Attention post très long ! À lire jusqu'au bout pour tout le monde ayant entendu parler et joué/vu des let's play sur le jeu.
Pour le flair comme de mon point se vue c'est davantage une review j'ai mis autre plutôt que discussion.
Attention cette publication parle d'un jeu plutôt récent (Omori est sorti le 25 décembre 2020). Pour les personnes ici qui n'y ont jamais joués, il est sur steam pour 16€79. Ce serait dommage de vous divulgâcher quelque chose à propos de ce jeu. Ah et le jeu est pegi 18 à cause des thèmes sombres abordés (dépression, anxiété, suicide et beaucoup d'autres).

Premier post ici mais loin d'être mon premier post.
Omori est jeu d'horreur psychologique, avec des graphismes type Earthbound. Ce qui est très trompeur. En effet, lors de notre aventure, on a vite fait de se dire au départ que c'est un jeu mignon alors que pas du tout.
Tout d'abord parce que l'histoire est terriblement triste et ensuite parce que la mise en scène de l'horreur dans ce jeu peut mettre mal à l'aise voir faire sursauter les gens les moins préparés.
En parlant de l'histoire, il va d'abord falloir introduire les personnages.
Les personnages principaux sont :
Kel : C'est le petit voisin de Sunny et Mari et le petit frère de Hero. Il a 16 ans. Il est survolté, passionné de sport, un peu con par moment, gentil. C'est lui qui sortira Sunny de chez lui après 4 années entières d'isolement de la part de Sunny.
Hero : C'est le grand frère de Kel. Il a 19 ans. Il est à la fac au moment du jeu. C'est le petit ami de Mari. C'est le cliché du mec parfait. Il a par ailleurs réussi à réconcilier le groupe la veille du départ
Aubrey : c'est l'autre fille du groupe. Elle a 16 ans. Elle a très mal tourné après la mort de Mari et la dissolution du groupe, la mort de son père, l'alcoolisme de sa mère et une mauvaise influence de la part d'un autre groupe d'adolescents. Elle se réconciliera avec le reste du groupe grâce à Hero. Elle est tout de même devenue ce qu'on appelle une délinquante et religieuse accessoirement.
Basil : c'est un garçon timide, et très associal dans le jeu à la suite de la mort de Mari puisqu'il a été l'unique témoin de la scène. Il reste tout de même gentil et attentionné. Par contre c'est une victime. Il s'est fait harceler par Aubrey et les nouveaux copains de cette dernière et dans le monde des rêves ça vaut pas mieux.
Bien maintenant, l'histoire :
Un Noël, Sunny reçoit un violon de la part de ses amis. Avec Mari qui joue du piano ils ont prévu de faire un concert duo piano/violon. Tout se passe bien jusqu'à un jour d'Octobre si on se fie aux photographies de Basil. Ce jour là Sunny et Mari devaient se produire pour la dernière répétition. Malheureusement Sunny, fatigué n'arrêtait pas de faire des erreurs. De rage il quitte la pièce du piano, casse son violon et monte en furie dans sa chambre.
Mari a entendu évidemment le violon se casser, et monte voir Sunny énervée. Au lieu d'essayer de le comprendre, ce qui aurait pu lui laisser la vie sauve, elle va se mettre à l'engueuler copieusement. Quand Sunny décide d'aller ramasser son violon, Mari lui barre la route, les escaliers juste derrière elle. Sunny dans un élan de colère, va pousser sa sœur dans les escaliers, la tuant sur le coup.
Malheureusement Basil a assisté à la scène. Alors il va essayer d'aider Sunny à camoufler son crime en "Mari s'est suicidée". Et ils vont annoncer ça au reste du groupe. Ce qui a des conséquences désastreuses d'ailleurs :
Mais pas Sunny qui a des hallucinations de Mari et du monde des rêves. En plus de ça il est encore dans le déni malgré les 4 années écoulées depuis la mort de sa sœur.
Lorsqu'il se rendort à 1 jour restant après la réconciliation du groupe, il va faire face à la vérité (décrite plus haut). Il va confronter Basil par rapport à ça. Ils vont se battre dans la chambre de Basil jusqu'à tomber inconscients. Ils seront amenés par le reste du groupe à l'hôpital. Sunny s'y réveillera, vainqueur contre sa dépression et ira voir ses amis pour tout leur raconter.
Voilà maintenant que le contexte nécessaire du jeu est posé, je vais pouvoir vous dire comment je l'ai vécu.
Globalement le monde des rêves je l'ai vécu comme "oh c'est mignon...." sans me douter au départ de toute l'horreur du jeu.
Les passages qui m'ont mis mal à l'aise, ce sont, les passages des phobies et le passage entre le coucher de Sunny à un jour restant et le moment où il se réveille à l'hôpital.
Pourquoi les phobies ? Parce que la mise en scène est brillante pour un jeu de la sorte. Que ce soit l'acrophobie, l'arachnophobie ou l'ablutophobie (peur de se noyer), chaque peur a sa mise en scène et c'est vraiment angoissant quand on est pris dans le jeu.
En particulier le passage de la vérité qui est très bien mis en scène et qui m'a fait éteindre et recommencer le jeu un certain nombre de fois. C'est le seul jeu qui m'a fait faire ça.
L'histoire a réussi à me faire pleurer. Pareil. C'est le seul jeu qui ait réussi cet exploit. La mort de Mari, la complicité de meurtre de Basil et la musique finale, quand on bat Omori... Ça laisse des traces.
J'ai détesté pendant longtemps le trio Aubrey - Sunny et Basil. Pourquoi ? Sunny parce qu'il a tué Mari, Basil à cause de ses décisions désastreuses au moment des faits (camouflage du meurtre en suicide, dire à tout le monde que c'était un suicide...) et Aubrey parce que ses actions envers Kel, Sunny et Basil n'étaient pas glorieuses. On parle d'intimidations, de violences en groupe, du vol de l'album photo de Basil etc... Kel je l'ai trouvé au départ insupportable avec son nombre astronomique de conneries à la secondes. Mari j'ai eu énormément de peine pour elle. Hero pareil, d'ailleurs c'est le premier auquel je me suis attaché.
Mais finalement chacun est attachant à sa manière pour peu qu'on arrive à pardonner les personnages.
Je n'ai pas parlé du monde des rêves bien que se soit environ la moitié du jeu. Le monde des rêves est très important mais uniquement pour comprendre le monde dans lequel Sunny s'est enfermé. Ce sont les moments où on met en pause l'horreur du jeu pour se concentrer sur Sunny lui-même finalement.
Dans ce monde c'est Basil qui est recherché et qui ne sera retrouvé que vers la fin du jeu par Omori dans l'espace noir, un espace qui se trouve au plus profond de l'esprit de Sunny où Basil crève en boucle de différentes façons. Et là il y a deux choix possibles en fonction de la route prise. Soit Kel a sorti Sunny et le joueur de chez Sunny, et le Basil des rêves meurt. Soit on décide de pas ouvrir à Kel et le Basil des rêves est sauvé.
Ce monde est très coloré, même si certains personnages sont détestables, n'est-ce pas Sweetheart. Parce qu'elle a quitté Captain spaceboy et l'a divorcé littéralement le lendemain de leur mariage en plus de le tromper. C'est une garce.
Pluto et sa version expanded est mon perso secondaire préféré dans le monde des rêves. C'est un personnage très drôle, bien qu'enrôlé comme le reste de la population de monde des rêves au last resort, le casino de Mr. Jawsum. Très cool comme combat de boss.
Ce monde est complet quand on est en route hikikomori, qu'on reste chez soi faire les tâches que la mère Sunny lui a donné à faire. Et ce monde des rêves complet mène à de nouveaux endroits très cool. Le snowglobe mountain où on réaffront captain spaceboy en jouant avec les émotions, et les abysses endroit auquel on accède après avoir trouvé les 26 lettres de l'alphabet. On y affronte Abbi un monstre avec 8000 pv et nous donne accès aux armes et armures ultimes des personnages.
J'ai beaucoup aimé également le monde des rêves. L'endroit qui m'a le plus perturbé dans ce monde, c'est l'espace noir. Un endroit que j'ai décrit plus haut.
Voilà. C'était ma review et mon expérience sur Omori. Alors oui j'ai fait d'énormes raccourcis mais raconter l'intégralité du jeu en détail rallongerai inutilement la publication je trouve.

Il est incapable d'être heureux, ne ressent que la tristesse et la colère ou rien du tout. Il déménage à la fin du jeu avec sa mère dans une autre ville que faraway town. C'est également le plus jeune du groupe. Et il a 3 grandes phobies qu'il combattra au cours de l'histoire.

I was at the Scuba Show in LA today and marveling over the Divevolk and other iPhone cases and their ability to add a bracket, handles, and lights. It seems like for a reasonable price you can get a compact system for a decent price.
I haven’t used an underwater camera since I sold my Canon 40d and Ikelite housing 10 or 12 years ago.
All this is a lot of lead in to the question: does anyone use the iPhone in a housing and get good results?
I moved from the Olympus C-4040 to the 40d because the 4040 was slow and I had a lot of photos of fish tails. I can’t say I particularly want to go back to having a bunch of photos of fish tails if the iPhone will be too slow.

The wife is not a big fan of a TV on top of a fireplace since it's too high, but putting the frame any lower and it would look strange in art mode. If I pout the TV at the center of the wall (as opposed to the center of the fireplace section. This would would mean I would not put it at the center aligned with the fireplace but a bit more towards the left. Then I would have space in the right side for some artwork. I know this is hard to understand so I am attaching a diagram. The top part would be the typical installation. Probably have to install higher so it won't look awkward. The bottom one I would lover it a bit (but still not eye level) and add some artwork beside it to, for lack of a better word, justify the positioning.  | On June 20, 2023, the partial skeletal remains of a Caucasian boy were found in a slough adjacent to the Mississippi River in La Crosse, WI. La Crosse is home to about 50,000 residents. The town is on the border between Wisconsin and Minnesota. Between 1997 and 2017, 11 men were found deceased in the Mississippi River near La Crosse. La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the decedent was likely hunting before his death. It's unknown what might have led to this conclusion. He could have washed up from a back water or tributary. Two fishermen discovered his left femur and torso. The clothing that he was wearing had "disintegrated." The following were recovered on the body: a black belt, Mossy Oak underwear, and "fabric remains of blue jeans present on pelvic region." The jeans were from the brand Decree, in size 30x32. A ring with a unique design was found in his pants pocket. Upon examination, it' was hypothesized that his body had made its way through a lock and a dam upriver, and had been in the water for a long time. The young man is estimated to have been between the ages of 15-25 at the time of his death. Investigators believe he was on the younger end of that range. It was also estimated that he died 5 years prior, give or take. There's a stronger possibility that he had been deceased for less time. He stood somewhere between 5'1-5'11. The most recent article about John Doe was written in October 2023. By then, his remains had been sent for DNA testing. Director of the GOC Miss Al Fine, The Engineer (Leader of the Choas insurgency), and GOI-004A or better known as Robert Bumaro (Leader of the Church of the broken god) "So... Current status of thr east gate of the city." Al Fine asked the engineer. "Our insurgents have held fine miss Fine" he said using her name as a pun. She snickered in an amused fashion. "Now to our correct discussion. Based on what we've seen gentlemen it has become clear that while we sit safe and sound in Ganzir the world is currently going to shit" she said bluntly.
"Thats one way of putting it" said Robert Bumaro metallically sighing "based on our currently reports Russia has fallen and the Choas insurgents currently not in Ganzir are toppling African governments making the situation worst." She sighed. "Aren't you supposed to be in charge of the insurgency Mister Engineer" she said. "I may have control over our Insurgents currently in Ganzir but I've lost all contact with the insurgents outside of Africa so I can’t tell them to stop their madness. "Nothing new coming from your kind" Chuckled Robert Bumaro metallically. The engineer shot Robert a glare before calming himself down.
"Look Ganzir won't last forever. Yes, half of this city was created by God himself or some kind of God, but we don't have infinite food or water. Our replicators, which I hope each of your twos respective personnel are handling properly cant replicate organic matter and our food reserves will only last the city for 10 years given the cities current population." Fine said. "We are going to-" She gets cut off by the Engineer. "We are going to pull a Serpents hand aren't we" he said with a disappointed look on his face. "Yes and no." She responded. "While we will try to get into another reality or dimension to escape this mess the GOC will be staying behind the hold the fort as we get the civilians out of here. The Serpent's Hand were cowards and only thought about their lives not the lives of civilians that's why they left straight up and didn't decide to try to get as many people as they could into the wander's library. The United Nations Global Occult Coalition on the other hand like I said will stay behind." she said firmly.
“And what about you." asked Robert. "I will be staying behind as well it would be a shame for my men to miss out on living" she said joking grimly. "The Insurgency will stand by you then. We will give the foundation shit heads-" The engineer says before he gets cut off. "The Insurgency will not fight side by side with the UNGOC you will protect the civilians and be with them when Ganzir is evacuated somehow." She spoke. "But" He gets cut off again. "No buts. We have no idea what fucked up or beautiful reality or dimension our civilians will be walking into when shit hits the fan, and we evacuate. The insurgency and the Church for a matter-of-fact job is to protect the civilians from whatever awaits them in the realities or dimensions we may create a rift too. Is that clear." She says firmly. "yes" The engineer sighs as he says yes but Robert says it with a clear level of understanding.
"Look ever since it began our 3 organizations united to defend humanity one last time. Once you're on the other side... Please don't go back to your old ways we need your organizations as they are now to face whatever awaits humanity on the other side." Fine says this in almost a begging tone. "Look for as long as our 3 organizations have existed, we've hated each other but with the foundation looming over us we need to do what we can to preserve human life. The GOC leader has a point." Says Robert. "Let's not let Her and her organizations sacrifice be in vain." The Engineer raised his hand in protest but then stopped. "Fine but we will need some GOC personnel to come with us since your organization knows how to handle Anomalous weapons way better than the Church and my group and I don't want any freak accidents happening while we evacuate." Fine thinks for a moment before saying. "Sounds good. Meeting dismissed." The 3 respective leaders walk out of the room as they head to talk with the brightest members of each of their respective groups for the grand undertaking that is about to happen.

Director of the GOC Miss Al Fine, The Engineer (Leader of the Choas insurgency), and GOI-004A or better known as Robert Bumaro (Leader of the Church of the broken god) "So... Current status of thr east gate of the city." Al Fine asked the engineer. "Our insurgents have held fine miss Fine" he said using her name as a pun. She snickered in an amused fashion. "Now to our correct discussion. Based on what we've seen gentlemen it has become clear that while we sit safe and sound in Ganzir the world is currently going to shit" she said bluntly.
"Thats one way of putting it" said Robert Bumaro metallically sighing "based on our currently reports Russia has fallen and the Choas insurgents currently not in Ganzir are toppling African governments making the situation worst." She sighed. "Aren't you supposed to be in charge of the insurgency Mister Engineer" she said. "I may have control over our Insurgents currently in Ganzir but I've lost all contact with the insurgents outside of Africa so I can’t tell them to stop their madness. "Nothing new coming from your kind" Chuckled Robert Bumaro metallically. The engineer shot Robert a glare before calming himself down.
"Look Ganzir won't last forever. Yes, half of this city was created by God himself or some kind of God, but we don't have infinite food or water. Our replicators, which I hope each of your twos respective personnel are handling properly cant replicate organic matter and our food reserves will only last the city for 10 years given the cities current population." Fine said. "We are going to-" She gets cut off by the Engineer. "We are going to pull a Serpents hand aren't we" he said with a disappointed look on his face. "Yes and no." She responded. "While we will try to get into another reality or dimension to escape this mess the GOC will be staying behind the hold the fort as we get the civilians out of here. The Serpent's Hand were cowards and only thought about their lives not the lives of civilians that's why they left straight up and didn't decide to try to get as many people as they could into the wander's library. The United Nations Global Occult Coalition on the other hand like I said will stay behind." she said firmly.
“And what about you." asked Robert. "I will be staying behind as well it would be a shame for my men to miss out on living" she said joking grimly. "The Insurgency will stand by you then. We will give the foundation shit heads-" The engineer says before he gets cut off. "The Insurgency will not fight side by side with the UNGOC you will protect the civilians and be with them when Ganzir is evacuated somehow." She spoke. "But" He gets cut off again. "No buts. We have no idea what fucked up or beautiful reality or dimension our civilians will be walking into when shit hits the fan, and we evacuate. The insurgency and the Church for a matter-of-fact job is to protect the civilians from whatever awaits them in the realities or dimensions we may create a rift too. Is that clear." She says firmly. "yes" The engineer sighs as he says yes but Robert says it with a clear level of understanding.
"Look ever since it began our 3 organizations united to defend humanity one last time. Once you're on the other side... Please don't go back to your old ways we need your organizations as they are now to face whatever awaits humanity on the other side." Fine says this in almost a begging tone. "Look for as long as our 3 organizations have existed, we've hated each other but with the foundation looming over us we need to do what we can to preserve human life. The GOC leader has a point." Says Robert. "Let's not let Her and her organizations sacrifice be in vain." The Engineer raised his hand in protest but then stopped. "Fine but we will need some GOC personnel to come with us since your organization knows how to handle Anomalous weapons way better than the Church and my group and I don't want any freak accidents happening while we evacuate." Fine thinks for a moment before saying. "Sounds good. Meeting dismissed." The 3 respective leaders walk out of the room as they head to talk with the brightest members of each of their respective groups for the grand undertaking that is about to happen.

FAIR WARNING THIS WILL BE A WALL OF TEXT
Intro: In a series of reviews that will begin (or return) here; we are going to try and take a critical look at the Chuck series, especially the unfolding of the story as scene through the teleplay. In this case we are assuming multiple things about a potential watcher:
So, don't freak out, and lets get started.
Chuck 01x04 (Chuck vs the Wookiee): TEASER - We open with the gang playing "Know Ya!", which isn't actually a real board game, but based on the game Paddles. It's amazing that Morgan can't stand Ellie/Awesome being in love/winning, but marches triumphantly whenever he gets a question correct. I also like we see, in frame, Chuck watching Sarah pick off olives; he's beginning to notice things just like a real spy. The deep sadness and yet storied confliction on Chuck's face when he discovers Peaches 1 and Peaches 2 was great.
For those who don't know about dogs:
As they end the game and exit to the courtyard, there teleplay of Chuck does something I've been wanting to see forever; they switch perspective to keep both characters in camera and follow them around from a 3rd perspective. We know this is supposed to indicate they are being watched, but I really enjoy getting to see them together reacting and talking instead of the constant close-ups and cuts. Normally Chuck will be shot with something between a medium close up (MCU) and Medium Shot (MS) to emphasize their characters and highlight their faces and expressions. This works really well because Chuck's cameras are typically either shoulder level or hip level based on the operators moving through their space. In many more modern TV shows, the technology of boom cranes and gyroscopic gimbals allows for content to be show from ground level to overhead giving directors the opportunity to tell their story through a variety of shifting profiles. If Chuck were shot today, we would see everything from full body shots all the way to extreme closeups without the need for continual jump-cuts and re-shoots because the technology is there. As we transition into Sarah's hotel room, did anyone pick up on how NICE this is? She has double sinks, a king bed, a sitting mirror, free standing tub, and a great view. I doubt any agency in the "real world" would ever spring for something like this for multiple years for one of their agents, it's fancy! Enter Carina, tell me, who saw Sarah fight with a soap sock and think of iCarly and the famous "butter sock". Also during this fight, why is Sarah wearing a golden bikini? I know she is about to get into the shower, but what plausible reason is there for her to a) wear a bikini at all and b) it to be a bright golden yellow?? If you slow this fight scene way down, you will notice Yvonne's strikes actually come close to hitting Mimi as she has had a lot of training, whereas Mimi's strikes are miles from Yvonne and she just over-acts their impact. The most noticeable is the kick into her table, Sarah goes flying back, but we can tell from the angle, Carina missed her by a good 2 ft. This was just some sloppy editing and not getting the camera into position. I give it a pass because you have probably 3 camera operators wearing stabilized camera rigs trying to rotate around a room with 2 girls fighting and they just missed the angle by like 2 feet. I did really like at the end of the fight Carina had the option to go for the gun but instead went for the fish. If you didn't know they were not enemies before, this should have been a big clue! Carina calls Sarah's life in LA boring #1
ACT I
Carina aka: Maria Elena Argalberdi was born Jun 16, 1978 in Alberdi Argentina with a Buenos Aires passport. Maria Elena is actually the name of a famous song in Mexico and eventually had a movie. This Chuck learns on Flash #1 and is the precursor to meeting the general for the first time. I know I've mentioned this before, but to reiterate; the pictures in Casey's apartment are all wrong; he has photos of Chuck and Morgan that don't happen until season 5 (lost footage) he has a map of Echo Park and Malibu already on display, and he has tactical information for each member of the Buy More (which he has no reason for at this time). It is interesting they talk about an opium cartel in Afghanistan as Afghanistan is known for it's huge poppy fields for heroin drug money.
The NADAN-I-NOOR diamond:
On the Nerd Herd call with Carina, she opens a bottle of wine with a butter knife. This is actually a pretty famous thing that is done all over the world with everything from a key to a saber. In fact they make a specially type of knife with an extra wide blade for this it Italy. I do want to ask the question; is Carina dressed in red lingerie (Chuck's favorite color she stole from Sarah) really necessary for this scene? I know that Carina is all about improvising and she often uses her sexuality to progress her cause (Casey), but I think we could have gotten away with just the top. I can certainly see the rationalization for going this far, but I think as an artistic choice it wasn't necessary. What IS necessary however is to talk about how Chuck's world implodes when Carina tells him about Sarah and Bryce. Also the perfect act transition ending right at Chuck's jaw dropping and the work boyfriend!
ACT II
I'll say it again, the back an forth with Chuck and Sarah should have been a medium close up, shoulder level straight on shot instead of the constant cuts. Seeing their reaction in real time would have been easier and it would have allowed the Weinerlicious to be maybe 15 ft smaller to not need so many cameramen rotating. "Unless talking to your boyfriend is a matter of national security, the ketchup bottles won't refill themselves". Why yes it IS a mater of national security for Sarah to talk to Chuck... also if any one of us stood up to our boss like Sarah did, I'm pretty sure we'd be fired on the spot!
Malibu is ~2hours for Echo Park with standard LA traffic. Seriously, how do girls in high heels walk down stairs; we see Carina and Sarah walking sideways so there is enough space on each step to fit their shoes. Girls, how do you do that and not fall especially with narrow staircases and 3-6inch heels! Inside the room with the stone there is a bust of Cesare, archenemies, da vinci, and biblical David. There is also some famous paintings the best of which is Vemieer's "young girl with a pearl earring" which is rather appropriate considering it's meaning. There is also a Van Gogh of man in a wheat field and a Monet in one shot too. If ANY of these paintings were real instead of reproductions, they would be worth millions, in fact the young girl with a pearl is estimated at 40million, which is 1.5x the sell value of the Nadan-I-Noor! If we take a look at the engineering drawing of Flash #2 on the pedestal, we would see this design creates a closed circuit around the tongs the diamond rests on; which might explain it's red hue. If a person were to touch the diamond, it would close the circuit on their body allowing the 4000volts to travel through their heart. A person can die with ~20volts, though it's usually more like 50 in most occurrences. 4000volts is enough to kill a herd of elephants and completely overkill for a person. Also the amount of power that would take is more than the city of Malibu... this is to say the trap is real, the numbers are complete nonsense; thinking lightning! Nice shot by Sarah with the plate (there are some great bloopers on this too where she misses badly)! A remote controlled jet ski... i'm not even going to calculate the nonsense for this; it's just total nonsense. Almost as much nonsense as Casey using his phone to track Carina's call. That would take minutes, even with today's technology to back trace like that and way more power than just pushing a button on a razer flip-phone from the 90's!
back at the house, Chuck i playing halo with the legendary skulls as his weapon; this is nice because in the BuyMore at the end of the episode there are dudes dressed as master chief! I really like the changing perspective here with Chuck and Morgan. Chuck's reactions remain in focus while Morgan tells a story behind him, then it switches as Chuck starts to move around until bringing both into focus for the final line "we still have each other and that's really sad". The side cut to Sarah picking locks to the hotel door is classic early 2000's TV and i'm all for it, even if it is super cheezy. BTW as someone who used to lock pick in college, that's .... not how that works, but good try. We get our Flash #3 on the diamond in Morgan's back nuclear explosions. I wonder if the refractive capability of a diamond this pure is enough to focus laser to induce fission or if the value of selling the diamond is enough to buy nuclear material on the black market? Either way, we end the act with... the man with the golden gun!
ACT III
Chuck uses Sarah's plate move against Carina, nice inter-episode call back; he's clearly watching/learning, but his aim is terrible. This was actually clever as Sarah has perfect aim for she is a professional, while Chuck is still definitely a civilian and has no aptitude for fighting. I really like both these types of simple call backs but also how seemingly throw-away lines/actions help tell the broad story of the show. Chuck talking to Carina also shows Chuck has this weird, innate aptitude to get people to re-evaluate themselves and grow internally. You can watch Carina "grow in real-time. When we get to the hotel and Carina opens her trunk first there are a few glocks, a couple rugers, and a 1911; then she switches to blades and we see some folders, some strait blades, an illegal gravity blade (still illegal today), and a kbar... nice selection! Carina, always the flirt, gives Chuck some very insightful works about the nature of being a spy, but also maybe some way to get through to Sarah.
Inside the hotel we see Carina and Sarah speaking; Carina is speaking Swedish, while Sarah replies in Polish. "Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dem då?" which is Swedish for "If I throw you the keys, will you drop them?" Sarah answered in Polish: "Tylko jak rzucisz jak twoja mamusia", which means "Only if you throw it like your mommy". This is just great!
I want to talk about how fast Chuck managed to find an address for DC, print a label, open a box, put the label on, and get the diamond there all before the door gets broken. Somehow on screen time this is like 10seconds, but in real life this would have to be like 3minutes minimum? Either that door is remarkably strong or... TV magic??
ACT IV
Even with all the flirting, as we say goodbye to Carina >! for now !< she is still joking with Casey and every the professional. I like how they show when it's "game time" it's all about the job, but spys can be people too! Carina still calls Sarah's life boring #3 (the common trifecta of episode repeats).
Sarah's face when Chuck brings the pizza with no olives is the reason I think Yvonne makes the perfect Sarah. She exudes the hidden beauty needed and has the acting to so such emotion for Chuck being sweet. The whole scene with Chuck and Sarah asking questions, then Chuck backing off, then Sarah acting stoic like she WANTS to open up but doesn't know if she can really trust Chuck, is ready to move on from Bryce, and should for the nature of her job. This was probably the most well acted 20seconds of the entire episode. Finally, we hear Sarah's middle name is Lisa. Now we never officially know if Chuck hears this or not both due to camera focus and distance, it's never officially confirmed in the entire show. When the intersect is updated in season 4 we see Sarah's picture and it lists Lisa as a middle name, so we assume it's official, but it's never confirmed at any point. Finally, I really like how they end the episode with Sarah closing her eyes as the fade to black.

I think this was a great episode and really showcased what they can do when additional cast members join the team and when they are not afraid to play with perspective. Mimi as Carina is a great addition to the ensemble and I wish we saw her more, but every time she drops in, it's always a wild episode and it's fantastic. Watching Chuck learn about Sarah and seeing Sarah start to open up is a good way forward and heck Casey had some of the best humor in the episode. Overall, it was fast paced, had some nice character development, as funny in the best way, and moved the main theme along, 8/10.

I know that Carina is all about improvising and she often uses her sexuality to progress her cause (Casey), but I think we could have gotten away with just the top. I can certainly see the rationalization for going this far, but I think as an artistic choice it wasn't necessary. What IS necessary however is to talk about how Chuck's world implodes when Carina tells him about Sarah and Bryce. Also the perfect act transition ending right at Chuck's jaw dropping and the work boyfriend!
ACT II
I'll say it again, the back an forth with Chuck and Sarah should have been a medium close up, shoulder level straight on shot instead of the constant cuts. Seeing their reaction in real time would have been easier and it would have allowed the Weinerlicious to be maybe 15 ft smaller to not need so many cameramen rotating. "Unless talking to your boyfriend is a matter of national security, the ketchup bottles won't refill themselves". Why yes it IS a mater of national security for Sarah to talk to Chuck... also if any one of us stood up to our boss like Sarah did, I'm pretty sure we'd be fired on the spot!
Malibu is ~2hours for Echo Park with standard LA traffic. Seriously, how do girls in high heels walk down stairs; we see Carina and Sarah walking sideways so there is enough space on each step to fit their shoes. Girls, how do you do that and not fall especially with narrow staircases and 3-6inch heels! Inside the room with the stone there is a bust of Cesare, archenemies, da vinci, and biblical David. There is also some famous paintings the best of which is Vemieer's "young girl with a pearl earring" which is rather appropriate considering it's meaning. There is also a Van Gogh of man in a wheat field and a Monet in one shot too. If ANY of these paintings were real instead of reproductions, they would be worth millions, in fact the young girl with a pearl is estimated at 40million, which is 1.5x the sell value of the Nadan-I-Noor! If we take a look at the engineering drawing of Flash #2 on the pedestal, we would see this design creates a closed circuit around the tongs the diamond rests on; which might explain it's red hue. If a person were to touch the diamond, it would close the circuit on their body allowing the 4000volts to travel through their heart. A person can die with ~20volts, though it's usually more like 50 in most occurrences. 4000volts is enough to kill a herd of elephants and completely overkill for a person. Also the amount of power that would take is more than the city of Malibu... this is to say the trap is real, the numbers are complete nonsense; thinking lightning! Nice shot by Sarah with the plate (there are some great bloopers on this too where she misses badly)! A remote controlled jet ski... i'm not even going to calculate the nonsense for this; it's just total nonsense. Almost as much nonsense as Casey using his phone to track Carina's call. That would take minutes, even with today's technology to back trace like that and way more power than just pushing a button on a razer flip-phone from the 90's!
back at the house, Chuck i playing halo with the legendary skulls as his weapon; this is nice because in the BuyMore at the end of the episode there are dudes dressed as master chief! I really like the changing perspective here with Chuck and Morgan. Chuck's reactions remain in focus while Morgan tells a story behind him, then it switches as Chuck starts to move around until bringing both into focus for the final line "we still have each other and that's really sad". The side cut to Sarah picking locks to the hotel door is classic early 2000's TV and i'm all for it, even if it is super cheezy. BTW as someone who used to lock pick in college, that's .... not how that works, but good try. We get our Flash #3 on the diamond in Morgan's back nuclear explosions. I wonder if the refractive capability of a diamond this pure is enough to focus laser to induce fission or if the value of selling the diamond is enough to buy nuclear material on the black market? Either way, we end the act with... the man with the golden gun!
ACT III
Chuck uses Sarah's plate move against Carina, nice inter-episode call back; he's clearly watching/learning, but his aim is terrible. This was actually clever as Sarah has perfect aim for she is a professional, while Chuck is still definitely a civilian and has no aptitude for fighting. I really like both these types of simple call backs but also how seemingly throw-away lines/actions help tell the broad story of the show. Chuck talking to Carina also shows Chuck has this weird, innate aptitude to get people to re-evaluate themselves and grow internally. You can watch Carina "grow in real-time. When we get to the hotel and Carina opens her trunk first there are a few glocks, a couple rugers, and a 1911; then she switches to blades and we see some folders, some strait blades, an illegal gravity blade (still illegal today), and a kbar... nice selection! Carina, always the flirt, gives Chuck some very insightful works about the nature of being a spy, but also maybe some way to get through to Sarah.
Inside the hotel we see Carina and Sarah speaking; Carina is speaking Swedish, while Sarah replies in Polish. "Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dem då?" which is Swedish for "If I throw you the keys, will you drop them?" Sarah answered in Polish: "Tylko jak rzucisz jak twoja mamusia", which means "Only if you throw it like your mommy". This is just great!
I want to talk about how fast Chuck managed to find an address for DC, print a label, open a box, put the label on, and get the diamond there all before the door gets broken. Somehow on screen time this is like 10seconds, but in real life this would have to be like 3minutes minimum? Either that door is remarkably strong or... TV magic??
ACT IV
Even with all the flirting, as we say goodbye to Carina >! for now !< she is still joking with Casey and every the professional. I like how they show when it's "game time" it's all about the job, but spys can be people too! Carina still calls Sarah's life boring #3 (the common trifecta of episode repeats).
Sarah's face when Chuck brings the pizza with no olives is the reason I think Yvonne makes the perfect Sarah. She exudes the hidden beauty needed and has the acting to so such emotion for Chuck being sweet. The whole scene with Chuck and Sarah asking questions, then Chuck backing off, then Sarah acting stoic like she WANTS to open up but doesn't know if she can really trust Chuck, is ready to move on from Bryce, and should for the nature of her job. This was probably the most well acted 20seconds of the entire episode. Finally, we hear Sarah's middle name is Lisa. Now we never officially know if Chuck hears this or not both due to camera focus and distance, it's never officially confirmed in the entire show. When the intersect is updated in season 4 we see Sarah's picture and it lists Lisa as a middle name, so we assume it's official, but it's never confirmed at any point. Finally, I really like how they end the episode with Sarah closing her eyes as the fade to black.
Few notes: There are 5 official songs in this episode:
- "Yea Yeah" by Matt and Kim - when the gang is playing board games during group date night. This song is about not worrying about the things you cannot change. Little things that build up and bum you out that you need to just let go.
- "Wild Girl" Matt Pond PA - Chuck and Morgan discussing their relationship problems. This song is about overcoming past struggles and finding hope in the present and future. Describing a sense of resilience and optimism
- "weird science" by does it offend you - Chuck and Carina talk at Peyman' Malibu Compound. This is a remind to break free and embrace individuality and live on your own terms. Be unapologetically ourselves.

- "Fall into place" the apartment - the team say's goodby to Carina. Deals with growing up, taking (or not taking) chances. finding oneself in the unpredictability of life. I have to say, we don't actually hear the lyrics to any of these songs during the episode just the melody, but I don't really appreciate the music choices here. I feel like there were better options at key points, so that's a miss from me.
- On the DVD for Season One the word Wookiee is spelled incorrectly, leaving off the last E.

I think this was a great episode and really showcased what they can do when additional cast members join the team and when they are not afraid to play with perspective. Mimi as Carina is a great addition to the ensemble and I wish we saw her more, but every time she drops in, it's always a wild episode and it's fantastic. Watching Chuck learn about Sarah and seeing Sarah start to open up is a good way forward and heck Casey had some of the best humor in the episode. Overall, it was fast paced, had some nice character development, as funny in the best way, and moved the main theme along, 8/10.

If someone is home she will claim she was trying to find her friend "Catherine" and was bringing her coffee. She doesn't knock or announce herself.
She is tall and very slender with long black hair kind of greying a bit probably in her late 40s or 50s. She sometimes wears a mask. If you see here PLEASE call the police and follow her. I've seen a photo from the security camera and might be able to get it to post here if that's allowed.
My condo sent out a warning to not let people into the building they don't know a few months ago because a woman was entering the surrounding buildings and robbing people who left their doors unlocked.
Yesterday she returned to my building and stole from a bunch of elderly people basically taking their rent money and whatever cash they had in the home.
I wasn't home but my gf was and she actually entered our unit. At first my gf believed the story but sternly walked her out, then a few mins later she realized the story made no sense and got the super who was advised of the situation. Other residents were in the hall at this point and reported hearing someone moving their door handles trying to enter.
On my floor alone she stole $750 from one neighbour who had their rent in their dresser and $250 from another elderly woman on a fixed income. I wish I had been home because my gf is not street smart like I am and I would have seen through that BS and detained her.
Aside from keeping an eye out for this disgusting woman and getting her caught, I also just wanted to warn people to lock your doors when you leave your apartment. And even if you're home. I know it sounds dumb not to but it's something I even did up until that first warning. I live in a nice quiet area and quiet building. Makes me sick someone entered my unit with my gf home and they could have done anything. She is beyond lucky I wasn't home.
But yeah keep an eye out and be safe!
