For reasons unknown, I got into books about time travel before this show, probably about 2-3 years ago. And as I am a really fast reader, I've been able to get through quite a few! So, I'll give some recommendations for those of you in TWH withdrawal and looking for something kinda similar to read. Here are some of my favorites:
YA/kids' books, for those who enjoy the genre or want to suggest reading materials to kids who enjoy the show:

Tourist skiers on Tromsdalstinden laughs at expert trying to warn them of lethal danger
The mountain ends at the stone to the right on the photo. The tourists are standing on snow hanging mid air. If the snow breaks, they fall hundreds of meters to their deaths.
Too long article to translate. But please understand what a hengeskavl is before you go mountain skiing.
These idiots even laughed at the experienced skier warning them.

Campervan Solar System Help!
Hey everyone, Im looking for some help troubleshooting my solar system. Bought a camper van 5 months ago, so did not build the system myself, and I have only a fairly basic understanding of solar systems so I apologize if I am missing something obvious.
Recently, our system has been not holding a charge and is not able to run even basic appliances or charge our phones overnight. We're trying to figure out if the batteries need to be replaced or if there is a different problem.
The System includes 4 x 140AH AGM batteries, 360W solar panels, Victron Monitor, CTEK battery charger, EPEVER solar controller, and 2 inverters that can be turned on separately.
There are a bunch of different appliances including a water pump, water heater, fridge, LED lights, popup fan. Some of these seem to be on a system separate from the inverters - the water pump, fan, water heater are all on separate switches that are operational even if the inverters are off. I assume this is because these devices to not require AC power.
https://preview.redd.it/zbhypaf4hlwc1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b834f3a21c161dd685e153fcaa8059488c57b95
However, almost all of the appliances are turned off all the time - we have only been using the fan overnight, occasionally lights, and charging phones. Even so, we are FREQUENTLY getting low battery alarms from either the monitor or the inverters. 2 days ago this happened only 2 hours after we left a powered campsite overnight. Admittedly, we probably have not been keeping the batteries well charged, as our parking spot is fairly shaded and it has not been plugged in while sitting for days at a time.
To make matter slightly more confusing, there is a switch that appears to be a Kraus and Naimer "control and Load Switch", labeled "Main", "Off", and "INV" (The labels are covered in the photo). I have no idea what this does. We were told to leave it on INV, and then switch to MAIN when plugged in, however all the appliances seem to work no matter what setting it's on.
https://preview.redd.it/jr7zyeb3flwc1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6356ca43e247aa4092bffb0de542a65f582b1bcf
In an attempt to test the system and the batteries, I ran a few tests today after charging the system overnight at home. The solar was still connected, so during the days the battery would have been receiving some charge, as you can see by the positive amps / watts it was registering.
https://preview.redd.it/i5svizizglwc1.png?width=1490&format=png&auto=webp&s=7405f15f0e0f51964c4b869b8d415b114cee2794
So, does anyone have any insight? The Voltage drops significantly just switching the switch to "INV" - does this make sense? It also drops INCREDIBLY fast once the inverters are on, even when there is nothing on the system drawing power. The voltage would have continued to drop even lower than the test if they were left on longer. Does this indicate there is something wrong with the inverters that they are drawing too much power, or is that a symptom of batteries that are at the end of their lives?
Thanks in advance, and Im happy to run more tests if there is something that would have been helpful.

2024.04.10 16:22 AlisonMarieGuffey Considering not to invite my parents to my wedding

Am I overreacting? I (25F) am getting married at the end of this year. I’m the last of my family to get married, and this has been something I’ve dreamt of since I was little.
My parents (D-68) (M-64) have lived in a big house with 5 acres for about 15 years now. The back yard is breathtaking, and when we first moved to that house I’ve always said I wanted to get married there.
But the older and older I get- the more I realize “maybe I don’t want to get married there.” They don’t have the luxurious bathrooms or bedrooms for the get read photos. They don’t have a patio or any area for seating, and the back of their house isn’t the aesthetic I’m wanting. So I have started to think of other options.
I want vineyard, intimate, luxury.
This year my parents have commented on selling their house. It makes me sad a little, but I’m so in love with my new Airbnb idea that I really am not heart broken over it.
My new wedding idea is renting a beautiful Airbnb- where the bridal party and family can stay in. I found one under budget and located on a private vineyard. It’s 4 days and 3 nights- under 3,000 dollars and can sleep 20 people. Also comes with a pool, hot tub, work out area, yard games, vineyard, etc.
When I explained this idea to my dad and siblings- they all laughed at me. My dad rolled his eyes and said “how are you going to pay for that…” my siblings said “that’s not going to happen”. And when I tried to explain the plan to them all my dad stormed off from the table and said “I don’t want to talk about this anymore.”
Previously- I’ve had discussions about my wedding dress too. My parents are more modest and constantly think “how much is that going to cost…” “Alison that dress shoes too much skin…” my mom even recommended going to Goodwill to find a dress.
With the Venue having limited beds- and I’m wanting more of an intimate wedding anyways, I don’t even know how to bring up the fact that half the extended family will not be invited. And the guest list will be 30 people max.
I know once we even start talking about a guest list my mom is going to require every relative under the sun to be invited….
I feel like the more and more I speak about the wedding and details- the more and more they seem to either not want to talk about it- or control where and what I do for my big day.
Am I over reacting with the thought of lowering their status at my wedding to just “guest”/ or should I even invite them at all?

2024.04.08 04:12 Discovering_A THEORY: Game Over, Charles doesn't make sense because it's actually FULL of half-truths

Never trust a story that's being told by a manipulator.
Let's dissect the big finale of season 6A together and try to make sense of any inconsistencies (except the one where Toby said his mom died a year ago last week on Halloween 2008 because that's impossible given Charlotte's age).
If we were to assume that Charlotte is this evil, fictional, super rich mastermind who can make highly futuristic compounds and even buy herself a holo table in the year 2012.... let's use some suspension of disbelief for that and then try to make sense of everything else she said (picking apart the LIES with what we learn to be the TRUTH by the end of season 7).
Charlotte managed to buy out Radley Sanitarium for herself with her immense wealth (some of which is probably the $50,000 that Jason gave to the "A" Team in exchange for Ali's remains). She set up the cameras in there since it was no longer open for entry, and then on Rosewood High's prom night of 2012, she abducted Jason and Mr. DiLaurentis by injecting them with her paralysis drug (maybe Vecuronium) and then proceeded to go to prom and unmask herself in front of Ali. She got Ali out cold somehow (maybe with chloroform or whatever, the same thing that was probably used on Emily in Ravenswood) and got her into her old Radley room. While also dragging the DiLaurentis family out in front for her to see.
The PLLs (and Sara) get to the Carissimi Group headquarters and find Charlotte's lair. Charlotte launches into her explanation after the PLLs turn on the holo table... and right away, we get a glimpse into how selfish she is. Ali says she risked everything to help Charlotte, and Charlotte is completely ungrateful about the passport and plane ticket that Ali gave to her. Out of context, it doesn't sound like much, but that was Ali's ticket to freedom that she surrendered to Charlotte... and Charlotte does not care. Remember this as we factor in the rest of Charlotte's story... how Alison had NOTHING to do with the suffering Charlotte endured and how Charlotte tries to sound like the victim the whole way through. Moving on, we see her flash back to her tea party at home when she was a little under 6 and Jason was a little under 6 too (Charlotte was revealed in season 7A to be nearly Jason's age). Ali was 11 months old (according to Mr. DiLaurentis). The house they're in is NOT the DiLaurentis house, and we can especially tell from their random neighbor woman who we never see again. This all appears true so far, because it matches what Peter Hastings said about the DiLaurentises moving to Atlanta, Georgia once Jessica was pregnant with Jason. Jessica and Kenneth neglect Charlotte tapping on the window and then Charlotte takes Ali into the tub to try and make her feel better. So far, this matches Mr. D's story... They moved back to Rosewood right after that because Jessica was able to oversee Radley enough with her position as a board member, and would be able to keep a close eye on Charlotte. Moving right next door to Peter Hastings was a fringe benefit for Jessica, unbeknownst to Mr. D. It also seems like Charlotte was being truthful about Mr. D. trying to find excuses to get rid of her because he wouldn't accept that she was transgender. Charlotte spent the next 7 years in Radley almost completely alone. Probably true, and that is very sad... However, she left out that she did have outings every now and then... such as Charlotte's 11th birthday party that even Ali remembered. But moving right along, Charlotte is about 12 years old now after those 7 years passed. She received the yellow dress for Christmas when Ali was 6 and had since befriended Bethany Young.
But when we see her modeling the dress for Bethany, it is NOT the same yellow dress she just mentioned... This begs the question WHEN did this scene on the roof actually take place? Charlotte reveals that Bethany then pushed Marion Cavanaugh off the roof and that Wilden was paid to make the death look like a suicide. But Wilden is only a few years older than Charlotte, so that wouldn't be possible... Then she talks about being diagnosed with Bethany's disorder and being subjected to tranquilizers for the next couple of years. THIS is when Alison actually tells her she feels sorry for her... and the PLLs are outraged to hear it. This is a very interesting moment, because it looks borderline manipulative on Charlotte's part... I think that in order for this to make sense, Charlotte must have actually been SIXTEEN when she was on the roof with Bethany, and Bethany would've actually been 12 at the time, NOT 8 years old. It sure feels a lot more tragic to say the 12-year-old was given tranquilizer shots for years over the framing, instead of saying that a 16-year-old was given tranquilizer shots for a few months over the framing. Ali was 6 when Charlotte was 12, and Bethany is 2 years older than Ali... We're supposed to believe Bethany was 8 years old when she pushed grown-ass Marion off the roof? I don't think so. I fully believe that this is Charlotte's first use of dishonesty in her story to make herself look better, because anybody who can refute that claim (Wilden, Bethany, Jessica) are all DEAD. AND this is not the first time Charlotte told a flat-out lie that could only be refuted by someone who wasn't around to tell their side of the story... She did the same thing when she told Emily that she went to talk to Ali that Labor Day night about the NAT videos. And consider this: Wilden would have been 18 years old when Charlotte was 16, the same age that Toby started his police duties at the warped Rosewood PD. If Wilden was a patrolman at this age and then got promoted to detective, he could've dropped out of school and become a full-time detective without there being any timeline inconsistencies. Moreover, do we really think Jessica would've waited 4 years until she could cover up this accusation about Charlotte? It makes a lot more sense for her to have staged those donation forms and declared "Charles" dead right away by suicide so that the accusation didn't gain any traction and was just swept under the rug by Radley. It all makes perfect sense... IF we believe that Charlotte told a bald-faced lie about her being 12 when Marion was pushed.
I know that was a lot, but let's keep going. Charlotte then says the doctors felt bad about almost killing her so they let her out for Charles' funeral, which doesn't even make a lick of sense, so you know she's either lying or being coy about that sentence. "Charles" received the symbolic grave at Aunt Carol's, and Charlotte transitioned over the period of a couple years (which is feasible, if she was given the best treatments Jessica's money could buy). Now Charlotte is about 18 years old... So is Jason. She attends UPenn university for a little while and quickly grew bored with not learning anything new there, so she called in an anonymous bomb threat to get classes canceled so that she could take a trip to Rosewood High to see Jason. Jason recognizes her from his past but mistakes it for love at first sight, and Charlotte takes advantage... she introduces herself as CeCe Drake. "CC" for Charles/Charlotte, and "Drake" because Charlotte conveniently left out of her story that, during her time in Radley, she went exploring and eventually found the Radley file on her birth mother Mary Drake. That's even more deceit in her story... Anyway, CeCe walks in like Barbie and snaps a photo for the yearbook. Then she and Jason hit it off, but Charlotte specifically did it so that she could see her brother Jason as much as possible. It wasn't until they left for Cape May that summer that Jessica learned Jason's girlfriend CeCe was actually Charlotte. Charlotte was then rightfully pissed to learn that Jessica basically chose her husband over Charlotte by making him think that was the end of his "troubled" child.
They go to Cape May, where Charlotte and Ali meet Wilden, and by the time the summer draws to a close, Bethany found out about the affair between her dad and Charlotte's mom. She stole Charlotte's clothes (even throwing on the bracelet for some reason) and snuck out of Radley to attack Jessica that night. Charlotte chased after her. It was established that Jessica picked up a matching set of clothes for Charlotte whenever she got something for Ali to wear, so when we see that the outfit was a gift to Alison from her mom that night before Ali sees Mona's writing on her mirror, it became clear that Charlotte got the same outfit that night too. This all makes sense and seems to be the truth. Charlotte accidentally throws the rock at Ali, thinking it was Bethany. Disturbingly, Jessica proceeds to just bury Alison, outright choosing Charlotte (and maybe her marriage) over Alison. Ali points out that Jason said he saw CeCe that night with the yellow top, talking to Melissa... But Charlotte insists that couldn't have been her. Since we know neither Bethany nor Alison ever once spoke to Melissa that night, it means Jason had seen Alison in that outfit at some point that night and then hallucinated it. As soon as he blinked, both Melissa and CeCe were gone.... he was completely wasted that night and it was all a fabrication, it's as simple as that. He was right to have never trusted what he saw.
Charlotte then says Jessica paid Wilden off to lie about Charlotte's whereabouts that night and drop her off at Radley. Wilden made friends with CeCe over that same summer at Cape May. Jessica can't bring herself to hug Charlotte goodbye, and then Charlotte went back to Radley, where she would spend the next year and a half alone. Until Mona arrived... Charlotte made sure to only visit Mona for "story time" as long as Mona was in a drug-induced daze so that she wouldn't be able to tell that Charlotte wasn't actually Alison. Charlotte claims that she was pissed at the PLLs for being "happy that Alison was gone," but that's only a small part of it... Keep in mind, she was told all about the PLLs from SEASON 2 MONA'S perspective. Mona would've seen them as the devil incarnate, and Charlotte would've been completely influenced by Mona's words. Charlotte never admitted this, but she was most likely JEALOUS of the FREEDOM that these girls got to experience despite their crimes... "Those bitches are happy that Ali is gone? Why should I be in Radley when these bitches BLINDED a girl and don't have to face any consequences? Mona had every right go after them and they see HER as the bad guy and get treated like VICTIMS?" I'm pretty sure this was all going through Charlotte's mind and that would actually be a reasonable motive for her being "A" and tormenting the girls the way she did... It's a blend of sociopathy and extreme envy.
Charlotte played the gAme with Mona to try and completely escape from Radley. When we first meet CeCe, Mona still considers herself the master of the gAme at the time and that she was able to use Ali as her partner in crime. Together, Mona would naturally think that they'd be unstoppable. Charlotte claims that her "first assignment" was to make friends in Rosewood. But why would Mona tell ALISON to go "make friends" with the PLLs? I don't think that was Charlotte's assignment at all and it was just another lie she told to sound glib as she formed her story... Charlotte chose to meet the PLLs herself unbeknownst to Mona. By the time they changed Mona's meds, Charlotte began only communicating to Mona through "A" messages and goading her into continuing the gAme... She apparently still needed to visit Mona as Red Coat at times, so she got Wren to make her a fake visitors pass since she couldn't just go up to the front desk and ask for one herself in case anybody recognized her as the long-standing Radley patient: Charlotte DiLaurentis. Interestingly enough, WHILE Mona was drugged up, she gave Charlotte an idea about how to leave Radley for good. And apparently, the secret was to get familiar with the computerized systems in Radley so that she could write herself out of the database and avoid the right people. Wren probably helped a great deal as well. But any involvement Charlotte had with Wren was completely kept out of her story... which again, is another suspicious thing that Charlotte withheld.
After catching Ali watching over the girls in the red coat, Charlotte claims that the goal of the meet-up at the lodge that night as to distract the PLLs so that she could find out once and for all if Alison was really alive and there to protect them. So she sent Sara in her place... This throws everything we thought we knew about Sara out the window. She was not some Stockholmed prisoner in the Dollhouse because she wasn't decrepit, uncoordinated, or slow-moving whatsoever during these little tasks. That means Sara was never held captive in the Dollhouse and it was all a big ruse so that she could be a spy for Charlotte. Charlotte apparently never questioned why Sara would help her once they met, which was god knows when... she must have thought they were just kindred spirits; fellow sociopaths who wanted to make those girls suffer. Given how self-centered Charlotte is, I can definitely believe that. But it's very interesting, because it contradicts what Charlotte said about never being able to trust anybody... And so does her involvement with Wren, Jenna, Noel, Archer... For someone who had serious trust issues, she seemed to trust a LOT of people...
Anyway, when Sara distracted Spencer, Shana set fire to the lodge... which was completely unexpected for Charlotte. She believes the girls when they say they saw Alison that night... Sara (wearing the Ali mask) pulled Aria, Emily, and Mona out of the lodge, and Ali pulled Hanna out. Alison asks Charlotte why she kept playing the game, but Charlotte kind of fast-forwards to New York here... She conveniently leaves out the part about her feeling threatened by Wilden, who was pissed at her for revealing that he was Beach Hottie, and that he was likely going to back out of their deal and turn her in for killing Alison to get himself off the hook. Charlotte was pushed into a corner and killed Wilden for that reason... But instead, she spins it as though she killed Wilden because he somehow found out Alison was alive and Charlotte claims to have thought Wilden wanted to kill Alison to keep her quiet about that night at Cape May. Yeah, I call bull on that. Charlotte killed Wilden to protect HERSELF, not Alison... and all of the events of season 3B and 4A strongly support this. That was yet another lie Charlotte told in order to garner sympathy.
Charlotte glosses over or outright SKIPS all of this. But she kills Wilden and then she ends up on the run, trying to frame Hanna's mother for the murder by paying off Travis, the only witness. Once that fails, she tries one last hurrah at Ravenswood (after having reunited with Ali at some point -- I know it would've made no sense for Ali or Charlotte to mention to EACH OTHER when this happened, but I would've loved to have that cleared up) and then hide out in Rosewood wherever she could. When Shana turns her in to the police after finding her in a New York hotel, a deleted scene (with music and everything) reveals that Officer Barry Maple was paid off by Jessica to let her hijack the police car while they were en route to the station. Charlotte then went to New York, found Alison, and let the PLLs think Shana was "A" while she fled the country and essentially escaped her consequences.
Charlotte COMPLETELY leaves out that she met up with Wren, that she met Alex Drake (Spencer's twin sister), and that she also met Archer the love of her life during this trip abroad. Instead, she just says that she felt the addiction pulling her back into the gAme because she got drunk off of how powerful it made her feel. The attack on Alison in her living room was VICIOUS..... That felt like a crime of passion to me, Charlotte didn't just make it seem real... she was taking her anger out on Alison for daring to leave again after all this time. She nearly froze Aria and Spencer to death, as if Charlotte can magically tell just how much their bodies and organs could take before they would keel over? She hot-wired the car to drive it through Emily's house, and claims it didn't matter because none of the PLLs or their moms were severely injured. Despite the fact that she tried to put Hanna's mom away for 20 years in jail to save her own ass.... This woman is heartless, and unfortunately, all of those years being wrongfully locked up at Radley as a young child have made her delusional.
"I love all of my dolls. That's why you're still alive." These aren't the sentiments of a misunderstood person. They're the words of a sociopath. Charlotte then finds a way to segue back to Wilden, which means she went BACKWARDS in her story's timeline for the first time. Why? Because she was trying to avoid telling the timeline for the events that led to his death, since the PLLs might align it with the time Emily got CeCe in trouble with Wilden about "Beach Hottie." I'll say it again... Charlotte is a total snake for this. She makes Alison think that she killed Wilden to protect ALISON.... sent Sara in as the Black Widow so that, even if someone stopped her and caught her wearing a mask, no one would be able to identify her.
And finally, getting back to the time she left for New York, Charlotte tried to say goodbye to Mrs. D. but found her dead in the DiLaurentis yard. I do think she shed tears over this, but not the dramatic performance that we saw in the flashback. I think she then became filled with a dark, quiet rage as we know what happened next. "A" (meaning Charlotte) dragged Jessica's body all the way to the Hastings backyard next door and then proceeded to throw dirt onto her and RECORD IT as she sent it to Alison later. That's not playing a gAme with your sister, that was her tormenting her cousin. Charlotte tried to have Sara blow up Radley so that she could just be done with everything once and for all... But once that failed, it seems she fell back on a new plan and convinced herself that it still wasn't over. AGAIN. She pretended to get better in Welby and had Archer show up as Rollins to help with that so that he could recommend her release as Alison tried to use the family sympathy card to get her out. We then learn from Mona's confession about killing Charlotte that she was never sorry... She knew all along by season 5 that Spencer was her real sister, not Alison. She planned on making the town suffer because she feels like she's owed the world and more.
As we saw at the end of the show... all of that fake remorse from her confession in Radley... was a pack of lies. So who's to say that the parts of her story that felt like plot holes weren't lies too? I know it's daring to try and rewrite the story with headcanons based on the concept that anybody could lie to the viewers at any time... but when done with a lot of care, I think this all really checks out. Get into the mind of the character and see what they're REALLY thinking and what REALLY happened... Everything from the timeline of Marion's death, to the motive, to the weird backtracking of her story regarding Wilden, to the proven attempts at playing the victim card... I think this is the twisted truth about Charlotte's origins and why she did what she did as Big "A".

2024.04.05 23:38 angel_in_training_ The Buster incident [Creative nonfiction]

(Author’s note: This story is based off of a real-life experience my friends and I went through in March! There is a minor conflict between two animals, and I’m not sure if it resulted in something severe, but if that may be a trigger for you, I advise against reading this. [The cat does not get hurt!] I hope you enjoy!)
*
“What is that?” Louis asks, pointing to a short, shadowed creature walking towards us. I squint from the swingset. “What the hell?” The creature is short and stout. It’s— “A cat!” Alison cheers, bounding up to it. “Do you think it’s a stray?” Louis asks. “It has a collar…” Delilah answers, sitting on the swing next to me. As the cat walks in front of us, I lean in to pet it. I miss. Within a blink, Alison has scooped it up in her arms. “His name is ‘Buster’.” She fiddles with the metal tags, getting a closer look. “Where’s this address?” Louis goes over to read it, then he plugs the address into Google Maps. “It lives in a house behind the park,” Louis says. Buster squirms and Alison sets it down. I try to pet it again as it walks by. “I know we only planned to hang out at the park, but it would be fun to go for a walk around the lake,” I suggest. The night hangs thick in the sky, but the moon shines through to light the way. “Sounds fun,” Louis replies. We all gather our things, and then say our farewells to Buster. We leave the park and proceed down the sidewalk. “Guys, look,” Alison says. We turn. “Buster is following us.” True to her word, this stranger of grey and white trails behind us. When someone drags behind, the cat drags furthur, ensuring we’re all there. We walk slower for Buster. We enter a dirt path that curves around the bay. Now there are no more streetlights, and the trees surrounding us are just silhouettes. The moon and our phones’ flashlights help us see our next step. Soon the path opens up to a rocky beach. The trees become shrubs and the lake pools into view. We make our way along a slimmer path at the top of the beach, and Buster darts in and out of the tall grass. The path curves around a tall landmark on a hill. “What is that?” Delilah asks, pointing to the landmark. “Let’s go see.” We all ascend the hill, and at the top, there is a huge signpost. Cross-hatching signs overlap and point in various directions, revealing places tens of thousands of metres away. We circle around the pole, reading its tall tales of unknown locations. In this moment of silent fascination, I feel a deep connection to my new friends. “Hey, where’d Buster go?” Alison asks. After a bit of searching, Alison calls from below the short slope. “He’s down here!” She sticks her hands in the shrubs. “He’s got something!” “Like an animal?” I ask, hurrying down the hill to assist. “Yeah, I think he got a baby bird!” She shoos the cat away, but he circles back to find his prey. “Kieran, take him away!” Alison picks Buster up and hands him to me. I’m holding him under the armpits like a wiggling baby. He’s really soft. I run back up the hill. “You’re a strange cat, Buster. I want to consider you a friend, but murder is not cool.” Buster wiggles harder in response. We spend a while searching for the baby bird, to no avail. Buster looks apologetic. “I think we should start heading back,” I suggest. “Delilah and Alison need to catch the bus before they stop running.” They agree, and it’s up to me to lead them back. I’ve walked these trails many times before, and I’ve biked them even more. Out of nowhere, something slams against the ground. When I turn around, Delilah is sprawled out on the dirt. Their 50 pound backpack either cushioned their fall or broke their back. Alison is laughing maniacally. “What happened?” I hold out a hand for Delilah, pulling them to their feet. Their mouth is stuck between a smile and a frown, forming a fixed line on their face. They dust themselves off. “I didn’t think you would actually fall,” Alison laughs out. It turns out she tripped them. The thirst for revenge burns in Delilah’s eyes and I crack a smile. While we walk, Alison and Delilah keep bumping into each other like siblings. “Kieran, how much longer ‘til we’re back?” one of the siblings asks. “About 20 minutes.” Maybe longer, since we keep stopping for Buster to catch up. “How are we going to leave him? We can’t take him to residence with us,” Louis says. The thought of having to abandon Buster surprises me with hurt. “I guess we’ll run away really fast? I don’t want to leave him. He’s one of the wanderers now.” Wanders is the term for our friend group. Buster has earned his way in, and now we’re united through being lost and found. They all agree to a plan that has to happen. We leave the path, returning to the concrete sidewalk. We become illuminated in artificial light, outlined in a yellowish glow. We made it around the lake. We made a new friend. Before this moment passes, I lift my phone. While positioned with all five of us in frame, I take a photo of the Buster incident. We’re getting close to the park now, and close to where Buster lives. “Ready?” I ask, ready to run. “On three. One, two… Three!” We all race down the concrete sidewalk, trying to outrun Buster. When I turn around, I see Buster running too— right into his backyard. We wave him goodbye, laughing. I’m not a hugger, but it feels nice to hug my friends goodbye tonight.
*
The next day, Alison sends Buster’s facebook page in the Wanderers group chat. It turns out our new friend is famous.

2024.04.01 18:41 Realistic_Cicada_39 Would a defense attorney mislead the public? Ali Motta would…

There seems to be some confusion as to what a defense attorney legally can & cannot say. Several people have told me that RA’s former attorney Lebrato went on TV & stated he believes RA is innocent. Their understanding was that a defense attorney wouldn’t make such a statement unless they truly believed it. Their understanding was that a defense attorney could not lie to the public or on television. Therefore this interview was “proof” that RA is innocent.
I think the defense has been intentionally leaking photos and information (via “accidental” emails, “betrayals” by “trusted” friends, press releases mislabeled as “Franks Memos,” etc.) to the public to taint a jury and mislead the public.
I was told that defense attorneys wouldn’t intentionally leak crime scene photos, that they wouldn’t lie to the public, that they wouldn’t make false claims in court filings.
So here’s an article that shows that defense attorneys DO lie to the public, that they DO make false claims about evidence, & that they DO claim clients are innocent when they know their client is guilty.

Article Text:
Did lawyer for accused killer Garcia say too much? Prosecutor files motion to remove defense team after attorney's comments about DNA results

Update: Prosecutors have filed a motion to remove Anthony Garcia's defense team. The judge will hear the motion at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Prosecutors are trying to have Anthony Garcia’s defense team removed after one of its members claimed that a DNA test exonerates Garcia in the 2008 killings of a 57-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy in Dundee.
The DNA test doesn’t exonerate Garcia, according to attorneys who deal with DNA. But that didn’t stop the defense attorney, Alison Motta, from proclaiming as much to The World-Herald on Friday and two TV stations Monday, just a week before Garcia’s murder trial begins in the deaths of four people.
“The evidence conclusively exonerates Anthony Garcia,” Motta said on KMTV on Monday.
After that, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine told a judge Tuesday that he will file a motion to strip the Chicago attorneys — Motta, husband Robert Motta Jr. and father-in-law Robert Motta Sr. — of their guest pass to practice law in Nebraska, The World-Herald has learned.
Outside court, Kleine declined to comment. Prosecutors are expected to file the motion Wednesday, essentially asking to strip the Mottas of what’s known as their "pro hac vice" rights, or temporary permission to practice law in Nebraska.
Alison Motta declined to comment Tuesday night.
Garcia is scheduled to go on trial Monday on charges that he killed Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman in March 2008, then killed Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife, Mary, in May 2013.
Motta’s statements led several courthouse attorneys, including Douglas County Public Defender Tom Riley, to question whether she was trying to poison the jury pool on the eve of Garcia’s trial.
In talking with The World-Herald on Friday about the Hunter and Sherman slayings, Motta said the defense team hoped that “we’ll maybe get a call from the county attorney’s office that they’re dismissing those charges.”
Her statements followed the Friday arrest of Charles Simmer in the 2007 death of Joy Blanchard. Omaha police said new DNA testing led them to arrest Simmer. Blanchard was stabbed to death in November 2007, as were Hunter and Sherman the following March.
After Simmer was arrested, Alison Motta tweeted that her investigator’s work had led police to the suspect.
On the other hand, prosecutors said police and Blanchard’s family had long considered Simmer a possible suspect and said the department’s cold-case squad had long investigated the case.
“Our (private investigator) ... lead the investigation that uncovered connection btwn Charlie Simmer & 2008 & 2007 murders,” Motta tweeted. She went a step farther this week, claiming that DNA on Sherman’s bandanna linked Simmer to the Dundee scene.
According to attorneys who deal in DNA odds, the test in question did not come close to making such a link.
The defense team’s own report put the bandanna odds at 1 in 300. That means 1 out of every 300 people could have contributed the DNA. In other words, more than 23 million people worldwide — not just Simmer — could have contributed the DNA.
The DNA on Sherman’s bandanna was a mixture of genetic material from several individuals.
Further clouding the test, Sherman and Simmer shared several of the same markers.
Another issue: The sample contained only about one-third of the genetic locations that scientists look for to match it to a suspect’s DNA. Such a partial sample is far from enough for the DNA experts at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to issue a scientific conclusion. Those UNMC experts typically require markers on at least half of the locations, prosecutors say.
Riley, who represents Simmer, said he has concerns that the out-of-court comments could influence people’s view of his client’s innocence or guilt.
He said linking Simmer to the Dundee scene is an “extreme statement” — and said he knows of no evidence to support it.
The public defender of four decades estimated that such out-of-court commentary could extend the jury selection process in Garcia’s case from three days to more than a week.
“Especially in a high-profile case like this,” he said. “With pending cases, you’re not supposed to be making comments like that. Period. End of story.”
u/Boboblaw014, I’d love to hear you weigh in on this. Why did Ali say the DNA test cleared Garcia? Why did she lie? Prior to the trial, did you believe Garcia was innocent? Do you currently believe he is innocent? How many of your former clients did you consider actually innocent? What does a defense attorney do if prior to trial, he/she discovers that their client is factually innocent? Do they publicly name the “real killers” thus preventing those “real killers” from getting a fair trial, or do they turn over any evidence to law enforcement &/or the prosecution so that the “real killers” can be prosecuted?
My understanding is that if someone can be proven innocent prior to trial, the charges will be dropped & the person released from custody - & the “real killers” will be charged. That’s not happening here.
You keep talking about fair trials & due process - do you really want BH, JM, EF, & PW to be subjected to unconstitutional searches? Do you want them to be arrested even though there is not enough probable cause for an arrest? Do you want the public to be accusing them of murder or calling them guilty when they haven’t even been arrested or charged with that crime? Do you think it’s fair that you keep bringing up their names on your livestreams when they are both factually & legally innocent?
