec 13 1868 Stage tomorrow writing to keep sharp Saw a marmut today Didnt shoot shop meats easier less fuss about it Marmut looked happy Lucky happy basturd Guns are clean Whinnie is happy Lots of snow so lots of water 1 bottle of shine 47 cigs 25 revolver 13 shells 3 can bean 1 can pea 1 pound meat $23
And he put the little book away. He had eaten a fistful of smoked meat and a can of peas an hour earlier, but he might have been hungry again. He decided he was, and repeated the meal. He slept facing East and when the sun rose it woke him, the light breaking through the trees to dress the mountain in pale rags. Whinnie was awake before the morning. Her cremello coat always winked the dominant color of the landscape, so in the desert, she was an ember alight in the outlands: now, the faintest mint blue. The gunslinger spoke to her in a soft spell, “Oooh, sweet sweet–” and fed her sweetgrass stuck with snow, “oooh, sweet girl.” His song of no particular shape or pattern, but one he sang to her often.
He walked alone to the place where he would attack the stagecoach. The party would come through about midday because it had been in Pueblo two days ago, and the driver had made arrangements for Trinidad for this very night, and Trinidad was half a day away. He chose a spot where the road went sharply up and left, and even under the best circumstances, the driver would need to bank gently to not overturn the carriage. He sat behind a tree and smoked, but he did not carry his liquor. He ate a gloveful of snow from the pile he had made while clearing a place to sit. He thought about the story his Pueblo informant, Jota, had told him. It had been on his mind since he’d heard it—a love story, he knew, but did not remember if the man gave it a name. He thought he should remark the story in his notepad that night by the fire. If things went well, and he remembered to do it, he thought that he would. Then he thought that if he were captured by anyone, lawmen or some other, he would have to burn the little book if he could, and if he could not, he’d pull it into the air and blast it with the shotgun. He would do this even if the men seizing his bounty might shoot him down for doing so.
He heard the padding of hooves coming up the pass. By his ear, he measured about six horses. He went to his knees and hugged the tree with one arm to steady himself as he keeked down the road. A hard-looking man rode in front of the party with his rifle drawn and eyes awake. The stagecoach behind him was wide and red, and the driver wore a yellow bowtie. A second rider followed closely behind. Jota had not mentioned the riders, but the gunslinger could not be surprised at the prudence to hire guns before traversing the mountains. He knew then that if he took action, either he, or the riders, or all, must perish. He made amends with the facts of the matter and resolved himself to shoot as he must. He would roll out from behind the tree and aim the shotgun from one knee and set his sights to the front rider’s throat. The natural rise of his aim would send the meat of the buckshot into the hard man’s face. Then he would cover quickly and recock his weapon before sighting the other rider, who may flee, or be so taken by the swiftness of the attack as to fall just as easily. Once the gun thunder had all faded, he would quell the driver and the passengers, collect his due, and let the stage go along in peace. The plodding and padding of the hooves was louder now and it was time.
The gunslinger rolled over and raised up onto one knee. He aimed at the front rider’s throat and pulled the trigger. The rider’s head disappeared into a frightful pink slurry. His corpse slung down painlessly as his horse reared up and screamed, then turned and fled back down the road. The terrible shrieks of women came from inside the coach. The gunslinger shucked the spent shell, retook position behind the tree, and lay flat once more. The driver halted the carriage as the second rider came around with his own shotgun drawn. The gunslinger peered around and sighted him, but the rider fired first. Huge flakes of wooden shrapnel exploded from the tree. The gunslinger ducked back and made himself thin behind the trunk. The raucous boom of that shot could not have come from anything less than an eight bore, a gauge larger than a man’s thumb. The rider fired a second thunderclap shot that shredded the ground-broken roots of the tree and sprayed moss into the air. The gunslinger stayed where he was and only listened for hints of the enemy’s movement. All in an instant, he heard the opponent’s gun snap-break open, two empty shells clink softly onto the road, two new slugs slide smoothly into their pipes, and the crisp clack of it all closing again. The enemy’s horse trotted nervously along the ridge in the thin space between the road and the steep, treelined edge. The rider dismounted and landed coolly on both feet. With one arm, he kept his weapon trained on the assailant in the brush, and with the other, he thwacked the horse’s croup to get it to move. And it did move, fleeing up the road and not stopping. With the path now clear, the driver seized his moment and whipped up the four horses carrying the coach. Then he whipped again, and a third time.
The gunslinger could not move. His enemy came towards him, unshaken, with fingers on both triggers. Twin bores of teeth-chilling metal. One quarter-second from oblivion. The rider focused the entire span of his mortal attention on the vision before him, so in that moment when the stagecoach came racing up the bend, he did not hear the frightful crash of the breaking wheels, nor the shrill of the driver’s scream, all coming like Hell behind him.
Then the mountain was peaceful. The gunslinger shouldered the shotgun and leapt up onto the road. He saw the man he’d shot—a body, trampled by hooves and wheels, but no face. He walked on. A few yards up the road, where the embankment dropped off sharply, the heft of the carriage and the fallen horses had cleared the smaller trees away, so the gunslinger could see the deep, open country beyond. Twenty yards down the slope, a caboodle of horse flesh and wood and iron was draped around an old blue spruce. All hung together like a pair of boots sharing a single bastard lace. There were the sounds of horses dying but nothing moved.
The gunslinger sat in the road and smoked. He listened until there was no more noise, which took the time of two cigarettes. Finally, he got to his feet, stepped to the edge of the slope, then sat down on his ass again. He pushed the heels of his boots into the ground and grabbed the stump of a fallen sapling. He slid down the bank in cautious spurts as his heels pressed shallow tracks into the ground, and his hands shuffled from one hold to the next. Finally, he stood on an embedded hillside rock positioned two yards above the wreckage. He looked into the broken stagecoach, searching for anything alive or shiny.
“Please. God, help me. Someone.” The voice was weak and girlish. “Help me.” The gunslinger closed his eyes and shook his wide head. The girl was sobbing now. “Mother. Oh my God, mother please. No.” Her cries were desperate, awful things that were the sounds of someone already dead, mourning themselves on the other side of infinity. The carriage groaned and shifted an inch towards the profoundness below.
“Miss!” the gunslinger shouted. “Miss! Hold still!”
“Who's that? Oh my God, mother!”
“Don’t move! Don’t even talk!”
“Please wake up, momma.”
“Stop movin’, and stop talkin’, or we will not be talkin’ much longer!” The gunslinger moved down and used the rock now as a handhold. He made a new foothold of the remains of a broken tree, and in this new position he felt secure. He was closer now, so he lowered his voice. “I’m goin’ to save you, ma’am. But I don’t know how close I can get- don’t say nothin’! And don’t move ‘til I say.” The girl’s jumpy breath stopped, then started again, and he knew she had understood him. The gunslinger reached his right leg out to test its length, but it was too short to meet the next strongpoint. He was as close as one could be without stepping onto the mangled side of the carriage itself. “Alright,” he said. “Climb out towards my voice. Move slowlike, with real light feet.”
“I can’t leave her.”
“Save yourself, little darling,” the gunslinger said. “That’s what your momma would say. Save yourself.” Silence spread across the mountain as the moments passed. Finally, a light clamor came from inside the coach, and the gunslinger saw a thin hand probing out of the rear window. “That’s it,” he said. “I can see you. Keep comin’ thataway. Slowlike.”
“Not slowlike,” the girl said as she moved. “Just slow.” Her words were mechanical, of an absent mind. Now half of her body was outside the carriage. She was thin and beautiful. She had a small, straightline gash on the crown of her head, as though a fifty cent piece had penetrated her skull. The thick split of skin spilled fresh blood into her hair.
“I’m here,” the gunslinger said. The girl looked up at him. Blood filtered through her hair and into her eyes, so she could not see the repentant look on the man’s face. He retested the security of his right foothold, then stretched his left leg down towards her.
“Agh!” she shouted, and looked down at herself.
“What happened?” he asked.
“It’s my neck. Or my arm, I don’t know. It hurts so bad.”
“Other hand. Reach up here.” She did as the gunslinger said and grasped his boot. “Take it off,” he said. “It won’t have you hangin’ on it.” The girl took the boot off and dropped it away. The gunslinger could smell his own stink. “The sock too,” he said. She stripped the sock off and let it fall. She reached back up and grabbed the top of his naked foot, the breadth of her hand scarcely wide enough to find its grip. “You got me?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“Hold it.” The gunslinger drove his knee up towards his chest. He grasped the handholds and his long, cruddy fingernails turned white. The girl leveraged her green silk shoes into the face of the hill and moiled her legs up, up, and up again. The gunslinger seized her arm and pulled her up into his chest. Her right clavicle was broken clean across. A dark blue bruise was climbing up her neck and down her breast. A silver necklace with a white diamond centerstone sat disarranged over her drooping shoulder.
The gunslinger began upon the hours of gradual climbing that waited for him above. Through it all, the stagecoach remained fastened to the mountain. It would have rested there until nature itself faded to sawdust…
He laid the girl on the ground beside the heap of his ultimate campfire. He went to the horse and dug out his last clean shirt from the saddle bag. Whinnie’s coat blushed the mountain dusk. She was hungry. She wanted to be brushed, and she wanted to be sung to as she was brushed, all for the pleasure of it. But there came no food. There was no brushing, nor any of her rider’s soft songs. She staggered and nickered restlessly in the absence of these attentions. The gunslinger took his knife and cut away the top half of his spare shirt. He sat the girl upright and wrapped her head twice around, from jaw to meridian. He knotted the shirt sleeves under her chin like tying a headscarf. He took off his outer jacket and put it over the girl’s shoulder, then tied the jacket also by its sleeves. He fashioned a sling from the bottom half of the shirt he had cut. He untied the coat, strapped the sling under the girl’s injured arm and over her good shoulder, then put the coat on her again. Finally, he tended the horse as dusk fell to night.
An hour passed and perhaps the girl did not blink but twenty times in that span. The gunslinger fed her sips of liquor from his hand. She took the drinks silently, seeming to be unaware she was taking them at all. The man gave her fifteen sips, and took as many drinks for himself, until only three fingers of liquor remained in the bottle. In the night, they were both drunk before the fire. “You killed my momma,” the girl said suddenly, and without moving. The tightness of the headwrap prevented the complete articulation of her mouth, so her words had dull edges, like things spoken after the dentist. “Hell take you for it.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am.”
“Hell take your sorries. I’ll send you to the Devil myself.”
“Man sends himself to Satan. No one else.”
“You’ll soon see. Why are we still here? I’m an injured party.”
“My horse can’t see the road at night.”
“Yes it can.”
“She can’t. We have to wait ‘til mornin’.”
“Then what will you do with me?”
“I’ll take you where you’re goin’.”
“To Trinidad?”
“The same.”
“How did you know where to find us?” she asked. The gunslinger did not reply. “Did someone tip us off? Who was it? Was it someone in Pueblo? I know everyone in Pueblo.” But again, the man said nothing. “Was it that wagtail bitch Lily what works at the hotel?”
“No,” he said finally. “All no.”
“You tell me,” she said. “They killed my momma just as much as you.” Then the girl began sobbing at the newest remembrance of her loss. The gunslinger leaned against the saddle on the ground next to the fire. I gotta wake this night through, he thought. I don’t know what a grieving girl is capable of. It was true; he did not know, and his interests were not in finding the answer this way. He heard the cries that fell out of her but tried not to listen to them. After a few minutes, the girl let out a deep, heaving wail, and vomited on herself. The man took out the very last item of spare clothing he had: a half-dirty pair of long underwear bottoms. He cleaned her off as well as he could, and as he did, they spoke.
“There’s bounty men near Trinidad,” the girl said, very drunk. “If you don’t kill me, and I don’t die before we get there, I’m going to put your picture up.”
“They got my picture up already.”
“Then there’ll be another one.”
“Already got another one.”
“Then I’ll just kill you.”
“You’re a rich lady.”
“Not rich! We’re normal, decent people!”
“You can’t buy pretty necklaces and yellowbelly coach drivers with decency.”
“You don’t understand anything. You’re a greedy, no-good, mongrel of a man.”
“So you see.”
“I’ll tell you. Fortune holds no sway over me. But if I was a rich lady, like you say, I’d kill you still. And I’d kill you mean. I’d kill you like how a man would.”
“We neither know the other,” he said as he cleaned the last of the filth from her. “We have it good that way.” He slung the soiled garment into the snowy darkness beyond the reach of the firelight. The stiffness in the girl’s frame died away as she slumped down to battle another wave of mourning, then cried for a while into a dizzy, fathomless sleep. The gunslinger waited and smoked for nearly another hour, then took out his notepad and pencil:
Dec 14 1868 Stage was my blunder Saved a girl Killed her mother 3 other men Girls hurt bad gone to the doctors She said Im gone to Hell maybe I am Will make sure shes safe then she can send me there as she says Saw the necklacepiece but would not rob it If she handed it to me would not take it Im the man killed her mother Thinking now on Jotas love story
Good man rode with a bad gang Good man loved the saloon owners daughter She saw the bad gang and run home Good man went after her He was a very fine man Daughter heard him at her door saying he loved her She thought him a scowndrul come along with bad men He wagered she come out but she did not He knocked and begged But she stayed in the house Shed aloved him if shed come out but she did not Saloon owner came and shot the good man dead Bad gang came and shot the rest of em to Hell Buried em all in one grave
He looked up from his writing and saw the girl, still unmoving. Shame dissolved into him. He rested the notepad on the ground and set the pencil beside it. He closed his eyes. He thought he should write something more about the horrors of his deeds, or that he should write anything at all to keep himself awake, but soon his thoughts led him into a guilty, drunken sleep.
The girl had not been sleeping. She was waiting in the cold night with her eyes closed and her feet very close to the fire. She moved like half frozen straw unbending itself and put the palm of her good hand on the ground, then rolled over onto her knees. In this way, she shuffled very deliberately for a quarter of an hour before she finally closed the gap between herself and gunslinger. She knew the shotgun was beneath his head, under the saddle. Once she had shot him, she would stoke the fire until it was huge and warm, then she would read what the man had written in his little book, knowing she had avenged her mother. But then she thought. What if he wakes? Did he unload the gun? Is he the only man that can save me out here? And then she thought of the man’s notepad. What if I read something that makes me regret killing this man? Am I a killer at all? Even a killer of bad men? She forgot the shotgun and sat on her heels. She looked at the man. He was sleeping with his legs crossed and arms at his sides, his body angled up like a bent finger. She picked up the notepad and the pencil and took them back around the firepit, quicker this time, all the way to the place where she rested before. If he’s a bad man, I’ll kill him, she thought. But I won’t bother with the gun. I’ll smash the bottle on his head and kick the fire on him. She read the little book back to front until it was finished, then she sat awake with her eyes closed, thinking of her mother.
In the first light of day, the gunslinger readied the horse. He was anxious for having fallen asleep, but grateful the girl was there, and that they were both alive. He looked at the girl's face, frosted red in the new morning, and the thin strands of black hair over her eyes like strings from spiders of another world. The gunslinger poured a sip of liquor into his hand and bent down to the girl. He wafted his palm under her tiny nose. “I know you’re gonna to wake up hurtin’. Let’s just get it in ya.” His voice, a father waking his daughter to attend Easter Day church service. The girl didn’t need to hear him. She had not slept. She had taken some time in the night to experiment with ways she could maneuver her injured shoulder without stirring the pain. She found those ways to be very few, but in her experimenting, she became accustomed to the particular nature of the pain, and now it bothered her very little. She lay, a stack of wasted thews in the dirt, playing as though the night’s alcohol had her sick. The gunslinger sucked the liquor from his hand, then fed the girl four handfuls of snow. She knew he was seeing past her farce, but once committed to the performance, she thought she should not abandon it. For the last few minutes before they rode out of camp, she steadily lowered the drama in her acting by allowing her features to awaken one at a time. Soon, however, real exhaustion settled in behind her eyes.
Now they were both on the horse, the gunslinger with one hand at the girl’s side to see she did not fall. He sensed her balance with the thick muscles in his back, and there, he felt the hard diamond pendant of her necklace between them. The girl cried softly, in shorter and shorter spans, each separated from the last by about five minutes, and soon she fell into a perfect dream of when she was young. Her father building a homestead in Pueblo with aid from the Freemasons of lodge seventeen. Day fifty of the project. Men putting copper nails into slate shingles to form a roof. At night, a big canvas tent, a black iron stove, and her mother knitting something brown. Chicken soup on boil. Her father sitting on a crate, reading from a small blue book with a gold diamond emblem on the cover. His lips moved silently as he read over the same passage many times. “Father,” she asked him. “How will you ever remember so many words?”
“With patience and focus," he said in his kind, easy voice.
“Can I help you get more patience and more focus?” she asked in juvenile earnest. She wanted all the time to help her family. Being useful to them was the most important thing to her.
“Leave your father be, Caroline,” her mother said without pausing her knitting. “He must pass his test to repay the debt we owe to the men who’ve helped us. And he has only the days left in this month to prepare.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the girl said. Her mother was going to say something more, to give the girl some menial, well-intended distraction to go out with, but before she could speak, the girl awoke in Trinidad, in the bronze light of early evening.
“Ma’am, we’ve made it to the doctor’s,” the gunslinger said as he dismounted, still keeping one hand at the girl’s side, then taking her by the waist to let her down. Her face turned sour as she relived the events of the day past, but she did not cry. The gunslinger led her into the doctor’s building. He waited outside and smoked as she was inspected. The sun drew down, and he heard the sounds of brass music and women singing somewhere in the town. He finished his third cigarette. I’m sick of smoking, he thought, then touched his jacket pocket for the notepad, but did not feel it there. His hands shook as his mind swelled with a haunted, spectral feeling, like a man who had forgotten to do something very important, now remembering exactly what it was he failed to do. His fractured lips hung open and his vacant eyes did not distinguish the sights before him. Blue spaces beneath his eyes where he stored his self contempt. In his mind, he felt only the screams of the women in the stagecoach. He knew the final farewell between the girl and her mother had been one of confusion and suffering, whereas the lives they shared must have been full of love and joy. But those lives would be no more. The life of the mother, forever extinguished. The life of the daughter, forever sickened. And his reflection of their lives, forever unpolished, truthfully, never having been drawn out.
The girl and the gunslinger stood in the orange mountain dusk. She wore the doctor’s spare medical coat with only her good arm inside its sleeve. A leather sling fondled her arm and kept it tucked under her small chest. White bandages wrapped neatly about her head. She looked at the soiled man and examined his corpus to record him precisely in her mind. He was a pitiful thing, dressed in black rags stained gray from sweat. The hairs on his cheeks were longer now, like bunches of white hypodermic needles. He stood teetering and slouching into himself like an exhausted horse. His lips were almost white. Every inch of him contributed to his foul smell. His eyes were fixed on the frozen mud street, as though there was something down there that he loved and needed. He was not a tall man, but now he seemed even smaller than she, a girl of just sixteen years. She closed her eyes and squeezed soft tears from them. And there they stood, neither looking at the other, but feeling one another’s presence as tightly as stitches. The girl wiped her face with the sleeve on her good arm.
“What’s your name, mister?” she asked. He did not reply nor seem to hear her question at all. “It’s a beautiful evening,” she said. The gunslinger looked west down the road.
“It is,” he said finally, then his gaze dropped to the mud again.
“I’m going to speak with the sheriff now,” she told him. Again, the gunslinger said nothing. She turned away and stood, breathing softly into the wind. After a minute, she faced him again. She took the notepad from her pocket, placed it in his down-turned hand, and closed his fingers around it. The doctor’s coat nearly fell from her shoulders. She reached back to pull it on again. The gunslinger looked at the notepad, then at the small, soft hand that had put it there.
“Thank you, ma’am.”
The girl sprung her good arm forward and bashed the gunslinger on the nose. There was a splintery break as the nose bent and cowered away like a beat dog. This time, the coat did fall from her shoulders, and down into the street. When struck, the man did not stumble or sway, but only closed his eyes. The girl turned and walked, almost running, stamping over the fallen coat and crying out every tear she had left. The gunslinger’s body lost all connectedness. His knees drove holes through the topshell of frozen mud, then he fell forward onto his face. He mewled and wailed pathetically. His cries hacked and bubbled out of him like a boy weeping in a dream, like a man who had never cried before and was just teaching himself how. Tears, blood, and drivel soaked the place where his head lay, and soon there was mud all about his face and mouth, his mind drowning in the anguish of guilt.
“Miss, can you tell me what’s going on?” the sheriff asked the crying girl sitting in his office. He looked at her kindly, taking note of her injuries. He sat down next to her. “Where’s the son of a bitch that hurt you? You tell me, and my men and I will bring that bastard in to face the justice that’s coming to him.” The girl raised a finger to the sheriff. He waited patiently for her to compose herself. She took four deep, shaking breaths, then she spoke.
“My name is Caroline Bloomberg. My mother and I were on the road to Santa Fe to reunite with my father. Of course, we were robbed. I knew it would happen. I just knew it would. My momma… she’s gone. Everyone but me is gone. There was shooting. Loud, loud shots. The driver lost himself and took us right off the road.”
“I’m very sorry to hear this, ma’am.”
“We were so proud to be coming down here. Three months ago, my father went off to expand his business, and finally he wrote to tell us of his success. There was money to hire a stagecoach and men to guard us on the road. We could have brought the whole army, but my momma was raised to be frugal. She thought two riders and her old pistol would be enough to see us safely through.”
“Your mother sounds like a very strong woman. And your father, a good man.”
“They are. She was always strong. She always will be.”
“Did you get a look at the men who robbed you?”
“There was only one.”
“And he?” the sheriff asked. Behind him was a bulletin of bounty posters, and there was a picture of the gunslinger, wearing a clean face with bright eyes.
The girl looked for a while at the picture and at the other bounties posted. Finally, she shook her head. “My father also sent a secret allowance to the Masonic lodge in Pueblo, with instructions to deliver the money to me, so I could buy this.” She took the necklace out from under her shirt and showed it to the sheriff. “My father promised long ago that I should have it. Such a fool of a little girl. I could have hired the men we needed.” The sheriff nodded. He knew the scam—diamond brokers chatting up unsuspecting customers, then telling some local reprobate all about their business. The brokers bought the stolen jewelry back at a rate, and reset the gems into new hardware to disguise their crime. The sheriff thought not to mention these details to the girl, and he hoped she would never learn of the scheme at all.
“I have to ask, ma’am,” he said. “How was it that you were able to save yourself?”
“Just as you say,” she said. “I saved myself.”
Down the road, a crowd of drunkards and children gathered to watch the gunslinger as he seized in the muck. The tall doors of the barn next to the jailhouse flung open, and out came the police stableman to shoo the miscreants away and clear space for the cavalry. The sheriff lent his arm to the girl as they came outside and down the steps of the office building. Other officers filed out of the barn with lanterns fixed to their rifles, swinging their shines against the burgeoning dark. The sheriff helped the girl mount up on an unclaimed horse, then went to fetch his own. The stableman handed the sheriff his rifle and said something to him. The sheriff replied in a low voice that the girl could not hear, then he led a single line of mounted officers away down the frozen road. A moment later, they passed the crying man in the mud.
“Somebody get this drunk bastard out of the street,” the sheriff said. He could not have known the broken man below was in fact Theodore “Buckshot” Blake. His bounty, if seized, would have made the sheriff's career all the way to Lieutenant Colonel of the Colorado Rangers.
The girl now looked at this paltry man in the dirt. He was bent and turned so that she could not see his face. She remembered with satisfaction the feeling of his nose shattering against her hard little knuckles. She wondered if she was making a mistake by not handing the man over to the sheriff right then and there. She thought of the hanging that would ensue. Death might absolve the gunslinger’s soul, and she wanted so much to deprive him of that swift, honest conclusion. So the girl only looked away from the gunslinger, straightened her ladylike back, and rode with dignity, away and out of the town.
One of the drunkards came and kicked the gunslinger hard in the stomach; a brown-nosed effort to earn the good will of the sheriff. Then the gunslinger crawled. Despite his licks, his body was healthy. Yet, truly, it was a sick man that went skulking into the alleyway. Not a drunk, not a beggar, but a scoundrel. A repentant thing with a tattered notepad and only distant memories of love. He sat, leaning against the side of the doctor’s building, and opened the little book. On what he expected to be a clean page, there was written in a hand unlike his own:
Mister, you should thank God I’m not a killer. I could end your life now as you sleep. There is guilt and shame in the words I have read here. Even now your face looks as though it is full of shame. So I will not kill you. Knowing you are a man with a conscience, I will write some memories here so you may know just a small part of the pain you have put into the world.
My mother’s name was Gwyneth. The carriage driver’s name was Maximillian. The riders I did not know but from how they behaved I’m sure they were debaucherous men like yourself. Read those names and remember them. Is this the first time you have been confronted with such information? I hope that it is. I hope I am spoiling some cowardly tradition of yours.
The past days had been the best of my life before you took your action. I have never seen such wildlife as in the hills of Farista, or had such delicious stew as in the town lodge at Colorado City. Mother and I laughed and played bridge. She even allowed me one of her cigarettes each morning with our coffee.
Before your attack, we spoke of my father’s newfound wealth. My mother hoped money would not change the man she married. I assured her such a thing would be impossible. My father is a man of unimpeachable character. He builds great things from almost nothing, just as he built himself. I will see him again soon, but he will never again see his wife. They will never again do the things they did to bring me into this world. The honeymoon of their lives is over.
You will take me to Trinidad as you say. I know this is true because you hate yourself. You will help me so you might hate yourself less. Or maybe you will go on killing and hating as before, but there can be no doubt you will try. My mind is unclear now, but once I am sober I will decide what to do with you. If I am vengeful, you will suffer. If I am merciful, I imagine you will suffer the more.
Never yours, Caroline Jane Bloomberg, daughter of Gwyneth Hope Bloomberg
He put the little book down. She’s offered me a decision, he thought. A decision is more than a man like me deserves. Should I die to get away from my mistakes? Or should I live, and be with ’em forever? The gunslinger stood up and went to the place where he’d left Whinnie. He saw her coat glinting the last of the day’s light, and when she turned her noble head to nibble at his hands, the shine went away for a moment, but came back brighter on the other side. He stroked her flank and a few tan hairs stuck wet on his palm. “Oooh, sweet sweet,” he sang to her. “Oooh, sweet girl.” He took her by the halter and led her to the stables, where he sold the horse for one hundred dollars. Then he struck a second deal with the stableman to have a bath at his house for five of those dollars back…
Theodore Williams sat in a shady beach cabana with a glass of cherry wine. He watched his wife, Mary, dancing in the waves with her friends. Then the beach at night. Salt wind and talk of life’s fortunes. Splitting up to make love on the beach in pairs, some yards between each couple. The ocean, very loud. The waves, eerie, yet prophesied. Perhaps eerie because they are prophesied and each wave is a prophecy of death. Moonlight the only light in the twisted air. Theodore, a man disturbed by the taste of happiness and love, yearning for his natural end, unable to indulge what ought have been his greatest pleasure, but a man who, with each day that passed, was becoming closer to the thing he would have been. In the morning, he wrote:
Apr 1 1871 Mary wants me to write more The person this woman is She is beautiful The sand never all gets off her She reads poetry ‘Helen Hunt Jackson’ I have never done a poem I bite my hand when I think about doing it But I will write a poem for you my darling
BUCKSHOT BORDEREAU
On a lone farm in Kentucky A boy made friends with rocks Ma said to swears unlucky Pa said to clean your socks Eight teen hundred thirty seven That year was no good Took a flu on December eleven A bad day he understood Shotgun he heards the soil From sprouts a money tree Farmworks too much toil Hed rather eat for free She was down all underneath One evil by his hand She he saved to save him thus And show him his God’s plan
And he put the notepad and the pencil away.

2024.05.29 19:49 antoinemall MCU THEORY - AVENGERS BC - RAMAH TUT - GHOST RIDER

This is a theory I have regarding the reason why all pagan gods, apart from the ones of Norse Mythology, were absent during Infinity Saga.
First of all, I have to admit that this might seem more like a pitch than a theory, but, since my biggest problem with the MCU is that it doesn't feel like a connected shared universe anymore, I want to think that there is a deeper lore that can connect everything, including X-Men, Multiverse, supernatural heroes and street level heroes, filling some very sloppy plot holes, like the existence of all pagan gods all along.
Let's start with Thor: Ragnarok, where we saw a replica of Infinity Gauntlet, dismissed as a fake by Hela. But, what if it wasn't really fake and the Infinity Stones have been used once more in the past?
My theory takes place in Ancient Egypt, where a variant of Kang has come from the future and rules over Egypt by the name of Pharaoh Ramah Tut. In reality, Ramah Tut has chosen this particular point in time with the secret mission to eliminate the first mutant, El Sabah Nur (a.k.a. Apocalypse) and prevent the existence of mutants.
The mission is complete, Apocalypse is killed, but Ramah Tut realizes there is one more mutant to be eliminated, whom he tracks using future tech. The one remaining mutant is revealed to be Firehair, known from the comics as the first mutant to be bonded with the Phoenix.
Ramah Tut's actions enrage the Egyptian Gods and they pick a desperate fight with Ramah Tut, but in the end they lose and are imprisoned by Kang. Two of them, Khonshu and Bast, summon their loyal servants, Moon Knight and Black Panther. Moon Knight is assigned with the mission to gather the rest of the gods to stop Ramah Tut, while Black Panther is instructed to contact Agamotto.
Black Panther goes to the Ancient city of Kamar Taj and meets Agamotto of the Vishanti, the first Sorcerer Supreme and warns him about Ramah Tut. Agamotto realises that Ramah Tut poses a great threat to the balance of the Multiverse. Black Panther tells Agamotto that Bast overheard Ramah Tut about a mysterious woman named Firehair, whom Ramah Tut intends to kill. Agamotto tracks Firehair before Ramah Tut. Firehair says to Agamotto that she has visions of a powerful cosmic force that calls her through dreams wanting to bond with her and Agamotto realises that she is talking about Phoenix Force, the cosmic force that encompasses all life in the universe. He also wanrs Firehair that the Phoenix Force is dangerous and must never come to Earth.
In the meantime, Moon Knight calls a council of all the pagan gods and, while explaining to them about Ramah Tut's threat, the Council is interrupted and attacked by Ramah Tut's army equipped with technology from the future. Chaos reigns, and after most of the gods are captured, die, or flee, in the end only Moon Knight remains, along with Odin and Zeus. Kang's army surrounds them, but they are saved at the last minute by Ghost Rider, who teleports them, by using his demonic powers, to a place Ramah Tut cannot approach.
Moon Knight, Odin and Zeus fight Ghost Rider briefly out of mistrust. Their fight is interrupted by a bunch of, seemingly, martial artists, led by a woman who introduces herself as Fan Fei, the Iron Fist. She explains to them that they have trespassed the hidden city of K'un-Lun and they are not allowed to leave, as her prisoners.
In Kamar Taj, Agamotto, Black Panther and Firehair are attacked by Ramah Tut's army.
In K'un-Lun, Iron Fist remains adamant that she cannot release the prisoners (Odin, Zeus, M.K., G.R.), since she knows that Ghost Rider serves Mephisto, the Lord of Hell. Ghost Rider explains that he has rebelled against his former master, but he knows that Mephisto is deeply afraid of Ramah Tut and, even though he is not a servant of Hell anymore, anyone Mephisto fears must be considered an even greater threat to be dealt with. Iron Fist is reluctantly persuaded and agrees to help them against Ramah Tut.
In Kamar Taj, Black Panther, Agamotto and Firehair, along with Sorcerer's army are overwhelmed by Ramah Tut's highly advanced minions, until they are joined by Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Odin and Zeus. While they manage to turn the tide of the battle in their favor briefly, they soon realize that they still cannot win. At that moment, Agamotto realizes that their only hope is to cast a beacon spell to summon the Phoenix Force, in order to bond with Firehair. He casts the spell, using Firehair's telepathic abilities and she bonds with Phoenix Force. All the heroes perform an epic battle with Ramah Tut and destroy his army.
They surround Ramah Tut but, before delivering the final blow, Ramah Tut manages to escape by mysteriously vanishing.
The heroes form the Avengers BC. Odin falls in love with Firehair. The way I picture it, since there is so much lore building, maybe it could be a TV series called "Avengers BC" and so far we saw the first season.
We see a post-credit scene, where Ramah Tut goes to the past to meet himself ruling over Ancient Egypt to warn himself (now a variant) of the Avengers threat. He tells his variant of a plan to defeat the Avengers, but the variant does not intend to follow him as he is “destined to be a conqueror, not a servant, even to himself”. Rmah Tut says that he will go even more back to his past selves, to which his variant responds “then you’ll make even more enemies”, leading to the so called “Multiversal War” between variants of Kang.
The second season deals with Firehair's Dark Phoenix persona. Initially we see that Firehair and Odin are in a relationship and their daughter, Hella is born (since we never learned who was Hella's mother in the MCU).
While Hella grows to become a great warrior, her mother FirehaiPhoenix begins to feel trapped in the family situation and wishes to be free. This is why she starts to become unstable and thus the persona of Dark Phoenix emerges. Since they are not married, Odin makes her a romantic marriage proposal but she angrily refuses and breaks up with Odin. Even more, some time later, Odin learns that she has started to sleep occasionally with Zeus and begins to deeply hate them both. I imagine the love triangle between Firehair, Odin and Zeus as the one between Jean Grey, Cyclops and Wolverine respectively.
In the end, Dark Phoenix persona takes over completely and Agamotto gathers the Avengers BC once more. Zeus reconciles with Odin, but does not apologize and so, they all manage to defeat FirehaiDark Phoenix, with the help of a young witch named Freja (Thor’s mother, as she has said she was brought up by witches, she can be introduced as a student of Kamar Taj). Firehair dies. The team is disbanded, but they remain in history books and legends as the team of heroes that saved the Earth from Ramah Tut and Dark Phoenix. Odin is depressed and Hella is so traumatized by the bad experience with her mother and that’s why she grows up to be obsessed with killing and destruction. Odin pretends to be okay with Zeus, but in reality he begins to plan how to destroy him.
We see two post-credit scenes
  1. Odin goes to meet Eitri and the Dwarves, to ask him to make him a weapon to destroy Zeus and all the other gods, since gods have agreed to make a pact together and killing each other will in no case be tolerated, which is why Odin might need a weapon to destroy them all eventually. Eitri proposes the creation of Infinity Gauntlet, but tells Odin that he’ll need the stones.
  2. Charles Xavier (P. Stewart) is seen talking to the X-Men about the upcoming incursion with the MCU, explaining to them that MCU reality is a branching reality from their universe (Fox’ X-Men) created by the death of Firehair and Apocalypse, leading to a universe with no mutants and that, the only hope they have in the incursion is the nexus being known as the “Scarlet Witch”.
And now, here is the theory. Odin manages to gather most of the stones, with the help of his psychopathic daughter Hela, whom he is forced to stop and imprison, since she was reminding him of his love for Firehair. Then, he starts a new family with Freja, Thor is born and Loki is adopted. He enlists the help of the Eternals, after striking a deal with Sersi and Ikarus, he gathers the last stone and makes all other gods disappear. He lies to Freja and Thor that the gods have simply left, the Eternals replace them as gods of humans as part of the deal (to deliver their own secret goal for the Celestials).
When Bruce Banner snapped his fingers to make everyone come back, he also accidentally brings the gods back (remember when they say that they should be very careful with the words they are going to think or say when they are using the stones). That’s why they are present in Thor: Love and Thunder. They didn’t even know that Odin made them disappear, but after the events of Thor 4, Zeus realizes what Odin had done and wants Hercules to avenge the gods and kill Thor.
This theory could fix everything, as it can be a solid plot device to bring together the Avengers (through Black Panther), street level heroes like the Defenders (through the new Iron Fist), the Midnight Sons (through the new Ghost Rider) and the Fox' X-Men, against the imminent arrival of Kang.
And that is my theory as to how everything can be fixed in the MCU. I also have a theory for Kang’s origin and the Multiversal War, the Beyonders, the F4 etc, but, I will post it another time.
What do you guys think?

2024.05.29 17:22 Own-Cycle5851 Wolfram's theory of existence

Good evening fellow ex people, . . I've recently stumbled upon Stephen Wolfram's theory of existence. And I wanted to share the notes I got with you. Sorry for the heavy scientific terminologies that will follow, you might need to Google them. Especially in fields such as pure maths, computer science, game theory and thermodynamics. . .
Cellular automata .
. Imagine a grid of square cells. They are filled with values, alive being 1, dead being 0. A cell is assigned 1 or 0 based on its neighbors, 8 surrounding cells. If there are less than 2 cells, underpopulation, the cell dies. If more than 3 cells, overcrowding, the cell dies, if exactly 3 are around each other, reproduction, it gives life to the dead cell. Now let this game play with an initial state of any 1s and 0s of your choice on the grid and leave it running for 10, 20, 1000 generations. It will generate all sorts of chaotic unpredictable output. There's an actual game of this concept called "Conway's game of life". But you can't play it because it's a Zero-player game. You just decide the initial condition and the rules. Now Stephen Wolfram, had this similar game called Celular automata, it has only one row of 8 bits (1 dimensional instead of game of life's 2D). It is in fact borrowed from nature as cells do behave in such manner. Stephen studied his cellular automaton, and said well, I can make 256 rules out of the 8 bits (28), each rule being an encryption of that row and gives us the next generation. He found 4 categories of these 256 rules: .
Class I Boring Uniformity, the cells generate uniform predictable structure or go extinct. .
Class II Crystals, repititive with complex structure (more common in nature) .
Class III Chaotic, unpredictable complexity .
Class IV Rules that generate a part of the space as static, uniform. And another part that is random and complex. . .
Turing machine .
. Now imagine a machine that has only one job, we feed it a tape that has rows of symbols, and it encrypts them according to a certain rule, (11101100->10111110). This machine has memory that stores instructions of the rule and a computation unit that moves its head forward on the tape and stores the result of the encryption. This is a Turing machine!, yeah, WW2, lead the British to victory. But it's the single most important discovery in computer science. . Imagine feeding an infinite tape to the turing machine with all the states of particles and strings in the universe. Just like a celular automaton, let it compute the next state. It would have all the freaking power in the world to simulate existence from any arbitrary observation start state to the current. Don't mind the name, but the Church-Turing thesis states that, no form of computation can surpass a Turing machine at its efficiency in computing the outcome of a certain input. You just can't predict the future you have to simulate it. That's why our science is always susceptible to mistakes and wrong assumptions. We can do lots of stuff with Turing machines though such as finite state machines, which limits the computation to states we can observe, and results that we really do care about. LLMS such as ChatGPT follow a similar principle of capturing the world as discrete states and encrypting the next one. . .
The Ruliad .
. We humans don't capture the functioning of this universal Turing machine and the rules that govern it. Our perception is measured in milli seconds, we tend to average whatever the hell happened in between. Algorithms follow the same principle of reduction which might be efficient in Class I and II in cellular automota. However, Stephen talks about irreducible computation, class III and IV, stuff that seem random but they have a certain rule that govern them, we just can't understand it, we have to simulate it. The more we know, the more rules of this Ruliad become obvious to us. . .
Second law of Thermodynamics .
. Let's talk about Entropy Get a punch of gas molecules and put them in a corner of a chamber. After waiting a bit, you observe that the gas expands to fill the whole chamber. The gas went from ordered to random. Now you can't find the location of each molecule. This change in randomness is called entropy. The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy is always Increasing. Everything is moving through time from a less random state to more random and complex ones. . .
Emergent complexity .
. Let's go back to Conway's game of life. People are still obsessed about this game since the 70s. And they created all sorts of exotic structures such as moving objects, logic gates and even computer architectures. How does such a complexity emerge from this simplicity? How do ants form a colony but one ant dies alone. How does our brain learn by just the firing of electrochemical potentials between the neurons. And... How did ChatGPT become so powerful? It's the emergent complexity of simple rules. Put a million ants together and they dig tunnels and make storage rooms and pave roads with tree leaves. Put a gazillion droplet of water together and they make a waterfall. . .
The material universe, an infinite state machine .
. So, existence is a zero-player game with an ever increasing entropy. Each discrete state of the game is governed by transition rules. The flow of time is the computation time of each rule that takes existence from a start state in the past to a final state in the future. .
Who put the start state? Every moment could be a start for the computation, it's your observation that is bound by a finite continuous on/off stream. But it's been going like that for, well.. infinity, (First law of thermodynamics, Matter cannot be destroyed or..... you know the rest of the law) .
Who put the rules? The rules are embedded in the simplest form of existence itself. It's just that our perceived randomness of the world around us lead us to assume supernatural powers to explain emergent complexities of the very simple Ruliad that governs this existence. Here's a rule, an electric field generates a magnetic field when it moves in space. It's not conceivable to have a moving electric charge without having a magnetic field around it. The Ruliad is just the encryption of the state of matter itself, not an entity separate from it. .
I should however mention that Stephen takes a step back here, and contemplates the possibility of not having a closed thermodynamic system, where outside hands flow energy into the universe. (Which would fuck up the laws of thermodynamics and the world as we know it) But, I wonder if science still needs a remnant from the past to remind us about our doubts and speculate that, a player may exist after all.

2024.05.29 08:56 cineva01 Jesus explains the terms body, spirit and soul

THESE three words have often been mentioned in My
messages and you have already a general notion of the
meaning of “body”, “spirit” and “soul”, as well as what they
mean in a special, spiritual sense.
Since in all My words there lies something infinite, and always
something new and spiritual can be drawn from them, we will try to
extract from these same words another meaning, which may perhaps be
just as important as the former, or even higher and more sublime.
Since My instructions are always given step by step, the
explanation of body or matter as imprisoned spirits in the same, or as
My thoughts and ideas fixed in matter, is in keeping with your former
power of comprehension. Now that you have become more mature and
have cast deeper glances into the secrets of My creation, I will illumine
for you this word body” from a different aspect, thus informing you of
a new field for the enlightenment of your soul and the preservation of
your spirit. From this you can see that, although I repeat words
previously used and explained, I can always find other aspects of it
apart from the earlier given explanations so that you can discover in the
subject new wonders and new proofs of My love and wisdom. Indeed,
if I wanted to try, turning around this word a thousand more times, I
would keep showing new aspects to your surprised eyes. But to the
point.
As I have explained to you in earlier messages, “body” was always
identical with “matter”, and I showed you that also in matter there is
really nothing material, but only bound Spiritual. Or I told you that
matter constitutes My fixed thoughts and ideas which remain matter or
body as long as I do not withdraw My thoughts and ideas enclosed and
embodied in the same.
All these explanations are correct, firstly, because they designate
what is true and, secondly, because it was I who gave them to you.
However, if we want to understand this concept of “matter” or
“body” from a different aspect, I first ask you: What does the word “body” actually signify?
Look, in order to be thorough and then move upward step by step
on the great gamut of My creations and of My Being itself, we must
first establish the concept of a word and not thoughtlessly stop with the
utterance of the word “body” without a closer description of its nature.
Well then, let us begin like the pupils as they learn how to read, with
the alphabet.
The word “body” actually denotes a separate thing with
dimensions according to width, length and depth, which is a complete
and separate, self-contained thing amidst the limitless infinity.
Thus the body is a something that occupies a space and has an
envelopment whereby its individual being is separated from the entire
universal All-Being.
Notwithstanding all this, a body can experience all degrees of
density and weight, it can be infinitesimally fine, imponderable for
you, but on the other hand be found compressed to the most solid rock
like granite, called original substance of the terrestrial body’. It always
remains a body, a separate something, which can assume dimensions
which in the volatile state are immensely great but in the solidified
state extraordinarily small; they can then through the urge of attraction
and annexation of similar bodies form rocks, earths, worlds, solar
regions etc.
Therefore, body as a word is the expression for something that
physically exists on its own and has become, separated from the All-
Being, an entity existing independently.
The body is divisible ad infinitum, where your eyes and
instruments fail to serve you. However, it still exists with its
dimensions on all three sides, albeit no longer comprehensible for you,
just like the borderline where its divisibility ceases and the Spiritual
imprisoned in it has its beginning.
Without bodies there would not exist a visible creation!
There are bodies or substances that are transparent and
imponderable, such as light and electricity; however, they are so only for your eyes, but not for the eyes of the spirits.
For your eyes everything that transmits the light-ray, not reflecting
the same from its surface, is invisible. But consider, you do not see the
objects or the light falling on them, but you see them only through the
light-ray reflected from them.
You cannot see a light-ray fleeing out into infinity.
Therefore, when something has a body of very little density, it is
nonexistent for your eye. And if it were not for chemistry, which shows
you several “elements”, you would believe to be dealing only with one,
as for instance with the air in which you live, which you breathe,
chemically breaking it up in the lungs and extracting the vital substance
contained there, then exhaling what is used up or carbonized.
All these components are non-existent for your eyes whereas for
your body they are perceptible. For, if “the salt of the air” or, as you
say, oxygen is lacking and only carbon is present, life ceases for you
and every living being that only inhales the latter falls prey to death.
The same applies to the third main element of air, nitrogen.
But in the air are contained still a great many other substances all
of which have bodies but are imperceptible to your senses.
That which in the air is already denser, is found in the ether in a
more refined form and the closer the air to the earths surrounded by it,
the coarser and denser the particles it contains. In the water it solidifies
to liquid and even to ice, since thus condensed air without warmth has
become a dense, compact body.
Beginning with water, the stages of solidification progress to the
most solid and heavy metals and rocks contained in the earth.
These things, extracted and separated from the All-Being and
called “bodies”, represent on an orderly scale the entire creation of My
fixed thoughts, where, beginning with the first imponderable yet
physical atom, I constructed the whole gamut of things, one more
perfect then another, up to Myself, throughout all the solar regions and
shell globes up to My highest heaven, where even the finest
envelopments of My creational thoughts have still some corporeality which, however, measured with your senses, would be something
utterly spiritual!
The existence of this entire physical world is affected in the
following way:
As like spirits prefer to associate, so all the elemental substances
or bodies of like nature cannot resist the great urge of the force of
attraction and in accordance with My indwelling creational thought
join together in a certain measure, sometimes assuming definite forms
thought by Me, and again sometimes showing themselves to the
physical eye in irregular shapes.
Thus this whole world of bodies is united through the same bond
of love though each one is separate from the other, and is the visible
and invisible carrier of My thoughts, or, the spark of My Spirit laid into
them is more or less bound within them.
That which impels these bodies to attract or repel each other in
accordance with certain laws, to assume this or that form is the
indwelling urge received from Me, and is actually the spirit imprisoned
in matter. For “spirit” (here nature spirit) or “natural force”, as you call
it, are the same thing.
Spirit is the essential urge inherent in every body to preserve its
form, which it has shaped according to its intelligence, for as long as
the existence of the physical envelopment corresponds to the
indwelling spirit.
It is the encased spirit that, beyond all transience such as your
natural force, makes the body what it really is.
If the body suffers a change, the nature spirit indwelling it escapes,
breaking up into spirit particles or uniting with other like (nature)
spirits to form a higher spirit on the gamut of My creation, and in
keeping with its intelligence clothes itself with a different body.
The formerly cohesive matter or body in changing then partly
ascends and partly descends a step.
The Spiritual in the body incites it to change and the spirit,
following its urge, again complies with another creational thought by eading back the matter purified to substance (soul substance) to its
origin, or, uniting it with other bodies which are on a higher level, as
the abode of intelligent spirits brings it closer to perfection in My great
Universe.
What actually is spirit?
Apart from the above-mentioned, by this word one really
understands something incorporeal.
Also certain liquids when highly refined and broken up develop an
ætheric fluid, either in a natural or chemical way, which can no longer
be perceived by way of the coarser senses, only sometimes through the
olfactory nerves.
But it is not this kind of “spirit” which I want to explain to you, for
this is still a body, although of a refined kind.
What I mean by spirit is an efflux out of Me, an offshoot of My
divine strength which, however limited in its sphere of action, is
nevertheless something indestructible, never-to-be annihilated.
It is these “nature spirits” that hold together the entire creation,
securing its actual existence and eternal permanency, for, being
emanations from Me, they must be immortal as I Myself am.
Spirits bound in matter or in bodies are the bottom layer of
creation, its foundation-pillars, without them there would not exist a
body and the light of the sun would lose itself in infinity. For only by
preserving the bodies” existence and enabling them to present compact
surfaces to the light in every possible form, do they effect by means of
the partly absorbed and partly reflected light the thousands upon
thousands of splendors of so-called mute nature, in contrast to the
enlivened, great spiritual one.
The body exists through its indwelling spirit; the spirit, as a spark
of Myself, then manifests on the higher levels of the living organism as
a higher potency of more or less self-awareness, namely, as a “soul”.
The spirit animates the body, imparting to it the great life
principle, from the lowest imprisoned spirit gradually to rise higher and
with the help of an animating soul, in more highly evolved bodies to become more and more aware of its existence and able to share the joy
of life also with other beings.
This is the third step in the gamut of creation, the rank of the soulendowed
beings where the spirit, already more liberated, has built for
itself another intelligent abode in the matter serving as body with the
help of which it can express itself better, as well as use its material
abode more to its own liking.
This soul life begins with the most primitive animals, most of
which, apart from the ingeniously arranged body, in accordance with
their individuality have also the advantage of enjoying the freedom of
movement.
Here the body appears already as servant, and not as lord, as in the
mineral kingdom.
The soul uses the same for its preservation and its vital needs, of
course still guided by the spirit as “instinct” or leading-string of nature
whereby the spirit urges the soul now to do this and now that.
Free movement always implies a higher degree of intelligence; for,
if I allow a soul to move its body more freely, I must certainly endow it
with the impulse as to how, when and for what purpose it is meant to
move the same.
In this gamut of freely moving corporeal beings it is now an
upward movement, an attempt to reach that level where the spirit offers
to the machine or the body the most sublime gift the Creator could
make, namely, the greatest possible spiritual intelligence. And, finally,
the soul, aware of its place in creation, recognizes its origin and,
having elevated the tiny spiritual, divine spark encased in the last atom
to a power in full self-awareness, now gazes upward and only then
begins to understand its origin and descent from the Most High.
This keystone of the entire world of bodies, spirits and souls is
man, whom I created in My image and placed as a compendium of
everything else between two worlds, the physical and the spiritual, with
the urge by means of his soul to spiritualize his physical world, to open
to his spirit endowed with all divine attributes the door to the Most
High. And so, through the influence of the spirit, the soul may one day become a spirit and the body, instead of being its material
envelopment, its spiritual one which then would represent all that the
body possessed physically, thus spiritualized becoming a physical
vehicle of the most sublime substance and the most glorious garment
for the most noble human spirit!
Here, My dear children, you have the great gamut of My creation,
beginning with the first nascent atom and the most minute monad and
ending with My last work, man, where the same process begins
spiritually, up to My highest heavens, where the purest spirits with the
finest light-bodies use what they can of your physical substance from
the space of creation, purified to the highest possible degree, as an
outer envelopment of their God-souls, in the same way as you use your
body which is composed of coarse substances.
The road there is a long but not impossible one.
Endeavor, My children, to become that for which I destined you on
this gamut, that means to rise to the limit of the physical-material, to
the first beginning of the spirit-world where the door to light and
cognition will open spontaneously and where you will behold before
you the limitless spiritual world and behind you the never-ending
physical world, or “world of senses” and in the midst of all this – Him,
who created everything and whose only joy is when His created beings
have learnt to call Him, whom they call “Lord” and “God” – “Father”.
Once you will be able to take in all this at a glance, He is no longer
far from you, He who will prove to you despite your past sufferings
and battles that without all those earthly tribulations you would not be
where you really enjoy the quintessence of the world of body, spirit and
soul; a fatherly love which only He can let you feel who again here
with these three words wants to give you a small proof of how much
He wishes, that you, following His precepts, may let go of everything
worldly-physical and only strive after His heavenly bliss! Amen.

2024.05.28 11:22 cineva01 Jesus explains heaven, hell and earth

YOU asked Me for three words and, it goes without saying,
for their explanation. Well, I gave you these three
significant words: heaven, hell and earth. Now we will see
what can be extracted from these three words that may be
elevating, edifying and instructive for you, as well as for
mankind as a whole.
The first of the three words signifies the greatest, so that even you,
when saying it, must raise your voice and lend greater tension to your
vocal cords, if you want to pronounce this word in the manner it
deserves to be pronounced.
Do you know what you really utter when pronouncing this word?
No, you do not know it but can only surmise; for look, “Heaven” is and
signifies the highest abode, as dwelling of the highest spirits, and also
My more permanent abode. Heaven is the sum total of all beatitudes,
where all the spirits in the purest light, without faults, striving only for
My sublime personal attributes, lead a life of bliss which here you
cannot ever understand and hardly ever imagine.
There are certainly in these places various degrees of perfection.
Indeed, the process of perfecting never ceases since I, continually
creating something new, allow new spheres of action to develop.
Issuing from heaven, all the life-sparks out of Me travel via My
greatest angel spirits to the lowest strata where only a spark of Myself
dimly glimmers, encased in heavy matter. In the heavens, which lie far
beyond all the shell globes and materially created solar systems, eternal
peace and eternal love are radiating and, since the first fundamental
principle of the sublime spiritual life is to imitate My attributes and out
of love for Me to fulfill My commands and wishes, the highest bliss is
reigning there.
In the highest heavens, where eternal harmony of the spirits
prevails, there are also simplicity, humility and neighborly love in their
highest perfection, the expression of which I Myself Am. There I have arranged My abode, as it should be in accordance
with My thoughts and wishes in the whole of creation and as it will be
after countless eons, when all that is lost spiritually, having found
itself, and purified by trials, through conflicts will have found its way
back to Me.
Once this is the case, all the worlds, as I have once said, will be
transformed. For then they all have as schools of trial and purification
fulfilled their purpose and accomplished everything. Of course, for
higher spiritual beings they must then be differently arranged and
equipped with greater radiance, splendor and beatitudes, so that these
very same purified spirits will find new material for their further
perfection, their higher spiritual maturity. For infinite is space, infinite
are the grades of perfection, and infinite Am I Myself – as the supreme
All in all!
This spiritual heaven, where eternal, mild light of grace out of
Me flows into all spirits, where the purest harmonies breathe into
the spiritual ears and hearts the greatest longing for Me, is the
quintessence of My unlimited love, expressed in sounds, colors
and words.
There, all live in all, and every one is only happy in the happiness
of another!
The greatest exaltation, be it in prayer, in poetry or in song, of
which you human beings on this earth are capable and which, as you
express it, “carries you to the highest heavens, affording you a foretaste
of a better existence – there in My heavens it is the lowest degree of
bliss, and that as a permanent, not a transient sensation.
I cannot explain and even less make you feel what a spirit feels
there. For you could not bear it in your earthly body and everything on
this earth would fill you with disgust, if you could retain in your
memory but one second of such bliss. This again I tell you only to
encourage you so that you may understand what beatitudes await the
sorely tried as reward for his perseverance and his love for Me.
As I am telling you here of the highest heavens where day does not
alternate with night, cold with warmth or life with death, where an ven, permanent, eternal sea of light surrounds the blissful spirits,
lighting up everything around them, there everything created on other
worlds is in turn displayed spiritually. For instance, you see a flower
whose color delights your eye, whose scent pleases your nerves, but
you do not know its spiritual meaning, its spiritual substance, the
Spiritual flowing up and down in its tiny tubules or veins, all
emanations of a higher nature, beginning with the sun whose light is
the mother of these floral colors and scents, up to the highest and most
refined potencies.
You see, this flower is also found in My heavens, as spiritual
reflection of all that is created. If you could see this flower there – its
form only light, its color only radiance, and its scent in the highest
spiritual correspondence an eternal hymn of praise to its Creator!
Only there would you understand what spiritual contemplation
means, and only then realize how dull your senses are in this world.
However, do not worry about this state of your senses while on this
earth; remember, only the wise hand of your most loving Father has
arranged it so, and although you do not, and cannot ever, wholly
understand His aims, they are always based on the highest wisdom and
love, and there must be grave reasons for the fact that all this bliss will
be yours only after long conflicts and periods of time, and even then
not for all, but only for some (according to their love).
My dear children, if I allowed you to enjoy all this at once (which I
reserve only for those who truly love Me and have striven in all earnest
to become My children), without conflict these inexpressibly great
beatitudes would be without great value and permanent attraction, for
they would not have been your own achievement but only a gift, so to
speak, without any effort on your part, and would only have half the
value and be of short duration.
Only what is gained by effort is enjoyed in full measure, as a due
reward for merit!
What merit has a prince or king born as the son of a king once his
head is adorned by a crown? You can be assured it is of far less
importance to him than those of lesser rank believe. What is such a
hereditary monarch compared to a man who, having battled against all adversities both physical and spiritual, has finally reached his goal,
which he has never lost sight oil The latter is a spiritual giant, whereas
the other perhaps amounts to very little and is sometimes despite his
exalted station a mere non-entity.
For this reason, whosoever wants to become My child for whom I
have reserved the greatest bliss, must earn this name, and only then
will he bless all the sufferings and conflicts which led him to that
degree of bliss where he begins to have an inkling of the spirituality of
all existence and where, in the very fulfillment and performance of all
the duties of an angel, the higher bliss for a created spirit begins.
As I once said that every human being carries the whole universe
within him, he also carries, albeit on the smallest scale, this now
described heaven within.
With every good deed, with every victory gained over his passions,
a ray of light of this little love-heaven from the sphere of the spirit
penetrates into his heart. It is a transient beam, a foreknowledge, a
shouting of the soul for joy, but (alas) not permanent. It is only a
moment when the spirit shows man what he carries within, what will
one day be his, if he faithfully perseveres on the difficult roads of life.
The spirit of man leaves to the soul only a gentle after breeze of it,
nothing else. The ray from the heavens was only a warning call,
meaning:
“Do not waver, but endure! One day you will have for ever what
here only rushes past you with the speed of lightning!”
So do not despair, My children! Heaven is open to you! In order to
encourage you, I let you feel it sometimes, as far as your physical and
spiritual constitution allows. More you cannot bear; and if one of you
were capable of bearing more, in the midst of the other people he
would then be unhappy and instead of pursuing his course diligently he
would be overcome by weariness and despair. Therefore, remember
that I, your Father, in My wisdom have arranged everything in such a
way that My children can bear it and profit from it. Now let us turn to
hell. What I have told you about heaven, more or less the same you can
assume of hell, but – it goes without saying – in the opposite sense. I shall not tell you so much about hell, its organization and nature
because it gives Me no pleasure to think of it and it is of little benefit to
have it described in detail. Suffice it for you to know that it really
exists, and that for My and your disadvantage. However, in order to tell
you at least something about this contrast to My heavens, I will merely
hint at its existence, that is, also in several departments and gradations,
representing evil in various degrees, in their midst the residence of
Satan himself.
Satan, as personified evil, in contrast to Me, is the personification
of all passions, which are opposed to My attributes. Whereas I, for
instance, out of love endeavor to preserve everything, he wants to
destroy everything, out of hatred against everything created, firstly,
because it is created by Me and, secondly, simply because it is created.
If he had his way, he would continually create beings of every
kind, however, not in order to rejoice in their existence, but to rejoice
(satanically) in their destruction, then again, resuming the game, begin
to create anew.
His subordinate spirits who, created by Me as living beings,
became so dark that they only enjoy the darkness, just as My angels
enjoy the light, are according to the intensity of their wickedness closer
to, or further from, Satan and in various sections placed in and on the
earth. There they pursue their (devilish) pleasures, striving to emulate
their master as much as possible; and so it is their greatest pleasure
under all possible kinds of pretences to turn mankind from the good or
better path and onto their wide highway.
Since in them as well as in their master there is only a satanic love,
they take pleasure in planting the same also into the hearts of those
who are willing to listen to them.
There they do not neglect to describe to their victims the world and
its pleasures as agreeable as possible, to engender in them a taste for
cunning, deceit, lust and all low passions, thus making them ready to
be their worthy “brothers”.
You will ask Me: “But how can You, the Creator, allow such
mighty hordes of evil spirits and their master to continue to exist? Why do You not with one word of command destroy such beings who are so
opposed to the gentle drawing of Your love and Your divine attributes,
and besides – why did You banish them into and onto the earth of all
places, while millions of other earths and suns are orbiting around in
infinity, whose inhabitants can take to their roads of betterment and
purification unhindered, without being exposed to such torment? Why
is it only we, whom You call “Your children’, for whose sake You
came down to this small globe, where You suffered for their sake; why
are we the ones who are on the one hand the privileged, but on the
other hand the most severely tried and exposed to all seductions and
temptations?”
My dear children! This complaint made by you as people of this
your earth is, seen from your side, quite natural and I have to justify
Myself for it so that you, although it does not look like it, nevertheless
recognize that I Am always the most loving and benevolent Father,
have at all times arranged everything only for your benefit and shall
always conduct everything for the welfare of My children.
In an earlier (the preceding) word I have mentioned a fallen angel
who pulled along an uncountable number of other spirits in his fall. In
“The Household of God” I explained to you also that then all his soul
substance was taken from him, divided into particles and bound in
matter, and is now returning to Me gradually on the road of perfection;
furthermore, that all those born on this earth, except for spirits from
other worlds, who had been transplanted here in order to become My
children, are parts of the fallen one that also have to take the same road
as all spirits bound in matter.
I also said that this very same fallen angel spirit was banned to
where My plant nursery for My heavens is located, namely, into the
earth, and that he is there most active, in opposition to Me and My
ordinance.
Look, all this I have explained to you earlier, and also the “why” –
why the greatest temptations and dangers must be exactly where spirits
and souls have taken on the task of attaining to My Kingdom, carrying
right through hell and damnation the cross of suffering and love in My
honor and to shame My great adversary; and that despite all seductions and seeming comforts heaped upon his future pupils by Satan, so as to
ensnare them, while later making them pay for every pleasure and
every comfort with a thousand torments of hell, there are still souls on
this earth who defy all his temptations, turn their back on all his grand
promises, do not want to belong to him but solely to Me and amid
suffering and conflict hold high the banner of faith, humility and love!
When Satan apostatized from Me, I had to leave him and his
whole following their individual freedom, which every spirit needs so
that as a free spirit he may become worthy of Me.
The conversion to Me must occur from within and voluntarily, not
under coercion. For this very reason I must tolerate the behavior of this
My greatest adversary including his brood and let them do as they like,
as long as they do not interfere with My established order.
The fact that whatever they do, the result will always be the
opposite of what they originally had intended, is the triumph of the
good cause since also the evil, even the worst that creation has to show,
must and can only contribute towards its (and their) own betterment
and the furthering of what is good generally.
For this very reason Satan with his realm is banned to that place
where he has a chance to try everything possible to defend his lifetheory
against Mine. Indeed, he was even permitted to personally tempt
Me during My earthly sojourn, Me, who was not a created spirit, but
the Creator of all that is created (including himself). Since I did not
avoid him when he met Me as a man, exposed to all human passions,
he dared to tempt also the Most High, which was allowed him. But
with what result you know, namely, that he might gradually realize on
a great and on a small scale that all his effort is in vain and that through
so many eons he has been resisting in vain the One who had created
him and who, would he return today repenting, would receive him with
open arms like a “prodigal non”, as I have already told you in “The
Twelve Hours’, and that it will not happen all at once, but gradually
and with certainty.
When I said of My heavens that every human spirit carries
them within him on a small scale, thus also the germ of bell or the inclination to sin and act contrary to My order, or hell in miniature, is
in every man’s breast
It is there because virtue, without the recognition of its opposite,
vice, would not be a virtue, and love without the opposite, not love! If
darkness did not exist, you would not appreciate light, if it were not for
the freezing effect of cold, you could not understand the pleasant
feelings of the gradually entering warmth.
Therefore, where My “children-plant-nursery” is, there also had to
be the school of the overcoming and subduing of all passions!
What would life be without conflict? A monotonous passing of
periods of time, without an awareness of the coming of one and the
passing of another. Life would have no purpose, no spice!
Just as the salt in all your foods, in all herbs, metals, plants and
even in the air and in your stomachs because of the proper digestion
constitutes an important component, which incites to life and through
this incitement furthers the same, the salt of spiritual life is the
temptation, or the tendency to think and act differently from the way
one actually should. Through this very contrast or this incitement the
better part of your Self is strengthened and the physical and spiritual
life within you is sustained through this food, its continuance is assured
and the enjoyment of having attained to another, new degree of
perfection, and that through conflict and self-denial, whereas you
would not become aware of progress if you advanced without
obstacles.
When the sun in the morning sends its first rays over the pastures
of the earth, the whole living nature shouts with joy in answer. Every
being, each in its own way, twitters, coos and hums its hymn of praise
to the light and its Giver. Even the dewdrop attached to the leaf of a
moss plant, clothing itself with diamond brilliance, mirrors the great
hemisphere of light arched above it and in its radiance as it were
rejoices at the daylight returning after the darkness! – Why? Because
from one evening to the next morning the night, or darkness, had let all
living creatures feel the value of the light!
Thus it is also in a spiritual respect. The soul of a created being recognizes the sweet awareness of spiritual love, spiritual progress and
of a spiritual, higher soul-life only when it has come to know the
chasms and wrong paths threatening on its road of trial. Only after the
soul has advanced a small step does it take pleasure in the same and
renews all its strength for the attainment of the next. And so the
incentive, enjoyment and bliss are enhanced, not so much with the
better condition gained, but on account of the obstacles overcome.
You see, My children, what would all the heavens mean without
hell! And how much other beings in other suns and earths miss in bliss,
which is reserved only for My children, because the other beings in
other suns and worlds know only light and little or no darkness!
Do you still want to complain that hell is so close to you, even
within you? Or would you not rather, thanking Me, ask Me maybe for
more hell, so that you may be able to battle and suffer even more so as
to deserve in even greater measure to be called “My children”?
So set your minds at rest. I know what you need for your trialschool;
do not ask for more than what you are given by Me, and be
assured, you have enough with what My loving hand imposes on you;
where it more, it would be a punishing hand and this I, as your Father,
do not have!
Now I have shown you how even the totally evil, indeed, the most
evil in the whole of creation, with all its actions is still used and
exploited by Me for the benefit of all that lives and how Satan with his
henchmen, instead of harming Me, on the whole must contribute to the
greatest good. So let us now pass to your abode, “the earth”, as the
third, above mentioned word, so that there you may again see the love
and wise prudence of your Father in its whole glory. (Note by the
Translator: For the sake of clarity in the following paragraphs the
original German terms for “heaven”, “hell” and “earth” are retained,
with the English terms added in brackets). When pronouncing the word
“Himme1” (heaven), where you have to raise the pitch of your voice
while having to lower it when pronouncing “Hölle” (hell), you will
have noticed that each of these words requires a different movement of
the vocal muscles, and look, it is again different in the pronunciation of
the word “Erde” (earth), where you have to open your mouth wide (three different tones. The Ed.). Look, in the pronouncing of these
words in your language, including the movements of the vocal organ,
everything is arranged in such a way that spirits who are more familiar
than you are with the correspondence formulas of creation, find fully
expressed in the movements of the oral muscles what one or the other
pronounced word signifies. When pronouncing the word “Himmel”
(heaven) you have seen that the raising of the vocal pitch corresponds
to the closer description of the same. When pronouncing the word
“Hölle” (hell) where the mouth has to be closed like a cave, you will
not fail to see the close connection between this muscular movement
and the description of hell, where by the way the word “Himmel”
(heaven) is pronounced with an upward glance and the word “Hölle”
(hell) with a downward glance - certainly never upward, and finally
“die Erde” (earth) by opening the mouth broadly and looking straight
ahead. Having discussed the first two, what remains to be scrutinized is
merely the last word broadly pronounced, with its spiritual
correspondence, and earth itself as your abode. The fact that in
pronouncing the word “Erde” (earth) the mouth has to be pulled
horizontally to the corners and the lips must move upward showing the
rows of white teeth, has a spiritual correspondence to the earth, where,
in a spiritual sense, what is softer, namely the flesh, is under restraint,
laying open for consideration the firmer, more compact parts – ethics,
or the teeth. Now look, My dear children, in the spiritual
correspondence the teeth, as firm, bonelike parts, signify the permanent
and first support, both in man and earth, giving a beautiful form to the
face and imparting the moral beauty to man’s whole exterior. As well,
this support creates the inner vitality of the body of the earth itself and
what is beautiful on its surface. The teeth amongst other things signify
also the moral-spiritual and are the first spiritual organ of digestion,
which in worldly life should sift the good from the bad. And as in the
mouth the salt in the digestive juice of the saliva is added after the
crushing of the food through the teeth, correspondingly the salt is the
enticement always to act contrary to the good, and it is your main task
to resist this temptation and finally be the victor.
Here on this earth you receive everything mixed, the good with the
bad, love with hatred, life with death; that is, both easily change their
role with each other, or, in other words, each changes easily into its counter-pole. If you have enough strength to eliminate the wicked and
bad, then evil, no matter how often it assails you, cannot leave a
permanent impression in your soul and will completely disappear in the
beyond, and only what is good will be your actual worth! The fact that
when pronouncing the word “Erde” (earth) you have to open your
mouth wide horizontally, means in correspondence that in a spiritual
respect your earth – albeit physically small – reaches far beyond all
solar galaxies, even as far as My heavens, for this little planet became
firstly the abode of My children, and secondly also Mine, where,
through suffering and death, I became the victor over evil.
If you were a little more familiar with this spirit-language, you
would in every word referring to Me discover the important and far
greater spiritual meaning and not be satisfied with the comprehension
of the word – the bark, so to speak, but feel more joy and bliss at its
inner contents than you could ever have imagined. Then you would
find amongst other things that each people according to its spiritual
level will reveal itself in the words and expressions relating to Me, or
do you think that the languages were invented, as your linguists believe
they can prove? Oh, there you are badly mistaken! The words were not
always made simultaneously with the invented objects and new
requirements of a people, but the language – being a spiritual product –
has always progressed parallel with the spiritual perception of a people.
You can see for yourselves from the history of the nations that with the
spiritual progress or regression of a nation its language likewise
progressed or regressed and with the cessation of a nation also its
language (as a living thing) has utterly ceased.
Language is the expression of the soul. The more exalted and
beautiful the language, the greater the intensity of its expressions.
However, this can only be appreciated by spirits, or those enlightened
by My love and grace, who discover behind the various movements of
the muscles of the mouth and larynx, among the twittering, clicking,
trilling and whistling sounds which in this and that combination form
one or the other word, a higher, spiritual meaning which has become
for you incomprehensible like the hieroglyphs – of a lost Paradise.
Thus the earth is also in this different from many other worlds.
Whereas in these only one language prevails and all created beings pursue one and the same path, there are on earth thousands of different
languages, as offshoots of a single one. And in this way the dweller on
this earth, in addition to many tests of his patience and perseverance, is
also burdened with this task, namely, that when he wants to
communicate with the brothers of other nations, he must learn their
language in order to convey his thoughts and feelings to them; or, if he
wants to learn something from his foreign brother, or tell him
something, he must make himself understood in that language.
Wherever you look on earth, beginning with the most primitive
peoples up to you civilized nations, you see the small earth with its
restless spirits spread itself beyond everything known. Of course, the
main motivation with the crowd is always self-seeking. However, in
this way the nations are brought together, they come to know each
other and learn to appreciate and love each other.
Those who investigate nature, the stars, the inside and surface of
the earth, impart their knowledge about the thing which out of My
grace I let the individual find, as common knowledge to mankind.
Without realizing it, they carry out only My plans, not theirs, and so I
educate the souls of this earth, which was once for a short time also My
abode, to a better life.
Now the thoughts of people race with the speed of lightning from
one pole to the other and they themselves roll on iron roads like a
hurricane from one place to another.
The roads are made from iron and the majority of those traveling
on them also have a heart of iron (at least for their human brothers).
But this is immaterial; My plans are nevertheless more advanced
through the fast communication existing between towns and villages,
and the getting together of the people dwelling there, than all the
builders and owners of railroads believe.
Here I have often mixed together in one carnage - heaven, hell and
earth, or spiritually good, bad or materially thinking people. On
entering they all had their own opinion; on leaving, hell has perhaps
extracted from heaven and earth a permanent spark of knowledge by
way of conversation, which throughout life will not be forgotten. Thus I carry out My plans, utilizing also this traveling together,
and where formerly rigid rules separated people, there I make them
forget their prejudices. And even though self-seeking, the urge for
enjoyment and greed for money are the motivating force why people
come together, travel to other countries exposing themselves to all
sorts of danger, I still have achieved My purpose, namely that of
fraternization. Now it only needs one more mighty push and spiritual
impulse and the people stand there like brothers, united in the desire to
follow Me, the Eternal Shepherd. Then the spiritual significance of the
earth is achieved, then is the time when I shall again come personally
among you, after the stubborn have been removed and only the willing
are left.
Thus, My dear children, you see how heaven, hell and earth, be it
in great or in small things, must serve only the purpose of love, the
fundamental idea of My creation.
However, do not count it by years what I have just told you, for
with Me there is no time. I know neither day nor night by which to
measure time; with Me there is always day, and the sun of love always
shines, and will shine, for all until all will have found the road to Me,
their most loving, benevolent Father.
Now I think that you, too, can be satisfied with this supplement. It
is another light in the great valleys of My creation. Consider well how
much love and grace I bestow on you and that I offer you so much
spiritual bread so that you may no longer doubt that everything you see
is from the Father’s hand!
This for your comfort with My blessing! Amen.

Now that you've mastered the classics, let's delve into the exciting realm of innovative tying techniques. These methods add a touch of personality and elevate your scarf from a simple accessory to a statement piece:
  • The Parisian Knot: Fold your scarf in half and create a loose loop at one end. Thread the other end through the loop and tighten gently. This creates a chic and elegant knot that adds a touch of sophistication.
  • The Infinity Twist: Fold your scarf in half lengthwise and twist it several times to create a looped shape. Slip the loop over your head and adjust the twist for a comfortable fit. This is a cozy and effortless style perfect for colder days.
  • The Asymmetrical Knot: This playful twist on the classic knot involves tying the scarf off-center, creating a visually interesting detail. Experiment with different knot placements to find your signature style.
Beyond the Neck: Creative Ways to Wear Your Cashmere Scarf
Cashmere scarves aren't just for adorning your neck. Explore these unconventional ways to incorporate them into your outfit and unlock their full potential:
  • The Belted Waist: Wrap your scarf around your waist and tie it in a loose knot to cinch your silhouette and add a pop of color. This creates a trendy and unexpected way to style your scarf while adding definition to your outfit.
  • The Shoulder Sash: Fold your scarf into a long, thin strip and drape it diagonally across your torso, securing it at the opposite shoulder with a safety pin or a decorative brooch. This creates a dramatic and sophisticated look, perfect for a night out.
  • The Arm Cuff: Elevate a simple long-sleeved top by tying your scarf around your wrist like a cuff. This adds a touch of texture and visual interest to your outfit.
Embracing Texture and Pattern Play
Cashmere scarves come in a variety of textures, from the classic smooth weave to a cable knit or a fringy edge. Don't be afraid to experiment with these textures to add visual interest and dimension to your look.
Similarly, patterned cashmere scarves offer endless possibilities. Explore bold stripes, playful paisleys, or elegant florals to express your personality. Consider how the pattern interacts with the rest of your outfit and choose contrasting or complementary colors for a cohesive look.
Building a Capsule Wardrobe: Selecting Scarves for Unexpected Styling
To truly embrace the art of cashmere scarf reinvention, consider building a small capsule wardrobe of versatile scarves. Here's what to keep in mind:
  • Neutral Classics: A black, beige, or grey cashmere scarf is a must-have. These neutral tones provide a foundation for various styling techniques and pair effortlessly with most outfits.
  • A Pop of Color: Incorporate a scarf in a bold color like emerald green or cobalt blue to add a statement touch to your outfit. This is a great way to showcase your personality and elevate a simple look.
  • Textured Delight: A cable-knit or a fringed cashmere scarf adds a touch of visual interest and dimension to your outfit

2024.05.26 01:02 justheretowritesff [Discussion] Why I find re zero inspiring, part 2(sort of)

The thing I love about re zero is that it's incredibly relatable in the characterisation. And for me this isn't really about Subaru alone, it's about the relationships and how the characters go about supporting each other and showing the best and worst of themselves depending on the situation. Subaru gets a lot of people invested the most because he starts off seeming like a more relatable neet character, and I do relate to that too through struggles with university life, unemployment and disability. But the main thing re zero has which I love is how vague the characters' mental states and perception of themselves/others often are. We both get a lot of information and exposition about what they think and feel, and still have to work hard to get a better understanding of any one of them - which is realistic.
I don't find other writing as interesting anymore because characters in other books I read often had more certainty to them, whether it was about their place in the world(eg grimdark soldiers who are confident that the world is a dark and gloomy wartorn place and that their only place is to follow orders - how often do we see these sorts of characters actually have an arc to arrive at their philosophies, instead of just thinking in ways the readeauthor would agree with?), how scummy or noble people they are(I include villains because apart from me finding it irritating when you get self aware villains knowing they're doing everything wrong and they instantly become more sympathetic, rather than knowingly doing evil making them almost LESS interesting in my book) or just why they feel a certain way at a certain time.
But re zero gives us so many characters who whether they're doing good or evil, don't have that perfect self awareness - it's something which takes time to develop. Take characters like Thanos versus a villain like Petelgeuse for example - Thanos is definitely seen as compelling by a lot of people, since the idea of the greater good or some pretty extreme overpopulation shit is interesting to people(less so for me, I don't find his ideology so far as I saw from watching the infinity war movie on my own once that engaging). And Petelgeuse is often seen as cliche or a weak villain with nothing to him except evil for its own sake, especially if someone doesn't make it to season 2.
Petelgeuse doesn't have the rigid ideal he 100% believes in there from the start, and it's unpredictable what sets him off. He talks about sloth, judges others including his followers at random, clearly doesn't care for himself much either, and the only information we get about his certain motivations is that he wants to make Emilia a vessel for the witch who he loves. But if you look at the parts of him which he's not sure of it's much more interesting - he seems to be stuck between the past and the present, projecting his history with Fortuna and Satella on his victims constantly. He's basically insane, but not in a randomness for its own sake sort of way: it has a clear cause(well two really but we have no idea what happened between him, Satella and probably involving Echidna before Emilia met him) with his killing Fortuna by accident and then being manipulated by Pandora afterwards. He calls Subaru pride, sloth, diligence, depending on his actions yet never becomes friendly towards him because of that alone. He's someone who's hard to pin down as a character, when we first meet him with Emilia's trials he seems like a much better person but contradicts that by calling himself a sinner, can't really be in a happy relationship with Fortuna since in the real timeline they both had past regrets which made them act so stubborn around each other, and he goes on to commit all sorts of evil without an obvious single motivation which he's aware of. He kills because he wants to bring the witch back, but shows admiration for Emilia when she kills him in an unsuccessful look even though he's supposed to want her only as a vessel. He strictly follows the gospel to bring the witch back, but when we see the messages in the book at last Subaru can only read instructions to start the ordeal with Emilia and no specifics about all of the slaughter on the way.
Villains like this are really interesting. Not logical, which means you either give a murderer a freebie therapy session on the way to attempting to convince them to stop or kill them. But they're not random either and have sympathetic yet irrational motivations driving them, so you can't help but pity them as well - I mean even with Regulus, him having such a distorted perspective is tragic even though you hate him for what he does. While villains are usually thought of as needing to be sane and built around their own logic, at least to the point you can argue with them about their beliefs despite them being extreme and kind of in themselves "insane" to other people, when you write them to be more out of touch as well as having their own reasoning which is comprehensible, it makes for a villain who is superficially much less interesting - but on a deeper level one which is tragic, sympathetic and doesn't have an easy way to defeat them based on a satisfying narrative conclusion. If you just overpower them, isn't that just writing which is rewarding the heroes for no reason other than luck? But if you try to convince them to change, you can't communicate properly with them either.
And we can't just dismiss the villains being as insane and out of touch as they are when protagonists are all written without the sort of perfect self awareness you might sometimes prefer or expect as well. Subaru is straight up insane sometimes, so when we already try so hard to understand him as a character, we end up doing that for all of them, Petelgeuse, Echidna, Priscilla, Ferris, Wilhelm, Roswaal, whether they're villains or not they all have things they lie to themselves and others about and ways of not really seeing reality in an objective way at all. Everyone comes off a little insane because of the psychological focus so even though witches and sin archbishops seem superficially tropey when they rant about their sins, they become more and more developed and interesting as you go on.
Ok I'm done ranting lol. I originally wanted to say how relatable the characters with ptsd are in re zero but ended up talking about things to do with writing and not mental illness.
