2024.05.21 07:17 TedTalked 🇺🇸 American blown away by Punjabi music. Recommendations?

Regular American guy here. So I got lucky and scored tickets to see Dilijit Dosanjh live in concert the other day. I didn’t really know much about him or what to expect to be honest, so I came in 100% blind.
Well…I was 1 of maybe less than 10 Non-Desi people in the sold out arena. Clearly this guy is a superstar. Walking in, I felt like I was in another country. It was honestly fascinating. Very cool experience.
And then Diljit comes out…and puts on an AMAZING show.
Even though I didn’t understand a single word the entire night, I had the time of my life!
The music was just SO good, I was completely mesmerized. Even the fusion hip-hop and afrobeat songs were 🔥 and I also liked the more traditional sounding songs.
The energy in the crowd was infectious. I loved how high-energy everyone was. Honestly haven’t experienced anything like it. Would love to see another show.
And…I think I’m a Punjabi music fan now?
Can anyone recommend me some of your favorite songs, albums, or artists I should check out?
Main ik simple American mundaa haan. So, main lucky enough si ke main tickets mil gaye Diljit Dosanjh da live concert vekhan layi kal. Mainu us bare bahut kuch pata nahi si ya kis tarah da expect karna hai, sach taan main 100% bina jaan vich gaya si.
Well...Main shayad ehde ch kam se kam 10 Non-Desi lokan vich ton ek si jo sold-out arena vich si. Clearly, eh banda ik superstar hai. Walking in, main feel kita ke main ik hor desh vich haan. Eh sach vich fascinating si. Ik bahut hi cool experience.
Te fer Diljit aaya...te ek AMAZING show kita.
Hun ke main poori raat vich kise shabd nu samjha nahi, main apne life da time kita!
Music simply SO good si, main poori tarah se mesmerized si. Fusion hip-hop te afrobeat songs vi 🔥 si te mainu hor traditional wale songs vi pasand si.
Crowd da energy infectious si. Mainu eh pasand si ke jadon tak energy wale sab hunde si. Sach taan, main kuch vi aise experience nahi kita. Ik hor show dekhna pasand karunga.
Te...Mainu lagda ke main Punjabi music da fan ho gaya?
Kise nu mere favorite songs, albums, ya artists recommend kar sakda hai jo main check kar sakda haan?

2024.05.21 06:08 cottonearbud How do you overcome this insecurity when you realise that you aren't your partner type?

I had always suspected but now I got this confirmed that I don't at all fit the description of his type. I am a very dark skinned person who isn't skinny, but imagine atheletic but slightly chubby (inverted triangle but chubby). He likes skinny/fit women who is quite fair(like those Punjabi or kashmiri girls)
I always felt that he isn't attracted to me, it's just that he likes me as a person and likes to hang out with me. He has never expressed this to me, but I never feel like he adores my figure or me in general. I catch him sometimes looking at these women(who are his type) and I feel bad. It's not like he is doing this on purpose.
I have mentioned that I don't think you are attracted to me multiple times but he always dismisses it and says if I'm not attracted to you why will I be in this long term relationship with you.
But it just feels like he is letting go of his attractive preferences and is just with me because I understand him and love him.
I know he loves me too. But it sucks to know this.
Have you ever experienced something like this? How do you overcome this insecurity?

2024.05.21 05:18 r0cks33n9915 Analyzing all the hyped albums in this sub

Bayaan - Top tier work by seedhe maut, beautifully expressing their hunger and skill and their will to establish themselves in the scene. Tracks like kyu and uss din help me a lot when I am low.
Nayaab - A vital part of their discography, A great Album, deemed as Best by a lot of people in this sub and i agree. This album expresses the fact that they have established themselves in the industry and that reflects in the writing.
Tabia - TBH a lot of you like this album but this did not hit as hard. Prolly I overexpected but I am from punjab and his punjabi seems very fake in this album, It has that hindi touch which is the only reason i dont listen to prabh deep a lot.
Tadipaar - A LOT OF people think that this is the best album of DHH and can never be replaced. This is the only work by stan that i like a lot and listen to on a regular basis. Stan showcases his lyrical as well as production skills in this album and I think this is a great album.
Khanabadosh - Album is something which has a central Idea or a common base which it touches in almost every track. I could not find the central Idea in this album. If it was marketed as a mixtape, i think it would have been better. However, I listen to it regularly.
Open letter - Talha Anjum's Only album, and he did not miss. The tracks which are considered a "skip" by almost everyone in this sub (kaam pura and flex) grew on me later. The outro track made me cry tbh.
Lostalgia - I have seen this being mentioned a lot, I LOVE this album, this got all type of tracks, I bumped it almost daily last month. The track "you owe me a life" stood out for me.
Sab chahiye - This album also helped me a lot in 2021 when i was low, The concept of 17 faces is great. I play it like once every two months but I live this album a LOT.
Meen - Yungsta DID NOT miss with his debut album. He snapped tbh. Acc to me, this was AOTY 2023. I played the track dilli and hona hi tha on a daily basis in 2023 lol, Every track is a banger in this album.
Rvab - Sorry, I could not understand it and the voice was very annoying. Dhanji just isnt for me.
Karam - People are not talking about it anymore, but i think it deserves a mention. The tracks were good but the retention rate was low. Only tracks i still play from this album are Legacy, Haath Varti, Bhussi, Tere bina and khoya sab. Khoya sab is my favourite though.
Street Dreams - Some tracks were balanced. Some tracks KA was better like overseas. In some tracks Divine was better like Hisaab. I love this album too, If umair had not released his album, This could be AOTY lol.
I have a lot of other albums but i dont wanna make this post any longer. I will probably make a part 2 in which i will cover more of divine, Emiway.
I have a job which requires me to do repetitive work, so i can have my headphones on and listen to albums all day. I dont have a playlist or anything. Suggest me more albums to describe, and hopefully i will make another part if mods dont remove this post lol.

2024.05.21 01:53 DepartureHonest7948 The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence!

CMM.World & CMMTheology.org
The Great Harvest is here. Christ's Mandate for Missions and CMMTheology build strong, organic relationships globally as we worship, grow and equip together. Like Joshua and Caleb and the Apostle Paul, we see with faith what He sees in each person (to help each reach fullness), group (many streams and backgrounds in unity) and nations (sheep vs. goat nations). Our passion is to love, connect, equip and send with the simplicity, fullness, and power of the Gospel.
The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence! Inbox
By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - November 10, 2022
Dear Mighty One,
I see the Lord's eye upon us we discover by revelation the 'new thing' He is doing in our lives and of those of us who, beyond the present darkness, gaze into His eyes. The 'tuning fork' of Yahweh is orchestrating the sons and daughters of our living God in growing holy remnant unity to withstand as we stand with Him fearlessly in the boldness of the faith of God in this hour. Egypt is behind us, and the covenantal promises and prophetic words we have received (1 Tim. 1:18) empower us by His Holy Spirit to advance in warfare, humbly growing in the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Yesterday as I encouraged some friends, I said, 'stay in the blissful extravagance of His presence.' Today I saw in Psalm 34 His eyes are upon us in vs. 8 & 9 and v:15 about the 'uncompromisingly righteous.' We are to be holy as He is holy. That leaves no room for any more compromise or seeking to please man or the traditions of men, being free of the fear of man, the religious spirit, and any demonic activity. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Lord, help us understand by revelation to walk in all the authority we have been given by Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:8-9 'O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.'
v. 15 'The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.'
Chuck Pierce shared this amazing word from Penny Jackson that is right on for this season: https://christsmandate.blogspot.com/2022/11/chuck-pierce-shares-powerful-word-from.html
May YOUR November be full of Thanksgiving and Praise for you and yours as YOU enjoy The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence!
Thank you for praying for CMM and all your fellow CMM Global Family worldwide. Pray for all the missionaries, schools, and students in CMM College of Theology in the US, Ecuador, Canada, Cuba, Myanmar, Nigeria, and Thailand.
Pray for the new wells and the living water and safe water recently drilled or soon to be drilled in Tanzania, India, Malawi, and Pakistan.
Pray for our upcoming Christmas gift campaigns to bless children and youth in many nations. Many of them are precious, beautiful children (orphans). As the Lord leads, pray about giving any amount to bless dear CMM children this Christmas. https://cmmworld.kindful.com/
Pray for each other, dear friends. We all know we each need prayers going up to Heaven for all those on the front lines. We each are on the front lines!
Please pray for me as I speak tomorrow online to a crusade with 8,000 expected to attend in Pakistan. In December, I will speak at conferences in Liberia and Kenya with fellow CMM Ordained ministers Robert Bimba (Liberia), Tom Omukhobero, and Daniel and Christine Oyoko (Kenya).
We are working on plans and trips for 2023. If you would like to have some of our awesome CMM family speakers for a conference in your area or would like to join or lead a missions trip, we would love to hook you up with dear friends in many nations.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Louis Blom of Judea Harvest as Associate Director of Missions at CMM. This strategic alliance multiplies the efforts and impact in building the Kingdom of our God, for His glory. https://youtu.be/HXfP8tCySRc

Many blessings and shalom from us all here at the home office and around the world.

Honoring and Celebrating the Class of 2022's 196 Graduates of CMM College of Theology Global Schools
By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - June 15, 2022

We are rejoicing! We just celebrated two of our six schools' graduations on June 4th in the US and June 11th in Ecuador and we thank the Lord for all He has done in their lives and will do in this new era. We honor the faith in action of each of the seventy-eight students (in the USA and Ecuador schools this year)of all ages and from different streams and backgrounds. We thank the Lord for the hunger, perseverance and faith to finish strong. Each one encountered the Lord in fresh new ways as their hunger and perseverance in faith reaped eternal change as evidenced in their dissertations and heavenly encounters. In the last few months we have graduated 196 students from our global schools. All glory to the Lord as we enter our 16th year of offering affordable, life changing accredited degrees around the world. Each year our school is led by the Holy Spirit to go higher and deeper in excellence in academic standards and spirit-led equipping in a truly experiential, interactive, a

Prophetic Encouragement for 2022 by Jorge Parrott
By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - January 02, 2022

Prophetic Encouragement for 2022 By Jorge Parrott (all scriptures NKJV) (Graphic art by Nancy G. Daniel) Despite the impending wars, division, chaos, calamity, and deceptive controls we hear the voice of our Lord at times speaking, or roaring, or whispering, and breathing on the sons of God. Are we listening yet? Heaven’s roar is clear to those with an ear to hear what the Spirit of the Living God is saying. This year holds untold opportunities, many answered prayers, and the cries of many hearts if we arise to walk obediently in His fullness, not growing weary in well-doing, nor fainting in the heat of this fiery battle. Deut. 6:4 ‘ The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.’ Jesus was asked many questions. What should you ask

Highlights Of Our Amazing Trip To The Holy Land With Chris Reed And Bart Peacher

Highlights Of Our Amazing Trip To The Holy Land With Chris Reed And Bart Peacher Prov. 16:9 ' A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.' We are continually blessed and in awe of how the Lord breathes and moves in our lives. As we press into the high calling of Jesus Christ and we grow in intimacy and trust by faith, His love, grace, and mercy unfold in surprising ways. I had not been to Israel since 2017. So much has changed in the world since then as we see the tremendous acceleration of the times and seasons. Chaos, control, and corruption are increasing at an alarming rate. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ and His righteousness. Divine Encounters Abound As We Are Led By Holy Spirit And Make Ourselves Available Many churches are led by their pursuit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of the knowledge of the Tree of Life. As we surrender fully to the Holy Spirit, we learn to walk in deep humility and attenti

2024.05.20 16:15 JustaS33ker So I am from a Sikh background and always find myself in between Sikhi and Baha'i faith

The idea about progressive revelation makes sense to me. The deep focus on living a life of hard work and deep spirituality is something I really admire, and how diversely the Baha'i faith has grown around the world for its age and without the need of political conquests over land. And I love the principles of the faith. To me sometimes it does feel like the natural place for me to potentially be, although I'm still exploring and some things like speaking about equality and UHJ male members and the idea of the descendants of Baha'ullah being treated as infallible despite themselves not being manifestations of God. Maybe I'll understand more as time goes.
One major thing for me though is that I have a very, very deep love and admiration for the Sikh gurus. I believe in the scripture, I love their hymns and what they stand for. As Sikhs we also believe the Gurus received their teachings from God. I just believe that beyond the spiritual structure, the practical day to day structure isn't necessarily needed as it was back in the day and from that sense Baha'i faith appears to me like a natural progression.
Is it possible for me to believe that Baha'ullah was a manifestation of God but to also keep my Sikh beliefs, visit the gurdwaras, do the prayers and so on? I know some could say I may as well remain a Sikh and that is maybe so, but I don't always feel quite at home in practicing the faith in modern day. But especially for a Punjabi Sikh like me, there's just a heck lot of history around martyrdom and sacrifice for me to easily treat it like it was needless or for nothing.
I don't know. Hopefully I can have a good conversation with you kind people here :)

2024.05.19 14:25 No_Wind_0930 I want to make my father learn a lesson

We are two daughters of our parents. My father is a business man. He has always been dominating and had the audacity to raise hand on my mother. He had that arrogance of providing us with food and stuff. Though he gave us good education, he was very restrictive and strict. There was no TV, we were not allowed to go out with our friends, we were not allowed to invite our friends at home too and much more. I am a younger one. I use to be good in studies. I use to be an obedient child and always made sure to make my parents proud. On the contrary, my elder sister was average in studies. Even there were 1000 restrictions on us, my sister did some blunders in past like bunk school or having male friends (which obviously we were not allowed to at all). She once was caught with a phone (it was her friend's phone) when she was in 10th class and my mother beat her so bad. She promised that she needs to mend her ways otherwise she will tell our dad. But my sister got so scared that she attempted suicide. But by god's grace, she was saved. I just can't forget that day. This way you might get a glimpse at what level we were afraid of him. My mother never raised voice against my father even after physical abuse. I remember the days when i use to sit outside their room for hours and hours during night with a pillow as they use to fight. I use to be scared what if something happens wrong, though i never has the courage to stop them. I thought that this might be disrespectful. Many nights i just use to sit outside their room with a pillow and when they get to sleep, i use to go back to my room and sleep. When I was 17-18 years old, my father made a plan to thailand with this friends. We were not so happy as we also wanted to go for a trip. Anyhow, not seeing our reaction, he planned. Our mother never had an issue with this as our father use to bribe her with some gold or something (she was fond of jewelry). Also, he never treated our mother right (especially during trips-physical abuse or marital rape we can say) so she use to avoid going out. I myself sensed this thing many times. I use to share bed with them when any relatives use to come to our place. I use to sense him asking for sex and then my mother denying. He use to hold her from neck and that use to rip me apart but i never had the courage to stop him. So yeah, he travelled to thailand and cam back home. One fine day, he asked me and my sister to delete our the unnecessary photos and videos from him phone. I took the phone and started deleting. The next thing i saw was a video and i trembled. We saw a video of my father dancing with a girl in a hotel room. I WAS JUST SO SCARED. Phone fell from my hand. It was a long video, but i only saw 5-6 secs of it. Me and my sister deleted the video and never told anyone about it. We ourselves also never discussed it with anyone. My father use to click pictures with air hostesses and some random girls that he met in thailand. He use to post those pictures as no one had the courage to say him anything on this face. Punjabi people, especially men find it very normal but not normal if any women does it. Years passed, my sister turned 23. One day my sister got caught with a boy in a hotel room. She told that she had a bf who was 5-6 elder from him and was involved in a travel agency job. He belonged to a service class family, average looking and middle class background. My father refused. He met the guy and was not happy. Proper blackmailing like you broke my trust, how can you find a bf, it is our responsibility to find one for you etc started. She was tortured. She was made sit at home for one year. All household work was done by her and she was always taunted. They turned everything hell for her. I also was not able to do anything as I had no idea how could i help. Even i didn't had that mind to understand if she was right or no. When she turned 24-25, marriage talks popped up. My father found a rich business class guy for her. We all were happy and she got married in two months. Thankfully it turned out good for her that she got to get out from this home. I started having problem with my father here. He use to pretend such a nice guy infront of everyone. He use to portray that he is the nicest man and can do anything for her family. Though deep inside we were aware he is the worst person who beats up his wife, makes every little thing work as per his own choice, does not give a fuck about his daughters and does not respect. Every other person started thinking that he is such a gentleman and my mother is arrogant which was not true. My father is a business man and knows how to talk in a group of people and how to pretend. My mother on other hand, is introvert, so some might think of her as an arrogant person. He started gifting expensive stuff to my sister's in laws place to make himself look good. And when we use to ask for money and stuff, he never gave us enough to meet our needs. We always use to compromise. Never wore brand or never went to good place for dinners etc but they were gifted brands, thousand and lakhs of money were given to them, though they never demanded and always use to say no to those gifts. At this stage, my age came of getting married. And my perspective for my father changed. Whenever my marriage talk popped up, it use to scare the shit out of me. I started thinking what if my partner turned out to be just like my father. What i will do where will i go and how will i manage everything. Because i was aware once i get married, there is no turning back. I have to make that marriage work no matter what happens. My parents will never support me or take me back if my partner turns out to be bad. They will ask me to accept it saying it is your destiny. When it comes to marriage, every girl try to sees her father's characteristics in her to be husband. And when i use to imagine, i started running away from the word of marriage. I just got scared that every other men is like him who is dominating, disrespectful and raise his hands on his wives. I tried to escape from it saying i want to pursue my studies. On the other hand, I met a wonderful guy. I never thought i would fall for a guy like him. He is a goofy guy with a good heart. He is a senior manager in a government bank. The man of my dreams, i never ever met guy in my life who was so nice and kind to talk. Though i had few male friends, i never felt like that for them. I opened my heart and my mind infront of him. I shared everything with him, even those things which i never use to think of alone or which use to scare the shit out of me. Now the problems comes. He is basically from Himachal Pradesh, further from a small town, a very simple family. Our teva also doesn't matches. We belong to a upper business class family. I talked about this with my father and mother and my god, it turned out so bad. He threatened me saying he will boycott me and ask my sister and other relatives too to cut me off. I don't want to lose touch with my sister as she is the only one who i have. She also cannot do anything for me. I love him alot and we cannot live without each other. My sister's husband is nice but he will also not approve of him because he also has that richie rich mentality. I don't have anyone's support and now i feel suicidal. I don't know what to do and where to go #pleasehelp

2024.05.17 22:54 BubbleTeaWithPearlss Missing Toronto

I grew up near Keele and St. Clair.
My parent’s home country had a civil war and they were forced to flee (roughly 35 years ago). This became their new home in Toronto. My parents did everything they could to respect the country they came to. They adapted to Canadian culture while teaching us their own culture. They built their life as Canadians. Also made friends with people who were from different backgrounds.
I loved Toronto growing up! I even had a bit of pride. “Chrono”! (Don’t worry, no toronto accent here).
My neighbourhood was very multicultural; Portuguese, Guyanese, Grenadian, El Savadorian, Somali, Punjabi, Jamaican, Caucasian, Vietnamese, Chinese, you get the picture.
I haven’t really experienced racism in the community I was from, because of how diverse we were.
I remember going to the school grounds every evening after school and playing soccer. Going to the corner store and grabbing freezies, candy and Arizona. I remember sitting on the park benches just talking with my friends and neighbours. Neighbours weren’t random people living next to you, they would be friends. Coming over to your home, and vice versa. A real community.
It wasn’t just my community. Every community seemed to be in this form in one way or another. Now Toronto doesn’t seem recognizable…
Drivers are more careless.
Neighbours are strangers.
Neighbourhood seem unsafe.
Everyone is stressed out because of the economy.
Everything is too expensive.
And a lot of immigrants are not respecting our home.
Leading to my rant now…
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on people coming to Canada to make a life here . My parents came here and I am able to say I’m a Canadian.
But I noticed many immigrants, are mistreating the people and the city. There is no care to be a part of toronto, but rather, forming independent groups with social cues, mannerisms, ideologies separated from our communities here.
I’m not against bringing different cultures here, that’s what makes Canada - Canada. I’m saying, befriend us, learn our culture, don’t just keep to “your own”, learn the country and also teach us your culture as well! Share your background with us! But please! Respect the country, keep it safe.
Canadians don’t shut immigrants out. We also have a role in all of this. Befriend people who are coming. Don’t be racist. Understand one another. Teach eachother what Canada is in love!
Toronto can get back to what it used to be!

2024.05.16 19:27 RagaJunglism [English/Bengali > Bengali] I'd love some help with typing up this handwritten list of Bengali raga names! No actual translation required...but I wasn't sure where else was best to ask

I’ve recently been adding transliterated raga names to my Megalist of 365+ Ragas (an open-access, ad-free guide to Hindustani raga). But my Bengali skills are...very lacking: so I’d absolutely love to find someone who can help me with typing up this list of Bengali raga names - so I can add them to my raga pages (kindly supplied by a vocalist, copied from old music textbooks).
I really want to help everyone find more about the ragas they love, in whichever language they search in! I’ll add your name(s) to the project contributors list...which currently features a range of top raga artists as well as scholars, music theorists, etc
(I’d also love to track down translations in other languages too: particularly Urdu, Punjabi, and Gujarati, plus any Dravidian languages especially for the Carnatic-derived ragas. All contributions fully credited!

2024.05.16 15:30 Temporary_Coast_7728 Need advice and clarity from Malaysians

I might mention race and cultural differences in this post, if you might find it offensive please don't read ahead.
I'm a Sri Lankan Indian Muslim (Sri Lankan National with Tamil Ancestry). Grew up in Mumbai, India and did my schooling undergrad there. Moved to Malaysia for my postgrad studies in KL. I have a crush with a Chindian girl (Chinese Punjabi mix, Malaysian National). Her family is Christian Chinese cultural mixed.
We both have common classes in uni and meet up every class we have, chat general stuff on WhatsApp and slight jokes (This is what we call puppy love in our country). I don't want to go out on a date or develop more feelings for her if things are going to be hard for me and her in the future if we were to get married because of several racial issues that I've heard in this subreddit. Moreover my family has only one criteria for me that is the girl if were to love is to be a Muslim and all other factors don't matter to them. And to marry early is what they prefer instead of getting into Haram things (muslims might know what I mean). I've asked her indirectly a lot of questions and we both have quite a lot of doubts that I'll list down.
Now coming to my questions.
  1. If we were to marry her in Malaysia officially, will she be forced to convert to Islam by the authorities ? (Cuz she prefers to stay in Malaysia)
  2. I'm not well versed with Chindian culture and their traditions, considering the fact she's a Christian mix. How well would it work out between our families ? (We might prefer to live separately from our family if there's so much of a hassle and nag from each other)
  3. Assuming she converts to Islam just for namesake, does the moral police in here force her to wear covered dress, not allow her to eat during Ramadan and so on and so forth in public places ? (She doesn't have the Muslim look if you're gonna ask this and modest clothing is her choice)
  4. What about children born out of our wedlock here in Malaysia ? Their struggles, religion, customs and traditions ? Issues with both family sides.
These kinda questions make me not move ahead though I like her a lot. As a fellow Malaysian what's your take on this ? This is not dating advice that I'm asking but a concern if these were to happen in the future cuz I don't wanna hurt her and struggle later on.

2024.05.16 15:07 justamanhehe Ve mahiya tere vekhan nu - what does the song mean.

Thank you so much everyone for showing love in my previous post. Link - https://www.reddit.com/indiasocial/s/hOHCamxGaC
So since I got many dms and many more comments, here we go with the translation of ve mahiya tere vekhan nu.
At this point, I must say this is one of the most difficult things I have written in my life. So if you disagree somewhere, please share your perspective in comments, that too in a way others can appreciate it. Let's start.
"Ve maahiya tere vekhan nu, chuk charkha gali de vich daawa"
This is a fairly easy sentence. A lover wants to get a glimpse of their beloved, and hence rather than spinning the yarn inside the house, they put it in the street.
Literally saying, Oh lover to be able to see you, I pick up my spinning wheel and put it in the street.
But it's deeper than that. Bulleh Shah loves God, and he finds a metaphor as if his body is like a spinning wheel, which he has put into this world (street) to get a glimpse of God.
"Ve loka paane main kat di, tang teriya yaad de panwa"
Ve loka paane main kat di means people think I'm spinning the threads of cotton. As in I'm spending time with my body, doing some actions. Remember how Bulleh Shah was a reformist and people didn't really understand his ideas at that time. They couldn't understand why bulleh did what he did. So they think he is just passing time and doing his deeds.
tang teriya yaadan de paawan means that in whatever action I do (spinning wheel) I put threads of your memories into it. so no matter what I am doing. dancing , eating, talking, writing, whatever I am doing, you are what I am thinking about.
"Charkhe di oo kar de ole, yaad teri da tumba bole"
charke di oo kar de ole means I put the spinning wheel aside, as in I no longer wish to do anything at all. so I keep my body aside, stoping my actions. Yaad Teri da Tumba bole means there is a very high pitched music of your memories (in Bulleh's heart). Tumba here doesn't refer to the drum but to a punjabi musical instrument, also called Tumbi. I don't know how many of you remember it, but there was a song, Baby Doll main sone di, There was a tumbi (or tumba) in that song. It's the same tumba.
This is important because when you play tumbi, the sound is not much loud (as compared to a drum) but it's high pitched similarly what Bulleh feels is not loud (not many people understand) but is very high pitched ( high intensity) of memories.
"ve nimma nimma geet ched ke, tand kat'di hullare khaanwaan"
Ve nimma nimma geet ched ke means singing but in low voice ( along with high pitched tumba, so again not many people hear it)
Tand Kat'di hullare khaanwaan means I'm spinning the wheel gently (like not that ambitious to do activities, just doing bare minimum) and I'm thinking about the time we would finally meet (basically daydreaming)
"Vasan ni dende saure peke, mainu tere pain pulekhe"
Vasan ni dende as in they don't let me settle and saure peke means the family and the in laws. Basically none of my relatives accept me or let me stay with them (because remember Bulleh Shah gave up everything). Pulekhe means an illusion. Mainu tere pain pulekhe means I get illusions of you, like you are here in front of me when you are actually not.
"Ve hun mainu das mahiya, tere baaju kidhar nu jaava"
Oh love now tell me, where shall I go except for you.
I hope I was able to share something new and make this song more beautiful for you all.
Bonus Fact: This is a very unrelated unknown thing but I think if you have read this far, you might appreciate it too. So do you guys recall a guy "Bahadur Shah Zafar" from the first war of independence, 1857, a Mughal king who fought along with tatya tope and the likes. rings a bell? So he was also a poet and I recently read his poetry. I was IMPRESSED. I'm attaching his 3 shers that are simple to understand and I love them.
  1. Tumne kiya na yaad kabhi bhul kar hame, Hamne tumhari yaad mein sabkuch bhula diya.
  2. Koi kyu kisi ka lubhae dil, Koi kya kisi se lagaye dil, Vo jo bechte the dava-e-dil Voh dukaan apni badha gaye
  3. Na dunga dil use main ye hamesha kehta tha, Voh aaj le hi gaya aur 'Zafar' se kuch na hua.

We open with a recap of Fatal Alliance, highlighting some of the key moments that occurred during the event, leading up to the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship match between Masato Kojima and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones in a Hardcore Hell match. The match itself was a bloodfest with Kojima emerging as the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion. We then see highlights of the CPWA World Tag Team Championship match between The Mortician and Mangod taking on The Jordans (Shelton and Elijah). The match was hard-hitting and explosive, but the Mortician and Mangod won the match and regained the CPWA Tag Team Championships.
The package ends and we open with a 30-second intro highlighting all of the stars of CPWA as The Roots' "BOOM" plays in the background. The intro ends with "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones holding the CPWA Heavyweight Championship belt over his head. Pyro goes off in the arena for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd.
Brian Kinsley: We welcome you to CPWA Octane! We are coming to you live from Indianapolis, Indiana! Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, and it's the fallout from Fatal Alliance!
Anthony Harris: We also have new champions, including new CPWA Tag Team Champions and of course, a NEW CPWA World Heavyweight Champion! Not to mention, that we'll be kicking off the second annual CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament.
Sir Samuel Stewart: Let's take it to the ring!
Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena as "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, along with Brother Julius make their entrance to address the crowd. Lejuan and Brother Julius enter the ring and address the crowd.
LeJuan Jones: My goals of becoming a double champion in two different promotions went up in flames thanks to not only Devon Gatlin-Tyson, but also Masato Kojima. I was supposed to be the true thriving force in not just CPWA, but also in UWC. I was expected to retain and go forth to dominating, but now I can't even do that. If you were expecting to see Masato Kojima tonight, he flew all the way back to Japan, where he can celebrate with the rest of his fellow hooligans. However, there is someone here tonight that's going to be competing in the main event again, and that's you DGT!
Big K.R.I.T.'s "Reign On" plays in the arena as GM Ronny Sharpe stands on the entrance stage.
GM Ronny Sharpe: LeJuan, you will not put your hands on Devon Gatlin-Tyson tonight. Seeing as you are still recuperating from your match, I would advise you not to interfere in tonight's main event, but then again, I am not Brother Julius, who should be telling you otherwise. Should you or any member of Number One Enterprises interfere in the main event tonight, LeJuan, you will never challenge for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship again!
Brian Kinsley: That ought to slow his roll.
GM Ronny Sharpe: And another thing, UWC reached out to me and they are considering Devon Gatlin-Tyson to be the number one contender for their World Heavyweight Championship! So it looks like your title opportunities have vanished!
LeJuan is extremely livid from the revelation.
Anthony Harris: Sucks to be "The Number One Pick" right now.
Sir Samuel Stewart: I'm not sure what LeJuan Jones is gonna do until then...
We cut to the backstage area and we see Devon Gatlin-Tyson being interviewed by Kimberly Reynolds. DGT expresses his grattitude about being named number one contender for the UWC World Heavyweight Championship and believes that he is poised for great things in the future.
We cut back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for...

Match 1: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: First Round: Rory Irvine vs. Money Mark
The opening match to kick off the second annual CPWA Super Junior Carnival felt more drab than the usual lightning quick, crisp, and precise action you would expect from the Cruiserweights. Both guys felt like they had to rush through the match after a lengthy segment from LeJuan Jones. Rory won the match with a Celtic Cruifix Drop. Rory Irvine will face the winner of Tiger Kazama and El Colibri.
We cut to a recap of the CPWA Tag Team Championship match between The Mortician and Mangod taking on The Jordans (Shelton and Elijah), which lasts for a minute. The recap ends and we cut back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is a first-round match for the CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament.

Punjabi MC's "Sounds of the Des" plays in the arena
Announcer: And his opponent, from Mumbai, India, Sharnaz Khan.
Match 2: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: First Round: Keith Yang vs. Sharnaz Khan
Give Sharnaz Khan the credit for taking a two-time CPWA World Heavyweight Champion in Keith Yang to his limit and more. Khan jumped out the gate hot and looked to pull off a major upset, but it wasn't meant to be. Keith Yang managed to weather the storm and hit Khan with Yang Time to get the win. Keith Yang will face the winner of Daigo Yoshimura and Silver Eyes.

We then see a graphic hyping up a match between Kwazi Nkosi and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon. We then cut to a graphic hyping up a match between The Olympians' Sanya Felix and Number One Enterprises' Big Angela.
***Commercial Break***
We come back from commercial break and we see Sabina Bellini being interviewed by Kevin Meyers. Sabina expresses disdainfully about losing the CPWA Women's International Championship and vows to win it back. Kiara Thompson and Big Angela walk into the interview, scoffing at Sabina before leaving. Sabina frowns and shakes her head in disgust.
We cut back to the ring.

Announcer: And her opponent, representing Number One Enterprises, accompanied to the ring by Kiara Thompson, from Newark, New Jersey, she is Big Angela
Match 3: Sanya Felix vs. Big Angela
Big Angela continues to impress and improve in the ring by leaps and bounds. Her match against Sanya Felix saw her match speed with surprising speed and raw strength. Felix looked for the win, but former Olympian and tag partner Kiara Thompson distracted the referee. This allowed Big Angela to throw Sanya Felix off the top turnbuckle, hit her with a spear, and a Banzai Splash to get the win.
FIVE STARS!!!!!

The arena lights go out and we hear an ominous female voice.
Ominous Female Voice: Pretty Boy...oh Pretty Boy...punish...them...all!
Glitter Wasteland's "Cold War (Nightcrawler Remix)" plays in the arena as blue and red lighting fill the arena.
Announcer: And his opponent, he is Pretty Boy!
Match 4: The Floribama Boyz (Jeremy and Kirk G.) vs. Pretty Boy
Pretty Boy decimated the Floribama Boyz in brutal fashion, despite the tag team doing their best to subdue him. Pretty Boy ended the match with two tombstone piledrivers to Jeremy and Kirk G., pinning them on top of each other to secure the victory.
FIVE STARS!!!!!
After the match, Pretty Boy continued brutalizing the Floribama Boyz. Suddenly, Nu Breed's "Florida" plays in the arena as "Florida Man" Gary Strange rushes down to the ring and attacks Pretty Boy with a steel chair. "Florida Man" brings the fight to Pretty Boy, causing referees and road agents to rush in and break up the fight. Despite their efforts, Pretty Boy and "Florida Man" resumed their fight.
We cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Marco Rocha and Owen Benoit-Jericho. We then cut to a graphic hyping up the main event between The Olympians' Jordan Angle and Devon Gatlin-Tyson and Iron-Willed (Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller). We then see a graphic hyping up a match between Kwazi Nkosi and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon.
***Commercial Break***
We come back from commercial break and we see Pretty Boy and "Florida Man" Gary Strange carrying their fight to the backstage area. Referees, road agents, and several competitors rush over to break up the fight. "Florida Man" then yells obscenities at Pretty Boy.
We then see Brother Julius on his cell phone with someone. Brother Julius nods and smiles before hanging up his cell phone and walking away with a satisfied look on his face. We cut back to the ring.

Announcer: And his opponent, from Seoul, South Korea, he is "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon!
Match 5: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: First Round: Kwazi Nkosi vs. "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon
A somewhat decent match, but the finish kinda soured since it felt like it was called on the fly. "The Korean Idol" had control for much of the match, but every now and then, Kwazi would make some sort of comeback. After a nearfall finish, Kwazi mounted a final comeback and won the match with a Phoenix Splash. Kwazi Nkosi will face the winner of Mark Starr and Deron "Ron" Jordan.
2 out of 5 stars.
We see Brother Julius talking with "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones about who he was on the phone with and whispers in his ear. LeJuan nods and daps up Brother Julius. We cut back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is a first-round match for the CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament.
Gabriel O Pensador's "Sem Parar" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion Marco Rocha.
Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena
Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he is Owen Benoit-Jericho.
Match 6: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: First Round: Marco Rocha vs. Owen Benoit-Jericho
Another match that looked promising, but also fell flat due to execution. The last time these two competitors faced off, it was a five-star classic. This time around, not so much. OBJ looked a bit off and it didn't help that Rocha was the one trying to carry the match. Rocha won the match wth a Jacknife Powerbomb pin. Marco Rocha will face the winner of Jason Reynolds and Ricky Vice.
1 out of 5 stars.
We cut to a graphic hyping up the main event between The Olympians' Jordan Angle and Devon Gatlin-Tyson and Iron-Willed (Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller).

Crowd: ONE FALL!!!
Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, the team of Jordan Angle and Devon Gatlin-Tyson.
Metallica's "Orion" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, representing Number One Enterprises, the team of Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller, Iron-Willed!
Main Event: The Olympians (Jordan Angle and Devon Gatlin-Tyson) vs. Iron-Willed (Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller)
While DGT may have been the focal point of this match, the rest of it was more of a slog to get through. As much as Jordan Angle and Klaus Muller loved to utilize their amateur wrestling acumen, the Indianapolis crowd wanted to see pro wrestling, rasslin' rasslin'. During the match, The Bushmasters (Shakir and Stokes) interfered in the match, attacking Angle, allowing Muller to place DGT in the Rings of Saturn to get the win for his team.
2 out of 5 stars.
After the match, The Bushmasters join Iron-Willed as they attack DGT and Jordan Angle. Ryan Phelps, Miguel Sandoval Jr., Chip Day, and Miles Orozco rushed down to the ring to help DGT and Angle. As DGT and Angle slid out of the ring to safety, Angle was attacked by the Soldiers of Misfortune (General Wade and Guerrilla God), leaving DGT at the mercy, or lack thereof, of "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. It was an overwhleming 7 on 4 beatdown that saw Number One Enterprises and The Bushmasters beatdown The Olympians as Octane faded to black.

2024.05.15 06:55 JustFuckMeUp_ medsurg nurses - what are phrases you say commonly

I got the chance to use my VERY rusty spanish with a patient today and I was kind of frustrated that I couldn't communicate with her better because of my awful grammavocab. 😑 So... I gotta do better in the future!
Can y'all think of things that you say to everyone/phrases or words that are particularly helpful? e.g., "I have your meds, these are for your heart"
(Bonus points if you can tell me good things to say in Tagalog/Yoruba/Punjabi!!!!!!! And Spanish, of course. I will love you forever.)
