MAGICKAL INFLUENCES AND PRINCIPLES OF HERMETICISM #Astrology #HermeticMagick #HermeticQabalah #Kabbalah #Qabalah
Hermeticism means religious and spiritual movement that took place after the Greek victory of Egypt lead by Alexander the Great in 332 BCE. Hermeticism is a term that frequents historical, occult and scholarly texts of all sorts.
In a nutshell, the Hermetic movement was a culturally mixed rejoinder to the syncretism of spiritual practices of the day, particularly the ancient Greco-Roman as well as the Egyptian religious systems. Cosmologies, philosophies and magickal practices from the mentioned systems and other blended and mingled, finally forming a unique drift of thought and practice. Actually, Hermeticism is not a “religion” by general definition but is better known as a spiritual and philosophical movement.
It is improbable to study the development of mysticism and magic in the Western world without some knowledge of Hermeticism. That is exactly why Pagans, Witches, magicians and occultists can hugely benefit from understanding a bit of the history. Ultimately, it is part of our own holy lineage!
The hermetic element includes astrology, alchemy, astronomy, spellcraft, natural magick, mystical philosophy, planetary magick, elemental magick as well as the metaphysical correspondences of incenses, herbs, gemstones, animals, days of the week, and body parts. Many occult and religious movements came up and kept growing, from Hermetic soil and practically all magickal ways have been affected to some extent by Hermeticism.

The Hermetic Threads

  • The Cosmic Egg
There are various curious odd crossovers and relationships between Greco-Roman culture, the traditional Jewish Kabbalah and the ancient Egyptian culture. For beginners, the symbolism of the Cosmic Egg exists in Greek mythology just like the Orphic Egg. The Greek myth is that the entire universe was birthed just from a silver egg. The egg is always portrayed with a serpent well coiled around it. Due to Egypt’s enormous impact on the Western world, it is quite probable that the Greeks borrowed this symbolism from the Egyptian story of creation.
In case the yolk of the Cosmic Egg is completely Positive (evident) Presence, its white or albumen, is similar to the Areas of negative being in the Kabbalistic sense.
The Tarot
Most occultists hold that the tarot has made its route to Europe from India as they came from Egypt. The studious consent is that the tarot was founded in Italy early 15th Century by the secretary to Filippo Maria Visconti (Marziano da Tortona). Nevertheless, a likely early Egyptian model for the cards, or at least some of their thoughts, has been proposed.
The Caduceus
Both Hermes and the Hermes Trismegistus are described as having the caduceus wand. Basically, the caduceus is a symbol that was used in ancient Greco-Roman advancement. It is described as a wand bearing a Ketheric light, wings at its top, as well as two snakes, are well curled around the rod. This snake imagery is comparable to the Vedic idea of the kundalini, which is a force of the human energy system expressed as serpents rising around the spine right from the base chakra and to the crown chakra. It is known that the esoteric education of kundalini is most widespread in Shakta Tantric schools of Hinduism.
Seven Principles of Hermeticism.
The seven principles of Hermeticism as known in new Hermetic thought are of critical concern to the spiritual practitioner due to their weight on the mind, body and spirit relationship.
Readers used to the contemporary witchcraft and other magickal practices are likely to appreciate esoteric crossovers in their own philosophical structure. The principles discussed, are quite fit for magickal lives and anyone adopting an emotionally inspired spiritual system.

1. The Principle of Mentalism
All things in actuality and physical being originate from the mental plane. Usually, the mind of humans is a representation of the supreme mind and is the root of all psychic and rational power. The only important thing, in actuality, is the mind- from which everything in existence derives.
With time, try actively changing your state of mind to understand how much your personal experience improves. This existential practice needs a lot of perseverance and a lot of practice; however, it can surely help us appreciate the power of thought.
2. The Principle of Correspondence
The principle states that as above, so below; as below, so above. This implies that existence is sustained through similar forces, being the source of spiritual mystery. The principles of one thing match with the principles of a different thing meaning that reality works just like a mirror.
How should you put this into practice?
Get to YouTube and try to watch some videos regarding the cosmos. Have a great time examining the universe, leaving to instill that natural sense of surprise we usually feel like kids. Later, study videos regarding quantum and atoms mechanics. Take into account how the Great above compares with the Great Below. With this, the incredible accomplishments might amaze you!
3. The Principle of Vibration
In reality, nothing is physically constant. Everything is vibrating or is a pattern of energy. Since nothing is fixed or static, the only constant changes. Everything is a sign of the Great Mind and the vibration is the basis that anything can live as its “own” separate thing (a river, a book, a thought, etc.) rather than remaining one.
To actualize this, get an old chipped cup, vase or plate that is no longer used. With the use of paint or a permanent marker, take the object and outline some of the magickal figures listed here. When you are set, go somewhere that you can release the object, enabling it to shatter. Once it is shattered, do some divination by checking the pieces to find out whether they form any symbol that is psychologically significant to you individually. In addition, think of the reality of transformation as the only constant in existence.

4. The Principle of Polarity
In this context, it is known that reality is duality. Just like the principle yin and yang (Taoist principle), this states that everything has its corresponding opposite though is a section of the same unity. Due to the fact that all of existence is polarized, both antithesis and thesis (one thing and its absolute opposite) are concurrently true and untrue— this is a global paradox that levels thoughts of absolutes in any sphere of life.
To put this into practice, you should study with a local college or school concerning public debates you may be capable of attending. Contrarily, check some debates online that you may personally feel an unbiased emotional response. Regardless of the type of debate, try to understand each party’s conflicting viewpoints. Is it likely that each party can be both wrong and right concurrently?
5. The Principle of Rhythm
Some occurrences like action and reaction, the ascent and descent of the tide of the sea as well as the life cycle of birth and the ultimate death account for the principle of rhythm. It insists that nothing ever lives as one of its polarities though it is always varying. Understanding this, an individual can consciously decide not to fall to one ultimate or another in any field of life.
To put this into practice, you need to test the elements. The responsive souls incarnated in a humans frame, we are just at the grace of the elements surrounding us. We need to always be balanced to keep a footing in life. Think of what it would seem or feel to run your finger fast through a candle flame for the sake of finding a threshold for some amount of pain. Also, imagine the methods we human beings harness electricity and fire to improve our lives, and how we need to keep a balance before it turns out as a force that can catch us. Be creative by rehearsing with your thresholds encompassing the components water, air, and earth—simply be careful!
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect
The principle states that nothing happens by chance; everything takes place because of something else. You can either decide to act as a social chess piece for others’ desires, whims, conditionings and norms or one can decide to both take power over and individualize their own thoughts, bodies, emotions, actions and experiences.
Here, you need to strategically rest in a sacred place and imagine about various seasons in your life where you may have “committed” some energy and could still be connected by an astral string that cuts through space and time. With the use of any suitable magickal tools, sever any hurtful energetic cordages from your body. Imagine them reverting to their individual space-time with a prominent blast of light and supply your body with this universal light as you deal with each connection. Go easy on yourself and remember that healing is a lifetime path.
7. The Principle of Gender
In reality, everything is a combination of feminine and masculine. The two forces occur separately or as an absolute. Everyone or everything is a blend of feminine and masculine energies instead of being one or the other, and its exhibition on the natural plane is individual’s biological sex- which can always be male, female or something in between.
Put this into practice by researching about typical gender expressions. Examine how various cultures throughout time have recognized non-cis-gendered groups, in both old and recent times. You can even choose to experiment with some cross-dressing to find out how it influences you spiritually and psychologically.

2024.05.21 17:19 ninetofivehangover Levi / Hollow Essay

Hey guys :)
Working on an essay comparing the two and looking for feedback / suggestions. Really needs a few waves of editing and isn't finished but I'm pretty happy with how the last two hours of work turned out.
Again this is a ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH draft compiled from several notes.
Humanity and Nature: An Analysis and Reflection on The Duality Scavenger’s Reign
**Hollow:**
Scavenger’s Reign showcases how humans, when altering an ecosystem, can become dangerous parasites—an invasive species that disrupts the natural balance developed through millennia of evolution. Humans pose significant dangers to new ecosystems through various activities and behaviors that upset natural balances and lead to adverse environmental impacts. Even without technology and resources, humans can perpetuate disorder merely by existing. On the new alien planet, humans immediately cause dangerous changes, acting as an invasive species.
This relationship is vividly depicted in the interactions between Kamen and Hollow. In Scavenger’s Reign, all chaos and violence stem directly from human actions. The Hollow, for example, exists naturally as a small, fruit-eating creature, similar to a rabbit. Though it uses mind control to obtain food, it is not initially violent. Its manipulation is out of necessity. However, when Hollow forms a psychic connection with Kamen, who begins feeding it meat, the Hollow slowly becomes corrupted. Humanity's malicious nature contaminates the entire ecosystem, with Kamen’s greed, violence, and resentment adulterating the behavior of a previously docile animal.
Explaining exactly how Kamen corrupts the Hollow involves analyzing his cognizance during their interactions. Hollow and Kamen share a mindscape filled with scenes of failure, resentment, and self-hatred. In episode three, Kamen retrieves fruit for Hollow but fails miserably. A monkey takes the fruit he reaches for, and Kamen falls from a tree, saved again by the Hollow. Angrily, Kamen strikes the monkey with a rock, finally capturing the fruit. The pleased Hollow munches the fruit before Kamen drops the monkey’s corpse in front of it. Unsure what to do, the Hollow begins to consume the meat, which is outside its normal diet.
In episode four, Kamen hunts larger animals. He is seen violently bludgeoning a dinosaur-like creature before being attacked by an even larger one. Kamen, weak and fragile, retreats defeated. Back in their cave, Hollow’s den is revealed to be a hole of rotting carcasses—death, flies, and decaying meat. When Kamen returns empty-handed, he apologizes. Hollow shows him a memory of Fiona, highlighting Kamen’s disappointment, mirroring how he has just disappointed Hollow. This scene illustrates how Hollow manipulates and communicates with Kamen through emotional sentiments.
This relationship, however, is not one-way. Kamen’s negative human traits seep into the Hollow, creating a feedback loop of hatred and violence, particularly towards other humans whom Kamen feels have wronged him. When Kamen admits the creature was “too big for him,” Hollow shows a flashback of Kamen begging for a route change. Sam’s refusal and aggression fuel Kamen’s failure and resentment. Motivated by these memories, Kamen sharpens a spear and attacks the larger creature, paralleling his confrontation with Sam. Hollow finishes the dinosaur, showering Kamen in gore. Kamen, proud and laughing, screams: “Fuck you, Sam.”
This scene demonstrates the complete adulteration of Hollow, directly linking Kamen’s negative traits to Hollow’s transformation. Hollow shifts from a vegetarian, monkey-like creature to a violent force—a killing machine obsessed with feeding and power, driven by anger and hunger. This transformation is highlighted in the next episode's intro, where a new human escapes a cryopod and is hunted through Vespa’s jungle. Upon finding Kamen, the human is relieved but is immediately killed by Hollow, who snaps his neck. The Hollow’s nature has been entirely corrupted, motivated only by hunger and hatred.
We can then question the Hollow's potential. What if Hollow had encountered Ursula or Sam? Could Hollow form a connection with a higher sentience without becoming corrupted, or is this violent change inevitable? Is human intervention always a plague?
PARAGRAPH ABOUT KAMEN BEING ABSORBED: Azi has a flashback of seeing the girl who gabe her the notebook in a cryo chamber, asleep. Red alarms clash. Sam ushers people to flee the ship - this is amidst the solar flare. Sam recuses to let Kamen on an escape pod, throwing him yo the floor abd calling him a fucking idiot. Azi throws him a side eye too. The ship is crumbling. -> It transitions to Kamen on Vespa. Hollow is fucking HUGE and murders the new guy in front of Kamen, afraid the newbie would distract Kamen. Kamen questions his actions after the death, remembering the ship. The potentialiTy of Fiona being alive. -> flashback to Kamen running to a pod and closing it. Fiona approaches the window, asking to be let in. Kamen fails to let her in before the pod shoots offz -> flashout, Kamen remembers she is dead. He weeps, taking guilt. Asking why he ran away, confronting his character flaws. Refusing to acknowledge his failures, Kamen is absorbed into the Hollow, who grants him peace within its body.
Levi:
In “Scavenger’s Reign,” Levi’s journey takes a profound turn as she merges with the planet’s consciousness, evolving beyond mere sentience and becoming one with nature. After being obliterated and repaired, Levi returns, wielding the history of millennia, drawing a near parallel to Nausicaä. Both characters serve as mediators between humanity and nature. In the beginning of the show, scenes hint at a collective planetary consciousness that Levi taps into, witnessing bioluminescent insects that seem to communicate with her and the planet. As Levi merges with this consciousness, she transcends the human concept of sentience and individuality, gaining the knowledge and emotions of an intricate web of life and energy that sustains Planet Vespa. This new state allows Levi to exist in perfect harmony with the natural world, becoming an integral part of the unified whole.
In episode one, we are introduced to Levi as an inherently curious creature. Levi and Azi have a flourishing garden. Levi mentions “malfunctions” that caused her to bury Azi’s wrench out of “curiosity.” Her hatch opens to reveal a sort of fungus she says is “helping her.” Azi is afraid of her behavior and demands to run a diagnostic. The dynamic between Levi and Azi is that of boss and underling, with Levi treated somewhat coldly. Levi states Azi is “acting meaner.” This fungus is later understood as a medium for the collective planetary consciousness, with Levi merging slowly.
In episode two, Levi constantly marvels at the environment, feeling a deep connection to nature. During a storm, Levi shows Azi into a large structure. Azi asks how she knows it’s safe, and inside, they find an Eden-like safe haven, which is beautiful. Azi says Levi must have known this area, and Levi admits she has been exploring at night out of curiosity and wonder. Azi finds a sculpture made by Levi and asks why she made it. “I just thought it looked nice,” Levi replies. Azi remarks that no other Levi has ever behaved like this and demands to open her maintenance hatch. These projects are botany-based. Azi goes to eat fruit Levi grew, but Levi warns, “I’m sorry this isn’t safe for humans to eat.” “Then why did you grow it?” Azi asks. “Maybe it wasn’t for you,” Levi responds, highlighting Azi’s expectation that all Levi's exist solely for their creators' benefit.
In later episodes, we see the fungus inside Levi expanding and its connection to Levi’s relationship with Planet Vespa. In episode four, Levi watches a pile of ants closely, picking one up and communicating with it using bioluminescent lights. She gives it food and sets it on its way, showing how Levi is tuning into the planet on both micro and macro scales. This annoys Azi, as observing insects is not beneficial to her. A flashback shows Levi being “fixed” when she doesn’t work, illustrating how Azi treats her like a tool. The two embark on a bike ride, and Levi is seen communicating with a large swarm of insects. They approach a river, and Azi pulls a large grub off Levi, commenting that they are “more active than usual.” Levi remarks she can feel tremors, which are soon revealed to be caused by a large herd of creatures stampeding. The two are caught in the stampede, and Levi catches onto a language of sorts by the creatures, dictating their movement pattern, and begins to instruct Azi on “following the sway of the herd.” After getting used to the movements, Azi revels in the majestic experience Levi has been attuned to, being at one with the herd and the planet. The stampede leads to a large nest and then an open plain.
In her quest for cognizance, Levi begins to dream. Episode five opens with Levi wandering through a golden forest, observing various gentle forms of life before being instructed to follow Azi. Levi notices a white lotus, and the two wander the woods. Tendrils of plants grasp at Levi, seemingly wanting her to stay in the forest. Levi looks down and sees hands of flesh. Azi says she’s been acting “so strange” in an ominous tone. Levi awakens, and Azi demands her help. Levi sees her regular robotic hands and realizes she is evolving. Levi is cleaning Azi’s hair with a knife, and Azi offers to return the favor, telling Levi to open her hatch. Levi seems apprehensive, aware the mold is helping her evolve and that Azi is not a fan. Azi opens Levi’s hatch and notices she flinches as the mold is touched. The mold has opened Levi’s mind, allowing her to feel physical sensations and consciously view the world. Levi is developing sentience beyond apathetically taking orders. A scared Levi says she doesn’t like how scraping the mold feels, and Azi pets her, both remarking that it feels good. They argue over whether Levi “should feel anything,” with Azi viewing this as a problem since she needs to trust Levi to survive. Levi is shut off. While Levi is shut off, Azi is hit with fluffy balls that stick to her. She’s overwhelmed and barely able to move when she sees a horde of plant matter-covered creatures approaching. Azi crawls to Levi and turns her on. As the creature approaches, Levi regains consciousness and destroys it. Levi apologizes for not helping due to being turned off, and Azi admits Levi saved her. Levi states she doesn't want to be shut off, ever, expressing her fear of death.
Our duo are traveling across beautiful plains on their bike. Azi is covered in festering wounds from the bulbs. Residual material is embedded in her skin. Azi dips a bloody shirt into a shallow pond, and fish-like creatures come to eat the dead flesh. She dips her hand in, and they clean her wounds. A large water basin looms in the background, which they approach. Azi ascends the stone structure, reminiscent of something out of a Ghibli film. Azi begins to appreciate the beauty of Vespa, with a light string instrumental crescendoing as she submerges herself in the cool water, trusting the creatures to heal her. On the ground, Levi communicates with a small bug. Azi is healed and questions Levi’s evolution, suggesting she should be “more delicate.” Levi ponders her ability to “join her for a swim.” The two marvel at the evolutionary strangeness, with Levi acknowledged as an equal.
Levi's fear of death soon becomes a reality. Levi and Azi are pushing the bike to obtain its cable to use to cross a giant gorge. Levi writes a song and expresses a wish to pursue her hobbies, such as singing, at a place on the Demeter. Levi and Azi discuss Fiona, the person who programmed Levi, with Levi feeling close to her. Azi compliments Levi’s singing and urges her to continue pursuing her ambitions. The two successfully tether the bike cable across the gorge, but Hollow is seen scouring the edge. As they grapple across, singing the melody from Fiona’s memory, Hollow recognizes the tune and becomes enraged. Hollow scales the cord towards them, and the cord breaks, slamming all three into the side of the cliff. Azi urges Levi to climb. Azi reaches the top first, followed by Levi, but Hollow catches Levi’s legs with telekinesis. “Help me…” Levi says, but a memory of Kamen and Fiona kissing causes Azi to charge Hollow with a spear. As she approaches, Levi is split in two, shattered into minuscule bolts and scraps of metal that rain down over the cliff edge. Azi screams after her, a tear rolling down her cheek. Her partner, a growing consciousness much like an innocent child discovering the sand of a beach and the glory of nature, is murdered.

2024.05.21 16:33 coggler_again [FO] Pillow for my Grandma!

[FO] Pillow for my Grandma!
TW death of a grandparent.
So my grandma is very very very religious and I’ve never heard her swear in my life. We were really close when I was a kid and teen, and I saw her weekly until she moved away.
There’s a whole story involved here that’s TMI but the important part is that it ended with my grandma grumbling “karma is a bitch” in a hospital bed after being told she has a week to live.
I joked with my mom that someone should make that into a cute cross stitch and she laughed and told my grandma.
Apparently this went over BIG with my grandma and she laughed HARD despite being in pretty bad pain. Soooo I told her I’d actually do it. She got so excited that she gave my mom a list of people to call and tell about this cross stitch.
So I drafted one up and made this in a day and am now flying halfway across the country to give it to her!
tl/dr: My grandmas death wish is for me to cross stitch “karma is a bitch” for her.
Text is self-drafted, but the flower border is a pattern from NeedfulStringsShoppe.

2024.05.21 16:28 Ok_Marzipan_4045 Question about playing jazz from a guitar player

Hi I’ve been asking some questions about the nature of improvising on guitar in the jazzguitar subreddit regarding memorising notes on the fretboard and within scales, against remembering patterns and shapes to form chords and play scales. Meaning that for example, to play C major (also a bit mystified by your notes being different ((b flat)) from the bottom string there is a pattern formed by playing a couple/few notes each string making up octaves. That pattern can then be used starting on any other root note to play a major scale in the key of that root note. Similarly with held chords. Knowing these patterns and shapes makes playing/improvising at speed viable without having to “think” note by note. I’m wondering how it works with trumpet? I have a rudimentary understanding of notes being created by lip vibration(?) and valves; valve slides not so much. Is there an equivalent way of “thinking” when improvising on trumpet? Or must you be able to quickly “think” note by note? For example playing 16th notes at 200bpm how do you ensure you hit notes in pitch, key, and chord at such a tempo? I hope that makes sense, I’m very interested to know.

2024.05.21 14:32 sattaaking786 Essential Strategies for Black Satta King Players

In the world of Black Satta King, success doesn't come easy. It's a game of strategy, wit, and perseverance. To rise above the competition and claim your throne, you need more than just luck on your side. You need a comprehensive understanding of the game and a set of winning strategies to guide your every move. In this guide, we delve deep into the essential strategies that every Black Satta King player must know to conquer the game.

Understanding the Basics

Before diving into advanced strategies, it's crucial to grasp the fundamentals of Black Satta King. At its core, Black Satta King is a game of chance where players bet on numbers between 00 and 99. The winning number is drawn at random, and players who correctly guess the number receive a payout. While luck plays a significant role in the outcome, seasoned players understand that strategic gameplay can tilt the odds in their favor.

Mastering Risk Management

One of the key strategies for success in Black Satta King is effective risk management. As with any form of gambling, there's always a risk of losing money. However, by carefully managing your bets and bankroll, you can minimize losses and maximize profits. A common tactic employed by experienced players is to diversify their bets across multiple numbers to spread risk. Additionally, setting strict limits on the amount you're willing to bet and sticking to them is essential for long-term success.

Analyzing Patterns and Trends

In the world of Black Satta King, patterns and trends often emerge from the chaos. By analyzing past results and identifying recurring patterns, players can gain valuable insights that inform their betting decisions. Some players prefer to rely on statistical analysis and probability theory to identify potential winning numbers, while others trust their intuition and gut feeling. Whichever approach you choose, paying close attention to patterns and trends can give you a competitive edge in the game.

Leveraging Technology

In today's digital age, technology has revolutionized the way we play and approach Black Satta King. From online betting platforms to mobile apps that provide real-time updates and analysis, players now have access to a wealth of tools and resources at their fingertips. Leveraging technology can streamline your gameplay, allowing you to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently. Whether it's tracking results, studying trends, or placing bets on the go, embracing technology can enhance your overall gaming experience.

Staying Disciplined

Perhaps the most underrated yet critical strategy for success in Black Satta King is discipline. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the game and make impulsive decisions based on emotion rather than logic. However, disciplined players understand the importance of sticking to their strategy and remaining level-headed, even in the face of adversity. Whether you're on a winning streak or facing a string of losses, maintaining discipline is essential for long-term success in the game.

Conclusion

In conclusion, mastering Black Satta King requires a combination of skill, strategy, and discipline. By understanding the fundamentals of the game, mastering risk management, analyzing patterns and trends, leveraging technology, and staying disciplined, players can increase their chances of success and come out on top. While luck will always play a role, it's the strategic decisions you make that will ultimately determine your fate in the game.

2024.05.21 08:40 Glittering-Two-3753 i think my (20f) new boyfriend (23m) is too attractive/good of a person for me and it’s making me want to detach from him

more a rant post than asking for any advice. i’ve only been in one serious relationship before this, it was like 2.5years during highschool and the things my ex did/said to me and what his new gf ended up doing to me for the entire year after we broke up REALLY fucked me up. that was almost 3 years ago and since then i’ve mostly been on a long string of hookups/situationships and a few month-long relationships that i ended up ruining very fast because of how bad my triggers were. i’ve done 2 different long term IOPs since then and was also hospitalized for a week last year, so in general i’ve gotten a lot better at coping but i still didn’t feel i was ready for a relationship.
about 2 months ago i started talking to this guy on hinge and we met up for a date less than a week after. since then we’ve gone on a decent amount of other dates and he’s also hung out at my place a few times. this is the first time i haven’t gotten obsessed with a new partner and i think if things keep going well this could definitely be a long term thing, but last night he officially told me he thinks of me as his girlfriend and it’s really freaking me out now.
my main problem is i think he’s too good for me in every way. he’s the sweetest guy i’ve ever been with, opens car doors for me every time, texts me goodnight every night, buys me chocolate, always wants to pay, all of the things that turned me off in the past but with him i find it so sweet, but i don’t think i deserve all of that. he’s on a good path too, works in a trade making decent money and is looking to get his own place (he was living on his own before but had to move back with family after a breakup), he doesn’t really drink or do drugs either, he just seems like a really successful guy. meanwhile i’ve dropped out of college twice and i’m working a dead-end job that i’ll probably lose in the next few years because they’re starting to integrate more automated systems. on top of all of that i think hes wayyyyyy too attractive for me. tall, fairly fit, and with all of the features to make him exactly my type. on the other hand, i’ve always been really insecure because i have a very crooked nose, recently found out i have female-pattern hair loss, and most pressing is the fact that i’ve gained about 40lbs in the last year (i was working a job where i was getting over 20,000 steps a day and now i’m in the same spot for 8 hours straight) and currently can’t fit in most of my clothes.
idk, i like him so much so far but him calling me his girlfriend last night switched something for some reason, i can feel myself starting to rationalize pushing him away. hes everything i’ve ever wanted so far and i don’t think i deserve it/am afraid he’s going to realize he’s too good for me and leave. just had to get this out there because i don’t think any of my friends would understand this if i tried to explain it to them. i have more to say but i’m typing this on my phone and it’s starting to get laggy from too much text.

The fruits of my first kandi sesh + massive phrase list

The normal sized beads and pony beads are from my mom's craft stuff that she hasn't used in years, and the teeny tiny beads and letter beads are from my meager stash!
Go Piss Girl was my first one ever, I want to restring it with some quirky yellow beads I found. I went through my entire bag of letter beads to find the grungiest ones.
Hello Kitty was fun, I tried it on my own and then watched a tutorial because I couldn't figure it out. The weed leaf is made with iridescent green beads, I think they're 12mm because they feel bigger than normal pony beads. I used the same ones to make the alien charm, which I designed myself and is now hanging from my rear view mirror! The charm is kinda bent because the black beads are smaller than the green ones, but I still tried to tug it pretty tight.
The Patrick star is a gift for my best friend, I was inspired by someone else on here. (Quick note: Inner star is 5 pink for body, 5 green for pants. Making this is easier of you lay out your beads first)
Bisexy Babe was an excuse to try my hand at something I saw on here, I saw someone make the little flag and I couldn't resist. It's so small that the ladder stitch flops sometimes, and my beads being different sizes doesn't help. I still love it :)
Cinephile was an experiment, I'm fully aware that I'll look like a FiLm bRo if I wear it out but it reminded me of a film reel, what can you do. So I have these absolutely miniscule glass beads from a cheapy Walmart set, and after struggling to even get the string through them I put some clear beads over them. It makes a nice sound and I think it looks kinda cool.
For Repo Man, I used the same technique in one place. I used a few tiny beads that would slip through the bigger opening of a normal pony bead, so I put a black glass bead to keep the small beads in place and then put a black pony bead over it. I really like the result! (And I found out I can't make random bracelets to save my life, all the beads on this one are very strategically placed because of their sizes and shapes and how I wanted the colors to look.) It's not a particularly sneaky reference but I still want to know who gets it 👀
Eep I'm afraid to cut the strings off of some of them because I haven't put clear nail polish on the knot yet. And I already know that elastic string isn't the best, but it's what I had on hand and I'm trying to blast through it so I don't just throw it away.
NOW FOR THE PHRASE LIST PART: I've seen lists on here and screenshots of people's lists from their notes apps, and I started gathering all my ideas into one place too. I was using a part of one of my Notion pages, but that just got too unruly. And I always had the idea for a spreadsheet, so I went ahead and made one. Sometimes I feel like I'm too organized for the kandi spirit 😅
I'm a little embarrassed to share just because it's so poindexter, and there's a lot of inside jokes and cringe shit that I'm into, but as of posting this I have 220+ entries into a Notion table (I have it set to show how many because I love seeing the number go up), and they're tagged with themes/fandoms (space, Spongebob, etc), phrase length (how many words), and I have a section for notes about how I'd like it to look. I also have inappropriate ones tagged as nsfw/vulgar so I can click over to a sanitized and presentable list if I need to.
Thanks for checking out my very verbose kandi debut! Let me know what you think!

2024.05.21 05:41 juliandr36 On day 8 of a 100 day goal. Been here many times, feeling motivated but I know it won’t be easy.

By “been here many times”, I mean that stringing together days has always been a challenge and I’ve made multiple attempts to even achieve 1 month. It took over a year of trying to achieve that earlier in 2024. Starting in 2022, 3 days used to be a massive feat and all I could achieve utilizing all my focus and energy. Then it eventually became 5. Then it became 8 in 2023 about a year ago and that pattern continued. I eventually made it to 46 or so in 2024. I caved in on a vacation and it’s been hard to take it seriously again.
Since then, getting at least 5-7 has become easier I notice. It truly feels like building various sets of muscles each time. I have some new motivating factors, convictions, and am more vocal with those around me. This go around I’m also using a daily fitness routine to help me count the days and remain motivated while working towards a fitness goal that coincides with the 100 days.
Anyways, just sharing!
What’s your goal? How are you working to achieve it? Any hacks you’re trying to use or have used successfully?
Also, curious of others’ favorite podcasts. I love recovery elevator but have almost exhausted it. I’ve listened to every Annie Grace. Any other recommendations for what to listen to?
Thanks to everyone here. I’m on this sub daily and partake in others’ conversation as much as possible when I have the energy. IWNDWYT 🫶

these are all of the complete patterns i’ve made so far (i do have ideas for more i just need time to get them right). i made almost all the patterns i created (the outlier being the 3rd blood sport design bc i wasn’t sure i liked it enough, i may try to rework it in the future). and there’s the bonus of the first pattern i made of the symbol, which i have made it just isn’t the ~best~ haha !
but yeah i would love to see anyone make bracelets with any of these patterns all i ask is to be credited for the designs !!!

2024.05.21 03:59 Zealousideal_Put_489 Trying to swap a motor over on a push mower that I acquired that had a hole in the block but is otherwise brand new. Briggs & Stratton Craftsman

Hey everyone! So GF brought home a curb find Craftsman push mower (M110 140cc) that had a Briggs & Stratton motor on it. The sign said "FREE! Replaced Spark Plug, Carburetor, and Gas" so I knew it was gonna be a treat. Had a bunch of oil on one side, the filler neck side, so I assumed they just spilled a bunch.
The mower is in perfect shape otherwise. It looks like it hadn't even been used. And it has a bag!! Which is a huge deal since we (my neighbor and I) use a push mower for the cemetery that we cut.
Upon further inspection, there is a hole in the side of the block.
On a side note -- JB weld an option..? It's kind of like a crack that bulged out.
So my neighbor has a Hyper Tough mower that is ultra garbo but it works and that's really the bar at this point, if it works it's fine, since him and I cut everyone's grass with that, a string trimmer, and a lawn tractor mower.
I quickly discovered it had the same bolt pattern and both have a Briggs & Stratton motor. Other than the actual deck itself they have a few important similarities. The Hyper Tough is a 125 and the one that blew up was a 140.
I would've put the Hyper Tough motor on the Craftsman deck, since the Hyper Tough is falling apart and the deck is starting to rot through. Plus the Craftsman one has a bag and more adjustability.. However the bolts are seized in the motor mounts and one even sheared off, so I'm not even trying to do that anymore.
The big question I have is, are all the smaller displacement vertical shaft Briggs motors the same bolt pattern? Do any OTHER brands share this bolt pattern?
The mower is essentially brand new and other than the motor being cooked I was hoping to find a donor mower or just buy a motor new or refurbished to put on this deck.
I can find two briggs motor push mowers locally for $20 a pop or free, that seem in good shape. One is the same model that my neighbor had that is an exact fit and the other I'm not sure about.
thank you!
TL;DR do briggs and stratton vertical shaft small engines have the same bolt pattern so I can rig a bagging mower that previously had a Briggs 140cc motor on it to make things a little nicer for my community thanks!

2024.05.21 03:50 iwaslostsoi Seed beads with embroidery thread?

Picture/bracelet credit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1503985680/
I am wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to thread 4mm seed beads through a group of three embroidery floss strings like in this picture. I’ve tried a beading needle (although I don’t know what size!) I want to make a beaded bracelet, but have the ties in braids so they can easily be made adjustable! I’m particularly excited to hand them out to younger fans of Noah Kahan when I go to his WI show in July!

2024.05.21 02:31 AdamBLit That one neglected riff in "Dancers" was one of my first fav Meshuggah riffs

OK so perhaps no riffs are neglected lol but I don't hear anyone else praise specifically this one riff.
But that one riff during the part Jens says "withering in toxicity", that whole riff section was one of the very early riffs I remember in Meshuggah, even as I was appreciating and being exposed to all the rest, I remember when you could cut your own ringtone from a song and I totally made that riff my ringtone just to blast it to everyone a lot lol.
There's just something about it, it reminds me of the In Death - Is Death -style riffs, it's angular, it's that back and forth 8th to 6th string type shit they popularized, arranged in a fast but not too fast sick pattern, and it's the perfect riff to show up in that song, that 3/4 or 6 over 8 feel that the whole song gives, idk how tf to describe it but you know what I'm talking about.
They needed a riff to go between the first part of the song and the next riff, the next riff being the "dunaNAA, dununa dununa dununAA, dununAA, dununa dununa dununAA", and it's the perfect fucking riff, nothing lacking, nothing left to chance, a full bring-it riff to keep you interested.
Who else feels the same or similar or just gets me lol

2024.05.21 02:00 Sage_of_all_frogs CALLING MANGA SUPER SLEUTHS! Please help find this manga!

These are the details I remember (I read it a long time ago, take these details with grain of salt):
  1. It's fantasy, but NOT an isekai
  2. It's about a kid who grows up with and befriends a griffin
  3. The kid is a boy. Blonde, maybe brown hair. I think spiky hair. He wears big wooden bangles (bracelets) with zigzag patterns on them, i think they were earned in a rite of passage thing
  4. On the day he was born, his tribe killed a griffin, when they checked out its body, they found a baby griffin nearby and took it in, later when the boy grew up, they gave it to him
  5. Toward the end of the volume I read as a kid, the story shifted focus off the kid and the griffin and instead to a knight guy in tbe fantasy capital city or something. I think he had black armor
  6. I don't know if this is common practice, so I don't know if this narrows it down, but the first few pages of the volume were in color and the rest were black and white
If I can think of any more details I'll give them. I really appreciate any help, I've been trying to figure out what this manga is for years now. I know it's not made up, I asked my mom if she remembers it and she does. There aren't a ton of manga where griffins appear, much less ones that have a prominent role and aren't bad guys, so I thought it would be easier to find. Thanks for lending your sleuthing abilities.

2024.05.20 23:06 CyberSapien7 [SF] Emma 23

Emma Twenty-Three stood staring in childlike curiosity as her acquaintance Bob Twenty-Seven lay in a deep slumber. His polished cinnamon leather saints, size number 9, pointed up towards the wispy clouds. Half of his body sprawled out across the warm honey-and-mustard-colored pavers, the same paver path Emma walked on her short travels to work every day. His brown suede jacket lay uncharacteristically open, revealing the white underside of his coat pockets. How strange, she thought, in all the years she had known Bob, she was sure he would never leave his dwelling pod without his morning coat buttoned and fashioned properly. In fact, she knew he was quite particular when it came to that.
A light tap clicked at the toe of her black Mary Janes. Looking down, a realization dawned on her. The thread had been severed; his button must have worn away at its binding strings and simply fallen off. It all began to make much more sense. The stylish and sharp-dressed credit delivery man's recent attire mishap could all be explained so easily now. That's it: Bob Twenty-seven's coat was so disheveled for one simple reason. He had simply lost its button. Picking up the standard brown four-hole button, Emma moved in closer, relieved. She let out a light airy hum only she could hear; it pleased her quite a bit knowing she could realign things to normal by returning Bob's missing fastener. The clothing boutique she worked at was only a short five-minute walk from here; all her needle, thread, and seamstress tools would be there. She could fix Bob up in no time at all, Emma thought, a small smile forming on her soft, rose-colored cheeked face. When things got out of place in her life, which they rarely, if ever, did, she was always quick to correct them; it's just the way her mind was woven.
But the oddest thing happened when she moved nearer to Bob's position. Now with a better sightline, a patch of tiny hairs on the back of her neck tingled undesirably, which was then followed by a sudden wide dilation in her pupils. She could feel them just as intensely as she could feel her rounding back and shoulders wound tight with tension, eerily unable to move. It was then that she had come to realize Bob Twenty-seven wasn't alone.
Hunched and back turned, a man in an even more unsettling coat filled with filth and holes had a hand inside Bob Twenty-Seven's opposite coat pocket. Emma's eyes couldn't register what she was seeing. Something between the connection pairing her eyes, head, and comprehension was failing. With a slight tilt to her chin, she watched as the man rustled in Bob's pocket. Metal clanking and rattling sounded as he replaced what was in that pocket with his own. A slithering creature moved from underneath the man's rotting coat, appearing as a somewhat withered leafy brown point protruding out slowly. Revealing itself further, the strange scaled creature wavered like a large worm, continuing to slide further and further from underneath the man's coat. With an extended twitch, it flicked Bob's still slumbering face with a spitting whack. She found her eyes would not look away; actually, they could not, immense curiosity and confusion hijacked her attention.
The crouched figure buried his head closer to Bob's abdomen right as a snapping crunch sound passed into her ears. Red dye or paint began to form a small puddle at their side. "Please no," she wanted to say. If the unknown man and Bob weren't careful, the red dye would stain their clothes more than they already were. Now even what she had thought was a separate creature moved again, its pointed tip and hard scales twitching and slithering in the increasingly growing pool of red dye. Emma then knew this was officially the most unsettlingly abnormal day she could ever remember.
Leon Seven took a place next to her. Emma was so distracted she hadn't even heard his loud shoes clicking on the pavers as they normally did.
"Well day, isn't it? Good Emma Twenty-Three."
Shaking her mind from the tangle of confusion and questions, Emma found herself responding in her normal predetermined greeting pattern.
"Evermore well it is, good Leon Seven."
"Is that Bob Twenty-Seven? Surely he is not sleeping at this hour and place? If so, he is going to miss..." His voice cut off and wavered on the last few words as he most assuredly noticed the ragged man with some appendage-like creature atop Bob.
A brief pause as the two citizens took in the unordinary scene.
Then, after a moment, responding as if she knew the rest of his sentence, which she did due to the common greeting patterns, Emma replied, trying to be cordial. "That's a most excellent point, Leon Seven. I think it has something to do with this other man. Do you by chance know who he is?"
Studying both Leon and the slightly larger than average scaled man, Emma noticed Leon's eyes were first drawn to the appendage sticking out from beneath his torn and mangled coat. The appendage, possibly a tail, she was starting to seriously consider, had shimmering light brown scales like those fictional reptiles but only a few shades darker than her own skin. As she followed the dark and muddy coat to the man's neck, she realized the scales also contorted around the back and side of his head but in a finer pattern.
"I regret to say, good Emma Twenty-Three, I have never seen such a man. Rather strange-looking one, wouldn't you say?"
It was then Bob Twenty-Seven's foot jumped and contorted with a convulsion, then fell still again as the slightly larger man pushed into his neck. More strange red dye or liquid spilled on the path and freshly mowed green grass nearby. That uneasy wet chewing sound continued.
"Thawp, Thwap, Thwap."
