Root touch up
Hi,
I’m looking for a good recommendation for dark brown root touch up for grey hairs, a marker applicator or stick etc. I used one before that worked fine but it isn’t sold anymore and the one I just bought is way too heavy and turns hair slightly orange, plus is hard to get out in the wash
Can I have a recommendation for a good one I can get online that you may of used or know of that doesn’t cause these problems. Thanks!

2024.05.21 11:33 Fun-Improvement2491 Subclass 500 with De Facto

Hi all! Im from the PH and recently got accepted for Masters in a certain uni in AUS and I already received my COE. I plan to take my de facto partner with me as dependent. For context, we’ve been living at his parents house for more than a year. We intend to lodge our visas by the end of 2nd quarter this year. We’re doing everything DIY and did extensive research on the requirements and talked to a few couples online who recently got their visas granted. Based on our research and inquiries, here’s everything we’ve gathered so far:
Are these evidences enough to make a strong application?
I understand that there are certain risks we can’t avoid but we just want to make sure that we have more than enough proof to consider this a strong application. Let me know if there’s anything else we need to acquire. Thank you <3

2024.05.21 11:23 fenrirskin AIO: Is my manger not scheduling me because of my race?

Dramatic title, but I can't really explain it that well in few words. I also couldn't figure out a Subreddit that this would fit on, I think this one is best.
This one's a long one. TL;DR at bottom, but some details are important.
A bit of backstory first.
I'm a recently graduated HS Senior, headed to university in Fall. Around March, I applied to work at a mid-sized stadium in my area for a summer job-- I have about 2 years of stable retail experience, plus ServSafe certification and some good credentials outside of that. I've left almost all my jobs on good terms and I do my work fine. Never had any complaints.
I am a black woman. That is relevant to my story. I also have a very "white-sounding" name. For the sake of my privacy, let's say it's Sarah McIntyre. It's got the same vibe. I also have a "white-sounding" voice, especially over the phone. A lot of my family pokes fun at it, and it's not a huge deal.
So, I'm applying to this job, and the online application is pretty sparse. Few questions about my experience, age, and contact info. Nothing about my race at all. I apply, get a request for a phone interview, and hop on a call a few days later. My manager loves me. We have a great interview. She emails me a day later and says I got the job, and my orientation is in a week.
Orientation goes on, it's in a pretty large group and she doesn't address any of us directly or even ask for names, but I noticed her giving me a bit of a weird look. I figured it was about my hair which is dyed bright green so whatever.
We start working, and she's just very weird to me the whole time. Gives me weird looks, doesn't answer my questions, always watching me while I'm working at the concessions register. She doesn't do this with any of the other girls there. Concessions is about five other girls, all around my age. All of them are first-years at the stadium.
I get ready for work the next day, and I get a call from my Manager:
"Hey, OP. Don't come in today." "Oh? Is the game called off?" "No. Someone else is covering you. Bye."
Which was incredibly weird to me, honestly. But I wasn't going to press on the issue-- it was the first shifts of the season, maybe she wanted to train someone else instead of having me work. After this, there was about a month and a half gap between my next shift, which was May 9. Then I have another May 11; both go fine.
Manager posts the schedule for the next few weeks, up until June 9. I have one single shift. One. A four-hour concessions shift. I was insanely confused by this-- it's the start of the season with home games almost every single day, and multiple events with huge crowds. I texted the other girls I work with through our scheduling app and asked what their shifts looked like-- 3 to 5 shifts every week, about six hours each.
I was seriously wracking my brain for 3 days straight trying to think why on Earth I got the short end of the stick. I show up early and leave late every day, I help out as much as I can, customers don't complain, I'm experienced with the register and with counting tender, my co-workers and I get along fine, I've never had any issues with anyone.
The only thing I could seriously think about was my race. Which feels very cheap and victim-y, but it was the only thing I noticed that was an outlier. Out of every single employee at our stadium, I am the only person of color. Maybe somebody else is a minority, too, but they're incredibly white passing if they are. The only other brown people are the baseball players, which aren't on our staff team-- they're a separate entity entirely.
But that's all I can think of-- and my manager wouldn't have known about my race until she saw me for the first time at my first shift. And it's kind of difficult to have all-white staff considering we are in the suburbs of Chicago. Most people in our area are Black or Latino. It's seriously a considered effort to have an all-white staff in this area. I think I may have just slipped through the cracks because my name and voice are very misleading? But I can't tell if I'm overreacting or not-- I haven't said anything to my manager.
I don't want to quit because my coworkers are really nice, and I love the job. It's great being outside and being in a fun and fast environment like a stadium. But I'm trying to save for university and that's difficult when I don't work at all. Plus, I don't wanna give my labor to someone who despises me.
Am I overreacting in this situation and getting ahead of myself, or is this actually something worth looking into? Please help me. And yes, I know that it's very overdramatic to make things about my race-- this is genuinely the first time I've had to consider this with an employer.
TL;DR I'm the only minority at my job and I get barely any shifts while my white coworkers get more. I don't do anything wrong and I have lots of experience in similar roles. Should I look into this more, or get over myself?

2024.05.21 11:12 thisperfectmess African Developer small rant

A little rant. I am 27F. Does anyone really talk about how frustrating it is to be a jobseeker in Africa? I graduated in 2019 with an Accounting bachelor’s degree. I couldn’t find any decent-paying job, so I ended up working as a commercial property caretaker making around $260 per month. Sounds like nothing and yes it wasn’t much but I was able to find a single room and rent and also buy basic foodstuff. Buying an extra banana meant I was squeezing my budget. I tried content creation, doing online writing gigs to supplement my income and luckily, I got by.
Forward to November 2021, I moved in with my then-bf, thankfully, he has been nothing but supportive, and I didn’t have to pay rent so I could save a little bit from my earnings.
I went back to school to finish up my professional papers (CPA in my country has different exams from your accounting degree.) Supposedly, the professional papers should give you an edge but that wasn’t my case.
Fast forward to October 2022, I changed course. I had been running a WordPress site for like six years at this point, just writing random University experiences so I knew anything SEO, writing, etc.
My bf suggested I try programming and see whether it’s my thing. This was after endless months of job applications. Guys, I applied to even volunteer just to get my foot through the door in a lot of accounting firms but I got nothing.
I was beginning to fall into depression, so getting something new to give me a purpose didn’t sound like a bad idea. I went through a tonne of YouTube videos and finally started Harvard’s CS50x. I finished that in June 2023 and since then, I have built projects in Python, JS, and Django.
I created a portfolio and I have been applying to jobs all over again. I just need to mention that I have been dreading the application because I know how well it went last time. The most frustrating thing is that even remote jobs on LinkedIn require you to be in the USA, Europe, or the country that posted it. My country, where I am legally allowed to work, barely has any job postings. The ones that are there are from months ago and the applications are usually over 200.
I feel so lost and frustrated at this point. I do not even know why I am writing this, but I have seen so many people who live in the US trash the USA. I get it, you never appreciate what you have until you don’t. As a young African, I will tell you, if you even have an opportunity to apply, you are lucky whether you get the job or not. Some of us are automatically disqualified by virtue of where we were born.

Interested to know the thoughts of others going through it as we are due to submit next week but I’m convinced we will fail due to not having detailed subcontractor design (ie piling / roofing / MEPH etc) and the team misunderstanding the requirements. 2024.05.21 10:46 albert1165 Vuong Pham pumping VF3 and VFS, what we know about VF3: the truth ...

He is saturating the Vietnamese media with VF3 news, for example
VinFast VF 3's creative business strategy through an expert's perspective
6 years of working without buying anything worth over 2 million just waiting for one day to have money to buy the VF 3 outright (this one is a lame seeding, obvious by the way it was written)
VinFast shares have doubled since receiving deposits for the VF3 car, ranking 4th in market capitalization among electric car manufacturers in the world
He is pumping VFS for sure.
It is clear that Vuong Pham pumped VFS so he can dump VIC / VHM. Today, VIC was net sold ~45B VND by "foreigners" and VHM was net sold by "foreigner" ~134B VND. So another day, Vuong Pham net ~200B VND by dumping on Vietnamese retail investors who jumped in to buy VIC / VHM after VFS was pumped 30%.
He keeps using the VF3 news, letting seeders spread the false narative in many places: VFS increased due to the huge success of VF3. Not.
Here are the truth about VF3:
1/ Of 27K VF3 "purchase applications" at the time of the annoucement, nearly half are online order through shopee, livestreem, not all deposits are paid. Only half. People could choose not to pay the livestream/shopee orders and as such a number of "reservations" will be automatically canceled.
2/ The 210km range of VF3 is NEDC standard, the most inflated one. Real world range (such as EPA standard) is likely close to 120-140 km range !
3/ We are always generous to Vinfast, so assume all 27K VF3 have got deposited and all will be bought when VF3 are delivered (not likely). That amounts to about $270M in revenue and $27M gross profit (generous 10% margin), and if depreciation is counted, VF3 has $270M revenue but $54M gross loss using 20% gross margin loss (for reference, Vinfast gross loss in Q4 and Q1 is about 40%). So the 27K VF3 does not change the financial of Vinfast, and it will incur even more loss. This is facts and figures.
So Vuong Pham will continue to use the pumping trick to dump stock because he has no other way to raise money. He will use non-material pumped news as an excuse. Will he pull VFS to $9 today?
He can do that but in reality, it seems that he has a modest sucess as the volume of VFS is still tiny and the volume of VIC / VHM is still around 3 days average because apart from a small increase of 1-2M shares due to clueless retail investors, there is no institutional investors interested in VFS, VIC, VHM.
Vuong Pham is desperate to play the last pumping trick with VF3 with non-stop news on VF3, but at the end of the day, or rather at the end of June, he still has $1.5B debt to repay, and every quarter there after.
Tick tock.

On Monday, I tried to report my 90 days online, but it rejected my application. I thought "no big deal, I will go in person." But last night I accidentally washed my passport - it was in my pocket when I did laundry. I have dried the pages but it's a mess.
Does anyone know what Immigration will do in this situation? Will they kick me out of the country, even though my visa is good until Jan 2025? I can get a new passport from my embassy but it will take up to 4 weeks, and my 90 day notice is due now. Any ideas what I can do? I am going to Immigration on Thursday.

2024.05.21 10:07 Hot-Schedule1593 VFS Schengen Visa online application walkthrough with tips and tricks

As a non-EU national, here are some notes from my personal VFS experiences:
Online appointment
  1. You don't need to provide all docs when booking a Schengen visa appointment. You can do it parallelly i.e. secure an appointment, and use the days leading up to it to gather and print all necessary docs + copies of everything including expired passports + visas.
  2. Be careful NOT to keep refreshing the page (no matter how tempting it is) because there's a limit and if you cross it, you will be penalised. You will be asked to refresh your browser cache/cookies and/or wait for 2 hours. You can try to use a dummy email for the refreshing so that when you see a slot open up, you simply log in with your real one and then book the slot. Sometimes when you log in repeatedly, it doesn't let you log in for a while. Don't be alarmed. Try using multiple devices or network connections.
  3. Slots open up randomly and it's hard to predict the pattern. I noticed it opened up 1x every 15-17 days in the evening around 6 pm. If you can afford to go to another city, you may be able to find slots at other VFS centres in the country that receive less volume. I had been checking everyday for an entire month and a half before I managed to get a slot.
  4. It will NOT show you all available slots but they do exist (!!!). Don't fall for this terrible UI/UX dark pattern. The moment you see it a slot is available on XXX date. Click on the button because they actually have more slots in a calendar once you progress to that page. A lot of people don't realize this and wait for all dates to show up on the first screen. So even if you are not sure about the date it shows, that's fine. You will be able to see calendar availability for the next ~2 weeks and also be able to choose the time slot in the morning, afternoon, etc.
  5. Appointment confirmation takes time once you reach the payment page and you may not get an email right away. The first attempt was rejected and no money was deducted thankfully. But it told me to check in 5 hours. When I did, I had no confirmation on my Dashboard. I tried again and used another payment method which deducted my money. But still not confirmation. After about 2 hours, I checked my dashboard and it was confirmed. Still no email confirmation. I had to manually re-send the booking confirmation.
  6. The DOB on my appointment confirmation on VFS portal was incorrect even though I put the right one. The code is messed up because it showed the date of booking minus 1 year as my DOB. Don't worry if this happens. Go to your appointment. (All the money they take and they can't fix this bug). This happens if you don't book their Insurance - and I didn't. The poor design might make it seem like that's a required step, but it's not.
  7. Once you get an appointment, the window to reschedule is small but you will not lose your existing slot if you do click the button to explore the options.
At the centre
  1. Poor design extends IRL where they don't have clear signages making people think that the Premium Lounge is the only option. The person told me that I would have to pay a horrendous amount of about 155 EUR / 168 USD (which wasn't listed on the website). I said no thanks. They tried to convince me by saying that lounge doesn't have a queue. I told her to tell me where the regular booth was. Surprise surprise. There was no queue there either. It's just a trick for you to pay as much money as possible.
  2. Queues for uncommon or less mainstream countries like Luxembourg, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland were practically empty for the first 2 hours in the morning and less crowded. Popular countries like France, Italy, and Germany were packed by 10.30 am with only a few seats available. This is also the section that has more seats and more booths due to the volume of applicants.
  3. Even if you have all copies and all documents, be prepared for them to stump you because it's unlikely the experience will be frictionless. Your photo won't work if you are wearing glasses or the background isn't white etc etc etc. It seems like their mandate is to not accept applications on the first go. Even when I have had all the documents and all copies, there's been something that they bring up. Eg. "the visa processing time is 60 days" but when I booked my appointment, it was 15-20 days on the website (I still have 45 days though). The person told me that they would have to ask the manager (but that never happened). They made me write a declaration stating I was made aware of this by the personnel. I mean, it's a bit ridiculous. As it is, you barely get an appointment, when you do the instructions differ from when you actually go there. So, there's really no winning.
  4. Apparently their Trustpilot feedback is fake. Even if you write something, chances are it will get overshadowed by bots. There was a case about how they manipulated this overnight.
  5. Make sure your docs and bookings have YOUR NAME on everything, dates, locations (with addresses for accommodation), and phone number and email of the places. Once you submit this, they will "verify" and make you wait. I literally saw one of the dudes behind the counter playing with my passport smh.
  6. Your name will be called and you will get a slip (this means they have accepted your application) which includes tracking information etc. You will need to go make the payment. After this, go BACK TO THE COUNTER where you submitted docs. Collect your folder and proceed to the biometric room. Don't sit, give the person your receipt/slip and wait in the queue. Your name will be called to do the biometric stuff. After this, you have to, once again, GO BACK to the counter and submit your folder with your documents and passport. Then, we wait and hope for the best.
  7. Do your research and get receipts and printouts of EVERYTHING because I wouldn't trust the people behind the counter to do their due diligence. I mean EVERYTHING. If you intend to take an internal train or a public bus, print out the train schedule and put it in there. If you intend to go to another country that allows visa-free entry for valid Schengen visa holders, take a printout of that Embassy's notice and put it in. I can't stress this enough. Get proof and documentation for everything you possibly can.
  8. FYI Some countries say it has to be your "first" port of entry and/or "main destination". Some countries will only accept if it is your MAIN destination i.e. longest duration of stay. Check relevant sites and be careful!
IDK if this goes to show how cumbersome the process is but it is almost always unpleasant and borderline traumatic. I feel for the people who don't know any better, who have to rely on some agent, or in general are unable to see through the BS. The monopoly enables them to play God and while their job should be to pass on your docs and application, they seem to exercise their own discretionary power to make it hell for people who don't know better. Meh.
I have never left a VFS appointment feeling good about anything. I don't think the Premium Lounge would have helped to solve this either. I hope the VFS monopoly dies and the Schengen Visa digitisation makes this easier. Good luck and hang in there.

2024.05.21 10:06 product3000 Mistake on ILR Application - Any Way to Fix After Submitting?

Hi All. Just submitted my ILR app this weekend. The SET-M form has changed and I ended up making a very minor mistake on the app form due to how the form is now worded.
To be specific, the question where the mistake is was “Have You Ever Been Married Before”. I answered NO because I (the applicant) have never been married before, although my partner has. In all other applications, the form always asks, “Have Your OR Your Partner Ever Been Married Before.”
I’ve also included a written and signed addendum with his previous marriage and divorce certificate (as we did with all other apps before they changed the wording of this question). We definitely haven’t lied or anything, but the wording of this question has got me all wound up.
Sorry I’m panicking — I’ve been kicked out of the UK before bc of Home Office requirements so I’m traumatized…and I’m disabled now with very poor health, so the thought of being sent back to my home country under these circumstances would be potentially life-threatening for me.
I’m freaking out that I’m going to have to pay for an entirely new ILR app…but my partner thinks he found a 0300 phone number where we can call to tell them there is a mistake on the app and we want to correct this.
All the guidance I’ve seen online says we can’t correct mistakes after the app is submitted. Is this 0300 phone number real?
Anyone have experience with this?
I’m really sorry I’m so stressed out about this and I’m sure this post is coming off as terribly worried (which I am).
What should we do? Should we just submit a new app? Ride out the current one and fight through an appeal?
Thanks in advance.

2024.05.21 10:02 sampetit1 Partner receives L permit after family reunification

Hi there,
I’m an EU citizen and moved to Switzerland in April last year, on a B permit.
As part of the move, my partner (non-EU) also recently moved to Switzerland from Ireland. We had to go through the visa (D) application process with a marriage application. We got married in Switzerland after she was granted an entry visa and my partner recently received her permit: a 6 month long L permit.
We are a little surprised by this and are struggling to find much about such a situation online. Would my partner not be eligible for a B permit? And can she work on her very short term L permit ?
