There’s talk at the local tavern- Another adventuring party was a little too loud while discussing a dragon attacking the people of Brandonsford. And there’s one thing you know for sure- where there’s a dragon, there’s bound to be treasure!
Looking for 3-4 more players, 25YO+ and LGBTQ+ friendly, to meet at a FLGS in the West San Fernando Valley (probably Game n’ Grounds or Fire & Dice) for weekly adventuring using the Old School Essentials (BX) ruleset, beginning May 30th. This adventure should last between 2-4 sessions, depending on the group’s play-style within a small-ish sandbox. I know how bad this sounds but I need to some perspective on this situation I am in. Me(21f) and my ex(31m) have known each other since I was 16. We dated for a year before our relationship started becoming unhealthy. I was an unfaithful partner and saw other guys and started doing a lot of drugs.
Over the past month we have been seeing each other again. It has been over two years since we last saw each other. We started acting like a couple again and spending a lot of time together. Things were going well until he mentioned he started talking to another girl and was going to fly out to see her. He pushed me away and any kind of rekindling of a relationship got smothered.
It turns out this woman was a scammer and was just after his money. I admit I got angry and did some things I shouldn’t have. During this time I went online and saw he was on some kind of website where they catch pedophiles. I know he is attracted younger girls and it doesn’t bother me but it made me upset. It feels like I’m being replaced by someone who is much younger and has a sexier body than me.
I shared this information despite the fact he didn’t want this getting out with one of my closest friends. His face is already plastered all over Google attached to the website of known pedophiles. I know I fucked up big time by invading his privacy but I felt like its not entirely my fault. We spent this past weekend together and it was terrible. It was back and forth fighting and overall being assholes to each other.
I feel like this relationship between us needs to end and there’s no going back to fix it. I know most of this relationship problems are caused by me being untrustworthy and it would probably be better if we parted ways for good.

I'm a 40 year-old guy who is completely new to skateboarding. My son has recently taken up the sport, and I want to join him and enjoy the experience together. I've purchased all the necessary safety gear, but now I'm a bit overwhelmed with the different board shapes available.
Given my age and beginner status, I want to prioritize injury prevention as much as possible. Can anyone recommend a specific board shape that would be best suited for someone like me who is just starting out. Popsicle, Egg, OG shaped. I am 5’10, 165lbs and wear a 9.5 shoe (if that helps). i (22) met this guy (22) on bumble and we met up after texting back and forth for a week. he came over (i know this is not a good first date; i am disabled and have a hard time going out and he was cool with it) to just hang out and we were talking while listening to music for the first 15-30 minutes, and then it just ... got quiet, besides the music (which was playing pretty softly). he also sat like 10 feet away from me on a chair while i was sitting on my bed.
i am quite an awkward person and apologized for being so shy, and that i'm not always like this and am just nervous, and he said he's always this shy. i kept catching him looking at me and then looking away slightly smiling. my cat really likes him which i think is a good sign, she is very clear on if she likes people or not and is not usually very cuddly and she was laying on top of him and being very affectionate with this man she's never met, if that's relevant.
at one point i escaped to the bathroom to think about what i should do after we'd been sitting mostly in silence for around an hour. i decided i was going to ask if he wanted to watch a movie when i came back, but i didn't get a chance as a few minutes after i returned he said he's just really tired. i said that's okay, i was just not sure if it was an awkward silence or a comfortable one and he said it was comfortable and that the vibes were good. then he stood up pretty suddenly and said he was going to get going and said he hoped i have a good rest of my week, and left before i could offer to walk him out. i felt like i was weird or that he didn't like me or something as that was pretty sudden, and i was sure he was going to ghost me or say he wasn't interested. i just didn't know what to talk about because i was nervous, i like him and find him really attractive and am a bit insecure about him being out of my league.
i texted him after i knew he was home thanking him for hanging out and apologizing for being so shy, and that i'd love to see him again but that i understand if he's not feeling it. he replied that it's no worries, he's super anti social and that yeah, maybe we can see each other later this week, so he's still interested it seems? he specifically said he's looking for a LTR when i asked last week so seeing that he hasn't ghosted after an awkward first meet up, am i overthinking it? he also said next time he comes over he'll bring some vinyls (we both love music and have record collections), so i think that indicates interest as well, i'm just so unsure. a friend suggested that he was just silently enjoying my company and that it was kind of a parallel play situation where we didn't need to interact other than just being there.
my question is what do i do next time we meet? i want to be more forward or make the first move or talk about how we both feel or something, or even just get to know him more, without being overwhelming or making things uncomfortable. i know i'm overthinking it really heavily as well. thoughts?

Some mostly sad doodles from a recent roleplay event my friends and I did. Some of these are pretty old drawings because the event was a long time coming.
In the canon Darkwing Duck world there was a particular comic series that I am a hater of back in 2010. In it there is an arc called "FOWL disposition" Steelhead informs Darkwing that FOWL high command is attempting to release Cthulhu (They called him Duckthulhu, like... He doesn't even look different either.... Maybe my personal Twitter beef with Sparrow is showing but the writing is lazy lmao) but this goes wrong and Cthulhu takes over St. Canard and it's citizens.
We decided to do our own spin on that plot by taking bits we liked and changing it. Magentus ends up breaking free of his mortal shell by FOWLs mistake, then takes over. In the comics, I personally love James Silvanis work but those mind controlled citizen are way too detailed. LP on the last slide shows off my changes. Also unlike Cthulhu Magentus has a whole pink thing with his magic.
In the rp, Magentus in his eldritch form realized the only way to gain his full potential was to rid himself of his humanity. Since he was such in his main form for so long, his humanity grew to be an essential part of him. He tried destroying it, but the best he could do is trap it where it couldn't effect him. Thus the 1950s style housewife Magentus. I basically accidentally Wanda visioned him my friends said and I haven't seen Wanda vision.
In the end with Morgana and Negaducks help the two halves reunited. Now with the whole world mad at him, and realizing his birth parents were right to back down from such power, for once he is wracked with guilt. Now he's going through his own turmoil while hiding away at his adoptive moms' place. He's having to find himself again.

I have started socializing more and I still feel so surprised at the behavior of very hot girls. A lot of them seem cool and friendly and nice.
A lot of really beautiful girls don't seem to have ridiculously high standards. I always thought they wanted 6ft tall guys with a lot of money and status but some of them simply look for kindness and humor and similar hobbies in guys.
Some attractive girls do have high standards but a lot dont seem to.
I used to flirt and talk with ugly girls only because I thought I had a better chance with them and I always felt shocked and more sad when I got rejected by less attractive girls.
I noticed that sometimes, pretty girls have low self esteem and dont think they are and sometimes, unattractive girls think they ARE attractive. me and many other guys thought that because a girl is ugly, shes easier to sleep with.

I had no idea who Baron Ryan was when I requested this title for review - I saw the cover and liked it enough to read the book description, which is what piqued my interest. Actually, to be more specific, it was one line of the book description that did it: "He plays in a terrible jazz band, falls in love far too easily, and generally struggles with the business of being human." I just had to read about Charlie and his college adventures after that!

"I want to die, but I'm so unlucky that if I were reincarnated, I'd probably just come back as myself." \*

^ This quote is the best one liner to sum up the entire collection. These stories are centered around Charlie and three of his friends as they navigate their way through their Fall semester at Harvard. I found Charlie endearing and relatable, a lot of his mistakes were also my mistakes in college, just a little less embarrassing.

"I have this sudden urge to cry out of relief. Despite all that's wrong with life, you can still hold small flashes of joy that fight the dark like fireworks in the night. No matter how completely you foul up your life, somehow these flashes keep you going on the promise you can start over. You can begin again, I think in that moment. You can begin again." \*

^ This quote captures the essence of these stories. These kids are stumbling their way into adulthood, desperate to understand themselves and how to choose their path in life. I bet each one of us could point to a story in this collection and say, "This one here, this one is about me."

"If you feel nostalgic, I think that's a good thing, says Mike. It means things have gone well so far. Nostalgia is life's way of saying keep up the good work." \*

What I loved most about this collection is that it took me back to my college days, my young adult years. There were several bittersweet moments while reading these stories, but mostly I found them comforting and heartwarming. It was like Baron Ryan was patting me on the back, letting me know that no one has it all figured out at that stage in the game of life - it wasn't just me.
In my opinion, Baron Ryan did an excellent job on his debut. I found his writing style hilarious, insightful and poignant. I will absolutely read more of his work.

2024.05.21 20:59 Heartbroken1212 Thoughts on ghosting after bad and uncomfortable first date

I’m usually against ghosting and I’m always upfront if I’m not feeling it with someone but this date was just awful. He made me uncomfortable the whole night and kept disrespecting my boundaries when I said I didn’t want to hold hands (kept trying throughout the night and got irritated when I kept shooting him down). Had bad table manners like burping and lifting up his shirt and rubbing his stomach at dinner. Bad hygiene. Tried messing with me while I was driving us to a bar nearby. Kept saying vulgar things. Tried inviting me back to his place and got a bit annoyed when I said no. He kept assuming I liked him throughout the night but I was trying my best to be nice.
I really never want to talk to this guy again. His whole attitude gave me the ick and I just want to block him on everything and never speak to him again.
I’d love to get some thoughts/insight on what to do? Maybe even what to say if I should write him. He just has a very aggressive and uncomfortable demeanor and I don’t like that

I recently read an article saying that Hinge is going to limit the number of people you can match with to prevent ghosting. If you want to talk to new people, you have to "end" current conversations or something. A representative said that "some people are overwhelmed with messages, while others get very little response." Tinder is also rolling out new features to help ease "burn out."
There are a number of reasons why this is happening and why, in general, online dating is bad. One of the biggest factors that everyone seems too skittish to talk about, however, is that men are struggling hard on these sites. The "people who get very little response" are typically men. There are a number of reasons for this.
For one, there are already more men on these sites than women, so that puts men at a disadvantage right from the start. Bumble's recent shake-up should prove once and for all that in the bulk of interactions, the man still makes the first move. Because of that, many women (even totally average women) are likely swamped with messages. They truly *are* overwhelmed. As man messaging a woman, there is a high likelihood that you'll be completely lost in her inbox. She may never even scroll down enough to even see you. And if she does, well, she just went through 50 profiles, you had better go above and beyond to stand out.
This leads to a hyper competitive market where everyone is going out of their way to one up the other guy. If you enter the fray just being yourself, you're probably going to get left behind. You have to post this pic, you have to say that in you bio, on and on. You need to be exceptional to stand out. To quote the bad guy from The Incredibles: When everyone's super, no one will be super. We're at the point where, on the apps, being normal or averge isn't enough because most everyone is "super" or at least playing "super."
Naturally, the best looking and most successful men do better, but they always have, most men understand this, and you can't blame women for wanting the best. However, that leads to a full 80 percent of women going after 20 percent of men, and most times, these men, knowing their value, just want to sleep around and have fun. This leaves a bad taste in many women's mouths while leaving the bulk of men (and women). Women hold out for Mr. Right (whom, they assume, is just one more swipe away), and men...well, men are giving up. Why bother with these sites?
Apps also encourage matching on superficial, surface level traits. They are essentially a meat market. You scroll through profiles like looking through a butcher shop window.
All told, everyone is losing out because of these apps, but in different ways. I foresee more and more men giving up, which will lead these apps to start charging the hell out of their most "successful" members. And really, these apps don't want you to be successful; you won't need them if you are.
These apps are rigged against us and will do whatever they can to encourage return customers.

I know my asking won't stop people from saying things like "anything with Peter Vermes not on the sideline" or "we have no good lineups" or "I called it in the offseason and told you delusionals that this would happen but this is what you wanted" but I'd love to have a nice little hypothetical conversation based in reality about what folks think the best possible lineup the team could put out right now is, and what you think would happen if they'd run it.
Peter is the coach and that won't change while these comments come in so let's not even go there.
So, what line up and formation do you think gets the absolute most out of this roster? Do you lean into youth and hope they develop with minutes? Do you pair veterans with young guys in complimentary spots? Do you maximize speed? Do you simplify things with a formation change to something more rudimentary?

So to start this off I just want to say I’m aware I’m in no position to feel the way I’m feeling and that I’m toxic and all of this is very messy. Now for the clarity: Me and my boyfriend have been together for about 3 years now going onto 4. Me and him have been through so much together. The first year we dated he had gotten into an accident that left him in the hospital for 3 months. We spent so many nights together there and there were endless obstacles that we had to face along the way. It was a very stressful time period but well needed as me and him have never been closer since. I (21 F) took care of my boyfriend (23M) for about a year afterwards give or take. I got to learn his personality all his likes and dislikes. I’ve seen all the good and the bad and the cute and gross and vise versa. Our feeling grew a lot quicker for each other too as time went on and as we had to work with his new disabilities. All the more things I fell in love with. His determination And willingness to learn and conquer is very inspiring and a clutch for me. Recently as of a year ago I had my own place for the temporary as I was caring for family and trying to help everyone get back on their feet. Prior to I was living with my boyfriend, it was a big place for just 3 people and an interesting experience to say the least. Over time I needed up taking in my best friend of 6 years. He’s always been in and out of my life as his family has moved often and far. Well his father had kicked him out and next thing I know he’s on my couch. I didn’t want to be the asshole and tell him to leave, as the place I was staying in was not actually mine (I was renting and the homeowner was very strict and nasty and didn’t allow guests as she was renting without papers) so I gave him 3 days. I had 2 teenagers in the house that I was caring for without much help beside my boyfriend helping with rides here and there and thankfully some groceries when I asked. My best friend at the time (we’ll call him S) was very willing to go out of his way to help me. I would come home frome 12 hour shifts and the house would be clean and the fridge stocked. He had a very close relationship with the children and hey really looked up to him. He was more than supportive of my rough situation and went from being a 3 day couch-hopper to a huge supporter in my life and a live in roommate. This went on for a month until we had both gotten drunk one night and ended up hooking up. This is where it gets really messed up. This went on for about a month, helping with the kids, being there for me, and providing, all whist my boyfriend was on vacation. The night me and S hooked up my boyfriend was in the Bahamas on my 21’st birthday. I was upset that day and it was just me and S that hung out at home, which led up to everything. I know it’s not any excuse and I’m still trying to work past all my delusions lol. Sooner than later my boyfriend found out and I had to cut ties with S for the sake of my relationship. It’s been about a year since everything has happened and I am back living with my boyfriend and everyone has gone their separate ways. Throughout this year S has been texting me and reaching out to me on social media. I do still miss him and I hate that everything happened the way it did and all ended with us no longer speaking because he was my best friend for years prior to. I miss not having to not ask for help and I miss the relationship with the kids being strong without me having to push anything between anyone or be encouraging. With S I never had to ask for anything he just knew what had to be done. He knew what I needed. There’s also in bewteens I got from him that I don’t get with my boyfriend and I hate that cause my boyfriend IS the person that knows me better than anyone else. Since his accident though his life now has limitations. He’s not as cuddly as he once was and can no longer be rough or play fight and none the less have proper intercourse anymore. There’s just been a lot surrounding everything and now since I’ve had a year to reflect I. Have realized that I miss S and all those little things. I still love my boyfriend and since he had left me the one time(he left me for a month) after finding out between me and S… I have never wanted to feel that feeling like I was going to loose him ever again. Per group rules I am not seeking medical advice. I'm pretty beat up emotionally and financially and exhausted and just need to figure out how to get through this.
I adopted a little guy about a month ago, who seems to have had a rough time on the streets. We have two big older boys in the house who he would like to be friends with but they do not care for him. Up until taking him to the vet, that was the only real difficulty, and we had hopes of that getting better with time. I signed up for a local concierge vet for ease of appointment and making sure I had someone near and reputable; I got vet insurance; I signed up for the vet's wellness bundle, even though it overlaps some of what my insurance would provide. I laid out a lot of money to start just to make sure I could take care of this guy.
He has some severe gum issues that will take between 2500 and 3000 to resolve. And he has FiV and FeLV, according to initial tests. I'm waiting for the confirmatory tests (another five hundred dollars) but from what I understand those are unlikely to say anything but 'yes he has these things'. So my insurance won't help with any of those problems, from what I understand. Meanwhile I have to keep the poor guy isolated to protect the other cats in the house, at least until we discuss with the vets if Joe has a currently contagious infection and the seniors get vaccinated effectively, and maybe even isolated beyond that.
I'm not giving up on Joe, I love the little guy and I don't want to abandon him, he has had a hard life already. I'm just not sure how to take care of him if he needs to be isolated or how to afford to take care of him- by the end of June I'll have spent two months of my pay on him, and that's without other things we haven't thought of post confirmatory testing. If anybody has any suggestions or knowledge to share, even a little bit, please feel free. It's a sad and anxious time at our house.
