I found Reddit posts to be a good resource for each step of the Youth Mobility Scheme Visa application process, so wanted to make a post sharing some tips, timelines, and what to expect. For context, I am a 25M Canadian with an engineering degree, moving to London in the fall without a job lined up as of yet.
1. Application (60-90 mins)
The application process is not difficult, and took me about 60-90 mins. One thing it asks you about is your international travel history over the last 10 years, so it would be helpful to have that information handy. It also asks when you plan on arriving in the UK, so you should have an idea of that too. It doesn't have to be exact but you will have a 90 day window for entry from the date you select, so give yourself some buffer if you are undecided. You will also need to indicate the location (post office) you will pick up your BRP card once you arrive. I recommend picking a location that is easy to get to if you don't know where you will be living yet.
Towards the end of the application, you will be directed to a website where you will pay your application fee and NHS surcharge (charged to credit card in USD). Once you have paid, you can book a biometrics appointment at the location nearest you. For me, this was VFS in the Yorkville area of Toronto. The closest available appointment for me at the time was 3-4 weeks away. There are optional services such as expedited/primetime appointments, courier delivery, document scanning assistance, SMS updates, keep your passport during processing, etc. The prices for these options were insanely high so I don't recommend paying for any extras unless you are on a very tight timeline. I think the SMS text updates were only $5 if that gives you peace of mind.
2. Proof of funds documents and Biometrics appointment (3-4 weeks for appointment + 1 week for visa processing)
Once your appointment is confirmed, you can upload your proof of funds documents using the VFS online tool. You need to show that you had the minimum funds (£2,530) in an accessible account for 28 consecutive days, with the most recent of those 28 days being no earlier than 30 days from your visa application date. I was able to download a statement from my savings account showing the rolling balance for a certain month, so I used that. I had read online about bank statements being tricky as the immigration office wants a date of issue on the statement, so to be safe I went to my bank and got a letter of good standing, dated and stamped within the required timeframe, and uploaded that too.
On the day of your appointment, print and bring your appointment confirmation (has a QR code the immigration office scans) and document checklist. You will receive both in an email after your Visa application is submitted. You will get a number and be called for your biometrics (photo taken for Visa vignette, fingerprints) and submit your passport in a Fedex envelope which is provided to you. I was at VFS for about 25 mins. They also give you a SIM card that comes with 1 month free cell service in the UK which is helpful.
A few days after my appointment, I received an email notifying me that my Visa was being processed. A few days after that, I got an email saying my passport was ready for pickup. They had me open the envelope to ensure my Visa was there, then I was free to go. I did not pay for any expediting, and the time between my biometrics appointment and picking up my visa was 4-5 business days I think.
3. Once you have your Visa
Start the job search. It may be helpful to indicate on your CV that you have the right to work in the UK, especially if you have a Canadian phone number like me.
There are lots of things to consider before making the move. Pause/cancel any subscriptions you won't use, downgrade your phone plan to a cheap plan if you want to keep your phone number, sort out your finances. I was able to open a UK HSBC bank account from here in Canada quite easily, which should make things easier when I land.
Lastly, you have to pick up your BRP card within 10 days of arriving in the UK. I believe the BRP will get you in and out of the country, while the Visa is more of an entry document.

At the end of April, my Gmail was hacked into and all my passwords associated with my email were compromised (bank accounts, social media, phone service provider, pretty much anything and everything that was saved to the Google password manager). The moment I realized was when my TD Bank sent me an SMS alerting me that someone was trying to log into my account, and to confirm whether this was me or not.
While I was scrambling to contact TD and lock my cards/change my passwords, I receive an email from my PC money account telling me that around $120 have been successfully transferred. Surprise surprise, I didn't send that money. I call PC, and within 30 minutes the fraudulent e-transfer has been reported. Keep in mind, the transfer was still pending at the time, the money was not transferred. They tell me they will reach out to me through email when there is an update on the situation.
I call them back several times between then and today. When I call back today, the agent tells me the investigation is still pending, but he will transfer me to another agent. When the second agent picks up, she tells me that the investigation was concluded on May 9, and that they concluded that it was not fraud because it was the first outgoing e-transfer from that account. I'm so frustrated, why have they been leaving me hanging? Why did the first agent not have any information on the state of my account, where is the communication (within the company AND with me)? Where was the email, the call, any form of communication to alert me about the investigation? Which was bogus either way, this investigation was obviously just the legal team scraping to find a way to blame this on me rather than help me out.
Yes, I understand that I am responsible for having my email hacked into. However, in case this unfortunate situation happens to you, don't expect that PC will have your back. Do not depend on them the same way you depend on your main banks. They did not verify my identity, send me any alerts like TD did, and they did not cancel the pending transaction. I have cancelled my account, and will be encouraging my friends to not do so.

According to the documentation, the rate limit is now 3 emails per hour, but when looking at the settings on my project, I see 30 as the rate limit (the project was created very recently).

Background: I have been on a career break for a year and a half now, having quit my job to accomplish a prominent life goal. After re-transitioning back into regular life, I have been applying primarily to Cloud, DevOps, Technical Support, and entry-level Software engineering roles but have not been successful in getting any interviews. Prior to my career break, I was working for a prominent cloud computing platform (I'll let you take a guess as to which one) and have a considerable amount of experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting infrastructure on there. Despite this, I haven't been successful in landing any interviews. I'm applying both to local (Portland, OR) and remote positions, and besides the resume component, I probably haven't been submitting as many resumes as I should regarding numbers game.
Request: I believe my prior resume was not selling myself well, so I've looked at the wiki and made considerable edits to it before starting another round of applications. I'd appreciate some feedback primarily on the experience bullets (including addressing my career break) and projects, but am open to other feedback. After reflecting on job responsibilities, it was challenging to pare down the experience and there are other parts I have not highlighted as much, like focusing on storage solutions and working more with streaming infrastructure. I've also attached a copy of my prior resume for comparison to see if I'm headed in the right direction.
Other notes: I removed my 3 years of part-time support work during college at Company X to make room for more detailed experience during full-time career at company A/B. Few reports also on DownDetector. Plan renewed today and checking the Public website, shows the payment went through fine. Able to get SMS texts, but nothing (email, websites) will load?

I attempted to log back into the account, I was given a new user name and all my account history and karma was restarted. I am aware if the previous account name .. no password was ever created for it and no email was ever associated..

Fazer a solicitação por email não é suficiente? Eu dei todas as informações necessárias para identificação. Nome, email, cpf. O que mais eles precisam?

Anyone pay TEPCO via sms? I vaugely remember paying mine at a conbini but I got a text threatening to cut my power if I don't pay in 24hrs so I guess not.
I input my card info (after some difficulty) and after hitting pay it loads for a sec then takes me to the homepage. Afterwards, the link doesn't work until I clear cookies then I can do the whole process over again. Infinitely.
I have no confirmation email and I don't even see a charge on my card. It is night time and I know Japan is notorious for some systems being manually processed when theyre automated in other countries (like payments) so I was wondering if this is normal and not being able to reopen the link without clearing cookies is some crude method to stop me from trying to pay more than once
Anyone have any experience with this? Seems odd and really, I'd like to /not/ have any downtime of electricity.
EDIT: I have two sms messages. One links to the actual website and makes me pay there, one linked to a payment portal. The payment portal one was a scam and it was a terrible coincidence they showed up around the same time.

I am one who truly hates these "I'm out of here" and "going back to iPhone" posts, but I also don't see any posts that actually address the modem issues with the Pixel 8. Similar, reaching out to Google is like pulling hair. I've managed to get one "supervisor" to admit the issue was present and that they're "working hard to fix it", but Google's go-to is always warranty swap.
We have 3 Pixel 8s in the house, and it was sometime earlier this year that we identified many calls were not coming through to our handsets. Our son would send us a message on Facebook saying "tried to call, just silence then voicemail". We'd go to call him back and our phones would just hang. We would have to toggle airplane mode on and off, then be able to make/receive calls.
To be fair, we do live on the fringe of cell service, but this was never (and still isn't) an issue with the kids in our house with iPhones.
I set up some testing using an automated platform, dispatching an automated call at the top of every hour to the 3 Pixel 8s in our house. About 1/3 of the tests failed, with the calls either hanging (silence) or directly to voicemail - in some cases, it was 10-20 seconds of silence, then voicemail. In some cases, the incoming call would not ring, but be marked as a missed call, then the actual call would come in behind it seconds later.
When the calls did reach the handset, incoming calls made the phone go from 5G to LTE then 3G, and back to 5G. We forced the phones into LTE, then tried this test again, but still, they downgraded to 3G.
I also did similar with SMS, but they were all delivered either instantly or within 30 seconds.
I'm not going to fully rule out the network here, but the iPhones in the house can handle the exact same cell network with no issues. I suspect we are a small percentage, but still a percentage.
The real kicker was following the two April updates, the Pixels were suddenly dropping the WiFi connection, too. I'd get an email and notice my phone didn't go off, only to see the WiFi icon was gone, cellular was dormant, and my saved home WiFi network was disabled due to bad connectivity. Again, airplane toggle on and off fixed both. iPhones maintained their connection. For these reasons, we can't use WiFi calling, either.
So, these modems clearly can't handle fringe/edge cellular connections. Google has admitted this is a problem. A quick search on Reddit, which Google support refuses to acknowledge, shows I am not alone.
What now, Google? Do we just wait? Do I keep this Pixel support going until it really burns me, like a 911 call that doesn't go through, or a call from the school that our son is violently ill and needs to come home?
Where do we draw the line? I'm not your beta tester. Our lives aren't your test group.
I'd love an actual response from Google, but I won't hold my breath.

I got an email from Hyundai this morning informing me they're going start forcing everyone to use 2FA for "MyHyundai.com and the MyHyundai with Bluelink® app". While I appreciate the added security of properly implemented 2FA, I think this is going the be nothing but frustrating. My Bluelink app has to log me in almost every time I open it. It's already dreadfully slow to use the app and this is just going to increase that time and frustration. I'm not a fan of this change, especially since their only stated methods of 2FA are email and SMS. No mention of using a code generator app like Google Authenticator or similar.

Has anyone else had a meltdown from vonage regarding SMS registration? We completed our registration in March of 2023. However we received an email stating action required last week on two items. The email says changes must be done within 4 weeks and the portal said by June 11, 2024. Those were updated and my status now states pending again. I know others had to have the same issue as I have never seen the Vonage chat support have a queue in the hundreds and wait times over an hour. All of our extensions can receive sms but not send sms.
Vonage just posted a message about this just 14 hours ago according to Google.

Today I was trying to login on my Paypal account to transfer me some money to pay bills and sms/two factor authentication stuff is suddenly stopped working, I tried over 40 times to send me new code and nothing. I contacted Paypal via email and they insist to make a call which is ludicrous because I'm from Croatia and number they provide is in Ireland, to explain, is really expensive to make that call. I email I offered them I will provide everything they need, from emails, numbers, ID, everything and one hour later, still no response. This is insane, it's not a joke, my money is at stake here, I don't know what to do :/

I have booked a ticket from Bangalore to Trivandrum for 24th May on AIX 968. a quick glance at flight tracker website shows that this particular flight is getting cancelled every day from last few days. I have not got any flight cancellation email or SMS yet. I need to reach TVM on Friday. Would is the best course of action here? Cancelling the flight at this stage would mean almost 0 refund . If I wait till 24th and air india express cancels then I need to re book with some other airline which would cost quite a lot for last minute booking. Hi all,
I run a very simple wordpress website for an organization which would like to have an app that allows its memebers to sign up for certain news categories and be notified via push notifications when a news in their category of interest is published.
They specifically want the app to be downloadable from play store and app store and the notifications to be push notifications, no sms no email.
I read a fair bit about PWA but it seems that there are problems with push notifications on iOS? Also, I don`t know if its possible for PWA to be downloadable from app stores? Some say yes some say no.
Can you clarify this two aspects to me if you can? So I can send the customer an estimate based on the information I gather.
