pro-West party leader says they met PM Pashinyan and discussed a referendum to solidify Armenia's shift to EU

KHZMALYAN (European Party of Armenia): The referendum is our suggestion and demand. We presented it to Pashinyan and expect a response within a reasonable timeframe. We advised making a public statement soon. A referendum would also make Pashinyan's job easier by allowing the people's will to decide Armenia's direction.
REPORTER: How did Pashinyan respond?
KHZMALYAN: He suggested the meeting be held in a closed format so I can't reveal all details. We hope that our voice, our offer, our demand, was heard. If we do not receive a positive response, we will take measures by employing the same methods currently used by anti-European forces [the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian ex-regime]. We will take to the streets and demand a referendum for Eurointegration if necessary.
REPORTER: How long are you ready to wait before taking action?
KHZMALYAN: A few months. Georgia will hold parliamentary elections in October, and Moldova will hold a similar Eurointegration referendum - also in October. The U.S. will hold presidential elections in November which will be important for Armenia's future. Even if the worst scenario unfolds in all three countries, Armenia must stand firm and not take a step back. Armenia could become the leader in democracy in all of Eastern Europe if you consider the situation in Georgia, Hungary, and Slovakia [pro-Russia populist leader]. Armenia could receive an unprecedented level of assistance from Europe under those circumstances.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan say he plans to leave CSTO?
KHZMALYAN: We did not demand specific dates but we urged him to complete all these processes this year, preferably by November.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan agree?
KHZMALYAN: The participants of the meeting are under the impression that we were able to present convincing arguments but time will show what actions he takes. The government functions very poorly but nevertheless, they are doing something, they are taking steps.
REPORTER: On May 9, Bagrat Galstanyan gave Pashinyan 1 hour to resign but it's May 21 and he is still here. Why wasn't the opposition able to remove him?
KHZMALYAN: The 3 former presidents and their surrogate forces, backed by 30 years of power, were unable to bring forward a figurehead, a single ideology, that could win the hearts of the people. They used various political technologies, they switched between black and white robes, and they extended the 1 hour to 7 days, but none of that helped because the Armenian people hate them more than they hate Nikol Pashinyan.
REPORTER: You used to be a lot harsher on Pashinyan but something appears to have changed in your tone after your recent meeting with him. What is the reason?
KHZMALYAN: We were able to present our demands and the timelines to accomplish them. Unlike the archbishop and the former regimes surrounding him, we did not give "one hour" for Pashinyan to accept our demands; we did not make ultimatums. We believe the current government is carrying out and will carry out the will of the people to overcome the status of a Russian colony and join the ranks of free nations. We did and do see steps [taken by the government] towards this; we cannot ignore this. We saw the Strassbourg, but also Moscow. We saw the [April 5 meeting in] Brussels, but also [the recent meeting between FMs in] Almaty. We are told this is an attempt to "balance" and we understand where they are coming from, but our factions speak on behalf of over 60% of Armenians who view Russia's policies as deadly for Armenia. We expect concrete actions and we have formed a platform to continue this work; there will be petitions and other actions from us. We are ready to assist Pashinyan, who may be constrained due to ongoing negotiations, by being the public voice and saying the things he cannot say. We will continue to work, to pressure, to influence, to demand. Our meetings also continue abroad. We will press on until we reach our goal - the Eurointegration of Armenia. //
Several prominent Western-oriented political parties recently formed an alliance to promote Armenia's Eurointegration.

Q&A with ruling party MP Vahagn Alexanyan about the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian opposition

REPORTER: You continue to criticize the "holy movement"...
ALEXANYAN: The what now?
REPORTER: ... the "holy movement", by calling it a "pagan" movement. What is the ruling party's stance and do you discuss this internally?
ALEXANYAN: Of course we do, although I don't think Kocharyan's decision to name this movement "holy" is helping them. It's comical.
REPORTER: Do you have proof that Bagrat srbazan is [tied with Kocharyan]?
ALEXANYAN: Bagrat Galstanyan is surrounded by the entire political team of Robert Koharyan, he was a member of Kocharyan's 2022 protests and gave similar speeches he gives today, he received a praise from Russian propagandists, and he was named by a Russian propagandist Aram Gabrielyanov as a potential candidate for a new protest movement just a few months prior to these events, so it's beyond reasonable doubt that Bagrat Galstanyan is part of Kocharyan's team.
REPORTER: You were earlier accusing Galstanyan of being a Russian agent, and now Kocharyan's agent?
ALEXANYAN: Same thing.
REPORTER: The opposition gathered many thousands of supporters on May 9. What does the size of the crowd indicate?
ALEXANYAN: It was similar to Kocharyan's final rally before the 2021 elections. And?
REPORTER: The opposition created a video of "Pashinyan's lies" and broken promises. Will you respond?
ALEXANYAN: The clip itself is a lie and manipulation. For example, one of the supposed lies was Pashinyan's promise of an amnesty for overdue fines and penalties. You are a journalist, you tell me, was there an amnesty or not?
REPORTER: Pashinyan had also said that POWs could wait "just a few more months" and that he wouldn't "sacrifice Armenia's sovereignty" in exchange for bringing them back sooner. Why aren't they back?
ALEXANYAN: Dozens of POWs returned home in December, and efforts continue to bring back the rest. Literally 1-2 days before the POWs' return, the opposition claimed that the POWs were "forgotten" by the government. "Ոչ մի բան չեք անում:"
REPORTER: What about the Nagorno-Karabakh leadership?
ALEXANYAN: There are efforts to return them as well.
REPORTER: Why did the police form a wall to block entry to village Kirants [for nonresidents]?
ALEXANYAN: I think the NSS said they had to take action to prevent interference with the border work. From what I can tell, the protest leader himself went there yesterday and returned only 15 minutes later so there wasn't a big desire to stay there apparently.
REPORTER: They plan to hold a big rally on May 26 where they might nominate Bagrat srbazan as the PM's candidate to replace Pashinyan.
ALEXANYAN: Why not go straight for [alleged narco baron] Mihran Poghosyan [who publicly praised the protests]?
REPORTER: There appears to be a consensus around Bagrat srbazan after a meeting between several forces.
ALEXANYAN: Consensus minus one, where "minus one" is the people. Or to be more precise, "minus two", because the Constitution also prohibits Bagrat from serving as a prime minister. Congratulations on an initiative that's dead on arrival. It's absurd. They suggested replacing the Constitution to allow a dual citizen to serve as PM. Okay... To get Canadian citizenship you have to take an oath to serve the best interests of Canada. To allow dual citizens to serve as PM in Armenia we have to accept for the PM to have loyalty towards another state. The alternative is for the candidate [Bagrat] to admit that his word [oath to Canada] wasn't worth a dime. Երևի մատերը խաչ արած ա երդվել։
REPORTER: But don't you think you are manipulating because Galstanyan received Canadian citizenship just to be able to serve in the church in Canada? He didn't go there to live or conduct business.
ALEXANYAN: It doesn't matter why he went to Canada. He is a citizen of Canada and took an oath. Even religious leaders with dual citizenship cannot become prime ministers. I don't have an issue with him being a dual citizen, but it limits his office options. He still hasn't renounced his Canadian citizenship even after all these talks about a possible nomination.
REPORTER: Galstanyan said he is ready to renounce it as soon as there is a need for it.
ALEXANYAN: In other words, he seeks "guarantees" that he will be the candidate in order to renounce it?

opposition churchman Bagrat Galstanyan demands the Armenian government compensate the damage done to the church during USSR and "return" the properties "legally belonging" to the church

This was said as a response to the critics of the church leadership who accused the church of turning into a political party and suggested taxing the church like a business.
BAGRAT: We have 19th-century churches that were forcefully confiscated and turned into ruins. The properties of the Armenian church must be returned to the church. The area of Moscow Cinema belongs to the church, half of the Katoghike Church was demolished and belongs to the church, and part of the items in Matenadaran were taken away from the church. Instead of threatening us with taxes, they must think about how they plan to return our properties, fully renovated and ready for service.

Armenia's Constitutional Court has a vacant seat. Pro-Russian opposition criticizes Pashinyan's ruling party for favoring a "George Soros-linked" judge who worked for U.S. State Department.

A Serj-era judge is leaving the Constitutional Court after receiving a job offer elsewhere so one seat is vacant. It is the judiciary's turn to nominate a CC judge, so hundreds of judges recently held a meeting and voted for Judge Balayan as their candidate. Balayan's father was a CC judge during Kocharyan's tenure. He was accused in the Wikileaks report of having inappropriate deals with President Kocharyan. Pashinyan's ruling party did not vote to approve Balayan. This led to a second gathering of hundreds of judges where they voted to nominate Judge Khachaturyan as their candidate. The parliament summoned him for Q&A on Tuesday.
SPEAKER: We invite the representative of the judiciary to present their nominee for CC.
JUDICIARY REP: 267 judges voted. Judge Davit Khachaturyan, a member of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, won the majority votes.
2000-2005: [blah blah blah]
2003-2006: Legislative Assistance Project Manager at Southern Caucasus Anti-Drug (SCAD) Program, sponsored by European Union and implemented by United Nations Development Program
2006: Program Assistant at U.S. Embassy in Armenia, Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)
2007-2013: U.S. Embassy in Armenia, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Legal Specialist
2014: Academy of Justice of the Republic of Armenian-Russian, Vice-Rector and Lecturer
2015-2016: Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Program “Strengthening Health Care and Human Rights Protection in Prisons in Armenia”, Legal Expert
2016: EU project “Development and Strategic Studies”, Expert on Judiciary and Human Rights field reforms
2015-2017: EU project “ENP Progress Reports and Assessment Reports on Armenia´s Compliance with GSP+ obligations”. Expert on Rule of Law/Justice.
2013–2020: Law Faculty of Yerevan State University. Lecturer. Development and teaching of courses for the Master Program: “European Standards for the human rights protection in criminal proceedings”, and “Professional Skills of a Lawyer”
etc.
OPPOSITION MP: The ruling faction earlier chose not to confirm the appointment of Judge Davit Balayan; they obviously prefer Davit Khachaturyan. Can you explain why you didn't mention that Khachaturyan served on the board of directors and later as the president of the board at George Soros's Armenia-based Open Society Foundations? How will this record impact his work at CC?
JUDICIARY REP: I presented parts of his professional activities available on the court's public platforms. You can ask the candidate directly.
OPPOSITION MP: The Soros Foundation publicly listed him as a member so I don't understand why it's being hidden now. In your opinion, how will his work at the Soros Foundation affect his impartiality?
JUDICIARY REP: The majority of judges chose him and it's up to Parliament whether to confirm or reject.
RULING MP: Was the voting held in a closed session or can you see how each judge voted?
JUDICIARY REP: It's a closed format. My duty here is to present the candidate. [basically, leave me alone I'm just doing my job]
RULING MP: Why not make the court voting and internal discussions more transparent for the public to see so we will have fewer conspiracy theories on why one judge was preferred over the other?
JUDICIARY REP: I share the view that it needs to be as public as possible but the majority of judges voted to keep the session closed to the press.
RULING MP: Just because the discussions and the vote were behind closed doors that doesn't mean it was anti-democratic, but still, it's better to publicize the process. We hope to see a change in this approach.
JUDICIARY REP: The ballot casting will always be secret and I think that's the right approach in order to allow judges to express themselves without constraints, but I agree that the discussions and speeches should be public. Either way whatever we discuss behind closed doors always reaches the press so in practice there isn't really a major transparency issue there.
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: First, every part of my biography has always been public and part of public discussions. Second, I have always voted in favor of making internal discussions open to the press; it's the best way to avoid incorrect assumptions. Full speech here.
OPPOSITION MP: Congratulations. The ruling party intends to approve your candidacy just as they voted for you in the past for other positions. In all of those instances, you didn't mention your work at the Сорос Foundation. Now, a very interesting coincidence [drumroll... are you guys ready for this bombshell?], during the same time while you worked at Сорос foundation, in 2006-2013, you were also a U.S. Embassy employee [got 'em]. //
Nikol Pashinyan has resigned.
Tavush stretches all the way to Russia.
Bagrat srbazan becomes the Supreme Leader of Historical Soil & Water and the Generalissimos of Slow-Melting Candles... and of course removes the speed cameras from highways.
OPPOSITION MP (continues): With this biography, how do we know you are not an agent of foreign influence?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I was not an "employee" at the Soros Foundations. Other famous figures have served on the Board [mentions a famous doctor]. Everyone who was part of the Board had duties but it was not really an "employment". As for my simultaneous work with the U.S. Justice Department, there was no conflict with my membership or presidency at the Board because the latter was fully a public activity and we were only given a symbolic sum to compensate for our expenses; we are talking about less than $100/mo. I will let you be the judge regarding an agent of influence. There is a lot that's missing from my biography that was read here [lists some boring constitutional research work, etc.].
OPPOSITION MP: You keep being "promoted" by the ruling party without having the chance to finish your terms. The longest job you've ever held was at the Сорос Foundation - 8 years. The brother of the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, who is about to join the CC, cannot be impartial. Again, what guarantees can you present that you are not a [Western] agent?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: Your expectation for guarantees stems from the assumption that the [Open Society Foundations] were engaged in activities other than the ones they were actually engaged in. I won't present any "guarantees" because there is no "threat" to begin with. As I've said, that part of my biography has always been discussed publicly and the activities were public and covered by the press.
RULING MP: In your speech you spoke about the judiciary in the U.S. and brought examples. The U.S. doesn't have a Constitutional Court. Don't you think we should also merge the Constitutional and [Cassations Court] with the upcoming referendum to have one Supreme Court with corresponding chambers?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I support having one unified body like in the U.S., or clarifying the duties to prevent each body from interfering with the other. Lengthy answer.
OPPOSITION MP: A person [in Kirants] received permission [from USSR] to build a house and live in it. Then the [Armenian] government told him there was a mistake [after the clarification of borders]. Some 50 years after this incident, what would your verdict be in this case?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I understand the context. This issue is the task of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and we cannot interfere in each other's institutions. I assume there will be a peace agreement eventually that will be sent to the Constitutional Court for examination, therefore I will refrain from making prejudgments now in order to be allowed to take part in future processes.

2024.05.22 02:27 Typical-Pin1646 my analysis for FFIE so far.

[this does not constitute any investment advice, just purely my own opinion]
just like an on-going war, there will be days where it gets easier, and there will be days where it is the toughest. the toughest days of these battle was on 14 may 2024 to 17 may 2024.
notice how the short ratio kept increasing, and until 17 may, it was at the highest. that was also the day where the price went to a high of almost $4, then down to $1.
logically and technically speaking, if this war has to fail, it already would have on Friday after-market hours. Prices would have just wane off, leaving the late buyers high and dry, losing their money. And this whole episode will just go down into history quietly without anybody mentioning about it again because it is embarassing.
However, prices short up after-market hours. this tells me there are renewed interest in the stocks. whatever share that is being sold, could have been bought up by a new buyer. hopefully a wise one, because a new and wise buyer would have strong holding power.
The price attempted to sell off again on monday. But to no avail, as soon as it reach the low of $1.20, it got scooped up quickly. Again, this indicate buying sentiment at low prices still exist. Otherwise, the price would have crash through.
Right now, Tuesday, there is a strong support at the $1.20 - $1.25 range. After 4 days of selling by shorties, the Short Interest has increased from 95.xx% to 96.78%. That means a new increase. This would mean that the short squeeze, if it does materialise eventually, is getting nearer and easier. Because with increased short interest, it'll mean that there are less float. With less float, less capital is required to buy them all up and stash them into your war chest and hold. When finally there is no more float around, it is here where it starts cracking. Prices gets bidded up very very quickly due to the limited supply.
Imagine this, you went to the market and bought onions from every stall. now, you own all the onions and nobody else has it. since now u've all the onions, you can dictate the price you want to sell at, and watch the uncles aunties cry when they buy the onion from you at sky high price. T_T
Also, data do not lie. my data from my broker consistently shows that, at the end of each trading session the S and M trade size are showing net outflow consistently over the past few days. There is only 1 group, the XL trade size that is consistently showing net inflow. that is the group that is giving me the confidence to hold.
From technical pattern perspective, there is a strong support zone at $1.20 - $1.25 range. Selling truimphs for monday and tuesday, but has weaken. as you can see, the slope sliding down is less steep. This is accompanied by the data where short sale ratio decreasing, and short interest increasing. Also in the daily chart, we've formed a ascending flag, and we are reaching the tip-end of a triangular flag. On Wed or Thu, I would be expecting a sharp breakout on either side.

If, purely hypothetically, someone in Canada wanted to purchase a ghost mantis, how might they go about that? Do you know any sellers who you think would be willing to ship to or within Canada despite the perfectly reasonable laws in place prohibiting such a sale? (in an a parallel universe, obviously—I am not *interested** in being directed toward sellers who would do such a thing)* My DMs are open for purely fictional suggestions and discussion if you’re not comfortable commenting on the post.
Thank you for entertaining my completely fantastical and entirely pretend line of questioning.

2024.05.22 01:23 tomoka185 Rude Manager

I was working a 4.5 hour shift on a Saturday. I'm scheduled in Z1, and it's 2PM peak. This is the front of the store, so I expected pressure on presence and security in this zone. However, I am only one of the two BAs on the floor. The rest helping clients are managers. Other BAs on break. Etc.
A lot of clients are coming in, and some are asking for help that would require me to leave my zone. I am communicating on the walkie about the clients that need help out of my zone. I say it once, no response. I let one of the clients know that it will be a little bit as I have to get permission to leave the area. The client get it but seem a little awkward about having to wait when I'm free, just standing there. I ask on the headset again for some help, and no response. I look around, and I see that all of the managers are busy with clients. The other BA is also busy with a client.
So, in my logic, I felt it was best for me to just leave my zone for a brief moment to get these clients helped ASAP. The 1st client that needed help out of my zone just wanted to know where a brand was. I guided her to it half way then pointed to the area. They said thank you, I went back. More clients come in and ask for online orders. Our online order station is located in the very BACK of the store, so it's hard to see and get to. I guided this client halfway to the online station, then headed back. I informed on the headset that this client needed to have their bag scanned out ASAP. No response.
I'm stressed, so I just take it upon myself to help as many clients as I can during this chaotic peak hour. Another client approaches me in this zone, this time asking about a primer, so I took it upon myself just to keep her in the zone and chat to her about my advice and recommendations. I built a good relationship with her, so I wanted to show her my favorite SPF Primer, the supergoop blurring primer. It's in the back of the store however, so I asked on the walkie if someone could grab me the supergoop primer for my client. No response. Frustrated, I told my client I would be right back and informed her to stay in my zone. I speed walked to grab the primer and went back. At this point I'm like a chicken without a head, pure chaos. Every other worker is just ignoring me, talking about other issues on the headset. No one is coordinated.
One of my newer managers observed this and then made a comment about me staying in my zone on the walkie. I told him that I communicated earlier about leaving my zone but no one responded (My walkie WAS working), so I took it upon myself to do it. He then pulled me to the side, WHILE we're still busy with clients, to lecture me.
He told me that I MUST stay in my zone, no matter what. He was talking to me like I was a kid, in the way his tone was. I used to like this manager too, so I was very surprised he was talking to me that way. He then threatened me by telling me that he would send me home for the rest of my shift if I leave my zone one more time... I don't understand his logic? If we're this busy, why is there only 2 BAs on the sales floor? Why would you send me home? I felt very disrespected while he was lecturing, so I cut him off in the middle of it, and EMPHASIZED that I had no choice, and it was because I did not have any other backup. He still didn't care. He told me not to interrupt him and let him finish his point (which I did regret, but still).
What should I do about this? Things are now awkward between him and I at work, and I don't feel comfortable around him anymore. My overall sense of ability at Sephora feels constantly devalued and overlooked for the years that I have worked here.
TDLR; Busy hour required me to leave zone 1 (front of store) a few times since many clients needed assistance out of zone 1. Every other employee was busy with clients, including the managers, so I took it upon myself to help the clients that just came in. Lots of Multi-clienting. My newer manager did not like me leaving my zone that much so he lectured me, which resulted in a threat of dismissal.

2024.05.21 23:57 EtTuBrotus What advice would you give to someone looking for a career change, but unsure of what to do?

I (27m, UK) have been working in the marketing team of a Higher Education Institution for the last 2.5 years. I’m on ok money, at £32k a year.
The Uni I work for is struggling a bit financially and are offering a generous Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme in efforts to cut costs. I’ve applied for this because it’s a lot of money and I’m getting restless in my role, so it could offer me the chance for a change. I will learn the outcome in three weeks or so. If I get it, I’ll leave at the end of August. If I don’t, my job is unaffected (for now). Whether I get it or not, the common feeling is that after the MARs ends, there’ll be a redundancy period (even though senior management are downplaying this), and I think with my application and job role I’d be fairly high up the list for redundancy.
So this is where I’m at. My role is mostly project management, rather than marketing. Managing stakeholders, setting timelines, liaising with suppliers, etc
I’ve decided i’d like to do something else but I’m not sure what. I don’t think I want to stay in project management. I like working with people, so account management could be cool but I really, really don’t want to work in sales. I passed an assessment day at this recruitment company the other day and was due to have an interview for a SDR role today but cancelled it because the thought of it made me feel sick. It was mostly going to be “prospecting” (aka cold calling) and I just couldn’t force myself to be enthusiastic about it. I’d like the relationship managing aspect of account management but having to hit sales targets and such kind of puts me off.
I’m also considering trying my hand at creative marketing. I’ve recently started learning photoshop to upskill myself and I enjoy the creative concept pieces I’m working on but I know I don’t have any practical experience in the field and my skills aren’t yet good enough to make me competitive against other applicants.
I wish I was one of those people that knew what they wanted to do and how to get there, but I’m not. So, any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.21 23:45 WhatCanIMakeToday ComputerShare Confirms DSPP Details (Both in DTC and Beneficially Owned)

ComputerShare Confirms DSPP Details (Both in DTC and Beneficially Owned)
ComputerShare has generously updated their FAQ on holding registered shares and Paul Conn has generously answered some questions on video about DRS and DSPP shares. [1]

Chain Of Custody

A chain of custody [Wikipedia] represents the documentation of ownership and/or control as an item may pass through various parties. Applied here to registered shares, a chain of custody can detail who owns a share and through whom, if applicable. As is generally well known on this subreddit, “street name” shares all have a chain of custody from Cede & Co through DTC to broker to a “street name” shareholder as the ultimate beneficial owner. Based on ComputerShare’s answer outlining the chain of custody and ownership for Pure DRS and DSPP shares, we can identify 3 separate categories of ownership with 3 different chains of custody as shown and described here with color coding:
Illustrating Chain Of Custody For DRS & DSPP Shares per ComputerShare
1. DRS or Pure DRS shares (Purple) have no “chain of custody” as “investors hold the shares in their own name” with “no intermediary”. This is as clean and clear as you can get for ownership of property where investors have both title and possession (see below for more details on these terms).
2. DSPP Shares @ ComputerShare (Light Purple) For DSPP shares, there can be 2 different chains of custody for shares which I’ll denote as “DSPP @ CS” or “DSPP @ DTC”. The “DSPP @ CS” shares comprise 80%-90% of Plan shares which are “held on the register in the main class”. The chain of custody for this “DSPP @ CS” group of shares is “CPU Nominee” to Investor where CPU is shorthand for ComputerShare as their ticker symbol is CPU [Wikipedia]. ComputerShare’s nominee is Dingo & Co. For this group of 80-90% of DSPP shares, ComputerShare’s ledger identifies ComputerShare’s nominee. As ComputerShare (or their nominee) are the only intermediary, title and possession of these shares is clean and clear.
3. DSPP Shares @ DTC (Light Pink) For DSPP shares held via ComputerShare’s broker at DTC (denoted as “DSPP @ DTC”), the chain of custody is Cede & Co to ComputerShare’s broker to ComputerShare to Investor. For this group of 10-20% of DSPP shares, ComputerShare’s ledger identifies Cede & Co (who holds shares for the DTC which is a subsidiary of the DTCC).

DSPP Shares @ DTC ARE Beneficially Owned By Investors

We can build upon that Overview diagram with more detailed information from ComputerShare who directly answers questions about DSPP shares held at DTC for Operational Efficiency and which, if any, shares may be beneficially owned.
For the DSPP @ DTC shares, “Computershare holds the title for the benefit of the underlying plan participants” where shares are held with ComputerShare’s broker who has an account at the “DTC [who] holds shares on the register through Cede & Co”. (Red)
ComputerShare also says a “portion of shares will be beneficially owned by the investors” referring to “any portion of the Plan shares in a brokerage account through DTC”, which corresponds to the DSPP@DTC category. (No other chain of custody meets that description and there are only two possibilities for Plan shares.) Thus, the DSPP@DTC shares are beneficially owned by investors. (From the previously available FAQ text, we also know that “[t]hese particular shares are maintained by [ComputerShare’s] broker (for the benefit of Computershare, and in turn, for the benefit of plan participants” so the line from Broker to ComputerShare is also labeled FBO designating “for the benefit of” for beneficial ownership [Wikipedia].
Detailed Illustration Of Chain Of Custody for DRS & DSPP Shares per ComputerShare
To be abundantly clear regarding the “DSPP shares held at the DTC for Operational Efficiency” (denoted DSPP@DTC), “On the ledger, the title for this specific portion of the shares falls within the Cede & Co holding”.

TADR: ComputerShare Has Confirmed

  • Approximately 10-20% of DSPP Shares can be held at the DTC (“DSPP@DTC”) for Operational Efficiency.
  • DSPP@DTC shares are beneficially owned by investors.
  • Title on the ledger for DSPP@DTC shares is to Cede & Co who holds shares for DTC.

Title & Possession

Title identifies who has rights to ownership and possession of property.
https://preview.redd.it/6ja7ax0piu1d1.png?width=1732&format=png&auto=webp&s=d951547572ffa97cebdc72e025596c96961a41cd
Title is distinct from possession)” where “possession and title may each be transferred independently of the other.” [Wikipedia: Title (property))]
The concept of separating title from possession for property (including securities) may not be well known or familiar to everyone and, I suspect, was a huge fundamental source of confusion. Title basically identifies who owns property while possession is who holds property. Here are a couple (hopefully) relatable examples to illustrate this concept to help clear up confusion:
Example 1: Your Wife’s Boyfriend Driving Your Car
Imagine your wife and her boyfriend are speeding down Lover’s Lane when they’re pulled over by a cop. The cop will ask for license and registration because those two documents identify who is in possession of the car (i.e. your wife’s boyfriend as the driver) and who is the registered owner with title to the car (i.e., you), respectively.
Applying this to stocks, we can ask the “license & registration” question of every party in possession of GameStop stock to determine who has title and/or possession. Apes have title and possession of pure DRS shares. But for DSPP@DTC shares, title for shares begin at Cede & Co passing down to ComputerShare; while apes only have possession of beneficial rights to shares. (See, e.g., “On the ledger, the title for this specific portion of the shares falls within the Cede & Co holding”, “Computershare holds the title for the benefit of the underlying plan participants”, and “that portion of shares will be beneficially owned by the investors”. [Updated FAQ])
Example 2: Your Home
Imagine you are renting your home. As a renter, you probably tell people the place is “yours” because you have possession by renting even though your landlord is the owner with title to “your” home. This is an example where we use the term “your” to refer to having possession without title.
At the same time, if someone were to ask your landlord if the place you rent is theirs, your landlord would also say yes.
Me to Your Landlord: Is that your place where the ape lives?
Landlord: Yep! I got some really regarded apes renting from me.
In this case, the same term “your” refers to having title without possession.
Which means that two different parties, you and your landlord, can simultaneously claim ownership of your home depending solely on having either title or possession; without needing both.
Applying this to the various Chains of Custody shown above for GameStop, we can see how both Cede & Co and ComputerShare have title to DSPP@DTC shares (see, e.g., “On the ledger, the title for this specific portion of the shares falls within the Cede & Co holding” and “Computershare holds the title for the benefit of the underlying plan participants”). And for DSPP@CS shares, we can see how both Dingo and apes hold shares (i.e., possession; see, e.g., “Dingo holds assets but does not own any of them” and “all plan holders are treated as registered holders of the company”) with ownership by apes (see, e.g., “As a nominee, Dingo & Co has no interest in and no rights to the property it holds in its name on behalf of Computershare” and “While Dingo & Co holds plan shares on the registers of Computershare’s issuer clients, the owners are treated as the registered owners of the plan shares”). [Updated FAQ]

DSPP in TWO PARTS

Based on the above, we can visualize the aggregate DSPP “Plan” shares as divided into two parts: (a) 80-90% held by ComputerShare through their nominee, Dingo, and (b) 10-20% held in DTC; with the corresponding chain of custody.
DSPP Holdings Are Split In Two Portions

BUT BUT BUT… SEC email!

A previous post summarized an email response from the SEC as “PLAN SHARES ARE OUT OF DTC” [SuperStonk]. Unfortunately, that was a mis-reading of the SEC email with a misleading post title. We can illustrate the SEC response with color coding as shown below (and with comparison to ComputerShare's disclosure):
Slightly different words, but similar overall description
The SEC clearly states that “the overall count of issuer plan shares includes” (orange) two parts (a) investor shares held at the transfer agent (light purple) and (b) non-investor shares (light pink); thus we can divide up a box representing issuer plan shares (orange) into two parts labeled investor shares (light purple) and non-investor shares (light pink). The investor shares portion is described by the email with two statements: “The investor’s shares are not held at DTC” and “investor shares held at the transfer agent”. We can annotate the investor shares portion with both of those statements. The non-investor shares portion is described by a single statement: “The non-investor shares are held by the transfer agent’s broker at DTC in order to facilitate settlement for plan sales that occur” which can be similarly annotated for the non-investor shares portion (light pink).
Visualizing statements in the SEC email allows comparing the SEC’s description and ComputerShare’s description, where we see striking similarities for the description of Plan shares.
  • Both descriptions split Plan shares into two (and only two) parts.
  • Part 1 (light purple) having shares held by the transfer agent (ComputerShare); thus not at DTC.
  • Part 2 (light pink) having shares held at DTC (by the transfer agent's broker).
Part 1, the shares held by the transfer agent, is described by the SEC as “investor shares”. Investors (e.g., 🦧) have title to these shares and possession of them through ComputerShare and their nominee.
Part 2, the shares held at DTC, is described by the SEC as “non-investor shares” (where the prefix non- literally means “not” so literally "not investor shares"). Part 2 of the Plan shares is quite clearly described by ComputerShare and the SEC as held at DTC by ComputerShare’s broker; corroborated by the Chain of Custody above with the ledger identifying Cede & Co as holding these shares for DTC who holds shares for ComputerShare’s broker where Plan Participants are beneficial owners of these shares (per ComputerShare, above).
The main difference between the two descriptions is that ComputerShare says they typically have 10-20% of Plan shares in DTC, which yields a split between 80-20 or 90-10, whereas the SEC provides no information on the proportion of the two portions (thus illustrated simply as 50/50).
Hopefully, this settles the long-running debate once and for all.

One last thing… BE NICE

Apes are not exactly making friends with Wall St and the securities industry; and most are not the kind of friends we would want anyway. ComputerShare works as a transfer agent for issuers like GameStop so ComputerShare is pretty much the closest thing we have to a friend in industry. Paul Conn pretty clearly doesn’t like how some are accusing them of wrongdoing.
Transfer Agents, like ComputerShare, are in a fairly heavily regulated industry. There’s been no indication ComputerShare is breaking any regulations. If there’s a failure, check for gaps in the regulations first. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
And, instead of blaming transfer agents, the SEC has already directed responsibility to the DTCC and NSCC in the SEC GameStop Report. [SuperStonk DD see section “So… who’s bag holding?”] Not the transfer agent.
Paul Conn and ComputerShare have provided time and resources engaging with and answering questions from the community. Be nice and don’t fling brown semi-solids until you’re 110% sure it’s deserved. (We must be better than Wall St.)
To Paul Conn & ComputerShare, thank you for having answered our community questions. We appreciate the clarity provided especially given the position you’re in. s/WhatCanIMakeToday/

2024.05.21 23:34 Mysterious-Egg2562 Racquet handle length

I bought a new Babolat Pure Aero today to replace my old aero pro drive that I cracked while hitting a bad slice (still devastated by that btw).
I noticed that the handle of the new racquet is shorter than the handles of both of my old aero pro drives. This spec was not mentioned in the sales process, and I'm a little upset because I paid a lot for this thing and it's not what I was expecting.
Is this something I should have asked about? Have Babolat racquets gotten shorter? I'm planning on contacting the club from which I bought the thing, but will they call me a goofball for making a mistake in the tennis shop similar to my many mistakes on the court? Will I ever truly be loved?
Edit: my old one, unbeknownst to me, was a plus, which has a longer handle. The more you know

2024.05.21 23:03 A_Cryptic_Metaphor Vehicle aux outlet to power sump pump via inverter?

This is less a home electrical question and more a vehicle electrical question, so I'm sorry if it doesn't quite apply to this sub, but I will ask anyway.
I know you can hook up power inverters to the aux power outlet in a vehicle (AKA the cigarette lighter) which can provide a certain amount of AC power to small electronics and whatnot.
Would it be possible to use one to power a sump pump via extension cord?
I see power inverters for sale that advertise a RANGE of wattages up to, say, 3000W. (here's one example: https://www.walmart.com/ip/JLLOM-3000W-4000W-Car-Power-Inverter-DC-12V-To-AC-110V-Pure-Sine-Wave-Solar-Converter-LCD/1010148549?athbdg=L1400 I know that's peak power, and continuous is more modest)
My Colorado's front aux Power outlet is on a 50 amp fuse, so a generous battery voltage of 12.6 would mean my maximum wattage is 630.
My Wayne sump pump is a 4 amp pump, running on household 120v (the sticker lists it at 115, but I'll use 120 for the calculation) so that comes out to 480 watts.
So...would an inverter running off the vehicle's aux power outlet be able to supply enough power to the sump pump in case of power failure? Is the inverter actaully going to provide the wattage advertised?
This isn't "the plan" but I'm just curious as we've been getting constant severe weather and storms and I worry the power might go out for a while, which has happened on occasion. And yes, I know generators are a thing too, I'm just inquiring about this possible angle. Athlough, another power failure and I might just buy one anyway.

2024.05.21 22:18 Brendansmomlikescash Large org to small org, right choice for my career?

At a career crossroads.
I've been an SDR at Company A for a year and 3 months. They were small when I joined, (I even had equity) but they got acquired by a larger firm about 8 months ago. Due to regulatory stuff the acquisition fully went through 2 months ago, and we've been getting integrated to all the systems this month. I was supposed to be beginning the transition to AE by now, but because of the acquisition and structure changes, I'm now not sure when that will happen. Closest to a guarantee I have is getting some small accounts to manage in July/August, and see how that goes. Best case I'm an AE by Q1 2025, and with a sales cycle of 6 months to a year, it'd be a while before I see any commission checks. My boss would have to really fight for me to get promoted, since they want all AEs to have 3-5 years of experience. A new AE also started this week.
I was getting frustrated over the last few weeks/months with how things were going, so I started putting feelers out. I'm in talks with these guys, call them Company B, I used to work with at my last job. It'd be a title promotion, more pay, fully remote, and I'd be closing deals, with virtually no cold calling. They're much smaller than Company A, though, about a 1/3 of the revenue that A was pre acquisition. Both are SaaS, but vastly different products for different needs.
Do I stay with the larger, global Company A for the experience and the chance of closing 6 and 7 figure deals in the next 18 months to 2 years, or leave for Company B to get that promotion and more pay, but with a possibly lower ceiling?
How valuable is pure experience versus who you work for, what company trained you, and who you know? I so badly want to be done with cold calling that I'm worried I might be falling into a grass is greener fallacy.

2024.05.21 22:15 luxfactusest What to put on my Resume as a 36 year old with no relevant work experience?

TLDR

I graduated in Computer Science in 2011, but instead of pursuing a career in tech I spent the next 7 years building and running a small travel agency with my brother. By 2018, I got burnt out, sold my shares, and with my savings decided to travel.
So with my savings, the privileged Westerner that I am, I relocated to Asia and Latin America where my Euro would go far, and went all-in on indiehacking.
My goal was essentially to build my own apps and make a living from that.
I was confident that within 2 years I'd be making a good living from this.
Well, 2 years pass. Still no money. Savings drying up. Picked up some freelance work on the side to pay the bills while continuing to indiehack..
2 years became 3, then 4, then 5... and now here I am 6 years later and I'm making less than $1k a month coding 50-60 hours a week.
Talk about sunk-cost fallacy...
The miserable money I am making is purely from my freelance work (which for the most part I hate... WordPress, or some frontend stuff, nothing backend heavy which is my real expertise).
So I've come to realise I suck at sales. I suck at marketing. And really all I want to do so is work on interesting technical problems.
And at the ripe age of 36, I can now understand why people get day jobs lol
And now to get to my question: How do I go about getting my first tech job?
I have 7+ years amateur experience (PHP, Python and JavaScript) But 0 years professional. So I understand I would need to start from the bottom as a Junior Developer.
I haven't applied for a job since I was 19. No idea how to go about writing a resume for someone in my circumstances.

Portfolio

I have a relatively large portfolio of personal projects (mostly apps and SaaS)
In terms of "real projects", my client work is either:

Qualifications

GitHub

Technologies

Laravel, Vue.js, SQL, Nginx, Docker, Ubuntu, Linux, git, Tailwind, JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, Filament, Statamic, Alpine, Livewire, Nuxt, WordPress, Python, Django
Furthermore, I'm an EU national and open to relocating to a new country for work.
My biggest dilemma, is having no idea what to put in my resume since I have zero relevant work experience.
Should I just be upfront and say I have no professional work experience?
My gut feeling is that most employers aren't keen on hiring someone with my track record (i.e. being self-employed and freelance... ok fine... unemployed).
Furthermore, they might be concerned that I plan to open my own business in the future and go in competition with them. It's a reasonable concern.
So what to put on my resume as a 36 year old aspiring software/web developer with no relevant work experience?
No need to sugar-coat your answers. Be as blunt and direct as you want. I appreciate all advise.

2024.05.21 22:08 Struggle-Select Council flats being built opposite the road from house we are purchasing

Thank you to whoever reads this as we are really stuck!
TL;DR: House we are looking to buy (£650k offer, with bank valuation of £630k) is going to have block of council flats (15 apartments) and 3 town houses built across the road. Will this affect resale price in the future? Or any thoughts and advice about it at all are welcome! Thank you ☺️
Found an absolutely beautiful property that we fell in love with. Asking price was £650k and we offered £650k, and EA made it sound like there was plenty of interest and 3 other offers (1 higher - but apparently still went with us as the EA fought for us as we are first time buyers 🤨).
So our offer was accepted, and the bank did their independent valuation - was £630k, we tried to negotiate but the EA said the sellers were set on that and were not budging as they know what the house is worth. But we thought it’s okay £20k over is a lot, but the property is beautiful, so let’s just go with it.
Opposite the property on the same road there is an old church that has not been in use for years, and I’ve just researched about it and it has come to light that it has planning permission to be converted into 18 new homes (by the council - 15 apartments and 3 townhouses). The 3 townhouses are going to be exactly opposite the property we are purchasing and the 15 apartments will be in a 4 storey block of flats. From the wording below we are assuming these mean council flats? (For private rental by the council / joint affordable housing strategy) will this be a bad purchase and any experience living close by to council flats?
Directly from the planning permission report:
‘The proposal at Farm Road Church consists of 18 new homes - 15 apartments, and 3 houses. The apartments are for private rental, and the houses are for market sale. This site is being brought forward in conjunction with three other development sites in Merton (Elm Nursery [19/P4047], Raleigh Gardens [19/P4048], and Development Site at Madeira Road [19/P4050]) by Merantun Developments Ltd, which have a joint affordable housing strategy.’
