2024.05.22 00:12 SquiffSquiff Custom GPT equivalent on Bedrock - Do I have this process right? Really?!

Today I was struggling with some documentation on a hosted public cloud application. Ironically this is an AWS hosted proprietary service with poor google visibility or local search but it could be anything. I 'built and trained' a Custom GPT in about ten minutes. Looks good but I am not allowed to share it by default because 'it references trademarks'. OK, well, appeal, and maybe I can use Bedrock instead. Do I really have this right?
I sign in to AWS and go to Bedrock.
  1. I have to enable permission for my (admin) user to use Bedrock
  2. I have to make a request for the specific model(s) I want access to, i.e. this request may be denied, and wait. Apparently the UI is terrible in this respect so not sure how long that might take.
I'm then expected to do some Heath Robinson immersion-day special with Lambdas and dynamo and S3 and whatever else to ingest my data and then whatever else to support an API that I can call and hook up to a web frontend that of course I have the time and inclination to create myself, maybe like this
Oh yeah, and much of this is console only apparently...
Is this seriously what AWS are doing for a service that they want uptake on? Alternatively I could deploy a Kubernetes cluster with Llama3 and openwebui completely in code. For a 'complete' example on an odd-bod cloud see this. Might need to do some tweaks to read websites but not write original code. I suppose it might be even simpler to simply hook a front end on my website up to an OpenAI/Anthropic etc backend API.
In other words I can have a complete implementation in code for an LLM 'self hosted' that I would expect (after assembly!) to deploy in less than 30 minutes with high availability etc, a web front end and its own site crawler. I can do this in AWS, test out, tear down, not worry about leaving anything potentially expensive running and transfer verbatim to a client site without having to grant myself or request special permission or wait or be potentially refused.
What am I supposed to be considering paying Amazon for here again?

2024.05.22 00:12 skim-milk Fake “remote work” job offers to send me thousands of dollars

Not sure if I used the right flair because I know this is a scam, I just don’t know WHAT the scam is.
I received an email from a “HR representative” who thought I would be a good fit for a job I’d applied for. I definitely applied for the job, but the email address looked slightly off—hr-companyname.com as opposed to companyname.com. I’ve seen companies do weird things like this and I had actually applied for a job with the company, so I responded. I figured as long as they don’t ask for my banking info or anything like that, I’d go along with it just in case it was legit.
They asked me to respond to “screening questions” that assessed my skills and experience. Again, a little weird, but I’ve been asked to jump through stupid hoops for job interviews before so I went ahead and responded just in case it was legit. At this point, the only personal info they’d asked me for was my name and email, both of which they already had. I asked the guy some questions about the company but didn’t hear back (he was very responsive in his previous messages), so I figured it was fake and moved on.
Two days later I get an email congratulating me on being selected for employment at a rate of $95/hr. No interview, no phone call, no zoom call, just hey you’re hired. They still did not ask me for any of my personal info, but sent me a list of thousands of dollars worth of equipment to buy and said they would send me a check to cover the cost for me to get set up.
At this point it’s 1000% obvious this is completely fake, so I found a phone number on the real company website and called them to inform them this was happening. The receptionist confirmed that both of their HR people are women and no one by that name worked there in any capacity and said I wasn’t the first person to call them about this. I forwarded her the scam emails for her to send to their IT team. I’m guessing there was some kind of data breach on the application I submitted, but what’s the scam here?
They never asked me for any banking info or tried to send me a “digital check”, which I’ve seen before. They didn’t ask me to submit a resume which other fake recruiters have done. They didn’t ask me for any of my personal information at all, no ID, no social security number, etc. They offered to mail me a check first so I can go buy my equipment from any store I want, so they aren’t trying to get me to buy equipment from them through some fake electronics store with the expectation of being reimbursed. It seems like if I moved forward, they would have sent me a check for several thousand dollars? Is the scam that if I try to deposit it, they’d sue me for check fraud or something?

2024.05.22 00:07 Weekly_Ad9807 How are "The New Evangelicals" a non-profit?

hi friends, longtime viewestalker of the thread. I recently went through my own deconstruction and found The New Evangelical's content a good place to start. However...I noticed they cite themselves as being a "non-profit." I'm wondering how this works? Aren't they just a deconstruction content farm? I've heard the main guy say a few times "i'm not an influencer" but in all reality, it's 99% him (he's an influencer whether he likes it or not lol). I see they have a board, which makes sense, but I'm still having trouble understanding how this is any different then just another social media influencer.
A non-profit is "an entity that is created and operated for charitable or socially beneficial purposes rather than to make a profit," but their website shows they do generate quite a bit of revenue. How are they any different than any other Instagram influencer?
really not trying to throw them shade. I'm just curious how this works.

2024.05.22 00:07 melonoftroi Chrome and Edge images don't fully load, sometimes get Error Connection Reset error

Hey I'm hoping I can get some help here. This problem has been driving me crazy for the last ~2 months
There's two manifestations of the problem. The first one is that sometimes when I first try to load a website I will get an error page that says Error: Connection Reset, then usually I have to reload the page maybe 5 or 6 times before it will finally load. The second one is that sometimes a website loads but a few up to maybe 2/3 of the images on a page don't load. Again, if I reload it 5 or 6 times I usually can get all the images to finally load. This is more common on sites with lots of small images.
This problem happens on both Chrome and Edge but not on Firefox. It also doesn't happen on the other computer in the house or our smart phones that also use Chrome and the same network. I'm not using a VPN or a proxy server. Video calls and streaming video seem to work fine.
Fixes I have tried to no avail: deleting cache/cookies, updating Chrome, uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, resetting TCP/IP, disabling all extensions, resetting my modem/router, disabling Windows firewall, disabling Windows antivirus, disabling hybridized Kyber support in Chrome flags, disabling reader mode Chrome flag, disabling graphics acceleration setting, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting.
Any ideas?

2024.05.22 00:02 violetdeer222 what does this mean?

what does this mean?
hi! i’ve learned the basics but i’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations where i can learn more about reading my chart (in depth)?
i’m wondering:
  • what does it mean if i don’t have a planet or sign in a house? (example: 1 & 10 house is empty)
  • what are the lines? i read some are trines and stuff. what about the line from 1st to 5th house? is that a connection or meaningless?
i often see astrologers being able to read how someone’s chart shows an event or other meaningful aspects. idk it’s super cool and i would love to learn how to read my chart. i know my chart could not even have any fascinating details and it’ll take some time to educate myself, but i don’t know where to start. some apps and websites seem unreliable and i would like to learn the best i can.
thank you! 💕💕

2024.05.22 00:00 firezodyssey Soft tissue imaging - can't see damage

Has anyone had the issue that subluxations and injuries that aren't as severe as an actual tear or dislocation not showing up on imaging like ultra sounds and X-rays? Links to peer reviewed medical journal articles on imaging and EDS/HSD or other connective tissue disorders are welcome!
I'm thinking that baring an actual tear, our soft tissue is thin to begin with so it won't show damage unless there's an actual tear or the joint is still dislocated (not after a dislocation or sublux is put back in joint). I'm basing this on the story below and I'm open to comments about my current issue.
For the story context my mom and I have thin eye tissue. We're both finally diagnosed with hEDS
Current issue:
Most of my injuries and chronic issues are lower body and/or to my right side. Left side upper body is only recent. My left shoulder blade has subluxed twice from my spine in the past year.
I'm thinking that baring an actual tear, our soft tissue is thin to begin with so it won't show damage - just like my corneas don't, because that damage is everywhere. (Like a website with white text on an almost white background.)
I'm getting my first custom titanium wheelchair soon (the application is in the works). I know that to get any additions or changes in the future, including a SmartDrive power assist there must be a clinical justification. It's helpful to be either able to document injuries that can be seen on imaging or have a justification why those injuries can't be seen on imaging.
Any medical journal articles are welcome! I have a science degree with human anatomy and physiology with cadaver lab, plus work/life experience so I can read them.

2024.05.21 23:56 dawheee Random website on my domain?

hello, I need some help with a website i created. i made a site that was going to be a place to display my photography. the website domain is daithijphotography/.com (without the slash of course). i bought this domain at the start of february and i was finally ready to start displaying my work on the domain, unfortunately i ran into a problem. i searched my name on my phone purely out of boredom to see what comes up on google, and i seen the domain i bought that had nothing on it yet at the top of the search results. curious, i clicked on it and i’m met with the landing page for a company i’ve never heard of.
Symrise, i guess they’re a cosmetics brand, was appearing on my URL. it wasn’t redirecting to their website, it was just a copy of what they had on their landing page on my website, under my URL name. So i went to my laptop and searched it up there thinking maybe it was just a mistake and safari had loaded incorrectly, but it was the exact same page on my mac. i inspected the page in developer mode and there was nothing suspicious at all in the code, just a very simple HTML of the companies landing webpage. the only odd thing was text at the top of the code that read, downloaded with SingleFile, time updated 13:00 moscow, russia. other than that there were no threats and i scanned the site for malware and found none. i immediately logged into my hosting provider and my domain provider and disconnected the name servers back to defaults and that seemed to fix it. it was originally hostingers name servers and i changed it back to godaddy’s default ones. that seemed to do the trick. i rang godaddy and explained the situation and they said they couldn’t find anything suspicious and nobody had logged into my account and there was no activity other than me logging in at home. when they visited the website it just showed a parking page for godaddy.
i can’t include a screenshot, but it was this companies website showing on a site as a static version with my url at the top of it and i’m wondering how on earth could that of happened? for background the website was going to be made with wordpress so i had one blank wordpress page on my domain but nothing on it. i received a few random emails saying i had new comments on my photography site but i just ignored them as i thought it was nothing serious and was spam as i has nothing on the page to comment on.
godaddy said everything is fine and when i type the url into my search bar nothing comes up anymore, just a page that says the connection can’t be secured. i’m just curious on how this could’ve happened and would really appreciate some answers! thank you!

So I found an hbot place in Tijuana that’s way cheaper than u.s. prices. They have larger multi patient chambers. They are hardshell and go up to 3.0 atmosphere. Should I be skeptical of these chambers or are they as good as any other? They are industry standard hospital chambers. I posted the website below. Cheers.

2024.05.21 23:54 newenglandtypewriter New Typewriter Shop (Coming Fall 2024!)

Coming Fall 2024!

Nearly four years ago (Sep-2020), I began an apprenticeship at Cambridge Typewriter Co. (CTC), under legendary repairman Tom Furrier, that would come to define my life until only recently. As Tom’s chosen successor, I was over the moon to be taking CTC into the future, having already banked 1,000+ refurbished typewriters (repairs, sales, and even Hollywood props) and learned the finer points of customer service. Unfortunately, between the costs of purchasing the shop, providing necessary upgrades/modernizations, and leasing Boston-area commercial space (all the while having enough money left over for the day-to-day operations of running the business), I could not afford to acquire CTC without a bank loan. As Tom’s apprentice, and not his employee, my journey into learning the trade was funded by my extremely supportive and loving wife, who, as sole breadwinner during my entire apprenticeship, I couldn’t ask to shoulder yet another financial burden, i.e. today’s interest rates, just so I could pursue my dream of purchasing the shop.

My exit from CTC shocked both Tom and myself. On my last day, he asked what I planned to do. Considering how much we had saved to purchase CTC, I told him my wife and I hoped to begin a self-funded venture in southern New Hampshire, nearer to home, within 6-12 months. (The 80+ miles of cumulative, daily commute to/from CTC was draining.) While saddened by my departure, Tom agreed my strategy was sound and gave me his blessing, although he admitted he would try to find a replacement buyer, which I agreed was fair, as CTC is his legacy and should not be wholly dependent upon my involvement moving forward—and Tom deserves a well-earned and long-overdue retirement after decades spent maintaining the business.

Shaking hands, we parted ways.

Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of material acquisitions (hundreds of typewriters!), legal approvals, and commercial contracts, but I’m proud to announce the future opening of New England Typewriter, LLC (NET). Located minutes from the MA border in sales-tax-free New Hampshire, NET will be a self-funded typewriter shop, easily accessible from Boston/Worcester, MA; Nashua/Manchester, NH; Kittery, ME; and the entire North Shore region, without the pesky congestion of city traffic. We are also a reasonable drive from Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Apart from providing quality, affordable typewriter repair and sales, our goal is to promote a thriving typewriter community within the New England area through type-ins, outreach, and other such events.

Thank you, Tom, for your tutelage!

Thank you to my wife for her love and support (and Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary, by the way)!

Thank you, everyone, for your time and attention!

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website (under construction) to support a small business!

2024.05.21 23:54 KalElDebarge Tips for Beginners from a Beginner

I recently started collecting ouch plants and wanted to share everything I’ve learned in hopes that it will help others. These tips come from a mix of places—personal experiences, conversations with growers, reading cactus forums, Reddit, YouTube videos—and because I’m a weirdo, I’ve organized this list from essentials to less important.
Anyway… hope this is helpful and for all you experts, if I’m saying anything dumb, feel free to tell me. I’m still learning!
Miracle Gro = The Worst
Don’t use Miracle Gro. It contains coagulants that cause the soil to hold moisture for obscene amounts of time, making it incredibly easy to overwater your plants.
Personally, I prefer Uni-Gro, which comes with a good mix of organic and mineral ingredients. Depending on the type of cacti (especially those known to grow at higher elevations), I will amend it with pumice and akadama to ensure solid drainage and mineral content.
If your cacti are already planted in Miracle Gro and you don’t plan to repot them, I suggest purchasing a moisture meter from Amazon or Home Depot. Use it to keep an eye on how wet the soil is. If it’s not dry, don’t water them. If it is dry, a little goes a long way!
I’m a Plants Wetter (and Not Afraid to Admit It)
I am historically terrible when it comes to overwatering and have to remind myself that cacti are not humans--they are plants that have evolved to go years, if not centuries, without direct access to water. Take the Copiopoa, for example—they grow in the mountains of Chile, eat rocks, cook in the sun all day, and can live for hundreds of years getting moisture only from the coastal fog. Wild stuff!
I get that that’s an extreme example, but less is more and whatever I define as “less” is still probably too much. In practice, that means I’ll check my plants every 1-2 weeks (or less) and give them a sip of water if their soil is fully dry.
If you’re not sure whether the soil is moist or not, check the hole in the bottom of your pot—if it’s dry, then it’s time to water. If it’s moist—check again in a few days. If there’s no hole, repot your plant immediately.
The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Spring is cactus season! That means new growth, flowers, and action. The rest of the year? Your cacti are using that time to chill, grow, and get thicc—growth will still be taking place, it’s just less noticeable.
Don’t let that trick you into thinking your plant needs more water.
Merry & Bright
Cacti need as much light as possible. Even though I know this, you know this, and dogs know this it bears repeating.
If your plants are inside, put them by the window or under an extremely powerful grow light. Many moisture meters also come with a light meter, so it’s easy to check how much light you’re getting—but ultimately, brighter is always better.
If you’re putting them outside—morning light is the best light. Just be careful about how much exposure they’re getting in the afternoon. Here in the Coachella Valley, for example, the sun turns into a giant death ray in the sky every summer, which means most of my cacti need afternoon shade.
For everyone else, if you’re moving your cacti outdoors, like many on this subreddit have suggested, the best approach is to increase afternoon sun exposure over time; otherwise, they’ll burn.
Repotting & The Many Dumb Mistakes I’ve Made
Much like overwatering, I have made a lot of dumb mistakes when repotting in the past. C’est la vie.
Spring and summer = cactus growing season and the best time to repot. This is true of most plants, but for some reason, I didn’t figure it out until recently. I’ve killed a handful of plants because I repotted them in December and January, thinking it was OK because it’s warm here. Don’t be like me.
When it is time to repot, consider watering your plants a day or two beforehand. Take care to avoid damaging the roots and once you’re done, let them chill in a shady spot for two weeks before giving them any more water. I learned this from watching the Peter W. episode of Cactus Quest. The idea here is that the shade will reduce the shock, your plant won’t be thirsty, and it can use those two weeks to repair any root damage that occurred.
Buying plants from big box stores like Lowes, Home Depot, etc.? Check your soil! Most of these store’s wholesalers are using garbage soil that doesn’t drain and will kill your new buddies if they’re not repotted.
Propping
It’s crazy to me just how easy it is to grow new plants from cuttings. You can literally leave some species of cactus lying on a pile of dirt and they’ll start growing roots and eventually pop out new growth.
If you’re propping from a cutting—make sure to give your plant a few days to callus over, then put it in some dry soil or perlite and wait 2-4 weeks for them to take root. They’ll rot if you water them without roots because they won’t be able to drink anything.
Not sure whether it’s got roots? Give it a very gentle yank to see whether it comes out of the soil. If there’s any tension, then you’re making good progress!
Don’t Get Pricked
Cactus thorns suck. They’re a lot like splinters and can be a giant pain in the ass to remove. In situations where I have to handle them with my hands, I will do one of two things:
  1. BBQ Tongs: Use these to pick up or plant smaller specimens without having to worry about my precious digits.
  2. 2 Pairs of gloves: I go this route when handling heavier guys. The first layer is leather work gloves. The second layer is cheap raptor gloves from Amazon. I’ve found this prevents 80-90% of surprise punctures but reduces finger mobility.
Feed Me, Seymour
The right substrate (meaning it has a good balance of mineral and organic ingredients) should provide your ouch plants with almost everything they need, so you probably won’t need to worry about fertilizing.
If you do want to hook them up with some food, many folks on this subreddit recommend Schultz’s, which has worked well for me so far—I only use it sparingly only once in spring and early fall. I dilute it by 50% when I do.
If I’ve just repotted a plant, I’ll wait two weeks, then give it a sip of Moon Juice (which is 0-0-0, but full of micronutrients) to help it get established.
I Swear, it’s Not an Addiction
If it were up to me, I’d only buy from my local ouch plant dealer, but after spending some time online, I’ve found some great places to grow my collection! Here's a few:

Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - May 21, 2024) - World Copper Ltd. (TSXV: WCU) (OTCQB: WCUFF) (FSE: 7LY0) ("World Copper" or the "Company") is pleased to provide a general corporate update regarding the Company's assets and direction.
Zonia Project Update
Going forward the Company will be focusing its efforts on the Zonia Project ("Zonia") as our flagship asset, with the aim of working to advance Zonia to a bankable feasibility study and then proceeding into construction and production.
Given the current global copper supply deficit, management's belief is that the short-term solution to the copper supply crisis will come from smaller more efficient copper operations, which are cheaper to build and have less environmental impacts. Recent events in the sector have shown that major mining companies are hesitating to take on very large-scale, high capital intensity projects by looking for partners to share the risk and costs, or by targeting smaller assets and innovative or conventional leaching technologies.
Zonia fits into these new copper market dynamics perfectly offering a viable smaller scale and lower cost operation that can be permitted and constructed in half the time required on average to develop new larger concentrate mines. Being a past producer, Zonia's mineralization is pre-stripped resulting in a 1:1 strip ratio for our new operations, and it has power and water on site.
We recently announced the formation of a Technical Advisory Committee that will play a lead role in the proposed development and construction of the Zonia mining operation. Derek White and Joe Philips have joined us as advisors at World Copper. Derek is an industry leader in the copper sector having developed and built several copper mines. As the former CEO of KGHM International he built the Sierra Gorda mine in Chile and the Carlota mine in Arizona. Most recently he completed construction of the Premier Gold mine in BC. He is a consummate mine builder. Derek will guide the World Copper team in taking Zonia down the path to production. Joe Philips brings a wealth of mine building experience having lead construction on 14 mining operations in 11 different counties. His upgrading and expansion of the SX-EW plant for Tres Valles in Chile will be of particular importance to our Zonia development process.
Our seasoned team are looking to put the asset into production within 3 to 5 years and at a quarter of the costs of conventional concentrate operations. Zonia is uniquely positioned with a strategic location in Arizona allowing it to supply the domestic US refined copper market, which is currently in dire need for US-manufactured cathodes, Zonia has the potential to become a net-zero facility benefiting from low energy consumption, favorable energy mix and emission compensation returns.
World Copper has adopted a two-phase plan to move the Zonia project down the production track. Phase one would target only the portion of the project located on private land. Phase two will target copper mineralization located on non-private land so that it could be permitted for future inclusion into the anticipated mine plan. To satisfy the parameters of a bankable feasibility study Phase one will move to convert a major portion of the inferred resources in from the PEA to indicated resources. This will most likely entail an infill drilling campaign. Other Phase one programs will include environmental studies, land and water use permits, metallurgical studies, mine planning, engineering, financing modelling and construction planning.
Phase two programs will comprise primarily of permitting the BLM land (non-private) that surrounds the Zonia private land, environmental studies, and some exploration drilling. Our BLM lands are 3 times the size of our private land package and have the potential to increase our copper resource exponentially. These phase two programs will be initiated in parallel with the phase one activity as the timeline to receiving exploration and mining permits for these areas are longer.
Zonia's historical preliminary economic assessment (PEA) in 2018 concluded that the economics of the project are excellent and gives World Copper the assurance to advance the project through feasibility. The historical PEA outlines an open-pit, copper-oxide heap leach project with a 9-year mine life and favourable economics. The base case uses a $2.00/lb designed pit shell with a grade cutoff of 0.17% total copper. The PEA was prepared by Global Resource Engineering Ltd. ("GRE") of Denver, Colorado, in accordance with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) NI 43-101. GRE reported on the scoping-level capital and operating costs, and project economics associated with the potential development of the Zonia copper oxide project. The full report entitled "Preliminary Economic Assessment, NI 43-101 Technical Report Zonia Copper Project Yavapai County, Arizona, USA" with an Effective Date of March 22, 2018, and an Issue Date of April 17, 2018, is available on SEDAR+ or can be downloaded using this link.
The preliminary economic assessment is preliminary in nature and includes inferred mineral resources that are considered too speculative geologically to have the economic considerations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as mineral reserves; there is no certainty that the preliminary economic assessment will be realized.
The updated mineral resource estimate for Zonia (see news release dated February 23, 2023), includes 75.7 million short tons grading 0.30% total-copper (Indicated Resources) containing 450.5 million pounds of copper and 122.0 million short tons grading 0.24% total-copper (Inferred Resources) containing 575.4 million pounds of copper, which is a significant expansion of the historical resource estimate.
Further information on Zonia's updated resource estimated can be found in the technical report entitled "National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report: Updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Zonia Copper Project Yavapai County, Arizona USA" dated December 20, 2022 and dated effective September 1, 2022. Mineral Resources are not Mineral Reserves and do not have demonstrated economic viability. Inferred Mineral Resources are that part of the Mineral Resource for which quantity and grade, or quality, are estimated based on limited geologic evidence and sampling, which is sufficient to imply but not verify grade or quality continuity. Inferred Mineral Resources may not be converted to Mineral Reserves. It is reasonably expected, though not guaranteed, that the majority of Inferred Mineral Resources could be upgraded to Indicated Mineral Resources with continued exploration.
The Company is also currently reviewing additional assets in the United States. The United States has declared copper a critical metal, and it is a consistently mining friendly jurisdiction. 4 US states were listed in the top 10 most attractive jurisdictions globally by Fraser Institute (that included Arizona with rank #7). Both the Department of Energy and the Department of defence have created funding programs for copper and other critical metals. By shifting focus to US copper markets World Copper will have a new captive and supportive potential pool of interest.
Escalones Project Update
Escalones remains the largest undeveloped copper oxide deposit in Chile and is one of the most desirable copper projects in the sector. Further drilling at Escalones is needed in order to advance the project, and this drilling will also assist in de-risking Escalones. The Company is currently in discussions with the Chilean authorities for drilling permits and to better understand the next steps in formalizing the directives under the new sanctuary of nature established by presidential decree (see news release dated January 23, 2024).
Loan Extension
The Company has also, subject to TSX Venture Exchange ("TSXV") acceptance, entered into a loan extension agreement (the "Extension Agreement") made as of May 18, 2024 with E.L. II Properties Trust (the "Lender") for loans assumed by World Copper in connection with the merger with Cardero Resource Corp. by plan of arrangement in January 2022 in the aggregate amount of CAD $1,958,019.88 (based on a CAD - USD exchange rate of 1.3570 as of February 29, 2024) (the "Loans"). Pursuant to the Extension Agreement, the Loans will bear interest at a rate of 8% per annum compounded quarterly, and the due dates for the Loans will be extended by two years.
The Company has agreed to issue the Lender in aggregate 6,419,737 non-transferable bonus common share purchase warrants (each, a "Bonus Warrant"), each exercisable to purchase one common share of the Company at an exercise price of CAD $0.305 per share for a period of two years, subject to acceptance by the TSXV. All securities issued pursuant to the Loans will be subject to a hold period of four months and one day in Canada from the date of issuance.
As the Lender is a trust owned and controlled by Robert Kopple, who is a director of the Company, the transaction constitutes a related party transaction pursuant to Multilateral Instrument 61 101 - Protection of Minority Security Holders in Special Transactions ("MI 61-101"). The Company is relying on Sections 5.5(a) and 5.7(1)(a) of MI 61-101 for an exemption from the formal valuation and minority shareholder approval requirements, respectively, of MI 61-101, as, at the time the Extension Agreement was entered into by the Company with the Lender, neither the fair market value of the subject matter of, nor the fair market value of the transaction exceeded 25% of the Company's market capitalization.
Strategic Marketing Agreement
The Company also announces that, subject to TSX Venture Exchange acceptance, it has entered into an consulting agreement with Upcountry Strategy Ltd. ("Upcountry") of Cobble Hill, BC, whereby Upcountry will provide advice to the Company's board of directors and senior management on public company administration, the development and implementation of a marketing strategy for the Company and the review of potential strategic opportunities. The term of the agreement with Upcountry is for six months, effective May 2, 2024, and may be terminated at any time, by either party, with 30 days written notice. Upcountry will receive a consulting fee of USD$600,000 to be paid over 90 days. As of the date hereof, to the Company's knowledge, Upcountry (including its directors and officers) does not own any securities of the Company and has an arm's length relationship with the Company.

2024.05.21 23:51 Visual_Interview_579 Dating after ending a long term relationship.

I recently ended my LTR three months ago. He was the only man I've been in a serious relationship with.
Two months after I ended my ltr, I begrudgingly went on a date with a gentleman who was aggressively pursuing me at my job. He was extremely intelligent and seemed very romantic. This was encouraged by my good friends but he ended up being a slightly odd individual.
He said he couldn't date someone out of a ltr (even though I disclosed my ltr ending before we started hanging out and told him I personally wasnt ready for any actual bf/gf relationship yet) so I decided it was best to end things before they progressed any further.
Long story short, I've already been dating and it feels good to experience how others live and think, but I'm hesitant to start any actual dating websites because I don't want to hurt/devastate my ex when he finds out.
So my big dilemma is should I start some dating profiles or wait a few more months for him to also move on?
(Also my ex requested that I tell him if I'm talking to other men "out of respect for him".)
Any and all advice from men and women appreciated!

2024.05.21 23:50 DepartmentEcstatic Someone starting out solo in web design was wanting to design 15 websites?

Hi all,
About a month ago someone posted about wanting to design, I believe it was, 15 websites free of charge here to get their new business started. They deleted the post before I could message them directly and I just wanted to say if this person is reading this, I would like to talk to you about designs, and I'm not looking to get in on the free design. It sounded like this person was very experienced and also excited to start out on their own and that's the type of individual that I would really like to talk to about my project. Thanks for reading and I hope I can find you!
Otherwise, if anyone has other recommendations for others I should consider for web/logo/business designs, please let me know.

2024.05.21 23:48 Park8706 Being asked to take over doing the "technical" side of our website.

I work IT support at a small company. Everything from printers to server maintenance. Today my bosses ask me to take over the technical side of our websites while the web developer focuses on doing graphics.
I have zero experience in any time of web designing outside of a basic HTML class in college four years ago. I explained this to them but they basically just said I can just learn it which is true but I have other duties and was trying to study in my off time for certifications.
I have no desire to be a developer of any sort long-term. My first question is how much should I ask for in a raise since they are dumping a second role into my lap?
The next question is how big of a pain is it going to be for me to learn this on the fly?

2024.05.21 23:45 fuzzy_cam I just signed up for this service yesterday... coincidentally (I'm thinking not) all of my personal finance accounts have had attempted logins from outside of the country.

Just a PSA. Not sure I'm really looking for any feedback, but it's welcome.
I was after a service more focused on tracking assets and net worth vs. other apps that are primarily budget-focused. After consulting Chat GPT on some options, I landed on Personal Capital so I went for it. Signed up, entered all of my info last night, and linked multiple accounts - including my Apple Card - and all of a sudden this morning I got back-to-back sign-in requests on my iPhone for my Apple ID from NSW, Australia. I'm in the US. I immediately thought PC or its bank data aggregation app (I don't recall which one it is) had been compromised. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Plaid.
I immediately changed my Apple ID password and signed out of all active sessions. Changed all my other accounts that were entered into PC. Ensured 2FA was active on everything, which it is. After that, got a notification from Capital One. After that, notification from my primary bank. My primary bank login's username is something so off-the-wall that now it's clear that all of the information I entered into their site was compromised and intercepted. I would only get a notification from any of these places if someone had the correct username. Only would get the Apple ID notification if someone had my username and correct password!
It was also strange that when I went to log into PC after this started taking place, the website was seriously slow. I was attempting to delete the account connections and delete my account with their service entirely. It took logging out a few times before I was able to accomplish this. The first attempt at deleting the account prompted a "There's a technical issue we're aware of, our team is working on it" message.
I called Empower to inquire about any Cyber events taking place. Fella denied anything and really acted like he didn't care about the issue since I didn't even have an account with Empower, nor did I feel it necessary or want to identify myself given current events. After a few minutes on hold, he provided me with a phone number directly for the department that manages the Personal Capital division. I called that line once and someone answered and immediately hung up. Called 4 more times and no one would answer - even more suspicious to me.
I do most of my online banking etc. behind secure enterprise firewalls. I have enough IT knowledge and background to get myself in trouble, but I'm certain enough to know that my computers aren't infected with anything, and firewalls on the networks I'm behind haven't had any strange connections picked up or blocked and logged. Just adding this because it's likely someone will think along the same lines I have.

2024.05.21 23:45 ah52 Switching from Student to Skilled Worker for a PhD internship

Hi everyone! I would appreciate your advice on switching from a Student Visa to a Skilled Worker Visa for a PhD internship.
I am a Canadian national pursuing a PhD degree at a UK University. I am currently in the second year of my programme. I recently got an internship opportunity which fulfils the eligibility requirements and also provides sponsorship. This internship is rather long (6 months) and not appropriate as a "placement" job (hence I cannot stay on my current Tier 4 student visa during this internship). It is not uncommon for students in my programme to suspend their studies and pursue a relevant job or internship. However, the visa situation seems tricky in my case.
According to the website, to switch from a student visa to a skilled worker visa, one of the following requirements must be met
The third situation is the closest applicable to me. The tricky part is: although this condition can be met by the time I start my job, it is not met at the time of visa application. How exactly is the 24-month period defined?
Aside from that,
Thank you very much! for your help.

2024.05.21 23:45 andr3aleighroy Any Apps for Budgeting?

I am wanting to find an app or website or maybe even a book to help with budgeting and watching my finances. I want to build my credit in the next 3 years so that I can get a bigger home to grow my family in. I need something that isn't too difficult to understand because I have never really budgeted or paid attention to money before. I've hear rocket money was a good starter point but looking for other or better options. Or is that too much to ask?
