2024.06.02 09:58 reviewsusa Coffee Loophole to Lose Weight: Does the 7 Second Weight Loss Recipe Work?

When considering coffee as a potential aid in weight loss, there's evidence suggesting its efficacy. Coffee, containing caffeine, a common ingredient in many fat-burning supplements, is recognized for its ability to boost metabolism. Additionally, coffee contains stimulants like Theobromine, found in cocoa, and Theophylline, along with chlorogenic acid, which may impede carb absorption.
However, it's important to note that while caffeine can stimulate the nervous system and prompt fat cell breakdown, this process alone doesn't lead to weight loss unless accompanied by calorie expenditure through diet or exercise.
Contrary to popular belief, the combination of lemon and coffee as a miraculous weight loss solution isn't supported. Healthline articles debunking this trend emphasize that neither lemon nor coffee possess magical fat-melting properties. Sustainable weight loss requires a balanced approach of consuming fewer calories and increasing physical activity.
While some studies suggest coffee may contribute to modest weight reduction, extravagant claims regarding its transformative abilities are unfounded and unattainable.

7-Second Coffee Loophole Recipe: What’s the Science Behind It?

The 7-second coffee loophole diet has gained significant attention as a method for weight loss, involving the combination of coffee with various ingredients. While the internet is flooded with different versions of this recipe, typically incorporating coffee, lemon, honey, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon, it has also been used to promote coffee-based supplements promising weight loss benefits.
The core concept revolves around consuming black coffee, often with additional ingredients, within a very precise timeframe, ideally within seven seconds of experiencing hunger pangs.
Proponents of this method, including advocates and influencers, make bold assertions about its effectiveness. They claim that rapid consumption of coffee tricks the body into feeling full, thus temporarily suppressing appetite. However, there's a lack of substantial scientific evidence to support these claims.
The theory behind the 7-second loophole stems from the interaction between caffeine and hunger hormones. According to supporters, drinking black coffee stimulates the release of hormones like adrenaline and dopamine, which may momentarily curb appetite. The strategy behind the 7-second loophole is to strategically time coffee intake to diminish hunger and the desire to snack.
Despite its widespread popularity, it's essential to approach weight loss trends with caution. Substitutes, tricks, and hacks should complement, not replace, a balanced diet and healthy eating habits.

Advantages of the Coffee Loophole Diet

Embracing the Coffee Tweak to Lose Weight can offer several noteworthy benefits:

Potential Drawbacks of the Coffee Loophole

Though the coffee loophole recipe has some promising benefits according to research, it is important to consider its potential downsides:
As with any dietary change, it is advisable to consult your doctor before trying the coffee loophole, especially if you have existing health concerns. Always pay attention to how your body responds.

Step-by-Step Coffee Brewing Procedure

Now that all your ingredients are prepared, let’s delve into the brewing process! This stage is uncomplicated, direct, and bound to transform your morning ritual:

What Does the Coffee Loophole Taste Like?

The taste of the Coffee Loophole brew stays true to what you know. It maintains the richness of coffee flavor, its full-bodied nature, and the aromatic undertones. Sugar or cream aren't necessary additions, as they could counteract the metabolic advantages we aim for. Once you acquire a taste for black coffee, it seamlessly fits into your daily routine, becoming a satisfying ritual.

Maximizing Weight Loss Potential with Coffee

Unlock the full potential of coffee for weight loss with these expert tips:

The Coffee Loophole: Worth a Try?

Indulging in coffee blended with butter, oils, and spices has surged in popularity, with claims suggesting it aids in shedding pounds. However, the evidence supporting these assertions remains uncertain.
While it might slightly curb appetite, this concoction alone is unlikely to result in significant weight loss for the majority of individuals.
Nevertheless, incorporating it into a balanced lifestyle can be beneficial. Just manage your expectations and understand that no single solution can replace the importance of proper nutrition and regular exercise.
In summary, we acknowledge the potential benefits of the coffee loophole, but it's not a magical solution for weight loss. Enjoy it if you like it and if it complements your routine!

Disclaimers

Please note that relying solely on the coffee loophole is not a guaranteed method for losing weight. Individual outcomes may differ, and it's advisable to adopt a balanced lifestyle that includes healthy eating habits, consistent physical activity, and adequate rest. Prioritizing long-term sustainability is more important than seeking immediate solutions.

Final Thoughts

The allure of miracle weight loss products persists, fueled by unsubstantiated claims from supplement manufacturers and their social media endorsers. However, scientific evidence remains elusive. While some ingredients show potential for aiding weight loss, there's no magic formula for shedding pounds rapidly without embracing a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Rather than pursuing rapid weight loss, the focus should be on achieving sustainable, long-lasting results through healthy lifestyle changes. To embark on this journey effectively, it's crucial to seek guidance from healthcare professionals such as your doctor and a registered dietitian. They can craft a personalized weight loss plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences, setting you on the path towards lasting success.

Elevate Your Wins with These Bonuses and Promotions

SkyCrown is a relatively new gaming site that was launched in 2022. As such, this site seeks to entice players with exciting bonus promotions, including a welcome match deposit bonus, high roller bonus, reload bonuses, and more. Let’s unbox these promotions one by one.

First deposit bonus

We started our journey at SkyCrown by claiming the 100% match bonus, reaching $150. This platform also added 100 free spins to the match deposit bonus. They specify that the free spins can only be played on John Hunter and the Mayan Gods by Pragmatic Play.
Remember, you must deposit at least $30 using the SKY1 bonus code to claim this first deposit bonus package. Also, this bonus is unavailable for cryptocurrency, Neteller, and Skrill deposits.

Bonus percentage per game

Although you must meet the 40x wagering requirement on all games, the game contribution varies when fulfilling this requirement. According to SkyCrown, slots contribute 100% towards the bonus wagering except for a few listed games. For example, if you wager $5 on qualifying slots, the entire amount will be subtracted from the wagering requirement.

Claim even more bonuses

As a loyal player, SkyCrown keeps you occupied with a variety of bonus packages to choose from. However, most bonuses are available after depositing a specific amount using a promo code. We’ll explore all of them in this SkyCrown Casino review.

Second and third deposit bonuses

After bagging your first deposit bonus, the site invites you to deposit at least $30 using a SKY2 bonus code to claim the 50% match bonus up to $300. In other words, you’ll receive an amount half your real money deposit but not exceeding $300. This package also comes with 50 free spins on Thunderkick’s Pink Elephant.
The royal treatment continues with a third deposit bonus of 75% up to $300. To claim this reward, you must deposit at least $30 using a SKY3 bonus code. Like the first and second deposit bonuses, this promo also features 75 free spins on Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus. If this game isn’t available, you can play BGaming’s Gold Rush with Johnny Cash.

Live casino welcome bonus

Are you a fan of live dealer games? Play your favorite titles and claim a 1% welcome rakeback on wagers not exceeding $1,500. The maximum weekly rakeback is $1,500 after depositing at least $75. Keep in mind that the rakeback is paid in actual money, meaning you don’t have to meet any wagering requirements.

High roller bonus

SkyCrown has a 50% up to $2,000 high roller welcome bonus for those who like playing big. This bonus is only available on your first deposit of at least $1,000 using the HIGH5 promo code. But there’s a catch. You must meet a 40x playthrough requirement within five days of receiving the bonus.

Friday cashboost rally

This site promises to reward you with 20% cashback on your weekly deposits to have even more fun. You only need to top up your account from Monday to Thursday to receive the 20% cashback up to $1,000 every Friday. Note that the deposit amount during the specified period must be $200+. You must also meet a 40x rollover rate before cashing out.

SkyCrown freespin spree

SkyCrown also offers a Free spin package that allows players to earn bonus spins every week after wagering at least $500 on any 3oaks or Redgenn games from Tuesday to Wednesday. Remember that your bonus spins will increase with a bigger bet amount.
  • Wager $500 to $999 to get 25 free spins
  • Wager $1,000 to $1,499 to get 50 free spins
  • Wager $1,500 to $1,999 to get 75 free spins
  • Wager $2,000 to $2,999 to get 100 free spins
  • Wager $3,000 and more to get 200 free spins

Crypto cashback

This platform allows you to deposit funds using multiple cryptocurrencies. If you’re a crypto player, you can claim 10% cashback of up to 1,000 USDT on net losses recorded on live dealer games and slots. The cashback bonus is calculated from Tuesday 00:00 UTC to Monday 23:59 UTC and is paid out every Tuesday at 18:00 UTC. Also, this bonus doesn’t have any wagering requirements.

Regular live casino bonus

Keep playing your favorite live dealer games and stand a chance to claim 10% of your losses in no-wagering funds every Wednesday. This cashback bonus is calculated on your losses from Wednesday 00:01 UT to Tuesday 23:59 UTC. However, you must use your live casino welcome offer to claim this reward.

50 Free spins every Monday

Start your week off with a bang! Every Monday, you can deposit at least $30 with a SKY1 code to pocket 50 free spins on Gamebeat’s Witch Treasures slot. This bonus is available if you made at least a single deposit the previous week and must have a withdrawal-to-deposit ratio exceeding 70%.

Explore SkyCrown Casino's Diverse Games Library

Very few Canadian gaming sites can compare to SkyCrown’s game-rich library. At the time of writing this SkyCrown review, we counted over 7,000 games from leading game developers such as Netgame, Gamebeat, BGaming, Mascot, and more.

Below are the game categories:

Slots

As expected, slot machines are the main offerings at this casino. You’ll find so many real money slots from BGaming, Reflex Gaming, Gamingcorps, and other software developers. The slots are available in varying categories, including Bonus Buy, Megaways, Books, Mythology, Expanding Wilds, and more. This should help you find your preferred slot machines easily.

Jackpots

SkyCrown has hundreds of jackpot slots to play if you’re after those extra-large jackpot wins. Some trending jackpot titles include Fortune Circus by Fugaso, Fortune Dreams by Lucky, Gold of Maya by Gamzix, and more. Games with progressive jackpot networks have a “JP” banner.

Table games

If you feel like taking a little break from slots, we advise you to check out their wide selection of table games. You’ll find numerous titles and variations for Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, and Poker. They also offer several Andar Bahar, Pai Gow, and Craps titles.

Instant games

Instant or arcade games have become fan favorites due to their fast-paced and rewarding gameplay. You’ll find several crash games, including Spribe’s Aviator, Aero by Turbogames, JetLucky 2 by Gamingcorps, and more. You’ll also find Plinko, Mines, and Dice titles.

Live casino

Live dealer games provide a unique table game experience in a real casino setting. SkyCrown ensures this by offering 300+ live dealer games from ALG, Bombay Live, Better Live, and TVBET. Sadly, we didn’t find any live titles from Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play Live.

Must Play Games at SkyCrown Casino

We understand that finding the best titles to play can be time-consuming and confusing. So we have done all the hard work to help you settle in quickly with these five titles:

SkyCrown Bonanza – BGaming

This is one of those custom-made slots you can only play at SkyCrown Casino. It’s a highly volatile slot designed by BGaming to offer a classic fruit-themed experience with an explosive 15,000x win potential. It delivers a simple design with relaxing music and bright icons to make it stand out from other fruit machines on this gaming site.

Sun of Egypt 3 – 3oaks

Launched in 2023, Sun of Egypt 3 is the third installment of this popular slot series. It’s a highly volatile slot that maintains the tradition of bringing the rewarding Hold and Win Jackpot and a decent 10,000x win potential. To boost your chances of collecting the jackpot, this game will reward you eight free spins after landing enough scatters with a retrigger option. You’ll also find a wild symbol that pays 12x the stake.

Vikings Go Berzerk – Yggdrasil

Despite launching in November 2016, this slot machine from Yggdrasil has maintained its position as one of the best Viking-themed slots. In this game, you’ll accompany brave and daring Vikings in their mission to fill up the rage meter and collect rewards. This game packs fun bonus features, including the Treasure Chest, Free Spins, and a 4,000x jackpot.

Story of the Samurai – Spinomenal

Story of the Samurai is a 2021 slot that takes you to challenge the Samurai warriors and claim big wins. It’s an exciting 5×3 slot packed with bonus features like Bonus Wheel, Mystery Symbols, Free Spins, Expanding Wilds, and Sticky Wild Respins. This game also has a friendly RTP potential of 96.71%.

Aviator – Spribe

If you haven’t played this instant game by Spribe, then you’re missing out. Launched in 2019, this game has become trendy among players due to its reliability and simplicity. The propeller airplane will take off, creating a multiplier curve representing your possible winnings. The sound effects of this game are also classy and relaxing. Enough said already!

Payment Methods Available at SkyCrown Casino

Banking is just as important as any other service an online casino offers. SkyCrown knows this, hence providing a list of 30+ secure banking methods. You can transact using online wallets, credit/debit cards, and cryptocurrencies. The minimum deposit for all payment mediums is $30, whereas the maximum depends on the selected method.
Here is a table to summarize the payment services:
https://preview.redd.it/yn5pv0fcw34d1.png?width=1182&format=png&auto=webp&s=d971b3f030596ebf32891b064dbabf856bd2b9df

Note that you will be subject to a KYC (Know Your Client) process before approving any withdrawal request. This is a standard procedure in all regulated casinos to verify your identity, location, and source of income. You must submit a copy of your identification paper, such as your ID/passport/driver's license, and proof of local address, like a bank statement/utility bill. The verification can take up to 24 hours.

Navigating the Casino: User Experience Unveiled

Everything about this casino oozes simplicity, class, and efficiency. The website is well-designed, using a minimalist and user-friendly approach. They also use an eye-friendly black background and sharp graphics, making it an excellent platform if you value those long gaming sessions.

We encountered no delays when loading up the website’s pages and games. Everything was instant and smooth, with most titles having a demo version. Finding our favourite game titles was also a breeze thanks to the intuitive search tool, although we would have preferred more game filtering options. In short, the developer did a solid job of providing a fulfilling touch when exploring the platform.

Mobile Compatibility

SkyCrown Casino works smoothly and seamlessly on mobile platforms. We tested the site on our Android and iOS smartphones and didn’t experience any disappointing lag or freeze.
As for the gaming difference, the experience is identical on iPhone and Android. You’ll find a menu icon at the top-left side of the screen, allowing you to access services like banking, account verification, loyalty program, and more. Below the menu, you’ll find game categories like Slots, Live Casino, New, Hot, and Jackpots. All in all, the mobile version is user-friendly and intuitive.

Safety and Security Measures in Place

SkyCrown Casino is a well-protected website with clear privacy policies. They are very transparent and make you aware of all the information they will collect from you. For example, this operator doesn’t rent or sell player data to third parties and is bound by strict legal provisions to protect your private data.
We can confirm that SkyCrown uses 128-bit SSL encryption technology from Let’s Encrypt. This is the standard data protection measure most Canadian casino sites use to secure your information from hackers and scammers. Another thing, you can set up 2-factor authentication to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
We also did our checks to see if we could find any red flags on platforms like Trustpilot and Reddit. Most bad reviews were about players who couldn’t withdraw funds after failing the KYC test. Provide the requested documents, and you won’t have any payment complaints.

Customer Support

Unfortunately, customer support is an area where SkyCrown Casino needs to improve. As a registered member, we found no live chat support, which is disappointing. Instead, they let you speak to an agent via email at [support@skycrown.com](mailto:support@skycrown.com). You can also complete the online contact form on the “Support” page.
But before contacting the support team, it’s worth checking if your concerns have been addressed on the FAQ page. Here, they list and answer some of the most common questions regarding account registration, payments, safety, bonuses, and more. If you’re new to crypto gambling, there is also a helpful page to read.
You can contact their support team in the following languages:
  • English
  • French
  • German

What's the Verdict?

SkyCrown Casino passes our test of a reliable Canadian gambling site. We love the wide selection of games and the vast variety of bonuses and promotions for new and loyal members. This site also does well in the payments department, providing tens of reliable fiat and cryptocurrency banking methods. And lest I forget, withdrawals via most of these payment mediums are instant, which is rare in the iGaming scene. The only drawback here is the limited customer support options. We give it a solid 4.5/5!

2024.06.02 08:45 Throwaway-74754 AITAH for not trying harder to save my friendship?

Disclaimer: THIS POST IS VERY LONG!!!
Other disclaimer: This is a post I made on a website a month ago but no one responded unfortunately. So when you read stuff like “a week ago” and see the dates don’t correlate to now, that’s why.
Background information: I had two friends, one a guy and the other a girl. We were all online friends for years, me and the guy were friends since I was in elementary school.
Starting with the guy who from here on I’ll call Blake (not his real name of course) me and Blake were the best of buds, we played the game basically every day, and regardless of our different lives and us only being online friends, I actually liked Blake a lot (as a friend). But Blake had a tendency of bullying me, which didn't bother me too much when I was younger, but as I got older, I did. For example, I told Blake one time that I failed/got held back in first grade, and he would bring that fact up whenever anything intelligence-wise come up or just bring it up out the blue. “N word, you failed the first grade” or “ok…flunky” and other variations. He would say all that…even though first grade was a million years ago (I’m a senior about to graduate high school, and I haven’t gotten held back or struggled with grades since.) (I’ve graduated high school now!). Like I'm about to graduate and he would still make fun of me with that fact, saying stuff like "you would've graduated soon if you didn't fail the first grade" and if I tried to rebuttal saying how I do well in school, he would say "well you did the first grade twice so of course you'd do better. you've done it twice".
He would constantly compare his life to mine, making fun of how I’m a virgin who never done anything with a girl, my social anxiety, me being a loner, how I don’t have as much money as him, how my parents are not as laid-back as his, how I didn’t have as much money as him, make fun of the type of girls I like, my music taste, and more.
He was controlling while we played games. He would always decide what games we played, and he would bitch and moan when I wouldn’t get onto a game he wanted to play with me despite valid reasons like it being too expensive. He would always be on his phone or just be otherwise distracted for long periods of time when we're playing, and then he would expect me to wait for him. He was especially very controlling when we play a game like R6s, he would be in my ear after he died ordering me around and telling me what to do and where to go, expecting me to get kills when I’m completely trash at the game, then he would complain heavily when I would of course die. Note: he was a frequent rage quitter and frequently switched games, which was very annoying
There is way more things he would do but if I typed them all out, I would be typing all damn day, so I’ll stop here.
Next is the girl, who I’ll refer to as Amber.
Amber was not so bad, she was annoying at times, and she would sometimes mimic the things Blake did but overall, she was alright. But she did contribute to the situation I’m in as well as Blake did overall.
For the last year, It got to the point where I would be so fed up with them, mostly with Blake, that I would ghost them, not talk or play with them for a few days to basically recover before interacting with the two again. I would even groan in annoyance when either one of them would call me. I would either ignore their calls or make up a lie of me being busy with other things so i wouldn’t have to play with them.
Now I know what you guys are thinking, "why didn't you tell them how you felt about their treatment of you???", well, I tried, but I would just be met with being called a "pussy" or "soft" and the behavior wouldn't change.
Now: Now let’s go back about three weeks ago, April 1st, my 19th birthday, Amber called me up and told me to hop on the game, I was in the ignoring them phase, but I decided to hop on because they wouldn’t be mean to me, right? Wrong, they told me to install rocket league, a game I’ve never played in my entire life and when I was able to join their game and we got into a match, I was obviously performing very very poorly, but that didn’t stop them very berating me and telling me how trash I am…even though they been playing longer than me.
Then we got on Roblox, and I was having technical difficulties because I was using the Microsoft store version of Roblox as I didn’t know that there was an actual Roblox client and launcher. when the two found out that I was using the Microsoft store version, they proceeded to berate me and belittle me some more, calling me stupid and dumb and questioning how in the world did I not know about the Roblox launcher and just basically making it feel like I just committed a cardinal sin. Then we play some Roblox, and somehow someway I kept on doing things wrong and games were playing because I kept on getting berated and belittled. Eventually, I got off.
I didn’t talk to them on the second, but I did talk to them and play with them on the third. We ended up playing Roblox again and just like last time I was getting berated and belittled because I would do things that they didn’t like. And after a couple hours, we eventually stopped playing Roblox and it suddenly goes into Blake diss tracking me. He would find random rap instrumentals on YouTube and then he would rap over them dissing me. He then told me to diss him back but I didn’t want to cause I was already in a bad mood, and I’m not good with words so I would make a fool of myself. And despite me saying multiple times that I didn’t want to rap, they both kept saying that I had to rap, eventually I just unplugged my mic and said that my mic was broken, which caused Blake to be like “if you don’t want to rap just say that dude, you don’t have to do all that”, like, bruh, I said I didn’t want to rap multiple times…
Eventually, I left a discord call and went to sleep because I had school in the morning, and when I woke up in the morning and checked my Discord, I saw that I had a message from Blake and the message said “pussy”. After that, I ignored them again until the 6th. When I took my phone off chill mode (do not disturb which I have specifically to hide text and calls from Blake and Amber) I noticed that Blake unfollowed me on Instagram and that he kicked me out of the discord server (it was of course his server as he liked being in control of everything). I was like "damn", but I just went on about my day, Amber was still following me though.
Now today, the 25th of April, I realized that Amber unfollowed me on Instagram as well, and that they both blocked me on Steam. So, I thought our friendship was over, so decide to unfollow both of them on Instagram, Discord, Steam, and delete both of their contacts from my phone.
I wasn't perfect in the friendship either, but I never berate or belittle either of them, bully and make fun of either of them constantly for their struggles in life or interest, and I never made either of them feel inferior. Never...
Part of me feel relief that I no longer have to deal with them anymore, but another part of me feels sad as they were both my only friends. I don't really know how to feel or if I should try to reach out to them somehow and apologize for ghosting them.
As I’m sure a lot of you can gather, I’m not a very confident person nor I’m I one that does conflict. But I feel like if I tried harder to preserve our friendship, maybe we’d still be friends? Like, maybe if I was more adamant and forceful about them stopping with their behavior? I just feel like I should have tried harder to preserve the friendship like reaching out to them both instead of just blocking them…
Am I The Asshole? For not trying harder?

2024.06.02 07:54 Embarrassed-Pear589 I'm working on a hunter x hunter themed ttrpg system and wondering what others think about it (super long)

So this originally started as an idea to use chat gpt to run a DND 5e campaign for me to use to test different character builds, then I started to wonder if I could incorporate hunter x hunter into the game. Using a really really long chat gpt prompt I wrote it actually ended up going really well so I decided to try to make it an entire system that you could kinda hopefully incorporate into any version of DND or other ttrpgs to have your own personalized hunter x hunter campaign. Now this whole thing is really messy but that's just because it's easier for my weird brain to work with. Anyway here's what I have so far 1. Primary Race: Human - The primary race is human, reflecting the "Hunter x Hunter" universe. However, players can customize their characters with unique physical traits or abilities, reflecting the diverse range of human appearances in the series.
  1. Alternative Race: Chimera Ant
    • As an alternative, players can choose to be a Chimera Ant, which allows for a mix of human and animal traits, offering unique physical and sensory abilities. This race would have its own set of strengths and vulnerabilities.
  2. Classes
    • Hunter: The main class, with sub-classes based on Hunter types (e.g., Beast Hunter, Treasure Hunter).
    • Assassin: Focused on stealth and precision, with techniques like those of the Zoldyck family. Sub-classes could be based on different assassination styles or tools.
    • Criminal: A class for those who operate outside the law, like the Phantom Troupe, with sub-classes based on criminal expertise (e.g., Thief, Bandit, Mercenary).

Nen System Integration

  1. Nen Types and Abilities
    • Each class develops Nen abilities based on their Nen type, with unique Hatsu abilities.
    • Assassins and Criminals might have Nen abilities that complement their class skills (e.g., a Thief might be a Transmuter, changing the properties of their aura to aid in stealth).
  2. Aura Points (AP)
    • This system replaces spell slots. Using Nen abilities consumes AP, which can be restored with rest.

Gameplay Mechanics

  1. Nen Training and Character Progression
    • Character leveling involves improving Nen control and developing Hatsu abilities.
  2. Combat and Nen Conflicts
    • Combat includes standard D&D mechanics and strategic use of Nen.
    • Nen-enhanced attacks and defenses: Characters can use AP to enhance physical attacks or bolster defense, adding an extra layer to combat strategy.
  3. Quests and Adventures
    • DMs craft campaigns within the "Hunter x Hunter" world, allowing exploration and interaction with familiar and new elements.

Balancing and Adaptation

  1. Balancing Races and Classes
    • Chimera Ants might have natural advantages (like enhanced senses) but also specific weaknesses (such as susceptibility to certain Nen types).
    • Each class and sub-class should offer unique advantages and playstyles without overshadowing others.
  2. Adapting Nen Abilities
    • Nen abilities must be balanced in power and utility, encouraging creative use without making them overpowered.
    • Regular player feedback and DM discretion will be essential for maintaining balance.
  3. Skill and Ability Checks
    • Incorporate Nen in skill checks, where appropriate, to allow creative problem-solving using Nen abilities.
This hybrid RPG would blend the detailed world and power system of "Hunter x Hunter" with the structured gameplay of D&D 5e, offering a rich and dynamic role-playing experience. Players can explore the complexities of Nen, engage in strategic combat, and embark on diverse quests, all while navigating the morally complex and vibrant world of "Hunter x Hunter."
Merging the power system and world of "Hunter x Hunter" with the fundamentals of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 5th Edition could create a unique and exciting tabletop RPG experience. Here's a basic framework for how it could be done:

Character Creation

  1. Races and Backgrounds: Stick to D&D's system for races and backgrounds, as these provide rich lore and diversity. However, incorporate elements from the "Hunter x Hunter" world into the backgrounds, allowing players to come from specific regions or organizations within that universe.
  2. Classes: Replace D&D classes with "Hunter" as the primary class. Sub-classes could be based on the different types of Hunters in "Hunter x Hunter" (like Beast Hunter, Treasure Hunter, Blacklist Hunter, etc.), each with unique skills and quests.
  3. Ability Scores: Use the standard D&D ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma). These will influence the character's physical and mental capabilities as usual.

Nen System Integration

  1. Nen Types: During character creation, players determine their Nen type (Enhancer, Emitter, Manipulator, Transmuter, Conjurer, Specialist). This could be chosen or determined randomly, as in the series.
  2. Nen Abilities (Hatsu): Players develop their unique Hatsu abilities, guided by their Nen type. This replaces the magic/spellcasting system of traditional D&D. Balancing these abilities would be key to ensure gameplay remains challenging and engaging.
  3. Aura Points (AP): Similar to spell slots in D&D, characters have Aura Points. Using Nen abilities consumes AP, which can be restored with rest.

Gameplay Mechanics

  1. Nen Training and Challenges: Incorporate Nen training into the leveling-up process. As characters level up, they gain more control over their Nen, unlocking new capabilities or strengthening their Hatsu.
  2. Quests and Storytelling: The DM crafts adventures within the "Hunter x Hunter" universe, allowing players to explore familiar locales and encounter characters from the series, while also introducing original plots.
  3. Combat and Challenges: Integrate D&D's combat system, but with modifications to incorporate Nen abilities. This includes Aura defense, Nen-enhanced attacks, and strategic use of Hatsu abilities. A nen user may choose to enhance their Attack power, Speed, or defense, by covering their bodies or weapons with aura. Enhanced Attack- Choosing to put 1 or more AP into enhancing attack will grant +2 to damage for each point.
Enhanced Defense- Choosing to put 1 or more points into defense will subtract -2 points of damage taken for each point.
Enhanced Speed- Choosing to put 1 or more AP into speed will grant +5 movement speed, +1 to attack bonus, and +1 to AC for every two AP, because enhancing speed is much more difficult and usually only one who's ability allows for it can enhance their speed efficiently.
Enhancing such abilities uses AP but does not deplete it. tho prolonged use of aura will cause it to weaken over time. through training this can be overcome.
  1. Nen Conflicts: Introduce Nen battles, which are more about outsmarting opponents with clever use of Nen abilities than just overpowering them.

Balancing and Adaptation

This hybrid game would offer the depth and complexity of D&D's role-playing and combat systems with the unique and intriguing Nen system from "Hunter x Hunter," creating a fresh and engaging experience for players familiar with either or both worlds.
In "Hunter x Hunter," each Nen user has an affinity for one of six Nen types: Enhancer, Emitter, Manipulator, Transmuter, Conjurer, and Specialist. We can assign a key ability score to each Nen type for calculating Aura Points (AP) and other Nen-related mechanics. Here's a suggested assignment:
  1. Enhancer
    • Key Ability: Strength or Constitution
    • Rationale: Enhancers focus on reinforcing their natural physical abilities, making Strength or Constitution a natural fit.
  2. Emitter
    • Key Ability: Charisma
    • Rationale: Emitters project their aura away from their bodies, requiring force of personality, represented by Charisma.
  3. Manipulator
    • Key Ability: Intelligence
    • Rationale: Manipulation requires precision and understanding complex systems, aligning well with Intelligence.
  4. Transmuter
    • Key Ability: Dexterity
    • Rationale: Transmuters alter the properties of their aura, requiring finesse and control, which Dexterity represents.
  5. Conjurer
    • Key Ability: Wisdom
    • Rationale: Conjurers create objects out of their aura, requiring insight and strong mental discipline, qualities associated with Wisdom.
  6. Specialist
    • Key Ability: Wisdom or Charisma
    • Rationale: Specialists have unique and varied abilities that don't fit into other categories. Wisdom or Charisma can be chosen based on the nature of the Specialist's unique ability.

Aura Points (AP) Calculation

Using the Key Ability Score

This system ties the Nen type to specific D&D ability scores, enhancing the role-playing aspect by encouraging players to consider their characters' strengths and weaknesses when choosing their Nen type and developing their abilities.
Removing traditional spellcasting and replacing it with a Nen-based system is a significant change that can fully integrate the unique aspects of "Hunter x Hunter" into your D&D game. Here's how you can adapt the Aura Point (AP) system to completely replace spellcasting:

Revised Aura Point (AP) System for Nen Abilities

1. Aura Points as the Sole Power Source - All supernatural abilities, including those that would normally be spells in D&D, are now Nen abilities powered by AP. - Characters do not have spell slots but instead use AP to activate and sustain their Nen abilities.
2. Nen Ability Categories - Classify Nen abilities into tiers, similar to spell levels: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master. - The AP cost for using an ability depends on its tier: Basic (1-2 AP), Intermediate (3-5 AP), Advanced (6-8 AP), Master (9-12 AP).
3. Learning and Developing Nen Abilities - Characters learn new Nen abilities as they level up. The number and tier of abilities they can learn and use are based on their level and key ability score. - Characters can also develop custom Nen abilities in consultation with the DM, tailored to their character's development and story.
4. Aura Point Recovery - AP is fully restored after a long rest. Half of the maximum AP is restored after a short rest. - Certain items or actions in-game could also restore AP.
5. Overexertion Risks - Using more AP than the maximum can lead to overexertion, causing fatigue, reduction in maximum hit points, or other penalties. - Severe overexertion could lead to more drastic consequences, like temporary loss of Nen abilities.
6. Nen Training and Advancement - Include quests or training sessions for characters to increase their AP maximum, reduce Nen ability costs, or learn new abilities. - This system allows for character growth and the pursuit of mastery over Nen.
7. Nen-Based Defense and Attacks - Allow characters to use AP to enhance physical attacks, defense, or to perform feats like enhanced jumps, bursts of speed, etc.
8. Balancing Nen Abilities - The DM should ensure Nen abilities are balanced within the game, avoiding overpowered combinations. - Regular feedback and adjustments may be necessary based on gameplay experience.
With this revised system, Nen becomes the central mechanic for all supernatural and extraordinary abilities in the game, deeply immersing players in the "Hunter x Hunter" universe while maintaining the strategic and role-playing elements of D&D. This approach requires careful planning and balance but offers a unique and engaging gameplay experience. for the HUNTER class, the features include
Creating detailed class features and proficiencies for each Hunter class and its subclasses in a D&D 5e format requires a comprehensive approach. I'll provide a basic outline for the "Hunter" class and one subclass, the "Beast Hunter," as an example. You can use this format as a template to develop other subclasses.

Hunter Class (General Features)

Hit Points - Hit Dice: 1d10 per Hunter level - Hit Points at 1st Level: 10 + Constitution modifier - Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d10 (or 6) + Constitution modifier per Hunter level after 1st
Proficiencies - Armor: Light armor, medium armor - Weapons: Simple weapons, martial weapons - Tools: None - Saving Throws: Dexterity, Intelligence - Skills: Choose two from Acrobatics, Survival, Investigation, Nature, Perception, Stealth
Equipment - (a) a longbow and 20 arrows or (b) any simple weapon - (a) a dungeoneer's pack or (b) an explorer's pack - Leather armor, a hunter's token, and a dagger
Features
Let's define each feature of the Hunter class in the context of a "Hunter x Hunter" and D&D 5e hybrid game:

Level 1: Nen Sensitivity

Level 1: Hunter's Expertise

Level 2: Nen Training (Basic Techniques)

Level 3: Hunter Archetype

Level 3: Nen Ability (Hatsu)

Level 4: Ability Score Improvement

Level 5: Extra Attack

Level 6: Archetype Feature

Level 7: Nen Training (Advanced Techniques)

Level 8: Ability Score Improvement

Level 9: Indomitable (1 use)

Level 10: Archetype Feature

Level 11: Improved Nen Ability

Level 12: Ability Score Improvement

Level 13: Indomitable (2 uses)

Level 14: Archetype Feature

Level 15: Nen Mastery

Level 16: Ability Score Improvement

Level 17: Indomitable (3 uses)

Level 18: Archetype Feature

Level 19: Ability Score Improvement

Level 20: Hunter's Pinnacle

These features combine D&D 5e mechanics with "Hunter x Hunter" lore, offering a comprehensive and thematic progression for characters in this hybrid game.

If you're on the apps—whether you're looking for marriage, looking for a hookup or you're just looking for a nice night out on the town—one thing is for sure: You have seconds to make a first impression that keeps someone from swiping left. What's the key? Knowing how to make your Tinder bios stand out among the rest.
If you're wondering: "What is a good bio for Tinder? How do I spice up my Tinder bio?" then you've come to the right place. Marissa Moore, a counselor and couples therapist with years of experience, gave us all her recommendations for making your bio the best of them all (plus 40 ideas for the best Tinder bios, below!)
What to Put In a Tinder Bio
So, you've opened up the "edit" section on your Tinder bio (or Hinge bio or even Bumble bio, too) and you're staring blankly at your phone. How are you supposed to know how to write a Tinder bio that will stop someone in their tracks?
How Dating Apps Are Changing Our Psychology
The secret, Moore says, is deciding between a few different formulas, and sticking to one. Remember: This doesn't have to be super complicated. It's actually supposed to be fun! To get started, use these are a guide on what to put in Tinder bio:
Everyone loves a perfectly-timed one-liner, right? Write something that captures your personality or sense of humor.
Want to keep it straight forward? Go the old-fashioned route and write a brief description of yourself, highlighting your interests, hobbies or passions.
You're funny, so maybe use this time to show it off. Using a joke or witty remark can be a great way to give someone a sense of your personality, too.
Lastly, if you're a romantic at heart or suave in your own right, try using a creative and flirty pick up line that stands out (but avoid anything overly cheesy or inappropriate.)
How to Write a Tinder Bio
Now that you've got a road map for how to make a good Tinder bio—i.e. you've chosen a one-liner, keeping it straight forward, leaning on your humor or a pick up line—what is the best way to approach actually writing it all out?
Whether you're looking to write clever Tinder bios, Tinder bios for guys or just wanting to make your dating app bio shine with your personality, Moore has a few tried-and-true tricks up her sleeve to stand out.
Be Authentic
It might be tempting to want to make yourself look "better" than you are IRL, but this is never a good idea, and your dates will learn the truth eventually. That's why Moore suggests the biggest piece of advice: to be authentic.
Good Morning Texts For Her
Wake Her With A Smile With These 82 Good Morning Texts
Let her know that she's always the first thing on your mind.
Woman looks at her phone while smiling.
Funny, punny and non-corny inpsiration, right this way.
"Showcase your genuine personality and interests," Moore says. "Rather than trying to portray yourself as someone you're not."
Keep it Concise
Next up? Make sure to keep your Tinder bios as concise as possible. Remember: you've got seconds to impress the person on the other end — let's make sure you get a swipe right.
"Aim for a bio that is clear, concise and easy to read," she says. "Avoid overwhelming potential matches with too much information."
Show, Don't Tell
Another tip? Show, don't tell. According to Moore, Instead of listing qualities about yourself, you might consider sharing anecdotes or stories that illustrate who you are and what you enjoy. This can sometimes be more intriguing.
Highlight Your Unique Traits
What makes you unique is a good thing! Use it to your advantage. By focusing on what makes you stand out from the crowd, and what you can offer in a relationship, you may find someone who already loves your quirks and differences, right off the bat.
Funny Tinder Bios
Do you consider yourself a comic? If so, you might have chosen going with the funny Tinder bios route. If so, here are some ideas to use, below.

2024.06.02 07:05 dermouseman Cannot turn off Restricted Content mode

So, I'm currently using iTunes for Windows (Version 12.13..2.3) and for some reason iTunes is locking me out from playing some of my music, movies and tv shows giving a restriction notice (see attachments). It will not let me play Robin Williams' first comedy album "Reality What a Concept", Movies like Good Morning Vietnam, Rob Zombie's Haunted Adventures of El Superbeasto and TV shows like Family Guy, The Simpsons and Rick and Morty,
It should noted that when I go into Edit > Preferences > Restrictions, None of the boxes with the exception of "Show content ratings in library" which just shows what a particular song, movie or TV show is rated it has nothing to do with restricting playing the content. I shredded the iTunes Library, iTunes Genius and iTunes Library Extra from the iTunes folder and generated new files but that doesn't seem to work.
I am at my wits end here and really would appreciate some advice.

2024.06.02 07:01 SharkEva Would I would be the jerk if I chose a opportunity over my church?

I am not the OOP. The OOP is u/OpiumKao posting in AmITheJerk

Original - 276th May 2024
Update1 - 28th May 2024
Update2 - 31st May 2024

Would I would be the jerk if I chose a opportunity over my church?

I (20F) have played cello since I was in 6th grade. I am generally good at it to say the least but average since I'm better at acedamics and art than playing my cello. My parents are very religious and we live in a a town a little bit away from a city.
Cause of some stupid reasons, I am the only cello still willing to work ar our church. I get played but I only get payed $12 for a 3 sometimes 4 hour performance. While I was practicing some art my friend (21M) called me, and said that a new place in our town was opening up and they needed a second teacher for the cello classes. I immediately went over and have been working there for a little over a month. While there the small school's principal managed to get my class a place in a orchestra concert in the city. It wasn't in the center just at the edge but my students were really excited. When we arrived. I played with my students a little bit for practice. The concert had went really well and I really enjoyed it.
Due to this. A man around 40 had walked up to me after the concert. He said he had heard me playing with my students and asked if I could play in a huge orchestra in around the center of the city. I was really interested since this could get good opportunities in both art and cello.
There is a bit of problem though. My parents had asked me before if I could play at my church on the same day of the concert ant at a uncomfortable amount of time gap. I didn't agree to it and said I would think about it. But now I really am concerned. I care about my parents and I enjoy my church. But I will get good opportunities at the big concert and they are willing to pay me $20 and hour if I play and help set up.
The problem with the church concert is that it will be 3 hours long and they actually are only going to pay me $15 for setting up AND playing the 3 hours which I am not very comfortable with.
So? Would I be the jerk if I chose an opportunity over my church?
TLDR; I got a good opportunity to play in a concert in around the center of the city. But on the same day is my church's concert. The concert is willing to pay $20 an hour for my troubles. While my church is going to only pay me $15 for setting up AND playing the 3 hours.

Church is taking advantage of you and I'm sure you're not rolling in money. The church will survive without a cello player.

madogvelkor
Yeah. And a lot of people play/sing for free or cheap at their church for personal reasons. My grandfather wasn't even really Catholic but he sang in the choir and my grandmother (who was devout Catholic) played the organ. He hated church but loved singing church music.
That said, it's about personal choice. If you need the money and aren't just playing for your own love of the music then go for the orchestra.
OOP: I just have to say wow. I know its only been a couple hours. But I just have to thank you all for the advice. I have constantly been looking through your comments and I may reply to some. Not all. But definitely Atleast 10. So thank you for your support.
Edit: I'm going to tell them. I don't know how they will react but I am. The concert is on Sunday so this will be kinda in advance. I really do feel bad about it though

Update - 1 day later

A couple hours earlier I told my parents. To say my mom was angry was on understatement. She yelled and screamed at me that she had already told the church that I was going to play at the church. And they needed me there. I reminded her about what I said before when she asked. When my mom figured out I wasn't going to change my mind, she threatened to take my devices. Like seriously? I may for them. I reminded her that. But she didn't care. She continued screaming until she reached my room and started grabbing my phone. Art tablet. Laptop. PS5. EVERYTHING.
While doing so my dad joined in on my mom's side and told me I was making them look bad to the church. Before she even walked out the room. I started calling my dad's parents. Telling them what going on. While my mom was still screaming and yelling while taking my stuff into her room telling me I'm not getting them back until our next concert. Which was literally a week away. My paternal grandfather entered our house with his spare key and started screaming and my mom to put my stuff back in my room before he takes HER phone.
My mother, being the always scared of my grandfather person that she is. She put all my stuff in my room, but before she could. He told her to put my stuff in his truck. Which she had to do all by herself. My dad was forced to apologize to me and then my mother. It was obviously 1/2-hearted but I was just pleased they were forced to apologize.
I am currently at my grandparents place, and the reason this happened so late is cause I went on a shopping spree with my grandmother and her friends. They are the sweetest ladies ever. And I had alot of fun. I even able to buy another music piece its a little simple for my liking but I like the beat.
Just a quick update. We just got back and my grandparents are downstairs drinking and stuff, talking about their youthful days. My grandfather said feel free to take his truck to a friends place. So I'm about to do that after the post. Thanks for the support from the last post everyone 💓 thank you

Good on you OP for not backing down for this amazing opportunity, and I hope the orchestra works out for you!

Ditto and true delight to hear that your grandparents are awesome

Update - 2 days later

My parents are insane. Alot has happened so bare with me.
The day after my post I got a call for the man I the opportunity with, he sounded pissed. He asked if I was a minor. But first I asked how he got my number. He told me he got a call from my parents saying that I am a minor and as their guardian they will not allow me to play in the orchestra. As a side note. I am 20F, but due to genetics I look like around 16-17.
I told him I am not a minor but he seemed to believe my parents over me and he sent me a screenshot of my birth certificate... Those crazy people gave them a fake certificate that made it look like I was 16. He said due to no minors being allowed in the orchestra, my seat will be removed only if I can verify if I am not a minor.
I tried to convince him with my ID but he said that my parents told him I would show them a fake ID and I will be getting removed from the orchestra and he hung up.
Me. In tears, told my grandparents and they were not happy. Especially my grandmother. Another side note, my grandmother's mother was a cello player, but due to a accident she died when she was 29. So to find out I couldn't play my instrument anymore in this orchestra she was beyond to the point SHE ACTUALLY DRIVED. My grandmother rarely drives.
After the drive my grandmother had a screaming match with both my parents while my grandfather went to the place of the orchestra to get me verified for my seat again. I was a mess the whole way. We managed after 3 hours to get me verified but by then when we got back my grandmother was chewing out my dad and mom while they sat quietly.
The next day was the most satisfying thing I've ever felt
I found out my parents will be taking me out their will. The will that my GRANDPARENTS practically control since my grandparents pay half their bills. A couple minutes after. My grandparents called them and them that if they take me out their will, they will remove my dad out their will and give all the assets to me including the will they will already planning to give me, which was already a lump some of money and some rent houses they own.
My parents are trying to hold their ground, but a couple hours later they said they will also not be paying the bills they have been paying.
Then finally after those two threats. They are still trying to hold their ground. My grandparents have two other children, both daughters and older than my father, so I'm not surprised if they instead give them the assets instead of me.
My father called my two hours ago and called me a failure to my family and their church. Personally I thought that would hurt. But I didn't feel much. More like?... Relief! I felt so RELIEVED! I never felt this way before and I might actually ask them to disown me. I'm sick and tired of their trash and how many things I have done for that church and STILL be underpaid!
Hopefully this will be my last update but ask questions in the comments and I may answer. I just want to get this behind me.

Anyone who chooses the church over their children is a huge AH and doesn’t deserve children. Your parents are awful and if they were mine, I wouldn’t want anything to do with them.

Yep, the whole "Thy shalt not bear false witness" flew right over their heads.

I love your grandparents! And go you! I’m glad you’ll get to play in the orchestra anyway.

2024.06.02 06:55 mansplanar The 11 Best Bumble Prompts and How to Answer Them to Strategically Meet Your Match

Somewhere between 90 and 95% of openers I get are either "hi" or "hey." So literally anything else puts you sonewhere in the top 10%. Even "HEY ASSHOLE! would at least be memorable. So I wouldn't sweat it too much; the bar is set really low.
If you're really insistent, though, it's thd same sort of stuff women want in an opener, just with waaaayyyy less competition. And if you can somehow prove you're not a scammer while you're at it, even better.
The opener I start with is usually something easy to answer and invites a thoughtful response. Such as, "What is your go to karaoke song?" or "What's your favorite thing about living [insert city]"? or "What's your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?"
I usually get the conversation started and then if he doesn't match my energy, I unmatch.
One of my favorite opening lines I got from a guy was “Hi there! Let me know what you think of the following:
A white picket fence house, a couple dogs, some nice cars, maybe a boat for weekend trips to the lake, and we can do that for about 5 years until you get sick of me. After that we divorce, I let you keep everything, and we’ll call it a good time!”
Made me laugh and for being an introvert who struggles immensely with conversation this helped relax me instantly.
The online dating world is vast, with a plethora of apps to choose from. However, according to a study by Statista, one outranks them all when it comes to finding love: Bumble. The app, known for letting women make the first move, has since expanded into a networking platform for building both friendships and professional connections. But if you’re still interested in using Bumble for its original intent, you might be wondering how to go about answering all those Bumble prompts, of which there are over 40 to choose from. Here, we’ve rounded up ten of the best Bumble prompts, plus example answers. So fill out that profile, pick your preferred zodiac sign to date (it’s Pisces, right?) and watch the notifications roll in—before you know it, you’ll be needing a spreadsheet to track all those dates.
How Do You Write a Good Bumble Prompt?
The best way to write a good Bumble prompt response is to be honest, specific and positive, according to experts. If you leave your profile generic (or worse, empty), you’re not giving dates enough information to work with so that they can start a conversation. So, focus on being clear about what you want (without being a negative nelly) and don’t be afraid to throw a little humor in there, too. After all, laugher is proven to help us relax, and when we feel at ease, we’re more comfortable sharing about ourselves and learning about others.
The Best Bumble Prompts and How to Answer Them
  1. Perfect First Date...
This Bumble prompt is a great way to let potential matches know what you’re expecting, so be specific. “Drinks” is not going to cut it. Instead, write out a little itinerary—it doesn’t have to be incredibly detailed, but it should give someone an idea of what you enjoy. Maybe it’s a picnic in a park. Perhaps you lean towards the classic dinner and a movie, or you love art museums, comedy clubs and bookstores.
What you can say:
Catching a flick (sci-fi or rom-com) followed by dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. If the sky is clear, we’d drive up to Griffith Park and have a little La La Land moment.
Picnic in Central Park and then a ride in a rowboat—you’re doing the rowing, of course. We’d top it off with ice cream and maybe a bookstore jaunt.
We’d eat our way through Smorgasburg in Brooklyn and then sit on the pier looking at the Manhattan skyline as the sun sets.
  1. I Get Way too Excited About...
Behavioral scientist and author Logan Ury advises that a successful dating profile makes it easy for someone to start a conversation with you. Use this prompt to talk about something you’re passionate about. Restaurant openings, golf, Bluey, painting, opera, rock climbing, cooking, Paris, Marvel...whatever you can’t stop talking about goes right here. Don’t worry about appealing to the masses—the right person, who might also love these things (or just love how much you love them), will come.
What you can say:
Paris in the springtime. I took a gap year there and love going every April to see the cherry blossoms, and one day I’d love to do a tour through Provence to see the lavender, too.
Rock climbing. I’m at the climbing gym at least twice a week and love going bouldering once a month with my club. If you haven’t seen Free Solo, you’re missing out.
Broadway shows. Every year, my dad and I spend a weekend in NYC marathoning every single musical we can get tickets for. I’ve seen Phantom of the Opera five times and yes, I’m crushed that it’s closing.
  1. A Pro and Con of Dating Me...
Stay away from the “beige flags” here. Ury has previously explained that beige flags are clichés, and the whole goal here is to stand out. So be honest and own both your pros and cons, all while finding a way to keep it lighthearted. Debbie-downers aren’t good first impressions.
What you can say:
Pro: I’m a great baker, so you’ll always have fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. Con: I’m definitely a planner and being spontaneous can be hard, but I’m working on embracing last-minute adventure.
Pro: I’m on the pulse of the restaurant scene and always have great recs. Con: I can’t stand the MCU. (But I’ll make an occasional concession.)
Pro: I’ll never ask you to TikTok dance with me. Con: I can be slow replying to texts—but I’m working on it!
  1. A Non-Negotiable...
This Bumble prompt is important because it can be your deal breaker, however, avoid being super negative. We all have our icks, but as dating coach Lindsay O’Brien has told us, you don’t want to spiral on a list of things you don’t want, because it can imply emotional baggage. (That’s not a bad thing and a lot of us have it—it’s just not something you might want to spill in the “handshake” phase of dating.) Use this prompt to reveal qualities, values and even shared dreams/goals you’d like the person to have.
What you can say:
Great communicator.
You like and are conversational about art, books and travel.
You think living abroad for a few years sounds like an ultimate bucket-list adventure.
  1. My Real-Life Superpower Is...
This one can be a lighthearted icebreaker or a lean more serious. Whether it’s a quirky talent or your favorite quality about yourself, share it. Just, as noted above, stay away from the clichés.
What you can say:
Making conversation with strangers and putting them at ease.
Cooking for a crowd.
Somehow always managing to win the Broadway lottery.
  1. After Work You Can Find Me...
Here’s another Bumble prompt that can show not just your interests but how you spend your time. If you’re a budding cocktail connoisseur, maybe your future date will find you at the latest trendy opening in the city. If you love art, you might be taking advantage of museums’ free admissions nights before heading home. Tell potential matches how you want to spend your time, so you don’t waste time getting to know people who aren’t interested in those things.
What you can say:
Curled in bed with a book—I live for murder mysteries, Jane Austen and fantasy novels.
At a concert; I’m obsessed with alternative rock and country music.
Baking cookies while watching the latest season of The Bachelorette.
  1. I Promise I Won’t Judge You If...
Now is not quite the time to get serious with a heavy hitter, so use this prompt to get silly and show your sense of humor, while potentially revealing your own eccentricities in the process.
You totally trip over nothing on the sidewalk, because I do that at least three times a week.
You haven’t read Pride and Prejudice, as long as you promise to watch the Kiera Knightley version with me.
You have zero sense of direction. Me too.
  1. Favorite Quality in a Person...
Here’s a chance to cast a reel for the good traits you're looking for. Again, diving deep is key, so try to avoid things like “nice.” A lot of people and things are nice. Elaborate on what you want to see in a nice person.
What you can say:
The way he/she makes eye contact with the people they speak to, making them feel seen and heard.
Remembering important dates—birthdays, anniversaries—and celebrating them.
Prioritizing others’ needs first, while still having healthy boundaries.
  1. I’m a Great Plus One Because...
A lot of your answers to Bumble prompts will be serious. This one is a chance to be less so. Flaunt your funnier side and tell them why taking you to a company party, wedding, family or other social event will be a good time.
What you can say:
I’ll totally stick by you if you’re the wallflower.
I can talk about literally any subject.
My dance moves can’t be beat.
  1. A Review from a Friend...
We want to know what other people think, so now’s the time to reel in a friend and have them give you a review. It’s always interesting to see how we are perceived by others, and as your profile is filled with prompts that you’ve answered from your own perspective, calling in a review will give potential matches a look into who you are that highlights qualities you may have glossed over.
What you can ask your friend to talk about:
Your personality traits that they like.
A favorite memory together.
Five reasons they would date you.
  1. My Favorite Quality in a Person...
Time to pull out your dream list of a person’s best qualities and...ask for them. (Gasp!) As dating coach Lindsay O’Brien has previously told PureWow, it pays to be clear up front so that the right people can find you. Just make sure to keep it positive, because listing the negatives (ex. Someone who doesn’t [insert quality here]) can suggest relationship baggage. “For example,” she says, “If you don’t want someone who is sarcastic or critical, you can say, ‘A sweet guy makes my heart melt.’”
What you can say:
A sense of humor.
Planner extraordinaire.
Thoughtfulness.

2024.06.02 06:51 chocolatecauldrons Part II: The Anthology - An Analysis of Each Track

Thank you guys for all your nice comments on my previous post! Here's my followup post walking through the anthology - I apologize for the delay, but I wanted to sit with this half of the album a bit longer. This analysis will be slightly different: first I’ll go through themes present throughout the anthology, and then walk through each song individually, since it’s not as consecutive of a story as the first album. As with my first analysis, I tend to also stay away from literal details as proof that a song is about a certain subject or muse – to me, it’s easier to understand the album when you think first about what the song’s overarching meaning is, rather than getting caught up in literal details (and I think Taylor often throws these in as red herrings). Moreover, it’s important to note that it’s likely that the literal detail she’s thrown in is one that only she and the muse will understand (i.e. her referencing a lilac skirt in imgonnagetyouback is unlikely to be one we’ve ever seen her wearing in public, so it’s useless to paternity test based on that detail!).
Firstly, the word anthology means a collection of assorted literary works. As a result, I think there are more themes scattered through this album, and it’s meant to be a little harder to parse than the first one. I think this album is what TTPD would have been before it crystallized into a tighter theme – similar to the 3 AM tracks for Midnights, the majority of which were written prior to the standard edition’s tracks.
There are a few themes throughout this album. From a romantic context, to me, this album is primarily about Joe. I’ll walk through why I believe that, but this album feels less muddled to me in terms of its muses, and I think that is in part due to the fact that her self-described mania from the standard edition is not a theme on the anthology. This work also covers her own relationship to celebrity and fame, and how that affects her romantic relationships and her personal life in general. And finally, I think the final theme throughout this collection is the idea of childhood, of formative experiences, and how our author goes about processing events that happen to her.
The Black Dog
What happens when you intimately know someone, when you share every aspect of your life with someone, and then it's over? Six weeks after their breakup, she’s barely holding it together (“I move through the world with the heartbroken”). She even tried to rebound her pain away (“I took the miracle move on drug, the effects were temporary”), and wasn’t able to succeed. Meanwhile, she sees him go to a bar, and she has the sudden realization that he may be able to do what she failed to do – he might be able to move on, with someone new. Reckoning with that realization is horrifying. If he is able to pull it off, what does that mean about the love they shared? When he had told her for years that he was who he was for her, and her alone?
You said I needed a bravе man
Then proceeded to play him
Until I believed it too
And it kills me
How could they go from being so intimate that they shower together, that she’s aware of his every move, to being so distant from each other that she wonders if making her fall in love with him was a hazing? And the cruelest part of it is – she doesn’t want either one of them to be able to move on, and give validity to the fact that they weren’t right for each other, even though she knows they have to. Moreover, she’s already *tried* to move on at this point, and failed – she tried to manufacture a counterfeit version of their intimacy, but what if he’s able to perfectly replicate it? And to really drive in the knife, what if it’s with someone younger than her?
And you jump up, but she's too young to know this song
That was intertwined in the magic fabric of our dreaming
Given that a theme throughout the first album was her feeling like she’d given him so much of her youth, so much of her childbearing years, with nothing to show for it, what does it feel like to know that he can essentially reset time, by being with a younger woman, but she’ll never be able to get that time back?
imgonnagetyouback
We know that her and Joe took a break or two while they were together (see: Hits Different, The Great War, in addition to PR articles). To me, this song is about when you do take that break from your partner, and you’re trying to make a point to them that they’re not going to find anyone better than you (I can tell when somebody still wants me, come clean) – the two of you are too intimately intertwined to find a suitable replacement. You know what to wear, what to say, what to do to bring them back to you:
I, I hear thе whispers in your eyes
I'll make you wanna think twice
You'll find that you were never not mine
This song also has a lot of similarities to So Long, London, which is why I attribute it to Joe. To me, it provides a deeper story to some of the lines she touches on in So Long, London:
I didn't opt in to be your odd man out
I founded the club she's heard great things about
And to some of the lines in Hits Different:
I washed my hands of us at the club
You made a mess of me
I pictured you with other girls in love
Then threw up on the street
//
Bet I could still melt your world
Argumentative, antithetical dream girl
imgonnagetyouback is a story of one-upmanship – of trying to out-jealous your partner, of proving to them that nobody knows them better than you do. And maybe this time when they’re both playing this game, it works:
Push the reset button, we're becomin' something new
Say you got somebody, I'll say I got someone too
Even if it's handcuffed, I'm leavin' here with you
//
We broke all the pieces, but still wanna play the game (Oh)
Told my friends I hate you, but I love you just the same
Pick your poison, babe, I'm poison either way
The spacing to me is a deliberate red herring (the 1975 very famously made a song called fallingforyou), and a way to illustrate that the subject of the song wants space from her – but she’s not going to give it to him. This is another theme that calls back to Joe – in So Long, London, she describes him as constantly pulling away (Pulled him in tighter each time he was driftin' away). Matty didn’t pull away – he was all in for two weeks, until he chose to ghost her, and leave abruptly. There was no slow death, no push and pull to her relationship with Matty – it was a meteoric rise and fall.
The Albatross
This song feels like a sister song to “peace” – she describes what it’s like to love her. It’s a little more twisted, however, as she describes her love for her partner as both a danger, and a rescue from the danger she’s imposing on him by being involved with him:
Wise men once said
"Wild winds are death to the candle"
A rose by any other name is a scandal
Cautions issued, he stood
Shooting the messengers
They tried to warn him about her
She’s described herself as wind and liquor in her relationship with Joe previously, in Mastermind:
I'm the wind in our free-flowing sails
And the liquor in our cocktails
She has empathy for the narrator, but disdain for herself. There’s also acceptance though: she knows that she tried to prevent it, and tried to warn him about the danger she posed. In the end though, he chose this life with her, and he chose the danger – there’s only so much she can protect him from.
The devil that you know
Looks now more like an angel
I'm the life you chose
And all this terrible danger
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
This song feels like another sister song to The Black Dog – how does she cope with the idea that her long-time partner might move on? How does she cope with the fact that if she chooses to leave, she also chooses the future in which they both move on? A future in which they don’t know each other? It also touches on her wondering if she should move on with Matty, and how feasible it would be to know someone else instead of her partner:
If you want to tear my world apart
Just say you've always wondered
This song, more than anything else, illustrates that moving on with Matty was nothing but a way to move past Joe – what she really wants, more than anything, is a response greater than indifference from Joe:
As the decade would play us for fools
And you saw my bones out with somebody new
Who seemed like he would've bullied you in school
And you just watched it happen
There’s also the realization that Joe may never love who she is now – who she was at the beginning of their relationship will always be who he prefers:
If you want to break my cold, cold heart
Just say, 'I loved you the way that you were'
She’s trying desperately to find some way to make up for the fact that she had to leave Joe, that there was nothing she could do to stay – she tried changing everything about herself, but still, the need to leave him eventually caught up with her:
I changed into goddesses, villains and fools
Changed plans and lovers and outfits and rules
All to outrun my desertion of you
And you just watched it
And she wonders whether despite his indifference, and the distance between them, she should still stay:
Could it be enough to just float in your orbit
Can we watch our phantoms like watching wild horses
Cooler in theory but not if you force it
To be, it just didn't happen
But now, they are merely ghosts of who they once were – it’s not possible to force the relationship anymore.
How Did It End?
When a long-term relationship ends, you can point to the factors that led to its demise: a difference of opinions on money, on marriage, on children, and so forth. It is easy to determine the “what” and the “why” of an ending. But what is harder to diagnose is how you both became the versions of yourselves that weren’t on the same page, that were unable to discuss these topics, that couldn’t move past these dilemmas. That is much, much harder to pinpoint, and this is the question Taylor asks in this song. She knows what killed them:
We hereby conduct this post-mortem
He was a hot house flower to my outdoorsman
//
We were blind to unforeseen circumstances
We learn the right steps to different dances (ohh)
And fell victim to interlopers' glances
Lost the game of chance, what are the chances?
But what she still doesn't know is how it happened – how did it end? She also finds the empathy from the media and from the public to be false and selfish – they only want to know what happened to feverishly spread the news like wildfire.
Come one, come all
It's happenin' again
The empathetic hunger descends
We'll tell no one
Except all of our friends
We must know
How did it end?
//
Soon they'll go home to their husbands
Smug 'cause they know they can trust him
Then feverishly calling their cousins (ohh)
//
Say it once again with feeling
What the feeding frenzy wants more than anything is gossip, and they don’t care that she is utterly lost – lost as to why this happened, and lost physically and mentally:
Guess who we ran into at the shops?
Walking in circles like she was lost
How does she give an answer to quell the empathetic hunger, when she herself doesn’t understand exactly how it happened?
So High School
In an album that touches so much on feeling like she’s running out of time to have the future that she wants, and running out of youth to give the various men who come into her life, it is interesting and heartwarming that the song about Travis on the anthology is one that describes being with him as regaining her youth:
The brink of a wrinkle in time
Bittersweet sixteen suddenly
Moreover, another detail to note in this song is the difference in how she describes alcohol and drugs – in nearly every other song on TTPD, alcohol is a vice she uses in her moments of despair, and drugs are what her previous partners turn to in their moments of strife (she also describes the influence of drugs on her partners as something she detests – “sinking in stoned oblivion” and “you needed me but you needed drugs more”). With Travis, she’s not imbibing in any substances – instead, his thoughts and jokes are enough for her:
I'll drink what you think, and I'm high
From smoking your jokes all damn night
Travis is giving her back her youth, making sober promises, and the impression that we get is that they’re building this dreamlike reality together – it’s wholesome, all-American, and high-school-inspired, yet still grounded in something tangible, unlike the promise of fate and destiny, which powered her relationship with Joe and her entanglement with Matty.
I Hate It Here
More than anything, I think this song illustrates how Taylor sometimes uses escapism and maladaptive daydreaming to ignore the reality of the situation she’s dealing with. She recognizes that it’s not possible to stay where she is, locked inside this prison of stagnation and boredom:
If comfort is a construct
I don't believe in good luck
Now that I know what's what
She recognizes that this isn’t what she used to be, and that she never intended to choose this life of secrecy, perhaps alluding to all those years she spent “locked inside her house”:
You see I was a debutante in another life but
Now I seem to be scared to go outside
She describes herself as finding hope in the places her mind creates (seemingly alluding to her creation of characters and places for folklore and evermore):
I hate it here so I will go to
secret gardens in my mind
People need a key to get to
The only one is mine
I read about it in a book when I was a precocious child
And her escapism into her past, and imaginings of what could have been:
I hate it here so I will go to
Lunar valleys in my mind
When they found a better planet
Only the gentle survived
I dreamed about it in the dark
The night I felt like I might die
All throughout the song, there’s recognition that she doesn’t want to be here – she doesn’t want to feel as if the only place she can be free is in these imaginary worlds she creates. But there’s also concession – is she perhaps only destined for an eternal consolation prize? For loneliness? For imagined romanticism? For the fantasy of how she imagined her life and her love to be?
I'm lonely but I'm good
I'm bitter but I swear I'm fine
I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life and I'll get lost on
purpose
This place made me feel worthless
Lucid dreams like electricity, the current flies through me,
and in my fantasies I rise above it
And way up there, I actually love it
thanK you aIMee
This song, along with a few others in the latter half of the anthology, discusses the loss of innocence she felt in key moments of her life. This one quite obviously alludes to Kim Kardashian, and their infamous feud. I will make a separate post on this, but I think people describing this song as petty may not remember the depth of the hate aimed at Taylor in 2016. Kim and Kanye organized a revenge porn music video for Famous, and held a museum exhibit so that people could take pictures with the naked dolls. The night the snapchat videos were released, every Kardashian family member descended upon social media to gleefully celebrate the #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty. The amount of hate Taylor got was so unprecedented that Instagram actually built their comment filtration system because of this incident. It really was that bad.
And every baby step Taylor took (for example, even just posting that she had a good 2017 was met with immediate media backlash) was quite literally mocked across the internet. People thought the reputation era was cringey, that she was over, and that she deserved everyone’s ire because she was “proven” to be a liar. She describes this in the song:
Each time that Aimee stomped across my grave
And then she wrote headlines in the local paper
Laughing at each baby step I'd take
And it was always the same searing pain
But the whole time, despite the pain and blood, she was dreaming of the day that she would heal, and dreaming of the day that she would climb her way back to to the mountaintop:
And our town, it looks so small from way up here
//
So I pushed each boulder up that hill
Your words were still just ringing in my head, ringing in my head
What still irks her though, is that this bully who created this entire hate train and organized her downfall will pretend as if it never happened – she will undoubtedly reframe things to make our subject seem overdramatic, petty, and unable to move past the incidents of years ago. Taylor, however, has always been clear about one thing: sometimes, no amount of time can heal you from something that deeply traumatized you.
I Look in People’s Windows
This song to me feels like a sister song to The Black Dog, but a few months after the official end of a relationship. A sub theme that runs through Taylor’s songs about the Joe breakup is the loss of being understood – when you are no longer with a long-term partner, how do you cope with the fact that you move the world knowing everything about this person, but at the same time, not knowing them anymore? Would you peek into their windows just to get a glimpse of what their life looks like now? As anyone who has gone through a breakup knows, the hardest part is often not being privy to the mundane details of that person’s world – their dinner parties, their wine, their friends, and so on.
I look in people's windows
Transfixed by rose golden glows
They have their friends over to drink nice wine
I look in people's windows
In case you're at their table
What if your eyes looked up and met mine
One more time
The Prophecy
The prophecy is devastating. More so than any other song Taylor has ever written, it is full of desperation and longing. All she asks for is to be known, to be understood – to not be perceived as an idea of a woman, or a starlet with no humanity:
Please
I've been on my knees
Change the prophecy
Don't want money
Just someone who wants my company
Let it once be me
Who do I have to speak to
About if they can redo
The prophecy?
It’s striking especially considering how much she laments that leaving Joe means she’s giving up being known – it’s also striking given the fact that in the epilogue poem, she states that neither Joe or Matty ever truly knew her:
He never even scratched the surface
of me.
None of them did.
What she desires beyond fame, beyond notoriety, beyond money, is to be loved and to be known. The song also alludes to her being in therapy, and to finding some sort of consolation that she will find someone to share her life with:
I'm so afraid I sealed my fate
No sign of soulmates
I'm just a paperweight
In shades of greige
Spending my last coin so someone will tell me
It'll be ok
Cassandra
This track is a sister song to thanK you aIMee, and continues exploring the theme of fraught public womanhood we see in Clara Bow and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me. In this song, Taylor discusses how the validation of women is never publicized in the way that the crucifixion of them is:
When the first stone's thrown, there's screaming
In the streets, there's a raging riot
When it's "Burn the bitch, " they're shrieking
When the truth comes out, it's quiet
Moreover, when women speak up about an issue, they’re often viewed as overdramatic, and unserious. Cassandra, in Greek mythology, was cursed by Apollo to always predict the future accurately, but never be believed. We see this happen every day to women in politics, in the media, and in pop culture:
So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst
And tried to tell the town
So, they set my life in flames, I regret to say
Do you believe me now?
And for Taylor, it’s reminiscent of all the times she’s been the first to speak out about something in the industry – for example, against Scooter Braun and his well-established pattern of bullying, or of the exploitation of artists on streaming services – but never been supported broadly by her peers. They believe her later, but at that point, very few people give her the credit for speaking up in the first place. It’s reminiscent of the Kimye scandal. When the news broke originally, the hatred she received was widespread. But when she was acquitted by the long-form video that leaked, it didn’t receive anywhere near the level of coverage that the original scandal received.
Peter
Peter is another song that touches on both the male muses for this album, and in turn, on the promises various men have given her over her life (we’ll circle back to this in The Manuscript!). It also touches on the theme of waiting that’s seen throughout this album, especially on her songs about Joe – how much time is enough time to give?
Both Matty and Joe were 25 when they met her, and it’s abundantly clear that both men made promises to her: promises of marriage, of children, and of a future. But how long can she wait for these promises to be fulfilled? To Joe, she gives six years of her life and youth, and to Matty, she gives him a chance to prove that he was reformed from the time she knew him last: both men eventually fail. Neither man is ready to give up their childish whims, and she has no choice but to lose hope that either of them ever will.
And you said you'd come and get me but you were 25
And the shelf life of those fantasies has expired
Lost to the lost boys chapter of your life
Forgive me Peter, please know that I tried
To hold onto the days when you were mine
But the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light
Another thing to note is the interesting double meaning of the song title. To peter also means to diminish gradually – much like her faith in both men’s promises.
The Bolter
A lot of the songs Taylor has written about Joe in this album deal with the question of “when is the right time to leave?” When you know that things are stagnant, and you know that you’ve given everything you have to a relationship, you know that you have to leave – but it’s easy to convince yourself if you have a history of “leaving before you get left” that you should ride out this wave, and that this pain might just be temporary.
The Bolter, to me, reflects on Taylor’s history – it seems like she prided herself on being able to see the warning signs, and being able to get out in time.
She's been many places with
Men of many faces
First, they're off to the races
And she's laughing drawin' aces
But, none of it is changin'
That the chariot is waitin'
Hearts are hers for the breakin'
There's an escape in escaping
It’s relevant to TTPD, because likely, she saw not bolting as a sign of growth and maturity. You know that you’ve grown as a person when you don’t abandon ship at the first sign of trouble, but what if there are so many signs of trouble that the truly mature thing to do would be to leave?
Robin
Robin leads into this theme of childhood and innocence that we see further in The Manuscript. The track name is also the name of Aaron Dessner’s child. She ponders how beautiful and sweet it is that we work so hard to protect childhood naivete:
Strings tied to levers,
slowed down clocks tethered,
all this showmanship
To keep it, for you,
In sweetness
And there’s an element of wistfulness to it – don’t we sometimes wish that we could also be protected from the worst the world has to offer?
You have no room in your dreams for regrets
You have no idea
The time will arrive for the cruel and the mean
You'll learn to bounce back just like your trampoline
But now we'll curtail your curiosity
The Manuscript
This song is perhaps the most climactic song on the album. It covers her romantic history up until that point, and starts at the moment she feels everything went awry – and it predates Joe and Matty. Instead, it calls back to the first time she experienced a proper heartbreak, and the first time she lost her childlike innocence in the world – her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal (a time she described as her transition from childhood to womanhood). She describes how they compared licenses, and how he told her that if they had sex, and it was as good as the conversation was, then they would get married, and have a family. He was the first man to make her these promises:
He said that if the sex was half as good as the conversation was
Soon they'd be pushin' strollers
But soon it was over
He tells her that it’s ok that they have an age gap, because she’s so advanced for her age:
She thought about how he said since she was so wise beyond her years
Everything had been above board
She wasn't sure
While dating him, she desperately wants to be older, and starts emulating his behavior:
In the age of him, she wished she was thirty
And made coffee every morning in a French press
And when it’s over, she regresses, and turns back into a child – unable to sleep alone without the comfort of her mother, and unable to eat anything substantial besides the sugary cereal of her youth:
Afterwards she only ate kids' cereal
And couldn't sleep unless it was in her mother's bed
She forces herself to date boys her own age, to not rely on the maturity of an older man to guide her through adulthood, but she can’t help but feel disappointed in their youth:
Then she dated boys who were her own age
With dart boards on the backs of their doors
Finally, as she creates the All Too Well short film, she recognizes the damage he did to her, and how the consequences of that affair have shaped her life since:
And the years passed
Like scenes of a show
The Professor said to write what you know
Lookin' backwards
Might be the only way to move forward
Then the actors
Were hitting their marks
And the slow dance
Was alight with the sparks
And the tears fell
In synchronicity with the score
And at last
She knew what the agony had been for
Everything calls back to this first man, and these original promises – everything she’s been chasing since is reminiscent of this first scar. And just like how releasing All Too Well transformed and healed her, she hopes that by releasing this additional manuscript into the world, it will heal her again. As she describes in the epilogue poem, she is entering all her thoughts, emotions, and pain into evidence – she now asks the audience to process it with her, and thus conclude this process of healing.
The only thing that's left is the manuscript
One last souvenir from my trip to your shores
Now and then I reread the manuscript
But the story isn't mine anymore
If you read all of this - thank you! I enjoyed writing it, and I'm excited to discuss with you all in the replies :)

I think “my simple pleasure” is the best prompt. If used right it’s a good way to say things you like. For example mine was- thrift stores, new tattoos, Philly sports and R&B. Really depends how you write it
As a woman, I’d advise men not to use “I won’t shut up about,” as a prompt.
Woman constantly complain about men dominating verbal conversations. Saying you “won’t shut up about…” just reinforces that you might be one of those guys.
I think if you actually have a good travel story, that prompt can work. That is to say, I think that the "tiers" really fluctuate a lot from person to person, and your qualifiers ("this works if you're funny") are kind of proof of that.
For example, I have two pretty good stories about coming face to face with sharks, and one less good story about coming face to face with a shark. I think that the shark thing is just crazy enough that it intrigues most people. But you have to have a genuinely good story for it to work.
Also, someone else said they need to get rid of prompts - I disagree. It's really annoying if you try a new prompt and then can't go back to your old one.
I think “my idea of a good Sunday” is a great prompt bc if guys include it and they say “church,” I’m 95% more likely to like them.
THERE'S AN ART to curating your Hinge profile. If you're looking for quality matches, don't be the guy with a barren profile who sends a mildly-enthused "hey, how's it going" to every potential partner. Hinge offers a feature called prompts: conversation starters that let you show yourself off and spark more substantive conversations—and you should use them to your advantage.
Choosing the right Hinge prompts—and writing good answers those prompts—will help you scan the many fish in the sea to find those most suited for you. It might sound like a daunting task to craft the perfect profile, but at least you're an expert in the subject matter: you.
Best Practices for Crafting Your Hinge Prompts
Having an air of mystery may seem hot in movies, but it's just a waste of time in real life—especially when it comes to dating apps, where determining what's real and what's not is so much more difficult than it is in person. "Being coy may seem like a safer way to interact on apps, but it doesn't yield fruitful results," Engle says. (No one's swiping right on a bio that says "I suck at writing bios.")
So nix those coy answers and get specific when you fill out your Hinge prompts. The more specific you get, the likelier you are to match with people that are similar to you. That means you'll really have to think about yourself and want you want.
Be specific when discussing what you're looking for, too. Vagueness won't help narrow your options. For example, don't just say you're looking for "someone with a lot of personality" (is anyone not looking for someone with a personality?); say you're looking for "someone with a lot of energy, and who enjoys being active and trying new things" (or whatever that personality looks like to you). Be honest, both with yourself and in your profile. Don't say you're "super into the gym" because you want someone with a six-pack, when in reality you haven't been to gym in six months and have no intention of starting again.
Add a variety of prompts to paint a full picture of yourself. If all of your prompts are jokes, that doesn't reveal a ton about you. But, if all your prompts are serious, you might come off as a little intense—and you won't be revealing much about your day-to-day life.
The 20 Best Hinge Prompts to Help You Get You a Response
Here are 20 Hinge prompts to get you off the apps and into real relationships.
I'll pick the topic if you start the conversation...
Starting a conversation isn't easy, and with this prompt, you're meeting them halfway. It creates less of a barrier to entry for the person doing the messaging. Pick a topic you're interested in or care about, and "be as specific as possible," Engle says.
What you can say:
The best bands to come out of the 90's.
The worst holiday traditions.
The best and worst concerts you've seen.
The last time I cried happy tears was...
"Consider the things that really make you YOU," Engle says. Mentioning things you care about "will allow you to engage with like-minded people who share similar likes and interests."
What you can say:
When they showed Jason Kelce ripping his shirt off at Travis's touchdown against the Bills.
At the closing scene of All of Us Strangers.
When I PR'ed my back squat (the boys didn't see).
The one thing I'd love to know about you is...
It's always nice to see someone on a dating app be interested in you, even if they haven't seen you yet. Put that energy out there with this prompt. People might feel more comfortable responding when it's something about them, since they know themselves the best. Find a topic that's important to you, and let your potential match take it from there.
What you can say:
What would you do for a living if money weren't a factor?
What's your go-to coffee shop order?
Were you a Nickelodeon or Disney kid?
Let's make sure we're on the same page about...
The great thing about this prompt is you can make your answer as lighthearted or as serious as you want. If you have something that's a deal-breaker for you (like wanting an open relationship), you can insert that here. It also works if you have something a little less serious that still plays a role in your life (like putting pineapple on pizza) and you want to get that out there.
What you can say:
Not wanting kids.
The ending of Game of Thrones.
The shape of Earth.
This year, I really want to...
This prompt is an excellent way to open up potential first date options, or show how you want to work on yourself in this upcoming year. Want to get more creative, more fit, or try something new? Maybe someone out there wants to do the same—and wants a partner to do it with.
What you can say:
Try a ceramics class.
Drink less.
Find the best burger in town.
I'm looking for...
If you already know what you're looking for, you may as well lay it all out there. That being said, don't nit-pick or be judgmental in your answer. Don't be too vague either, or you won't narrow down your options for people best suited to you.
What you can say:
Someone who will get along with my family.
Someone comfortable with being in an open relationship.
A good time, not a long time.
My simple pleasures...
You're probably looking for someone with similar interests as you (at least, we hope you are). "Prompts serve as conversation starters, so consider your interests, hobbies, and skills and lead with those," Engle says. Odds are someone shares them with you.
What you can say:
The smell of fresh cut grass.
When Debbie from marketing brings in banana bread.
Open sunroofs.
I go crazy for...
Another easy way into talking about the things you like—but make sure it's something you can carry conversation on. "Focus on answers that you can go into detail on," Engle says. "Talk about interests, hobbies, and goals outside of romantic relationships to give potential partners a full picture of the person you are."
What you can say:
Planning my next trip before the one I'm on has even ended.
Barry Keoghan. Obviously.
Reruns of Pimp My Ride.

You should leave a comment if...

This is another way to discuss what's important to you, with a call to action for the other person. You can pull in your hobbies, hopes for the future, or interests—the world is your oyster here. But remember: specifics, specifics, specifics (don't just put down "you like sports").

What you can say:

A shower thought I recently had...

Balance your prompts by throwing in a lighter option here and there. A shower thought is a great way to show off your humor and how your mind works. Get creative.

What you can say:

Green flags I look for...

Get a little deeper into what you're looking for in your person by hinting at characteristics you want to see in someone. It's better to be open and honest about what you're looking for in a potential partner then have to do the dirty work of talking to a bunch of people only to find out you don't actually see a future with them.

What you can say:

We're the same type of weird if...

Have some nuance interests that you want to get out there? Here's your chance.

What you can say:

I hype myself up by...
Everyone gets nervous when it comes to online dating. Confidence is hot, but most of us aren't 100-percent confident all of the time, and that's okay. This shows you're nervous, too, but can hype yourself up when need be.

What you can say:

I feel most supported when...

Dating app prompts aren't all about making the right joke or being overly funny. You'll want to layer in some real prompts, too, to show potential partners you can get deep. This prompt is a great way to do that without getting too vulnerable before you're ready. Plus, it reveals a little bit about what you want out of a relationship.

What you can say:

A fun fact about me is...

An oldie but a goodie. To mix in a lighthearted prompt with some deeper ones, stick with what you know and toss in your go-to fun fact from freshman seminar in college. Don't over think the "fun" part—just pick something you think is unique about yourself!

What you can say:

Teach me something about...

Want to learn something new and find a partner at the same time? This is also a great way to show an interest in potential partners by making your answer something related to them. Like we said, people are always more comfortable talking about themselves because it's the one thing they know everything about. People love talking about their passions... maybe someone out there has the same one as you. This is a great way to find out.

What you can say:

I know the best spot in town for...

Hate the phase of online dating where you message back and forth forever and never actually get to a first date? Us, too. This prompt can help speed up that process by getting you out of the app, and meeting in person. Suggest something you'd want to do for a first date.

First round is on me if...

Another prompt that gets you out of the app and right into the first date. Plus, you can pose a characteristic you really want to see in a partner: a win-win. PSA though: If it translates, you do actually have to pay for the first round.

What you can say:

My typical Sunday...

This gives a little snippet into your every day life. You're probably looking for someone who lives a similar lifestyle to you (if you're a "sleep until the afternoon every weekend" kind of guy, you're probably not looking for a "6 a.m. half marathon on a Saturday" kind of girl), and this is a great way to give them that insight.

What you can say:

Give me travel tips for...

Have a trip coming up? Hit two birds with one stone: get some travel recommendations and start up a conversation with a potential special someone. It's an easy entry to talking, and you can quickly branch to "well, where else have you traveled to recently?" Even if you just put down your neighborhood—there's nothing like a little stay-cation.You should leave a comment if...

2024.06.02 06:22 blurryturtle 2024 Roland Garros Men's & Women's 4th Round - Sunday Matches

Swiatek vs Potapova :

Swiatek had to have been happy with her third round matchup after waking up from the nightmare that Naomi Osaka presented. She made quick work of Bouzkova, who was outmatched in every department. Bouzkova did manage to battle back in the first and make the set close, and she served surprisingly well, but she just doesn’t hit hard enough to beat Swiatek. It was one of those matches where Swiatek looks a bit impatient because she’s supplying all the offense, and it seems like when it takes 3-4 shots to get an opportunity to hit a winner, she tries to just infuse extra pace or spin instead and unforced errors appear. Trying to make the ball explode doesn’t really work, and extra force applied tends to fall short when compared to smooth technique. I watched Rune and Zverev have similar trouble today against their opponents. Players wind up pushing because they hit bigger than their opponent, but don’t want to make errors. It’s accuracy that’s missing, and it’s something for Swiatek to work on in the off-season. I would say that accuracy is the main problem with her serve as well. It has plenty of pace and spin, but the ball lands towards the center of the box way too often. Less pace, and more location will go a long way.
If it feels like I’m levying criticism today, yes. Your turn, Potapova and Wang. Potapova was down 5-0 in the first set, and won 7 games in a row. Wang has a tendency to just go big on her forehand, and she doesn’t stop when she misses. Potapova was an uphill battle, but Wang doesn’t actually need to hit clean winners to score. Her forehand is one of the biggest in the game, and once she locks into a cross-court rally she usually can win provided the ball lands inside the court. Landing the ball inside the court proved difficult, and it felt a bit like watching Struff. All the ability in the world but a sense of urgency that doesn’t really match the moment. Yes you want to stay aggressive, but the weight of shot buys you time in the rally, you don’t need to escape a rally you’re in control of.
Potapova wound up losing the second, and down a break in the third. She dug in admirably, but there were some really poor decisions late in the match. After getting to triple break point by rallying with Wang and keeping the ball deep until Wang missed, she got a simple backhand return off a serve. She went for a clean winner down the line for some reason, and then suddenly the next point mattered. She lost it, and suddenly the “oh F I had it and now it’s gone” fears rose. The game ended up at duece, and she went to tactic B : screaming on every shot. You can’t scream your opponent off the court, so this didn’t really work. In the end, Wang coughed up errors and Potapova won, but it was a match that was managed poorly by both. Potapova was very reactive to misses and makes, which is fine but wastes a bunch of energy and tends to affect your decisionmaking in a readable way. You want to maintain some mystery, and at a minimum not give your opponent any inspiration or hope to work off of while you’re out there.
Swiatek Potapova should be another safe match for Swiatek, but Potapova has good power off both wings and she hits her backhand down the line decent. Swiatek will need more than she brought against Bouzkova, and chances are this won’t be a blowout. Potapova won their last meeting 6-0 in the third on clay, but it was in 2016 at the juniors. Swiatek in 2.

Danilovic vs Vondrousova :

Olga Danilovic has made the 4th round of a major. This changes her career in a major way. Tons of points, at least $250k, and a chance to win more. It’s even sweeter I would imagine because she probably shouldn’t be there. Her match against Donna Vekic was filled with many fumbles. Both players have enough power to hit past the other. Vekic was able to hit inside out forehands to great effect. Danilovic’s pendulum swing on her backhand was able to force errors from Vekic quite often. Her forehand down the line was almost a clean winner anytime she made it. In between all that though, they missed constantly.
The first set was a 6-0 beatdown from Vekic. She played excellent, and likely should have won the second. In the third, she went up a quick break. She gave that back, but broke to serve for the match. Immediately, she threw in a handful of forced dropshots and errors. Luckily, she broke again to serve for the match at 6-5. This gave her the opportunity to come up with a few more bailout dropshots and errors. If you watch highlights, this was an incredible match. If you watched the match, you saw two players whose games were affected by the situation. Vekic forced the issue and missed anytime she got control of the scoreboard, and Danilovic went through bouts of not missing at all followed by sending every ball wide. The tiebreaker was vaguely like watching a junior match. Every miss brought a huge reaction from the player. There were constant gestures and faces made to their boxes, and it was a little difficult to watch two great players struggle to focus and execute. Vekic managed to go up again 6-2 in the tiebreaker, but froze at that point and began hitting most of her shots long. She had trouble serving first serves in for the second half of the entire third set, but she really was unable to respond defensively once Danilovic got a full swing in.
After watching Danilovic down Collins and sort of defeat Vekic, it’s hard to count her out against Vondrousova. Marketa is a clear favorite against most players on clay, but the scorelines of her matches can be hard to predict. Against Paquet she was up a set and cruising up a double break in the second, and wound up back on serve. She closed out, but Vondrousova doesn’t hit that big and mostly thrives by defending and earning errors, so Danilovic will be able to compete. They played in the BJK cup and Vondrousova won in 3, and I’m guessing slower clay will give Vondrousova more of an edge. Vekic’s lack of speed really hurt her, and I think Vondrousova being able to put extra ball consistently in play will make Danilovic’s rough patches more of an issue. The emotional and physical output of Danilovic over the last few rounds has to take a toll, and I think she’ll fall a game or two short here. Vondrousova in 3.

Gauff vs Cocciaretto :

This is an excellent draw for Gauff so far. She’s playing great players, but stylistically they’re not a lot of trouble for her. This round is another good spot. Elisabetta Cocciaretto is a good server and has nice power, but she’s not the fastest around the court and she can make some unforced errors if she’s rushed. This means Gauff’s defense and power give her a great shot to win without trouble. Cocciaretto beating Samsonova was a surprise to me, but Samsonova doesn’t have the speed that Gauff does nor the consistency. This is a criminally short analysis but Gauff in 2.

Tauson vs Jabeur :

Great champions are able to elevate their games. This round, Ons will need to elevate hers. Clara Tauson is playing some great tennis, and coming into this match hers is the higher level. Jabeur was projected to have trouble against Fernandez and she did. It was another match where I felt like a good coach could have gotten their player across the finish line. Fernandez didn’t have a great chance in the first, but Jabeur was very willing to give the second away. Fernandez was able to dig in on defense and rally with Jabeur until she made errors or gave Leylah opportunities. Rather than keep rallying and really punish Jabeur, Fernandez went for winners … and missed them all. I’m not exaggerating here, in the second set she missed almost every offensive shot she went for, and it didn’t feel like she had to go for them. Jabeur hits bigger than Fernandez, so on the court it may have felt like she needed to do a lot, but most of her points come from consistency, so Leylah’s team will want to focus on having her focus on the mental battle going on in her opponent’s head rather than trying to be a big hitter. Physically, it’s just not in the cards for her to be slinging offense. Maybe she landed those same shots in an earlier round, so going for them was fine, but awareness on court is important, and Jabeur was trying to give the set away. After winning, Jabeur celebrated a bit which left me puzzled. It’s natural to be happy when you win, but I feel a little odd about these matches sometimes. Fernandez didn’t land a first serve for the last 20 minutes, threw in a ton of errors, and tried to hit an overhand winner for some reason off a return at 5-5 in the tiebreaker. It was a nice win, but Jabeur made this match hard on herself. I might be in hater mode today and I apologize, but it feels like sometimes players tap their head or pump their fist after overcoming challenges that they themselves created.
Positives for Jabeur were the times she put one extra ball back. She has had a middling season, and seeing her dig in is great. Her racquet skill is some of the best on tour as well, so the gets aren’t just a boost, they’re downright effective. She has the ability to stretch to her forehand and put squash gets back extremely low, and to flick cross-court forehands that seem impossible from how extended her arm is. Jabeur’s depth of talent is why she is still slightly favored in this match, because again, Clara Tauson is coming in at a high level. Tauson beat Ostapenko, and followed it up by putting Kenin through the ringer. Kenin had no chance in the first, but in the second she was able to reel back a break of serve and apply some decent pressure. Frustratingly, she just wasn’t able to execute in the big moments. At 15-30 5-5, Tauson hit a lob that was going a few feet out (to the side). While running backwards, Kenin seemed unaware of where she was in the court. She tried to play it overhead and missed. It was a momentum killer, and she ended up missing the remainder of her offensive opportunities.
Throughout the match, the big difference in the two was Tauson’s ability to score quickly. When she lands first serves, or if you give her a moment to get a full swing anywhere inside the baseline, you are toast. She has the type of power that Anisimova/Collins generate on their backhand, and she has a heavy forehand. That is why I suspect Jabeur will have a tough time winning this quickly. Jabeur has the endurance and variety to frustrate Tauson, but this feels like a battle of two big offenses, and Jabeur’s is a bit less consistent at this point. I want to believe Jabeur wins in 3, but she will need to step up her game and avoid the type of letdown she had in the second against Fernandez. Tauson is several tiers above Leylah and Osorio in terms of offensive opportunities, and both those players were able to get in winning position in at least one set. I’m still going to go with Jabeur in 3. Tauson has beaten some offenses, and some defenses, but Ons is the most complete player she’s faced so it feels very much like “prove it” territory for me.

Arnaldi vs Tsitsipas :

The story in Arnaldi’s match seems to be Rublev’s temper, but don’t let that overshadow Arnaldi’s performance. For me, Rublev’s temper is partially his fault, and partially his team’s. I’m especially sensitive to this after watching the last round, but being reactive to the outcome of points is a bit of a leak. If you are easily moved by events, then you are always able to be moved. It compounds, because if you are really good at something, there is no reason to believe that minor failures will continue, or even matter. It gives your opponent motivation, it wastes your valuable reserves of adrenaline and dopamine (depending on good/bad outcomes), and it’s honestly fairly distracting for an opponent. Just generally speaking, if my opponent is smashing his head with a racquet, I don’t really want to beat him. I’m still going to, but I want to compete and win, I don’t really want to add suffering to someone else. It’s unprofessional, it’s a detriment to his game, and it puts his opponents and umpires in an uncomfortable spot. Of course, he knows this, but it should hit home in this moment that he lost this match because of his lack of composure, and lost it to a player who thrives because of his composure.
Matteo Arnaldi plays steady consistent tennis. He works hard, he constantly works on his game, and he isn’t reactive out there aside from hyping himself up. He beat Fils because of deviations in his level of play and because he made it clear he wouldn’t miss. Fils forced shots and missed because he was unwilling to do the work. He beat Rublev because despite Rublev opening the match hitting clean and crushing winners, he just stayed the course and kept competing. When Christmas disappeared, Rublev noticed, and he did not like it. The crux of the issue is, he did not accept it. If I am upset about the way things are, that is natural. If I grit against the way they are, I suffer. If I accept the way things are, I am (counterintuitively) instantly free to begin working on changing them. It doesn’t mean we celebrate errors or loss, but resetting to the present moment is a major key to winning in professional sports and tennis players in particular have a difficulty with this.
I’m not trying to dump on all these players or attack them here either. All of them are tremendous athletes and are mostly excellent ambassadors and competitors. All of these struggles are natural and we all experiences the highs and lows of competition, but Rublev wants to win and this is something he needs to work on to do that consistently. If his coaches aren’t working on this with him, they’re doing him a disservice. If they are and he isn’t buying into it, he’s doing them a disservice. Everything is fine with Rublev’s game but the holes are clear. He needs more reps at net, he needs to develop dropshots, and he needs to not smash racquets.
For now, it’s Arnaldi vs Tsitsipas. Stefanos has been excellent this event, and he opens as the favorite for a reason. Zhang played solid in round 3, but he was helpless against Tsitsipas. Stef is holding serving quickly, and the speed with which he’s finding a forehand to the open court off of players’ returns is the catalyst of this. His stamina is a major weapon in these conditions and in this format, and his serve/forehand is one of the best left in the event. If Arnaldi wants to win, the plot is simple. Isolate Tsitsipas’ backhand, and get deep in sets. In the late stages of a close set, Tsitsipas is still prone to some shanks. I really do think Arnaldi needs to win the first set to have a shot here, but had Rublev been playing Tsitsipas I think we’d be expecting a somewhat close match so there’s no real argument for Arnaldi to get blown out here. He has a complete game, and he has good discipline. He’s lanky so he might be able to return well, and he can send his backhand down the line so Tsitsipas can’t just camp in his backhand corner. Forehand to forehand though, I think Tsitsipas wins. Losses to Ruud, Jarry, Medvedev make me think that Arnaldi has a bit of a ceiling, but all those were close affairs so Tsitsipas should have his hands full here. Tsitsipas in 4-5.

Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassume :

Shelton and FAA was fairly hyped, but only Felix delivered. Shelton wasn’t really that bad, but FAA just showed he’s more comfortable on the surface. He faced no break points, and won comfortably in straight sets. His next match will be a lot more difficult, as he plays a version of Carlos Alcaraz that is cruising through the draw without really playing his best tennis. Alcaraz vs Korda was a strange contest. It reminded me a bit of Zverev or Rune playing matches they know they’re going to win. They don’t want to play extra sets, so they play a bit more carefully and just make sure to outlast their opponent. What ends up happening is the score stays close, and the stronger players needs to win a tense tiebreaker or break late in the set. Sure, they still win, but I think that an all-out assault from an earlier moment would allow them to fatigue their opponent.
These guys are all in tremendous shape (even Kotov), but there are levels/paces that they can’t hang at for long. Someone like Alcaraz can push the pace and wear Korda down, and once he breaks from that level, the odds of him winning the next sets easily are more likely. We watched Nadal and Djokovic do this to opponents for a long time, and the late sets were almost always blowouts after frantic openers. We watched Federer do the same thing mentally to opponents with a constant onslaught of offensive shots and tricky slices. If you don’t push the pace to a level your lower-tier opponent can’t hang at, they end up playing at a pace they’re comfortable with and then you play the same level of Korda in set 1 as you do in set 3.
Hater mode continues, but in this case I think it’s all assuming that Alcaraz is totally healthy. If he’s saving his arm for later, he played Korda perfectly. Sebastian continues to battle even with the best players on tour, and in the big moments he doesn’t change his game. 4-4 in a tiebreaker isn’t the time to force anything, but if you’re the underdog and have nothing to lose, it might be a good choice to ratchet up the pace a little, or take some chances. Instead, he seems to throw in rally ball errors. The two forehand misses he had in the tiebreaker were rough, but worse was that they weren’t even shots that were going to score. He was just guiding the ball in straight over the net. I guess in the end, beating Alcaraz, or even playing him even for a time, is a huge ask. It was a great match.
FAA will have his best chance to beat Alcaraz here. Alcaraz’s arm is potentially not 100%, and Korda probably should have won a set. I think the pace alone that Felix brings will wake Carlitos up a bit, and he has beaten FAA the last few times they’ve played so he’ll know which shots to employ and when. Even with his arm a question mark, Alcaraz’s speed around the court and ability to extend rallies are the right assets to score on FAA. Auger-Aliassime’s main issue on tour is that he can overhit forehands and cough up unforced errors. It should be noted also that FAA Shelton was played under a closed roof, which helps Felix’s serve a bit. The weather in Paris looks pretty nice for the rest of the tournament, so it’ll be warm and ideal for Alcaraz to wear him down and isolate his backhand when he can. FAA is good enough to compete at this level, but hasn’t been doing it regularly enough for me to think he can do so here for 3 whole sets. Alcaraz in 4.

Hurkacz vs Dimitrov :

Dimitrov leads this h2h 5-0. All the matches have been close, but you don’t get to 5-0 against Hurkacz unless you can reliably return serve. If you can reliably return serve, you can beat Hurkacz, and on clay it should be even more beneficial. Hurkacz has played excellent in this clay swing considering his status as a servebot, and leading into Wimbledon and the North American swing I think his baseline improves have him primed for some titles. He had a hard test with Shapovalov in round 3, and the new and sort of decent Shapovalov put up a good fight. Dimitrov had an easier time with Zizou Bergs, despite dropping a set. Bergs broke Dimitrov a bunch in this match, but Dimitrov’s slice gave him a lot of trouble. Grigor was content to just keep hitting the court, and it was enough in the end. Bergs had trouble lifting his forehand inside in off of the slice, and it meant going mostly inside out which Dimitrov was only too comfortable with. The quick turnaround is a concern here, but I don’t think the Bergs match was as labor intensive as it could have been. There were numerous rain delays, and the scores were close but only because Dimitrov didn’t redline. He served with control, he hit to big targets, and he secured the bag.
I don’t think Hurkacz gets beaten quickly here, and I don’t think Dimitrov is automatic just because of the h2h. He should win, but Dimitrov lost to Rune/Mensik/Fritz recently and those are all players right around Hurkacz level. If this goes to a 5th, I’d be pretty worried for Dimitrov’s chances. Picking Dimitrov in 4 feels tough, because Bergs got to a 4th and he wasn’t really playing his best today. The h2h is hard to ignore, so I’ll go with Dimitrov in 5. The quick turnaround might leave him tired but he should be able to outduel Hurkacz in most volleys and the low slices will be tough for the big dude to get down on.

Sinner vs Moutet :

Nothing like a seemingly simple one to end a full day of criticizing professional athletes for not being perfect <3. Moutet has been the most entertaining player in this event. He has won and lost lopsided sets, he has gone for every shot possible, he is chatting with the crowd, and he is giving the home country something to believe in. Considering he couldn’t even hit a two-handed backhand for a good chunk of the past year due to wrist surgery, it’s pretty impressive for him to get his game back to a really high level. Ofner was beating him early in the third round, but he was also sweating profusely. The workload of defending against Moutet’s big forehand strokes and his clever dropshots is exhausting, and Ofner’s game dipped as the match went on. It’ll be fun to see Sinner trading with Moutet, and it’ll be another look at his physical ability to see how quickly he moves to the frontcourt and how he defends Moutet’s forehand inside out. Generally with a hip injury, it’s sprinting forward and leaning wide to that side that becomes an issue.
Sinner has sort of entered a big however many group in terms of his results. He is able to beat the lower tier players for the entire match, and is consistently able to do so. There are no holes in his game, and aside from his hip issue there is no reason to think he loses here. Moutet has the game to make this the match of the day, but it feels like he’s spent a lot more time and energy on court and that’ll cost him. Sinner in 3.

2024.06.02 06:08 WidmanstattenPattern Audio and video stuttering on a new high-end gaming PC in routine applications

Using the template offered up by the group here, but if any additional information would help with diagnosis, I'm happy to throw it in.
Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core
Motherboard: MSI PRO B650M-A WiFi Micro ATX AM5
BIOS Version: 7D77v1J (the latest, updated a few days ago)
RAM: 32GB G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL36
PSU: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80 + Gold Certified Fully Modular Power Supply
Case: Deepcool CH370 MicroATX Mid Tower
Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 Home
GPU Drivers: GEFORCE GAME READY DRIVER - Version: 555.85
Chipset Drivers: AMD B550 CHIPSET DRIVERS VERSION 2.10.13.408
Background Applications: DISCORD
Description of Original Problem: System is fairly new and high-end. It experiences weird audio static and video stuttering in applications that ought not to be particularly demanding - I get it in YouTube videos, or even playing older games with minimal system requirements like Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, or Slay the Spire. Indeed, right now I'm writing this in Firefox with VLC playing some music in the background, and the music occasionally stutters.
Troubleshooting: I've tried a lot. All of the drivers (motherboard, video, audio) have been updated. So has the BIOS. Set Windows to maximum performance power mode. CPU and GPU temperatures look great, and percent utilizations all look low. I've run some benchmarking software (Passmark Performance Test) and the computer comes out looking fantastic on all axes. I read that there might be some issues with multiple audio outputs, so I disabled the devices for the audio outputs to my two monitors. Everything has its own power input from the modular power supply; nothing is daisy-chained.
The labor-intensive thing to do would be to try swapping out hardware components one by one with known working parts, but I don't actually have another modern desktop to cannibalize. And that would take forever.

2024.06.02 06:04 chesa80 YS 8 intro video audio

Good evening. I noticed the audio for the opening video in YS 8 doesn't match up with the video. The music ends way before the video does. I tried the same fix I used for trails in the sky fc but that didn't work either. Any tips?

2024.06.02 05:45 postpostpostpost4 things im thinking after 119

i just have to gush abt this. i feel like i can clearly see where things are going after 119 and it just makes me really appreciate how clearly intentional everything in this manga is. like the way miwa is feeling right now around sex is v similar to the way saeko felt abt bottoming in particular when they first got together. and then theres also the hanging thread of saeko's experiences in school before she met miwa, which unless im completely forgetting something, she never told miwa abt, and which tension over was like a major contributing factor to them breaking up in the first place, i feel like thats probably going to come up soon, (it was briefly mentioned at the end of 76, not-so-coincidentally right after she lets yuria top her.) also the fact that they tended to have sex instead of talking things out. in 117-119 its pretty clear that theyre poised to get back together imo, like its rly not just the physical intimacy its the things they say perfectly fitting into the things that each recently realized they needed from relationships (miwa prioritizing saeko over her work prospects, saeko expressing an unfulfilled desire for pure physical contact). and then when theyre in the hotel room its like...okay are they just gonna fuck again? or are they gonna talk about everything. and it seems from 119 that theyre going to talk abt everything and im rly happy abt that
i expect saeko 2 share abt her first gf at some point. i wonder if miwa will bring out the tried-and-true "i wish you had told me that while we were still together :////" i doubt she would tho it would be kind of hilarious though. it all also makes me feel like it's just amazing how after breaking up miwa and saeko kind of incorporated each other. i feel like th parallel is most directly established w the simultaneous saeko becomes ok with bottoming/miwa tries to top tamaki. and then i think the way miwa grows her hair out while saeko eventually cuts hers is another, they have a convo about hair length early on that ties into it. in their characters its like saeko healed from her trauma into a version of miwa from the start of the series, and miwa in turn went through some of that same trauma and acquired some of the same responses to it as saeko (who, for instance, also cried after miwa tried to touch her at that hotel that one time). theirs is such true love tbqh. looking forward to saeko's punk rock arc (12 more volumes) (and also oh my god i just love that saeko's blase attitude towards music is being shown to be more than just like. a quirk of her personality. thats rly what i love and what makes things feel so real is that characters dont have quirks like that. their traits arent floating. they exist in tension with the other traits that make that character up and they change over time its just so detailed ugh)

2024.06.02 05:24 Odd-Recognition-2606 Anime That are Better (Or Worse) Than Their Light Novels?

Manga one coming straight after this!
Now I don't know many animes translated from Light Novels or Web Novels, but I have read and watched: Re:Zero Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai Konosuba Sword Art Online
In my opinion, this question is a lot deeper than you think. This is because there is no inherent better option, as both anime and light novels convey emotions in different ways, with anime being more condensed and easier to follow and light novels using description and time to build scenes up better. So I'm not going to outright say out of these 4 which is the BETTER one, but I will give pros and cons for the animr and light novel as well as my personal preference based on them.
Re:Zero: This is a tough choice. With Re:Zero, I can't really choose between . I prefer watching anime more than reading, but subjectively, even I have to agree the writing of the light novel is just amazing. Every nitpick of the anime (Season 2 being too drawn out, Episode 13, Subaru's annoyingness at the start) is both explained and remedied in the light novel. The light novel highlights character development even more than the anime, and interactions happen more in the Novel than anime. The arcs are written so witty but professional, so it feels like you're reading the first place winner of a short story contest throughout the whole novel. If you ever just read the PROLOGUE, you'll understand how good the writing is. It's almost like Tappei Nagatsuki's internal Montague is the one reading us the story. BUT, and this is a huge BUT, the anime has the best soundtrack when it comes to correlating scenes. It's very smart to play the ED during good scenes to emphasize the importance of those scenes, and the EDs are so emotional in itself that they triple the emotional impact of whatever scene is happening. The overall soundtrack also has the same effect. This is why it's so hard to choose between light novel and anime.
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai: I think this is a another toss-up depending on which form of media you prefer more, as both the light novel and anime/movies are absolutely incredible. Much like Re:Zero, the light novel is very detailed, going very into depths of scenes in the anime and giving the reader a lot more time to digest the emotional impact of the scene. Mai and Sakuta in the light novel is written more lovey-dovey, while the anime versions of the two of them tone that down a little (like a teeny tiny bit) and focus more on the tsundere aspect of Mai and the cleverness behind every word of Sakuta. The thing the book lacks though is the music that plays an integral role in creating such a large emotional impact when watching the anime. Seisyunbutayaro is the track most people think of when considering an emotional scene, and hearing it definitely makes scenes feel more important to the viewer. Also, the OP and ED, on top of being some of the best ever, play such an emotional role into making each episode feel unique (OP shows Sakuta's perseverance and will to help everyone, and the ED shows the girl with the Adolescence Syndrome for the episode).
Konosuba: Hear me out. The anime is a more enjoyable experience for me than the light novel. Yes, I admit, the writing is excellent, and the light novel is funny as heck, the parodies slap, but there's something about the anime's hilarious exaggeration of everything that just WORKS. It's such a fun watch and isn't afraid to do silly things to get watchers to laugh. It's more or less the same in the light novel, but the comical expressions and lovable cast presented in anime form hit different for me. Music is used to a great extent, and the voice acting is amazing.
Sword Art Online: I think the general consensus is that the light novels are better than the anime, and I... kind of have to agree with this one. Don't get me wrong, I like the SAO anime, I think it's an... interesting watch, but the severe condensing of major plot points, completely unnecessary camera angles, very uncomfortable scenes and removal of important traits from main characters like Kirito really do affect the anime more than it should. The light novel, while also with its flaws in writing, is am overall more enjoyable experience to me. Kirito has more of a personality, the relationship with him and Asuna is much more fleshed out and even BETTER than their anime relationship because it covers more of it, and the Progressive series extends the Aincrad Arc and gives readers more or less what they were expecting from the anime (all floors of Aincrad). Uncomfortable scenes in the Novel don't feel as bad as witnessing the scenes in the anime. The one thing the anime has that is more enjoyable than than reading the light novel is the use of music and the brilliant sounding OP and ED for basically every season.
What animes do you consider better or worse than it's Light Novel?

2024.06.02 05:15 nightryder2020 [M4F] Here we go again

Hello! Hope everyone is well. So an introduction about myself since this is perhaps my 20th search post. I am from the east coast of the USA, preferably would like to have a RP partner set within the same timezone within the US as I am since communicating with people halfway around the world proved to be more difficult.
My schedule is a bit iffy sometimes, but you’ll always catch me in the evenings except Tuesdays & wednesdays. Being an adult forces you to contribute to what society demands of you. Such as work, being a parent, being a spouse, all the while revolving how will you find enjoyment of your own time before you go to sleep and do that routine again. If you’re looking for someone for fast replies, or responds with 10 posts a day, I’m not that RPer for you. I can, however, throw at least two responses, more if I am lucky.
Here are my guidelines:
• Radio silent for five days typically means dead RP. We both move on, I would hope everything works out for you for the better.
• This is becoming a common occurrence over the years when I RP, sadly I’m going to say it. If you have specific traumas or triggers, let me know. However, although I may be lenient on some things, don't use it to have me walk on egg shells.
• For those of you who cannot read good, the ad says M4F, which means I as a male looking for female to write with. Not as a character, or a side character. But as a male RPer who wants to write with another RPer who is female. This is my preference, you cannot convince me whether you read my guidelines or not.
• I only play in third person and ask my partner to do so as well. I can play multiple characters whether male or female, that being said I only play as a male character that’s in the spotlight 75% of the time.
• If you have idea to fill in for plot points, do say so! Don’t be intimidated or think it’s going to ruin the RP because of ideas. Communication is a two way street. The worst I can do is say no, but I am open for options where it’s appropriate.
• To know that you have indeed read through all of this and not skim through my ad, answer my most basic question. However, I will ignore messages AND chats if no one answers it. Is a hotdog a sandwich?
• I write anywhere between 4-10 paragraphs. More to set up the scene if necessary and adding a lot of lore. I follow the principle that if you give me something to work with that has effort, you will get it as well. Matching replies? That’s great, but I don’t want to turn my passion into a chore.
• What I write is typically within the category of NSFW. This includes but not limited to: Gore, blood, body horror, darker themes, steamy scenes, etc, etc.
• All characters are 18+, all RPers 18+, no exceptions.
• You can view my samples message me. I would also like to point out that I am in the hobby of writing roleplays for fun and not anything serious to the point it would make grammar nazi’s blush. However, as writers who RP, punctuation, capitalization and grammar are key. Though I am lenient on some mistakes and will not be that guy.
• OOC discussions are fine. Talk to me about music, art, movies, or tv shows. However there’s a fine line between chatter and sharing personal info, in which case I don’t share mine and kindly ask the same to my partner.
PLOT:
Imagine a world where men are warriors, and women are beautiful. Set between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the unwritten records of ALL civilizations, there was an age undreamed of...
Princess (your character’s name), renowned for her wisdom and beauty, had long been the target of envy and malice. The Red Priest, a powerful and treacherous figure in her father's court, scorned her for rejecting his dark propositions and for her influence over the king. One night, a haunting dream of her father being slain plagued her sleep, and her worst fears materialized when a violent coup, led by the Red Priest, erupted within the palace walls. Fleeing for her life, she was shepherded to safety by an old and loyal retainer. As they traversed the darkened city, they encountered Jorro, a formidable warrior who had just escaped prison, where he had been unjustly held on the Red Priest's false accusations.
Jorro, driven by a burning desire for vengeance against those who wronged him, formed an uneasy alliance with (your character). Though their paths had crossed by fate, their goals aligned: to overthrow the Red Priest and reclaim what was rightfully theirs. Together, they navigated through treacherous landscapes and evaded the Red Priest's minions. (Your character's) royal knowledge and Jorro's unmatched combat skills made them a formidable pair.

2024.06.02 05:01 Toa_of_Memes FBNXT: Book the Women’s World Championship after Reah Ripley’s Injury Part 2

Shayna Baszler lifts her belt high over the broken form of Reah Ripley, who lays over blood spatter,
painting the ring like a Jackson Pollock painting. Shayna, her blood dried in the Cleveland heat into a dull, flaky mask, slides out of the ring as the next matches promos start.

“Y’know, a year ago I thought I’d never actually hold this thing…” Baszler states in the SummerSlam post show presser, Triple H at her side. “... But it feels pretty damn good that it’s actually mine. No disrespect to Reah, of course.” Shayna slides her hands over her hair, catching specks of dried blood, sending them to the floor. “But I think it really speaks to how stale this division got under the previous… administration. Like I’m one of the best damn grapplers in this industry, It’s about damn time I get my due.”
-Monday Night Raw
Reah Ripley sits in Gorilla, fuming. At the top of the hour, Mami enters the arena, not even waiting for her music to cue. Her shoulder still sore and not moving quite right sings out in pain as she slips into the ring, mic in her hand. The former champion says the first thing that comes to her mind.
“Shit.” The crowd oohs and ahs at a swear word, but Reah doesn’t have time to wait. “I mean, really Shayna? I gave you the opportunity to hold this. I GAVE you your opportunity, your ‘due’ as you called it. And when I came back from injury, instead of giving me back what you were BORROWING, you stab me in the back?” Reah’s voice cracks a bit. The WWE universe is eerily quiet, giving Reah the space she needs to get this out.
“YOU WERE MY FRIEND, SHAYNA. But now, now that you’ve gone from fighting nobodies in bingo halls to holding the greatest prize in this company, you’re too good for me?” Reah lashes out, Michael Cole correcting her by stating “Masha Slamovich isn’t a nobody, Reah” on commentary. This is when Shayna’s music hits, and the Queen of Spades enters the ring with her new hardware. The two stare down, clearly teasing their next match.
The next few weeks go by with very little change between the two. Reah and Shayna trade barbs on the mic, one particular instance being after Shayna’s first defense of her belt, being against Natalya at a house show, with Shayna calling Reah a “Dollar Tree Chyna Knockoff”. Reah responds to this by spiking Shayna in the head with a chair. At Bash in Berlin, their blowoff match is set as a Submissions Count Anywhere match by Adam Pearce a couple weeks before the PPV. The week before the PPV, the two are set to sign contracts to make it official and sanctioned.
-Monday Night Raw: Go Home before Bash in Berlin
Shayna and Reah sit across from each other in the ring for their official contract signing. Accompanied by Zoey Stark, Shayna sits cool and almost aloof. Reah, however, untethered from Dominik Mysterio, fumes with her singular goal to regain her crown and her trust in herself.
“Yknow, Reah, it’s funny. You piss and moan about doing all this work but every time we’ve met in the ring recently, you’ve had to use chairs and shit to put me down.” Shayna gets booed here, as Reah lifts the mic to her lips. “Baszler, you think you got where you are with hard work? I've been here for years on the top. Hell, didn’t you get here before me?” The crowd pops as Shayna is visibly flustered. Shayna, instead of letting this get to the best of her, puts pen to paper, as does Reah. The two lock eyes before Raw goes off the air.
-Bash in Berlin
Shayna Baszler(c) vs Reah Ripley (Submissions Count Anywhere)
As Shayna enters the arena, she is immediately blasted in the spine with a chair by Reah, and the bell is rung. Shayna tanks this hit and turns with a quick thrust kick as Reah lifts her chair. Shayna, the former pro fighter she is, grabs Reah by the back of her neck and throws her into the barricade, sending Mami tumbling.
The match goes on, spilling into the ring, where we get our first submission attempt, being an armbar applied by Shayna Baszler. Reah powers out of the Queen of Spades’ grasp and launches a stiff lariat to the now sitting champion, quickly turning that into a rear naked choke. Shayna stands up and drives Reah’s Tailbone into the mat, slipping out of the hold and the ring.
Reah rolls out to follow, but is quickly thwacked directly on the head with a kendo stick, courtesy of the champion. A small trickle of blood drips down Mami’s forehead as she feels away from the champion, who promptly tackles Reah to the ground to attempt at a kneebar, but Reah rolls away, clipping and splitting Shayna’s lip, adding a bit more crimson to the mix.
Reah turns the corner and scrambles under the apron, to produce a chair, but instead tangles herself in the spare camera cords left under the ring in case of a wire malfunction. She does, however, use the heavy metal ends of these cords to whip the champion, eventually working her way to locking in a dirty STF, using the mic cables to try and choke the champion out. The sweat on the challengers palms, however, make her lose her grip on the cables, allowing Shayna to escape and slip away, behind the challenger.
Reah, in her hubris, doesn’t disentangle herself from the spare camera and microphone cords that were strewn about after the scramble for chairs, and as Shayna pulls her prey in like a spider, Reah, for the first time in a long time, yelps out in fear as Shayna locks in The Kirifuda Clutch. Reah fights, but succumbs to the pain and lack of bloodflow.
Shayna lets go, raises her hand in victory, and is immediately interrupted by Women’s Money in the Bank winner, Chelsea Green, who decides to cash in.
Do I even need to say it?
Chelsea Green -Fucking Dies- gets rocked be a Queens Suplex, hereby losing her Money in the Bank cash-in, resulting in two victories in Berlin for the Queen of Spades, Shayna Baszler.
Backstage, however, a new challenger lies in wait. Lurking in the shadows, a disgraced hero, reborn in the ashes of irrelevance.
Nobody a sane champion dares to Cross.

2024.06.02 04:59 EnumeratedWalrus Booking the Women's World Title After Rhea Ripley Part 1

Raw, April 8th, 2024

Liv Morgan pushes Rhea Ripley into a wall backstage. Rhea Ripley suffered a sprained AC joint in her shoulder which means she will need about three months to recover.
Liv Morgan Sucks.

Raw, April 15th, 2024

Adam Pearce addresses the WWE Universe and announces the injury to Rhea Ripley before stating a battle royal will take place the following week to crown the new Women's World Champion.
Rhea Ripley is nowhere to be seen on the show as she does not announce the injury herself, however we do get a segment backstage between Adam Pearce and Judgment Day. Damian Priest tells Adam Pearce he is making a grave mistake by forcing Rhea Ripley to vacate the championship, but Adam Pearce hears none of it. Pearce is adamant that the battle royal will take place and a new champion will be crowned. Priest tells Adam Pearce that he can call any woman on the roster a "champion," but there is no chance Rhea is going to hand over her belt without a fight.
Pearce, for his part, tells Damian Priest that he expects Rhea Ripley to show up to Raw next weeks and relinquish her title, for if she does not, then he may have to strip Damian Priest of his World Heavyweight Championship.
"Like it or not, I will have a championship belt in my hand by the end of Raw next week. I'll let your little group decide which title is vacated."

Raw, April 22nd, 2024

The Battle Royal takes place almost exactly as it did in real life. Becky Lynch wins the battle royal by last eliminating Liv Morgan.
After the match, Rhea Ripley's music hits and she comes out with one arm in a sling and the Women's Championship dangling from the other.
"Congratulations, Becky. You entered this battle royal with 13 other women and proved that you deserve this championship by beating each and every woman on the roster.... well, except for me....

...and one other woman."

Just then, Shayna Baszler blasts Becky Lynch from behind and locks in the Kirifuda Clutch before tossing Becky Lynch over the top rope. Shayna follows Becky to the outside and continues to beat her down until the two are separated by security.
Adam Pearce storms passed Rhea Ripley on the ramp and asks her what the hell she has done.
Rhea replies, "You wanted a champion, Pearce? I gave you a champion."
Shayna is escorted back up the ramp and passes Rhea. Rhea hands her the belt and Shayna holds the title high to close out the segment.

Rhea Ripley Exclusive Interview

In an exclusive WWE.com interview, Rhea Ripley is asked about her newfound alliance with Shayna Baszler. Rhea states that when she was climbing the ranks in NXT, Shayna Baszler was the toughest opponent she had to face. Even though Rhea suffered losses to the likes of Charlotte Flair and Iyo Sky, Shayna Baszler never failed to make Rhea Ripley hurt every time they stepped in the ring together.
And now, Rhea wants that same pain inflicted on every woman of the Raw roster.
Rhea states that Shayna Baszler is now a full fledged member of the Judgment Day and despite their storied rivalry in NXT, the two are now so close that they are practically sisters and Rhea believes Shayna is fully capable of defending the Women's title until Rhea is healthy enough to return.
"If you think the women's roster was in trouble with Mami on top, wait until you see what Auntie Baszler has in store for them."

Raw, April 29th, 2024

Becky Lynch arrives at the arena and makes a beeline for the ring. Bex takes a mic and tells the crowd she's been pissed off for a week and now she's calling out Shayna Baszler. Baszler does not come out right away so Becky Lynch continues, calling the attack last week bullshit and claiming the last time she faced Shayna Baszler one on one, Becky Lynch was pregnant and she STILL kicked Shayna's ass.
Shayna Baszler arrives with Judgment Day music and the Women's Championship dangling from her hand. Shayna admits Becky bested her at Wrestlemania 36, but much has changed in four years. Shayna has four more years of training while it seems Becky Lynch is only losing momentum. Shayna reveals Adam Pearce will not recognize her as the Interim Women's Champion but states if she makes Becky bleed just as she did four years ago, maybe she will finally give Adam Pearce something to recognize. At this point Shayna has entered the ring and Becky Lynch responds by headbutting her directly on the nose. Becky pounces on Shayna with strikes, forcing Shayna out of the ring, leaving the Women's title behind. As Becky raises the title above her head, Shayna looks on from the ramp laughing, blood dripping from her nose into her maw, staining the mouthguard.
Later in the night, Becky Lynch meets with Adam Pearce in his office and hands him the Women's title. Becky tells Pearce that she collected his bounty, that she got the title back for him, and now she wants him to make the match for Backlash, Becky Vs Baszler. Adam Pearce thanks Becky for her help and grants her request.

Backlash 2024

A big bienvenue from Lyons, France.
I struggled with posting on Reddit yesterday so I'm just going to try and hit the finish on each of the matches in this booking.
Becky Lynch tries for the Manhandle Slam but Shayna rolls through the Pumphandle and locks Becky in the Kirifuda. Baszler's arm is wrested on Becky's chin as the Lasskicker struggles to fight out. Becky reaches between her legs to pick Baszler's leg for the takedown but Baszler, anticipating this, takes ahold of Becky's wrist with one hand, executes a half nelson with the other, and drops Becky on her head with a Pumphandle Half-Nelson Suplex. Baszler holds the bridge and gets the pin.
Shayna Baszler defeats Becky Lynch to become the new Women's World Champion.

A Trip to NXT

I'm keeping Shayna Baszler off of King of the Ring partially because I switched the Becky match with the Bayley triple threat from Backlash in my headcanon, and partially because I don't want Shayna thrown from a roof.
So instead, in anticipation of NXT Battleground, Shayna Baszler ventures down to NXT where she participates in weekly squash matches to get several moves over. Over the next five weeks, Shayna picks up wins with the following moves:
At NXT Battleground, Shayna Baszler takes on Masha Slamovich in a rematch from their shoot fight at Bloodsport which Shayna wins by referee decision upon using her Pumphandle Half Nelson Suplex that she is now calling "The Queen's Suplex."
Meanwhile, at King of the Ring, Liv Morgan defeated Naomi to win the Queen's Crown to earn a title shot at Clash at the Castle.

Back on Raw

Shayna Baszler returns to Raw and we begin a storyline that makes it clear Shayna is a bit of an awkward fit in the Judgment Day. Shayna approaches her involvement as very businesslike and not as warm or personable as Rhea is with the likes of Dom, Finn or Priest. With this, there are several differences in reaction. Finn respects the business mentality and has no issue in keeping things professional; Damian Priest and Shayna constantly butt heads and argue, but it is also clear that Priest enjoys the challenge of working with Shayna and respects how easily she can dissect most of the women's roster; JD McDonagh thinks Shayna Baszler is hot and tries coming on to her at every opportunity...
And then there's Dom.
It's not Shayna's fault, she didn't ask for any of this or to fill this role, but Dom simply misses Mami. Dom is seen immediately leaving the scene whenever Shayna comes into frame and has a dreadful facial expression whenever attention is brought to Shayna as the group stands in the ring.
And Liv Morgan has apparently caught onto this.
Just as in real life, Liv Morgan is seen speaking to Dom backstage as tensions boil over between herself and Judgment Day. Liv openly gloats about injuring Rhea Ripley which angers all of Judgment Day and seems to infuriate Dominik as well.
On the go-home show to Clash, Shayna hatches a plot that sees JD and Finn kidnap Liv and bring her to the ring. Dom and Shayna follow the group and once in the ring, Shayna begins mercilessly stomping on Liv Morgan's head before drawing her up in the Kirifuda Clutch.
Just then, Finn Balor hands Dominik Mysterio a Police Grade, Smith and Wesson 16 Extendable Baton and Shayna instructs him to bash Liv over the head with it. Dom hesitates but grows with anger as Shayna yells at him, telling him this is the girl who broke his heart. This is the girl who sent Mami away. And with that, Dom rears back and strikes Liv in the stomach.
Liv collapses to the mat as Judgment Day leave with Dom in tow, but Dirty Dom cannot help but look back at Liv Morgan, crumpled in the ring alone.

Clash at the Castle 2024

Liv Morgan's music hits but she is nowhere to be seen. Shayna's music hits and the champion is out promptly with Dom and JD. Shayna taunts Liv for either missing her flight or being too cowardly to show her face in Scotland and demands the referee ring the bell and begin a countout. The referee counts to 7 before Liv's music hits once more and out she comes....
... and Liv has brought Hell with her.
Liv is armed to the teeth with a bulletproof vest, helmet and multiple weapons. Dom and JD race into the aisle to restrain her but Liv electrocutes JD with a cattle prod and maces Dominik with pepper spray. Shayna rolls from the ring and grabs a Kendo Stick to defend herself and strikes at Liv but the bulletproof vest stops the force. Liv headbutts Shayna with the helmet and picks up the Kendo Stick herself, swatting at Shayna through the crowd until Liv finally knocks Shayna out on a table with another stiff headbutt with the helmet. Liv then climbs to the balcony and dives off with a Splash, sending Shayna through the table and ending the segment.
The match is thrown out as a No Contest but it is clear there is still bad blood between Liv and Shayna that must be resolved. On the following Raw, Liv Vs Shayna is made official for Money in the Bank per Shayna Baszler's request, but under Liv's request the match will be held under Street Fight rules.
P.S. Apparently Liv and Shayna have had a TON of street fights on house shows last year. Who knew?

Money in the Bank 2024

Liv comes out in the Riott (haha) gear and Shayna is dressed in a standard Gi. Shayna begins the match by systematically dismantling Liv's gear and stripping her of the helmet and bulletproof vest. Shayna continues to lay in strikes until Liv gets the upperhand by blasting Shayna with a fire extinguisher from under the ring.
Liv would continue to fight back with a Kendo Stick until JD and Finn Balor would get involved, however, Liv dispatched of them quickly by tasing JD and bashing Finn off the apron with a riot shield, sending him through a table at ringside. Here, Shayna would take control by attacking Liv from behind, just as Dominik Mysterio would make his presence known in the ring. Dom, carrying the Smith and Wesson baton, is instructed by Shayna to strike Liv in the head to end the match. Shayna pulls Liv into the Kirifuda Clutch and tells Dom to end it. Dom swings...
AND LIV DUCKS! DOM STRIKES SHAYNA IN THE HEAD!
Shayna falls to the mat in a heap as Dom drops the baton in shock. Liv snatches the baton while Dom is distracted and begins leveling him with numerous shots, sending Latino Heat Jr. out of the ring. Liv grabs the riot shield and goes to the top, coming down on Shayna hard with a shield-assisted Splash.
1.
2.
KICKOUT BY SHAYNA!
Liv is despondent and begins to cry in frustration, but she then rolls out of the ring and produces a sack from underneath the ring. Coming back in, Shayna is dazed and just about to her feet as Liv empties the contents, littering the ring with thousands and thousands of thumbtacks. Shayna grimaces in disgust before she and Liv start trading blows in the center of the tack filled ring. Shayna gets the better of Liv and goes for a Gutwrench Suplex only for Liv to land on her feet and execute a vicious Back Body Drop! Shayna cries out in pain as a hundred tacks pierce her back with Liv stalking her as she rises to her knees. Liv measures Shayna and his Ob-Liv-ion into the tacks but is slow to the cover after landing in the thumbtacks herself. Liv crawls to the cover when suddenly...

RHEA RIPLEY!

Rhea enters the ring and collects Liv before she can make the pinfall, grabbing her in a Pumphandle and dropping her right back into the tacks with the Riptide! Rhea then drags a dazed Shayna Baszler over top of Liv Morgan and the ref counts the stacked pin with Mami on top.
Shayna Baszler defeats Liv Morgan to retain the Women's World Championship.

Raw, July 8th, 2024

Rhea Ripley returns to Raw with Shayna Baszler and announces that she is cleared to wrestle. Rhea thanks the fans for their support and especially thanks Shayna Baszler for holding down Judgment Day in her absence and reigning as a phenomenal Women's Champion. However, Rhea states that she is ready to handle things from here and Shayna is no longer needed as Interim Champion. With that, Rhea extends her hand and asks Shayna Baszler to please return the Women's Champion to its rightful owner.
Shayna takes the microphone and tells Rhea it is good to have her back on Raw and she is glad she is healthy. Shayna thanks Rhea for her help at Money in the Bank and is happy she got some measure of revenge over Liv Morgan, and she closes by saying the following:
"Rhea, I love you like a sister, but if you want this title back you are going to have to take it from my cold, dead hands."
Rhea's expression falls as she and Shayna drop their mics, squaring up to each other. Rhea and Shayna exchange a few words off mic before Shayna fires the first shot and the two begin scrapping in the middle of the ring! Security rush down to ringside with Judgment Day as Dom and Priest help restrain Rhea and JD and Finn help restrain Shayna. The scene is utter chaos as Raw ends with both women fighting like hell to attack each other.

Raw, July 15th, 2024

Rhea Ripley stakes her claim to the Women's World Championship, citing the fact she never lost the title and Shayna was only ever made Interim Champion. Adam Pearce grants this, but only if Rhea can defend the title next week on Raw.

Raw, July 22nd, 2024

Rhea Ripley successfully defends the title against Liv Morgan. Rhea sells the shoulder after the match and is then attacked by Shayna Baszler. Shayna locks in the Kirifuda Clutch and Rhea fades in the ring despite rising to her feet multiple times, fighting the hold. Shayna stands over Rhea's prone body and says at Summerslam she will become the Undisputed Women's Champion.

Raw, July 29th, 2024

Rhea and Shayna are interviewed in separate locations via satellite as they both sign a contract for the match at Summerslam. Rhea says this is usually the part where she slams Shayna through a table but instead of that, she's going to save all of her aggression for Summerslam when she walks out the winner.

Summerslam 2024

Rhea makes good on her promise and starts the match out hot with Shayna, dropping her early with a big boot and hard Irish whip into the corner. Shayna rolls out of the ring and Rhea follows, launching her into the barricade and bashing her head off the ringpost before bringing her back into the ring. A small cut has formed above Shayna's right eye and Shayna looks dazed as Rhea tackles her in the ring and throws a number of punches to the head. The referee pulls Rhea off after a warning and Rhea yells out to the crowd to thunderous cheers. Shayna stumbles to her feet and Rhea levels her with a pair of dropkicks before bridging her into a 2 count with a Northern Lights Suplex.
Rhea sends Shayna back into the corner but Shayna kicks out Rhea's leg, sending her into the middle turnbuckle. Shayna takes over with a series of well placed strikes before locking Rhea in an Armbar, but Rhea fights to her feet and hits a Riptide!
1.
2.
Kickout by Shayna!
Rhea shows some frustration and looks to the corner, remembering what it took years ago to beat Shayna Baszler in NXT. Rhea carries Shayna with her to the turnbuckle and lifts her to the second rope. Rhea sits herself on the top and prepares to lift Shayna for the Avalanche Riptide but Shayna is fighting back with back elbows. Shayna has the upperhand now and turns to face Rhea head on. Shayna headbutts Rhea twice before sinking her teeth directly into Rhea's forehead. Rhea cries out in pain as a close up camera shot shows a line of blood dripping down! Shayna Baszler has just busted Rhea Ripley open with her teeth! Shayna hops down back into the ring and takes Rhea's leg out from under her, slamming her back first into the top turnbuckle. Rhea flops down into the ring, still horrified by Shayna's primal tactics as Shayna draws her up and plants her with the Queen's Suplex right into a Kirifuda Clutch. Rhea hangs on and even manages to rise to her feet, only for Shayna to plant her with a second Queen's Suplex. Shayna locks in the Kirifuda once again and Rhea Ripley passes out.
Shayna Baszler defeats Rhea Ripley to become the Undisputed Women's World Champion.

2024.06.02 04:51 CappuccinotheBear How do I reinstall applications following a restored backup on iOS 5.1.1 without the App Store or iTunes?

How do I reinstall applications following a restored backup on iOS 5.1.1 without the App Store or iTunes?
\"Restored\" iCloud Backup w/ failed syncs (Part 1)
(Part 2)
Currently, I'm attempting to jailbreak my childhood iPod Touch (3rd gen, running iOS 5.1.1) in hopes of decrypting and dumping its apps, some of which are lost media. Per the wiki's recommendations, I downloaded Absinthe V2.0.4. Because that software refused to work unless I wiped my device first, I backed up its data using iTunes and iCloud. Unfortunately, however, given that the iTunes and App Store servers were disabled for older devices, my iPod now cannot redownload its applications and music upon a restore. As my screenshots demonstrate, both iTunes and iCloud Backup partially fail, though I am able to preview my home screen configuration if I use the latter.
Therefore, how can I properly retrieve these apps & their data? I realize that older versions of iTunes for Windows or Mac could restore purchases, but then I risk updating some of them, which I do not want to have happen. (After all, many of these specific apps are lost media because of their age and/or version!) Out of desperation, I even perused old iMazing app files, yet I received an error message containing the phrase "housearrest"(?) when I tried transferring one to the iPod. I should mention that I haven't run Cydia yet or installed any tweaks out of fear of further sabotaging the restore efforts. Let me know if this anxiety is misguided. Indeed, googling my issue brought up Checkmate, Store! and related tweaks. That being said, can they assist with reinstating applications that were already installed on the device and their corresponding save data? Any advice is greatly appreciated 😞

2024.06.02 04:49 brod333 Responding to Exion’s response pt 1

Exion has finally started to respond to my posts. It would be easier if Exion would unblock me and engage with me directly but they still refuse to do so. It would also be nice if they linked the posts they are responding to so anyone reading his posts can look up my posts. I made sure to do that for all his posts. In this post I’ll be responding to https://www.reddit.com/Quraniyoon/s/98oVSczZYe.
For the list of parts in my series see https://www.reddit.com/Quraniyoon/s/01K9X3Pjxj
In this post, I will be answering and refuting the individual who keeps writing posts about me and comments every second he gets trying to "refute" me and "expose" me. I am only doing this because some brothers and sisters have allowed themselves to be fooled by this dude.
In his last post before he started addressing my criticisms he made it clear he wouldn’t engage with my criticisms. It’s only after the mods told him to either respond or they’d remove his posts, as can be seen here https://www.reddit.com/Quraniyoon/s/c1XSgLQlZe, that he started responding to me. Given those facts I find it hard to believe his reasons given here for responding to me.
He begins by discussing my translation of the word "ישוחח," which I interpret as "argue" or "put forth."
That’s not where I begin. There is some important context before that. The first part of my first post was about showing the general sloppy nature of his posts using examples which he acknowledged his mistake, are things someone who knows Hebrew would be unlikely to make, and which he later copied elsewhere without fixing the mistake. The issue of ישוחח is just one part of this.
Firstly, in Biblical Hebrew, verb forms such as Qal and Piel (often referred to as Polel in some grammatical traditions) are distinguished by their specific diacritic markings (i.e., vowel points and consonantal diacritics).
Nope. The difference between the Qal and Polel forms in this case are not just in the diacritical marks but also have consonant differences.
Since I believe that the Masoretes distorted the Old Testament by adding these diacritics to reach a deviant interpretation, I do not consider them at all. I read the Old Testament without any diacritics. This is something he has yet to understand
Again in this case it’s not just the diacritical marks. I also understand Exion rejects them and in my responses I give reasons why his diacritical mark suggestions don’t work.
He later argues that the ancient Christian manuscripts (such as the Codex Sinaiticus, Septuagint, etc.) must agree with my claims and not with the Masoretic renderings of the Hebrew text, a conclusion he bases on thin air. I ask: Why is that so? Can you give us one good reason for this conclusion? You can't! He says this only because he considers these Christian manuscripts as divinely revealed criteria and translations.
Note the Septuagint was written by Jews not Christians. I’ve also given my reasons for why those should agree with Exion. He ignores those reasons and then attributes different reasons I never said. I’ll repeat again, Exion’s theory that he’s stated multiple times is that when the Masoretes added the diacritical marks they intentionally added ones that change the original meaning of the text to cover prophecies about Mohammed and Islam. He then claims he is discovering the original true meaning of the verses. If this is true then pre Masorete texts would still have the original meaning. Also any sources from after the Masoretes but which weren’t influenced by them should still have the original meaning. Also any before Mohammed and Islam wouldn’t have the same motivation to hide prophecies about Mohammed and Islam.
The Masoretes could even have been influenced by Christians and their manuscripts,
This is a textbook example of an ad hoc assumption. An ad hoc assumption is when an assumption is added without any evidence to modify a theory for the sole purpose of avoiding falsification of the theory by some evidence. Since these sources that should agree with Exion don’t agree he added a new assumption without evidence to modify his theory to avoid falsification.
It’s also a problematic assumption. The Masoretes were Jews. Jews and Christians were split a few hundred years earlier and so didn’t really influence each other. For the Septuagint this was written even before Christianity. It’s so far before Islam and Mohammed that it’s extremely unlikely they were trying to hide any prophecies about them. It’s one of our oldest sources for the text making them a good source for how early Jews understood the text. It serves as an excellent source for testing Exion’s claims since if they’re true we’d expect, at least a significant portion of the time, they’d agree with Exion. If no one else in history, even before the diacritical marks were added, agrees with Exion then Exion is not speaking the same language as everyone else.
In other words, both Qal and Polel essentially mean the same thing.
Here is what Exion said previously, “Regarding the phrase "Who will argue...", an alternative rendering could be "Who will claim..." However, using the word "argue" may be more faithful to the original text, as it carries a connotation of "complaining" or "disputing" rather than simply making a statement or engaging in ordinary conversation. This nuance helps capture the intended meaning more accurately.”
They specifically note the nuance of the meaning ‘complain’. What they failed to notice is that meaning is only part of the Qal form not the Polel. Both their original and new dictionary citation show this. Since the verb in question is in the Polel form that meaning doesn’t apply. Both source clearly listed the two different forms and the meanings for both. Either this is another case of Exion not reading his sources properly or he didn’t realize the correct form of the verb. Either way it shows the general unreliability of Exion.
Thus, he has fixated on this specific word, insisting it is (without a shadow of a doubt) in the Polel form (because his Pauline forefathers said so)
Actually I insist it’s in the Polel because I understand the different verb congregations. It’s not just diacritical marks but consonant differences as well. A key way we can tell is that the final consonant, ח, is duplicated.
Let's see if the Polel form does anything to save him:
This whole section is a lengthy that follows completely misses the point. Here is the original discussion, https://www.reddit.com/DebateReligion/s/f3XrmqDNqi. Like back then his response misses the point. I go on to note how is translation depends upon connecting two parks of the sentence where the diacritical marks have a break. I asked given all the mistakes he’s made up to that point, with the mix up of the Qal and Polel being the most recent at that time, why should we trust him over the Masoretes. The idea was to show how Exion is unreliable and doesn’t know Hebrew so he can’t be trusted over Hebrew speakers. He doesn’t justify why we shouldn’t take a break at that section, we’re just supposed to trust him but with all the mistakes he makes we can’t trust him. Furthermore after adjusting his translation to accommodate the Polel meaning the next day he copied his post to this subreddit without making the same correction but leaving the mistaken Qal meaning.
I believe (if I remember correctly) that he translates it as:
Nope. I never gave my own translation for this verse. He could have just checked the discussion but instead he made another sloppy mistake where he misrepresented what someone else has said. The discussion is public for anyone to read it themselves and see I never said that.
He goes on to say that I quoted from a fictitious source, which is not true at all. I simply didn’t bother looking through my entire library to find a quote I mistakenly mis-referenced, mainly because the quote turned out to be quite irrelevant, and I don’t waste my time like that.
That’s just an excuse. After giving the original citation a few people tried and couldn’t find it. He was pressed on the issue. Finally after some back and forth he gave a new book name and new author. However, the citation still couldn’t be found in that new book. It was at that point where he just ignored any further requests for proving the source exists. This is the first time since then he’s acknowledged it. Given that course of events it’s strong evidence the citation doesn’t actually exist. Until he provides proof the citation actually exists we should take the citation as fictitious. Though even if the source does exist his acknowledgment of a wrong citation is still evidence of his sloppy work and unreliability with representing sources, something he does very often.
So, I will not bother to refute every single point of the old stuff that I’ve already conclusively answered.
He never did. For the issue about copying the verse number and making it part of the verse all he could say before is that it’s a minor mistake that I’m overblowing. However, as I note the error is not a minor one but actually requires several points of failure, some of which are hard to accidentally make. E.g. removing the space between the verse number and first word after copying takes intentional action. For the pronoun suffixes his response boils down to just claiming every single person who has ever translated it is wrong and he is right. He refused to give a general account of pronoun suffixes that supports his translation along with a source to back up his account. I on the other hand took a picture of my Hebrew textbook showing the full chart to prove he is wrong.
Regarding the stone God mentions that was to be placed in the Temple of God, he says that it is saying
Notice in this section of his response he changes his original translation to include the second instance of the word stone that he previously missed. This acknowledges that he was originally wrong and missed that word. He just tries to rework the translation have that second occurrence of the word stone while still referring to God’s stone. Let’s see if it works.
The next word is אל: This is taken as a preposition according to them, and it generally means "to" or "toward," and never "upon." It is used to indicate direction or movement towards something. While the following word is, again, a stone "אבן."
I deal with his simplistic view of Hebrew pronouns in my pt 2. Once again we have the same problem. The relationship between pronouns in Hebrew compared to English is complicated. The pronoun in my pt 2 analysis has 8 pages in the BDB. אל has 2 pages. For על, which we be relevant in a moment, it has almost 6 pages for the proposition part. It’s far more complicated than giving a short list and only limiting translation to that list.
Regarding אל the BDB under note 2 points out there is a tendency to use it interchangeably with על. For על it lists upon as one of the meanings. Exion goes on to argue the limited set of meanings he gives don’t make sense and from that argues אל should instead be taken to be God. However, when we realized prepositions are more complicated than he makes them out to be and that אל can mean upon this argument fails.
Here, "אל־אבן" would translate to "God's stone" or "stone of God."
Here is the chapter from my textbook on the construct relationship singular. https://imgur.com/a/TWa8x4B. Take the first example. The first word on Hebrew is סוּס which means horse. The second word is הַמֶּלֶךְ which means the king. The translation given is “the horse of the king”. The second page gives examples of how this is translated into English with a ‘s. Based on that “the horse of the king” would be “the king’s horse”. This example shows us if we accept Exion’s claim אל means God and this is a construct relationship then the translation would actually be “God of stone” or “stone’s God”. Exion has flipped the words in his translation.
Thus, the phrase "מטרם שום־אבן אל־אבן בהיכל יהוה" would be understood as "before placing a stone as God's stone in the temple of YHWH" or "before placing a stone, God's stone, in the temple of YHWH"
Actually with the correct word order we’d have “before placing a stone, God of stone, in the temple of YHWH”.
Or you could simply not take "El" as a construct state. In Hebrew, a noun followed by another noun can indicate possession without needing a construct state (i.e. the equivalent of adding 's in English). This is often called "smikhut" or construct form, but it is not always necessary to explicitly form it.
This is confused. He thinks construct state refers to a specific different form or the noun but the possession meaning doesn’t require that different form. My textbook shows that’s mistaken. Yes it’s true the possession meaning doesn’t require a different form, however it’s still called the construct state. This is evident from my textbook. It notes at the bottom of the second page the construct state is sometimes the same as the absolute state. I didn’t mean to say Exion was taking it as having a different form from the absolute state but was pointing out he takes the phrase as indicating possession. That’s why I said if we add the missing word at take the phrase as indicating possession we’d get “stone’s God’s stone”.
This is something he doesn't know because, well, who knows why.
As my textbook proves it’s him that doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Explicitly contradicting your claim that it doesn't exist, but you didn't know that because you have probably never even read the entirety of the chapter to begin with. The Temple was already there. A stone was to be placed in it, God's stone, the black stone of the House of God, and not that it was to be built or built anew. This is why I even wrote the article, because the temple of God was already in existence. How you could have missed this, if you've read the chapter in it entirety, is very baffling to me.
What’s baffling to me is how someone can be so confident and condescending while being so wrong. Not only did Exion fail to research the historical context of the literature he tries to interpret, he failed to notice my summary of the history. Haggai gives explicit historical markers for when the prophecies were made. “In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:” Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬. This places the prophecy in 520 B.C. This was after the Babylonians conquered Israel (specifically the southern kingdom as the northern was already conquered), brought them into exile, destroyed the first temple, the Persians conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews back to Israel to rebuilt the temple. They started to built the temple but stoped when opposition arose. Haggai’s prophecies are about pushing the Jews to continue rebuilding the temple. You can read about the fall of Israel by the Babylonians at the end of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles. You can read about the return to Israel in Ezra and Nehemiah (note the events in Ezra are before those in Nehemiah).
Exion mentions Haggai 2:3 to disprove me. This is another case of him misrepresenting his sources. Let’s analyze it carefully part by part.
"Who among you is left, who saw this house in its former glory?” The word former indicates it had that glory in the past but no longer has it. That is because the previous temple was destroyed.
“And as you see it now”. This calls to attention a comparison of the former glory with the current glory.
“is it not as nothing in your eyes?" This expresses the current glory calling it nothing in their eyes. That’s because the previous temple was destroyed and not yet rebuilt.
Also check out these verses: ““Thus says the Lord of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.” Then the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, “Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins? Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the Lord. You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house. Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. And I have called for a drought on the land and the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil, on what the ground brings forth, on man and beast, and on all their labors.” Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭11 ‭ESV‬‬. It’s pretty clear the previous temple lies in ruins and God is calling them to rebuild it.
This is why Jacob
Jacob lived long before the temple was built. His life is recorded in Genesis. There is a lot of history in between Jacob’s life in Genesis and the building of the temple in 1 Kings/2 Chronicles. Either Exion is completely ignorant of the history he is commenting on or he’s cherry picking which parts he wants to accept.
Lying and adding words to the Word of God to make it look like another House would be raised.
But that’s literally what happened in history. The first temple was destroyed and the later rebuilt. Again check out the books I mentioned for the historical background, especially Ezra which records the events during the time Haggai was prophesying.
The preposition "the" is not there before "Chemdat," while it is before "Goyim" (heathens), which makes sense because "Chemdat of all the heathens (will come)" and doesn't translate to "The treasure of all the heathens (will come)," as they have it.
Exion takes the lack of the definite article before chemdat as indicating it shouldn’t be translated with a “the” as its indefinite. He then argues taking chemdat the traditional way doesn’t make sense without the definite article so we should instead take it as a name. This again shows he doesn’t know Hebrew.
Note Exion translates it as Chemdat of. He interprets it as possession indicating he takes the Hebrew as being in the construct state. I linked above the chapter on the construct state. The first page notes a noun in the construct state never has the definite article. Instead the the last noun as the definite article then the noun in the construct state is also definite, and if the last noun is indefinite then the noun in the construct state is indefinite. Exion also acknowledges the last noun as having the definite article. When we actually understand the construct relationship we see that while there is no definite article on chemdat it’s still definite since it’s in the construct form with the last noun having the definite article. This undermines his argument for why chemdat is a name.
The phrase "הגוים" (ha-goyim) translates as "the heathens,"
The BDB lists this word as meaning nations/people. Heathen has very negative connotations which are not necessarily implied by the word.
He then says He will fill this house, which they saw as nothing, with glory. The house already exists;
Again look at the historical markers Haggai gives and the historical books for the historical background. Also look at the passage I quoted from Haggai 1 which clearly mentions the current temple in ruins and God calling the people to rebuild it. The promise God is making in Haggai 2:7 is about the new temple being greater than the former.
Going back to Haggai 2, the 18th verse also confirms that the Temple already was there:
"Consider, please, your heart from this day and onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the temple of the Lord was founded, consider your heart."
This particular section is Haggai 2:10-19. By this time the Jews started rebuilding the temple again and had laid the foundation. Haggai 2:15 and 18 are parallel passages calling the people to consider the time since that work on rebuilding the temple was done. God then points to the blessing they’ve experienced since then. That is in contrast to the hardships listed in Haggai 1:10-11 that God says we’re because they weren’t rebuilding his temple.
Nevertheless, he is right about one thing regarding this chapter: it does not mention the new moon to new moon and the end of the Sabbath—that was in Isaiah 66. My mistake.
Yes it is a mistake and it is one of way too many to count where he messes up representing his source in some way.
the second phrase can be interpreted as an end (if we interpret "Shabbat" as "End")
Actually it can’t. I missed this in my post but u/c0d3rman caught it in his comment on Exion’s post. The definition Exion gives in his post is the verb “to cease”. However, “an end” is not a verb but a noun. His translation doesn’t match his own definition.
but it is Biblically and generally interpreted as "Sabbath."
Because as a noun it means Sabbath.
A literal translation of the phrase in the 23rd verse would be:
‎>שבת (shabbat) - "Sabbath"
‎>בשבתו (be-shabbato) - "His Sabbath"
‎>יבוא (yavo) - "it will come"
Putting יבוא as part of this phrase has 3 problems. First it breaks the parallel in grammar and idea with the previous phrase. Second the subject of the verb then becomes the sabbath but that’s not possible. The gender of the verb and subject need to match but sabbath is feminine while יבוא is masculine. Third Exion’s translation has יבוא translated twice, both as part of this phrase and as part of the following phrase. However the word only occurs once in Hebrew so it can’t be translated twice into English as a part of 2 different phrases.
I also explained how this phrase is an idiom in my first post. I referenced the BDB which explains how we know it’s an idiom and what the idiom means, which corresponds to the traditional translation. The verse is not talking about a sabbath coming to a sabbath or coming to an end. It’s saying the frequency that all flesh shall come to worship before God.
I’ve mentioned the BDB often as a source. For those unaware there is an online version where words can be searched, https://www.sefaria.org/BDB. I’m mentioning this because unlike Exion I want to be sure people can easily find the sources I reference. If anyone has trouble finding any particular word I’m not sure how to link to specific words but I’m happy to take pics of my physical copy.
u/TheQuranicMumin you said “If he fails/refuses to do this, we will remove his posts for misinformation.” Can we agree already this counts as a failure to respond and consider his posts misinformation or do I really need to continue addressing his posts/responses?
