Im back in contact with my mom since october....i live in another City so i only see her once every few months. From the beginning she was asking me to buy her things but it was small stuff like Phone Cases ,then a bathing suit ...then she liked my dress and wanted the same etc. I currently started a new job and dont earn that much( that will change next year ),so if it comes to bigger things my husband has to pay. He already does alot for my family when we visit ( Restaurants, lil trips) He has no problem with that. The issue started when i noticed that she was testing if she could get more money out of me. She wanted to see if i would donate money to her village, what id get for "x" persons wedding (who i have no contact with and the wedding is in another country) then later demanded more than that.
I tried to set a boundery and told her "i dont have that much money and i wont ask my husband since he is doing so much already." I actually even explained how much im earning, all of my expenses like student loan, phone bill and grocerys ..i could tell she didnt like that answer ....the problem stopped for a while.
Then she called me today and was crying about a big debt (5000 euro)that she has to pay month by month(55 euros)...she told me she doesnt know how to pay and was crying, i felt bad so i offered her help....i wanted to pay the 55 and the next year when i earn more i would have paid it all off. But damn it ...instead of being happy she tells me to ask my husband if he could borrow her 2000 euro for Pocket money for her vacation, where the living is very cheap and shes with family anyway.....im actually so mad because i could see the manipulation from the beginning but i wanted to be nice. I wish i wouldnt care about her like she doesnt for me....i dont expect anything from her... she didnt get us anything when we eloped but expected gold when she did ( she married few months before me)didnt get me a Birthday gift ( my 30th) but expected me to plan and organize her 50th + a gift....
I dont want to help her anymore , i dont want to get used and get disappointed

I am well aware that I won't get definitive answers because this would be a case to case basis, however, asking the questions directly to my friend [H] might actually make our relationship awkward which I would never want to damage because he is currently very close and my life would be very different without him.
I [B], 24M Asian and [H] 23M Chinese have been growing very close to the point of telling people that we would go to dates and so on and have no problem people calling us a couple or together. We have been friends for maybe 2-3 months or so. We do however still talk about girls and that we want a partner and so on, typical wholesome talk about girls (not the creepy kind). He does things with me that not even my former closest friends would, and things that only my ex would do for me.
I learn about many cultures, Asian/Western/African/Anywhere (but those 3 are what I read up on first before). So I do come off as very warm and fun to be with for most people. Nevertheless, being introverted, I usually only attach myself to 2-3 people constantly. With that being said, I know what Chinese men (among other cultures) find cute (in partners), and having a background in social/psych science, I know how to tread that fine line of blending masculine and feminine traits so that men (and women) usually become very comfortable with me, to the point of me sleeping with them and hugging them (again, either sex works; just sleep). This has gotten to the point that this warm and kind blend became my default personality.
So, now, given that we do act like a couple, hugging each other publicly, pressing our foreheads together when looking at each other's phones while waiting for the train, holding hands, typical couple behavior. I recently read about jiyou/jiqing. Is this something men like to have and maybe even proud of? Because he seems to make it obvious that we are close to other people when some friends become to touch with me, especially around other chinese that want to also be my close friend.
What's the deal with jiqing/jiyou? This might seem like a simple google search, but it's hard. Some terms in chinese (and most cultures) might be easy to define simply, but is not actually simple especially terms that have gone much changes in perception and meaning - which certainly did happen to jiqing and jiyou which used to mean gay friend but now actually not.
How do I know if my friend wants jiyou/jiqing (what's the difference?) or might actually signal they want me (but without coming off as gay, because he does seem straight; so at most, he would be bi-curious or starting to catch feelings, but idk). I don't want to hurt him and actually want to see where this relationship takes us - even if my preference are girls, but since I have no plans of dating at the moment (refractory period from breakup which happened before me and [H] met); unsure of dating, but i'll cross the bridge when I get there.

Howdy! I'm still pretty new to OSINT. I've gotten some tools going but I want to go further and learn more. Below I'll describe generally what my job is/my investigative goal and then I'll list the tools I use. I'd love it if y'all could recommend other tools, resources, methods of combining/playing them off of each other, etc. just generally give your thoughts on the toolkit I've put together. I'm still pretty new to investigation in general so recommendations for online investigation/osint courses I'm open to as well.
My job/the goal I'm a private investigator who primarily does healthcare/workman's comp investigations, background checks, skip traces, etc for a private company. For each case we do we pull two different databases that give us (when they can) possible emails, phone numbers, addresses, vehicles, etc. quite a lot of information. We then locate the subjects online and document their activity, check for obvious fraud, etc. I spent a good deal of my time looking for profiles, confirming them and going through them, finding articles/other mentions online about my subject, etc. pretty standard social media investigations. I would love to get better at extracting emails linked phone numbers, emails linked to social media profiles, reverse email and phone number checks, and methods of geo locating a subject (even if it's just to the city said subject was most recently visible in). I loved truecallerpy because sometimes a phone number would give me a Gmail which i then could expand from but that tool seems to be dead (or I'm just a dingus)
Setup: I have my primary work windows PC and then I have a laptop with fedora and a Desktop with Debian. Python is really the only coding language I even somewhat know how to use lol.
Tools:
These are the tools I use currently organized by category. For some of the coded ones I use I've only managed to get partial usage and I'll label them as such (unsure if the tools are outdated/patched or if I'm just still not great at python yet)
Paid tools: The only paid tool I've been using is usersearch.ai which I really like. It gets reverse check information via osint industries (not sure how it compares to using osint industries itself) but it's really good with standard reverse phone and reverse email checks. It's a solid osint kit for a easy price point. If there are other paid tools with entry level price points (user search is 15 bucks a month and credits are very cheap but not only specific functions need credits so think around that budget wise) I'd love to know about them and test them out

I (23F UK) was diagnosed and treated for endometriosis via ablation during a laparoscopy performed by the NHS in February 2024. Since the surgery, I've been struggling with medical trauma due to the way I was treated, and unfortunately, all my symptoms have already returned.
I'm reaching out to see if anyone has experienced something similar and can offer advice. Also, I'm wondering if I have grounds to file a complaint or if this is more of a personal issue.
Here is what happened:
After years of waiting, making numerous phone calls, and experiencing several referrals mysteriously falling through, I finally had a phone appointment with my surgeon to discuss my symptoms. During the call, he kept trying to dismiss me and dissuade me from pursuing a diagnostic laparoscopy. I tried to remain calm, but after years of being dismissed and seeing my health decline daily, I broke down in tears explaining this to him. This seemed to help because, although hesitantly, he did agree to book a diagnostic laparoscopy.
For context, two ultrasounds had found limited mobility in my left ovary, suggesting possible adhesions.
This was the only interaction I had with my surgeon before the actual surgery. On the day of the procedure, he asked about my symptoms but kept cutting me off and being dismissive. He said the surgery would take at least 45 minutes to investigate and swap my copper IUD for the MIRENA coil. He mentioned that if endometriosis was present, I would be under anesthesia for 1-3 hours, but he would close me up and refer me to a specialist hospital if he found stage 3+ endometriosis. Following the advice of women from my endo support group, I asked my surgeon if he could perform excision surgery if endometriosis was present. He said excision is only for severe cases, that he didn't perform this procedure, and that ablation was just as effective. Despite my research and advice from others, I trusted his opinion since I am not a doctor.
The anesthetist then came in, briefly looked through my chart, barely spoke to me, and seemed very dismissive. I have low blood pressure normally, and vasovagal syncope episodes everyday (depending on day often multiple times). On the day of the surgery, it was even lower than usual (80-70/60-50), so my mum, who is an NHS nurse, brought it up since he hadn't. He kind of laughed in a snarky way and said "You're young, it's fine." then left.
In the surgery room, no one spoke to me, and I was very anxious, on the brink of a panic attack. A lovely nurse tried to distract me by chatting, which helped immensely (thank god for NHS nurses). The anesthetist inserted the cannula without telling me, asked the surgeon how long he needed, and the surgeon said 30 minutes. Without any warning, the anesthetist put me to sleep.
This was very distressing for me, and cranked up my anxiety. Hearing the surgeon say he needed less time than he had told me made me feel like he didn’t really believe I had endo or that my pain was real. Seconds later, everything started spinning, and that was the last thing I remembered as I went under which felt horrible.
I woke up in severe pain, foggy, with an oxygen mask on, two nurses monitoring me, and a rash all over the arm where the cannula was inserted. I felt like I was about to have a panic attack, severely anxious, and overwhelmed by the oxygen mask and other monitoring devices. The nurses said they were worried since I took a long time to wake up, and the rash indicated an allergic reaction to either the anesthesia or the medication I was given. My blood pressure was around 60/40. They did remove the oxygen mask as soon as I was more awake, which calmed me down a bit. Despite a few IV morphine shots, I was still in a lot of pain, so they gave me fentanyl, which helped briefly. I had surgery in 2018 under general anaesthesia and didn't have any of these issues,(different hospital).
Since it took me a long time to wake up, my surgeon couldn't speak to me after the surgery. I still don't know exactly how long it took me to wake up; my mum didn't keep track, I was too foggy to keep track, and the staff avoided my questions about it. However, he did speak to my mum and told her they found stage 1/2 lesions that were superficial and concentrated on my left ovary, on and behind my uterus, as well as severe pelvic inflammation and congestion, which he expressed is more typical in moderate endometriosis. He said I would probably need further hormonal treatment on top of the MIRENA because of this.
I had the option to go home, but I asked if i could stay overnight because my entire body felt extremely itchy to the point where I couldn't sleep, I had a fever, and it was incredibly difficult and painful to urinate. The itchiness improved slightly around the 8-hour mark after many doses of antihistamines, but I was still very uncomfortable and had a slight fever for days after. They said light bleeding was to be expected but I was bleeding heavily, I left a trail of blood walking to the bathroom and pads couldn't keep up with how much I was bleeding. They kept offering morphine, but since it didn't help with the pain and I suspected it was causing the itchiness, I asked for buscopan instead.
The only thing included in my surgery notes was "moderate endometriosis on uterus and left ovary." My hospital discharge notes claimed "no vaginal bleeding, suspected unknown allergic reaction which subsided entirely with antihistamines, no need for further investigation' and' no issues emptying bladder." Since I left a trail of blood all over the floor, it was very painful to pee, and my full body itchiness lasted for days, I don't feel my notes were accurate ? I don't understand this
I had three incisions; they said they used dissolvable stitches, but one stitch was black while the others were clear. The clear stitches dissolved within a week, but the black looking stitch took over a month, and I had to fiddle with it when it was coming off. I'm not sure if this is normal.
Four months after my surgery, I still experience severe deep pain when emptying my bladder and need to urinate constantly (wasn't a problem before). My symptoms are all back, and I am pretty much bed-bound again like I was before the surgery. I still haven't spoken to my surgeon, and the surgery notes left me wondering what he meant by pelvic congestion, severe inflammation, further hormonal treatment, and about the staging of the disease. I've tried reaching him via his secretary a few times and left a voice message once, but I haven't heard back.
Now, every time I have to see a doctor, I find myself trying to suppress panic attacks. I have nightmares related to my experience and struggle to talk about it without crying or having a panic attack.
I started seeing a therapist in March 2023 to help with PTSD symptoms after being in an abusive relationship. By the time of my surgery, I was actually in a great place mentally and hadn't had any PTSD symptoms since October 2023. I also have ADHD, so with all this in mind, I know that I am more likely to process trauma more negatively.
Advice:
Is it reasonable for me to submit a complaint about my experience? I am not seeking any legal outcomes or compensation. My reason for submitting a complaint would be to encourage the staff to be more mindful of future patients.
Even just informing me of what they were doing ahead of time (e.g., "I am putting in a cannula for your anaesthetic; you will feel a slight pinch but don't worry. I am putting in the anaesthetic now; this might feel funny going in but don't worry, you'll feel a bit dizzy and be asleep very quickly after. We need 30 minutes; we may need longer if we find endometriosis (name of patient).") would have avoided a lot of distress. They could have also discussed anesthesia duration before I went into the room, which would have helped avoid a lot of anxiety, but I'm not sure this would work protocol-wise.
Any advice on how to handle this situation, and heal emotionally? Clarifications?

I heard about the game a while back, and recently I decided to try it out. So I downloaded it on my phone and opened it. Immediately I fell in love with the art style and the design of the MC. I still can't get over how bad ass having a flaming clock for a head is. Anyways, I started the game and was going through the first story section that the game puts you in imediately. I read through the dialogue, look at the characters, and I'm hooked. I could tell I'll be playing this game for a while, but just when I'm getting invested, I'm thrown out of it by the game crashing as soon as the first loading screen finishes. I think it's strange, but I try again. It crashes at the same time. I'm starting to get annoyed now, but I'm not going to give up so soon. I then try using the skip button, and I'm suddenly on the main menu screen. I breath a sigh of relief as I think I'm out of the deep end. I do my free pulls, check out the team loadout screen, and then try to go into a mission. But as soon as the loading screen finishes, the game crashes. I get mad, go back in and try again. It crashes at the same time. I then try other missions that I have available, but the same thing happens. I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried everything, but all I've managed to do was get a few cool looking characters and crash the game at least 20 times. Is there anything I can do? I play on an Android Galaxy a54 5g, just in case anyone asked.
TL:DR- the game keeps crashing when loading screens for missions finish. I play on android.

TL;DR. Amazing girlfirend, long distance, broke up with me to make me fast track divorce. We were getting back together, and I caught her hiding an apparent booty call friend from me. Am I foolish?
I am at the tail end of a messy divorce after 15 years with (B). Toxic covert narcissism, and infidelity. When papers were filed and my ex started dating, I started talking to an old friend (G) wand we quickly connected. When my ex found out I was talking to (G) she went crazy and accused me of DV and has been fighting to take the kids and house ever since. the divorce is going on two years now.
Things with G were amazing, such an amazing connection. We were many hours apart and I would visit her every other weekend. We were making plans for the future and talking about marriage.
Apparently, due to my divorce dragging out, G became impatient and rather than talk to me about the problems she was having, she decided to break up with me, thinking it would push me to somehow speed things up. She didn't know that I am at the mercy of the court system here and have been doing everything humanly possible to get through the divorce. Only a month after the breakup we started talking again and I began visiting again. Things got more and more serious and I asked G to tell me if there were others. Over the last week or so, we have been talking, on one occasion we really opened up with each other and she vowed to win me back. saying I am perfect for her and that she needs me every day. That it was a huge mistake and that she had lost respect for herself.
While it is against my code, I decided to not ghost her and give her a chance to earn my trust back.
I wrote a nice letter to her and told her about being willing to try but it would take work from both of us.
since the letter she has sort of gone neutral. she has some crazy stuff going on in her life and is the type to compartmentalize things, so I understood when she asked that we put this on hold until she resolves her other issues in some days. really some bad stuff with family, so there is no doubt it took priority.
Inversly, I am a big communicator, and Im now loosing my mind a bit because of it. I made the choice to give her a chance and now it seems like she isn't interested. It could just be contrast between the both of our communication types. She is definitely the avoidant type.

I know sending notes is not the best way to communicate, but I have been cataloging my thoughts and trying to understand my feelings and yours. I was really hurt because it was not my intention or desire. It seems to be a conclusion made on your own or with someone’s advice. You could have talked to me about it. Instead, things went straight into saying that I wanted every little detail and that “that’s never going to happen.” That was an extreme conclusion, and I didn’t appreciate being attacked.
I want to see if we can be a couple someday, and not communicating is a big red flag for me and a problem. When we talked and started to work through things, there seemed to be value in us getting back together and committing to each other at some point. You told me so much about yourself, and we learned a lot about each other. You told me you wanted us back the way we were before you broke up with me. You told me that it was all a mistake and that we could truly commit to each other and be happy together. After our argument the other night, I’m unsure if that is the case anymore. I want to trust you, but it would take both of us working together. I understand that there are some issues with things in my past, and I’m happy to tell you whatever you want to know if you feel you can listen and try to understand, should you wish.
I have to proceed with caution now. I want us to trust each other, and I will. The alternative is that we both walk away. I love you and have hope, but my hope is fading with each of these bad interactions and the hot and cold treatment I have been feeling. If the roles were reversed, I can assure you that I definitely would sever contact. Are some photos and likes more important than our confidence in each other? It troubles me that his advances are just being ignored. If that is even the case. From all I can gather, it’s possible that nothing has changed, and it could still be happening. And we are still talking about a potential future together, even now. It troubles me that he is so close to town as well. I promised to trust you, but I believe this would be expected from me if things were flipped. I have already done everything possible to sever all contact with the one person who ever jeopardized our relationship in the past. It seems that commitment between us may not be possible until every day is available. Did you not believe that every day would come? This situation has put the idea of every day in extreme jeopardy for me.
I realized that maybe the need for frequent touch was strong enough that every two weeks wasn’t enough with me while we were together. I was focused on love, caring, and constant contact. I got caught up in trying to show love to fill the time in between, but I didn’t consider touch because I had the same need and could wait, whether we were together or not. If that is true, it doesn’t justify leading me on and lying. It could have been explained to me, and I would have likely still visited occasionally, knowing the situation. Was it all just booty calls? With him? With me? It wasn’t for me because I was convinced I was on the path to us getting back together. And I believed everything I was told.
You told me that, at that time, after we broke up, you lost all respect for yourself. What I have learned about your past makes me wonder if you never felt like someone truly loved you. Someone truly does love you, and with that, your words and actions hold great power over me.
This situation put me exactly where I was in my past in an extremely similar way. I promised never to allow myself to feel this way or be subjected to this sort of thing again. It surprises me in a good way that I am talking to you and even more so that I am working to find a path for us to be together. I promise this is in no way meant to make you feel guilty. It’s just that this has rocked my reality in a way.
Whatever comes out of this, I promise never to try to hold anything over your head in any way. All I am searching for is understanding between us. Please try to see the value in that. Please see the value in how that can build us up or at least give each of us some understanding.

I am at the tail end of a messy divorce after 15 years with (B). Toxic covert narcissism, and infidelity. When papers were filed and my ex started dating, I started talking to an old friend (G) wand we quickly connected. When my ex found out I was talking to (G) she went crazy and accused me of DV and has been fighting to take the kids and house ever since. the divorce is going on two years now.
Things with G were amazing, such an amazing connection. We were many hours apart and I would visit her every other weekend. We were making plans for the future and talking about marriage.
Apparently, due to my divorce dragging out, G became impatient and rather than talk to me about the problems she was having, she decided to break up with me, thinking it would push me to somehow speed things up. She didn't know that I am at the mercy of the court system here and have been doing everything humanly possible to get through the divorce. I was distraught and didn't know really what was going on behind the breakup.
Only a month after the breakup we started talking again and I began visiting again. Things got more and more serious and I asked G to tell me if there were others. I didn't want to be the other man without knowing. If things needed to be casual because of the distance, I could accept that. On several occasions she promised she would tell me, and that she wasn't like that.
FFW a few months, we are on the cusp of making it official again. G is sleeping and I am watching a movie on her apple TV. a Facetime Call Notification pops up from a guy I had asked about and she had previously laughed it off.
I looked into her phone and low and behold I found lots of texts. funny dirty memes I was sending her, she would send him, naughty photos she would send to me, she was also sending him...
I was livid and woke her. I told her that I know about the guy. she apologised and I said you lied to me.
The next morning I removed a bracelet that I had given her and left.
Over the last week or so, we have been talking, on one occasion we really opened up with each other and she vowed to win me back. saying I am perfect for her and that she needs me every day. That it was a huge mistake and that she had lost respect for herself.
While it is against my code, I decided to not ghost her and give her a chance to earn my trust back.
I wrote a nice letter to her and told her about being willing to try but it would take work from both of us.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Shopify's Shop App is approaching a $1B GMV run rate. Shopify President Harley Finkelstein said that in Q4, the Shop App nearly reached $100M in GMV in a single month.
Wix is launching a generative AI tool that lets customers create and edit mobile apps for iOS and Android using text prompts. The tool requires Wix’s premium Branded App plan for $99/month. First a chatbot has a conversation with users to understand the goals, intent, and aesthetic of their app. Then the tool generates an app that can be customized and previewed from the editor. Finally Wix helps you submit the app to Apple and Google app stores.
Last week I reported that US officials escalated a crackdown on the controversial customs exemption known as the de minimis rule. The US Customs and Border Protection suspended six customs brokers from Entry Type 86, including Seko Logistics, which says that it processes millions of parcels under the rule each month. Since then, Seko Logistics filed a court action against against the CBP, seeking to remove any conditions for reinstatement until the alleged violations are identified. The lawsuit compelled the CBP to conditionally reinstate Seko, but the logistics provider asked the Court of International Trade to require the CBP to identify the violations that led to the suspension, which it says caused “significant monetary loss” to the company and its clients.
Despite the crackdowns, Tim van Leeuwen from air cargo consultant Rotate said in a LinkedIn post that its data doesn't yet show that the moves by CPB have had any impact on freighter flights entering the region, and that there are currently around 100 flights per day between North east Asia and North America, up from 50 flights a day a few months back. That's not to say that backlogs of packages won't start to eventually pile up, but so far so good in terms of inbound shipments.

United Airlines announced the launch of Kinective Media, which it says is the first network that uses insights from travel behaviors to connect customers to personalized, real-time advertising and offers. The platform allows brands to advertise on United's mobile app and inflight entertainment screens.
Costco is launching an ad network built on the trove of data from its 74.5M members' shopping habits and past purchases. The retailer is currently testing the ad network's capabilities and fielding offers from potential vendors. Mark Williamson, assistant VP of retail media at Costco, joked that Costco has the “100th mover advantage” since they are so late into retail media sales, but that entering late will help them avoid the pitfalls of other companies' ad networks.
Tesco Marketplace relaunched last week after taking a hiatus since 2018. The marketplace is back with around 9,000 products from 3rd party sellers., and of course with all 3rd party marketplaces, ads are inevitable (although they haven't officially been announced).
The Washington Post introduced an advertising solution called Zeus Prime, which is intended to offer an alternative to Google and Facebook for publishers and advertisers. The publication partnered with buy-side demand platform Polar to build the ad-buying user interface. The product, for now, will allow clients to purchase ad inventory directly on the Washington Post in real time, with plans to add additional local and national media companies to the network.
Google is opening a new Google TV Network to get more advertisers to its free ad-supported programming. According to Google, over 20M devices tune into Google TV's free channels every month, spending a little over an hour watching per day. The channels currently play non-skippable ads and 6-second “bumper ads”, which Google isn't changing, but simply opening up a new network for advertisers to purchase inventory more easily. Google also noted that new ad formats may be coming in the future.
eBay will no longer accept American Express cards as a payment option on its platform because of “unacceptably high fees”. The company notified customers about the change last Wednesday, which is set to take effect August 17th. eBay noted that credit card transaction fees are rising unchecked due to lack of competition and that more robust regulations are needed in the industry to help lower fees — which caused every eBay seller on the planet to think, “Well isn't that just the pot calling the kettle black?” American Express shot back by saying that its fees are similar to other cards accepted on eBay and that dropping AMEX as a payment option contradicts eBay's stated goal of increasing competition at the point of sale. American Express also noted that eBay accounts for less than 0.2% of its total network volume, so like, whatevs.
TikTok Shop outperformed other e-commerce platforms including Temu, Shein, Etsy, and even Walmart, when it comes to customer retention, according to data from Earnest Analytics. It also beat out other social commerce platforms like Whatnot, Flip, and Instagram Checkout. TikTok seems to have cracked the code on customer retention, and they've done it in an entertaining way, without sending 140 promotional e-mails over two months like Temu. Amazon was the only e-commerce platform that beat TikTok Shop in the study, which looked at data between January 2022 and February 2024. That makes sense given that customers shop on Amazon for all of their household goods, not just for impulse products they discover. However the same could be said of Walmart, and TikTok beat them.
Sellers who use Amazon's Buy with Prime are seeing mixed results since the service launched a year and a half ago, according to Business Insider. The Bean Coffee Company says Buy with Prime only accounts for about 3% to 5% of sales, though they expect it to eventually grow to more as customers become familiar with the service. The owner says that determining the correct price to account for Amazon's shipping and fulfillment fees is the most difficult part of using Buy with Prime. Tria Beauty saw a 7% to 11% of its D2C sales come from Buy with Prime over the past 18 months. Despite the slow adoption and initial hiccups, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and company leadership told Business Insider that they are very confident about Buy with Prime because the initiative is still in its infancy.
The British Independent Retailers Association, which has thousands of members in the country, filed a £1.1B damages claim against Amazon for allegedly illegally misusing members' proprietary data for competitive purposes. The association is also claiming that Amazon manipulated which retailers were selected for its coveted “Buy Box.” The claim, although similar to other lawsuits and investigations in the past, both previous and ongoing, is the biggest ever collective action to be launched by retailers in the UK, covering the period between October 2025 and present. Andrew Goodacre, CEO of BIRA said in a statement, “Whilst the retailers knew about the large commissions charged by Amazon, they did not know about the added risk of their trading data being used by Amazon to take sales away from them. The filing of the claim today is the first step towards retailers obtaining compensation for what Amazon has done.”
A group of 11 current and former OpenAI employees, plus two from DeepMind and Anthropic, issued a public letter last week declaring that leading AI companies are not to be trusted. The employees wrote that AI companies have strong financial incentives to avoid effective oversight, and they do not believe bespoke structures of corporate governance are sufficient to change this. The feature is powered by the open source model Stable Diffusion and comes one year after eBay introduced an AI feature that generates titles and descriptions for a product listing.
Bold Commerce introduced a number of new features including: 1) Subscription Upsells (nudge one-time orderers to subscribe), 2) Express Add-Ons (lets existing subscribers ad any products to their subscription order), 3) Customer Portal Upsells (offers within the customer dashboard), 4) E-mail Upsells (triggered after a shopper places an order), 5) Convertible Subscriptions (lets customers switch products they subscribe to each month), and 6) AI Powered Smart Upsells (create personalized upsell offers on autopilot). The company's co-founder Jay Myers will be speaking at the SubSummit 2024 next week, which they sponsor, about maximizing revenue and customer LTV using their new tools.
Italy's antitrust regulator fined Meta €3.5M for alleged non-compliance with transparency standards and inadequate user data management. The agency said Meta failed to promptly inform users registered on Instagram via the web about the commercial use of their personal data. They also flagged Meta's management of account suspensions on Instagram and Facebook as deficient.
Affirm will now allow shoppers to split the cost of a purchase into two interest-free payments, known as “Pay in 2.” The BNPL provider also launched “Pay in 30” which allows customers to pay in full without interest within 30 days of purchase (like a credit card, LOL). The company is planning to test and implement the new credit options with its merchant partners in the coming months.
Speaking of BNPL… Australia's government is preparing legislation that would require BNPL providers to carry out basic credit checks on new customers. Australia says that it recognizes the competition that BNPL has brought into the credit markets, but that BNPL products are not currently covered by the National Consumer Credit Act. The legislation will establish a new category of “low-cost credit” under the Act “to reflect the lower risk and cost of BNPL compared with other regulated forms of credit.”
In an unlikely partnership, Capital One is teaming up with Stripe and Adyen to offer a free open source product called Direct Data Share, which is an API that allows merchants to send real-time transaction data to help reduce e-commerce fraud and false declines. The three companies will share certain data like IP addresses to prevent fraud transactions across each other's respective payment network.
Taobao, one of China's largest e-commerce websites owned by Alibaba, leaked 11.1M user records that include customers' names, phone numbers, and mailing addresses, according to a report by Cybernews, which said that someone was harvesting Taobao data illegally “possibly through web crawling or other unauthorized means.” Taobao rejected the report and said that the platform experienced no data leak.
X announced that they will now allow users to post adult content on its app, so long as it's properly marked, prompting every X user to ask the same question — “you couldn't do that before?” The content, however, will be prohibited from appearing in profile photos or banners.
In other X news, the company's only PR employee, Joe Benarroch, resigned, according to the Wall Street Journal. Benarroch was head of business operations, which included overseeing X's corporate communications. Wait, so was he the guy that would respond to media inquiries with a poop emoji?
PrettyLittleThing, a UK-based fast-fashion women's retailer, introduced a £1.99 fee for users to send back their unwanted clothing, which will be deducted from their refund. The company joins other e-commerce retailers like Boohoo, H&M, and Asos in introducing a returns fee.
The FAA issued Amazon Prime Air additional permissions that allow the division to operate drones beyond a visual line of sight, which is a typical requirement for all commercial drone operators. Amazon was able to acquire this special permission by developing an onboard detect-and-avoid system. Let's hope it works! The new authorization will allow Amazon to expand its delivery area in College Station, TX.
In other drone delivery news… Walmart added drone delivery as an option in its mobile app in areas where it offers the service. Starting later this month, customers in Dallas Fort Worth area will be notified of the new ordering capability through the Walmart app if they are eligible for drone delivery. The service will use drones from Alphabet's drone delivery service, Wing.
Shopify told employees that as of July 1, the company will no longer allow certain types of expense reimbursements including up to $55/month for home Internet, a $25 credit towards any Shopify merchant store on their birthdays, up to 50% of registration fees for employees looking to sign up for a sports team with their coworkers, and up to $1,200 a year for books, professional development subscriptions, and language-learning resources. Shopify said they need the money for that new executive compensation plan. LOL.
Cross-border sales volume of clothing and footwear in England dropped from £7.4B in 2019 to £2.7B in 2023 after Brexit, according to research from Retail Economic and Tradebyte. The Guardian wrote that the research “shows the extend to which complex regulations and red tape at the border have deterred firms from sending goods across the Channel.”
LoadUp, a junk removal company that offers eco-friendly waste management solutions, launched a new division called Refurn, which helps online furniture retailers reduce the cost of returns. After a customer returns a piece of furniture, Refurn lists the item for resell to its network of buyers, who pick up the item from the customer's home after it's resold. Sounds good if Refurn can flip the items fast enough! Otherwise the customer is stuck with a returned couch in their house for weeks.
DHL eCommerce relocated its Grand Prairie location to a 220k sq.ft. distribution center in Irving, TX. The company invested $57.5M in the land, construction, automation, and sustainability features of the facility, which will employ around 150 employees. The company is also closing its Raleigh NC distribution facility and eliminating 120 positions from the city by the end of July to move the operations to Concord.
Walmart said it expects to generate profits in its US e-commerce business in the next two years, including its advertising and consumer data businesses, according to its CFO John David Rainey, who added that Sam's Club is already profitable in e-commerce. Walmart's e-commerce business rose about 22% in sales during the latest quarter, while the company has simultaneously been working to drive down costs.
Copia Global, a Kenyan B2C e-commerce platform that allows retailers to shop and restock essential goods using a mobile app, has stopped taking orders from Central and Eastern Kenya due to cashflow challenges. The company also laid off over 1,060 employees in an attempt to scale back operations and avoid a complete shut down.
Speaking of layoffs… Microsoft is laying off somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 workers across its Azure cloud and mixed reality departments as part of its mission to “define the AI wave,” according to a leaked memo. Google cut a group of workers from the team responsible for making sure government requests for its users' private information are legitimate and legal, raising concerns that Google is weakening its ability to protect customer data. So are requests now granted on the honor system?
Amazon is expanding its Grubhub partnership, which began in 2022 by allowing customers to order from Grubhub directly on Amazon.com or the Amazon app. Amazon Prime members will now automatically get a free Grubhub+ subscription, which usually costs $120/year and includes no delivery charges on orders over $12, among other perks.
A court ruled that Meta must face a lawsuit over claims it breached its terms of service by soliciting fraudulent advertisements from Chinese companies. The case was initially dismissed in 2022 by a judge who ruled the claims were barred by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, but a new ruling in appeals court says otherwise.
Zara is bringing its live-shopping broadcasts to the US, which are already popular in China, as part of its aim to attract shoppers as sales cool after the pandemic boom. The five-hour live shopping broadcasts, held each week by Douyin, have helped drive up Zara's sales since they premiered in November, and now the company wants to take its livestreams to the West.

Bath & Body Works inked a multi-year deal with Accenture to modernize its tech stack. The two companies will work together to create new capabilities such as a digital Fragrance Finder, a generative AI powered conversation experience to help customers find the right cologne or perfume. I can picture the live chat now, “It's not working. Should I scratch my screen to get the smell?”
AI companies could soon run out of publicly available training data for their large language models, according to a study by Epoch AI. The study predicts that sometime between 2026 and 2032, there won't be enough new blogs, news articles, or social media commentary to sustain the current trajectory of AI development, putting pressure on companies to tap into customers' private data in order to get a leg up. Umm, I believe they've already started…
For example… Artists are currently outraged at Meta after the company confirmed how it was using public pictures on its apps to train its image generator, calling the act predatory in nature and threatening to leave Instagram. Then there's the whole Adobe fiasco that went down last week when Photoshop updated its TOS to give itself the right to review user designs stored in its cloud, including NDA work, and use it to train its AI tool. Adobe has since released a statement clarifying that it does not train its Firefly AI models on unpublished user content, but users aren't buying it.
Plus 7 seed rounds, IPOs, and acquisitions of interest including Shopify's acquisition of Threads (the Slack alternative, not the Meta owned Twitter clone).

so the past few days my pwbpd that i’m dating and i have been fighting a lot recently. (when are you not though tbh)
basically what started it was yesterday morning i tried voicing some concerns about her name calling, and of course i got the classic “you name called me before too”. which honestly after she told me she had a problem with it i made a very conscious effort to stop, she hasn’t at all. I lose track of the insults thrown my way on a daily basis when things aren’t going her way.
anyways, this led to a heated phone call, to which i told her im just getting sick of the disrespect. she ends up hanging up, and changing her facebook status to single. I call her and ask what’s that’s about, and she claims that “i said i was done with her” even though i never said that.
so i tell her either change that back or im walking away. she fights doing that for several hours and i end up blocking her on everything except my phone.
She calls me hours later, asking to see me, and that she changed it back. i checked and she did. so we hang out at my house last night, and it was fine we had a good night.
Then this morning, we wake up and she starts up an argument pertaining to the previous day, basically mimicking every complaint i had with her as if they were her own, which was the strangest deflection to be a part of. I basically tell her i can’t take this shit anymore you need to stop. She again spins this as me breaking up with her, i tell her that’s not the case what i meant was im not ok being treated this way. She disagrees and tells her “i need to “make it up to her” BEFORE i go to work today or she’s leaving.
so i go out, buy her flowers, and also gave her a stuffed animal that reminded me of her dog that sadly passed away last year, so she had something to remember them by.
you’re probably thinking what did i owe her in the first place. and believe me i know i was just trying to ease the tension vs go through the long winded block / fight cycle. And what does she do? tells me “is this you trying to make up to me?” “this hurts my feelings because the dog is not exactly the same color as my dog was” “i love the flowers but this one looks like it’s dying” “you tried harder last time you got me flowers” “i love them but you still have to make things up to me”
i then leave obviously upset by that reaction, since i went out of my way even though i didn’t feel as if i was in the wrong. she calls me as im driving home, and says “thank you again for the stuff, are you headed to work?” i reply yes. “ok well then i guess that’s it then you didn’t make it up to me before work”. i then tell her go ahead then, you really hurt my feelings with this shit so leave me if you really feel that way”
she says “alright you made things easy for me. the flowers are dying and you got me a dog that doesn’t even look like mine”. i hang up. she blocks me on snapchat.
i say nothing, and didn’t plan on it. she called me while i was typing this, i ignored it. who knows what that was possibly about.
i’m just venting, things were great and then yesterday and today just made me feel so horrible.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Shopify's Shop App is approaching a $1B GMV run rate. Shopify President Harley Finkelstein said that in Q4, the Shop App nearly reached $100M in GMV in a single month.
Wix is launching a generative AI tool that lets customers create and edit mobile apps for iOS and Android using text prompts. The tool requires Wix’s premium Branded App plan for $99/month. First a chatbot has a conversation with users to understand the goals, intent, and aesthetic of their app. Then the tool generates an app that can be customized and previewed from the editor. Finally Wix helps you submit the app to Apple and Google app stores.
Last week I reported that US officials escalated a crackdown on the controversial customs exemption known as the de minimis rule. The US Customs and Border Protection suspended six customs brokers from Entry Type 86, including Seko Logistics, which says that it processes millions of parcels under the rule each month. Since then, Seko Logistics filed a court action against against the CBP, seeking to remove any conditions for reinstatement until the alleged violations are identified. The lawsuit compelled the CBP to conditionally reinstate Seko, but the logistics provider asked the Court of International Trade to require the CBP to identify the violations that led to the suspension, which it says caused “significant monetary loss” to the company and its clients.
Despite the crackdowns, Tim van Leeuwen from air cargo consultant Rotate said in a LinkedIn post that its data doesn't yet show that the moves by CPB have had any impact on freighter flights entering the region, and that there are currently around 100 flights per day between North east Asia and North America, up from 50 flights a day a few months back. That's not to say that backlogs of packages won't start to eventually pile up, but so far so good in terms of inbound shipments.
Remember last week when I reported (story #2) that PayPal, JP Morgan Chase, Visa, Expedia, and Brave had all launched (or would be launching) an ad network? Well the story continues…
United Airlines announced the launch of Kinective Media, which it says is the first network that uses insights from travel behaviors to connect customers to personalized, real-time advertising and offers. The platform allows brands to advertise on United's mobile app and inflight entertainment screens.
Costco is launching an ad network built on the trove of data from its 74.5M members' shopping habits and past purchases. The retailer is currently testing the ad network's capabilities and fielding offers from potential vendors. Mark Williamson, assistant VP of retail media at Costco, joked that Costco has the “100th mover advantage” since they are so late into retail media sales, but that entering late will help them avoid the pitfalls of other companies' ad networks.
Tesco Marketplace relaunched last week after taking a hiatus since 2018. The marketplace is back with around 9,000 products from 3rd party sellers., and of course with all 3rd party marketplaces, ads are inevitable (although they haven't officially been announced).
The Washington Post introduced an advertising solution called Zeus Prime, which is intended to offer an alternative to Google and Facebook for publishers and advertisers. The publication partnered with buy-side demand platform Polar to build the ad-buying user interface. The product, for now, will allow clients to purchase ad inventory directly on the Washington Post in real time, with plans to add additional local and national media companies to the network.
Google is opening a new Google TV Network to get more advertisers to its free ad-supported programming. According to Google, over 20M devices tune into Google TV's free channels every month, spending a little over an hour watching per day. The channels currently play non-skippable ads and 6-second “bumper ads”, which Google isn't changing, but simply opening up a new network for advertisers to purchase inventory more easily. Google also noted that new ad formats may be coming in the future.
eBay will no longer accept American Express cards as a payment option on its platform because of “unacceptably high fees”. The company notified customers about the change last Wednesday, which is set to take effect August 17th. eBay noted that credit card transaction fees are rising unchecked due to lack of competition and that more robust regulations are needed in the industry to help lower fees — which caused every eBay seller on the planet to think, “Well isn't that just the pot calling the kettle black?” American Express shot back by saying that its fees are similar to other cards accepted on eBay and that dropping AMEX as a payment option contradicts eBay's stated goal of increasing competition at the point of sale. American Express also noted that eBay accounts for less than 0.2% of its total network volume, so like, whatevs.
TikTok Shop outperformed other e-commerce platforms including Temu, Shein, Etsy, and even Walmart, when it comes to customer retention, according to data from Earnest Analytics. It also beat out other social commerce platforms like Whatnot, Flip, and Instagram Checkout. TikTok seems to have cracked the code on customer retention, and they've done it in an entertaining way, without sending 140 promotional e-mails over two months like Temu. Amazon was the only e-commerce platform that beat TikTok Shop in the study, which looked at data between January 2022 and February 2024. That makes sense given that customers shop on Amazon for all of their household goods, not just for impulse products they discover. However the same could be said of Walmart, and TikTok beat them.
Sellers who use Amazon's Buy with Prime are seeing mixed results since the service launched a year and a half ago, according to Business Insider. The Bean Coffee Company says Buy with Prime only accounts for about 3% to 5% of sales, though they expect it to eventually grow to more as customers become familiar with the service. The owner says that determining the correct price to account for Amazon's shipping and fulfillment fees is the most difficult part of using Buy with Prime. Tria Beauty saw a 7% to 11% of its D2C sales come from Buy with Prime over the past 18 months. Despite the slow adoption and initial hiccups, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and company leadership told Business Insider that they are very confident about Buy with Prime because the initiative is still in its infancy.
The British Independent Retailers Association, which has thousands of members in the country, filed a £1.1B damages claim against Amazon for allegedly illegally misusing members' proprietary data for competitive purposes. The association is also claiming that Amazon manipulated which retailers were selected for its coveted “Buy Box.” The claim, although similar to other lawsuits and investigations in the past, both previous and ongoing, is the biggest ever collective action to be launched by retailers in the UK, covering the period between October 2025 and present. Andrew Goodacre, CEO of BIRA said in a statement, “Whilst the retailers knew about the large commissions charged by Amazon, they did not know about the added risk of their trading data being used by Amazon to take sales away from them. The filing of the claim today is the first step towards retailers obtaining compensation for what Amazon has done.”

The three companies will share certain data like IP addresses to prevent fraud transactions across each other's respective payment network.
Taobao, one of China's largest e-commerce websites owned by Alibaba, leaked 11.1M user records that include customers' names, phone numbers, and mailing addresses, according to a report by Cybernews, which said that someone was harvesting Taobao data illegally “possibly through web crawling or other unauthorized means.” Taobao rejected the report and said that the platform experienced no data leak.
X announced that they will now allow users to post adult content on its app, so long as it's properly marked, prompting every X user to ask the same question — “you couldn't do that before?” The content, however, will be prohibited from appearing in profile photos or banners.

PrettyLittleThing, a UK-based fast-fashion women's retailer, introduced a £1.99 fee for users to send back their unwanted clothing, which will be deducted from their refund. The company joins other e-commerce retailers like Boohoo, H&M, and Asos in introducing a returns fee.
The FAA issued Amazon Prime Air additional permissions that allow the division to operate drones beyond a visual line of sight, which is a typical requirement for all commercial drone operators. Amazon was able to acquire this special permission by developing an onboard detect-and-avoid system. Let's hope it works! The new authorization will allow Amazon to expand its delivery area in College Station, TX.
In other drone delivery news… Walmart added drone delivery as an option in its mobile app in areas where it offers the service. Starting later this month, customers in Dallas Fort Worth area will be notified of the new ordering capability through the Walmart app if they are eligible for drone delivery. The service will use drones from Alphabet's drone delivery service, Wing.
Shopify told employees that as of July 1, the company will no longer allow certain types of expense reimbursements including up to $55/month for home Internet, a $25 credit towards any Shopify merchant store on their birthdays, up to 50% of registration fees for employees looking to sign up for a sports team with their coworkers, and up to $1,200 a year for books, professional development subscriptions, and language-learning resources. Shopify said they need the money for that new executive compensation plan. LOL.
Cross-border sales volume of clothing and footwear in England dropped from £7.4B in 2019 to £2.7B in 2023 after Brexit, according to research from Retail Economic and Tradebyte. The Guardian wrote that the research “shows the extend to which complex regulations and red tape at the border have deterred firms from sending goods across the Channel.”
LoadUp, a junk removal company that offers eco-friendly waste management solutions, launched a new division called Refurn, which helps online furniture retailers reduce the cost of returns. After a customer returns a piece of furniture, Refurn lists the item for resell to its network of buyers, who pick up the item from the customer's home after it's resold. Sounds good if Refurn can flip the items fast enough! Otherwise the customer is stuck with a returned couch in their house for weeks.
DHL eCommerce relocated its Grand Prairie location to a 220k sq.ft. distribution center in Irving, TX. The company invested $57.5M in the land, construction, automation, and sustainability features of the facility, which will employ around 150 employees. The company is also closing its Raleigh NC distribution facility and eliminating 120 positions from the city by the end of July to move the operations to Concord.
Walmart said it expects to generate profits in its US e-commerce business in the next two years, including its advertising and consumer data businesses, according to its CFO John David Rainey, who added that Sam's Club is already profitable in e-commerce. Walmart's e-commerce business rose about 22% in sales during the latest quarter, while the company has simultaneously been working to drive down costs.
Copia Global, a Kenyan B2C e-commerce platform that allows retailers to shop and restock essential goods using a mobile app, has stopped taking orders from Central and Eastern Kenya due to cashflow challenges. Amazon is expanding its Grubhub partnership, which began in 2022 by allowing customers to order from Grubhub directly on Amazon.com or the Amazon app. Amazon Prime members will now automatically get a free Grubhub+ subscription, which usually costs $120/year and includes no delivery charges on orders over $12, among other perks.
A court ruled that Meta must face a lawsuit over claims it breached its terms of service by soliciting fraudulent advertisements from Chinese companies. The case was initially dismissed in 2022 by a judge who ruled the claims were barred by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, but a new ruling in appeals court says otherwise.
Zara is bringing its live-shopping broadcasts to the US, which are already popular in China, as part of its aim to attract shoppers as sales cool after the pandemic boom. AI companies could soon run out of publicly available training data for their large language models, according to a study by Epoch AI. The study predicts that sometime between 2026 and 2032, there won't be enough new blogs, news articles, or social media commentary to sustain the current trajectory of AI development, putting pressure on companies to tap into customers' private data in order to get a leg up. For example… Artists are currently outraged at Meta after the company confirmed how it was using public pictures on its apps to train its image generator, calling the act predatory in nature and threatening to leave Instagram. Then there's the whole Adobe fiasco that went down last week when Photoshop updated its TOS to give itself the right to review user designs stored in its cloud, including NDA work, and use it to train its AI tool. Adobe has since released a statement clarifying that it does not train its Firefly AI models on unpublished user content, but users aren't buying it.

I believe Blackberry’s shares should be worth $25 minimum based on the growth of their IoT revenue at 18% to 22% annually over the next decade and new revenue from their IVY platform starting in 2026. At a current price range of $2.50 to $3.00, we stand to make ten times our investment. Blackberry’s IVY platform will be the basis for vehicle app creation in new software-defined vehicles like Blackberry will be able to charge developers looking to create apps for connected vehicles through a fixed revenue license per car or per API call from the car. By creating the infrastructure and collecting a tiny fee for every API call passing through its platform, Blackberry will create a toll-booth-styled company like FICO, Visa, Moody’s, and Apple’s App Store.
Blackberry IVY’s platform collects and normalizes data from car sensors, so that developers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can use APIs to gain insights into the driver’s and car’s internal and external environment. Uses of vehicle sensors can include monitoring eye movement, heart rate, and air quality inside the vehicle. The end goal for these vehicle apps is to provide a better and more personalized user experience. Ultimately, Blackberry IVY’s platform will create an ecosystem for vehicle apps by being platform agnostic so it can work on top of any vehicle OS across all car brands. For example, video games that can be played on PlayStation or Nintendo’s Switch are OS agnostic, allowing them to be more readily accessible and popular. O’Reilly Media released a book in September 2023 titled The Software-Defined Vehicle: A Digital-First Approach to Creating Next-Generation Experiences proclaiming: “the holy grail of the [software-defined vehicle] is the vehicle app store.”
The World Economic Forum released a paper in May 2024 titled Advancing Industry Collaboration in Vehicle Software stating that applications in software-defined vehicles (SDV) will be the fastest growing and largest segment for the SDV with estimates for a total addressable market starting at $80 billion in 2023 and increasing to $230 billion in 2030. If Blackberry IVY grows its market share of the vehicle app store from a theoretically miniscule 0.05% to 0.1% over a decade, then IVY revenue will grow from $59 million to $230 million; quite the conservative assumption given that even the obscure search engine DuckDuckGo grew its market share in 2015 from 0.05% to 0.69% in January of 2024 compared to Google’s dominant 82% of market share.
During Blackberry’s investor briefing at CES 2024 in January, Vito Giallorenzo, CFO of Blackberry’s IoT division, explained that Blackberry can charge OEMs per sensor deployed and if they go above the agreed upon number of sensors, they will charge extra. He also made it clear that revenues should not be expected until 2026 given the long lead time in the car industry. During an interview with The Stack in October 2022, Vito explained that Blackberry IVY will generate revenue through two approaches:

When the iPhone firsts shipped in 2007 it managed to take 3% of market share when it was competing against the goliath of the time, Blackberry. By 2035, if the number of cars with IVY installed continues growing to 28 million (12% of the 235 million vehicles with QNX installed), then Blackberry will recognize $235 million in revenue. So, we arrive at almost identical results using two different methods to calculate Blackberry’s potential revenue leading me to be confident in our line of reasoning.
Some of the risk Blackberry faces on its road to profitability include delays in new cars being shipped because of supply chain issues which would push revenue further out. Adoption of their platform may take a while since most OEMs remain stubborn in outsourcing their software needs. And the question of the profit-sharing agreement between Amazon remains unanswered. There are also fears that Apple will successfully take over the smart car through the development of its own autonomous vehicle and CarPlay.
According to the Bloomberg article How Apple Sank About $1 Billion a Year Into a Car It Never Built, Apple ended its autonomous vehicles project after spending approximately $10 billion with no apparent successes such as Amazon’s cloud software connecting to the car or Blackberry’s QNX vehicle OS. A very important test for Warren Buffett in determining the strength of a moat is whether a competitor can replicate or weaken the moat with a massive checkbook. At the 2012 Berkshire meeting, Buffett talked about Coke’s moat, “If you gave me $10, $20, $30 billion to knock off Coca-Cola, I couldn’t do it.” It is encouraging to see that Blackberry’s QNX and IVY platform remain unaffected so far. During an April 2024 interview on Decoder podcast with Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius, the host asked whether Apple CarPlay will take over the Hyperscreen of the vehicle. Mercedes CEO Ola gave a sobering “No.” Ola elaborates:

So, before I dive in, you might as well hand me a red flag because I'm basically a walking red flag.
It all kicked off when I crushed on this guy for like 2 whole years and finally spilled the beans. He's a total sweetheart, adores cats, rocks a constant smile, is always lending a helping hand, hits the gym for that fit life, and speaks with such a gentle tone. And guess what? It took us forever to actually get together.
In the early stages of our thing, we were texting non-stop and throwing in some calls here and there. We just clicked, you know? Got so comfy being our true selves around each other.
So, he opens up about his cheating ex, and suddenly, it's a rollercoaster of insecurities and doubts on his end. But hey, did I ever gripe about it? Nope. I'd reassure him every darn time that I'm here to stay, no matter what. And don't even get me started on the nightly sleep calls, talk about messing up my sleep routine just to chat with him. I even prepared a list of topics, just in case we hit a dull moment.
Then, after months of this routine, he drops that bombshell joke – "If I stop having our sleep calls, it means I don't love you" – right after I mentioned feeling sleepy.
