I’m taking the mcat on July 26th and I’m still behind on my scores but I have some pretty decent extra curriculars but I have no clinical hours and roughly 30 shadowing hours. I do have around 300 volunteer hours for junior tennis leagues.
My ec’s include:
Fraternity Finance chair 2 years and President 1 year Omicron delta kappa member Order of Omega Finance Chair 1 year Interfraternal Council Finance chair 2 years Gamma Sigma Alpha Secretary 1 Year Future Physicians Club VP 1 year Student Athletic Advisory Council representative 3 years Orientation Leader 2 Years Writing lab instructor 1 year (for 1 credit hour) Selected to attend a Leadership academy through my fraternity (nationally credited) Tennis Team Captain (a few sport related awards) SGA senator 1 year
I’m also a Biochemistry Pre-Health major with a 3.96 Gpa. Made a b in physics 1 and an A in physics 2.
Sorry for the long winded post but I’m concerned about my mcat score and while I plan on shooting for a 516 I was wondering if my extensive ecs may give me a little leeway on my score? Could I possibly get into and MD program with a 507ish score if I fail my expectations?

2024.05.21 05:59 Holiday-South-6249 Too Much Negative, Not Enough Positive

I've only been a teacher for a few years and I teach in an elementary school in one of the lowest-rated states in the U.S. While this is bad enough in itself, I've noticed a CRAZY amount of negativity at my school. I'm typically a pessimist myself, and I like to keep to myself outside of purely professional matters like meetings with my co-teachers or admin, so it didn't really bother me until this year. My school, having noticed the crazy negativity throughout the school, as well as tons of teachers leaving each year, finally decided to create a teacher advisory council where teachers could bring to attention problems they found with the school and propose ways to solve them. The thing is, this council has done nothing but fan the flames among the school. Each time a questionnaire is sent out and the council chair sends out the results before the next meeting, the document is just FULL of complaints about literally everything - lower grades saying upper grades aren't doing enough for their students, suggestions for dumping more and more work on the newest teachers, complaints about our specials classes, thinly-veiled jabs at teachers of all grade levels (even the ESS teachers!), etc. Literally nothing but vitriol. The in-person meetings are hardly better, but people hold their tongues a little better when they're actually facing each other.
All of this to say, anyone want to share a story of when they moved from a toxic school environment to a better one? I'm sticking with my current school for one more year, but I don't think I can do it anymore after that. I know teachers complain a lot (I am absolutely included in that), but the negativity is so excessive to me. The way everyone is at each other's throats with the excuse of "we want to hold each other accountable!" is scary to me. It's not a work environment I expect anyone would enjoy working in - I swear my mother's law office has more fun, and likes each other more, than we do!

2024.05.21 02:28 onex7805 Fixing Attack of the Clones as it is, making the already existing concepts and ideas work

This is not a plan for my REDONE project, but just an idea I had while I was rewatching Attack of the Clones and making some changes to Episode 2 REDONE.
A lot of influences and ideas Lucas had for Attack of the Clones were sound: a blooming love story within the political backdrop at the center of the civil war, Palpatine using the war to gain power, Anakin's disillusionment with the ways of the Jedi, a hidden web of conspiracies setting for the war, and Dooku as this Jedi renegade who has defected to the Separatists. It has a lot of cool ideas, which is why frustrating the film fumbles at materializing them.
Aside from the romance between Anakin and Padme, the major failing of Attack of the Clones is that Lucas fails to show the turmoil of people of the galaxy, which would create a condition for Palpatine to rise. It is part of the reason why the politics in this movie is so boring because it doesn't dramatize the politics. Game of Thrones showed the general audience can get into a political epic.
So I decided to make a new outline, one that is faithful to Lucas' vision, ideas, and influences, while fleshing them out to make a more coherent story, also taking some cues from The Empire Strikes Back.
I also borrowed from and built upon the AOTC fixes I have done in the past:
https://old.reddit.com/fixingmovies/comments/qoftgq/in_attack_of_the_clones_padm%C3%A9_should_have_been/
https://old.reddit.com/fixingmovies/comments/z5m5wf/in_the_dooku_duel_in_attack_of_the_clones_obiwan/
Crawl:
The galaxy is falling asunder. Thousands of solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Galactic Republic to create the CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS.
This Separatist movement, supported by various conglomerates like the TRADE FEDERATION, mercilessly strikes back the crumbling Republic with the mass-produced Droid Armies.
Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, is arriving at Alderaan to discuss the critical issue of granting Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers to assist the overwhelmed Jedi....
Alderaan:
The story begins with the right dab in the middle of the massive war that is yet to be called the "Clone Wars". We see Padme Amidala, now a Senator, arriving with her aide Cordé at the beautiful planet of Alderaan. After the Battle of Naboo, Padme Amidala became sort of a star--a prominent voice against the Separatist tyranny--but she is adamant against the Emergency Powers Act. This act is an amendment to the Galactic Constitution, which will grant Palpatine limitless powers, including bypassing the Senate to create a standing army to fight the Separatists. She meets Senator Bail Organa, the representative of Alderaan. Alderaan is a major progressive voting block, and Padme is here to unify the opposition against the constitutional amendment before the Senate votes on it. She has enough clouts and popularity to stop the amendment. Bail agrees with her that the emergency powers could be authoritarian, but he believes in the necessity of a centralized standing army.
As they discuss this matter, with Padme saying, "The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it", the meeting is adjourned abruptly when a city-wide alert is raised. They look outside to witness the Separatist battle fleet filling the sky, blinding the sunlight, and beginning a massive invasion of Alderaan. We switch to Count Dooku on the Separatist battleship (at this point, we don't see his face and learn his name), who reports to the hologram of his Master Darth Sidious that he has caught Senator Padme Amidala in the basket. Sidious smiles, "Good, good..."
Unknown Planet somewhere in the Outer Rim Territories:
Meanwhile, we switch to the battlefield on the other side of the galaxy. The local planetary military, under the command of the local government, is retreating from the relentless Droid Army. The Republic is continually losing the war, and we see the ineffectiveness of the planetary forces. Here, we see Anakin and Obi-Wan are commanding the withdrawal of their troops. Realizing some of the Republic forces are pinned down and on the verge of annihilation, Anakin disobeys Obi-Wan's orders to go to save the troops alone. In an act of courage, Anakin manages to save the troops and returns. As the Republic forces retreat, Obi-Wan scolds Anakin. With this, we understand Anakin's character--reckless but selflessly cares for his friends--and see his relationship with his Master Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan is struggling as a Master to Anakin Skywalker. This is because Obi-Wan didn't take Anakin because he has a connection with him. He was entrusted out of obligation and duty for his dead Master Qui-Gon Jinn (whose name does not even get mentioned in the movie). So obviously, it is no wonder their relationship seems broken. Anakin feels attachments and all the emotions the Jedi Code forbids. He thinks Obi-Wan is too strict and cold--only one-minded about missions and duties.
Coruscant:
As the Jedi head to Coruscant, Anakin has a nightmare of her mother Shmi Skywalker. She's still trapped on Tatooine as a slave, and he wonders what happened to her.
Anakin returns to Coruscant to earn a decoration for his service by the Jedi Council. Master Dooku, is seated as one of the prominent members of the Council (so it can be an actual twist when Dooku is later revealed to be a bad guy). He is on good terms with Obi-Wan and Anakin since he was Qui-Gon Jinn's Master. Chancellor Palpatine is here, too, congratulating Anakin for his heroic effort. Palpatine suggests giving Anakin a reward. Anakin asks for a leave to return to Tatooine to see his mother. Much to Anakin's dismay, the Council rejects this on the grounds that the Jedi should let go of their past and attachments. The Jedi, especially Padawans, are strictly under the discipline with no autonomy. They cannot go anywhere they want. Instead, Dooku decides to give Obi-Wan and Anakin a non-combat mission as a prize, which is to find Padme. The Alderaanians are currently unable to reach Padme. Their mission is to find her and bring her back safely.
Regards to the hotly controversial emergency powers, the Jedi Council, like the public, is divided on this issue. Obi-Wan and Dooku are supportive of the amendment. Both show their distaste toward the Senate and the politicians in handling the crisis, "Don't forget she's a politician. They're not to be trusted", "It's been my experience that Senators are only focused on pleasing those who fund their campaigns... and they are more than willing to forget the niceties of democracy to get those funds". This is why they are shown to be very much supportive of Palpatine's controversial policies that can be perceived as authoritarian. Palpatine gets stuff done. In contrast, Anakin is apolitical--he never cared about politics.
Alderaan:
Anakin and Obi-Wan depart to a ravaged Alderaan. The battle is ongoing, and the Alderaanian forces seem to be unable to beat back the Droid Army. Here, the Jedi meet Senator Bail Organa for the first time, who is overseeing the Alderaanian forces. The battle resembles the Civil War battle from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, in which both sides are dug in the trenches and unable to penetrate each other's defense line. Bail informs the Jedi that Padme's emergency powers talk was held in Aldera in ruins, currently occupied by the Separatists, and she would be stuck there--under their captive or hidden out of the enemy sight. The Separatists are entrenched in Aldera--a city protected by a massive energy shield. Bail informs the Jedi that they are on schedule and under their continued bombardment of the city, the enemy shields would be overwhelmed in a further month. Both Jedi are stunned, but they have no choice.
In the enemy stronghold in Aldera, we quickly learn why Dooku gave the assignment to find Padme to Anakin and Obi-Wan. It's because the Separatists are unable to find Padme, who seemingly has disappeared. If she had been rescued by the Republic, she would be on the news, which means she is still somewhere in Aldera. Dooku reports to the hologram of his Master that he cannot find Padme. Dooku is then Force-choked by his Master. Dooku pleads to his Master, promising him that he will get her.
Meanwhile, the Alderaanian troops watch the HoloNet broadcast of the current Senate session. As a major progressive voting block, Alderaanians and Senator Bail Organa used to be against granting emergency powers to the Chancellor, but this invasion has changed their mind. Palpatine has firmly established himself as a wartime Chancellor. Through the hologram, Bail Organa gives a speech in favor of the amendment and votes for it, which sways the rest of the Senate to his side. The amendment has passed. Palpatine says, "I love democracy. I love the Republic. Once this crisis has abated, I will lay down the powers you have given me!"
Meanwhile, a week has passed, and the trench warfare is ongoing. In Aldera, Corde--Padme's body double--is helping Padme hide in the underground subway tunnel. Corde leaves to get her more food and water but is then caught by the droids. The droids present her to Dooku. Corde is shocked to find that Jedi Master Dooku is the leader of the Separatist movement Dooku raises his hands and unleashes the Force lightning to torture her to open her mouth to locate Padme.
The newly created "Grand Army of the Republic" has arrived at Alderaan, wearing shining white armor. They are welcomed enthusiastically by the Alderaanian forces. Obi-Wan is surprised that the standing army has already been dispatched to warfare, so he tries to talk with them, but they seem... "different".
Anakin arrives, bearing "lunch", a cloth full of live insects and worms, which he casually reports he got from inside the CIS base after discovering an underground entrance into the city, running through the sewers beneath the protective shield. Obi-Wan scolds Anakin for being reckless. While the new Republic army installs the even more powerful cannons to bombard of the shield above ground, Anakin guides Obi-Wan the way through the sewers and into the underground levels of the city. Obi-Wan suspects Padme is dead at this point, but Anakin can sense her, due to the strong bond they formed during The Phantom Menace--he can feel she is holding his japor snippet tight. From there, they make their way to the shield generator chamber. Anakin wants to fight the droids, but Obi-Wan stops him. Obi-Wan simply blows up the shield generator by using small spherical bombs and pointing out that there are alternatives to fighting. With the shield down, the white-armored Republic troopers begin a full-scale attack on the city.
As Corde finally confesses to Dooku where Padme is hiding, the droids rush in to inform Dooku that the shield is deactivated. Dooku orders the droids to go after Padme while hurrying to flee.
The battle of Aldera is chaotic. The Republic troopers are aggressive and far more competent than the local planetary forces, dispatching the battle droids. Anakin rushes into the Separatist-ran POW camp alone to search for Padme. Instead, he finds a dying Cordé. She apologizes to Anakin, disheartened in thinking she had failed her duty to her mistress. She tells Padme is hiding in the underground subway tunnel of Aldera, and in her last grasp, tells him that Dooku is behind the Separatists. Anakin initially does not believe her, but there is no time to go and tell Obi-Wan about this. Anakin races to the underground tunnel. While Obi-Wan is looking for Anakin, he stumbles on the two corpses of the Republic troopers, whose helmets are cracked. He takes a closer look and discovers that these troopers have identical faces.
Anakin finds Padme, who has been hiding all these years. At first, she doesn't recognize him, for he has grown so much. Anakin is glad that she kept her word about keeping his japor snippet. However, the battle droids are rushing into the tunnel, and they both flee. Obi-Wan comes to rescue them. When Anakin is about to inform him of the last words of Padme's body double, "Master" Dooku is standing alongside Obi-Wan, listening to Anakin. Dooku asks him to hand Padme over to him. Anakin refuses, saying that he will be the one taking her to Coruscant. Obi-Wan allows him, for Anakin has been missing Padme for a long time. Anakin and Padme board his ship and leave Alderaan in haste.
Obi-Wan turns to Dooku to inform him that all Republic troopers are clones. Dooku pretends to be surprised. Bail suggests looking into Kamino--the civilization highly proficient in cloning technology.
Coruscant:
This is where Anakin and Obi-Wan's storylines diverge in two. Obi-Wan and Dooku arrive at Coruscant and visit the Archives. Kamino doesn't show up in any data. Dooku says, "If an item does not appear in our records, it does not exist!" Dooku heads off, and Obi-Wan is not satisfied.
Obi-Wan visits Yoda currently training Younglings. The scene goes the same as the film's, except at the end, Master Dooku barges into the room and says Anakin has still yet to be returned to Coruscant with Padme. Yoda predicts Anakin must have gone to Tatooine. Obi-Wan is frustrated with his apprentice, complaining that Anakin is too reckless and refuses to obey his command.
Obi-Wan: "I realize now what you and Master Yoda knew from the beginning... the boy was too old to start the training and..."
Yoda: "Obi-Wan, have faith that take the right path he will."
Yoda surprisingly asks Obi-Wan to trust his apprentice rather than control him. This makes Obi-Wan rethink his relationship. In order to bridge the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan's arc is that he must see Anakin as a man and respect him. Obi-Wan forms a connection with him by understanding Anakin's point of view ("What I told you was true, from a certain point of view."). Obi-Wan realizes maybe the Jedi Code is too rigid, and a sense of duties and obligation alone can't make one a great Jedi. This character arc lends well to The Clone Wars TV series and Revenge of the Sith, in which Obi-Wan evolved into a more quippy, light-hearted character who has a drastically different personality from TPM and AOTC. Both Anakin and Obi-Wan would become more understanding of each other, and as a result, their clash at Mustafar becomes more heartwrenching.
Anyway, Yoda orders Obi-Wan to go to Kamino to investigate the Clone Army. Dooku, learning where Padme has gone, smiles. He contacts and sends his army of bounty hunters to Tatooine. Jango Fett is not the only bounty hunter Dooku hired. Dooku orders them to use Anakin's mother Shmi Skywalker as bait.
Kamino:
From here, Obi-Wan's plotline is pretty much identical to the film's. He investigates Kamino, learns it was the Jedi Master who ordered the creation of the clone army for the Republic to prepare for the war, figures out that the bounty hunter Jango Fett is the genetic template for the clones, then Obi-Wan fights and chases him to Geonosis.
Geonosis:
There, Obi-Wan discovers Dooku in the middle of the conversation with the Separatist leaders. He realizes Dooku is the true mastermind of the Separatist Confederacy, and the new Separatist army is amassing to attack the Republic systems.
Tatooine:
For Anakin's co-occurring storyline, it is also largely similar. Anakin and Padme discuss politics and democracy, and Padme's ideals. Anakin sees politics as a simple matter, "That sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me", "Well, if it works...", as well as discussing Anakin's frustration with the Jedi Code. Anakin hates the Separatists because the slaver guilds have allied themselves to the Confederacy. Anakin keeps having a nightmare of her mother, and now she is dying in his dream.
Later, Padme awakes to find out that the ship has landed on Tatooine, not Coruscant. She is upset and argues with Anakin. He lied to her. He finally reveals what he learned about Dooku and says Tatooine is the safest location. Anakin believes the Jedi Council is compromised and can't trust it anymore, though Padme knows that is not the only reason. It is partially for Anakin to meet his mother again. His former owner Watto reveals that he sold Shmi to a moisture farmer named Cliegg Lars, who then freed and married her. They then get the Lars family, who tell Anakin that the Tusken raiders have abducted Shmi just recently. Padme allows him to leave her and track down the Tuskens, for she will be safe under the guard of the Lars family.
Anakin locates the campsite where one of Dooku's bounty hunters, having paid the Tuskens to kidnap Shmi, is torturing her in a tent. When the bounty hunter leaves, Anakin frees Shmi, who dies in his arms. The bounty hunter returns to the tent and is quickly apprehended by an enraged Anakin. Anakin "forces" him to make him confess who hired him. The bounty hunter says it is Dooku, and Anakin kills him after confirming his suspicion. Hearing the noise, the Tusken raiders surround the tent. Anakin massacres the entire tribe. Now, Anakin has personal stakes in defeating Dooku, and facing him is crucial in Anakin's arc in the story, unlike how he had no idea who Dooku even was in the film.
Anakin returns to the Lars homestead and finds out that the Lars family is held hostage by Dooku's bounty hunters. Anakin fights the bounty hunters to free Owen and Beau, but Cliegg is murdered. Despite Anakin's best efforts, the bounty hunters escape Tatooine with Padme to Geonosis. Anakin feels guilty about forsaking his duty and leaving her to the homestead.
Anakin races back to his ship, on which Anakin receives the message from Obi-Wan warning the Republic and the Council about Dooku and the imminent Separatist attack on the Republic. Anakin contacts the Council about what happened to Padme. Mace Windu orders Anakin to return to Coruscant. Don't do anything out of impulse. The Council will take care of it. Trust in the Council's judgment. Here, Anakin is facing two paths. Be a good, little, nice Jedi, and follow the Council's order, or chase after Dooku to save Padme and Obi-Wan. This is the point at which Anakin tests his resolve. Anakin makes a decision to go against the Jedi code (Attachment is forbidden) and get to Geonosis alone.
Geonosis:
Obi-Wan is held captive while Dooku comes along. Instead of Dooku revealing there is a Dark Lord of the Sith controlling the Republic (there is no reason for Dooku to spill the beans here), the confrontation with Dooku forces Obi-Wan to grow out of Qui-Gon Jinn's death. He should face the fact that his Master's Master has turned to the dark side because of the strict Jedi Code and the Republic's corruption. After all, Obi-Wan investigated the clone army, which was apparently commissioned by a member of the Jedi Council. And then the Republic will use the clone army--this immoral slave force--in the war. Then Dooku persuades Obi-Wan to join him. They both agree that they are dissatisfied with the ways the Republic and the Jedi Order handle things, so maybe Obi-Wan can see Dooku's point of view. Dooku should be a personification of what Anakin COULD become, concerning Obi-Wan that Anakin can succumb to the same fate as Dooku. This motivates Obi-Wan to gain some understanding with his apprentice Anakin.
From this point, the story is nearly identical to the movie. Anakin fights the Geonosians in the factory but also gets captured. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme are pushed to the execution arena (don't have Anakin and Padme kiss here) and fight the beasts. The Jedi Knights arrive to rescue.
Here's the crucial difference. Instead of Padmé safely boarding the gunships and escaping the arena battle with the Jedi and the clones, she gets captured by Dooku during the arena fight. Dooku holds Padmé as a hostage and announces it to the Jedi, stopping the arena battle. Dooku says he will kill her if the Jedi continue resisting. Anakin insists they should surrender, however, all the Jedi glance at each other and arrive at the same conclusion: they will fight. This fuels Anakin's resentment toward the Jedi.
At the last moment, the clones arrive, blasting and destroying the battle droids. Dooku takes Padmé and flees. He has another idea of what to do with her. The clones and the Jedi escape, and the Battle of Geonosis begins. Now, there are personal character-related stakes for Anakin. Anakin is adamant about chasing Dooku from the start of the battle. The battle is now an obstacle for Anakin to catch up with Dooku, blocking the gunship's path. Instead of the conflict between Anakin and Obi-Wan on the gunship being "stop the gunship to rescue Padmé fell on the desert", which ends up pointless in the story, now, the conflict is that Obi-Wan believes this is a trap to lure Anakin. Obi-Wan shouts at Anakin not to follow Dooku. But angered by the other Jedi's lack of care for Padmé during the arena fight, Anakin ignores his warning and heads to rescue Padmé alone.
Catching up to Dooku in the hangar, Anakin finds that Dooku is holding Padme captive. Dooku taunts Anakin by holding Padme in the air with the Force choke, which echoes what Anakin does to Padmé in Revenge of the Sith. Now, Anakin's rashed charge at Dooku makes more sense because there is a clearer trigger for Anakin to act this way. Dooku hurls Padmé away, and the lightsaber fight commences. During the duel, Dooku reveals that he is the one who ordered to torture of his mother. Anakin gets all the more angry and impulsive, and predictably, gets his hand chopped off.
Instead of Yoda arriving late to save Anakin, it should have been Obi-Wan arriving late. In the movie, you get a supposedly "Master versus Apprentice" dialogue between the two, and you don't feel anything because you don't even know Dooku was Yoda's apprentice beforehand. Yoda vs Dooku was not built up, but Obi-Wan vs Dooku was built up. This is a student of the student going against the old Master, and these two characters having the dialogue makes more sense.
The fighting between Obi-Wan and Dooku is fierce but cut short when Dooku brings down a pillar over Anakin, forcing Obi-Wan to break off his attack to save him. Dooku then moves to his escape ship, forcing Obi-Wan to make a choice: a mission--that is stopping Dooku and ending the entire Clone Wars--or Anakin's life. Sacrificing a few to save the many. Although Obi-Wan should pick the first option as a Jedi Knight of the Republic, he eventually chooses Anakin's life. Dooku escapes.
Coruscant:
After the battle, Dooku arrives at Coruscant to meet Sidious as in the film, but Dooku reports one more thing to Sidious. He says that Anakin has fallen to the dark side for the girl.
Coruscant is currently holding a massive military parade through the city, resembling Roman Triumph, to celebrate the victory over Geonosis, while Palpatine is publically revealing the existence of the clone army. The citizens love Palpatine and see the hope that the Republic might win the war. The Jedi will also join the parade, with each Knight leading a battalion of clone troopers.
Preparing to be part of the parade, Anakin and Obi-Wan, for the first time in the story, have a heart-to-heart conversation, not a rigid Master-Student lecture. Anakin realizes he has been too reckless. His brash act of confronting Dooku alone costs him his arm and he apologizes to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan then gives some respect to Anakin, for he has successfully protected Padme. In a way, Obi-Wan and Anakin go through the opposite character arcs. Obi-Wan changes from someone who supports Palpatine and, as he discovers the hidden conspiracies, to someone who is now against him and his emergency powers. Anakin, after witnessing what Dooku has done to his mother, is now looking for blood and vengeance against the Separatists--staunchly supporting more authoritarian measures to fight the war. This change goes alongside Anakin's embrace of more radical emotions.
Before Anakin and Obi-Wan depart to join the parade, Obi-Wan senses love between Anakin and Padme. Secretly, Padme kisses Anakin for the first time (No marriage as it comes across as too abrupt at this point).
As the Jedi march alongside the clone troopers, Obi-Wan secretly discusses with his Masters in the line his finding that it was likely Dooku who ordered the creation of the clone army for the Republic. Yoda and Mace Windu warn them to not reveal this secret to anyone else. They discuss if Dooku is the mysterious Sith Lord (Maul's Master) they were looking for... or maybe Dooku is the new apprentice of this mysterious Sith Lord. If there is another Sith Lord, he could be residing within the Republic's power structure. They found themselves fighting another war inside the Republic.
Palpatine oversees the parade from the top, while the citizens of the Republic cheer. Anakin gladly pledges his loyalty to the most powerful Chancellor in history, while Padme watches the parade with visible frustration as her efforts to stop Palpatine's emergency powers have utterly failed.
I tried to keep the general story elements the same. I focused on fixing what was already in the story rather than discarding it. I fleshed out the characters to be more active and get to have more choices in the decisions. The politics are more integrated into the character drama rather than being in the background. The character arcs for Anakin and Obi-Wan are clearer, with the climax concluding each arc. Instead of Anakin and Padme hiding on Naboo and just playing the patty cake for half of the film, the story is more aggressive and focuses on the war itself. Dooku's concept is utilized to the fullest as he manipulates the Jedi from within and firmly establishes him as Anakin's arch-villain. Padmé falling in love with Anakin makes more sense because she sees how far Anakin is willing to go to save her, especially in the climax. Anakin earns her love, not handed out to him. The romance is constantly developing to the end.
The qualm with the outline is how Anakin finds Padme in Aldera. Dooku sends Anakin and Obi-Wan to Alderaan so that they can find her for Dooku, only for Dooku to go to Alderaan himself and torture Padme's body double to learn about where Padme is. Dooku sending the Jedi then becomes pointless anyway. Another problem is that Padme only meets Anakin at the midpoint, so she doesn't interact with Anakin all that much, and the relationship doesn't get enough time and development.
Aside from those issues, I found the final outline to be more satisfying and tighter in my Episode 2 REDONE. Maybe sometime later someone would do a full rewrite treatment based on this outline lol.

2024.05.21 02:12 Kapples14 A New Era: Rockefeller Administration, Second Term (1969-1973)

A New Era: Rockefeller Administration, Second Term (1969-1973)

Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller: 40th President of the United States of America (1965-present), 49th Governor of New York (1959-1964), 1st Under Secretary of Health, Welfare, and Education (1949-1951).
Election Results: Despite many pundits expecting the presidential election to be a close race, President Rockefeller would come to win the presidency in a historic landslide victory. Carrying one of the largest electoral victories since Charles McNary's 1932 victory. The president would also find success in flipping the Democrat-held states of Minnesota and Massachusetts. This would come due to a widespread dissatisfaction with Democratic nominee Sam Yorty's campaign and poor relations with progressive and black voters, as well as numerous Democratic politicians publicly denouncing Yorty in favor of Rockefeller. Rockefeller's victory would also make him the first Republican president to win a second since Fiorello La Guardia won his 1944 bid.
Despite being able to carry the electoral vote of several Deep Southern states like Arkansas and Louisiana, Constitution Party candidate John M. Ashbrook would severely underperform at the ballots due to a lack of ballot access in a large number of states, a lack of support from the GOP, and a lack of a strong-enough national presence.
the Republican incumbent would celebrate his victory even further after learning that the Republicans retook the House and Senate, leaving him with a GOP-controlled Congress to further his political agenda.
At the start of the 91st Congress, the Republicans would elect House Minority Leader Gerald Ford as the newest Speaker of the House, with Representatives Richard H. Poff and John Jacobs Rhodes assuming the roles of Majority Leader and Minority Leader, respectively.

Background: President Rockefeller's second term would be mired with the increasing complications of now trying to end the Vietnam War, economic struggles, the departure of numerous White House officials and advisors, balancing his pursuits of environmentalism with appeasing conservative leaders, and handling the continued protests of his administration's handling of the war.
While Rockefeller would remain a well-respected figure by most Americans, his popularity with youth and progressives would slowly begin to decline yet again without an opposing candidate to compare himself against. With his focus on ending the Vietnam War consuming much of his time, he would begin looking towards Vice President Hiram Fong in order to provide him with a key domestic leader and likely successor in the upcoming 1972 election.
While Rockefeller would celebrate major successes in environmental protections, strengthening diplomatic practices, and the landing of the Apollo 11 on the moon, he would suffer from numerous criticisms over his handling of the Vietnam War. These controversies would only worsen due to the infamous release of the Pentagon Papers, exposing a history of malpractice by numerous presidential administrations regarding the Vietnam War.

Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller: 40th President of the United States of America (1965-present), 49th Governor of New York (1959-1964), 1st Under Secretary of Health, Welfare, and Education (1949-1951).

President: Nelson Rockefeller
-----------------------------------------------------
Vice President: Hiram Fong
Chief of Staff: C.A. Robins (1967-1969) Dick Cheney
Secretary of State: John J. McCloy (1965-1968) George Schultz (1968-present)
Secretary of the Interior: William Knowland (1965-1969) Russell W. Peterson (1969-present)
Secretary of Agriculture: Allan Hoover (1968-present)
Attorney General: Elliot Richardson
Postmaster General: Robert Corbett
Secretary of the Treasury: C. Douglass Dillon (1965-1970) Paul McCracken (1971-present)
Secretary of Commerce: Mark Hatfield (1965-1970) Frederick B. Dent (1970-present)
Secretary of Labor: Whitney Young
Secretary of Defense: Robert A. Lovett (1967-1969) John L. McLucas (1970-present)
Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare: Florence P. Dwyer (1965-1969) Caspar Weinberger
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Norris Poulson (1966-present)
Secretary of Transportation: William M. Allen (1966-present)
Ambassador to the League of Nations: Ralph Hauenstein (1967-present)
---------------------------------------------------

Government: The Senate would officially repeal the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution on June 24th, 1970. While Rockefeller would express dissatisfaction with the move in how it would hinder his ability to manage the war, he would recognize the importance of limiting the president's wartime powers through such diplomatic measures.
On August 12th, 1970, the president would sign the Postal Reorganization Act. After working with Congress and Postmaster General Corbett, President Rockefeller would unveil his plans to reorganize the postal system. The act would grant the Post Office financial and operational independence from the government, as well as give postal workers the power to unionize and bargain for better wages and hours.
The Emergency Employment Act of 1971, passed on July 12th of that year, would appropriate $1.2 billion towards the creation of 150,000 throughout the fiscal year. The act would also give favor towards veterans, recovering drug addicts, and unskilled youths; thus, ensuring that three major blocks heavily impacted by unemployment and poverty would be able to find work under the legislation. These jobs would come from the public service fields, providing new workers for prisons, environmental organizations, public safety groups, sanitation, and more.

Economy & Labor: With reports of rising inflation, President Rockefeller would begin formulating a complex plan to curb the rising costs through extending the surtax, budget cuts with heavier emphasis on military spending, and moderating the wage demands of labor groups.
On December 29th, 1970, President Rockefeller would sign the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1970, creating new federal regulations that would ensure the standardization and enforcement of proper safety practices in the workplace. The move would be lauded by labor organizations as a great advancement for the safety of America's working class.
President Rockefeller would sign the Par Value Modification Act on April 3rd, 1972, officially devaluing the U.S. dollar in order to begin stabilizing the economy. The realignment would seek to make American exports more attractive to foreign markets, expand the reach of America's agricultural and industrial products across seas, and create new high-paying jobs across America's industrial and agricultural industries. It would also authorize a direct change of the worth of gold to rise from $35 an ounce to $38.

Foreign Policy: On July 25th, 1969, President Rockefeller would present what he called "The Rockefeller Doctrine" during a visit to Guam. This doctrine would articulate how the U.S. would provide economic and military assistance to nations in order to fend off Communist forces, but would not assume primary responsibility in defending Asian nations. This Guam visit would become part of a tour that the President and Vice President would make including the countries of India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
On May 20th, 1970, President Rockefeller and Secretary of State George Schultz would arrive in Russia to begin forging diplomatic relations with the U.S.S.R., meeting with General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. Rockefeller would address this meeting as a necessary goal in deescalating the decades of tension between the U.S. and the Soviets, hoping that stronger diplomatic affairs would have a greater effect against communist forces than meddling in the civil affairs of other countries.

Vietnam War: With high expectations towards an end to the Vietnam War, the president would announce his goal to end U.S. involvement in the war before his term ends. This would first start with threats of advanced bombing campaigns on the North in response to any continuation of the Tet Offense, drawing further ire from anti-war activists. Things would drastically change, however, when on May 14th, 1969, President Rockefeller announced his vision for a peace plan with the U.S. and North Vietnam removing troops from South Vietnam over the next year. This would start with the U.S. removing 25,000 American troops from the active conflict.
A controversial move during the war would come when the U.S. and South Vietnam pulled a surprise bombing on Cambodian lands on March 20th, 1969, with the intent of destroying North Vietnamese strongholds. Many within the Democratic Party would condemn the move as a reckless endeavor that would have potentially escalated the war via Cambodia's involvement. President Rockefeller would retaliate against these remarks by arguing that the Cambodian government was already involved in the war by aiding North Vietnam.
In a diplomatic move, President Rockefeller would fly to the capitol of North Vietnam in September of 1969, one of several trips the president would make to the Vietnamese countries, in order to pay his respects in light of the passing of Ho Chi Minh. Despite the many attempts at creating a strong peace negotiation, President Rockefeller would make an Address to the Nation on November 3rd, 1969, solemnly declaring that North Vietnam has rejected the president's peace offerings. After another year of the militaristic stand-off, Rockefeller would make a surprise announcement in early January of 1971 that the U.S.'s involvement in the Vietnam War was reaching its end. This claim would be certified when the Senate passed a near-unanimous decision in June 22nd, 1971 to pull out all U.S. troops from Vietnam by the end of the year.

Civil Rights: President Rockefeller would seek to further support the pursuit of civil rights by creating new regulations towards the desegregation of elementary and secondary schools, as well as working to negotiate new busing policies within the South that would better aid black and Hispanic youths. It would empower the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to take such enforcement actions against businesses, individuals, employers, and labor unions found to be violating said laws. The amendment would also require employers to make accommodations for the religious practices of employees.
In a major push for equal opportunities, the president would sign the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 on March 24th of that year. The act, serving as an amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, would authorize the federal and state governments with the power and responsibility of enforcing anti-discrimination within the workforce by cracking down on employment discrimination against minority groups.

Major Accomplishments: On July 20th, 1969, the U.S. would define human history when they successfully landed two astronauts on the moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin would become the first men to stand on the moon, with each of them eventually being awarded the Medal of Freedom by Rockefeller. During a speech regarding the landing, President Rockefeller would give recognition to Presidents Kennedy and Reuther, as well as the many scientists, engineers, computers, and NASA employees who made the feat possible.
On April 22nd, 1970, President Rockefeller would join with House Speaker Ford, Democratic senator Gaylord Nelson, and Interior Secretary Russell W. Peterson, in celebrating the very first national Earth Day. This event would serve as a massive charity event dedicated to uplifting environmental organizations, as well as a massive public litter-cleaning event across New York City.
On December 31st, 1970, President Rockefeller would sign the Clean Air Bill, authorizing the development of federal and state regulations to limit emissions from both stationary and mobile sources.

Major Controversies: On May 4th, 1970, members of the National Guard would shoot and kill four student protestors at the Kent State University in Ohio, with nine more students being wounded during the conflict. This would cause more than 100,000 protestors to gather around numerous government buildings, including the White House. In response to this, the president would condemn the shooting, as well as announcing that the offending officers would be removed from active duty and that the Department of Justice would begin investigating the shooting.
The New York Times would begin publishing a series of reports known as the Pentagon Papers, starting on June 13th, 1970. These papers would detail the secret history of the Department of Defense's activities and reports during the Vietnam War, as well as revealing that the Dirksen, Humphrey, Kennedy, Reuther, and Rockefeller administrations had misled the public regarding the Vietnam War.

2024.05.21 02:11 onex7805 Fixing Attack of the Clones as it is, making the already existing concepts and ideas work

2024.05.20 19:05 SciFiTime Humans Send Just One Ship (Chapter 4)

The engineers aboard the Phoenix, worked tirelessly to analyze the remnants of Vraxian technology, salvaged from the destroyed ships. In a large laboratory, components were laid out on examination tables under powerful scanners and electron microscopes. Early findings showed the materials, and engineering principles utilized, were somewhat more primitive than current human technologies.
Dr. Amina Suleiman peered through a lens at a sample of the Vraxians' plasma conduit system. "The super ceramics, they use for these conduits have a low tolerance for heat fluctuations. A few well-placed blasts, could cause cascading failures throughout their power distribution grids." She made a note on her tablet.
Across the lab, Commander Sara Backman held up a broken piece of armor plating. "Their alloys seem minimally reinforced. With the right penetrating ammunition, we could punch through their defenses like paper. No wonder a few well-aimed shots took out whole ships."
Amina walked over, taking the armor to examine under a scanner. "You're right, the crystalline structure has numerous weaknesses. With these materials in their ships, a single hardened slug could tear through multiple decks. We may be able to exploit that vulnerability tactically if faced with larger forces."
In another section, engineers Chen and Nadine studied a non-functioning plasma cannon, recovered virtually intact from a destroyed enemy ship. "The power modulation and pulsating discharge sequences are elementary. With a little reverse engineering, we can incorporate similar weaponry that appears Vraxian but far surpasses their firepower," commented Chen.
Nadine nodded, making notes on a datapad. "And because their propulsion systems utilize similar plasma jet vectoring, we could adapt stealth drones, to mimic the ionization signatures of smaller Vrax raider ships. Equipped with more advanced scanners and weapons, the drones could sow havoc amongst their formations from within."
Aboard the Phoenix, Commander Aoki oversaw preparations for a top-secret mission. Engineering teams had spent the past month retrofitting a squadron, of small stealth drones to mimic the energy signatures, and flight profiles of Vraxian scout ships. Though less advanced than actual Vraxian vessels, the drones had been outfitted, with sophisticated sensors, scanners, and cloaking technology available.
"Launch the drones, and initiate randomized patrol routes, near the Vraxian frontier."
Aoki ordered. The squadron of small ships detached from the Phoenix, and engaged their engines, disappearing under active cloaking fields.
Over the next few weeks, the stealth drones stealthily surveyed Vraxian space lanes, and outposts, quietly gathering terabytes of tactical data. They observed shipyard operations, mapped new starbases under construction, and decoded long range communication relays. This provided crucial intelligence on Vraxian weapons, defenses, logistics and troop movements.
One drone came across a convoy transporting a new prototype warship for combat trials. It trailed the convoy discreetly, scanning the vessel's systems, and structure in detail. Another encountered an entire battlegroup undergoing training maneuvers. The drone flew between the massive ships undetected, recording combat simulations and tactics.
The intelligence windfall from the drones, was immediately incorporated into Earth's war planning. Analysts identified new weaknesses to exploit, and loopholes in Vraxian defenses.
Military revised simulations, based on the enemy's true capabilities rather than estimates. Engineers gained insights to develop countermeasures, like advanced jammers or plasma lances of their own.
Though risky, the covert drone missions proved highly successful, in gaining a clearer picture of the looming Vraxian threat.
Their findings were compiled, and transmitted to military analysts on Earth, and the lunar network for review. Strategists incorporated the new intelligence, into revised contingency plans, should further conflict with the Vrax Empire become inevitable.
Meanwhile, urgent sessions were underway in the emergency rooms of global defense headquarters. Drone imagery showed, the full scale of industrial mobilization unfolding across Vraxian-held territories. Shipyards and orbital construction yards, swarmed with activity as armaments grew at an exponential rate.
The Chinese Premier shook his head grimly. "Every projection indicates, their arms buildup will eclipse our combined fleet capacities within the year if left unchecked. We must act to gain a strategic edge, before their armadas are complete."
From the Russian base, analysts displayed simulated engagements incorporating the Vraxian technical data from the Phoenix. "Even ambushing half of their known fleet strengths with, we will suffer losses of 30-40% according to these simulations. A war of attrition against such numbers, means eventual defeat."
In New Delhi, the Indian Defense Minister rubbed her temples. "Our industries are working around the clock as resources allow, but the size of their empire dwarfs all terrestrial forces combined. Any delay in deploying countermeasures risks facing a foe, whose very size may overwhelm earths defenses through numbers alone.
"From the Pan-African Alliance delegation, General Adebayo input new variables, accounting for rapid production quotas. "With reserves reallocated from inactive stockpiles, enhanced by scavenged Vrax designs, fleet strength may outpace current projections by 28%, if disbursement stays on schedule. Still, holding ground across three continents, against a total ground invasion could prove untenable."
As defense updates rolled in, the UN General Secretary called for consideration of preemptive strikes, using newly developed prototypes as a show of strength. "Demonstrating our awakened prowess, could force a retreat to the bargaining table, without igniting full warfare that puts billions at risk."
However, China's diplomat objected. "Direct attacks would make pariahs of us all, for starting hostilities first. We must remain in peaceful contact with other species, we don’t want more to join Vrax empire in their crusade against us. Vrax leaders has staked too much pride on vengeance already. We must bolster deterrence through superior defenses alone, and avoid escalating tensions further for now."
A planetary alert signaled then, diverting attention to a new threat. Collected data shoved Vraxian troop movements, amassing near their border frontier in unprecedented numbers, fleets fueling and arming at a feverish pace. Espionage drones detected frantic operations underway, to complete starbases along all strategic hyperspace lanes, and fueling depots at a pace that could only mean one thing.
"They mean to attack in force," realized the Indian strategist with dread. "Not probes or skirmishes, but an invasion armada whose objective can only be total conquest. We are out of time for slower strategies. Our defenses must harden immediately, or the first blows may shatter in pieces."
Grudgingly, a unified plan was launched into chaotic effect. Shipyards plunged into around-the-clock shifts; cornerstone projects accelerated without regard for cost. Every vessel able to fly received a refit, in enhanced shields and weapons. Production quotas were recalibrated higher by emergency decree, as automated factories switched to wartime programs.
On the lunar bases, General Ito monitored deployments with a grim eye. Enhancements to orbital infrastructure, proceeded at a breakneck pace under combined international lending. Sensor arrays expanded, hard laser batteries powered up for the first time. Within weeks, a defensive grid began to take form that could protect the inner system, if completed before invasion day. Reports predicted the Vraxian war machine, would appear above the asteroid belt, to cripple earths supply of raw materials.
Deep within the vaults of closed research bureaus, top scientists streamed in under presidential order. Top secret files were unlocked, revealing projects decades in the conceptual stages that had never reached production. Now every hesitation was discarded, safety protocols ignored in the race to weaponize untested theories, before the clock tolled midnight.
Meanwhile at the Lunar Command Center, Commander Aoki coordinated final preps for the Phoenix, and her newly upgraded squadron. Most were still lacking in proper combat trials, their upgraded systems untested under fire. But with invasion reported to start in only one to two years, no alternatives remained. The fate of billions now rested on ships and crews flung together at the last moment through desperation alone. Only faith in human adaptability, and ingenuity could transcribe hope from these desperate stakes. As the Phoenix and her untested fleet launched for patrol, all humanity watched and prayed, if Vrax Empire could be convinced to turn back, before doomsday arrived at their shores.

2024.05.20 17:07 Agneus [Online] [5e] [18+] [GMT+1] Virtues of Essence - Roleplay Focused Mystery and Lore Driven Forgotten Realms Campaign seeking a replacement player

“What defines virtue and how are we to gauge it? An inquiry that reverberates through epochs, its answer as fickle and capricious as the fates of those who deem to ask it. Duty, honor, justice - many over the ages would name these virtues, the conduits through which noble intentions find expression. Yet, as the battlefield of beliefs unfolds, a legion emerges, each as sworn to these principles as to obliterating all who would dare stake alike claim. Thus, battles rage and wars are waged and, in the end, those who are left are no more right than those fell by the blade. Alas, it is the victors whose ideals are etched into monuments for posterity. Except even words chiseled in unyielding stone are fated to fade in time. So is the wicked cycle destined to repeat in all its futility, its ephemeral prize seized again, only to be lost and sought anew. Try and picture, if for but a moment, a world where our rulers paused to reflect on the lessons of yore. They, too, would discern the elixir that enables one to escape the confines of memory—the very burden our fleeting nature forbids us to carry. Progress and evolution. Adaptability and transcendence. Everlasting and yet not stagnant, irrefutable, and yet fluid, these are the only true virtues. Thus, must we ever venture into the uncharted and unfamiliar for only from these unexplored domains may the truly virtuous arise.”
Where: Discord (Video and Voice) + FoundryVTT
When: every Saturday 5 - 9/10 pm GMT+2 (CEST), 11 am - 3/4 pm EST

Hello there and well met! If you’ve made it past the flavor text (or skipped it) and through the basic info (hopefully didnt skip past that one) you might very well be at the right address! Without further ado onto the post.

🐲The campaign🐲

Having only just recovered from the Second Sundering and the War of the Silver Marches, the North had been ravaged by a whole new set of tumultuous events - the rise of the Cult of the Dragon and that of the Absolute, the Fall of Eltruel and the short reign of the beholder crime lord Xanathar just some among them. After a brief respite from the twisted and the unnatural the clouds once more begin to gather. Along the Long Road, whole hosts of wild beasts and monsters have been accosting travelers seemingly at random and in the grand metropolis of Waterdeep a sudden rise in crime seems to coincide with strange events passing unnoticed beneath the surface. Amidst all this, in spring of 1493 DR, a party of adventurers delves into a mystery of enchanted gemstones being utilized to nefarious ends by unknown perpetrators all the while navigating the labyrinthine twists of city faction politics.
As implied by the post title, this is an ongoing campaign (we are 12 sessions in at the time of this post). Due to some irl commitments weve recently dropped a player and are looking to replace them.
As the title suggests, this is a roleplay focused mystery/lore driven campaign. Expect an overreaching plot with ample secrets to uncover, conspiracies to unravel and eldritch truths to unearth. The first word of the password is "Doth". On the same level of importance or more important even be that the players preference, there is a variety of subplots to engage with, from small and goofy and random to ones rivaling the main story arc in complexity and variance. Among these, individual character story arcs play a leading role, at times seamlessly intertwined with the current focus of the party, at times separate and independent.
As was already mentioned and is further described below, this is a roleplay focused campaign and a roleplay heavy game. This means that roleplay exists as a unifying concept for all other aspects of the game including exploration, combat, and puzzles. That said DnD is only DnD with all three of its main pillars intact and this campaign is no exception in that regard. I very much enjoy the mechanical side of the game as well besides roleplay and so things like multiphase boss fights and custom magic items are definitely on the table.

🧙‍♂️The DM🧙‍♂️

Hello there, Jay here, 25 yo law student from Central Europe currently working on finishing his master’s degree, trying to stay afloat in the current lease market. I study and work in a law firm by day and DM or play DnD by night (more like evening but night sounded cooler). I have been a big fan of TTRPGs since my early teens and of online DnD for the past five years. I’ve DMed multiple campaigns, finished CoS not least among them and I currently play in a long-term campaign. Before you ask, yes, my schedule is strained but not to the point I am unable to engage with my hobbies.
I would describe my DMing style as driven, realistic, and involved but also very conscious about player agency and collaborative storytelling as core values that make TTRPGs so popular and unique. I spend a lot of time ensuring the worlds I create and the stories I want to tell feel alive. From hand-picked music, to fully voiced NPCs and scenic descriptions designed to breathe life into the campaign setting I daresay my games rival in quality those of the professional DMs that charge for each session.
There is a drawback to this all however. Second word of the password is "thy". I expect a lot from my players as well. Writing a story in DnD is not a one person job. It takes a collective effort of the entire group to create something truly unique, something that one can be proud while looking forward to each session. Unwinding and letting off steam means something else for everyone. For me it means losing myself in the creative process of roleplaying an NPC or describing a scene, watching my players masterfully portray their own characters or having the party derail my plans in an awesome unforeseen and unexpectedly enriching way. If you find yourself in any of what I just described than this may be a game for you. If you don’t, that’s fine. This is definitely not a game for everyone.

🏰The setting🏰

Forgotten Realms is a default setting of Dungeons and Dragons but it is anything but boring and mundane. With now decades worth of lore behind it, it offers an unparalleled opportunity for anyone wanting to build on solid foundations to bring their ideas to life. While it has garnered a lot of attention lately with the release of a certain videogame (more people now know Astarion than a good amount of Hollywood celebrities I’d say) it has had its loyal following even before then, being constantly expanded and living its own life in a host of both online and home games. It’s been a natural choice of mine for a while now and not once have I had any regrets. The third word of the password is "mirror". I feel with how great of a variety of content the Forgotten Realms offer everybody is able to pick something that suits their creative vision. In summary the Forgotten Realms almost feel like a real place with how much worldbuilding has been done with them and offer a diversity of content few other TTRPG settings can boast.
When it comes to setting of the campaign in the world of Faerun I have once again made a somewhat traditional pick and decided to place the onset of the game onto the Sword Coast, more precisely into the city of Waterdeep. If one of the key upsides of Forgotten Realms is diversity of content, Waterdeep is one of the best representations of this. Being the largest settlement on the known Faerun, Waterdeep offers nigh limitless options in terms of main story arc genre, character creation and character backstory implementation. It has everything every large TTRPG settlement ought to have (fickle upper class, enigmatic factions, quaint taverns and extravagant nightclubs, always in bad mood city watch, a castle and a harbor) as well as few pretty original ideas such as colossal definitely not alive statues, a city council where even its members don’t know each other’s identity and a massive dungeon right underneath the city where you can literally fall right from a tavern taproom.
In case you are wondering, while this campagn takes place primarily in the city of Waterdeep itself, there is nothing stopping the players from exploring past the city if they so choose. The final word of the password is "crack?". Different parts of the main plot and various subplots can and will encourage the party to explore Waterdeep environs and sometimes even further.

📃The requirements📃

No exceptions here. Unless otherwise stated, the requirements must be met at the time of application.

🙋‍♂️How to sign up🙋‍♀️

Youve made it all the way to the end of this long post. Congratulations. Or maybe you’ve skipped all the way to the end. In that case I strongly recommended you go back. If not to learn what you are applying for than to make sure you haven’t missed something very important. Now if you are confident that you have what it takes and that this is a game that you could have a lot of fun with, please fill the below attached google questionnaire (if for any strange reason the link doesn’t end up working, please let me know in the comments under this post) and if fortune favors you, I shall get back to you promptly. Best of luck to you and I hope to speak to you soon!
https://forms.gle/5kc4RbwavJPfT8PD9
______________________________________
PS: As a part of the questionnaire, you will be asked to submit a short piece of your narrative writing in a form of a google doc link (not a custom piece of writing, any relevant past one you have will do). Maybe best have that ready beforehand? On that note, dont apply for the game with a detailed backstory of a character you want to play that you arent willing to adapt to the conditions of the setting/campaign.
PSS: Not to discourage you but if you do make it through the questionnaire and into the second group of applicants you will be asked to do a discord interview with your webcam turned on. I am asking you to go through a lot for a game you might not even end up liking I know, but if you do end up liking it, all this effort will be well worth it as I am sure my other players would agree.

2024.05.20 05:40 Stingy_Drop AITA for getting frustrated with my dad about stipend money?

I (19m) have had a lot of problems between my divorced parents over the years, and I thought things had mostly calmed down by now but for the past year or so problems are popping up a lot. This post will get long.
Some background: My parents (39f & 39m) divorced a long time ago, back when I was in elementary school. It was very rocky for me when I was younger, as I lived (and still live) primarily with my mom, and she had a lot to learn and figure out about parenting in general, let alone being a single mom and trying to date to put her life together as best she could. Her dad, and my grandfather, was very rough on her when she was younger, and as a result she had a tough time trying to get on her feet and go to college, on top of my parents getting pregnant with me pretty young. After a while, she figured it out, and now I live with my mother, my stepdad (41m), my brother (14m) and a newborn sister who's a little over 2 months old.
I started college last fall at a prestigious & expensive STEM school I've dreamed of attending for a very long time. I had a very rough first year, as I've learned that I'm what people consider a "gifted kid" and never really learned a lot of things integral to learning and studying which made me burnout very fast and get lost easily. I'm going to be doing some personal coaching / therapy to see if I can work on this for this coming fall. Because of the price, my dad was very adamant about my joining an Army ROTC program on campus to earn a scholarship to cover my tuition, and in exchange I will be contracted to serve as an Officer for 8 years; 4 years active duty and another 4 in reserve. My dad is an Army vet and felt that it would be best for me to do, on top of him also having experience enough with the Army to help me. The process of discussing this stressed me out a lot over the summer as a rising freshman, and that's in addition to a lot of pressure from him to join the Air Force or Naval Academies instead of my dream school for the benefits. It stressed me out a lot, and it was very hard for me to articulate my discomfort with the entire thing since my dad basically gave me a recruitment speech for everything and broke it down on the basis of merit and reward rather than what I would be willing and able to do.
After a lot of turmoil between my parents and grandparents (grandfather & grandmother on my moms side who i will refer to as such; grandparent on my dad's side isn't relevant) we got my dad to relent and I committed to my dream school for that year. I also did go along with the ROTC plan since I do need the money, and I have found that for the most part I enjoy being in ROTC. During this time there have also been a lot of other issues but it would be too many to recount here.
Now for my problem.
My dad figured out about a Veterans Affairs rep on my campus, and we filed for a stipend that would pay out money to me as a dependent college student of a veteran. From filing this I would receive $1200 every month during school months.
My grandfather intended on buying me a car following high school graduation, but because of my dorm situation, decided to wait until after my first year of college since I wouldn't be able to use it until then anyway.
My dad discussed with my grandfather about keeping half of my stipend payments (which are wired to his bank account when they roll out at the start of every month) to save and giving me half. His reasoning was that my grandfather can be very difficult to work with sometimes, and he wanted to make a good impression on him by giving him money I would have saved to help cover insurance costs or other related things on the car once my grandfather buys it. The issue I and my mother took with this at first was that I had no say in how they decided things, but at that point I couldn't bring myself to say anything and sort of rolled over to go along with it.
Now, my grandfather is beginning to look for a car for me, but given my situation with finances and other things I ended up covering, I really need that money. I'm hoping for an internship at a company a family friend works at so that I can still have an income over the summer, but there's no guarantee, and I want to have my money accessible to me for what I need, and I trust myself to make sure I have what I need left over to pay for my car for the 2-3 months I will have it before I go back to school and my stipend starts again. I texted my dad about it yesterday, but he gave me a runaround about needing to "play things smart" with my grandfather, asking why my mom doesn't give me the child support money my dad pays her, and telling me that I need to be responsible and make sure that I'm contributing to my car with that money instead of leaving it all up to my grandfather.
I took a major issue because it wasn't my decision. I don't see how I'm being responsible and saving the money for the grandfather when it's in an account I can't access, and my dad was going to be the one giving it to him. I also didn't understand why I was trusted to sign up for the Army but not manage a few thousand dollars to save for car insurance. I wasn't able to properly articulate everything I thought and felt over text, but I questioned a lot of things and talked to my mom about what would be best for me. My dad also wanted me to set up a bank account with Navy Federal, which he uses, since he can instantly transfer the money to me if I really wanted it. I already have a bank account and I saw no reason to make another one. Apparently he wanted to avoid using Venmo so the money wouldn't be classified as income, and he wanted to make sure he could transfer money to me easier and also secure the bank's benefits for me early.
Today, I talked to my grandparents about the situation to see where things stood regarding the car and what money they needed. My grandfather had already called my dad and said I should have the money, and that if I blow it all before he gets the car then it'll be my problem when I can't pay for the insurance. My grandmother agreed with him and that was their stance on it. My mom also texted my dad in this time establishing that he shouldn't ask about a new bank account (he asked about it before and we told him no), and that she felt the need to step in because the situation has been very frustrating for me and I don't know how to approach these kinds of conversations with my dad anyway. He responded very aggressively and rudely and they didn't say anything beyond that.
He eventually came by to give me a check for that money and drop off my brother who had spent the weekend there, and he talked to me about how he felt alienated from me since I wasn't talking to him much over the past few months, being upset that I went to my mother about my problems instead of being a "grown man" and talking to him about it, and fighting so much about the money which gave the impression that I didn't trust him. I had a lot of feelings and thoughts, but I couldn't bring myself to say what I really felt when I spoke to him. I basically ended up saying what I needed and just let him leave.
This whole situation has me very upset, and I'm honestly feeling worse now after I have that money than I did before I asked him for it. I don't understand why I feel this way. I don't understand why it's so hard for me to talk to my dad but I get so nervous and anxious that I just can't be as open with him as I would be with my mom.
I just want help from others who may have experienced this kind of situation before, and to know if I'm going about the situation and/or my relationship with my dad wrong. So, AITA?

2024.05.20 01:28 dafodildaydreams Regression with potty training?

My almost 2.5 year old is very big on imitating peers, and literally the day after her second birthday decided she wanted to start using the potty.
She goes to day care 5 days a week and at the time was one of the younger ones in her class, so we just took her lead and went with it. Fast forward to the last few weeks- she went from being about 98% fully trained, even waking up from naps and sometimes overnight dry, to refusing to even sit on the potty most of the time now! Of course she’s pissed we have her back in pull ups and I’ve caught her a few times taking the pull ups off in defiance lol. And of course it doesn’t bother her when she pees all over our wood floors 🫠
We think her moving up to a new classroom in day care recently has caused the sudden regression. She knows all the kids and staff and has been there since she was an infant, and this is not the first room change, either. But, she also has a mild speech delay (and won’t qualify for summer cpse services unfortunately), which definitely doesn’t help.
Any tips or tricks? Obviously we don’t want to push it and make her fearful or adverse to toileting but we also want to be consistent and support her growth. I’ve potty trained several students over the years, daycare/ preschool age to later elementary, but when it’s your own kid it’s just not that easy! School and home are two totally different places and I’m feeling awful I can’t help her more but also want her to see me as her mom and not like a teacher.

Jump Notes

  1. I wake up in my room in the warehouse apartments, after shutting myself in without even checking the Benefactor's Lounge the night before
    1. I'm still lingering on the frustration of not cracking the riddle of Allabar, and not being able to solve the problem permanently
    2. But there's no going back, so I commit to facing forward for the rest of the week, and head to the Benefactor room
      1. Once again, there are four envelopes with me, and my big chart of jumps up on the wall, like something from a Kindergarten classroom
      2. As I affix a sticker saying "The Fountain (2006)" to the big chart, a small round outline appears next to it: "Biosphere Supplement available"
    3. On my way to call a team meeting, I catch a surprise outside the apartments
      1. Three of our bard graduates are slowly exploring the area
    4. At the team meeting, I announce my intention to go solo on the next jump
      1. The decision isn't popular, but most of them have waited while I've done gauntlets before, so it's not a big shock
    5. We set up the entertainment room to watch the movie, even though I don't expect that meta knowledge will be much help
      1. For the first time, we don't all fit in the Entertainment room
      2. By count, there are eleven of us (me and ten companions), the Halflings are now up to fifteen after two recent births, and we have nine new bards with us, so we set up a second showing in the evening
    6. Finally, before heading in to the jump, I make one last check of the Benefactor's office to see if there's more information on the biosphere supplement, but though my note has been removed, there is no response, and nothing on the tablet
  2. I awake from a deep sleep in a luxurious bed, it is early morning and the sun is still rising
    1. I can feel the absence of my abilities; I am reduced below even bodymod, to the level of a baseline middle-aged man in a world with primitive medicine
      1. Nevertheless, I can feel a gift reaching back in time to me - and as I accept it, I am calmed, no longer distressed by what I have lost
    2. In this time, I have duties, both in the mundane sense of the tasks those around me expect me to perform, as well as a greater sense in which I must try to make this world better
    3. My new gift becomes invaluable in due time
      1. All manner of petitioners and officers come to me with grievances, and each of them are a storm of emotions - no one comes before their Count to declare how satisfied they are with things
      2. In short time, word of my wisdom spreads, and my council is sought by King Ferdinand
    4. I lobby my King with an eye to improving the lives of all involved
      1. It is the lives of ordinary Spaniards that are the measure of his ability as a King, not the mass of his treasury
      2. Colonialism brings with it dangers beyond the obvious, and responsibilities for ages to come
      3. Allowing the priests to destroy artifacts of other cultures does not increase our glory, but diminishes it
    5. Despite my ability to make my case clearly and seemingly overcome all objections, my guidance is rarely heeded when I leave the room
    6. And before long, it seems I have made enemies of those who stand to gain by plundering the New World
      1. They do not discuss the matter with me, or make their displeasure known by facing me down in violence
      2. But as the breath leaves my lungs over dinner, my last thought is that I have been poisoned by a coward
  3. I awake from a fitful sleep in a large bed, my wife still asleep beside me despite the chirping of my alarm clock
    1. My first throught is of the date - It is September 7, 1999 - the first day of fall semester
      1. This will not be my first time teaching CS 101, but this time will be different, I can feel the power in my body, my mind, and my soul
    2. I arrive at my office early, of course, and make sure everything is in order - the syllabus handouts are ready, my slides are in order and proof-read, and my TAs have confirmed their preparedness
      1. The lecure hall is large - so many students sign up for CS 101 without any prior programming knowledge, just to see what it's like, or convinced that they will be a natural
      2. As the students file in, they sparsely occupy the massive auditorium, afraid to sit near people they don't know, not fully understanding that for the vast majority of them, this is their first class on campus, their first opportunity to get to know eachother
      3. I exhort them to move towards the front so they can hear and see better, and a few oblige
      4. The first lecture flows like a breeze, the students hanging on my words as I understand what each one needs to hear to understand what the rest of this semester will hold
    3. By semester's end, the students and TAs are in awe, the CS department chair has asked for my materials and told me that spring registrations for CS102 are higher than ever, both of the student papers have run articles praising my class, and the dean of Arts and Sciences has interceded to clear my spring schedule to prioritize my research work on the condition that I teach 101 again next year
      1. I appreciate my grad students and TAs, but I don't have a real family in this life, so I head into the warehouse for winter break
  4. I awaken rested and enthusiastic on a beautiful spring day
    1. It is graduation day for the first group of freshman I taught after coming to this jump, nearly four years ago
      1. They have come so far, and I'm fortunate that some of the best have continued to work with me, and three of them will be graduate students working under me starting in the fall
    2. It is also the first day of human trials for the drug, a new anti-inflammatory
      1. We were hoping it would treat chronic inflammatory diseases, but early testing suggests that it may significantly reduce hay fever, which would be great if we can mass produce it cheaply
    3. My reputation at the school has skyrocketed thanks to the combination of my groundbreaking research plus my teaching perks ensuring high instructor reviews as well as students learning and retaining more
      1. My tenure process has been fast-tracked, since the dean is rightly concerned about losing me to another institution
  5. I awaken slowly, and awkwardly, as if from a coma, as a cocktail of drugs is released into my body, still restrained on my cryobed
    1. Our vessel, the Cyllene, is essentially a large asteroid with a hole carved in the middle, stuffed with propellent, equipment, supplies, expansive aquaponics facilities, and a relatively tiny living area
      1. Cyllene was said to have nursed and protected Hermes, as this vessel must nurture and protect us, the first observers, and hopefully, colonists,
    2. As my body and mind resume normal function over the course of 90 minutes, I get a slow trickle of updates on the status of the Cyllene and our mission
      1. The mission clock says it's 202 years since we left Earth, but thanks to time dilation, Earth has experienced 221
      2. Computer Block 5 (of 8) is currently undergoing automated reconstruction as the block with the highest error correction rate at the time the last automated reconstruction completed
      3. 1575 individuals are currently in cryosleep, and 25 (including me) are active, all sufficiently healthy
      4. I am still Dr. John Axstrom, revered teacher and groundbreaking computational pharmacologist, but my consciousness seems to have jumped forward a few hundred years, skipping past the development of miracle cures, life extension medications, and cryogenic preservation of humans
    3. As I realign with my memories and identity, I remember why I'm here
      1. If colonization proceeds, the coming generations are going to need exceptional teachers if they are to learn their place in the universe, and I'm one of the best there ever was
      2. Our mission is expected to take about 750 years from departure to arrival, and though the vast majority of that time is spent in cryosleep, we take shifts being "awake" to ensure systems are functioning and keep eachother mentally and physically healthy
    4. Since the monitoring systems will throw a fit if I straight up disappear from the vessel, I take a long ride out to the external "observation" check, out of the range of most of the sensor systems
      1. There's not really much to observe in deep space - it's like the night sky, as the ancients saw it with no light pollution, but from a different perspective
      2. Here I quickly form a stunt double duplicate, hand over my electronics, and duck into the warehouse
    5. The warehouse clock confirms my suspicions - I'm nearly seven years into the jump
      1. Since it looks like this isn't going to take nearly 1000 years, the team hasn't been going full-stasis mode
      2. The bards have been poring over J-Borg's personal library as well as the impressive collection of the warehouse media room
      3. But the reason I came is the Tablet of the Free - I'm stuck on a large but still confined deep-space vessel until my scheduled return to cryosleep - how is that supposed to entertain the boss?
      4. After confirming nothing interesting is in the warehouse, I head back to the observation deck, and stash the portable door I've been using back into hammer-space before re-merging with my stunt double, and taking the long trip back to the living area
  6. I wake up to an unfamiliar synthetic beep - apparently the Cyllene's version of a doorbell
    1. When I open the door, one of my crewmates tells me that our directional antennas have picked up some unusual RF activity that seems to be coming from our destination system, and they want me (as the on-shift programmer) to help the astronomer, comms, and operations staff to help make sense of it, and ensure we're not about to get nuked by a magnetar or something
    2. Initial findings were sparse and inconclusive - just occasional pulses of a signal that must have been very strong and highly directional at the time of transmission, to reach us so far away
    3. But I had access to diagnostic tools that the astrophysicists and comms staff didn't, for all their training and equipment: a series of perks specifically for teasing out the needles of relevance from the haystack of noise
      1. And as I looked at what we were seeing, and what we weren't, the answer became clear: these radio bursts looked just like a primitive form of RADAR
      2. At first my colleagues on the Cyllene were skeptical, but the evidence kept mounting, with 4 additional series of "pings" being detected in the next six weeks
    4. With the spectre of extraterrestrial intelligence hanging over the Cyllene, our XO followed protocol, and ordered the full complement to be wakened from cryosleep to assist in the work to come
    5. Within six months, we had fabricated and installed a much larger purpose-built directional antenna array on the surface of our asteroid hull, and reports of different signals were coming in almost daily
      1. We needed all the extra hands, even our mining and terraforming experts were lending a hand with signal analysis and attempts to form patterns
      2. The whole crew felt the urgency and wondered at the situation - temporally, it would mean that their early experiments with RADAR and initial RF broadcasts would have happened at about the same time as humans did those things on earth, and if they developed at the same rate as us (a big if), they would likely be more advanced when we arrivedd than humans were when we left (and thus the technology of our vessel), and would almost certainly see us coming
    6. The coming months flew past, each bringing further confirmation of suspicious, but with it frustration, as we had been unable to extract a coherent signal - the broadcasts we could pick up didn't appear to be using either amplitude or frequency modulation
      1. More than once I brought signal samples to the warehouse team, but they were just as stumped as us
      2. Even more "esoteric" means didn't work - we tried every variation of "Tongues" and "Comprehend Language" spells on printed, audioized, and even engraved versions of the RF signals we caught, but they all failed and the representations seemed full of too many discontinuities
    7. I could feel my new Inventor's Vision working on the task of how to decode these signals, and about two years after the first pulse was detected, I had my breakthrough
      1. The signals didn't represent continuous audio (like human radio) or even piece-by-piece visuals (like rasterized video), but something of each, and a little weirder
      2. They were composed of many (from seven to three hundred, and not consistent at all) micro-audio clips
      3. It was like making an ultra-low bitrate recordding of the voice of every singer in a chorus individually, and transmitting fifty milliseconds of one, then fifty milliseconds of the next, and so one, in serial, and then starting back again with the first voice
      4. We couldn't figure out why they did this, but once I was able to identify the break points between each "voice", I could layer them on top of eachother to make a composite audio version
      5. And that composite audio could be played, and was a viable candidate for magic translation
    8. The entire vessel went wild when I demonstrated the isolation and recombination of the signals to produce audio
      1. The sound of the thing was somewhat like the sound of multiple birds, frogs, and crickets in a forest, in very brief clips
      2. Of course, I didn't reveal that I had access to magic translation - I figured the comms and signals staff (and the one cryptographer) should have to earn their pay
    9. The remaining year and a half was spent in intense research, for them, while I mostly slacked off and tried to make conversation with the people doing important work on this front, since my actual mission here was to "observe" as humans of this universe underwent a sort of assymmetrical first contact
  7. I awaken in my weird little pod bed in my weird little capsule room for the last time, perfectly aware of the remaining hours in this jump
    1. After the initial excitement died down, the majority of the colonists were put back into cryosleep, with only the decoding specialists and those "on shift" like me staying active
      1. There has been a lot of anxiety around the Cyllene for the last few months - we are clearly a colony ship and the intelligent inhabitants of that system probably do not want to be colonized, and may well be easily capable of destroying us
      2. There were discussions about trying to reverse course and head back to Earth, but we could do that any time, and the closer we get, the more information we can gather about the system and its inhabitants
    2. It would be cruel to try to skim supplies from this vessel even if there were something I wanted aboard, so I just wait my time out, helping where I can and secretly translating any communications we receive when time permits
      1. So far it has all been rather uninspiring, which makes me even more curious what kind of species would develop radio technology but not transmit any fiction or speeches or poetry
    3. When it's almost time, I once again make the long trek out to the Cyllene's observation deck alone, and split off a Stunt Double, who can at least stay here for a month, while I slip into the warehouse
      1. When I enter, J-Borg greets me and informs me of a message at the Benefactor's lounge
      2. The note on the door says "Supplement Pending - please attend as soon as possible", so I go in to check it out
      3. With the choices all locked in, the door unlocks and I head out to meet with the team
    4. With the memories of my time in Spain finally restored, I realize how I had been trying to communicate with myself all along, but failing
      1. The need for calm communcation and education will never end - among our closest neighbors or with a civilization 300 light years away
    5. We have the traditional group dinner in the commons, and discuss what's going on
      1. The team did end up spending most of the time in stasis, and the formerly-newborn halflings are a little over a year now biologically, learning to speak and walk
      2. When I mention the Biosphere supplement and how I wasn't allowed to consult them, they naturally asked when it would apply, but it hadn't even occurred to me that there were now definitely too many of us to wait out warehouse changes in the entrance hall, so I checked with the central control
    6. Afterward, no one was complaining when the doors finally unlocked and we were able to leave the commons hall, only to find that the door led to an outdoor path with a natural-looking sunset on the horizon
      1. I didn't want to spoil the whole setup yet, so I said we could tour in the morning, and turned off a number of the facilities and systems for the night, to give me some time to understand what options were available before letting my companions go wild with them
      2. Fortunately, the obvious items like the tree of life and factory complex were on other islands, that would be difficult to reach without the transport disks running
    7. And then I went to sleep again, wondering what the next awakening had in store for me

Notes on the Fountain Jump Doc

  1. Honestly this doc has been on my to-try list since I saw it - I really enjoyed the movie and gladly rewatched it again when it came up in my random draw.
  2. The author took some liberties with the source material, which makes sense because of how focused on Thomas the story is, and the extensions largely make sense
  3. There were a few confusing things in the jump, such as how you get essences and what powers you bring with you into each phase of the jump, but a close reading makes them clear enough
  4. The jump has a few really standout purchase
    1. the inventor's intention is the answer to a lot of concers that "do-gooder" jumpers are likely to have in their careers
    2. the full tree of life is an amazing item - the ability to grant perfect health and immunity to aging within a regrowing item solves a lot of problems
    3. 500 years of practice is amazing if you have a particular skill or art in mind - literally centuries better than the "10 years of practice" equivalents that you find din many other jumps, and has a lot of potential to synergize with other perks that scale off your skill in a particular area
    4. Biosphere is super cool if you want your fiat-backed warehouse to grow into something more
    5. The Dagger of the Path is a great example of a conceptual weapon, and something I probably would have picked up if I had a bunch more points
  5. How you're supposed to interleave the three eras is a little unclear, and maybe I'm not a creative enough author to pull it off. I don't believe SJ Chan ever got around to writing a fictionalized account of jumping to it, unfortunately
    1. If anyone else has done a good jump fiction of this jump, please let me know
  6. Overall absolutely a fantastic jump. Obviously a great option for anyone who likes the movie or wants to solve one of the specific problems available
    1. I'd especially recommend it for an early-chain jumper because of the generally low danger level and great variety of rewards

Notes on the Biosphere Supplement Doc

  1. I knew this was something I wanted to pick up when I first read the fountain jumpdoc several months ago
  2. I use the "Personal Reality" warehouse which was co-authored by SJ Chan, and this supplement feels perfectly tailored to supplement that
  3. There are lots of good pickups for people with various interests, or those who just want to keep their options open
    1. Observation Deck seems like the real must-have since a lot of the other buys are controllable through it
  4. The structure of the biosphere was a little confusing at first - I thought that there was an island, a void around the island, and a hard shell, and wasn't sure why you'd want to increase the shell thickness, but further reading cleared that up
  5. On the whole, a good pick up, especially considering it only cost 400 CP in the jump, and normally buying warehouse upgrades with CP has a very unfavorable conversion, but in this case, the biosphere purchases all seemed cheaper than they ought to be.

The Jewish Holocaust of 6M Jews was bad, by Satanist Adolf Hitler. However, the Christian Holocaust of 20-66 million mostly Christian Russians, by the Satanic Bolsheviks who called themselves Jews, was the worst Holocaust of all time. Rothschild NWO did Bolshevik Revolution to install central bank
Ynet article (https://archive.is/F1sJW):
"Stalin's Jews: We mustn't forget that some of greatest murderers of modern times were Jewish"
Here's a particularly forlorn historical date: Almost 90 years ago, between the 19th and 20th of December 1917, in the midst of the Bolshevik revolution and civil war, Lenin signed a decree calling for the establishment of The All-Russian Extraordinary Commission for Combating Counter-Revolution and Sabotage, also known as Cheka. Within a short period of time, Cheka became the largest and cruelest state security organization. Its organizational structure was changed every few years, as were its names: From Cheka to GPU, later to NKVD, and later to KGB. We cannot know with certainty the number of deaths Cheka was responsible for in its various manifestations, but the number is surely at least 20 million, including victims of the forced collectivization, the hunger, large purges, expulsions, banishments, executions, and mass death at Gulags. Whole population strata were eliminated: Independent farmers, ethnic minorities, members of the bourgeoisie, senior officers, intellectuals, artists, labor movement activists, "opposition members" who were defined completely randomly, and countless members of the Communist party itself.
In his new, highly praised book "The War of the World, "Historian Niall Ferguson writes that no revolution in the history of mankind devoured its children with the same unrestrained appetite as did the Soviet revolution. In his book on the Stalinist purges, Tel Aviv University's Dr. Igal Halfin writes that Stalinist violence was unique in that it was directed internally. Lenin, Stalin, and their successors could not have carried out their deeds without wide-scale cooperation of disciplined "terror officials," cruel interrogators, snitches, executioners, guards, judges, perverts, and many bleeding hearts who were members of the progressive Western Left and were deceived by the Soviet regime of horror and even provided it with a kosher certificate. All these things are well-known to some extent or another, even though the former Soviet Union's archives have not yet been fully opened to the public. But who knows about this? Within Russia itself, very few people have been brought to justice for their crimes in the NKVD's and KGB's service. The Russian public discourse today completely ignores the question of "How could it have happened to us?" As opposed to Eastern European nations, the Russians did not settle the score with their Stalinist past. And us, the Jews? An Israeli student finishes high school without ever hearing the name "Genrikh Yagoda," the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century, the GPU's deputy commander and the founder and commander of the NKVD. Yagoda diligently implemented Stalin's collectivization orders and is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 million people. His Jewish deputies established and managed the Gulag system. After Stalin no longer viewed him favorably, Yagoda was demoted and executed, and was replaced as chief hangman in 1936 by Yezhov, the "bloodthirsty dwarf." Yezhov was not Jewish but was blessed with an active Jewish wife. In his Book "Stalin: Court of the Red Star", Jewish historian Sebag Montefiore writes that during the darkest period of terror, when the Communist killing machine worked in full force, Stalin was surrounded by beautiful, young Jewish women. Stalin's close associates and loyalists included member of the Central Committee and Politburo Lazar Kaganovich. Montefiore characterizes him as the "first Stalinist" and adds that those starving to death in Ukraine, an unparalleled tragedy in the history of human kind aside from the Nazi horrors and Mao's terror in China, did not move Kaganovich. Many Jews sold their soul to the devil of the Communist revolution and have blood on their hands for eternity. We'll mention just one more: Leonid Reichman, head of the NKVD's special department and the organization's chief interrogator, who was a particularly cruel sadist. In 1934, according to published statistics, 38.5 percent of those holding the most senior posts in the Soviet security apparatuses were of Jewish origin. They too, of course, were gradually eliminated in the next purges. In a fascinating lecture at a Tel Aviv University convention this week, Dr. Halfin described the waves of soviet terror as a "carnival of mass murder," "fantasy of purges", and "essianism of evil." Turns out that Jews too, when they become captivated by messianic ideology, can become great murderers, among the greatest known by modern history. The Jews active in official communist terror apparatuses (In the Soviet Union and abroad) and who at times led them, did not do this, obviously, as Jews, but rather, as Stalinists, communists, and "Soviet people." Therefore, we find it easy to ignore their origin and "play dumb": What do we have to do with them? But let's not forget them. My own view is different. I find it unacceptable that a person will be considered a member of the Jewish people when he does great things, but not considered part of our people when he does amazingly despicable things. Even if we deny it, we cannot escape the Jewishness of "our hangmen," who served the Red Terror with loyalty and dedication from its establishment. After all, others will always remind us of their origin.
HistoryHeist.com article (https://archive.is/u6cM3):
"The Bolshevik Revolution: An Iluminati takeover of Russia?"
The murderous Bolshevik Revolution made communism a political reality by mostly Jewish activists. Alarming similarities to today’s political climate invite comparison.
Czar Nicholas II abdicated in March 1917. Since Bolshevik leaders Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky weren’t even in Russia then, how did they gain control of it by November 1917? Western analysts uncovered parts of this mystery, but much remained unknown due to the Soviet government’s stranglehold on its history – as Orwell said, “Who controls the present controls the past.” With glasnost, archives creaked open. Perhaps no one has collated the information better than Juri Lina in his book Under the Sign of the Scorpion.
The Rothschild-Illuminati axis, through their network of banksters and Freemasons, controlled the Bolshevik operation.
In February 1917, an artificially induced bread shortage accompanied orchestrated rioting in Petrograd (then Russia’s capital). In a “false flag,” the mobs were machine-gunned from hidden positions; the casualties were blamed on the Czar.
British agents bribed Russian soldiers to mutiny and join the rioting. White Russian General Arsene de Goulevitch wrote: “I have been told that over 21 million rubles were spent by Lord Milner in financing the Russian Revolution.” 33rd degree Freemason Alfred Milner was a Rothschild front man.
Several Russian generals were Freemasons who betrayed the Czar under Masonic instructions.
Russians thought the provisional government, established under Alexander Kerensky after the Czar’s fall, meant future democracy. But Kerensky, Grand Secretary of Russia’s Grand Orient, was “phase one” of communist takeover. His government pardoned all political exiles – green light for return to Russia of fellow Freemasons Lenin and Trotsky.
Jacob Schiff and Federal Reserve founder Paul Warburg ran Kuhn, Loeb & Co. – the Rothschilds’ New York banking satellite. Schiff supplied $20 million in gold to Trotsky, who sailed from New York with 275 other terrorists on a passport obtained through pressure the bankers put on the Wilson administration.
In Germany, Warburg’s brother Max helped persuade the government to provide millions to Lenin and allow him to cross Germany with other revolutionaries in a special train. The Germans agreed because the Bolsheviks promised to remove Russia from the raging First World War after taking power.
The Bolsheviks succeeded because they had what other revolutionaries (e.g., Mensheviks) lacked – limitless cash. By May 1917, Pravda already had a circulation of 300,000.
It is a myth that Kerensky and the Bolsheviks were adversaries. Kerensky received $1 million from Jacob Schiff. During summer 1917, when it was revealed the Bolsheviks were on Germany’s payroll – treason during wartime – Kerensky protected them. When the Bolsheviks moved to seize power that autumn, he declined the option of requesting troops to preserve the government. Lenin and Trotsky gave Kerensky money and safe passage out. He died wealthy in 1970 in New York, where the Russian Orthodox Church refused him burial services.
Postwar Britain sent the Bolsheviks rifles and ammunition for 250,000 men. With this and other Western assistance, the Reds crushed the White opposition. Loans and technology from Western capitalists poured in for decades, as documented in such books as Antony Sutton’s Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution and Joseph Finder’s Red Carpet.
In 1992, the newspaper Literaturnaya Rossiya estimated that, including starvation and civil war, Soviet communism left 147 million dead. Even accepting the more moderate claim of Harvard University Press’s Black Book of Communism – that communism murdered “only” 100 million worldwide – what these numbers represent is beyond comprehension. Stalin reportedly said: “One death is a tragedy; a million is a statistic.”
Leon Trotsky (Jewish born “Lev Bronstein”) and his 300 well-trained Jewish communists from Manhattan’s Lower East Side, boarded the Norwegian steamer “Kristianiafjord” for a journey that brought them to St. Petersburg in Russia. Their purpose was to establish a Marxist government under the leadership of Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin. Before departing, Jacob Schiff gave this group $20 million in gold to accomplish the task, but the plan was already under way before they even boarded the ship thanks to the Rothschilds.
By December 1917, the Bolsheviks established their instrument of terror, the Cheka (the KGB’s precursor). Lina writes: “Lists of those shot and otherwise executed were published in the Cheka’s weekly newspaper. In this way it can be proved that 1.7 million people were executed during the period 1918-19. A river of blood flowed through Russia. The Cheka had to employ body counters.” By contrast, under the czars, 467 people were executed between 1826 and 1904 (78 years).
Trotsky declared: “We will reduce the Russian intelligentsia to a complete idiocy.” Lina writes: “1,695,604 people were executed from January 1921 to April 1922. Among these victims were bishops, professors, doctors, officers, policemen, gendarmes, lawyers, civil servants, journalists, writers, artists…” The Bolsheviks considered the intelligentsia the greatest threat to their dictatorship. This sheds light on the Marxist buzzword “proletariat.” The Illuminati knew nations are easier to enslave if only peasants and laborers remain. But even the proletariat wasn’t spared. The Cheka brutally suppressed hundreds of peasant uprisings and labor strikes, executing victims as “counter-revolutionaries.”
Satanic torture often accompanied killings. Many priests were crucified. Some victims had eyes put out, or limbs chopped off, or were otherwise mutilated, while the next victims were forced to watch.
Although Russia had been “the world’s granary,” over five million died of starvation during the famine of 1921-22. This wasn’t “socialist inefficiency,” but genocide from grain confiscation. In the Holodomor, Stalin murdered 7 million Ukrainians, including 3 million children, by ordering all foodstuffs confiscated as punishment for resisting farm collectivization. Communist brigades went house to house, ripping down walls with axes searching for “hoarded” food.
In Soviet gulags (concentration camps) millions perished. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn estimated that, just during Stalin’s “great purge” of 1937-38, two million died in gulags.
The Bolsheviks meanwhile lived royally. Lenin, who occupied Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrov’s estate, placed 75 million francs in a Swiss bank account in 1920. Trotsky, who lived in a castle seized from Prince Felix Yusupov, had over $80 million in U.S. bank accounts. Top Cheka officials ate off gold plates. Communism was plunder masked by ideological slogans. Money and jewelry were stripped from homes at gunpoint.
Lenin and Trotsky repaid their masters. Lina writes: “In October 1918, Jewish bankers in Berlin received 47 cases of gold from Russia, containing 3125 kilos of gold.” The Grand Orient de France refurbished its Paris Lodge with money Lenin sent in 1919. In New York, Kuhn, Loeb received, in the first half of 1921 alone, $102 million in Russian wealth.
Bolsheviks were predominantly Jewish – unsurprising given the long linkage of cabalistic Jews to Freemasonry and revolution. I state this objectively, without anti-Semitism. I am half-Jewish; my paternal grandparents emigrated from Russia in 1904.
In Les Derniers Jours des Romanofs (1920), Robert Wilton, The Times’s Russian correspondent, named each person in the Bolshevik government. The tally:
Bolshevik Party Central Committee: of 12 members, 9 were Jews. (NOTE: Actually 10 now that we know Lenin has been declassified to be part-Jewish)
Council of People’s Commissars: 22 members, 17 Jews.
Central Executive Committee: 61 members, 41 Jews.
Extraordinary Commission of Moscow: 36 members, 23 Jews.
In 1922, the Morning Post listed all 545 civil servants in the Soviet administration; 477 were Jews, 30 were ethnic Russians. “Russian” Revolution was a misnomer.
Leon Trotsky (real name Lev Bronstein) was a Ukrainian Jew. He introduced the cabalistic five-pointed star as the Red Army’s symbol. In New York, Trotsky belonged to B’nai B’raith – the Jewish Masonic order – as did his financial angel, Jacob Schiff. Juri Lina has unearthed evidence that Schiff ordered the murder of the Czar and royal family.
Under Lenin, anti-Semitism became a capital offense. [lightbox full=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoAEKHBtNIA”]The Bolsheviks destroyed 60,000 churches[/lightbox]; many became latrines or museums of atheism. Yet Russia’s synagogues went untouched.
Jews dominated the Cheka (formed of 23 Jews and 13 others). Lina lists 15 Jewish gulag commandants (Under the Sign of the Scorpion, p. 310). The Cheka targeted classes and ethnicities: the “bourgeoisie”; “kulaks” (landowning farmers); and Cossacks, whom the Central Committee declared “must be exterminated and physically disposed of, down to the last man.” They tried to eradicate [lightbox full=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kW4T8m2wWc”]Russian culture[/lightbox], renaming Petrograd and Tsaritsyn after the revolution’s psychopaths. In Ukraine, the Bolsheviks seized traditional national costumes. Obliterating nationalism is a precursor to the Illuminati world order.
Though it is sometimes claimed Jewish dominance ended under Stalin, in 1937 17 of 27 Presidium members were still Jewish, and 115 of 133 Council of People’s Commissars. Stalin did turn against the Zionists in 1949, heavily persecuting Jews during 1952, after which he was poisoned.

"THE FINANCING OF THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION OF 1917 BY WARBURG AND THE CONTROL OF THE RUSSIAN CENTRAL BANK BY ROTHSCHILD"
Tsarist Russia was a thorn in the side of western high finance because at the end of the 19th century the Russian empire was the only European power not to have a central bank. “It was still the tsar who decided on coinage in his country”. "It was very simple: the money was his and he controlled the amount." That was to change quickly when the communists came to power: one of Lenin's first measures was the establishment of a Russian central bank after the fall of the tsar. After the Bolshevik Revolution, “unimaginably large sums of money from the private assets of the Russian tsarist family flowed into the hands of international bankers”. It is easy to guess why that happened.
The October 1917 Revolution under Lenin, or the violent seizure of power by the Russian Communist Bolsheviks, was co-financed by German bankers. There are estimates that 50 million marks flowed back then, which today corresponds to at least half a billion euros. The saying of the mother of the 5 Rothschild sons is well known: "If my sons don't want it, there is no war." Anyone who wanted to wage war needed money; but money was only available from the Rothschilds at the time. So the success of the Russian Revolution of 1917 was dependent on money. The money came from Trotsky, who was hooked up with the Wall Street banks. Trotsky married Sedova, the daughter of Jivotovsky, who was closely associated with the Warburg banking house and the cousins of Jacob Schiff, the financial group that financed Japan in the war against Russia. Here an ominous as well as powerful connection opens up, the alliance between capitalism and communism. Thus there is the apparently paradoxical connection that private capitalism, as the arch enemy of communism, financed its revolution in powerful Russia (thesis and antithesis).
Alexander Solschenizyn:
“We cannot state that all Jews are Bolsheviks. But – Without Jews there would never have been Bolshevism. For a Jew nothing is more insulting than the Truth. The Blood Maddened Jewish terrorists had murdered 66,000,000 in Russia from 1918 – 1957.
Between the years 1917 and 1991 preceding the collapse of the Soviet Union, it is estimated that Communist Jews murdered somewhere between 60 and 135 million innocent people."

2024.05.19 09:15 Agneus [Online] [5e] [18+] [GMT+1] Virtues of Essence - Roleplay Focused Mystery and Lore Driven Forgotten Realms Campaign seeking a replacement player

I am asking you to go through a lot for a game you might not even end up liking I know, but if you do end up liking it, all this effort will be well worth it as I am sure my other players would agree.

im a harbinger of bad luck so cant believe things actually went okay-ish considering im not a competitive applicant

i didnt plan my extracurriculars in high school i sure did a lot and most of them were scattered out HAHA. jack of all trades, master of none moments. i tried to include mostly my media and writing related activities. aside from the ones i listed on my common app, i was immersed in a lot of social justice and political advocacy works + other sports :)

well that was krazy HAHA. ik many people here showcase ivies and T20s and im not that remarkable with my t40s to t100s but i'd like to think its not that shabby for an unknown international from a third world country. my biggest regret is not applying for NYU, its my dream school but again considering my depressive episode from November to January I wasnt able to file my application on time. its a miracle that universities still accept late applications and im grateful for all that I have and received. If i could turn back time I wish I was a little bit stronger and more stable to have been able to apply for NYU, my common app essay about my favorite author was actually an alumni from NYU :")
but we carry the burdens of choice under the merits of luck; even with merit scholarships, I cant afford any of the international schools I was accepted to. more likely i'll have to attend the top university in my country. but i dont want to give up man i'll still try to appeal for financial aid and if that wont work I'll apply for transfer during my sophomore year to ivies and top LACs that give full financial aid to international transfers. the odds are low but never 0 and no harm in trying !! see you all again next year for my transfer results :]
