2024.05.19 15:48 Girl-08 What is a minore plot line you wanted to see more?

Maybe this plot line is more TO but the lockwood family having a bone of Inadu, like how? didn’t they say the bone where divided in the royal family? so how did the Lockwood family got to them, like the Lockwood were werewolf but it was a dark secret forgotten by them
and this come up with another question, so they royal werewolf bloodline come from the first 7 werewolf who were turned by Inadu, where does Tyler type werewolf come? or the werewolf who are not royal? like how did they divide the royal bloodline from the normal wolf?
It is a shame they killed Tyler character when there was an amazing plot for him, like it seems like the writer didn’t known what to do with him, his only story line was him being a werewolf and then becoming a hybrid lol, like i needed to see more storyline about the werewolf

2024.05.18 22:28 lawrencedun2002 Here's how a makeup artist from Springfield collaborated with Gypsy Rose Blanchard in LA

Here's how a makeup artist from Springfield collaborated with Gypsy Rose Blanchard in LA
Alexis Oakley has done makeup for Emma Stone, Paris Hilton, Demi Lovato, and Kris Jenner, but her work has never garnered as much attention as when she "glammed" Gypsy Rose Blanchard two weeks ago.
Oakley, a Springfield native, met with the newfound celebrity May 1, when Blanchard was in Los Angeles for a red carpet event promoting her new Lifetime docuseries, "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up." Oakley met Blanchard in her hotel room, where she did her makeup and the two created social media content together.
Oakley and Blanchard had about two hours to do hair and makeup and one hour to create social media photos and videos. They also stopped in a nearby Sephora for about an hour to shop together. Oakley has posted more than nine videos on her TikTok and Instagram from the collaboration, which have garnered more than 70 million impressions, she said. She also gained more than 250,000 followers on TikTok, almost overnight. As of Wednesday, Oakley has more than 490,600 followers on TikTok.
"I've never gained so many followers from anyone before," Oakley told the News-Leader on Wednesday. "Obviously, I've worked with traditional celebrities ... and a tag can help my career, for sure, but the Gypsy Rose Effect is unlike anything."
Connecting with Gypsy
The collaboration began back in December 2023, a few days after Blanchard was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center, where she served an eight-year sentence for conspiring to kill her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard" with her then-boyfriend Nick Godejohn in 2015.
Blanchard was released from prison Dec. 28 and on Dec. 30, Oakley posted a TikTok video of her setting up her makeup kit with the caption, "Clearing my schedule in case Gypsy Rose wants glam." The video was a part of a trend where TikTokers made videos of them "clearing their schedules" to do specific activities with Blanchard. As of Wednesday, Oakley's video had more than 454,200 views.
Though the video garnered more engagement than her other content, Oakley said she didn't think much of it. However, she was genuinely interested in doing Blanchard's makeup.
"After that, I saw that she was doing press in New York and getting her hair and makeup done and I was like, 'Okay, she's about to start being a glam girl, how can I get my name in there?'" Oakley recalled. "I DMed (direct messaged) her a million times (on Instagram), but obviously she wasn't seeing anything because I think she got 12 million followers overnight."
Oakley decided to take it a step further and began sifting through the list of accounts Blanchard followed on Instagram, which at the time was about 100.
"I was just looking for someone who was maybe a manager, publicist or friend," Oakley continued. "I ended up finding a few girls who worked on the Lifetime team and DMed them and said, 'Oh my gosh, I saw Gypsy is doing press. How can I glam her? Can you connect me? Who should I reach out to?' and they were like, 'Oh my gosh, we actually saw your TikTok.'" In January, Lifetime aired a six-episode docuseries called "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard," which chronicled the history of Blanchard's case and some of her life in prison.
After connecting with members of Lifetime, it was about four months before Oakley heard from them again, which she said is typical when working with celebrities. Then out of nowhere Oakley received the call: Are you available? Gypsy is coming to Los Angeles.
Four hours and a lasting friendship
According to Oakley, Blanchard was only in Los Angeles for about 24 hours. Ahead of the Lifetime red carpet event, Blanchard visited Santa Monica Pier — it was her first time seeing the ocean — and did some staple California activities, like trying In-N-Out Burger. Then, Blanchard and Oakley met up for hair and makeup in Blanchard's hotel room.
"We just connected right away," Oakley said of Blanchard. "I filmed the entire process, which I typically try to do with my clients ... She was so sweet, such an easy client and just so excited to learn about makeup and just asking questions the entire time: 'What's this product? How do you apply this? Why are you putting it there? What does this do? Have I been doing this wrong?' (She) was very, very eager to learn, which is so fun for me."
During hair and makeup, Oakley learned that Blanchard had never been to a Sephora, so she asked Blanchard's team if they would have enough time to run by a nearby mall. Fortunately, they were able to work it into her schedule.
The two bought an array of makeup products, including moisturizer, foundation and concealer, blush, mascara, eyebrow pencils and lip liner.
"It was just so sweet and it honestly made me so emotional taking her as she'd never been before, she's 32 years old and doesn't really know how to do her makeup," Oakley said. "Watching her light up when I would tell her about certain products ... was just really, really cool."
Since Blanchard's visit to Los Angeles, Oakley said the two have been texting back and forth daily. And while nothing is confirmed, Oakley said Blanchard told her that she would like for her to do her makeup for her wedding, when that day comes.
Getting started and what's next
Oakley got her start doing prom and bridal makeup in her parent's basement in high school, but she knew she was interested in more sophisticated work.
A few weeks after graduating from New Covenant Academy in 2016, Oakley moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18. Upon arriving, she enrolled at Make-Up Designory, a five-month professional make-up training program.
"Two days before I graduated Make-Up Designory, I landed a job as an assistant for a really huge celebrity makeup artist. That was kind of that moment for me where I was like, 'Okay, I think this is supposed to be what I do." The makeup artist was Rachel Goodwin, who has worked with Emma Stone, Laura Dern, Jennifer Lawrence, Zendaya and countless other A-list celebrities.
Oakley said she spent about four years working as an assistant for various celebrity makeup artists before establishing herself independently. The first two celebrities she worked with on her own were Paris Hilton and Jessica Alba, both in the same week.
More recently, Oakley has enjoyed collaborating with social media content creators including Tanya Mongeau, Trisha Paytas and Brianna LaPaglia.
When it comes to Oakley's relationship with Blanchard, she said she hopes to stay in contact and do her makeup anytime she's in Los Angeles.
As for future clients, Oakley said her dream celebrity that she would like to work with is Hailey Bieber. She also hopes to host more in-person events like meet-and-greets and masterclasses.

2024.05.18 21:28 Excellent-Peanut-183 17 1/2 year old Tyler passed away this past Tuesday

17 1/2 year old Tyler passed away this past Tuesday
I knew they don’t live forever, but it didn’t make this any easier. Tyler had high blood pressure for a long time - he went completely blind not long ago. My guess is his blood pressure led to detached retinas. Once he lost his sight, he started going downhill, fairly quickly. I hoped he’d adjust and get around even though he was blind, but he lost his desire to live pretty much and ate less and less, and hid in a closet almost all the time.
Late Monday night he found his way most of the way to the living room, which he hadn’t done since he’d gone blind. I picked him up and sat with him for quite a while on the couch, knowing what was likely coming. I found him the following morning.
I have to remind myself that Tyler was lucky to have made it this long. He suffered a blockage in his gall bladder around age 8 1/2, and not eating for just a couple days at that time led to hepatic lipidosis. He spent over a week in an animal hospital, but recovered completely…and lived 9 more years.
Tyler’s brother (littermate) is still with me, as is the 5 year old cat I adopted a year and a half ago, but there’s a hole in my heart. I miss him so much, and I keep catching myself looking reflexively for him. The other night when getting cans of food to feed my now 2 cats, I instinctively reached for a 3rd before I caught myself.
Rest easy now Tyler. You were such a good kitty.

2024.05.18 13:18 R-U-Crying Lies and new demands

I have been watching Abby Lauren for over 2 years now, and I honestly didn’t think she could have possibly gotten any worse than before she took off three months ago. Boy was I wrong about that. Not only was she complaining about a stalker before, but wow she is completely come up with some elaborate stories since being back just three weeks. Abby really wants everyone to believe her stalker walked in her mother’s home, walked up the stairs that creeks while she was in the kitchen making breakfast; then proceeded to her bedroom and took her cell phone and wrapped the charger up and left without her seeing her leave? Let’s not forget the stalker also hacked into her mother’s Alexa and phone then had it say awful things about Abby, and requested it to play Crazy/Crazy Bitch. Now let’s talk about her new man Anthony David. He’s a charmer, she loves to brag about how she saw him in treatment and knew he was going to be hers. Anthony is a hot head who has a short fuss, that loves to talk big behind the camera to other people. He loves to brag that he has money, a fast car, multiple houses, and is a PI. Guess what, he’s broke, doesn’t own any properties, he drives a ford explore, and he’s not a PI. The two of them seem to really feed off of the lies the other one tells. They are both drinking together at night with a loaded firearm. Abby has bragged that Anthony has shown her how to use it. It’s scary to hear them talk about people and not knowing what they’re capable of together. Abby before was just a person that went live and talked a lot of nonsense most of the time. But now since returning to TT with Anthony she has changed into a more dangerous person. The people that I see in her chat that I can only describe as her friends, are encouraging their behavior. Most of them I am completely shocked by because they are smart enough to know and I honestly think they didn’t support her behavior themselves at one point or another. Are these friends really her friends? Or are they just trying to make Abby go off the rails/deep end and self sabotage herself? Are they watching to see if someone gets hurt in real life? Now Abby is demanding past #1 creators to get in her chat to explain how they got their coins or snipes. She is asking her mods to go find these individuals and bring them to her. She was calling out Jimmy, Jon Collins, Tyler, Missy, VSwiss, and Faith last night. Why couldn’t Abby just come back to the app and mind her own business and start her new account with a little bit of humility? I know why, it’s because people in her chat aka her friends don’t hold her accountable. So when Abby loses her mind again, I think everyone helping her including Anthony should be ashamed of themselves. And if anything criminal happens it will be on those individuals as well.

2024.05.18 13:01 AggravatingSwimmer25 A Few Dark Audio Dramas worth listening to

Hi people,
just wanted to share some of the recent AD i've listened to and give some recommendations

The Mantawauk caves

13 episodes. Finished.
https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-the-mantawauk-caves-110170167/
When Julien Solas receives word that James Fincher’s execution date has been set, he returns to Mantawauk County after 14 years to reconcile his past and uncover the truth behind the killings of two teenage boys.
A haunting Crime story/ Horror Story set in Appalachia Tennessee
Julien Solas is haunted by ghosts from the past. He hears voices. Or is it in his head?
This small town has an history with violence, human monsters or is there something else out there, in the caves? A dark, gruesome at times and heartbreaking tale of redemption and fate. You may think of Angel's Heart and True Detective season one in terme of atmosphere.
I some aspect i think of The Burned photo and Borrasca aswell.
Pros:
Great story writing. Definitely needs second listen to get all details and clues. No over the top performance/cheesy moment, no filler. Sound design is great. The acting is top quality. Cast is superb all round. Special mention to Justin Welborn who plays Tyler and Clarke Peters as Detective Solomon Smith. Last but not least the theme song is cool.
If you get into it, this story will stay with you long time.
This one has reached my top 5 AD for sure.
Cons:
None.

Dark woods

8 episodes. Not finished.
https://wolfentertainment.com/podcast/darkwoods/
When the body of a young volunteer is discovered in the middle of the California redwoods, two estranged ex-spouses, game warden Mark Ellis and city councilwoman , must put their differences aside to learn the terrifying truth about what is happening in their state park.
Don't get fooled by the title, no Ancien Evil horror at stake here, just a Noir Crime story. Nothing special in the core but masterfully executed. Tension rises nicely after each episode.
Pros:
This one really felt like a Movie in your ears, great production. Top Notch Acting performance. I instantly fell in love with Corey Stoll's disillusioned voice tone.
Cons:
Unfinished Business.
This one will never get finished and this is a real shame. I know Covid f*cked many things up but i can't help feeling it was a huge let down by Wolf Entertainment here. It was then supposed to be adapted into a Tv Series but this never saw the light of the day.

The Occurrence in River Oak

7 Episodes so far, 8th Finale to come.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-occurrence-in-river-oaks/id1723633700
Olivia, the woman running the dispatch radio at the local Sheriff’s office tries to hold everything together when her entire world is falling apart. As the several officers under her command come face to face with a very unexpected threat.
A cool cosmic horror story or when Carpenter's The Thing meets King's The Myst meets Romero's The Crazies. Waiting for the Season finale!
Pros:
the Idea of a story heard through the viewpoint of the local law enforcement personnel via police dispatch network is a great one. Sound design is good and very unsettling at times ( That cat goddamnit), which is very good for a horror AD.
Cons:
Characters that keep telling jokes or small talk when things already escalated kind of broke the tension of the story at times. I don't see the point of Alan, AKA "you're doing just fine Olivia". I find this character, apart from funny jokes at the beginning, useless and anoying.

2024.05.18 07:25 No_Hat_448 The criticism of One More Light and Chester’s death

My name is Geki and I’ve been a hardcore fan of the band since like 2003-2004. People have their opinions on me because I will admit I was a real asshole at times over the years. But try to put all that aside for a minute and here me out on this.
I’ve seen a lot of fans recently on here saying that the criticism of One More Light was the reason Chester did what he did and that the fans who gave him shit were responsible. That is by far the shittiest thing I’ve ever heard a fan say to another fan, and I’ve seen and said some shit.
Chester battled depression for his entire adult life. People who know me in the community know how obsessed I was/am with Chester and I have an extensive knowledge of interviews etc. because I archive everything and remember facts about Chester well. Not trying to sound arrogant but I do. So everything I say here is backed by facts, remember that.
Whether you like Chester’s half sister Tobi or not doesn’t matter. But she said when Chester was 13, he told her that he put a gun in his mouth, contemplating suicide. Yes, she has said crazy stuff at times, but I don’t think she made this up, as Chester as talked about being severely depressed at that young age, even as young as 11, saying he was doing hard drugs at that age. That’s one fact.
There was a police report from 2006 that is FACT that Chester left the house with a gun in 2006 and Talinda had to call the cops to find him. The first half of 2006 was very hard for Chester and was the worst period of his addiction and depression battle, we know this from many interviews he has done and talked about this time period, as well as stuff like the 2006 Club Tattoo show, all that.
It was also TRUE that Chester attempted suicide in November of 2016. Talinda was angry that TMZ leaked this info, but it wasn’t false. Chester literally talked about it in an interview from February of 2017. Also, Talinda never said it was false anyways, she just didn’t want Tyler at the time to have to learn about it that way, about ‘’what really happened that day’’, they likely tried to shield him from it at that time.
So the whole point I’m making here is that Chester has battled suicidal thoughts for his entire adult life. Fans have criticized the band heavily for changing sounds on Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns, Living Things, hell, every album since Hybrid Theory. I would argue that the criticism was worse for Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns, having been a fan during that whole time, it was heavy. Chester even said during an interview in 2017 that they have met criticism as far back as releasing Somewhere I Belong as the first single from Meteora not sounding like Hybrid Theory.
The criticism, while no doubt it bothered him, was not the fucking reason he took his life. I promise you. Fans should not be guilted or bullied by other ‘’fans’’ about that. That’s bullshit.
There was a lot going on in his personal life from 2015-2017. Stuff that I won’t even get into here because people will get all pissy. But it’s true. And I love Talinda. Talinda even said that her and Chester would fight about him taking his depression meds, and she would be afraid of how he acted when asked, and he would go get drunk. He blacked out from alcohol in 2016, went to rehab and everything. It’s a FACT. Talinda would tell you this. He was also extremely drunk when he attempted suicide in November of 2016, too, fact.
By the time stuff started rolling out for One More Light in 2017, Talinda and the band thought Chester was ok. They said this. There’s a fantastic long interview with Talinda, Anna Shinoda and Jim talking about this. Talinda even said that she thought Chester would never consider suicide again after seeing how hurt Chris Cornell’s family was, she said she thought that shook him. She said that’s why his suicide was such a shock on Chris’s birthday, because nobody saw it coming at that time. And that’s how a lot of suicides are. Talinda said it was years or unmedicated depression and self abuse that took Chester.
It wasn’t fans hating the album. And like I said, it did bother him, the criticism, but that wasn’t why he took his life. That’s a very extreme accusation to make and it’s shitty.
Ryan Shuck was asked in 2017 if he thought Chris’s death is why Chester did it and he said he didn’t think so, it was just another churn in the fire, basically saying it was another blow that Chester suffered. It was years of depression, etc.
Personally, I do believe that perhaps Chris’s death is what pushed him over the edge, but there is also things in his personal life that we’re going on that I won’t talk about because there’s no point.

2024.05.18 03:35 Ivan_Redditor 2000s MCU (Phase 2)

2000s MCU (Phase 2)
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
I would have Matthew Vaughn do this (if it wasn’t for those execs writing a fake script for Halle Berry) or Sam Raimi as some sort of side project for him so that he could also take time developing the story of Spider-Man 3.
I would keep the original ideas of TLS like the opening where there are random interferences around the world. The mutant cure and the creation of Sentinels are responses to these attacks.
I would also make Nightcrawler an official member of the team instead of just being left out after X2.
Cyclops still leaves the mansion and DOESN’T GET FUCKING KILLED OFF. He comes back in the final battle as a deus ex machina ala Han Solo in A New Hope and Harry Osborn in Spider-Man 3. Jean and Professor X don’t get killed off. Jean turns into a figure of energy in the end and tells the X-Men that she’ll be watching as he ascends to the stars.
I would add a few more scenes of Angel to show his acceptance of being a mutant while showing his rocky relationship with his father and give him a bigger role in the film.
Rogue doesn’t take the mutant cure and is officially an X-Men member. She also is more like the comics counterpart and would fight against the Magneto-controlled Sentinels in the final battle.
The Brotherhood would be the same, but with more members. Scarlet Witch (Christina Ricci) and Quicksilver (Jensen Ackles) are introduced. Juggernaut (who’s much bigger than the one in the movie we got and is revealed to be Charles’ adopted brother), Callisto, and Pyro are more badass in this version and wouldn’t get done dirty.
This would also be the movie where the X-Men are exposed to the world, which make people see them as terrorists, but the public reception improves as the film progresses. It ends with Cyclops telling a speech to the world that they’re here to protect them from world-ending threats and that they fight for mutant rights.
More Oscorp, Stark Industries, Daily Bugle, and S.H.I.E.L.D. references.
Blade: Trinity (2006)
This would be a Blade-centred story, no Hannibal King or Jessica Biel. Vampire is a much better villain in this version. Moon Knight (Aaron Eckhart) and Werewolf By Night (Benicio Del Toro) are introduced here and helps Blade fight Dracula in the finale.
This would set up the Midnight Sons.
Doctor Strange (2006)
Same plot as the 2016 film. Johnny Depp is Doctor Strange, Christoph Waltz is Kaecilius, and Keanu Reeves is Baron Mordo (him and Depp switched would work too).
Post credits scene shows Blade in the Sanctum Sanctorum, telling Strange that he needs his help to assemble a team.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
I’d probably keep all the deleted scenes that Raimi made. It would be both the Editor’s Cut and The Raimi Cut combined into one. I would’ve gone with the original Venom design, which looked creepier than the one we got instead. Eddie and Sandman get more screen time and I wouldn’t make him be Uncle Ben’s killer. MJ has something to do in this film and helps Peter and Harry in the final battle.
Gwen is the damsel in distress here instead of MJ and that she dies in the final battle. Her and Harry’s death would make Peter heartbroken after all of this. The ending will be the same as the actual film and show Peter's start of moving on from Gwen and starting a new life with MJ.
Baxter Building and Stark Industries building sightings also appear.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2007)
Same as the film we got but this would be the introduction of Black Widow (Milla Jovovich). Ali Larter would play Sharon Carter and Will Smith would play Falcon. Alexander Pierce turns out to be Red Skull, showing that the Tesseract swooped him to the 50s and that (in disguise) he’s the one who actually made S.H.I.E.L.D. absorb Hydra.
Red Skull would be arrested and sent to The Raft by General Ross in the ending.
Ghost Rider (2007)
This would be R Rated and would be a lot darker. Johnny’s transformation into Ghost Rider is more grotesque and disgusting. Mephisto would have his comic accurate look. Blackheart doesn’t have that Twilight-esque relationship with Eva Mendes. Carter Slade would ironically be recasted to Harrison Ford.
Blade appears in the post-credit scene.
Iron Man 2 (2008)
This version still has Justin Hammer (Bob Odenkirk for a Rockwell take, Ian McDiarmid for a comic accurate take) as the main villain, with Whiplash as his henchman. This would also showcase Tony’s alcoholism much better. Would also set up more references to The Ten Rings. Whiplash gets the suit and becomes Crimson Dynamo for this version.
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Leader is the main villain. It would just be u/vampira199x Hulk 2003 pitch that he made for his 2000s MCU, which I liked and was the main inspiration for this pitch while also borrowing ideas from other posts in the subreddit.
The Punisher 2 (2008)
It would just be the 2005 game, but with Barracuda as the villain, no Stark Industries battle, and remove the framing device. More glimpses of the Baxter Building, Oscorp, and Stark Tower in the background of some shots.
Fantastic Four and The Mole Men (2009)
This would have Mole Man (Danny DeVito) and the Moloids as the villain. This would be more space adventure-esque but with the final battle taking place on Earth. Reed and Sue still get married like in ROTSS, but with The Avengers, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Daredevil, and the X-Men (without Wolverine) attending. S.H.I.E.L.D. helps during the final battle.
Daredevil: Born Again (2009)
It would just be DD S3, but with Elektra (Penelope Cruz) and The Hand.
This would introduce Jessica Jones (Liv Tyler). She appears in the ending, taking pictures of Kingpin getting arrested and Daredevil watching on top of the building.
Wolverine: The Story of Weapon X (2010)
I delayed this film a year later for the 2007-2008 writers strike to end (which is one of the reasons why X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucked)
It would still be about his origins and is Rated R, and would be more focused on Wolverine’s origins from getting his bone claws and the darker aspects of the character to his Weapon X experiment, which would end the film.
Cap has a little cameo in the WW2 scenes and there would be mentions of the Weapon Plus program having him as the first guy to participate in the program. More S.H.I.E.LD. references.
Ant-Man and The Wasp (2010)
AIM and Darren Cross (Billy Zane) are the main villains here. It would just be the 2015 film but with the AIM from Iron Man 3. The film ends with Hank creating Ultron.
Thor: The Forbidden Daughter (2011)
It would just be Thor Ragnarok but without Hulk and not killing off the Warriors Three, since they will help him alongside Thor in the final battle. It would also be less comedic and have a much darker tone.
X-Men: First Class (2011)
Same film, but Darwin doesn’t die, he just turns into big ball of energy and shows up in the end after Charles is shot, watching in the sky.
Spider-Man 4 (2011)
Vulture (John Malkovich) is the main villain. It would probably just be the Spider-Man 4 Raimi wanted to make, with Black Cat (Anne Hathaway) to ruin Peter and MJ’s relationship. Felicia would go through some character development from being a cat burglar to a straight up anti-hero.
Luke Cage (Terry Crews) gets introduced in the post credit scene, watching the news coverage of Spider-Man defeating Vulture.
The Defenders (2012)
The Defenders (Spider-Man, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist (Chris Pine)) fight against Kingpin, who has now ruled over the Hand. It would just have the same story as the Netflix show, but with Kingpin as the main villain instead of Alexandra Reid and Elektra dying in the rubble with Kingpin, while Peter saves Matt from dying with her. It ends like the 2003 film.
It also is revealed that Peter and Jessica had a history, since Jessica had a crush on Peter when they were in school together.
The Midnight Sons (2012)
This would be horror-themed and would have Mephisto as the main villain. The lineup would consist of Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, Hannibal King (Peter Facinnelli), Werewolf by Night (Josh Hartnett), and Elsa Bloodstone (Minnie Driver).
Avengers: Age of Ultron Part 1 (2013)
It would adapt the Age of Ultron storyline justice but with Ultron assembling the Masters of Evil (or Liberators or Masters of Earth): Red Skull, Dr. Doom, Magneto, Sandman, The Mole Man, Loki, and The Leader. Magneto would also seem weary of the inclusion of Schmidt here, especially if you know his origin. Vision (Mark Strong) starts out as a villain here.
The ending shows that they failed, and leads to a bleak and dystopian future where the villains have ruled over the world.
This is also where Black Widow and Hawkeye (Timothy Olyphant) are integrated in the team. Wanda and Pietro too.
The Wolverine (2013)
Set before the events of AOU Part 1, but still the same movie. The Silver Samurai outfit is more smaller and the third act is a fight between him and Logan.
No DOFP tease post credit scene, since I’ll save it for later.
Avengers: Age of Ultron Part 2 (2013)
The Avengers would encourage the help from the F4, X-Men, and Spider-Man to stop them.
Spider-Man would fangirl over meeting Cap, since he often saw him as his idol due to Uncle Ben always telling stories about him and Peter reading a lot of Cap comics when he was a kid.
Cap would recognize Logan from his WW2 days, but Logan doesn’t remember because of the adamantium bullet wiping away his memories.
Magneto, Sandman, and Vision would turn against them and help the Avengers, F4, and X-Men fight the Masters of Evil, which they succeeded. Sandman sacrifices his life while fighting them. Magneto gets arrested and put in the restructured glass prison from X-Men and X2, but more secure. The battle causes a lot of collateral damage, which leads to the government creating the Superhuman Registration Act in response to the Ultron attack in the ending.

2024.05.18 03:00 FloofySkuntank Total Drama Not-Stars ep.22

Total Drama Not-Stars ep.22
Suggestion by Proofracer: Last time on Total Drama Not-Stars! Instead of focusing on the final five it was all about the seventeen losers who lost again. We checked up on them and saw how they were doing.
Katie and Sadie were happy to be reunited, Ella, who has not a single mean bone in her body, forgave Katie. Several complained about Amy getting them eliminated, with Sammy being her biggest hater. No surprise there. What was a surprise was how Chris would handle these votes! Of course he would only tell them after that had voted…
Katie immediately mentions how much she misses Trent with Ella agreeing. Sadie covers their mouths and says her and Katie won’t be responsible for what happens again. Sadie votes Amy.
Amy: 1 Trent: 2
Eva complains that Rodney weirded her out and it’s a miracle he’s still in. Noah agrees saying how riding a canoe with him gushing about Bridgette was annoying. Sammy snaps at them and says Rodney is a sweetheart and that Amy should go home! Sammy then realizes she accidentally threw a vote to Rodney and facepalms.
Amy: 1 Trent: 2 Rodney: 3
Ezekiel says Amy should go. He then goes wide eyed and panics, saying not because she’s a girl but because she played him. Harold agrees with Ezekiel. B shrugs and says definitely Amy with Beardo nodding. Dawn says that she’s worried Anne Maria’s hair spray will destroy the environment. She fears how much Anne will buy with a million dollars.
Amy: 5 Trent: 2 Rodney: 3 Anne Maria: 1
Dakota says that she should be the last Revenge girl and it stinks that it wound up being Anne instead of her. Leonard says that Anne Maria elixir has a powerful hardening effect he’d love to investigate.
Amy: 5 Trent: 2 Rodney: 3 Anne Maria: 3
Staci says that her great great great great great great great great great great uncle Trent was really good at decision making. Before him people just picked randomly. Everyone stares at her. Topher say the one with the least style and charisma should go home and that’s Anne Maria. Tyler says that red is his favorite color and Amy is making it look evil. This whole group gets stares. Brick says Amy has showed no honor or loyalty and should go.
Amy: 7 Trent: 3 Rodney: 3 Anne Maria: 4
Chris cackles evilly and disappears in a cloud of smoke. It then shows the final five using the confessional. Anne Maria says that after leaving first she didn’t really care all that much since Playa was so fancy, but if she’s gonna be brought back you better believe she’s come to play for all that cheddar! Bridgette says she’s so proud of herself for proving she can do this game without Geoff after all, even if she really misses him. She blows the camera a kiss and says hi to Geoff. Amy says that she messed up big time and she’s not sure what to do. She’s come so far and to not win would suck. But it’s really hard to stay focused when Rodney is the only person who talks to her. Rodney is super excited! He says he was so girl obsessed before he never would have survived this game! Now he can make friends and talk to them normally! He’d really like to win to show how far he’s come. Trent says he’s never gotten this far and he lost a lot after three season. This time he’s found a really cool girl and is still keeping his head in the game. He really wants to win for Ella since she was eliminated unfairly. He wonders if she’d still be here if Katie didn’t rig the votes… no offense Katie.
Chris then tells them to report to the campfire. Where he has four marshmallows. Trent and Bridgette gulp while the others look confused. Chris says that the eliminated contestants voted this time. Amy gets up and starts walking only to be hit by a marshmallow. Chris says there was a twist this time and that whoever the campers wanted back LEAST would be eliminated. Now the other four are freaking out until Anne Maria and Rodney get a marshmallow. Trent and Bridgette look at one another worriedly until Chris gives the last marshmallow to Trent. Chris says no one voted for Bridgette which means they’ll be so happy to see her. Bridgette calls Chris a massive jerk before leaving.
Then there’s this weird episode with a flood, and a coconut but we don’t talk about that. After that though the final four are split into girls vs boys. They are dropped into the woods and must find camp and touch the central totem pole to get immunity. Will Rodney’s farm life prevail in the wilderness? What about Trent’s level head? Will Amy and Anne Maria not kill each other? There’s only one way to find out and that’s for YOU to decide!

2024.05.18 01:22 Objective-Farm-2560 Doctor's Orders: Chapter 3

Thank you to u/SpacePaladin15 for creating the NoP-verse and allowing fanfics!
This was co-written with u/ImaginationSea3679 and is a sequel to The Way of the Human!
Prequel startPrequel endFirstPrevious
Memory transcription subject: Thass, Arxur-UN Cooperative Liaison
Date [standardised human time]: 27th of November, 2136
The cursed meeting was taking far longer than I could bear, and much the same could be said to the pathetic diplomats we were negotiating with. Despite their initial bravado, it quickly wore off and they grew fearful of my presence. So when a recess was suggested, I was relieved that it was agreed upon that we would spend [45 minutes] away from the bureaucracy for a decently timed break.
I sighed as I reclined myself in a chair. Human furniture was extremely comfortable, more than it probably had any right to be. The leaf-licking predators were arguably soft, but they had a fierce streak hidden under that calm and weak persona. The speed at which I’d seen a personality shift in some humans was so sudden I sometimes wondered if I was even talking to the same person when it happened.
What was I thinking about again?
Oh, right, furniture.

Well, I have no other thoughts on the furniture. I should move on.
Helaven and Barisis were eagerly munching on salads and fruits respectively. I myself had myself a freshly cooked steak, which Barisis was trying to avert her eyes from. Human food was really starting to grow on me. I had already come to enjoy the higher quality meat from my time on Earth, but the longer I had it in my diet, the more I came to appreciate the tiniest of details in the flavour.
The slight char from the ‘cooking’ process was a surprisingly savoury addition, creating a contrast from other meats. If I had the opportunity, I wished to further explore the possibilities offered by Terran cuisine. Learning how to correctly burn the meat would be a terrific way of enhancing the flavour. It was supposedly one of humanity’s greatest feats, so that only made me more eager to-
I was caught off guard by a smoky scent that most definitely did not come from my meal. Was another piece of meat being cooked?
Sniff
EURGH, FUCK!
The deep breath meant to identify the horrid smell instead sent me into a coughing fit. It was like I was breathing in toxic fumes!
“Fucking- cough -Prophet!” I wheezed, feeling like my lungs were being stabbed by hundreds of tiny needles. “What is that- cough -horrible smoke- cough -in the air!?”
I turned to see a human female holding some sort of roll of paper that had been set on fire. The human then proceeded to-
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” Helaven shouted as I stared in both awe and absolute terror.
This human was literally breathing cinders and smoke without any sort of complaint.
“I’m taking a smoke. What the fuck does it look like I’m doing?” The human said with an almost incredulous expression.
Was this sort of extreme toughness normal?!
“YOU JUST INHALED FUCKING SMOKE! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! DO YOU WANT TO FUCKING DIE?! Barisis joined Helaven in her screeching. “HAVE HUMANS SOMEHOW MISSED THE DANGERS OF SMOKE INHALATION!?”
The possibly deranged human looked confused. “I’m just taking the edge off, what’s the problem?”
“What’s with all the screaming?” asked an annoyed Hans who had just arrived, accompanied by a meek looking Udey. “I’m on the verge of a God damn headache, so please, just stop it.”
“It’s the xenos who are yelling!” defended the insane human. “I’m just trying to have a smoke and they’re acting like I just kicked a puppy.”
The human Captain sighed. “Jana, you know how things are,” he began, looking at the now named human. “Aliens don’t know what smoking is, they have no idea what to think. Just try to explain to them what it is you’re doing instead.”
“What reasonable explanation is there for burning one's lungs?” I questioned, still baffled by what I was seeing. “And a soldier who needs to be in tip top condition, no less!”
“That's what the kerfuffle was about?” the nervous Harchen Minister spoke. “I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm with the Grey on this one. How can one justify the thing it-... he described?”
Gendered pronouns already? My, my, he's quick to learn how to address me properly.
“Well it helps me focus, alright?” Jana explained grumpily. “Helps get rid of stress.”
“You mean to tell me that smoke isn’t poisonous to you?” wondered Barisis, sounding amazed. “That would make you incredibly powerful against Exterminators. The ashen air wouldn't harm you!”
Hans sucked in a breath, hesitating a moment before speaking. “About that…”
“Don't tell me it is bad for you, yet you still allow her to do it,” the aqua-skinned medic said, sounding like she already knew the answer. “Please, Hans, captain of this whole operation. Tell me that this is not the case.”
A voice different from Hans answered. “Nope, you're correct. Lung cancer is a bitch and that lady there is gonna get intimately familiar with it soon.”
It was Tyler, the human who introduced Risha and her… Venlil lover to the defector Vraka.
I’d decided not to mention either defecting Arxur to my superiors when bringing in that scumbag Vizz, as they clearly didn't seem up for battle for much longer. I was saving rations that would ultimately be wasted as they’d be executed for being defective. It wasn't about mercy, it was purely logical. By sparing them, they’d no longer be our problem and the real traitor was brought to justice either way.
Oh how I enjoyed seeing Chief Hunter Isif gut that bastard Vizz’s with his bare claws. And shooting the corpse a couple times for good measure had also felt pretty good.
Informing the Chief Hunter just how Vizz was defeated was almost just as good. Taken to a draw by a measly Venlil, infamously one of the weakest species in the galaxy. The humiliation that traitor felt in his final moments was better than even the juiciest cut off meat.
Pulling my mind back to the present, I noticed that the two prey medics were still arguing with the ‘smoker’ Jana.
“...incredibly serious afflictions, yet you give yourself them willingly?!” exclaimed Helaven in exasperation.
“Look, it's my concern, not yours, so shove it,” replied the female soldier with a hostile tone. “Quit whining or it’ll burn up before I can smoke it.”
I decided that after my bout of silence it was time to voice my opinion on the matter. “Excuse my language, but why the actual fuck haven’t you detained this woman for her complete and utter insanity?” came the question, directed at Captain Hans.
Hans opened his mouth, but was interrupted by the female human. “It’s my fucking body. I’ll do whatever the fuck I want with it, Lizard.”
That hardly seemed like an excuse to me. The body was a sacred thing. It was one’s embodiment in the galaxy, and to actively damage it of one’s own will without care for the consequences was not only idiotic, but beyond disrespectful to oneself.
I found my thoughts being agreed upon as Barisis scoffed. “Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.” She pointed an accusatory tentacle at the human.
“Well, your kin shouldn’t have engineered the galaxy to conform with your primitive bullshit excuse of a worldview, yet you still did it for no other reason other than because you could!”

Silence permeated through the room as the Kolshian shrunk, her skin seeming to both pale and darken, a remorseful expression developing on her face. Helaven immediately went to comfort her.
“Jana…” Hans said as my attention was brought to him and the stern expression he bore on his face. “That was completely uncalled for and needlessly hurtful.”
“Yeah,” Tyler said. “Very not cool.”
Feeling oddly offended by the human’s harsh words toward Barisis, I decided to defend the Kolshian’s honour. “If she shared her government’s and people's views, she would have remained on Aafa with the rest of them,” I stated coolly, though adding an edge of anger to ensure that my opinion came through clearly. “The fact that she is able to bear being in close proximity to not only your species, but mine, should be all the evidence required to debunk the idea that she subscribes to her society’s ideals.”
Then, the Kolshian in question did something entirely unexpected.
She left her open position and took cover behind me, shielding herself from the hostile human female. Even more shockingly, she grabbed a hold of my tail, as though it would further protect her.
Did she… find comfort in my presence? No, no, that couldn't be possible. She simply sees me as the biggest piece of cover available.
“They're just concerned for your health, dude,” Tyler pointed out, gesturing to the medics and myself.
Jana huffed. “Whatever. I’ll just go smoke somewhere else.”
With that she left, forcing me to hold my breath as she passed, lest I breathe in that horrid smoke.
“Urgh, dammit, my head is pounding,” complained Hans, sounding exasperated to a degree I had never heard from him before. “I need some water or else I’ll be stuck with this for the rest of the day.”
With that, he left, Tyler following behind him.
The tentacles of the prey medic let go of me as she no longer needed to protect herself from the harshness of the huntress-soldier. She looked at me timidly, as though she expected me to yell at her for her behaviour. Instead I gazed at her with a mostly blank expression before she sheepishly returned to her salad bowl.
With the drama over, I returned to my meal, scarfing it down with speedy efficiency. While I’d been enjoying its flavour, the fight, and all the talking that had come with it, had drained my desire to savour it. The quick influx of flavours was good, but I washed it down with a glass of water.
Quite surprisingly, Udey, who openly disliked me, sat down at our table, taking a seat by Helaven.
“Do humans really do that kind of thing often?” he asked. I noticed despite being in such close proximity to me, he remained relatively relaxed.
It was a truly strange thing when I thought about it. So many leaf-lickers, who only mere [months] ago would've cowered at the sight of me, now tolerate, or possibly even enjoy, my presence. The change felt almost unnatural to me.
And yet… I didn't dislike it. It was like I was experiencing how the galaxy was meant to be. Of course, that was impossible, as predators were superior to other life, with Arxur on top. It was probably just that these prey were particularly tolerable for their kind. Yes, that was what it was. And the Harchen were former omnivores, which meant their natural state made them closer to us than they would've wanted to admit. They, and all other ‘cured’ species, were our mutilated kin. It was their right to be restored to the status of true sapients.
If possible, I wanted to convince our leaders to take up that goal. We would no longer be anomalies, or a coincidence. We would have dozens of our sort. We were at the top, of course, but they would be tolerated by the rest of the Dominion. A brotherhood of hunters. Quite an appealing concept, in my opinion.
Leaving the maze of thoughts in my mind, I noticed the two medics and the minister were having a blast of a conversation, with humans as their topic of discussion.
“No, you're messing with me,” chuckled the Harchen. “There is no way that they're the weakest of their family.”
“It's true!” Barisis exclaimed. “Out of all the apes, the animal family humans belong to, they have the least muscle mass. A wild ape is stronger than even a highly trained human.”
Udey guffawed in amusement. “That is unreasonably funny. To think we were afraid of them!”
Really? If what the Kolshian says is true, that's very interesting. No wonder humans prefer ranged weapons. I knew they were physically weaker than us, but I didn't realise they were also weaker than the beasts of their own planet.
“They still have binocular vision like my kind. And as arboreal descendants, I’d wager their eyesight is even better than ours. That means they can see you from very far away, Minister,” I added to the conversation, watching the colouration thin in Udey’s scales.
“I see…” he murmured, sounding put off. “How… comforting…”
“Quite,” I mock-agreed. “They’re always watching, those humans. Ever vigilant. Ever-seeing.”“Thass, you arse, stop it,” Barisis commanded. My snout shifted as the front of my lips curled, an equivalent gesture to when Hans would raise an eyebrow at his underlings’ actions. “He’s uncomfortable, so you’re doing to stop it.”“Are you ordering me, prey?” I asked, adding a twinge of hostility that normally wouldn’t be there.
The aqua Kolshian was unfazed, a massive change from a month ago. “Maybe it was. What are you going to do about it?”
Such a brave, foolhardy thing, she is.
I snapped my jaws at her, making her flinch ever so slightly, but otherwise she didn’t move. Her unwavering made me let out an impressed chuckle. “Very well then, doctor. I’ll listen, for now…”
“And the next time too,” she responded confidently. “You like to bluff, but I know you’re full of it.”
“Want to stake your tentacle on that claim?” I asked with a cold but tone. Though I was amused, I didn’t let much of it show externally.
Wordlessly she stuck out her limb. A month ago, she had been afraid that I would eat her. And yet now she was goading me into taking a bite out of her. She wasn’t just foolhardy, she was downright overconfident.
Moving my head toward the outstretched manipulator, my powerful jaws opened as I got closer. Udey and even Helaven looked worried, but the Aafa native did not. Even as her tentacle was in my mouth, she didn’t pull away.
Saliva dripped onto her, making her shudder. And yet she still refused to back down.
She’s not just toying with death, she was outright tempting it, goading me into trying. I don’t know if I should be impressed, bewildered or both.
Unwilling to back down, I took it a step further and ran my tongue across her limb. The taste of her skin was pleasant to the palate, much better than the steak I just had. As I had to have won with that step-up, I waited for her to register what I did.
Out of all the responses I expected, amusement wasn’t one. “You’re gross,” the medic snickered.
I started to laugh, stunned and awed by her lack of fear. She was a mere meek prey, yet was entirely unafraid of my powerful jaws ensnaring her precious body parts. It was so ridiculous it became funny!
My laughter soon became full on cackling as I relented, letting Barisis win. “You are really one brave Kolshian!” I chortled. “An exemplary specimen of your kind!”
“Wuss,” she chuckled jokingly, far more amused than the Harchen or her colleague sitting across from her.
“Don’t count on me backing down again, Barisis,” I jested. “You taste far better than anything I’ve eaten in the past [weeks].”
Unexpectedly, Helaven snorted.
“Something funny, Hel?” asked the Kolshian quizzically.
She snickered, having to take a moment to speak. “Spicy~”
“How DARE you!?” I roared in genuine offence. “To accuse me of… feeling for prey! Urgh, no!”
I stormed off, absolutely fuming. The Zurulian had the nerve to accuse me of such defectiveness to think I could develop weak feelings for a weak creature. The very thought made me sick to my stomach. Quite clearly she was too used to Risha’s less-than-standard tastes to assume that I would share her tastes. Herbivores were unworthy of my mere gaze! She should be honoured that I speak to her at all! The fucking gall to call me defective in the vilest way…
If it weren’t for our truce with humanity, I would rip her worthless spine out here and now.
My legs had carried me by themselves as I brooded in rage and had taken me far in a short time, having walked out of the building entirely without realising. I was furious with that fucking Zurulian, and wasn’t planning to speak with h- it, nor the Kolshian, anytime soon. Fucking bitch…

2024.05.17 22:17 CadeBW Ranking the Finale Legs (Part 1)

Here's a post I've been meaning to do for a while, and since TAR36 just came to an end it's the perfect opportunity! After much consideration and rewatching, here are my rankings of Amazing Race finales from worst to best. The post would have been too long so I'm splitting it into two parts.
36th place: The Amazing Race 28
It’s not by a large margin, but my pick for season with the weakest finale would have to be the Social Media Edition, in my opinion one of the weakest seasons in general. I don’t even mind the casting gimmick that much, I just think the season is pretty boring and unmemorable. (Not to mention it is extremely light on travel elements, even by modern TAR standards.) The final leg is no exception. There is a little bit of intrigue at the start with Tyler & Korey struggling with the heights task and falling out of contention, but after that virtually nothing of interest happens for the rest of the episode. Dana & Matt (a relatively uninteresting team) secure a significant lead fairly early on and easily cruise to the finish line through a series of dull tasks, including one of the show’s weakest final memory challenges. All of these bottom finales are kind of interchangeable, but this is probably the one I’m least inspired to ever rewatch.
35th place: The Amazing Race 32
This finale suffers a lot of the same issues as TAR28, but at least this one has a lively Mardi Gras aesthetic in a unique location. On paper this could have been an interesting leg but unfortunately it just played out badly, with one team getting taxi-screwed right from the beginning and another securing a massive lead from a luck-based challenge. Similar to Dana & Matt, Will & James easily trivialize every obstacle after the first Roadblock creating an unsatisfying ending to a mostly unsatisfying season. While luck is an integral and inherent part of The Amazing Race, I do have to question the decision to include a luck-based task in the final leg; it almost never produces satisfying results. TARAUS1’s finale is by far the worst example of this, and it’s lucky I’m only ranking the U.S. seasons…
34th place: The Amazing Race 24
Whenever I see people discuss bad Amazing Race finales this one always seems to come up first, and I think its reputation is deserved. But it’s funny because it seems like the producers poured half of the season’s budget into this leg (David Copperfield, task at the Mirage, helicopter skydive) and everybody ended up hating it anyway. It’s just a poorly designed leg that feels very superficial— Flashy but having very little substance. (Perhaps the producers were attempting to satirize Las Vegas itself? Only kidding…) Surprisingly easy tasks for a supposed all-star season and while skydiving directly into the finish line was a new idea, I personally really disliked it; we all knew the race was over the moment Connor & Dave read the clue for the Roadblock. I think if the leg had a proper final challenge like a memory task beforehand this would have been a lot easier to forgive though.
33rd place: The Amazing Race 36
I don’t think there’s recency bias in calling this most recent finale one of the weakest. I’ve watched the leg twice now and both times I thought to myself “Nothing really happened in this episode.” Let’s start with the good first: It’s a self-drive leg, which gave us one of the episode’s few memorable moments in the form of Juan & Shane driving to the wrong state. Meanwhile, Philadelphia was a great and long overdue final destination and I enjoyed seeing historic sites like the Betsy Ross House and the steps of the PMoA. But these facts alone cannot carry this lackluster episode which was both predictable and filled with forgettable tasks. Much like TAR32, instead of a final memory challenge we got a final puzzle, and once again it’s hard to assess how tough this task really was because the leading team managed to start and finish it before any of the others even arrived. It’s an episode that’s devoid of substance.
32nd place: The Amazing Race 16
A problem with this leg and many of the others in this section of the ranking is that they just don’t feel like final legs. It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what these legs are lacking but there is a je ne sais quoi that makes a thrilling final episode and these legs just don’t have it. There are a couple of things here I like such as the riddle at the beginning and the VR task is kind of neat, but overall this is just an extremely bland finale. It also concludes with a laughably easy final memory challenge, definitely my pick for worst in the series. This would have been okay in one of the very early seasons where the focus was entirely on travel instead of tasks, but TAR16 is decidedly not one of those seasons. How did we go from TAR12’s epic logic puzzle and TAR13’s field of Clue Boxes to “can you remember what order the teams were eliminated?” We do get Carol and Brandy malding at the finish line which I find very funny, but other than it’s a subpar ending to a subpar season.
31st place: The Amazing Race 10
It makes me sad that I have to rank this finale so low because on paper, it does a lot of things I like. I’ll tell you right now that I prefer the original finale format that includes a stopover location and teams booking their own flights compared to the TAR12+ approach of equalizing all of the teams and spending the finale in a single city. It probably wouldn’t work in the modern day and I know many people like the new format better anyway, but different strokes for different folks I guess. The element of travel has always been my favorite part of the show and I love the sense of grandeur of featuring multiple flights in the same leg. It really makes the finale feel like an epic last hurrah. Most seasons choose a non-contiguous U.S. locale for the stopover city but TAR10 is one of only two seasons to use this as an opportunity to add another country to the route, in this case France. The leg also begins with a visit to the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. That’s all really neat but unfortunately this leg is just a bore, there’s no way around it. I think the biggest issue here is like TAR16, this just doesn’t feel like a final leg, it feels like a mostly dull Paris leg that could have happened in episode 2. This season also has a pretty bland final 3 that certainly isn’t doing the episode any favors. The last challenge of the season is a very boring, low-stakes Detour before everyone ends up on the same flight to NYC where just two route markers are waiting before the finish line. In most old school seasons this final sequence of clues is extremely exciting and stressful to watch but for whatever reason it just doesn’t deliver here at all. There is a little bit of airport drama which is nice, but overall it’s just not a satisfying ending to the season.
30th place: The Amazing Race 22
This leg begins with a ferry and train ride to London for an Additional Route Information (ARI) at an English pub. It gives the start of the episode a somewhat old school feel which I appreciate, even though it was basically pointless since teams had to travel together on a pre-booked flight back to the U.S. Anyway, D.C. is a super awesome finale location and we visit some pretty historic sites in this episode like the Lincoln Memorial and George Washington’s home. There’s also a Switchback to the Family Edition which was unexpected but another detail I found strangely charming. But overall, it’s just a boring episode with a dull final 3 taking on mostly dull tasks, including another anticlimactic final memory challenge. The highlight of the episode is obviously the “picture with Barack Obama” fake-out along with Max’s cringey confessionals about being too much of a Republican to meet Obama, but aside from that there’s just not much going on in this finale.
29th place: The Amazing Race 17
It’s always a shame when an otherwise great season has a dull finale, but TAR17 is a textbook example of this phenomenon. For starters it’s just a very short leg— No extra route markers and only 3 tasks, the first being a linear fear of heights challenge and the third being a memory challenge that’s not easy, but definitely not one of the series’ hardest either. Still, this game show-themed challenge deserves credit for being one of the series’ most creative final memory challenges, and of course I love the Bob Eubanks cameo. We also get a satisfying result in Nat & Kat becoming the first F/F team to win the race, but overall it’s a finale that really feels like it’s missing something.
28th place: The Amazing Race 23
Another leg that just feels oddly dull for being a finale episode. I wouldn’t say there’s anything inherently bad about this leg, but there’s not much that jumps out about it either. That kind of sums up TAR23 as a whole, doesn’t it? Juneau was a pretty cool and unexpected final city, and to this day it’s the only time we’ve seen Alaska in HD on The Amazing Race. The bush plane Roadblock was very good— challenging and creative. Not a lot to say about the middle of the episode; we get scenic helicopter rides, kayaking, ice climbing— basically exactly what you’d expect from an Amazing Race leg set in Alaska. The totem pole currency memory challenge was an interesting idea but I think the teams got through it too easily for it to make a lasting impact. The season ends with a Jason & Amy win, who seem like good people but let’s be honest here, they’re probably the most forgettable winning team in the series; I wouldn’t exactly call it a satisfying ending.
27th place: The Amazing Race 15
This is certainly better than TAR24’s Last Vegas leg but it’s still nothing special. We of course can’t talk about TAR15’s finale without talking about pokergate. I think it’s pretty common knowledge at this point that Brian & Ericka allegedly finished the final counting challenge before Meghan & Cheyne but were mistakenly ruled against by the task judge, likely costing them the win. Your mileage is going to vary on how much this scandal dampens your enjoyment of the episode, but I’d be lying if I said finding this out for the first time didn’t significantly sour my opinion on the leg. It makes it a hard one to rank because I can’t think of any other finale where my overall feelings were affected so much by what is essentially behind-the-scenes information. Aside from that, the tasks are mostly just okay, with the Cirque du Soleil one being my favorite. There are a few other charming little additions to the leg like the Elvis impersonator and the Wayne Newton cameo that also give it a boost.
26th place: The Amazing Race 11
This is one of my favorite seasons of all time so it really pains me to have to rank this so low, but as TAR17 demonstrated, a great season is not guaranteed to have a great final leg. This is the last season to use the original finale format and unfortunately, it goes out on a bit of a whimper. Hawaii is once again chosen as the stopover location and the episode starts off with some really fun airport drama as Charla and Mirna discover during a layover that the other teams are on a faster flight and have to do some last minute scrambling to switch flights. Now listen, any episode that features both Dustin & Kandice and Charla & Mirna is guaranteed to be at least mildly entertaining, but I can’t sit here and pretend the Hawaii portion of the episode is all that great. After a few quick tasks all of the teams end up on the same flight to final destination San Francisco. Unlike TAR10, we actually do get a final challenge, but unfortunately it ends in anticlimax. On paper this “how well do you know your partner?” task sounds like it could have been great but it’s just way too simple and there’s also a bizarre rule where if you can’t finish within 10 minutes you are just given the next clue for free, making the whole thing feel very low stakes. (Check out TARAUS2 for a much better execution of this challenge!) And yeah, the outcome of this leg is also disappointing. I’m sure very few of us were rooting for Eric & Danielle to come out on top, but at a certain point we as fans just have to accept that The Amazing Race is obviously cursed and there is some supernatural force causing the least interesting team in the final 3 to win 90% of seasons.
25th place: The Amazing Race 25
Unfortunately I have to begin by talking about the surprise non-elimination on Leg 11, which is one of my least favorite twists the show has ever done. It really felt like the producers thought a cheap shock was more important than the integrity of the race. Leg 11 was also branded as a “No-Rest Leg” so the last place finishers didn’t even have to complete a Speed Bump. Even worse, Leg 10 was a Non-Elimination too so the entire Philippines portion of this season was inevitably pointless. This would all be a lot easier to stomach if it didn’t really affect the outcome of the season, but just our luck, Amy & Maya end up winning. This makes the finale an awkward viewing experience for me because I love Amy & Maya; I was rooting for them the whole season, and yet I can’t say I’m happy that they won. (If you’re familiar with Survivor, to me this is TAR’s version of the Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers finale.) As part of the twist this leg also features a midpoint elimination which I really hate. Still, the episode has a fair bit going for it. This is the first season in the series to feature self-driving in the final destination city which is awesome, and the final memory challenge is very tough; I will say, I think the editors dropped the ball in finding an engaging way to present the challenge and properly conveying its difficulty. Overall a mixed leg that would definitely rank much higher without the twist.
24th place: The Amazing Race 26
This season uses the exact same twist from TAR25 but it’s a little better this time because it’s no longer unprecedented (but still bad) and more importantly, the team that gets saved on Leg 11 does not win, they get taken out at the midpoint elimination. Like the entire season, most of the intrigue of this episode is driven by Hayley & Blair. Their downfall in this leg is sad to watch but it’s electric television. The first major mistake occurs at the second Roadblock when Hayley incorrectly identifies what she thinks are race flags sending their team astray. As they inevitably fail to find the next clue, they become increasingly agitated with each other and then get into another argument about whether or not Hayley should go back and try again. I really enjoy all of this content, but aside from that the tasks in this episode aren’t that interesting. The final memory challenge is also mediocre, incorporating selfies the teams were forced to take throughout the race, and once again, the season culminates in a forgettable team winning.
23rd place: The Amazing Race 19
Now we’re starting to get into legs that I actually think are fairly decent episodes, they just happened to be outclassed by a lot of finales that are even better. TAR19’s takes place in a unique final city, Atlanta, and there are a number of things I enjoy about the episode. We get one of the most notable finale disaster performances of all time as Marcus continuously fails to land the plane at the flight simulation Roadblock. The leg contains a fair amount of cryptic clues like the riddle teams have to solve to find Turner Field as well as Margeret Mitchell’s former residence being called “The Dump.” The latter leads to another comical mishap as Jeremy & Sandy get led to a random department store that is coincidentally also named The Dump and waste a bunch of time aimlessly wandering through lanes of furniture. But due to these costly mistakes plaguing the other teams, there’s not a lot of suspense as Ernie & Cindy steadily work their way to the finish line. Like TAR17 there are only 3 real tasks in this leg, and the final memory challenge is a letdown. Overall this episode has fun moments but there are many other finales that have more to offer.
22nd place: The Amazing Race 18
This one takes place in Florida, and unlike most modern finales it actually covers a fair bit of distance as teams begin in Miami and end up over 2 hours away in Pigeon Key. The episode just isn’t that exciting though. It begins with two Roadblocks which are both fairly forgettable, and rather than a final memory challenge we get an attention-to-detail task in which teams have to decorate a trailer according to an example. I actually think this is a pretty entertaining task and this part of the episode is actually quite exciting as all the teams are neck and neck. The teams are also getting battered by wind during this task which makes it much better. Still, I feel like this episode would rank much higher if there was just one more task after this, ideally a final memory challenge. There is a bit of ARI in the middle of the leg which I appreciate, for example walking across the ocean to get to Horseshoe Island is pretty cool. All things considered, I think this is a fair spot for TAR18.
21st place: The Amazing Race 35
The Amazing Race’s first season with 90 minute episodes has a pretty decent final episode. Like other recent finales it’s a self-drive leg which gives it major bonus points right from the get-go, and it also twists the usual finale format by implementing a Scramble. I actually thought the Scramble worked pretty well here, allowing teams to tackle the episode’s three middle tasks in whichever order they wanted, allowing for some strategic decision-making. In addition to the self-driving there are a total of 5 different tasks in this leg which is a very nice amount. Still, this is kind of a middling finale for me because I don’t feel like anything that memorable happens during it. The tasks range from pretty good to just okay, with the final memory challenge being particularly forgettable. Overall it’s a well-designed leg that for whatever reason lacks the level of excitement I expect out of a finale.
20th place: The Amazing Race 29
TAR29’s final leg is a pretty good ending to an even better season. Similar to TAR35, there are a lot of things I like about this episode but I do feel that for whatever reason it’s just missing its flair. It starts off with a task at the racetrack in Joliet which drags on for a while and does nothing for me, but then teams have to visit a whole bunch of different locations in Chicago which I really enjoy. First they have to find a clue at the subway cleverly hidden with an employee instead of a traditional clue box, and then they have to solve some riddles to locate three sites containing clues that reveal a fourth location when combined. When they finally arrive, they’re met with even more Route Info sending them to a place to buy hotdogs which they must bring to a final location, Wrigley Field. The whole middle portion of this episode feels kind of old school in the sense that there are no real tasks, it’s just a bunch of navigation and problem solving. Really good stuff in my opinion. The final memory challenge at Wrigley Field is pretty neat too, probably one of the most impressive in terms of scope and location, although it’s not really that exciting either. That’s mostly because Brooke & Scott secure such a big lead that they basically finish the entire challenge before either of the other teams even show up. Not the leg’s fault, just the way things played out. I definitely think with a more interesting final 3 and a closer competition this could have gone down as one of the great Amazing Race finales.
19th place: The Amazing Race 8
The Family Edition comes to a solid close with a leg that primarily takes place in Toronto before taking a boat down the Niagara River into Upstate New York for a nail-biter of a final Roadblock. The leg is a bit short though, in fact only about 30 minutes in episode time; it’s the second half of a Superleg so it makes sense in the context of the season, but when comparing it to other standalone finale episodes this is a minor knock against it. The Detour is fairly average and doesn’t really give “final leg” at all, but everything afterward is great. The ride across the river is a super fun scene with waves splashing everywhere making for a high energy segment that perfectly builds up to the final challenge: Completing a jigsaw puzzle of North America, putting a nice thematic bow on the season. The Linz family winning was a predictable and not that exciting result but overall, this was a pretty enjoyable finale episode for the season.
I'll try to get the second half up sometime next week. Let me know what you think about these first 18 finales and where they are placed! I welcome strong opinions.

2024.05.17 22:00 GalaxiGazer For my living ghost: This is my why

Dear you,
Yes, you. My living ghost. Even if you never come forward, deep down, you know who you is. This piece is for you.
I've read plenty of letters here and the main theme seems to be the same: they are left with not knowing why. That's what makes things so painful. Not being aware of any reason why and not even having the opportunity to make things right. After nearly four years, I've been able to collect enough evidence and I can finally present everything to the universe to justify my reason(s) why I should render you as my ghost and rule you as being a permanent reminder of my past.
First, you are not in my present. Yes, I may have dreams about you, thoughts about you, and memories about you. All that means was that, once upon a time, you were present in my life. But what about right now. Have you informed me of your new number once you had it changed? Have you responded to any of the emails I sent to you (last time I checked, "Sonic" was still working)? Have you truly put in demonstrative effort in the real world to reach me? No, there is no need to answer because you and I both already know. Guilty feet ain't got no rhythm, bruh.
Secondly, we were not brought together from a place of health and abundance, but from pain and woundedness. I was going through my divorce and trying to figure out my life. You were still grieving over the eternal love of your life (M) and struggled to believe that you'd be able to enlist in the Army and leave. Neither of us were available to each other or right for each other. I had no business even entertaining any kind of idea of being with you. At best, we might have found temporary comfort by engaging in casual sex. Even if you never tell me, I'm confident that J was sufficiently taking care of you in that way (otherwise, why else would you go out of your way to avoid me in favor of spending time with her? No, don't even answer that).
Lastly, speaking to the future, I have no real-world evidence that our lives are heading in the same direction. Let's just say, for argument's sake, that I had been wrong about everything else. You fell in live with me. You miss me and you could actually see us building a life together. That's great ... but is that it? Is the only thing you have to offer me are sweet feelings of love and affection, punctuated by sexual desire? What are you doing with yourself? Where is your life headed? How do you expect me to take you and what would've been our future together seriously if you can't even take yourself seriously? And have you truly given any of this any kind of thought? And if you have, then why have you not put in the effort to even let me know?
I was willing to overlook and forgive the first two, since both issues stem from the past. However, if you were worth my heart and my future, then I'd expect so much better and so much more from you. But because I haven't seen it, and very likely I never will, then it's reasonable why I should no longer consider you my future. No, I'm not mad at you. I've already worked through my disappointment, sadness and regret. I'm more coming into a place of peace and acceptance.
In closing, I'll provide further context for my reasoning through Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing". In the song, Steve Tyler says, " 'Cause even when I dream of you, the sweetest dream will never do". The most intense dreams I had about you were in 2022 (and if the universe had been honest with me, you were in Korea at the time). Out of the many I had, the one that jumps out to me was when you simply proposed, "GalaxiGazer, will you marry me?" Without any confusion or hesitation, I told you, "Yes*". Since then, I had questioned you as well as questioned your intentions. That's what had been driving me to think about you differently. But, hey, it was just a dream, after all.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
~ Me

2024.05.17 18:55 EJC28 Commanders 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 1, Pick 2 - Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU:
NFL: It’s rare to find a quarterback prospect with A+ arm talent and rushing ability. Daniels was surrounded by talented playmakers at LSU, but I’d argue he was the biggest playmaker on that offense. He is the prototypical, new-school quarterback as a dynamic athlete who is a refined pocket passer with the touch, accuracy and timing to consistently drop passes in the bucket on deep throws.
CBS Sports: A. I love this pick. It’s a great situation for a rookie. The team has a new owner, coach and now quarterback. They can grow together. He will be the best QB in this class.
ESPN: In Adam Peters' first draft as Commanders' general manager, he opted for Daniels over J.J. McCarthy and Drake Maye. If Peters got the right man then Washington finally will have a solution to a quarterback problem that has plagued them for decades. Peters' pick will always be judged by the success, or failure, of McCarthy and Maye -- though far less so if Daniels thrives in Washington. If Daniels becomes the quarterback they hope, Washington could finally end decades of subpar play on the field. Its .399 winning percentage over the past 10 years is better than only five teams. The organization has not won 10 games since it last had a dual-threat rookie quarterback in 2012 -- Robert Griffin III. He energized the fan base unlike any player in recent memory, and the hope for Washington is that Daniels will do the same. But the Commanders need that fire to burn longer than one year, as it did with Griffin.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Has been able to fart on command since he was 9.
Round 2, Pick 36 - Jer’Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois:
NFL: The Commanders clearly read the comment above this one. They'll happily take Newton, who is a ferocious scheme-wrecker as a 3-technique and probably should have gone higher than this. They might have bypassed offensive tackle for now, with no talent worth taking here, but they interestingly are pretty stocked at defensive tackle.
CBS Sports: A+. Serious talent at DT. Powerful, polished upfield rusher with stellar hand work. Pad level raises at times but that’s nitpicking. Need meets awesome value here for Washington.
ESPN: Washington did not need a defensive tackle, and clearly have some key holes to fill, but the Commanders opted for the best player available in taking Newton. Washington drafted Phidarian Mathis in be the second round two years ago, but he has yet to make an impact playing behind Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. They also have John Ridgeway, but beyond that they needed more help. Another key: Allen has no more guaranteed money on his contract, which runs through 2025, so the team could move on from him after this season. As a result, Newton can help this season, but take on an even bigger role in the future.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He once ate cottage cheese on pizza, it wasn’t that bad.
Round 2, Pick 50 - Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan:
NFL: One day, Sainristil will be your favorite nickel back's favorite nickel back. Scouts love the guy in spite of his smaller, leaner frame and despite switching over from receiver only a few years ago. His football instincts are extremely sound, and his intangibles are off the charts. This is a terrific pick for a franchise bent on completely remaking the football culture in Washington.
CBS Sports: B+. Pesky nickel CB with flexibility, instincts, and a high motor. Can beat some blockers en route to the football. Reasonable twitch and plus zone awareness. Exactly the type of playmaker the Commanders need. Tackling good, not amazing. Maybe a touch early.
ESPN: Washington's cornerbacks struggled last season. The Commanders signed three corners in free agency, but needed more players who could compete for starting roles. Sainristil will do just that, though he would play in the slot, where there also was a need. Quan Martin started in the slot at the end of the season, but the second-year pro can also play safety. Sainristil also showed he can take the ball away in college with seven interceptions. Washington needs more players like that in the secondary.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Has a flask of water that was blessed by an Alaskan Medicine Man.
Round 2, Pick 53 - Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State:
NFL: The newfangled Commanders seem to get this draft thing. Their three Day 2 picks so far have all been personal favorites, including Sinnott, whom I appeared to be higher on than some other media draft folks. He's got some Mark Andrews to his game, as Sinnott can find open spaces readily, has reliable hands and will break tackles in the passing game. He also gives good effort as a blocker.
CBS Sports: A+. Love this pick. Athletic, explosive athlete. Clearly the second-best receiving TE in this class. YAC skill is outstanding. Strong hands. Just not a true burner down the seam. Will be a go-to target for Jayden Daniels.
ESPN: Washington needed more versatility at tight end, which is what Sinnott provides. He can help as a tight end, but, at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, he has the size to help as a blocker from the fullback position as well. He also showed he could catch, with 49 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns. The Commanders needed another tight end with pass-catching potential to pair with Zach Ertz. Washington also has John Bates, but he's more of a blocker. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury likes to use a lot of two tight end sets so adding someone else who can catch was a must.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Applied to be on Survivor, but doesn’t like sand.
Round 3, Pick 67 - Brandon Coleman, OG, TCU:
NFL: He was announced as a guard, interestingly, which is not where Coleman played primarily last year -- and tackle is certainly the biggest worry in Washington. But he did see time at guard, too, and has the athleticism to work in a Kliff Kingsbury offense predicated on OL movement.
CBS Sports: A. Big, girthy OT who probably kicks into guard at next level. Measurables are impressive and he’s a special mover for his size. Weapon at the second level because of that combination. Burst and finishing ability. Can recover and hand work is polished. Lateral quickness a bit slow at times. Love this pick for Washington after Daniels in Round 1.
ESPN: Washington has spent the offseason trying to rebuild and fix its offensive line. The Commanders added two starters via free agency in center Tyler Biadasz and guard Nick Allegretti. Coleman now can help at tackle, though he also started games at guard while at TCU. But the immediate need remains at tackle so the Commanders need him to fill that void. Washington cut former starting left tackle Charles Leno Jr., and does not have a full-time replacement on the roster -- which is why they need Coleman to work out. Also, Washington drafted a tackle in the fourth round last season in Braeden Daniels, but he struggled in training camp and eventually was placed on injured reserve with a rotator cuff injury. He did not show he could be a future starter last summer.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: THIS TRUE FACT BROUGHT TO YOU BY DRAFT KINGS: The crown is yours.
Round 3, Pick 100 - Luke McCaffrey, WR, Rice:
NFL: GM Adam Peters came from San Francisco, where they had another guy with the same last name. This McCaffrey is a converted QB who has settled in nicely at receiver, able to translate his football IQ and athleticism into production. He has good hands, likely will work best in the slot and is regarded as a future coach. Another culture pick for Washington.
CBS Sports: B+. Older wideout with obvious NFL bloodlines. Juice galore and can separate because of his jagged movements in the route. Salesmanship is there at times too. Not a YAC freak but will make cuts without losing speed with the ball in his hands. Length and physicality hurt him. Good hands in traffic. Nice weapon here.
ESPN: McCaffrey provides needed depth at receiver. Beyond Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, Washington had too many questions at this position. And Dotson has not yet ascended to the level the organization hoped when it drafted him in the first round two years ago. At 6-foot-2, McCaffrey gives Daniels a bigger target from the slot -- Peters likes his quickness inside. McCaffrey started his career as a Nebraska quarterback and ended it as a receiver at Rice.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Pick #100. Buckle up. Only 157 more to go.
Round 5, Pick 139 - Jordan Magee, LB, Temple:
NFL: If Magee is protected well up front, he can fly around and make plays with his energetic style. But his slender frame and lack of take-on strength might limit him to passing-down duty and special teams.
CBS Sports: A-. High-cut plus athlete at the off-ball LB spot. Starter athleticism with requisite length. Inconsistent beating blocks. Can avoid them with them at times but not a calling card. Has the frame and athleticism to be a quality coverage ‘backer just doesn’t have much experience doing so to date. Range is there.
ESPN: Washington has spent the offseason rebuilding its linebacker core, adding starters Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu as well as backups Anthony Pittman and Mykal Walker. They also still have Jamin Davis. So Magee will have work to do in order to make the roster and contribute -- most likely on special teams. Magee has experience playing special teams. The Commanders have focused in part on adding good leaders and Magee was a two-time team captain at Temple. He started for three seasons and led the team in tackles each of the past two years. Last season he also had a team-high 14 tackles for a loss and was tied for most sacks with 3.5.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Went on a 2 week road trip following the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile.
Round 5, Pick 161 - Dominique Hampton, S, Washington:
NFL: Hampton took a longer path to success with the Huskies but developed into a good hitter with experience at multiple spots. Scouts debated where his NFL home might be on defense, but at the very least he carries good special teams experience into the league.
CBS Sports: B-. One of the best overall athletes at the safety spot in this class. Explosive, bend, suddenness, it’s all there. Play ID’ing skill should be sharper given he was at Washington for six years. Wants to be part of the action just very boom-or-bust as a tackler. Will find it in the air but not a man-coverage specialist.
ESPN: Washington has a core of young safeties with Darrick Forrest, Jartavius Martin and Percy Butler, plus veterans in Jeremy Chinn and Jeremy Reaves. The Commanders did not have a need for another safety to provide immediate help, but they could use one to develop, and that's where Hampton enters. His size -- 6-foot-2, 215 pounds -- is a good starting point. Any help in Year 1 would come on special teams -- he was named the most outstanding special teams player at Washington in 2021. He spent six years with the Huskies, starting the last two and led the team in tackles this past season. He also showed versatility, playing some corner for the Huskies.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Keeps a massive scratch and sniff sticker collection.
Round 7, Pick 222 - Javontae Jean-Baptiste, DE, Notre Dame:
NFL: An ideal camp-competition pick, JJB is a middling athlete with some stiffness, but he showed improvement as a super senior and ran back a blocked kick for a touchdown last season.
CBS Sports: A-. Started at Ohio State and plays like an ascending defender because of his athleticism, bend, and glimmer of pass-rush moves around the corner. But is an older prospect already. Plus athlete. Has to get stronger. Plenty of length. Nice roll of the dice.
ESPN: The Commanders signed three edge rushers in the offseason, but only Dorance Armstrong received a multi-year contract. They do have two young holdovers from last year's draft class in KJ Henry and Andre Jones Jr. Jean-Baptiste will challenge those two for a roster spot. Jean-Baptiste spent six years in college football -- the first five at Ohio State and last year at Notre Dame. He was a reserve for the Buckeyes but started for the Irish and led the team with 10.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks. He had the seventh fastest 40-time (4.66 seconds) among defensive ends at the combine.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Actually wanted to be a kicker but that didn’t work out so he’s this position.
